"Who's going to be involved in that trump is gonna touch casey You know. I think he's he can. He can certainly his ticket and because he so loyal to his team i think team also has a sense of security that You know. I think that a lot of places particularly at this time. Don't i mean maybe not every department and not every division at more media or hbo hbo. Max certainly that program team of people like you. Worker nina rosenstein. She's terrific the the thing with casey. He managed to protect the brand. That was endanger known. You see just look at what what's happening is peon even in the last eight years like how many different ways your brand can get screwed up. If the wrong people are in charge or the wrong. The wrong thing happens there all the sudden you go sideways on this one thing. You don't see something in time and with. Hbo is at this point with whenever it was when they got bought when right when plumper was starting as stomp his feet a little bit about what they're trying to do was hard to tell. How much was history. And how much was a. He's really worried about this them. As it turned out he was really worried about it. There was this moment where it seemed like. They're just gonna turn. Hbo into just another streamer. Just another network and they've managed to keep the one thing that made hbo special. Which i'm sure is in your book when they really get behind something. The audience expects it to be good. That's such a hard place to land and it's such a hard place to keep you know where it's like movies town. This is h. b. o. k. I bet this is going to be good to just have the audience. Make the leap versus netflix. Which i think netflix does a lot of good stuff too but flex their shooting. It's like a t-shirt cannon. They're just shooting shows movies at you every day. And then you'll they'll they have the algorithm in order to figure out what you like or don't use versus white lotus right. I mean theoretically. I mean musically speaking they were variations on a theme right. I mean bunch people again. But i mean the my quite show just might load is just toppled creamed cream. And now they're going to do another season you know. It's such a cool story because he does that thing and it's like look. This is one season at six episodes. There's no season to the people just liked it and then it's like wait a second. How do we figure this out. Could there be as easy to yeah. I mean it's going to be totally different place in a different castes. But arguers something like that could go on for ten years. you know. it's pretty cool. And mike was amazing. The way he managed to pull that often covert. It's still like those two shows. Give me faith that as weird as tv's gotten as many choices that we have they're still like can be those shows that seemed like they turned into a are you watching dot dot dot yet caught up. Hey you got. Have you watched episode four yet. I wanna talk to you about it. Feels like it matters. A big fan of i know everybody likes to binge but there was something really cool during mare and why why Because it was like. I gotta be home to watch. Like right was appointment. Viewing which we haven't heard of in a long time and i think that was another thing that hbo didn't give into They kept their contract. And i think people really enjoyed it. I mean there was somebody who's talking about the party and everybody everybody left. Oh no it's the final mira where we're going. Guess it's almost like a game you'll see another season of that too. Even though they said it was.

"The bills. They wouldn't beat him on a fast. Feel either one of them. Well that would involve maybe trying to top one of them but you know who knows the afc south in the nfc south. They have a lot of easy. Is going to have a good year. and i. i think he's edge. When you realize. I mean when you look at the coaches you them up if he gets the first couple. There's not a lot there. There really isn't when you look at it. And they had a lot of unproven coaches and he has a big edge every week. And let's be honest. He intimidates these young coaches. I mean they're looking across the field at a guy grew up watching. It's like to have a little body on the other side. I mean he's worth points. Just they're standing across the field right just being on the field with them. He is bad bigger coaching legend. Now he's that good. Well it would be really fun if we got chiefs pats at some point during this whole thing. Let me give you a couple more beds for you. Go did Worst record you could just go chok. You could take Houston houston's two to one are four to one. I don't think alliance for this reason. Dan campbell is a cycle. He's not telling you. I go back with him. He's a psycho and you know what i think. He's going to be a good coach. It's not gonna come to this year I don't like about. But i'll tell you some he's psycho and he will push those players really really hard he believes in that that's how he's caught and I would say the whole thing. Looks like a complete. Let's just.

"You always win in dallas than lose it on. I think they lose. Okay two and three rams week six loose. Oh god we're two and four o. panthers home. This feels like a wind. Possibly they win three and four week. Eight at chiefs monday night. No they get this over three and five. then yet. The raiders at home in week nine. That's a win. Rate is i think are not going anywhere anywhere strong i i do not worry about the race me that all right. So you're foreign five. You're heading into a by you. Come out of the by at tampa monday night. No they'll lose four foreign seven. I feel like that could be the game where they actually brady throws four thousand. Six brady throws four packs. Everybody says brady's washed and then he ends up winning every game. They're not even crazy enough to think they win there. Although i think is going to have a tough year than people think i do know giants stuff right at i was bathing. You and then Week twelve eagles home as a win. Eagles gonna have the worst all right so you five and six at miami at chargers back to back. Are they split them all right. You're six and seven home. Dallas win seven and seven ninety one of these next three at eagles at chicago home washington. I win two of those three. See your nine and eight there. you go. that's what. I'm figure how confident a lot to do like that. I didn't give them a crazy win. I don't think they're going to win. A chance of city first of all kansas city is going to win the whole thing make the case. I wanna hear that. listen. I think andy had do. He got very lucky. Last year. the thing with his son was a nightmare when it happened was a nightmare but more than that. The injury all sorts of wine when they happen where things he couldn't fix. But here's what i thought handy really blew it and even in that game and said i don't care that we can't walk them wilder run our offense and we're just gonna make lost that we're going to break plays down sealed so when the game you know what they found out mahomes as good as he is clinton do that when he couldn't get any help the line of scrimmage and they never made an adjustment didn't make in just the second half they didn't come out the things that we thought they would do to change things in the second half and even shepherd challenged. Do some stuff and said. Are you going to do this. The whole game and mahomes was on the run. A couple of balls could have been caught. We know they he made mason throws that could have been caught. They were dropped. The bottom line is he had a rough day. He thought that he could live with the passing game. Even though he had no sense of wine you went out. He spent his whole rebuilding offensive line as all he did. He has skill everywhere else. I think they are impossible to stop. I think buffalo was the second best team in the afc. I think i was wrong about josh allen. I admit it. I've never a player. I didn't i think he's ever gonna be accurate and accuracy. Something a quarterback has to have the as built themselves into a wonderful player. I was i admit i'm dead wrong about alan I didn't like them like this. A lot of people I think didn't but women now maybe they will. But i admit that i was long about him. That gene is really good I don't think plus a win. Engender city i think the chiefs will go back to the super bowl again. And they will win this chiefs five to one chiefs over under his twelve and a half chiefs to win. The conference is plus two fifty. I am i haven't made my Like.

