Portland sheriff disputes Trump's claim he supports president
"President trump, you have two minutes wise. Should Americans trust you over your opponent to deal with right crime bill nine, hundred and ninety four where you call them superpredators African. Americans the Super Predators and they've never forgotten that they've never forgotten. Also it's his two minutes. You did that and they call you Super Predator and I'm letting people out of jail. Now that you have treated the African American population community, you have treated the black community about as bed is anybody in this country that's president trump and Joe Biden sparring last night in Cleveland perhaps, the Congress moment of the evening when president trump was an interrupting almost everything Joe Biden said fact checkers have noted trump lied when he accused by calling black-americans superpredators. Actually. First. Lady Hillary Clinton who used that phrase in nineteen ninety four not Joe Biden still with US Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill and Kristen Clark is now joining. She's the president and Executive Director of the National Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under law, Kristen, let's begin with you start off with your reaction to what they said here we just were discussing president trump refusing to condemn white supremacists when pushed on at several times and on what he is saying here. Was a deeply disturbing moment last night in many respects. That question will you condemn white supremacy was a softball It was would have been very easy for president trump to disavow white supremacy in crystal clear terms. You think about the tragedies that the American nation has lived through in recent time the. Murder of nine peaceful. At the. Baptist. Church. In Charleston South Carolina the murderers of eleven worshippers at the tree of life synagogue in Pittsburgh the murders of over twenty people in El Paso Texas the murder of heather higher in Charlottesville. Virginia these horrendous incidents all fueled by a white supremacist violence. Are Easy for any. reasonable. Minded. American to condemn much less the leader of our country and we know that the FBI director has identified white supremacy as one of the greatest threats that we face in our nation today. So I'm deeply disturbed and. I think about how history will reflect on this moment and Yesterday. Was a dark day for our country. I think about one, thousand, nine, hundred, fifteen when Woodrow Wilson screened birth of a nation inside the White House and over a century later, that is a moment. That stands out. For for any ordinary, American as a white. House that embraced unnecessarily white supremacist rhetoric and and essentially that's what we saw yesterday. We know that the proud boys are rejoicing today we know that they have taken this moment to breathe life into their movement. They are boasting about how last night has helped to. Energize their base and help them to recruit new members, and so this is a moment that poses a real and grave threat to black and Brown people in particular in our country who are often the victims of racial violence. and. Kristen. Clark this repeated emphasis the president throughout the debate last night and obviously in statements previously about the dangers of the left and then t for and he kept referring to Portland at one point claiming completely. Complete lie that the Sheriff of Portland had just that day endorsed him. But then Mike Reese who is the sheriff of the county which Portland is immediately tweeted out I have never supported Donald Trump and never will, and yet she brazenly claims that had the support of the sheriff a Portland,

Analyzing The NY Times Trump Tax Return Story (In Depth)
"The president's taxes long concealed records show trump's chronic losses and years of tax avoidance. I'M GONNA go through this story with you in an extremely detailed way I'm going to give you an overview. Tell you what's in the article was not in the article, and then we'll go through it in a an extremely detailed ways that you can get an idea of Some lessons that you can learn and apply to your own life, and I'll talk to you about what's behind the scenes so that you can feel much more competent when discussing this or really any other kind of of article this article in the New York Times is going to read I. Guess I should say, obviously, it's GONNA re differently depending on the political back on that you come. But it's going to be read very differently based upon whether you have any knowledge or familiarity with tax code in general how taxes work in the United States how business works etc or if you don't and. For that reason, it's really fascinating to look at People's responses to this article because the responses dramatically depending on. I guess somebody's exposure to it. So I, let me give you Joshua's summary of the article begin with Lead The New York Times Obtained Donald Trump tax information extending over more than two decades revealing struggling properties vast right offs an audit battle and hundreds of millions in debt coming due in short the New York Times of tained evidently all of trump's tax returns over the last fifteen years or so including returns from the business organizations that he is involved in. They've evidently analyzed those returns and they basically wanted to make a few basic statements number one. There was no evidence of malfeasance uncovered with regard to Russia or other kinds of of basic Allegations that have been been being made the basic arguments that they that they tried to advance in this article or number one that president trump has lost lots and lots of money over the years and I think that's the probably when the authors were riding trying to say, what do we talk about? They were basically trying to