"Texted, I'd love to know why teams can't double team them, stop them. Why is he always so good every game, especially the playoffs? And it's a great question. And you thought when tyreek hill would go on to people were going to be able to kind of step one Kelsey a little bit, give him more attention. And the opposite has happened. He's had his biggest year perhaps ever. So I think job number one when you're playing Kansas City, especially if mahomes is somewhat limited, mobility wise, you've got to find a way to limit him. I mean, that's job number one. And if Smith Schuster or Justin Watson or Valdez scantling, if they beat you, that's okay. But don't let Travis Kelce beat you. And obviously Andy Reid very aware of that. And, you know, this kid can Darius Tony, who the Giants got rid of. Right. He's kind of an explosive X Factor to make. I'm anxious to see if he makes a couple of plays. See if they get the ball in his hands quickly in some of those bubble screens or jet sweeps. But I just think mahomes, you saw what he did in the second half. He just adjusted. He limped around the field and beat you. And he's kind of like the borough conversation. I don't think he feels like he needs to be at a 100% to wolf you. And I think he'll slide around in the pocket. He might not be able to sprint at full speed, but he'll slide around and make plays. And I fully believe that. So your best guess on Super Bowl 57 would be what? I'm putting you in a sports talk radio box here. What do you got from that? I had no idea. I think the four best teams are in the final four, which is really cool. And it's a cliche, but turnovers. You're going to go to whoever turns it over. I mean, honestly. And I totally get it. I know why you would say that. Because again, Dallas and San Francisco was tied going to the fourth quarter. Anything can happen. Once you get out there and the crucible of the game, which is why everybody thinks that maybe the niners are in trouble because of a kid so green at quarterback, but enacted it. I mean, aside from the first half in The Rain, two games ago where he was a little bit off, he sure doesn't look like a rookie to me. Right. No doubt. No doubt. So what's your best guess though? I'll circle back one more time. What's your best guess, Mike? What do you got for me? That is such a rich Isaac. Thank you, sir. Come on now. Come on, this is not our first rodeo. Come on now. So when the NFC side, Philly San Fran, they're the two best teams in the NFC. I just made the statement that I think Philadelphia has more talent than anybody in the league. So I would stand by that. I think San Francisco, I think their physicality is going to give Philadelphia test their so physical and tough and their run game and but I would say that I would give the edge at home to Philly and that other game that I'd like I liked what Zach Taylor said today when I talked about media one of them talk about beating Kansas City four times in a row. And he said, we don't have to beat him four times. You just have to beat him once. And I think Kansas City probably is favored. I think in all honesty, I'm kind of on the Cincinnati train. I love borough. I think you're talking about two of the best three quarterbacks in football. I like Cincinnati and on another train, rich. I don't know why Lou Anna ramo was not getting any kind of love to be a head coach. I don't get that at all. I thought he did another great job last week. He certainly did and man borrow your right. It's just amazing to watch him blossom into what he's doing and him versus mahomes is going to be amazing and then the NFC championship game as well. Mike, thanks for the time. Let's do this again. I miss talking to you in here and picking your brain. Thanks for the time. Thank you, rich. That's the man Mike mayock right here on the rich eisen show. Let's take a break. Juju Smith Schuster, when we come back from the Kansas City Chiefs. Back on the rich eisen show and he is back on this program, but the first time as a Kansas City chief, always a delight to chat with the wide receiver. Juju Smith Schuster back here on the program. How are you doing, juju? I'm doing great. How are you? I'm doing really well. So let's just jump right into it. This is your first AFC championship game rodeo, right? That never happened in Pittsburgh. First yes, my first one and I'm super excited. I can't wait. But yes, time is here. So what's going through your skull right now is you're getting ready for this game against the Cincinnati Bengals who you obviously know so well. Juju. It's more just the comment before the storm and getting into the books. Today is the day where we start breaking down place, studying this team. And just getting ready for the big game. Today's the day you get into the snow globe. Is that what happens, juju? What did that first start? The snow globe I did. When did you first see that in practice that we saw? It was actually, you know, it's funny. We've had that play on for about four weeks straight before we actually actually called it. And then we called it in the game and we were actually like damn we're actually calling this play for us to go out and score and meet scored and that's a crazy part, but with the parents kind of took it away, but it was a great play. But I guess that's part of what I kind of want to dive into for you is the ingenuity, the creativity and the fun that comes from that sort of thing. It strikes me just in the times that we've met and talked that that touches that checks every box for you, juju. You know? Yes, yes, yes. And that being said, you know, you just never know playing for any readers that you never know what you're going to get weekend week out and that's a play we had in our back pocket for quite some time. And right time, right moment, he called it, it worked, but at the same time, going to every game, it's just you should never know the outcome. So it's going to be a fun match. What's it like in playing with mahomes for you? Juju. It's so fun. It's like a video game. It's like scrambling around and throwing the wall anywhere on a foot. And making plays and those big catches. So that's like the fun part about that. He's able to just do what he does. Did you ever play mahomes in a video game? Did you ever do that before playing with him? Juju. Did that happen? I played with him. I played his actual player in the video game. I never played against him or with him in Madden, but very, very similar to relying.

"Nothing bothers him. And I mean nothing. And what does he want to do after he beat your ass? He wants to light up a cigar and talk about it. I love him. He does. It's so simple. But it's so rare, you know? It's exactly right. You beat your ass and I'll light a cigar up. And then, but you could call it cocky, but how could anyone have a problem with that? I mean, it sucks to be on the business end of it to be very, you know, I'm sure, but how about a fish? How about two minutes after beating buffalo and he's getting interviewed by I think was Tracy wolfson and his first comments? Comment is, well, I guess we're going to have to give a lot of refunds back. Better avios refunds, ready? Yep. Exactly right. He had that he had that in the chamber. He had it ready to go, and obviously Kansas City is a team that is on full alert. I mean, there's no doubt about that. Mike mayock here on the rich eisen show. So let's talk about those two other teams starting with Philadelphia first. They made the playoffs last year. They get one and done. It hurts comes back. He's getting a full year again. They add AJ Brown on draft day. Holy crap. Was that a big move? But why do you think it's all working like this in syriani second year? What's your sense of the secret sauce and how it's now spit out into a hosting and NFC championship game coming off of a boat racing of the Giants, Mike? Well, as you know, I'm from Philly, and I'm sitting right now about a 20 minute drive down in the stadium. And we hosted the eagles last year in Vegas. And I knew I could never come home if we didn't beat them. And we beat them pretty easily. In Vegas last year, and at that point, they had not really turned Jalen hurts loose. And they're running the running back was hurt and they were kind of a team in transition, I think, is how I would categorize it. When I saw them in Vegas last year, they went on to win several games after we beat them. And they made the playoffs at 9 and 8. But it was a borderline playoff theme, but hertz got better at the end of the season. And I remember talking to the media around here. I called, I talked to Howie roseman, right? So I went down the training camp before the season started. And I complimented how we on the job he did. I just said, look, you've got a top three to 5 offensive line. You've got now with the move you made it wide receiver and you've got a top three to 5 group of white out. You're running back is special when he's healthy. You're tight end and special when he's healthy. You've got a good and offensive group of personnels. Any team in the league, we're going to find out you're going to find out what Jalen hurts is. Is he the guys? Is he going to be a franchise guy or not? And to Jalen hurts his credit and that coaching staff credit, they made it work. I mean, they've taken advantage to me great coaching is putting your guys in a position to win. Take advantage of what they do well, try to minimize what they don't do well. What they do with Jalen is they put him in a position or they're an RPO based offense, he gets the ball out quickly. He's judicious with 21 to the football, both planned runs and unplanned runs. And if you're a defensive coordinator there, such a pain in the butt to coordinate against because of the quarterback lunging because of the RPO being. They're so hard. If you just slip a little bit, they're going to the house. And on top of that, I think how we roseman is the executive of the year. I think that they've done an amazing somebody ran for a couple hundred yards earlier in the year in so would they do the following week. They signed lindell Joseph and Dominican too. I mean, it's just an unbelievable. I think they're the most talented team in the league and I think that quarterback is now a franchise quarterback. And meanwhile in Kansas City, Mike, the other one seed, they're hosting. We're not in the trainer's room. You're not collectively. We are not. But all that said, we can probably be rest assured that mahomes is not going to be the full mahomes and all of his movements and all of his magic that come from his movements and his ability to throw off platform and things of that nature will be compromised. What do you think is going on in Andy Reid's mind right now as we're talking? I'm like, Andy's one of my favorite people in the world. And I think he's one of the best coaches I've ever been around. And his offensive creativity is off the charts. Some of the stuff they do offensively is just to have fun, like when they did that. Oh my gosh, the snow globe. Travis Kelce lines up at quarterback and inverted wishbone. I can just see these guys on Wednesday and Thursday, giggling and practice after having so much fun. So you get to the serious business of what happens if mahomes is limited because of his high ankle. And I think Andy will be real creative. I'm blown away by how nobody can cover Travis Kelce. I don't think that's talked about enough. This is interesting, rich. I've got a text chain with 12 of my teammates from Boston college. We get together every summer. And the other day, one of the guys who played the NFL texted, he was a linebacker in the NFL. He texted, I'd love to know why teams can't double team them, stop them. Why is he always so good every game, especially the playoffs?

