"My first sub 9 news. He joins us on the Johnson auto Plaza hotline. Mike good morning. Good morning, guys. My cow the how does the search for coaches go to fill this staff and most importantly, Rex Ryan, what do you know about Rex Ryan and how serious is he as a candidate? I've been told and I haven't been told this by Sean Payton who's really the guy running the search, but I've been told for now that Rex Ryan would be a bit of a launch shot. And Sean Payton interviewed 6 candidates for the defensive coordinator position. So he is, he is just one of 6. And he's got to fill he's got to fill three coordinator positions, special teams, offense and defensive coordinator. There's so many quality minority candidates at defensive coordinator that Sean Payton was interviewing. I just would be surprised if Rex Ryan, after not being in the game for 6 years would get the job. I know it would be interesting and entertaining and a lot of fun, maybe it'll still happen, but I guess I wouldn't count on it. Can you recap for us 'cause we've heard racks and we're shonda sy, who are the other, who are the other defensive coordinator candidates that Payton's talk to. Yeah, some guys I've heard of were Christopher chard, who is just let go by the saints and Sean Payton brought him in to the saint staff a few years a couple of years ago. Christian Parker, the Bronco zone, defensive backs coach, I believe he may have interviewed for the job. And one name that this is just speculation, but they have a they have a relationship, Sean Payton and Mike Zimmer, down the road there in boulder, he's got some kind of position with on prime times staff, but Zimmer and Sean Payton were together with Parcells in Dallas. So I think all this is good as I'm not saying that he was a candidate. I'm just saying that that would kind of fit if he was. I think all this will shake out later this week. I think we'll know quite a bit of Sean Payton's coaching staff by Friday of this week. So slow to hire fast fire is what he told us that on radio row last Friday. So tell me about the offensive coordinator. What about on the offensive side of the ball? Yeah, I don't know too much about that one. Sean Payton's the offensive coordinator, of course. And after watching that Super Bowl on Sunday, Sean Payton has to be the Broncos. I mean, clearly he was the right choice in someone the Broncos had to hire, I mean, the creativity that Andy Reid and the eagles both showed in that offense. I mean, I just have not seen that type of play calling play scheme play design by the Broncos, like ever. You know, I thought the kubiak bootleg was pretty to watch. But nothing like what the misdirection that Andy reads to it. They need a guy who can schema plays like Sean Payton if they're going to keep up. Have any chance to knock off the chiefs once in a while. In the AFC west. The only one I ever hear for offensive coordinators, Joe Lombardi, that's not confirmed. They just Joe Lombardi was fired as the Chargers offensive coordinator. After this season, he has been with Sean Payton for a few years. And that's the name that keeps popping up in the industry. Mike, it was funny last week with Sean Payton doing all his TV stuff. We heard from a fair amount of Bronco fans were like, great, our quarterback was somebody who craved the spotlight. Now our head coach is the same kind of guy. Are you confident that Sean Payne the TV guy is different from Sean Payton the guy who will be running the Broncos? think they look kind of the same. You know, I don't know Sean Payton that well I've been around them twice now to introductory press conference and had a sit down interview with them right after that press conference got to talk to him a little bit there. We're from the same area and the Chicagoland area. And then I followed him around radio row on Friday when he was going from place to place. He's I mean, he is a he's a good storyteller. He's outgoing. He's, you know, he's not a wallflower. He's got a big personality. I think, you know, the way he is as a coach and is what made him interesting and entertainer as a TV analyst. So, but what do you mean by that? Meaning with Ross, we were kind of like, come on, dude. Read the room type stuff. And with Peyton, is there a concern of that? Last week, he's out there and he's, he's recruiting Gronkowski and he's talking about hashtag buckham. Those kind of things that got us rolling our eyes with Russ and we don't want to be necessarily doing the same thing with Peyton. Yeah, I understand that. And yeah, I'd rather not have the whole Gronkowski Brady Rex Ryan type stuff out there. It's going to be it's going to be a trip. I guess I'm going to reserve judgment, though. That until we get a little more time around the new hope new head coach before figuring out what we got there as far as coverage goes. All right, last one. You just tweet out this morning, Zach azani is on the is on the interview. Circuit, meaning with the jets, the Broncos wide receiver coach. Yeah, I mean, these guys have been in limbo for since the day after Christmas. And because John Peyton is being deliberate and putting his staff together, a guy like azani, Sean Payton told zany, you know, I'm going to consider you, you know? I'm going to look at you. I got to put my staff together to figure out who the offense of coordinator is first. Let's see if there's a fit will allow you're doing that. You got to get some other lines in the water. And so Zach azani is going to find out is going to have a job next year. The question is where his preference is to stay here. But the way it works in the NFL when the head coach leaves and you're an assistant coach, you better have some other things. I think it'll be very few people that stay after from Nathaniel Hackett's one or two. But very few. All right, Mike, we appreciate you, buddy. Go get them, guys. Mike klis, fresh off a week down on radio row of 9 news. Join us on the Johnson auto Plaza hotline. Up next, what's trending? And one of mark's TV teammates appears to be getting screwed. Yes. And could it trickle down to my man here? That's next. I'm here at the Evans with what's trending. Right now. So we didn't get a chance to get to this yesterday, but this was awesome. Audio and video. So right after the eagles lost the Super Bowl, they had their local. I think it was an NBC affiliate. Was doing a recap from the Super Bowl. Yeah. And so they had their setup and they had their anchor and they had their former players, while the anchor just went off. When it came to the officiating end of basically

