"In it by doing something prematurely, but at some point you have to know when you need to move. And I think they owe it to the browns to the browns fans to the opponents who have to figure out who are we going to be facing and also to those 7 sports book partners out there that like to put the browns back on the board. We don't have the browns futures bets. We would like to make a little money off of the people who want to put some money on the browns either to make the playoffs or not to win over or under whatever their win total is going to be. They're off the board on that. There's no wind total for the browns yet because we don't know who a quarterback's going to be. But it does the league and has everything been does the league know everything is the overarching question. And let me fill in back for a little bit with you, Mike florio. Have all the depositions between Watson and his accusers taking place because if on the NFL, last thing I want to do is make a determination. Start this entire process that you just talked about. And then find out something in one of those depositions that makes my ruling or the league's ruling look lenient. And a perfect example is what I read on your site. Through your Twitter account at pro football talk, that of an excerpt from one of the depositions, the first accuser of deshaun Watson and deshaun Watson admitting, yeah, he did send her a text to apologize because he saw her tearing up after their massage hoping that he sending a texting, I hope he could still work. We can still work together again. Of course, that leaves a question of anybody who's reading this saying, what happened to make somebody cry and him to acknowledge it through a text because it was so obvious. That's what I'm saying. I mean, is this all done? Does the NFL know everything in time for next Friday? That's a great point. They're not going to know everything until the 22 cases are resolved. And if they go to trial, it's going to take every bit of next off season and beyond. You're talking about 22 different cases. 22 different juries. 22 different plaintiffs. Packed into an off season. Good luck scheduling 22 trials, assuming that they aren't settled. And he could have settled an 18 of them last year. The dolphins wanted all 22 to be settled before they would trade for him. 18, we're ready to go four held out and Watson decided to not settle any unless he could settle all. I think in hindsight, he probably if he were being candid would say, would have been nice to knock this group of 22 cases down to four cases a little easier to manage. But rich, because of what you said, that's why I think there's a chance that what they'll do is make a decision on punishment based on what they already know, what has been admitted, what they learn from their conversations with the accusers and with Watson, what he admits to what he doesn't. Remember, rusty harden his lawyer admitted last year that some of these massage therapy sessions he would line up via Instagram would become consensual sexual encounters. That may be enough for the league to say we're troubled by this pattern of behavior. We think intervention is required. A lot of the reasoning that applied to Ben Roethlisberger back in 2010 when he got suspended 6 games reduced to four with no arrests, with no charges. With civil cases eventually settled. I think what they could do is suspend him a certain amount now and leave the door open for the possibility based upon how the civil cases go and how they're resolved and what the verdicts are or aren't to take action again later. They kind of did that with Antonio Brown in 2020. He was suspended 8 games for a variety of off field misdeeds. He still had a pending civil lawsuit alleging that he had engaged in sexual assault and rape and they said, we're going to leave the door open. Pending what happens here? So I think it's kind of a mixed bag. It's kind of a half measure, but I think it makes sense. It deals with what they know now and it leaves the door open to deal with what they may learn later. Mike florio pro football talk here on the rich eisen show. So open the door in a couple of offshoots of what's happening right now again deshaun Watson in the league meeting with one another in interview happening between the league and deshaun Watson. And while we're waiting for the results of that, the ripple effect of his contract is $230 million all guaranteed contract. I've got Darius Smith coming on in our number two you're reporting is already pointed out how other contracts von Miller being one of them helped kind of upset the conversations between Smith and the ravens to the point where the ravens were like, yeah, you keep coming back to us. We're not going to pay that. He winds up in Minnesota. We already had Brett veach on last week, and he basically admitted that Christian Kirk contract the Devante Adams contract totally blew up what was going on between the chiefs and tyreek hill. Is there something up with the Cardinals and Kyler Murray because of what was paid to deshaun Watson? How are the ripple effects based on your knowledge so far? Well, look, we've heard from multiple owners who have said openly that they're troubled by the fact that Watson gets a fully guaranteed 5 year $230 million contract because agents are going to turn around and expect the same thing for other quarterbacks. And look, most franchise quarterbacks get every penny of their contracts or they get renegotiated and they get a raise before the contracts expire..

"Joining us here is the man who kicks things off every single day and then at certain parts of the year ends it every single day on NBC sports on peacock. The host of PFT live, the creator of pro football talk and the author of playmakers, which is still available all books are sold. Mike florio back here on the Mercedes Benz vans, phoned on. How are you doing, Mike? Rich, I'm doing great. It's great to talk to you. I love the peacock conversation. I know the terrestrial audience. I can get to hear it. But the good news for me we're no longer on over the air FCC regulated radio. I was talking to DP about this yesterday. Sims and I have been testing the limits of what we can say before we get a phone call from somebody higher on the food. Yeah, you got to work in blue. Aren't you? Mike, you guys are working blue on occasion. Always lives blue. He doesn't have to work it. That's just him being him. And he's starting to have a bad influence on me after 5 years. So we've been dropping a few from time to time. And nobody has said anything. So like Dan said, Ian Keith olbermann used to do it on SportsCenter late night to see if the executives were watching and they just came to the conclusion that they weren't. So maybe that's what's happening with us. Stuart Scott and I always talked about how we wanted to do a pay per view sports center where we could say whatever we wanted to say and use whatever words we wanted to use. And boy, we never got to do that. Obviously. But you got to pick and choose your spots. Which story were players caused you guys to curse more? Lately. Probably Tom Brady just because he's everywhere. And that's a point Sims made today that I think is a valid one. When you look at all the stuff Brady's doing, you still playing. He's got the $375 million deal with Fox that is looming whenever he finally retires. He's got the Netflix greatest roast of all time series. He's an executive producer and he's the subject of the first rose. He's got the movie. He's executive producing about the four octogenarians who go to Atlanta to watch him play in Houston to watch and play Atlanta in both 51. I think it is. I mean, he's everywhere. At what point is he overexposed of what point is there a natural backlash? Because people have reached their lifetime limit of Tom Brady. Well, ever. How about this? How about this though, Mike? Let's just put it this way. Even with everything that you just said. And I'm sure there's more to come, too. Because we're not even talking about his clothing line and everything else and his outstanding social media game that puts him in our timeline every now and then. That still hasn't even swung the pendulum back from the first 20 years of his career where he did nothing. And he hardly said anything and all he did was just the patriot way and I think we're just we're just seeing him let his freak flag fly a little bit and maybe we're seeing a side of Brady that we're going to see more of when he's in our living rooms in front of 40 to 50 million other households on big Fox games. We're coming. He is that kid that went to college after growing up in the house without a drop of alcohol anywhere to be seen and just goes crazy. Freshman year. Drinking everything he can find, making up for lost time. And you're right, the 18 years of silence may be helps people deal with the fact that he's everywhere now, but he's everywhere now. And he keeps finding new places to show up. It's just amazing. And there will be a critical mass at some point. I think if he just keeps popping up everywhere and anywhere that we happen to be paying attention. Mike florio here on the rich eisen show. In the I guess more serious quarterbacking world right now, the NFL and deshaun Watson are having a sit down confab about his 22 civil cases right now that's happening this week. It's happening this week and they've got to make a decision. And they've got to understand that there's a timeline that's created by the procedure at the NFL adopted in 2020. It's kind of a sandwich between the commissioner and outside person and the commissioner. The league will propose a suspension. There's an independent disciplinary officer hired and paid jointly by the league in the union that will investigate, presumably have a hearing issue, a decision on what suspension or discipline of any there will be. Then the commissioner has the exclusive appeal. Jurisdiction, which means he can, in theory, as long as there's any discipline imposed on deshaun Watson. Let's say the league says we want to put I'm just thrown out an example here for illustration. Let's say the league says we want them out for a whole year. Disciplinary officer says, as one game. The commissioner on appeal can say, nah, it's a year. And that's it. Final binding boom bang the gavel and see you later. Deshaun Watson. But whatever plays out, it's going to take time. I think they're setting this up for next Friday, Memorial Day weekend, little bad news dump on the three day weekend. What they propose, the punishment to be. And then the disciplinary officer would kick in after that. And this all gets wrapped up by Labor Day weekend. So everyone will know whether or not he's going to be playing week one or if not week one when he'll be back. That's your timeline for this thing, huh? I can make sense. They got to start doing something. At some point, the NFL doesn't like to make a decision rich until it has to. But at some point, the mere fact of delay is the mistake..

