Oregon's black latino latina latin x indigenous asian pacific islander tribal and students of color like. I don't disagree with anything you're saying. I'm just saying that these types tests need to be earlier in elementary throughout. A lot of these kids are too far gone and he had to figure out something that they're good at that will make them money to i and life. Don't you guys remember taking tests throughout school. We always has malaysia. You had to take a test to make sure you could go to the next jess. My kids take a test before the end of every school year at standardized testing and those are evil. Those are you hate them. Or you're a bad person. Yeah i mean. I get another good point that i i saw like what if like i know we have. We have standards that we have to meet like they want you know a certain number of ratings. They want for salespeople to sell certain amount of things so like are. We know like if if we're not going to be doing this for graduating high school like once people get out into the real world are companies no longer holding people to standards of performance like in other words. Like it'll be you just get to keep your job no matter what well you know what. I don't sell good. I get nervous itsel. Well well how are you correct me. And that's my that's my truth. I couldn't couldn't do or writing skill. So i didn't test good. Yeah i seen it. I seen that you know so. They are not supposed to hold people to those standards. You're not hold anybody any standard anymore. So i'm reading this stuff. And i'm like man. You know that. Mike judge movie really is coming. True it really is were there. There should be as much of an emphasis on going to college. I don't is a person who didn't go to college. I somehow made it through You know. I did find something that i was passionate about. I pursued that It's not for everybody. it's not even forever job. Every job does not need a car. Because i think all it does is number one gets people in the debt number two. It's a you know it gets people idea that just because they went to college all of a sudden they they're gonna get an aja. It sets them up with these expectations. Because i think society has done that you say you go to college ended up with a good paying job and whether and in people expect it because everything's quicker now you know it's on demand society so you get out of college is supposed to have the six figure job and someone's just supposed to be waiting for the end of the stage But the phony diploma that you get you know before you get the real one and they hand you like a you know a contract or screaming when you walk off the stage. It's not for everybody. Certain fields obviously need to go to college. Doctor lawyer things like that but jam. Yeah hopefully that will go away to. Oh that's what we do. What your bad tester. But you wanna be a doctor surgeon. You know what i mean. But we're not going to hold you any kind of standards of know-how. Here's where scouts crack people's chess open and we'll see how again how goes. Yeah i'm guessing. This is a great idea. I get nervous taking tests. But i to wasn't a good test taker because i didn't study. That's why i didn't know the material. That's what you're studying you learn the material you'll probably be okay at the pass. Yeah.

Those zero edgewood would have would have a heads up on even zero hedges and talking about this. And what's going on in this regard. I mean they're talking about other stuff but you would figure so pretty big deal in regards to the last time this happened. The last time this happened was in two thousand eight. Let's read the article. Wells fargo is ending a popular consumer lending product. Angering some of its customers. The bank is shutting down all in all not people with bad credit all existing personal lines of credit in the coming weeks and no longer offers the product. So if you have a personal line of credit active right now there's gonna shut you off gonna shut you off with it. Thank you allegations for you. Twenty dollars donation sir. And you're right people are right you gotta get your kingdoms in order you got to put yourself in a position where you own little debt as possible as little debt as possible. Yeah i don't know how they're doing it. But this is what they're saying the revolving the revolving credit lines which typically let users borrow three thousand one hundred thousand were pitched as a way to consolidate high interest credit card debt remember. They're doing this for the last year. Oh reconsolidate consolidate. Oh refinance get more money. Pay off your loans at blah blah blah. Now we're not doing that anymore. Let's see wells. Fargo recently reviewed its product offerings and decided to discontinuing offering new personal and portfolio line of credit accounts and close all existing account. So i'm guessing i'm guessing they're calling in these loans. They're calling if you have a low now. I don't know how they're gonna do it. But they're we're closing everything. They're shoring up their their financial their financial situation. What is the bank doing. Look at this. what is this bank doing. Its closing out as much existing debt