"And everyone I think had this moment during quarantine when the pandemic first started where they were finding old archive moments, whether it was video audio or even some pictures. When you were a lot younger. I found the video from an old I miss in the morning broadcasts. And don't get too nervous. There was nothing too crazy. But it was that fiddlers elbow. It was you my father, Mike Francesa and the late Don Imus what a golf day that was seeing don choke in the big spot. Well, those were the days way had that got golf tournament several years in a row, and it was always for the Hackensack Medical Centre, raising money for them and And the, um the tox classic A cz. Well, which you know the event was for a great cause. But it always had its craziness and fun. And, you know, I certainly missed those days. So they had you and Mike doing the announcing for it, And I won't forget this. When I was looking back at it. I have to throw my dad under the bus. Like what a moron. What a mush After I Mrs T shot he starts celebrating Sam. We're going to be home. And for that was the ultimate jinx moment by one about guilt Anybody has ever played golf until the balls in the cup. Don't say a word. Keep him out yet, 100%. If you've seen my golf game, I would stand by that 100% Mike Greene here with us. Mike. I was thinking about this when I was walking over. Besides Fiddlers elbow being one of your legendary broadcasting moments, I was thinking about my favorite call of yours, and the first thing that comes to mind is blocked by James and that epic 31 come back to get LeBron that championship with the calves up against the Warriors. I'm just wondering throughout all these years of great moments if you had the best seat in the house for them, what have been some of your favorite and best calls in your opinion? Oh, that's a hard question. Zach. Did you know that you have a lot of memories from going over the years. Even back when I was doing Nick Radio back in the nineties, Um, you know, I tell people sometimes one of my favorite calls was John Starks dunk against the Chicago Bulls in the playoffs. Um, but I would think you know, the LeBron James Block is up there. The Ray Allen three pointer in Game six. Of the 2013 Finals. Um, that's up there as well. There are some Jeremy Lin moments where shots during Linsanity. Ah, a lot of warrior stuff. Steph Curry's had some had some phenomenal performances. So I've just been really blessed to have a lot of a lot of fun moments of calling games of these extraordinary players, so I'm I'm a very lucky man. When you have a night where you see the Alan shot in the corner in Game six, or the LeBron blocking a game seven. How long after the broadcast, does it take you? The wind down and actually put the head on the pillow and go to sleep. That's a good question. You have so much adrenaline, and even if you're exhausted that day, so you had a long day and the game goes on and you get back late. The adrenaline it takes. It takes several hours before it just stops flowing because, you know, especially games like that. I mean, that's All of us play by play broadcasters. We live for those moments you lived for the big Games. So you get so fired up and it does take a while to settle down and come down, So it takes a few hours and is also the games. You know where you you doing a game and maybe make a mistake. In the game, and you think about it the whole night, and it's like you can't go to sleep going back. I wish I had that call back or you know or missed that one. So there's there's all sorts of reasons why it takes a while, but especially the ones that You know when you when you have Ah, really fun, thrilling game. It takes a while for the adrenaline to go away. Mike Breen here with us, Mike if we were doing one of these cheesy radio bits, where they didn't tell me who was coming on the show, and I had to guess Who was going to be the guest. All I would have to here is just in the clue with someone say, Bang and then right away, I would know it would be Mike Breen. I've never asked you this. I'm sure people ask you this throughout the years, though, Is there a background story on how Bang became your signature called Because in every big moment MBA playoff game, you just expect to hear bang towards the final 30 seconds minute of the game. Not that I wish I had some kind of great story to tell you on exact, but, um, it actually started when I was in college. I went to Fordham University in the Bronx. And I worked at the college radio station Wftv and we used to do the Fordham men's and women's basketball games. And the games that we didn't do. We would go as student fans so You know, I would travel all around the tristate area watching my school's team. I was a big Fordham Rams basketball fans. So when I when I wasn't calling again for the station, I was there in the stands. And I started doing it in the stands, affording player would hit a big shot and I would yell bang as a fan in the stands. And I thought about a you know when I try it on the air for a big shot, and I tried it on the air in and ironically when I first started doing it, and I didn't particularly like it. I didn't know if it it worked because it was on radio. But then years later, I tried it again. And the reason I started to like it was because it was very quick, concise way to call a big shot in a big moment. Where you don't have to use your voice to override the crowd. In fact, just you give the bank call and you get out of the way and you let the crowd come in and and kind of take it away from there. So it was. It was a good, concise way. In a very loud arena. Ironically, that doesn't apply right now, but that's how it got started. And you know, it's funny. I'm not the only person that used that I didn't know it at the time. But Johnny most great Celtic broadcaster Hey, used that for a while, too. There's another play by play guy in Philadelphia named Steve Fredericks, who I found that later used it and then A guy named J. Howard, who was a longtime Spurs announced. You used it, you know, back in the day when nobody heard other announcers and other cities unless it was a national, so I'm not the first one to use it..

"O'clock big Mike francesa of course comes your way time we look at our door and just a tremendous job audio cytoplasm and had already as well because the eight Yonkers were live from the south fifth eyestudio nobody nobody nobody nobody nobody on top of that the staff at the Hyatt nobody joining us right now hello pitcher had a hell of a career pitch in the majors for over twenty years but it's a perfect game won a couple World Series and of course was a member of the New York Yankees and that's David wells David Joevin hopefully you keep in safe how are you David how are I'm good guys and I am keep and save like twenty what two twenty two days well quarantine yes something like that I lost track of it I can be honest I mean I think I'm I'm twenty two I think tomorrow's twenty three or something like that so I've been good you know I during my quarantine David I've watched a lot of old baseball games and this may surprise you that this is the first game I'm gonna bring up to you but you did something very impressive in this game and that was during the nineteen ninety two World Series against the Braves you guys obviously won the World Series I'm watching game six because that's a very underrated game in World Series history and for those who don't remember this David wells on the mound I think you got Otis Nixon on first base and you just keep throwing over there and you keep him close the entire time big spot this game and then finally he gets caught stealing and it was old to the credit of you for keeping him close and I think that's the one out you got mad game but that was an underrated game in a very underrated moment David and I give you all the credit for that caught stealing of Otis Nixon while you're here historian because I have no recollection but even as I was watching a bigoted myself I wonder who remembers things like this and so as the guy that was doing it you don't even remember if you remember that David at all yeah I remember I remember the game but I just I mean I don't get a whole lot of playing time back in those days because I need to get released the next year by the blue jays and but I remember going in there to get my the parents and and I do not remember taking him off our hands get in touch caught stealing well here's a good news it actually happened David well no no but I but we knew that Otis hi everyone you know owners can run right so you know I had a couple throwers come from from seat out he he related to our somebody related to to borders and then you know but then I threw a lot over there on my on my own no with a guy that's bass you know with the left with a left the and you know some people have acted read lefties better than others and you know if I put my head down I went home if I looked home and I went to first so I was pretty predictable so I found out later but so but the good thing why you keep a guy close you know those those things can happen since you know they made by members with the Yankees right to get David wells the first you know obviously the first you might think about is is is is the Yankees but if I'm not mistaken tell me if I'm wrong here nineteen ninety six playoff the the will call it the Jeffrey Mayer playoff series when the Yankees beat the Orioles I believe it's five did you did you win the only game for your rules against the Yankees in that series hi dad David cone I think and I would have a battle going on and and you know and that game because I I knew I could beat the Yankees I I just you know when I came up to the big leagues my first start was against the Yankees against my idol Ron gets three and so I end up losing that game my first game ever pitched in the big leagues was against some lost and but then after that I became a Yankee killer since so every time we go and I always had good success against them in in in it so to me it was an all going into that game I always felt good about pitching against Yankees could always felt that I could beat him and I did what many in because at that point in your career when you sign with the Yankees after that year nineteen ninety six to thirty four years old you had a good career I think the best part of your career