"That's good, yeah. I'm an American, most of my knowledge of Europe comes from crusader kings three. So here we are. Luxembourg's population is 632,000. And here in the United States, we mock several states for being essentially blips, Rhode Island, Wyoming, et cetera but Rhode Island has way more population than the whole country of Luxembourg. So I'm going to walk around with my hell straight. There you go. Thank you. 80% of those are gap EU govern government people. Is that really who lives in Luxembourg? It is. Yeah. It's a bigger impact. And their economy is really skewed toward big dollar financial tech companies. But it's true. There are neighborhoods in Los Angeles that are bigger than Luxembourg. Shout out Luxembourg though. Can I get like 6 people on a goat and form my own country and join the EU because apparently the standards are low population wise, this should be a hack. I am going to get email from Luxembourg, now who are going to be pissed at you. That's fine. What language is it? It's a lovely country though. I've never been to where is it French? It's a French language. It's French language. Language. Yeah, I'm sure it's gorgeous. It's a duchy. So let's get that straight. It's very dutchy. Surrounded by Belgium France and Germany. That's where the Ardennes forests, the rocky gorges of the Muller tall region, and the moselle river valley. Oh, it's near Brussels. That's why that's why it's EU. Your Google's offering me this there's people also ask, how did Luxembourg get so rich? Well, European Union apparently is pouring money in their view of bureaucrats. Yeah, and a favorable tax regime. I'm moving to Luxembourg. Yeah. It sounds nice. This sounds good. And cheap iPhones too. No, the iPhones cost the same, but they're as a percentage of your income. They're cheap. All right, let's take a little break. Wow, I have learned so much in this show. This is fantastic. She is analyst and clearly knows of which she speaks. I want to ask you a little bit about the Apple event when we come back and just the experience of being back in the Steve Jobs theater. Alex Wilhelm also here, he's editor in chief of the new tech crunch plus, which you launched, right? I joined 6 or 8 months after it came out. But I've been working on it since late 2019. Nice. Does the ghost of Mike arrington hunt the halls there? You know, we've been bought and sold by so many mega corps, tech crunch over the years that I think we've had to reinvent our soul several times. And I think it's gotten better over time. Who owns TechCrunch? Currently, we are part of Yahoo, which is the former Verizon media group, which was formed out of the collision of Yahoo and AOL, back when it was called os under horizon. And now we're owned by Apollo, which is a private equity group. Yes. Okay. So really, almost all the tech publications now are owned either by public equity, either red ventures or Apollo, right? Yes. Yes, this is why substack still will always no matter how much they make me mad, we'll have a place in my heart for building an indie place for people to just scribble. Yeah. Speaking of Indies, we have our favorite scribbler, our gastro nomad, mister Mike elkin is here in Barcelona actually sits just outside of Barcelona this week. On his way to Morocco and you still write for the tech press, but you're a freelancer. So you don't have to worry about that. Right, equity. Right, I've been writing for some of the usual suspects. I've added a couple new folks. And I also love substack. So substack has been very good to me. And yeah, I have a lot of fun writing on that for the same reasons that Alex pointed out. So yeah, it's great. It's great to be it's great to be a freelancer and have a diversified income streams and all that stuff really. Really enjoy it. So you moved Mike's list to substack win. Two years ago. Wow. Okay. So that was a good move. Yes. Very good. Nice. I mean, Mike's list is a bad idea. In general, because it's so hard and that end result, most of it is so frivolous. I read a serious piece and then I have a bunch of funny stuff. And the funny stuff is so hard to do. And it's totally not worth it. But it's worth it because I personally enjoy it. But as. An effort to impact ratio, it's a little off the charts. But I love it. We're glad you do it. I appreciate it. You still do Mike's nice list, right? Or Mike's nice photos, what is it called the mics? It's called the nice book. Nice book. Yes, and I occasionally dip in there and add some fresh things. It's a replacement for Facebook. It's a nice Facebook. But I tried to do it. You can Google photos. And so yeah, it's good. I've got a few hundred people who follow it regularly. And yeah, it's pretty great. All my personal photos and stuff. This is the place to go to visit all the various places Mike visits now. And do you miss, do you miss Google photos at all? I mean, Facebook at all? Not at all. They actually, this is kind of an interesting thing. They actually locked me out. So I was going to do the thing where once a year, you go in and reactivate your account that deactivate it just to keep ownership up. They got tired of that. And they just locked me out. And so we're on to your game, Mike. So now I'm just like, ah, forget it. I don't miss it. I don't miss it. Although I was at a dinner last night where four people, I was the only one not on Facebook. And they were all talking about how fun it is. And I felt a little left out. I have to say. Yeah. Well, one of my favorite Reddit Facebook. Pardon me? It's new to have a special Facebook that is spun? No, I guess, yeah, that was my I should have asked them. What do you mean? Fun. Really funny. There's a subreddit that sort of mocks pseudoscience and outrageous claims flat earth. There's all this kind of stuff. And it's called a Facebook science. That's the name of the suburb. I'm following it right now. It sounds like a very good name. Let me do slash R slash Facebook science. I can't find it. Oh, I forgot the last I put the slash in the wrong spot. We're going to take a little break, come back with more with our fabulous panel, but first a word from noom. One of the people we were at dinner with last night, I didn't recognize. I hadn't seen him because of COVID. I saw him maybe two years ago. And he went on our cruise. And I had messaged him. And I said, I thought you were going on the cruise. I don't see you. He said, I'm right here. He was 60 pounds. He shaved his beard, too. But he lost 60 pounds. And he said, how did you do that? He said, noom. At to which Lisa, my wife said, I love Newman. I said, I love doom too. Noom. Our sponsor for this segment of this week in tech is a great way not to diet, but to understand why you eat how you eat, and so that you can eat more healthily. When we decide to lose weight, it shouldn't just be about a number on the scale. It should be about learning to eat right. And noom's psychology first approach focuses on that. They empower you to build a more sustainable habit of relationship with food that has lasting results. To date, and it really works. It worked for me. I lost 20 pounds. Lisa didn't have as much to lose, but she's kept it off. She said, the lowest weight, she's been in 30 years. Noom wait has helped more than 3.6 million people lose weight. But every one of us is different, and that's what's so great about noom.