"And stinkin might take a look at the four biggest stories in Denver sports. Here's Lara then Evans kicking it off with first time. Nathaniel Hackett reacting to Russell Wilson's performance on Sunday that included a lot more running and scrambling. One of the plays, I don't know if y'all remember, but it was a third and one, and we were moving down the field. That was actually his play call. One of the best play calls the night, and he actually called his own number on that one and he broke it for. I think about 11 yards to convert. Aside, so he wants to run. And he wants the ball in his hands to be able to throw it or be able to run it. And I think that's just, I give so much credit to that guy. I mean, he was a dog last night. So here's the double edged sword though about it. You want him to run. He's at his best when he runs, making plays on the run, making plays in space. But he's also in the concussion protocol because of it. So what do you do? What do you do when you have a running quarterback? We just saw in Arizona. We'll get to that in a second. You know, it's nice to have a quarterback that can get out and move and make plays with his legs, but there is a lot of inherent stuff that comes with it. Well, let's just say that over the course of time, he hasn't gotten him a lot. He hasn't gotten himself in a lot of trouble running the ball. He's always been really good at getting down, he's always been very good at avoiding contact. Now that was a unique situation because he was trying to get that first down in a game situation. Here's the thing that if you talk to coaches around the league that are grooming quarterbacks to run the football, the Justin Fields of the world the, the Jalen hurts of the world that the guys that are coming in the league that you're getting out of college football right now, they can't orchestrate from the pocket. I had a coach tell me, probably two weeks ago, there's 8 quarterbacks in the league that can beat you from the pocket. 8. And I don't believe Russell's one of them. Now, as a matter of fact, I know he's not a problem. No. So it becomes imperative. Now here's the deal. If you're outside, you're doing that stuff and you're scrambled, you'll late because your first read is covered and so you take off like you can survive and you'll probably get hit less doing that than you are being a true drop back passer. It's the guys like Josh Allen who who run and have 8 or 9 design runs and then have a couple of three two three scrambles and they see a linebacker 12 yards away from and they try to run their asses over. That eventually is going to get you going to get you bounced. But outside the numbers and outside of the pocket and do that, you take less big hits doing that than you do standing in the pocket. So I think what happened was unfortunate it was competition and it was trying to win a game. And so you got to tip your cap to rust for that. But he'll just be a far more effective quarterback if he just embraces it and understands what he is as opposed to trying to be Drew Brees, which he is not. He's just not that. Next in four down. Second down. Patrick surtain. Got his first interception of the season and talked about it. I mean, I've been, I don't know. I must have been praying to the almighty God, but you know, at the end of the day, once you're preparation, and you know when you're training comes to work, you know, that's when it shows up in big time moments. So, you know what, I've seen the play, you know, I read it, and I just jumped on the ball. You know, it just goes with film study and preparation. That leads into that, so you know, but I've been waiting for it. I know that the folks at where the pads and wore the pads and coach the game can understand the value of a Patrick Satan when he doesn't show up on the fast sheet. But, you know, for fans and everybody, I think it's good that he's gotta mix in a pic every once in a while, just so you actually see the impact that he can make on a play, not just simply the impact being made when they aren't throwing to him. All right, I think we need that. No. We need that. Every once in a while, I'm not saying he's having ten picks a year. I'm just saying, need a couple. Here and there. Okay, that's fine, D Mack. If that's what you think. Oh, I'm sorry. Hello. Over here. That all of a sudden. I got this up here. Eyes up here. The D Mac took over. And then we got to draft the quarterbacks in the top 5. Every single year until we find the guy easy. They went with the I didn't say that. That wasn't me. All right. Direct your ire towards. I'm just telling you, yeah. The dude is the dude is and here's the other thing. You gave up a couple of big plays and you know, he gave him a couple of touchdowns and now buddy's down on him. He's a really good player and he's asked to do a lot of really tough things. And part of that position in the corner, you're going to give up some place. It's part of what it's part of what makes that position one of the hardest positions in football because you're going to give up a few plays and you just got to get right back on and not let it affect you. Next in four down territory. Third down. Did the Broncos possibility be in the Cardinals on Sunday get easier or tougher? Last night. Now