happens once you sign with the Yankees especially with some of the individual accomplishments that you had obviously being on that ninety eighteen but what led you as a free agent to signing with the New York Yankees well I got the opportunity and I grew up here in San Diego you know a padre fan and a Yankee fan J. used to watch all the Yankee games record when they went to Anaheim we've gotten we go up there and watch him there and I just I just for some reason as a little kid you know doing all my reports all these were on Babe Ruth many a keys and you know so it's just my love for the Yankees for some reason and plus one of my good buddies well there's three brothers that we always hung out in their dad was from New York so I was always over at their house and when the games came on during the week and he always grab me I would I would go out play with with with the with the crew I go and watch the Yankee games I watched growing get trees were eighteen strikeout game C. H. R. with a sixteen or eighteen eighty eight nineteen seventy eight yeah so I watched that game with Mister gray and you know to me it was just one of those things I've always wanted to play for either the Padres or the Yankees I got that opportunity so I I signed with the Yankees no questions asked by you they said George offered me a contract has to be done I don't care what it was I would assign your your agent must have been thrilled I mean your age was probably thinking can we negotiate a little bit more on this well I mean back then I mean it really didn't matter to me that's a lot of money when you're making three four million dollars instead of trying to get you know yeah would be great to get six seven million but I don't care I just want to play for the Yankees you know we want to go any he really worked out because like I said you your career I feel like you got better raise your career went on and I think we always say that now about lefties we look at left handers and say oh well given time maybe when they turn thirty they'll start to get better what for you work what kind of got you to the point is I think that nineteen ninety eight season and maybe you disagree I think that was the best you ever had a hell of a year statistically pitched a perfect game you're on that great team but for you what kind of change were you able to develop as a pitcher a little bit later in your career what what I what I went over to Detroit after Toronto released me you know Sparky Anderson I I spent a lot of time with them and and he just he sat me down and it just taught me the game on off the field even off the field stuff didn't really apply but you know at least I had in the back pocket the do's and don'ts but just learning how to pitch he told me if you want to learn how to catch so talk to your headers so I go talk to give me I go talk to tram you know Lou Whitaker Dan Gladden I would talk to guys like that and just pick their brains and and so as the team that I went on from there I would always pick the hitters brains on and in pitch counts and what are they looking for and that's how I learned how to really develop and like the body shop is always challenging and I think in ninety six was Baltimore they goes eleven and fourteen that year but look how many games I went into the night Denny and Davey Johnson's like you're my guy you're the best man for the job I thought I was still a lot of games and you know on the night Danny you know and it just to me it was learning how to pitch and taking that into my later in my career when I didn't have the velocity I had early on so it makes you learn how to pitch so I just even though also ninety two ninety three outs on it end up down away and I but I have great control so that helped me out later in my career you know anytime David talking to David wells when there's so many guys get the Tommy John surgery one thing I was met with you yeah like a rubber off I mean you you you know you could pitch you talking about like in ninety six you you know all these gave you said you pitched into the ninth inning I mean it just seems like you could throw any time and there was never an issue with that arm David no and I wish I had it now because I can't I can't live my hand on my arm above my head at the time so much arthritis and you know surgery I had a few years ago but but you know I was blessed I got you know I was you know one of those guys you could wake up and throw twelve the six right out of bed without even stretching so that was a blast arms for you know my whole career and then a little bit afterwards and but as you get older your body starts changing you know arthritis kicks and just these nagging pains and aches and pains and everybody over fifty is gonna fail at and if they're not they're lying yeah you got that right yet you have any regrets over that would you have retired earlier or do you kind of looking out here and say I loved every second of it would do it again well I I I would die I tried to play going into forty five I remember you here yeah and and just you know they do that yeah they say I forgot who told me our Mike Flanagan Mike Flanagan told me let em at the Jersey off your back he goes they don't care about you when you leave the game he goes you play as long as you can and let them rip the Jersey off your back and that always stayed with me told me that like in eighty eight or eighty nine where tron and you know that always stuck with me and that's what I tell these these guys today stick it out who cares they're going to pay a million dollars a million dollars you're not making but limited Jersey off and that's that was my model bill on it you mentioned earlier growing up as a Yankee fan we're talking to David wells and doing book reports on.

"A lot I don't know if you remember this is obviously the Mike francesa studio there's the plaque right there I no longer shows out of it unfortunately is just strictly at home but this is the Mike Francis estudiante view for you fan fans you probably know what it looks like Mike has obviously been on TV forever moves in Maggie enjoyed Evan or both now streamed a live from the studio and they've decided to add some things and join Evan have one hell of a figurine and bobble head collection and they've decided to live in the studio here with a bunch of awesome little bomblets maybe I'll take some pictures and put them on Twitter but they've done a wonderful job right in front of me unfortunately is Sanchez in reverse so there's a lot of jets but there's a lot of a Carmelo Anthony made the cut I'm surprised Evan has all his Bala looks like it did with the Bible had but five and No more Garciaparra Rickey Henderson Mike single Terry John Elway Manny Ramirez in a Dodgers uniform Willie Mays is a lot of good ones here obviously then you got the map ones no Syndergaard fully in for Stormo is at the the metal wings on his helmet is he holding a hammer I think so a lot of cool once they do a good job their office is filled with a bunch of different stuff adding you know Steve summers odor is a Cheryl this would slumbers I shouldn't say water in a C. is the best eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six so we started with the Rangers we got into the Yankees obviously the Rangers with a brutal loss two devils and you know I know this is a tough thing for the Rangers to accomplish anyway but coming off the performance the other night against the capitals and watches have been a jets for those five goals in hearing Samrat Rosen's call on that final goal is was just so much fun and the team looked you know between him and pairing the two superstars just playing on a level the Rangers really haven't seen from S. superstars you know it's even when it seems good and am playing in postseason games and and playing in the Stanley Cup games the only superstar that ever really played well well in the post season was Henrik I mean Nash came hearing was terrible the posting is that some good regular seasons but was terrible I made him really have superstars they'd greedy guys it started with the Johns world seems like blocked shots they play defense you know the day and the Girardi is of the world in the Callahan's of the world not the most talented you know playmaking guys I really thought was the last in the last handful of years I would say is a corolla with their best you know playmaker put areas so much better than the grocery we're discussing is unbelievable did not have the best time to get the devils but it's unbelievable and now they have the structure they can head out west Megan will play Dallas Nagel play Colorado and they're going to go play they have a home and home with Pittsburgh they have a tough stretch coming up and this was a game they had to win I really that I you know it I think this really puts a damper on their postseason chances right now they have three spots out of a postseason spot the three points excuse me out of a postseason spot behind the blue jackets and the islanders they could have been one point out and they have Caroline Caroline in between them and the wild card as well and now they're going on a very difficult stretch out of all those teams I just mentioned they have the most difficult stats schedule down the way it's going to be difficult and it needed to start with a win against the lowly doubles at home they're coming off of back to back in a win against St Louis the Rangers need the game so much more than doubles doing that's fine I was came out you're the coach Marco played the cut a couple times we talked about one team won the game more than it was in the eighties excuse me the Rangers and wasn't the Rangers and that was a game they have sleeves went and they came out and didn't play well nigh Igor first came back from a broken rib it's amazing that he took less than fourteen days and we're talking about Erin judge probably gonna have to remove the ribs and see and and all this and and Igor comes back in less than two weeks I know it's not the same thing is that the same torque on your body is a swing and all that but still guys getting pucks shot at about ninety miles an hour brokerage no problem Aaron judge will see in the office well that's it for me tonight Daniels here in the building hello thank you my brother I appreciate it I will not see you next week you'll hear college basketball but I'll catch you soon.