"Leo Laporte the tech guy. Thanks, Mike. Nice to talk to you. So yeah, so everything works. I know you're, oh, he hung up. Well, he's still listening. I know, I know you're a fan of the x86. I mean, of the Windows on arm on the Mac. An early on. I don't have much need. No, that's okay. I know you're here. I don't have much need to use Windows. I'm happy to say what I've probably not on my M1. Did you get an M1, did you get the studio max or the ultra? What did you get, Mike? I'm very happy with my max. I don't see leases ultra being a whole heck of a lot faster. Well, I got this Dell is going to be a Windows machine until I got the max. Yeah, that's what I that's what I'm using. I like it a lot. You're right. It's great. I just don't feel a lot of reason to put. Well, I guess if you wanted to use access, oh, Doug, you got the ultra. Wow, yeah, a little overkill. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I think also, apple's huge lead now with M1 is not going to last forever. Well, there's Scott Wilkinson. Hello, Scott. Hello, Leo. I have a question to ask you. Yes. So Joanna does. A singing teacher or a voice coach. You know, there's a good question there. 'cause I need a voice coach. Oh, she is a voice coach. Okay, I want to hire her. Exactly what she is. So this is how it came up. So my daughter has nodes. She went to an ENT. When she was in high school, they did Balkan singing. That really hurt her voice. And now that she's doing stand up, but she's always been very talkative anyway. And she's got nodes. She's trying desperately to voice rest and she's going to end up going to a voice coach. But I as Joanna's specialty actually. Well, and I'll refer to Joanna too. But it made me think, I've never done anything along those lines. And you know what I'm concerned about? Bad symptoms or anything. I don't have nodes. And I don't get horse, and I think I'm okay. But I also have no training. And I thought, maybe be time to pay attention to that, especially as I get older, 'cause what I don't want, you hear it all the time, as people age, their voice gets thin. Oh, absolutely. And is that avoidable? Yes, it is. But it's such a common problem. I want to keep using this is my only ability. I realized how foolish I have been, you know, not taking this seriously over the last 40 years..

"With Jason gannon He's the managing director of soap 5 stadium a host of Super Bowl 56 the first let's start with former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores He has filed a lawsuit accusing the league and teams of violating civil rights laws alleging discrimination in the hiring process And for more let's bring in our sports law expert Marty itel He's with ghoulston and stores sports law practice He's co chair and a law professor at Columbia Marty welcome to the show Michael it's so nice to be here Thank you for having me Mike nice to speak with you and Scarlett it's a pleasure to meet you This is totally rock the league Your thoughts first of all on the impact of this lawsuit and what it means for the game Let me start off by what the naked allegations are what Brian Flores has claimed was systemic racism in the hiring and maintenance of head coaches in the NFL This is huge Whether the lawsuit itself has any gains any traction is another question which we can get to if you'd like later But right now the public relations fallout has to be overwhelmingly against the NFL That being the case there are a couple of charges he makes in his suit He talks about how he was ordered to tank games so that the dolphins could get a higher draft pick He was kind of ordered by the owner He also alleges and this is the more blockbuster charge I guess is that he was only interviewed by certain NFL clubs so that they could check the box under the Rooney rule And that he was not really a serious candidate for the head coach job as revealed by texts from Bill Belichick the head coach of the New England Patriots Which charge is harder to prove in a court of law So let me take it in two bites if I may Scarlett first of all the claim that mister Flores has made about tanking games is really difficult to understand why that would be in a discrimination lawsuit And it's problematic of his entire complaint that he throws a lot of claims in there and they may have legs to them But he throws a lot of claims which really have no basis in discrimination claim But cast the NFL in a poor light So if you go to then the second point that you mentioned which is sham interviews I think that's what mister Flores refers to them in his complaint That could be more significant Because you have the Rooney rule It was a rule that was adopted in 2003 and amended two years ago which requires NFL teams to interview a minimum of two minority candidates for a head coaching position If it is the truth as mister floris claims which will have the chance to take discovery on of his case survives It will be interesting to see whether this was just a series of sham interviews And a number of owners did not have any interest in hiring M minority candidate or if he just didn't stack up with some of the other candidates Hi Marty again this is Mike lynch up in Boston So you use the word traction How does this lawsuit get traction All right so a great question So what mister Flores has done is he's filed a claim which is called a class action And into it he's thrown a whole bunch of allegations You're going to see a concerted effort Once we get beyond the public relations part you're going to see a concerted effort by the defendant First to say that this does not this is not an appropriate claim for a class action That's going to delay resolution for an amount of time 6 months a year maybe a year and a half While the defendants are able to take what's called class discovery which does not go to the merits So the case will be in this legal limbo for that time If it is determined that Brian Flores has a viable class action then it will likelihood the defendants will move to dismiss the claims under the applicable law Again delaying resolution on the merit or even taking discovery on the merits for the period of time that the motion to dismiss needs to get decided probably another 6 months or so So as you can tell we're talking about an extended period of time before mister Flores's lawsuit can really see the light of day in terms of whether he's able to take what we call merits discovery or discovery on the merits And that's only assuming he survives those two motions that I just mentioned So that's what I meant by traction If he gets to the point where he can take