"So you've gotta be able to have school boards and superintendents working together with their community do what makes the best? What works best for that community and and all these communities are different in these small communities maybe have A. Lot fewer kids in the district and whatever, and so they've got be they've just it. It's a lot of hard work and and and a lot of input with with You know the the board and their parents and the community to just look at what makes the most sense, and that's really the role of the school board and I think they do I think they just do an outstanding job doing that and figuring out what works best their particular situation? Yeah. There's no doubt about it and I think there was a little bit of uniformity. In the aspect of having some at least some remote learning possibilities But obviously, we see smaller school districts able to get those kids back into the classrooms and I don't think. Can really overstate like you said the importance of having some sort of social interaction as different as it may be these kids needing some sense of normalcy. Well well, they do and and you know, and the thing about it is you know maybe maybe at a certain age, you can make some sense out of being able to do things online learning but I find it extremely difficult to believe that kindergarten first grade second grade third grade. That that that can actually happen in a successful manner online The attention span is not their parents are busy. They need be with other kids and they need hands on teachers. Teachers do an absolutely phenomenal job that they need to be able to see these kids and look them in the eye and know and know what their struggles are and I. Just don't see how you can make that happen online. "Mike Freeman Wall County Commissioner chairman. Mike obviously the the new stories dominating the headlines have been these these protests these riots. It's kind of been taking over so far. Very peaceful ones here in Weld County. Yeah, I you know I don't expect to see the kind of things that you're seeing across the country in Weld County. thank goodness I don't know. It seems like the rest of the country's forgot. There was a code the nineteen because I. Don't really see any physical distancing and going on at those protests with thousands and thousands of people, and it's not really protests quite honestly kind of those are riots. They're destroy property, and you know I'm all for peaceful protests, but that's a long way from what's going on across this country right now will. It seems like that that's been the message here. from from every elected officials that there is a difference in. That line has been crossed and a lot of these circumstances. It absolutely been crossed. And you know, and I think part of it is. People are frustrated. You know get that. They've been following all these crazy. Stay at home orders and all this stuff for up to three months, and I think they're just you know they're ready to get out and go, but they're doing it in a really destructive manner. Has the governor been speaking? With local officials it seems like governor polls. You know he was having. Weekly even daily press conferences has kinda gone a little bit quiet at least from the media front. has been in contact with with Weld County and local officials. Not To my knowledge, I haven't had a conversation living for close to a month. He has not been contacting us. Right Well County Commissioner chairman. Mike Freeman. Let's follow up with that. Is that you off guard especially with with the strict guidelines that he's been putting into place. No I'm really not surprised that you know that he's not wanting to talk to us..

Nowadays as we start to move out of post, cove nineteen, but I the bottom of the hour news and weather center. Whole sports story in northern Colorado state in the country tune into the whole show weekdays noon to two and thirteen ten KFI K. Hey. Four thirty six now here on no co now tanner Schwinn Kelly during the production. We're happy to be with you to start the week off. And like I've been mentioning, it's just been crazy. How fast this new cycle continues to change in just want to make sure we're staying up to date with the latest leaders here and our special featured interview. This afternoon is well. County Commissioner Chairman Mike Freeman Mike seems like. Just yesterday we were talking about all of the lockdowns and how things are progressing. Well it seems like yesterday or year ago. Depends on the depends on the day. Yeah, that's for sure. We kind of decided. That everyday feels like Monday tanner yeah. That's true. That's true and you'd never. It's a never ending, Monday at the moment, but hey, we gotta keep that positive attitude and and try and make Mondays the best So yes Michael let's get into this. Here's the county starts to reopen. Has there been anything that you haven't expected? That's been taking place, or is it gone pretty smoothly so far? I think it's gone really smoothly from everything that I've seen and heard you know. A number of restaurants are open. We've actually went out and eat at several of them. Trying to you know, continue to support local business and You know I, think the things are going really well. Yeah, there's no doubt about it, Mike, it's been. It's been fun watching things open back up here and and from the county standpoint I know we're starting to see city of Greeley Open backup, but are starting to open up a little bit more now and other as some really strict restrictions when different county offices were opening up. So. You know we're continuing to open more and more of you know are are obviously we're doing land use cases. We're still continuing to do physical distance, so you know you know keeping share spread out, but we're trying to do business as usual for the most part Some of some of the lobbyists especially for example, the clerk and recorder where they have tremendous amounts of people are doing a lot of stuff by -pointment, but you know we're continuing slowly..