it takes off running the right at the 35 at the 40 and dies to about the 44 yard line again of three and got an injured harden Kyler who went down very awkwardly at times as he tried to cut. Oh no. He cut right then tried to cut left and just buckled. Looks like an ACL injury for Kyler Murray done for the season will not be playing this week when the Broncos play the Cardinals at home, but you are saying that the Cardinals might be actually tougher to beat with colt McCoy than with Kyler Murray. Well, Kyle Murray will extend plays and do crazy things that you can't account for. So they'll be more steady, but their offense to meet functions better. They'll actually run the ball with more efficiency, they'll set up their play action and stuff, colt McCoy can read it, can read a defense can throw it to the right guy. So they become, they become more standard. I think they become more productive that you're going to eliminate a lot of the crazy off schedule stuff that Kyler Murray can do, but I don't believe I don't believe that's wins you football. I think that scores points and it's exciting, but it doesn't win you football games consistently. So I think they're actually a better overall offense when Cole McCoy's playing quarterback. Third long, we need the king. The king is here. Thank you, marquette. Now do it for four down territory up next. We'll have Mike klis join us as we chop up all things Broncos. "It felt like, you know, I don't want this to be open season on Russell Wilson. It is, but it shouldn't be. You know, he's still a Hall of Fame quarterback. Hasn't played well, we know that. And I'm not defending him, and if I'm coming off that way, I don't mean to, as much as I'm just saying, let's discuss this and have perspective on this that is he going to all of a sudden as he forgotten how to play the position. Is this on him? I mentioned they didn't get the plays in early in the season. That's on Nathaniel Hackett. But that throw last night's on Russell Wilson. You can't throw an interception. The last thing you do, throw an interception. And he did. Yeah, Paul. I've always had this kind of theory that when someone's a star quarterback, and people take shots of them when they're down. It goes back to like us in high school and someone's the star quarterback and gets the cheerleader. Sometimes guys like Russell Wilson and Tom Brady feel like their life's star quarterback. Tom Brady has giselle, not just a girlfriend, but one of the most famous women on earth. And money and fame and Russell Wilson is Super Bowl ringing money fame and Sierra. He upgrades too. Yeah. And I think when someone loses it on the field, we use it as the opportunity to take shots at them in other ways. That's just a theory. I don't know if it's in play here. Yeah, I think people waited for the Aaron Rodger cracks in the armor, and then kind of jumped in on that. Even though he was playing it at an MVP level, it still felt like it was open season. Yes, Marv. Yeah, it feels like he's the star quarterback and the straight a student in high school. He's also the valedictorian and he goes to the children's hospital and volunteers at the soup kitchen. That's what it feels like. And he married a beautiful woman. And to that, I say, nice ride. Let's ride into our two toddlers. Here we go.

"You know, I worked in number one and I'm talking about names yesterday. And I took a phone call on this guy says his name was Elvis Presley, and I was like, really? He goes, yeah, and I said, man, I thought you were dead. But anyways, I love you. I think Jesse thought it was going to be funnier than that. That is funny though. No. I just thought there was going to be something else after that. Yeah, I get that all the time. I thought you were dead. Or did Jesse went into that like karate stance at Elvis used to do? When Elvis went, you know, he would be on stage, and he would do the karate thing and I'd go now, no. Your Elvis, you don't need to do that. Yeah, Mora. Is that jumpsuit Elvis? Yeah, I think it was jumpsuit. Sequin Elvis. Bedazzled Elvis. Yeah, bedazzled. He was the bedazzler before they bedazzled close. Unfortunate Elvis. Yes. Yes, bull. Do you want to play how many people in our country are named Elvis Presley game? I'm going to set the over on. Say there's more than you think. You'd be correct. I'm going to say 14. This is from white page dot com. You can find listings. I have at least 70 people in our country named Elvis Presley. Okay. All right. And a couple of our Elvis a Presley, you know what I mean? The Aaron as well. Aaron, thank you very much. But then they misspell his middle name on his grave site. Neither added or removed an a yes. I think it was a RON. And it's that sound right? Yes. A Ron. Yes, yes. I'm not even an Elvis fan, but graceland is one of the coolest places to go. Yeah, I remember when you took the Mercedes sprinter van across country with a French kid. Memphis is awesome. That's a rad city, but man, graceland was so cool. There was something about all of a sudden you're writing Elvis house and there's like places where you can see kids were doing homework and stuff and you're in the kitchen and it's like a total throwback. It's exactly preserved. What an amazing place. Down on the jungle room. Yeah. Things happened in the jungle. The original man cave you could say. Yeah. That was a man cave and a half. Yes, it was, but there were women in the man cave. Lots of TVs. Yeah, we just have men in the man cave. Yeah. Yeah, there's mirrors all over the place. I don't know what that was implying. Down in the jungle room. It's just a fire going. Here we go. Let's get it. All right. Thank you very much. Let's do some damage. Thank you. Thank you very much. Bronco games. Let's ride. Bronco give a terrible, I can't even watch a Matt Ryan. Ever could do a bad Elvis. Yes, that's a great thing. Yeah, yeah. Everybody does Elvis. You guys are just piling it on.