merits discovery then there's going to be questions about what information is confidential and can't be disclosed to of all folks The media Or the consuming public And what is their game for disclosure Probably another set of motions and delays Before you get to the point at which the parties can get evidence to prove their claims From where you sit having practice law and covered the sports industry at large sports law over all not limited to the NFL What is specific about the culture of the NFL that has led to this that hasn't led to a similar problem in the MLB and NBA I have pondered over that For literally decades now without coming to a hard and fast conclusion I'd like to think it is not systemic racism in the NFL I think the NFL itself as an entity has tried to pave the way for opportunities for people of color for people who are not of color but it hasn't worked I'm not sure why Once upon a time I would have said that it's because the NFL has a group of owners which aren't as varied as some of the ownership interests elsewhere They had fewer corporations and more individuals and ownership positions Than some of the other leagues But that really isn't the case anymore And there certainly are very qualified people of color who could be head coaches Marty it'll ghoulston and stores sports law practice co chair and Columbia law professor You are the man and you are always our sports law expert thank you sir Thank you so much for "Slow motion four to one on the morning line and the final leg of today's mandatory payout Rainbow Six at Gulfstream. That's right. It all has to go. So a good day to be playing the races down in South Florida and nobody knows that better than our friend Ron nicoletti, who is on top of all the action down there. Fantastic handicapper, he's put his pick 6 ticket together. This interview, as I welcome Ronnie to the show, brought to you by our friends at jellyfish water. Ronnie good morning, my friend. Good morning, Mike. Nice. Nice to talk to you. Excited for this Rainbow Six today. Whenever you get these mandatory payout days, it just kind of it takes things to a new level, doesn't it? Yeah, it really does. The excitement just ratchets up and they're expecting a little over three $1 million to bet into going in. We got 450,000 live money. So, you know, that's adds to it. So it's up for the taking. And what is interesting about this one is this is the first time with a mandatory payout that four of the 6 races are on the new to Peter surface. So I find that totally interesting. And it's a new situation down here. So it's going to take a little bit of handicapping to get this thing done. Have you noticed any trends that folks can keep an eye on when it comes to those races on the tepida? Yeah, you know, we've been watching them and in the beginning, the first couple of weeks because the track has to settle. It was just basically mid race stock is or closers, and it seemed to level out. We had like just a spurt where four or 5 races of the FrontRunner one. So it seems to be loving it out and there's no like an old bias, we say, oh, it's speed. You got to have your speed. It seems to be pretty good. It's really a jockey's race on the torpedo. With the fact that we have the new whip rule. So you just got to sort of get your horse in the right position to make that charge down the stretch. The most amazing thing about it, Mike, is the second day it was and we had one of these belly washes here in South Florida, which we've been dealing with and that track was perfect. It was one of the same I don't know if this is going to work out and it has been fed path so far. As far as when it's raining. Now it's a slow track. We know that it takes 36 months to a year to get it to where they want it. So it's been fun. Yeah, that is one of the benefits of an artificial racing surface that Ronnie is the plan that say, for example, the championship meet, if we get a day where it pours down rain like you just talked about. And let's face it, they happen in South Florida. If we get a date like that, races are taken off the turf. Will they be moved to the tepida surface so that some of these Terra forces stay in and we keep bigger fields? Yeah, absolutely. That's the plan. And I don't think they're going to write the plan is not to write that many to Peter races for in the card, maybe one a day, but it's basically going to be used for exactly what you said. The last two days here in South Florida, in the afternoon, it's been pouring, you know? So we were making a joke yesterday that they should have taken the main track races up and put them on. It was perfect yesterday. You know what, it's a new situation. It's been fun handicap and, you know, sometimes you scratching your head, but that's what makes it all more fun. When you look at a day like today, and you have that mandatory payout in the Rainbow Six. Change the way you approach structuring your ticket and the horses that you choose? Yes. Because absolutely. I wanted to tickets I put together is what I can afford basically during the week. I don't like to put up a $200 ticket. For the folks out there, the best if they don't leave me to tell them if they spent $200 on a ticket, so I like to keep it $40 $30. But when it comes to day like this, you know, it's beautiful question. Not dealing with any takeouts or anything. You guys send it in. So I'll get a $100 ticket as I'll put it together. Now if I get a partner or something like that. And you know, the key to this I found is you got to find that one race where you might be able to single or use two horses and go deep in some of these races that are just so hard to handicap. So, you know, that's my thought about it. I try and zero in on something I really like. You know, best bet or whatever. And I try and build my ticket around that. You know, after you ended up at the end of the wait, I got to go back and change this a little bit, you know? Let's start with race number 5. That's the first race in the sequence. We'll walk through all 6 races and kind of get your thoughts on who you think might be live in those races and the 5th race here we go. Mile in 70 yards, $20,000 claiming event and how winters are two lifetime. Maybe for a lot of people a bit of a head scratcher, tell me about this one. Well, you know, I went with the four horse and Katie's dream girl actually like this was a lot today. 6 to one in the morning line. I'll tell you about wheeling back in 6 days. So just ran 6 days ago. But dropped to the 20 level and I like the fact that this horse is stretching out, broke out with at the start.

