"You need good coverage linebackers. Michigan doesn't have a linebacker with a positive coverage grade this season. And I think that might be where you see some success for Georgia. Early in this game and maybe Mike McDonnell has to make an adjustment and I'm sure he's going to be preparing for it over the last two or three weeks. But as good as Michigan's defense has been, and they have made ridiculous year over year strides, especially in the secondary with virtually the same exact players, Michigan's allowed a one 15 passer rating on play action throws. If you only factor in power 5 teams, Michigan's defense is outside the top 30 and EPA per pass allowed to play action throws. Offenses are seeing more than a two and a half yard increase per throw in using play action against Michigan. And when we've broken down Michigan games recently, we've referenced the Nebraska match up a few times. That's the one offense that was decent that they played in the regular season. They hung a decent amount of points and they had a RPO based system. Adrian Martinez who just transferred out and has never played to the level we thought he would when he was recruited there. Was a perfect 9 for 9 using play action against Michigan's defense. Those 9 passes averaged nearly 19 and a half yards in attempt. Three of them were touchdowns. I think that is an area of concern. I really do. And so when I look at this, the whole key is getting sets and Bennet to throw in known passing situations. And that's kind of when he turns into a pumpkin. But if you can't stop the run or the early down play action passes or the RPO game on early downs, that's not going to be a thing. And so the way Michigan wins this side of the ball is obviously stopping the run and then getting sets and Bennet to throw in known passing situations and getting your two first round edge rushers after him. If you look in the two Alabama games, and I think that's probably the right equivalent to use here. Stetson Bennett, when trailing by a touchdown or more in those games, 37% passing success rate averaging 3.3 yards per pass attempt on third down. It is very clear how you make sets and Bennet in this Georgia offense uncomfortable. I'm just not sure Michigan's offense is going to allow the defense to play with elite. I'm not sure if you can't stop the run or if you can't stop the first down play action passes. Ben, it's going to be in a ton of uncomfortable situations. We'll see. I think that's ultimately what this comes down to. And the other interesting thing here and I do think we probably do a bad job if we didn't mention it. Is I've started to hear some rumblings over the last 36 hours or so that there's a real chance the leash is short on stetson Bennett and JT Daniels could get some blank time here for Friday. Give me interesting. I mean, JT hasn't turned a meaningful pass and what feels like an eternity. We talked about it early in the year. We thought that Georgia's stealing would be limited by stats and Bennett, some of his decision making, potential, but every now and again, competition behind the scenes can force the players involved to raise their level of play. So let's see if stetson Bennet can come out early, put together a scoring drive or two to your point for Michigan to play from behind the 8 ball. And who knows? Maybe it stats in his mobility in the pocket that gives them a wrinkle that they can lean on as well. But there is no doubt this is a Georgia team that's had to hear about it over the last couple of weeks. They were embarrassed by Alabama. Michigan is the team to beat. And if you have probably took a straw poll of casual college football fans out there on the street, they'd be stunned to know that Georgia was a 7 and a half point favorite. And I have to imagine sports books are taking on a huge amount of liability as far as Michigan money line is concerned for the New Year's Eve nightcap. I think you're spot on. It'll be interesting to see where this line goes, right? Because that is the night game on Friday. A lot of people are off work. And so it does take a different element in terms of being a bookmaker and figuring out where to put your line. Now, are you going to give professional betters the 7 here? I can tell you again, I saw pretty early on when this line opened up. On the buy, Georgia -6 and a half heavy. And so it's going to be interesting. This does feel like a game where someone can get out to a lead it kind of snowballs a little bit, right? Because neither of these quarterbacks are going to be great and known passing situations being forced to pass from behind. It does get that vibe to me where is ever able to maybe get out to an early lead is going to have a pretty dramatic advantage throughout. Oh, no doubt about it. I mean, there are teams in college football that feel comfortable playing from behind. I wouldn't put Georgia in Michigan in that particular bucket. No. By any stretch of the imagination. So we'll see exactly what we have here. Maybe shaping up for an SEC title game rematch in the national title or will we see a Cinderella emerged? Cincinnati and Michigan's credit both of them started the season with odds upwards of a 101, if not greater. So the two biggest long shots we've ever seen get into the college football playoff previous long shots have not fared that well in the college football semifinals. We'll see if these two teams can potentially break the mold and do something different. I do want to ask you pain real quick and not to break any of these games down because we're not going to obviously the uncertainty around other bowl games has changed the dynamic that we've taken on as far as previewing some of the bigger games on the schedule. Is there a game just as a college football fan that you want to watch involving teams not playing in the college football playoff? I'm going to sound like the college football Grinch, but not real. That's fair. No, it's a fair assessment. I mean, I'm like, this is gonna sound crazy and I've sent these text messages to you. We've kind of gotten into the point of the season where there's another week in the NFL. It's like such a grind. Based upon the season we've had so far and it's been a really bang up season, both publicly and behind the scenes that I would rather start my vacation now and just take off the next 6 weeks, especially with all the bullshit going on. Go over this, go with that. It's becoming when you sit there and spend hours handicapping a game and then it gets removed and you've got a position on a game and you're in such a good spot. It's a kick in the dick when the game ultimately gets canceled. It's quite frustrating. I mean, we've talked about it. I think Iowa state Clemson was one that was intriguing to me, but it's lost some of its luster when Iowa state's best defender and running back decides to opt out of that game and Clemson's dealing with quarter nayar issues on both sides of the ball. That one was going to have some intrigue for me. I was looking forward to that one a little bit..

