"For a vaccine to Battle Cove in 19 the World Health Organization's Dr Mike Ryan says the every elusive universal vaccine is quote the holy Grail of our long term hopes and quote We've spent many decades thinking and hoping for a universal vaccine against influenza, and that has not been achieved. The flu vaccine is not the same every year because the flu virus ah Rhinovirus changes to find a universal vaccine. Scientists need to find the consistent sequences. Proteins common in all viruses find enough of them to develop a vaccine to target those in an effort toward universal protection. If a vaccine for Corona virus could be developed, and we expect it will maybe common elements between it and a rhinovirus can be found that could lead to a universal vaccine. I'm

"Out a warning about a new flu virus that emerged in pigs in China and is similar to the swine flu hit the U. S in 2009. So far, no confirmed cases and people just pigs, but that could change. That's because the new flu, which has been named G four, has a capability straight out of a horror movie. As Dr Anthony Fauci told a Senate committee this week. G for appropriate PSA bit of genetic material from one host, say a pig. Takes another genetic material from another host, say a person and then stitches it into something new when they all mixed up together, and they contain some of the elements that might make them susceptible to being transmitted to humans. You always have the possibility that you might have another swine flu type outbreak, as we had in £2009 he says. There's no reason to worry about the G flew for Just yet.

Deshaun Watson endorses Houston Texans' potential Antonio Brown pursuit, even if the franchise hasn't shown interest

"Brown now, so there was some videos of him working out with Russell Wilson earlier this offseason. We've seen Antonio Brown working out with Lamar Jackson. Now to the Texans, maybe have some interest. We know their quarterback DeShaun Watson looks interested. Shawn Watson responded to a tweet from former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson. And what Shad Johnson tweeted a B to the Texans would like a prayer. Emoji link, I guess praying it happens. And this John Watson's tweet was basically a Mame of you know, Drake looking like, Really, I'm intrigued. I got intrigued type of look. Here's the reality. But the Texan sign Antonio Brown, then shame on Bill O'Brien. You cannot justify signing a bee in the same off season that you shipped away DeAndre Hopkins for nothing for David Johnson's contract in a second round pick, You cannot trade away the game's best wide receiver and then bring in a guy like Antonio Brown. Who is a locker room cancer. You can't do it. You can't justify it. Let's ignore the off the field stuff with a B and the suspension that's likely coming to the guy. Let's just talk about what he did the last year and 1/2. From alienating himself in Pittsburgh and missing a winner Go home Week 17 game. You then going to the Raiders and hurting himself by freezing his foot off. So then having an issue with the NFL helmet rule. To getting into with Mike. May I threatening to punch the guy? You secretly recording Jon Gruden. And then releasing a video after the Raiders finally released him and maybe be like I'm free. I'm free as it playing for the Raiders, making $15 million was, you know being kept in, you know. Unlivable conditions that Antonio Brown was in such a terrible life situation. He's finally free. That's what you get on the field, or, I guess technically off the field with the Raiders last year. We all know about the alleged crimes, and this guy has committed the lawsuit she's dealing with, so he's facing a suspension and you're the Texans and you're going to sign Antonio Brown Anthea traded away, arguably the game's best wide receiver. Who has never been and off the field malcontent who has always done the right thing in the Houston community, You can't sell Texans fans on Antonio Brown. If you traded away, DeAndre Hopkins, you just can't do it. Why would you trade away Hopkins to take a chance on Abie, who's facing a suspension? And we all know at some point Something's going to go wrong because it always goes wrong. For Antonio Brown. I mean, you cannot At any under any circumstance signed this guy. When everything we've heard from Bill O'Brien is he wants character guys, Bill O'Brien's cliche lines in every press conference. I've been out with him smart, dependable, reliable, tough football players. That's what we want. Antonio Brown is the opposite of every trade Bill O'Brien says he wants to be the biggest hypocrite. GM Bill O'Brien signs Antonio Brown. You can't do it. You just can't I don't care. Baby wants to play for nothing that sends the wrong message to the entire locker room. You traded DeAndre Hopkins. You gotta live with that. You deal with brains and cooks. You have will fuller Let's go figure it out. Yeah. Kenny Stills, Kiki cuties motivated to come back and play well in his third season. You made your bed now you gotta lie in it. Bring in Antonio Brown when there's going to be a condensed training camp. You think this guy's gonna follow social distancing guidelines? No shot Antonio Brown. We had every strip club in Houston by week three. It's called for what it is. He's the last guy the Texans need right now. That's the type of signing that alienated the entire locker room.