that it owes as possible. Why would a bank do that. Why i'm asking you listener people in the chat room. Why would a bank closed all personal lines of credit and all its existing lines and not even offer it going forward who knows law right now saying that. It's shutdown these lines so i don't know how they're doing it all the bank's not going bust. They're just trying to weather the oncoming storm because people are going to be desperate and they know they need to have as much what they need to have as much liquidity as possible in the more personalized credit. I think that a lot of people just say as being dumb and made for people that resemble the characters and they think it's just garbage and toy huma bar like thing that mike judge's done whether it's office space idiocy say King of the hill. Of course it's really brilliantly satirical In a way say mirrors one of my previous pixel another upset and that was bottom. You've got these two characters. I've kind of just being forgotten by society in the case and babies and by head to just like two teenage boys out for the most pau ferro and adjust living raised. On a diet of television. They come from what can they seem like impoverished neglectful homes. They live together. We don't see any kind of parents. They just live the life watching. Tv leaving going to school coming back and just getting into all kinds of scrapes. And it's yeah. It's just brilliantly satirical of them characters then you have a lot of adult characters that surround anita van driessen. Who's the real hippie. Cia who tries to rached through our music and he tries to basically find their the really good parnham. He believes them. Now time you've got mr anderson. Who's the prototype. Hank hill. Them and no-one society can actually reach. They've society so poorly equipped to handle the man bays and by just kind of fall through the cracks and just carry on existing way of looking at. My wife has I haven't done that. Yeah, I've done it a CZ. Well, they do like it's called a scratch test. They did mine on my arm where they they sort of scratch you in about Like 16 different spots with different allergy potential allergens to see how you react to them. And then they could tell you That you're allergic to this or you're not allergic to that. I'm allergic to cats, For example, not the musical, although I hated it, too. Actually, cats and I am like deathly allergic to horses as it turns out. They told me that if I'm going to be around horses, I should carry an EpiPen. That's how allergic I am to them. But Mark Wahlberg went in for one of these tests. They did it on his back. I think maybe the you know the doctors or nurses just wanted to see Mark Wahlberg's back. I'm just allergic to work, by the way. Yeah, well, Aziz, especially right before a holiday weekend. I could understand that. With different allergens on its back, and it turned out that almost everything reacted turns out. Marky Mark is allergic to just about everything, and he posted a picture of himself on his instagram page. I watch it with them and not really understand the humor. But I know I was like, Okay. I think they're funny. They're an instagram, Tic tac and Corona virus. Can you imagine that stupid snorting laugh, Although, well, Mike Judge, Of course, he created the Syria the original Siri's. He produced it. "For. Yeah. View to give don't leave a review at all. I don't want this person was there. Everyone has their off days like whom I to to judge. But also, but I don't want someone to die. I really don't know. I really don't know. They're so scared late pull up and he was like hail. Sorry. I was late. I'm dying. All right. Lease. So Alec brought up ball tansy in Japan. And I was like, oh, he's either going to bring up this or this other thing, it's a luckily, I came prepared for the other thing. And I think that you can probably guess what it is why don't you guess before? I just go for other thing is that Barnaby. No, it's clo-. We'll kind of. Yeah. It basically is it's in the post modern. Okay. So we have talking about. Alikhan Alec is since we spend most of our days just brainstorming about videos. We kind of are a little bit too close to each other. I talked to talk tomorrow. How about that stars born? So she talks about this thing called the postmodern bossa, whereas a regular boss will just tell you to tell you what to do like. Hey, fuck face. Here's Lankan at nine. You're doing this. If you like it or not the postmodern boss tries to be your friend. He's like, overly polite and chummy and tells you what to do. But fails, it an appeals to friendship or a larger company mission. That's me unfortunate. So. Well, here's the thing. Jacobs. Jay and. Well, the where it gets. I am lumber where it gets troublesome is. So for example, if you say instead of be here Saturday, it's you don't have to come in Saturday, but your participation would really show that you've bought into the company culture and the company's mission. And this is according to him more, this is more oppressive because not only asks you to do the work, but to love the work, and that's so much more dangerous because it's asking you to essentially brainwash