say, well, let's prove that. President trump is not a very good businessman because he's lost lots of money that would be number one with regard to potential areas of misdeeds. They talk extensively about a few basic things. Number one is the use of business losses across the organization including a seventy something million dollar tax deduction that had been claimed for and filed for from A. Number of years ago, talking to that number a little in a little bit consulting fees and also deductions whether deductions are are valid or not. Now I think for the anti-trump crowd. Unfortunately, there's no smoking gun in the taxes and this is hard hard to overstate how important this story is in political terms have been many political consultants who for many years been saying well, if we could just get a hold of the tax returns, then we could prove all of these things about president. Trump's crookedness and all the things that he's done wrong and then we'll. We'll be able to make that case as a slam dunk case that does not seem to be the case or at least if that is the case, the New York Times did not choose to profile anything in this initial story as a financial planner story and I said, Yep okay. That makes sense. Yup that makes sense. No surprise there. Yup. That sense that makes sense. That's make sense. Explain all the details of how. How that is but I don't see this is not a bombshell story for a financial planner and so I think that was that's one thing that's worth pointing out most of the techniques and and things discussed here is exactly what I would understand. In fact, much of what I teach radical personal finance. When I teach tax planning, the techniques are just simply a little bit grander in scale than what a lot of people do but there's not really any fundamental difference that I can see from what president trump has. been doing over the years versus what I teach people to do to save on their taxes. So let's begin and I'm going to give you a detailed analysis and I'm doing this just. So you can think about my brain of how I read articles like this I I'm I'm not I don't have a political horse in the race. I'm not trying to make go on where the other, but it is really interesting to read an article like this and think about the challenge of writing it I'm not. I'm not an anti, New York Times Guy I'm not a Pro New York Times guy probably read and and respect newspapers much more than I do many other many other forms of of news and I think that the Arctic the authors of this of this story. Russ boot Suzanne Craig Mike MacIntyre is the story of their lives right where they've been working hard to get it just right and you see that carefulness in the writing, but we'll still analyze A. Little bit of the land is a little bit of the details along the way through as well. So we begin with a with the lead. Donald J, trump paid seven hundred and fifty dollars in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency in his first year in the White House he paid another seven hundred fifty dollars. He had paid no income taxes at all in ten of the previous fifteen years largely because he reported losing much more money than he made. As the president wages reelection campaign that polls say he is in danger of losing his finances are under stress beset by losses and hundreds of millions of dollars in debt are coming do that he has personally guaranteed also hanging over him as a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of the seventy two point nine, million dollar tax refund that he claimed and received after declaring huge losses, an adverse ruling could cost him more than one hundred, million dollars. Now in that lead, we see these these themes that I've talked about and I just I give you my reactions to what it says here most of this is designed to have a good news hook, which is true, and that's what a new newspaper should do. It's pretty amazing that somebody who is renowned and purported to be a billionaire would only pay seven hundred fifty dollars in income taxes and to the average person. Who doesn't understand taxes that will sound like a shocking reality. A shocking number

It's meant to have specific things for remand group for women with. All different diverse populations jim more general groups, and their moderated by therapists with group therapy on the therapists is present to kind of the conversation. Keep it going. got it will. We'd planned to charge a small fee to join a group on. Join whenever you want, and then code it and. We saw I. Mean Everyone's world was turned upside down and. People that struggle with alcohol. were cut off from support. Alcohol sales are up and. I said on like this. We don't make us free. We have to make this free. I knew our treatments only fun. States and I knew that this would be something really important in helpful for people. So when we launched on Monday, we launched with moderated. The therapist moderated support groups and their free. Entirely across the country, and you know my goal, initially you know in the short term is together in front of his many people as possible so the first portion of it with just you know getting information and education and resources that is available for anyone correct. which is in support kind of table, stakes for community used to be supported right, and then the second part, which is the option of? Medication is available in five states. Is that right correct, so It's it's being connected to a physician or therapist or one or the other You can be therapy without. The physician or physician without the therapy and then Yeah, that's available on five states, treatment plants. And, then the third part, which just launched is a moderated group therapy is also available in those five states, or is it available for anybody? That's nationally okay. That's why