Where people haven't heard of you yet and they'll be able to do that now. I know another part of what you're involved in has to do with children. So but what made you decide to focus specifically on raising awareness of child abuse? Okay yes to read. I come to the conclusion that we should be usually likes to child. Abuse within emphases on parental abuse series very large lack of awareness of the subject. Folks love a fighting for signs of child abuse. People must understand this for the sake of the discussion. A child was experienced Abusing me with her from similar and society as a result of a lack of honest on this issue he will end do a great deal of suffering out lice. I personally personally will never be able to understand or accept a child who has been abused not pay such a heavy price for it. Easy human being like your sauce families. Sexual of unions and increased interest is a must Off His child and to us as a society is to raise. A child has been traumatized by the abuse. Or instance may not faith freaks in his dog life we as society must develop an help them get out of debt seeks sample. It's a phone them. People must understand that this phenomenon ghosts five on what they think are aware of so it is important to address the issue and not ignore it and I think definitely gala at issue as well as physical and emotional abuse to ask. I you know some of that as a child growing up and I think that's where a lot of times. Then that's what happens when people feel that they can't love themselves as the people that they trusted the most too young and so it's hard from people. I feel much more comfortable talk about physical abuse and violence. Yeah that's best in defender on this keeping a secret. You know what I mean. Yeah yeah it does. When he's dog vigilant join site. "Performance. PODCAST brought to you by simply faster. I felt like I asked me be somewhat. I do want to overcomplicate the question. But I definitely I like. I like what you said about the perceptual as well. I just think that we that's something. We take for. Granted is the sensory and perceptual elements of all all these things. I guess my thought is I was because I don't I see these videos. You guys are posting. I think they're they're awesome like yes. I want to try this stuff. 'cause I've I'll all I'm speaking from his I know. Oh this stuff works from a Just purely let's to say purely jumping sprint training or jump train particularly because there's a lot of complex movements there as anything but I'm like yes I know Oh more degrees of freedom then closing down to less degrees of freedom Two more degrees of freedom being basketball closing in the less degrees of freedom being more traditional strength thank the plan metric. Trang has always been a good thing for me. And if it's only lower degrees for too long it just doesn't it just can't be. Its best as I've seen it in many scenarios areas show. I'm just assuming that you could say more likely than not there. Is that potential for the strength world as well if you have more than you wanted to just like. You're saying in the warm up but maybe maybe just a more macro level potentially but at the end of the day. It's all about the sports skill anyways. My my thought was just isn't a more efficient way to get there in the weight room. It's probably more fun for the athlete to in that process. Like just the emotional state being. Hey let's have some fun. Let's open up some degrees. The let's get after it a few sets in the let's go to the next thing more so So I guess I was just trying to say I believe there's probably more like the not a carryover The the jump world sprint world. The lift world It's it's probably just good to be reciprocal but cross all areas while at these are things you guys are doing in your speed agility. Sometimes I don't even like to sales where speed agility those Stewart's together kind of death Sekou type vibe but if you're doing things across all band was it makes sense that you'd WanNa be reciprocal with the Barbell as well. You know you're you're spot a- An you know with us we can view it cross the entire scale of human performance and so you know our our first courses called underpinnings which is just that the underpinning theoretical theoretical components of it. What comprise in what's called an ecological dynamics framework or if you know how athletes and sport teams are looked as complex adaptive systems? And if that's what we're speaking to his adoptive systems and how they interact task in the environment. We want extend that to the weight room. As well and so strength does matter plow metric. Work does matter. I will tell you though personally. You know I certainly use pro plow much at work but not as much in the sense that I used to use it when I was at the University of Minnesota when I worked with Gal when I worked with the football staff. They're not saying that wasn't beneficial per se. But I feel like there was much more we could have done. And there's there's so much that can work. That can happen where I'm dampening those impact forces and I believe you actually about emily split on your podcast before and you have it to where you know the small nerves. The bottom of flipped are able to perceive information. Information can come in a variety of different matters different types of services vibrate differently and so that's all information to the system and so with that you have a