House Vote On Washington, DC Statehood Was Years In The Making

"Being two hundred and thirty two votes in the affirmative one hundred and eighty vote in the negative. Last Friday the House of Representatives passed legislation that would increase the number of stars on the American flag from fifty to fifty one for the first time members approved a bill that would make the capital of the United States Washington DC its own state right now. It's a federal district basically. Within a country that typically houses the national government and is directly controlled by it. The bill says that while federal buildings like the White House would still be federal property. Everything else would be part of this new state, and instead of the District of Columbia. It would be called the Washington Douglas Commonwealth named after abolitionist. Frederick Douglass in theory. It doesn't take that much to create a new state, basically the house Senate and the president. All have to be on board, but DC's history is a federal district is complicated. To explain. We have to go back to the seventeen hundreds. During the American Revolution, the Continental. Congress didn't have a permanent home. The continental capital bounced around from New York to Philly, and then as the result of a compromise between southern and northern states they met in the middle literally in seventeen. Ninety President George. Washington picked spot for the nation's capital along the Potomac River, and it was named the district of. Columbia And the founding fathers wanted the receipts they wrote into the Constitution that DC should be federal city article, one section eight clause seventeen to be exact. They said otherwise Congress in the White House could be too influenced by the state government in which it lived. Tradeoff, though was that DC? Residents lost their representatives in Congress and in the Electoral College. This wasn't something people just let slide. In fact, someone in Congress has fought for DC to become a state every year since nineteen sixty five. Remember no taxation without representation from history class. That's when Americans under British rule demanded representatives across the pond in exchange for their tax dollars in the seventeen hundreds. And you can still find that slogan on DC license plates in twenty twenty, because district residents pay federal taxes, but they don't get to elect representatives with power to represent their interests in the federal government. Instead they have a local government, but even that is still subject to federal control through something called. Rule by invoking home rule Congress can actually block any law. Local officials or residents support. Some things have changed since seventeen ninety, though in its to thirty years of taxation without representation, the D. C. Population has grown to over seven hundred thousand people that's larger than the populations of some states, including Vermont and Wyoming and thanks to the twenty-third amendment district residents now at least gets vote for president and have their vote counted. DC has three votes in the electoral college, but advocates argue three electoral votes is not enough, and they've faced opposition in large part from Republicans in Congress. That's because Washington. DC residents have voted overwhelmingly for Democratic presidential candidates, so the concern is if you make it, state dens will get more of an upper hand in Congress moving forward. Mike we said this is a fight that's come up pretty much every year for decades, but this year the fight for DC to become a state has stayed in the spotlight. That's partly because of the recent protests over racial injustice. In DC. The trump administration has sent federal officers to clear protesters from the streets. Here was DC mayor Muriel bowser on PBS last month, where the capital city were federal district where seven hundred thousand tax paying Americans and I'm the Mayor Governor County executive all at once, but because we are not a state the federal government can encroach on our atonomy. Those recent clashes between protesters and federal officers have raised more questions about whether it's fair for the federal government to have so much. Say in how the city operates. Advocates also argue that the fight for DC to become a state is a civil rights issue. The majority of the district residents are people of color which means Washington. DC is one clear example of a place in which black Americans are being denied representation. So. DC statehood passing in the house last week was historic, but to be clear. It's not likely to pass the Republican controlled Senate. And president trump is also said he opposes the idea which means this bill will probably go nowhere, but if the balance of power changes in Washington and November it could be back on the table again and other US territories buying for statehood like Puerto Rico home to more than three million Americans could also have a shot at finally becoming part of the Union. Happy for the July.

How Much Equity Should You Give To Your Partners?