"And listen to I and eagle in this man call the Bengals and the bills, what a fun game and a fun listen. My buddy from way back in the day and for all these years, Mike mayock back here on the rich eisen show, how you doing, Michael? Rich, I'm doing great, man. How you doing? I'm doing great. What was the scene like in western New York, you're sitting up there with iron in that stadium. Can you paint the word picture for me? Prior to getting up in the booth. And we left the hotel and it was about the GPS told us 18 minutes to get to the stadium. And an hour and ten minutes, we were still circling the stadium trying to get through the crowd. And the cool thing to me is, you know, Lambo is considered an iconic place like Wrigley or pick your spot, right? Right. And it should be. It is iconic. But I just, I had goosebumps going into this game because even though they're going to rip down the stadium, you're driving through these neighborhoods. And I mean neighborhoods. And people are parking their cars for ten bucks or 20 bucks. There's Bengals, jerseys, buffalo, build jerseys. It's starting to snow. People are drinking beer, cooking bratwurst. And I'm thinking the environment is every bit as cool as Lambo. And it is. And I just got a huge kick out of being able to be a part of something like that. Did you ever play in that stadium, Mike? I'll take a shot at that question. Do you play there? Did you play there? In Buffalo? No. Never did. Nope. Never got up there. Okay. I called a couple of Thursday night games there for NFL network back in the day. But that's about it. Okay. And you called this game with iron eagle. To me, the bills are just lacking a run game or a pass rush that's significant. What's the missing gear to you having seen the bills and this now being a post mortem conversation in western New York with the bills winding up way short of the Super Bowl championship a lot thought was coming this year. I'm like yeah, it's hard to put your finger on rich because you say they don't have a run game yet they were number 7 in the league and running the football. They have number 7 passing the football. So they had two balance in the regular season. When you add up a top ten in both of those, there were number two and point scored. And their defense was in top ten in just about every category. So it's hard to sit there and say, you know, what's wrong with this franchise, and I think you and I have talked about this before in the media, I think we jump on and off bandwagon way too quickly. People are worried about the future. I think Josh Allen 26 years old. What I would say is that Josh Allen is a top four or 5 quarterback in that Lake all day long. He's got to take care of the football more. He fumbled it 16 times this year. He only lost 6, but to give you comparison. I mean, he put it on the ground 16 times Joe burrow put it on the ground 6 times. You got to take care of the football. And it's just hard to sit here and say, I'll tell you one thing they did miss. And that is von Miller. They have a really solid defensive line of big body types that can push a pocket, but they lost that twitchy edge guy, they lost a lot. And I think that showed up as soon as von got hurt. So when you're saying that, what are they missing? I think a twitchy edge guy is critical. They're back in with beat up all year long corners and safeties. They were down, you know, I mean, by the end of the game the other day, rich, special teams guys were playing safety for them. I mean, they were down to no safety. So I think that took a little bit of gas out of them all so. Well, I guess the running game that I'm referring to would be a running game from an actual running back. And so I guess I should have been more specific. And because to me, when you're asking Alan to run it and throw it, that also puts him in the mentality of having to do it all by himself and that's maybe where he makes some of these throws, right? If he's always in this mindset of I'm being asked to be the engine here and also the main thrust of every phase, not special teams or defense, then I'm going to make a throw that I maybe shouldn't. Is that fair? Mike? Yeah, I think if your quarterback gets into that mode, it's there. I'm not sure that was his mode in most games. I thought I saw each year in advancement and him getting a little bit better in learning how to get down and take care of himself and know when to throw the football away. Now, that contrary to what I just said a moment ago because he had 22 turnovers and 17 games heading into Cincinnati, he played a clean game until the end when he threw an interception to try to make a play that was basically out. But I get your point rich. I mean, Devin Singletary and James cook between them had about 12 or 1300 yards rushing. So would it help to have a more consistent a back maybe? Don't disagree with that. But I like both those backs. I really do. Mike mayock here on the rich eisen show. Let's talk borrow my, I mean, stone cold, blooded, you know, quarterback assassin and he is growing into exactly that. He's now going to go to Kansas City. He hasn't lost him a home. I mean, what he is doing for Cincinnati is just off the charts. I'm wondering from your evaluation, I believe that was your second draft when you were in Vegas. Your evaluation of borough, even though you knew you had no shot at him. Is it beyond even what you would evaluate it or everyone was evaluating of him? Mike? Yeah, I think so. I think everybody thought he was the number one player in the country and he was. I think we all agree with that. We all thought he was going to be a top level quarterback. But to be honest with you, three years in, he's even better than I ever thought he could be. It's funny, rich. I left the hotel in Buffalo yesterday morning and I was checking out and Joe burrow's dad came over to say hi. And he was a coach. And I said, mister borrowed, did you ever coach Joe yourself? He said, no, and he went through the litany ecology as he had been at Iowa state in Washington, which I kind of knew his bio. And he said, but I never got my hands on him that way. And I said, look, you hear this from everybody. So I know it doesn't mean anything, but I watch a lot of tape. And your kid is freaking special. I mean, he's different. And he just laughed. You got to say, yeah, we've known that for a while. He is. The thing I love about him rich is that