situation where on dampening impact forces. There's Times where I want that to be where it's lower variability or the term that I a Lotta Times will use which is from. This framework is information formation. Scaling and I can come in many different ways but I might be in speed. That might be enforces. That might be in defenders that are present that might be in space. That is there so no these. These are all things that span the spectrum. We just want to extend it into the weight room to kind of introduce it into the weight room That's actually something that I'll be speaking about at the sport. Lugo Conference coming up in the twenty twenty s introducing these concepts into the weight room. I will say it doing the more variable even within the weights and the the work just just in my own in my own work right now. I'm doing just an easy strength work. So it's like same lists every day Dan John Template so ten reps total but I find myself especially when it's lighter days just subtly in my own mind making every set just a little bit different than the other doing cleans catching one in high catching one low. I just my nervous system likes it like I and I think those fed off a little bit of watching you guys as videos and things and I love it and I feel every time I've done anything like that in the past past where there's a little more like I feel just better walking out of the session I feel better the next day Now not to say too. If the volume's low anyways in terms of the traditional show barbell training easily feel fine But I just feel like I've always felt a little better just little snappier when there's those subtle changes it's more when it's more of an alive session. The epitome of that was. I spent some time training. Gary Marina VICH DOWN IN SANTA Cruz a couple years ago and he would and I wanted to ask you if you guys do this and this was mostly it just like say a physio ball work and I think some very light machine Ballistic work but he would coach. He would coach each rep rep little differently some like he. Would you'd be doing reps and he'd say like reverse or Or half rap or half ranger forward. so He'd be commanding you through that. Do you guys Have a PRESCRIP- for some of these variables sets were or. Are there ever points where you are on the fly having an athlete. Do something different with some of these as later. Loads Michael Definitely feel free to jump in or I certainly certainly am happy to happy to share. GotTa Start for me personally. No I don't have caprice script again. I want that to the athletes own exploration. Because that's what they have to do on the field. I'm not going to be in their in their ear telling them. Hey this one. Do you know half half this one before so for me. It's more athlete ownership autonomy rather than me having a script although before the set starts. I'll give them the intention and give them suggestions of what to do again. At the end of the day it comes down to them owning that that set rather than music coach Dictated what they due to wrap yet. I would echo that you know for me. I certainly don't have a prescription by any means I might have come like a framework for what I want. The data look like in this is whether it's an agility bay steak is like you just mentioned earlier I mean the speed lives in the agility for me. It's my item. It Mike Field sessions I might say my perception action work. You know. It's it's something that's going to be all inclusive versus it being separate. I don't have separate daisy more but I also take that into the weight room and it sounded almost like not knowing what the setting was like that you were speaking to their. It almost sounded like a little bit of a differential learning type. Approach where Rob Gray does a great job on his podcast. Talking about how what that is. Compared to constraints let approaches have a buffet That can strengthen approaches eating on a certain portion of the buffet. So essentially you're channeling certain options for the individual to interact with whether it's in the weight room specifically speaking to the field and for sport now sake field. I mean court sport our court rink ice. Whatever may be and then the differential learning as you're eating out of a different place each time it changes every time because it's something that I'm still digging into myself with the differential learning approach but the whole idea is that the environment has noise? The organism individual performer has noise. And that you're trying got find that that that perfect match essentially and that perfect matches dynamic process because perceptions of benedict process in terms of outside of the Barbara about work. I is this feeding into play metrics maybe as pricing. There's a few more movement options on the field. I've seen a lot of in the last couple casino-like the three D. pliers like different you know different angles and and these types of things. How how is this type of idea? Impacting some apply metric. Work that you guys are doing currently in Taylor. You had mentioned the little bit about the plastic work at Minnesota and then beyond how is this impacting the play metric and dynamic stuff that you guys are doing. I'll certainly let Michael add onto this here in a second of really good ads. But if I speak just to the weight room or not say the weight room. The weight room into the warm warm-up type work or come into what about