"So what do you guys kind of bashing on each other on Um, you know, right Right now, it's uh it's pretty Pretty low key. We don't really have anything going on too much. Liquor must not be in the text thread. Then I got we're going on a solo que way. Talk about we talk about Dad stuff. He says the pictures of his of his of his daughter and I was in pictures of our kids back and forth. So it Z pretty fun to see Lincoln that like he's usually the whipping boy. That's why I brought it up. But he's usually know you're picking on if he's not dishing it himself. That is Yeah, absolutely. But that Z. How baseball is and how sports are in general. I mean, if you You gotta be able Todos it down. Take it, too. So it's pretty fun, though, and we have a great group of guys that does it. That's outstanding. Well, I know you're eager to get things going for spring training, and you kind of touched on it before this season is going to at least be a little closer to normal. It'll be a full season. Uh, is that just kind of a relief to know that? Hey, we're moving in that direction where it just may have a little sense of normalcy may have some fans back in the ball park. And they absolutely, um, you know, I think the closer that we can get to normal, obviously, the better off we're all gonna be, Um, uh, not just in baseball, but and everything else. But Even just on baseball. You know when you when you prepare during the offseason pair prepared to play 162 games and get to the postseason, so it'll be nice to be able to go out and have that That schedule that regular schedule that we're used to, and you know, knowing what times we're gonna play known what's going on and all that stuff, But now being able to Ah, you know what? Just if something does happen, and I think last year caught everybody in baseball a lot about how we can adjust on the fly and do things so it's it was pretty nice and I'm just I'm excited. Tonto have a normal or season, that's for sure. Well, Mike certainly appreciate the time. Thanks for coming on with us. Great stuff as always, and look forward to seeing you down in Arizona. Absolutely, boys. Thank you very much for having me. Alright. Thank you. Mike Moussaka is red second baseman joining us on the Reds Hot Stove league. "Irvin Votto Garin Blandino. Mike Moussaka is to put his left hand on urban shoulder. Cody Reed put his hand on Garrett Shoulder and Sal Romano put his hand on Blandino is back. And the manager David Bell is a very good man. Still alongside the players took any right next to Blandino. And after the game and a post game a little get together, David Bell said. Quote. This is a group of players, coaches and staff that are extremely respectful and their constant looking to do the right thing. I know the situation is personal. It's emotional for all of us. I wanted them to know that they had my support. And several players. Votto Garrett Urban Moustakas have worn black lives matter shirts during the workouts in preseason camp. And Garrett and urban or the team's only African American players. Now as a long suffering Reds baseball fan as a person. I do not like to see this doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy and makes me feel as if I'm going to go toe watch or listen to a baseball game and suddenly a black lives matter. Protests breaks out unwittingly, I'm part of it. Same thing's gonna happen with the Bangles National Football League. They're goingto play the African American so called national anthem. Before the Star Spangled Banner. And now when I look at ESPN and the courts and Orlando the National Basketball Association have courts that say black lives matter and three foot high letters. Of course, black lives matter, Of course. Black Lives Matter, Inc. The entity that controls black lives matter is a Marxist organization that advocates the overthrow the United States government and also has encouraged during many rallies, the killing of police officers. And so when I look at what's happening here in Cincinnati, it's symptomatic of what's happening all over the place. The players have the right to do what they did. In fact, when I spoke to a to a veteran, hey, told may well, that's why I went to Iraq. That's where I went to Afghanistan so that Americans have rights. In reality, Americans do have rights. But fans have rights, too. And I'm wondering if politics entering the sports arena at this difficult time is what we need. I think David Bell is an impossible difficult situation. So I want to get your reaction. Also later today, today at two o'clock, Mike DeWine's going to be here. It's got a lot to talk about. Besides covert 19 or bar's going to be shut restaurants or not bars. But our bar slash restaurant's going to be shut down. What's his reaction to the indictment of Larry? How soldier and a bunch of other Republicans What But you and I talk about this because this is an important issue. Whether politics has so invaded the sphere of sports that the commonality all of us enjoy watching baseball, football, basketball golf, Whatever it might be, has been spoiled in a sense. 