All-time highs. so should you ride this record. Reiner's time to take cover plus. Dd hitting the skids. Just days after going public chinese regulators. Taking aim so who is really in the driver's seat on this trade and later lordstown motors tanking. Today will bring the big headline that took nearly eleven percent out of this stock where we start off the day star spangled sign of the times before you fire up the grill this july fourth weekend. We've got some big news on the state of the american. Consumer the jobs report coming in better than expected the us at eight hundred fifty thousand new jobs and people are getting paid. More hourly wages for non-supervisory roles in leisure and hospitality industry up two point three percent huge games. Their bank america reporting credit card spending is up nineteen percent for over a two year period for the week ending june twenty six with growth in travel entertainment dining out especially strong so as we head into the long fourth of july weekend. Is it all fireworks for the great american consumer seagrass kick it off so payrolls. There's still some slack. Payrolls was still about six point. Seven million below pre pandemic. That's number one so you have slack in the labor market so we're not so worried about inflation just yet people have a job. People have job. Keep a job people who don't have a job. We're going to be coming off aid when september. i think the number is. What's the extra cheque right now. Three hundred dollars. Jumping whenever you know. Because i'm not so sure about the numbers so three hundred dollars extra on top of unemployment unemployment checks that's going to be rolling so i'm a little perplexed. Does the economy keep rolling or do we see a pull back in september. So you're questioning. I'm quasi just to put a bow on my thing cosco all-time highs nike all-time highs x. Y. discretionary you think it's time you'd think it's toppy feel like it could be a much toppy. There are some pockets of strength. But i think in september that's make or break and that's real pivotal going into urine. I like the self bow for steve. Grasso mike oh what do you think of the consumer. It feels like the consumer is still ready to spend their getting signing bonuses for new jobs because labor market is so tight. They've got the upper hand. When it comes to wages. I mean so steep was pointing out that the total payroll is lower than it was pre pandemic but wages for non-supervisory roles are higher actually month on month. I think we saw one percent month on month. That may not sound like a lot. Annualized kinds of numbers and you begin to realize what kind of a demand there is for labor right now so i actually think this is poised to continue. I mean we are at all time. Highs we did see the vix actually hit a post pandemic low today of about fourteen and a half that actually is about the mean level for the vix actually and all twenty nine thousand nine to give some perspective to how much complacency is built in now. You could argue that complacency is basically signaling that. Hey maybe it is time to look down. And i think there is some sense of but actually one of the things we do see is that when volatility starts hitting these low levels you do tend to have a relatively extended rally so i think it could actually persist possibly for another week or two but i do think it is time to start thinking about hitting the pause button at least a volatility being low at least allows you to buy protection relatively more cheaply than in other periods. Tim how are you feeling about the consumer. Into grosse pointe maybe these all-time highs were anticipatory and in terms of you know the stock market leads. And so maybe this is telling you something. Well the bond market is telling me something and so we had an we. We had a closing yield on the tenure of one forty three takes you back to march third that that that doesn't jive with the fact that the economy is booming and that there's a shortage of labor and that ultimately folks are getting paid more and it's going to trickle through to the economy and there's inflation and there isn't place and we spent a lot of time talking about it and we talk specifically and i think today's payroll number shows you where services inflation is a very big part. Peter book for talks about this. A lot of other folks that i think are are smart tuned into this. This dynamic and i think i get the feeling we're going to continue to see this. Liquidity dynamic both in the consumer's wallet that which is coming from the government and that which has come from the federal reserve continue to support those consumer trades. That are right kind of first erivatives. So it is target is costco. It is home depot. And lowe's they. They had a tough early late. May early. june have turned on a dime and are soaring to all-time highs again. Yeah lululemon even an l. brand so the discretionary spend to me is something like mike said. I don't think this ends anytime soon. And in fact the under employed and the fact that plants are closing because they don't have chips or they don't have certain parts. I mean those are things those are transitory and ultimately i think the labor in the form of wages is something we're going to continue to hear about but i'm concerned that the bond market which is usually a step or two ahead of the equity market is telling us something i hate the fact that were the lowest yield in the ten year at a time when the economy should be expanding since mid-march so sounds like you're bullish in terms of the immediate term the near term but you're cautious about a little bit out just because of what the bond market is telegraphing james. Where do you fall in this debate. Will it's no coincidence that we're looking at the six consecutive months of job recovery gains and that is the same time period since the vaccine was announced and so we've got a march towards normalization in the labor market in our economy and the pockets that were hit hardest in kobe. Obviously will show the strongest resilience and recovery but in the leisure and hospitality space. We're still two point. Four million to four million jobs below the february twenty twenty level and so we can see an acceleration of recovery in those two sectors look for opportunities there and then also at the overall labor market the labor shortage if you will from people falling off the map. In terms of seeking employment we're still three million laborers below the february twenty twenty levels and so as this country continues to kind of look at where pockets of accelerated recovery happening and look for opportunities their overall. We're still looking at a distorted data set because of the benefits that people have received in the changes in behaviors and small businesses which is obviously the biggest driver and so if we can kind of separate out stories from the industries that were hit hardest. And then those misprint of interpretation of data based on the labor force being a little bit different because of neon benefits. I think i would just hone in on know those industries that we can see recovery for investment opportunity grasso event in names like capri and some others. I'm just wondering how you view your retail holdings the consumer facing holding so capri lightened up on. I'm still long it. I'm still long a substantial amount..

