"Has overtaken you now, huh? So he's the new cat in town, I guess now. But no, I just wanted to call in, I thought that what I had went ahead had heard previously and just wanted to congratulate kit, cat daddy. He is one of the stronger colors now. And he does get a lot of fan support and I am pulling for mister cat daddy. And mister Amiens, sir, thank you, lost it. And. There is one thing that I wish I mean would explain to all of us benefits next time he does call in. He keeps referring to us being a fan as our us beamers. And I would like a true definition of what he think bam or fan he is. I did give him a barner definition in the auburn fan that straddles the finance and pulls more for Alabama than he does auburn. But next time mister mister army and coliseum was probably will be soon and last for him to give us Alabama fans what he thinks a true bammer fan is. Thank you, Paul. Have a great afternoon. You take care of yourself. Jackson is up next in Georgia. Hello, Jackson. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. So today I'd like to talk to you more on the book about gross players and the numbers they own more like clarification on three numbers in particular 6 34 and 44 in your opinions on them. We'll help us out here. So in your mind, who would be number one for the number 44? Hank Aaron was 44, wasn't he? Yes, sir. Then he would be my choice. Thank you very much. Jason is in Kentucky. A hello Jason. Afternoon, Paul, how you doing? We're doing well. Thank you. I just got a quick hypothetical for you. I'm a huge Kentucky ducky football fan. Just really tired of seeing all these so called analysts drop in global web standard draft boards and just one last year question if you were to switch Bryce young or CJ straddle, put them on Kentucky's roster, but will wear us on Ohio states and Alabama's roster. How do you think I would turn out? I'll hang out and let you listen to you. Yeah, it's a good question. I think in Alabama's case, I think they would have lost maybe one more game with will Lubbock's maybe two. I don't think he's in Bryce young's league. I think he's very good. But I don't think he's at the highest level, which I do believe Stroud and Bryce young are. We'll take a break. Plenty of time for you to get in here at 855-242-7285. We are officially out of time for this program. We appreciate all of you for being a part of it. Some really interesting guests today will see you right here tomorrow. "They had a lot of lawsuits coming against Catholic priests about pedophiles and stuff. I think there's rumor went around that I don't think he was going to make people, but they kept him loose and they I got totally lost enough conversation and for that I am grateful. We will take a break. More to come. Right after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. We have an update from the caller bracket and things are happening and this could be another upset. Just two hours to go and cat daddy and assuming he finished, listen, it's not over yet. So I don't want to sound like everybody else in my industry. But this would go down as one of the most stunning upsets in the long and storied two year history of the caller bracket. Let's go to Matt next in San Antonio. Hello Matt. But I'm excited to show that. I've been busy organic acidic. I'm sorry about that. But it's a little better now. I want to talk about the Tennessee situation. For those cases the wrong way, but Tennessee made the bed nest align it. I'm not saying during first a terrible coach, but he made some mistakes. Now it's costing Tennessee's same things. I mean, they can't clearly see. But you and I both know, it's still very very corrupt. As a sorry for them, I don't see the size for Jeremy fort. He knew what he was doing that he had to pay the price. Now I want to talk to you about 1500 this year in football. Paul, I understand how people think we're going to do terrible this year. We are not the expectations in SEC. We are able for disappointing team. I don't think that's going to be the case this year. Hopefully, we can see the share of the article you're not going to irritable. And Paul, you know, some two south, the question is, why should we go to state Texas? Saw their Oklahoma and I need some advice on your butter. I want to do it you do for living, but this is conflict in me. I want to change the world negative better place. I don't mind dying for either kind of like doctor king. I don't believe in hate and I want to end the wars. I know that sounds like naive with this conflict in other words your advice, man. Well, I think you have some noble goals there, but ultimately you have to take care of yourself first and the people around you before I think you can end wars and change the world. But thank you for the question. Never had one quite like that before. Chris is up next. Hello, Chris. Go right ahead. Hey, mister fine bomb. How are you doing, sir? We are doing well. Thank you. Thank you, sir. Mister ami and called in a little bit early today kind of caught me off guard there. I say that you said that he's falling in he's following in your bracket. Who is he up against in the color bracket right now? Can you tell me? He lost two cat daddy. Right now we're down to the finals. The last men standing. Wow. So, mister Amy and their listening to cat

"Listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. And welcome back here. I hope you enjoyed the conversation with greeny. I did. And we will get back to we will get back to your phone calls, actually start your phone calls right now. And let's begin with Brent, who is in Texas, a hello Brent. Paul, how you doing? We're doing great. Thank you. Right. I know that this book has got to be a comic book because this greeny book because Michael Phelps is Serena and Michael Jordan, while all agree, if it doesn't have GM in it, it's got to be a comical book. Yeah, I think you're right about that. The only worthwhile books ever written has a particular person on page 54. Thank you very, very much for the call, which continue. And Christian is up next. A hello Christian. Mister fine bob, how are you doing today? We are doing well. Thank you. Yes, sir. I hope you don't mind me thanking a couple of minutes. It's kind of a two part question. But the first one has to do with my sports journalism career. So which is going pretty well. I've mentioned I have a YouTube channel. In addition to that, I have a blog when it comes to writing articles. How do you come up with material or write something similar to what someone else is written without trying to plagiarize or take from them? And then also, I would ask you this, do you have a favorite person or interview in your career that has stood out that you look back on and say that it made you and helped you get to where you are today? Thank you. Well, thank you, Christian. I will offer this to any writer and what we're talking about here more is writing opinion and reporting is very straightforward. You gather the information, you gather it as completely as possible. You disseminate the facts and you try to present it fairly. As a newspaper columnist, which I did for many years, the