"Now, is this a mix of cuisines? Because you're surrounded by pretty good cuisine. I mean there's Turkish and Russian Hungarian around you or is it distinctly Georgian? I would say the majority is Georgian, but they do have a lot of great international options, so even if you're looking to get Asian food, Turkish food, they kind of have something for everyone here. There's a really in depth amount of food options and Tbilisi. When I was in St. Petersburg, we went out for George and there's some kind of a pizza. Oh yeah, catch a boy. Catch a poor. That's it, yeah. I've described the pizza. My favorite dish is the jari and Katya pori, which is like a boat shaped pizza with some butter and egg in the middle. It looks so interesting, but it tastes delicious. You know, there's a similar pizza like that in turkey. So that's sort of from that region I think what about the local dumplings are a favorite thing also. Yeah, the king collies. So these are meat or cheese stuffed dumplings with a little bit of soup inside, so there's a certain way to eat it. You're not supposed to pick it up with a fork. You need to kind of grab it with your hands. Take a little bite. And then you kind of just drink the soup out of it and then you bite into it. So it's a little bit different than other dumplings. I felt like a real clutch when I was trying the dumplings in again with my friends in Russia. It was just a hilarious and a tasty evening going out for George and food and eating the dumplings. What are they called kinley or something? Ken Kali is yes. And I've got a friend who imports wine and I'm always tuned into wine in Italy and France and this guy is really got high standards and he was blown away by the quality of in Georgia. Yeah, I mean, they essentially are credited with finding the earliest remnants of wine in Georgia, so they essentially invented it, and they've got it figured out by this point. They've been able to make some extremely delicious wine. And if you're interested in wine, if you visit to Lisa, the wine country is only about an hour hour and a half away from Tbilisi. So you can get out to the vineyards and stop on some grapes. And it's probably not very expensive way, either. Mike's wagon skis, digital entrepreneur who advocates working from home overseas. "Hub. Would somebody rings. the doorbell. Says somebody's at the front door. Which is good. I'm not gonna miss it but it's kind of weird also says somebody just pissed picked up a package and if it knows the face in theory although it's never done this it would say lisa just piss picked up the package or a stranger just picked up the package so it's kind of it's got a in it which is interesting. The reason i mention an is some people are concerned in fact when you first set it up even says if this isn't allowed in your state don't turn it on. I think it is allowed in colorado. But i know chicago has some very strict and maine have strict laws about that kind of thing so maybe some states where you can't use the face recognition. I've also noticed is not super accurate or actually my case even though i've gone through every picture because it says we don't know who this was. Who was it well. That was michael. Who is that. That was michael's friend that was Joey joey who's so i tell them. Everybody still doesn't say joey at the front door. I wish it would. I wanted to say that. I think it's supposed to say that. Also i was up. I've been upset with the Description stuff you know. Just after after after is Nets have to have subscription. Or can you. Yes that's one advantage. Wise has not only is it sixty bucks. But you don't have to subscribe to anything. Does it work. What chips so with nath or a dedicated drive and what you don't. Mike hosts are smart. Today as show was an expert on all his are you. Yes i was gonna say. Listen to you talking about using drives and everything to back up your yours. Pretty impressive best wise. I think it's even worth the experiment There are multiple options with the wise cameras. You get free. Cloud storage with no subscription with. That's nice But many of the device. I'm trying to see if the the new doorbell has it. They almost all devices. Have an option for us d. card. I think that the doorbell might be one of the only ones. But i did have another thought for you. Those little put a little mike rusty card in there other cameras and it records locally so you don't even need to use the cloud which is really nice exactly. I wonder if it's the wind. Chill that could be causing the issue a lot if you and i know this kind of sound silly but having a little Sort of blocker around sheltered is it. Is it out in the in the cold wind. Now you know it's a colorado. It's faces