"You know. He's he's versatile wide and line move them he can block. He competes he. I mean he is like super legit. You know when. I saw those joint practices against the dolphins dolphins. Eric rowe is their designated tightness. I you know that's the guy. I showed on waller. They and he was given it some the row one his battles to before rookie. He's just too big matt ryan. Throw the ball nine feet near. He's going to catch. There's nothing you can do regardless of your coverage and that's a great tool to have with hayden hearst It's the other option a tight end. I mean what jesus. But i mean pits pitches real. What people really want to know. Though steve is should they select kyle pits with the fourth round. Pick in their fantasy. Draft cassettes gums going downs downs. All right all right there you go. They're not going to run it in. Kampot you throw to pit team the The listeners by the way who sent me their rosters full of my faves from the fantasy spectacular. I don't know sold my takes better this year. But i don't remember this in the past but everyone's just sending me all the rosters of all my favorite. So that's cool down and also in fairness because we did throw some shade earlier daniel jeremie also a color analyst. That does not have nfl experience. So that's better than me as well. He climbed the mountain is. That's true he works for a team. That's that's true. Meena meena is another one that stands out but i love. We need more of these. I think they add a lot to a booth alongside like an ex player. It's the perfect perfect mix. Let's now move straight into it. He is a stalwart senior. Writer at the athletic covers the nfl. He covers the raiders. And maybe nobody does it better. Welcome back to the around. The nfl podcast vic tayfur even got his last name correctly pronunciation. This time i'm on fire. How about you vick. i'm on fire. let's go all right guy. He's kind of like maybe amn. The best covering the raiders. Come on all right vic. So your boots on the ground. With the raiders. This is a big season obviously for that whole organization and before i get your opening thoughts. Let's just hear from the general manager. Mike mayock who spoke with the media this week and made no bones about it. It's time for progress in the form of relevant january football. Here's what may i had to say. We think we're going to be a pretty good football team. we're not hiding from expectations. I think john and i were both tell you that we feel like we need to be a playoff team this year. And i don't think there's any doubt about that. And you guys are all going to put that and your headlines and and i understand it But we're not i mean. That's what the expectation is. We think we've done The infrastructure work necessary to put us in position. And we gotta take care of business. Well how say you victims. Do you think they've done the proper amount of infrastructure work to make this a playoff team. I do enjoy advice to put it in our headlines. Like hey this guy. This important jazz focused on this but I thought i thought. Actually your four. For jon gruden so i would thought last year might have been kind of a doer di on a year but i get the time line now on this year. It's a tequilla for derek. Carr contractors is the last year before they have to kind of extension. Mike max paul himself on hoc- a little bit so i think they've got more talent on defense. Obviously i think Yadda mugabe was a big time signing off. Our mortgage is really good safety Tcu i still question adapts. Death is still a pretty big issue for them so but i agree with the whole. Playoffs are blessed of metallica. I'm not quite sure they're when white there yet but there there definitely gotten a little closer mac. Looks like he's in pretty good shape. He might be competing with isis. Like the best best in shape over fifty guy not to you there steve. No i'm very vic knows. Vicky v a vicar. Back the miami herald dick years. Were you there like ninety i was. I'm stuck closed. some old. yes we're back their longtime longtime ago. I can't remember how far back spoke a user. Here's a have. Here's what i hear when when people say like you know it's it's a maker break year for for who gruden has got the ultimate you know landing landing pad. I mean for mayock. I mean you know you know mike. Mike's great scout does all this scrutiny. Final say i mean. Mark davis ain't gonna pull the plug on grew to fibers left on that deal Well may i might have been speaking about himself. And maybe derek carr to me. Maybe it's a little bit of projecting he might know they need to be the playoffs or gruden. We'll find someone else to but the problem here right vic i mean and mike mayock. Frankly probably the problem here these. These are systemic issues that maybe go beyond the quarterback. This team could score points. We were just talking about it. And it max. Being set up as the sacrificial lamb here like i i. if. I'm a raiders fan. I feel good about the basic structure this organization for years into this thing got some bad batteries. Signings bad draft picks last three or four years in before that you know we've had one winning season years. That's a lot. A lot of a lot of bad draft picks lot of bad freezing signings aside. I think hopefully got right this year. And then one big bullet to shoot that was in gateway and he by all means and better. She's gain weight. Wants to show is like a three guide on pass rush specialist. He's come in here. Max crosby really connected there. Maximum great shapes. They feel they have like chew wheel. Bona fide pass rushers the first time a long time so for them. That's been a huge issue. Stained by mentioned merry earlier them had a real center fielder. A safety for awhile actually make plays vicence charles. Woodson woodson was. You're not wasn't as prime when he was a second time. So even that's about the high bar you would think you would be..

