"Because i think there is a lot going on there as far as texas and oklahoma. Nobody's saying anything right now. And certainly i want to hear what greg sankey says in three hours but it would just seem to me that it's opened the door a little bit wider for a A sue a quicker exit Because i agree everything. That malls has said has now been you know really shoved right back at him and and. I don't think that you know what. I don't think you really wanna start a new league off with two malcontent. So i think. I think the door is now open for negotiation. That's my opinion. I i've been on a plane all day. It's not like i've spoken anyone so I'm really eager to talk to the commissioner. Another thing. I want to talk to him about. John is the playoff and i was reading nicole our backs piece today and the athletic and others And it looks like at first glance. This twelve team playoff is dead and at least it's dead for happening anytime soon. So i i think i think the people that are aligned with fox have used the texas oklahoma departure As a way to play politics and they've muddied the waters And i think they've ended up hurting themselves in. This comes off arrogant but the sec is the league that needs the twelve team playoff the least and the big twelve and pac twelve needed most. And they're not going to get it and that's their own fault. Well thanks for the update. I won't shoot the messenger. But i do appreciate the update. Thank you very much appreciate glad to hear from you. Britain is up next britain. Thank you and welcome to our show. Thank you for having a just real quick from a razorback fan perspective Really jealous that you guys are there at the stadium. Which was there. But i just want to say. I think it's really unfortunate that arkansas has to go out and really prove themselves. Just how tough they are every season and it just feels like the dodgers stacked against them whenever they have the hardest schedule and the fbi the second year in a row even the third year in a row. And you know if they were a team like alabama playing mercer every week i think they can maybe show everybody what they're really capable of it. Well i appreciate your thoughts You're right arkansas. Schedule last year was was next to impossible but it is a rotation And there's a there's a message in the madness but but ultimately i don't think arkansas's future is going to be judged by this game tomorrow. I think it is a measuring stick. I think ultimately arkansas will be judged how it does against auburn does against missouri and texas saying And in other schools like that. So i think it's an opportunity for this program to make a stamp on national television but no one no one's going to be Gnashing their teeth. This game you know ends up as a loss. Hey thanks for the call. Brandon is up. Next head brandon today posed brandon We are doing great. It's really cool to be out here. Hey great I had a question or a two part question. If you don't mind sir I was looking at Preseason ranked spor sec quarterbacks. And this is obviously before this past saturday. And i think it was saturday down. South could have been somebody else. I'm not gonna. I don't know but they had a will weather at number ten which is fair. That's fine. i'm wondering but that got me started thinking as far as What you saw on saturday. And i'm not talking about the opposition. I'm more of talking about accuracy and strength of arms stuff. Like that and the was going.

"What's good everybody. Welcome to another niners nation. Podcast i am rob's that's carreira here with you as i said yesterday. Michelle magique is off today. So there's no regular stats and mags podcast. But don't worry wanted to do something a little different to take advantage of the fact that we can switch it up a little bit here. So i was able to get hold of mike. Golic junior of espn. He was kind enough to sit down with me yesterday. So we can talk about the forty niners offensive line look. They've had a lot of problems there last season. We all know mike. Mcglinchey issues are well documented. Well golick obviously played for notre dame. He still has close ties to that program and with mcglinchey and now aaron banks on the right side of that forty niners offensive line to notre dame guys i thought it might be worth checking in with golick and you know picking his brain a little bit. Why did mike mcglinchey. Struggle can the forty niners offensive line. Be better in twenty twenty one. What are we getting with aaron banks. How is alex mack. Going to help things at center. So mike and i sort of ran the gamut here when it comes to the offensive line and also yes we did talk about trae lance a little bit because mike had a great reaction when lance was initially drafted by the forty niners. He was extremely excited. And he thinks lance is a little bit more pro ready than maybe some of the other people in the national media so we got all that with. Mike was about twenty minute interview. Wanted to give you the chance to hear it again before i toss to that just reminder if you haven't done it already please follow the niners nation podcast network leave us a five star rating and review. It really does matter. If there's more guests you wanna hear different guests you want me to ask a guest a certain question. Drop it in your review. I promise you we will read it all right without further ado. Here's mike golic. Junior of espn got an interesting guests. Somebody that i know back from my days at espn radio way. Back in god the early two thousands. Now michael junior you know from chennai golick you know for pretty much everything. Espn what's up. Mike thanks for coming up stat going to say. We were just talking about the entire likened by coaching tree. Wherever once ended up right now so glad we can look back and it's a while yes it definitely has. There's a ton. I wanna get to. But i always said that if i got the chance to interview i would do this because i used to. Produce profootballtalk which was on six. Am so. I'll be driving into work when you were on with robin lundberg on the overnights on espn radio. We first and last. And i gotta tell you when i first heard you were on. The i was like this is bullsh- golic's kid is on the air. He doesn't deserve this. This is unbelievable. And i thought you stunk. And i listen to you every single day and i want to say to you. I was jealous. And i was one hundred percent wrong then. And you've only gotten better now. And i wanted to say on the air because i always felt bad about it. I always said. I would never begrudge anyone for feeling that way about me because listen. We all certainly jobs for different reasons than i knew. A big part of mine was exactly what everyone saw there. So i a grudge anyone you on that way in you probably right then because god love robin lundberg. Who had to really help me along all that one i have. I know everyone tells you to save your first couple of shows and go back and listen. I have not had the courage to go back and listen for a couple of first of last so you were probably right. Then but it's it's it's been a journey for sure. I got lucky that they put me. They're just you know tried to make the most of it since it's just like football. Reps rep threats. You know eventually. The bad still works at this point. So we'll see how much longer we can fool them. So i'm willing to admit when i'm wrong clearly but i don't think i'm wrong when i look at the forty niners offensive line and that's one of the things i wanted to talk to you about today. I don't know where to start. I gotta start. I guess with mike mcglinchey. Like can you explain to me. How dude that was kicked in the top. Ten of the draft is getting put on his ass by defensive backs last season. Show i think mike and for i think last season's going to end up being a bit of an anomaly for bike here. I just i know for him. He was a guy that when.