"And they were under center. It looked like they were going to run the ball for the first down. Which of course they could have done and then gone gold to go from before or the three yard line, and they went for it all right there. And of course, Russ the middle and was a Gilmore again that night in a way. You know, he was the wrong guy to go after. I just didn't understand that and Kirk herb street said it in the moment. They went to the line of scrimmage, and it was like, we're going to get the playoff quickly, and then you're going to, you're going to get the first down, and then they call time out. And I thought, yeah, they said they didn't like the look of the India. That's what Hackett said when they went up to the line. They didn't like the look of the cold defense for their running plate that they had called. So and that play that they call one of Russ's favorite place. You know, they work on it in practice. That's Hackett likes to play. Russell Wilson likes to play. I just think in that pressurized moment, you know, Russ didn't go right. You know, hamler came off that pick. But Russ never looked that way. And the result was what it was. I just mentioned, we're talking to Mike cliff, who covers the Broncos for 9 news in Denver. I mentioned that over the last 28 years, 18 coaches have been won and done. And I don't know, the Walton family didn't hire Nathaniel Hackett. You can't fire the quarterback. How much pressure is Nathaniel Hackett facing here right now? You know, I was asked that on radio before the game and I said there's no way. And that, you know, that the Walmart family didn't become Walmart by firing people with four year contracts, you know, half year into year one with four year contracts. And eating, you know, 7 million a year, whatever it is for a coach.

And then frizzy, I'm going to give you ten minutes to come up with your response to that with your own mind. I will work on that. Your Broncos go down in flames last night. Eric Paul, here we go. First one, Russell Olson, Bronco quarterback making me sick. Oh. It's kind of frizzy ass. Okay, all right, okay. What the hell way, John needs to get back in uniform. All right, no, I got it. I'm doing 15. Oh, okay, okay. Hell, wait. Amazon crime, Bezos stole three hours of my life. And was on crime. I liked Amazon crime. Richie got ten minutes, okay? 1 o'clock. Okay, you're on the clock. I gave you a turd's day night football. That game stung. Mike cliff, he covers the Broncos for 9 news, kind enough to get up and join us here early in the morning if we didn't watch the game, Mike. How would you sum up what happened last night? Yeah, I've gone along with the theme you just introduced there. Amazon delivered America box of doo doo, you know, that was, that was bad. Bad offensive football. I guess it's insulting to the defenses that, you know, you call it overall a real ugly, terrible game. But the NFL is about offense now. They changed all the rules to make it favorable for the offense. And they couldn't get anything going. It's hard to believe that, you know, going into that game had you hyped it a couple of weeks ago, or maybe a couple months ago, you know, Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson, one day are going in the Hall of Fame. Yeah. And they came up with that performance. I thought Matt Ryan, for the longest time, look like a washed up quarterback. And then Russell Wilson at the end made some horrific gastly interceptions that were that were costly. It was just, it was just a bad product. You had Bronco fans Boeing and how often do the sad happen, Mike. The Bronco fans booing during a game. When you're leading

"Our defense has played great. We're gonna rely on that. The offense still is an instinct. Then if you go back to the Seattle game, they could have easily won that game. I mean, when they fumbled twice right before they went into the end zone. They could be four and one. And granted, not pretty. But they're not four in one. Even if they were four in one, they wouldn't be a four in one team. But, you know, that's how close it's been for the Broncos. But it shouldn't be this close. These are things that are just stupid decisions. Poor decisions, bad decisions. It's one thing of a team outplays you. Or maybe you make a mistake as you're trying to do something, you're being aggressive. But I just didn't understand going for a touchdown. It's almost like you got the feeling that coach and quarterback wanted to say, we got to get a touchdown. This is embarrassing. The only thing that hurt you. The only thing that can cost you the game. Is throwing an interception. That's it. If you get sacked, the clock runs, and you have the lead. Where do you start? Where do you finish? Here is Russell Wilson on why the offense is not very good. Russie said on that final drive, that's how it's supposed to look. Why do you think it isn't looking like that right now? Well, I think we've had some good drives. I think the first drive of the game I believe it was we moved the ball well. We were efficient. You know, for us, it's having these negative plays. That's on us. On us as players are starting, like I said, it starts with me. It's not on coach Hackett, it's not on anybody else. He's called some really good plays. You know, we got to make the plays. We gotta be able to hit it and we got to be able to get that first down. This and that, whatever it is. And remember when Russ would end his press conference, go hawks. Well, now he's with the Broncos and he ends his press conference. Even last night, after that loss. Thank you, as far as country. That's right. Broncos country. That's right. I thought you guys were joking with you. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I went, no, no, no, no, no, no. I like that he did it in like the like there's like a dour sort of tone like Broncos country. Let's ride after a win, but we lost the Broncos country. Let's rock. He's almost tailing on, play one more time there, Mark. Thank you, I brought this country. That's right. What is happening? Okay, orange. Consistency? Yeah, I guess. Well, you know, he's got to go to the press conference and he's got to be a leader and you've got to say all the right things. I understand all of that. I mean, it feels robotic when he goes there sometimes when you're like, all right. This seems kind of strange here. Even when, you know, they had clock management issues in Seattle. You go to the press conference, go, hey, all right, well, okay. It's like, no, no. I mean, you gotta go there at least, say, am I disappointed? Yes. Give me some real raw motion there. I remember when I thought that I was told this, that if Aaron Rodgers leaves the packers, Denver makes the most sense because they have all of these weapons. It's a young team. And a lot of people thought that. So I thought, if Russ goes to Denver, got a lot of young talent there. Well Russ has been part of the problem here.

