"Very few of those players are either providing depth or worse yet. Are starters for the florida state. Seminoles right now. So mike norville comes into this program and he's got to put a band aid on the tank panic i mean. How are you supposed to be able to stop this type of sinking. When you're going out of the transfer portal on you're trying to patchwork this thing together to come up with a full gamut of an eighty five man roster. I think it interferes with your locker room. Your team chemistry. They don't have any foundation and that's one of the reasons. Why going forward does they have no choice but to ride this thing out. And hopefully salvage the twenty twenty two twenty three and twenty twenty four recruiting classes. So at least they have a foundation to build the program upon lose man. You hit the nail on the head with the foundation. They have not yet built the foundation up there. So they don't have an identity. You're looking at a program without an identity and don't forget the seminoles there used to be one of the best teams in all of college football. You knew who they were. You knew what they were about. Mike no i believe it was a really good coach. But you can't tell by the product on the field. I mean when you lose to jacksonville state and the way that they lost that game it's inexcusable because you have better athletes on the field. You better coasting debt for them. To give up that long touchdown at the end of the game to lose jacksonville state. I was like man. This is really now in the bill and the coach but more so in my opinion as a player when you take pride in yourself to produce a better product on the field every time you lined up that's to me what this is all about. You gotta have pride in the uniform but you also gotta have pride in yourself and what you put on sale for people to see and the data coach can only do so much sets the tone. He builds a culture but at some point everybody on that feels gotta look at themselves and say you know what it's gut check time right now though it is time for..

"Thousand dollar free bet whether it's a twenty percent free royal fan duel has a myriad of ways to get your bankroll into the business of making money. This fall go there. Use the promo code at the board and take full advantage pain. I wanted to what you thought of what you saw unfold last saturday in college football. And if you want we can let you sidestep the debacle at the doak. There doesn't need to sidestep but that was a terrible loss and falls on the coaching staff. Adam fuller has not been good for a season plus now and my feeling is if him and norval weren't close and there is a little more resources that's a fireable events and mike norville went into that presser after and claimed that they were in a defense that they were not it and kind of covering fuller so that was interesting. They're not to game. That's on mark norville as well. I mean my understanding was early in the week. Practice was absolute dog crap. You had the the florida guys who you know. Four stars thinking that you know competed with notre dame and that this was going to be an easy one and i think that mindset was really on the coaches as well i mean what is mike norville doing. I understand that mackenzie milton might give you the higher floor. I'm sorry the higher ceiling and he lets recruits. See that this is the offense that you wanna run. That isn't just A ground and pound game with your quarterback running but those are games. You have to get out there and win. You can't lose that game. You can't you gotta put jordan travis in there make a low variance game. Run the football when by seventeen and get out of dodge so that was not very good from florida state and its coaching staff. Yeah this oregon. Oh god ohio state. Yeah exactly. I mean i you know i. I think that was a really game effort. I mean we saw tim to ruder. Give shroud some issues early in that game crystal ball on the offensive line enforced there. Will the question marks. We had about ohio states. Defense was more in the secondary but they got bullied upfront in the trenches. And so you know give give credit to some of the guys that were projecting ohio states defense outside the top twenty five. At the beginning of the season. They were bang on accurate. Stroud still making some mistakes for guys starting his second game but i thought they were stretches there were he looked fantastic. Three receivers went over one hundred yards receiving. But he's still throwing the ball a little bit high. Still making some young quarterback mistakes but give all the credit in the world oregon. There you go on the road. And i think we discussed this ri- you lost two days of prep and rest another day traveling. You're all world defensive. Lineman is out. You're down to linebackers. You did it. Short handed and so organ deserves all the credit in the world for them. Honestly and i'll eat a little bit of. I've been critical of mario cristobal and his ability to get his team focused and ready to go each and every week during the season. I can't take shots anything. He's done recruiting wise to build up that talent level oregon and employer brand of football. That you talked about you. Just don't see on the west coast going out there and trying to be hard nosed play with that physical swagger of sorts that we saw from david show and stanford who's at the peak. Didn't think that kind of effort was in the cards. So i have to give oregon a ton of credit thought ohio. State's offense kind of right. The ship is you kind of mentioned there defensively. We knew the secondary was a problem. Did not think that oregon was going to be able to run the football for seven yards pop. So some interesting games there. They'll shake up. The landscape obviously did want to touch on notre dame but we'll break them down for their upcoming matchup against purdue and you know honestly may make the most sense for us to get right into things is we have a lot of land to cover and we can do is so right in your backyard payne with a twelve o'clock eastern kickoff where the suddenly spry spartans come in to hardrock stadium. It's miami a six and a half point home favourite in the heat of the south florida day. Total in this game sits at fifty six and a half at fan sports book and pain when you look at mel tucker is bunch. Clearly the offense has been a welcome breath of fresh air and wins over north western. And of course last weekend's fcs member youngstown state. But i think when you try and dive in this game the biggest match up to try and identify how things are going to go. We'll be that michigan state offensive line. Paving the way for kenneth walker against the miami defensive line that hey look we'll throughout the alabama game a lot of teams are gonna make Alabama's gonna make a lot of teams look bad. But what do we expect from the canes upfront against michigan state. Road graders so let's let the listeners. Know what the heck we're doing this week. We are going to change some things up. Todd posted a poll on what was the fifth game. You would like to hear us breakdown. We're gonna discuss that game. Obviously but we wanted to talk about more games. So what we're going to do is six games today. The first four are going to be like one key factor. The biggest thing that we think plays a role in the outcome of the game. And then we'll have deep dives for penn state auburn and alabama florida. So that's what we're doing here. I think this is probably the right way to approach. Is people want more games and so this felt like a week where there is a lot of those ones kind of on the cost of making the cut or not and so i think we said. Hey let's kind of discuss a couple of these. This is interesting. When you look at michigan and miami you'd dig into you know things past the power number and some things that stand out that are impactful but trying to always gauge. The the largest factor can be a little bit difficult. And i think you hit this perfectly one of the factors. Certainly the heat of miami have you. Have you seen the the weather projected. It's not good if you're training in. Northern climates now..