"Good Monday of Northern Colorado welcome in to no code now on tenor. Schwinn to your host Brian Kelly during the production work here on a fine I don't know it's fine. It's transitioned from being okay. The temperature's nice out there. Sunshine to home. My goodness can I get into the air conditioner a little bit excited to be with you here on this Monday afternoon a lot of ground to cover not a lot of time to do it, and we will be going into of the. The northern Colorado News that you need to hear we'll give an update on the riots and the protests that are happening around the country. You know we kind of broke this all down on Friday. In the first segment, we broke down everything, regarding George Floyd, and how it is all played out and paying out to this point. Really, that's still the base of where we're at that time. Line is the base of where we're at now. We're just adding more of the same on there. We'll hear some some different reactions from mayor. Michael, Hancock and And what his responses as these continue the protests all ready happening down Denver at the moment they have. They started about noon a little bit after today. And things are continuing to go south in some of these protests and some of these riots. May the mayor of Atlanta Kisha Lance. Bottoms had a very powerful message that we will play back for you here in just a little bit about the riots and looting. There is a difference that I. Don't want this to get lost. We're diving. Right into this here WANNA get your thoughts out there. The feed mill, hotline, nine, seven, zero, three, five, three, thirteen, ten, nine, seven, zero, three, five, three, thirteen, ten, or they all female through one, nine, nine six. I don't want this to get lost. There's a difference between the protesters and the looters and the riders. There is a difference because the protesters are the ones who are out peaceful. We saw one. In for goodness, Sakes, Lebron James tweeted it and said the media is not covering this. It was from a media outlet that he re tweeted it from so I. Don't know where that was coming from, but it was it was. In Denver where the entire group of protesters lay down on their stomachs with their hands behind their back, showing showing their sign of of solidarity. That's that's a protester. Right of a writer or a looter are the people that you're seeing bust, open shops and rob from people. Make no mistake about it is robbing from people and you know there there's There's a lot of different things going on it. It's so hard to stay caught up on, so we will. We will present all of that and much much more here. Like I said get to the Noko News. Well County Commissioner Chairman Mike Freeman will join me later in the program. We'll get an update about weld county, because a believe it or not Cova. Nineteen is still a thing and it seems like it's kind of been swept under the rug here lately, but we're GONNA, we're GonNa Talk With Commissioner about that. We're going to talk about the recovery. This is a serious charge with serious time associated with it And the investigation is ongoing. There's a parallel factual investigation. But even with all that with the discharge the off of the four officers this charge the ongoing investigation against the other three. "And you know absolutely I mean you know obviously well county operations have been have not stopped. They've been all the things we've got to be doing or continuing to do doing definitely can with online stuff and and that kind of stuff but there are certain things that There are people out there that can't that can't renew their license plates online. Don't have that ability. And so now they'll be able to come in and actually get their expired expired license plates. It'll all be by appointment only That can make appointments and come into the clerk recorder's Office beginning on Monday and start getting start getting the things business that they needed to do just to function in their everyday lives. And like I said our lobbies will be open on. They'll be limited we will somewhat. We've got we've got some hobbies that there's only room in the lobby for one person and and but we'll be putting those guidelines out for for each one and be to start getting things in the services that that citizens need. That weren't able to be done. You know completely online so or tell or by telephone and so Yeah we're excited to To slowly start to roll this back out and and to be able to On a limited basis let people come in and and their services that they need from all Count Commissioner Freeman. We appreciate your time. I know it's been a hectic week and we'll continue to be hectic but we'll continue to check in again throughout their those dates and times For any of those town halls for for our listeners that they want. Maybe they've got questions that I wasn't able to get to here today that you're encouraging them to join in on. Yeah so on Monday on Monday. from five to six. We'll be doing a town hall meeting. We will get that published out there as far as the the number that you can call in for that town hall meeting And then We'll see how that goes and it might be something that makes sense going forward. We welcome never done a town hall meeting before. So we're going to try this and We'll have a number of updates of what's going on with the county as far as our services what. Um How lobbies are working A number of the things that we've been doing is as you know. I mean which part of the thing that while county has done is we spent almost five hundred thousand dollars in PPA as personal protective equipment that we've distributed to first responders throughout will county As they as they call him a question whether it's a fire district or police departments from around the county meeting Pini. We've been acquiring that in purchasing the out and then goes to be able to distribute that to the first responders as as they need it. So you know we're we're doing a lot of things that To try and help with the first responders safety of the citizens of Weld County. And that's one thing we can do. Is We have to purchase that stuff and and be able to get it. Spread out around the county where it needs to go. So we'll talk about that as well. Commissioner real quick and I'll let you go here but wanted to point out to the The letter that you received You and your fellow commissioners received Believe it was Saturday last weekend from the hospital workers. Have you had conversations with those? Have you respond to that to that letter and had those conversations with some of those people In the hospital realm. You know we. We've obviously been having. Conversations of Dr Wallace has been having conversations as we continue to see where this goes. You know. Hospitals have not been overwhelmed. We don't want them to get overwhelmed. And so You know part of the part of the thing is we've also able to assist with some of our healthcare systems as well with DP and we'll continue to work but everybody together. I mean. This is a partnership we all work together. And I think we'll get through this together right commissioner. Thank you so much for your time this morning. We appreciate it and we look forward to talking with you soon. Thank you too. Thanks as Commissioner chairman. Mike Freeman appreciate his time. This morning and A lot to unpack the obviously with with the safer at work guidelines Have been going into place and how it's been received and again one of the things. I thought was interesting that that he said there was a lot of the responses that he got from business owners were that they were starting to unroll the plan. Not necessarily jumping the gun to get open as soon as things As soon as the safer at work put into place But they were starting to put plans into place because they do want to take every precaution. We'll unpack that and much much more when we finish up here on the other side also want to get to the headline that caught my when we come back. We'LL WRAP UP. "Nine thirty six the time on no co now? I'm Tanner's went very excited to have our next guest joining us and it's been a crazy week for a lot of people and I know he's one of them joining me. Now is a county commissioner chairman. Mike Freeman Mike. Thanks for taking time. It's been a week since the announcement of the safer at work policies or guidelines rather We can review what take me through. What the ensuing week has been like For you as county commissioner. You know it's it's been busy week and really what we're focusing on right now is Looking where we're going to be next week More counties is getting everything in place. All of our lobbies. We'll be opening on Monday. I'm obviously on a limited basis but lobbies. We'll be opening on Monday We've been doing. We've been doing every Wednesday. We've been after a board meeting. We've been live streaming up at the ability to to have a conversation with the public and so beginning next week on Monday with our lobbying open. We'll be we'll be going back to board games where the public can come into our boardrooms with You know we'll be practiced physical distancing and all that. We'll be doing public input on Monday Wednesday again Li- back back. You know boardrooms on the other thing that we're doing is Next Monday from five to six or we're going to be doing a town hall meeting with the Commissioner's To where people can They're sending out numbers kind of like like what Cory Gardner does or Michael Bennett or whatever regular townhall