He Speaks out which, if you're the president is just be fine with, but it's trumpet. He's that's that's not who he is. Trump loyalty thing is a big thing. It's a big part of his story of his deal. And it's part of I think what motivates him and part of what Hurts him. For lack of a better word. I don't know. I don't think I'm speaking out of school. When I say that Like one of the things that got announced was that, um Vice president Pence and President Trump spoke for the first time since The riot happened last week. They spoke for the first time yesterday. Right, Um That's on Trump. And this whole conversation of Mike Pence is really angry. But I don't know how you could tell. But the fact that they took a week for them to me. That's That's trump and that's a problem. You know, even when you look at the timeline of the riots, if you're vice president is there at the Capitol there's writing and you're not checking in on him. People are gonna say Yeah, that's messed up, man. That's not stuff. That's too myopic. Now. It could have gone like this. Where's pence? They got him out, sir. Okay. And then back to ramping, right? I don't know. I'm not in the room. Yeah. You do some of the things you pick up the phone and you call. These are the self inflicted wounds of Donald Trump. They cannot be denied. I never have denied them goes back to the Helsinki Press conference. Right with Vladimir Putin on the bad press conference. No, it was okay to say it was a bad press conference. Itwas His policies towards Russia. Not only right, but so right that the bite administration is expected to keep from going. Deeds versus words of that man, right? But when you don't call, let's be like, Hey, you all right, Mike Max. I is awkward. So I'm sure that meaning was awkward and somebody wrote it as they had a daytime. They didn't have a date tons. Mike Pence knows what he's been dealing with the whole time, which gets into a home Mike Pence conversation. Look, people know the vice president far better than me. I don't know him well and I'm a little bit. I've been fortunate enough to have some interesting conversations. With him as vice president, and then when he was governor. Of Indiana. And when he first when I first got here, I was pretty sure you didn't like me. We actually met for the first time on a plane. Washington, D. C. I didn't know He knew who I Woz. I wasn't really like their idea Mornings in Indianapolis on WNBC Radio. And hey, how are you? Good to meet you. He was sitting three rows behind me, which made me feel great. And nobody. Sorry. I was not first class at that time. Whoa! It was it was. It was a late last minute flight. I had to do what I had to do right? It's it's totally beneath me. I agree. I fly in a suit. I fly first class is I don't have cable. But I fly to suit I fly first class. I have got rules. You wanna fly me out for an event? I will happily do it. You could get with producer Ari. He will book it all, but that that's just that's just that you don't pay for the suit the first class ticket. Yeah, that's just one of my things. Really have really have nothing else that bothers me. I don't care that I don't care about the rest. Right. Well, there's my feet. There's mother. Is that right? I don't care about after that, After those two things I don't care. Um But if if If pence. He's angry about something. I don't know how there's a way to know, right. There's no way T know that. He's not gonna let that out. Unless it's what these most trusted, trusted trusted advisors. That's not gonna be me here. They're going to tell me now. Maybe after the presidency when I When I get chance to talk to him, maybe tell me something. He would tell me in confidence. And I'm the guy who's not gonna share that story, so I don't know. I can't imagine him though. Having some kind of Big loud, angry. How dare he? How dare trump etcetera. One of the questions that constantly comes up about pence. Is the following. How could he stay with him? It's what people to judge, the incoming transportation secretary would say in the campaign trail. How could Mike Pence? Call himself a Christian? And I always said that is why people the judge is such a smarmy guy. Low rent and low class, really and truly ugly, ugly cat. And I worry about him having a political future in America because that's the line that's despicable because anybody who spent any time Would ration would reason there are two reasons. Amongst others. Maybe Number one. Let us not deny that Mike Pence is a politician. Not above it.

"Asking today since winning the Super Bowl Jon Gruden. 63 79 the regular season and Owen to in the postseason. In 2020. Is he an overrated head coach? Now on the responses here. Trace should I do? Yes. Overrated. No. Dr dot good coach. Also the two answers, right? Is that a fair way to phrase it should we phrase it a different way. It's not. That's the wrong one. I'm just trying to get the no answer. I guess. Yeah. Here's what I say is overrated. If I told you that there's a coach That 10 year deal $100 million going into it, and I said this from the start that Jon Gruden set up to fail with the Raiders. If you're on a contract of 100 melt 100 million for 10 years. Don't you gotta win more than one Super Bowl like you in one Super Bowl success. People will be happy in that moment. But if you don't get Two Super Bowls and a 10 Year deal for $100 million. I'm not going to go as far to say since the disaster because at least you got one But the chances of you hitting a home run on this contract. It's just not very good. Now. Maybe if you get one Super Bowl I guess it's an overwhelming maybe success now looking at it because the Raiders since 2000 and three Like I said in the open, have one winning season. Zero playoff wins $12 double digit losing seasons and their 99 1 87 as a franchise. So going into that contract. I remember saying on the air, he's gotta win two Super Bowls. Now Can you win one Super Bowl? And through the first three years of four wins the first year. Last year, 79 after a six and four start. And then this year starts off the year six and three, and there's seven and seven right now. So it may be the Super Bowls if you want to use that, as the barometer Wouldn't you say this trace if your coach making $10 million a season $100 million over 10 years, Don't you had a bare minimum have to be a top 10 coach in the league. Right? That's a that's a fair statement. Totally take the Super Bowls out of it because we know how tough it is to win in this league. The goal should be to win. You have to be a top 10 coach in this league each and every year on that on that contract. Your team's got to be in the mix, whether it's for the Super Bowl weather for the play offs like you, You got to be a contender almost year in year out, I have done probably 345 shows. Throughout the last three years, we've talked about top 10 coaches. You don't hear Jon Gruden's names mentioned. You don't Since winning that Super Bowl. This guy has been an overrated head coach, and I like Jon Gruden. Let's call it how it is. And if you can't make the playoffs once in the first three years? Yeah, they're not gonna fire you because you're on a 10 year deal. Do. I think this team is Inching closer and closer to the playoffs. Sure, they made a jump 4 to 7 last year. But this year they made all these improvements on the roster. You hear about all look at all the weapons car has Mariana came in last night was fine. Defense stinks. So they patch up the defense. Maybe they have something, but should I trust Derek Carr in a big spot? I shouldn't because he goes from looking like the undertaker on the sideline up against the cheese to then get in smacked. Against Atlanta. Barely beating the Jets. Ran out of their own building against the Colts. And last night. You're going up against the Chargers, where Keenan Allen had nothing. Mike Williams had nothing and you'll lose in a game that you have to win to keep your playoff hopes alive. Jon Gruden's on top 10 coach right now. Getting paid like one. He's not. It shows you just because you win a Super Bowl does not mean we need to elevate you into greatness. And maybe I'm at fault on that, too, because when Doug Peterson want to sue price at all Top five coach Even going into this year. They got him in the top five. Coach. At least top six And Doug his coach's ass off since one of that Super Bowl back to back playoff years, And then this year we're seeing some problems, and there's a lot of questions. So do I think this Jon Gruden air is going to be a success. I think the standards in the states of so high because he's on $100 million contract for 10 years that it's tough for me seeing this work out well, and I, It's not like I hate the organization. Make Mike Max. One of my favorite guests have ever talked to I want him to do well. Jon Gruden. I like Jon Gruden. What progress is being made when you were in the same exact spot his last year, and you projectile vomited on yourself once again. And it's not as if they're losing to these great teams. Last four games. You were smoked by Atlanta Atlanta stinks. The Jets. You could barely beat them the Jets or maybe the worst team of all time. The Colts, and they're going to probably be in 11 1 team. You shouldn't get blown out like you did in the second half. And the Chargers. They find the way to lose almost every game in terrible fashion, and you pulled to charge your last night. It's a problem..

