"Honestly, cortines an amazing time to to reflect on that and you know there's this poet. I'm a writer. You know so. You're envious of other writers. But but. Those are just my own appetites. There's this person Dane Smith who. Has Written this incredible book called Homey I. Been I as I was leaving the house from Brooklyn to go to Mexico City took. Four or five books with me, and this writer is not only putting down some really lacerating poetry early on in their career, but. There in Minneapolis like Minneapolis and so Dane Smith is like walking around Minneapolis Kinda like document on Day. One I was like. Wait my favorite poet like the most essential poet. You know working right now is on the ground with a mask on documenting and like getting resources out to people and so. That's the kind of. Responsibility that I think if artists and writers do have any responsibility at all I. think that's sort of what my vein is when you're kind of looking at. Riders kind of coming out of a Latin, American tradition or like a black American tradition. It's not just I'm graduating from MFA program, and I'm like reading my carefully sculpted versus over here and Mike Garrett Department at an artists colony, but you know I'm an Omnivore and I'm working on poetry and essays and book reviews and. I mean. We know Langston. Hughes is a poet, but if you think about the buddy flick of Langston, Hughes and Zora Neale, hurston driving around the American south. Writing Stories of regular people's lives and filing dispatches to gazettes back up in the north. That's kind of. You know that's that's a. that's the work of a writer and so to think that an incredible. Poet is there active on the ground kind of documenting the the the wildness in Minneapolis is. Yeah as a writer yourself. If you've been putting your thoughts down like, how are you approaching this as a creative person, yeah? It's it's. It's tough because you really want to open your aperture like. As wide as you can, and just record everything and remember everything you know I guess almost in the way that you think like the earliest cameras operated before before it was like a microchip thing, if you kind of just think about the actual crude mechanics of a light box, capturing an image in preserving on film or paper you know is is sort of like what the work of a writer is But? Especially in the wake of the moderate killing is. Is Rather poignantly reset for me my own relationship with writing my own responsibility with writing. And, so yeah, I really been. Doing personal work thinking about. the murder of a motto. Specifically as a runner that was. So impactful to to so many of us obviously in running culture, but obviously around the world but. The add something I can't shake, and so I've been doing a lot of writing. Poetry actually or just riding around that to think long term like what what what I have to share and contribute that would. Sort of. Connect with. That guy's life. Well? Let's talk about Ahmad I mean that one is of particular. You know pertinence because you're runner, right? I read this article that was in runner's world recently where you were quoted and you said in some ways I can't escape the sense that Ahmad Aubrey was killed because he was running, because he was that literal embodiment of our freedom. That's obviously still so threatening to many people in this country. Yeah, I mean. I love to be wrong. I'll love to. Meditate that idea way or like age that idea, way or right? Away by. I. I can't shake it and. You know. Sit Back and watch this trial these trials and see what happens over the course of due process, but. I just can't stop thinking about. The dramaturge or the the.

"A new direction what would be dr mike garrett lee for a new direction for our listeners one word collaborate let me say it again there's a whole chapter on it collaborate i've done podcast before been asked the same question before and i keep coming back to collaborate what do i mean back to elaborate i'm gonna make your quick is there's a verse in the bible says the two are to become tom one so there's a becoming process there's you're not instantaneously one and in harmony and partnership you have to work at a. becoming unified in a partnership we call that process collaboration so we describe it how do you go about collaborating so if you want a quality relationship whether it's dealing with your sexual relationship communication your priorities conflict you need to collaborate you need to sit down together kind of like what you were saying j. stop the finger-pointing stopped the blame to fan and let's collaborate collaborate means you let your partner influence you you let your partner influence you you listen and you consider others more than yourself off and you you you come together the man listens to the woman the woman listens to the man and then we say how can we meet in the middle hack what do we need to give of a in order to get together that's collaboration you need to collaborate experience oneness if you.