"He'd probably say it's for us. That was an incredible conversation. Living legend he really is a living yes. If you have a thirty for thirty or whatever it is in europe broadcaster. I mean you've done it. I think whenever we said trailblazing at the beginning of that thing think like the godfather of sports radio that's what he is. He literally is the first him and mad dog. Were the first to to kind of get into a booth together a studio together and just go to town and now it's. It's like the standard but back then it was not. I just love that. He's him all the time all the time all the time he's not. He's not doing it for anyone else but himself. If you have a thirty for thirty about you and you're not dead broker in jail. You're crushing yes. That's a standard that is probably a good standard rate. They're buried a couple of people in there. Yeah yeah died laughing big. Thanks mike francesa. Mike von is the app. I believe it is mike's on i i i. I was introduced to them. Through tie. Then saw the thirty for thirty then watched the all the clips every day in boy. I love him. I absolutely we love everything he says in the callers coming onto a stage is a great metaphor for us going into live radio really because we would like to take all this. It's a big part of why we wanna be live is to hear the people's voice in his thought of. I'm in the middle of a stage. These people just walk out here and just put the brakes on the crowd probably are we listening wants me to kick you off the stage too much. I never thought about that. I was always like this is an audience. This is one of our listeners. I'm very thankful for them doing that. Here we go not not a great call. Kai no worries good one boy whenever you have the mindset of hey. This is a fucking show now. You're not an audience. You're a performer trying to call in here. Let's put on a show and then you watch the clips of the way he does handle it. It's like oh yeah that is exactly he kicks her has stage quit. He looks him. No i mean because <hes> he makes ninety nine percent of your audience who doesn't call call in. They don't want someone call. Listen and listen to them. Be terrible listen. This is not what we signed up for. No inci sign up for all craig and main method <music> telling a terrible thing. We didn't sign up for this path to advance really quick while it's not my call but i was going to have quick hook if i if i had the ability oh you'd have a quick office sealer fucking trap door push the button. They fall right down. I think i'll have that button. I'll have the ability to put drop them into the pit office states. You've got to be able to run. People have to the gym kong button. "Well, right after Mike francesa and Mike von as the bombers host the Detroit Tigers in the middle game or their three-game series. This is John sterling gametime six thirty five with Yankees pre game at five fifty five here on our flagship station for the Bronx bombers fan sports radio one zero one nine FM and sports radio sixty six WFAN WFAN FM, New York. All right. So let's take it a little bit of a turn at one twenty five. I know the guys on the morning show. We're trying to get in touch with oil Cam Boyd and. And he just called back. And we we double checked I asked NS a couple of questions just to kind of make sure it's him. So we believe this. But you know, there's obviously been the big controversy around Ron Darling's book in which he says that Lenny Dykstra prior to game three of the one thousand nine hundred eighty six World Series in Boston that oil can was pitching that Dykstra. As oil can was warming up and getting ready to go and Lenny's in the on deck circle was yelling, some racial epithets at oil, can and that it rattled him. And as a result gave up a home run to Dykstra to start the game. Now lay as we know he disputes that this happened. Okay. So here's one of the excerpts that Ron darling writes in the book, he said, quote, I don't want to be too specific here. But I will say that it was the worst collection of taunts and insults ever heard worse. I'm betting than anything. Jackie Robinson may have heard his first couple of times around the league. So the guys in the morning show. We're obviously trying to get in touch with oil can to get his response to it. And he called back. Just now I hope the guys in the morning don't mind that we're putting them on oil. Can it is it is Chris Maggie and Bart Scott here in New York? Appreciate a couple of minutes. How you doing? Good just more. How you guys doing? We're doing great. I'm in providence right now. Oil kid. I guess when did you first get wind that this? That this controversy was brewing. By twenty four hours about you know, from what I understand it must have came out before. Because when people started calling me about it. They had already heard about it. So, you know, I'm not adding that person like that. And you know, my household, you know, normally my wife my daughter keeps me up on what's going on. Concerned to me. And you know, we we have in house being this. So I am Facebook and things like that. But I don't participate in the end of that like that. So it came as a shock to me that you know, they talk about me down in New York. What what they're talking about. You know, I I can't imagine that it has something to do with the World Series. But I didn't know the add anything to do with any kind of negative response. Like like what's going on right now? No, no. I did not. Okay. So can you clear this up for us? Did Lenny Dykstra taunt you before game three of the World Series? Honestly, I don't know anything about it. I I would be with my spouse in the last couple of days. So I mean, the last twenty four hours or so about it just briefly and everything and I said, well, you know, I said to obey. I don't even know your no I'm warming up for a ball game. And I'm glad I try to get the New York Mets out one at a time. It that's all that's on my mind, and the kind of Justice may toy me come from the dugout. I didn't see anything like that. I looking for anything like that. So now, this is this is all new to me. I am a Davis to make it to be what he heard I kind of disturbed about it allows. Okay. I've heard about it because I have been around I'll play ball with linear Japan. And it didn't seem to come out that type of person and had even made home at one time in Mississippi. And and that's where I grew up back. So I kind of you know, the person that I saw I like bourbon that I've talked to I liked so I'm quite disturbed about it. But I guess, you know. What you see on the surface is not really what I am. I saying to be so. Route on me because I didn't know it was born on. I love slide out over the plate. Stone little man. Pocket. And you know, we don't have what we had today with the technology of the game to really say plan, you opposing team and know the FOX in a game that you know, there bothered positives in the game. And what they're good at what they're not so good at we didn't have that kind of being going on like that back then that much. So I really didn't know anything about him. I never faced him never played against them. Didn't know who he was. I found out within two pitches. I found out he was a strong little man, you know, to try to make some positive out of something negative. I I'm really I'm really dumbfounded. It will hear that. That that took place, but also to hear that took place with other people here in this is Ron Paul because he wasn't on hurt. Somebody's pop up under the table. Because here it is. I'm I'm hearing about it thirty years later, and you know, yes, I'm the third about it. A more heard about it. But it tells me. The thing that I found anything that I went through and the game they were really nature place because you know, it's it's easy to deny. I didn't say I didn't go not that type of person all of those days. Like, you know, it's like. Being the not what they seem to be. And like I said, I really don't know how to take it. I don't think dollars China say no book, I came. I would have thirty years later myself. Coming out of the major league side. I think that you know, I don't think that's that's what he's doing. He was basically just like I did in my book talking about life and talk about your experience within the game of baseball. This is one thing that evidently was on his mind for a lotta years. And he wanted to get it off his mind. What I say AT procrastinated years for the reason that he didn't walk, you know, negative thing on like this with the Mets baseball team just baseball in general. I'll be honest. I used to work at the network that Ron Ron does. And I've heard him tell the story before this is not something that just came up for his book. Just if you can we're talking oil can't Boyd if you can take us back, and I know it might be hard to remember. I don't know if I could ever remember it. But do you remember what the whole atmosphere was like as you are warming up for game three? And if you could even hear anything at that point because I'm sure it was nuts in Boston. Well, believe it or not believe it or not I had a I talk about it in my book. I had another distraction. If kinda personal. Not so much drug related. What people would think it is anything like that. It ain't nothing like that whatsoever. Personal. With my family and that that that day. Other ballgame I had the output, and my mom came a dad.