513749 7000 Bill Cunningham want to get your reaction. "And I'm sure we'll see we'll talk about this tonight, but he just had disability with other players teammates. They'd be working on something and Chipper would want you. Brian McKenna was used to talk about he'd be scuffling and eventually go into the cage. He'd swing twice and Chipper would say doing this and this adjust by witnessed the Knicks and walk away. And Brian would just stand there like, oh, okay. Just like an immediate diagnosis. I have an amazing story that actually involves myself and Chipper and conversation that we had one game that I'll tell tonight, I'm not going to give it away. But it's it's come on. That's that's that's too much of a tease. Oh, yes. She agree with me. We're gonna penalize boop for that. That's too much of a T. It's a professional teeth. Buster. He's getting people to tune into the broadcast. He's a company, man. Oh keys protein. Wow. Unbelievable. Well, I I am jealous in. Yeah. So in the three innings, and you have Chipper Jones there. Okay. You and David just stop talking. Let Chipper talk. Okay, please. Can you? All right. Speaking of young players last night kissing here made his major league debut for the Milwaukee Brewers. This is what happened is. I bet not big stature he's got quick back. Hi costs and he's going to have his first major league hit. So that was her NBC sports Philadelphia. Tom McCarthy play by play man. The said you heard was hitting a line drive. And then the ball hitting the pitcher. And I gotta tell you like I had not seen him play on television before I watch them take ground balls at one point in spring training, but not seen him play on television before. And he was like one of those guys when he got into boxing, you see that swing. You're like, oh my God that guy looks hitter. Like a jumps out at you. He's like a position player version of a pitcher comes out throwing one hundred miles per hour. He looks like he's going to hit. And it feels like he's being added by the brewers at the perfect time. No question, and they need some help. And you know, Shaw goes on the DL, but he'd been really bad and Laura has has has struggled. You know, they they're pitching really was was bad. And in this latest run where they played well, the pitching has been much better. But. You know there without Canaveral in the bullpen. So they've been shared burns in the pen. And I think that you know, I think you'll probably see him being kind of weaponized almost in a way they they developed pater at least for a bit. But the offense will BUSTER over the weekend. They're facing the cubs and the lineup that they throw out there against left handed pitching is not great and they need some answers. And I think that they they believe that this kid that I'm with the like in terms of looking hitter as they believed that this kid will will give them a boost because he can swing it. And let's face it the way that the brewers have have you second basement in recent years. It's pretty clear defense is not a priority with him. And with that position for the team. I mean, they moved Mike moussaka stairs move Travis Shaw there if you get offense out of that position. That's their goal. First and foremost. Yeah. I I mean, I know like. I would change your wording. It's not the defense isn't a priority. It's that they believe that with their aggressive positioning RC is their best defender. And so they don't just shift, but they're shifting what they do is. They are taking arsia and putting him in the spot that they believe is the highest probability of where the ball is hit. And if you look last year team defensive runs saved the Diamondbacks were one and the brewers were choose. So that you know, Senator teams I think the data that they collect. And and the implementation of the shift doesn't work as well as pretty clear that for the brewers even without great defenders that they're able you know to take ground balls in and and soft line drives and turn them into. Out..

"It's brewers cardinals crews back home tonight brewers broadcaster lane Grendel is with us this afternoon high lane. Hey, guys, how are you going to be with you good to have you here? So the road trip the LA start up pretty rough though in three against the angels. When the first against the dodgers a chance to come home at five hundred what did we learn lane about this brewers team during these six games in southern California. It's a really good question. I think we learned a little bit about the bullpen as as the week went along. I thought you know, we're seeing Garrick establish himself. And I thought this might happen. But as one of those guys that the brewers can get the ball to when they have the lead late in games. And of course, we already know junior. That's another guy. They can go multiple innings if you need him to and that's what he was able to do on Saturday night for the brewers to help them hold onto that victory on Saturday night. I think we're also finding out that outs Claudio can can probably put up a bunch of. Appearances this year. I would not be shocked if he has over eighty appearances before the season's all said and done, and I think if you take one bad outing away from Alex Wilson, he overall has performed pretty well. So I think you're seeing what the winning quote unquote, the winning bullpen is starting to look like. And of course, Jimmy Jeff going to put himself into that mix. Eventually when he comes back to you figure along with Josh hater, who of course, we know is there. So I think that's starting to take some shape, and we're starting to see some roles carved out there could councils fairly loose with how he likes to define those roles. But I think we have at night DEA of the guys that they're comfortable giving the ball to when they have a lead later in games. And so I think we learned that a little bit in the dodgers series. And I think we also saw this lineup. Even though not everybody's been clicking at the same time yet, it has enough depth that if Lorenzo Kane and Christian yelich, don't go out there and have big nights. They can still produce runs. He has money doll had a great road trip. Mike moussaka said a pretty good road trip. Orlando are continuing to hit in the bottom of that lineup. And it's really given some balance to that lineup where even if not everybody's going. They can still produce some runs. Hey, what do you make Jeremy Jeffress minor