single most difficult. The only difficult part for me was the idea. I would not start I just didn't sit down at a computer and start typing. You have to know what you're doing. This is not a free association. So you work on the idea. However you find it, sometimes it's through reporting, sometimes it through observing, and then once you get the idea, you try to put it in a straightforward manner. Thank you very, very much for the call. Appreciate it. Logan is up next in North Carolina. Hello, Logan. Hi, Paul. What a glorious day, Jim's hero Trump just got an arrested and indicted for 32 counts of felony, I think. So started out really good today. I want to talk a little bit about Jeremy Pruitt, if that's okay. I had heard earlier today that he has a hearing coming up or something before the NCAA is finally going to hear his case in about three weeks. Okay, so is this going to be, is this like a show clause thing or is this something where he could be permanently banned from coaching? We don't know the answer. We'll talk dallinger will be with us later and he'll have some more information, but yet this is the this is the big deal here. This is when we're going to find out Jeremy Pruitt can coach again anytime soon. And the early indicators are not great because Nick Saban would not even hire him. We don't think as an analyst. So he has to get over this hurdle and assuming he does. And I know some people on the Tennessee side are concerned about the NCAA in spite of everything that we know. We'll finally find out. His side has done a lot of posturing as sides always do. So this is going to be when it all comes together. And then just because you have a hearing, it still may be some time after that that the case is processed. And it's also true, right, that he's got a lawsuit against Tennessee where he's trying to get the money that they supposedly owe him. That would be a completely shepherd issue. I mean, that's a financial lawsuit where it would not involve this case at all. I don't think. It wouldn't. But this probably wouldn't help him if he was to get banned. I'm sure that wouldn't help his case, but anyway, so that granny book did Jim make any of those records. I didn't catch the whole interview. Yeah, he had one, I think. Greeny didn't tell us on the era, but I think 27, that's the number of home runs Jim had in one game. In 73 is his age. So we know that now after yesterday, I think he probably has that number logged in for Jim for his age, but Paul, thanks for doing everything and I'm loving the bracket, Kat diddy and legend. That's going to be an awesome awesome battle. Cat daddy does not like legend. I mean, this is not a, this is not a friendly, you know, you see in soccer sometimes they say, you know, the U.S. and Costa Rica it's a friendly. This is not a friendly cat daddy does not like legend at all. So that's a big deal. We'll have more on the bracket a little bit later on. Will is in North Carolina. Hello, will. Hey, Paul. Thanks for taking my phone call. Thank you. Yesterday. And I was going to see what you, your thoughts on what steps and then it told the cops when he was arrested. Thank you. Yeah, it came out today. I think it was TMZ had the video. He talked about his reputation being ruined or something. I didn't read much about it because I really I'm not really that interested in what stetson Bennett said to policemen in Dallas, but I do know his career is looking a little bit shaky right now for the NFL. I think that's what he told the Dallas police department to while I was in the back of the cop color. Come across as really entitled or whatever, but I'm not going to I would agree with you. Listen, I'm very fortunate that I've never been arrested for DUI. But it could have been. But I haven't been. So I don't know what I would say. But I probably wouldn't be chastising the police in relation to ruining my NFL prospects. We'll take a short break. We have much more to come right after this. You are listening

"Hour one podcast. And welcome to another day it is Tuesday and thank you for being here. The national championship wrapped up in men's. We've talked plenty about the women. There may be a White House in the offing for the LSU tigers and not Iowa. Let's get to the headlines of this Tuesday afternoon. And they are a plentiful and they're from Knoxville as a hearing scheduled for the NCAA infractions against former Tennessee coaches. This has been going off and on some have already settled cases Jeremy Pruitt has not he is still unemployed as a coach more on that later on. The NCAA facing a new multi-million dollar lawsuit, a huge story and we'll talk to Ross dellinger in just a little while. You freeze plenty of ideas in his early tenure as auburn's head coach. He suggests exhibition games against other colleges right now the auburn scrimmage is scheduled for this weekend and you freeze would like to give the fans something more. And we have some major news from the fine bomb caller bracket, a another stunning upset. Legend has made it to the finals, but I'm Ann has been derailed by the man who seems to be beating everyone, didn't cat daddy knock off. Did you not have jail and think he did? And now he has knocked off Iman. That will be decided today because I know you're all sick of hearing about it. And so am I. And Mike Greenberg in the news, the second biggest story in Manhattan today. My Greenberg was a new book. Got your number and that seems to be going around. He did it, of course, which is a comrade on the show. Himbo and the greatest sports legends and the numbers that they own. What's it all about? And look who has arrived on our show after all these years. Mike Greenberg, good afternoon, and it's indeed a pleasure to say hello to you. The pleasure is mind Paul. Thank you for having me. I have been on the show before, but most of the times it's been because I've said something that made your listeners want to yell at me, so hopefully this time we won't have that problem. I do remember that many years ago, and we're not going back there because we do want to talk about this book. I mean, you have written a number of New York Times bestselling nonfiction and fiction, and this is a little bit of a different twist, but it's right in your Wheelhouse. So it sound like every other talk show host in the country, interviewing a famous author. Where did the idea come from and take us through the process? The idea came from someone you know. And that is Pete McConnell, who is the executive producer of get up. So one day we were all sitting around and Paul, I think you'll appreciate this because you like I am just a sports nerd at heart. And our conversations when our show ends are just the worst. I'm ashamed to admit one day we actually tried to name the place kicker on every NFL team in 1978 and I'm horrified to tell you that we were able to do it. And then on this one particular day, we were making the observation of how many Hall of Fame quarterbacks all wore the Jersey number 12. Joe Namath bob griese, Roger Staubach, Terry Bradshaw, Ken stabler, Jim Kelly, and soon to be Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. And