"To another episode of Marketing School I'm Eric Su and I'm Neil, Patel and today we're gonNA. Talk about how much equity you should give to your partners and I. Think Neil this maybe a good way for us to start this off after we kind of talk about a little bit is to share stories. Yeah, so equity guys just to recap. What percent of the company should you be giving to potential partners and I think the high level answer to that would be depends, but I think it'd be helpful for you guys to get an idea of how Neil I have thought about this historically and how we've done things, so neil you WANNA start. Yes so I'm a big believer and basing on value if you think someone is. Doing a lot of work, carrying majority of the way, or they should get majority of a are doing very little work. She get much lower of equity if they're doing half the work and pulling hathaway fighting half value than give them fifty percent, the reason I would vary it a law and don't always look at it as you deserve the majority or you deserve, the least amount is if someone else is doing the majority of the working. They're carrying the company and you do very little, but you own a big chunk or more than half eventually they're not going to be. Happiness can create friction. And then eventually the business can end up going to zero or does not work out on the flip side. If you own majority an were, you can also think about the opposite way as well right so in essence well I've learned and I've done so many different business partnerships says it has to be equal based on the value and effort that each partner is providing, and that could be one partners, providing more money or do. Do More work or they're bringing more deals are revenue. However, you want to slice dice. Yeah, and one way I think people might be thinking. Hey, like what if I want this to be an exact science? I think it's tough to make an exact science, but if you want to do it, there actually is a way to make it a lot more mathematical. There's a website I, think it's called slicing pie so slicing it. Slicing Piedras actually a book on do and basically you actually have to record how many hours you're putting in for the year and I think at the end of the year it calculates equity you got now. That is much more mathematic, but to Neal's point. Let's say somebody joins a company and they want equi now I think it's good to entertain the conversation, but really it's basically a negotiation. You're having so okay. You want equity in the company. How much do you want? Okay? You want twenty percent. Okay? Why do you want twenty percent? Okay, how? How much work have you put in so far? How much money are you going to put in now? If it's really zero zero, starting out I'm just joining because I'm talented. That's hard to compute because if the companies are doing well, you've been doing it for five years. You put in the sweat equity and you put in the money already and this person just come in and say I want this. I think they're probably being unreasonable, but if they're being reasonable, then continued negotiation. I think you've gotTA. Make all parties. Happy on that front, so I. I think with partnerships in the past. We can just talk about our partnership here. Neil like fifty fifty right down the line, so that's true so in general. What do you do with all your partnerships? Because you have multiple partnerships, some are less than fifty fifty summer more than fifty fifty. How do view it? Yeah, so let's look at the software side of things so originally it was two co founders that this is for click flow so I starting out with sixty percent, and a he started out with forty percent of the company and the reason. Reason for that was because I was using my social capital, so I was getting people to put in money for the company secondly Ozzy Mike Capital as well third was using my social capital to get US customers at the same time, and so he thought that was more valuable, and he also wanted me to handle the recruiting financing division all that kind of stuff, and he was going to handle strictly to technical side of things, so that's how we split it that way and we agreed, and it was fair to really know fights on that front. Have you ever had business partnerships, not out and people are fighting and arguing yeah. I mean Oh single rain. Were you were a partner before two? Yeah years ago. Why didn't it work? Single Green didn't work out I guess or the Partnership Workout Right? There's many reasons why the company didn't work out, but why the partnerships not work out partial didn't work. This is my opinion. I think the level of work was not distributed. Some of the people that had equity were no longer putting in the work, and so that actually caused issues friction, because it was like I'm putting in this world and this person just kind of sitting on the size I. think there. There is kind of that going on, but at the same time the company wasn't doing that while anymore. Period because of all the algorithm updates that google was making so cash was coming in, so that led them more stress and people were just like. Forget it at this point is like the company's not really worth anything that was where I think it landed, and then there were five partners as myself a zoo and there were three other people, and that's what happened. Look, at the end of the day business partnerships are GonNa go to ups and downs, oil and a finding out is equity mainly becomes a problem when you're making money when you're not making money, no one really cares for some reason. Even when partners are all happy when money starts rolling in dozen people get greedy and picky and have issues, and that's why it's not structured fairly at the beginning, it creates issues wants money is trying to be made.

The 7 Remote Work Trends That Will Impact Your Business

"Welcome to another episode, of marketing, school I'm Eric Su and I'm Neil. Patel and today. We're GONNA. Talk about the seven remote work trends that will impact your business, so we're still in the thick of it five twenty eight. This is may twenty eighth twenty twenty, so there's there's been a lot of chatter about remote work, and we believe it's going to continue right like so eric and. And I? Believe with them opening up more more stuff were already seeing a trend of covid spreading more in resurging backup. Sadly so Moyo working is a huge trend yard seen companies like twitter. Saying you don't have to come back to work if you don't want to. Yeah, so I guess that's that's really the the first one right there. It's I think there's GonNa be a lot more. People can't twitter. People look at facebook's people saying like Oh. They're saying you don't need a comeback for the rest of the year. Whereas companies like Microsoft are kind of waiting and seeing what develops I think what's going to happen is some people are still going to have a semblance of an office because I was looking at a twitter poll the other day I I think actually heating, put it up. He jaw and couple of thousand people responded to it. Maybe it was somebody else, but it was basically saying. Saying look how many of you are would like to come back into office. How many would like to go purely remote? And how many of you want a hybrid? The vast majority of people picked that they wanted to go. Hybrid and I think hybrid is the motto of the future sure he can socially distance, and all that but I think coming to the office, maybe two or three days a week under the other days are remote i. think that's what's going to work and before turnover to uni all. The Israeli government or Israeli scientists came up with a smart model saying hey, why don't you try a four ten model meaning you come into the office four days a week virus six fourteen days to incubate so four days. You come into office the other ten days. You don't come back and then boom. You're back again like next next. Monday so I. I see that potentially being an option as well. That's. The other big trend that I see is people are moving towards different communication channels like. I know in our office. We used to have so many meetings. The amount of time people spend on meetings at one point was just so ridiculous. Start enforcing policies on how many people could be in meetings because we don't want people wasting time in meetings versus actually getting work done and when you look at this is what we found. Is that people using zoom more slack? Mormeck soft teams more, they're actually getting more efficient and people are learning how to get work done from their home. Same Time we've also found that some people aren't good at working remotely. Some people are amazing at it. Others aren't so with your business. You're going to have to figure out how to adapt and how to help people transition and teach them how to work remotely 'cause not everyone's used to. Yup and then this is number three. Number three cut into Neil's point. I would say. There is zoom fatigue or Google meet. Fatigue is very real right now so i. just mentioned like I think. The last time recorded this the week before maybe that week. I was camping out at twelve calls. They even know how it got to that point where Mike. Allen Rogers booked up, but at the very end of the day as just. It's straight up like depression and like I feel like it's Friday every time that happened so I. Actually see less zoom meetings happening so sometimes what I do now. Instead of doing zoom calls I say hey, let's just do a phone call, and then that way. You don't have to keep looking at the screen. The whole time goes. By the end of the day you're just you're the vegetable so I see I. See changes happening totally number four. Another big thing that you're going to have to start. Taking into account is hours. So what we're seeing is businesses normally would be open from eight to five or whatever the hours may be, we're seeing. People are starting to work more sporadic hours. They still may be getting the work done, but they may stay earlier. Finish later or start later and finish earlier and just be more efficient work less. Less hours in one day, but the next day they may end up working quite a bit more hours because they're also adapting to their family life with other people being in their homes, their kids or their kids having to do zoom school calls, so they had to be there for the kids and help them through that as well so I think one thing that your business has to learn how to adapt to. Is People not working eight hours consistent and working during random hours and time and as long as. As they get the work done, you shouldn't really complain much or have much base. You