league rehab stint? We know that's over. And I know he's not yet active today. But looks like he has he has turned a corner. The numbers weren't great. However. Yeah. And I think it's always dangerous to get caught up in the numbers. I mean, I I get it. I think it's natural to look at the numbers and go he gave some runs he got hit a little bit down there. But I think it's a totally different dynamic, especially forget, it was an all star last year, the adrenaline pumping the same way. And I think we. We all know we've watched JJ pitch. Right. That's a guy that that he uses emotion to his advantage. I mean, he is a guy that he really puts on a show on the mount he's fun to watch little kick. In the spin off the mount every strikes guys out. He's not gonna be doing that AAA. So I think there's another gear in him that probably hasn't been discovered because he hasn't pitched in a game with those kind of stakes in that kind of an atmosphere yet. So I'll reserve judgment and getting to worried about the results until I see what he can do at the major league level. I understand the concern. I totally understand the question. But I think I think it gets a little bit tricky when he started diving into minor league numbers too much velocity Bator it needs to be it sounded like it was getting close. I know the the night before he went back to back. It was in that ninety to ninety three range I believe and I didn't hear where it was on Saturday. His last appearance, but I think you can probably almost had two miles per hour. Once you get into a big league ballpark. You know in front of the home fans. So that's getting pretty close. I mean, he's ninety six ninety five ninety six ninety seven last year probably for the most part. So that's starting to get in the neighborhood, which I think is a good sign. That's a long ways from where it was that. I spring training outing when it was in the low to mid eighties and everybody's going what's going on. Here. Sounds like it's on the comeback. He's one of the voices of the Milwaukee Brewers. He is lane. Grinned, elaine. We always appreciate you being with us. Thank you so much guys cruciate being with you. Brewers cardinals tonight. You can hear the game Miller park here on WTMJ up next. How about those bucks, man? "You till twelve thirty in the morning as we look back at what went down. We're gonna head back to Los Angeles. We expect to be joined by winning pitcher Zack Davies coming up in just a few minutes actually should be with us in just a bit. We'll get the comments for manager Craig counsel here from Fox Sports. Wisconsin's Jerry Augustine so a lot to get to between now and twelve thirty wall. So go back through the game with the highlights. What did you say about Zach Davies my goodness? Seven innings one run on eight hits six strikeouts. No walk through three times through the rotation. He is now to know with a one point five three a and this guy is just flat out pitching. He's using every pitch that he has keeping guys off balance. Taking very different approaches to batters as he sees them for a second. And in the case today. Third time really fun to watch with Zach Davies doing and look forward to talking to him and just a few moments. He had a bit of a scare got hit on a comebacker, and it really bent back one of his fingers. And when I saw it I didn't think he was going to continue on. I was kinda surprised and then he continued on thought maybe he wouldn't come back out the next half inning. He did. And man, he he pitched really really well tonight. So that's a that's a good win. That's a good win for this brewers team. They've now they got ten and five record and three of their five losses. Have come against teams in the American League or ought team in the American League when they lost to the angels. I gained swept in that series against the National League. They've been pretty incredible. So this is this is good. See what the brewers are doing the bullpen work. Day because they needed one guy out of the bullpen and junior Garriga. And I'm showing you video of he's a he's the guy from some Louis C three hundred and two miles Cinco Hicks. Young kid. Jordan hicks. Julia. Yeah. I'm the God from the gotten the right? Just I it's amazing to watch that pitch. Basically just could never hit the hit. I hate up fish to know that I've ever seen one like that. But but yeah, I struggle with sink his. That's a tough. That's a you know, when you have a good singer, Derek Lowe, had a great sinker Boone you have one. That's all you throw. Because you know, if you get the ball up it's going to get hammered. So if you gotta throw that sinker keep it down. Hey, always a pleasure to talk to you, Alex. Thank you. Thanks. All right. Talk to you again. Thank you, Alex, Australia. Boy, what a dedicated baseball fan, isn't he? Yeah. With a time zone change and everything he's in good shape. But I think for him. It's like daytime. Yeah. I don't know. It's still hard to keep track of something when you're not close close to it regionally. I I like where we are. I like the west coast time zone. Well, yeah. I remember when I was living in New York. I tried to follow the giants. And it was literally impossible. I could not do it. That's actually how I became a Mets fan because I had to adopt a team that was on the east coast. Really? Who is your favorite met player? David, right. Okay. Yeah. I really like David, right? All right. Well, the Mets what are they doing tonight? They're playing well you want to do a scoreboard forest. If I was kind of peaking around the league, I think the Mets were down when I checked four to nine with the Braves nine four four sorry, very tired. You know, Conforto hitting Alonzo's hitting the Braves are really taken it. So that's going