"They're back to being independent people. If you forgot last year they were in the A. C C was a covid year, a weird year. This year. They are back to being independent, but kinda have their toe in the water with the A. C. C. So if they win, it's a wash kind of in terms of the conference because they're still independent. But if Florida State wins, then you have another W for the conference. That's important for the CC as a whole. It's important for college football's the whole shape. Everybody needs Florida State to have a pulse again. I mean, that is one of the pillars of college football. Mike Norville is a proven great coach. He did it at Memphis. He hasn't proven himself at Florida State yet, but there is no bigger rebuild. Then what's going on their floors safer? How bad it got during those Willy Taggert years? If the wants to save any kind of face in what? Let's be clear it's been a disastrous weekend. They need Notre Dame. They need Notre Dame to lose this game. They need Florida State to knock off a top 10 team and say, Hey, maybe it's not Clemson. Maybe it's not Carolina right now. Maybe it's not Miami, but Virginia Tech quietly is building and Florida State is quietly building would be good for balance. It is an immense ask of Mike Norville and Florida State and week one. So you brought this up How bad Florida State has been as of late. Unfortunately, Notre Dame is 33 5 over the last three seasons, Florida State 14 and 20 in that exact same span. It has been a minute since Florida State has been good and J points out. Something I think is true. Like when we start having USC Florida State, Texas, some of these perennially good programs be good again. It's only good for the sport and for all of us watching it on Saturdays. Typically also, this is Florida State's first time ever playing a game on a Sunday Does it matter? Oh, it doesn't matter because you know what? There's guys on that roster that will be playing on Sundays moving forward truths. Guys don't pay attention to that kind of thing at the end of day. I don't even know why we're playing football. He also Alabama yesterday, right? Like why are we even playing these items? Crown him? Go ahead and crown them. That's straight. Talk wireless, No contract, no compromise. Speaking of crowning, we're heading to Champa Bai. Next. They are still wearing that crown from last year we going to get a local take on the defending champions. "People are talking about it. But florida state hosts notre dame. Where is this largest day program right now. That's a question. Everybody is wondering here in florida and also in the acc. Mike norville brought in a lot of transfers this off season to able to help bring some veteran leadership to the table. This was one of the youngest teams in the country a year ago and it showed on top of the fact that the program was in complete disarray when mike norville took over so to be able to solidify things a little bit more. They're going to be relying on a lot of guys who came from somewhere else and number one could potentially be the guy we were just talking about mackenzie milton. Who's trying to start for florida state. In what would be an absolutely remarkable comeback from a devastating leg and knee injury. Florida state has not announced a starter. I don't anticipate they'll announce a starter before. Sunday between mackenzie milton jordan travis. Who's played a lot of football for florida state but this is a team. That has a very difficult schedule ahead of them. It's not just opening with notre dame. They've obviously got florida at the end of the year but inside their acc schedule they have to play north carolina and clemson and miami the three ranked teams in the acc so no matter what happens this season. I expect there to improvement but because the schedule is so difficult. It's hard to know what that win. Loss record is going to look like to be able to say okay. The improvement went from zero to sixty as opposed to zero to one hundred. But i do think florida's states can be better. I think they're going to have a chance to make a bowl game. And i think some of the trans that they brought in are gonna make a big impact for this team and defensively. I'll just highlight somebody who transferred from georgia germain johnson who has had an absolutely fantastic spring and fall campaign on the defensive line. That's an area. Florida state has to be better. And i think he's going to upgrade that unit right away and he could potentially make life miserable for notre dame because they've got some new offensive lineman or new quarterback and breaking in a bunch of new starters on offense major adelson on so many important stories of week one of the college football season indra. Thanks always great to see you. Hope to see against you bet Let's take a break. We have the commissioner of the american Andrew just mentioned that league with cincinnati. "Any As i mentioned before according to a report from the orlando sentinel. Florida and ucf has agreed to a three game series. Two of the games played in gainesville. One in orlando now the gators with host the nights in gainesville at twenty four and twenty thirty three. Are we already talking. That we are while the gators would travel to orlando in twenty thirty. These two teams by the way only met twice before in their programs history. Greg it really just jumping off point here for which power five five matchup. You'd like to see if it was up to you to me. I think it'd be really fascinating if you took willie tagger who is now at florida. Atlantic and played them against the florida state seminoles currently coached by mike norville that just with the coach and the angle that willie taggart was let go too soon have enough to really revitalize the program in his image all these other things. I think that would be fascinating. Matchup between two programs not all that dissimilar to ucf and florida ended up within the state of florida. I think. Fau against florida state would be one. I would support for sure. Just knowing that willie taggart would have those guys without question willing to run through a brick wall against his former team. I'm gonna go with. Somebody's high powered offenses in the american conference memphis and smu and even ucf sometimes houston when talented football team. That put up a ton of points. We watch him play together in. The scores are like seventy.