Dropped out of school. But you're the scientist yeah we use. Ged cylinders but several bunsen burners Were involved it was. I believe a pluralist bunsen burner. Yes well his his burner. We did that. We didn't have the budget for like dual microscopes. So we just took two single microscopes in duct tape them together so it looks cool that's a wide slide for one of those but yeah i get absolutely love a wide wide. I love it. Yeah we've been to the water park. My favorite yeah and we did the whole thing ourselves. And that's it so i'm a national hero day. It's great. how did you see that is our guy. Frankly yeah no. There's got to be some sort of tectonic plate So i mean we've got to figure that out. There's got to be an answer. Yeah you know yeah just that that looks horrible so sending our best to if you have any sending our best. I was going to I also we. We sort of glossed over dave name-dropping both disney and michael j. fox. Your career is part of why. I wanted to have you on today. Dave because i. Because i poop next to michael j. Yeah well this is a roundabout way of getting to this. But we were talking about the clumps on a recent episode and i wondered out loud why there was a both nutty professor and clump. Why are there to eddie murphy. Fat suit movies. There's like no. That's the same character then. I realized after we finished recording. What i was really wondering about is what is norbert had thought of you. Kn- orbit the other. Eddie murphy movie that i don't think is in the clump of yrs you've had now. It's completely separate. Dave had a bizarre career. A bizarrely assaulted career in the entertainment industry. Yeah we should. We should explain various your various hats and is varied. And there's some weird shit on their you you the only person i know who basically coined an entire music chandra. Yeah i did that. What's that. What's i'm sorry. I'm so unaware. I'm stuck over here in the southeast now loop nashville isn't known for its music. So no apology actors care. It's it's not out. it's like footloose. Oh so you can't dance. You can't dance are saying there's nothing it can only be silence. John lithgow looking hot. The my friends. And i made a series of videos back in two thousand five in two thousand six called yacht rock and when those came out they were kind of viral before viral videos. Were sure sure. And then we fifteen sixteen however many years later we're still dealing with the aftermath of that. We've had a podcast where writing a book for little brown right now. Because i didn't realize that you completely coined the expression a now lap. Oh so yacht. Rock was not what it was called when yacht rock was out. No they just called it like soft rock or whatever or adult oriented contemporary west coast. You know whatever sure they throw out. But now they're laying on y'all rock music festivals where holy said mike mcdonnell. Adna matt line is a station on sirius. Xm i think when you guys get on your peleton bikes. Maybe this is shoutout to get sponsored by peleton The yacht rock channel on that. It's it's just it's everywhere. I i was sitting Was a famous famous. Dj who's dead now. A avid itchy. Of out of thing. i think. That's yup so i was doing a movie. Where he he was like the dj in the background and we were sitting and talking and he was telling me he wanted to do a yacht rock set. And i thought he was talking to me because he knew what that was but no he just knew the term and google yacht rock and showed him a photo. It was like. That's my face dude. That's about wow but yeah it's It's bigger than you kind of rejuvinated the career of hola notes like you. It's it's kind of. We've we've written are. We are in the process of writing this book for little brown. And it's funny. I like to. I like to brag that are label. Mates are nelson mandela and jd. Salinger sure but we are writing this book about yacht rock and we've had the opportunity to interview all these amazing people and a lot of them aren't names that you know you hear around. But they're heavy hitters for instance jay graydon who is probably best known for doing the guitar solo on peg dan hawaii founding yet but also is monster producer We interviewed steve Caro the other day From toto and just telling these stories at the lesc- brothers who a lot of people don't know. But i guarantee you. You know the jingle just for the taste of diet coke. Yeah but they're telling stories about harmonising with paul stanley on the venice boardwalk because nobody recognized them because it was when they had to have it. Just all these amazing stories about being on a boat with christopher