"Our good buddy, Mike klis, 9 news Broncos insider presented by Bette river sports. Mike, welcome back to the program. It's Stokely and Zach filling in for Mike Evans, but we're also hanging out with Mark schlier, so we got a triple threat going on. We appreciate your time. How much in the past four or 5 years, it's been a very common thread in terms of a narrative through these Bronco teams that good roster really good defense. Team that's held back by the quarterback. Well, now you got your quarterback. How much do we trust the defensive side of the ball here going into training camp? I think they've taken some hits compared to the compared to the past. One being Bond Miller, you know, the pass rusher that was von Miller was a special talent. And even though he was hurt, he missed a whole season and he never did quite recapture the dominance that he had in the 2015 postseason and some other seasons earlier in his career. That's a significant loss. Randy Gregory, the Broncos got to replace him. You hope Bradley Chubb has a full healthy season for the first time since 2018. I think it starts there as far as how good does defense is going to be is what kind of pass rush. It's obvious that George Payton emphasized the pass rush. She's got all kinds of them now. His first draft pick Nick Benito was a pass rusher. He moved baron browning from inside linebacker to the outside because of his athleticism. He still had Malik read. So it's probably the deepest position now, but is it as good without bond Miller and we'll see about whether it's a healthy Bradley Chubb or not? Yeah, right. And right now Mike, the report has been that Bradley Chubb is healthy and he's talked about feeling better than he's felt in the last several years and it's a load off his mind. Where are you with Bradley Chubb and what kind of production do you need out of Bradley Chubb for this defense to kind of take it to that next level as a pass rushing unit? Yeah, I mean, he wound up with zero sacks last year. He made some impactful plays at the end of the season without getting sacks, but still you need 12 sacks from Bradley Chubb. For this defense to be with your hope and Randy Gregory for all his talent, I think his career high is 6 X, correct. And he's coming off the keys coming off that shoulder surgery. And he's mended. I think they're still going to take them slow, by the way, to start training camp. You might see them on the side that that first week in training camp is they take them back slowly and gradually, but they need ten to 12 sacks out of him. They're paying them 14 million. They're paying Bradley Chubb. I think 13 million this year. I mean, that's 12 that's 12 sack territory. So that's what that's what you're hoping for. And then I think at inside linebacker, I think they're better than people think because of Jonas Griffith. I'm telling you guys the Broncos really like him and he was impactful the last four games made a lot of dynamic plays. The second area I think is going to be how good is how good is the secondary you've got Kareem Jackson at strong safety, who's 34 this year. And you got to shake out that number four cornerback between Michael owes your modia who had a heck of an off season and The Rookie map is. Mike, what do you expect to see from this Nathaniel Hackett slash Russell Wilson offense? Should we see more three, four wide receiver sets? Is it going to be a little bit of the Melvin Gordon javonte Williams? So what should we expect to see from this offense? That's a good question. It's going to be a mesh of both. I mean, Hackett, you know, that white zone Hackett is about running the ball, you know? And Kyle Shanahan, it's from the Kyle Shanahan type of system. Matt Lafleur, that they like to run the ball. At the same time, Russell Wilson is a guy that one reason why he's a Bronco and not a seahawk is he wanted a little bit more freedom to control the offense to have more of an impact on an offense. And so I think there's still, I think there's still working through that. I'm not sure. I think it'll go from week to week, depending on their opponent. I think sometimes you'll see the double tight end and you'll see run run run with the third down, pick up the first down on the past and other times you're going to see the three receiver set. I think a lot of it might depend on KJ hamler. How healthy he is. As far as whether he can get into the slot on a fairly regular basis, 25 to 30 snaps a game. And he could really open up things for that offense. But you look at Green Bay in what they did, it was more, they rained in the number of pass attempts and increased the rushing attempts, but the passing seems to be more impactful. I mean, Aaron Rodgers had more impactful type passes. So I think that's what you're going to see from Russell Wilson in the Broncos this year. Mike, we got a new owner. A lot of talk was, hey, after we get this new owner, maybe next order of business might be extending Russell Wilson, we're in training camps 12 days away or so. Any chance that we get a contract extension for Russell Wilson here in the next couple of months? You know, I don't know where that sits. The way it sits right now is they haven't talked. And so it appears to me and he's still got two years left on his contract. He's going to get a contract extension. It might be it might be after this season. It could be as long as after this season. But we'll see. I think, you know, I don't know how these things flow with these quarterbacks. We're about to get big money. Whether it's done during the season, I would think, I would think it would be difficult now when you have your payroll set when you have your salary cap set, it would be difficult to get a deal done now to finish it. Maybe you start talking now. But it would be difficult to finish it here in the early part of the season. I think you want more flexibility as the season goes on and you definitely address it first thing after the season. I want to squeeze one more here on the way out before we let you go, Mike, Brett, circling back to Bradley Chubb. You mentioned it. Didn't have a sack last year. Literally hundreds literally hundreds of NFL players had a sack last year somehow Chubb did not. He's a 5th overall pick. If he somehow had a big year, do you think instead of resigning chub during the season, we could see the franchise tag used on Bradley Chubb? Yeah, that would make sense because it would be one big year in your scenario. It's one big year after three disappointing years because the injuries. And the fact that he's been banged up, he's now had an ACL surgery and surgery at both ankles. You know, I do think that you would probably be looking at a franchise tag and that scenario. But franchise tags are usually placeholders for contract extensions. So if you're going to go there, you're probably going there with the idea of trying to work out some kind of deal with Bradley Chubb. But let's see, let's see how it goes first, guys. Let's see if let's get him a sack first. Right. And before worrying about his next contract. Great stuff, Mike. We will catch up with you a