Pete McConnell, who, again, is the executive producer of get up, said, yeah, greeny, they all wore the number 12. But who owns the number 12? And Paul, it was like a lightbulb went off over my head. You mentioned I've written some books before, but I've never written a sports book. And when people have asked me why, I've always said, because I didn't have a good enough idea. But this felt like a good idea. So I called him Bo and I laid out the plan. We are going to decide who owns every number from one to a hundred in sports history. He's going to do the research. I'm going to write up a hundred short chapters, which is exactly what we did. The book is released today, and it is designed to create sports debate, meaning you will agree with some of the choices that we made and disagree with others. And then more than anything, though, it is a sports history book. So when you and I were growing up, Paul, I read a ton of sports history. I loved it. And I don't feel like there's as much of that now. So what I promise anyone listening to this is, whether you agree or disagree with some of the choices that we made, you will at least once per chapter say, so at least a hundred times reading this book, you will say, wow, that's something I did not know. Even about an athlete that you think you know really well. So that's what the book is and I couldn't be more excited about it. It really feels like this is the culmination of something that I should have been doing for a long time. Talking to my Greenberg, and Mike, as you were talking about that, I'm thinking of three, 5, 7, 12, you mentioned 15. There are a bunch of them, but I'm also wondering, and having done gimmick, this is not a gimmick, but I've done gimmick books where you have to come up with X number of things. When you get to a certain I mean, there has to be numbers in there that drove you off the off the ledge, or maybe not. So to be clear, when we first sat down

"Required to qualify. Mike Greenberg, greedy. Not a big believer in coincidences. Like whenever someone tries to tell me something is a coincidence, I'm always very skeptical, so dak Prescott was having an MVP caliber season. Then he heard his cat immediately he has no longer been having an MVP caliber season. He has actually been someone who we are worried about. Now, that could be a coincidence, but I have a hard time believing it is. Dreamy with Mike Greenberg, weekday mornings at ten eastern on ESPN radio and watch exclusively on ESPN+. Canty and golic junior right now, it doesn't sound like Pete Carroll feels all that good about where he sits in the seahawk situation. Like, I don't think both of these guys are back here next year. That's for damn sure. Well, I think Seattle as an organization is at a crossroads. They've got to ask themselves some tough questions and one of the first ones should be how long are we going to stay committed to Pete Carroll? Because there's been a lot of winning that's happened. They got a Super Bowl. They usually have a winning record in there. Most of the time they're going to be in the playoffs. But I mean, you're usually talking about the Seahawks outfit, being in the postseason and now it doesn't seem like they're going to be able to do that. And they're not going to have a winning record, so ultimately what direction do you go in as an organization? Do you trade Russell Wilson and give Pete Carroll more runway or do you make the commitment to the quarterback over the head coach knowing that the quarterback probably has more years left in the National Football League more from canty Angola junior? "At 9 45. All right, Mike Greenberg is our teammate here. You hear him noon to two. And Mike had a very interesting take on what the Bears should be doing a quarterback with Andy Dalton starting. What would he do if they had to make a change? I'm about to get the eye roll of all I rose. But hear me out Kmart hear me out. If Andy Dalton gets hurt or struggles early in this game on Sunday night. The quarterback they should go to is Nick Foles. He's on the roster. Here's my question. Marcus Marcus. Here's the question. Is Justin Fields ready to play or not? Because if Justin Fields is ready to play, he should be your starting quarterback, and if he's not, then it is because he's not ready and he doesn't get ready because Aaron Donald lands on Andy Dalton's ankle in the second quarter. So either he's ready to play or not, And if he's not ready to play, don't throw them out there when he's not ready because it doesn't make any sense. I need some yak mix one based on that tape 100% with you. You know why? Because you talked about it. What are you hearing in between what they're saying? Is Justin Fields ready or not? This is not about Andy Dalton. Chicago fans. This is not about any adult. It's about when Justin Fields is ready, right. So the minute he is that's when you put them in the game, because, oh, he's athletic. He can now run defenders if the offensive line isn't good. We're not talking about just 2021. We're talking about the next 10 years. Okay? Does gree understand? They've already announced Justin is the backup. That was from day one. Nick was going to get third team wraps. You can't put Nick Foles into the game unless the second quarterback also goes down. Period. He's the emergency quarterback. I don't I don't understand what Greenberg's trying to do there in that spot. I'm not sure what he's trying to say. There is, unless you have the opinion that only veterans should play Infield should not play at all. This year. You put fulls, you know, you know, let Foles leapfrog Justin Fields. Think greenies angle is if Justin Fields isn't starting, it's because the Bears feel like he's not ready to start yet in an NFL game, so if he's not ready to start And why should he be ready to come in? If for some reason he needed to come in in Game one in that case, he's still not ready. Right? You're still playing the Rams. He's still not ready. Then you got to go to Nick Foles because he's ready. He stinks. Listen, I'm not arguing with you. I'm just trying to see where greenies coming from will falls be active Sunday. No. Okay, then I don't understand the angle. He should know that too, though. Correct me if I'm wrong If I'm wrong can be active, because remember last year who was the third string quarterback Tyler Bray. They made Tyler Bray active one game and they had three active quarterbacks. Yeah, I think they did that, though, because he was going to get claimed off the practice squad by another team, So they put him on the active roster, so he didn't get clean. But my point is, we don't know yet that Nick Folds won't be active. I mean, they could have three active quarterbacks. It is within the rules to have three active quarterback. Give one of your roster spot. Correct. But why would you do that? For what possible reason. Unless you announced Hey, Justin Fields is the third stringer on this. Well, I like I like her. Like for what? Possible reason for what possible reason. Would any team promise? Andy Dalton start Game one, and then actually go along with that promise? I mean, you're dealing with the Chicago