meeting where where citizens throughout well county will have the opportunity to to Listen updates on what's going on in the county and be able to call in with questions and so You we're just kinda continuing to move forward as A lot of the state reopens To tomorrow and Monday with with what with what you know even with the safer at home type thing you know the majority of the businesses not full bore not like they were February first but slowly get back to business not business as usual but but start to get back to work and not only here in Colorado but across the nation. You're seeing businesses began to reopen. And I think that's the place that we need to be and Mike those with so much confusion going around right now. I mean transparency is key. It sounds like you're providing I would have to assume commissioner that one of the questions that you're GonNa get is they're going to be more specific guidelines coming from the safer at work guidelines a couple of questions that I got from from some business owners. Some people around northern Colorado was We'll what about restaurants can they have people sitting down in them and then the other big one that I got was about churches and could they start to gather again have there. Have you guys put into place more specific guidelines for for those areas? Well you know I think I think the guidelines or the gathering guidelines are GonNa Continue. I mean you can't really have groups of more than ten people You know if you've got a big enough area you know it's Kinda like Safeway or whatever else if you've got if you've got a spot where you can have groups that are ten people or less You know or or smaller. I mean I think people should have can still be able to go to church praying. You're just not gonna be able to have a full church. Kinda like I think the last thing you're going to see come back in this thing is going to be stadiums and and those kinds of things. I know the Greeley stampede which doesn't have anything to do with US but Really Independent stampede has has cancelled for this year I think that I heard they were still gonNA do a fireworks. Show just not open to the public and so you're the things that are. GonNa be slow coming back or the ones that are involved. Big groups they groups together. The other thing that I see which I'm really excited to see the number of school districts including My son the tribune that Are Looking at what they're gonNA do for graduations. I think there's going to be a lot of innovative ideas out there. I know windsors is kind of planning. I thought district six and put together what they're doing for graduations For the for the Public School. I haven't seen anything on their charter schools yet like university in Frontier Academy. But I'm sure they'll get those in place I know windsors got something planned. I think a number of these districts are going to be starting to look at that being able to maybe bring the kids and keep the kids separate apart and be able to do graduation ceremony. So I think it's going to be a slow roll out on faith. You know once again as we go back from very beginning of this thing and you know I think I've said it all continue to say you know well. County didn't close businesses and we're not opening businesses all we did was put out some guidelines If people things and go there they need to follow guidelines fall. The governor's guideline part of the reason. The governor's putting out specific guidelines on on all these things that I think the goop gathering ones. You know that's something that doesn't make a lot of sense at this point to have huge groups getting together. I think only place you're seeing the huge groups get together as all these people that are protesting across the country. And I see there's another protests going to be in Denver today I believe maybe it's tomorrow You know protesting. Those people need to also remember. They should be physical distance. And then I don't really think they're doing a good job at that. Weld County Commissioner chairman. Mike Freeman a week after the safer at work guidelines were put into place in and wanted to see what the reaction that you saw was commissioner from from business owners. Was it an instant okay? Maybe we can start rolling on this. What was the reaction that you saw? What I saw was exactly what we expected to see. That is businesses starting to put plans in place starting to make sure that they would make the designs that they needed to do to be able to open and do things safely. And I think I think you're seeing that you're seeing that across across the work off well county where nobody nobody that I've ever I've talked to saying you know business as usual opening our doors. What they're doing is they're saying. Okay let's look at this but see what we can do to put in place to be able to keep our employees safe and to be able to keep consumer sake whatever type business that is and You know at the end of the day. employs are going to need to feel sick. Be Able to work there and the consumers are going to have to be able to feel safe but they're not going to go into that business so It's really inherent on the businesses whether that's a retail business or or whether or you know that's a hair salon or barber shop or whatever that is that Is now going to be allowed that it's now open and under safer at home to do that. We just WanNa make sure that people are doing that in a safe manner I think the interesting thing is the guidelines that two states now putting out and pretty much mirrored ours and so Which which I think. That's great and they slowly starting to put some different guidelines out. I've noticed a couple of coming out but I mean I think the guidelines of pretty much standard no matter what the businesses right and again. That's I've mentioned that. If you read through the guidelines between the safer at work in the safer at home Really the only difference as you put it is not picking winners and losers When it comes to what businesses are able to open I would say pretty much true. Yes and one thing that I wanted to get to as well. Commissioner is some of those some of those cities that are in between two different counties. Were speaking mainly of Brighton in Erie. How're those conversations been happening With with those split cities you know I really you know I. I don't I don't really know what they're doing in those cities. That's the interesting thing with your pardon Weld County and in Boulder County. We've also got the same situation with Windsor. Johnston Johnstown and Windsor both in County and in Larimer County You know I that. That's inside those municipalities. I just I don't know how they're handling at a free show they're not drawn a line On the county line. I think they're probably looking at At their guidelines and I I kinda I can honestly answer. What those municipality is. Doing that are in different counties. I just don't have that answer. I know there's a lot of a lot of questions out there for a lot of people and a lot of different things going on commissioner and I know that that has been In talking with some business owners a little bit of the confusion knowing what they should be able to follow. Do see in the coming weeks Things starting to get back more on the same page. Yeah I I mean. I really think we're pretty much on the same page all alone. We had a very very good conversation. All five of the conversation with the governor on Friday night and You know I think that For the most part I I really for the most part I think we are all on the same page. I think I think because at the end of the day is that said you know. We didn't closing visibly opie business. We're not telling anybody to go up in the business. We don't have the ability to do that. We're setting please saying here's guidelines talking with Weld County Commissioner Chairman. Mike Freeman and I know that there is a lot of misconceptions about those guidelines when they came out and I know that the governor reacted in and had some very strong words. Have you had conversations with the Governor? And if so what were those? What were those like like? I said we get conversation with the governor last night. And you know I think you know we kind of recent understanding to some degree that You know what four Thousand Square Miles I. There is no way that I have any idea. We've got a number of towns that don't have law enforcement. That are way out you know in his ORLANDS are welcoming. You know. There's I don't know what they're doing out there. That's going to be up to what they're doing they're but they're you know he can't. There's no enforcement. There's no possible way to enforce just like there wasn't enforced thousand square miles to go go out and make sure that everybody was staying in their home when we were under the state homewares. You know it's it's it's it's an unfortunate deal it's a great guideline it is. It is what it is and I believe people for the most part are doing doing responsible things and I think that's where we have to beat people up able to make responsible decisions. You Use Commonsense Commissioner. Mike Freeman and again a week after the safer at work guidelines put into place in mentioning that the county operations are going to start to come back in an old. That's a relief for a lot of people that maybe have been operating without that paycheck. I know starting to back up very exciting times at least with with still extreme caution but still a sense.