"People lost their mind over two nights when that glass shattered and he came out. There was just a great moment and like a suggestion they for us to have that for free in this studio a few weeks ago, it was impressive and amazing and man, I had a great time this weekend at WrestleMania and if you were there, hit us up in our YouTube comments. Let me know what you thought. There you go. And be positive. Because TJ really doesn't want to hear from your other one. While we're being honest, they didn't invite you to the suite. I invited you on our behalf to the sweet and they said, okay. Okay, well, I mean, I don't know why do you need to say that? I was feeling good about myself. I was hyping them up. And then what you did is you invited you didn't make me look bad. I think you made them. I invited ourselves for us. I'm just saying, well, regardless, thank you then, because it was awesome. If not us, I watched the first WrestleMania and to be there at 38. I want to thank today's guests, beef jerky, cam jergens, Mike florio, Giancarlo Esposito, a John Harbaugh have a great weekend, everybody. Distracted driving is a serious problem on our roadways, leading to the deaths of thousands of people, and injuries in the hundreds of thousands each year. When you take your eyes and your focus off the road, even for a second, it can be deadly. Not just for you, but for other drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists. Sadly, many Americans use their cell phones while driving. Whether it's texting, checking emails, scrolling media feeds, or any other form of distraction, drivers are putting themselves and others at a great risk. It's important to know that 48 states have banned texting and driving. Also, 25 states prohibit all drivers from using cell phones while driving. Distracted drivers are not only putting people at risk, they're also probably breaking the law. Look, it's dangerous to use your cell phone behind the wheel. That's why law enforcement officers write tickets and enforce hands free and anti texting and driving laws..

"Shut. A few weeks ago that Pete Carroll said he has no intention to trade Russell Wilson. And I don't say that flippantly. When we say no intention intention changes. And I think part of this game and I don't want to trivialize it, but there is a certain gamesmanship to it. When you're dealing with a lawyer who represents the 22 individuals who know that if the person who's been sued shows excessive urgency to settle the case, what happens price goes up. That's the way it works. People look at that and say, oh, I thought it was about justice and truth and no, at a certain point, it's about how much are you going to pay me to settle this case and how much is it worth to you to not have this cloud hanging over you, your employer and your new NFL city. So if he says on Friday, I want to settle these cases, price goes up. So he tried to finesse it by saying no intention to settle. I want to clear my name. That's the signal that his camp has been sending. They intend to go forward. They intend to fight. They intend to prevail and think about how the process is going to go. You're not going to try all 22 at once. You're talking about one after another. It's going to take half of a year at least to process these cases. Unless you don't want two or three a week and maybe you can. I don't know. But you're talking about a lot of work, a lot of effort to go through 22 trials. I think at the right moment at the right time, they make settlement offers. They come up with a way to properly resolve these cases. Jimmy haslem said he trusts that Desean Watson's camp will do the right thing. And the one thing that I think Watson's camp needs to understand. I'm not sure that they did as of a week ago. Maybe they do now. If there's 22 cases pending rich when the season rolls around, there's a real good chance he's ending up on paid leave. 22 is too many. One or two, you know, who can stop anyone from suing anyone else for anything. You get to 22, you're at the point where something happened that shouldn't have happened here. And we're not going to let this guy play until these cases are resolved. So to the extent that he thinks he's going to get suspended 6 games and everything's going to be fine. He may not play for a full year. And then next year he'd get suspended. And then it would be over. So that's something he needs to factor into his intention or not to settle these cases. So I guess the follow-up to that before we move on to a couple other items is, what do you think the commissioner is going to say when he meets with the media? A couple of times over the next several days at the annual meeting down in Florida. What do you think he's going to say? He'll basically say what they said in their statement last week. These are serious allegations that we continue to study very carefully whatever question he gets asked to recite some version of that and they'll move on. I really do think that's what will happen. It's part of what he gets 65 million a year for. Those four times a year when he's in a press conference and the tough questions come his way. He finds a way to get through the minefield and move on to the next topic. So I don't think we'll get anything new or any type of revelation. Now, the off season program starts April 19 for the browns and they expect Desean Watson to be there and in theory he could be put on paid leave before then. But the NFL typically waits until football season to do that kind of thing because if you put him on paid leave then you make it a big deal and more people know about it. This is ultimately a PR tool for the NFL to take the heat out of the hot kitchen and put the guy on paid leave. So I think they continue to work privately and I think they hope that the case is settled so they can move on to figuring out whether or not there's a suspension. But otherwise, to not make this a bigger story than it is. Do you think it's possible he gets on the commissioner's exempt list until everything gets settled and then he'll get, he'll get suspended. It's entirely possible this 5 year deal that he might not play for an entire first year of it. I think it's entirely possible that it's 22 cases are pending when August rolls around and put him on paid leave. And I think that he needs to understand that no uncertain terms. And once he does, that's when his no intention to settle the case is will become every intention to settle the cases. But he's got to understand what it means to fight. And even though there's not a price to be paid because he still gets paid. The price is you don't get to play. And the NFL has always said they don't think that's punishment. Of course it's punishment. I mean, you want to give anybody else a pay vacation from their job, 99% of the people out there who say I'll take it. But for football players, they want to do their job. They want to play, especially after a guy set out all the last year for different reasons, but similar, this year he starts his time in Cleveland with the leak saying, you're on ice until these 22 cases are over. If he knows that, then he gets these cases settled, I believe. Mike florio here on the rich eisen show, possible that Kaepernick gets a shot here. He was working out. He's talking in front of microphones. We talked about it last week. That that would be in my mind the last piece of the wildest off season three week period in the history of the NFL. Is there any there there on that front from what you're hearing?.