"Well, and if they join, and they go to the virtual meetings, they can add to your numbers and add their voice to all American Legion members. When you go up to the capital and start working on veteransissues up there, so it's just another really good way to be come involved to the extent of time. You're absolutely right. And what just happened with the special session and we didn't get the Justice Restoration Act for our veterans path is One of the reasons why we need these young veterans to join. Join the American Legion. So like you said, we have the numbers behind us. We can say we have 70,000 veterans, uh, voicing their concern and you guys need Tio start listening to us and pass. The bills that need to be passed. Solal you that are out there. Eligible veterans sign up, either in person there are check out the virtual American Legion and lend your voices of those efforts. Mac Mike. It sounds like a lot going on with legion these days. I understand that this week you made a donation of the medical center. Yes, sir. Jeremy will still our department service officer. Contacted the National Operation Comfort Warriors office and explain to them we had a need for 50 ipads at our VA hospital here in Minneapolis. You know, with the lock down over there, and families could not get in to see you know their loved ones that are You'll be in the hospital. So, Jeremy Wade, get some iPad. We can Give these to our veterans who were in the hospital and they can connect with their families. So Operation Comfort warriors took a look at his application and granted us the 50. I passed. To the tune of about 18 to $20,000. So I've had we received them this past week. And I believe Thursday. We are going to present him to the hospital, and they're going to distribute them to Ah to the patients that need to connect with their families. So yeah, that was pretty exciting, and it was great work by Jeremy Good work guys, and that it's just another example of one of your very important partnerships with other organizations such as the Minneapolis, Va. "Oh Man, yeah so it looks like trump has tweeted Mike Max Mac. KS. That's close enough. so it is pretty amazing. yes, a star is born I think they've made. One original movie one remaking now mic Mac. This sequel. Maxxie Mike Max all you guys in the toy. Guys do think you know you've got it all figured out because you can cover the bats the balls and yeah, you know you're great. You know you know everything. There is about sports well. Why don't you just get out on the streets in in an emergency and a chaotic way? Yeah, with with tear-gas. Why don't you try that? Dan, yeah, no, there's. We talked about it yesterday. There's no denying it the thing that. Surprises me, though is he's. Based on what I've read. that he wants to go right back to the toy department I'd say my. My reaction would be toy department. Never going back there again I want to be one of regular reporters. Give me a break. I I'm not going back to that nonsense now. There are people last night hoping that there was severe weather and he would break into cover that. The sleeves you gotTA. Roll your sleeves up your sleeves. Yeah, for sure well. Let's talk about this just for a moment for our listeners who haven't seen it Max are sports director a WC, l. just very unassuming. matter-of-fact he kind of goes from here to there asks the questions and whatever balls and strikes. He goes out to cover these riots. And it's unbelievable. He is everywhere bombs going off all around him here. Gas Flying someone said on twitter with all the fires and the screaming, and then he wakes at somebody off camera. The guy on flammable and has been just unbelievable Rosen. Rosen never did that rose, never did it rose? All the. You know we when we have the floods. Made Disasters. Where was Mark Roe? I'm just GONNA. Ask you that. Well I did talk about this I've talked with this with several other reporters who've had to work in difficult conditions as in covering often lifetime that might be a demonstration might be a it might be a flawed all kinds of things, but where there is. The I guess challenge of. Figuring out what? Danger might be lurking and it might be a you know a somebody with a weapon. It might be just some drunken idiot who happens to have stumbled upon the spot from which? You are broadcasting. It is a I. Admire greatly the folks who can pull that off and still seem somewhat natural, still tried to survey a scene, but who sort of has to sense. Trouble if you know what I mean, you gotta be able to know. I'm done I gotta go right now, and I gotta find another spot because I. Just don't like the looks of via the situation or this individual whatever the case may be, it's quite an art. It is another decisive things, a little more difficulty also because there is a camera and you have A. Photo journalist and you are. You're tied to that camera. You've got something in your you and you're listening a radio in your ear near piece that you're listening back to the station while they're directing you here and there look.

"Was there something specific? Maybe an anything that you gathered from. Mayo walk or any of these guys that you think like well that would be somebody who fits within the raider culture. Was there somebody like that? That stood out to you interesting on everybody everywhere. Receiver probably probably works. I think what's interesting about this? Part of the year is a teams aren't trying to tip their hand most of the time but at the same time. I think Mike Max kind of candor is a little bit refreshing in just in the sense that he's being very honest and saying. Hey we need a wide receiver like everybody knows every position on defense. Yes yes gonNa say to you know. He's very honest in that every position on Defense. He said we can upgrade. And that's including the spots on the outside at defensive end where you've got to promising young players in in Clean Farrell Amax crosby and we can argue about which one seems more promising after the rookie year. But I think from that standpoint you look at linebacker and obviously the linebacking corps is a bit of a mess and they need in the secondary. You did say Jonathan. Abram has a chance to be a premier player in this league. But he also said he's got to be healthy in that all indications are that Abram is about there and he's about to be cleared and we'll be able to participate not as and everything but I thought it was interesting that he said Abrahams gotTa keep his head on straight. You know after he's done you know being on and all the business ventures and everything. He's got to be completely focused. So I like Mike mayock candor and and you know how it refreshing because a lot of times that well. Let's go ahead and here a little bit from Mike. Mayock somewhere where he had to say today. Especially about the offense as we talk about talked about in the beginning here and Derek Carr. I think everybody needs to understand. At what level Derek Carr played last year okay? The Guy completed seventy percent of his passes. He had almost a three to one touchdown interception ratio. I think we're number eleven in the league in total yards. We're seventh and third down conversions. We did a lot of really good things on offense last year. The disconnect was. We didn't score a lot of points. Your eleven in yards and twenty four points. There's an issue.