"Nba memories examples of that's game. I gotta think. Obviously now that i'm in toronto. Kawhi shot against the philadelphia. Seventy sixers and twenty nineteen playoffs bounce bounce bounce bounce in unbelievable think about ross block turn the Warriors series around for the cavs so many great moments when it comes to the nba. Both on the court and off the court a low players donating three thousand meals to houston during their crisis. That's game i love when the nba to different places in the world. John's vafa campaign basketball clinics around the country. That's game it is a great sport to watch. It's an interesting sport to cover. And we are now in the best time of the year and that is the nba playoffs. The road to the finals is on watch the nba playoffs. Now that's came are mike. So here's what. I wanna finish with And this this is always been interesting to me. know i've written this many times in in print like When i listen to the radio especially my formative years. I liked more edgy. Radio howard stern and people like that. So mike and mike. Yeah mike and mike was not really my thing. I've certainly written this in in print And so one of the things that struck me. When i talk to your boss truck keller who i really i liked. I liked all my dealings with him. I thought he was a really bright guy he ran. espn's audio business including talent and content etc and so we talked about this and i sort of told him. We had a conversation about once about mike. And mike. And i sort of said you know he's like you know you've written a couple of times like richard. You know that you think the shows to vanilla. And i sort of told them why i thought that and i remember. He told me this and this was really interesting. And part of me now understand. It's a little bit more as a parent and he said let me give you the litmus test for mike and mike and why it's sort of like worked for. Espn radio he said. Wanted to get a radio show where kids in the backseat. Driving to school could listen to something. With their moms or dads. That was the kind of show. I ultimately pitch to advertisers. That was the kind of show that we at. Espn wanted in the radio to fit our brand. And i thought that was sort of interesting if you use the litmus test of all right this kids in the back who like sports what can you put on. And who sort of works for them and it gave me a little more insight mike into why i think you connected with so many viewers out there that they felt that your enthusiasm and passion for sports was real even if they didn't necessarily agree with an opinion of yours or if they thought you were to pro. Nfl or not. I think they liked your i. You were sort of unique in you were you. Were you and that to me. I think was why you were successful. It radio and i wonder if you've sort of ever thought about you know most guys don't have your kind of resume and radio. Nobody has this kind of long. Run as you. And mike. And mike did and i wonder if you sort of out thought about least endure end. Why worked why you think you connected to an audience so we were never told you know talk never sat down again because green and i met before a like it was even an audition There was. This is after tony. Bruno had left. There were like thirteen. Different co hosts. They were bringing in to see what my next partner would be. When somebody couldn't come in they would have a person working at. Espn just kind of fill in and green was one of those shots in a green. It was just kind of filling in. But i've told the story many a time you know. My wife heard the first fifteen minutes of the first time we met each other. And she said he sounds kinda geeky but he's the one you know and and you know eighteen years later it turned out pretty well but we were never sat down and said we want to like what trump told you was never told to us This was just how we were. You know so. This is in two thousand when greenie and i started you know. I had three kids by that point. My youngest being six my oldest being eleven eleven eleven years old ten eleven years old greedy had no kids but they were getting close to have a nikki their first so he was getting ready to become a parent. And it's a one thing we both kind of just a side. We didn't sit and talk about. It was just kind of understood until we did say we like it. That's like that. We were going to be more of a family show. We weren't gonna be that are rated we're going to be. Pg thirteen probably of most. We weren't gonna step on the blue line or over the blue line. We we wanted. You know i. it's up. In the beginning anything. My kids did did was going to become content on air and turned out as green as kids were growing through this Through our show is did as well. But we like that but that but we didn't act win. Put back on. Richard that that's kind of who we were you know. My kids mocked me all the time when they're going to do something and certainly for mike when he was going to get into this and we talked about it for really the in any stretch of life interviews jobs. Whatever i give this line of my kids roll our eyes and laugh man. I just be yourself you know. My dad gave me that that that A long long time ago he said some people like it. Some people won't so that's all. I've been for those seventeen eighteen years. That's all i've been i. I've always been kind of a guy you could sit at the bar with have a bear with jute debris you know we've had women come up to us on the on the road during the shows and say you know what just what trump said she said. I appreciate what. I'm driving my kid in school. I never have to have my hand on the dial. Get ready to turn I it's just the way we did the show. But that's naturally how we did this show because people always sale. Espn's telling him to do this do that. I can honestly say. I was never told to do. One thing I it's always just how..

"I think any parent would do for any kid. Given the circumstances where if there's any blowback on their kid they would wanna try to avoid that. All costs trae told me this and you certainly would have known this before. Anybody else would have known this that you know. Once his contractual obligations were up for the morning show. He wanted to do something else. He wasn't a morning. He loved the needless. I'm sure he you know he loved the job he had before but he was made. An offer was obviously very good offer. He was on. He was told by people. He trusted that. You can't turn this down. Because in his words trays words. Imagine we'll hold this against you so he did it. He fulfilled his obligation and then And then we know what happened to him when when he lets you know that he he he was ultimately going to move and he wasn't gonna continue with the show did you. Did you have any inkling that this would ultimately be what happened or were you working under the premise. That okay if trays not there then they're gonna give me another partner and i'll make it work with another partner. Yeah i definitely thought. I was going to keep going yes. I'm you know when. Mike and mike ended and they were talking about the next host the and they they. They asked me for my input which is interesting. I've been ask for my input a lot over the years but it never seemed to work but but by was again. That's that's their decisions. Not mine and i said listen. I i no track. They brought up trays name. I said i know try worked with trae since two thousand and three on. nfl lie. We live five minutes each other. You know in connecticut. So i know him get along well with him Jason fitz had been filling in a lot me. Been me jason. And my son. Mike and i said or stew bats. I said sugata someone i know. Mike is work with a lot. I've enjoyed working with a lot. I and it was to the point. Where i actually call. Dan dan lebatardshow. And i said listen. I'm if i'm gonna keep pursuing this with with jason fitz and obviously they're talking with trae as well and that's cool. But i want to get to in the mix as well but i'm only going to do it if you're i don't wanna be like i'm poaching your partner. I need you to say. Hey that's cool. you can do. It and dan was great about dancing. Listen that's something that's do wants to do you know. I am more than happy that if he wants to go do it and they offer he wants to do it so i made sure i did that. And then i trod keller is still running radio and they and i was basically told us they felt they would go the safest route which was trey because trey was a obviously a well known commodity at true crow at what he does without question. I mean kills with the nfl and and and and football obviously being king as well so to bring tran and listen. I was fine with it. I would have been fine with with any one of those three. But and i get it from trace point too. You know you're you're you're getting yourself a nice pay day so i completely understand that but jack. It didn't take long behind the scenes for for trade. You know he didn't like the morning show and and it probably and i think he's even admitted it probably wasn't in his best interest to let everybody else know that as well. I think he had talked about that kind of publicly. Or even the bosses and i. I don't know that helped him in the long run is is. You've probably like i'm just being honest here and he was. He was very honest before his contract is up to the powers. Be that says. Listen this is over. I just i just don't like these hours you know and and i don't wanna do it. And he was very forthright with them. And you know that they're there and game for him. I guess was that's it. You know you're here already. Espn so i. When when our show was and and then when they were going to me trae. I decided kind of during the pandemic and i remember writing an email to To to jimmy into norby today. I said listen guys i said i get you may be done you know with with me and this show in a way it is i said. Let me just put this out here. I said we're in a pandemic right now. You know the world's kind of upside down. Why don't you just make it easy now. This was last. What march or april. I guess just just to have you know trae his truck. You know what we know. Trae doesn't wanna do it anymore. So he's he's gonna gonna leave. You know the the show. I said because of the pandemic. He's traveling where nobody's doing everything. Why don't we just keep some consistency. Just had me. Mike and jason fitz because jason fitz filled in a time. You know. Just move him in there because again. Nobody was traveling. We i know while me and mike trae doing in our basement. Jason could've could've filled in for the slot where trae wasn't been right in the basement and let's just keep the consistency till we're through this thing next year right around this time you know what would have been. I said instead of trying a brand new show with completely new characters. Where i said i been. I been doing this for almost eight years with brady. And when i started a new show at betraying radio and espn traveled us. Everywhere to the affiliates. Me and tran might. All were very well known especially trained but still we were marketed out to the affiliates. Hey this is going to be the new show to give it to build a ramp it up. You know to give it some juice that they and and i said this is going to if you have a whole new show. I said it certainly isn't really fair to them. They can't do any of that. And it turned out to be obviously zubin and jaylen keyshawn. They didn't get the benefit of any of that. I felt like i got behind the eight ball of nineteen travel around and get in front affiliates and do q. and a. with with listeners. And all that for a couple of months and roll it out. What was it. Also a self serving. Were going to continue to have his show. Yes but i also remember me. And mike go all over the place to talk to people and meet people slap backs and shake hands. And these guys didn't get to do that at all. So i said an email. Let me mike. And jason gopher year. Let us go from april or may or whatever was till next april may or june and if it still at that point which would be right now and we are coming out of the pandemic. everything opened up. If you still feel the need to change it then you have had it. We'd have had a whole year to kind of get what you wanted to go..