"In she just text it's great great easy simple way to get involved in the show I you know Mike it's been sort of a heavy Newsday a typical for a Friday Fridays generally are pretty pretty light and fun but there's a lot of heavy stuff that we have to talk about today so why not why not talk about distractions specifically what are the things that you and I are doing to to chill out to distract ourselves from from all of this news that's that's happening yeah I mean for for me I mean that I got a I've got to be just disciplined about making my distractions actual distractions because I tend to have a lot of bleed into what we do on air those tend to be a lot of the medically lot of the podcast that I follow so I find myself at times like really looking for to listen to the podcast unlisted real has covering the same spot and not it's sometimes a better and different or more nuanced way whatever whichever way but none the less I've been you know marinating in that topic all week and then I'll try and relax the podcast relies well that didn't help and it's and it's kind of hijacked in some ways all of my other favorite podcast aren't fundamentally news podcasts This American Life like a lot of podcast that I would normally listen to our escape in have become very focused on the the pandemic in the effects of the pandemic from economic to health to social and so I've had this sort of like dig deeper in one of the ones that actually finds a nice escape although it's escape into something kind of awful is I mean awful at least in terms of you look at the actual human cost is war stories but it's is really dynamite to buy a couple of a guy named Aiden who is a military writer a guy named caused by angry staff officer was a former infantryman it is still a member of the Army National Guard and also a military writer these two do a podcast and they essentially break down major battles or skirmishes in in war history not just United States but pre United States early enough from Alexander the great power and it's fascinating because they talk about tactically how when when somebody would make a big shift in tactics how other people sort of recognizing it and it would change the in no different way than than you see disruptions in the tech community it happened in fighting as well and how technology would suddenly suddenly swinging advantage one direction to one particular group of people and then I'm more technology or tactics with swing in advance to another way and it is really great it's a really great history lesson which I dig anyway but it's also this very it's for a very specifically focused history lesson I'm not exactly a military history buff but the stories are well told these two people have a really good dynamic and I find that I completely forget everything else when I'm listening to it because it creates you like you make a very vivid picture in your head and the heart of the whole escape process is to replace the movie that's running in your head with a different right yeah yeah I've been well I I've been doing a few different things podcast is definitely one of them I I tend to I tend to really like weird comedy podcast so there's a couple like deb but man is for bonanza which is its impact I don't even know how to explain it a comedian named Andy Daly he he's an improviser as well he plays this character named Dalton Wilcox is the poet laureate of the west and he originated this character on a different show years ago right and this is sort of a spin off what kind of how mark landed on Happy Days gave him his own show this is that except that he and his his crew go through each episode of bonanza and the joke being there are I think like four hundred and thirty one or two episodes of bonanza right and it's just it's bizarre it's weird it's nonsense they they get to the show sort of toward the end but that's all about the preamble right and all that business I really like that a lot there's also one called twenty thousand hertz which I've talked about before you have it now and that's when I actually put on my list after you talked about the last time it's it's a really fantastic it's so well produced it's done by these guys who are basically sound engineers they make sounds for a living right and they tell the stories behind the world's most recognizable sounds and sometimes it's it's really deep and really informative sometimes it's weird their latest one is basically about why why do we think farts are funny when they talk about the whoopee cushion a lot it's just it's it's a trip that sounds like when I would take yeah it's it's a great show twenty thousand hertz if you spell it out right now so what else you doing other than less to say to get out of podcasts I'm playing a lot of animal crossing like apparently the rest of the world it is it's just a delight full pointless exercise and call right you know you without without even the the scandal of like sim city or anything like that right there is sort of just like as Brian as it gets totally you're the worst thing that can happen to you is you get stung by wasps and then you have to go get some medicine and take some medicine then you're fine or you get a what about murder Hornets all we'll see they're what they updated all the time how we are approaching summer you know it's it's done in real time so their seasons so there's only you can only catch certain fish a certain time of year or certain time of day or in a certain location given sort of the theme of animal crossing my guess is it's going to be maybe attempted assault Hornets it's not really good right right there is no real hazard right right it's an easy for your everyone irritation Hornets or something like that yeah it's yes it's a it's basically a game for children right now it's better but but this the sky's the limit I mean I can do you can do so much with that that's been really fun yeah for me weirdly enough like like I find great satisfaction and I don't know why because I don't than maintain the status but I find great satisfaction in organizing stuff and I'm don't know what I think would look at me is a terribly organized person although I've managed to keep a lot of balls in the air and most the time I don't drop many of them but I'd like the process of completely like emptying out everything in the dresser finding stuff that's got to go to goodwill like clearing out space because I find that if I can keep the space to put things organized I'm pretty good at putting things away I always put tools away I was raised in that sort of my dad's shop in my brother's shop you always had to put like the screw drivers back in the screwdriver tore specifically categorize like that kind of thing and so I'm good about that generally speaking but I find that when I as soon as I lose that regular place to put something I it all starts falling apart every rapidly yes I'm the same way and things go all over the place and I did actually get a good tip about where you should when you are reorganizing where you should put things in this is kind of interesting idea that you should put if you lose things and you find it find something that you've lost a tool that you need or something that you need and you looked all over and he finally find find it where you should store it is the first place you look for it that's a great idea right right pretty good idea of where it should be because that's where it should be yeah I mean like that yeah I know I thought that that was I heard that on a really interesting and a different podcast get a free economics which is my one of my favorite podcasts as a guy who's the editor wired magazine and he had these like tips for living is like thirty died of him and they were all very smart but that one sort of range would be like well of course just build it backwards yeah I know right yeah well I yeah that's wonderful now I'm also watching there's a there's a TV show on now that's in its second season third season I should know this what we do in the shadows it's the strangest most hilarious take on vampires I'm not a big vampire guy right but my god is this show funny it is the these vampires they live in Americanism it's based off of the movie of the same name what we do in the shadows that's from New Zealand and the story is of these vampires who have been living in Staten Island for centuries and they were a were originally sent here to like take over North America right they got lazy and they haven't done anything and it's it's shot of Rory's in every ancillary characters hilarious people show up for one episode a lot of times it's just it's it's I'm going all out of the park we're allowed which platforms it's on Hulu if you hang you can watch it they don't have Hulu so FX show yeah yeah that's it that's it yeah all right well runtime we're gonna have to revisit this because I can I like that I liked I liked it also gave us quite literally it's gets very matter because gave us a distraction from what we've been talking about as well just to have a talk about distraction it's true it's true more Karen I.