"Out? Right Take as we discussed yesterday. Dabba wasn't happy with Florida State's decision not to play on Saturday after covert protocols were violated at Clemson. This game was not canceled because of Kobe. Over. It was just an excuse to cancel the game. And to be honest with you. I don't think it has anything to do with their players. I have no doubt that their players wanted to play and would have played. I'm playing with the coaches. Maybe the Florida State Administration forfeited the game. Yesterday, seven Owls head coach Mike Norville responded. We're a young team that needs every rep that we can get. This is a This is a program that we're continuing to build on your base foundation, not only who we are but where we're going. And so you know, I'm not concerned about what any other coach says or thinks other schools can can handle themselves, You know, drop the course of the week, and if they elect practice symptomatic players they can do that if they elected. Whatever protocols that are in place, But when it comes to the well being of our student athletes and the policies and procedures of what we're gonna do, we're gonna rely on our medical advisers to make the best Cole Babble double down after nor Bella's comments, saying, quote. It's an insult to the credibility of our program. We all agreed to the same rules and just magically those rules change Saturday morning. And quote a SEC commissioner John Swofford tried to clear the air, saying, quote. I don't think there's any blame here. People are trying to make the best decisions for the right reasons and quote. So in bounds right about the A. C C should make a more definitive stance and either punished clumps in or F s U for the postponement. Um, this is this one is thistles dicey for me. But I don't think that Clemson or F Florida state should be punished. For, um, for the postponement, But there's a big amount of money a large amount of money that it takes to shuttle the team down. To Tallahassee from Clemson, stay in a hotel and then get up the next morning and not actually play Now. I don't know. I'm pretty sure that the impact financially from the broadcast partner is a big deal. And so that money is not realized, yet the expense obviously has already been incurred. So I'm going to say I'm going to say out of bounds. Because I don't think it's necessarily Clemson or Florida State's fall. In fact, I gave some of the details yesterday. But the bigger the deeper message is that once they got together, and they realize all the things that were going on, and Clemson player Is a simple was symptomatic during the week, then became asymptomatic tested negative all week but then tested positive on Friday and then flew with the team. And then they commissioned the medical professionals from both teams couldn't decide what to do. What actually happened was Florida State wanted Clemson to test the entire team on Saturday and then potentially play the game on Saturday or Monday to which they couldn't come to an agreement on And now Daboo is probably pissed because he incurred the cost of going down there and then get it didn't get to play a game. I think this is Maura actually on the A. C. C. M stay out of bounds. But I think this is more on the A C c B A. C C needs to have a neutral party that ultimately determines whether or not these games were played. Based on these type of circumstances. You can't leave it to two sides. They aren't gonna ever see out. I I Are you in or you out, Right,.

"And for that one night, they look good. Now, as it turns out. Minnesota and I'm not exactly. They literally have the worst defense of all the power conference teams. I looked it up their rank the hunt coming into last night's game, They were ranked 127th out of 128 teams. So as it turns out, they just played the best possible opponent in week one, and it's all been downhill since. Yeah, you know, obviously a zoo that worked out for Michigan. But as we mentioned earlier with everything that's going on this year in college football, I really don't know if you could fire your coach. I think it's hard boss saying, I'm not going to come back if I don't get an extension. I think they would take a back for the final year. I think I'll say you know what? There's too many openings in the NFL. You don't want to give me the extension and chose to me. You don't want me around. I'm out of here, and I think that's the way it's gonna go and play out Aaron well, and it's not just that there's so many openings in the NFL. It's the right openings, right? I mean, I don't know if the Jets would be interested in him. But if you get the chance, coach Trevor Laurence, that's tough to turn down when you know they don't have absolutely When they you know, they don't want you in Michigan. It's tough to turn down the Cowboys. As you said, It's tough to turn down one that somebody brought up to me this week. The Bears If they open up, he played for the Bears. You know they're gonna be drafting a quarterback. Probably so You know to me, Or would you want of the Jets that was Atlanta, Houston, Chargers Detroit all even though Chicago If that opens up, let's forget about Chicago. I gotta tell you I know it may sound crazy. The jet sound like an appealing job. If I'm gonna get it all everything quarterback in Trevor warrants. There's nowhere to go but up and it is New York. I think it wouldn't be too bad. I'm with you if you get the chance. I mean, Trevor Laurence. Maybe other people disagree. I think he's probably the best college quarterback in terms of the long term scale. I mean, he 66 can throw it all over the field. He's a better athlete than people give him credit for. You get the chance to coach that guy. It's no disrespect to the Chargers, the Texans to Shawn Watson deck Prescott, whoever Dallas I don't know how you pass up the chance to coach Trevor Laurence. I really don't see that much better than fields because feels had three interceptions today, because up till now we thought they were a good one, too. And we really weren't sure how much better if he was better at all. Now, people like Oh, look at that. Now you see why I'm not Can we take all you know what happened today with a little great assault there or what? I love Justin Fields, but one I don't think that you want. I don't think you can pass up Trevor Laurence for him. Um, And I'm not saying that. Yeah, Yeah, I mean, and it doesn't make Justin Fields a bad quarterback, but I just don't think you could pass up Trevor Laurence form. Yeah. 33 Interceptions certainly sends up a little bit of a red flag. But you can't You know, Judge a kid based on One game and not take the overall, you know, scheme of things of what he's done, and it's certainly a big packages. No doubt about that. You want to go ahead and jump on in real simple errand on the score. Tourist. I'm instinctive genius. One will go through more of the top 25 get to some of the late scores about. In fact, here comes the Sager to see what's trending out there. What's going on out there to say. Hello, gentlemen. Utah tied 10 10 with us. See second quarter Nothing going on in the Michigan game. They're preparing to start overtime tied at 35. Rutgers. What you guys went back at each other against in the first segment of the show tonight, speaking as someone from the news desk, the Clemson postponement