"Got to watch it today on CBS sports network I want to CBS sports network right now because the watcher Moses. what you know how state football watch in the zip. eight five five two one two four CDS. I started off the show today because I I I trust me folks I had great takes I swear to you I had great stuff on Lincoln Riley and Jerry Jones and all this other and then eat in Tony brown is he tends to do like you took over took the raiders hostage you took the show hostage so what did you say I'll start this offer them a turn it over to you your world will take your calls will take your thoughts because I wanna know if if if you have a favorite team or you think you'd be a good fit for team the violin here but I don't think he wants to play. he already had an organization that was willing to bend over backwards willing to a bearish the general manager of publicly. really Ernie Accorsi Baltimore colts stuff. it all Ernie Accorsi push back with all John Elway thing. they were willing to throw Mike mac under the bus they were willing to publicly castrate Mike mac let's call it what it is with Jon Gruden is saying that he's not gonna be fine we're ready for him on on Monday Jon Gruden says I'm the guy who's in charge of this thing Mike Max there to either be might Hey pop it be be the guy who does my forty second press conferences or see just look at the draft and stay away from me that's what Jon Gruden minute earlier this week or even should say yesterday because this this story's moves so fast. so the raiders were publicly willing to admit that Mike Mayock has no power. for you. they were willing to waive fines for you they just wanna one little thing because then John good with baggy for a little bit bad about Mike mac and goes you know you did custom out really everybody maybe just a little bit of a fight and that was an absolute now he made a big deal about your helmet he made a big deal about your feet for for whatever reason a professional athlete who does this every single day your job is to take care of your body you didn't put socks on when you went to the cryotherapy. I spike thought this in August I think this now he done one play. I think he's fighting. time fighting the door being closed when he's talking to Adam Schefter back in March I don't need the game the game needs me I don't I don't that I quoted what I love the game I don't need the gate. that's a dangerous thing. he got a one of A. in need. as the need part of it is not just about the dollars which is amazing he said it wasn't about the money said he was taken care of but he's not gonna play with you're not gonna give the guarantees we makes the statements. and he says he's more than that more than a football player he does this back in March and that he does it again last night when this video comes out of his you tube channel it it's Jon Gruden begging him to play. Jon Gruden didn't say pretty please he might as well as said pretty please with cherries on top the whole thing might as well as been on his knees like Jim Carrey of liar liar thank you. him to play. it tells you everything you don't take the raiders this year. this thing became a clown show about two weeks in. and now the raiders did what they the the very last thing they could have done they could to suspend him and let him rot maybe they could have done that been very petty about it but they they released Antonio brown. in the end the other thought with Antonio brown would be. where do you go from here. because I don't think you really wanna play. if you really do want to play we're gonna go because you said you'd rather retire than go to buffalo which is a terrible shot a buffalo it's a good football team it's it's a getting better football team I hope good things for Josh on even though a lot of the fans got upset with me because they want to use a six round pick up some sort of a victory lap over the patriots earlier last week find even a lot of the fans are meant to be a a good fan base maybe we don't need that crap in their lives. eat your turn that down. either look like you'll turn down anywhere when you leave the raiders who did everything they could for you so you won't play for a bad organization that will do anything they can for a thirty one year old wide receiver he again one of the best early I get it but still you're thirty one year old wide receiver there's going to be diminishing return at some point. so they did everything they could for you don't wanna be part of them you won't go to buffalo because probably don't like cold weather and you did want play the Buffalo Bills. you think a competitive football teams will pick up this year. I believe that you're gonna be a part of their fabric of of what it takes to win. immediately patriots patriots patriots patriots patriots patriots patriots everybody saying the patrons the patriots have a strong reputation for picking up talented. malcontents on bad organizations. don't think raiders in this scenario think Steelers Xena played them down for the raiders he played for the Steelers until the very end he forced his way off one of the best organizations of professional sports I know you might not like Mike Tomlin you might not be cool with Ben Roethlisberger it's one of the best organizations a professional sports he forced his way out of there don't think raiders think them. new England's got malcontents but talented ones from bad organizations do they really want a guy forced himself off of one of their main competitors for an a FC check if the championship I don't think so. do you believe that he's going to be the guy the falls in line with the patriot way. how color can what about it do what about it with Aaron Hernandez what about rob Gronkowski Robert Couse you when it came to his personal freedom did go and see Tom Brady's person Tom Brady has his own guy Tom Bradys Tom Brady the rest will mark Tom Brady. they fall in line with what the patriots do there's nothing that tells me he would fall in line with anything the patriot way I don't think bill Belichick would even think what I ought to really believing that he could make a difference for the football team. eighty good football team out there. would you really want that when he doesn't seem to want to play when they were more than willing to just yesterday to waive everything they were saying he's going to play on Monday night against Denver they were operating according to die in a receipt earlier today as if he's going to be with them against the Denver Broncos on Monday up until the time they released him. so you don't want to be with a bad organization that's willing to bend over backwards for you. you don't want to be with a good organization because they put too much pressure on you will let you be yourself there's really no other way to go. I thought the best organization for would be Miami Miami's not trying to win games they would like people still go to the stadium if he really does want to play with you doesn't if you did want a player just go out there on Sundays and make plays then I guess the dolphins would be a great home for. nothing is expected and they got money. but I don't know if you want to do that to a rookie head coach. there's so many tentacles to it there's just not enough time I'm sure if you I will talk about it at two eastern I'm sure all the talk about it tonight at six I think with is Jodi Mack on at six. Johnny mac at six. we'll talk about it all