"And linda crafted team realtors they've been there sponsor from the very beginning we are so grateful for them you know what they're known as the legends of customer service and for thirty five years they've been doing that every single year because it's part of their DNA it's part of what linda craft started and it's what her team continues to do and so you know what if you're looking for not it just great customer service but the legend customer service who actually care about you and what you really want out of your home because they understand that your home is emotional and then it means something to you so whether you're selling home whether you're about to move into another home or maybe you're expanding because it's time to move up into another home why not talk to the relationship people when it comes the real estate that's under craft team realtors located in raleigh at seventy three hundred six forks road i promise you what they're gonna do is gonna probably offer you a bottle of water i'm not making that up they probably will give you when you walk in the door but check them out because they would love to help you and your real estate needs you can learn more by going to linda craft dot com that's l. a. c. r. a. f. t. dot com and we're back here on a new direction with dr mike garrett and love needs the discover your talk ten languages of loving and i didn't mean to cut you off but i just recognize it needed to get a commercial in and i i apologize as for doing that and i i'm recognizing going man this hour is gone so stinking yeah and i'm having a great time with you by the way i who could i hope you're having some fun yeah we ought to do this again i wouldn't mind doing that if you're open and i think there's a bunch of people out there that have been coming in inada the show that are all over by the way i've got on my cast box FM but you could see this list of people that are just that are just just dropping in in their can comment they're making comments watching the show and so we when we were talking about sex they were all over that one everybody was coming yeah it was kind of but this comes from like we're like a free for saying that that's kind of funny to watch so we were talking we talked about the topic afric cycle and i want you to finish that because we talked about not not necessarily eliminating the triggers but reducing reducing going from there yeah and so oh so what we're saying on and described this in the book that triggers producing motions and then those emotions drive the reactions that's that's when we start seeing fight or flight or freeze or fume and so we want to reduce the triggers but the other thing we wanna do we want to catch help people oh catch it before they start reacting before the react before you start fighting or raising your voice or getting upset or stonewalling winging pulling away and shutting down and freezing we want people to catch it at the emotion place and that is if you are hurt or offended you feel feel like i just got my feelings hurt in the relationship right we give people a code word this is a real sophisticated code word jay i want to give it audience here's the code word out ch- how how shake again that means you just hurt my feelings if i stepped on your toe you'd probably say out stepped on your feelings what are you say a lot of people just start yelling and screaming and hollering why don't you use the code word and say ouch right so if i hurt my wife's feelings if she hurts my feelings we'll use the cobra we'll say out what does that mean that means you just did something something that triggered me and i'm feeling emotions i'm feeling feeling my feelings and i need an adult to adult way talking to you and telling on you just got my feelings hurt so we will use code where we teach out or you can say time out time out 'cause timeouts always better than escalation a lot of couples think i need to go ahead and fight it out now we will say call timeout but whoever calls time out needs to reschedule and come back immediately in one hour and we say one hour we used to say twenty minutes but that's because it takes twenty minutes for the heart rate countdown the post comeback back for your brain to counter unfreeze your emotions and for your left brain to start functioning your logic oh you need at least twenty minutes of just go for a walk go rest go do deep breathing go pray go exercise go listen to some music go listen to jay so so is a podcast but come back in one hour so if we trigger each other we're going to call timeout meet you back at six o'clock i'm each beggar seven it's seven o'clock on each becker at eight and then what do you do you don't jump back into the conflict cycle and start using use statements like you triggered me you did that again you you you you pow pow pow pow that's firing squad which always makes people want to run and get defensive offensive instead of attacking the triggers or the person you just talk about the emotions and we say it comes down to two sentences i feel and and i need an hour ago when i got triggered can i tell you what i was feeling right and what i was needing and my wife will actually say and really you only only need one word for each of those like i was feeling neglected or i was feeling unimportant or i was feeling disregarded and what i mean i need input or i need listen for you to listen center on need to be considered okay so you talk about the emotions instead of going into the reactions this is this is a breakthrough through skill we've seen it over and i've had people tell me this save their marriage once they learn the skill of what to do once you got into conflict is to call timeout step away come back in one hour and do what we call a repair attempt and we write about that there's a whole