"Let's see on your application, your compensation for us to trade you Desean Watson. And then what's in the bank saying that I will not grant you this loan or this mortgage because I don't want to come to you or the Texans and Watson after all this time, finally working in concert. Is that what you are? And you know what? I love a good metaphor, but this is basically Aaron Rodgers with out the packers trying to conceal the notion that a situation has been engineered where the quarterback is picking a team that the packers allowed, I believe, his agent David Dunn to set up potential trades, the terms are in place the compensation is in place and all Aaron Rodgers has to do is pick his next team, but the packers were one of the options and that's the team he picked. For Watson, same approach, we know about it, but the Texans aren't on the menu. It's going to be one of these four teams that we know about and whoever else may come to the table. But I know there was talk yesterday of the forty-niners in play. I don't think anybody else could really be in play secretly. There's too many moving parts, too many people have to know about it for it to be kept as secret. So you have to be prepared. If you're going to make this play for Watson, that people are going to know about it. And then I guess the legal aspect of it is, I mean, didn't he have depositions taken civilly yesterday? I mean, the minute that no criminal that no bill came back from the grand jury last Friday, that's all teams needed to pretty much know. They figure everything else can be handled. There's no problem. Calculated risk there. And not getting indicted on non criminal complaints means only that you didn't get indicted. It doesn't mean he didn't do it. It doesn't mean that he is free and clear and faces no legal jeopardy in the civil system. There's 22 lawsuits that have to be resolved. He's either going to have those cases settled, maybe he gets a dismissal of some of them. He may have to go to trial on some. He could win. He could lose. I don't know when the league is going to take action. The league has learned in recent years that it's best to wait until the last possible minute to do anything. And maybe they defer action on Watson situation until the civil cases are over and really rich. If he would take all 22 of them to try and win every one of them. And he didn't get indicted. What is the league do? What can the league do at that point? Is it a violation of the personal conduct policy if you have been aggressively pursued in both branches of the justice system and prevailed in every outcome? I don't know. I don't know. We may find out eventually, but I think what's happened is and this has worked very well to the benefit of the Texans and the watts and deshaun Watson. Over the weekend, this market kicked up and I think you've got teams that are saying, you know what, whatever the short term pain is, whatever the PR hit may be. Whatever we may have to deal with in 2022, we're going to have a franchise quarterback for ten years. And winning cures everything. One of the chapters in playmakers talks about how quickly Ben Roethlisberger was redeemed in Pittsburgh by what by winning. And I think the teams that Walt Watson are betting that he's going to go there and he's going to play so well that this is all going to be forgotten. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but we've seen it play out before. Mike florio here on the rich eisen show, what happened with Randy Gregory and the cowboys and the Broncos on Tuesday. Very simply, and I'll try to be as succinct as possible. Monday night, he was ready to do a deal with the Broncos. The cowboys got involved. The cowboys talked him into sticking around the cowboys were willing to match what the Broncos were going to pay. The cowboys previously weren't going to go that far, but then came the contract. And there's language in every contract that will result in future guaranteed money being voided. And for most teams, if not, all teams but the cowboys, it's tied to being suspended. The cowboys, for every player except at Prescott, will wipe out future guarantees if you're simply fined under the substance abuse policy. That's one of the examples. And that's pertinent for Randy Gregory because he's had multiple substance abuse policy issues. So as it relates to Gregory, 28 million guaranteed 14 million paid this year, 14 million base salary next year fully guaranteed. In Dallas, the risk he was taking if he agrees to their contract is written. If he has any fun under the substance abuse policy between now and September of 2023, they can wipe out the guarantees and they can cut him. And those guarantees save guys jobs all the time. Ezekiel had stolen the cowboys because he's got a $12.4 million fully guaranteed salary this year. If that wasn't guaranteed, he's gone. It's over. It's done. So Gregory's protecting himself. And Peter schafer who represents Gregory, told me on the record that they gave the cowboys a chance to remove that language and do the same deal at the Broncos do. And they declined. So if they're mad at anybody rich, they need to be mad at themselves. So what is the cowboys planned, do you think? They kept tank Lawrence, Amari Cooper's gone. They signed Gallup, Cedric Wilson, is now a dolphin, which I think is a sneaky terrific signing by Miami, and so Zeke still there, Pollard still there. Dalton Schultz. What do you think the plan is here with the team on a coach on everyone on a contract year? What's Dallas's deal? And it's funny, you mentioned the dolphins and said, well, listen, I don't want to wake up to and on, but I love the teddy Bridgewater signing. It's a sneaky under the radar. We could maybe teddy can become the guy, but we're not going to advertise that for fear of angering the masses who love to. But the cowboys already are taking a look at von Miller. He's available Chandler Jones is available. Jade avian clown is available. I mean, when he's healthy and it doesn't happen very often, he can be as dominant as anyone in the NFL has ever been, but we see how important the pass rush is. And the cowboys prioritize keeping Randy Gregory and the Broncos had their opportunity to snatch. I mean, look at the AFC west between the quarterbacks and the pass versus holy crap, but the cowboys had better find somebody and there aren't a whole lot of options out there. And then a couple more minutes left with Mike Floyd here on the rich eisen show. The Kyler Murray situation, his agent Eric burkhart, with the Jerry Maguire like treatise dropped during combine week..

Leotard and Pete Rozelle's phone bank there's so much stuff. I want to see them all there. I want to see it next to all the relics. That's right. Tom Dempsey. I see captain Kirk. Tom Dempsey's half shoe. I want to see captain Kirk. And his pen. Captain starlog. In canton, Ohio. That's the current state of quarterbacking affairs in the National Football League. Because we enter the new league gear today. Do you think scientists in the future will study that pen? It's a relic. Well, I just think it is something that we need to show children. And their grandchildren. We'll hold it up like it's only 33. That's what I'm saying. Because unless, unless he goes on a run that would shock and I think please, many people, quite frankly, winning two super bowls in his final 7 years. That pen might be the only way he gets in the pro football thing. Well, he's only 33. I mean, I'm saying he could get another contract. He's going to make over $300 million. Yeah, he's probably going to play Louis 40. He's going to play to his 40. Take the pan. Put it in the hall. It's all I'm saying. All right, we will take a break. Mike florio's first up. "Do you think do you think NFL players should be allowed to bet on NBA games? I don't know how you would prevent that. And that's what I mean like you're opening up a can of worms. Do I think it's a big problem? Even if they had inside info, I mean, other people have inside info. You don't think some of these bookmakers and all these people have some kind of inside info or people that do broadcasters or whatever. So I mean, how can you be a gambler? And they want all these restrictions. It's no sense. Look, I think where you're dealing with the sport, you have to have some kind of rules in place. Do I care if Calvin Ridley or Aaron Rodgers or whoever places a bet on the Knicks? No. And I think that when it's become legal, then why shouldn't you? Now, they're allowed though, aren't they? Aren't they allowed to bet on the there's not a lot of bad on the NFL? Right. Right. Okay, so that makes sense. I mean, that's fine. I just think it's a very slippery slope where you're playing with these athletes that can, you know, that can bet on the games. Otherwise, then just open it up and understand that you're living in a world where everybody can bet on everything and that's that. And the players get paid enough, so where it's not going to impact the games, or finally you come around to my point. Well, but you can even go back to Pete Rose. You think Pete Rose is doing something you shouldn't have been doing as far as as far as fixing a game? I don't. Again, he broke a rule, but I don't think what he did is that big of a deal. Well, he was betting on his team to win. So I don't think it's a big deal. But the guy suspended for life. He's never going to get in the whole thing. It's a 100% absurd. But I understand it. I don't like it. I don't agree with it. I understand because of what it could lead to. If you open it up and say, oh, well, we could bet on our team. You would definitely have see, even want the Tim Donnie thing, one of those is enough to turn the fan. Yeah, it's different. Right, but it could happen moving forward with somebody if you don't have a harsh penalty. I would say. All right, we'll see you next week. This was good. Yeah, go make your wagers. Yeah. No, no, I'm clean for now. Anyway. Now we'll see what happens. All right. All right, my many thanks to Chris mad dog Russo, Mike florio and my buddy Sal la cata for coming on the show this week. "You hear the things that Ron Rivera and Martin may who have said from Washington. How can they not be in the mix, even if it is a PR mess. Somebody's going to get him, but he is likely to face a suspension to start the season. Gotcha. All right, Mike has a new book out, playmakers, how the NFL really works. And doesn't tell everyone what it's about. Well, it takes a look, Jimmy at the last 20 years in the NFL through a series of stories, scandals, controversies, interesting little things that when you see the name of the chapter, you may think, why the hell did this idiot reserve a thousand words for this topic and the explanation may be that the guy who wrote it's an idiot, but it also may be there's something interesting in there that you'll see and when you read it and understand how it was handled, you'll get some insight into how the NFL operates and maybe where it needs to improve. So we broke it down into ten different categories and within each category it goes chronologically over the last 20 years. Different examples, different controversies, whether it's spygate, whether it's the Mike Vick situation, whether it's the Jon Gruden trade from 20 or from 2002, whatever it is that I think is instructive on how the league works, how the league doesn't, and then the final section is about the future, the things the league needs to be concerned about, a lot of gambling stuff in there, not just you better be concerned about people gambling, but you better be damn concerned about how you're inside information is handled. Whether it's injury reports, we know those are worthless. Somebody knows the truth, who's getting paid for the truth. Game planning. Who's getting paid to tell somebody what the plan is for the star running back this week? Is it going to be over or under 65.5 yards? Whatever the case may be, there's a lot of insight information in the NFL currently doesn't have a good procedure in place to protect it..