"I say recovery needs to be not just really went to the beach that could be as stressful depending on what you're thinking about sosa freak me out so so the the better thing i think is to have something you can do yoga or go from take your dog for walk and be present in that moment or mindfulness mike klis getting bird the business world today. It's a way of bringing your attention to something neutral like your breath and then when your mind goes to that thing it's upsetting you and you notice it. You bring it back to the breath and what that does is strengthen the muscle of letting go what's upsetting going back to something neutral or as doctor z. Said joy. not happy but something that is different than that saying that you find stressful and doing it remember. I talked about practice. Practice actually changes the brain so the more you practice after example some people. I've been working with different groups of businesspeople lately. You're showing them how to do this. Simple breath focus. Which takes your mind off stuff that's upsetting and the more we do it if you do every day in a lot of them do. Do you know five minutes ten minutes. Whatever it may be more you do it. The stronger that mental muskets. That's a fantastic word. Daniel was so many people talk to me about getting something in their mind and not being able to get away from it. You know having that thing. Just torture their mind. And they can't sleep they wake up the middle of the night and the leap and they just stress over it. They just think about it and they can't they can't get away from it. So that is wonderful. Beautiful story or technique on how to start that process of getting the brain towards stronger and stronger and stronger to get away from those thought. Just super move. It is a super move and it's amazing. How many people out there suffer from that okay. Well it's it's not the events it's how you pass the wrangle. Yeah that's the difference in you. Wanna give yourself a way of letting go dropping it down just being in a better space right now. I want to educate the listeners. About one move daniel. You've written about that. I stole from me. I wanted to get that out there. I want to apologize. Thank you apologize. you're welcome to it. Whatever it is what is it yet. Wide read where you said. Every morning you go off to a small studio behind your house and you try to ignore all email and phone calls until lunchtime. Then i launch into the sometimes frantic business of a tightly scheduled day that was the routine. You had kind of reversed where i go to work every day and basically around one o'clock most days i come back here and i do the show. Prep and i record podcast. And i do editing and keep my phone off and it is. It's really it's. It's helped me to stay energized and focused. How long did it take you daniel to develop this routine that works for you. Well i came upon it when i had book. Contracts that intel to deliver on time and also you know for many years. I worked at the new york times. And so i was doing articles on deadline. And it means you have to have the capacity to tune out everything else. You can't watch your phone for you. Know every little texture stuff you have to give yourself. It's calm could cool time sometimes. It's a protected time and place where you can be productive and you ignore phone calls. You don't look email you block out the outside world. I think central these days to get things done because if you're frantic all the time if you're in meetings if you talk to people you never do those things that are most important to you so i learned early on that you. I found that i could take a morning. I worked at home. And who knew. I was up in studio up the hill behind my house. No phone no email and by the way it was the most productive time. Then i go and do everything else. I heard i heard you talk about this. And i saw you. I saw the notable quotable that you had a were you wrote we need to recreate boundaries when you carry a digital gadget that creates a virtual link to the office you need to create a virtual boundary. That did not exist before. Could you for somebody out there. Who's going be. you don't understand. I need to keep my phone on all the time. You don't understand. I need to but you don't get it in my scenario i need to. So they're going to their kids events they're going to cheating events soccer events going to camps. They're going to and they just never are never mentally and physically present at the same time because they're never turning their phone off. What advice would you have for somebody who is struggling to recreate struggling to create boundaries. First of all helps to realize there used to be the boundary between work and life. This is like the old as ancient times pre-digital but those things were separate the two separate domains. If you want to be there for your kids you can also be there for your office. So what we need to do now is become conscious of something that used to happen automatically and to set the boundaries. Like okay. i'm. I'm going to be at my kids softball game soccer game the next hour and you don't have a message. I'll get back to in two hours and people will have to live with that. But what if. I upset somebody. They know someone saying what. What if they upset somebody. You know it's your question. What's more important loving your kid and letting your kid know that you're there for him or her or having someone be upset. What upset is.