on. And that's in the fifth inning right now nine four Braves nine four Braves right now d-box and Padres are also playing it's four nothing Padres are up. That's drawn to S T R H M. He has not pitched well Kelly for Arizona tonight Merrill, Kelly. Yep. Yep. That's what it's looking at like right now. And then again, brewers dodgers are kind of exactly where we left them on the one nothing Caleb Caleb. Mike moussaka with his home run. So Davies is on the other side of it. Exactly. And then everything is. Kind of where it stands Astros mirrors or nothing nothing in the top of the second. Which over the as as in Texas. Let's see that wasn't it rained out or was boned. Yeah. It says postponed to rain. It was it was dumping over there. So I think it never happened. And they were pulling the tarp on and off good. Okay. All right. Let's go to Nancy at San Mateo. What happens is I'm one of those fans. I go to all the games. I come home. I'm keyed up. I watch everything I've recorded if you guys are still on I watched whatever life, and then I watched what I've missed recorded. But the reason why I'm calling I'm a huge Nadda to them garner. Damn I wanna beg for Hon. Not to trade him. I agree with Morty. I think I have friends that will do the rotation and buy tickets in advance for Madison's games. I've never heard similar say oh wonder when by just pitching, I'll go watch him. It's not that. They don't love him. And it's not that. I don't love him. But I really I think Madison's it. I was it last night game. What'd you think or home? I you don't I turn to women that were sitting behind me. And I said this is three mine. Choose the movie groundhog day. The same people hitting to the same pitchers out in the outfield, and it just kept going on and on and on. But I loved every minute of it. And I leave my seat every game when they left the dugout. So I did not stay for the fireworks or I had to go potty so badly, and I ended up going home from there. But I came back again today, I love my joints. And thank you for listening to me such a good fan. Call anytime. And Carmen, I usually agree with you. But on Mattie, I agree with okay? Yeah. It's the guy and worries have a good night. Thanks. Yeah. I feel like you. And I kind of always take opposing sides, and that's part of the fun. You know, I don't mind when people disagree, and I don't think you do either. Because it's just creates more discussion around baseball. Well, you know, vita blue is coming on shortly. And when vita blue is with the as when he pitched fifty thousand people showed up Reggie Jackson played all the time. Sal Bando played all the time. Do you think it's the nature? So let me ask you this. Do you think it's the nature of being a pitcher versus the actual person? Because for example, Mike trout is probably the best player baseball. Right. But would people be more excited to see? Let's just say him, or, you know, I don't I don't know if some great great pitcher, whatever insert great pitcher. Well, it depends on the circumstance with but but if it's a game where the pitch of the focus is on the pitcher. Okay. Almost always on the pitcher by maybe on a maybe on a Wednesday evening a Sunday or weekend. You go to the park and your guys going -tendance usually is up on on a weekend more than in a giant still even when twenty eight thousand they had the fourth highest attendance in baseball, you know, the other night. So I think it's more of maybe a specialty thing. But I I don't know. I just sort of think whatever we think differently it in a way, I understand what you're saying. I think for me I'm just thinking about who is the marketable player who are the giants really putting their weight behind. And I one guy goes thirty games the other guy plays one hundred and forty games. So yeah. At one I mean to be fair one has a no trade contract and a very sizable one and the other one has a team friendly contract with no policy like that in place. So I think you know, when I'm talking about trades. I'm not including these other great players. Because they have these clauses in place through the giants. Get lucky with Kevin Palomar. What is what is his season? Gonna look like when it's all said and done what is this season? Gonna look like now, I say it because it forty doubles for Toronto and he had sixteen or seventeen home runs for Toronto. And I think he about to sixty and he didn't have a great on base percentage. Maybe three hundred close to it. But here's hitting like one fifty and he's got a five hundred slugging weird where is this going with Kepler and a half? Certainly don't think he's gonna keep pace with what he's doing. Right. He's having an exceptional week a couple of weeks of baseball. I think you know, what you're going to get with Kevin player. He's pretty consistent in year over year. So I think far has been working on this for a while. You know, he said he had been eyeing Kevin pillar, not just recently because Connor Joe and Michael rea didn't work out. But he had been trying to get Kevin flower over here for a while. So I don't think it's an accident that the sky is hell. Helping the team. I think far Han was very calculated. When he went after Kevin par, and you I see you far Han you're doing you're doing work back there. Even though you're quiet. You're getting stuff done Connor. Joe went back to the dodgers to just see that today. Waivers. And then it was up to the dodgers to say. All right. We'll take them back and give you back fifty thousand dollars or you can keep them, and we'll keep one hundred thousand dollars. They chose to bring Connor Joe back. I'm glad Connor Joe is somewhere. I think that's what's important. You can continue to, you know, do what he needs to do to be read is it Sacramento. Yep. And