"English speakers, And so they don't really, you know, really assed Probably, you know, founded by a guy named Mike Ho and he just call it my host. Smart on. You know, it makes sense at the time. Lin is on the line from Cellmark, Tennessee. Our next caller Highland. Hey, Leo, Welcome. How you doing, buddy? I'm great. How you doing? I got up this morning. That's good. It's a good start. Hey, you tell you horrible expert Now I Well, that's right. Qualifies expert, but I use them. Yeah. What about It rolled out this week, then rains, some about it about the home Internet. This is really interesting. Everybody. Every carrier offers something like this. The idea is and you know, partly they're responding to the market because people realize that their high speed Internet on their phone there lt E connection. Sometimes even the five do you connection was better than their home Internet and so a lot of people try to use it. The problem is, if you're using the Lt designed for a smartphone. It usually has some pretty severe band with caps that make it kind of unusable. They don't want you to use it for residential and they sell a much more expensive service. Verizon does is 18. He does this and now T Mobile, But team Mobil's got a little little slice because they're t Mobile. So it's 60 bucks, which is about what you'd pay for, you know, high speed Internet from a cable company. But there, But they say there's no there's no band with cap. You know, this is designed for residential use. Uh, now it's not yet available. My area. They're rolling it out, though. So a soon as it is, I'm gonna order because I do want to. I'm very curious. But the people who have had it for a while, including some tech publications, like seen it have been very impressed. But I'm really bears Ana. Putting in my information, and they're saying it's available in this area, do you? Who's your other? What do your other choices? I guess nobody but Spectrum well got 18 days. That could be it could be a bumper sticker anybody but spectrum, right? So Spectrum's a cable company is just getting ridiculous. I agree. Um That's really wipe what T mobile seizes an opportunity. They're not alone. Wireless Internet is about to take off because of Dylan must StarLink, which is satellite based on other companies. I think people have realized there's a real opportunity here. Although I gotta point out Starling is 100 Bucks a month, which is more than spectrum. I'm sure Cable will almost always be your fastest, most consistent performance because the cable company has that big fat pipe in your house. It was intended for television, but it works very well for data. But if it's too much, or you don't like the company or you don't have it available where you are. I think cellular Internet is a is the next big thing, And I think team Mobil's decided we're going to get in on an early, so take advantage of it. I see no reason not to try it. I'm sure they have. A trial period of week or two weeks. No contract. That's not I love that. And by the way, unlike some of these other guys, they don't charge you for the equipment. Right which, yeah, which is a big deal. So because that equipment can be expensive, so I would I wouldn't hesitate. I'm gonna order to soon as I can. I the last time I checked availability, the whole thing crashed. I am a team mobile customer, and it is just now rolling out. But I've talked to some people who've used it in a beta. You know the early release and they seem to really be very happy with it. Well, let's that someone like spectrum. I'm well pleased with the service, and of course it supplies. I'm using their out's going zero putting all that This is what I wouldn't do. I wouldn't cancel spectrum until you've tried the T Mobile and are satisfied with that's what I was checking with You about there. Yeah. But, you know, I do know this. I conjugate out. I've been with him so long and they're hard to deal with now. You still you could kind of threat them a little bit. How much today? How much do they charge you? Well, I've got the course I've got the pop full package. Well, that's the problem and a bundle at all together, so you can't really tell what Internet would cost you. In fact, you're gonna find that Even if you cut out Internet you may not save as much as you thought. Because these things, guys, they're basically monopolies, and they just they just take it for a ride as best they can, But I'm sure it won't. But I could go in at least get go back in a new customer and keep it in a month or so. Yeah, Whatever the trial, I would I would try it and just to make sure that you're getting you're not mixing it up with spectrum. Disconnect the spectrum before you try it just to make sure it'll work. Um I want to find out and I thought maybe you'd done you know I can't. I would have it right now. But in fact, I just checked while we're talking. I can't get still can't get its only in 30 million Households right now, But you know, T Mobile has always been very aggressive. In pricing. They've They're the ones who really forced Verizon, a TNT. Tomo restructure their pricing because they had this young upstart company that was really pushing him hard. Now, T Mobile is because of the sprint acquisition of the same size is 18 team Verizon effectively. I hope they continue to stay the young upstart pushing other the other guy's hard night and Tate there they're playing. Is that what they're told me about on it? You know, I can't do but one TV Yeah, that's no good..

"Or three years already, and they just re elected him the leader. Why? Are things going well in our country. When the Republicans controlled the Senate. I know they get judges. We could really thank Harry Reid more than anybody else for that. What is the man accomplished? Anything to secure our borders. He cuts deals with Obama that undermines our military. These boats for virtually every damn spending bill that's out there. He's in power, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which he controls, that's his fiefdom, so we comport money into states and get involved in primaries. He's the senator from Kentucky. He thinks he's the senator in charge of the whole country. His days are over. He can't communicate. He can't speak. Most of the American people don't even know who he is, and he's been around forever. You can't tell me five great accomplishments that he's made. Judges Mark judges Mark Like I said, if it wasn't for Harry Reid wouldn't be judges Mark for wasn't for Donald Trump nominating one after another winning the presidency. We wouldn't be making progress on that front. His advice is bad, his political instincts or even worse. He rules with an iron fist up there. We need no blood. We need fresh voices. We need smart people. We need statesmen. We need strategists. He's none of those things. He's power hungry. And now he works with the Democrats. Trying. Destroy Donald Trump, who many of us revere And then, he says. Hey. Hey. He's gonna make sure that we only nominate people who could win. Listen to the idiocy. The insanity listen to the arrogance of that statement. Mike Ho like McCain, like Romney. He goes to the Senate floor and talks about our president. This way. He's never going to the Senate floor and trashed row bind for sitting on his mouth throughout the summer. Not like this. He never said Kamala Harris gave aid and comfort to the riders when she spoke on Stephen Colbert, like she did in August. Unbelievable. The Senate doesn't exist for Mitch McConnell. McConnell said by telephone. He says he just needs one Senate seat to become majority leader again, though he's facing perhaps even bigger political headaches that in the tea