And I like the fact that this horse is stretching out, broke out with at the start and then showed some rally in the end and trained by Ralph Knicks and written by Chantal Sutherland. It was just been on fire lately and she I think she's time for most wins. I'm talking about this is on the tap most wins on the tape with 13 or 14 or something like that. I just think this horse is 6 to one, actually made this one my best bet on the cardinal my long shot on card today at 6 to one. So I thought that horse had a chance. I mean, you got to sort of use quite strength any police to junior roses started, but you're right. So this is where if you find that single, you got to go deep somewhere because it's not an easy one to start. So is Katie's dreamgirl strong enough to single in the spot for you? Almost. You know, you go to the probably in there with the quiet strength to I like for Eddie pleased the junior, you know, just one ran back. I like the fact that this horse is turning back and what I've been doing is I've been sort of key in a horse that already have a race over the surface, you know? So I like to see how they ran come back and they've been having some success with that. And that's the case with the 11 quite strength. What's the weather like down there today, Ronny? What do we expect the main track and turf to be? Well, the main track is fast right now, but as I said, we've been bombarded.

"6 O three four promo code Mike G like we love to sing. Promo code might great. There's Bill and gaffe. I'm on my way to roosters on pelham road to watch you get your head shaved. Lots of text messages. Mike, you should turn it into charity. I want to. We've been trying to figure out a way to do the head shaving to benefit our angel tree campaign, which starts next week. We're going to get Christmas presents for the children of prisoners in America. I love this campaign. It's one of my favorite times of the year, and we always just knock it out of the park because we have the most generous listeners in America. The idea was to videotape the head shaving, which we are going to do today. And then, like, let you make a donation to the prison fellowship ministry and get to the head shaving video back. I just don't know that we know how to do that. And we've talked about it, Eric Hansen, a director of operations, come over here for just a minute. Let's lighten the mood here for a moment before we get back to serious stuff. Eric has put up with me for a hundred years. How many years 22 years? My goodness. It's 22 years almost 20 years. All right, 20 two years you've been the operations manager of the Mike Gallagher show. Now try it up and I Tom tried it, but I had this idea that we'd videotape the head shaving and then sell it to donors or give it to donors who make a donation to our prison fellowship campaign, but I told time the other night I don't know how to do that. How would we send a link back? Right. Do we have a platform to be able to do that? Here's what I would, as you were talking about this because it's the first I've really heard about it. Here's what I was thinking, which might be kind of fun. What you can do is videotape it. And then what we're going to do Joe is coming and pat Kelly from the radio station they're going to have two angles. We're going to videotape. And people can make donations. And I don't know. I'll have to ask some of our rumble experts if this will work. But what we could do is then have a watch party on rumble for an exclusive group of people who donated who can then come and watch the rumble video. So it doesn't have to be one person and we don't have to send it to people. They can all come for sort of a on demand watch party. But can you do that through rumble? I don't know. Maybe. It sounds like it's something it feels like it's something we ought to be able to do or we could probably do some kind of we have a movie platform with the company, so we could probably do something like that. If it's not on rumble, we could do it. It's got to get into involvement all those people at IT, and all those guys. That's like going into there's a secret weapon which is 9 months to get that unnecessarily. We could ask there's one person I'm thinking of who I could ask, who's who can cut through the red tape? He's one of the big guys. You know I'm talking about. I know who you're talking about. He's one of the big guys. Yeah. All right. So that's the way to think about it. That might be, let's think about it. You know, if our listeners, if anybody has an idea suggestion, 'cause it would be fun to make this a win win. My embarrassment to benefit needy and deserving children. I think that's a fair tradeoff. Don't you? Oh, I do. Let me tell you, I would just like to point out for anyone, you know who doesn't know. I wish I knew the day and the hour that I would no longer have hair. Because if I had, I think I would have appreciated it more. What does that mean? I'm completely bald. I know you are, and you shave it though, right? Well, I do. I shave it because otherwise I look like my grandfather. And I'm a little early. You