"If you are a sports media he doesn't really need an introduction. I'll give them one anyway. Mike golic spent twenty six years at espn as a radio host and if a studio analyst nfl and college football game analyst obviously part of one of the most well-known radio shows in the history of the medium. Mike and mike and mike golic is good enough to join me today on the sports media. Podcast mike i've been i've been trying to track you now for a while. I i appreciate you I really do appreciate you coming coming on no problem. Maybe i do need an introduction. Now it's been a while so so you know maybe people have for forgotten. What the what would i do or what i did. So maybe after reintroduce myself we yeah. We're in an attention deficit disorder society. But but i think your your resume probably holds all right. I you know full well. That obviously is some questions for you about espn and Your time there and obviously you leaving there. So let's start here if i have my research. Correct your last day on. Espn campus as an employee was december. Twenty second even though you did some college football scientists afterwards. We are now in june. What of the last six months or so been like for you. you're right. It was december twenty. Second my last gig. I did was the fiesta bowl in arizona with dave pasch january. Check it then it was. I said that. I think i tweeted it out when i was finished up cleaning out my office. The last person i saw it was sitting in my office whereas my son might so i thought that was that was kind of a poetic justice. The last person. I see after working there for years as a kid who was ten years old when i first got the year prehensile. Ours are pretty wild but in all honesty richard. I have enjoyed this time off. I always knew. I was going to get back into something and like my agent. Basically told me when when it ended in january and finished. She said listen. You had the choice of doing absolutely nothing things think you know. I'm not gonna lie thing. Things went well from that aspect. He said you could do nothing. He said you can just do partial things that you enjoy or you can jump back in with both feet and had it and he said you can decide and do whatever you want so i knew to sell as my wife said you know. I'm fifty fifty eight. So when i was done i just turned fifty eight and she said you're not gonna want to not do anything. Just sit around. So i'm going to do something but i did take a sweet old dan time in in getting there because i did enjoy probably took me three weeks to get out of the four fifteen. Wake up mode So i i. I've normalized like seven thirty quarter to eight. Now which has been nice. I go to bed later. Unbelievably i've been watching the nba playoffs and actually watching be ten ten thirty game in its entirety. Something i was never able to do while i was doing morning show so i have been doing a lot you know. We sold our place in connecticut that we lived there for obviously decades couple of decades. And i have a house right on Right by notre dame campus that the kids love to come to during the season. And i have a place in scottsdale. So chris and i my wife will jump back and forth between there. We've done that already. And i at this point. So i've done nothing but go on podcast and chose and things like that At this point. I'm i'm deciding between a couple of different podcasts. Things a couple of different college football things and something that i think will be a lot of fun. Richard a it. It's not in. The sports world will involve some sports people. It will involve travelling to their hometowns. Possibly that's something that's still kind of in the works but that that's one of those things that my agent talked about doing those fun things. Bundy has been college football. I love doing it. And i'll do it again just a matter with who and this other project if it goes and i should find out pretty soon. I was hoping to have banned by the time you and i were able to do. This unfortunately It's it's getting there but not just yet. I think that's going to be a lot of fun. And then you know the world run now. We're doing right now. It's a world the podcast. I'll jump into that as well so you're timeframe then is i mean you're fairly. You're fairly close to having something that you'll do. Look let's call it on a regular basis. Yes the reason being and you would not anybody in this industry knows you're going to get going. You better be by football season. You know that. That's the mother of all season. So this is mrs kind of basically the time the downtime as you. When i was doing radio is right when nba was ending. And i know. I believe it's going a little longer than what it normally done. But usually the nba had ended around the second or third week of june and we had basically that month month and a half until the nfl camps. Scott going and that was kinda that dead time but by middle end of july early august. You better get going and better be doing something and i plan on being by there was a thought of maybe doing a little early. But i'm not gonna lie. I have enjoyed kind of having my own schedule and and doing nothing. I i have enjoyed it. But you know i. I do miss talking. I was doing a bunch of interviews for a company around the super bowl. And every time i would finish my wife would be like you need to get back into this. You know you just you have. You have too much to say. And i'm sick of being the only one listening to it so i am joe. I have taken my time but but by by football or before a beagle. Don't want to play amateur psychologist here but was was. Did you feel like it was important for you and your family to leave connecticut and to move away from the the area of bristol and almost start a new. Is that why part of the reason you move. I know you're notre dame guy no you love that part of the world. But i did feel like you had to get out of there just because you're you wanna psychological Disconnection to you mean it being started to move and no no no. We did not think that it was. Just you know we had the place in connecticut. We had the place here. Where i'm at notre dame we got the bison scottsdale that's three. I didn't need more shell. You know the toughest part was you know. Mike is right there In in west hartford he was fifteen minutes. Must and jake and my son jake and his wife. Jenny and my daughter said the her fiance ben. We're all in boston. So that was the one great thing about it but but the thing we can always do is we will get like. We're going to wait to see where everybody's shuttles within the next six months or a year. Where are they then. And then if everybody is still back east we can go get an apartment or condo backyard just to have a place to drop the bags and be able to see everybody..

"Surly Mo- speaks to the media weighs in on the terrible decision. We thought we love the Court of Arbitration is sport. We have turned on them. Even though they exonerated Chelsea from their earlier transfer ban as we mentioned, they botched this one neutral observer Chris Wittingham Manchester City get off on the technicality that this falls out of the five year window, amongst other reasons, which I'm sure you're neutral, self will get into in a little bit, but if this attitude of limitations clause always existed, why would you even try? Try Them I. Don't know and that's kind of the question that a lot of people are waiting for the full report, and yes, there will be a full report. Put Out, and I will read it, and it'll be a lot of legal ease, but I think one of the things that happened here. We can play jobs as comments is the way that it got reported in the way that in general like what happened with Chelsea I think a lot of people just believed assumed that the allegations against him. Him are true because of the manner in which they're reported the governing bodies doing investigation, they leaks the details of the meat, and they make you think man Chelsea guilty ascend Man City guilty as sin, but then they put in front of a neutral court, and the rulings get overruled and so I think the way that cities information if first off, it starts with the football league's e mails that get put out then there's details in the New York Times at their floating a two year ban and so. So immediately all the other clubs and the primarily start think all right well. They're guilty because when we putting this out if they weren't guilty, and so that kind of laid the groundwork and I think a lot of managers are reacting to well I, assume they going to be guilty, and you were going to have to deal with him in the champions. League and matter of really hurt their standing in club football, so Marino's comments. We can play them. They make no sense to me is a disgraceful decision. Because, if Nancy, CDs not guilty of it. I sink to be punished with some some million is. A disgrace as a decision..

"Jason Fitz infra trae sit with Mike Golic Mike Golic junior, and we have Tim Legler ESPN NBA analyst in studio. Tim, I know we want to get your thoughts on the Olympia team. But I do have to ask you one quick question from what you were talking about before the break. You were talking about Yoenis in his ineffectiveness in the last three games you used two words that stood out to me, exposed and blueprint. I ask you if he's not able to evolve his game has he been exposed in such a way that his effectiveness next year can be limited by the entire MBA not in the regular season. Because you. Just don't have time to prepare for the Milwaukee Bucks. When you've got you know four teams play before it after you got one game one walkthrough through one film session to discuss this is what we'd like to do. That's something that you have to like really go over and over and over and over and adjust game to game. That's why you'll see it maybe playoff series. Like you might see. An and the other thing you have to have the talent to be able to do it and a guy like coli who can get into him initially and make it tougher at the point of attack. So not everybody has those things playoffs though. Going forward, every time you get to the postseason you're going to be weighing like when is he going to run into this brick wall, if he doesn't find a way to solve that and it's not just at eighteen foot jumper because you can't get that anytime you want either to me. It's those plays where he gets inside the foul line, but he can't get to the rim. A shot with some touch, and some polish on it in that six to eight foot rage. He doesn't have that. That's what he needs to add more than anything even if he never becomes a big. Time deep shooter, which he may never you've gotta figure out a way to get something soft up on the rim. Where there's a bunch of traffic in the lane looking at the all NBA team, Yonathan hardware, unanimous joined by Steph curry Paul, George and Nikolai Yokich first real quickly, you have any issue with the first team. I the only the only I think legitimate debate there is Joel Embiid. Nikola yokich. I think that's a legitimate debate I think he'd got hurt got hurt in the voting because he missed time at the end of the year. And I also think fifty four wins for Denver in the west Trump's, fifty one in east refilling that so I thought that was debatable. Other than that. No. I, I said, probably January is this going to be year in which guys the two guys that we still kind of regard as the best players in the NBA? Neither guy makes first team LeBron. Right. And it turned out that way because of the years, the Paul George in Janas Durant, second team LeBron thirteen and beat second team. And then there's this, there's making the team and what it means that you can become get that supermax to, which, Rick. Anelle a Charlotte. Observer journalists said, I for what it's worth, I stopped voting on NBA awards when they became tied to the supermax contracts. Journalists have no business impacting the salaries of people..