partier, see that The Democrats. Support their base. Redistribute wealth to their base. Change laws to protect their base. One information and support from their base. The Republicans attack their base. They smear it. They degraded. Larra in North Carolina threatens his bid to retake the majority Republican huge hauling in a support Republicans who can win some of them may be people the former president likes. Some of them may not be the only thing I care about his electability. I'm not predicting the president would support people who couldn't win. But I do think electability. Not who supports Who is the critical point so under Mitch McConnell we never ever would have had Ronald Reagan. Cause I didn't think he could win. They said it over and over again. He can't win. He's too conservative. Under Mitch McConnell We never ever would have had a President Donald Trump. Under Mitch McConnell. We never would have had a president Abraham Lincoln. There's there's always played. We played really well but how many yards after catch were there that opening game against Houston anyways what Jalen Yeah Jalen put up insane numbers like he's yeah right right. I don't think I just think there's a different level of reading that keiler and Baker had and who knows look with Lincoln Riley the way everybody city the way people talk about Lincoln Riley behind the scenes. I was just like this guy. I know this sounds nuts but it's it's kind of Sabin Dabo and then if you had your third pick of anyone in college football run your organization it Lincoln would be the highest I mean he. He looks exactly like these guys that are getting jobs he he he he looks physically unimposing it looks like he could be a young kicker in the NFL and could join the ranks. Thanks of mcvay or your guy down cliff in Arizona or Las Vegas got a little shoulder on them though like you stand next to mcvay. Let me ask you this then yeah who wins who wins in a fight mortal combat style in a tournament if you put it Lincoln because we'll just we'll just throw him in the mix as an incumbent. I don't like his chances with this thing starting already. I'm sorry okay so you got Lincoln. Let's seat at Lincoln fights cliff and gets the winner of Sean and Leflore. I think Sean mops the floor with the floor wall. ooh. That was about as anti cliff is GONNA look. I'M NOT GONNA Pick Lincoln to beat anybody. Maybe killing more of Kellen. Moore's a head coach here. Oh yeah killing more. Tell Moore's got potential here. I think McVeigh mcvay seems aggressive. No mcvay is aggressive like I've seen him and he's got a little shoulder. Thing and Kinda gets India when he talks to you not a bad way. He makes a real connection with you personally lease. That's how I is it like a strong handshake guy. I mean I shook his hand. But did you remember yeah yeah. It was a good firm. He's assertive. He looks you right in the eye. He may have been a little Italy me yeah. I don't know I'm not quite sure yeah. I mean I know he's probably used to being around tons of huge guys but whatever I think I think he comes out of that field and and we got into the mayock thing not to go down. This knows title lease deal fat but we got in this thing with because mayock almost. AB If if you if you listen to the rumblings out of Oakland I was like I think may offset top five G. M. When it comes to fighting to the death I I like him over. Almost anybody like John Lynch and Joe Douglas Joe Douglas would just smother people okay Joe Douglas. It's like not even it's not even fair but we need to do. I think you're overrating mayock. I think there's there's age is there. I think you kinda fallen for the the cadence in his language a little bit. The Kano like there is that there is that piece I forget who did it at ESPN and but they did that whole thing on ballot check in my favorite part of it was one anonymous other front office guy going hey. When did he become a fucking tough guy. You're an offensive ends of Lineman at Wesleyan and you know like who who are you fighting. Who are you getting. When will you beating out evidently ever I. I don't know that I know of any any specific hand to hand combat situations but listen for me. Everything's Word of mouth and my dad at a certain time hi my believed and most kids believer dagger beat anybody up on my dad could beat up most people you chat actually could beat up yeah total bad ass and he gave Mike the bad ass stamp above approval because he knew my mom yeah because he knew Mike from when an Mike I think Mike Ho- Simona visit and I think it was yeah it was this is back when when BBC wanted my dad to play guard and I think he was so scarred from that that ego blow that he he told me that I wasn't an athletic enough to play defensive end in one in single A. Football and I had to work on guard set so that's that's how the mayock thing went down and he's and he he says mayock is a is a bad ass dude so I make in the top five because not not to name drop but I'm guessing allowed to if I was there and you're there but when you went to bed in your father I stayed up and watched episode of West Wing at Your House we were talking about he if we were talking about him growing up in Charlestown and his of of our favorite movie the town and I was like look I I'm left out of this conversation. I lived in a part of Austin Austin and I was in my twenties and like wasn't I'm not a I get overrated as a Boston guy. Even though I live there in group okay wait a minute. Steve kyw. He wanted to pull he wanted to pull you in and get some common ground on like you remember all those you know those tough places and you were kind of like listen. My Dad like you know my dad was from a rough area and my dad was a tough tough kid growing up in you know he talked about how dangerous Charlestown also wasn't when I was with the pats I was like I had one off day. I wanted to city maybe three times when I was with the pads. I drove up there one off day. You're more of an Arab row guy anyway yeah yeah yeah. I'm more of an Attleboro guy. Provo really like Provo I think that the ride I thought I was lost. I was like well. Here's the Bunker Hill Monument monument but these are all like this is the most place I've ever been and I call my dad. I'm like I'm like what the fuck happened to trust out. This isn't the place that you described. Are you full of it or he's like man. It's it's changed and everybody's getting triple value for their house. Now it's like so gentrification hit Charlestown. Okay well all that all that's accurate there but I didn't have sort of nodded. My head a lot was like yeah. No doubt no. I remember number that spot and I felt like I was just playing along because I didn't want to offend your dad all right so if your dad signs off on May Auk that gives me a way more street cred than he would have had. That's going to be the biggest thing exactly podcast broadcasting streak at. Let's not leave out yet. We're not GONNA put Bella. Check at the top of the tough guy power rankings there. What about John Doe No. I don't I think I don't think Ba Bella checks afraid to die which is dangerous. That's true and that was Kinda my Dmitrov thing I know he's smaller than a lot of guys but as cardio he's GonNa be going all day that guy. He's like a guy who counts steps every day. Absolutely Peleton sent him to bite that you can't even get no way Peleton in every room of his house which which is undoubtedly you know mid century modern decor really sharp ARP interior. He's got Peleton everywhere and maybe even like an architecture set up with a t square but it's just a hobby and it's all decide to sue ooh. Where were we what on this podcast we just want to go through all the GM's quick yeah. You got any other entries L. Way. You think you're GONNA knock out. elway was punch know elway. elway's jaw is made of like it's just calcified. Yes so good luck good luck beating on him and then you did mention because we didn't do this because 'cause we didn't mention them but John. Lynch is probably ranked number one. I'm still take listen. Total animal on the football field just because Joe Douglas List wasn't a pro. I mean he was a college player. WHO's WHO's an imposing guy. I mean he's a guy that looks like he walks around with the guy. It has a lot of money and will make people go away and another thing is Howie Roseman. Somebody asked me where where it is how he roseman men sit in this conversation. I said he sits in his office. 