Donald Trump officially pleads not guilty in the Georgia election version case. As correspondent Mike Hempen reports, the 19 defendants who will stand trial, the former president included, are sparring with state prosecutors over when the trial might start and whether it will be a state or federal court. Former President Trump entered the not guilty plea Thursday morning. Trump and 18 others are accused of illegally trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. By pleading not guilty, Trump won't have to show up for the arraignment hearings set for next week. Several other people charged in the 41 count indictment already have waived arraignment saving them a trip to the Atlanta courthouse. The case and the logistics of bringing it to trial are likely to be complicated. Legal maneuvering by several of charged those already has started. I'm Mike Hempen. "The Republican controlled Texas legislature has approved a bill that would abolish the position of elections administrator and Harris county, which includes Houston, only months before that city chooses a new mayor. The bill headed to Republican governor Greg Abbott would return elections oversight in Harris county to the tax assessor and county clerk. Both of which are elected offices currently held by Democrats. Harris county is a democratic stronghold, with more than 2 million voters. The proposed changes come after last year's elections in which local officials have acknowledged problems that included paper ballot shortages and delayed poll openings. "The answer is honest answer is no. The White House not budging, saying it will not negotiate on the debt ceiling. This should be no negotiations. They need to do this They need to do this. Again, because it is a constitutional responsibility that they have in Congress. Press secretary karine Jean Pierre laid out what she interpreted as Republican priorities with the bill. They want to increase costs for hardworking families, take food assistance and healthcare away from millions of Americans and increase the debt when combined with House Republicans proposal for tax giveaways skewed for the super rich special interests and profitable companies. It's not clear yet if McCarthy will have enough Republican support to get the bill passed, it's a narrow majority for the GOP so he can't afford to lose much support from his colleagues. If it does get through, the bill is expected to hit a roadblock in the Senate. I'm Clayton Neville. It's 9 after the Supreme Court has temporarily extended access to the abortion pill as correspondent Shelley Adler reports. The former House speaker Nancy Pelosi, who's been mostly quiet since leaving the Democrat leadership after her party lost control to Republicans last year, is not staying silent about what she sees as judges replacing science. I'm rarely surprised. But that the members of the Supreme Court should think that their knowledge and their judgment, which is not scientific, should replace or displace that of the scientists at the FDA. The Supreme Court is leaving women's access to an abortion pill, untouched until at least Friday. That gives the justices more time to consider whether to allow restrictions on their press don't to take effect. If the court should decide that it has superior scientific knowledge without any benefit of research or trials and the rest, we have real problem in our country. The court is dealing with the new abortion controversy less than a year after its conservative majority overturned roe versus wade and allowed more than a dozen states to effectively ban abortion outright. At stake now is whether to allow restrictions on the pill to take effect while a legal challenge to the medications FDA approval continues. In an order signed by justice Alito the court indicated it will act by Friday night. I'm surely antler.