"They're they're they're willing to get rid of Houston's a little bit of a different situation because that's situations crazy but still there you'll you'll see that they're still teams teams. That are saying I'm not as married to great receiver. I will take a chance with cheaper draft or free agency and it's been like that and it's changing The receiver still obviously shoes because the passing game is so big in the NFL. But they're not as afraid to make a move with some very talented as well. I think maybe that is because Wideouts maybe start to viewed as as running backs not in the fact that you know that once you're past the age of thirty you've outlived your usefulness You know although there are some we've seen Emmanuel Sanders make a nice signing even come back from a blown out. Achilles of at the age of thirty continuing to do what he's doing but we're seeing guys come out of college and just get things done and get them done fast and this. This year's group is really deep. Mike Freeman here on the rich. Eisen show running backs. We've seen what running backs can can be coming out of college and that makes running backs even in their second. Contracts Somewhat fungible replaceable. So what's the scoop with Leonard? Fournette here in Jacksonville Clearly I think that this is the the whole concept of him saying let's go get Cam. Publicly is just the tip of the iceberg for this team and net. What do you have for me on this Front Mica? That that that situation rich has always been a little bit tenuous because for that you point out a good example. Let's go get him That's not optimal for team. They don't want you say let's go get this guy when they decided we're going to go with another guy When that speaks his mind. And there's there's something bigger though. The Jaguars are rebuilding their completely restructuring. That team and We talked about the receivers. There's there's still a belief that the running backs are not a a key part of his game and not as much that you can just going back to what you said which is dead on how receivers can be used as running backs you can just throw quick pass out to them dump it off to them and they can be devastating for more devastating than some running backs. It's not in every case. Obviously there's great running back that that can do a lot Christian. Mccaffrey can do a lot. But the receivers are can can function in that role. The tight ends can a lot in that role so teams just still look at backs and I think that was this way and say we can find someone that we like more. Maybe cheaper that we don't that we believe in and we're cool with and we're going to focus on the receivers and the quarterback and backs replaceable. That's that's what's happening Jacksonville over the least sure I just think for some reason I don't know what it is. The Coughlin's gone now. But I just think that both both sides are kind of sick of each other. I don't know you kinda get that sense with son right. Yeah thousand percent and There's a there's a couple of players Jacksonville who have and and the team. They're sick of each other. There's other players on that roster and the thing about it is I. I'm a huge Jaguars. Guy I love that organization I like that owner a lot. I like the way it's run So I think they what they're doing is I. It's risky because basically starting over. But I like what they do. Overall as an organization. I love that city. I love that area And so they're just they're deciding this is. We're just going to move on from these guys who may not want to be here and we'll and we'll build our own franchise where we want to build it and if you don't want to be here if you talk to being here welcomed by you later and I think what they're headed thinking God as one of the obviously he's one of those guys you think he will be heading out. I mean because there. That's that's something that bears in mind before we see the draft. Play out this weekend right He. He is definitely one of guys at once. I mean he's basically he's basically said it So not basically so. I think he's yeah. You'RE GONNA see which I think there's there's a couple of these situations to really watch. He's one of them some situations in Jack with the Jaguars Maybe Beckham but I doubt it and a couple of other guys and a couple of situations where Do you could see trades and moves. It's always this way with the draft. But it's really sort of shaping up that way this year and and I would just really watch the Patriots. I always say this every year patriots. Always we always say they're gonNA make some kind of big move. I just had been speaking of people around the League who find it hard to believe the Patriots when I go into this year with those quarterback militants offense. They just find it hard to believe that. That's what they're gonNA do and they're not thinking like five years down the road. They think the Patriots GonNa make some Kinda big move quarterback so watch them and and the I can't find anyone who thinks the bengals are not GonNa get borough that no matter what they're offered they're sticking with him. They think he's the kind of guy that can energize entire city. So unless someone does like Mike ditka entire draft type deal. They're not moved. They're not budging either so there are a couple of things that are fixed. A couple of things really watch and like always as you know this draft something. We never planned on. Unexpected will definitely happen well. Let's let's dive in a little bit on the Patriot thing because it's so intriguing. Obviously because it involves the Patriots and Belichick and Brady and what happens in the next step and so on and so forth. You don't think has impressed in behind the scenes enough to have the Patriots. Just say we're all in with this kid. You don't think that's the case. Nobody believes it might be. It might be what I'm saying. People don't believe it. I mean I have tremendous respect bells. He's the best coach ever do it. That organization is to me just my opinion the best history of the League. You're GonNa see though what it looks. Life is like without Tom. Brady I mean he he you know you talk about a tide lifts all boats. I mean he was a phenomenon and he'd better that organization in every way he rely they relied so much on him. Obviously with the passing offense. Obviously the office but he impacted every corner of the Organization. One Guy and so what? I'm what I'm saying is teams are saying you're going to go from that to what you have now Anyone who follows brady would have a hard time but this is particularly really brutal transition and no one believes the Patriots are going to do this. They just don't believe it now. The Patriots and Bell Is. He's a very confident guy. He may say yeah. We're good with this. You may roll the dice and that that the odds are that's probably what will happen is no believes it. Because how does a guy go from Brady to to this and not really thinking more about adding more talented roster at that position and taking a chance with something moving up with some of his players and draft this year or really good so this is more a question of they? Don't believe it but don't take is that Kinda Guy. Belting is the guy who will say I like him. He's impressed us. We're GONNA roll the dice. It's just a no one really. Mike Freeman bleacher. Report here on the rich. Eisen show so you know we keep talking James and and for good reason because James. You got the guy threw for five thousand yards. And he's got a big arm and he seems to have turned his life around and has his head on straight and his Done and you've