"Be joining us and he is as Philly as they come, so he's locked in on that team and a forty-niners clearly are a team that's on Mike's radar screen as well. His expert opinion coming up, the actor Dave Franco, who's directed a new film called somebody I used to know. He's a die hard niner fan. He directed his wife, Alison Brie, who a lot of mad men fans would know about just among many items of TV shows. And films she was in, he's going to be here in studio an hour number three. Juju Smith Schuster is going to either recalling it in a couple of minutes at the end of this hour. It depends on what's going on with the chief's practice. All right. We already said goodbye to Fred Warner or hello and then goodbye to Fred Warner, the San Francisco forty-niners, good times. 8 four four two O four riches, the number to dial here on this program and judicious miss Schuster will be either calling in at about 5 minutes or later on. But a lot of Omaha's going on. Here on the program here at top of our number two, on the Roku channel and so much more. Hey, congratulations are in order for somebody here in this studio that's not named me. Despite you trying to earn another Oscar nomination, great try. I think that's not why I'm not taking congratulating you. You didn't get it. All right. TJ Jefferson, congratulations are in order for the fact that Rui hachimura will not be making his Laker debut against your clippers tonight. So there you go. That's not what I was going to say. That's not what it is. What it is, Christie, congratulations. Our heading to you. Oh. They're in your direction. I'm shocked. Yes. Yeah, me too. The New England Patriots have an offensive coordinator. He's not only done it before. He's done it before for the Patriots. And he's done it before for the Patriots. Well, Tom Brady was there. Yeah. So the system that Mac Jones ran very well in his rookie season and suddenly couldn't run for his life that got changed or simplified and coordinated by Matt Patricia, who's a defensive minded head coach, that's all out the window, and it's Bill O'Brien coming in as the new OC of the NEP. Congratulations. Thanks. First team all butt chin Bill O'Brien. Okay. Most famous moment is him yelling at Tom Brady on the sidelines. That's right. He gave Brady the business. Kind of brought Penn State back after he did. You know, we know what happened there. And good head coach. I mean, I don't think he should have got fired in Houston. He did a good job down there and obviously the way. The Andrew Hopkins might be. Yeah, I mean, I didn't like the way that he was shopping for groceries, but it's also I said coach, not gentleman. Understood? And the best way back into a major program is to take a little tutelage under Nick Saban for a couple years and you're back. I'm excited. And I think he and Mac Jones did overlap a little bit. They did. Mac is a reportedly pumped up about this higher as he should be. So the quick game will no longer effing suck. I think Mac or in those words from Tom Brady. Yeah, it's awesome. It's great. Finally, somebody who knows what they're doing. Now if we can just get MP out of there, what do you got a problem with Patricia even be a royal? He stinks. Come on. Rich, he was supposed to be, let me just go back 5 years to the Super Bowl. Okay, supposed to be this defensive guru, I think Nick Foles just scored again. I gave it like 600 yards in the Super Bowl. And ask Lyons fans how good he was at defense. He stinks. Let's just get him out of here. Let's be done. What do you care? If you like him, if Belichick likes him, what do you care for? I don't care. I don't want people. I don't want to work with people I like. I want to work with people who are good at the job. You all just happen to be good at your jobs and I like you. I was about to say to me. It's about to say, you know, there was something missing at the end of that sentence. And I'm glad you went in the direction that you did. All right. Like I said, there was still time to fire those guys in week one, week four. I wasn't happening mid season. I mean, that was the way that one went. But there you go. Now, all we got to do is for Deandre Hopkins. He's from the AFC south. So he does know that John Smith can still catch the ball and be a difference maker at the tight end position. Brother, when they sign him, when they sign him. When they sign him, I thought that's a guy who I know, you run them up the seam and he's perfect for the patriot system. He hasn't done a damn thing for him. Not much, man. Not much. So let's get one of those kids who can run faster than the draft. Won't help that out. Yeah, he's not going to be there. Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen. Although Stranger Things have happened. Belichick can always put velvet ropes around a situation and suck the oxygen out of the room. Anyway, it's good. Was he officially named? Did he get the title? I don't believe I've seen any press release yet, but when it's reported over and over and over again, I think it's a done deal, brother. So the pads had tweeted something out. Yeah, yeah, there you go. Report patriots, well, the Patriots Twitter had a report. I think they would know if it's official. Oh my gosh. It does say offensively. Well, what it is is it's just, there's hopeful as you. And it's just like Bill has an approved it completely yet, but he's coming. This is it. Just someone who knows what they're doing, familiar with the team, obviously in the culture and familiar with the quarterback. That's all we want. As fans. So who's going to get the Alabama gig now? What coaches? Battled and needs a rehab. I got it. Nathaniel Hackett. Yeah, there you go. Go there. Two years. Kill it. Kill it, crush it, win 95% of your games. Yeah. That's not a bad one. And then boom, Nathaniel Hackett, head coach somewhere. You've got a job. 'cause that's what's happening, right? That's what's going on. There's no better fast track to being back on a sideline. Lane kiffin, Steve sarkisian, Bill O'Brien. There you go. But bills doesn't have the HC job. Unless he's in waiting. I like Bill Brian. I'm glad that he's back. Me too, man. For you. Thank you. I don't mean it. Don and New York, you're here on the riches and show. What's up, Don? How's it going? What's on your mind, Don? Yeah, so earlier you guys are talking about the possibility of Tom Brady going to the cowboys on the cowboy fan. Well, so we know that it's not going to happen. But here was how I would play it out. Always in Madden. You see what you do is you trade dak Prescott. For an early round pick, but to do that, you're probably going to have to also trade a first and a second round pick as well. Then you draft, you draft a quarterback. And then you go and you sign Brady, Brady, take you to the Super Bowl, hopefully. And then that young guy learns behind Brady. And then you're set up for the future once Brady leaves. Boom. That's a show. Thank you, Don. Greatly appreciate it. Who's going to take that? I would say a lot of people would line up to take deck. Here's a team that I've heard that people would think dac would look great in. And do well

Night football pregame show on westwood. One with the nfl's biggest stars all season long. I've been doing it. I'm going to keep doing it. 'cause no one's gonna stop me and with that in mind it's time for another mercedes-benz interview segment sponsored. By mercedes benz vans mercedes. Benz sprinter asks. When was the last time you chased dream. Whether you're ready to take your business to the next level or live. The van life a mercedes benz sprinter van is the van for the job. Mike mayock here. Las vegas general manager raiders ravens. Monday night football coming up. So what is on your table on your inbox now. Now that we're ready to play football. what is what. what is your job. What is your gig entail right now. Kind of anxious to get on the road a little bit rich and you know me i. I like smell on the grass. Just and you know once you get from final cuts you make some adjustments so that fifty three etc. And you're you're heading into the roster. I think what i learned when i was at. Nfl network was at all thirty two. Gm's kind of had their own way of doing business during the season Ozzy knew some guy who i loved. You know ozzie believed in being in the building. Three hundred and sixty five days a year. No your team better than anybody. Else's team Kevin culvert and awesome general manager. Moe's love being out in the growed and he felt like he had to see the players personally. And you know everybody's got their own reason for doing things. What i try to do is balance being in the building with john and staying on top of our roster with getting out there and seeing some of my area scouts and seeing some of the players in each area. so what How has gus bradley's arrival Helped shape your roster in a way in some of the moves that we've been seeing over the last couple of days and weeks and months is well like well first of all Gus embraces communication. Both amongst his coaches the players and me and you know he walked the door. And we've got a pretty good feel for what he prefers by position body types. What they look like how they move what they look like what they smelled like you know. He's very specific. And that helps us. Evaluate players The communication skills that he displays and the leadership skills. I think our top level And i think any time you get a guy like that at any position in your building. It's helpful so he's been great to work with on a bunch of different levels And i think the players have responded to his approach And the goal is the play fast and and keep it simple. What's the challenge for this team against the ravens on monday night the match up the xs and os here that. You're looking forward to playing out on monday here for you. Those i mean in on offense obviously rich storyline for us. It's less raven intensive and more. You know how we gonna look up from with our revamped offensive line. You know how our our wide receiver is gonna respond. Our young white outs and on defense Can we affect the quarterback you know and and if you're talking about the ravens can we stop the run. I mean they've had an awful lot of injuries Recently at the running back position specifically but number eight still available so When number eight on the field. There's a big play waiting to happen. Are you enjoying being. Gm mike i mean i know it's been a couple of years now. How you you like it. You enjoy it. This is what you envisioned everything while. I'm enjoying it a lot more this year. Now that i'm more like gm that. I was last year when i was a covert manager But if we don't win more games. I'm probably going to be back there sitting next to you. I you know first of all. I'm not big on the elephant in the room. You know well there. There is that elephant you know. And and that's kind of why i'm like asking if you're enjoying it because there's so much talk about you and gruden into decisions in the making of the roster and some of the decisions that were recently made. Is there anything you want address on that front. Since we're the elephant is sitting right. There might come sixty three. And i'm and i'm pretty pragmatic and i knew what i getting into. I've been a football person my whole life and at the end of the day. Either winning up games you don't and i think we're getting for me and i think we're getting to a critical juncture. We've got to win some games and it starts with monday night football against the baltimore ravens right here on westwood one and mike you take care of yourself. We'll chat again soon. Okay.