chapter on that others in the book on on repairing hurt by this this whole thing that you're talking about this is not just a marriage tool this is this is classic negotiation she ation tool i'm serious they get into negotiations when they get negotiations what they do when they get into the conflict right when they start pointing fingers at at each other the mediator says to both sides of the party they go ladies gentlemen we take a break here for an hour that's good right right and so it's just good negotiation tactics that when you start when you start making it personal because that's what really happens is we start taking a personally now my favorite way to defuse that with with my wife to say honey when the doctor cut out your heart what did he do with it that's the way i like to do i don't know how does that work for not very well actually actually i did use that what tirade and stops and she looks at her eyes get big and then she probably chuckles she did she turned around she said i'm trying to be mad at you and she said i can't that's funny because i've learned that one the things that we do is we try to defuse with humor sometimes that's a good technique but eventually you need to come back and most people will take a break if they do take a break break take a break and never come back it's like well i'm leaving my harley and i'm not coming back to win or the people that do come come back pretty soon and say well i think we need to talk about that because we're both upset right and by the way just caveat there what we teach people is if you're both hurt you can't both talk about your wound and you have to decide who got hurt i or worse and so by the way it's usually the wife it's usually usually i i've done this for thirty years eighty percent of the time the husband did something and the man did something the woman's feeling feelings and she's he's more in touch with their feelings than than all of us guys and so she wants to talk about and that's what you do need to talk about you need to say if your feelings are hunting i wanna talk about about that with you and and it's a four step approach i wanna understand your feelings i wanna empathize with your feelings i want to apologize for triggering those emotions and fourthly i want to talk about changing so that don't keep hurting you in that way when people learn that basic skill it's a it's it's liberating it's like quite an we learned this the first year of marriage it took us quite a while to learn this and we've been married one hundred years and my wife says almost got it right so we'll see hopefully we're talking with dr mike garrett the book is called love needs it's discover your top ten languages of loving and we're walking through a few chapters of it and and by the way just always just thank everybody but if you're enjoying this just let us know in any way that you want to add a bunch of people on cass box FM live out here and i'm getting some responses here and of course facebook live but even if you're hearing this on a podcast and i know many of you drive down the road and you listen to the show and by the way i'm so grateful to the whole entire world old that you download and listen to the show just drop us a line let us know that you you're enjoying it and enjoyed mike and and the topics that we give it just helps us in it it's just a real encouragement mature and i know be encouragement DM to as he's watching so many of the folks who are liking liking what he saying and the show as well so dr mike here's here's the deal we have been our wow that was fast and so what i ask my friends and we've been friends for a long time twenty plus plus years and i'm really grateful for you being here oh thank you brother thanks for the opportunity this has been this has been a lot of fun for me so okay so here's what about the layout here because i do this with my guests right so the show is called a new direction 'cause we tried to help people find success leadership in their lives their careers or the businesses and today was a life today but i think it's also a career too because you know when you're marriages while your career better and when your your relationships are better your businesses better company so i asked my friends if you could leave the guests with.

"Susan Dey was in the Partridge family. So she's into the Partridge family. This is circa, nineteen ninety six and I haven't seen this, but we'll see it sounds like the same human. You see screaming in front of the White House on a soapbox right now. Jess started out as the quiet keyboardist on the Partridge family and went onto rule the courtroom in LA law with delighted she could stop by please. Welcome. Does it resemble the same not physically? But it doesn't mannerism. The manner doesn't doesn't seem like same human being. But looking back, maybe we're just maybe I'm projecting it looks so forced. Well now that you know what you saying? I, I at the time no one said anything I just happened to know an individual who was our producer who just had to fire three people every single day, and eventually fire himself, like it was just a bloodbath backstage, every time and I was like, what is going on like she comes back there? She starts screaming at everybody like all the time, like it was just a crazy, juxtapose -sition and. I do realize and I was kind of a do think about this on, I think about a quite a bit, which is. I think I don't know what she was talking. It was not going to draw about this. But if you have something that's in you. You don't want it to get out, then you do something, there's people that don't have anything in them, so it doesn't really, they don't have that governor. They don't they don't think about it. I say horrible things all day because I don't feel like a horrible