Connor Joe's probably Oklahoma City, or whatever they're over there. With the other twenty outfielders in triple A. I'm like, you know, I'm looking forward to the minor league report tomorrow from alley about Sacramento specifically because they can get direct help. I mean, Mike Gerber is actually playing really, well, I think he's going to try to force his way up here left handed hitter power, though. But we're how does he fit in? What do you do with them? I don't know maybe a bench player, but not a rookie. Who goes though, see that's the problem the vet is so thin that they have to use all this argument is that maybe maybe if the starter start going quality starts you can technically take somebody with options put him back in Sacramento for a little bit and see maybe play without a little bit. You don't necessarily need a huge bullpen if your players of. You're starting pitching is getting quality starts. So I think there's something there you could maybe do at least as an experiment, right? Like, maybe that will help you maybe not on a road trip. But maybe the next home series. Something they can toy with will. I think. Yes. Because you bring up a good point because on the road trip. You have to see how they're going to pitch on the road. Exactly. Yeah. If they start getting lit up the road, and all of a sudden you, you know, back to back games in you got the whole. Yeah. You need them. Then you need them in there. So I agree with you the Yankees series. But that's going to be something Yankee dodgers, right Yankees. Dodgers back to back starts. I think the twenty six twenty seven twenty eighth Yankees are coming in that. Yeah. That's I listen. I they never come here. Every three years, you know, Aaron judge. I can't wait Aaron judge. How about this is good Bumgarner versus the Yankees that that'll be something to see. I think the I think that's going to be a good match up to be honest with you. Well, all the right handed power of the Yankees habit. Aaron judge Stanton. I'm just San moments hit in the glove here. Remember, I can't wait to see those two sluggers because listen a lot of injuries. They do they do have a lot of injuries. But there's nothing more fun than watching like really talented baseball players play baseball. Even if you're. Not necessarily a fan of that team. You know, I love watching Mike trout, I love watching Aaron judge. I love watching Carlos Stanton Bryce Harper these guys. So anytime these big stars come into town. I'm all about it. Yeah. I know that's going to be a good one. That's that's going to be seen. But I'm going to go against Colorado with all the right hand the power. He pitched a hell of a game today. He did. He was on it today. That was not simple for him. Believe me second time through. He was even pretty good. He got in a little trouble third time through they they yanked him, you know, at that point. But he pitched a heck of a game today. He did. And I I wanna see Bumgarner and Aaron judge. He's such Aaron judge is such a freak of baseball. Because he's so big he's crazy powerful. Like, I just really wanna see that matchup. Giants are going to Boston this year to you. Don't see them gonna Fenway a lot. So I think it would be a really good year. I love when they play the AL glad they stabilized a little bit. Of course, there's a Saturday. We've got tomorrow playing the Rockies force circling the drain to be on. And we've got tomorrow to you know, that then who knows they'll get beat tomorrow in the show be totally different tomorrow. But they have stabilized a little bit. They're seven and nine sixteen games in. They were for nine, you know, and it could have been formed thirteen and, you know, then they could be this map forever. Yeah. Pitching is not the problem. Obviously the offenses. They moved the line today. That was successful. I like seeing no outs. Ed, you can have a sac fly here there discourse run. So you know, I love that. However yesterday was a completely different story in which. They couldn't get runners shin. They couldn't get people home. So, you know, I feel like I have a little Jekyll and Hyde relationship with offense where one day they look perfectly fine capable able to move the line play the ball that they're supposed to play and then another day, absolutely nothing..

"This is Will Smith of the San Francisco Giants now back to the giants post game show with Marty Lurie on KNB are six eighty all right? Good game for the giants today. Got a little hairy at the end. But Miranda came in and struck out. This is where the runaround Saddam run at second base. I let it off with a double and top gut strike three. And these are swings and misses Meranti threw changeups to everything. I sat right down there. And one fifteen and watched it three in a row. It was really very very impressive for him. I think maybe the most impressive part of the game today. But for the giants three sacrifice flies solarte's drop. Down a sacrifice bunt as the caller. I forget his name called earlier, very key part. You don't see bocce ever do that. But scoreless game first and second third inning and solarte's stayed with it and got the bunt down. And then pull our sacrifice fly and Posey a double. And then longoria took a third strike. But the giants are on the board. And they never gave up the lead today. And they win it today. Five to two over the Colorado Rockies so tomorrow morning. We started nine AM tomorrow, by the way, the professor will be here Carmen and Allie will be here. And we'll have a very good show. It's a very special day for me tomorrow because every year we celebrate Jackie Robinson day. And of course, that will be Monday, April the fifteenth, but the giants will be traveling that day, and of course, when a Monday, I'm not