Let's go to pete in richmond. Virginia. what's up pete. Hello hello gentlemen. It's been a while heater. Y'all doing everything real quick question for you. Have you ever heard the saying. Close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenade. I've heard that sir. Yes yes oh. Tj teaches team. But you're not on the caliber of the buccaneers. But i do want to ask you this. Tj a certain. Then i'm gonna let you go when you guys. Were getting ready to kick that field goal in the camera cut to tom brady and that look on his face when he was looking across the sidelines and there was over a minute left. Did you think you had any chance of winning the football game weekend. Thank you p you too eight brockman you wanna ask me that question again thinking my answer here. You go did you. Thank you jay. You think when they nbc sunday night football on nbc cameras and you know Fried goodell andrew call from the terrific team for the business that they found somehow. They had a camera. Dedicated tolerating on the sideline and they decided you know what eighty four seconds to go It's a feel gained. Field goal wins. It doesn't have to go the full length of feel just a portion of the field One time out left. Let's show a shot of tom. Brady great choice fred. andrew Digit thank sitting at home. Where you were where you had a shot on this greener through in that football No they go no. I know i wanted to come out here. And be like yeah. I thought it was over. But i felt like everyone else felt. There was time on the clock that we have. It's it's adler it's a movie we've seen before the call to come in from within the house sequel never gets old an eraser. No i was. Yeah i was in the glass box emotion. it makes it the more amazing christopher. Can you look it up. Because i don't have it in front of care. What are you need look up. The buccaneers twenty twenty schedule. When were they in so-fi against the rams when was that game last year box at rams which could be the nfc championship game this year. A lot of people are thinking right could be so one was that what week was that. There was in tampa camp. Okay so the wh-what of that was Monday november twenty third okay. That's usually that was week eleven. 'cause we twelve the next week was against the chiefs at home. Correct kris right. They play those week now. Then they lost the chiefs when you know tyreek hill lit them up in that first. Quarter that that was a three or four losing strack. they loss to the saints. They won at carolina. Then lost back to back to the rams chief and then they haven't lost since they've won nine in a row off the following week rattled off nine straight wins including last year's playoffs and then last night's opener. Exactly it's amazing that the rams if you remember kicked the ball punted back to the box willingly. Just said we're just gonna make you burn your timeouts and then we'll give it back to you now. You take you take it and we'll let donald and jalen ramsey and the rest of our defense handle that's how out of sync everything was in tampa and that's still in the super bowl season of the tampa bay buccaneers which is why now when brady's in a routine and is more familiar with the offense things be particularly dangerous. Now it's let's show a shot. Brady ready to take out elm street. Because he's the nightmare. Bro with the fingernails in all back in day was defanged in week. Eleven rams willingly flipped. If i remember that they're like that's how bad this offense is going on with tampa and tom is. That the rams are like yeah. This is the moment where brady normally dominates. And just you know ruins our lives habit. Tom com. That won't happen a glass tom. Somebody said have at tom that was it. Because you know tom was way behind the next week and then nobody said habit tom since then. All right ready for tj jefferson's big ass bag number two. Let's do it okay. Last time we did this it was just. Tj's top five. We don't have a drop for this year. We don't have that little back either. Okay that's your music before guys before says jay jay's big ass grabac. Oh we got your now. Famed paper bag is part of this. Ask you got about five minutes oj. I mean it's okay to make this quick first and foremost guys real quick. I want to say this a buddy of mine passed away last weekend when it give them a shout see without foo foo facts system this for you brother all right. We're going to go top five today. Guys my top five. This week is going to be because remember earlier in the week. You talked about being a hype. Man and i said that after flavor flav splits star. You're the third best man of all time. I was just talking heitmann. got me. Think about sidekicks right. So i decided today. We're going to do top-five psychics. Tj stop five sidekicks and again. This not necessarily what. I think of the five greatest but these are five that i really like and i'm really looking forward to hearing what everyone else. All right so coming in at number five everyone says the howard. Stern is the king of all media. Right sure all right so a great king needs a great queen. Yes robin quivers number five. You know howard as if you've watched the movie you know. He couldn't really be everything he wanted to be without robin kinda holding him down and keeping him in check someone. Give robin her flowers. And say the great robin quivers. I wanna recognize her as one of the best sidekicks back in the day when.

"Did somebody in the locker room talk about it or you just all just you know. Have your quiet conversations and then Strap on the chinstrap and go. Yeah so You know on the field kind of set. A prayer ended practice. Just a couple of plays early You know said that prayer and today We had a little meeting team meeting and Just talking about what's going on obviously We're all extremely sad for those guys like i said and that was reiterated but again Weren't in a fighting mood and that's kind of what harbaugh relayed to us. Is that You know we're we're. We're you know not backs up against the wall. But we're we're in a fighting though you know people are counting us out. People are saying this and that you know having these injuries but You know we got to be ready to go. We got a great team. We got a lot of great players. and we got a lot of fighters on this team. So that's what it's about for us. Mark andrews few minutes left here with the baltimore ravens pro bowl tight end fresh with a new four year contract extension right here on the rich eisen show. So what about the passing game. Can you tell us How dynamic can it be. This has been something that's been under the microscope. Microscope about stretching the field putting points on the board fast if you need to as opposed to the the grinded out method that your team is so famous for to protect elitebook. Can you tell us about that mark. We've done a great job of of one. We got We brought in to really good You know coaches when they're leaving receiving game and That a girl really comment. Jiro and what he's able to do You know we've worked really hard this offseason not as in training camp and throwing the ball and you know we've we've really been clicking so i think it's going to be dynamic. I know it's going to be dynamic and You know. I'm excited to go out there monday. Night against the raiders. Bill to show show the world we can do. Throw the ball around Let eight do his thing and as you know supporting cast is just help them out as much as we can play the favorite eight play that you mentioned eight. Lamar jackson i think for me was probably I think it was my rookie. Year chargers the first time we played them And then the chargers stadium Ran a line route Kind of right across the field. The martha perfect ball Right in stride and was able to score like a sixty year touchtone. I love that you chose a passing play. I think i'm certain. I'm serious because again it's remarkable guy was an mvp and still it's the same guy But it's usually the play like say him running one in against the titans last year in a playoff game that was so crucial team again man but again going to pass wants to me so that helps out there is no i and mark andrews a little bit they just heard when come out right there so With you taking on the las vegas writers on monday night football on westwood. One radio What's the biggest challenge. This raiders defense presents. It's a new defensive coordinator in in gusts bradley. What do you. what do you expect to see from them right. Yeah i know that you know they're gonna play hard they're gonna physical They're gonna run to the ball All those things that great defenses do And and you know they. They kind of that. You know seattle three system So we're going to be you know obviously expecting that looking at that and Their front seven or eight really is is really really good. And then Being detector secondary Which is which is going to be Obviously they they play a lot of zone being to see that and then be able to to fit in those zones is what we're looking for and then you know you'll have to have your head on a swivel there. It's the first time with fans. There's a nightclub i guess. There's all sorts of bells and whistles in that stadium at. I don't know if you did. They set up like a nightclub at practice. To sort of simulate what you're going to have to deal with and the game conditions roundup again. It's exciting to be able to play the first game in that stadium I know that place is gonna be rockin. You know as a football player. That's kind of what you live for On the road Everyone's doing Against you when you're on offense and build a quite that down So that's exciting for us man. That's what i look for. And i know this team you know kinda drives in that situation. Uncork your own bottle service game. Yeah little ravens on the rocks. What you're saying straight out on iraq. That's right okay very good hey mark andrews thank you for the time greatly appreciate it. Congrats on your gig and your in your deal Let's do this more often. I appreciate it catch you. That's mark andrews. Getting set for monday night. Football against the las vegas raiders. Right here on the rich eisen show mark andrews. Same marion of fighting mood at the team had a meeting. I mean that has to take place just like okay. We just lost two of our guys again. Yeah we lost two more of our guys. Let's talk about it. Get everything off our chest about anything. About how upset you are how angry you may be at the circumstances and let's go first up las vegas as may nice game. I mean the browns division. It's their division to win and loose asset. I think they've got the best top to bottom roster they really do. I know the ravens. You said that they're you know you just said they were deep team..