got Cam who is a former first overall pick who was entertaining an iconic in Carolina as. He said he would be But I don't know why I'm just keep sitting here so much mike and thinking once borough gets drafted. Dalton's gotTa go somewhere. And that's when Dalton is going to start coming into this mix and he might be the one that gets the GIG in Jacksonville. Obviously J. Gruden's there so on and so forth. I wonder what you think about that quarterback Carousel Going into the draft totally agree with you on all that I think Cam Newton Has Gotten one of the roles deals and that I've ever seen a guy who was physically just battered. His whole career organization walks away from him And there was this perception in part of it is because of the Times around now That it's hard to just get a real hardcore physical guys because it's just what we're facing but There's there's fear. His his health has his is his body breaking down. I think whoever gets them? We'll get a massive steel I don't feel as strongly about James Winston. I feel that way very strongly about. I think he's got another really strong. Really impressive chapter two right and whoever gets them whoever gets them is GONNA get a huge bargain But I think I agree with everything you said. I think teams are going to go with Andy Dalton I And we talked about some of these things that can happen in draft. This is one of those things will probably will see some type of deal in the draft so team that doesn't necessarily you mentioned the Jaguars. That's the possibility there are other teams who don't get drafted player. They want so they go for Dalton and then after that or guys like Cameron and after that has James to make. It's I agree with you. Cam I mean you. WanNa talk about a chip on his shoulder and his foot. I mean you know right. He's got the chip coming in and he's got he's still Cam Newton. You know what I mean I I. I know he's not going to plow people through you know on third and short anymore unless he unless he's he's back healthy and I know he does have such a Canon Armitage airmails people about. There's just something about I mean. He's still Cam Newton and he'll put fannies in the seats. I'm just interested. The CHARGERS HACK. Nab such a need for somebody like him. Maybe they're sitting back waiting if to it drops to them and then come out with to a than to a check the box of futures. Now come get your tickets. Everybody knows who is. He's a delight so on and so forth. Maybe that's what they're waiting for with the charges. What do you think well you did on? I think One of the big things with Cam. I think there's a lot. There's a half dozen teams. That are have him on their radar and are looking to see what happens in the draft and some of these dominoes will fall into drafts and some of them may not until that after but. I think he's one of the dominos that could fall because I do think I the way he's been at times portrayed and treat it as always wanted me but there are teams that no he still has a lot left and there are teams that look at him and valued him and think he's very very good still so it's just that some of them just aren't there are willing to make a move now because they want to really get a good look at him physically And also they want to wait and see what happens with quarterbacks in the draft but eventually those there's teams out there that are sort of waiting watching him monitoring him and they're gonNa make some moves maybe for younger plan draft but There there he has a lot of interest. There's a lot of teams that really respect him. Respect his game respect him as a guy respect his work ethic all of that so those teams out there. I just wish he had been. I mean look this happens to the NFL the big boy league. It's brutal at times way guys are treated as brutal at times. I just wish he was treated a little bit better more respectfully because he deserves it. He's earned it. He's been a really good player in this league a really good citizen in his league And there's still again resist a lot left there. He's still got some game last one for you. Mike Freeman Your best guest By the end of Thursday night Who's Got Herbert? Who's got to and WHO's got love by the end of the night and if you think there's a fifth one x maybe I think the dolphins still get to I think the Patriots Have Herbert and I don't I'm not I'm still not sure where that's third guy goes. I still like love to New.

"To the point where you know. I'm sitting there with suzy again. She's hearing my my monologue during this whole thing you know when they show They show Jordan winning national championship. Making the shot as a freshman. The final shot is a threat a freshman and Of course it was against Ewing's Georgetown Hoyas. I mean literally standing in Ewing's way every step of the way Michael Jordan and then Jordan went and played baseball. Charles Smith stepped in the way. Or something you know. I mean I not going to go down that worm hole but I just again Jordan was in the way of everybody up until up until you know. There was a period before Phil Jackson. But Jerry Krause put the team together and Jordan himself will point out you know. Hey I can only do so much like say dropped sixty three against the celtics. That was amazing. Still lost the game is still lost. The game like Mike said he's great friends with Charles Oakley even to this day he said that trade kind of helped us get over the Hump a little bit by getting a big man. Bill Cartwright bought but Krauss did not draft Jordan. He did not draft Michael Jordan. And I think that was the reason why he was so upset. Deep down throughout this entire tenure of all the championships of not getting the credit and never had the respect of Jordan and it seems like it was born out of the fact that Jordan had that minutes restriction placed on him when he was coming back from his injury in your two guy who will never let Echo Burnham once it's over burn him once it's over but I will say this and Bj Armstrong's coming up in our third and final hour of the show. And I I WANNA ask him. This Kraus was really only when it came to give pippen that contract and not renegotiating it and and all of that he was only doing what Jerry Reinsdorf wanted him to do and Reinsdorf in that beautiful suit look good can sit there and basically told pippen not to sign a contract but when you sign a contract. I don't hear from me again right. How's that Jerry Crisis Fall? He's only doing what Reinsdorf told him to do. Reinsdorf said at one point. Suzie turns to me and she's absolutely right. And I'm wondering if you all out there had the same fun when Jerry Krause says fills not come back as coach after this year wants to step in and say no what. I'm you know I think was the reason Phil came back in ninety eight at all. Well Poke Waikiki Jerry. Reinsdorf tell krause tell Tim Floyd to stay connected stay. Why can't to rebuild Gold Down with Phil? And why can't pip? And be part of the rebuild Jordan can still be on the back end of his career. Stay here Jordan's GonNa wear forty-five twenty-three for as long as he damn well pleases Pippen's GonNa stay here. Let's pay him. And let's figure out Jerry how to put everybody else around with Phil two in the same way that I guess craft stepped in and said we're going to trade Jimmy Garoppolo and we're sticking with Tom Brady in the same way that they couldn't figure out how to keep Brady this time. Why is cross to heavier completely and totally? There's still an owner of the team right. I can't wait to see how the next eight shows pan out on that front. 