"Jason Fitz in for tracing with Mike Golic Mike Golic junior and gentlemen, all the conversation about the all NBA team. And what it means financially. You know, Klay Thompson is absolutely the one name that really sticks out on this, because let's remember Klay Thompson is somebody that had he made the all NBA team would be eligible for a ton more money from Golden State, and instead he sort of found out in the moment. This is rare when you find out in the moment that you didn't win this prestigious honor. So this is this is clay finding out an answering a question about it. Yawn. Daddy came out today. I mean that's cool. But like. When you go to five. I respect those guys the holy. When you go straight. I mean, it takes more than just a couple of. All time team, but whatever is not gonna championship and be thirteen. So. This is what it is. I can't control it. I think there's. Many guards there. No. That's the reason I was still playing. So wanna get into it. Harry. Brings. You have to see to see his eye-roll when you know, when he's told Kemba Walker got there. And he didn't you just and then he said all the right things. You know, if you just hearing the audio of it rings are more important than money. And, you know, you could definitely tell he was aggravated by it without question. But the eye roll was was very, very evidence. Well, and the amount of money, that's I mean, I know that everybody, he's gonna get asked question that moment, I can't imagine finding out that your livelihood just changed drastically in the middle of the interview and handling. I wanna give a little credit there, because when you're finding out that your contract value just changed drastically and you've still got a handle the media correctly. That's that's good on clay big mad. You know what I give them credit for being very real in that moment. Like you saw human being realized that they got. I mean we all know that Claes obviously still going to be able to eat. And life is going to be all right for him. Yeah. But finding out that in a moment because of the wind. Gms of some people that you don't know you. I don't know what the difference was for him Karl. Anthony towns missed out in about thirty two million dollars. It was thirty million dollars for clay..

"It is way could take year audience be radio. Lebatardshow out today. Kurt you're gonna join us at eleven. Mike is up in New York. Mike. Are we expecting any special guests to come by the student? You're not where I was up in New York, which was right in the middle of the office, I was right by Jacoby desk. You seem to be in a much nicer place, then where I was up in New York City, they rolled out the red coleus terrible. Oh, oh man. It's been a long week long. We lots of travel, but I'm not in the cubicle where we put seeing Van Gundy in front of that window. They rolled out the red carpet. I'm here in the CNA. Smith. Studio is at a town will Cain is Atta town, and we have this fancy backdrop to really nice studio. I did not know you're in his studio smell, like, how is it? I just imagine he smells fantastic, the air conditioning is perfect. There is a sort of white ball of light when you walk in. In to the door, where he usually sits, relieves, his aura. I like to imagine that. There's just takes littered around the room hasn't used but that require him writing them down. And we know like any great battle rapper. Stephen a Smith is straight off the top. Mike is there anything from that studio that you feel like maybe you could bring home for me? I see a couple of items right behind your shoulder there. Like so. State coffee Cup the way that they do this. Studio is pretty amazing. I used to think that the Clevelanders sued ios worked at max efficiency, but all the radio shows Jalen and Jacoby. Stephen a Smith will Cain. They all emanate from the same room yet, if you watch them on TV it all looks like it's an different studio. They change each wall is a different studio. So it's pretty amazing in each wall has Bodos at our framed that are specific to that show and Jalen and Jacoby by far. The coolest wall is Jimmy Kimmel and Steven Naismith one there. There is a there's a photo of Bill Simmons. So I'm guessing that's the Jacoby Jacobean wall. Yeah. Yeah. Parliament. There's an older bastard, driver's license. I'm guessing the support of the Jalen and Jacoby set right now. But it's impressive do I look like I'm sitting in the middle of a white ball of light. Yes. You're glowing the best. You've looked I'm so mad at sue God's we can get into that later. Let's continue with wakened take I lied to it won't be the big time. Well, it was the first time and it won't be the last kid big time life. I mean bigger than usual, like no offence. I feel like this is kind of expected. Chalk it up as I forgot to do something more so than a lie. And you know, whatever. Times. Twice. I Bala just for no. Maybe maybe it was four, I don't know. I lost Razzi Kohl's Jimmy, Jimmy, you're on you take year on ESPN radio. Had yet. Jimmy line tenor. In the half. Court challenge say you got ten parts. You gotta hit the same putt that tiger hit on the eighteenth at the master's first part. Not the tappan crowds the same cameras are rolling. You get ten tries you make it everything comes along with being masters champion. If you miss all ten you never get to play another round of golf in your life. You taking the chance. How far was that putt? I'm thinking, I'm trying to think that right? The eighteenth all at Augusta this a couple of months like a couple of weeks ago, you're say. The first putty had, you know, you have missed that one. He hit the tap into win it, but the first one maybe fourteen fifteen footer downhill little, little slippery left or right? Right. But that's the putty missed, correct. Correct. That's the part you add any any tapped into win it. Right. So you're telling me, the fourteen fifteen footer eighteenth hole of Augusta? I get ten shots if I hit one time I get everything that comes along with being the masters champion if I miss it. I never play golf again. Correct. That is a great question ration. That is a great, great question..

"Jason Fitz in portrays it with Mike Golic, Michael junior your level of excitement is that you to realize that it's a superhero movies. So things are going to blow up and the good guys are going to win. Right. Like, I just don't I just hope. I could do without some of the ant man theories of gone around the internet. Let's just stay away from that one. But. Very excited. I am looking forward to it L honesty. But I am looking forward to the draft. I so for you guys. When is the first surprise whether by person pick not pick or trade that you guys think will happen. I mean, I genuinely I don't think is going to be the first overall pick. And I know everybody else that would be the biggest. I industry I wouldn't do it. I would not do a drive column. I keep Josh Rosen. But I don't think that's going to happen. But that would to me would be. And then if if that's not going to be is going to be the jets trading down is it going to be Oakland trading down. Or is it going to be Washington? Trading up into the top five if they really wanna quarterback. I think it's Oakland because whatever the jets do want surprise me. We had with us before said the worst kept secret in the world right now is that the jets wanna trade down in this draft? But if they took quitting Williams, none of us. It'd be all that surprised either. Obvious picks in the top three. What's going to surprise me? Whatever the raiders do just because starting at four they controlled to keep using this reference, but they had the most 0 stones on the table right now, you've got three first round picks and front office. That right now seems like it's kind of a volatile place. I I really I mean, I know maybe I'm just dying on a hill for no reason. But I disagree with everybody. I don't think they Kyla Mary goes I overall. And I think that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers absolutely should be in the market for a quarterback. So to me, I think the biggest prize in the top five is Kylie doesn't go first overall. But the Tampa Bay gets into the quarterback play. That's why I am while. On landing. Devon, Devon white. Yeah. They're definitely getting defense..