person, but you can definitely people can misinterpret, what you're saying, or they can misinterpret, you. I mean it's, it's like I it's a little broken record e. But if I were racist, I wouldn't make many racist show, I would not do that. I would I would not do it at all. If I felt like really have feelings about blacks Jews and Asians, I would do no no jokes about those people because I would feel it. You'd plant a lot closer to the hood that right? That's right. The black folk limits, right? I should go down there, Ernest big those guys to talk about this asking. Ernest big. It's just asking people to I saw that movie Thursdays. I don't know what's going on. Place you would like to kick it in the hood, my hood on a kick. You what's the deal? I'm just asking Ernest Meghan just asked kicking it in the hood, Ernest e big. Again. Shrugging holding the next to him. So somebody make that poster police. All right. Let's see. Oh, we got. I don't know. Somebody told me we should take Eric said he's commencement speech and have is a case comment on it Bryant at sounded funny. And in my head. It's a pretty short. Well rehearsed several times. Brian, the, you know, you've proven yourself to be so nimble a foot, when it comes to this stuff that we can just hitch a cold with it. No. No. But the graduates, I say you belong to USC, but USC now belongs to you, you belong to Los Angeles Los Angeles belongs to, you know, you belong to this world. But this world also belongs to, you know, that's when this campus has been at its best that is in, we as human beings are at its best, my wishes that you never feel that you don't belong and that you intern. Never let anyone else feel that either. Breast. It's funny. I underscore it. I have no idea what he's saying, but I don't want him in charge of anything that matters. Sometimes. Have to go to USC to understand that speech. I bet he doesn't even know. Mike Garrett is a, how dare you, Eric or city. Yeah. Garrett Heisman Trophy tailback kind of well. Well, we've started or J start. He was after. Garrett was early became tailback you over there, because all the Charles whites, and Anthony Davis and all that came after those guys. But if you to hold me down and go OJ then Garrett, carrot than OJ. There were both sixties dudes so far correct..

"Active. Volcano inhales those three examples, which are nothing burgers to all of us who've really gone off the rails Rican. Now go a little deeper into our shame spiral. He would be asked to leave a Weight Watchers meeting. Yes. I smelled a doughnut so you make us uncomfortable. And it's all right to say thought about it, but he said he buried his face into the thing, which made me think that he just went full Homer. He ate his way out of the box. Yes. All right. So screwed drew. We're saying you want to hear it again. I wanna I wanna hear I buried my face in that Donut box. I didn't even know it was possible to bury your face in doughnut box and not eat any doughnuts. But I guess great doctor through did have it. Let me tell you some interesting about the Kito thing for me. I was sort of liberalizing a little bit for a few weeks. I was like eating catch things are sugar and it was very heating more cheese. Just, you know just not paying doing his tightly and, and I noticed I there was like a little momentum with, like, I was craving stuff I was hungry more and then yesterday, freaking buried my head in a box of donuts. All right. Just. Because I was like, oh my God. Okay. A madman. All right. So we're talking. Somebody tweeted me as well that we're talking about Subaru and the good vibes. And all the Bill, the puppy kissing booth pet adoption booth at the Chicago show and all that stuff and how they've really figured out good vibes. And again, Yona sand candle emporium, or something, then maybe make it about good vibes or yoursel, berkinstocks or something. But again, off road four wheel drive durable. Goods things that are made of Galvani steals kind of weird with the good vibes. But they've done the good vibes. But it was interesting because somebody sent me tweet. I'll play the Subaru thirty seconds worth of good vibes. But then I'll tell you, they also have other business interests, not just making corporation, he yes, they do. All right. So here's, here's what they want you to think. Little blond kid with his puppy. Cute have the pup if the puppy grows up and we use yardstick measure time. I'm going to get angry their form someday. Now. He's going off his someday. Come so fast see later. Grace super imprisons the longest lasting vehicle in its class say, why don't you do this instead of this dog growing old? Why don't you have the wife growing young? Have one in Brophy wife. She's wearing like a tennis, skirt large fake grass huge fake, titties and sprint. And that will connote the past time she goes shopping bags to come out when the kids running out the Subaru at five. You got the wife, he met in college, but now he's going off to college. And this guy's careers taken off. He's eighteen and there's like, maybe like a one and a half year old crawling around the house. Yeah, yeah. We just need vehicle upon to show the time has passed that could be different dog. I don't know couple of great whiskers, but you get that trophy wife in there, that, really what's going. And it shows loyalty because you should be driving. A Lamborghini SUV at this time, because your law firm really kicked and overdrive, but still brand just because it's time to trade in the wife doesn't mean trade in the car and the wheels. Yeah, that's good. So Mike Garrett sent me a tweet that name sound familiar to you bald by wheels up rings. All yet does. Max one hundred dollars. You know, Mike Garrett is edible ever USC. Oh damn. Tell you one other thing about my carrot. Position. Well,.