"Phone. Marv. Thanking me for the kind words and enjoys my column. Now would make you feel good. And here's what an I texted it to my best friend who I've been best friends with since 7th grade. And I said, do you remember when we were in high school? We would go in my parents driveway with the basketball who put on Mike and the mad dog. Before the Knicks and rangers playoff games, shoot hoops, play horse, listen to Mike and Chris and imitate Marv Albert, and then Marv Albert texted me. Yeah, that would make you feel good. And he's good with that. He's done that before and he reads everything. That's a great job. I thought you'd like that one. I like that one. I had more bonds too when he before we turned out. I love the spot. I love this spot. Yeah. I love it. Let's do serious XM here for a little bit. You know, and the last thing on first taken at this time, I asked people on Twitter if they had questions. And you know, another thing that's happened throughout this is so many people like sign Rousseau full-time. Make room so the full-time hearse need, it wouldn't work 5 days a week, I think. Once a week is perfect for this because you guys are just too combustible. 5 days a week. Yeah, you wear everybody's appetite. You win everybody's appetite. Something look forward to. Yeah, and it's way too soon to jump into that kind of role on a day in and day out basis. That's a lot of work going down there and doing it. Down there, a lot of work. What's the status now with SiriusXM, your show three to 60s? Are you in the studio at all now? Your home every year. We're gonna start two days a week in the studio. I'm gonna go in next week for a couple of days. First time I've been in that studio since March 11th of 2020. We're gonna do wenzel with the NCAA tournament. Right. So next Thursday and Friday, the old Jacksonville coach CBS, who's a good guy, knows all the teams. He's going to come up and we're going to do three to 7, take an hour out of story. Three to 7 Thursday and Friday for the first two days of the tournament. And that is the first time that I've been in that studio for two years. You know, I don't want to, I don't want to get you in trouble, but everyone gives Howard Stern so much crap about not being in studio. The doggy hasn't been in the studio either. What's going on? I have not been in a studio either. Yeah, and Howard has not been anywhere near it. I think Howard eve is going to go in. Now, we're going to go in. Now I'm going to start two days a week, probably combine it with the first take day, you know? So the more you in the city. Right, you ready, then. That kind of thing. But I probably will start that. I would think Eddie Erickson would tell you, probably about April 1st, you know, if I go in, they got to go in too. You know, here's the secret. You think that I don't want to go in. I don't care going in. Ericsson and Colin snuffing the two guys who are working to show the last thing you want to do is commute from massive peak into the midtown Manhattan to do it. They love doing the show at home. They both got kids and everything else. Well, you know how much care..

Thanks for making time for me now. How was my 5th child? Everything okay? Yes. Yeah, I appreciate that. And you've been a huge supporter. Here's one question I keep getting from people on Twitter about first take. They want to know whose idea was it to get you on there? Was that all Stephen a, was it an ESPN executive had it all come down? Stephen a texted me on January 22nd, asked me if you wanted to do come on Wednesday to talk about the bird magic upper magic, the Hall of Fame stuff with bonds and Clemens. And I say, yeah, I mean, I'll come in here and we'll give you a segment, so I went down there on that January 24th when the Hall of Fame, I think, was either the day before, so it had been told that they weren't in the Hall of Fame. I did the segment. We did another segment because it was right after Green Bay lost in San Francisco. So there was some juice with that game with Rogers and Brady almost beaten the rams. And I left, I went to came home and he called me up the next morning and climbing up the next morning at 8 15, and he said, listen, you know, we did a hell of a job. I am interested in hearing anything, you know, down the road. And I said, you know, absolutely, you know, sure, why not? Blah, blah, blah, I got to work it out with the TV with the baseball. Everything else, the next day, the next day.

"Do you think there's anybody they're saying. Why not to shawn watson. Why not to shawn watson. You know rich one thing that i've learned and it only took me twenty years to figure this out. When i speak very candidly about issues with giving team fans get upset. Fans at the team get upset in large part because they don't like someone saying out loud the thing that they are privately concerned about but i view myself. It's kind of an advocate of whatever fan base. I'm happened happening to comment on their team at that time. And if i'm a texans fan. I'm wondering what the hell are we doing. We're paying this guy ten and a half million dollars. How does it get to this point that he's not playing for us. Why are you telling him you're under contract. You're playing for us right. I understand that they don't want to risk him. Getting injured and infringe impair their ability to get maximum picks. Either now or after the season i get all that and hey there's a chance the nfl will say hold on. No no we. We don't have to make a decision about whether or not to put him on paid. Leave as long as you're paying into not play but if you're gonna play him then we gotta do something. That's part of it too but i think it just comes down to. He wants out there willing to let them go. They don't want him to play. They don't wanna get injured and he's just off the table. And if i was a texans fan who was paying good money for tickets to those games or spending my time that i could otherwise spend doing other things watching those games and giving crap about that team i would be livid that it got to this point regardless of. Who's to blame now. The fact that it got to this point is a tragedy for the houston. Texans and it's made evident by the fact that they're going from tyrod taylor to davis mills or mills davis quarterback in the nfl tobacco level. Where you can change first name last name. I think we've done this before. But it's true mills. Dave starting thursday night. And it's possible that driscoll jeff gets in you know and that's the question like so. Do you think watson would would say no like if they went to him said. Look look we know what's going on here. He is such an odd situation awkward. Whatever adjective you wanna use unprecedented that somebody as generational talented as watson is also at the same time untradeable and potentially unplayable like this is. This is a rubik's cube that we've never seen before mike but you're like what about going to him insane. I know you don't play anymore. And we kinda don't wanna play but do you see what we did to the jaguars in week one. Do you see what we kind of our cooking here like get onboard right and the wave at dominos fall if they do something like that it gets ugly very quickly but they could if they want to be distracted by and we talk about distractions all the time summer. Real summer fake. This would be real if all of a sudden they decide. They're gonna go to sean. And say we want shaw practice and we want you to really try. We don't want you to half ass it. We want you to show up and earn the money that we're paying you and they're watching him. They're studying him. Is he working hard enough as he doing everything that needs to do. Is he really trying. You know it's easy. If he says no then you can find him suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. That's easy the hard part is identifying whether or not. he's just going through the motions. And that's the thing with a quarterback and this may be why they're doing what they're doing for all the other positions you draw hard line and say hey. Get your to work but for quarterback you need them to be so much more than just the guy that takes the snap and hands off the ball in throws the pass is he's the guy who's the leader team sets. The tone shows up early stays late. holds people. Accountable brings the locker room together. you know. And that's why. I'm a firm believer that quarterback need have more of a voice in the overall structure of the team. Then they get because they're expected to act like bosses on the on the shop floor and and If you have a quarterback who's committed to doing the bare minimum. I don't think that's good for anybody and that may be why combined with. We don't wanna get injured and we don't want to have the nfl say he's on paid leave and whatever other concerned they have. I think that's why they aren't going to them and saying time for you to earn your money. But if i'm a texans fan good getting my money. If you're willing to ten and a half million of it away to one of the best quarterbacks in football that you allowed this to get to the point where he doesn't wanna play for you and you don't want him to play for you regardless of how we got here. This had its origins in the dysfunction. That was pervasive in the texans organization. Credit to them to get veteran players who are kind of wiping that stink away but it was at stink from last year. That has them in the mass. They're in now. Mike florio here on the rich eisen. Show couple more quarterback scenarios. I wanna talk with you about. I one aaron rodgers. 'cause you just mentioned Quarterbacks should get more say and and clearly that is what was at play with aaron rodgers from draft day and before and after until appearance day at training camp. I had him on the show. Yesterday and i asked him specifically what what changed. Did you get that's made you say okay. I'll i'll come back. And he basically said it was just trust and hope that it's nothing you could stamp on a piece of paper he get best on your knowledge. an agreement from the packers. That will trade you if if things don't go the way for either one of us this year..