The top is excited about fans back training camp again gates open at eight thirty know autographs this year because of kobe. But it'll be good to see fans back at training camp. And is he said back in power field my high and before we even get a question about ownership joe Head things off at the pass. So i'm gonna let you hear that then the couple of questions from ryan o'halloran of the post. There's a mike klis question. And then i follow up mics question. So you'll hear that entire little exchange here from joel. Ellis right off the top through his answer to my question obviously recognized in addition to questions you might have about the team or the organization. You're going to have some about where things stand with ownership and regarding the dismissal of the lawsuit. I'm sure you're where we cannot comment on that specifically do to some confidentiality considerations so i'd simply defer to the public order judgeship yonne issued a few weeks ago and let that speak for itself and as importantly looking ahead to the future. I would tell you this. I said in a brief statement a few weeks ago We want a. Our goal is timely responsible and orderly determination of ownership and what that will entail for us. There's some things some things that we still need to work through but our goal is to be able to lay out when the season is over and vickers promise it that'll be in the middle of february that we lay out for everybody a time line to a transition of ownership that will take place next year prior to start of the season. That's important it's important to the organization. It's important to the beneficiaries. A- pat's children to get resolved and we're moving forward on that we're team is not for sale. There are few auctions out there as to what we can do. And you probably aware of those but We're going to get through this season. Our goal is to focus on and have a good year and hopefully be competitive and be around for the postseason tournament. Once that begins. And that's where our focus is so until the season's over you're not gonna hear a whole lot about the future of ownership of the team so we'll take a few questions you came with your dare They're fine with that. I i've had probably. I would say almost monthly meetings with roger goodell in a form of a phone call or actually went to new york several times and just met with him a week ago sunday and main his summer home back there and i went up and saw him and kind of laid out from the plan and He seemed executive acceptable to it. He was fine with it. Actually and had some discussions with the members of the finance committee specifically clark About what our plans are. So we're okay on that front well ownership will be concluded. We'll have a we'll have a transition yours truly won't be controlling owner by by the time sometime in the spring or early summer. I i can't put an exact light on it but believe me. We need to get it. Resolved to take trout inside. Well i i can't really comment on what you know what transpired other than the order itself. But the nfl wasn't a party to this. This was between some beneficiaries of the trust trustees. So that's as much as i can say on. Joe deniro all those questions with britney bowl and where is she stand. Is she still in position to possibly take control the team. Yeah she's working hard and adding value and a lot of different areas And i'm i'm conversing with her all the time we have weekly meetings and and you know in in some form her being able to run the team a consideration for sure it will require some some conditions from beneficiaries and others perhaps but if she is going to run it that conclusion will be drawn will be made sometime next year as well. So that's one of the options for sure. As i said there are certain conditions that come with that. And i'm not comment too much on those because those involve discussions with other beneficiaries and those are private in my view. I guess piggybacking on what might just said oh or little. You said their options. Can you kind of lay out. What can you lay out. As far as what options are out there beyond the team is always possible. Obviously and and that's one and then and then if it's going to stay in the family britney's the really the other option but there. There are certain as i said conditions that will go with that and they come in various forms so they might be one or two other kind of captions within that option that makes sense just. He put a cap on all this. Joe did reiterate that the team is not for sale. And if you're having a hard time understanding kind of all of the stewardship and trust the trustees i get it. It's confusing but essentially league wants a single owner however there are exceptions e mentioned. They could ask for a waiver. Norma hunt is lamar hunt's widow and i want to say as clark hans mom. I think she's cons mom but she technically owns the chiefs. Clark hunt runs the chiefs and the league is fine with that. Just like virginia. Mccaskey i think is still with us. Doesn't run the day-to-day the bears anymore. But she is still technically the bears owner and same with dan. Rooney's wife are ruining the seconds. Mom still i think technically owns the steelers and art renew second runs it so it would. Just be like if stan kroenke down. The road doesn't run the team because he's incapable too old. Whatever just doesn't want to still owns it. But josh kroenke would potentially run it almost certainly will run it so britney bowl and it's a little more complicated between pat bowlen's siblings and then britain bolan siblings. They all kind of have to sign off on being charged in joe. Even alluded to more siblings