I was so excited. Nationally. So, we're able to get how to people through those groups where we don't in forty five states where we don't have treatment of you gotTa. That's why I was Kinda. It's free taken the information and kind of understands. Know where you stand, learn from others read. An answer those two questions you know. If. You're asking yourself. Do you think yet, do I think I have an issue or whatever we'd about it talk talk to people anonymous- anonymously in a safe place, and get to your answer and You know if you do that elsewhere. Great to in that I think the second thing is. Understand the options there options out there and you know. I think it's important. Everybody understands all the different options and chooses the want. That's best for them and from there. You're I think wants. Those two questions are answered. It makes it just a little bit easier kind of knowing that the information you have the information you're. You're armed with it, and it makes it easier to them. Take that next step all those bad things. I worried about happening No friends my job there so that everyone will he'd be ever judge. None of that happened. And in fact, it was the exact opposite, and if I could look the world how I do now, you know back in February two, thousand, eighteen, two plus two and a half years ago. "As a graduate or a young man or would you give today you said Mike I did okay all right never do deep knee bends and a cucumber patch I never read a lobster check you for earnings sorry never never do deep knee bends in the queue come prepared and there were a lot of your check you for only right I want to have fun and hi Mike how's it been since you've been checked for a hernia all man I'm seventy one years old at Vietnam veteran and just I don't know I can't even count the number times had been checked you know the reason I ask is every year before we could play sports in the fall every year at the end of the summer you would have to go up and get your physical or so it was called in it was at the field house and down next to the football field this was in Orangeville and they would have some doctor really said he was a doctor he'd buy disable man it like to Dutch teenage boy's **** but he would you would go in there and your quote unquote physical as was called consisted of walking in and from the moment you were within two feet of the doctor and the moment you exited was about ten seconds maybe less in you cut you walk up drop trial and he would say turn your head and cough and he would put his finger up under your **** and press and you'd call off and hit next next next now under a best case scenario if you had a hernia that cough he he might at least catch that you have a hernia so I tell you one thing you see that little boys out there running up and down the heat because back then you could have water is it will make a man out of you now we know that's how you kill a kid but back then they're having these pumps now these kids have heart attacks now they got these electric shockers and all they got all these things because kids died on football fields out in spring training but there are you there you'd be out it out in the heat and you know your parents could look with pride from the sidelines and say you know what the kid out there he's healthy enough to play football how do you know well he a hell have a hernia here now one thing my board does not have is a hernia how do you know the doctor did he did he did a test under is yeah he just he coughed and heaved he didn't notice anything okay I mean we're talking ten seconds or less it was a ten second or less check to and you don't want to be longer don't get me wrong but man if you were you were cleared his side you're not you are ready to go yeah you know I heard you that's what we're worried about yeah that was it man what is one thing no use sports it's a collision sport is very dangerous no no no way around that it's head to head combat a contact I mean it's it's it's very dangerous for a for a growing brain is developing and all that make no mistake but we're we're taking precautions we're making sure no one has a hernia think about that and everybody's like yeah yeah yeah it's physical I mean not just a bad play okay you got to be healthy enough to play and how will we know some guy who may or may not have been a doctor will touch your sat for a second okay all right you're ready go head to head on out their son no you know what goes spear some guy helmet to helmet contact and could cost him five times today and drink no water and be a man because you don't have a you know I have a hernia okay all right I'll I'll I like where we're going with this is this is good this is good bill Europe Michael yeah my dad had lots of grated Lassiter wise man he said that he got his college education in the airports were more porn one more to his eighteen year old highland he always told me are two sides to every story and every dog has his day I'll tell you why the older I have gotten the more people I have seen falsely accused the more times I have thought whoa that's a person who did it man one hundred percent that person is the one who did it and you later find out no no they weren't it was just a confluence of events that would appear to be a coincidence and they didn't do it and imagine convicting the wrong person one case or in some cases you do it's true you you really begin to get much more circumspect certain circumspect I mean it it's it's it's absolutely true absolutely true and every dog has its day that too is true and if you live long enough you you live long enough to see that happen and I always love in the movie the one that gets kicked around get their moment you know their their level of revenge I think that comes from southern Baptist background idea of vengeance sinners.