And then the The icing on the cake on that was In the summit boston walking in three runs. That's very unusual in my experience. So i just one other thing i wanted to say fritzy's wearing stay in your lane shirt and dan. I love with all due. Respect the ramones to list a senior lane in seti all right thank you thank you thank you. I don't remember you being anti ramones I don't remember that. Is that what you're saying. I i i'm guessing you're saying that you weren't a ramones guy. I'm not a ramones fan. But then you'd ending them. No i i mean i probably did by saying. I'm not a ramones fan. But you know blitzkrieg bop is just not my and i know that they had. They were influential with other band is talked about the romans. I know they were influential. I i don't trump up the clash the way i'm supposed to. They were very influential. But to say and i didn't know the ramones didn't do anything for me. They're always one of those bands. God what's that saying about. You know one hundred people saw them but they all started a band kind of thing. You know slave. I just not ramones fan. I don't feel like you need to stay in your lane on that big okay. I mean i was told to stay in my lane on green day. And i went to the rock and roll hall of fame and i went to the green day exhibit just so i could familiarize myself. That's the kind of reporting that i do. That's the journalists than i am. Let's bring in mike florio pro football talk live co host see. You don't want to deal with any of this stuff. Mike do though. I like listening to it. I like it. I like green day. I can only imagine the things that are available to maybe sample at the green day exhibit at the rock and roll hall of fame in ohio. I don't know it was a nice exhibit. I took pictures just to let people know that. I did go to try to learn a little bit more about green day. That's all that that's what we do in this business..
At least 1 of Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson’s accusers attempted to blackmail him
"Gonna move on briefly to addition watson because you know what we promised. We'll give you the shawn watson update every day and we will do that because it changes every day. What number we now here. A colonic sixteen. Yeah it is. What's fourteen lawsuits. Isn't it to. Because the time this thing drops people listen numbers rate in this situation. I think at this point where We're past the point of needing to get the data on the information now at true affords like we're at. Are you a predator or not zone. Like that's i don't know. I haven't read a the guy in the houston. Chronicle his name wilson yet. Yup does he still think sixteen are lining up to make a deal. How silly was that premise. That people still want to trade from no one would trade anything form. They wouldn't take him for nothing. The miami dolphins new york jets new england patriots niners broncos. None of them would take to shawn watson for nothing. They didn't win. Give you a thing for the shawn watson because this guy has a problem. He's not who we thought he was. I'm ready to jump to conclusions and say he was inappropriate with many many women and he had a fetish couldn't just be one or two. He wanted to do this to a number women because he probably enjoyed the challenge. Enjoyed the danger of it. All and today mike florio from pro football taco used to be a lawyer. He's got a piece saying what he would do if he you know because a lot of people ask them. What would you do if he hired you. He didn't hire florio. Had tony busby. Who's either a A lawyer or a the most incredible conman the most credible Shakedown artist of all time. Because he's the one who's updating every day with the number of masseuses who are charging accusing deshaun watson of inappropriate behavior. But but but two things two things here. He gives all this advice florio and it's reasonable. He said he'd sit down and try to get all the women or their representative in a room to make one big settlement trying to make it all. Go away with one big paycheck that they could and they clearly are looking for that because they're not having gone to the cops which brings me to point number two and end to the point where they try to basically extort him out of thirty one of them tried to extort him out of thirty grand in january. I believe i'm not sure that's extortion. If you're saying will agree not to charge you and these are hard working people at working class girls. Maybe who and by way are people like julia to cairo in on people like Niece smelly they waiting to see what race these women are. Because they haven't had much to say about this yet. But i assume they are. They going to wait and see what race they are and then they decide how they feel about it. Which is madness.
Cam Newton responds to Jeff Garcia's criticism about attire: 'He's exactly right. But I'm not changing'
"Niners roughed up the Patriots on Sunday, and Cam Newton did not look good again and you know, he said, Look, it's on me. Now you look good post game. He always looks good post game, Not to everybody. Jeff Garcia is a former NFL quarterback, and he covers the 40 Niners. Now I think NBC Sports ve area And he went off on Cam Newton's postgame outfit. You go into this game, two touchdowns for receptions. You throw what? Three more interceptions. You get shanked in the second half. There's nothing good going your way. Why you dressing like that? To bring Mohr attention to yourself. I'd be trying to ask the equipment managers put me in your jock sock. Card and sneak me in the back door and also upon the field and do the best that I know this sounds like you're speaking from too much experience here. Okay, like this just goes back to a couple years of just watching this guy and seeing him at the podium. But yet what he's doing on the field does not translate. To being that guy, and I don't want it like I mean, Joe. Name it. Yeah. The fork. Oh, yeah. When you when you predict you're gonna win a Super bowl and you go out and do it Wear. Whatever the hell you are, But, you know, right now I'm not buying it. Did anybody complain about what he was wearing when they were winning and he was the MVP and they went to the Super Bowl.
Where do the Cowboys go from here? To the trade deadline — but as sellers instead of buyers
"The Cowboys easier to write about when they win or when they lose? Uh, they're easy to write about what they lose. When they win. People feel good. You sell more newspapers when they win. That's a proven thing. So there's that. But, man what you know now, sometimes when they're bad, they're just not interested. And they just kind of go away. Like I don't know what it's like to right about when the Detroit Lions are bad. They probably just people are waiting for the Red Wings to drop the puck. But when the Cowboys are bad, there's usually nine different things in Iraq, And this year there, there might be that might be multiplied. So there's you can just pick out of a hat. And and and go from there. What is Jerry? June Jones do now? You know, one of the really disappointments with serious disappointments, obviously of code. But one of the rial lighter disappointments of this year is that he doesn't do press conferences after every game, because I can't imagine. What level he would have reached yesterday. Um, you know, it's Tze one thing to get beat up by Seattle or airy Arizona's offense. They can't stop the run. With anybody, not the Washington football team. They run for over 200 yards. And if you want to pick one area of the Cowboys that does not beat up my injuries. Their front seven They've got Jalen Smith. They got banned arrest. They've got the Marcus Lords they've got. They've got elegance. They got Everson Griffen. They got Tyrone Crawford. They got guys were supposed to be there, and they can't tackle anybody. And then you have the hit on Andy Dalton and that nobody seems to concern about the chief shot by Jon Bostic. That wasn't it took the announcers of minutes to kind of recognize, but they did eventually, So okay, that's that's a brutal Yep. Be Amari Cooper is standing there and there's others around there had to be a number of players see it. I would think the entire offensive line and to see it. On nothing. Nothing at all. I mean, I can't imagine. If that was Dad getting hit like that that they wouldn't have done something but that that just pointed to the the give up factor of this team they looked like in the first quarter. They're out there to see when it's going to go badly, and you know how much it's going to feel like a ground hog day. They got nothing on either side of the ball, but quitting is worse than losing to him. Yeah. And of course, coaches will always and players will fight. You didn't quit. Everybody has a great attitude by when you see something like that, and when you see it That And when you see a team that just gets gassed in the run and announcers every week, whether it's the money, night crew or yesterday was was Moose. Ah lot of destroyed job back and they get very quickly. The out of position on these place. They really get outflanked quickly without defense. I mean, they're they're talking around the fact that team looks very poorly prepared and has no idea what to do in the players. Never respond if Jerry had to do over coaching. Well, I mean, that's what What was it about Mike McCarthy flying in and spending one night at the Jones house and all they were just so wowed by this guy. They couldn't believe it. Now, what have you seen in any game that he brings? You didn't call the plays so anytime the offense was playing well earlier in the year, That's Kellen Moore is offense. So what is he doing over there that he brings Emily brought in all these coaches? Guys he had in Green Bay 10 years ago. Mike Nolan, who hired him 20 years ago. It's just this. This cronyism tied coaching staff. And you wonder, and you wonder how much Jerry thought about like a mat rule. He mentioned Matt Rule one time last December, just after Baylor played in the Big 12 championship game. What a great young coach to thought. Matt Rhule wass. And you're Matt Rhule took over a team that was just God awful and got ready Cam Newton, and they released whatever they are three and four. They compete. Uh, yeah. I mean, I don't know. I don't know that he wouldn't like to rethink this lot. Now it's the first year so I think both the pandemic the DAC injury, the offensive line being completely wiped out. Those going allow the coaches to skate for year. But he has to be thinking this. This may have been a Terrible higher. The Cowboys buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. You know, I don't think they have a lot to sell. I heard somebody saying trade one of their wide receivers. They don't need that many hundreds of it. That's the one thing they have is good wide receivers. You want to trade one of those go You know, Draft Ah, linebacker with a neck injury. That's what that's what excites you about rebuilding the team. I don't think they will do much. There's certainly not Myers, they get by. I mean, I don't know why in the world you would add. Do it to a terrible collection of talent as this many injuries, but I don't expect him to do a lot, actually.
Source -- Tennessee Titans players test positive for coronavirus
"Hello everyone, and welcome to fill Lotto's fantasy corner where onto week five ladies and gentlemen. But we've hit yet another snag with Covid Nineteen. We expected there to be disruptions throughout the season but now multiple teams are starting to test positive and it seems to be mitigating the possibility of certain games this week the Tennessee Titans are at the forefront of this snag that the NFL's run into. Corey Davis was just placed on the Reserve Kobe Nineteen List and the titans who were a day away from returning to their facilities. We'll have to have two straight days of negative testing from players and personnel until they can resume activities at their facilities Tennessee. Now has twelve players on the COVID nineteen list since the team may not be able to practice the game against buffalo remains in. Doubt the League according to NFL DOT COM Tom Pal. Cerro has launched an investigation actually into the titans and they have seen a corona virus outbreak spread among their roster and are believed to have conducted an illegal offsite workout which believe can be found on twitter. There's a video or something along those lines kind of floating around and some around the League believe the League is about to. Really, come down hard on the Tennessee. Titans. We're talking about a historic type of punishment against the Tennessee Titans Mike Florio talked about it on pro football talk in addition to levying a six figure fines against the for the coaches not complying with masks protocols. The NFL has also threatened to strip some teams of draft picks and that would set this baseline and they actually might use the titans. As, a team to be the example for this because they really need to come down hard and they really need to not allow these teams to kind of do as they feel. And hold these workouts when they're all supposed to be in quarantine cause a virus is spreading throughout their team.