Bears. They don't always do things in the most logical sense of the of the word right? Like they don't follow the protocol that Bill Belichick or Andy Reid would So, Yeah, maybe the Bears would have three active quarterback Sunday. We've seen it before. Sure. I mean, back in the day there was It was kind of something that would happen all the time. We have three active quarterbacks because of injury. I just think that in this scenario Sam Mitchell T before falls. I know he's on the roster initially because of Covid because you never know what's gonna happen to with your team. The second thing is, is that they're waiting for the right deal. Someone's going to need Nick Foles at some point in the season, he won't be. He won't be on this roster all season. I predict I would be very surprised. Yeah, So I mean to me when Greenberg says, but it sounds like Greenberg is cool with Foles hopscotching. Jumping over fields of the number two guy because, while falls, someone knows the offense and feels just not ready Don't know where Greenberg's getting that from. I don't know It's fields ready to go. Nagy never said he wasn't correct. He, he said, he said, I feel comfortable. If I have to put him in the game. He's ready to go. But not ready to start. He just feels like I'm going to start the veteran. Let I mean, I was reading you guys, some quotes from John D. Philip. Oh, yes, and he spoke yesterday and I thought eloquently, he said. He's the guy Justin. We thought we were getting when we watched him on tape, said quarterback coach John Dif, Aleppo. Boy. Were we excited when we watched that college tape and there's reason and that translated into here? That's good, because I've been at places not just at quarterback Redraft again and go, Okay, That's not what we saw on tape. That doesn't look like that guy he is and it's really, really exciting. He also said, I'm not sure there's anything that Justin has to get better at. There are things we need to improve on. Fundamentally, I just think it's him going through his first week as a pro player, it's a big step and seeing what it takes to prepare for an NFL game. What does the week look like? Really? What does it look like? What is Wednesday? Game week looked like What is it Thursday of Friday, a travel day. It's all different than it was in the preseason. So again, he Loves this kid. He just feels like pump the brakes. Let him get his feet wet. Let's understand what being an NFL quarterback is watching pro Andy Dalton, who's not going to be as good When their careers are over..

"That. I don't like just cold weather. I just like the threat of winter weather. Which would include you know snow and that kind of thing. I enjoy that. But i but i am as. I'm getting older. Tommy i enjoy this time of year. I think i think i enjoyed the next two months out of the calendar as much as any two for our area like it's the most beautiful time of the year september october. Typically i mean. September can still be hot early in september but when we get to the middle end of the month and then october. It's it's so pretty around here but and you'll be going to like festivals and fairs and stuff like that No time for festival both. Will you be going apple. The apple orchards. Well i won't be but when the kids were young. Those are activities. You know going to butler's orchard way out montgomery county out near where you live almost and taking hay rides and and going through the pumpkin patch and picking pumpkins that was always a a fall ritual for the sheen's it would also. It would have to be like on a saturday not sunday. I was willing to interrupt a college football morning early afternoon for that but couldn't do it for the nfl. Sundays but yeah no. I think there's something Comfortable about this time of year for certainly a lot of the people that are listening. And i am excited about this coming week. I now not as excited as you were mentioning right before. The show started not as excited. Apparently as mike greenberg is for the washington. Football team Holy shit people were sending me this. I still haven't watched it to be honest with you. I just know that he apparently said washington's like his pick to win the whole thing or something. I don't know what basically said. This year's forty niners The forty niners from two years ago. Yeah okay yeah. That's basically what he said You know i mean he's operating on a level of of pure ignorance with with comment like that. But i watched it so i am bunch of people senate to me and i started to watch it and i realized what am i doing here. It's greenberg. i mean who cares would greenberg. Thanks i may not let me just mentioned. Let me make sure i'm clear on this. Mike greenberg is one of the best hosts and facilitators and traffic cops and teasers he knows how to do a talk format radio. Tv as well as anybody does. I think he's in the top three or four guys in terms of of compensation at espn. I think he's very good at what he does. I've never been necessarily a big fan of him or like his knowledge sports or opinions on things but he's excellent at what he does in that is. He does a great job of setting people up. We call it playing traffic cop in in the talk business. You know and i. I've been fortunate enough to sort of been work with people like tommy in cooley over the years where we've all sort of done you know i wouldn't. I've done more of the heavy lifting on the traffic. Stop stuff i. I'll admit that but in terms of the opinions it was always that that's the kind of a show. Was everybody opining on things that they felt passionate about. That's really not greenberg's thing except occasionally people were sending me this thing as if like. Oh my god. Mike greenberg sees it so it has to be true. What well i think. There's there's kind of a snowball effect going on this week. hasn't a line moved In this game in washington favor well. I haven't checked. That was my prediction a couple of months ago. I did predict it. By the time we got to game time washington would be it would either be a pick him or washington would be favored No the line is still pretty much chargers across the board minus one. Okay because i read somewhere. I thought on one sportsbook. It had gone to washington Plus one it wouldn't surprise me if that happens but remember sharp money moves. Point spreads public money or public. Perception really doesn't so I just i well. Actually i just pulled it up on one of my sites to my three sites are still chargers minus one and another one. It's now a pick. I thought it would move a little bit in washington's favour as we as we approached as we approach the start of the game i can tell you this. The public loves washington this week. That's not a surprise they're gonna like washington early. I mean especially when people like mike greenberg proclaim. They're going to be the forty niners of two years ago and and win the nfc championship now in his comments. And i i. I mentioned this to you before the show. But you don't seem to understand what i'm getting at here. He said rivera. He talks about the coach and outbreak the coaches and he said ron rivera had four out of five winning.