east which in the morning at all blurred out. Because the stunt sometime you it might be. It's the extremes are what's and it's concerned about the battery. I can't tell you that nest or wise will be better. I don't know The nice thing about the wise is sixty bucks so it's fairly cheap to try it. They do have a buck. Ninety nine subscription they call cam plus which gives you real time alerts. "Greetings, nerds. It's Mike. Host of get the word. Don't worry, I'm a nerd too. I mean it as a term of endearment. I've always been a nerd. I guess it was just my fate. Or was it my destiny? Um. In this episode, we'll dive into both words to figure out the best word to use. In a recent session with a student of mine, I was asked the question, what is the difference between fate and destiny? I didn't have a good answer. I felt as dumb as a computer terminal with no independent processing capability. I felt as dumb as the contestants on the great trivia podcast go fact yourself. During their what's the difference round? Big thanks to Helen Hong and Jake Keith van stratten. Over at go fact yourself for plugging get the word in a recent episode. I paid them to, but either way, much appreciated. If I recall with my student, I believe I tried to track down the etymological routes of both words to give me a clue. As I tend to point out in my classes, sometimes words that seem to have overlapping meaning in English come from two disparate origins and therefore entered English at different times, allowing room for both to exist in the language. However, fate and destiny have more overlap than I'm used to. And both emerged around the same time. With both fate and destiny we have Latin roots, but they did veer a bit before entering the English lexicon. Let's get into it. According to one source, both fate and destiny popped up in the English language in the same century, the 14th century. Some evidence suggests that destiny appeared first in the middle of the century. So let's start there. Destiny is defined as the events that will necessarily happen to our particular person or thing in the future. A secondary definition from Oxford reads this way. The hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future. Semicolon, fate. So without even looking at a thesaurus, one can define the word destiny with the word fate. Destiny appears to have come from old French and before that from a Latin word that could be translated to make firm or establish to make firm to establish. So as a person in control of their own destiny or not. Is your destiny already laid out for you by a force out of your control? Must you then reach your destiny through your own actions? The examples from Oxford may or may not provide any clarity, quote, she was unable to control her own destiny and he believes in destiny. You have the choice to.

The group was growing and expanding and this is a freedom. group stands for freedom. now there's other doctors. There's some medical doctors playing holistic. But they're absolutely not holistic. They're just pitching the same words. The right words in selling products and there was one female doctor. Another really had a problem with my things. I really don't give a shit. I'd say her name. But i'm gonna i'm gonna hold back because i'm not there yet. But she had a big problem called a big meeting with the group and didn't like my pulse and then alec was trying to clean up my post like bro. Just show some discernment this this subject. Hey we're going to have to ask you to step down as a leadership role your post like what you're saying this this but we want you to keep doing the podcast and i was like wait a second so i sat on it for a couple of days and i was supposed to apologize to her by the taking offense some my post because some of them were attacking the types of doctors that are her. The md's playing the holistic. The natural has playing md's and the people that don't know who they are in the middle just swinging both sides selling it all. They don't have anything to stand on no values beliefs and they haven't healed themselves. They still think there's labels in disease and sickness. They're just like the best of everyone because he can't stand for themselves. But that's one of the things that separates you in. That actually makes you believable that you will attack that like. This is one of the things that i've said to like in my industry coaching industry. I don't like the coaching industry. I don't like i don't like the bullshit if you're not well fantastic. It ain't gonna work. So how how can these guys were supposed to be the most authentic attack you for being freedom group i got i got shadow banned and censored in freedom group a freedom group..