Ryan Fitzpatrick Scores on Strong Quarterback Draw
"More done. If it's magic, he's Mr September. Ryan Fitzpatrick last night leading the Dolphins over the Jags, and it was pretty impressive there. That was one of those performances that you go to a couldn't do that. Ryan Fitzpatrick had a spectacular game. Caught a pass runs for a touchdown throws. A couple of touchdown passes completes 90% of his passes. He is Mr September. Yes, MMA club. You can't say you caught a pass. He threw it in the defense of lime and bad id her right back to him. Didn't count. It's a catch, like Nick Foles in the Super Bowl writing. No, it's not. But he did catch a
San Francisco 49ers complain about 'sticky' turf at MetLife Stadium after injuries pile up vs. New York Jets
"Explained to me about the playing surface at metlife stadium with the jets giants, and what is the biggest concern what happened during the forty niners jets game on Sunday a lot of lower leg injuries. Some season ending injuries including one suffered by nick boasts of the forty niners defensive and I think that really changes that team dramatically to not have him. The complaints began to come from individual 49ers players saying that there's something wrong with turf that their foot gets stuck in the turf and I started to poke around the giants and the steelers played their six days earlier they had no issues with the turf. From the jets, the response was we were too busy getting our faces kicked into notice anything wrong with the turf but the forty niners had the issue they had the complaint. The League's position is these fields certified they're certified by an independent inspector they're certified by the teams well to me. That's good enough to, and because we've seen plenty of crappy fields. That have been certified certified as being suitable for play. Remember the Fedex fields shows the day they had to paint the Dirt Green for a playoff game, the game where Robert Griffin two thirds a finally went. So I I don't accept that as being positive in the NFL PA has echoed the forty niners concerns that maybe we should take a look at this. What's the harm in reconfirming that everything is fine with this playing? Surface it feels like something more than just sour grapes by the forty niners. There are enough guys complaining about it to to at least raise the question of why not take a closer look and make sure there's nothing wrong with this new playing surface. But what can you do? Can the niners refused to play the giants this weekend? That's what makes it so fascinating usually, what happens is the road team if they have a Problem with the field or not coming back for the rest of the year, they may not be coming back for eight years. If it's an interconference game here, they are seven days later back on the same field and the giants have come out strong JOE judge. Head coach said, we practice throughout training camp. We have no issues at all with this and I don't think the NFL going to get any relief I. Mean we've. Seen in the past where we're field has gotten so bad a teams had to tear it and replace it at New England at one point they had to get rid of the grass and put down field turf but I don't think that's going to happen. I. Think the forty niners will just going to have to deal with it and I don't think the NFL is going to concede that there was an issue with the turf. And they're going to go forward and we'll see what the forty niners players have to say after playing there again, this weekend,
Big Ten football is back: What you need to know
"Email or statement from the big 10? Is there anything in here about the number of schools were going to play football this fall? Yep. Big 10 conference is announcing This is on the big town website Adopt stringent medical protocols. Football Season to resume October 23rd 24th, Which means Friday, Saturday, Okay? Is everybody playing, eh? 14 big tennis. All teams are playing as of the big 10 announcement. They don't have anyone. It doesn't say that line specifically, but just says 14 teams will adopt these. Protocol, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It doesn't say anything about anybody not playing. That's the news here. That's what I want to find out. I mean, this is why it's taken so long. This is why they've had to push the season back a couple of times because trying to get there must be some presidents going kicking and screaming. I just heard from my source. He says that I've reached out and my sources are in meetings now. My guess is that the later start will guarantee everybody will least try. The big 10 has been so divided that the optics of not having all in would be bad. So I think that's that's what's happening or has happened since the last 48 hours. I'm guessing 72 hours and I'll keep in idleness and try to give you as much information as I can aside, receive it, but Trying to find out exactly if everybody's playing and that that changes a lot here. Yes, phone in the big 10 release one thing that's interesting. They are establishing policies whether teams continue to practice or play based on infections on the team. It has to match the rate of the public if it's if it's Maur than the rate of the public. They conserve that, like a breakout. If it's less than the rate of public that means they're doing fine, so it's not If one player test positive on the team for according to Big 10 release. That doesn't necessarily mean everything gets shut down
Gender reveal party sparks large Californian wildfire after pyrotechnic device ignites dry grass
"The original pandemic Gender reveals. Maybe just maybe we got the vaccine this weekend. Maybe they will never bother us again because one of these unnecessary reveals is now the cause. Of one of the huge wildfires lodging in California A couple dragged its family to El Dorado Ranch Park on Saturday and brought with them a quote. Smoke generating PIRA device surveillance video shows the device being lit and then people scrambling to find water to put out the flames. The fire is now over 8000 Acres big, only 7% controlled. The video has not been released yet because there's an ongoing investigation now. Everybody involved apparently has been cooperating with officials. But the guy or the woman, the person who actually ignited his device could could be charged with a crime here and held liable for the fires. But the moral of the story is just stop doing this. Stop hitting golf balls. Stop letting off balloon that choke birds. Just stop it. Just tell me what kid you're having. And let's move on. I got to tell you. I have so many thoughts on this number one California has been like the inside of a pizza oven for like, three weeks now why you would drag anybody to a park to do outdoors These days? Your gender reveal in California is anybody's guess. Like 118 degrees. Yeah, everybody. Let's go outside. To go to the steam bath toe burn to a crisp that you know that we're having a girl. I mean, could you imagine how how completely thoughtless this is for your family lift, drag you to a park outdoors when it's 180. Number two on the outside to make a baby. I don't want to be able to find out what your baby is Number two. The gender reveal stuff. It's so overboard. But now we need pyrotechnics. Now there's a some oak freaking machine, a smoke machine. You need a smoke machine. For this. It's already over the top, dragging everybody to a park to learn. Who cares. You're having a baby. Whether it's a boy or a girl. The baby will be loved. The baby will be adored. That's what people do with babies. Thankfully, it doesn't matter what gender you have, and I've got to go back to my own wife. Because
Yankees' Judge homers in fifth straight game
"Hitting very well. Barnes to judge Curveball. Fly ball deep left field way back there. Erin Judge. Adios, amigo. Always he hot, his second home run of the night. Air and judges guilt. Ricky Ricardo, Still filling in for John Sterling on Yankees radio show was one of the weather. I believe, though he's scheduled back tonight against the Phillies as Raj two homers last night. That one, breaking a tie in the eighth got the Yanks and 97 home win over the Red Sox Judge has homered in five straight. His team has won six in a row. Anyone know, dear We know that you have a good week, I would ask judge this for an entire season. Since that has become the reason I I love it. Nobody hates the Yankees more than Bogue's, and every home run Every clout by judge is just another like pouring salt in the wound, especially happening on the day. The Mets became again the Dumpster fire with you and assess face. You must just love that double dip. Well, And don't forget the book and weekend for the Mets Friday night, I