"Mike Greenberg is greening people writing off the Steelers are gonna look stupid. The Steelers just need to put the offensive line together. A little Ben at 39 is going to have a better year than he did last year. And that defense is great, and they have great weapons if their offensive line just isn't the worst in the NFL. And then several games later they hated his guts, and they shipped him off to Detroit. The Rams are in trouble. If they don't go to the Super Bowl, they got to go to the they got to go to the Super Bowl, winning a division losing in the first round win getting a wild card playoff berth, losing in the first round. "I saw mike greenberg on get up this morning talking about like he. He was talking about the game against pittsburgh in the playoffs and he was like. Yeah they baker mayfield. Hung forty eight on these guys. What else does he need to do. And i was like hold on a minute. I watched that game. And i believe me i grew up like a you know my old man's big browns fan. Everybody hates the steelers. Where i'm from or most people do right. That's that big rivalry before the browns left and it was the arctic for me for as a as a guy from the cleveland area to watch. What's the browns to stop the steelers. A playoff game is their first win in forever. That was great but the steelers shit the bed. They peed all over their leg from the beginning of that game. They were terrible absolutely terrible. It reminded me of when when the cheese got their first playoff win. Remember gets the texans and brian hoyer was just throwing the ball and everybody in red jersey was absolute meltdown and it was really great and cathartic because we didn't have to worry or stress playoff game for once but like that that was to me the browns of last year. It's like they. They went up against a team was done. What is your take on the browns. Are they an afc contender or a pretender. I don't know how to make up my mind on that. I wanna be decisive in say one or the other. But i think you're right i I like i feel like after after cycling through enlists leadership regimes or whatever. You wanna call it in the front office and on the sidelines. I think they have that right. And so i think casey that first hand. If you get that right you can really build something meaningful. Also you know like. How did you feel about josh allen. A year ago right. You say something like you know. I'm not a believer. Until i see him throw like like will the team you know on his own arm. And so i i think given the potential ceiling of a guy like mayfield of of these top picks if if the chance to reach the ceiling is they're you know they're still very young. I think the browns could turn that corner. They face a hell of a challenge right out of the gate. Obviously a you know.

"I agree so this is a super team. But how it's going to fit. I mean i think even lakers fans even lebron supporters. When they first heard russell westbrook could be joining. Lebron the lakers. I mean i most people were like what like. How's that going to work. Both of them were ball dominate. Neither is a great shooter. Westbrook's not a good shooter. But kenny smith the former player. Nba champion obviously has made a huge name for himself hall of famer for his broadcasting on tnt and inside the nba and all that he was on with mike greenberg at the old network route and he actually said this who has the best. Big three in basketball is the big three in brooklyn the best big three in basketball or is the big. Three with the lakers. Well neither one of them. We've seen play honestly to be really fair about it. When brooklyn played their best. One of those guys will always out last year and when they were all together we never really got a chance to see it. The one thing that i would probably say is the lakers. Probably would just naturally play better easily. Because anthony davis does it need to handle the basketball to be productive. Brussel works can pass and assists and rebound to be productive. Lebron doesn't need the basketball to be productive. I think when the mets are at their best their best players score. So when the with one basketball i would say with the easier for the lakers to adjust to play better together. I'm baffled by that route. I don't i don't even know what he's talking about. Yeah i mean i got. I got great respect for kim. No i'm just saying. I don't i don't know four. Yeah i mean verse all. Yeah i get what he's saying. We really didn't see a lot of the big three. We saw seven eight games. It it works swimmingly. Like there's no there was no lake is because james harden conform. Chris right right when he got to brooklyn kyri. We was cool with not handling the basketball. He doesn't need to have the ball as well. He can make shots. He doesn't have to only have the bright and to win can fit in any way and he doesn't need the ball he doesn't have to get thirty shots. He's goodwood. Fourteen shots. Chris and he can still scored thirty points. My right i thought totally. I don't know. I don't know what it means that that like. He didn't get it or he didn't see or like the lakers are going to be better. I just i'm lost this year. I am in iraq. You know this is a i guess. This is not a sexy guests. I i did think. And i said this is a huge chemistry experiment win. These three came together. But i also said i think the best thing for them to do is have james harden at the point and kyrie at the to and i said if kyrie accepts being the to then.

"It's madden ratings. Reveal week all across. Espn take a look at this. This yesterday made the rounds. It's tom brady. Who seems to be playing catch by himself with jugs machine. That is something that normally someone stands behind the machine feeds the ball into it and then it flings it out to you but brady's throwing it seems into that tiny little space there where that would normally get done and then of course he knocks down. Looks at the camera and says let's go. Here's the question i have for you. Dominique the cynical among us are suggesting that this is fake that it is doctored. What do you think need. I mean it's okay. Maybe it's possible but my first nation was this was misinformation. Do not all this propaganda. Mike greenberg this is nonsense. But but if i told you when you and i first met only forty three year old man is going to get better stronger. Younger-looking and handsomer and when mvp of the super bowl you would have said. Nobody can do that either. Tom brady does things nobody can do. But greedy the rules have changed. He doesn't get hit. I would. I would love for him to go back and tell me how many times tom brady. Got hit in twenty twenty. I guarantee it was less than thirty. He hasn't touched all year. Is different to meet you in grozny going and play quarterback. "Future. Just gonna sit back and have a little story time. Tell me a story. I'm gonna tell you my favorite story about Tom Brady. It takes place, circa 19 years circled the year 2050. 2050. So we're about 30 years from now. And it involves me and I'm sitting on a porch swing. I'm surrounded by my great grandchildren. They're all around me. Ideally, I have just finished shooting my age on the golf course. I'm drinking an outstanding glass of one. And I've got all my great grandkids circling around me, and they're saying to me, Greenie. Because that's what they're going to call me to be very clear. No one's calling me Grandpa. I'm not interested in any of that. None of this Pappy pop pop. I'm not stepping down for that. They're really going to call me greenie. Or the Hall of Famer Mike Greenberg. One or the other haven't decided yet. But either way they're going to say to me, Greenie Who was the greatest player you ever saw a play? And I will tell them to lean close and listen. As I tell them about Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. And this comes as an abject shock to me. Because I was 24 years old. When a guy by the name Iran, Gleason changed my life with one sentence. He said to me, Mike, you've done a good job. We're going to send you on the road with the Bulls. That weekend, I flew to Cleveland to cover Michael Jordan in the 1992 Eastern Conference finals. And my life was literally never the same again. My connection to Michael Jordan is very personal. I saw it all up close and personal. All the work that we know goes into becoming that guy all the maniacal competitiveness that we watched on TV last spring. I saw it. I was there. I would have bet you my life. I would never ever say that anyone was greater than MJ. Fair is fair. But Brady did this year at 43. Changing teams joining a franchise that hadn't been to the playoffs and 13 years hadn't won a playoff game since January of 2000 and three with a 68 year old head coach would won one playoff game in his life and a mishmash of pieces that mostly people didn't want with. No off season. No preseason truncated everything. We have just witnessed Is one of the great accomplishments in sports history. And it was centered primarily around the leadership and determination of one man. And it's cement his legacy without reasonable objection. Tom Brady is the goat. American sports now Michael Jordan's second It kills me to say that kills me. But it has to be said. So that's my story. It takes place in the future. I will gather my grand my great grandchildren around me. And I will tell them stories of watching Tom Brady play quarterback. Because he has now become the best player I ever saw. And I never ever in my life would have thought that even remotely possible list.