"Suck you you suck. I just draw blank. We did what more early is wrong with you. Listen Mike I can't thank you for coming on the show. I have to admit you've been very mellow. This isn't funny kickball. Mike but I do think you did a fantastic job. I think this is definitely worthy of publish for your first time. I expect you to bring the energy next time I will. I appreciate you having me. It was kind of hard to follow up. You know your mom. She had a lot of energy. She had a lot. She has been. My mom was just literally through you. Know through zoom. You're sitting here right next to me in this beautiful studio that we now have. I know you love it but this is a little different for me as I've never done. Miss it is it is it. It's a little nervous. It's kind of like an interview. You know what you want to say but when you actually get in front of an individual you kind of just start drawing blanks last question. Actually last question. I'm going to pick on you so last question. What do you think of the PODCASTS for foreign I? I wanted to be honest and I'm going to lower my voice because I want you to be honest. Honest feedback is very hard to get every person's like Oh my God. It's so great. That is awesome. But that's bullshit. I don't want that. I want your opinion as my really good friend of what the show could use. What what other topics do you have ideas? Because I'm getting tons of them and I just want to get some info from you. Well I think it's a very good start of a podcast the first four episodes I like that. You're giving out recipes especially since you gave me one of my favorite like favorite chicken recipes. an kind of learning from you know different types of pastas have being created. I would like to see this actually being expanded longer. Right Mike. We've been talking. Twenty two minutes is not long enough. Yes but the previous episodes has been Kinda short still ten and eleven my call when you were young and your I I trying to figure out sacks and all those things or even making out. Let's not get crazy. You have to take your time. You got to build up not agree but you ask me what my hours. I know me. I don't take criticism. So maybe that's why I know tells me so. Hold on. We started at like fifteen minutes and then I made it to nineteen minutes and my mom was twenty two minutes. You and I are over twenty three minutes right now. That's growth brother. It is growth and I think that as time goes on. I think that you have a lot of good topics and I want to expand on that okay. And that's what I'm saying is like I feel like it's too short like you touch bits and pieces but I think that we can expand a lot longer and I think the podcasts. Can it would help the podcast right. Well I appreciate that. That's exactly what I want. And then what in the world do I need to do to get a five star review from you? Because you're the only one that I know that have not done it. Are you ashamed of me? No I'm very just I don't like to be in the public is so I can tell you. Make a fake name Buddy. You can write whenever something Mike or you can make yourself bruce. If you WANNA kick Bruce I will. I will give you that by tomorrow morning. Yeah I'm a little letdown. I gotta be honest with you. I listened to him. I listen to you on the first. Isn't that tell you? Hey I like this and I. I laughed at Dad. And let me tell you what. I got going on real quick before we finish. I have a person that wants to have me on your podcast tomorrow. I think that's really cool. Never done that so brown. Screw that up. I don't WANNA say religious type stuff but I'm not quite sure I don't want to screw that up. And then oddly enough. It's so crazy that I've been booming in Canada. Oh Canada and I have a Canadian person that I'm going to be on her podcast way absolutely love. I'm not GonNa name at night right now. Because maybe she's not going to publish it if I screw up but I think that's going to be really good for me to continue to learn how to do this so I look forward to that and then hopefully I can learn from those in our next time we do. This together. Could be much better yet. Just like how you're learning. I'M GONNA learn listen to podcasts and see how other guests kind of the one before. I've done this Nicholas. Just not my thing I would say will listen to a few but really I just kind of like listening to reggae music or videos so well thank you so much grow. We made it over twenty