Welcome to a reduction in the value of your dollar think of it as taxation because that's what it is. And when printing doesn't fill voter demand borrow more with interest. "You should believe in math not magic. You're listening to the watchdog and Wall Street with Chris Markowski. Okay. I'm on my inbox here. Markowski chris. So and so said that they they could see a recession coming in twenty nineteen. So and so said recession could be coming in twenty twenty. You know, and I wish. I always wished a recession would start right now. What did you say? Started recession right now why not? Let's have two quarters of negative growth. What? Oh, so and so thinks that there's a recession coming in two thousand nineteen so and so thinks is a recession coming in two thousand twenty they're guessing. And so what if they're right? You want a fact that stocks actually outperform in recessions, you wanna know why? Who can guess why stocks do well varying recessions? Anticipation that you're gonna come out of one. It's it's really just that simple. It's really just that simple. That's how it works. They're going to worry about. Recession. It happens. And happens and in some respects, it's not necessarily a bad thing. I work at recessionary periods. As time where you kind of reevaluate. What you've been doing? And you say, okay, it's going to be a little bit leaner right now. So we're going to go, and we're going to take a look at what we can cut back how we can be a little bit more efficient. So we can continue to stay as profitable. As we were. When the economy was growing at a greater clip. Okay. Get to work. So what happens when you do that as a business? Pretty nice government. Did that they'd do? Whatever is if you do that as business you come out of the recession what stronger. More efficient better. I wrote a column years ago. Describing my thoughts on recessions and the explanation that I provided over ten years ago. Is that recessions are much like the lymph system of the human body? There's a reason for it yet. Get rid of the gunk you get rid of the issues. You get rid of the problems. They happen. They happen. You have periods where things slow down for whatever reason there's a disconnect something's off. When you get sick. What's what is the by product of the lymphatic system? Yeah. Plus disgusting. Gross. Right. You get rid of it. And you move on. So no, I'm not concerned about the next recession. I'm not in search of the next recession. I'm not trying to trying to time when the next recession is going to come. So I can Geico my money and go to cash. Because I can't. If people get surprised when they listen to this program. I tell people. All the things that I cannot do. That I cannot do all that hedge fund guys and all the wizard of smart guys on CNBC and schlock brokers. All we know how to we guide you into the market at the right time, and we can die out pricing. And timing is everything for us. Shut up. I hear this stuff, and I instantly revert through Michael Corleone. Where he's telling Carlo to stop insulting is you're insulting by intelligence. Here. Throwing a dart at the board, you're guessing we don't throw darts at a board at Markowski investments. We don't do that. We don't do that. We call a lot of stuff. Right. But guess what? I could be wrong. And I'm not arrogant enough. To risk by clients assets on a guess on a hunch. For example. Did we not talk about the market coming back and seeing a correction towards the end of the summer? We did. Actually got people. Even your clients must have made a fortune sold them. And you know, got out before everything by you. You're listening to the program. We don't do that. I could beat this. I could be ninety eight percent sure that the market is gonna pull back by ten percent. You think I'm going to go from eight and my clients and sell everything. Why I could be two percent. And then what? It's era Gance. I don't throw darts at a board because it can lose my clients money. What works is getting your financial plan done the right way. And investing over the long term, you're gonna make a hell of a lot more money spending time in the market then trying to time it. Watchdog on Wall Street dot com watchdog, I Wall Street dot com. New x seven SUV. Mazda twenty twenty twenty twenty one as going to be opening up here in the United States cars are being made. There are always going to be made America is a great place to manufacture stuff to make stuff. Why do you think all these foreign car manufacturers are making things here? We talked about Germany and their high energy costs and how expensive it is to run a plant over there versus over here. Stay out of the free market. I want to explain something to everyone again. This may sound born too many people. Failures. Okay. You know when businesses fail. When businesses fail. It's good for our economy. Yeah. When businesses fail. It's good for our economy. It's good for we the consumer. It is. Why while other companies will learn from their mistakes? Other companies will learn from their mistakes, and they'll go out and they'll do better. Think about it in terms of restaurants. This is an analogy is put forth by nNcholas seem to lead. Imagine. If restaurants weren't allowed to fail. How crappy would restaurants be in the United States. It would be disgusting Soviet style restaurants with awful food and awful service. The restaurant business is a difficult business where it is very easy to fail little margin for error. That's why you'd better do a damn good job. And you better keep your clientele, and you better make people happy or you're going to go under. Is that isn't that good for us as consumers, isn't that? Great for the overall economy. Yes. It is. You think about the heyday of car manufacturers here in the United States when there were a lot more than Ford and General Motors and dodge, they were competing against one another some something. You cannot step into the free market. Let me ask you just of people argue about this all the time. Is it a is it an American car if it's made here? Let me ask you a question. If you're buying a car, you're buying a BMW made with American hands and an American plant paying American taxes. Is it a German cars in an American car? You