on so tomorrow, we're going to dedicate a good part of the show tomorrow, Marcus Shelby is gonna come by the talented talented composer, jazz musician, one of the most talented people in the country will come by the show tomorrow. Bruce Jenkins will be with us tomorrow. The professor we've got Kevin pillar on tomorrow. I've got a lot of lot of great comments from a lot of people about Jackie Robinson. So we're going to do a lot of that on our pre game tomorrow. So I'm really looking forward to that river islands. Dot com. Please check it out online. They have ten new home neighborhoods are being built thirty model home for viewing all built by some of the best builders in the bay area. So many choices, and I know and Gregor looking for a house in the rock ridge area in north Oakland up in that area. But there's so many choices out in river islands dot com and the housing market in the bay area is just just a nightmare. And then you come upon river islands, and you realize what you can get and what a growing community it is. And it's really a great deal. So Woan I love talking about it. But single-story two story homes three bedrooms, all the way up to seven bedrooms river islands dot com. It's located in Leith rip just past Tracy on the banks of the beautiful San Joaquin river. Hi, Patrick in Detroit. Patrick always nice to have you on. How are you tonight? Buddy and yourself, very good. And join a good baseball game today. So I thought it was a good day overall. I love the money. One of the roller blades on Hillary have lost five in a row. I know isn't that something pitching staff is like burning dumpster Marty. I mean, I'd never seen. Anyway. Couple of nights ago. I couldn't sleep. That's what they did was they turn on the dodger game and turn up the night way. And it was going to tell you stain of announced the gaming up. Everybody to sleep. Yeah. Dodgers have some pitching issues. I'll tell you that. There's no question about it. They and again Carmen did they start yet? Now, they're starting pretty soon. Caleb. Ferguson today. It's a bullpen game for the vaunted, Los Angeles Dodgers. How about that? They don't even have a starting pitcher today. You take my dad son used to say, this is a setting yourself. He's hooked the dodgers any game twice. All right. Good. Anyway, I wanna talk about you take the worst stadium pitcher hitting wise. Well, the listening pitchers you gotta go back to rainy Johnson. He was horrible. Okay. Dean chance. Yep. Date chance. Not good. Not good. Hey, Gary, Gary, I mentioned today. Bob, you'll was another one. Ready for the worst of all time co feminine giant? His name was one oval run her. Okay. Twenty nine lifetime. Batting average mode in a hundred times a bet. Right. Never. But you never hit money, of course. Yeah. He was a starter reliever. For the giants in the sixties with Bobby Bolin guys, then, but you know, it brought it up as Patrick talks about this just to get everybody on board with it. Chris Davis of the Orioles was over fifty four before he got two hits today. And as Carmen said he asked for the baseball after he got a hit and drove in a couple more runs for the double in the Orioles beat the Red Sox. So for a position player over fifty four is is really quite amazing thing money with all these pictures sailing going six innings five that can be good colefax, Dr Phil and marriage show. Gibson with pitching today. Daily five six innings, not at all. Well, it's a different world of of athletic training. Thing today. So of course, we think of you know, these pitchers they would never think of it because they would you know in different shape. Invite is going to be on a little bit later Bill. They can talk about it. But those pictures are in different shape, you you are expected to go deep into the game today you throw differently. You're expected to go five or six innings at most. Maybe you throw harder for longer periods of time than those guys did in those days, maybe they mixed it up more. But it my point is the old pictures just enjoy it that we did get to see it. And today, it's a different world than it's a different way. People pitch. I was talking to the best school. Of course. I never seen a pitch the pitcher that to the best school that was called Hubbell money. Yeah. Carl Hubbell of former giant his numbers up there at oracle park. We talk screw balls. We talked about Valenzuela Warren Spahn mash bell Mike now. Great screwball. Mike norris. So it's a pitch. You don't see anymore. Anyway, what you talked about you turn screw you ever young. Yeah. Well, you know, I may I just for some reason I full round with what can I tell you Skylab? I know this is actually through hardball. But pitching software was Skylab. But you know, it's funny. You said that I actually tried to turn it over the other way when I would throw it I would full around in doing it. But we don't see it in baseball today for a lefty. Maybe I don't know vita ever through screwball. But throwing a screw off for a lefty. And you throw it to a right handed hitter. And it broke away. There's a great bit bounce. Well, it was great at it. And then of course, if you had a lefty, you could throw it to the left hand would break in on his hand. So is a good pitch. Patrick. Always a pleasure to have you on. So go ahead. Go ahead Carmen. Yeah. I just wanted to give a quick update. The dodgers game. Actually, it's just underway. And they've already given up a home run to Mike moussaka. She's already already in the second top of the second. So. Kayla. Ferguson is already out there kind of doing what he's doing a very good. I like it. Yeah. The brewers. They don't they don't mess around over there. Well, they did to the angels. Yeah. They did. The angels aren't aren't that. That's