"Say that I you know I I don't know how many years will be left but I don't I don't so I don't see and like I said working from home certainly makes a difference I would say it's a different world being at home Mike it's completely that's a very different world and I and I have to be honest with you because I do want to be honest with you and I want to be honest with everybody listening I woke up this morning I wasn't feeling well and nowadays you wake up and you don't feel well you give it a million thoughts and know my throat was sore and had a little bit of a fever all the symptoms of everything and so out of an abundance of caution you've heard that term a live audience a boat I've been locked away from my family for the last twelve hours because you know I've been to in test I don't know if I've got any better now you know what bro I gotta tell you I actually do turning on the microphone and talking about sports with you actually do feel a little bit better doesn't mean I you know this nothing wrong with me but because I sometimes I I wanted and not that I feel I feel good I gotta say thank god I feel I feel good but sometimes I wonder you know you you know mentally yes almost ought to like you know Joe it within a medically you make yourself they think you're sick the only sold you are so right and trust me I thought about that this morning when I felt that that it's a matter of right right I see us talking to some of the heaven do you really feel like it's mental right now I I genuinely did unfortunately so I've been I've been locked away from my family for the last twelve hours basically the good news for you as far as is that is that you know really it's at least where you you know hearing what they say you're not at the risk that somebody my age or above would be at no absolutely as far as any kind of god's got to bid for talent you would be concerned no that's how will you know that I think that's been pretty well documented out there yeah but that you're a hundred percent right that's why I like in my brain I wasn't concerned about myself as much as I was concerned about my in laws that live with me and my wife so that's a part of why I've kinda caved out a location and housing right now only get it boy I'm sure every I'm sure there are a lot of people listening right now but over the last few days woke up you're not feeling great work and normally do you know me when I don't feel great okay okay take a Tylenol let's go I'm fine with you but I always ready to play with pain of course yeah like let's go but I think because of everything we've learned and know about you just have to be extra careful not only for yourself but for everybody around you yep so that means they'll be about five more classic games I'll be watching tonight because I'll be stored away by myself so all right all right I'll let everybody know what it is let's go to Jason in Montgomery which have Jason Jason how are you your order what's up yes October Salam you bro not much yeah like J. O. I. I think you you're you're now that Robby Anderson says Abbas you gotta get back I re signed and all of my other point was I I just read a report on now yes the on the Broncos released Joe Flacco so would would you actually bring Joe Flacco back up for Sam Darnold and he's a bit you know if you yeah I mean I don't know what kind of what's the money situation would be but I mean you know you certainly would be a decent guide advise your backup quarterback also the question I have and it's funny because we were talking a Joe Flacco yesterday we're trying to remind ourselves the Bronco quarterback situation drew lock obviously right well before I finally came in and the Flacco experiment in Denver didn't work but you wonder about Joe Flacco if he wants to keep going especially if his career now is as a backup quarterback is thirty five years old a lot of money got a super ball already yeah these guys won this championship we're referring to him yesterday because we're talking how Sanchez beat manning and Brady back to back on the road in the playoffs and Flacco was done that too he has that on his resume yeah but if you're Joe Flacco right now would you want to be the backup to Sam Darnold or anyone else I don't know you hit on the head the overall I mean you know he would there's not a lot of quarter but you know you got some some pretty big name guys are available starting quarterbacks in this league cam Newton in the Dalton James Winston and there's not a lot of teams looking for quarterbacks right now exactly if you think about it won't go through all teams in this league and say could they use all the names you mention James Winston Cameron and Andy Dalton Joe Flacco and by the way Joe Flacco is last on that list let's get perfectly I don't know not a Joe Flacco's last on that list I would agree with you on a percent right how many spots are really available to be a starting quarterback in this league is a back up sure why not right I mean look to answer his question yeah if Joe Flacco said I want to be a backup I'm cool with it why wouldn't I sorry no I'm not could agree more solid as well as good a backup as you could probably have to be honest with you but but what but what it comes down to is is that really something he would want to do right at this point in his career I don't know I mean Joe Flacco's thirty five years old and needs to be able to sign if you thought was a backup quarterback I mean you know you have to look at that guy knows who knows what the what how that situation is going to play itself out yeah at some point we can go through the teams that could use a quarterback I don't as a starter not as about right because I think it's a back up sure you should use a good backup sure and you don't miss a pay as your backup sure of course I know what the why not but when you go through the league is not a long list especially if you're going to believe that the charges are gonna go with Tyrod Taylor that's I thought right now that they may draft a quarterback which they probably will but for now Tyrod Taylor is going to be their starter and they're not gonna be that interested in bringing in one of those veterans we mention right we'll get to that is a show rolls on to mention Chris busy now covers the giants for giants inside will join us at three o'clock our weekly chat with Jon Heyman a little bit later on as well but I'm going Roberts here in the afternoon on this Thursday attention.