"Performance line. Mike golic. Mike Golic junior. Trey wingo here with you. We got a lot to get to coming up this hour. We got an a lot of college basketball to go through as we continue get set for the second half of the elite eight coming through tonight and the things that were happening. A last night. They got some teams to already, but I have to say it just warms the cockles of my heart. But see the two of you over there. Swinging a golf club talking about golf. I just feel like in some way, shape or form. I've had an influence on your life. Yeah. Well, I don't know if it's been you. But over the last couple of years you as of late I've been getting more and more into it. And I'll start playing a little bit more. It's called. It's a middle aged white guy, gene. About this time mutates at this point in your life, and it just automatically gravitates towards a golf a golf club. Has you start saying GMT more frequently when referencing your gin and tonic God? Yes. And after a nice nine holes a refreshing, gene, t sitting at the bar is just scrumptious. I didn't think I go down this road. But I'm starting to go down this road. I'm of tired of hearing you talk about how good you are. Darius Rucker talking about how good he is the guy. He's really good. He's real. Israel. I am going to take. I would say probably maybe by the end of the summer. I'll be better than both of you. Okay. All right. Yeah. Challenge. Extended going you're trying to learn golf the way I wanted to learn everything in college, which is by sleeping on top of the book and getting it through Osmo by hanging around trae every day and talking to Darius that you'll golf Osmo says yourself into being better. Listen respect the play if it works. It works. That's all the matter. So we're hopefully going to play a little golf this weaken a watch a little bit of the match-play. But of course, we have a lot to get into in the NCAA tournament, including the somewhat shoulder. Shrug question. Mark controversial end to the Tennessee Purdue game last night. Well, I mean, this is a game. If you didn't see that Purdue control. I mean, Tennessee had the lead a minute and twenty one into the game three two two. And that didn't take the lead again until five minutes ago in the game. And all the way to the point where they had a three point lead with five minutes ago. And then this game was tied up before grant Williams, put back dunk with eight seconds to go. Now, all of a sudden, Tennessee. She comes all the way back and is leading this game by two there's a couple of seconds left. And everybody is looking for Carson Edwards for Purdue out of. I think they wanted to be inside. I it was an inbound right under the basket looking inside. But then got close to the five second count for the inbounding the ball got it to Edwards. He put up a shot. They Turner comes down from trying to block it and catches Carson Edwards in the body. Saw foul is called. So Carson Edwards with one point seven seconds to go steps in line his team down to with three free throws. You wanna talk about singing home washing? Oh, my God the pressure. All you do all year all the practices all the free. Throws everything you try and do now it comes down to advance in the tournament. You have to make at least two of them to keep going on. And that's exactly what he did. He made two out of the three. It goes to overtime where Purdue takes control and ends up. Getting the win. They were the better team last night. Definitely deserved. The win. From start to finish. I mean, it was one of those that it being as close as it was at the end of the game was a testament to Tennessee. And all the great things that we had heard about Rick Barnes, and Admiral Scofield and the mental makeup of this team. Who else would you want in that situation? You know as a teammate, that's all you could ask for we talked about this before and the pressure situations that you find yourself into in sports, which would you most and least like to be a part of. Well, the one thing you always want. Is you always want your best guy like as a team sitting there and looking at Carson Edwards on the line? You had to be going. All right. That's the guy like we're moving on. There's the utmost confidence in someone like that. Because you know, he's a star for you in every aspect. That's why we brought up before. And you mentioned this in all the situations. Whether it's a five foot putt to win the masters, whether it's a penalty kicking soccer or hockey or whether it's a field goal in the NFL like at least with that. I've seen you produce every pressure setting for Fuego kicking. Now. That's all you got. That's right. One thing. It's your one moment. And it got Cody parkey out of Chicago this past playoff. Yeah. But but to the point about the end of that game. There was the foul or not foul and people have been split on this. Rick Barnes, the Tennessee coach was asked after the game. Whether or not he thought that was a foul, and he basically said, yeah, I don't see what the issue is. It was a foul. You know, the shot he missed the shot and Lamont they hit him after the shot, and that's a tough play. Because again, we knew what I think actually they were trying to work something inside was close to a five second Cowboys even think they got that in. No, they got him because I saw it. But. Being a competitor. That he is. I went up and the ball was gone. It was three feet out his hand when he when he hit him. And we know the rule you got allow the shooter to come back down, and it's a tough one. Because in that situation. We know we can't foul there. They've got to make shot at we wouldn't have been in the situation to come back to that game. If it wasn't for a long time. All right. So that was Rick Barnes. He didn't think it was a found that we had Seth Greenberg on earlier in the day. And we asked him whether or not or he was a foul excuse me, we asset whether or not he thought that was a foul committed by Tennessee. And here was his opinion. He's been he's been historic on. Each must see TV just wrong here. We in real time. I saw his leg out. And then when they showed a replay. I said, no right call you gotta give them a place slaying. But that's just a rolling. He took out his hips. And when you get into the hips, not the leg, it's a foul in, you know, it's a tough tough way. I mean, they still had a chance after that obviously going into overtime. Well, that's the thing. You're overtime. Obviously. It's back. It's kind kinda like that NFC championship game as bad as that non call. Was you going overtime? Everybody has a chance. Again. This thing's all even down. Yeah. And that's where usually well. The other thing with that is usually at that point the better team ends up willing out you had your chance your stat fair. And that's why Tennessee even though they're not saying publicly. I'm sure feels job a little bit behind closed doors. I'm sure they do at some point. But the other thing if you missed our interview with Seth Greenberg. Go check out the entire interview.

I wish I knew that wild kitchen phase pretty crazy back. You know, I do like to cook come over sometime dinners. Yeah. See that's out works that doesn't mean he wants to come. You just want to know if he was invited. So he could turn you down fast. Frank next word should be suspended for tripping Zion. Williamson lover show them. Yeah. I'm gonna shove this one too. I it's got a strong reaction from our own Jay Williams last night who said he should be suspended all these different things at the end of the day. It's the first time we've seen this out of Frank Howard. So we put that in the box. It didn't actually hurt anyone. Now, you wanna punish the action and not the result? But overall, I think it's a lot about nothing. And if it wasn't Zion. We would not be talking about it right now. Bingo. Nascar lovers shove it. Go can WinCo brought to you by Grainger. North Carolina will sweep Duke this season lover showed that one's tough because North Carolina has been the better team and right now like top to bottom North Carolina's play incredibly, well, but Zaim was so good. I just can't see it. I beaten beaten this do team three times really difficult for me. No disrespect to North Carolina. Who I think is the top team in the country. I just have a hard time seeing this. So I'm going to shove it, but I don't feel good about it. Yeah. I'm going to have to seven as well. And I hate it. It because I really want and do to have this, but return like meeting Carolina and all that stuff. But again, North Carolina has been on cruise control. And I think they're going to be out there to try to prove that, hey, guys where legit with or without Zay on on the other end. But Zayn will have the last laugh. What I'm gonna love it on this one complete inside out. Luke maye gave them a lot strong paint presents now zion's gonna help change that. But they've got Kobe white to go up against trade Jones on the perimeter. They've got Cameron Johnson. So I just think there's such a complete group all over and they shoot better than Duke mostly interesting stat when RJ Barrett and Zaire on their production is about half production. No team in the NCAA history has one in that circumstance a championship. So they will need the supporting cast. Dave Gettleman is a bigger villain in New York and James Dolan, love it or seven all that is tough lousy. That is tough. But I'm going to I'm going to love it. I'm gonna love, and I know that sounds weird. But I think the Knicks have been bad for so long. The Knicks have just been a dumpster fire for just such a long time. We have to remember there's a Super Bowl winning quarterback still on the giants. The giants have some sort of expectation that when things go, right? They can be a Super Bowl caliber team. So feels I get them in sort of ripping the heart out of something that actually has a chance as opposed to Dolan. Just, you know, the Knicks are always helpless, and for me, it seems like an actually wants this like when you think about James Dolan, it's been questionable about how much says he loves sports in general. I think music as is true passionate love. So when that type of stuff is up for grabs. How bad why do your fans care more than you? And you own the team balance. Yeah,.