understand me? I've done this before. Years ago, what was it when was the last time I was daddy warbucks like 20 17 maybe 24 or 5 years ago at least? And the first time I did it 25 years ago, I thought, oh, no way. I'm shaving my head and I got a skull cap. Well, that looks stupid. That doesn't look good. So then the second time I did it, I shaved it. I looked like a serial killer. I mean, honest to goodness. It is a scary sight to see me. Do you know how many baseball caps I brought with me to South Carolina because after this gets done today, I mean, if I go out to dinner, the open hearth, we got a lot of listeners here in the upstate to 94 5 the answer, I'm gonna look like you guys streaming a mile away with this stupid big bald shiny head I'm gonna have. Well, you have you have hair, obviously, but it's very short, so it won't look that much different look a little bit different. And I will tell you that doing it at a barbershop, fantastic. It's great. You're really going to enjoy it. If you haven't done it before, straight razor. Nothing about this, I'm going to enjoy zero. And you know, and I will tell you this, you look fine bald and I just got a text message. Scottie just sent me a text message. He's bald. There are people that look good bald. I'm not one of them. I'm not. I'm gonna scare all the women and children. Small animals are gonna start howling and scamper. When I come walking down the street. Well, maybe we should do a poll tomorrow, a yes or a thumbs up thumbs down on does Mike look good bald? That would be fun. I know that ain't gonna happen. Legion Chicago might want to help us here because Lee we're trying to figure out how to benefit these children for the angel tree Christmas campaign that we're starting next week. How can I translate the head shaving into raising money for these kids? All right, Mike, nice talking to you. What we did for our rugby club, me and another guy is on the Chicago cop. And for our rugby club, people that were present, we allowed them to bid on who shaved our head. So the highest bidder got one shade. One whack of the razor, whatever you want from the back, side to side, and then second bidder gets the second shave all the way down. And I guess officer, do you realize how much blood that will draw do you know I'll get some crazy whacked out progressive who bids and they win and then they're gonna open my scalp up. I mean, I'll die of blood loss. Are you kidding? I can. I'm not gonna you think I'm gonna risk a razor to a stranger to cut my hair? And I know my clippers. Yeah, garden shear. Thank you. Thank you for your service. Goodbye. Thanks, but no thanks. I'm pro police, but not no, no. All right, let's get back. Look at all the calls from Chicago, by the way today. Didn't that interesting how that happens? I swear our calls get funneled from communities. I don't know why every call on hold today is from Chicago. So let's dive in here in the relief factor dot com studios to another chicagoan. It's done. Hey Don welcome. How are you? Hi, Mike. How are you today? I'm great. I appreciate it. Thank you..

"If you were looking for a mask? Ain't nobody wearing a mask. In that crowd. John is in Rhode Island. Hey, John, welcome to the show. How are you? Johnny there. All right, let's try Joe in New York City. Hey, Joe. Hey, Mike. Nice to talk to you. How are you doing? I'm doing good. I'm a longtime listener, but today, I have some time. I want to call you. Thank you. I appreciate it. Yeah, just appreciate you as an always other voice for the conservative. I mean, in New York City, the reality is, if you don't come planning, you basically can't live. You get your job. Literally lose your job. City workers now facing a mandate and you're out de Blasio doesn't care. He wants to kick you to the curb. That's right. So basically the choice of your livelihood or to compliant. So I think 90% of the people I have to wear a mask. But does it work? That's your story. You told it in the middle of a story about the old lady on the elevator. I have an old gentleman in my building. He is a doctor. He has infection this disease specialist. And he walks into everyday and it meets me in never has a mask off. And you apologize to me. I have my mask on. Because the building requires it. And he apologized to me. I saw him a doctor with I forgot my math. So that's one time. But he never wear every single day. Wow. So you tell me that the mask works? Right. Right. Well, one of the statistics Joe that jumped out at me was the high level of vaccine hesitancy among healthcare workers. And they're on the front lines. And you know, while Biden wants to kick them all to the curb and deprive them of their livelihood, which reminds me of the Dave Chappelle line, take away a man's livelihood, you might as well kill them. What do they know that we don't know? I don't know. My doctor says vaccine, I got to Johnson & Johnson shot yesterday my second one. I've got two full Johnson & Johnson vaccines, coursing through my veins. I expect the hand will be growing out of my forehead by Friday. Or not. One 806 5 5 Mike,.