'cause let's not let's not rank. Howie Roseman how he's going to is my guy but he's going to be low. He's going to be low I don I. I think he'd tell you that you know him against Joe. Douglas is a bad match up. I WANNA throw less need in there though he's a he's a little bit. He's a little bit off his rocker. Oh no kidding because he's I would say he's more sinewy than he has a size guy but I see him out here all the Times paddleboard and I don't question his cardio at all. I think and I've even said this. I go. Do you think because you look like thor. There's a higher expectation that you're just going to be successful and take a chance. You're buying into thor theory. I know I think what I'm buying into his his heart. Rate doesn't deviate from like fifty beats a minute in any a dangerous situation. I just don't think he I don't think you can you can move them easily. He might get his ass kicked by Joe Douglas but he's not going to be afraid at all. I'm I'm totally cool with the Joe Douglas ranking. He actually was rich. Guy mcshea so yeah stud and and a great guy but I'm GonNa have to get the guy with money says somebody needs go away. Joe makes him go away perfect. Okay we're going to get your best plane ride home in worst plane ride home in second with Chris Long here but I from CBS CBS sports HQ this episode of the Ryen Russillo podcast Chris long is brought to you by CBS Sports Hq if you watch much football coverage TV you know it's full of a bunch of dudes yelling at each other and thrown out heartaches takes. "Well, basically, what the terrorists have shown is that is, it's affecting demand, as well as making a transfer payment in this case to that to the US government. And so if I'm the point of addressing specific agrees of tech transfer in IP issues, that's not really directly addressed by by this type of mechanism what you find. Is this really kind of creating pressure overall and wanting to kind of talk come to the table to discuss this further, which is what has been happening, but the impact on US chip makers and in the industry as a whole, there's been been broad? Right. If you think about it, the design of a new new newer innovative does the items in the summertime. Space is still been a lot. Live in the US US fear in the US while some of the basic manufacturing has has gone towards Asia. So this kind of combination of international trade is really helped over broader the overall broad market, and it's been quite affected by this whole paradigm. And Dave is are we heading towards attack code will is? It's even more dangerous than the trade frictions. This is a he'd going towards the polarization or, or building walls in the tech world and not only in this space, but also the broader technology services space in an another bits in data, pry data processing and data. Analytics all of these is not going to the right right direction. What, what you're finding is what would find is basically replication of the same, same tools, but really on, on different regional basis. And this is not a good for the guada-. Great greater good of innovation as a whole and Mike ho- some people are concerned about the additional tariffs would not only pass on the higher cost to customers. But also weaken the US investment in new technologies like artificial intelligence, like big data. So do you share with their concerns? I'm not that concerned that, that either the US or China or for that matter, other countries would have less interested in make make lower investment in to in new technologies. That's the result of the trade War, I think that there could be there could be less investment, because it's economically less sensible in the uncertainty of the, the, the, the economy of this created by the trade war. But I don't think that the, the trade or ended up itself will will will discourage investment in those areas. However, what I am concerned. About it to, to echoes, some, some, what David said, is that it may be it may be the US companies are Chinese companies are other companies around the world find that they no longer. It's no longer in their interest to adhere to generally agreed upon standards. For example, we're moving into the area, the hero, five G, and they're already, you know, some differences within countries, but in the way that it would be applied. But what will happen if, if these barriers real really do become serious and, and stop of technological trade entirely between two countries will the country's just take separate paths? And I think that this could be very have a very negative impact on your belt in the future. So what do you think is the way out? Where's the solution? I think usually lighting some of these multi national tech associations is one way, Alah, what the intent of the g twenty organization, originally was that out to do you know these places where there you can kind of area grievances, and trying to find a mutual solution to avoid this kind of booker's ation that we've been talking about here. You know, I think other solutions is is really using more academic or other when non-threatening type of organizations to push some of this greater interaction and dialogue. And I think that's actually being slowing down by some of the results of other policies. Protein powders. And they have some of some high quality protein way protein and plastic plant plant based proteins that I absolutely love. So that kind of goes ties into what we're talking about today. Yes. And we're going to talk about care of a little more later, but yes, it is good to get those vitamins in part of what we talked about in the last episode Tate was Kito flu, if you remember and I have a confession to make to you, I am smack in the middle of it. I know you are I got off track and I'm back on track. Now, you know, it happens you, you have days where you just, you want to eat something carby, and so you do and then you get back on track. But the Kito flu I am exhausted. And I have a headache all the time, and it's kind of funny because I'm the guy that super discipline, and I try not to waiver and this whole week, I am off. I'm completely off of the Kito diet and is not that I'm cheating. It's just that I had like a stomach flu and symptoms, who you had the stomach flu having like celsius. It just helps your stomach feel better. Yeah. And so that's the reason why I kind of went off to Kito diet. I will get back on the Kito diet, as of tomorrow, and then you too will be having the Kito flu. Now, I will tell you this, though, a quick way to get out of the Kito 'cause the Kito flu. When you start to Cato diet, you can get in, you can get into ketosis and have the Kito flu and that can last anywhere from a day or two to a few weeks. And one of the things that I have found that helped you get into ketosis faster is intermittent fasting and going to the gym and working out. I think those two things help you get into toasts a