I play the role of somebody that i'm kind of familiar with and you play the role of somebody that you are familiar with. If you don't mind i'm going to play a guy who went to michigan okay. He's a leader in his field. his name is tom. And you play the role of tight end with a hall of fame resume. Okay and time going to be Let's go November first two thousand nineteen in the future not too distant future. Would you mind if we quickly role. Play the south one. Okay here we go one scene here. We go ready. Chris say action when you got okay. Right guys ready yes action. Hey roberts tom how you been good man. I've been doing great man. You're killing you're like forty two years old now. I mean yeah i know you miss do i do gronk. Do man we. It's not just me. It's it's everybody we all miss you and you know things are going great bills a pain in the ass. But it's really you know it's really. It's really something that could be better with you would you. Would you think of coming back and playing with me. Rob i mean you know. I miss you too. I missed the is but man. I'm down in the bahamas right now. Just relaxing gotten chip in my water. And i got. I got your electrolyte jimmy. Worry worry baby. I got electrolytes in the water and i'm sipping on a protein marguerita time. So thank you i love you. I missed you. But there's your three lacking homing there's no chance rob. This is tom. Tom you know. Call me when you get to the playoff. Probably rob your natural man you are. Could it sounded. That was lifelike to me. I thought two touchdowns last night ninety yards. I mean dude..

"Turn around year to year and the league is setup on that. He didn't say anything mike. Mayock how about stepping up to the plate and turned into mike gone and saying. We're gonna make the playoffs this year. We have a good enough team. And if we don't dizza problem. You're in las vegas and eight just at the craps table because they need to make the playoffs already. Jon gruden has a ridiculous contract. Mike mayock was a talking head on television when they gave him the gm job. I don't know if he's a pen. Pusher pencil pusher whatever. You wanna call them because he's not making all the decisions but chris. Enough is enough with the raiders. Come on it's ridiculous. They started the year eighty three last year. Rob gmi wrong. They started eighty three. The three years gruden's been they're they're they're canadair. Customer has been the start strong and fissile right every. There's not like david one games. Chris wright didn't they kansas city last year early on. I know they. They've shown promise here and there but they haven't been able to finish the job so let me ask you this route. Let's cut to the chase. If they don't make the playoffs washer happen. John goons should be can mike. Mayock should be period if that's a real organization if they're really trying to win if this is just a a love fast because the owner loves jon gruden and the grounding walks on then. He'll be coach forever. Chris 'cause 'cause when you have that kind of relationship is not built on result. And i keep saying sports as a short menu wins and losses and the raiders of loss way. Too many games would some of the talent that they have so enough with. Jon gruden do. We have to go back twenty years ago when he was a coach box. Go chris look at his last four or five years in tampa. He was bad that the team was bad. So now you look at jon gruden and use during those two together. It's been like eight or nine years to make the playoffs. I hear you out. And so i'm in agreement. What you're saying is jon. Gruden should be on the hot seat. And i am in agreement with you on that. Here's the thing and you alluded to it. I don't think he is now if they go they win. Three or four games finished last in that division. Then yeah he might. He might get fired but we all remember..

"Ask me in two three weeks. Yeah i think about this defensive line because at this point a lot of those guys have done certain things on an individual level. We've seen in goch way. i think. Effectively rush the passer for two different teams at ineffective level. We've seen max crosby since he was a rookie. Be the raiders. Best pass rusher okay. And there's no way to dispute that even if you wanna say nice things about clean for what you could. I mean he's done some different things on the inside. But look you got your fourth round pick. That's been better at the things you expect. A number four overall pick to do and you know we can say whatever we want. but when you're fourth round pick in his third year is on the starting line and your number four overall pick is the rotational guy. That's not an ideal situation. Okay so i just feel like in way has been a probably really good addition. I was struck by how effective he looked against andrew whitworth in those joint practices. I thought he was doing a nice job. He was being disruptive in the backfield but at the same time. Like that's a practice right. It's not like they were scheming for those guys up front. You know you're trying to run your stuff and you know what's coming and it's kind of like just okay. Well what are we going to do if this comes up. And how do we perform so. I think that once we see this team against a team like baltimore right. We're they're going to run the absolute bejesus out of the football. We know that. How are they going to be able to try to set up third long so that lamar jackson has to pass. Because if you can't stop the run against the baltimore team and we know how effective they are wanting football like that's just their mo and they've tried to get better passing the ball. They went out. They got sammy. Watkins draft sean bateman. He's going to be out for a little bit after undergoing groin surgery. But they're still going to run the hell out of the football like that's just who they are if you can't stop that then it doesn't really matter what you try to do to rush the passer because it's going to be third and two and third one the whole time and they're going to get they're going to get a first down anyway so i'm interested to see how they do against baltimore. And then how that affects what they do down the road because it you want to say that this defense looks lot better. I mean it did look a lot better in the joint practice that i saw but until they actually go out and prove it. You really don't know. And i think that this unit does have a lot to prove being lots prove. We know by henry rags brian edwards. That crew were there the flip side of the ball. Wide receivers What did you make the john brown situation with him asking to be released..

"It off right and you allow those guys to go further down the field and kick a field goal because you're adding fifteen yards to what it is that they're already doing so. You can't play that way and you certainly shouldn't be doing that in practice whether it's against your own team against somebody else's team. It's a little bit disrespectful. So i think that that's always been the thing. With abram kin you play controlled and disciplined and if he can channel all of the things that he does really well into playing an illegal way then yes like that is somebody who's going to look like he's worth the first round pick but if he continues to be undisciplined and just goes around and hits everybody you know you get friendly fire stuff too i. That's not helpful for anybody. I was curious now because you said you were down there with those joint practices. I did not know that all these little scuffles that happened down there roderick teamers name came up in the middle of a lot of them. He made the fifty three man roster. I wasn't quite sure that was going to happen with him. Originally visit. You get any takes on roderick teamer when you were down there and what did you think of him. And kinda the same thing that you just mentioned what abram being able to control himself in situations. Yeah you know. It's interesting too because my impression was like there. Were kind of some that the raiders were doing to just get the rams off their game and author tempo and like in some ways. That's good and others. It's not right because that means that you're getting less work than you want to in practice and so it's was sort of involved in those different kinds of things. But i think he's another guy where you look at the safety position and it's interesting because you just look at them and you think all right this is somebody where you can see him growing and you can see how he could grow and be effective in the defense and so i think that you know when you see him the preseason games and you see him fly around and run around and different things like that it makes it encouraging and safety is one of those positions. That's almost like running back on the offense where if you latch on and you can learn then you can grow a lot easier than in other positions. Where like defensive end. You know like you know usually who's going to be a very good defensive in right away but safety is one of those positions where covering the league. As long as i have just noticed that guys can come in. They can play special teams as safeties. And then you're down the road especially as undrafted free agents as they can then step in and be effective in the back end and so. I think that that's something that team could potentially do. Not not saying you know what i think that. He's one of those guys where eventually you can see him stepping up and making plays all right people who need to step up and make plays with this team miles and you know this because it was part of what needed to step up when you are here. We're here the defensive. Line the raiders. Done enough here with the guys that they've brought in jail mccoy. Solomon thomas unique and gakugei quinton jefferson. Are these guys going to be able to push the pressure when they need it. And are the guys. Like max crosby and unique and gawk way they going to be able to team up and really start getting some pressure on the quarterback here. Well i was struck by what mike mayock said in his press conference which was basically that the defense one hasn't done anything yet and they really need to step out and prove it and you know basically i believe he said like..