"Inside running game. And obviously reason for that is because they wanted to be able to first off take a little pressure off the quarterback. But with Anderson you got a guy who is clearly a power back and he's playing even bigger than he played in the past. So I mean, he's a guy. Now, he did not have a good game against the Wallin's. New orleans. Did a good job of shutting down run? They didn't excellent job is shut down the road in that game. I mean girly only at four carries and suddenly at forty four yards on sixteen carries say they did while the against the Cowboys. I mean they killed the Cowboys. You know in the in the divisional round mean they that cowboy defense played great all year. I mean, those numbers the Rams put up Anderson had twenty three for one twenty three in girly at sixteen for one hundred fifteen. I mean, those are those are big time numbers. I mean isn't pounded away at fifty five. A pop girly had a thirty five yard run. So he obviously average a lot. But they ran the ball really, well and ran inside with power, and as Anderson so the pats not a team you push around there a team that they're outside running scheme that they like to use. Normally the Rams will work much better against the Rams against the pats. Then try to beat him in cyber power absolutely won't work. That's not the way to beat them. What you do beat? "But he has been I'd say pretty good in the playoffs. But he has been very Radic at times. He's missed more downfield open receivers any quarterback in the league. He missed more deep throws to wide open receivers than any quarterback in the league. He can be extremely wild at times. He's in a Radic thrower. He was pretty cool against the Cowboys. He was pretty good. I thought in the in the game changing moments against the saints, but he can be very radical. And I think that you won't see I don't think you're going to see him get rattled. I just to me like he really showed us something. And that saints game. They go down thirteen and nothing that places rocking. And yeah, he found a way to gather himself gathering teammate that huge store at the end of the first half down the field of Brandin cooks. He's got he's got a good head about him. But I'm with you. This is I mean really now about six seven weeks where we see different player than we saw earlier in the year. And he's not quite as consistent. And that's why I think so much of this. And if you wanna compare the two playoff games, you can I think so much of this is gonna come down to whether or not they can run the ball and whether or not they get Todd Gurley going early if they get Todd Gurley going that means that unlocks their play action. And now we're talking about a different quarterback. So much of what Sean McVeigh has done to to get Jared Goff going over the last two years. It's been about making them more comfortable more comfortable playing fast and he plays fast off of play action off of different types of run action. And for that stuff to be effective. You have to be running the ball actively. And so there was so much. This is gonna come down to what happens with Todd Gurley in the first ten fifteen minutes the game. Kennedy get can they get him going if they can this could this could look a little bit. Like the early stages of the Atlanta game two years ago where the falcons looked very very fast early on. But so much of that again is predicated on being able to get the running game going. So you can get the best version of Jared Goff out there. I think you're also going to see the pack. I think you're gonna see the pats. Also, go against Tennessee today and show you a lot of gimmick coverages. A lotta was owned unusual usual pets play more man than any team in the league and Golic threw one interception against man this whole year. He threw twelve is thirty the substance against zone. I think you're gonna see them with a lot of the gimmick looks here where it looks like one thing, and it's not dropping guys back and they're faking coming and all the different stuff, and it's gonna be interesting to see if he handles that. Because you know, they're good at coming up with some really Shuki looks on stuff that one of them an early pick six really turns things around and I worry about him and his recognition early. That's why I think they might try to play a little more conservatively on offense early just to get him kind of his feet wet in the game. It'll be interesting to see if they do that. Yeah. I if you want to keep an eye on one thing my watch the play clock watch. What time there's there's snapping the ball. You know, one thing the patriots. Can-do? And and I think would do is if the if the if the if Sean McVeigh continues to take advantage of the Costa quarterback communication up to fifteen seconds right up to fifteen seconds left in the play clock. You could certainly see the patriots sending in two calls and switching right like shell one. Then give them something else. I think the one way for the Rams to combat that is to go is to go with the was no hot with model. Hoddle and snap the ball early in the play clock and sort of force the patriots to the Clare quickly. So I think that that part of it that part of it going to be a really interesting kind of inside the game piece of all this is what does the play like what are the Rams sapping and how much is on the play clock. And how are they sort of trying to force the patriots to declare what they're doing? I think that there's a way for the Rams to do it. And I think Sean McVeigh has shown over the last two years, you know, willingness to use tampo and use the play clock is a weapon just keep an eye on that in the first quarter. I think there's a very real chance we're going to see the Rams trying to get going. No, I don't try to get try try to try to get Jared Goff playing fast out there. There's risk. Of course, the risk in doing that sort of thing. You got a couple of now. Now, all of a sudden your defense might be out there for too long. But I do think that they're gonna fight that they're going to try to find a way to force the patriots. Declare what they're doing by using that play clock against them and make things a little bit easier on Jared Goff that way. I also think that you're going to see you're going to hear a lot about the lion games football teams because the lions did a great job. Now, I won't look at by ram final score. But did a great job against the Rams until they turn the ball over in that gap. And then the lie the the lions absolutely destroyed. The pats Brady was had one hundred thirty yards passing. They only had two hundred yards for the game. They got twenty six to ten and if you remember they took cow completely off the field that night and the interesting, and those lion tapes football teams, I'm sure they've been pulled over every minute of the last two weeks because they both did very both of those defensive game plans worked very well against both. These teams. Yeah. And you know, the different one of the interesting thing that's little different about this patriot team and a far we haven't seen from them. A lot is run defense hasn't been great this year. And they have been teams that have effectively control the game on the ground against them. And the lion game was one of them. They give one hundred fifty nine yards in that game. They gave up one hundred fifty yards. The Tennessee titans. Lost that one hundred eighty nine yards. So dolphins lost that one hundred and fifty yards. The Steelers lost that one. And so, you know, I think the lion tape could be pretty interesting for the Rams and that the lions found a way to run the ball on on on that patriot defense and the sort of boy them up front, and I that's where the that. That's where you get the Rams and their comfort zone. We saw three weeks ago and the Cowboys in the divisional round, and that's sort of a flaw. The patriots have had this year and trying to get more athletic and trying to get a little more versatile front. That's a flawed. They've had this year. And it never really fully went away. They've done much better job in the playoffs. But even late into the regular season. Trouble stopping their on side. Certainly something to watch. Listen both teams are going to try and run the ball. If they can the question is there going to be able to do it because you know, listen, you guys Sony Michelle trying to become one of the few guys who ever has. Three hundred yard games in the postseason that never happens. One hundred yards plus in both games. He's been very very good. And if that happens today, if they get one hundred yard show gets one hundred dollars, you can go home this game's over if he gets onto yours. But I I don't think they'll allow that to happen to be surprised if he's able to run the ball that. Well, it's it's part of the patriots have become and it's one of the things that's so impressive about what was done this year in building up that team. And and really kind of changed the face of who they are Mike they really have become a power running team. And the way that they were able to control the pass rush against the chargers. The way they were able to control the pass rush against the chiefs was right up main street with that running game over three hundred yards in those two games. And so, you know, that's the way to slow down a high flying offense is the way to control pass rush. And yeah, I mean, I'm with you. I certainly think the idea that they can control the game through Sony Michelle and the running game is there for them. And again, the the two bills credit they've really invested in the running