"And hr end with the call of this year's kentucky derby medina spirit who as a horse has been somewhat of a polarizing figure but not nearly as much as his trainer bob baffert and we know what unfolded there. We are still waiting on a decision to see if medina spirit will indeed be the derby winner this year or if he will be disqualified but one thing is for sure he's back in action later today in the awesome again stakes which is a very intriguing race three grade one winners set to go there. It's a very deep renewal. And mike woman is the director of publicity at santa anita and as we traditionally do he helps kickoff the meat and look ahead to the big weekend on this saturday morning. Mike good morning. Good morning mike. Nice to have you nice to hear that. stretch call. their larry. Coleman he noted bob baffert stands alone but here we are almost five months later. Mike and we don't know if he does or not We still have this cloud of uncertainty. Lingering we're entire game because The kentucky racing commission has not yet made a ruling. But you know. He's very much evidence here. Today is medina. Spirit and mr baffert and We'll play it forward As you know this horse was scheduled to run last saturday. In that one million dollars pennsylvania derby now bob was quoted to the effect that he wasn't sure about the post position In my opinion He he really wasn't too happy with the way worked my He worked in company with aks man and it really was not a good work. In my opinion i watched it and He came back work better in preparation for this race. And you know he's facing some tough older horses the first time it's gonna be interesting that medina square now coming off that wind. Going a flat mile at del mar. He is the five to morning line favorite on john. White on john lifeline. Line so it's gonna be interesting. That'd be a great deal of attention. Obviously focused on this race. It's the ten and eleven race program. Yeah i mentioned the other grade one winners. That are involved in this race and it's not just medina spirit. You have tripoli who was so impressive winning the pacific classic and idol. The big cap winner. We know he loves santa anita. This is a very deep renewal mike. I'll just tell you this. My just my opinion and the games made on opinion if he was trained by john sadler. If that's said one of the biggest two letter words and racing if he runs back to his race in the pacific classic. I think it's game set match. I think this is a a four year old very very much on the improve Understand if we had him on graf You know he's bike kitten's joy but john decided to to get him to the dirt. He's done very well so far. I think he's very much on the improve and They're they're. they're looking forward very much that breeders cup classic which they've already You know qualified to get into by virtue of their win in the pacific classic We've got five stakes today and You know several of them that the breeders win you're in Challenge race qualifiers gonna be a lot of fun and again. A lot of interest in the genus spirit. But i think tripoli. I think he's the best source right now mike with all those great steaks are there some special wagers tied into them. The pick threes fours and those types of things. Well we've got the regs. Pardon me the regular wagering menu. And then we've got a very popular set a to wagers that tie us with golden gate fields. We've got the The golden hour double Which is a low takeout wager. And then the golden hour pick four and these wagers are the last four the pick for the last four year anna golden gate and you know the double The last race here and the last race at golden gate so It's a lot of fun and the fans seems to seem through responded to it. Also want to note a little bit of a wrinkle today my A thirty minute early. I post today because we've got eleven races. So we'll we'll tee it up at twelve thirty but every other day at it's going to be one o'clock let's talk about the race preceding the awesome again then. We'll try to get to the john henry too but what kind of work backwards. A little bit mike. Since we started talking about the awesome again. That's the ninth race. It's the mile and a quarter grade. One rodeo drive mile and a quarter on the turf. This one is always so competitive. Tell me a little bit more about this year's field well it. It's just a a great betting race with with no clear cut. Standout john white may going vegas the five to two morning line favorite understandably so off a nice win With the flavian. Proud aboard down there on the but takes over today and So you know it's going to be interesting. Pratt ends up on Richie baltas Luck toward the outside and Pretty pretty impressive. Us debut Going a mile and a sixteenth. After she came in from france. We'll see how she does. Second time coming out of their hers conditioned allowance through a mile quarter again. It's a terrific betting race. You know if if push game shove. I guess i'd go with the favorite going to vegas but i think anywhere you go in there. There's going to be a lot of value. Yeah it is a great betting race very competitive. Nobody's stand in the rodeo drive the race before that is the grey to santa anita sprint championship. Another one that's always kind of a wild shootout six-furlong on the main track. How did you see that one might. Well i know. Mark gla- had to kinda winced when the when the post position draw. And because dr shiva morning light favorite ends up down on a rail. This is one top notch sprinter. I i really have a lotta respect. Sorts and glass also got collusion Who's on the outside. Black staff just keeps running. Good races for john sadler. You know. he's an older gelding. Is it five to to Peed miller was bellyaching. Down the delmar about the condition of the main tracking. You that He's certainly not shy about it. ceesay rocket At five to two. This is just gonna a terrific claim by the way he was claimed And own singer lead by one of my youngest kids youth football coaches back in the day. Getting time cagle. Some percentages it outdoors. But this is really a great story. They took him for forty. I believe at oaklawn park Year ago last spring and man. He's really really been a gold mine forum. I'll go ahead and swallow heart. And and take dr shiva on the inside. There are two to one all right. That's the trace the grey to santa anita sprint championship. It's one of four..