could still be in the mix which means the one of the sisters from bats. first marriage specifically bath could also be involved. Johnny bolan in theory could be involved. Britney's little sister annabel could be involved in some form of fashion. There could be more cooks in the kitchen. If you will. They will have to kind of all agree that britney gets run play. People think that's unlikely and that the two older sisters basically going to say yes on anything that let's brittany run it. Let the team self worth three and a half billion dollars give or take. Let there be a single owner and then the ball and family will get a small ownership percentage probably on the backside five or ten percent. So let's just pretend mark cuban jeff bezos. They end up owning the team and the bowl and still have their ownership. Swedes probably different than they. Currently have And you know we'll get a ring if the team wins and all that but it and they won't go to owners and more and they'll just be a minority owner just like The minority owners say of the washington team like rhetoric w. smith the founder fedex whose son arthur is now the head. Coach of the falcons You know he or stan kroenke when he was minority owner. The rams right he got a super bowl ring and he owned forty percent of the team or thirty three percent of the team. But georgia frontier was the majority owner so we'll see all plays out joyless did say that he will continue to stay with the organization until the ownership is settled so other that's brittany and any combination siblings With britney really running it or soldier new owner. You will stay on as long as necessary but the plan is to have ownership settled the future owner whether that's sprinting bowl. In or someone else settled by the spring and if they put the team up for sale obviously plenty of people will bid on a marquee franchise like the broncos. There's certainly people that could buy it outright on their own as well as plenty of people that could get a group together to buy. But it would happen. I bet pretty fast. Just like the carolina sell happened pretty fast. When david tepper who was a minority owner of the steelers was able to put the group together. But i i think he almost owns it. Outright the panthers because he's billionaires his own right so it'll be pretty fascinating but if you want to see more of that you can check everything out on the denver broncos website and we all have stuff on our website as well so i appreciate you. "Ten kfi k came down that lawsuit determined that denver broncos ownership house formerly officially been dismissed. Now we still don't know it's not clear if a settlement has been reached what the contents of that settlement are and we still don't know to whom ownership of the team will eventually go but paris thought and i know change is scary on just about any level right because it entails different way of thinking. But you know we've already seen that to some degree. Within the broncos or and chad johnson picked up on this news and sports illustrated had some interesting things to say about not only What he considers. According to many insiders weasel words i know because we're not specifying those insiders are but apparently he has accessed to nfl insiders who believe that ownership with the denver broncos will soon transfer from bowl and family to an outside suitor within the next calendar year. Now's mr johnson goes on to say. Certainly it would be a sad day for all of us. Broncos fans see the team's ownership pass beyond pat bowlen's airs but such a transfer. Could it be argued would bring its fair share of excitement and change adding that yes. Change is a little unsettling but it can also be good in fact. Sometimes it's needed now. You may disagree with his stance on this but i'll just toss it out there for your consideration. This has the broncos recently offered or opted to put that change into effect as well evolution as swept through. The team's front office says john elway relinquished his long-held gm duties passing the torch to george peyton now put president of football operations. Elway has one year left on his deal. Which kind of correspondence with the timeline. That many expect for the broncos to be sold now if the broncos are sold and if elway does not return after twenty twenty one and granted. That's a lot of if but perhaps the vacuum created the top of the team's football executive tree would need to be filled by another. Nfl power broken broker. Someone like oh. I don't know maybe peyton manning everybody loves peyton manning who doesn't love peyton manning in fact ryan kelly at the con. Well use some love. Peyton manning will your dad does but you do to the named your puppy payton dark. Baynton the dog out. And you've got a way the dog as well right. Oh yes all right. So you're all in broncos but as the broncos continued to struggle post super bowl fifty many fans have pined away in hopes that ceo joe ls and or the bolan heirs would approach manning about an elway esque executive role. That's never materialized. And now the nfl's only five time mvp is set to enter the pro football hall of fame on his first ballot. That here's kinda interesting. Peyton manning was making the media rounds during major league. Baseball's all-star week got cornered by nine. Newses mike klis and mike ask him the question. Everybody's thinking about whether he'd even be interested in such a role if ownership of the broncos transfers to somebody else. I'm hearing about a group of members of the billionaire boys club maybe five members of the billionaires boys club That would be able to pony enough enough cash to actually by the broncos.