yourself for the purpose of the company, and to lumbergh isn't quite the postmodern boss, but he does represent a bit of this transition that direct in which the with the. Yeah, if you could just do that or hey, Peter what's up, you know, like, but that's exactly who. Yeah. Charge is a hundred percent. So I though layer. So let me just let me just read the quote. So the guy this is the postmodern boss to t he says, look we want you to express yourself. Okay. Now, if you feel that the bare minimum is enough then. Okay. But some people choose to wear more. And we encourage that. Ok you do want to express yourself. Don't you? Yeah. Okay. Great. That's all I ask. And that's Mike judge by the way is really, okay. I I mean, I'm that guys work has been through my life so much. I don't really like a huge somebody. He's amazing. His over is incredible. Yeah. I I really love. This theory doesn't use these terms. But in my mind, it's the Jewish grandmother theory of power, which is exactly what my grandmother is like as Jewish woman. It's not like, you know, Alec come. Visit me on Saturday. It's like, oh, your grandmother so lonely don't you want to visit her wouldn't that make? But I gotta go to six flags. Six flags. Sounds like fun. Yeah. Just leave me here Bologne in the dark. You were star. What do I fair parts of the movie is the workplace accident that was the characters? Name name gets in Tom, Tom. It's not a workplace accident. He gets hit by a car. Oh, sorry. How does he get that huge settlement? Then. Hitter, bones them. Okay. That's right. So he's at the party, and he's all fucked up in a wheelchair. And he says just remember if you hang in there long enough good things can happen. Me. This along with the pet rock thing that his whole characters just the super cynical ways that you can escape the system because this movie was made member in the nineties in nineteen ninety four when that woman at McDonald's spilled that high. Get paid got paid. And so I feel like in the nineties. There was all this made me remember that liberation through the litigation or something Acura, people would always just jokingly say like, oh, man. You know, I'll just get hit by a truck sue. And then I'll be good the rest of my life. You know? It's like, maybe. Hey. Live. Traffic. I always say like, please don't get on the ladder. Here. We have really shitty. Coachie one. Yeah. And then he does a similar kind of cynical with the pet rock. I I love this. Let me find it. He says, you know, there are people in this world that don't have to put up with all this shit. Like that guy that invented the pet rock? You see that's what you have to do. You have to use your mind and come up with a really great idea like that, and you can make millions never have to work again. And then I think it's Michael Bolton is like the pet rock was really a great idea. And he goes shirt was the guy made a million dollars. I made a million dollars. Just like my success in life needs to be by making money via the most bullshit way. And I respect it. I think he's evolved a lot. But I think it's just like a luxury where you just sort of. I don't know. I think the titled turn like maybe one day. I'll be like it's all about the money who gives a shit what it is. And I think I did really come from that pedigree. Yeah. And or I had mired it. I don't think I actually had it in me to do to to make shitty shit and trying to make tons of money. But I know people who can and I admired it for a long time. Now, Mike now, I don't wanna do that. I'm sure it will swing right back. Shuna shit. So we can make more shitty money. Yeah. Journalists can't do it. Yeah.

"What everybody welcome to show me. The meaning wisecracks movie podcasts. Oh me. My name is Jaren joined here by the show me the meeting crew, we got jaycoe. Hello. Hello. And Greg what's up and joining us again is Alec. What's up Alec? Yeah. All right. So today, we're talking about the nineteen ninety nine film office space written and directed by Mike judge starring Ron Livingston and Jennifer Aniston as always we're gonna go around and talk about the first time, we saw this movie as well as revisiting for this podcast. But on top of that, I wanna know what would you do with the million dollars to Stark's same tat? Same thing. Let's start with Greg. Greg woes like first time. You saw you guys. I gotta tell you, man. I can't remember the first time I've seen this movie. If it was like, this movie's been around ever since I would have been around since I graduated. I recall I remember seeing it in like early two thousand early two thousand one that's when I recall like CNN a lot. And I remember job. I had that this movie was referenced all the time. And I'm Doug lingers for you. What was that? I was working the first time I saw this this movie, I was working at like telemarketing gigs cubicles. Worldcom cashes green. Hear my other voice. That was the first time. I remember that the movie, and it had all these references to it. But watching it again, man, it's it's wild. How deep that movie. Is you know, that's what I was filling while I was watching it over the weekend. And how many how weird it is to like I can see