"Just showing me any slowing down. Yeah. 10 Super Bowl appearances. This will be first away from Bill Bell check and the Pats seeking his seventh Lombardi, Bucks quarterback Tom Brady. It's a great question. I think about that quite a bit actually. And You know, I think just Being grateful for all the blessings in my life, and I've got you know more than anyone could imagine so In the end. I just try to do the best I could do you know, with every situation and you understand there's a lot of people that have supported me over the time to get to this point. So I think any Let me get a chance to realize your dreams. And I've been, you know, between high school college pro football doing this for almost 30 years Just so appreciative of all the different people have helped me along the way. I just So grateful for all the experiences that I had, and hopefully that, you know, I can In my own way. Give back eyes best I can to, you know other people who may be looking to achieve and accomplished our dreams, too. Yeah, Brady ass across the years if he's felt a sense of luck, there's no doubt he's the goat right? Mike Greenberg takes his comparisons to greats from other sports. Basketball. How would you like to be in a locker room crying Tears of joy and have Tom Brady yell atyou that we haven't accomplished our goal yet? I will tell you why I love that story. Because that is exactly what Michael would have done. Colby, too. Member Kobe that legendary press conference during the finals when the job wasn't done. You were asking why you didn't so angry. They just want a finals game. They're asking him. Kobe. Why do you seem so frustrated? Why do you not seem happy? Why are you smiling? And he get going back at the reporter is the job done? Is the job done? If the job isn't finished, there's no reason to smile. These guys are just wired differently. It is fascinating. The psychology of it. That's what this stuff is. I find myself wondering what is it that makes Tom Brady keep going? Joe Montana can appreciate what Brady has done. Having won four Super Bowls with the San Francisco 40 Niners. He was with Greeny trying to wrap his arms around Brady's accomplishments. Pretty amazing. You know, T O b that resilient over the years and not only playing at 43, but the success he's had is just, you know, I don't I don't think I'll ever be. Well. If it's gonna be matches could be matched by the guy who's he's playing this weekend. So, but, yeah, it's pretty pretty amazing. The like I said success. He's had both in New England and then now you're moving out the show down to Tampa. He's got a lot of weapons down there, and defense has been playing pretty well. So They're a good team, so can imagine them not being back in it again on that base. Straight talk wireless. No contract. No compromise. They, of course, are talking.

"Eastern ESPN Radio and ES began news and then don't forget beginning January 5th Greenie with Mike Greenberg beginning, Tim A M Eastern time holding and go Joe the 79 yard touchdown run by Jerome Ford on Lee scoring in that third quarter. Longest rush Georgia has allowed in the last 15 seasons after you guys start the fourth. Wow. How about that? That's a great note. Kevin? Yeah. Only 85 yards for Cincinnati and offense in the third quarter and 79 yards on the Ford scamper was most of it. Lot offense all by either side in that quarters. We get the fourth Cincinnati moving right to left out back to throw. Ritter is being chased from behind movie to his right on his feet. He'll just fire that one out of bounds intentionally. That's the first play in the fourth quarter. Cincinnati leading 21 attempt and usually when we get a goose egg on both sides, point wise after that initial burst in the quarter, I'm saying offenses and executing, but no, these defense's of both come to play Cincinnati on their side who came into this game leading FBS in yards per play allowed by defense has looked every bit of the part, as has this Georgia front for Cincinnati trying to finish the season undefeated with a victory, they will close it out as an unbeaten team attendant all A 14 minutes and 53 seconds to pull that off. Against the powerhouse in Georgia's SAT back for Ritter is gonna hand off now to the back. Who's gonna duck inside your own? Ford had a great run. Play against them three yards of victory for Cincinnati, put it into context against the team like Georgia. I just saw the tweet from Dan Orlovsky uses great job is a college and pro analyst forces that expansion mandatory. All eyes are on this game. It's the Power five against the group of five. It's this playoff expansion. If the SEC all of this at stake in a game that feels a lot bigger than just one game certainly does. The bear cats and their program. Which has emerged as a tremendous program. Trying to finish up undefeated. The staff. Back to throw Ridder and it is knocked out of his hands from behind. The football is loose down on the deck in a pile on that Georgia says they have it and Georgia has the football. They have forced the turnover and a big one. Indeed, with 14 minutes to go in the fourth, trailing by 11 and disease, Ojul Ari there outside linebacker, Russian shot out of a cannon. On that play, and he gets the great 2021 sack where he's not going for the big hit. He goes for the strip. First take away for Georgia. Man. Did he come flying in like Superman and back that away a giant turnover. And a wild up recovered at the 25 yard line. So the Bulldogs with tremendous position here. Incredible bit of sudden change, Georgia's defense said to overcome it so many times, and now they provide a great bit of sudden change for that offense. Who's got the ball on the opposing 25? First down and 10 for JT Daniel's staff back to him. He's gonna step up now and throw short got it free to his tight end Fitzpatrick, who is upended after picking up the first down On the far sideline a 17 yard gain. Fitzpatrick a little bit gimpy.