eight five five two one two four CBS let's go to the phones I just gonna pull out my phone here and take a Gander who's on there let's get the neck in Madison if you still there met Nikki there. okay let's get to Peter and Madison were big in Wisconsin Peter your next up on CBS sports radio go ahead. I agree with you a hundred percent he can't go to a good humor good team all wanna but Detroit Lions are not good team and I think you could fit in there at the client might want to take a chance on him they would have nothing to lose. who. are you lines fan item that but I'm not a Packer fan but the house in Detroit a few weeks ago for work aperture shades a patriot help I'll check the site he's seen it work for you bring in some character concern guys with the patriots that's worked out. thank god I mean that that it's a depressing city right now for sports anchors are going no where the pistons are going no where the red wings are a little bit down it's no one's excited about the lions. there behind the Packers and Vikings the bears the pecking order in the NFC north let me meet you halfway let me meet you halfway I don't think you could work but I think he could end up there in that case. I because you just mentioned map Patricia and a lot of bill bill Belichick's assistance try to do a big version of their own bill Bella check because I I just said I they take good players from bad organizations they don't take good players from good organizations and elicit the less those good organizations feel that they're just that old again do it but they that's the way they do it Antonio brown forced himself off the Steelers which are a good organization but because you said that a lot of those assistance try to emulate him so I might meet you halfway I I think that maybe they could try to pick him up I just don't think would work well actually work in wins for them. I don't think would work either I just don't see at the amount that the lines at that organizations just. yeah just in such a right as they got to lose why not if you can come and bring some excitement sell some tickets the next Megatron you know just. do something like that alright Peter that Peter thank you for the call of your lines for that had to be about the most depressing color red Peters not alliance but that will be the most depressing call ever Matt Stafford good quarterback he's a veteran do you really want to do do you want to do that with Antonio brown if your Max after. "Didn't show up for a walk through in Canada I mean what else were you doing. but you couldn't show up for the walk through Canada that's about fifty four thousand dollars in fines if you've racked up all of which at the end of that note may OFC talked about the collective bargaining agreement it was clearly written by all a front office member without a legal background conduct detrimental to the team all of those things together can be put together by the raiders to make a case to prove that this is conduct detrimental to the team Voss we don't know your down you of you your behavior is forty these guarantees scea. wouldn't want to be here get out. the question is how much are they willing to overlook. to try and put Humpty Dumpty back together again for the raiders and Antonio brown and may I can Gruden and be able to set standards in that locker room that they feel is arm. something that would create the atmosphere of winning in respect. Mike silver was been covering this thing he was the first one to remember Mike was the first one from the NFL network NFL media group he was the first one report about Antonio brown threatening to retire over his helmet remember that one. yeah calls this he calls this I cannot see this at this point being salvageable. that's what he said. I think it's a pretty good bet that if this degenerates like the way I think it will they mean the raiders will absolutely try to get every dollar back that they can from Antonio brown wow first game for them Monday night against the Denver Broncos. Mike Max speaking soon to the media on and it's on the old boy. I mean talk about drama all I know is the ninety minute long free cake show that I'm doing it six o'clock eastern that run down is exploding as we speak yeah you're a bleak a and. you know we probably will these features set up to talk about Packers and bears and for good reason I mean it's one of the greatest rivalries ever that's one of our first guest was Farner second was earlier. I want to go to the phone lines right now Shane in no shame in boulder Colorado has been hanging on for awhile what's up Xing recorder itself rather. Hey I just gotta say man the disrespect on the bears brother you know you could could quarterback in the NFL nowadays as a rookie and you look a little bit he looked on fox trash talk with Jeff Jeff Fisher trash new look at Josh Rosen with Steven woke last year trash or. no you thirteen year with my leg better than the first year granted. but he's grown more. I think going into its third year you can make a lot better deep grows lot better decisions that have a lot better you're gonna go for four thousand yards. that's a large number Shayna free sheet the call thank you I just want to see it that's all I'm I'm more concerned about the defense believe it or not everybody's pickin the bears defense first in your fantasy leagues that the guy who coordinated them to that to that height is gone that's why I'm taking the Broncos in my fantasy leagues. we I'm Khalil Mack is maybe the defensive player of the year let's see it Chuck McDonald had some great years being the DC and Baltimore yes great Lewis about Chuck Becontree loves of we'll say it's just tough to sustain it. I think the I can't wait to see what the Packers offense looks like tonight Nathan in Los Angeles get you get you here on the program much of anything. Hey rich good to talk to you again you got I'm gonna be firmly end up planting my flag on the don't get off my lawn crowd right here. but everything I'm seeing. Antonio brown to me reflects the very worst of the millennial mentality. do I think. all millennials behave anywhere near. we are turning around us no. but is this the only person of that generation. that we've seen behave this way I don't think any of us can say we don't know any I know now I I hear you and and and then again thanks to call I I don't know about the millennial aspect to this because it's the still the same guy who. roof himself. and and pulled himself up and put himself on a pedestal. same human being. same person let's put it that way. and I don't know what's going on with him. Dan hands are said it best I think last hour he just doesn't thank you Tony brown is properly hard wired to play professional football that's what he said. because you can't receive a letter from your boss. more from of management figure let's put it that way you can't receive a letter from your management from a management figure pointing out that you have. not shown up for many get training camp session and a walk through Brian locker said an hour to that if you did that under Lovie Smith didn't matter who you were you would be fine and find hard for it and it wasn't depending on how good you were as a player prior Lacker said that he's a first ballot hall of Famer as Antonio brown currently is on pace to be. so he's looking at this as a slap in the face to him. where has he can't for a split second realize why that would be considered