lot faster and make the pain go. And we're actually going to do an episode on intermittent fasting so we can talk more about that in detail. We've touched on it a little bit. And we'll and I'm sure we'll touch on it again this up. So but we do want to dedicate a specific episode to it, but yeah. And that's part of my issue is that I've been doing the intermittent fasting when great at that have not been going to the gym, or getting out and walking, like a hip been wanting to so and I'm the guy, I'm the fiend. It goes to the gym every morning at, like four o'clock in the morning, I go to gym, and then I go to the gym again at nighttime. So Mike ho- flu can be. We can get it can hit me kinda hard. But I get through it a lot faster than let's say. My co-host Sarah, whatever show off. That'd be me overachiever right here and a little bit of a freak. Yes. That's okay. Like you just find one hundred thirty pounds down. Yes. Nice. Okay. No, that's awesome. That really is an proud. I'm not diminishing your accomplishments, because that is awesome. We talked about the Kito diet last time about what it is. And we, we always get questions about what we eat. There's a lot of questions at a lot of questions about what will eat. And what can we not eat? Now, take people ask you about the Cato, flew all the time, and what is one of the main things that they ask you right off the bat about the Kito flu or about what they can eat. But what they can eat. I'm sorry. The Kito diet. Everyone ask about cheating, can they drink alcohol? Coffee is a killer. Keep people get just destroys their diet strictly on diet on, on coffee and Kramer, Creamer coffee is fine Creamer. The primary one they all try to figure out a cheat in there like, oh, I do the Kito. I'm on a day in their Mafa day, or I'm on two or three days, and then I have a cheat day. No. And that doesn't work with Kito. Not if you're trying to lose weight, and not if you're trying to get the major health benefits of that I don't kind of recommend it, I belong to a key group on Facebook, and it's the same thing. People are always asking. I'm not sure they really understand the Kito diet, because they always writing into ask hey, I love. I don't even know yogurt can I have yogurt on the keto diet? Well, have you checked the sugar in the carb contents, or hey, I love oranges, can I have warned is on the, you know, it's always something really sugary. And I'm like, I never respond because people are, you know, by the time I see it. There's already four hundred thirty comments or whatever here's, here's the back to the coffee thing. So many people use coffee as a way to start their day and you just don't drink coffins. To you. It really is. Because I am the guy, I'm gonna give you a little confession. I've had coffee once in my life, I was in college, one of my fraternity brothers made some like French mocha coffee on Mike. Oh, that's that's, that's most. Good. Let me try it. I tasted it and I was like, all right. Of tried it deuces. I'm done with that one one thing that is not true. You once tried a sip of my coffee and you were totally grossed out. See, I can't remember we were having Asti. We're having lunch together or something. And. Yeah you were like here. You know, it's been thirty years or twenty years as I tried that. I don't even remember that one. Yeah. But one of the things what is going to say about this is so many people I talk to they wanted to diet, and they're like the Kito diet doesn't work for me, and I started talking to them. And what are they have they start their day off? And they're like, I have two cups of coffee. When I start my day, and I'm like, what are you put in it, and it's like I put my my car mole. Hazel nut. Sugar doubles. What a sad order of cream and, and peppermint and it's like you, when I'm just I don't know. So I just made up a flavor guy, you should know that Cameron peppermint aren't going, but my hope is when they're done putting so much, Creamer in their coffee, there, you're supposed to have fifty carbs a day, and I have seen people put as much as one hundred fifty carbs in just their coffee. I have a cousin of mine in Ohio. When we figured up, he figured figured about one hundred and fifty carbs before he even started his day. So no way was he ever gonna get in ketosis? And he never really he, he wasn't reaching his goal until he until he finally started to cut back on the Kramer. Okay. So we've been kind of we've been kind of being silly about what not to eat. Let's let's move away. That. And actually tell people what we do eat. Because I think that's more helpful than being like no you can't eat that. Let's give him some to give them some good positive things that we can eat. Okay. So let's kind of walk through our day. Okay. And I'm going to I'm going to kind of go back on what you just said a little bit. The main vendor is a core group of things that you should stay away from. And I'm going to go down that list sugars and sugars and candy sugary drinks. You're okay with, like a diet soda, every once in a, while diet sodas, can't artificial sweeteners can sometimes take artificial say. We can't get you. Things that are white such as bread. Flour. Laissez. Give me a 'tatoes 'tatoes anything, starchy, and that also includes sweet potato fries, you can you stay away from those as well. Beat fruit. Only fruits you should be allowed to should mess with as strawberries blueberries, raspberries, you can have those. Other things other things pasta rice, bright, so many people, I can't count how many people there think they're doing Akito diet. And they're eating rice every day I was talking to a guy helped him with the Kito diet. And he wasn't having results. And he would two of his meals had rice in them. And, and that, that counts that includes Brown rice, wild rice. We're talking about. It's not just white rice, or, or you have someone that has a pasta, pasta dish because people don't realize that when they think carbs, they think of sugar, and bread, but they don't think pasta and rice, and Qinghua. Does or or even fruit like most people you fruit as good for you. It is. But if you're avoiding carbs and sugar then unfortunately, oh man, I told the other day that have a cherry tree in my backyard, and it's growing these beautiful cherries. I just moved here a few months ago and oh my gosh. I have had to tie my hands behind my back metaphorically because I want carries and I am not doing it. But warns another one that people people think of. Wheelies. They're like, oh, yeah. Yeah. That's okay. And then they're, they're eating their weight and corn. And sweep and sweet peas and, and they're getting knocked out of ketosis. So now we can talk about. I just wanted to touch on things that you should stay away from. And now let's talk about what the heck do you eat? I'm gonna leave them on that. Fascinating tidbit because it is time to take our first break of the boy, dangle that out there next. You just have to wait a few minutes before we do go to that break, though, I want to talk to you about care of them mentioned. This podcast is brought to you by care of. And if you haven't heard of care of it is a subscription service that makes it easy to get vitamins, protein, powders and more, and they're personalized just for you. So Tate ni- have both done this? We went online and took their easy. Five minute quiz Tate, how was that experience for you? I thought I thought the, the survey was actually pretty intuitive so really simple. But it kind of directed you what you need it, as far as vitamins, go to your activities in your lifestyle, which, I really liked. Right. So if you're looking for more energy, or.