"So what so. The self-doubt do i i don't but that's because my mother hyperbole is the shit out of me and over like built my self esteem in business. I don't doubt in swimming. Huge down. I suck at swimming. I'm scared i don't but i don't in a very specific and narrow reason and again it's fun to have you jeff here. Jefferson worked with very early on when we started vader. I just stay in my lane. Like this is back to self-awareness. I stay in my lane. A salesman on a business builder. I've done my whole life. I was an f. student at thirteen fourteen. My friends parents told my friends. Not hang out with me. Because i was a loser. I'm more successful than my entire graduating class. Combined like like this is because the market doesn't understand that people don't have to double down on your strikes and you have to punch your weaknesses in america. There's billions of dollars made on selling you how to fix the things that you're not good at. It's a huge mistake. You need to figure out who you are and go all in. That's what i did and so when you talk about business or marketing when you talk about the new york jets and when you talk about wine i've got nothing but bravado everything else you should see me sitting around dinner tables right now talking about politics the level of humility and the level of listening. You wouldn't expect from me because that's not how you're used to consuming me. I'm loud and proud. Because i only stay in my lane. Papery close attention. I've got nine years of content on the internet. Now maybe a little bit more. I've stayed very very very narrow for me. It's lucky the reason i've been able to kind of grow is my narrow thing is consumer behavior which i can deploy against anything so my narrow thing happens to be quite wide which allows me to play good investor. It allows me to run businesses. And it'd be a personal. It allows me to do things. But i don't remember from that you know. I don't talk about building product. I've been around. Start as well hold on. I don't talk about product. And i'm pretty good at you. I saw my williams and and and david carpenter tumbler. They always like give me good dabs behind the scenes that i'm good at it because it's a little consumer be. It's consumer behavioral kind of so good feels like to know how to lay on my liquor store. And that's how. I did well in commerce early on i just think about all i do. Is deploy empathy at scale. I'm i'm i'm an empathy machine. That's what i do. So so on the flip side for the people that do have self doubt that. I feel like i'm the most extreme purebred entrepreneur. I'm not the wrong personnel. I'm just over here. And i think the more you have self doubt is the further away you are from being a pure bred number one to run a company like everybody knows the media's multiple dictatorship right like you can sell me you just better fucking bring it because i've got fucking ideas you know so i don't yearn at all for but what that makes me think is this goes back to self awareness. Maybe you need a cope. Hunter may need to bring in a secondary since. You've already built something. Twenty percents co founder. If you're yearning for that that you shouldn't listen to gary saying fuck co-founder don't give a fuck a dictator. You should be like no no. This is what i'm feeling. And this is what i need. And who cares what anybody says about giving me things that make no sense to people on paper i gave jay fifty percent of intermediate when we started it all the leverage i was eleven years older i got all the clients i was the social media guy and he had fifty percents of business. Because i knew that's what felt right in the energy of our brother ship so i make decisions all the time i stole. I sold stephen. Ross owner the miami dolphins related real estate a thirty percent share of bainer media three and a half years ago when i knew i was building the business from three to one hundred million in a heartbeat because i want to buy the new york jets and so i left tens of millions of dollars on the table to be in the ecosystem of the nfl. Family like i make decisions all the time. They're not predicated on money. So you feel in your heart. If that was the question you decided to ask me. You should probably bring in a real co founder. That has minority interest. And who cares if everybody told you that it was a bad deal that you gave her twenty percent. It's a great deal for you because you know what you need way too. Many people in this room listening to the market or the five tips or somebody else's advice. That did it. Nobody's done it the way i did it and i'm not listening to anybody about everybody asked me. Who's your mentors. No-one myself mead. And not and maybe i'm too far and i respect that. I know what that sounds like. If you've never heard me i'd be like i'm not confused at eight percent of people in this guy. He's got a huge fucking ego. I get it. But i know that a lot of people aren't doing any of what i just did in that rant and i'd like you to do a little more questions. Let's get the guy. Mike nice running conform. You're obviously fantastic consumer behavior. You're seeing how to scene in march but the consumers totally right so you got to be ready. You got to be ready every day. Where they're going. How is that good or is this only for me. It's all gut. And then i put data against it to prove me right or wrong. That's what i do. I built being or media the scale. May vader media was built to build the machine machines. People the the organizational scale of me. So i intuitively feel like something was happening with snapchat in the summer and then i deployed people. The math nerds. She's and he's in my organization that loved math. That don't have intuitive dna. That don't like each you. That don't like people but boy they fucking love numbers and then i have them double check and call my bullshit but i moved before they come back because it's worth it for me to lose because i'm right which i've been right enough that i want to keep going the upsides incredible in the first mover landgrab of this stuff because it is a marketplace and they do move and they move fast. They move real fast. You just wake up. And it's over like i built my brand on twitter. I was at the top of the heap top. I'm devastated that. That's the one that kind of faded off from attention. But i've written articles two years ago about my concerns about this. You know it was happening. I can taste it back to be an actual practitioner. I knew that when i had fifty thousand followers on twitter and follow my boy neat thousand people would do it. And then i knew today with my one point two million. If i said follow my boy follow my girl. Susan like forty nine would. This is not good. Taste it because all guys the level of disrespect for impressions and all that stuff. This is about attention. I'm not trading impressions. i can get you impressions. You want one cent. Youtube million views on youtube video you can do. I can get one cent and other pre roller. Let's do it two thousand bucks good all day. Say you're fucking casey me step you know so you know. I think that people don't get it. I don't think that people don't get it and honestly very honestly as i get older he left more removed. Like i'm. I'm getting more confident because as i've gone higher up the ranks. Now hang out with fortune five hundred. Ceo's and i've watched you know my homies become the most respected business people in the world. I'm starting to realize like oh shit. Maybe i'm too humble. Maybe i really got gifted. Maybe i'm fucking lebron. Like i really like i really know what's on. I mean i know what's going like. I know vr is going to happen. And i know a lot of lose a shitload of money. Because they're betting on consumer vr which is twenty years away but it. But i'm betting on the crazy. I'm i'm learning everything i can about. What facebook apple and google and amazon about the and. I'm going backwards. I'm investing vr. Sound i don't even know if you're sounding existed. So that is always ingrained in us back as such tackling. A you know as a side hassle Teaching people if few things but one thing really really really made me focus. Remember anyone when he introduced me. You say that. I a with corporate officials Unimpeded overlooks and i do that. Because i i might