a slap in the face to the general manager in the coach and the sense of teamwork. that's why he's not hard wired to play professional football it's pro football your professional you show up for work when you're supposed to. a training camp session on a walk through is showing up for work when you're supposed to. so how do you view. a rebuke from management in letter form that Dawson also mean it's actually good be carried through how do you view that is such a an affront that you let the whole world know about it and then you threaten to hit the individual who sent you that letter in front of other coworkers like what the name me another work place where that flies. so. that's the issue here with a tone I think it's a millennial thing something is happened with him. that the basics of being a professional. suddenly is escaping him or he feels he is above it. at least that's the way he is acting. chat in Cincinnati let's take your phone call here on the rich Eisen show what's up Chad. Hey rich I got a theory about this interview brown thank you made a great point he was fine you know he was doing everything you should be doing but ever since that hit from behind his perfect check the time lines for his actions after that I feel like that he might have something to do with it right Hey Chad you're not the first person is a lot of whispers going around the league that there could be something going on with with Antonio brown that's based on the concussion he suffered in that huge hit and how his personality is changed and how is it different person and I I don't want to go down that road space sure but you brought it up and I ate so a lot of whispers you're saying stuff that a lot of folks in the leader talking about as were grasping for us a reason why. Antonio brown's behavior that gets on occasion very bizarre into go from eccentric too bizarre to now self destructive we're all trying to find an answer here Chad. yeah yeah but it's it's bizarre the other thing I want to ask you which is in you might get to this soon who's going to be your most improved team in the AFC and NFC okay the NFC I'm still going to look at the forty Niners they've they've got they've got a lot of room to go up and I don't think Arizona's gonna win a ton of games more than last year I think you've got a quarterback in a defense in the coaching staff and some weaponry that if you put it all together they can do that so that's my choice in the NFC and in the AFC I'll go with the jets you know I'll go with the jet team that that that won four games last year and definitely has the ability to double that and I appreciate the call jazz it's interesting phone quality made right there. she earned almost with all with Antonio brown and we're all grasping for for a a reason why we know us I'm gonna play areas like you said this he's on his way to the hall of fame if he keeps up maybe a couple more seasons of his production yes fifteen touchdowns last year it's just weird we don't want to see it because we want to see the great players ball out and be great right and this behavior that he's been displaying for the last few months it's taking away from that it came in the in the world of of profession. professions. working being paid for a job J. O. B. there are people who run their own business yeah. NFL players are not one. okay we are not one of them if we are told by something from management rebuked because we have created a situation that for them. is so. a difficult to overlook they have to point it out in black and white in a letter not only to stop that behavior but also to point out to the rest of the staff it's not being accepted. okay. that you would react to that by bristling so much that you're gonna posted to the world millions will now see it and you're not going to make a statement to your management that it's something that you view as evil use the word evil in his in his in his Instagram story post. and then to expect no rapper cautions from it. and that when it does arrive in the form of Mike may I ask who I can guarantee you. doesn't want to hit him. but I would want to get in a fight with that guy. and certainly not. of a fight over what's right and wrong. when his his his first. and maybe it would be his only shot at being a GM he's going to stand for this stuff. and. how you could sit there and think that this is all normal behavior on his part that he could then threatened to hit him point of football in front of him. and not think that it could be. they could come for his money and if the writers conference money and he's released sure you plan out of the team he is not getting thirty million guarantee dollars from another soul he might get a million this this year at most so it's now time for maybe I don't know who it is. maybe it's true Rosenhaus. to sit him down and say Antonio. this is the reality we got you through the home and this is why you don't you don't acquiesce to the home and stuff. you don't enable the helmet stuff you don't like they were back at him for the helmet's stuff because he'll take that inch and now make a yard. it's now time for somebody who loves this guy to sit him down and say yes the finding. you may seem you may think that it's something that's done personal to you it is not it is the business of the NFL we're all fifty three have to be treated the same otherwise there is no winning this is the way professional football operates you may think you don't need to be at a walk through you may think you don't need to be at this..

"Gotta be kidding you. Maybe the only person in Arizona feels that way, the only right person then. Of course, Jon watch a game of thrones. Is that a big deal to you? Did you I've never seen a single episode man? I've got no time for that. No time for that stuff. You know what I don't wanna get too much into this, because, you know, you haven't watched it I haven't watched it MAC hasn't watched it. But I gotta tell you when the two biggest stories that come in of game of thrones is that a Starbucks Cup was seen in one of the shooting shooting, and then the plastic water bottle from last night. It couldn't have been that good. There was a plastic water. They had another miscue on the set somebody it was behind his foot on one of the scenes. They were all sitting in chairs and it was behind his foot. It gets hot. It gets hot wherever they are in that winter wonderland game. Sure. So this is pre plastic right? I guess, I guess so. But I mean those are the two things that, that at least for someone who has never watched it. That's the two things that I heard about it and at the series finale stunk, but a bunch of people like demanding online, they re shoot the ending 'cause they were so upset about it yet. Yeah. Yes, this is the world. We're living in now, people want, you know, everybody to stop what they're doing. It's not enough that you just have a bad movie or a bad TV show. Oh, now, they're demanding, we want you to reshoot it. Remake invest not good seed. Mike max right there so invested in it. And they love what they see. And they've become part of you know, they've invested time in what eight seasons. Yes, yeah. Maybe they will redo it. Maybe they made it so bad. They should that they should money. Pretty good to make more MAC. You saw it, you know, it was bad. He doesn't know we just read all the reviews and I'm saying spiracy theory, wise, you make it bad, so you can redo it. But that's