So then when he says we're going somewhere, we've never been before it Singapore. And then they screamed so loud, you think cope just whipped out his junk and waved it in their face. They're just like freaking out. We're going somewhere. We've never been study hall. Get. It's like you leaving our so packed like interest in our guys were allowed like bandaids and miniskirts. Okay. I think you can handle this k-. I think you can imagine your dress shoes and your flipflops. Yeah. Giving me back then we have. No, they just skip right to Singapore. And we get to Singapore Colin's there. And this is where I was like this guy. There's nothing nothing going on. He's like a Anna Metron. He's like trying to do his camera work like his kind of walk and talk across a bridge in Singapore needs like, we're in Singapore. It feels great Singapore is amazing. It's got the lights buildings people bathrooms. I'm so ready to kick off. This jury in find love this last week in L A was super hard. I hope hyena and Hannah ama- can start getting along. My God stop saying Beijing police has however Marion eras will. And I like how they keep making him stand under sexual things like he's standing under this overeating water fountain. And then they have them all walk past a place called bang. Smart asses. I was really glad you know. I'm I don't wanna say I'm rooting for anybody because it's almost like rooting for the one that's picked to be fed to a lion. You know? Yeah. In the old Greek times like you pick your favorite, but then they get killed. So I don't wanna say picking my favorite, but my winner. One of my winners is Reese Witherspoon right girl who looks like we swither spin. And one thing one reason I think she'll be super good as a partners because she's at least honest, she see only girl who was like where Singapore. Why's everybody screaming I've never heard of that club? Columba like as far as I know that's type of math which doing so. Yeah. That was pretty funny. The girl, of course, Jimmy is like all half is closed Mamie only the very guide thing. So the girls go to dinner, and they're like cheers to funding. True, love and Singapors's. You know, that's only gonna the what if you right? I know this is one of my favorite things about the show is how they do this sort of fake like all like like, they're sort of happy for each other. Because they're all doing a lot of like talking about supporting other women like you don't support other women will, you know? Well, you're all competing for a guy. It's just odd that anybody's mad at anybody for not supporting other women, it's an odd. So to be talking like, it's an olive show to start using your feminine card. Right guard. Right. Exactly. That's my point. Nicole is like it's my freaking dream to have a Dayton Singapore, which is such a specific dream. And maybe that's why I wonder if that's the Mark in so many ways in life. I just wasn't very specific. I think that is very possible. Oh, and then is your favorite thing of the show when they when they go to a hotel and they've just scream through the hotel going. Yeah. Yes..

"You got you replace it with a new thirty year loan. It may well have a higher payment, and you have less wiggle room in your life because you've significantly reduced the equity in your home. Now, I know that a lot of people will go ahead and do the cash out refi. Anyway, but I wanna do that thing angel devil angel devil on your shoulders. I want you thinking about that. Before you proceed, we're doing that cash out refi? Should you really be doing it are you solving a problem or you actually potentially causing a bigger one? Most of the time. What looks good in the short term doesn't play. So well longer term. John joins us on the Clark Howard show. Hi, john. How you doing? Thank you, John. What's going on? Well, MasterCard card, and has this Cap'n dole hang on it. Oh, yeah. I'm very bad. So tap and go is taking over the industry because a lot of businesses that do a lot of low dollar transactions are really being hurt by the chip. Because when you you I assume have a card right now MasterCard has the chip in it. So the chip is taking so long to verify and issue in approval. That it's causing lines to slow down at retailers and restaurants. So. The solution that visa and MasterCard or bringing into the market are the cards that a lot of people have them aren't even aware. They have them John. They have the three little half circles on them. That are better together. And that's what signifies that the card can be a tap card. And so more and more places have the technology where you can just tap the card on the device, and it clears it approves and a fraction of the time. That it takes a chip card to read. So. What part of it worries. You know, tell you where it worries me, well where it gets close to a reader, and I get charged for something that was supposed to. So I don't know that that could happen. You have to. They warned me about that. When they sent the the stuff, they you know, you've got more than one card be sure he just get one of them close to the reader. So I I have never I've never heard. I assume that could happen, but I've never heard of that happening. But when you when you put you tap the card it actually has to sit there for like a second and a half, I guess and reads it and goes forward, but the solution is to have what's known as an RFID wallet. Boy. I didn't even want to say it because I was worried I was scared to get a reaction from you. So I mean that was common. So in RFID wallet keeps the signal from traveling outside your wallet. Which is the other worry is that if a criminal is using some kind of sniffer they can read the the signal, and they're able to capture your credit card number that is potentially a larger worry, then a stray charge because it wouldn't charge both cards in the scenario that they said to you and that that flyer from MasterCard that came with the card. Maybe charge a different card than the one. You wanted to be charged. But it would not double charge you at one of the terminals. So it's still a potential security risk. There is the security risk. It's it's like what's going on? If you heard the stuff with the car keys, they the ones that are the fobs that amid a signal the criminals now can use a sniffer and duplicate your key. Really? Yeah. So every one of these conveniences every technology opens up a vulnerability potentially for a criminal who wants to gain an illegal advantage or improper advantage? Possible to find a car that. Personnel. Give you a card without the tap. A lot of issuers do not issue cards with tap. And you may be able with whoever issues your MasterCard. You may be able to have that feature turned off. No, I call them. And they won't turn it off. We can't do that. Okay. That's very helpful company. Isn't it? Well, I knew when they when they bought out my company, I knew that probably have problems. Well, if you've been gobbled up into a giant Bank, the answer may be going to a credit union or a small local Bank. And then you have people instead of telling you why you can't do what you wanna do that they're making you do. You can go somewhere where they're like. Well, how can we help you today? What can we do? John for you. And John guess what? We've got another John who has a question for me. Hi, how you doing John? Fine. Thank you. John. How can I be of service to you? Well, I bumped into a process that to me if an outright abuse of data privacy related to my car and Mike ho- use. I got a letter about a month ago for my car insurance underwriters claiming choosing me that I'm driving more annually than my waited for just flat out, not true. And besides being annoying. It got my curiosity. Popularly possibly come to this false conclusion. So I was irate with my agent. And he put me in touch with the underwriting someone's Monday writing, and I found out that process every time I card the dealer there's reporting