today was absolutely a story. Never before with all of this year's virus cases, had a game been called off the day of the game with the visiting opponent, having already traveled there, and we're watching Utah play tonight. This is finally their season opener on November 21st because of all the virus cases in their coach had said this month that we've had some players become very sick. It's yet again a reminder that people especially if you're young, don't think that you can't get ill or you're not human. And you know you're you're like Superman. No, it couldn't hit anybody. It might Hilda people harder. But again, there was I remember one report. One Utah player was in the hospital because of this right, But it's important to note he wasn't with the team because people have sent that. Sent that article to me privately, and I do think it's different if you've opted out if you're not part of the team, and you're not getting the medical care testing, etcetera, not saying it's not serious and young people can't get it. That's right. But that's an important note and going going back to my point that they're not playing their season opener. Now. It's not just because of that one guy. Obviously, it's correct. The program agree. It's not just because of conference protocols and any time we mentioned the word and I probably will in the next minute, But it mentioned the word flew. In the same sentence is coronavirus that Let's be careful. There's a vaccine for the flu every year. It's not at all the same thing. There's a great great item from Bruce Feldman, Fox sideline reporter who also writes for the athletic on the details that the claims and players were at the team Hotel in Tallahassee today. Getting ready for a noon eastern time match up. But just before 9 A.m. Eastern, the game was postponed by the conference. There was an early morning conference call with the team's medical personnel from each side and they could not agree on moving forward to have a game. But protocol from the A. C C was absolutely followed because their protocol is the two schools have to agree to play. The conference does not overrule the decision. One way or another, says Bruce. So, absolutely. Florida State was in its rights, too, You know, raise a red flag saying Wait a bit. You had a guy that tested positive here and he practiced with you all week and attended meetings this week and was on the team plane and was on the team bus. The thing is, he tested positive Friday after traveling and it was a different, more serious test where he finally was positive. So even though he had symptoms on campus during the week, yes, he took. Clemson's regular testing was negative Monday and negative Wednesday and then the rapid test Thursday was negative. But then they went to the nasal swabs on Friday. And then he was positive. Had they been itself like it was Florida State backing out there, we're worlds. The like Florida State did not agree with that. But still, there was one note in that article that I found interesting that Clem's in claims that they had a similar situation earlier in the year with an A C C opponent and the game was played, so that's right and Florida State instead said No, and they both apparently have an off day, mid December. So as Mike Norville, who had covert early in the season as he said, We think we can play them again. We hope to be able to play Clemson in December..

"So teak is getting ready to hop a flight in about an hour to have or so on and had a little south for what is the marquee game of the year, Georgia and Alabama. Yes, is going to be different without Without Nick Saban. He can't have any interaction with the team up until 90 minutes before kickoff. Even though it sounds like they're trying to find a way around it so they can't use the one that's having me I would meet. Do you know? Of course, I would rather watch the game with Nick coaching, but a rule is a rule of protocols of protocol. You can't coach. Yeah, but they're saying now that if he tests positive for three straight days, you mean negative neck. I mean negative if he tests negative for three straight days. And he's asymptomatic. Then he's cleared. Then he could potentially be on the sidelines. But is that in accord with the protocol that was put forth before the start of the season? Or is that like, Let's just Yeah. Yeah, Harris. Well, Fame coach. Yeah, it's interesting, BT it's us because I don't know because when Mike Norville and remember we talked about this three weeks ago or so, the Florida state Miami game that he missed. I never heard that and it never came up. I'm not sure if this was something that was just inserted into the rulebook now because Nick say even a number two team in the country right now is is potentially going to miss the game. And I will. If you tested negative for 33 days, you know, not within 24 hour periods. And guess what you can you can coach. I don't think that that's gonna happen because I don't know if he's tested negative. They haven't given any results. Somebody. They have said. This is from the athletic department over at Alabama. They have said that he is under the care of their physician and that he looked great and he's asymptomatic, But they haven't revealed negative test. So I guess it feels like it just kind of got inserted this week because they don't want Nick Saban to miss his game. But I mean, it's good. That's going to be a big story line, I think is the story line at least to start the game. Yeah, I mean, well, the game is the game is this Is the story, but you need to start the broadcast all the court the idea that's going to be the primary set up and it's hard to like It's hard to predict what's going to happen. Like what? You know what Steve Sarkisian is the offensive coordinator. He is thie in. You know this, this game's head coaching. Sometimes the interim. It is what it is. He's the villain head coach for this game. And he's got obviously experience because he was head coach at USC and, you know, had some success has been a really good offense coordinator. He kind has been one of the architects along with Lane Kiffin of making Alabama's offense modern like they are dreaming for a long time. I mean, they were They were old school. It was rough. Yeah, Trying to think of the quarterback who want Greg McElroy know was like after him, Right right after that, Yeah. You want a national championship and I want to say he threw for like I mean, under 2000 yards in the season, he's in the NFL. Remember headed? I can't think of his name now slipping my mind but a TTE that point it was all about, Let's we're gonna run the ball 40 times a game and play great defense instead. Now you look at this Alabama offense. It's It's so I'd open. I mean, they're spread all the way across the field there, running backs catch the ball out of the backfield, and it's feels modern. And a lot of that is because of Steve Sarkisian. Who is who is filling in the challenge, though, is it? Steve Sarkisian has only had to worry about about being the offense of coordinate about calling a place agent McCarren. That's why I was thinking of beating at McCarran. Jeez, forget Brent Mussburger. Exactly exactly talking about his well girl now meant exactly, but, you know, back in the Agent McCarren days, they were old school man. It was kind of part of watch them