NFL offers players to scrap all preseason games
"The NFL. No more preseason games. Well, that didn't take long. Yesterday morning. At this time, I told you about a source who said, Hey, we're going to be Cutting in half. We're gonna have one preseason game in the NFL. And then all of a sudden, the proposal is zero preseason games. The NFL the players the coaches need. At least one preseason game might not be possible. But If you think about new coaches, you got high draft picks. You got quarterbacks trying to get acclimated with game situations. And even a new coach, Kevin Stefanski, in Cleveland, just to have that communication from upstairs down to the field in realty time. And Joe Burrow in Cincinnati job Burrows First pass could be his first pass in the NFL. And then you have players who might not be able to make the roster without preseason because they don't get a chance to really showcase their talents. You're gonna have inter squad scrimmages. But I don't know how much football we're really going to see. And by that, I mean, are you gonna have inter squad games? Could I have the Texans and Cowboys play one another? Could you have maybe proximity scrimmages? Could Tampa play against the Dolphins or Jacksonville place? I don't know what's possible. And I think the NFL is trying Tio figure out. How can we get some football here? How do we

"Four live with Mike Florio I don't think it matters necessarily the nose or officer doesn't you know the difference between now and right and terrible stability play yeah yeah I guess as a training camp they they have short memories of that sure it's not in our to get back into the swing you talk about the Ford who was with the chief he was a first round pick of the chiefs he became a free agent they franchise tag and traded in the forty Niners he's got a little bit of inside information that right we were talking about this earlier in the week the idea that he knows from being a practice a little bit about how Patrick homes move churches in making although I think it's still inherently unpredictable yeah I don't think the guy who does the same thing twice so I don't know how much tendency or tell there is in being on the same field is paramount but there is at least a little value in being around the guy in knowing how he plays how he prepares how he performs yeah yes there is to the point you know body language right just anything like that you know there are there are go to move Sir quarterbacks for what they do all right well man the pockets collapsing I'm gonna give the old Okey Doke and got like a lien like this way then go that way right are tells that way this could help him but like as far as the offense is concerned in defense and don't know that crap they don't know anything like they're not like all well any read when they make this check to the line of scrimmage coach they're going to do this and that no it be different of those a safety or middle linebacker all right of something like that that would be a guy that would be more in tune do schematics what the quarterbacks doing at the line of scrimmage calls the signals things he's heard a defense and he's gonna know his right tackle that's blocking them and know all the nuances of them and then maybe have a little advantage in the homes in his movements I have a dumb question yeah and this might be the fact that I spend too much time with Mike Florio because it's very much a Mike Florio like dumb taste and I love it I love it how you have quickly if it is all excited to a slam against me very well it's I like it is not a dumb take like I'm not trending on Twitter dumb take but just one of those Mike Flores is a class of my Florida yeah do you think the D. Ford knowing that his last game with the Kansas City Chiefs cared as he famously was offsides he's now in the Superbowl the spotlights on springs old team it's gonna be brought up do you think that that slows him down even a fraction of a second on symbols day that's a great Mike Florio take you know that show me yeah right in so many the fact is that is such a part of how he's viewed and who he is right and what happened last year on a huge platform it's an even bigger platform now I don't know maybe it does the life you live your life now in here it on Friday because the you know just popped in my head and I was like that is something Mike Florio would think and say so I just beat you to it well it is wrong it's a human emotion well it's real I had you all I'll say this I bet you he's very careful about crowding the line is valid she'll be very aware of that all game long because of what happened last writer where he's not gonna try to take up every inch do feel looking at the event that's our next level we talk about what the Ford may know about Patrick homes there's a chance patch from homes knows what yeah the four to flinch yaar and they'll be like cadence or the movement is no doubt a subtlety here they're getting the job I like it while we're on this we did find something because it needed in the no joke I thought he was going that well that let me just say that I thought you're gonna say something like he jumped off site on purpose so you know we all go and come back Mike Florio not a part of my take on it but but yeah it's cool we've gone down this road I think that's gonna be a big part the football game now is small homes not count and we saw the homes and both playoff games he's really become a master of it yes we're archers at it is you know the way he can either call quick or his hard count is real and this is a game you know as we talk about a lot like Hey Robert solace telling those run for like we can't win this game lets you get them homes right so he knows they're going to be like ready to go and I you got to play the stock out game early on just to back them off and take some of that aggression explosiveness away it really is a bizarre sort of us do that gets concocted when the three of us are together I mean I don't you know it really some may say on the shelf I'll say that but but but but between the the way we think the personalities and the approaches I think we tripped over something that's actually pretty good yeah they did a yes it is he's very he's like you're like his young son yeah I just well no that's my my call I'm is a nephew but it is these are the human emotions of the game or not like I said the last segment I'm not watching tape I'm not you know checking axes you're the man with a margin you watch a coast right is something that I I study and you figure it out and they're absolutely is something there to patch moans knowing D. Ford and vice versa and how.

"Mike Florio and more pro football talk live. I mean, come on. Let's Shawn McCoy. I mean, what the hell? Giving away the ending of the avengers number one movie in the history of the world one point two billion dollars. What three nights right, Mike, something like that whatever it was killing box office hits. I know I even though I'm thirty eight and shouldn't care so much. I'm very excited to watch this movie, and he goes on social media and blows the ending for a lot of people. But not only that because you can avoid that. But what he did was make it cool for little kids do it. And that's what's happened to I met two people here on the NBC building yesterday who said they were in the movie on Saturday and kids ran in and yelled, the ending and what happened and then ran out to different people. I know my little boy on XBox. He's got his headphones on like he's coaching netball team. And he's talking to his friends and kids have done the same thing there to tell him the ending. So just not a cool move by Leshan McCoy party foul. You can't do that you are role model, and you will influence. Kids push them over the edge do crap like that on that Leshan McCoy very very disappointed. Why, you know over the years Shawn McCoy developed a reputation in some circles for being a bit of a jerk and less there be any confusion about it. He is confirmed it for anyone who may be paying attention. And I also understand and I didn't see these. I don't care about this. And I mean, it's not a spoiler for me. If I'm not gonna see it anyway, but he deliberately misspelled some of the names involved because there's a. Screen heard this. Yeah, you can screen out certain things that would show up in your Twitter feed. But if you miss spell it, then it's going to show us showed up people still saw and people were it was such a big deal. It made it onto the NBC nightly news, Shawn McCoy spoiling veteran. What is the world coming to say? And it's kind of refreshing to me, Chris because the importance culturally of going to the theater of having that shared experience of watching a movie in a packed building. As opposed to being at your home or walking around on your phone watching a movie with your headphones in Bolivia to the world. It's kind of neat to have this throwback. I remember back in the seventies. When like jaws and the exorcist for big pictures of people lined up all the way around the block, like those people inside of the theatre where what are they doing what kind of clowns in a Volkswagen trick or they pulling off in reverse by jamming all these people into this place. But it's kind of neat. To see that play out because you know, for most movies people, just wait until it comes out on not even DVD anymore. They wait till it's vailable streaming. And they watch it at home. So I kinda like that part. I'm flip your grievance around and say, I like the fact that all these people are going out to watch a movie, it is a crap about you need to give a crap you need to go and see the theory to get the full effect, Mike, especially if you watch it and three D, I'm telling you it's worth the price of admission just there. I mean, it really is not saying this is going to win the Oskar anything like that. But as far as action and some witty humor that can go over even the heads of the kids like some adult humor. I found them very joying. I'm telling you, I think you need to do it. I think some of the he goes over your head to well. Probably exactly right. But that's what makes. Let me tell you this before I get onto my grievance. Yeah. I have I haven't aversion to superhero movies because of the original Batman movie, not the one in the sixties without him west. But the one that do with Michael Keaton. Yeah. And Jack Nicholson. Yeah. Nine hundred eighty nine I was I was so excited to see that. And because I was Batman over superman growing up without question. I was so excited when I saw the Batman movie can't wait to see it can't wait to see it. I went to see it. And it's like the whole time thinking, I know I'm supposed to really like this because I've been excited to see this for so long. But I don't really like it and its some point during that hour and a half long. Was you just admit to yourself? Okay. This stinks. I've wasted the last six months of my life being if it so thirty years later, I still have this. I'm not getting I'm not getting into these superhero movies because of the scar. I have because the original Batman movie stunk. I guess that counts as agreements, I it sounds down. Put me down on this sheet airing of grievances original Batman movie with Michael Keaton stunk. Sorry, Michael can but I think he. He knows it stunk to but he's probably still living off the money. He made from it. All right. Avengers. Did a nice job without having to excessively hype itself. It just became an organic authentic thing. I still feel like with the draft which is something that is hyped without a whole lot of effort. I don't like how far the NFL goes when it comes to this effort to hype the draft, whether it's estimating six hundred thousand people over three days, which there's no way to get a good number. But boy six hundred thousand sounds good. I'm going to go with I I'm always skeptical about the the numbers that are put out there, by way of total TV viewership. Because there's been some fuzzy math in the past when it comes to total audiences for things the NFL is done different things. Things are trying to make into something bigger than it may be. But on top all that there. There's a limit to what these drafts can do. It's going to be hard to outdo Nashville, and maybe Las Vegas will. But if Las Vegas out does Nashville who's up next like it's putting so much pressure on these cities that want to host the draft creating this land rush to host the draft. But like Detroit wants to draft or they're going to be able to do in Detroit with they did in Nashville Indianapolis wants to draft. Are they gonna be able to do that? How do you recreate these experiences in these images that that are so memorable? I mean, Dallas last year did not create those kinds of images. And so it's they're trying to make this thing. And it's still amazing to me. They can do it all by group. Text. It's amazing that all these people are. Are interested. And I'm glad they're interested. We benefit from it. But they're building it into something that I just don't think is sustainable, and I don't think they realize that or I don't think they care. They're too busy basking in the afterglow of Nashville, but it really is going to put a lot of pressure on the NFL going forward to try to match or beat that. And there's a certain point where you just can't beat it. There will be a ceiling that cannot be exceeded. Yeah. That's fair. You're right. I mean, national I, you know to echo your point. I'm with you. I don't know of anybody can top that you know, again. It's a special set of circumstances. That may Nashville cool first of all at anybody has been to downtown Nashville. It's just a perfect little setting. They're right on Broadway. I lived there for a number years right down the street, basically from where they had the drive then. Yeah, it's just, you know, perfect setting bars and restaurants, just the right space on the streets. And then, yeah, let's put the stage at the end of the street and the all close in here. We got a big alleyway of bars restaurants, great viewing of the of the stage. As far as the NFL draft. I just think the setting was special, and yes, of course, it has a fan base that was thirsty for something like that to go along with. But also the other thing that you got to take into account is, you know, as compared to like, Detroit like you said can we count on Detroit to have good weather like Nashville did this time of the year? I know it was raining, and we had points drizzle and things like that. But the temperatures are very forgiving for people who want to stand outside for two and three hours at a time and national as compared to Detroit this time of the year where you know, you might get towards nighttime. It's still in the thirties. Maybe even in the high twenty s on the right night. So I'm with you, Mike it's gonna be hard to really replicate nationals, it's pretty special draft. It'll look amazing on TV. I couldn't stop saying every time I turned it on. And let me tell you the one of these years, the alternate reality shows autumn, it reality show is going to get a dose.