Isn't that what you thought it would sound like no await? Here's the kazoo solo. Yeah. Sane a kazoo solo and you people complain about Lakers. See the lead vocalist on that too. What a gift you on the band to be leading a gift that check are. Shoot. Here. We go. Let's do this. The late. Luke Perry has been buried in a mushroom burial suit. Okay. His daughter. Sophie, Perry revealed this in an Instagram post last week. It turns out that Luke Perry was an environmentalist. He discovered a company called Koi and their Infinity burial suit in the past few years. His daughter says being buried in a mushroom soup was one of his final wishes, the company coist says it's Infinity burial suit is a completely biodegradable Berio garment. According to the suit has built in bio mix made up of mushrooms and other micro organisms that help decompose the body, neutralize toxins and transfer nutrients to plant life the end result of being buried in the Infinity burial suit or any, of course, products as the bodies are transformed into vital nutrients that enrich the earth and foster new life. What do you think of the mushroom suit? And how do you want your remains to be handled already? Land out in your will. Yes, I'm going to be cremated. My dad was cremated. I think that the whole after world coffin burial thing is a rack. It is racket like Lisa's parents were buried in in coffin. They had plots. Yeah. Racket me. Yup. No, go ahead. Wow. Frogging thirty I'll make it. So I'm getting cremated Lisa's getting cremated. My mom's getting cremated spelled out. What exactly happens with? Yeah. Ashes what happens with your? Oh, I didn't know. I don't know. What would what happened with my ashes? I really don't care. Do you care? Yeah. I do what do you want them? I love my ashes to be scattered at Venice beach while somebody plays van Morrison's into the mystic. God. That's so you. Say hippie few. Yeah. Once I'm gone. So I will say this that might Gary the US athletic director takes a lot of heat. Yeah. But here's a really cool story. So. I'm friends with this guy. Who is eight lifetime Trojan K his parents went to USC. He went to USC. He's US's been a huge part of his life. Yup. And his dad was cremated. And he's his wish was that some of his ashes not all but some of his ashes be spread in the end zone at the call Sam. So my guy who is USC donor got to Mike Garrett and said, Mike, I know this is very unusual. But. And he tells them that story and Mike Garrett goes we'll number one that's a health violation. Can't do it. Right. Number two. If we're ever got around that. I did that for you. It would cause them major seen. I I can't do it. He you understand. And this guy goes, yeah. And garett walked up to shake hands with them and in his hands was a sideline pass for the upcoming gaming, and he winked Adam and goes, make sure you got a hole in your pocket that is he did. That's how he did it. He put the ashes in his pocket. In in in a baggy. And then he walked to the end zone open. The baggy spread just a few of the ashes and then left. So his dad is buried in the part of his dad's remains are buried in the end zone, which I thought was really cool by Garrett. Michael Thompson, just texted me. He said I will be placed in a dinghy and pushed out to sea like Viking. Now that sounds like Michael you keep ashes around. No, my dad's ashes are buried half in Northern Ireland at a cemetery where his family was born and the other half at Saint Michael's and all angels church where you wear for service. So he's got half there and Hafer in Ireland..

"Point is I don't think it's a guarantee if you fire Helton the next guy will come in and win, and that was the problem. Like if you're USC and this was the issue that got them the that had got Klay held the job in the first place. USC has has really botched a lot of hires. They were lucky the p. Carrollton out. He's, you know, as well as he did who's the fifth choice, or I think back then they ended up with lane than they ended up with Sark of all people. And then you know, they got clay Helton who, you know, our friend, Ryan Abraham from USC football dot com would say like, you basically were competing against probably Memphis for for clay. And so who would they go get? I don't know. I mean, that's, that's that's the challenge. I mean, do they go and say, all right, we're going to try to hire James Franklin away from Penn State. I'm being, you know, you start looking at the list of guys who were top, you know, top ten top fifteen coaches. There's not a lot of guys who I think are going to like change jobs, and I think that's the question. Is like, who could you pull away? If you're gonna fire clay Helton you'd better have somebody ready in hand that you know is a big upgrade whose knowledge writing. There's also one other big factor here is Lynn Swann willing to do what Mike Garrett and Pat Haden were not actually go outside the quote, unquote USC family because that's been as a as Bigan issues as anything that they were been refused to hire anybody who wasn't either a USC guy or worked for Pete Carroll. So and we do a quick history lesson here the we're gonna move on, but to my point job. So Jon Robinson did have a great run from nineteen seventy six to nineteen eighty two won national titles. Now since then here's what happened after that. So we're talking about the last thirty five years said toner twenty six twenty in one fired Larry Smith forty four, twenty five in threes..