offensively now it's really fun to watch him are offensively but Steve Sarkisian now The added task of making in game decisions because the only communication that's allowed us from the booth down to the sidelines and includes electronic communication. So could he have, as I watch and be sneaking? You know, info from his I want you out of the way. I don't think risk that I don't think you would. But what? What coach? Aside from adhering to the ethical whatever. Why wouldn't you try? It's so easy to deal with that. Then I'm going to give me your phone and let me check it true, But think about what Think about house out of the bull boy. True, But think about how out of touch you are. If you're not on a sideline, you know, you know you're not feeling the moment you're not feeling you're not feeling now. The energy of your team. You can't sense The ebb and flow of the game. Watching it on TV is so different and that's where obviously next, David is going to have to watch. This is on his TV if you're making decisions from afar. I think almost if you're Steve Sarkisian and you, you you're tasked with making that decision. Live you You're more likely to second guess them because you think you did your armchair quarterback right now. You know you don't know what's going on. You don't know the emotional lift that my team might need the team might need right now. I know it's your team, but you're not here and so like how Steve Sarkisian coat Sarkeesian deals with that is going to be, I think. You know, not trying not to think like saving and think like himself is going to be one of the hardest things he's going to deal with this weekend. Yeah, but if he thinks like himself, he's not saving. I know that. Is that a good thing for the for the Alabama team? Don't you wantto kind of mirror? What do you think Nick would do? So It's not foreign? Yeah, when you communicate that to the guys true, But I mean what This team is pretty veteran, especially when they return. Their entire offense of lining was one new starter on their offensive line. They so they have the like this veteran nature To their to their offense and the receiving cores. We've talked about many times on the show, BT there is dynamic is there are Mack Jones is very poised. Running back's been there for a while. Yeah, Naji hair has been there forever, and John Robinson is even I think he's think he's a senior. So he's there. He's there, too. So they like their forestall their tight and they're all like, really good. They've been there for a couple of years. You're not worried about how do I get this young man ready to play? They know what it takes. Right? So the challenge for Alabama this year has been defensively one of the worst in the S E. C. And all. Miss Kerr carved him up. That's right. And so the the good thing If you're Obama fan is that George is not explosive like that. They have some good players. But they're not explosives. That's in Bennett, who's one of great stories in college football. This year. He's 5 £1192.95 pound note floating with small to know, but he Doug Flutie head like this athleticism that was ridiculous. Heat out of 88. Sets have been. It's not that he's a great game manager for them and he doesn't make any mistakes. And so they rely on running the football and playing defense. Would they have one of the best in football right now? Second righted, scoring defense and Imbues fifth rate in second overall, but they have a great defense down at Georgia, so you gotta heat you're gonna have the clashes without necks,.
Alabama coach Nick Saban and athletic director Greg Byrne test positive for COVID-19
"Nick Saban, the head football coach at Alabama has tested positive for covert 19 what we know right now, J. We know that he says he found out earlier this afternoon and in a statement that the school released earlier today, he says that he is asymptomatic. So we found out went home immediately. He is working from home and offensive coordinator Steve Sarkeesian will oversee preparations at the complex. As he says In that statement, Also the athletic director of the University of Alabama Greg Burn, says he has tested positive today as well. He tested positive this morning. He He says that he wanted to self isolation immediately. We've been diligent about mask worrying and social distancing from the start and want to continue to encourage you all to take the necessary precautions to help stop the spread of the virus for yourself and those around you. So this is the first coach in the SEC to get it, especially this close to a game and face use. Mike Norville also had it earlier this year. But they played the game without him. So we'll see if that's what happens between Georgia, Alabama, but right now still scheduled for eight o'clock

"I was going to. But you really don't want to take him if they have Cove. It Okay, what They have one guy what they have to guys. I don't know what they were sent home. That's all I know. Getting Randy market will find spot reports on the top producer producer, veteran newsman Randy Merkin all over a lady's giants of the Giants. Good to go are the giant's going to be playing. Who the hell knows? Come Sunday. The giant like over it. They might rivalry game here. Victor's teammates hoping that other teammates get called it so they don't have to watch him play quarterback. It could be the Giants Jason Garrett goes back to Big D is the offensive coordinator. You want to talk about a putrid offense? I mean, how about Giants offense? It's They're averaging fewer than 12 points a game, Mike, they're getting 8.5 points in a rivalry game on the road in Dallas. Believe it or not, the eight have might be too much, though, because Dallas is defense can't stop anybody right now. They are a sieve. Defensively. This ain't on dack dack in the offense doing its job. The defense has been dreadful when you're laying over a touchdown. I don't know A cz bad is the Giants have been. I don't know how you lay that many points of the defense That's been is bad as Dallas is first of all. This teaches everybody a lesson. No man if he's a rookie deserves a nickname. Dante. Dying Time's Alright alright. The Giants and Dale's the Giant's getting eight half I'd leave Dallas I would leave to play. It's a tough game to play. I'd leave. If I had the better get, Prescott is still gotta play. He's playing every game for his future. Okay, and there's nothing better. Then a guy that's got talent and heart and I think he does who's come from nowhere and who's been doubted. When a guy gets playing for his future, and I think that if if push comes to shove, I would take Dallas over the Giants in the college late this weekend, Mikey, we briefly touch down Notre Dame, Florida state earlier Notre Dame's Lane a big number in this classic rivalry game. You know, this was so good in the nineties. You got a three touchdown spread here. Notre Dame's lanes. Anyone against the Florida State's theme that's still struggling to find its way did have a win last week, but it came against Jacksonville State. Other than that, just one into Mike Norville has got a lot of work to do, and I think he's figuring that out. He even had to call his guys out for a bad practice this weekend. They're getting ready for Notre Dame, and he's won 20 straight in South Bend, by the way. Big number to cover, not a game..