why look that's why I love baseball. And I said this morning, you know, you come out the first two weeks and so much twelve and three and they go. Oh my God. They're never gonna lose a game. And next thing you look at him two weeks later, they're fourteen and thirteen and that's the way it works. It's it's a marathon. And you just have to stay with it. Thanks, pat. All right. Let's go to Michael in Sacramento. Eight cambior. Go ahead. Michael. Okay. Let's go to Alex in Australia. Alex, eight kmby are go ahead. Hi, molly. How you doing? Great tonight. Thank you. Yeah. I'm I was just Email the question about eighteen inning game. And what we thought about it. And I'll give it to spec to say. It's actually pretty cool for me. Because when I when I kind of baseball fan in England when I was ten so this is ninety nine thousand nine my exposure to baseball broadcasting was an hour highlight show on channel four once a week one in the morning so video tied that and that's what she wanted to kind of giants fan because the John's would doing well that year, and they were on that quite my brother became an ice fan. So you know, so they got a little lost that yet. But it was pretty much no exposure to live baseball tournament. If you wanted to stay up throughout the not now moving straight. Knowing knew the guy is being absolutely brilliant from join Sandham. Because now, I you know, I I look seven PM game starts at ten AM. So east coast night game is seven in the morning. So you know, I wrote up to work. I have my radio while I'm as I'm writing about Ken. And I'm this said, I listen to the radio broadcast. Oh and yesterday, I was on the garden working and I had into. Simon the until I die basically was out there for hours working on stuff. And and mice of America was probably a slave and housing stride in the middle of the end, sunshine. So great for me. It reminded me back a few years ago in the belt game against the nationals. I mean that was like I think to me I was, you know, listen to it in the morning, and then we took the kids out for lunch. And I and I was bad for that. I think I was completely riveted by the game of and was die owed. I listen to baseball. So I love that. Yeah. You you've got the good time change for that. But for the rest of us was a middle of the night. So it was a little a little tougher than a little tougher to deal with it. You know last week we had Tyler kept neuron who wrote the book called K and its intent chapters of great pitches, and he did great anecdotes with it. Got a lot of good plague on a comments on it. But we talked about the screwball, and and Tyler and then we had our champ ski on a few weeks ago, the former met, and maybe the best screwball of all time was tug McGraw and how he ended up throwing the screwball. So we always want to mention tug in the in the screwball conversation. And he was one of the best. But what's your favorite pitch? Alex view. Like, a pitchy. Likes the fastball. Curveball knuckleball. What do you like to say? Oh to see. I just love seeing..

"They're probably going to finish third behind the cardinals and the cubs and Hubei any of that. No. I really don't. And I don't think this team does. I don't think they worry about that sort of. Thing they know where they were a year ago. They know why it worked I think that's important thing. When you're when you're good. Part of the reason why you're good is because you know, how you need to win. You know, what you need to do to win and this team understands that about themselves. They're very self aware if you will. So I think they know what they're recipe is. And they're comfortable with it. And they're ready to go tack it again for another year. They know the cardinals are going to be better. They know this is the team today that is going to be in the race pretty much until the end right there with them in the central, and they know the cubs are going to be there to and they also know that the pirates have a good pitching staff and at the reds are improved team. And so this is going to be one of those years, but there's gonna be a stretch of ten days at some point where everybody's gonna be panicking. Any important thing is now the brewers have been through this a couple of times in the middle of races and seventeen eighteen and coming out on top. They've been through it. They're not gonna panic in those moments. They'll just kind of keep the ship going in the same direction and probably come out in pretty good shape. I think. Christian yelich all world here. And maybe can repeat that that's a lot to ask. If there's some other player that should be on our radar screen beside. Maybe it's going to have this breakout year well breakouts. Tough because I think most of these guys are stabbed. Now. I mean, all these guys when you talk about Lorenzo canes multi time all-star, obviously yelich twenty the MVP bronze won MVP before the guy that I think could have a big big year for the brewers is Mike moussaka because of the left handed power in this fall park. Great American ballpark within this division. I mean Wrigley complete small to right field as well. I think Mike stock is has the potential to be thirty five plus home run guy. This year addition of Grondahl he could hit thirty homers playing in the spotlight. She wanted to come here. Absolutely in both of his home runs this spring actually from the right side, which is rare. I mean, most of his power comes from the left side. I think that his offensive addition from the catcher spot a great pitch framer. I think he's going to work with these pitchers. Really? Well, put the offense that he provides from that spot. Again goes back to what we talked about originally. Or there's just so much to this lineup. There's just not an easy out.