'cause it's bizarre. It was bizarre. Then I remember then it was really weird as it's now been reminded now held you not keep that team together. Could you imagine all of this taking place now? Oh my God. That was my thought. Imagine Bob Kraft after the Patriots. Beat the Falcons telling Bill Belichick. Hey Bill even if you go sixteen and Oh this year you're not coming back. That's essentially what happened. Well if Brady was still there. Yeah yeah it's crazy it's crazy I mean we'll we'll dive into that a little bit more The top of the next hour and then B J Armstrong will join us In the third hour of this program he wasn't in much of last night's Broadcast but We will see from him and hear from him later on in our third hour of the show up until then we're going to be very draft heavy. I'll be very honest with the. Nfl draft is coming up on Thursday. Night Jordan Palmer GonNa join US right before. Bj Armstrong e is the throwing coach of Joe. Borough do you know who else he has been throwing a lot or or had spent a lot of time with I imagined before corona virus at. Don't worry I will just billion on it Jordan love so Jordan Palmer Will be joining us on this program. Top of hour number three. Those are the quarterback class. We all know borrows go where he has. Where's to land? And then of course Jordan love out there too and how about the news that Joe Judge. Apparently facetime interviewed Justin. Herbert what's that all about? Come on giants. What the hell would joe judge be doing on the phone with Justin? Herber Mike Florio is going to be first up on the NBC. `send broadcast pro football pro. Football talk the He is on the show. Top of hour number two but right now turn phone lines and find a friend of the program and a friend in general And one of the best that bleach report puts out there for sure to give us all news and information. And there's a lot of talk about. Oh del Beckham potentially being on the move still that that rumor has been out there and it seems to be gaining a bit of steam and talk about that and the rest of the NFL draft. That's coming up front bleacher. Report Mike Freeman. How are you Michael? Very good my man I I I gotta say What you do with the draft and think jus I mean it's really amazing and I just WanNa make sure I got that. You haven't said that to yet it's Mike you do. And it's very appreciated and the What we'll Beckham ever be. He may never be training. But it's it's this stupid rumor that won't go away. Why why do you think why you think that rumor won't Go Away Mike? It's because some of it is because When I spoke to people about it and some of his because they don't think he's a perfect fit not all sets they think he's not They don't think Baker Mayfield's that accurate passer and that will tend to frustrate back on and that chemistry isn't quite there. You saw some of that. Some of the kids live with lacking last season. That's because they're so new together and that could really improve this year and they have a real head coach this year so all of that could really dramatically changed very quickly. But it's just it's this feeling and I think it's a wrong one wrong one Ritz. That Beckham can get along with anyone. I don't think that's necessarily true. I don't think he's that bad. A Guy Everything he's a hard worker. He's very talented. He does but he does this. Perception in the league that he is a troublemaker and can't get along with people and they think that's situation there is explosive potentially. I don't I'm not sure I don't know I just. I feel like he gets a little bit of a bad rap but I also think that there's some truth to it that he's not a perfect fit with that quarterback in that offense but this is this is a big year. We'll see this year. What happened Mike? Freeman and bleacher. Report here in the rich Eisen show. And you know what Yeah I I know. He screamed at Kicking Nets. Right and we all know right that he was part of the famed boat. Crew The days before a huge playoff game giants last playoff game that they played in Green Bay and then punched a hole in the wall. Etcetera so on and so forth but again. I've heard the same thing to Mike that that his teammates love them and that they get a big kick out of him and that when when he scores and he makes a big play that just there's few players in the NFL that come when they make a big play can lift the entire team so the question is what what what are you. Hearing is supposedly the bad mix between him and and Mayfield. It's not it's not that there's kind of personality class. It's just that Baker Mayfield have some problems with accuracy. And there's well he will be able to get better at that and just connect with tackle That's the big issue but hitting would you hit on. There's is dead on about his teammates in New York. A lot of the players really liked them in Cleveland. A lot of the players really like him. He's very well liked in that locker room and appreciated. And what do you when you talk to teammates about him? Is I've done repeatedly they'll tell you. I think they'll tell you. Hardy works and how supportive is of people around him And how the media sort of blows up some of this stuff but yeah this is this is going to be. I think constantly around because of Beckham's personality it is explosive and the belief that he's not a great fit there That will this. Season will determine where that goes where that goes. This year will determine that browse team could be really good. They got talent So it it could be. This season will determine where where and when Beckham where he goes how long he stays in Cleveland. If he stays for a long story short top I guess you could say that the the annual Video remember every team used to have like a video that would come out for the season. You know The browns going in is this Brown's team could be really good and then then the video coming out as the browns team could have been really good And then that's the issue So what do you think the odds are that this guy does get traded? It's got to happen. One would think in the next seventy two hours right. You've got to be able to take whatever you whatever you get in plug it right into a very deep draft certainly at the wide receiver position. Well I think the odds overall are pretty small I think the BROWNS WANNA give this a another season and see what happens when you have a really good offensive system. Give give those to back in the Mayfield more time together and then see. See how. That goes You just don't want to really just give up on a guy like that so quickly So I think the odds of small but when the browns say. There's no way we're doing like don't believe that teams always say that he's always say there's no way we're trading this guy and then they turn them so not necessarily with the browns say though. I tend to believe them. It's more just they don't WanNa they think this guy's really good and they wanna see what happens with one more season With them together and see how that goes. And if it's what I think it could be then he won't go anywhere for a while but if you see that lack of chemistry again It could be an issue enough to say this real quick rich one of the things that's happening now is we saw this a little bit twenty thirty years ago ten years ago little bit where teams were very hesitant to trade star receivers. They were just. They just happened to me. Randy Moss got traded. You saw some of that You saw Terrell Owens change teams but teams were still hesitant to do it because of the revolving passing game. How important receivers Warren? Now there's so many good receivers. They're not as afraid anymore..