"Short, 30 is ready for his appearance coming up in about 18 or 19 minutes. Get you some winners. Hopefully and take this. You know, Dickie has been All over the college football and listen, and I just know this from college basketball. There is nothing like traveling and going to venues. And even though there's no fans there or limited fans talking to coaches, Tiki And then you know, you watch kids play with your own eyes, and you take mental notes in addition to the written ones, and then you see them play another week, and you can kind of put all these thoughts together and piece together the early part of the season. You've been doing a great job with with the college football. This is the first weekend that you said you're not traveling, right? Yep. I'm home this weekend, which is great. He has a birthday week. It's not just a birthday birthday were weak. Worked at a weak What is the birthday week? Intel Wellit's a dinner party tomorrow night is what it is. So it's gotta be fun. It's in house, so we're not going out anywhere, but it's just it's a week celebrate my wife. I bet you that it's not nearly as expensive as Anniversary week is going to be for the next week. That number right number 10 0/10 Anniversary Kratz man She put up with you for what's ahead. She actually cares that I she actually pretends. Care that about the team that I'm not talking about any more, But everybody knows the team I'm talking about. She actually pretends to care about them and pretend about how I feel after like, last night or any other Sunday win, that team rips my heart out. Put an extra Scotch. Oh, yeah, I don't like to drink during the week much I had I poured one Scott's last night. You know that. I'm not gonna get plastered too, buddy. I did You know where I spent my day part of my day today We're looking at diamonds. 10th anniversary is a big one. But it is you know, I do. I do. You've got to come correct. By the way, Diesel birthday's Tomorrow. Tomorrow d So Happy Birthday 32 32. You're 32 right December 32 32 years old Marlowe as well, Although it was well, Marlowe's out today, so we she doesn't see this in person. But Happy Earth Day. Yes, Of course she's always do she's following the shows he's doing. Happy Birthday, Marlowe. Happy Birthday D C and D Sell What's on the agenda tomorrow night. I have no idea what my wife well, I mean, it's so hard. It really is hard to do something special for anybody to think We're going to sit on the other side of the house today. I'm not. I mean, you know, honestly, that's what it comes down to. Well, what I was thinking of doing, you know, you know, the River Cafe on the Brooklyn side, right? That's where I proposed to Gen. 10 years ago and but open that's what you gotta figure out. I could I could get a table even though you know, usually like three or four months out. I could get a table. But you know you want to go into another restaurant? Do you want to go from the jersey to Brooklyn? There's to your point. It's really hard to celebrate a real achievement. And there's communions and there's confirmations. And there's Bob mitzvahs. And there's also weddings, of course, engagement parties. Gender reveal party's over which, by the way, I've got a little nuts all virtual Which is which is miserable. I agree. It's not the emotions, not the same. No. The humanization of these events is what makes these events what you remember. Yeah. So I hear you, but he's so happy birthday, but I did not know that 32 years young for Ah, future producer Decell moving up the ranks. He's always ready. So this weekend Beaty now I'm not doing any games this weekend. Or next weekend, but I will be at a fantastic one in three weekends. So the 17th so two weeks from now, two weeks and two days from now Alabama is hosting Georgia. What's brings because the S E C is it's really it's the interesting Um, conference right now. We talked earlier BT about the A. C C. Virginia plays Clemson this Saturday. By the way, you get a chance. Yeah, I have to because it's their new day. It's a different quarterback Brandon Armstrong, who throws the ball a lot more like a lot more effectively. If Noah had a couple interceptions last weekend against Duke, then Bryce Petty Bryson Perkins did Bryce because it was a runner was it was all Can you get it done with his legs? Every now and then we'll we'll mix in some passing. This team is balanced, like they've had a good defense the last couple of years, But the team is balanced this year offensively, so I'll give them a shot. Question. Is Clemson just their explosive man? I mean, Trevor Laurence plays bad for a quarter and then still ends up with 320 something yards because they have such big, big time play. So I give Virginia a chance, but I mean for them to win is going to take a Herculean perfect upper efforts. Clinton As we mentioned earlier, there's a class of the A C C and they will be, and that's including Notre Dame. That's including Miami, who I have a high regard for after their first three games, they have bye week. Then they play Clinton, so we'll see. What comes in is made up against their A C C opponent in Virginia. But Alabama This is this is one of the more interesting games this weekend one because we know what Alabama is even losing to a tongue by Loa. Mack Jones played really well last week in jail in Guatemala is a star just like Jerry, Judy and On Henry Drugs before him. Naja Harris is still there. But Texas A and M is their opponent, Beatty and Jimbo Fisher, bounced from Florida State won a championship. With James Winston at Florida State stayed for two more seasons, I think had two more and then basically said all right, I'm out because he saw what was coming like recruiting was falling apart a little bit. He kind of abandoned them, and we stand for state is in their dumpster fire right now. Mike Norville, I think fixes that in time because he's a really good coach Mike Norville, but He's got to get the talent in there. But the the question becomes Jimbo Fisher in his in his third year now at Texas A and M is Is he going to prove that he was worth? You know the movies? Is it worth it to toe live? Can he lift this Texas A and M program and he has some good players, And this is that this is their opportunity this weekend, Teo to play the Alabama Crimson Tide. It's early in the season because we all know you know how Alabama schedules on DH. We know how Texas ain't him, you know, with Jimbo Fisher is looking to schedule get a big win early in the season and and and then it carries you through out. But a Jimbo Fisher comes out in this team. This Texas and Maggie squad lays an egg. We gotta start questioning whether or not Jimbo Fisher, you know is can do what he did at floor state at Texas A and M It's a little bit different. In the A. C. C. You know, recruiting against a couple of program versus the SEC. Will your recruiting against a ton of them? Whether it's all burn in Georgia and Alabama Ellis you now Michael details in the Mississippi state. He's going to start getting some some great talent simply because he's there. Lane Kiffin. And old Miss who's been historically, you know, a good recruiter in Florida University of Florida, like the S E..