"In for trade with Mike Golic senior, Mike Golic junior. Mike, we waited all we gave you all show to come clean on your own. But scripted an apology. I'm bombed nominee Wigan. I'm not gonna read from a prepared station choice. Comes from the heart. So this is I am actually mean this. And I am sorry. Because listen, you know, me and food, especially sweets. I said early this morning because somebody who tweeted it out with coming off the Oreo most stuff for what you know, which was most stuff with one. Yeah. Godsend? There was a picture of an Oriel Oreo container with Oreo Twix, and between was actually the mixture of the cream was the mixture of Oreo of what Twix is. And I said, oh my God. You know? I went nuts on that's an I can't wait to try it and people are saying all it's great other to say, no, I'm not gonna try. It turns out that's fake. Wow. That hurts me by fake out. I did if we can't believe news. Like, what can we believe? I'm hoping if it truly is fake. And I believe it is that Oriole will still go ahead and make one. Weird is none of this is sounded like an apology. I'm sorry. I let you out. I sorry. I let everybody on to believe that. There was a limited edition Oreo Twix cookie. I apologize for that. And I do mean it. But I'm more bomb than feeling apologized. Everybody more bummed that there really isn't that. I couldn't have gone out and found today. The cookie community are kind of like in the NBA where the jersey at. It's become a thing right now. Everyone's putting their jersey jersey on Anthony Davis. Everyone wants to dress an Oreo up in their preferred candy of choices jersey. So I think it's kind of understandable. It's an easy place to get tricked. I don't understand the mindset of the person male or female that the that comes in is like, you know, what I wanna do. I'm gonna create I want to spend time on Photoshop creating a fake Oreo just to get people. Like that why it's the mind if you that's a sick individuals. What it is and should be banned from ever buying cookies again once they find out who it is. If you could tell Oriole, and they would do it one inside the cookie the stuff in that. You would like what would it be the stuffing inside the cookie claim? What would they already do like fun Feddie? That's the thing. I mean, there's so many that they've ride if we're gonna if we're gonna utilize our one request Oreo not to change. Anything other than the packaging all asking? For is this an entire centerpiece, a large centerpiece that runs up and down. That's a trough of just filling and the little side cookies that I can dip in dunker rue dunker Ruth. Exactly, right. To be able to just like scoop all of the felon. I feel like you can't undermine the Oreos like shape though, like the integrity of the Orioles. What makes it different is? What makes it a cook? Tonight spin though. Spoon the Phil. And again they've done. So many limited editions a different flavors. So I don't know if they've done this. But I think I would go birthday cake birthday cake would be a good one. Yeah. I mean, if we're going to go down this path to like, candy bars, like a recess peanut butter cut version where you've got I mean, you would have the chocolate on the outside all you need. And I'm sure they don't have they done peanut butter Oreos. Yes. But if I want if I wanna reese's peanut butter Cup, which is an American treasure. I'm just saying I give me a little newgen in there. So a lot of people might have been upset or board with the Super Bowl because it was the patriots again. It was the patriots again. Yes. A third championship in five years. I think it was fifty one forty nine and fifty three, and so, you know, their sixth overall their ninth under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in that era, by the way, that's the only way to describe. This is the only three people have been a part of this thing. It's ballot. Check Brady and Robert cross it out the owner. That's it by the way, still has the moves dance with Cardi B does solid. So that that's probably leading a lot to this. So, you know, there's also all kinds of fatigue. I think people might be having another sports for example, what album Clemson right year, Alabama, Clemson one year Georgia came in there. But Alabama Clemson been the playoffs. They met in the playoffs four straight years three times in the title game. And then in the NBA, it's Golden State, Golden State, golden say Golden State, Golden State, and or whatever team LeBron was playing for maybe this year. Yeah. "Mike Golic, Trey wingo here with you junior has left us. He's hopping on a plane, and we'll be joining them shortly later on today. Just think how our thinking about this listening to Tom Brady and Bill Belichick speak at yet another Super Bowl opening night. What was once media day, but thinking years ago when they were first starting out in this, and we were getting into this going to the old media day for the Super Bowls and just how crazy they were really calm down awful lot because they were really out of hand. Whether it was a player trying to really kind of open up or do something crazy to the wacky woman at a wedding dresser kids, we still get the kids doing the interviews. But just a crazy stuff that you got from all the media descending. I wherever the Super Bowl site was it has definitely taken a tamer tamer look now. It has changed. I mean, I think they're trying to dress up in more of a prime time event, and sort of structure it a little differently now, you still get your sort of random things, but you're right, Mike. It used to be insane. Describe you used to have. Freak show and during the week you'd have a player or two for for one of the other teams getting some kind of trouble or do something kind of crazy. And and yeah, that that all that stuff is just just kind of gone by the end, I get it. I mean, the last thing you wanna do is bring any attention really to yourself or make other people have to answer questions about you. But boy, it is really really really changed. "Pennzoil performance line. Mike Golic, Trey wingo here with you. We're getting set for the divisional round, which we will do a deep dive in tomorrow on Friday show, breaking on all four games extensively were also in the middle of the hiring process here in the NFL. And of course, the big news yesterday was that. Kingsbury was named as the head coach with the Arizona Cardinals. It looks like Adam gaze is going to be the new head coach of the jets and Matt leflore is the new head coach to the Green Bay Packers. We're also renaming state paired states because there was an actual petition sent to the president to merge, North Dakota and South Dakota and call it mega mega Khotan, really cool. So we have decided the New England area needs to become one. Yes. And Jusitce Connecticut. Vermont New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, whatever all of them, we got and we need a name for it. And that we need to do it to North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia West Virginia. Yeah. So we need names. Sweet Caroline seems to be a good one. That's a good one for the Carolina friend of ours is freaking out juries satis about that. But. Hey content. So there you go. Speaking of context, speaking and furious. Yeah. Joined by stugotz from the Dan Le Batard show with stugatz, Mike. I'm really proud of us because we we shot him out this past weekend. Yeah. We did close the deal. It's been amazing how well we've done and how poorly I mean, I have seen Stu gods. Go over for long stretches of times, and and for him to do it yet again and really opened the door for us. It's been great stew. So we appreciate it as we are now joking. We took the basically we got smoke last week. You were there are seven games left for this weekend to next week and one Super Bowl seven games. Still you had a five game lead on us for those. That may not know the bet between our two shows Ryder Cup style golf tournament. It's going to be down at stews golf course in Miami. Loser has to pay for the entire golf outing for both teams here. So right now, we are five games down seven to go. You got to be feeling. Pretty good about yourself. I'm feeling great about myself. I'm feeling even better because wasn't last week. I just lucky guys a voicemail, I was on vacation. But I was watching the show, and I saw you guys laughing and mocking my peg we wanted we wanted all the picks. We don't feel bad about. Yeah. We work, right? Yeah. You were thrilled thrilled with by pegs at dry said. Hey, just trying to keep it interesting. He's really a genius. No genius. Listen. Here's what the lights me the most about this. I am proving that I know more about the NFL than a guy who played the NFL and the guy who hosts the draft in the hall of fame in trying to how about that. Or you've had a good two weeks. But run with it. Run reminds you that I will remind the audience that I started last year making picks on our show. I started wanting sixteen. I am a I am having a lucky couple of weeks. The listen I'm thinking about making if you guys are behind by enough. I'm thinking about making the Super Bowl kind of like a money bomb. You know, like the moneyball not three point challenge. Oh, yeah. You guys win that game. Perhaps perhaps you can climb all the way back. Let's being being listened. We got six games before that. Let's wait and see where we are. We'll get to the picks and you have to go I in every pick. We'll get to though, I will say the one thing actually killed me Saturday because I'm watching the Cowboys up twenty four to fourteen. Yeah. We took the colts Texans. Like, we're going to go to for two out of the gate that back door two point conversion absolutely crushed me. You should ask Jeff Saturday, and Tim Hasselbeck were watching the games getting ready to do primetime. And they're like, why are you so upset about the two point conversion, I'm like, you don't understand. You don't understand came? Game. By the way. That is funny. And there's no one in the history of the league that I trust more with the back door cover. The Russell Wilson. Go. Oh. All right. You're all happy and smile, and now let me see if I can bring you down Adam gates new head coach and New York Jets go I think you'll be surprised by this Mike. I think I think you're going to be surprised I'm not that upset I've always said the quarterback is more important than the goat. So this really gets down to is Sam darnold. Good. It is good. Adam gaze is going to be a good coach for the giants. If he's not good, then Adam gates won't be the head coach very long to me that simple the NFL. But here's the funny thing biking to get your thoughts. Adam gays three years ago was the coveted guy. He was the offense of mine. He was the guy who was in charge of a Bronco offense and scored more points put up more yards than any team in the history of the NFL. He was the guy he was the covenant guy. And he actually did a decent job down here with the dolphins. When you consider tannehill was always injured he made the playoffs. Once they were right around five hundred. There's not a ton of town on that team Nike blame gays for that. But Mike, this is this is the funny thing I want your thoughts on. This three years ago. Adam gates was the young hotshot offense coordinator ready to be a head coach teams wanted to hire him and three years later. He no longer is that and so everyone's mocking the jets for this bag. But now, I think Adam gates that was three years of head coaching experience under his belt. He's only going to get better at that job with more time with more experience. I happen to think this is a good higher. But Mike, I'm interested in your thoughts on why a guy who three years ago was the coveted guy. Now, no longer it that doesn't make any sense to me. Well because he went down to Miami. And didn't have the success everybody thought he would have now. But but I said it'd be any eliminate what he did with the Broncos Mike, that's my Peyton Manning. Was there not gloss over? That fact, you you Peyton Manning was was already a hall of fame quarterback. He had to go develop Ryan tannehill which didn't happen. Now. Some of that was tannehill getting hurt. And so what what people saw was well that didn't go all that well from the quarterback position. And now. He's in charge of our young quarterback and Sam darnold real quickly though. I don't mind the higher. I'm a fan of Adam gates, but I worry a little more than just the quarterback. Remember, he's head coach and a whole team. And while he was in Miami. They were thirtieth in the league from two thousand sixteen now in penalties. They were twenty twenty-fourth in turnovers. They were last in third down conversion they were last in opponent yards per rush. So it wasn't just about we got to. We have the remember these guys are head coaches over an entire team. I know we focus on the quarterback. I get it. I understand that. But how important is the cliff Kingsbury assistant coaching hires out in Arizona. I mean, there is more the quarterback is the magnified position. I get it. But I think he's struggled and other areas down there as well. All that said, I do like the higher. I think he's going to bring some energy to that locker. It will be interesting because he can be feisty with that New York media a little bit as well. But but I I am kind of. And God knows he's. Own the jets boy reach you guys. What five times in his tenure there? So he knows how to do Dax times now. Yeah. Yeah. You beat them five hundred six that's and that's part of why the jets were attracted to him plus Sam Dr Peyton Manning made it call you read the reports made a call. This is the guy to hired. So listen, it's all about Sam darnold. It's all about the offense in the NFL and off site is three years ago. Adam gays was the offensive guru. He was the guy that everyone when he was shopping McVay three years ago. He really was. And so now the jets have that guy with three years of head coaching experience under his belt and a different place on actually it's weird. Oddly excited about Adam gates becoming the jets head coach. I don't know why I have no idea, but nothing else has worked guys. So maybe this will we'll see what happens. Look the best thing. You have going for us to God's is. With us is a Peyton Manning mayday call. And apparently, according to our Florida man, Jeff Darlington made an impassioned plea for Adam gates like you said, he's pretty good. So so yeah that should be enough. Now, we've been talking to lots to God's this morning about the Murray situation he's going to declare for the draft. I believe he's going to be drafted in the first round. And then you had cliff Kingsbury who when he was Texas Tech. It goes in October. You'll throwing flowers Adam before a game against Oklahoma saying he'd be able to make him the first roll pick in the draft which makes us interesting because the Arizona Cardinals do have the first overall draft Adam Schefter, not too long ago on get up in sports center says it's not implausible that they would draft Kyla Murray number one overall and potentially shop. Josh rosen. Your thoughts. On that whole process. I think the whole thing is fascinating. I actually loved the higher the Arizona Cardinals. We haven't spent this much time talking about the Arizona Cardinals and our entire lives for that reason alone. I think that this is a good higher. Like, I always say if you're going to be boring, you're gonna be bad, you might as well be interesting at cliff Kingsbury is everything made an interesting higher alone makes them interesting. And now the Kyle Murray stop and his feud with with Baker Mayfield. So we don't know in the NFL we really don't like guys we thought that we're going to be great coaches started out to not be in guys. We had no idea that we're going to be great end up being great coaches as far as Cuyler Murray's concerned. I've always said I played baseball over football. But listen to get to get a guaranteed thirty billion dollars. If he gets drafted number one overall. And I heard you guys talking about this. I think this is the more interesting part of it. What do you do with Josh Rosen? And are there teams that are going to be willing to trade their first round pick to get Josh ruins of Mike? I heard you say that you would keep Josh Rosen. Is that is that is that Accu? Oh, I'm saying I would not draft Carla Murray. Josh Rosen me and my quarterback. And I would go on the they have to build so much of that team around there. I'm not picking Kyla Murray. Saying oh my God. This guy is going to be so much better than what Josh Rosen was that? I'm gonna take him now in trae Josh Rosen, even though you'll get assets form. No, I'm keeping Josh Rosen. My quarterback and not drafting collar Murray, but Mike if you could take Cuyler Murray number one overall and your new head coach the guy who's in charge. He was pretty good with quarterback that a pretty good job with Patrick Mahomes in college and is a pretty good offense of mine. If you can if you can get Murray and had take Josh Rosen and take a for a first round peg to me that makes sense if the coach the guy who hired the offense of behind the quarterback guru doesn't. They Josh Rosen is very good or things collar Murray is going to be great. I have no issue with that. But Mike I want to ask what ask both of you guys. If you think these teams would be willing to trade their round pick for Josh Rosen. Yes. I think accident Jacksonville Jaguars. Yes. The New York Giants, maybe. But I think they might like Dwayne Haskins at six may not they may not need to get Josh Rosen. That's a good point. But Mike may a really good point where Josh Rosen is an unfair situation. Can't really judge them. You put him with saquon Barkley Odell Beckham junior. That's a pretty good hopper. A young quarterback that could be interesting there. I haven't the Redskins maybe because we don't know what's going on with Alex Smith. I mean that injury. I know they said he could possibly come back for it. But I would certainly be keeping my eye on a new quarterback just to miester guts. This is a this is a what's perceived to be as as last year was a rich quarterback draft this is perceived to be a somewhat we quarterback draft. So I think a lot of teams. Yeah. Would have a lot of interest in Josh Rosen last year, not so much the situation. But Petit your point Lena just last year. Josh Rosen was a top ten pick. And it didn't quite work out for a variety of reasons. Much in the same way you okay with Adam gates because it didn't work out in Miami. For a variety of reasons, I might have been beyond his control. I make Josh Rosen will be a hot commodity in this. I do as well..