Noose found in Bubba Wallace's garage stall, NASCAR says
"Now? Mike Greenberg Bristol with you this morning. And as I said right off the top of the show, I would have loved to have started with any of those today, and we certainly will get to the mall, but we begin with an absolutely despicable story coming from the world of NASCAR. In this developing story, a noose was found in bubba Wallace's. Stall at the NASCAR race in Talladega Alabama yesterday less than two weeks after Wallace led efforts to push NASCAR to ban the confederate flag NASCAR announced the news last night well after the race had been postponed due to inclement weather, and said it was launching an immediate investigation here. was there statement late this afternoon? Nascar was made aware that a noose was found in the garage stall of the forty three eighteen. We are angry and outraged, and cannot state strongly enough. How seriously we take this heinous act! We have launched an immediate investigation and we'll do everything we can to identify the persons responsible and eliminate them from the sport. As we have stated unequivocally, there is no place for racism and NASCAR, and this act only strengthens our resolve to make the sport open and welcoming to all while himself tweeted a statement last night, which read in. In part today's despicable act of racism and hatred leaves me incredibly saddened, and serves as a painful reminder of how much further we have to go as a society and how persistent we must be in the fight against racism. As my mother told me today, they are just trying to scare you. This will not break me. I will not give enor- rely back down. I will continue to proudly stand for what I believe. In Allah Marty Smith is covering this for us in the scene in Talladega. He joined us an hour ago. The News in Bubbas garage stall was actually seen by a member of his team. Darrell Bubba never saw it. He never saw it personally and win. That team members saw it. He alerted NASCAR. And Nascar immediately had a meeting of its senior executive staff, and they made the decision that they were going to remove this person from the sport as quickly and rapidly as possible. This was not a situation where a fan might have meandered in on this because there were no fans in the garage. So what you're looking at is you're looking at team members. You're looking at officials. You're looking at potential security. You're looking at maybe cleaning personnel that have access to these garage areas. Again! That was Marty Smith with US earlier. Lebron James among many who posted messages about this. He tweeted sickening Wallace, my brother! No, you don't stand alone I'm right here with you as well as every other athlete, I just want to continue to say how proud I am of you for continuing to take a stand for change here in America and sports at Nascar. I salute you as well. Well Sprint Cup driver Michael McDowell added. God help us the level of evil. It takes to do something like this is disgusting. This is enraging and heartbreaking all at the same time Dale. EARNHARDT Jr. tweeted simply a hope of a wins it tomorrow again. The race will be run today. It was delayed by weather yesterday, and as I bring Steven A. and Marcus into the conversation here I'll. Repeat that the area in which this was discovered, there were cameras all over it should be. Relatively easy investigation for the NASCAR officials to conduct, and we are standing by for any information live from Talladega Marty Smith will bring us anything as soon as there is any further news with that thought in mind, Stephen. We've not yet had a chance to say good morning to you I. I just want to give you the floor here. What are your feelings and thoughts as we see this story developed from last night? Well I. Mean I think that for me? Personally I'm a little bit different than the kind of sentiments that have been expressed by a lot of people, because obviously you find this reprehensible and disgusting, and it's incredibly sad, and we get all of that but there's a forgive the the figurative smirk that might end up covering my face or draping my face because to me. Me It's just folks displaying the ignorance, and the more they put it on display, the more it enlightens a lot of people in White. America about what Black America has been telling them about for so many years decades spanning centuries for crying out loud. This is not new. This is something that we've known existed for all time. This is something we know we'll continue to exist. And there is no way around it and so this there comes a point in time where you have to accept that reality one of the things that I would encourage everybody to go watch. If you get an opportunity, you can go on Netflix. You can watch that documentary thirteen by EVA do vernay along with others, sensational job of address mass incarceration in the United States, of America one of the things they highlighted. Is that under the Nixon? Administration where you're literally talking about you know White folks that are hippies and you associate them with marijuana and you associate black. Black folks with crack cocaine, and as a result of that will ultimately galvanize folks in your favor, because they'd be scared to death, and you'd be hearing words like law and order ad, nauseam that was in the sixties for crying out loud in two thousand and twenty, and we're hearing the same thing now. You just have to open your eyes. You have to pay attention to the parallels you have to. You have to pay attention to the correspondence. That's taking place right before your very eyes throughout history, we have had people that have been adroit at light laying low. Controlling the narrative, manipulating the narrative switching things to their favor, all in an effort to maintain or to retain power. It's something to kind of thing that has been taking place in. Usually they've been incredibly skilled at remaining in the dark and saying it's then it's not us, it's them. It's not us well guess what are coming to light more and more in this day and age I find that a cause for celebration, not a 'cause. You know to be saddened by anything. The I find these to be. Beautiful tops as difficult as it may be the fact that I nation appears to be becoming more enlightened than ever before and ultimately as a result. We're coming together. I find that to be a huge plus not a minus. If the ignorance has to show itself, and if the ignore, it has to showcase themselves in order for this to happen coming out of the dock to me. That's of course was celebration Marcus. Stephen. That's what I alluded to earlier man just come on out. Show us who you are, so we know how to deal with you and everybody. That's four. Right knows how to deal with you. Look listen, this is. There has been. We've been having this conversation for a long time. I mean we had this conversation we had. This conversation went capped kneeled about police brutality. We talked about racing all of them and man you. You look if you look around and social. There were people literally Oh twitter last night. Say A BUBBLE! Did