using as a Noah Lescot Day second exercise third exercise in a in a set because the field work is far for difference. It's it's it's all stuff it's it's plow metric it's occurring it's occurring in in respect to the skill in the sport itself because I'm channeling sport type snippets of activity That's a that's a whole nother beautiful conversation but as far as the weight room itself and and we we showcase quite a bit in our course it will be coming up near the New Year but some of it may be just providing adding perturbations or for resistance You know To An athlete as they're in the air and so whether than it being there landing perfectly with their elbows elbows bent at a perfect angle in their hips perfectly and You know they're they're not letting it sink in too much. They're going to be landing differently based off of What type of if any perturbations? That were occurring from an individual. And now I will say and we spoke to a little bit earlier. It's not like we're just getting out there with an eight year old to just hammering at what he's he's not knowing how to land by any means that's where that information scaling comes in and exploration key of variability lives. But that's one way we're doing it the other way which I think we just put something on our on our social media. I believe it was instagram's where there's in Knob you know what I guess you would traditionally look at altitude landings or Depth type jumps where they're landing in different positions and encouraged to each time. And then as a coach you could take it a step further and you can look at it. From what type of positions does. The athletes seem to be landing Maybe awkwardly in or in physicians that might limit them from performing or war. Potentially aiding the Are Injury and that's where we're obviously is a coach. Step is not just a free for all. Let him go. But those are a couple of ways that we've taken it into Komo into the weight room Verses or on the on the warm up sessions versus it just being your traditional. I'm going to do a jump or do a you know a broad jump jumper whatever it may be but rather you know. You're taking it that way under Mike Laws. A lot of good adds to Fuchs Tyler. kind of hit them pretty well but thus limescale there's times where we have the ability. Navarre low amplitude hop series. We're talking to you really get a lot of Tissue Zealand. You're in a lot of repetitions. Those might have lower ability. But you just take some traditional I think metric movements or activities such as depth jumps or hurdle hops so stay hurdle hops. I'm sure most coaches use some sort of hurdle hop in their program with apply Metro Train. It's simple things as will vary the distance in the spacing of the hurdles. So now over eternal the ad has organiz. We're the next. Hurdle is coordinate their body in their movements to get over that hurdle at the very stints distances very.

Because Tom Bedford wrote this article titled I filmed an entire short film on a Sony experienced Spuria one just to see if I could thanks to the cinema pro APP and he goes through talking. A lot of philosophy on one of the biggest hurdles for budding filmmakers is getting decent gear a decent film camera like a Sony Alpha a seven s to can cost four digit price then you've got to buy a rent tripods light stands boom lapel. "You really you brought a skill set of growing to, to your arm. Yeah, I lease understanding on plants because I think that's the biggest thing is on, like a lot of people are like, oh, my can't grow anything, I'm like, well, you just have to do it in understand your plants in you. Learn about them you grow with them as they absolutely. Well, I'm so site. Randy that I'm gonna be heading back to your neighborhood of very soon for the slow flowers summit on July. First and second. And I'm so glad I'll see you there. I'm glad that you have carved up the time to get away from the farm and be part of that, that today extravaganza. It's I'm just thrilled. I'm so excited. I can't wait to learn. I think that's one of the best things about being in this industry is you're constantly learning and growing in there. So many opportunities to make connections and connect with the local community. So I can't wait to learn and just see you in everybody else, they're get to meet some new faces and. Yeah, it'll be great, and we'll learn a lot about the flowers seen in Minnesota, and it sounds like a will I've had passed guest on the podcast who are other farmers. And of course Christine Hoffman from twin cities lower exchange, but do you feel like there's really something magical going on right now in terms of the consumer sentiment and? What's happening in the floral design side with sort of caring about where their flowers, come from? I do. Yeah, I really do. And I think that movement is huge. You know, we really saw it happen in the vegetable and meat industry with supporting local farmers and people caring more about where their food is sourced from an I see that really happening with flowers now to especially it's really fun in the wedding industry to have brides that care about that in understand the, the season -ality of, of your their blooms and how they're being grown in being okay. With me using whatever in season in letting Mike field dictate what goes into their bouquets. So that's been really special to while. That's great. Well, how can people come visit you on your farm?.