game over the last year both time and resources they've seen it pay off in the play offs. And so he has job number one. It sounds funny playing against the an office. That's why by Tom Brady. But job number one for the Rams really is slowing down the running game. And we got a couple of guys we got a couple of guys who are going to be leaving today to become head coaches. Right after the game. We got one. Let's talk about them for a second. We got guys in his game who who had departing after the game. Yep. And that's Brian floors. Who's going to the Miami Dolphins? He's linebackers coach. The patriots is the factor defensive coordinator. He's already basically got the shell of a staff put together a Miami. Jim Colwell will be associated coach shadow shaves gonna be offensive coordinator, Patrick is going to be a Stevenson coordinator, lots of patriot ties and the staff that he's putting together down there. And he's got the relationship with Chris Bobby grew son or to New England for a long time, you know, and then and then Zac Taylor who game we mentioned him earlier, we were talking about McVay and. People being upset about a little bit of an overreach for the next McVeigh by other teams. There's actually I'll be off to Cincinnati after this one himself. I wondering that helps miss in this in this situation here, Mike is the fact that what both those guys they coach on the same side of the ball as the head coach exact terrorism offensive coach. So is Sean McVeigh Brian Florida's defensive coach Bill ballot. Check is too. And so you look at you look at the situation those guys are in and whether or not cause any sort of issue for these teams. Yeah. I think having the head coach being on the side of the ball these guys coach on mitigates any sort of problem that might have been there. Otherwise. Who who you picking on taking the patriots thirty five thirty one who you got you know, I would take the Rams with the points. I, you know, listen, I know the pats because Brady and the experience of very hard to be here. But I think the Rams have a lot of good players. And I think the game will be really close every every patriot game is I don't think the pats. Gus gives me a little you could give game could get away from them. That's the only thing that I have any fear of but they had some playmakers on defense with two lead with Donal would sue even a couple of their linebackers. I could see them having a decent day there. If they do I think they have a chance to win the game. So I would I would take the points in the game and hope for the best. Also, I wanna root against the pats. Anyway, so that's why I'm going to gaming. Yeah. The one thing that you got there. The one thing that you got there is that the the Rams are I think considerably faster, and that always helps the pats do have trouble against speed. But the difference in the quarterback play is very part because you know, Brady's not going to self destruct in the game. He's been here forever. He knows and sees everything and you got a young quarterback here. Who's not yet? A top player. Let's be honest. He's not he's going to have to play the game of his life in a very I'll be very interested early to watch him just to make sure that he doesn't have a case of. Oh my God. Look where I am which could happen. I mean, I've seen the guys before. The guys in the playoffs. You just hope. It doesn't happen to them today. If he doesn't I think it could be a fun game. Yeah. And again, you know, I can't I can't say enough Mike Tigar early. I think is very I think tacos a huge game. And if they get Todd Gurley going, I think it'd be very it'll be very easy for Jared Goff to keep his head about him in the first quarter of the game. Get himself going to run the ball. And again, the teachers have been susceptible to this ability to run the ball behind job girly. I think can absolutely make the difference in whether the Rams offense looks like the offense three weeks ago against the Cowboys. It looks like the one that struggled out of the game against the saints. Yeah. I I I just said that match up there that patriot that that ram offensive line against the patriot deal on and then what Todd Gurley looks like what are you can bring to the table now after missing so much that saints game. I.

I couldn't even get back downtown last night it stopped. That's how bad and I saw on the eleven o'clock news that they had just massive massive traffic jams last night in Atlanta, and they had to close the park. They had so many people in the Olympic walk. It had so many people that they had a client how they closed it. Because it's it's massive. I don't know how they close it. But they did. I waited forty five my boys, and I waited forty five minutes, I was going down and have dinner with Jim and he was throwing a private party. And I we did not move for forty five fifty minutes. And finally, we will that late to get down there. And I said that the driver forget it just if you could turn around he went over to grasp went the other way, and we went back to the hotel to the hotel where I was staying, and we just could not get in there. It was just impossible. So it was kinda crazy night here. All right. What did you think about the ebony any quibbles with any of the awards last night? No. I mean, I, you know, I said at the end of the year, I like breeze for MVP. But I there's absolutely no issue that I have with Patrick Mahomes winning MVP. I guess you could argue that like sometimes you'd like to see the MVP and offensive player of the year be different players. Yeah. He's here that though here though, he did here. And and then I did the one that sticks out to me that you know, I probably would have done differently. If I look at all of them, what would have been offensive rookie of the year. I probably would have given that Baker Mayfield. I'm glad Buckley. Got it. Because he's such a nice kid. He is really I don't know Baker Mayfield at all. But I thought they feel would win because I just thought the core. I said that the bulk the night to see him at the party, and I said to him, you know, what I'm afraid Queen of quarterbacks usually when these things because he really wanted to win the award, and I could tell he was very excited when he won. I'm glad he want. He's a very nice kid. I'm glad he wants. And I don't like, you know, what I mean, we're talking to these cases like if you have an issue mom's getting MVP over Braves Mahomes for fifty touchdowns. There's a little bit of an issue with Barclay getting off into rookie of the year over Baker Mayfield Barkley had two thousand scrimmage yards. And so it's not like any of these were were off. It's just a couple of them. I think you could make an argument for someone else. That's all how about the five guys who got into the current MVP. The current hall of fame guys any of the guys. Gonzales, read no brainer. Barely very solid. I love Thai law. So I think he deserves it Mewa is pretty much a borderline guy. I watch more. I play a lot. It was bills first signing when Bill I came to the jets who was his first free agent signing, and he turns out to be a great signing. He gave away a lot of money to get him to the jets. He had a really good career. Yeah. And I think they've, you know, it's it's interesting. I talked to cal- who who are in the room for my Monday column and. Yeah. They they mentioned this. I hadn't really looked at it. But they really do have sort of logjam of offensive linemen. And you know, they they feel like they need to start finding a way to get some of them in. And is there, of course. But then there's Tony the Sally who certainly. Not in Allen Fanta, very very good player for a long time. Then so number of options environment that I think they feel like deserve to be in that aren't in. And it'll be interesting to see how that part of it works out because it could be one after the next, you know, could be they they just put in one a year until they get that. They get the decks cleared. Yeah. Absolutely. And I'm telling you, there's not a happy man probably in the world and gillibrand to get in. Yeah. 'cause gillibrand his whole life has been the NFL. I mean every minute of it so him getting in you could tell gills get old, and you could tell that he was. Yeah, I'm sure that was a big deal fan getting into the hall of fame. And you know, I I I I worked with killed NFL network for a bunch of years just a really good guy. And he I always feel like the bar should be. Can you tell the story pro football without a guy, you know? And you can't tell a story pro football without gillibrand. He really did change the way scouting works and and help build a dynasty and Dallas. And you know, I I'd actually argue that over the years we haven't put enough scouts and general managers in and so it's good to take you'll get in. Let's get to the game. And you know, it's interesting. I always look for the themes. These are easy themes. You got the old new you got the young and old. You got the the established guys who have done so much. You got these new guys the new kids on the block who want to you know, you got. Got this young quarterback who's been a Radic. But he's gotten it very quickly. You got the coach who is the next. You know, everyone's ready to canonize is the next genius as the next great coach. And he will get there with a win today. He will take a big hit lost. But he will get there with a win and a lot of the league. And you know, we talked about this on the show this week. A lot of the league is not thrilled about his ascendancy. It's come very fast. I think everybody respects, Sean, I