"mike freeman" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"Two my guys are at their posts today. Good to see you guys. Mike Del. Tufo my audio executive to this Iran. Chris brought to ask Christopher You know what's what's old is. What's new last night? watched episodes one and two of the last dance. Did you watch live? I was asking all my friends. This was this something you have to tune in right at six Pacific nine eastern to be involved in the online chatter. Did you watch live? Christopher is this the first time we've met? No one was back in the day before just before Chris Became a sensible responsible human being a father. Father Father of children can't father of child masculine child. He started a named Cage. Bom Strong before you found Sarah Tana. Da Lovely lovely wonderful woman on Planet Earth Mother of Your Child Gauge and did Christopher. You spent Sunday nights in my home on occasion often watching Sunday night football often. Suzy Shuster my wife would make sure that you were taking care of yes. Food drink all of the above on occasion. You might have met a nanny or two in my house. I don't know what you're talk. I just went there. I don't know what you're saying do you think do you think at six o'clock Pacific Time? Yesterday I was able to settle in front of that television. I asked all day. I plan to do this all to do you think I was able at nine eastern six o'clock Pacific Time to settle into a chair. Drink in hand and watch the latter dance on time. Do you think I was able to do that? Chris I zero point zero care to answer the question that that to me yourself. Christopher no I don't I I didn't either I didn't either. I was just wondering just wondering it seemed like 'cause I had to game of thrones feel to it where you needed to watch it as it was happening. It had the feel of a sporting event the contrary getting around a television set to take in a sporting event to gather as we are going to do for the NFL draft. On Thursday night. It had been. When was the last time the country did that? Even even I mean you could say. I'd like to say the combine on NFL network but but that is still such a hard core event for so many people to grab. Was it the Super Bowl? I'm serious where we were all washing event together where people who aren't so hard core sports fans or they heard about it and want to see what it's about superbowl. I tried to get my kids to sit down and watch. I tried to get my kids to sit down and watch the documentary. But they were too busy on this. Infernal game roadblocks on their ipads okay and And then they eventually came in and wanted to see and Susana were. We watched it together around forty minutes and it wasn't too bad. Yeah that's about around here when we were able to settle down together and you know. She grabs a drink. I grabbed a drink. We sit down. We watch it and and I was lamenting. I want my kids to know. I said to Zander my oldest eleven on Mike. I want you to know who Michael Jordan isn't. He looks at me over his glasses. Dad because he's beginning to start thinking a little bit of a he looks over. His glasses goes dad. I know who Michael Jordan is. And I'm like you know what Michael Jordan is but do you know who he was. Fred okay. He's not just the guy who's shoes your you like to wear. And so I was lamenting that. My kids were not there until the Cocaine Circus was mentioned. Yeah and then. I heard that I was dying. It just as well Kevin Clark who's GonNa join us on Thursday's edition of the rich. Eisen show right around this time on draft day had a brilliant tweet. Did you see his tweet off during the show? I didn't want to be in truth. I think it's been like almost eighty thousand times are. That's how brilliant. It was talking about Jordan's rookie season when he was with Chicago and he knocks on a door during I guess preseason exhibition season. He's hearing people on the other side of the door and opens the sh be quiet and they opened the door and he sees what's going on in their head and he mentioned how the Bulls the called it. The cocaine circus Mike said lines on this side. We women over there now. I've roadblocks isn't so damn infernal you know Go ahead read. Kevin Clark's tweet from the ringer. Every member of the eighty four eighty five bulls watching and they're living in right now is explaining to their family that they weren't in the cocaine certain. Were not part of it. I don't know became the unfrozen Chicago terms your your term rails. Confuses Me Talk? I mean there were no locomotives ringling brothers. I don't know what you're talking about. Also the best part was. Mike said he didn't drink then. And then during the interviewing critically through three faint. That was a full fist at Tumbler. Next to hand had about a ten inch cigar or fingers dude is is. I saw God bless eighties things Goatman. Just sit back for my self deaf. I mean just take Bourbon whiskey or get one of those cigars. That's about a foot long and yeah and I'm going to sit here and I am in a slag on Jerry. Krause as long as I possibly can and this will we'll talk about the end of the top of the next hour as well when NBC an audience joins US Jordan. Said you know prior to this. That he wasn't gonNA come out looking like a rose he did. He was that people were going to kind of think. He's a terrible guy. Yeah based on. I would think on the way that he drove a lot of his teammates. Crazy or got on their case or was particularly mean spirited in getting on their case or was particularly tough to get along with his teammate. Because he doesn't suffer fools and this is why so many hall of fame. Athletes aren't coaches is why Phil Jackson's coach Phil. Jackson was not a hall of fame. New York knickerbocker. He was an important part of the Red Holzman championship years. But you don't see hall of fame players becoming coaches because they don't suffer fools gladly coaches. Don't obviously but hall of fame players not your saint player for a reason you're talented. Yes but you have a fire that Burns within that is unrivaled not everybody has the same mindset as a hall of fame player in that might be the difference between being great and hall of fame great so Jordan. I was expecting to see practice sessions where he was particularly Difficult and we did see some of it and for those who don't for whom this is the first time you're seeing this stuff. You might be sitting there saying Oh is just being like. Kobe was towards the end of his later. Tenure that we saw he was getting all over. Everybody will coby got that from yes Jordan. Sure did because he was emulating Jordan. And I'm sure Jordan was telling him stuff like this is the way I've got this mindset young squire and Kobe's I feel the same way and I'm going to do the same damn thing because I have multiple rings can fill up one hand with the rings that I have so I saw that last night and I'm like okay. I was expecting this but the guy who comes across the worst at least one fifth in is Jerry. Krause general manager of the of the Bulls. Who was the guy who did put the team around? Jordan didn't draft Jordan. It was rod thorn who many fans might recognize the deputy commissioner for all the years that David Stern seated the stage to him after he got booed like crazy in the first round of NBA drafts and Rod. Thorn would announce the next round but Rod. Thorn was the general manager of the Bulls who as they quickly walked through. Draft Night Chemo Lodge number. One overall can't can't argue with that. Certainly since they you know they they you need a big man allows. You is one of the best. That's ever played a hometown. Guy went to Houston Iraq and then the blazers. Well we