"Let's do a free for all last half hour, whatever you wanna talk about goes with me included, topics. We've already discussed Michael joins us in Johns creek. Michael welcome to the program. Hey, what's up? How you doing, sir? I'm doing great. Oh, what can I do for you this evening? Talk about you said about the airport situation. I don't know. I think it's probably pretty well. But I think everything needs to have oversight. I believe, you know, since they're definitely the airport has had, you know, what administration stuff the other has had used at Doug corruption down there, and it's not a personal entitled of facility to take care of certain individuals. And I think it's, you know, again, the having some oversight just to make sure that things are done, right. Only makes sense to me. I want to know more about the this. The the details of the takeover like as a city of Atlanta resident what's the implication on the income generated from hartsfield-jackson to the city will the will that tax revenue still be going to the city of Atlantic? Because that means a lot to me as a as a Fulton County and city of Atlanta tax payer wanna make sure that speaking of the dole gone a gold dome. Don't gold. I just got a text from the Piccadilly text line from Sandra Parrish, our capitol reporter. She said the house will take up the abortion Bill shortly. I know that's something that Eric Erickson has been following closely. If that breaks during the show, if there's a vote, we'll let you know but follows throughout the evening and Atlanta's morning news with Scott Slade weather related on crossover day starting at four thirty AM Jeff is in Athens. Jeff, welcome to the Mark Arum show. Hey, good evening, guys. Well, the show. Thank you, brother. What's going on? Happy birthday Longo. I'm forty two myself. Thank you. Appreciate it. Best year of his life Longo. Ashtrays. Colin. Also wanted to chime in the city of Atlanta, personally, I think what they're doing is the city of Atlanta's been lobbying against the second airport in metro Atlanta for decades because they want to keep all the tax story. Why can't we be like any other major city and have a second airport like O'Hare and midway and so forth. I mean, it's kind of spread out. I have to drive all the way from Athens to fly anywhere and to be a lot easier to just drive like social, circle, I read I read a so in the morning. I don't know if you knew I do traffic in the morning, Jeff bow. Yeah. So every six minutes on Atlanta's morning news. I read I do we do the traffic. And then I have like a little fifteen second commercial actually, Mike shields. If you're in there, can you bring me the copy packet. So there is a commercial. I read the other day it was like some sort of airline. That's doing a special from PDK, and it's round trip to Charlotte for one hundred and fifteen dollars. And I'm like if you've ever done that Charlotte drive. That's jet. That drives sucks leg. It's. Yeah. It's it's not fun. And there's always construction ID five Mike Mike field is bringing in the copy packet here. Can you find Mike the spot about some sort of Charlotte airport flying from PDK thing? And I read it the other morning. That's a pretty good deal. You can talk in here. Mike. It's all right. You're loud. Anyway. Yeah. A second airport. That'd be interesting. Where would you put it though, Jeff? I mean, I'm thinking like social circle because there's plenty of land available to build one. But Alfa Reta would be perfect because there's already a martyr wide. You city land would be so expensive. Yeah. I don't think there's room. Hey, even have room, social, circle that's a track. I gotta think about that. Cobb airport. A couple international is not international cloud. They tried to do it Paul D county. But the city of Atlanta got squashed, they lobby. That's right. That's right. Was out west. Yeah. Paulie county. Interesting. Mike shield is diligently looking at you have a red alert, Mike. I can't give me that Packer. Yeah. You don't need to be. "Now, they may scoreboard watch the Twenty-one nothing at halftime it could change things. But going into this game. The charters are going to believe they need to have everything they can in order to make the playoffs yet NFL usually. Yeah. All them games. That matter are usually put at four o'clock or eight o'clock. So that's good to know you caught me off guard there. Sorry about that. Mike. I mean to catch you off guard. Joe worry about your chargers. Still being line of river. Still not talking for ten. Attention time. Mike field something is life. Royce Freeman Mike stepping up as the next man up I presume he would be the most fantasy relevant Bronco in week seventeen. What kind of confidence? Do you have in him? I'm excited. I will say that. I'm a little I'm a little concerned about his fantasy value. And I'll explain why first of all it's about Freeman number four and yards after contact per attempt. This season among running backs with one hundred plus carry so he he's been way better than Philip Lindsay in that department. So he is delivered the goods after initial contact. However efficiencies been poor because he's running against act boxes. Seven point one in box defenders per rush. It's third highest in the league. So that's kind of separates from Lindsey and explains again why he's not getting as much help before context. So I'm excited for especially as we evaluate these guys next season. But keep in mind, he's not a guy that does a ton as a