"And it's been fun for me to watch the evolution of both the draft picks in college free free agents. And what you're trying to do in the with free agency. I think from a draft pick perspective. It's kind of been fun again for your three for me to kind of look back at nineteen and see who's become leaders on this team you know and see some of those guys like even on the third day of the two thousand nineteen draft guys like max crosby Foster moreau hunter renfro offering them our leaders now along with cle- along with Josh john's been really good. Trayvon's had asthma so that that class is kind of growing up and for me. that's fun. see a mere three. The ronin amend now last year's group states took a little bit of step up. I think this year camp with two first round picks Rugs came in a little bit. Different guy You can feel his speed more than last year. I've liked the way he's approached this camp. And i think casey hayward's been really steadying influence on him. Brian edwards everybody's excited about john simpson's playing his tail off. And i think one of the cool stories of this camp is a meek emeka. Looks like the guy we saw back two years ago in college both inside and outside And then this year's group jimmy. Marcy goes to practice squad but everybody else's on team and there's been some pretty good stories there from top to bottom so That's a long way to say that It's like a jigsaw puzzle. It's kind of cool to see. Some of these guys grow up with fun. Watching this year's draft picks. I think they kind of are who we hope they would be. Las Vegas Raiders Draft Alex Leatherwood
"It's heidi here with sam gordon and we're gonna get into what happened. Here with the raiders at number seventeen in the nfl draft. Sam alex leatherwood offensive linemen from alabama selected. Seventeen for the. Las vegas raiders. What was your initial reaction. Because i know heidi first and foremost great to be here. I had a great time in cleveland. So far it's been a heck of an experience. Glad you're here With said In terms of your question definitely surprised right definitely surprised Not surprising right tackle. i Continued to voice leading up to the draft. I thought right tackle away to go was an obvious. Need in the offense of line of ministry of this team despite its it's consistent struggles. Last year's the offensive line was a pretty reliable unit and lot of turnover tram. Browns gone just going to be some reshuffling move out gave jackson you move out and you knew there was going to have to be some adjustments made and there was a glaring hole the right tackle and they went with right tackle so i they feel the need but just now player. I thought they'd fill that need with and you look at how the board was shaking out. Thought christian dare saw. I was going to be big especially considering what his grade was. And and and where. The raiders were picking. He wasn't now that said just because alex leatherwood is a surprise and we didn't expect him to be there doesn't mean he won't be a good player but it feels like more often than not the raiders. Under jon gruden. Mike mayock have reached for players that they could have gotten later and are maximizing the value of their first round picks damon are net in twenty twenty was a good example. That and even cleveland farrell. Who's a very good player by the way in the top five and twenty nineteen so a couple so with that in mind. I think alex leatherwood at trend. But the jury's still out on how good he's going to be i think he has a lot of potential beauge player was an all american big-time film comes from a big time program and he's gonna get his opportunity to prove mike. Megan jon gruden ryan look. I want to be optimistic about this. But i think there were other guys that were on the board. That had a lot of potential. And the raiders did go out here and they went out on a limb

So i'm gonna play that here on this show. I also was able to sit down with john. Simpson the offense of guard from the raiders drafted at clemson in twenty twenty. I went through what his experience was like. Would it was like for him to be on the field and most importantly what it's gonna be like for him stepping into a bigger role in twenty twenty one so we're gonna get into that right now. Johnson john thank you so much for taking the time to join us today me so this is a big opportunity for you this year. Coming up i want to go back and talk a little bit about your your draft and what that experience was like for you as looks to be number seventeen coming in this year. Forty eight lots of options for the raiders to pick But you experience. I wanna go back. What was that like for you last year. Going through the draft process of twenty twenty Last year i just it was. It was very weird said at least covert a but i. I was fortunate enough to have a pro day are pretty over the last week that it had in Four that we had a combined stuff like that. So i was fortunate enough to have things was able to participate in building and that ability will be on full display in the coming season. The offensive line has had a lot of shifting a lot of shaking out. So i'm curious for you. What is the opportunity like for you looking ahead to twenty twenty one opportunity is really what whatever i make. I just gotta work work as hard as i can. You know try to starting job on is really up for grabs. Still a few older guys in there. And i'm sure you're gonna be hard as they can. I will be too. I'm up at a lot of the games and allegiance stadium. And i've always noticed that when it's pre-game you're out there you're going through the mental snaps in your head. You're working through everything on the field. How much of the process for you is mental more so than just the physical training Take majority of its Majority of it is mental physical. Part if you have. You don't in the but like i said earlier. This is really just a mental game at this point for me. Just figuring out everything make sure i had everything down pag and just taking the rise footsteps and stuff there's a lot more To know so definitely a lot mentor. Best reflection on your rookie season when you go back and you look at what life was like as a rookie. Coming into the nfl. What was that like for you. Mark my rookie season was definitely A rocky i mean. Everyone has their different courses. Whatever miles laws a little crazy for me to say lease because You know growing up football was always easy. House tape like netflix. It wasn't his challenging suffering. Best describes last year was just like. Wow this is the real deal. So i just had. It really grasped that concept. You just know that. Look this same middle school high school causing more. This is big league. So i had to overcome that. I didn't ask you about the draft experience but when you got the call who was it that it was on the phone with you as it may awkward gruden. What was what was it. It was It was because i was actually. It was the third day i watched. I watched the whole second day In house kinda like discouraged. Well you know. I don't find on go so it was pretty much like a i was. I wanna have been morning. We'll work out as somebody you know somebody. I decided i wanted to go work out. Or whatever mile in the kid Actually started cut here. Here cover my dad in. I was still in the chair. Got the call it. Everybody started yell at around the like donald. Who is is but it was. It was coast in the in the he told me he told. Me of. Las vegas raiders. Sir coming into the raiders is probably a kind of easy transition for you in the sense of you had a lot of clemson brothers already down there playing silver and black so when you came in there and you have all of these guys that have been a part of that clinton team for you. What was it like to see. Some of them on the raiders field. And was it easy for you to kind of approach them and ask for advice or tips that things like that as he came in deadly on us working out so i was working when i came through for we training camp so i talked to him a lot. Now hundred throw all those us plea we. They all helped me out a lot in cleveland on defense line. He does things that. I need to work on more stuff like that. So i was good at getting feedback. Those guys just Let let let me know that they got no matter. What and as far as the veterans that you had last season Richie incognito rodney hudson and a lot of guys. There were able to kind of set the tone of that offensive line. You had a good group of guys had a ton of years in the nfl to learn from. What is your take away from anything that they have passed onto you. And who did you up to most Dollars guys been talking a whole lot. They didn't have to say much but it was just the way they they came out every day. Ready to practice Those guys they like. I said he didn't have to say much at all. But it always was like i was always watching. Those guys dislike seeing what they do how they do in Going through the motions by bad like this foot working small things like that just everything that they did. Try to keep i am. I know those guys won't be infused. I remember reading something that said that you have modeled a lot of your game after richie incognito what did you take away from his specifically you talked a little bit there but it was anything really specific risk. He's just very aggressive when it comes to plan And that's how i wanna be a just. He has a mindset. That no one's better than him you know in kind of Could off his Be just a very greedy He's gonna do duty to do with his red or what is one word was. So what's it been like living here in las vegas for you as a transition coming into the city. Like and being part of the inaugural season and for the raiders is definitely It's been crazy This cities is it's amazing. It's crazy how nice it is a reduc- mountains and i'm not at all so but besides that was hard niceties dislike in it. Is you know like come here. Working just fisher so as you look ahead to twenty twenty one. What do you set out for yourself. What are your. What are your goals for yourself. How are you gonna build upon last season goals shared just to be better than i was last year. I kind of simple.