"Three or four yard game again. Jordan Travis is a redshirt sophomore out of nearby West Palm Beach, and they're using various ways to do used in various ways. A lot of people thought at some point he may supplant James Blackmon at quarterback as they try to be more diverse with their offense. We'll see how this plays out throughout this game. Blackman, the quarterback, much maligned in his three seasons by Florida State fans, in particular. This direction. Handoff running left up to the 45. Maybe the 50 slipped down or else he might have had a bigger game on the outside. That was on Terry A. Wilson on the inside handoff who may have gone for much more than the seven or eight yards. Had he kept his feet. Yeah, that's not gonna look good on film study because he had nothing but green grass in front of him, but he tripped over the turf. Speaking of trips, trips receivers to the right for Florida state. They move left in the opening quarter, their first possession, trailing seven nothing and and fires. Complete out of bounds near the first down marker. James Blackmon was 23 43 in the lost two weeks ago for 198 yards, and that was Corvin out of the backfield on the catch on it is a pick up Ah, about three yards. Call it second and seven at the Miami 46 for the state moving left in the opening quarter at Hard Rock Stadium about 10,000 fans socially distance, You'll hear them the pitch to Corbyn. He's got a black on the outside, lowers the head first down and down to about 32 yard line. It looks like that Kenny, dealing him the acting offensive coordinator for this game, Mike Norville usually calls the plays. Is employing a rental Ashley strategy playing up tempo. They're back on the ball after every single play is done. Get the next snap on great Black by the live receiver Cameron McDonald, a swing Corbin wide for the game. Here's Blackman take of the staff rolling out right on first down, pulling his way down to about 30 and diving forward again. We're at an awkward angle. I'll keep mentioning this where depth perception is a challenge. We're watching TV's It looked like that Blackman had about a three yard gain There is he went diving forward, and it brings up second down and seven. James Blackmon is not a fluid runner. He can escape and use his legs, but it's not. What they want him to be doing is second and six for Blackman, who's a lanky 65 £200 quarterback, and he is under pressure and fires out of bounds on the right sideline in front of a mighty big. That was excellent pressure coming. On the blitz through the middle by the Entre Smith, a sophomore at a West Palm Beach, Florida brings up Yeah, counter. Smith is one of those extra safety type players who comes into the backfield for the University of Miami, essentially to do exactly what he just did by the quarterback put big hits on run games or tight end's coming across the Norden. Travis Tiki is the quarterback here. We've got four receivers left. So Travis lined up his receiver, a couple of plays earlier. He's the quarterback. Third in six. They need the Miami 24 moving left. It's a four man front for the caves. Travis takes the staff fakes looks to run ducks inside lowers they had down on.

"First Tiki Barber to start this football game for Chris Thompson tonight. He's in there again. Might Norville by rule can have no contact with his team once they're at the stadium. Elektronik, please zoom phone. Nothing. So Chris Thompson, it's his game to manage. He is also a former successful division two head coaches well in Abilene. Christian had them in the playoffs several times to tell me about the burden real quick. He's been around the game for a really long time 23 years as a coach, and he will be charged with managing at this Florida state team, But the play calling duties will be Taken on by Kenny Willingham, who is a young offense of court coordinator. He's up and coming. He usually shares this play calling duty with Mike Norville, who we all know when he was in Memphis is his coach. Norville was one of the most prolific offenses in college football. 42 points per game he averages. He, along with Nick Saban are one of two programs over the last four years, five years that have averaged 500 points a season so His previous generations of offense were spectacular. This Florida state one has to work it needs to do alright. Florida State will kick it off here with Parker Roadhouse to send things away for the Miami Hurricanes. They have two guys deep in the opening kickoff, sponsored by farmers get a whole lot of something with farmers policy perch for discounts and benefits to average average are two added coverage is rather call 1 800 farmers to learn more about policy perch from farmers insurance and get a quote. Today. The state will move to our left in this opening half on Parker Growed House gets the game underway with a kick off.

"Mikey. What do you want to kick us off here? What do we like for the weekend? You know what I used to go with. I went with the under. I mean security over today in the Pittsburgh New York giant game today with Carmen and Miracle folks. I'm going with the Giants, plus the +62 Giants, plus two six in their game. Also, I think Pittsburgh is getting over valued here. And I am also going to and I shouldn't probably do this. But you know, Arizona seems to be Ah, early favorite here by a lot of people. I think San Francisco lights them up. I think San Francisco minus 27. I'm Fran minus 27. There you go. Okay. I like I'm gonna give you a first half under here. That has been the trend early on in the primetime games. We talked about it a lot last year on the first half under came in last night, and I'm gonna give you the prime time one on Sunday night As the Rams play host to the Cowboys, the first half total is 25 a half. I like the first half under in Rams Cowboys this weekend, and then I got a college game in the Yes, The Mike Norville era begins in Tallahassee, and he's going to try to change the culture down there in Florida State. After a couple of really awful years, I mean far removed from Other glory years to say the least. But they are hosting Georgia Tech at a terrible year last year, and they're still kind of working things out on her new coach, Ditching the triple option for the first time in forever, the Knowles are laying 13 at home. And I think Florida State with just a better roster, and a new coach in a new attitude, gets things off on the right foot and wins by at least two touchdowns and covers the 13. Yeah, that's a nice picture. What for? You folks out there. Just take a look at North Carolina. Minus. I think 2023 totally with you on that. Yeah, it's college football. It's weird on pro football. I mean, it's a cornucopia. Ladies and gentlemen, it's all happened, and we hope everybody enjoys all the action this week. I remember if you have missed anything. The podcast will be up on the ESPN Chicago lap. You'll get the replay in the morning and eight o'clock. Thank you, too. Randy Merkin and Sean Davis. "Mike Norville very good coach benches kinda surprised that he's still in the group of five to be honest based on, you know, some of the winds he's had last couple