this for attention? What what are you talking about like? It's not. It's not unfathomable that someone could do that. We sold Jesse's me. Make reference to that because people can conjure up things to create narratives to make people overreact. That's why saying earlier. Estimate I'm not doing this emotional. Rollercoaster I'm getting off of it right like I'm nuts and bolts to was going on. There is progress that needs to be made in this country I'm focusing on that progress that needs to be made. That's what bubble wireless is focused in on a by making his statements in Nascar. That's a lot of athletes are focused on a lot of people in society in general of focused on making sure that we draw a line between racist people and people that one good for everybody. That's the bottom line. Look for as much as this is egregious and the things that have transpired for low type. I grew up in the south light. It's not. An uncommon for me to see racist people are know what it looks like or even even be surprised or shocked about certain things that tend to happen. The bottom line is this. I'm often emotional roller coaster like if you racist just be that come out publicly and be that enlist separate that and you be a part of the minority port society that we want to get to, and we think we already are at so all of that being said I'm with Steve Day like in this bringing a lot of people to the light, and the hateful ones are fighting their battle because they see slipping away. Score you're not GonNa hear me say this very very often, but I wanNA give major major kudos to a Lotta. White folks out there in America because if it wasn't for them, protesting and marching with black individuals if it wasn't for them, you know engaging in the kind of of of you know resistance to whatever level of oppression we as black people have been feeling this nation I. Don't think some of these folks will. will be coming out I. mean listen the back. In the day. They used to wear the sheets and used to cover the identity and their faces that we didn't know who the hell they were by virtue of that now. Some black people, a lot of black people will tell you they exist in corporate America. They could be the very people that you're working for the very people that you're talking to I happen to be. Be Blessed we happen to be blessed to not certainly not have that at this company is because we've seen the actions on the part of our executives. And what have you over continuous basis? Elevated level of sensitivity that this place has shown throughout the years deserves to be commended. There's always work to do. There is no perfect place. Make no about it, but I'm incredibly proud to be a part of the Walt Disney and And specifically the ESPN family in that regard having set all of that I'm in the minority, because the reality is vast people, there's a vast number of people of African. American descent in the United States of America that feel subjugated I wouldn't go so far as to say enslaved, but feel subjugated by bosses in corporate America people that say all the right things when the cameras are rolling, but behind the scenes they engage. Eight your and the conduct. Subjugation that they devote their voiceless. They don't have a voice in that regard, green. Marcus knows exactly what I'm talking about. And so because of that because of these times that we're living, what we're seeing is a populous within the United States of America that sees the dramatic shift, and there's so appalled, and and put and taken aback by what they see transpiring that they can't hide their vitriol. They're coming out of the dock because they're being forced out of the dog. We as black people. People have to appreciate the fact that couldn't happen without a vast number of white individuals in our society standing with us and saying you know what we see where the hell you coming from. If we didn't see it before we see it now, and we're with you, so you have that other segment of the population saying wait a minute we lose some of our own here. Some of our own alternative guests and the poor in this noxious. We gotTA speak up and as a result. Of the dock again I find that a cause for celebration doesn't bother me at all. The Stephen A. Smith Show
Dak Prescott won’t take the Dallas Cowboys to the Super Bowl
"I don't see the Cowboys ever winning a Super Bowl with that. Got a quarterback. Because once you get to the point where you're playing against the best competition in your conference, even if you were to get to the Super Bowl plan the best the other conference has to offer. He's gonna make big mistakes in a big spot. He's not going to see it. He's gonna throw the terrible interception. He's going to break. Now. He can and that past Amari Cooper where you could see him pats head a little bit. So Dan Lobski talking about this this morning on get up with Mike Greenberg. Audible to the go right down the sideline where he got the matchup. He wanted that was great quarterbacking in that. That's what you're supposed to do if you can play at a championship level. But there are times where he misses wide open guys and also throws balls into coverage where if you're in the meeting room at that Prescott the next day of the offensive coordinator, if he was a rookie you'd be saying to them. What did you say? What were you looking at? How could you not have seen ABC in thrown it here? He makes those mistakes. I don't think you're ever winner with them. At least not big you can be a playoff team. You're not going to be a playoff winning team with that Prescott a quarterback. I don't think.

That's a very slick thing. You just said that less is what do you mean affiliated because you could be affiliated with the team as a player personnel director scout anything like that. What are you saying? Here's what somebody's going to do. I asked that record Glasser. Somebody's going to bring him in. Slowly, they're going to hire met to be an advisor to the owner to the general manager associate coach. And then before you knew it. He's going to continue to get more opportunities with that French reason, why was questioning Jalen Mike Greenberg is because I was saying there's no way in hell. They do. Rick Pitino is going to be a head coach again in the National Basketball satiate, and it's never have. I don't think it's ever going to happen. But it's not that he doesn't deserve. What happened in college? Jalen, right. That's one of the collegiate level. Clearly he's qualified and when you consider the up temple style that we see take place in the NBA. That's certainly something that Rick Petito, situa mastered. Yeah. And not not just on the collegiate level. But in this time in the NBA as well. The problem is. Jalen bring this up, but he'll not in that formation. When I say this in my opinion, today's youngsters that are running organizations the age of the analytics and Owen, they don't want to bring in a coach who is established hall of Famer credible. Winds national champion or whatever because they're threatened that their their power is going to be compromised.