"And no there were things going on on the raiders locker room. That people felt like maybe they weren't focus so they don't want juju. Smith schuster roused. But i will say. I don't think juju is gonna fall in the rate as price. Because i believe he's gonna cost maybe fifteen sixteen million on the mark in arrears. Just don't have the money to spend at wide receiver when they have so many defensive needs. You don't want to spend fifteen sixty million dollars on a wide receiver. So i think nelson agholor will be more affordable and again as a mentioned he already has a report derek carr so if he costs maybe ten eleven million. You try to sign a charter resign. Him and keep that keep us together. You've said two things in that There that i just have to touch on now. Mind games. And derek carr There's people out there who you know. I've been talking to shawn watson talking. Russell wilson up. And that doesn't mean that. The raiders are looking to seek out their services for the twenty twenty one season by any means Derek carr has had three seasons in a row with over four thousand yards thrown and the touchdown last year twenty-seven a quarterback rating. You know one hundred one four and a low level interceptions on that though the fumbles. I think he's going to work on that this year Getting sacked from his blindside. Losing balls there especially at atlanta game six out when you look at that. But i guess i track anyway though. The point is on the question. I'm trying to ask you is right now. Obviously i think if car were to field offers it would be more than more coming that way than it is that the raiders are trying to shop him. So what do you think. All the talk is right now. That people want to look at guys. Like deshaun watson and russell wilson why raider fans not sold on car. And why does this always come up every year after year after year. You're going to get me in trouble because this conversation usually just goes left on twitter. But that's just you and me. We could go into this but you're in a safe place. This is definitely a safe place. But raiders fans. I understand if you're listening to. I get it. You wanna go to the playoffs. And you wanna win games in dirt and haven't done that very much. Derek carr i know he had the two thousand sixteen season but it seems and this is a word that i'm using from other fans. This seems more like a fluke than something that you know you can build on because there after that he comes back off the broken ankle and fall apart. Seventeen i know. He had a pro bowl year but deficient seasons. You would hope. And they don't make it back to the place episodes and they have to back. They have back to back collapses over the last two years with their cars. Your quarterback in they're wondering fans are wondering no what's going on and some say well it's the defense and i get it. The defense hasn't good in. And how long if you had a middling defense. You're probably have a playoff team. But how long have you been saying that if you have. If the raiders defense was just decent doesn't have to be top ten. It was just decent the reagan. Plus we've been hearing that for so long and fans are hoping that gus bradley can fix that. But as far as car and all the rumors his car is a good qb. he's not. He's not russell wilson. He's not patrick. Mahomes obviously but i believe he's in that he's on that fringe of top ten..

"If he's not ready to play full-time starter again. I will look at the safety position because you can use your free safety to cover for your cornerbacks. If you're cornerback struggle cover indeed. Line your safety back there. ten yards. Beyond the line of scrimmage hagan covers some blind spots back the so i think safety being the most more affordable position versus. Cornerback eagle after a top safety. If you can't get a patch peterson. Or if. You're not confident that richard sherman can hold up for full season. We're going to take a quick break but when we come back. We're going to hear from raiders. General manager mike mayock stay tuned right here on the takeaways edition of.

"That's i'm going to be joined by mo moten from bleacher report. He's a columnist there as well as with silver and black today but before we get into the interview with him. Big news to report. Gabe jackson offensive lineman for the raiders was announced to be released today. And as we've been talking about with the off season series. With sam gordon ny as well as on this podcast. It's going to free up a lot of room here on that cap for the raiders. The salary cap right now crunch down to one hundred and eighty million dollars and with the cutting and release gave jackson. That should free up about nine point. Six million dollars as well. that's what he was due For this coming season twenty. Twenty one moment and i had talked about what that could do before that happened. And also we're going to hear from mike miano win About some of the things that they're looking at so we're going to get right now is the and getting going for them on the upside and twenty twenty one. Point of focus for the raiders in this offseason is going to be the defensive front the defensive line. they're probably gonna look to invest a lot of money there in trying to get some pickup. So where do you think they start with that. And where do you think they're gonna be able to make money to make that kinda move on. That's the two big questions. But they get hassle. Start out with the defensive line If they're radically speaking. Because johnny the hankins is a free agent So you wanna fill that spot. You wanna run stuff from the middle E- also wanna pass rush only interior That's been a big sore. Spot for the raiders. So i think they need to start. The defensive line thing is going to be a free agent and then You need interior. Pass rush to help out. A max crosby uncleaned for on the outside but i think when it comes to agency being that the raiders of limited with their cash. You gotta start the safety.

GSMC Fantasy Football Podcast
Patriots may soon have to deal with their first Antonio Brown issue and it has to do with his number
"We have to talk about the biggest storyline in the NFL Antonio Brown as it looks like the saga for Antonio in some ways is finally ending and in other ways. It's just beginning for number eighty four as Antonio uh-huh Brown signs a one year proved deal with the New England patriots and it's hilarious because there is so much speculation when all his shenanigans with the Oakland Raiders for going on that really it was just a grand master plan for Bill Bella check to somehow land the all world talent wide receiver in sure enough he gets released from the raiders and later that day signs deal with the New England patriots another huge weapon in the offense four. Tom Brady and this has shades of what Randy Moss did did when he was with the Oakland Raiders. Moss spent some time in Oakland during his games he played for the raiders. You could just see that the big hall of fame wide receivers hardest wasn't in it. He wasn't really producing for the raiders he was now running routes with this full heart. You can just tell that he wasn't the Randy Moss when he was sooner in Oakland and then he goes to the Patriots under Bill Belichick and has a career year a record setting year with Tom. Brady Brady threw for fifty touchdown passes does that offense was just a cold plays away from being the first team to go perfect nineteen in Oh as they were trying to catch the seventy two dolphins they lose of of course the super bowl to the tremendous comeback led by Eli Manning and the New York giants. Is this going to be just like that. Are we gonNA see a patriots team. That could possibly go undefeated after Sunday night. That's a very real possibility that defense for the Patriots absolutely shut down the steelers and and if they know they're gonna get just a boatload of points on the offensive side of the ball you know Bill Belichick GonNa give all of his time and effort to making sure that that defense is ready eighty each and every week for their match. Make sure everyone's healthy ready to go that the scheme is right and we very well could see a run at history again in New England might right sound a bit presumptuous just in week one but the steelers are a classic. AFC favorite especially when they had the big three Bell Brown and Rothlisburger now with two of those three pieces Gone Smith Schuster looks to pick up the slack for Antonio Brown but now yet to find someone to pick up the slack for Juju at that wide receivers Chris to spot you also gotta be be frank here that James Connor is not living on bell. We saw that in that game Sunday night so the steelers were still a good test defensively civilly always are fantastic and brady made them just look like a peewee football team out there as he had no problem going for thirty three points in that game and pass over three hundred honored yards. You put a be in that mix with Josh Gordon Julian Edelman the running back tandem of James White as well as Sony Michelle is going to be a really tough challenge to beat this patriots team and because of that you who who's to say I mean they they could do it. They could do it you. You can't say they can't there. There is a real world possibility with the addition of Antonio Brown that the Patriots could make some history but now we gotta look back at how this came to be an Antonio oneal brown you could tell really from the Gecko once he got into camp once he started running some routes with Derek Carr in this raiders offense something clicked in his head that he did not want. I WANNA be in Oakland. I mean he did the cryotherapy happens and you chalk that up to operator malfunction with the frostbite on the feet then he goes on this insane escapade with the helmet trying to get all that taken care of in think in trying to use his old helmet. He's used forever he. He's had six months to do it and he doesn't think that's enough time to find a new helmet. I mean he's not looking for new kidney. He just needs a helmet you. There's ways to figure that out to make it fit and make it. It'd be comfortable everyone else in the NFL did it why couldn't he that becomes an issue. He's stays out of training camp. He doesn't do the walk throughs. The helmet issue did not mean he couldn't couldn't practice with the team he did that on his own accord and then he goes after the general manager of the raiders after he gets fine for actions he knows our final. He did them with that in mind. There wasn't like that fine just came out of the sky on him and Mike mayock gets verbally costed by Antonio Brown he goes on a barrage. I use of slayer of slurs cuss words to Mike May Auchan your raiders still still planned on playing him in there Monday night game against the broncos broncos that says a lot about the raiders as an organization that they were willing to take this abuse from Antonio Brown and take all this Prima Donna behavior behavior that was happening with Ab and still play him Monday night when he's barely practice with the team we talked earlier in the season here here on this show about how Antonio Brown by taking all this media attention has helped the raiders rookies developed because they haven't had to deal with it and that's still true in the lot of the raiders rookies have talked talked about in themselves and the second year players have said by having Antonio Brown. It's been nice that they haven't had to deal with the media coverage and hard knocks and that was really a lot more centered around Antonio Brown but he's also had a terrible example as an a way to conduct yourself as professional with what he's done with the raiders clearly didn't want to be there show the the reaction video when he finally gets released from the raiders and all of that finally goes down and I think the raiders are better off for it you if you're going to establish a new culture in Oakland. You can't have this going on in your locker room on your sideline. You need to get Antonio Brown out of out of there if he wants out all the better let him go you cut your losses just saved a lot of money by voting that twenty nine million that you would yet. You'RE GONNA pay him over the three years Antonio Brown you get your wish you go you get to play for the Patriots I think both sides can kind of wash their hands of the issue but now the rest of the NFL has to deal with the Patriots and Tom Brady having Tony Brown as viable and very real. You'll weapon for them