"Mike Florio from pro football talk will join us from the NFL owners. Meaning as we have more replay. We'll talk to Tim tebow Mets minor leaguer and a major leaguer when it comes to be an TV host. Because he has a show tonight million dollar mile, the executive producers, LeBron James, and no I'm saying nice things about to Tim tebow is the host of that show. And he'll join us coming up next hour the NBC rules official. Former NFL official Terry McCauley who's always great when it comes on the program. He'll join us as we look at some of these replay issues that could arise. So that'd be coming up a little bit later on Nick LeVan. We'll have a poll question. We of course, have a stat of the day or two and play the day coming up as well. The NFL voted to expand instant replay to pass interference calls on Tuesday. So coaches can challenge pass plays even when there's no flag, and this is a tip of the cap and acknowledgement to the New Orleans Saints in the play that cost them or perhaps cost them the trip to the Super Bowl in you know, that is a big reaction. I said, you know, I don't know if we need to overreact. But sometimes it takes one moment for you know, leagues too. Act or overreact. So that's what you had. This is an over correction in my opinion. I don't know if it's a good day. I want to see how this plays out for the first year because I I'm probably a skeptic when it comes to this because I want to know who is going to call for this call that wasn't called a penalty. So is the wrath who missed the call going to make the call on the last two minutes here who's the one who says, hey, let's review that is is the coach able to do this because he doesn't have a challenge flag for this. What do you do you to say? Hey, I'm I'm waving my arms come over here. I want to review that I don't know how that works. But in the final two minutes, but you know, the league tweaks role, and usually there's unintended consequences. So they think you're going to have that as well. And I know that we love to say these officials are worse than ever the NFL's about to celebrate one hundred years of football. So that means a fischel they've been blowing calls for a century. Now. I don't think they're worse. I just think that social media and there's more opportunity. With four K five K coming up. We're going to be able to see everything we get to see everything we can see it in real time and then replay. And, you know, so we know right in the moment if something's good or bad, but the rule change they'll be plenty of conversations. We're going to have this upcoming fall on Mondays when we come in to do this show, by the way, the traeger meet Friday songs you can vote clo. A boat will close on Thursday after the show, and then we will move to the final four right now. We're at the elite eight and then we'll go to the final fork. And then of course in Minneapolis when we're there for the final four, we will crown are Hebrew national championship. Yes. Oh, it's getting a little tense because just like the NCAA tournament. There's no real Cinderella's anymore. It's really top programming. It's really top songs. You know, any close voting Seton?.

I don't know they're going to try to craft side of this is going to try to block that video of what I was told last night that it is graphic and that it is Robert Kraft on they're two different occasions. I'm just curious how you set up a sting to put cameras in there. I'm not sure if you know the workers are going to try to help you out. I don't think they spoke English. You know, the people who run the massage parlor, they gonna help you just because you're going to try to, you know, do a plea deal here. I was I was surprised that you know, when you set up a stating that they had cameras in there to be able to record this. We'll talk to Florio coming up in a moment. Also, Colin Kaepernick, you know, did ask for twenty million dollars from the af. And I think from the XFL as well, but we'll talk to Florio about that also everything going on at the combine with my eight seven seven three DP show, Email address DP at Dan Patrick dot com. Let's see what else. Do we have here? I mentioned LeBron pointing fingers will play some of those comments if they lost again. We just watched mountain is that his name from game of thrones Hathor Bjornson. Okay. Icelandair? He's known as the mountain from game of thrones. What is he six nine? Yeah. Mountain. Okay. And he was dead lifting almost eleven hundred pounds. Is that is that about right one thousand forty one pounds? I think ought to elephant bar. Oh, it is. And the only thing I could do that weightlifters great weightlifters can do is just make the sound when you lift something successfully because I think that also helps for some reason and have you ever been in the gym when you have somebody who has to make noise when they lift. I don't want to mention names, but I was in a gym the other day, and there was a person in there and every single wait. That was lifted there was. I go like after a while you just I started doing it then to mock them, so I'd be lifting my forty five pounds. They never caught on that. I was mocking them. Yes. Bowling was this person's weight scream worthy. Because if he's putting up like four ten on the bench, you could you could on. No, there wasn't a lot of weight there. And I think might have been Hyundai Hyundai on the bench, and you would have thought they were lifting eleven hundred pounds. Going again. This guy can throw some weight around. Maybe not literally figuratively. He's Mike Florio from pro football talk. Pro football talk live as their co host, Mike. Hey that was you in the gym. Yeah. Sorry. Sorry to call you out there. And I guess he was asked about are. We going to have any rule changes. We're going to change pass interference replay. Are we going to change overtime here is rich McKay? The falcon CEO if a coach to challenge a play whatever the play is and say, I I'm challenging because I think the defense lined up offsides. Okay. What else are we going to look at in that ply? Are we going to look at offense of holding has the play played out? Are we gonna look at hands to the face? Are we gonna look at a face mask on the quarterback weird? You stop in that process. And I think all those things need to be talked about because it doesn't mean it's not possible. But it does mean that you need to figure out exactly how you would implement and not impact the game negativity. That's rich McKay. The CEO of the falcons fan part of the competition committee. I don't want an overhaul to any of this certainly not overtime. And it goes back to what I said about overtime. It's because the patriots benefited and Patrick Mahomes didn't get his hands on the ball. Somehow. We think now we got to overhaul overtime, but nobody complain about overtime in New Orleans because the Rams did their job they stopped. Drew Brees in the saints.