just me. I'm jaded. A little bit. John hook FOX ten joining a John listen to this study. Well, digger dick through the news the a little bit here. The metoo movement is a new study that says sixty percent of male managers feel uncomfortable having an interaction with women at the workplace the metoo movement. This wasn't supposed to happen. Our men overreacting in your opinion, John. Nope. No, they're worried. They're worried. I've seen it. I think it's I think it's absolutely dead on, I think men and I, I know guys who talk about, you know, they are really uncomfortable. If they've got to go on a road trip of business road trip, and there's women on the road trip. Part of the office, part of the staff say, it's an accounting group or whatever it might be rega- every day in television, you've got maybe a male cameraman with a female reporter going out on a story or maybe going up to flagstaff or something a couple of days. I mean, I, I would assume it's on everybody's mind. I think it is. I think it definitely is. And the question is, whether this will affect office relationships to the point that it may actually hurt women. I mean, if you do still have probably majority of male bosses in this country and they've got to deal with the male Boston in the mailbox has got to deal with them, and they need to talk about promotion and upward movement. Does this stuff actually end up in fringing, or restricting their movement upward in a company because everybody's so freaked out and afraid that it might actually do do the opposite? The short answer to that question is, yes. I've talked to a couple of people now that I'm not going to say what companies are what organizations but they are moving away from hiring young women. They are moving away from internships period. Not just because of women but because of the guys as well. They say you know what we just do not want to put ourselves out there to get bitten by one person or a couple of people that quite frankly, we don't need not the headache, but we don't need. What's the word? I'm looking for the liability, we don't we don't want the liability take on the liability. So, yeah, they were purposely not not hiring qualified. That's terrible. The metoo movement is actually doing a disservice to women. Well, I've heard women women here at FOX ten expressing that they think it's gone too far, which is really interesting. They're like, you know, they understand the Genesis of it, but they're like, you know, we're getting to a point where everybody's so distrustful of one another. I it can really harm relationships in the office. John hook is joining us from FOX ten we're talking about the metoo movement, and male managers are, are uncomfortable mentoring. Women john. Here's, here's what I would say, at least about me. You know. Amac, we've been doing this show. Almost eleven years, I would say really right at the start of when we started doing the show. I keep the door open if there is a female in my office smart. Yeah. I was way before me to this is way, too, right? I'm very careful. Speaking to women in the office, especially those who are younger than me, even though they're my colleagues, and I treat them with respect. I treat them also like I would my daughter and I, I don't know if that's wrong, John, but I'm just very aware and very careful I try and be extremely fair, but I also don't want to be seen as the forty five year old guy who goes and talks to a younger woman, and they look and say, well, what's Gaydos, doing well they know what I'm doing over there. It's like you know, kind of talking to, you know, our daughter's twenty two years old, and we have some twentysomethings around here that's how I speak to them like I would my own daughter. I think it's. Good rule. But at the end of the day, I don't know. Maybe they think. Yeah. Gaydos is talking to me like a kid and. Kind of standoffish a little bit, exactly. Yeah. I think I think everybody's walking on a shells. There was a reason that this movement started there certainly have been enough incidence. We know it's real right? There's a real reason for it. But like anything else you can always get kind of a reaction that may be an overreaction and may actually harm the very thing. You're trying to solve. It's just unfortunate that you can't. And Kerry Kerry, my, my cohort at night carrying I really close. And, and she tells me a lot. She says, you know, it all depends on where the comment or the remark is coming from if you know, the person's hard and you know that they're just fooling around. You don't take offense to it. If it's somebody, you know, but you've gotta that's you're walking in a minefield. I mean, people can still make jokes and even make sexual jokes. But if it's in the proper context, and the people around you understand what it's about, it's still. Okay, if everybody's on the same page but you don't know that anymore. So that's why a lot of these companies and a lot of these especially men are pulling back saying, I'm not taking. I'm not taking the chance where with John hook from FOX ten Yankers the four five and nine o'clock. Newscasts speaking of metoo. There are debates now in schools, all across the country of not only teach sex, Ed. But do you teach consent? Is that a good idea to teach consent to kids with the sex education? Okay. I gotta tell you, I am going to be off. I'm gonna be away from probably the majority of people on this whole thing. I don't think that this is something to schools should be burdened with I really don't consent or sex, Ed or both. I just, you know, I understand it the, the ideas that kids aren't getting at home, but it's a shame that schools have had to embark on teaching all of this stuff that was not really intended for what they're doing which is to educate kids about how to think how to learn they really, they really shouldn't have to be surrogate, parents and become one and it's an unfair burden on teachers to ask them to be surrogate, parents, eight hours a day. I just think we have loaded teachers up, we've we're basically saying, you know, the parents are aren't doing the job, so we're going to we're going to ask the schools to do it, and I just think that's too much. But what if the teacher leader John, that no one teaches these kids? Parents man to the parents to teach this stuff, not the schools. Let me let me talk to you just just from my perspective. John, I've been apparent for two years now with a nine year old, she doesn't listen to us, but you'll listen to a teacher. Well, that's a great point for straight point. She respects her teacher. Well, she can say it all day long. If we say something that is true, and she's not in the right frame of mind. You know this ratio kids. Doesn't know what he's talking about that. No, dad. That's not the way it is. But if she likes her teacher and thinks the teachers pretty which we're trying to break that habit to man or woman. Then then that teacher can actually teach you something. Have we, I'm probably in the minority on this, but I just feel like we have asked teachers to do progressively, more and more of our work. It's true. And I just I don't like it. I don't think it's fair to teachers I don't think it's the right vehicle to get to these kids. But what you say is, it's a very valid point. I think with coaches, you know you could try to teach your kid, you know. John John mother agent. Some other guy's using goggles swimming.