five minutes. I think he killed it. Let's hope this all recorded well and I appreciate your time and until next time my friend. Let's let's keep hanging out. Okay Talk to you soon. Well I think that went well. Mike just left We listened to the segment. You guys are going to hear Three or four times. He was a little critical of himself in the beginning. I think once we had three four drinks he loved it. He felt like a star. I think he did very well I think I think he'll continue to enjoy doing this. Moving forward if I have him on the show more often. We have a lot of funny stories to share. I can't thank him enough for coming. He's a good friend. Please send me your feedback. Share kickball Mike. Some love ten items or less podcasts. At gmail.com show kickball Mike. Some love on my facebook group ten items or less podcasts or even my instagram at ten items or less podcast and Sure I get a good picture of kickball Mike Up There in front of the Mike. I took a few pitchers so I hope you guys enjoyed that. That was my first time. Doing in studio guests. I think we just scratched the surface of things that I'm going to talk about in the future and thanks for listening. Today I greatly appreciate allowed West..

"The field sunday against the giants and i bring that up because you remember quite well of course back in two thousand ten with durrell rivas in his holdout with the jets he comes into camp very light right before the season starts week two against the patriots. He hurts his hamstring. Are you concerned at all. That may be the same thing would be in the cards for zeke zeke elliott with not having that football training up until now yeah. It's a fair point. I think that's why you could see him. Maybe being you know usually libya but maybe it's as a <hes> pass protector. Maybe it's the ten or fifteen most important plays of the game so it may not be <hes> you know full at you know once you know from day one but you know if they get back. Those are their first two games provisioning game so i'm sure we'll try and get him out there and she as possible it may be a little bit like all split shifts and you look at the schedule to certainly the one that jumps out eight is that week four matchup against the new orleans saints where you would really like to have number twenty one back in the fold by then when the schedule gets a little bit more daunting i mean giants redskins dolphins the first three no disrespect but those teams certainly are not expected to be competing for that big prize at the end of the year. You look another running back here and melvin gordon who is still staying away from the chargers. The team came out over the weekend and said that we're not gonna have any substantial. Central contract talks until the season is over. I guess that now his agent can go out and shop for a new opportunity and a trade but the the tricky part of it for the chargers. Mike i would think is twofold number. One who's going to pony up and give the chargers the compensation they want and then twofold also pay melvin elven gordon a contract that he wants yeah..

"Tightening the more pressure you, put on the financial market because that is reducing financial liquidity and, this is all going to be determined in my opinion by the rate of inflation, that goes. Into the system right now it's higher than we'd. Like, to see it the CPI's already up to, two point nine. Percent we don't want to see It up there, because it's only a point away from three point nine percent which, is too high so it's all going to be I think it's all going to, be determined. By the rate of inflation Okay sounds. Like you don't feel that the trade issues are going to be that It'll be that much effect on the, I've I've already stated, a multiple times that at. The. Level we're at right now which is a tiny tiny fraction of global trade I don't see why, this would be a, big deal at this level We have very very small tariffs, today as we. Speak, on the books as a percentage of global trade very tiny percentage no I don't think that right now people are hyper about this issue. Because they know how small today's tariffs, are relative to the total pie now if that changes that could change but I speak of it as in, terms of what is on the. Books today in terms of of tariffs and, I, do appreciate the. Call let's get out to the mighty WLS Chicago Mike it's your turn Hello mike I. Am Realized I need to be in a balanced.