myself in that situation right now. And and just the when he just stops giving a fuck when he just stops, caring. It's crazy how he starts getting everything that'd be kinda once at that point. But it's still a fantasy. And it's a great movie and with a million dollars man, that's not even a lot of money anymore. I by crew couple of cribs, and you know. Of course, that's nothing containers. Do back home. They're not just travel a lot, and I probably do drugs again. That's what you were saying watching it since high school. This is the first time I've watched it since I've had a job, you know. So I definitely has a whole different. Meaning when you're not watching it as a kid. Yeah. Corporate accounts being accounts to speaking. RJ? What about you? I Vito is the reason to reset a childhood friend that sought in theaters he went to go see some other movie. I don't know what was happening in ninety nine or ninety eight whatever movie was playing that was sold out. So you had to go see office spaces movie called office space. And he said, dude, it was amazing. And we must have been middle school or high school probably that time, and he said, it's incredible. So he got it on tape. Or I think it's tape at the time had come to his house and watch it. It was one of those movies went straight to tape. At all. And I sat down and I loved it. I remember being so funny like these characters the first time kinda like the Coen brothers has these kind of cartoon characters. It felt a lot to me like a comic are used to read Dilbert in a lot of this corporate environment being the joke, and these people in these characters so I thought I time at vito's house, I guess in two thousand or something and then I ended up living that life. I worked in corporate software for seven years of my life and my career, and you know, we were trying to be the anti office space, but there's so much of that deceives into any job. So like the movie just became like this bible for me for years and years and years, I've seen it probably really like forty to fifty times honestly a lot. And I did not watch it again for this podcast. I don't know I really needed to. But yeah, it's very. Thirty minutes ago. Join the pot. Yeah. Sure. Love it. I got the tech Cup. We got Mr. Mr. lumbergh back there. No. It was you know, it's just a great movie. What would I do the million dollars? I to do the same task. I would do nothing. You don't need a million dollars. Nothing man. They look cousin. He's broke don't do shit. Yes. Words to live. Also, get my ass up last Colinas SF at six AM every day this week put up drywall up the McDonald's. Alec by you. I don't remember exactly the first time I saw movie, but it came out around the time I was nine and it's movie one of the few movies. I owned on DVD. I watched all the time at some point. I made the conscious decision for better worse to like become Peter at that time. So like stopped doing all my homework. I was like, you know, what I could pass school with just doing well on tests like, I don't need homework. And like just like interpersonal problems did not give shit. I'm not still like that. I went to college is like, oh, I actually enjoy myself. But yeah, had this very weird effect on me as a child, and it's also weird. The other people might know, this is the other movie that had a weird influenced by called and they came out in the same year. Ninety seven ninety nine ninety nine. The matrix office space American Beauty. I got to say. As we're times better than. The music was certainly better. I mean, I. Algebra for. Sure. Anyway, I was like revisiting it. Alec. It was awesome. Yeah. It was just as good. If not better, I think I understood context the last time I saw this was probably before I started working in different kinds of offices and stuff like that. So it gives me a whole new context, which the mazing and as far as a million dollars is not a lot of money. He'll like I could buy a nice two bedroom in a nice neighborhood in Brooklyn. Dollars is still a lot of money. I mean, look we're talking shitty software job. Yeah. A lot of money. What the answer changed drastically. If I up to two million. I mean it hasn't. What's the number amount of become so? We talked about this Jared five million dollars million ten million million and never have to work a day in your life. Offers rest where the million you can live off the interest. But like you could live middle class lifestyle off the interest. You'd never be able to touch it ten million dollars even making like six hundred thousand seven hundred thousand dollars a year. You know, if you play your money, right? What do you what what more do you need in that? A million. You can fuck that up at a week. By tristesse. A single iota except for you know. No. I mean. Yeah. Actually, the freedom that you really want. I think is like you're saying ten million dollars, which I guess, I can't imagine. It's gone ten x. I mean, it hasn't inflation hasn't gotten that bad in twenty years. But anyway, ten million dollars never have to work a day again in your life. You get to fly first class anywhere. That's nice. I want to know because I was listening to your Greg listening