think everybody respects, Sean style done. I think everyone recognizes Sean, I think what you call coaching freak, right? Like, he is the total package. He's you know, very good with the exit good play collar game management. Very very good in the room. You know? And so. In so many ways he's a complete couches which is allowed her to do this at that age. I think people are a little upset with is sort of what they feel like is overreaching for the next one, you know. And so it's both Kingsbury exact Taylor's Matt leflore. It's all these guys who've gotten head coaching jobs. Head of guys who've probably been waiting a little if not a lot longer on those guys have, you know? And so I think that that's probably more than anything else where you see some of the backlash. It's not with Sean himself. It's with you know, maybe the overreach by some other teams to try and find the next one when you put this infra is remarkable today when you watch this game and McVeigh's really good. There's no question. He's got something. He's his team responded quickly to them when he became coach. She turned the culture around immediately. He's coached thirty five games in the NFL. Bella check has coast four hundred and twenty five. I mean that is think about that. I mean, that's not even counting the years with bell. Check was in assistant. I mean at a coordinator. I mean, you're talking about a guy who you have a professor here who is the professor emeritus who's basically the Albert Einstein. And you got a guy who's poached thirty five games. This guy's still wet behind. The is. That's an amazing thing when you think about the game. And it's you know, I think contrasting styles of the guys are alike in certain ways to they contract. Obviously an age ones on offense ones on defense NATO. But I think that there are similar in philosophy and how they see the game. Both teams play a match up game and can change from one thing to the next week to week basis. Both guys are very comfortable in their own skin. And you can tell when. Listen to them talk and hear him at the podium. Are you hear him in front of their team? You can tell how comfortable they are with who they are. And you know, I I think that there's just Iran talents with both of them to you know, and that part of it can't be overrated either. Because that's what allows you to be able to perform on the biggest stage and perform against the best and. Yeah. I think that there are a lot of things that you see with the two of these guys that are different. But a lot of the reasons why both guys are very very good. They wind right up with each other. Themes here. There's a couple of interesting ones level one Aaron Donald people want to call people wanna put Donnellan Reggie White class. They wanna put him in a Lawrence Taylor class. They wanna put him in. That's very special class. You know, what those guys in big games showed up and made a difference. They they destroyed blocking schemes they dominated games. Aaron Donald can't be silent today if he wants to be a great great player, and this is going to be a challenge for Mike. Because I mean, I think at least a piece of today is going to be and probably most of the day, they're gonna be scheming and devoting resources to stopping him. I mean, if there's one thing that that the patriots will not do is they usually will not let you beat them with their best with your best players. They're gonna find a way to take away. Whatever you do. Well, and they're gonna make you play left handed. And so I think the challenge for Donald today will be not getting frustrated, you know, the patriots are gonna throw everything Adam. You can find a way to kind of maintain his head. And and and and and take advantage of whatever few opportunities he has to make plays. Because again, I think that they're going to devote a lot to stopping him. And I think because that the key to the game maybe consume because Donald consumers the guy who is going to be saying better match ups in down a guy who's got the ability to take advantage of that was on. If you look at the Rams defensive line, and I'll take you back to last year Super Bowl the eagles really didn't get to Brady much early in that game. But you want to go to the game changing play in the fourth quarter. If you look Brandon Graham makes that play right? He's one on one. And the reason he's one on one is because Fletcher Cox is heating up double team. And so I think that's well. At least some of what we're going to have to see from the Rams defense today is whatever opportunities Aaron Donald has. They gotta hope he takes advantage of them. But for most of the game they need to win his match ups because he's the one who's going to be getting the mashups. He is going to get. At the single. But you know, what those great guys Reggie White Taylor. They beat double teams. They be the great player. The really got the unstoppable guy. If there's a point in this game. You know, if you're if you're watching this game early and all of a sudden there's Aaron Donald and he's not Brady on his rear end. You got got some problems. I mean, if I see that once early I know it'll make a big difference in this game because that doesn't happen. And when it happens it really does impact how they play. And you know, what I talked to talk about that this week in tuck said he even invited some he didn't like that. He got double teams that time in that game. Because he thought he gave a gave him some edges off the at certain places. I wanna see also if they moved on because I think that's critical. I think you gotta you can't stay in one place. I don't care if you're suited to play one spot. You can't stay in one place against the pats and think they're not going to block you. They are you gotta move them around. And the guys who beat them beat them, usually. With speed. They usually don't beat them with power. They beat him with speed because the pats are physical team or big team. Yeah. Beat him with speed moves. You don't beat him with the power moves. Yeah. You know, I I they were the key with the Rams the way that Rams defensive line set up to Mike is they're set up to be you from the inside. And if you wanna look at what beats Brady, and this is generally, not pressured. Soga with this seat able to get himself out of trouble. If you're coming off the edges if you come right up the middle item. That's where he's historically had trouble. And you want to go back to the giants game. What did they do at Justin talk? They move just talking inside every talk was creating problems not from the outside the inside. And that's the one thing. That's so interesting about this particular matchup is that you've got now one but two guys inside who can play inside on early downs and on passing downs. And that that right there should be vantage. Rams because that's where you get break. You get from the inside. No, quite always he wants to step up. He doesn't want to go left. And right. He wants to step up in that. And that is key. So he is the other one is the young ram quarterback. Because the x one scary part is game for me. And I think the Rams have a very good team. And they can physically stay with the pads, which is key. You gotta prove first of all that you can play physically with the past. I think the Rams can I don't think there's any question. They can..

"Maguire free agency and Kevin. Why had a great run wonderful center gets in. And then the three older guys in the senior way. Pat, bolan the very very important owner of the Denver Broncos. There was a time. We're Pat bolan was one of the two or three most important and active and dominant owners in the league is suffering from Alzheimer's. He's not good. Kids on the stage there last night. So that's a very big day for the ball and family Bechtol and made enormous contributions to the NFL Gil Brandt who was part of the triumvirate who built the Dallas Cowboys, as you know, the Dallas Cowboys now they were built by Textron by Auvinen clerk Murchison and by personnel guy named Bill Bill Brandt. Gillibrand spin around the NFL is giving his life to the NFL song come out last night. As an older, man. But I know it meant the world to gillibrand to get that all the fame. So that was a nice thing. They did putting him in the hall of fame, and then Johnny Robinson who was a very good player in his own right years and years ago. So that's your group as far as the awards. It wasn't a big deal Mahomes. One VP surprise. Donald defensive player squad. Barclay beat out Baker Mayfield for the offense rookie, which is good because the good kid. Nice kid glady one defense rookie was Leonard who had a great year for the colts comeback player, of course, who had a wonderful season. And the coach was the bears Matt Nagy so nothing to quibble about their. So that gets all the stuff that happens on Saturday out of the way, good hall of fame group, Northern Ireland anybody there that group that I think is in doesn't deserve to get in the older guys. We know is different the five guys who got in Gonzales read, Bailey law more why not a big deal. I think they're all very very good. The one that some micro with this is Milwaukee. But more I was a really good center. Very mobile, very active. Very very good guy. Very good player for a long time. Very solid players. So. A guy who was a bit of a club house lawyer. So maybe people thought that might hurt him a little bit. But it didn't. And he deserves to get in there. We've got a lot on the game as you would expect we will get everything get all rolling from Atlanta. Right after this. Morning. There was a freshly..