"As I understand if I do I'm in that age group where I can take some security at sixty six right and I understand if I if I'm still working my soul security benefit will be reduced right is there a way to calculate how much it's going to be reduced there are my cell is that a percentage of my yearly grocer Mike it's run it's roughly well I should pack up your right it's confusing and in fact you said a couple of things anecdotally that we're not quite accurate so let's just set the record straight social security as important as it is as wonderful as it is is extraordinarily and in my view unnecessarily complicated you pay into the system for your entire working career you reach you give an age of start to receive benefits a lot to be that simple and easy but Hey it's a government program and therefore nothing simple and easy here's what it comes down to you're allowed to begin receiving retirement benefits starting at age sixty two you don't have to wait until you're sixty five or sixty six you can start at sixty two yeah what you understand that but you'll receive less as you know and so the longer you delay the start of benefits the higher the benefit will be once you do start there's an important phrase in social security circles called F. R. A. full retirement age at your full retirement age which is roughly age sixty six for most working Americans that sixty six in a few months and so on depending on your actual birthday starting at run eight sixty six your full retirement age you get your full one hundred percent of your social security benefits if you start to benefits prior to that you get less than the full benefit if you delay you get more than the full benefit if you wait until you're seventy you'll actually get a hundred and thirty percent of your benefits so instead of getting a dollar you get a Buck thirty if you wait eight seventy so the real question is when should I start should I take it starting at sixty two even though it's less but sooner or do I wait till I'm seventy which is more but it's later part of the implication our taxes under the rules if you're still working prior to your full retirement age you will lose a lot of the income to taxes after your full retirement age that doesn't apply so it certainly makes sense for you if you don't really need the money and it sounds like you don't because you're still working that you should in fact delay which is what you've been doing so far and I would recommend you continue delaying until you do in fact quit working okay so completely stopped working and then take it then or eight seven ever comes first because after a seven day your benefit won't keep growing by delaying so you might as well take it starting at eight seventy right yeah and I printed out Michael security statement and I see what it is that sixty six and it's a percent every year up right age seventy right but I also know that if I wasn't working if I stop working at sixty six but still the lady at say one year till sixty seven to get that extra eight percent right it takes twelve I have under the mat it takes twelve and half years to break even on missing that first year of payments yes so the real question for you is how long you're going to live do you think you're going to live beyond age seventy five well that's the real crystal hold everybody wishes they had how's your health a good and what your family history how long my parents nineties mom my mom died at seventy unfortunately but my dad's ninety one is still going may I ask what was your mother's cause of death it well it was complications due to Parkinson's sepsis is but that's because it she just became invalid got it the reason I ask is that many of the illnesses that have caused people to die in the past have already been cured and many others will be cured by the time you reach those advanced ages you know heart disease respiratory illness cancers themselves and so on so if your dad's already is still alive in his nineties and you're in good health today I think you can anticipate with a reasonable degree of confidence that you're going to live well beyond seventy five or eighty years of age meaning it's worth the one year wait to get the higher benefit because in your eighties and nineties you'll be the beneficiary of a higher income thanks to the one year wait okay so just to recap then if I took it before sixty six there's heavy taxes on it but from sixty six on there are no taxes that's correct prior to sixty six about half of your benefit will be subject to taxes after your full retirement age that goes away even if I'm still working correct okay so all right well you you know I've everything I've read on this and I'd never heard or never read something that said that so once again this is just so thoroughly confusing well it isn't even all in even gets more confusing than that because of the fact that you're married did your wife work she did up until she retired many many years ago and she collecting social security benefits she is not she just turned sixty five in August so we're gonna takers next year so the question will Hearst be reduced five I'm working and she's not now but here here's the real question might it be possible that she would get a higher benefit as your spouse then based on her own work record I looked at that and where she could take a fifty percent of mine now and noted that the answer is no hers would be more than fifty percent and that's really the case that many people don't realize that spousal benefits are often higher than the worker benefits so there's an implication for spouses there's also an application depending on the age disparity between the husband and the wife doesn't sound like your racist verities all that significant yeah yeah I I look into that and you know if we were ten years apart she was ten years younger than me then it would be best that she went ahead and took it Neil up to fifty percent of mine exact no she's actually too much older than me and then there are other issues if there's a divorce which doesn't seem to apply to you other other issues if there's a way to which doesn't apply to you there are other issues if there are children under the age of sixteen are there no one dollar thirty years old so this just demonstrates the incredible complexity and why the answer when should I take social security depends on all of these factors are you still working how long do you think you're going to live are you married what's the age difference between you and your