already have drexler there. Yeah and let's get Sam Mbui. And as everyone point out nobody saw Jordan becoming Jordan but when Jordan fell to the Bulls third overall. I turn to Susie. As we're sitting there watching I said Jackpot Jackpot. That's one hundred ninety nine th overall for the Patriots Jackpot. That's what everybody's hoping for on Thursday night in the NFL Jackpot. You don't know right now. It's pulling out one armed bandit at the draft and it comes up maybe comes up. Jackpot. You won't know for year two or three or four from now but damn and you learn about Jordan fast. You learn about him fast Chicago. You knew he was something special. They said you know took like two practices to know. He was the best player on the team. Took all of two weeks to know that he was the best player in the NBA. Or TWO MONTHS YEAH. He said he found his stride in the third game. How about that Bob Knight soundbite that they pulled when he was before played in the Olympics? Bob Nights that he's the best basketball player. He's ever seen coach for Thomas. Oh come on his resume right. I mean wow call Jordan. The best basketball player he's ever seen in that was before. Michael Jordan played a minute as a professional basketball player. How about Rod Thorn pointing out that he? He was fortunate that the draft happened before the Olympics. Because if maybe it happened after the Olympics maybe Mike goes number one Houston or Portland. Definitely takes him at number two. I thought that was interesting. But Jerry Krause comes across as a guy who You know is is the heavy here. You know figuratively and literally how they would make fun of his weight. Make Fun of his height and a guy who it appears could not get over despite despite building the team around Jordan that Jordan needed to have and I'm curious as to the lineage of how Phil Jackson got hired that I'm sure is going to come because what we're about to see I think in the next two episodes is the bad boy. Era OF DETROIT. Who were I believe? If I'm not mistaken Chris they were the last impediment in Jordan's career with a bad boy. Detroit Pistons and no doubt that was it because after he vanquished the Detroit Pistons and the Jordan rules which was beat the crap out of them with whomever and also put Joe Dumars. Joe Dumars Pretty. Damn special of a basketball player. Who didn't get the credit because he wasn't Isaiah Thomas and he didn't beat you up like Lamm Beer and he didn't beat you up like Mahorn and the rest of those guys who I despised man. I hated aided the bad boy pistons. They were great. When I was in college they were a great villain for the NBA. My Gosh and what they did is they really. They you know and the rules that you see now that you can't you know you can only use your forearm on people. They had to reverse what they set in motion that Pat Riley then brought to the Knicks which was beat. Everybody up in Miami too but the bad boy pistons were the last impediment for Jordan and then we got past them..

"These rumors Laker rumors once you when you hear Laker rumors is like all of a sudden they start the manifest and you start throwing fuel to the fire. But I guess there was a big fire extinguisher in terms of putting out of a rumor or fired because Doc Rivers the head coach of the clippers pre-game before his team took on the Indiana Pacers yesterday, he quickly extinguished those fires take a listen to Doc Rivers pre-game. Oh, we gotta get ready. We gotta here we go. Doc, Rivers pre-game. In this right now. Magic Johnson are very close friends as you know. And that's what we are. Good friends. I have great respect for him. But the whole history of everything Steve bomber. And I have had a we have a great relationship. And you know, this summer we decided to extend my contract, and he did something and I'm going to throw this out because I just think it's worth saying because it tells you a lot about Steve he did something that I don't think any owner would do he gave me an out. Where I could opt out the summer if I wanted to. But you know, it was like we wanted to test each other make sure that we thought this was the right fit. We thought everything would work, right? But we wanted to make sure and as my dad said trust everybody, but cut the cards, you know, so it was one of those things and then early in this year, we both decided let's in this thing take this out extending it make it a longer deal. Everything we know about the NFL's joint collusion grievance settlement with Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid

"Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has settled his cO luge in case against the. The National Football League. His former teammate Eric Reed has also settled his case the two players sued the NFL alleging teams conspired not to hire them as retaliation for kneeling during the national anthem. They had meal as a way to protest racial injustice and police brutality with us. Now is NPR sports. Correspondent Tom Goldman. Hi, tom. Hi, mary. Louise. So what details do we know about exactly how they have settled their cases. We know nothing short interview that. Move on. We got we got three sentences in a joint statement by the NFL and the attorneys for Katherine it can read saying they have resolved the pending grievances. And that's it because of confidentiality agreement. They are not saying anything more which is a bit frustrating considering how this case this whole issue has roiled the country. I mean, let's remember how capper Nick and his actions and read and the other players who followed created great upset throughout the country. The president weighed in a number of times the vice president walked out of a game during the anthem where there were protests happening the playing of the national anthem became must see TV. But today, Mary Louise, we're left with three sentences three sentences from the people directly involved but being a dog at reporter. I'm sure you're nosing around and trying to find whatever else sang, so what does everybody else say about this? You betcha of the NFL players union. In a statement says it's not privy to the details of the settlement either. But it says it's glad that Eric Reid. Has earned a job an contract and the union continues to hope that Nick gets his opportunity as well. Eric Reed signed last year with the Carolina Panthers. And just recently he reupped with a very lucrative new three year deal. We got maybe a little insight into the settlement from Yahoo sports. It said it was told on prior occasions that cabernet can read would only settle if a lucrative financial agreement was reached between the players in the NFL and columnist Mike Freeman tweeted today, he's hearing from team officials that the NFL paid kapernick in the sixty to eighty million dollar range and then talk to university of Richmond law. Professor Karl Tobias who's followed this case closely. He says cabernet can read or vindicated in they're recovering something the money and Tobias says they're also vindicated in that a settlement shows the NFL was unwilling to let the case proceed in August of last year an arbitrator ruled the case could go forward. He rejected the NFL's attempts to have the case dismissed that gave the. Players some leverage. Although the collusion is tough to prove in. It wasn't guaranteed. The players would win. All right. So we shall watch for details of the settlement. And also as you said for what Colin Kaepernick may do next beyond being faced with Nike. I was just looking he's thirty one years old. So by Tom Brady standards. He could have a decade a play leftover knows. Yeah. That's to NPR's, Tom Goldman. Thanks very much. You're