pass catcher. So you look at Denver's usage of their running backs this season. Denver has run fifty percent of freemen Lindsey snaps. So that's that's. Very run heavy when devante Booker on the field. Only thirteen percent of the time. He's clearly they're passing down back, and he will play a pretty significant role in this game. So for me Freeman more of a fringe Rb to booker's actually PR sleeper. I think keep an eye on. Devante Booker else to keep an eye on Dacian. Hamilton just been good for the Broncos over the past three weeks. His catch. Log seven seven six his targets thirty over the past games. He's got two touchdowns. Now. This reminds me like he's got running back receiving yardage totals forty forty six and forty seven that is incredibly low yard per catch. But who cares? Mike Lynch producing like this. Yeah. No question. Good PR standard. Maybe don't like it as much but what I do. Not like is the matchup Desmond king as it was gonna make. It is one of the tougher receiver cornerback matchups of the week. King is one of the best in the business. What a find by the charges so of his hands full and by the Cortlandt Sutton, probably gonna draw Casey Hayward shadow coverage in this. So many Tim Patrick's the guy to lean toward ten leaper charger six and a half point favorites in this game. On the road. I think they cover with good vibes going into the playoffs team. The chargers, I'm actually gonna take Denver Denver beat them straight up. The first time they get in the ring. And a half points twenty three nineteen chargers win, but the Broncos cover, okay as defined you. And don't believe you, Mike. And Kyle Daniel he'll start Lindsay, Phil. They beat him last time. They had Philp Lindsey charges. Big charges. Big says Kyle Dopp lions at Packers. This of course, is the second edition of the Daniel versus Kyle bowl. It is bowl season. It got. I'm so disappointed. The BBC's bowl game got cancelled yesterday. That was crazy to lay off my Randy's bluff and not esteem yesterday. I really wanted to watch the eagles play lions go to Green Bay to play the Packers for the lions starters your confident in none players that you're interested in though or kinda got a one category. Those to find your chest injury. Now asking you for information about an injury from the lions is like asking for protected info or like where the crown jewel is hidden by now what we know about Kenny golladay. Well, it's the same chest injury that he was listed last week and ended up playing and we renew nothing about it last week. It's me it was really gonna come down to what happened on that. Because he came in questionable. You really didn't know what they were going to do. He played six catches fifty eight yards. I don't know that he emerged any worse for the wear..

I mean, obviously, you know, the end result. Know that that was always on a ten. I mean, that's why you do it for women. And you just do it in that environment. Makes it that much more sweeter up the most one game for us. You know, we ended up a nine game win streak for them. You know, kind of made the statement because they were very very hot very good football team. I'll tell you. What's not good though? Obviously not being there for eighteen years. I've been able to play but just meetings. Standing on the side. I have no idea. How coaches do it being Zayed's standing on the sideline wanting a particular outcome, obviously? But besides not dropping knowledge. You literally can't go out do anything about it. I mean, I was extremely stressed. It's an important definitely got a lot of respect to all the coaches out there that do that every week. It's it's it's crazy. Is it fair to say that nerves are higher when you're not the one actually playing then when you are the one on the field. One hundred percent. I what I could. But I can only speak for me. In my experience. But that's one hundred percent been the case for me. I feel like you know, when you're out there. I can go do something about it. My mind is so focused on what I have to do that. You don't really get caught up in the situation though. This is a big driver. This is this, you know, this and that, but when you know when your mind's not necessarily focused on what's the call. You know, those certain things you kind of do get caught up in the atmosphere, and they kind of the outside things that kinda make you. It's just the fact, and you know, you can't do anything about it. That's that's probably the worst part. You know, you can't even if you know the play with coming. You know, things that you you would wanna communicate if you were out there, you can't do those things just you're not out there. And that's what made think stressful for me. He's Mike Mitchell colts safety on Twitter and Instagram. It is I am Mike Mitchell joins me as always on a Monday afternoon calling the shots key. Ether is Ari NBC sports radio NBC, sports radio dot com. So you and I have talked a lot about Andrew luck over the last couple of weeks. I wanna deviate from him on a talk about t y Hilton. This is the guy. I'm sure that you know, when you played against him you had to match up at times with him. He finally looks healthy over the last couple of weeks. Dude showed out yesterday. I mean, he's having a really emerging this since I've been here. I mean, he's been getting off. But to answer your first part, obviously playing against them in Pittsburgh. He's the guy we always had that have are intended for absolutely some licks on the guys tough as