"Nobody else got a two year penalty like they did and it was almost because mike garrett acted a little bit pompous and a little bit like a jerk a little bit they threw the book at him and that was it mike mike publicly said it a function these guys all just want to be trojans you know they they don't they have if they've got something on us come and get it appropriate way to handle the ncwa because they are so screwed up is hat in hand well and that's what programming day and pat haden tried to do i disagree with you i would assume him oh look i'm all about once the penalty comes down sue them i don't think the penalty comes down i hear that if mike garrett isn't a jag off yeah blend the show together that's excellent coming up next we will get you the latest on the dodgers there at home tonight against the rockies there on a winning streak we'll get to that next mason in ireland espn la this is my favorite song right now this is gang of youths utes us song is called the heart is a muscle i so dodgers after really they were far is eight and a half games out of first there now within five of the diamondbacks like west still six games under five hundred but they've won four in a row arizona's lost ten of eleven the rockies just a game out of first and that's who they face tonight i you know i i told you john breaking blue podcast wants to be onto simplest this the breaking blue podcast rides again is again since you brought it back from the dead the dodgers are what foreign to four and two.

"Considering our next steps todd mcnair statement i would like to thank all of the trojan faithful that supported me these past seven years it's really meant a lot yeah that's a significant story that i don't fully understand well that's why we should get somebody on who nathan feno is also a good guy to reach out to you greg he he's been covering it for the la times he's been at the trial every day the jury didn't make it past the third of nine questions on the verdict form whether statements the ncaa an appeals committee made about mcnair were false because they claim that they didn't make it they didn't say anything wrong about him mcnair sued them after the committee found him guilty of unethical conduct in connection with the reggie bush case the groove nca sanctioned mcnair with a one year show cause penalty and ever since then he's been unable to get a gig yeah and it sounds like he won't well i mean we hope he will but you know he was the sole link really between the us football program and i'm reggie bush's family i'm pretty sure i'd have to go back and look for sure but i don't think pete carroll was even mentioned in the final report the final nc double ncw report right well yeah he was not yet mentioned by name neither was mcnabb fled director mike garrett but mcnair was named so that's a significant story in a way it kind of validates the the fact that nc that usc knew about reggie bush's house having i've said this one hundred times even if they did know there are much worse penalties going on in the sec the southeastern conference that the mta just looks the other way on right and the penalty to usc was not small it was crippling.

"On his shoulders late in the ball game and here's the issue though the austin bain it's really difficult to play this is where you're seeing the tricks the tribulations i should say the trials and tribulations of having a two way player if you will guy that's playing defense is now going to go try to hurry to the bullpen in between at bats and trying to get warm to close at a ball game and i think that obviously the long hair matthew beck he hasn't had good outings his last two trips to the mount i think some of it might be just a little bit of a funk because matthew beck and austin bain have been really good for the lsu tigers out of the bullpen this year you bet you bet michael what's going on michael you're on wwl hey christian love your response to that lady who called you chris question is my son's beautiful name thank you look at my mother insisted when i was growing up when people would try to short my name and it's not there's no disrespect anybody named chris the my name is christian a mother forced me like made me hey you better respond and tell them your name is christian it is it is kristin garrick not garrett yes cooker don't you get like garrison g a r i see mike garrett running back i'd say now dump should the general manager the here's the proof he gets boogie cousins one of the great coups of all time he he's rhonda one of the great cruise coups and city he gets the anti samson you know that is jose marriage you explain it has when sampson was in the bible cut off all his area losses strength was removed awesome this guy's the anti sense and here's what's removed he became spectacular i'm wondering if he cut it off for a woman because that's what sanson did in the bible i think he cut it off for a woman know that the.