"There's Coughlin's take you heard. Ramsey's take Dan Orlovsky on get up among Tom Coughlin side. And I'm a little bit of an old school guy. I get that. But I always believed that we should be together. I understand the difference between voluntary mandatory the reality is. That's just there for money. You can't find me if I'm not there. But we always love the teams that I was part of this didn't necessarily equate to wins and losses, but it meant something being together, it meant something in April may and June being together because you know, what else isn't mandatory is wins team, camaraderie that is a voluntary thing. So the great thing about it is when you're stars when your stars are your your temple centers when they're around all the time. That's how you organization really gets better. Because this is a team right now. That's lacking leadership. It's got some off the field troubles with one of their stars. It's lose lost their franchise quarterback. Now, this will be area. Nick foles helps. But and everyone always points. Like Tom Brady does go will Tom Brady doesn't go because he can't get this acuity carrying six rings through the metal detector guys. Like, there's a difference. And so I believe that you're young stars. Should always be around dictating setting the temple for your organization. How about this one a head of Mike max, I draft his GM of the raiders he and coach Jon Gruden are being extra cautious regarding their circle of trust the NFL network reporting that they sent their scouts home for the weekend. And do not expect them to return by draft time grooten in Mayock don't know who to trust among the scouts and wanted to clear the room, many of those scouts will not be with the organization beyond this draft around the horn reacts..

"Do they have the fortitude and the ability to pull off the shock of all shockers? You know, I think they're gonna approach this the same way that they approach Antonio that. Hey, this is what we got. This is who we got this is where we're going to do if you're into that cool sign up if not there's only so much that there's only so much that we can do. So I was told earlier at say the late morning hours that they're still in the hunt. I they obviously can't compete financially. If if the New York Jets one up write a blank check that that's just not an option. So, but they're in it, and that would definitely make them instantly more credible for a guy as we've all seen exactly what he could do. Now, we could argue probably for several segments about whether that's the right move when you stack up the offensive line, and you got marshawn Lynch going back at Jalen was short, and you can piece together four and a half yards per carry with a lot of skill sets. Where bell could do it all? So they've got options there whether this works out or not. I think ultimately if you have a chance to get a transcendent talent, you do it. Right. You just do it within the parameters that you've set up don't reach. But if he wants to come back here, maybe that that that other worldly market isn't setting up. Exactly like he'd hope maybe he'll come back. Maybe Antonio Brown or Derek Carr can Whoo. Or tug on the heartstrings say, hey, man. You wanna go host a party at towel and Alice. It'll be something I ate for fifty grand Amman, man. But you know, what I'm saying? So I yeah, I I can't argue against it. They're in it. I, you know, it's tough to say about what Levy on wants to do his campus has been pretty quiet. I think ultimately he's trying to work the best deal for his guy. That's his job. Especially after sitting out whole sacrificing fourteen million. It's up to the age and the player to show. Hey, this move that we made last year was worth it in the long run here. We bet on yourselves and it paid off. I think this is definitely a situation of follow the money real quick, Scott. The raiders be just Ober extra crazy aggressive and get color Murray. That would take a lot, but they got draft picks. Yeah. Absolutely. And I think if you look at it it's again Jon Gruden right wildcard. He didn't do anything. So I never have an absolute answer anymore. My thought is with with what they're doing. And the fact that honestly major drawing and selling point for Antonio Brown was coming your place. I like Derek Carr who can make every single throw. But may not be created in the create a player version of bad thing. Like Pablo homes, and Kyle very are. I think with all these offensive weapons that they're getting tackled wide receiver possibly at running back that you've got to look at it and Jon Gruden has to look at his good good buddy coordinator, Paul gone through and say, okay. You rather through all the offensive fireworks in March April. It's time for me to go get you your guys and at number four, and that would be quitting Williams who I who they like a lot right on top of their board. And that's where you go defense. And if they stay disciplined, and maybe Mike max keeping everybody on message down there. That's what they do. But again, this is good, man. This is the raiders you can never say never IT are. It's the raiders. I would think Josh Allen. Cat out of Kentucky. You IT? Are. We all know IT are I would say Josh Allens on their radar to if they're they're really thinking about. Scott man, thanks for the time. I do appreciate it. And we'll talk to you down the road. You know, always Scott bear NBC sports bay area raider insider once again, thank you for your time. "So it'll be interesting to see if he actually listens to some people in the building that may know a little bit well at his track record indicates these listen, anybody the reason Mike Mayock is in the building is because he doesn't have to listen to him. He hand picked Mike MAC who had no experiment. I know Mike max been around the NFL has been doing draft stuff, and he's got a resume, but he doesn't have a resume as NFL general manager. This is all new for him. So you've got two guys that are doing that. You've got two guys that are either trading picks or moving up or moving down. You got two guys that are going to select players and one guy has never done it. And the other guy has a track record of doing poorly. But it's not success. It's really not that difficult to select a player if he can play or not Jon Gruden. It has been. Yeah. Because they go into that. First of all, they don't know how evaluate talent. Secondly, they start looking at all the unnecessary things about a player. Okay. Can they do play Kenny play? That's the bottom line. Kenny, really play football. Does he have what it takes his his guts, there is heart? There is he gonna run through a wall. Is he smart is he's sharp. You know, then you get into the forty. Yeah. You get into the vertical jump then you get into the weight and height all sorts of BA first off what does he look like on field? But key if it's that simple. Why does Jon Gruden MRs often as he does because they just they don't evaluate the talent. They don't wanna value. And so you can have all the draft picks in the world. You can have three picks you can move up move back. But if the guy the end of the day that saying that dude doesn't know what he's doing. It doesn't make any difference. And that's why you can't have a do like that running your team, and you expect to be good in the short time. You just can't have it. But the raiders elected to go, John grooten and. And maybe this year's draft will be different because certainly lashes draft he picked coat Miller the left tackle from UCLA who nobody else had in the first round. Who is not a first round talent. According to most people who follow in. No, these things this is what I'm saying. You got three first. So he's gonna take three more guys that don't belong in the first round. That's a trade out or trade out and get some picks it pick the right? You know? I don't really know. I'm just going back to Tampa days we selected marquees Walker from receiver from Michigan lasted about two years. They Salah remember when I left a supposed to be you Clayton. Well, every do Dorte told and big always opposed to be that you don't you don't keep you marquee shower together last long enough to get dirty. That would be true, then we take Michael Clayton from LSU at the receiver spot. I'm trying to he passed on a lot of good players. Good luck..