nails. You know, obviously, not a very big guys stature. But I play with another great receiver bits isn't very big and stature Antonio Brown, but their heart and desire to just, you know, make things happened. Obviously TY has he leads deep threat speed. He's very good in and out of his brakes. You know, he had those spending yesterday. You know, hats off to him. He he's just a heck of a football player. Can't say enough. Good things about him. Mike when you look around the AFC Inonu, e that you you're a Sabrina cerebral guy. Your a guy that pays attention to everything that's going on your focus. The task at hand is what you guys can can do but still how wide open does the AFC feel. I'm not gonna lie. I did a little I did catch myself looking at you like standings didn't have. That's so goddamn. I literally did I was looking because I was actually curious. I was on the phone. I always talking about family after every game me. And my brother were having a discussion about where we were in the in in the race. And. Thoughtless of looking at it. I mean, it's why if you lose you put yourself in jeopardy very much if you win you just continue to provide yourself a chance. I mean, there's. Nine teams that legitimately have a change in the AFC to make it, you know, obviously, you got to be in the top six twelve teams total from each conference. So you've got to be in the top six, but there's at least nine in the AFC. They can get in. It all depends on who wins and who loses off CR Argo. Our focuses the colts is this control. We can control and that's a huge game. This Sunday here at home. Against the Cowboys who obviously had a very emotional big. When we were actually watching it on the plane on the way. On the way back. I mean, that's what we can control. So we have to go out and try to handle opponent, which isn't gonna be easy by any stretch. But if we do that anything's possible, you know, Mike, you talk about the Dallas Cowboys the next team you'll play again, he is Mike Mitchell called safety, Twitter, Instagram. I m Mike Mitchell joining me calling the shots Keith Barry. You talk about the Dallas Cowboys, and you and I talked about this. I guess it was six seven weeks ago when Amari Cooper joined the Cowboys, and you said how good Cooper was and how we could change that offense. So you watch that team yesterday and you see him go for over two hundred yards. How much different does Dallas look because of Amari Cooper? Well, obviously, I haven't had an opportunity to break them down yet. But I will. But just from what I've seen the last couple of games just just highlight wise. He's obviously allowing them to stretch the field vertically, you know, like I said when they signed him playing against him. He was always, you know, you have the ability to go deep. He's very quick out of his braces. Well, which means in layman's terms, he's she's good at running double moves, which you know, that's always dangerous free defensive backs. You gotta defend multiple rows and one play. I think he really open and then just from the overall part that he's opening up the offense for Zeke as well. You know, before if you wanted to beat the Cowboys, you know, you've already were winning a lot of games. But you know, you knew you had to have eight minutes tremendous in the box to to stop that run game. You know, they're awesome saliva spruce playing. Well, he was writing. Well, you knew you had to have. Eight in the box with Amari Cooper outside. You know that one on one matchup with his ability to run double moves and his deep threat speed. You know, you don't necessarily want to do that all game and put your corners in that position game. So we're just alternates up. The entire offense is getting a great addition at appears for the Cowboys, and I'll have a better breakdown for you probably small, and what's really get into their games can really start seeing who they are from a personnel standpoint. And let me just ask you not a full breakdown. I know you didn't do the do what you normally do as of yet. But you watch the game. What is it about Dak that maybe scares you a little bit or Ken scary a little bit? Because there's a lot of people that don't think this guy's very good. I disagree. I think he's I think he's a pretty good NFL quarterback. And now he's got some weapons around them. Absolutely. Said by who won? You know, what I mean Jackley the guys are professional full fare. He's obviously mourning the best thirty two someone's opinion. That's really, you know, like I said by who. I think he's a good football player. The number one thing that I see, you know, the the guy with a competitor. He found ways to win games in college. You found ways to win games obsessional level. Let me know ways comparing him to Tim tebow from like throwing or standpoint, but just that winning intangible you can't necessarily teach that or coast that he signed he's found ways to galvanize his team they believe in. I think like what exactly what you said. He's got legitimate weapons and threats around him to help them play better. You know, a lot of the times we put because begi paid so much, but you put all the onus on the border Bax. But the elite ones the ones that are playing in a high level they have a receiver. They have a running back that usually have an office, align, that's helping them do that. I mean, that's why they take football. The number one team sports think Dax. Playing better recently. Because like you said you got the health and the