"Hey, listen, we've got play by play from the preseason. One back behind him. He fakes the handoff. Looking down the middle. He's going deep for Callaway, and there comes the flag, and there's a touch that anyway. Great catch by Mark West Calloway got bumped into the end zone touchdown Saints, James will be out of the shotgun, three receivers to as right. There's the snap straight back in the pocket, lofting enough left side looking for Callaway again, and I think he makes the catch. And I do believe that is a touchdown. Touchdown seats. Mike host the new play by play Voice of the Saints radio network, or so I am told that comes from our newsroom, So I apologize if it's incorrect, but that's the information. I'm not willing to to fall on that sword this early in the preseason. If it's actually wrong, someone will tell me on Twitter, a law radio if I'm completely off the mark, But what's not off the mark, who wasn't off the mark Jamis Winston nine of 10 123 yards and a couple of touchdowns, and we know when Jamie's plays well or one day Misplays in general, especially lately he's been a bundle of joy. He's beaming, and that's exactly how he was Sidelines. Dancing away after those two touchdown passes to mark was Calloway, who I think would probably cast his vote for Jamie's right now, but Jamie's himself just really enjoying being out there on the field. Got to get God all the glory like I haven't started a football game and so long, man, So I was just I was so excited to just get an opportunity to start. Lead to Pac Man. "Listeners. If you have been keeping up with the episodes near the end of last year You may have listened to episode number two hundred eighty where i interviewed coach. Nancy son and she and i had a pretty extensive conversation About a person did. I didn't name who had experienced a stroke and i was just kind of pushing her a bit to say well. How would you apply some of your coaching techniques to help people get past. Self cancelling self critical thinking. How would you apply to someone. Were they actually have had a physical injury happened to them and it's not something they can think away. I was already looking forward to actually having that unnamed person on soon after i posted the episode with coach. Nancy and so my guest today is that person. He's a former parishioner of the church. That i pastor for many decades he continues to be a friend and he is also a listener to this podcast and his name is toby so toby i want to welcome you to the podcast. Hello everybody had pastoral. Care is to call your pastor. Kent surrey oh habby you keep blowing my cover listener. First-time caller yeah. Yeah well you know. Did you ever think that you would be actually one of the guests one day. I was hoping yes but now hundreds of kind of circumstance which is very special for today. Well before we get into what happened to you. Tell our listeners. What your business was what you all about. Because you're one of the top people in your field of. What was that all about. I was ruining my mic production company. Doing visual effects and documentary film work for various corporations like entertainment and business and also nonprofit international ministries travelling to different parts of the world to document a workout. they're missionaries. Yeah that was happening near the end of this working. Part of your your life right. And and i was reading your facebook posts and you're pretty pumped you're saying if you had to do your career over again. You would love to do this. Because you're hanging out with people that were your now heroes and and getting to share their their work with the world yes. I think you're definitely one of the most influential person in that part of the journey. 'cause you even your servants seriously talk about joseph campbell and hero's journey storytelling technique. The very inspiring. So i wanna be a story town of himself by either doing social worker documents documentary work. Well you certainly excelled at that. I remember the excitement of the missionaries that were in dr congo. When you went over there with the team within pastor sharon and they'd never had anyone document with video of the work that they were doing out in the bush but also in the kinshasa in the city with the women at risk right. Yeah one of the most memorable shots that you took that. I think they were astounded. By was in you. Use your drone technique and you had the team going down that that big river in the congo and the jungle but you have to aerial view. That was amazing. That's fun yeah so you had just completed a trip. To thailand i think it was with international ministries doing similar work capturing for promotional purposes. The work of these missionaries and and they're doing a lot of social justice work. How would you feel about that well. That's very interesting. As i was in my filming to work of missionary kimbro. She ran the clinic for children with developmental diseases. Very moving to you. Yeah the provide like were down syndrome or learning disability physical therapy speech therapy and then you finish your work and you flew back home to culver city out out here right. The westside of los angeles pick up the story as it changed for you then will flew back. The next morning woke up too skinny ready to drive my son to school. I was still able to walk and drive those feeding kind of funny like little bit. Dizzy nosso weakness. When i came home. That's when it happened stroke. Yeah so when you were starting to feel funny. Did you have any thoughts. I wonder