"Mike Golic, Trey wingo here with you for the second time in three years. It is but Clemson Tigers over the crimson tide. Mike. Again, as we've been talking about all morning. It's not shocking that comes in one the game though. Most people didn't pick them to win the game. The shopping part is the beatdown. And and that's what it was. That's what I was. This was a twenty eight point game. And it was a twenty eight point game. I think the reason we kept everybody would maybe it would have turned it off earlier. But it's Bama we saw Obama come back from down twenty eight fourteen in the SEC championship game. We know they have firepower. So you just waited for that, you waited for that. And what you saw was at every turn comes and knock them down. You saw Alabama make some mistakes you saw Alabama. Then makes get some frustrating penalties that six penalties in this game. Couple of personal fouls comes at one penalty in this game. Now, I'll say it again, you know, the with age comes a whole lot of wisdom league. So talking before the game where everybody is talking about the keys in her. So many things to talk about Xs and os wise with these teams, but he said red zone efficiency. And again, it's not rocket science. You want to go in there and have good red zone efficiency. But he talked about being the difference in the game. Alabama four trips. One touchdown Clemson six trips. Four touchdowns. They put it in the end zone. I mean, they got the job done. Brent Venables a D coordinator called a great day a game to a tongue to a tongue. Bylaw? Got fooled on a couple of post snap. Reeds for two interceptions. Didn't see a blitz. Common. Almost cost him. Another fumble. Clemson just had the answer every single turn. And oh, by the way, it helps when you have a great quarterback can Trevor Lawrence true, great receivers in Higgins and Justin Ross Ross are both six four by the way, enter unbelievable athletes. So it helps when you have the athletes and they have every bit the athletes at Alabama has. And they just flat out outplayed them and out muscle them as well on. Both lines of scrimmage yet with age comes with him. But with youth comes ability Trevor Lawrence as a freshman was absolutely sensational. Three hundred forty seven yards three touchdown passes. It was unbelie. Todd Blackledge called the game for us on ESPN radio with John McDonough, and he was surprised that Clemson was able to push Alabama around. I've watched Alabama play a lot of football games. I don't know that I've ever seen a team dominate them. At the line of scrimmage the way Clemson did deny the since defensive line control the action and their offense of lying control the action.