pieces around him, and he's a competitive football player and just find ways to win games. Like, did we lose you, Mike? No, I don't hear. I thought we broke up for a second lost you for a second. You know, what before I do? Let you go. I wanna talk about getting back onto the field. So you deal with the calf issue what what will the week entail? Like, how do you go through a week knowing that you just missed the game? And you got this this thing that you gotta get right to be able to play next Sunday. Absolutely. You know? We'll just take it day by day. It's really not something where you can just say, I'm gonna do this. Then you know, it's kinda you wake up every day. You see how you feel obviously you're pushing as far as you can cause the goal is to get back to play. You're not here to juice exists. You're here to earn your distance you here to make plays. You're here to to to help your teammates win football games. And it's and it's very difficult to do that on the sideline training. So every day. We're just pushing must've became wild trying to be smart. And you know, there's there's a there's a fine line. They'll get your work. But the plan is it's been going. Well. I think everyone needs to be involved in is happy with where I'm at and look forward to try to push it and see where we are this week would say I would love to be out there at this week. But we just gotta see like I said, we take it day by day was just got kinda gotta see how it goes. You're the man might get back out on the field. I wanna see you plan. And and just reminder it began again. Yes, sir. Thank you for having me. It's really a pleasure in this experience doing this every week with your man, I've really enjoyed it. So thank you as always. You're the man Michael talk again next week. There is.

"About the bill's passing. Yes. I was thinking about something like that couldn't get the thought together. Well, that's why I'm here. Yes. Joe's over I'm done. All right. I'm going to top that we're at seven one six again today. Sabres home to Colorado, and we'll have Paul Hamilton and robbery like we do on game days. Also, John Harris, Houston, Texas dot com. I have to say I'm getting a little bit more used to less militantly against the Houston. Texans. Watson helps a lot that coach though. He's he's terrible. He's terrible. He's terrible. He is one of the worst at like the stuff I care about strategy. I don't know if that guy would say culture over strategy, but he might he might think it. Okay. Although I know Sean McDermott he game strength. He's gotten a lot of credit from people that I think we both read for the offense that he's put into Shawn Watson played his strikes. So in that way. I I like this guy. But what are we talking about four thousand like that sort of stuff? He had a challenge on Sunday night where he saw that Zeke Elliott was stopped. And like it was at the seven yard line. And he challenged it and one which gave Dallas second in. One. Instead of first and goal. And wouldn't you rather have second in one at the seven then first and goal at like the five? Would you rather have the extra play? Probably that close. Too, many coaches don't know this is just sort of. It's not surprising. It's it's sometimes it, I roll my eyes. Sometimes it really bothers me that the league is so generally inept when it comes to this kind of strategy like why would you ever challenge a play where if you want it because it comes at a price? Right. If you want it instead of first and goal at the five your opponent has second in one of the seven like do they know this is where you need those eagles guys. Why don't all the teams have the eagles guys hard? Would it be? You're you're making fifty million dollars a year. How hard would it be to employ like how many people would you need like two one six however many? I mean, everybody that you could easily afford it three that waste if there's disagreement you can have like two versus one two three dot. One. And I don't you to somebody who's like actually cared at all about game strategy. It isn't just like a football guy like somebody who can actually help the eagles won the Super Bowl. And this was a big reason why. Yep. And I wondered about this year. I my money would beat would have been on. What is the case? I would have won on this. Like, I wondered if it would it would matter, you know, money ball in baseball. If I make sort of compare it to that moneyball got there. I took it took a while. But it got there. And I think football you've known this is going to take longer. I I think there's there's been more. I guess maybe Mitch mostly because of the eagles. But I don't know. I'm I'm hearing. More open this from some announcers. I'm not taking notes I came. I cannot get a game on when I get home on Sunday. I sometimes watch Sunday night game sometimes rush Monday night game. And it feels to me like there s even I started last year. There's more acceptance of they're gonna go for it on fourth and one at midfield. It's just it's less. Oh boy. This is risky. I feel like I'm hearing less of that. Because I think you know, I I would guess that. It's just become more prevalent. It's more accepted that teams are going to do that. And that maybe some of the people who are doing the talking on TV. No that it makes sense to do. So they're not as inclined to be more conservative. Traditionally, I don't know about this. I'd want to pin them back. Maybe. But I you you might be hypersensitive to it. Because you've been on