He was asked about <hes> the situation with antonio brown on on the n._f._l. Network before the game what's going on right now with oakland. Not not a light is clear yet other than that. The raiders said that a._b. Should stay home today. They're trying to work through their relationship with him. We haven't heard anything about a potential decision yet. I've been in touch with jon gruden. Mike mayock from the raiders of course antonio. We're trying to work through this. The goal is really to work everything out antonio tonio. Antonio Brown Facing Discipline From Raiders
"Huge n._f._l. News out of oakland according to adam schefter the raiders are planning to suspend antonio jio brown who reportedly had an altercation for general manager mike mayock yesterday after brown posted and complained about mailbox letter informing the receiver. He was being fined for missing practice practice according to the n._f._l. Network in rappaport brown said he would punch maniac in the face punted the ball and shouted finally for that repertoire also reported that a suspension could cost thirty million dollars in guaranteed money. I've been saying throughout the off season. I don't think a b wants to play football anymore and he's been doing a bunch of things in succession to keep screaming. I really don't wanna play football ball but that's my narrative has been my narrative. What do you all think and marceau's start us off. What do you think this latest incident says says about antonio brown i i've been in the process if you've been watching me sit at this table starting to micro into fan man you've been defending the he's a little light into pockets right now maybe to the tune of thirty million dollars because of his temper tantrum through and i'm going to be a little light in the pocket because i'm returning to retainer his defense attorney for eight months. This guy is full of himself and ask something we throw around a lot but we don't see it a lot like to this dose to this level when you are trying to play the ultimate team sport sport as an individual and i've been on some teams with devious some hall of famer to that did it their way but i've not seen it done this way and ever turns into success for not only the team but even the player like to derail yourself. This far off offer would is central to what the team needs in terms of your performance and your personality is really defeating so sorry antonio brown but a new evidence gives me new information which gives me a new outlook towards what he's trying to do it right now. I think he's a man lost. He's not living in reality. Dashes period the crazy thing though when you look at the letter mike sincerely mike may up. He was trying to let him know. I wanna be friendly you. You've got to understand when you do what he did the cryotherapy you can't practice the helmet fiasco. Oh we got that situated. Oh now it's another now the problem with the helmet when they came out and said either you all in or you all out that he should have known right dan in their day not plan with me no more and so for you you okay you post. I don't know exactly what happened today. They may i say something to him about posting it on his instagram or did he say. I don't know how that happened but you gotta understand they not playing with. You know no more living reality understand. This could be all white. This thirty million dollars. You got is all gonna you got. You're gonna regret this five years food. Look at the guys before you look at you. They put him out. The league probably could have played a couple more years. I play which i believe was more talented antonio brown he only played eleven years because ant learned from the people that came before you. He's not living in reality and it's going to bite him in a buddy. He's going to regret at four to five years from now. I'm gonna take a tablet of a different approach to this and the different for an angle. I think mike and jon gruden have to do something that may or may not have happened in pittsburgh. I think they have to take a step back and see antonio brown as a human.

Antonio Brown facing possible suspension
"Antonio uh-huh brown and the raiders day got issues. Antonio brown basically came out today taunting the organization and saying that helmet thing. I made a bunch of money on it yesterday. He basically on instagram. Put out a letter. The raiders sent him about a fine in the raiders like any organization. Don't want to be taunted by an employee that stuff's discreet confidential. You know what those letters go in public so mike mayock and antonio brown got into ugly situation today. It says it looks like he's going to be suspended bended now. It should be noted. The adam schefter tweet said looks like he could be suspended. Maybe jon gruden doesn't want him suspended. So now you could have mic mac and jon gruden battling. I wouldn't have gotten maybe not into needy people not in a needy wide receivers odell beckham in cleveland. I've said it before. I think jarvis landrieu still be there in five years. I don't think odell beckham would be a not a t. O. guy. I'm not an show guy. I'm not an antonio brown guy. I'll take doodoo smith schuster and pittsburgh berg is not as good but he's ninety percent a._b. Without the nonsense so this is the very latest on this stuff as more happens. We'll discuss

AB reacts to fines from Raiders, has new helmet
"We have to address a couple more here. We're gonna start in with exactly what is going on in oakland oakland with antonio brown's so many things have happened. It's hard to keep track of and hard knocks being there to help the situation for the raiders in dealing with their star wide receiver and the various antics surrounding him the helmet issue has been well documented for some time for those who don't know antonio browns helmet that he has used his entire career was deemed illegal by the n._f._l. It wasn't safe enough for antonio so he decided to filed a suit saying that he wasn't enough time to adequately find a helmet. He likes to wear for the games. He filed two different grievances. Both it did not fly with the n._f._l. And he lost both of them so he has had to find a helmet he has reported to camp the newest thing being he has has been fined by mike mayock general manager for missing so much time with the team. Antonio brown has stated how upset he is about these fines being levied on on him but frankly i love antonio brown's charisma. I love the way he uses the media to help him and you got to think about the raiders in with hard knocks with everything around their team right now media wise. There's a lot of scrutiny jon gruden being signed that ten year one hundred million dollar contract trading khalil mack trading amari cooper everyone in the n._f._l. Media is trying to keep tabs on what's going on in oakland and antonio brown by taking taking so much of that media heat. He has really made it easier for guys like p._j. Hall arden key cleveland feral jonathan abrams josh jacobs all these rookies and second year players that really have some potential have not had to deal with this media blitz because antonio has been there to kinda shield them from that and on that side i think that the raiders as an organization as a fan base need to thank antonio brown for taking that heat off of their other players so they can develop and really dig into the system not having to worry about media relations however now with this new grievance hopefully it's nothing between antonio brown and mike mayock. They can just move past. It's obvious that he had to get fined for missing so much time with the

Cut, trade or keep Derek Carr? Weighing Raiders' options with QB
"Derek Carr was an MVP caliber guy not long ago, then this year adapting John, obviously supporting cast trading away. Amari Cooper, Paul knows better than anybody is Jon Gruden in your opinion, sold on Derek Carr moving forward or will he have be tempted to look at Cuyler Murray with that pick number four in the first round, he's tempted, and he kinda showed his hand a little bit at the senior bowl when he talked about how he's had to throw away all of his prototypes. When he looks at quarterback when it comes to the height weight speed kinda marriage a little guy. But he said until drew Brees started doing what he was doing until he saw what Russell Wilson did. And now with Carla Murray in his lone year, really as a starter in college. Yeah. I think he's tempted, but he's also kind of ramping up a little interest there because as Mike Mayock himself said if there's a cluster of guys at Ford that you don't really love then you train out of that. And so. A lot of different schools of thought going on here. I do think that the Jon Gruden likes. Derek Carr a lot. And he did improve a lot down the stretch when he wants to started getting used to John to John system and really when you look at their past. There's only been one year where he's had the same system in consecutive seasons. And that was the year as you mentioned that he played in a league MVP candidate level and that was in two thousand sixteen. So I think they're real interesting to see how he's going to go there. I don't think that dissuades him from from looking at Karla Murray and ramping up that interests a little more. But you know, the salaries already guaranteed at nineteen point nine million. So that that kind of answered the question there too. I

Oakland Raiders hiring draft analyst Mike Mayock as general manager

One is a guy who's so involved with the draft that may Aachen Gruden opposite sets all those years evaluating talent. Now, they're together for those that may not know Mike Mayock has been a draft analyst for the NFL network for years and called Notre Dame football for a few years as well or analysts for the booth that we were in.