through some mechanism that they get the odometer reading. And I'm not sure what all else gets reported through. What I'll call automotive data advocate. Carfax or any of the car services will have extensive data now on every time. A vehicle has an oil change every time it goes in for any kind of maintenance or repair and the date and the dominant reading at that time. Well, I looked over the information I signed or. Didn't give a release or no that that data was being sold aggregate. Or who then in turn sold it to my car insurance company. In the car. So all this is part of what the auto insurance industry is really interested in which is going a step further. And that's the full telematics where they track every mile you drive when you're driving it. How you exceleron how you break and all that. And you probably have heard of those devices. And when I spoke to the underwriter, I attempt get me to use one of those. Those devices in data court, I said, I'm going to a different different company. I've been with these folks for twenty years and never had a claim. And when they send me a letter, and I'll read one sentence. Calculated estimate of your expect the annual mileage based on vailable information is greater than the low annual mileage threshold for the rate you're being charged. Okay. So let me let me tell you something. I want you to take your anger and use it to go. Shop other auto insurers, and the reason I want you to do it is one of the practices now in the auto insurance business with many auto insurance. I won't say all but with many of them is they now do a loyalty index score on you. And the more you show a pattern of oil tea in your general life or with them as a customer, the more. They're going to bump up your rates. So loyalty in the auto insurance business is usually punished not rewarded. And so I would if I were you I would go shop around and see if you can get for the same exact coverage if you can do better elsewhere, and you may surprise yourself that this nasty gram you got from your auto insurer may end up saving you a lot of money. Definitely do that. It's it's curious. I do put my whole book. My hope is out for review every two or three years. And fortunately, or unfortunately, the carrier that I'm with you. My whole book does come back collectively the lowest premium for all three all three sets of policies, but I'll I'll do that again. Well, first of all, I am so impressed with you. I can't stand it. 'cause I never hear from anybody. Who's this methodical is you are about and for people who don't know what that term your property and casualty insurance which is homeowners and auto principally you methodically. Shop it. On a basis like that puts you in a unique category that is very unusual and very impressive. Thanks. I thought I thought that loyalty beeping warded in this case now. No, except if you were shopping like you are, and they really are cheaper than other people. Then then it looks like you're shopping has validated. That there's a reason you're with the insure your with. But normally you will do better by shopping around. You're listening to the Clark Howard show..

"How would you look at the timing of Uber's peo-, which according to media reports according to some analysts on speculation. It is expected to land as early as next year's Q one other that's a possibility. But from what I've read on the subject, I think that they're only constraint really is to get it done sometime during the calendar year, and that many expect the lift IPO to take. I perhaps in the first or second quarter. So I I think at this moment it's really too early at what point new year, it will take place. So only a one then talk about over is a good company, and especially at a time when the US stock stock market doesn't seem to welcome Chinese listing over could be a very good option. What is your take? When professor professor powers. I think one thing I need to talk about where mansion here is over controversial work, workplace culture. Made a lot of media headlines for much of last year which forest as former CEO Travis kalanick's to step down. And with that in mind, how much appetite to do you think investors will have for after it goes public? Well, you you mentioned some of the controversies associated with over and in particular, its previous CEO, I think with regard to issues such as that. Less. There's something systemic this been identified within the company. Investors will have a fairly short memory or or short time period of concern as long as they feel that the current management is handling things. Well, and I think I would agree with done that Hooper is I think a company that sort of is going on the right track. And this is a good time for it to go to the market with its IPO with other technology stocks having taking something of a beating there should be some money available to spend companies such as Uber. So I think that when if you ask about the controversies of the past I think that unless something new comes up most analysts would not see anything systemic about which to worry unless something new comes up. So one done on do you think over has behaved much better this year compared to? Last year in terms of war. Culturing terms of those controversial issues. I think this has been heightened over but in terms of actual practice. It's also increased as cultural in the sizing cannot g that you case in and information, you know, condition between the. Two countries. So it would be a really important visit by the tiniest president. And Tom angle also further, you know, trenchant relationship with only between China and spend Maho show between the year. And chime she's you mentioned the China's belt and road initiative, and we know that Spain will sign up with about enrolled in this to even ammo you is China and Spanish companies are very keying to do saw. So how can Spain cooperates with China and the bounden road initiative? Well, you know, spend by all means fully industrialized nation expense. You know, geographically have required. Looks of advantage only the location, but also to Distin of the Spanish culture language thing. Also the economy excel. So this Lincoln of spent the bail enroll is highly important if cost been, you know, wholeheartedly. Join paling low initiative would could cleaning hunt the importance of the enroll particularly in the ending in western Europe. And on the tiniest. I think China is a in a indicating you will open the door much while the more and more widely in the future. So you create lots of opportunity for dip in Spanish, couch company thing also other people's to people's exchange. It would be good for only just international trae much also information, and also, you know, the complementarity of technology in in culture between the two nations, and you know, spend the Spanish in his language is probably just taken to the to the English in the western world, expensive important only in Europe. But also in Latin America, they are some why do perspective of the bail in initiative. You know, hold on the Spanish, speaking country would also, you know, have benefited China and spend a bit relation and Mike ho-. So how did the China Europe real way boost the trade between China, and the u in the past few years, I think that the the major or the main contribution of that particular route within the the belt and road is is complementarity. I it provides alternative to to maritime shipping and also to air air shipping, which tends to be more expensive by having a railway that goes from Spain and Europe in general through China through the western and central parts of China in Abel's products to going both directions not to have to either use the expenses of airfare or to have to travel by boat to the to to the coast of China and then trouble back inland. So there is some vicious there. Railway railways are always called into question. Because the there are issues about whether