from past experience and take a story about being overlooked remember. I was working in a sentence department. The shelby nameless might minute. I had left source. Kind of helping run to accidents in an advent came in to say if anyone wants to disappointment was like an internal Advance so i put my name forward. Because i mean black experienced easy to drop in electronic cavalry remember pertinent application and talking to the higher-ups who do be interviewing to say. I'm i'm interested in this initiating to me With me upstairs the officers silent up the team she says to me sent to me. One destroyed decided to have About and i didn't know. I knew he had sports on that day. Yeah i was finishing three finishing at four inner city. Nothing can do. I go to the gate. This is arkansas traveler. Connor played that for me last weekend. And now your friday and now he plays it today. How nice is that eight say. Espn finish up for the day. I wanted to talk a second about the olympics. i've been in really enjoying. i don't know about you. I enjoy the random sports. Like i enjoy turning on the tv. And seeing something that. I've never seen and deciding what i'm gonna get into this and within ten or fifteen minutes roz. I'm going to be an expert on it. I'm not just going to be watching it. I'm gonna be telling these athletes what they should be doing. you know. i'll sit and watch doubles bad mitten and after a few minutes. You gotta work on your backhand air sir. Like if you don't in the half no change you gotta go down the line with that shell. You're that guy. I am because it doesn't take long. These these announcers are good. So you can't help you can't help enjoy. I watched surfing this morning. You know if you're gonna have a surfing competition havn't japan during a typhoon and they did and it was. It was excellent to watch. I also have gotten really into pingpong. I mean the pink the doubles ping pong where you have to hit it and then get out of the way. The other person can hit it. I really enjoy that. There's a lotta lotta great sports out there. And i don't understand how people don't like the olympics. There's big narrative out there like all the ratings are down first of all. Here's a little secret when you hear people talking about the ratings. They all have an agenda. They all have some sort of agenda. They're trying to promote the ratings. Are down for everything because you know what we have other things to do like we have. We have these little phones that we're all addicted to that we can do. We can watch. I i like tin streaming services and i don't particularly watch any of them. It's such a waste of money but we all have all these things you know what yes. The ratings are going to be down. But i've never understood why people care about the ratings. Why do you care what other people are watching like. If you like it. What difference does it make the do down. The street watches it like. Why do you are you at his house. Do you want to sit there and see him. I mean the kentucky derby gets some of the highest ratings of any sporting event. But if you don't like horse racing why do you care. Why do you care that we're watching it. Or why do you care for not watching so the olympics. I saw something like twenty. Two million people watched last night and people are like. Oh that's disappointing disappointing. Because if you got to see that young lady from alaska seventeen years old win the gold medal and then they showed the video of her high school friends. Jumping up and down and going absolutely crazy. Like that's what this is all about like. How awesome was that and she finished and she was shocked she won and she sort of looked and said. I can't believe i one if you don't like that because you want a rant like nobody's watching the olympics. I just don't understand you why do you. Why do you care if you can't get joy out of watching people play badminton that i don't know what it is in your life. That's so bad because it is a lot of fun and i enjoy the olympics. They're still ten or twelve days right now. They're synchronized diving. I didn't know that was a sport. I'm already upset at the pike position. These guys are in though because they're not gonna win unless they tuck it better. And that's the kind of thing that happens only when you watch the olympics. Mike gallo is on the phone. He's apparently a former houston. Astros pitcher calling in on eight. Eight eight pm. Mike how are you pretty good. Yeah i'm a member of that. Bullpen in two thousand five. When we got swept by the white sox we didn't cheat i like death are bullpen was so bad. We didn't cheat mike. i like that. That's a good way to look. No worries that i did my job. I was era but look i'm abuse packer. Fan my mom wisconsin. I fell in love with them. When the los angeles rams left left me in highschool to saint louis so i felt it the packers and i saw air rogers sit the bench for a couple of years behind behind far and you know over the last two years i've been here in. The packers are treating aaron rodgers like garbage. If they didn't have him they wouldn't be the sniffing the playoffs. They wouldn't win their division. And and it's true. They didn't treat him like the. Mvp should be in. Obviously these labels keep getting higher and higher. He's not getting paid for. What do you mean. They didn't treat him like the. Mvp they pay a zillion dollars. Everybody in green bay loves him. They treated him just like san francisco. Treated joe montana. They treated greet him. Just like green bay treated brett farve. Listen they didn't. New england ended up getting not paying. Tom brady like it happens. That's what happens in the nfl crew. Now hear me out. I got blasted two years ago when they drafted love and they didn't get any wide receivers and the media said the packers are getting any help. They drafted a quarterback. They fired their quarterback. They fired the quarterback coach without even talking to rogers is that that confirmed that the happened last year I heard something like that happened. So you know i'm not saying just my boys are hitting up. He's a diva. He's a steve. I go look if he wins the superbowl this year. All this stuff is going to be gone but if he loses this year he he's gonna deserve that stroke and that's a great point. Mike nice to hear from you. That's a great point and he doesn't win this year. People won't i mean. He is put a big bull's eye on his back of criticism. He does not win this year. People will be on him and he'll deserve it because they've given him what he wants and if he doesn't win then that at this point is completely on him rise to you like the olympics like i do you enjoy all these random sports sort of you know mountain biking and all that or you want these guys. It's like forget it. I wanted to guys. If i don't watch it before years in between i'm not watching it 'cause it's the olympics say that's a very closed minded view and disappointed in two hours. Enjoyed being around you and now you disappoint me at the end. Even get more at me when max in bubba find out that i root for the other countries because it means more to them well sometimes i do too. That happens by the way. Watch three on three basketball although they they call it three x three basketball but it is very very entertaining. Thanks to you folks. Let me sit in with you today. Thanks to max.