"Football Sunday. So was good to hear again. Good morning, everybody the first word from Atlanta, and we all back on the fan. And of course on the Mike's on app with my football Sunday show. So good morning everybody everywhere who's on the mic on including we have person who subscribes from New Zealand. So we want to say Hello to him too. And also everybody back on WFAN where we did this show for thirty straight years on Sunday morning every single morning on Sundays during the football season twenty two year for thirty straight years. And so that music was good to hear again haven't heard in a while. And it was it was music to my ears to hear that on Sunday morning. So good morning everybody. We are the first word from Atlanta on this super Sunday. You'll have plenty of stuff to listen to and hear about the game, which will come your way. At six thirty this evening was a little drizzly in Atlanta this morning, as we headed out to do the show, you know. Out last night as I was at six thirty. After I made the draftkings appearance and that was twenty four hours to the middle win the game which thought a few minutes from the stadium maybe five blocks from the stadium. I was and I said feeling the weather that night, and it'd been warm during the day. I said no way they opened the the roof said no way because actually felt that was a little chilly. So I'll be surprised. I mean, there's been a lot of debate about whether the roof will be open tonight. I'd be surprised if it is. I think it will be closed. I just have a feeling because I actually I thought they you know, they want optimum perfect conditions for the game. It's not gonna rain supposedly by gametime might rain a little up to noon. It did rain when I was coming out this morning. Drizzle a little bit. But I just had a feeling the building will be a closed, and you won't get a chance to see the skyline today at Atlanta. But again, it's a beautiful stadium. You get to see that on view. I'm sure as you watch all the pregame stuff today. You'll see a lot about the stadium. As a Lanta gets ready to give you its first Super Bowl nineteen years. And hopefully, a good one between the Rams and the pats. This is the. The old versus the New York. I mean, you have a twenty four year olds quarterback going against an iconic Forty-one-year-old quarterback. You have a Thirty-three-year-old head coach who's the. Decide was the youngest head coach in NFL history. And who has taken only thirty five games to get to the Super Bowl, which is a remarkable achievement. And then you have Bill Belichick who is sixty six years old. Who thirty three years ago was a defensive coordinator in the Super Bowl for the giants. And since then has spent his entire life in the Super Bowl. You realize that Brady and Bill check our back to the ninth time. But Bellichik went once with the jets to the Super Bowl where they lost to the Packers and twice. I mean once once with the pats to the Super Bowl as an assistant when they lost to the Packers that was poor cells last year in of Foxborough before he went to the jets. And then he was there twice with in winning games with the giants as he was there with Parcells when they won the Super Bowl against the Broncos in Pasadena, and then when they had the classic game in Tampa still the best Super Bowl ever played. Super Bowl twenty five in Tampa Gulf war setting bills giants and the game plan the game plan that Bella check constructive was. Considered one of the great ones of all time ended actually is in the hall of fame. But what was lost in that game on? That was the fact that the offensive game plan which the pats have dusted off this year was to play ball control to pound the ball to keep the ball away from the other team and limit exposure. And they use that as recently as last week. Because they kept the ball away from the chiefs the entire game and the chiefs amazingly two weeks ago scored thirty one points in twenty minutes with the football. They had the ball twenty minutes. The pats at the ball, forty-three minutes. They had twenty minutes in the game actually scored thirty one points all in the second half twenty four in the fourth quarter. So. In that game. The bills had the ball. Just nineteen minutes at one point. If you have the drive the giants had going into the half and the job the giants had coming out of the gym Kellyanne offense his cake on offense at it. Put up fifty one points against the raiders the week before the week before in the SEC title game did not touch the ball for over one and a half hours. If you count the halftime and the two drives they did not touch the football for an hour and a half. And they thought that was a big factor in the defeat. And again, I don't think that will be the game plan today. I think we'll have a different game. Because one thing you know, about the pats is every games different game. Every opponent is a different opponent. Every game plan is a completely different game plan they might play completely differently than they did the last time they played, but you have the young. Obviously. Quarterback who was proof at twenty four who's been good and made plays in these playoffs. What has been Radic down the stretch of the season? He was not a very good quarterback. Once he lost Kupa. Cobb matter of fact, he was radical order back for weeks. They had to settle him down even change the fence. They went from all their eleven personnel where they led the league basically playing eleven personnel which is three wide receivers ninety three to ninety five percent of the time to where they're now. Limiting it and playing twelve personnel. Twenty seven percent of the time since then to basically take some of the pressure off the quarterback who was having a very tough time since he lost Kupa Cup. Godless missed more open receivers deep than any quarterback in the NFL this year. He cannot have that kind of game today. He cannot be that kind of a Radic if they want to be Super Bowl champions is going to have to make throws. But they have the people they have the personnel. And they are very well drilled. They won a game on the road against a team that does not losing their building. All right. We all know what went on. And that's one of the themes of this game. We all know what went on with the call. We all know the saints got screwed. There's no way around that. The saints would have won the game. I mean, there's just no way around it was blatant. Sharon school forget him with the helmet hit. And we all know that. And that's been one of the themes, and it's really put a little bit of a chip on the young Rams because they feel like they've heard too much about how they don't belong here. That's one of the themes in this game. Obviously, the young mentor who's about to become the new fixture in the NFL in McVeigh, his assistance already becoming head coaches at these ripe. You know, young ages. And then of course, what Bella check in radio status, which is just mind boggling. Brady as a baby went up against that greatest show on turf ram team. The pats were to touch down on the dogs in that game. Nobody gave them a chance to win that game. And they won that game. They got out to a fast lead. They shut the Rams down. The Rams finally got their offense going got the game tied. And then in the last thirty seconds Brady made big play and the kick. And then they went on to win that game big upset and launched this dynasty that was seventeen years ago to the day that it happened and the Rams now with the young coach looking to build his own dynasty, or at least is own level of success is back against those men pats and the pats are favoured slightly two points. Not like the fourteen the Rams will favored that day. The pats have not been good favorites in the Super Bowl that we were good on the dog that day when they won. But most of their games have been very close almost all of them in close, and you could make a very strong case that the pats should have lost their last five Super Bowl appearances. They've lost three of their last five two to the giants including the devastating one when they defeated. They will to the giants where they had leads in the fourth quarter. Both times delay mounting. Brought the giants back behind good defensive efforts. But then took him from behind in the fourth quarter. On numerous occasions and made big plays in the fourth quarter beat them twice. They won the game against Seattle where we all know what p Carrollton on the goal line and they won the game against Atlanta which game that this town. And this Atlanta team has not gotten over just a couple of years ago was the pats won an overtime after they were down twenty eight to three in the game. And it's still a devastating loss for Atlanta. Amazing comeback win for Brady of the pats. And then last year, of course, the eagles beat the pats. So that's three losses in the last five, but overall they have won five of their eight appearances. Now, they try to win a sixth Super Bowl. It's remarkable with these guys have done. It's from would Brady has done. He has spent his life in the playoffs you spent his life in the Super Bowl. And now he makes his ninth appearance here at the ripe age of forty one and saying that there's nothing stopping him as he hopes to play. At least forty five and who with this point would. Have a regular guests will be hit a twelve. We'll get two minutes real. We'll get a lot of calls on because we have everybody from the fan today. So we will stay up until twelve and take your calls that you get your predictions. Then we'll do that. At the end is we do on super Sunday every year. We'll give you a chance to give me one liners on the game. I mentioned the whole famous got in yesterday was a big group. Tony gonzalez. The great tight end question gets in on the first go round, remarkable athlete. You know could've played basketball became a tight end brilliant receiver Bill just wanted a great productive tight ends of all time. Ed read one of my favorites. One of the great safeties one of the incomparable defensive players in the history of the league really as good as they get another guy who is a lock hall of Famer champ Bailey who the longtime quarterback got in Tylar who was really the guy who was the difference in the pats for Super Bowl win a lot of people felt laws should have been the MVP of the game. He wasn't usually the quarterback winds up the MVP even sometimes when he doesn't deserve it. It's just the way it goes. That's just the nature of quarterbacks. But law was an enormous factor in the pats early success when they started to build this thing, he was a very big part of it. Tie law, Willie mcginest Tedy Bruschi guys like that who really were a very big part. Of what's been done in New England. Kevin Milwaukee the Senate played in Seattle. When Parcells went to the jets one of the first things he did was signed Kevin.