"Patriots fans again at one eight hundred three to one wpro now i'm a little bit 'twixt extend between and asking this question arab up last night and i position did as w w rkk do what ward robert kraft do if the new york giants decided to call him and say hey listen i know we like your got patricia we love built bella check even more and this is one of the things that i ask dan yorke is giants fan and said dan if the giants called the patriots and offered the number to overall pick in the draft a first round pick next year and they sweet mirror whatever that is second third round pick player certain would he was a giant fan signoff on that and he pretty quickly said yeah absolutely said euros a giant fan they're probably isn't much that are wouldn't give up to be able to get bella check because everybody realize how good the guy years and i had that wind up to talk about today and you know what i actually would like giant fans that are out there because we've got a bunch listen to the show one eight hundred three to one wpro would they be down with their owner making that kind of offer our number two overall pick in the draft a first round pick next year and something else to try to pry bella check away from the patriots maybe we can flip that one aram because the word came out today that the giants are leaning towards hiring patriots defensive coordinator map patricia and that the bearded one likes the giants more than the lions which is pretty interesting on the nfl network probably two hours ago might careful low of now i do believe they call it nfl media because they're trying to separate these guys from nfl dot com and nfl network and all that stuff mike garrett follow who is a national nfl insider had this about where the giants are at map patricia and their coaching search while there's a report this morning from the new york daily news at all indications are the giants are going higher met patricia that may wind up being the case but i've spoken to a number of people today familiar with where the giants that.

"The first to touch unless you're fouled out of bounds so feda called illegal contact for example and then that illegal contact forced them out of bounds and then you come back in then you can if you immediately come back in a reestablished you can make the catch but it's kind of one of those silly penalties there's no yardage associated with it it's just an incomplete pass but you know i it's another thing about rules that i don't like and and that's that that play in college is a catch and and you get the uh you get the game and in the nfl it's not it's an illegal touch i i would love to see more uniformity in terms of the rules there they're complicated enough yeah and so if we could somehow make them more or like on saturdays and sundays we'd all benefit and that includes the officials who come from college and it takes an adjustment period of of the different rules when they get to the nfl you know sufi i've been doing college for probably ten fifteen years before they get there it's confusing here mike garrett i i just exasperated you didn't use i'm yeah i'm sought yeah i get it i get it it's just you know he's talking you know for text messages to two joe buck um you know last night and they had to do with the fumbled play over the the incomplete pass in pittsburgh and the but she play in our game and it's just and this is joe's point it's just become too technical and it's almost not fun for fans or announcers to watch i mean i get jim nansen tony romo i mean that was a strange play and they finally picked up on it at the end before the announcement was made but this game probably because of all the technology has gotten too technical and and it becomes i agree with with this it becomes harder to watch but old george young i mean god bless him before he passed away he was the at one point he was the head of football operations at the nfl and he was there and ninety ninety nine in that role when we brought replay back and and he had a manila folder and instead of on the tab writing instant replay as we explored put miss back in he wrote in huge letters he wrote.

"The dodgers have had so many late any comeback true last night with another example by the time they kind of work their magic it's one o'clock in the morning in new york and and so this is the typical east coast bias argument i'm telling ya if you watched sports center it's all about the yankees it's all about the red sox it's all about the cubs the west coast and i know we've got these beautiful studios here and i know i'm being critical of my own company but i think twice in one day i think the entire espn tilts to the east and everything i mean i could say the same thing about trojans football same same thing about anything out here on the west coast although us siemerink at preseason rings cemented a usc rank fourth pretty good is that which has at a p i don't i just saw hotel on espn eminent sense of all right so they've got a real chance as long as they keep winning but i remember mike garrett saying to me he would listen to if we might carat kept score when he was the ad usc watch sports center and he would keep track of where the us c highlights were in comparison to everything else and he said i am so tired of seeing that damn sec the fact is that the country is tilted against the west coast and we always get the short and even from this company so cavenham ourselves hurt rams camp so no cross idea they will join gored jared by the way jeered gough yesterday at gary kleiner buddy euroquinto grabs ram said dragged off threw three interceptions in practice i almost had two more actess all right.