tell me. Anyway. "Little abba. Actually releasing. Mama Mia ten ten year anniversary of the movement or releasing it? Rocky for a problem with Ericsson midnight. Like they used to back when I was younger anyway. Welcome back to the watchdog on Wall Street show. Okay. Let's let's talk a little bit about this other thing that I'm seeing Popoff in the news all the time now recession we. Chechen bra bond stir on what's it mean? What's it mean? Yeah. It was a kid told this story before the program. Your moms out there. My moms out there now. Me listening to the program had a mom who used some sort of inanimate object make believe monster as leverage to scare. Scare you into submission. Sometimes, you know, Santa Claus. Couldn't always do the trick, you know, the naughty list. And all that good stuff. My mother had this make believe monster. That's used as leverage it was called. I'm not kidding. The much better. The much girl was the name of this horrible monster. The media has their own the business press out there. The talking heads have their own little much. It's called recession. Any idea? What a recession is. Out there you hear all the time. They never really tell you what it is. Out business cycles are made up of periods of economic expansion and recessions. When the economy is contracting. Okay. That is a recession the recession monster judge is the business cycle. It's got a nominating committee. Eighty seven year old national bureau of economic research. It is a nonprofit group based in Cambridge. There's what six hundred or the recession hunters. And they define a recession as a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy lasting more than a few months. That's visible in nature. I'm not kidding such as gross domestic product employment. Incomes and industrial production. Basically, you're looking at two quarters of negative GDP growth, that's pretty much how they define a recession. Now, I've I've compared this before I've used Leonard nimoy and his great nineteen seventies program and search up. Remember in search of great show? In search of the recession monster could see new. How many people love that show back in the seventies? I used to look forward to that. It was on Sunday nights in the one thousand nine hundred seventy s it'd be like in search of the Loch Ness, monster Bigfoot space aliens. What else did they have all like Milia Earhart? It was all these really cool little show. Leonard nimoy was it was a good show. Leonard should I did want in search of recession. There have been what thirty three recessions since eighteen fifty four. I think I got that number right? And they last an average of seventeen months. Since nineteen forty five. That recession monster Bigfoot has become more and more elusive. Sightings of the recession monitor they've been much much shorter. And they've been milder, right? Remember we had the nineteen ninety ninety one downturn. The two thousand one downturn was eight months, of course, we had the great recession. Right. Again. Every single time that recession monster rears, its ugly head. It manages to go away. This to go away. So I have a different way of taking a look and understanding what recessions actually are. And what they mean? And how you go about utilizing recessions as a benefit. Doc little bit about that. When we get back watchdog on Wall Street dot com watchdog on Wall Street dot com. Our newsletter. Household patients with our certified financial planners. Don't go anywhere. We back. Mike Hewitt here Republican and democratic voters are energized like two years ago. The media tells us this midterm is historic is that because the media is treating it as if it is a presidential election. I'm fifty seven and can't remember a time with such angst. But who drives that narrative, and why is it all about President, Trump Justice cavenaugh resistance, and that could it be that we the people have been so divided by selective news when I talk to friends on the left they described current events from the perspective of their news choice. Seek news from across the political spectrum the differences telling but wait what's the left to do if they fail? What's the right to do if the left wins? The talking heads seemed to have a gender me to minors a future of my family. Then again, I stand for the flag of Neil for the cross. I went on the also they'd fun of the the gold commercials to that we make fun of here on the program as well. But anyway. We're here to help with that stuff. Speaking of retirement. Retirement. I said a lot of people are that's a new word on retire. Right. On retiring? I think that if people are going to unretire. You don't wanna unretire unretire because a bunny because you have to you want to unretire because you want to. Because you come to the realization. Yeah. I love getting bored. I'm getting bored here. And I'm worried that my my noggin might need a little bit of exercise, and I want to get back to work. You don't want to be forced into doing something? The last thing the world you wanna do? Again. I know we've spoken a lot about this over the past several months a lot when it comes to financial planning and understanding it and like I said here I've got to come up with something else. How do you like the word planning that much? I don't. Financial preparing. I don't know. How does that sound prepping? It's almost like you're thinking about it's almost like you're going to the gym. Right. You're going to the gym preparing if you're an athlete you're preparing to get ready for a football game or you're you're working hard. You do all these things to make yourself ready? Brandy thing. I guess football coaches they've put together their game plan before the game. But what happens if the other team? You better be able to adjust. You better be able to adjust to it that's dealing with the terrain. Healing. What's laid out in front of you. Conventional American life goes pretty simply from going kid going to school getting a career adding a family, then retiring. Out again. All that sounds great to me. I just I don't think I'll ever retire. That's not a milestone that I think I'll ever decide to partake. I may change my mind though. Who knows I don't this is why I am preparing for my future.