years. But I don't think MRs going to go to a bowl this season for eight. And then Arkansas, that's kind of a program, where right now under Chad Morris, there's nowhere to go. But up and I think that the soft non conference as can really help the Razorbacks this season. Really Brad, some help stay as a lover of certain types of lists. I'm not crazy about just the idol is these are two of the best. I've seen in while hope you'll come back soon. Thank you, Brad, thanks for the kind words man, really. Good stuff. Well, I mean some, some really some good meat to, to dive into their listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Neil Blackman joining us from Sarah down, south always great to catch up with a couple of topics including soccer. We want to start with Florida football Neil. Thank you, for, for joining us know you've done a deep dive into a number of subjects. Let's start with the Gators wild wildly different and diverse expectations and predictions for them. Right now take us through your thought process. Who I think it just it all starts with the offense of line. All I think a lot of the reason that the predictions are kind of all over the place right now is, you know, you lose you lose Joon Taylor, the first round NFL draft these March has, I've you for your starter, some tackles dawn, and they only return one starter affront, if they can get that sorted out. John heavy one of the best position coaches, you know, really well respected. So if they can get that sorted out. I think that the playmakers are there, which hasn't been the case, but they've got to get that figured out, you go back and say that they may have more playmakers than this program has had in. Concertedly long time. Yep. I think it's I think it's the most they've had since since the Meyer era since goes in school two thousand nine or two thousand eight even just because you have so many, you got at least two or three guys in the receiver core. Trayvon Grimes to think is gonna be a breakout player band. Jefferson. Everybody knows about kid area's Tony was the first Florida player since Percy Harbin average, a first down of touch in with more than forty five touches. So the good sample size average the first town, every time he touched the ball, and then we'll Michael p Rhine is, is one of the best running backs in the SEC guy that, that grinds and really gets yards after contact, and I think somebody that's kind of moving up NFL boards, just 'cause it's he's such a fluid runner and and has gotten tough yards against good teams..

"To great great tradition. And we will have that for you this evening as the Tigers take on the Tigers. And it should be a fun evening out at liberty bowl memorial stadium as head coach Mike Norville overseas doesn't really do much in the way of air fingers, quote, coaching so to speak as it's a night to take a look at the Tigers during spring practice and have a little bit of fun in the scrimmage had to be good. Thank you forced and our coaches, Dave lotion and Jennifer square and who else Jeff Calkins joins day and doc Holliday joins Jarboe. Oh, wow. Okay. So to former players in to talking heads. Okay. Okay. That'll be. That'd be kind of fun. It'd be interesting to see what their takes are spending so much time on the sidelines or in the press box and seeing what it's like to be at ground level him those plays and. I can't wait to I can't wait to hear relations take on that during the game. And we're what what time will coverage beginning because the strike. That's it starts at what seven we started. We started seven seven eight tonight. Okay. All right. And that's that's more than enough especially for spring game. And assume we'll we'll get looks from Brady white, and hopefully they'll be some competition at the quarterback spot because a rising tide lifts all boats. That's a that's a man you sound like you could coach. In sports, you've got to have cliches, if you're going to be a sports broadcaster broadcast coach or any of that you have to be able to give a lot of credit to a lot of people, and you don't have to use not the superlative, but the comparative type as although there are more than two they are one of the better players out there. And also you have to be able to use the plural is when you're talking about universities because you've got your Memphis is you've got your own MRs you've got your Kentucky's right of though, there's really only one of each you have to be able to do that. And then you have to really state the obvious. You know, if we can just if we put a few more points on the board and keep them with fewer points. We got a good chance of winning this Tigers undefeated when leading after four quarters. That's right. Yeah. Into four querying sounding. What's that Yogi Berra? Thank you very much today. Not Yogi bear Yogi Berra. Yes. Yes. And we got some I think we got some baseball on this date in history to some Yankee baseball. But, but you know, when you think about it though. The with as many world championships head if it's not if it's not the Yankees or the cardinals or a new team starting up this time of year. You're not going to get any baseball state in history in those two most dominant teams right there. And then they throw in a cage Nally Cincinnati and Oakland 'cause they were dominant in the seventies. But that's. Pretty much pretty much your baseball story. So we get more details of Julian Assange, and we were wondering yesterday what book is that that he's got in his hand as he's getting hold out of the Ecuadorian embassy. It was a book by gore Vidal yesterday history of the national security state, which is which includes Vidal on America some wondering if that's going to be an Amazon bestseller out of curiosity. But of all the things he's you know, I don't know if he's got some coded messages in there. You know, maybe he's got some coupons. You know, maybe he's got a shift in there. That's kind of cut out, you know, as he goes to jail on maybe a love letter from fans who knows? But the story is he's going to get extradited to the us. That's part of the agreement. I guess with with with Ecuador and. He says it's all a setup and some of the details. I guess I guess either the information or whatever kind of payment he had in exchange for asylum. There is I guess that all dried up, and this is going to be a fascinating fascinating story to to follow his charge a computer hacking. And of course, you saw the pictures yesterday as he was dragged out of the embassy, and and he has been at the forefront of of leaking out some some massive secrets over the last decade. Right, right. That's one of the top stories also route that you can still wear out your welcome. Even if you're Juliet Assange. Yes. Yes. And I guess he's got this. He's got this. I guess it's a real beard. I don't know if he was trying to. I mean, it, you know, all that time he was so clean shaven in in his interviews when he'd hang out with Sean Hannity and hid do Skype with other media, but he has this beard. I guess that. He let let go. And now he looks like scared old ground ball. Memphis morning news six twelve camera Clifton up next. Good morning.