they are as fast or as cost effective as other methods of transportation. But I think in this case what we see is is certainly an opportunity and enhancement of trade with especially the central and western regions of China. And should just talking about growing concern in Europe about China's influence investment. How is Spain? Specially the new government's the PM in placings June going to handle the positioning. The concern about China's emerging as the economy superpower. Is you cycle logical? I think it depends on the understanding, you know, especially the mutual understanding between both party China have to do a much better job of, you know, given a positive Cygan on China's emergence and the Chinese the sponge in the economy thing business opportunity is beneficial for all including western Europe in western Europe. Nowadays, I mean, he has been weakening I in comparatively up the financial quite I think the United States now emerged to be the single most important superpower in the western sphere in the individual member. So you that means you have to create standards for yourself on hold yourself home. And that Faulk made that's all thing. You know? I mean, I think the last generation of people have standards for their children were like our grandparents. Hippies. And my parents really, my parents are like do whatever it is up in the back of a cop car, though, the. We're getting to the point where in the not too distant future. People are gonna look back at like nine hundred sixty eight and go. Oh, you know, this probably seemed like a good idea at the time. Some really selective pressure. Put on the whole system from here took couple decades to to work its way out. They're going to be like, oh with that kind of scene. Yeah. Helicopter out helicopter out. All right. Let's let's get into some questions him. I love double back will. I'm sorry. Okay ups, please vote. I mean, why do you assume I'm gonna vote for the person who I'm gonna vote for you to not care why vote free to vote. If Tim Kaine isn't running I'm voting. Everybody lives a lot of people out there. I think it's a masterful troll on the level of Roseanne Barr who national anthem the Hillary Clinton came out and said, I'm to be president. She did going to run again. And it's you it's such a troll. I love it. Big hillary. I know people hate me I'm gonna run anyway. She could run for fucking dogcatcher. But she's still going to do it the hubristic. She must hate her. Uber's to the person asking us to vote I'm going to do the opposite. Everyone listening to the sound of my voice if you're not impressed with a candidate or you don't like what they're about. You don't have to vote and no fucking man woman child, whatever on earth has the fucking right to make you feel away about it. I to issue voter. Issues are the freedom of speech and right to bear arms. Because everything else is fucking dependent on those two. That was the only two I care about everything else to me is negotiable. I like, I I yeah. Kids get stupid about like socialism and whatnot. I'd like to like bat them around, and that's fun. But I'm up for negotiation. Whatever those two the only things that's it. I got I got a book. My ass for prison reform too. But like, that's it those things. So I if there's not a candidate debts actively trying to protect those I don't think I need to vote. That's what I was going to say sorry at of reflex. Nazari don't care. Sorry. Not sorry. Okay. I'm not everyone listening someone out there. Trying to make you feel guilty for not voting fucking face Muslim. Now, just pushed him on the ground and walk away from some like. It's not some waking up at eleven everyday stuff. Man. You're like a ruin. It's like, well, you know, I. You know, my if my favorite spot doesn't have the sandwich. I like I got a different spas. And I'm going to be like, well, I gotta get us. It's like there's no one out there who inspires me at all. I've looked into it. I'm Mike ho- the. Oh, absolutely old. Bernie Sanders gonna run who's going to run. I hope Trump fall in lake. I. Terribly. But. Him not gonna but who who do the who's because we have to part assists, move the Democrats have. And and they haven't started anyone yet. "There aren't any the enemy because they're on the other side of what you believe it'd be so easy though. It's a filmmaker to to to land on the side of of portraying that whole world in such a vicious way knows it's a horror movie, I doubt and looked areas that story to be told as well. I mean. Davis something about just playing on us as a document that I thought guy this is gonna be tricky. Because if we really did. Get one hundred one down my shins about it. The old is great characters that probably where the foundation of that childhood fear him on usually pay running like the woman running, you know, the the the what do you call it often Jeanene, and you know. To the parents. And then then like get inside, you know, and it's like that that would make us more money. But I wonder what it resonate is. Honestly for what we want to shave. 'cause this is the movie and a time and aspect of it. But that is not question that is an opportunity starting with Garrod's experience that led to him writing the book, but led to may wanting to make the movie that's led to all this other stuff that has a chance really kinda starting compensation. I believe conversations can be had when when Sutton voices on too loud credit. Spice of empathy for everybody to have lack examination of what's going on as carrot soon. The film get yeah. Yeah. He has and I'll be with him again tonight. He and his mother are great supporters of the film. I mean, he bred almost every draft a try not to bother him with every little China. But every significant draft he was there onset. He saw. Every significant cut of the film. It was important that he had his stamp of approval. I it's an interesting thing when you make when you make a film that's based on. It's it's it's it's it's based on on someone's life because. I'm curious like when you when you is that the one person that you want to to appreciate the film more than anybody else. Is that the person that you have to get like, yeah scary. Right. I would think it'd be scary. It is pretty scary. I mean, you'll sit on want to presume to go. Hi, thanks for your book, and I'll say in a year and a half or maybe on ever see you again. I'm just gonna I'm just going to capitalize on your which which which happens. Yeah. In dall- makers and also some people say, I look with respect. I'm. I met you in place. I, but I'm moving through the forest of Hollywood hair. And I'm afraid I'm going to have to manipulate this into something very different with respect. But I believe whatever DVI Shinzo. I was Mike ho- whatever I was leaving out. For example, the book, I would always ask Garrard's approval. It was just how particular relationship given that I will sign new on a business level and on an altruistic level. Ultimately, it helped me that I didn't abandon him or he wouldn't abandon me that we would be together at the end of this. 'cause the movie wasn't going to end when we finish my it. So you know, just was the relationship that I'd stick lately felt on night to have with him in. I didn't feel I could have by the movie without his approval. So why don't we talk about the cash, you're the three leads are are all ustralian actors in playing American roles. Oh, how did that come about? And was with must've been intentional. There's a lot of things that I was feeling for American actors God, not at all. I had this set of a set of when. When I looked at GARRETT'S family photographs and Russell and Nicole staring back at me. Yeah. You saw the end of the movie you I think you had gotten pay the Russell and the dad based such resemblance to not just physically and visually banana Jedi quickly. Because the other thing was I given the pathetic point of view. I'd kinda round everybody..