spouse how much income are you earning how much income is your spouse earning or their children under sixteen is there anybody with a disability either you or your spouse the list goes on on on the factors that affect the equation of helping us answer the question when should you start to receive social security benefits and it is not a one size fits all and that's why there's really no substitute for meeting with a financial adviser who can go through all of this in great detail for you to help make sure you're getting it right because as you know jam once you make the decision it's pretty much your reversible that's right yeah I got to get it right I live in with a forever yep yeah so I leased a week of sixty six and quite frankly the reason I'm still working is because of that reason generous for one K. plan of my work so I wanted to keep soccer as much as I can until I finally say okay that's enough and are you enjoying working yeah it's okay if you could give it up as well I could be okay therefore what we need to do is some financial planning calculations to determine do you have enough money saved between your four oh one K. and other savings and investments plus the income you'll get from social security is all of that enough to support you and your wife for as long as you and your wife are expected to live because of the answer to that is yes then there's no reason to keep working an extra year or two merely to increase the balance of the four oh one K. to produce income that is already sufficient to meet your lifestyle needs and you might as well just quit now enjoy yourselves now that is that is true so I would argue that you should meet with a financial adviser who can do some retirement planning calculations for you to test the theory how long do in fact you need to continue working you said you're going to do it for another year to win a concluding retire right now we may conclude you need to keep working on one or two more years with three or four more years okay in other words let's do the math okay that's great advice yeah I do I know this answer with the caller but there's a certain number that you you can figure out what how much you have any investments and what you can draw on it comfortably do not depleted and then you know be able to maintain your life so there's no particular name for it but the bottom line is we want to know that there's enough money in your piggy bank coupled with social security to provide you with retirement income for as long as the two of you are expected to live and we've got an office not far from Ventura California so we're happy to to help you and go through these calculations for you that's what we do is financial planners helping people realize based on where you're at based on how much money you've got how much money you're at continuing to save where that money is invested how long you're expected to live how much money you need on a monthly basis here's weighing you can retire it's either right now okay or it's never or somewhere in between not ready but great advice I really appreciate in chance to talk because this is just so confuse it is confusing all the more so for folks who have never dealt with before and yet we do it every single day and so we're pretty good at it you've dealt with it once and you're not as good as we are although you seem to have a pretty good handle on the stuff so you have that put you ahead of the curve so give us a call if we "Kill your Mike can we get it let's put a ticket in on that Mike I hear it do you hear that Mike it's driving me insane it's driving me bonkers three oh three seven one three eight two five five all right Colin will not on a let's go to a car question Linda what's going on in September I was backing might two thousand eight Lexus owners of the drive way and it suddenly accelerated and smashed into the neighbor's car across the street and bounced like a billiard ball come running it bounced back onto my lawn and hit three trees going sideways across the lawn and across the driveway miraculously I was fine I walked out of the car but the car was a rack oh my goodness what failed on the car you you you alluded to the fact that this was not you doing this now the brakes wouldn't work the steering wouldn't work it was like of a roller coaster ride at lake side only not one I wanted so what happened so I assume your insurance paid for whatever damage or what happened my insurance paid for the car damage and my neighbors car but nothing for it the landscape damage close it with my long hard and I did it I gotcha but I kept thinking how could this happen because I know what is striving to stop and steer the car is what do you think what did the people that repaired it what did they think happened now it why can't repair I would never get into this death trap again in the insurance company total they have a different car today look at it I mean did they try to figure out what happened well I kept thinking how could this happen and I remembered about thirty years ago there was this thing with all these suddenly accelerating yeah so I went online and sure enough Lexus recalled seven million all of my model car await Lexus are X. three fifty right now yes I do see that there are a few blogs are here we are describing almost identical with he was going through the steering wheel locks on the brakes don't work so what is what is Alexis say about it here's the problem no you don't even have the vehicle anymore that's the hard part you have nothing yet yeah my insurance company adjuster and Lexus has their own a jester and they have like the black box in the car in event data recorder and its proprietary software no one else can figure it out except they are engineers of course because it's their product but you can sue him and figure that out but I'm gonna go back to what I said before you don't have the car or the black box it's probably in a little break the size of it's probably been jumped already is my point out that there say they're insisting the car worked fine there's nothing wrong with this hearing nothing with the break I got to my fault Linda I understand wondering if there's a federal agency I could contact the deals with problems I'm gonna give you I'm gonna give you real advice after this break so you just hold tight okay I don't know if you're gonna like it or not actually you might like it but seriously I'm gonna give you real advice on this one is so hold tight three oh three seven one three eight two five five.