College Football Playoff Rankings: UCF jumps Ohio State, moves to No. 9 as top eight holds

"Lot of moving at least as far as college. Football's concern, you look at the latest rankings the first movement that we notice as UCF moving up a couple of spots to number nine, but the top eight all the same Mike Leach coach of number eight Washington state and earlier on ESPN radio was asked how much he discusses the rankings with his team. We don't talk about it, all, you know. I mean because of. Really had any impact on our season. I mean, everybody get ahead. Head kicked in. I forget the games we play. We played eleven games survey thought, we're going to get our grade or so and and we did. So then so if we listened to that stuff, then we wouldn't have worn the games we have. And so listen to it. Now, it's not gonna help us win there. You know? I mean, the best thing we can do is just just to have a great practice tomorrow. Is we're getting ready for Washington in Washington. Yeah. Washington's a great football team. And they're loaded up, and you know, they dumped people in the NFL every year. So we gotta go out there and play good Mike Leach coach of Washington state, which hold steady at number eight in the rankings, the four playoff teams are still the same Georgia, Oklahoma number five and six then there's that bunching of LSU Washington state and UCF at seven eight nine earlier on ESPN radio Jason Fitz and Mike Golic junior and dad, I'm a little surprised that Washington state didn't jump LSU for whatever that would mean again. But I was surprised at that LSU. I think they they played rights hammered rice. It was and Washington state put it at fifty five at halftime. I resort in Washington state has been looking really good. I thought they should've jumped up at least past LSU, and this one I think to that extent. Like, this is a little bit of the committee telling us that the larger body of work they've made up their mind. They have a good

Mike Golic Jr. talks ESPN and the NFL

"Really excited today to talk to one of my favorite people in sports media. He doesn't unbelievable job. It's hard to actually turn on ESPN radio and not hear it went one AM when it's eight AM on it's noon. I, I swear. There's some days there where he goes for like fourteen straight hours. It's really, really impressive. He's Mike Golic, junior had an outstanding career. Nerd aim was in the NFL for a while and guy. I got to know a little bit gosh along time ago. Now, at this point, Mike, what's up, man? How are you. I'm doing good Ross. I appreciate it. Man. It's been. It's been nice. Listen, the one thing I learned and know Frank Verduci a mutual friend of ours and former coach brought us together for one thing I learned from you. Basically, everyone else in footballers can do, and I'm sure that no matter what I'm doing a lot. So it's a lot harder for ESPN to fire me if they ever start to get wise to that start to think otherwise. Yes. So give me the breakdown. So are you still doing like the cold first and last still? Yup. So I got first and last four to six. AM the last month has been sort of weird because you know in radio, the summer is not really a big ratings bonanza. So they tell everyone take their time off, which means that I end up doing it a lot. So I get to fill in for dead and trae on golick a window when they're out. I've been filling in the Dan lebatardshow for us on ESPN which is ten AM to noon eastern to one eastern. And so I kinda just find myself in a lot of different spots over the last few weeks of the summer and. Try and make myself useful man opportunities. There are few and far between so you make sure they're, they're dot apart woman. I have a six AM radio show, so I got crazy respect for you having a four to six show, but are you not? Are you not on golick and wingo with your dad and trae every day anyway. Yeah. So I do two hours with them every day. I go that four to six for me. It's so radio there. So I got two hours by myself before they get started. And then I go over there with them for the first two hours of their show sort of bridge that morning gap, you know, dead and Traer both, you know, fifty five plus year old guys.

Roberto Osuna makes Houston Astros debut, tosses perfect eighth inning against San Francisco Giants

"ESPN, app Allegra, Pilion this morning for Mike Golic junior Kennedy talk a little bit about the New York Jets and their quarterback situation. Sam, darnold get a chance to show what he can do in a real game on Friday meanwhile the big, question hovering over New York Giants camp is the contract status of Odell Beckham junior his representation leaving giants camp yesterday without a deal getting. Done because impart the giants have pegged Beckham's market value at. A total annual average salary lower then she's wide receiver Sammy Watkins according to. Our Josephine Anderson here's the latest on Odell Beckham junior's contract situation from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter got a, situation here where both sides want to get. This done before the start of, the regular season both sides are motivated, to get it done and when the deal is done assuming that they can work it out I would imagine it would make him the highest paid wide receiver in the game because you could dress up a deal to look any way you want in really come down. To the structure the deal and the guarantee Right but the big thing for the giants and for Odell Beckham mystic get that deal done to give him that long term security these sought after that the fellow wide receivers from his draft already have gun Adam Schefter on the six. PM sports, center, last night. Talking. About the Odell Beckham junior contract situation and I've I've read some some reports that people believe this is trending in the right. Direction which is which, is all well and good but I'm I'm I'm sorry If I'm Odell Beckham junior's, agent and, the giants say well we're going. To give Odell, a salary That's a total annual average salary less. Than that of Sammy Watkins I'm not just leaving I'm laughing in their. Faces and, then I'm leaving Sammy Watkins is nice player got a contract. From the Kansas City Chiefs last year Sammy Watkins had seventy catches for five hundred ninety three yards he has one account a. One thousand yard season, twenty had a really good year and thirteen games just over one thousand yards, nine, touchdowns nice player but it's Sammy Watkins I think, the Kansas. City Chiefs, overpaid him. And and yet you know to to bring him into the, conversation with, Odell Beckham junior. Who is in the conversation among those. Being the best wide receiver in the NFL that is ludicrous ludicrous and I get it it's a. Negotiation and you gotta start from somewhere and okay so the giants. Up their asking price. I mean I I get, it it's gotta start. From somewhere and you know you're probably gonna low ball the guy I. Mean I, understand but if if our motel Beckham junior Afam Odell Beckham. JR junior's age I'm sitting down I'm trying to get a deal done what would be the highest paid wide receiver in the. NFL I'm watching this, wide receiver market explode And you mentioned the name Sammy Watkins it only better be because he's, among the names whose salaries will be dwarfed by what I'm about to get or what I'm about to get for my client owed l. Beckham junior and Sammy Watkins, are not in the, same stratosphere not, even is not even in the same. Conversation. If I'm talking about best wide receivers. In the, NFL, no-one's Mel yes. Sammy Watkins that's not even. A name you, pull out to sound really, really smart. And nothing, against him. Again nice player valuable player you know maybe helps out the, Kansas City, Chiefs this year. But I'm sorry Beckham junior's agent and. I'm looking at those numbers and the comp in other the comparable dollar amount is to Sammy Watkins We are laughing at the New York Giants First and. Last on ESPN radio and the ESPN app all is last night on what was happening with the Houston Astros who have Roberto Osuna who joined his teammates on Sunday and met with them in Los Angeles and had what by all accounts was a productive meeting with his new team-mates Roberto soon as the controversial pitcher whose obtained at. The trade deadline from the Toronto Blue Jays he made his Astros debut last night in San. Francisco in a game against the giants here thanks to our. Friends at KB EMMY not a seven ninety AM is audio of. Roberto, Osuna entering the game in San Francisco one nothing giants spot them of the eighth inning and Roberto Ceuta the new Astro making his Astros debut his first pitch to Alan Hansen pinch. Hitter is. A strike on the outside corner. All right there was a smattering of boos I guess you really couldn't. Hear, him that much in the background, ozone ah for his part on the. Mound did his job pitching a one-two-three inning First pitch. And that's.

"Many people. Talking about it Sam darnold, a lot of people that. Was going to be the number one pick but, he's the guy not controversial guy if Baker mayfield's doing this people are losing their minds those debate shows people are screaming at each other But it's not. As Sam darnold who's doing something I think. Kind of foolish an immature get to, camp they have to, other quarterbacks get, to camp don't do things the compromiser, availability and you won't have to worry about the money being taken away first and, last on ESPN radio and the ESPN. App it's football at five, four Mike Golic junior Philadelphia. Eagles players are, confused and I'm probably with them They had a presentation put forth by NFL referees about the new.