if. I'm having a stroke. Did that even enter your mind now than ever enter my mind though idea. Did you think it was maybe after effects of all this international travel. Maybe you cut a bug in thailand. Something like that. Will there a couple of little funny stories that can tell you about that. Yeah first of all the symptoms are just feel left we miss and what does that mean. "Sports leader. There's a fantasy going on Everybody Welcome back into the fantasize this podcast F this and I'm sure a lot of you after a lot of the entries in week one and the desperation and the nervousness that comes after one week of fantasy football are saying f this creative Tony Ryan, Mike host, man, How are you? Two weeks into fantasy football. Well, him and you know, fantasy football is kind of like a radio ratings. For those who aren't in radio. We're always told to never celebrate a good ratings book and never get pissed off about a bad ratings book. And I'm trying not to celebrate the fact that I just crushed Larry Krueger in the can be our league and also I'm trying to not celebrate the fact that I won in my Greek church parking lot league. As well. But in a closer match, and they got one guy like 15 points in that game. Well, this is this is funny because you bring up the letter Kruger thing, and for those who are unaware of the can be our league. The No food in the studio can be our fantasy Football League. If you're the lowest scoring team of the 12 teams in that week, you've got to make an apology Video. And send it to the rest of the league. That was that was Larry Kruger at the hands of your team, Tony. Hey, man this week, and I think you do We double his point total or come close to it. I think maybe I think I think you can. I have that you would actually the two biggest weak ones in the league. You're in first. I'm in second at sea, right? There is why people need to into this podcast up the brakes. Do you think I know? Don't get too high. Don't get too exactly turn fast Fantasy football. Do we need to dignify this podcast by playing Kruger's audio? I don't think we d'oh. Well, we should maybe drop in a little bit of a cut. I know I'm kidding. And actually, you know the part we should play. So what Kruger did for his apology Video was he had his his son. He did it as though it was a press conference about his steam after a tough loss. It was pretty funny was like, you know, Boston, Scott carted off the field in part in the third quarter there. He's not gonna be with us this weekend, so but his kid is that I have a question about your team. Your team and he says she says, Hey. Ah, You know how you feel about the performance and hey, dude, this week made me think I took it back and get it says Hey, dude, that's pretty funny. Yeah, we could drop that in. Did you take? Hey, guys, too lightly. Hey, man. Hey, man. Yeah, well,.

"Comes a time in the life of every podcast or when he has to introduce the show that he's doing and this is that moment for me. Robert hosts of behind the bastards. Podcast where we talk about terrible people. Normally this is a show where we give a detailed history of an awful person life but today we're doing something special today due to the massive outrageous clamoring popular demand. We are continuing with our investigation into true allegiance the fictional novel. Debut of one benefit. Shapiro here with me today to talk about this. This opus are Mike. Hosts Cody Johnston and Katie stole. Hello are you doing today up doing? Hello thrilled to be funny Out there in Radio Thailand. I took a more serious tact with the INTRO. Because I think it's important to really set the tone of the gravity that that this book demands from the reader. Oh Yeah we're serious people delving into a very serious book by a very serious person. You've covered a lot of serious serious bad guys in your time on the show but I don't think there's anything more serious than what we're about to embark on no no and I think that You know I've I've read a lot of about human conflict in war books by people like Kurt Vonnegut. Who would would would would experienced at Kurt. Vonnegut half to write about any of this stuff. He survived a bombing or something. Ben Shapiro is is the man that I wanna hear talk about the serious issues because I know when Ben Talks About for example the war in Afghanistan Or the crack trade in Detroit Michigan. Then he is writing from a position of deep personal understanding. What else can and authority exactly. Exact and empathy and empathy he He's had a lot of heroin experiences getting ratio online. So he has you know getting ratio online was his Afghanistan and Afghanistan was the war that he suggested. People kill children in He did that when he was eighteen. Someone let him wrote a fucking column where he said. Why do we care about civilian casualties in Afghanistan? So I'm very excited to see where this goes precocious kids. Yeah they say the wildest thing we talked I think a tiny bit about Lee Lavar who is the one of the two villains? The two villains of the of the of Ben Shapiro's book the President Who wants everybody to have a job? And and that makes the president to Nazi and then of course there's leave on Who IS The black character and also of course a crack trading gang dealer. Oh is is the president and it's not black. No no he's not no. That wasn't into sneaky guy seat with fiction. Coney you you got a separate some things you have a black president who you don't like entrust you separate him into a white president you don't like entrust and crack