"You know if someone text your calls you they will receive a message going back saying i'm unavailable right now police guy will call you when i can or our tax you can try to take that the distraction so that you don't feel that you have to answer the tax because you're not going to know about it by that's a great tool we encourage everyone to to use that but once again mike it's gonna it's going to get back to education and you know you talked about you know most people aren't that on the road aren't drunk right so but the few that are caused the problems everybody in today's world is using their smartphone and they're using it constantly and i mentioned about all the new apps that come out more and more usage of it it's it's hard to put that down and so we have to use that tool to stop that are are what we're really doing is going out to try to educate them more and more the put it down because we will real we really want to see that kind of behavior change it is on the website and also you can go to your apps store and stuff like that downloaded from anything they could tell them not to do.

"The show and at the end of the show right there at the end of the show is usually when people call and uh and it's the busiest uh four our phone lines when joe pattern the team opened their calendars up to sit down with you and talk about your retirement so i just want to let you know that if if you do call in and you know you have to wait for a you know a couple of seconds or you are asked to leave a message just leave a message and number and we will call you right back to make sure that we take care of you soon as we can and get you uh did you what you need which is a onepage retirement income plan has right mike we're gonna really help them out in uh today if anybody calls in you know i have some extra time this afternoon's up you know if anybody calls in today i'll try myself to give me a call back within the hour so uh within hours the show will make it happen you know joe pets as we're talking about that i'm thinking to myself as someone is getting ready to retire in you talk about this all the time ukraine 'cause you see it every day adama capital you know it you have your life savings and people are a little apprehensive people are so i'm scared with what i have right now and i'm in the mid40s man i don't want to lose it but is so it was i can only imagine i empathise with that that this is what you have and it has to last you twenty to thirty plus years in retirement so mike it's a little bit like this you member when you were a young boy and you were standing on the high die for the first time skier how high that look tell ya scary that water look down below but after you jumped off he jumped bright backup out of there and he said well that was great yeah um you know people need to understand that just like a little boy jumping off to hide off it's normal in it's okay there would be something wrong with you if you.

"More of a hit that was like middle school early high school yet and we were probably still stuck in our grunge phase for a little bit of that time but okay serve you the pig favorite to pox on what would you pick i tell you what i you know i only really liked the hits of two palk but if i picked one in this is one that i would recommend to anybody because i think this this song shows his talent you know like i said i'm not big into gangsta rap but uh it sets a white woman sweat it well yeah but i like dear momma by by two back and i'll tell you why because i think i think you could listed like any style of music in still like that song like even if you didn't like rap i think you could pick up that song it'd be like our i get this i like it is that good of us all wildest throne this out there and and i think the one of the hardest things to do is take a song and remake it and make it better than their original right mmhmm at one a in a a fabulous artists of very talented artists a bruce hornsby he had the song the way this red ana to park remade that and made it into changes uh yeah i personally think that to park song is better now mike it's mahape male for that but i think he took a song to the next level and i think what he's saying is very socially relevant today as much as it was back then another song that is socially relevant probably today to is a keep your head up that's an are one that each check out if you're not familiar with his work but we'll get right back to that after this quick beer break.