cross the sailboat. And he's like. I don't know how to fucking sale. Of course like all these amazing things and it all goes back to this little dumb video. We made in two thousand five and we put on costumes. Were hanging out in each other's backyards and started talking about what i wanted to call marina rock because there's already john recalled arena rock. It's great and jd. And i got into an argument. One of my one of my my colleagues We got an argument about it and he convinced me the yacht rock was a better name and yeah so we don't. We don't call it marina rock. We call it. Yeah rock every we were over in australia doing shows and i was sitting soberly. Post your arm. Because you're bartender new. Podcast i was. I feel like i always am defending you. Even when there's no defense needed to paint rock is but people were. Hey dave lines man. It's happen all over. The world and people are shirts to say. Fuck dave lions and. I'm just like this weird. Oh i thought those were positive. That was like. I know that. Dave lions talk. Yeah no i know that. Used to be your merch. But i think it's it's taken a dark turn. It was more indigestion. Yeah absolutely yeah. It was like the obey. Just put it everywhere and let it sneak into the consciousness area the market absolutely but that's a mind-blowing to like come up with and i'm sure it has to be a little frustrating too because it's also like You know it's it's everywhere but it's like it's like having a mean that goes so viral becomes part of the lexicon. Yeah you're not getting royalties when people know we are not you know. Have a yacht rock x. fm channel or whatever. It's an it's like. Oh i started the thing. I did the thing. There's a band from. Atlanta called the rock review that trademark debt and started sending season desist letters to other people like actually to christopher cross. Who wanted to tour on a yacht rock under the banner and they're like no that's ours and it was a long legal battle and we finally..

"The city. I'm Lisa Dent on 7 20 w g N for Anna Duplantis. I'll be in tomorrow from 1 to 4 as well, Um, we've got to talk about the Duncan Keith thing. Kevin Powell in our sports department is with me. But, Kevin, I know you are an avid golfer. Um So did you watch the American century championship yesterday? I watched a little bit of it. Yes. Where you locked into it? Yes. I don't even know why, but because I was seeing some familiar faces. You know, a lot of the Bears were playing. I mean, Brian Urlacher, Robbie Gold. Matt Nagy, Kyle Fuller, Jim McMahon, Doug Flutie. I didn't see any of them. All I saw was Vinny del Negro. That was because he was the leader. I didn't know if Vinny Del Negro was such a great golfer. I know John Smaltz has been around Tony Romo. Those are guys names you see, and kind of here around the golf circuit as well. Steph Curry was out there. Mike McDonnell, longtime hockey player, Um Yeah, it's always It's a star studded event. For sure. I mean, there are a lot of, uh, celebrity outings. This one actually draws a huge celebrity crowd. Justin Timberlake was out there. Roger Clemens, Jerry Rice. So all the big sports names were together points in golf and out of all the Chicago names. I mean, Vinny Del Negro. Want it but out of the Bears, I guess Robbie Gold shot the best round. So what did you shoot this weekend? I'm sure you got in around. I did get it around Saturday. Would you finished just in time, with little bit of rain falling out in the suburbs, But we did get a full 18. It was supposed to play yesterday morning, but That was a washout. So at least got one round in. So I was happy with that. Okay, Let's talk about Dunkin Keith. You know, I get very attached to people, especially if it's somebody that plays for the Hawks or the bowls or the or the Bears. And and then I. I feel really sad when when they're traded off or they're gone, or they choose to leave. Yeah. So the reports are that Duncan Keith is headed to the Edmondson Oilers for defenseman Caleb Jones and a third round pick, also a major part of the deal. It is being reported that the Walkin Consume, can will take on all of Duncan Keith salary, so that does give them some much needed salary cap flexibility heading into this off season. It's not an official deal yet. We haven't got anything from the Hawks, but It seems like it's just about a done deal. Duncan Keith to the Edmonton Oilers, But yet to your point, I mean, you think about that core of Tase Kane, who still remain with Corey Crawford. No longer with the team. Brent Seabrook stepping away from hockey now, Duncan Keith Marion Hossa, so really, just have