dealer in Detroit Yeah. The duality of man basic storytelling roles. Classic Storytelling Rules Chekhov's racism. Okay so now we hope we. I noted that Vons Chapter First Chapter opens up with Detroit was a Shithole but it was his shit hole. So you know that right away. You're coming from the perspective of somebody who understands the place he's talking about. Don't like the Detroit shades. It's going to put it out there. Don't like it now. Of course. Leon's neighborhood includes eight mile road because Shapiro Safa Movie. Eight mile and literally. The only thing he knows about Detroit is that includes eight mile road ended. Its does not have as much money as other places. Oh Oh yeah right soundtrack. I'm I'm in has memorized all the words to lose yourself. Yes yes yes it in the mirror. Yeah that's Ben Shapiro has like when he I I can imagine him getting up in the morning and lake drinking a bunch of raw eggs and like putting on like a a hoodie asleep loose hoodie and my going out to hit a boxing bags like that song starts to really pump and then he punches at once and he starts crying because he's hurt his little I I see it punching it and it swings back and hits him. You're right maybe both things happen One of the two. Yeah quote from any the stores dotting. Eight Mile Road itself formed steady depressing pattern liquor store. Auto parts store burned out. Boarded UP SHOP SALON REPEAT AD infinitum every once in a while an auto latte broke up the monotony or perhaps a music store but that was about it. Would it would open up. In one of the lease police streets in America leave on wood and of course the show is opened up. Sells crack Yeah well it tells crap that's get your. It's a barber shop. Where only filled with older black men and barbershop? You say yeah. Yeah Yeah Oh yeah. And then the back room where he sells crack. I'm just waiting for like him to like I have expected when he's like. I'm from Detroit. I live in Harlem in Compton in Detroit. Yes yes he lives in the neighborhood of Compton Detroit. Yeah Jesus Ben Okay. So there's a little line here about sincere he. On and his crew shuttled crack. Cocaine dragged gone out of style in the mid ninety s thanks to the federal. Crackdown on crack dealers. Black politicians had been the big advocates of putting crack dealers on a different footing than powder cocaine dealer at the time. Nobody wanted to deal crack anymore. But von care due to a select population so number one. That's actually just just not true. The evidence suggests that a lot of white people stop doing crack so much as that crack is really really toxic on your body and younger people watched what it did to older people to people who were older than them to their older brothers and stuff and we're like. Nah I don't want that Because that's has more of an impact. Just throw people in prison. But I don't expect them to have that take on things so I did. Yeah we're about a page and a half to the Bronx chapter when been describes how big von is at six foot three two hundred twenty pounds of shredded muscle leave on cut an imposing figure walking into other stories on the block. The immediately went quiet when he came in when he told them he'd graduated from the U. Of Him they got even quieter. This kid was brutal and smart. They knew I'm just that's excellent. That's excellent I'm I'm reminded of Weirdly the word articulate for some reason comes to. Yeah Oh boy. Here's Al Sharpton Not Al Sharpton. He's the Reverend Jim Crawford. But he's Al Sharpton Odd. Yeah Yeah. He's in. He's in Leon's barbershop to talk to him about a deal. Yeah okay so he meets with this Al Sharpton character and it's clear that like the Al Sharpton character wants to partner with him on some sort of complicated and cutting political scheme Because of course that's what all of the black leaders in America have secret connections to crack dealers in WanNa work with them on. Yeah and then we get to a really a real fun moment here so leave on in. This guy are talking. Leave on quote Shakespeare. He says there is nothing either. Good or bad but thinking makes it so and of course Out The al Sharpton standing in doesn't recognize this quote and so leave on at the educated brutal guy says it Shakespeare. It means you'll learn to trust me. And then the Al Sharpton Guy Laughs and says quoting or quoting dead Honky. You'll be useful yet. Ooh Yeah so that's day think it's good to yeah that's fun. I was just listening and nodding. That's good Ben's white so it's okay for him to write the word Honky. Yeah and I'm I'm not sure if this is bad formatting or just been is bad at writing a book but in the chapter that Vons Lebron's chapter right and what you do if you're writing a book where every chapter takes the perspective of a different character you expect. Each of those chapters will be about a different like from the perspective of that character but midway through this chapter actually right after the line quoting dead. Honky as you might be useful yet. We switched perspective without switching chapters to a completely different character of a local cop named Ricky O'Sullivan. Yeah that's cool. Yeah writing and bad formatting. Yeah yeah so he's hanging out at an abandoned Packard plant That looks like something out of mad. Max been been describes it Which is a known drug? Hang out. So that's why he's he's hanging out there as a cop and I think he's about to shoot a black kit. That's the feeling I get your. He gets a ten thirty one in progress. Sign and he rolls over had pushed. Its way through the cement.