to black stage. Greg's podcasts he does with us. And you guys mentioned something about how when you see Silicon Valley billionaires like these nerdy guys in like, Ferraris and stuff. How it's weird. And yeah, I think about that a lot. How no matter how much money you make no matter, whatever, you're still you. And you're still you're still there. And now I wanna hear like when you say I've million dollars due to dudes at once or what is. Yeah. Facetious, but but not really. Through the steps of. All right. I haven't billion dollars. What are the steps to get to? I think you really attractive men in your bed or whatever it is to have Craigslist. Logical steps here of two chicks the same time. And let's take Peter's example, it probably me are Lawrence's example, it probably means like he's going to get out of that shitty apartment. He's going to get a nice pad and the paddle become the panty dropper. And that will be the reason why he has the confidence to be able to get to the same time or he'll feel confident see this is like I go back to Greg. Greg talking around his podcast. But like look at Z's, man, he has all the money in the world who women horrible women. Still take a girl back to which. I'm sure super impressive. And you're right. Oh, fuck and you're right. No. I mean, it's not like all of a sudden money, right? It's the money. Just like solves your -bility suave that doesn't mean that's the point. I'm bringing imagine that more people are willing to sleep with a weirdo when he's got a ton of money power. It can only help I guess. I mean, I remember I had a friend. So this this movie also it's filmed in Austin. I think Mike judge is also Texan, you know, the hill and stuff, and this is very much based on Dell. I'm pretty sure it's like Dell and the whole world of the startup technology culture. And like Dell Michael Dell is an example, a guy happen to meet he spoke at UT. I got to meet the guy, very socially awkward guy. And he's driving around in a test DeRosa sm- sports car crazy billionaire dude and he's taking each speed bump at like one mile per hour. And all the employees are just like it's still the same guy who couldn't couldn't ask her on a date at JC like it's the same people. Nothing changes have more money in the combined more toys, but that's it. But I don't that doesn't go away. Jacob if you had let's say, let's turn to ten million dollars or five million dollars. Would you still drop court? Would you still pick up a quarter found on the ground because I absolutely I absolutely. I still pick up Penny's journals like a sheep, sheep, sheep, man. I respect that not in it. But if it's on it. Yeah. I mean, I picked up a dime. Alec. You're out. How often do you go to coin star? Big big. No. I mean coin start. It's not bad.

Idiocracy and Wenatchee Washington and what they have in common
"What the the winner of this week's idiosyncrasy award goes to my hometown of Wenatchee Washington for bringing a part of the movie into. To the real world. If you haven't seen idiot Krissy even though I call it the scariest horror movie of all time. What Kapadia has it listed as a two thousand six American science fiction, comedy film, directed by Mike judge and starring Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph index shepherd. The film tells the story of two people who take part in a top secret military human hibernation experiment only to a week in five hundred years later in a dystopia and society where anti intellectualism and commercialism have run rampant and which is devoid of intellectual curiosities, social responsibility, and coherent notions of Justice and human rights, which is why I call it the scariest horror movie of all times because we're not supposed to see things from a five hundred year mythical future where mankind has evolved in real life. This was an outlandish movie that at the time could never become a reality, but twelve years later. Ter- and we see things almost daily that could have been ripped straight out of this movie like this. In one scene, they showed the outside of a hospital where the site inch was just not thought out properly. Let alone the name, something that obviously could never happen in a real life scenario. Right? Oh, no, my friends, you would be mistaken when actually Washington, just unveiled this new sign to the public one that thousands will see every day as they travel the George seller bridge on their way to win at Aki and that I'm sure not one not two, but at the very least three people would have had to have looked at and said, Yep, that looks good to me. Now it's not all the city's fault as they outsource the work to Lynnwood company called trans blue. Why they went with a company out there with such horrible reviews is anyone's guess. It should make me giggle because like the movie that even ran. Out a room at the end and had to curve the word down, but it just makes me sad for the future of humanity. This movie was supposed to be comedy, not a documentary of the future, please society I beg of you. Let this be the last thing out of this movie that appears in real life or else before, you know, it will have president Camacho in the White