that core of the three Stanley Cups. Just the to remain in cane and tapes, But, yeah, I don't think we can overstate how great of a player Duncan Keith was He still, I think plays at a good level high level. Certainly not dead his elite level when he was winning Norris Trophies. Um when you know you look back at some of those years during those that Stanley Cup run what Duncan keep meant to that team, but just a complete hockey player. He's a complete shutdown Defenseman. Everything you would want in a defenseman, one of the best Blackhawks players ever. But you know, it's great. He's one of those guys. Much like Greg Olsen was for the Bears or Robbie Gold, who have foundations based in Chicago that raise a lot of money. And for him, you know, I always loved is is Keith relief at Joe's Bar, and I think it's raised like Recorders of a million dollars for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago land and I'm sure he'll take that to the next town that he's in. But I think that builds a fan base that goes beyond sports where people are very thankful for what some of these athletes do in our community to Benefit our community and all of us who live in it for sure. And you know when you have that platform here and how crazy sports obsessed we are in Chicago, and, you know, they think once they understand you see, like the work when Anthony Rizzo does and things like that A lot of these guys do and I'll contribute. So when you do have that platform and you do have an audience and a fan base that's going to be on board with pretty much anything you're doing. As well take advantage of it. So yeah, for sure, Duncan Keith, But, you know, we knew at some point this this incredible run the Blackhawks, head from the core would slowly come to an end Duncan Keith's 37 years old, It's the direction that I think a lot of us are have kind of seen with the Blackhawks. And when Stan Bowman is doing with the roster turnover, they were going to have to go this route eventually, but Getting younger was key. Obviously so, so moving on from Duncan Keith. Um not not a major surprise, considering the direction of the team, But yeah, I mean, Just an absolute legend here in Chicago Sports. And with the Blackhawks. Yes. So, thanks to Duncan for all He's done home Run Derby tomorrow night. I know tonight tonight. Yeah. Who wins? Who do you think wins? Shohei Otani is the betting favorite? He's the leader in baseball. He's the two way sensation with the Angels. He pitches. And he hits a lot of home run, so he's actually gonna start on the mound for the American League, and he's going to D. H and he's going to lead off. So, um, that'll be fun to see him in the All Star Game tomorrow night, but the home run Derby. It's an eight player brackets they do now and they're timed rounds and it's three rounds. So, um Thani's The betting favorite. I'm going to go with Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals. That's my pick for you. Okay, I'll hold that to you tomorrow. Okay? Um, And so I don't know if this is actually considered a sport, but I wanted to talk to somebody about it. So you're my guy, Kevin Powell. Um, professional tag. Have you ever watched that on T V? I have not watched it on TV. No, it is the craziest thing. Anyone listening. Watch this because Somebody turned me onto it, and it is literally it's like it's like one room with lots of obstacles, and the whole point of the sport is to tag the other guy, and it is the most intense, crazy thing you have ever seen. And these athletes are so agile. It's just it's inexplicable. You need to check it out. It's a step up from your basic playground tag. When we were growing up. It is called professional tag for a reason. You can't even believe you care to believe in it. There's actually skill and there's a method to winning. And yes, of course, it was one of my nephews that said, You have to watch this and I'm like, is that even a thing and it is and it's Pretty much something everybody needs to. You know what I think? I've seen highlights of this where it's almost like, not an obstacle course. But as you said, it's kind of just there's things that they have to jump over and run down and run around. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it almost looks like a skateboard park or something, You know, But the competition is on. We should play a professional, uh, tag game here at the radio station, and I'll just run around this afternoon. We'll select one person to begin my money's I'm Mary van develop. She was. She's always walking around the station anyway. So can cream. You guys lay of the land here, Okay..