"You might be ready to play. But some of the biggest stars in major league ball are not on the roster. Here are just a few free agents. Not signed yet sluggers Bryce Harper. Manny Machado and Mike moussaka says well as dominant closer Craig kimbrel. So how will this impact the season ahead ABC's? Brian Clark is watching free agency for us and joins us live right now. Good morning, Brian. Good morning. April mardi teams are already reporting for spring training like the Colorado Rockies. They have a game a week from Saturday. So why are so many big names not signed yet? Would you say, well, they haven't gotten the deals they wash or the deals they expect it from some of these teams we've seen massive contracts given out over the last couple of decades. So you you went towards this year thinking Bryce Harper Harper's going to get a huge contract. Manny Machado is going to get a huge contract. The teams aren't giving out those contracts. So now there's this deep freeze. That's the Senate over the sport. Brian. I'm wondering some people have said collusion. I know you hear that other realms, but they they said that baseball's maybe Tampa down by saying if no one signs him it kind of levels the costs. Yeah. And they're quick to deny the collusion. But you look it's essentially each team is kind of resetting the market. They wanna get under the luxury tax threshold some teams got under it. But now they're still not spending on these big big name players because what they've realized is would you rather have all the money all the money, you're willing to spend tied up in a guy like this or there's so much more flexibility. There's younger cheaper talent teams are going more towards that direction. They're not devoting the top dollar to some of the top players. So if these guys don't get the money, they want do they sit out like we've seen in other sports specifically football. I think that's going to be an interesting question. We're probably still a few weeks away from that. But pulled Harper Machado the represented by Scott Boris. He is really redefined the markets. He's not going to let them take a below market value deal the union wouldn't like that either. Then you think okay? Maybe it's not a long term deal. But did they take a two year? Make good contract bet on themselves for a whole bunch of money. That's another way this could go. But a lot of a lot of talk about. Things that aren't really on field. Baseball related as we had spring training in wondering about the Brennan's. We let you go could this lead to some form of a strike by the players saying, hey, something's going on here. So we're just gonna also you start to wonder about those rumblings. And that would it be this year unless something very extreme happen. But the the next collective bargaining agreement expires in twenty twenty one. So look towards that Navias storm clouds gather. We'll see if if steps are taken from the union or from major league baseball to alleviate some of these tensions before them. But that is you would say the right now storm clouds are beginning to gather ABC's Brian Clark. Thanks so much for the report. Thank you, eight fifteen.

"Like, you know, if you're interested, which he said, he was as like, we'll we'll hit you up when we get down there because we're doing Zona and Florida and these like, yeah, you know, I don't know where I'm going either. But you know, hopefully, we can work something out. And we're what two weeks away from from getting down there and two weeks away from getting to Florida. We're five days away from him needing to report to wherever the funky be going. Right. So who the fuck knows if 'cause Mike moussaka s- another guy there's a little. Yeah. Love to do. The interview doesn't have a job guy should have jobs. Let me help you out care. This is where you need to go. All right. You want? You wanna find yourself somebody to throw your bones you need to do. Your homework in find. Car shipping companies and you need to become friends with those individuals because when cars go, you know, where they're going, you know, where they're going like, my mad P con happens to work in a car shipping business. So if I needed to I might be able to find out who's cars going where win if that isn't the case that's just a little trick. I've learned along the way something you might make up something you might want to pick up sneaky. The Marlins signed Curtis grants into a minor league deal before we get into the baseball end of this as you got to say something real quick. Oh god. So last week. I had a quote that went on our Instagram account starting on Instagram. It said quote. No one on the Marlins is saying, quote, no one believes in us. Let's go boys. This is our year. They're just like fuck, man. I just need a job. That's what's happening here with Curtis Granderson. But I think for for whatever reason while for whatever reason the people that follow us on Instagram. They get so mad when a quote from our podcast ends up on our podcast. It's account who the fuck is. This guy was give buck with this guy has to say are you aware that it'll be starting nine darting nine is a podcast that we are on. And we your quoting things from that podcast putting it on the Instagram account. So whoever runs our social whoever runs our social, please put a quote card on her Instagram this week from me that says, quote, I just want this quote to be on our Instagram because I know how mad it makes our Instagram followers, and quote, well, that's the problem is. You should be taken aback by the anger is just generally don't like you the genuinely have they have. Hey, hey, might be. I think they hate you. And. That's right, right. It's all right. I don't hate you. I like you. There's really dumb there dumped people like why why these are people that are like, hey, why are they quoting the starting nine podcast on the starting nine Instagram. What you mean, what does that mean? Because you came out of the womb with a bucket target on your back. You came out of the womb with a bullseye right on your. I don't think it has anything to do with me. I just think that these people, quite frankly, just don't understand. It has what's going on here? It has everything to do with you. It has nothing to do nothing. Why Curtis Granderson character corrobos has everything to do with why the Marlins signed him? And let me tell you something invited to FanFest translation, he's making the fucking team. All right. So this minor league name if he breaks camp. No that has nothing to do with it. He's made look he's this is. If this is Derek Jeter's poker face, I wanna sit right next to Derek Jeter playing this game. I want to I want to be able to just push him all in he's making the club. This is not like if you don't break camp with the Marlins, you should retire. Thought about where Curtis Granderson that in his career? It's about the transaction the deal itself why? And the idea that he's by defend best..