this train for ten years. And like it's only now just starting to be the point where Chris Collins worth doesn't sound like it's gonna burst into flames. If someone goes for fourth to I it's just as you're making a point about the announcers, and that's often my point too. But right now, I'm thinking more about the coaches, and I'm thinking about the organizations, and it's incredible that they would ever make these kind of dumb choices. It's just incredible. Challenging play a spot over a yard on first down. I mean, it's just incredible that it would ever happen. And I don't I don't have high hopes for announcers because they're usually former players so well what I'm saying bring up the announcers because I think they take their cues from the games that they're watching they're less inclined to be critical. So they feel like there's a trend developing. They are probably not gonna wanna be saying. Oh my God. Andy Reid must be crazy. So I I sort of extrapolating their comments to I'm not studying this. But it feels like there's been more fourth down attempts in the last year than there was maybe in the million years prior. I'd wanna look it up. And I don't know the answer I wouldn't want to guess at that. Maybe you know, it's partly this kind of a point about how pass happy the league is to you know, because the same sort of traditional thinking that would have you thinking that putting on fourth and one at the other teams forty seven to win the field position battle is a good idea would have you also talking like win the line of scrimmage and establish the Raanan running stop the run this kind of talking. And I I do think that that is dissipating, but I just cannot believe that teams care so little about that strategic at your strategical edge that they just make these mistakes all the time. It shows you how much credit organization to organization head coaches get. For knowing that stuff, and they constantly prove that they don't. And where is where are these owners are where are these GM's says sort of noticed that and say, all right? We're gonna help you at this because you need it. And here's proof, right? Like, really, it's just not. It's not good enough. And the Houston guy is is really bad. The announcers one thing about the eagles who play tonight. There was a there was an interesting call and their game Sunday against Minnesota. They were down twenty to six right? Yup. I was watching. They were down twenty to six and scored a touchdown and went for two and Joe buck and Troy Aikman had no idea. Right. That's right. Never get his head around it. That's right. Neither of them. I want the play by play guy to at least have used Google once in his life. But like they had no idea why the eagles would do that. And it never was explained. It was never understood all they do all Aikman. We'll do is talk about momentum. And he'll talk about confidence in your defense. And all these theory sort of actually meaningless things that had nothing to do with the decision. The reason you do it. You're statistically, you're evaluating your chances of making it and any two point conversion if you're down by fourteen and you you need fourteen to tie the game. You have you know, whatever you have a chance to make a two point conversion forty five percent. Forty seven percent might you might look at it. As it varies team the team, but you don't have to look at it that way. And then if if you do what the eagles did gopher two and make it the game is yours or the lead is yours with a touchdown. And an extra point. You have no chance of taking the lead. Well, you do have a you're just not going to do it. Right. If you get to within seven, definitely. Right. So again, the next so you're you're giving yourself a chance to win it with a touch on on extra point. And if you don't make the two then you need to the next time to tie the game, right which alive there. Right. The key is and this is the most important thing with with this like going going for two points with punting with kicking a field goal versus going for all that stuff. The key is the sooner you know, what you're going to need later. The better off you are. So if eagles miss that two point conversion, they know they need eight and really you're still going for a touchdown there. But it's not that late in the game and a goal. Mike field goal situation might come up. And you know, what that means? And you've done that the sooner you know, what you're going to need later. The better off you will be. So it's all the math makes sense. Right. And even as it turned out, they could have tied it they made the two right? If I'm frankly, and they would have been set up to tie it with two field goals if. It came to that. But Minnesota tacked on a field goal. Did they not yet? So then so as they were driving with two or three minutes to go. There was talk of kicking before getting the touchdown because you're going to need to possessions. Anyway. This should all be something. I mean, I I can't say this with more authority like this should all be something that all the teams do right? Every time. And when they do when it gets to that point then it's a different ballgame. Then it's a different situation because you're not getting the advantage in general from this stuff going forward and two points. And all this you you have there's an advantage to be had in this sport that teams willingly. Pass on. They don't want it. It's it's probably offensive to them not to Philadelphia who has they're wearing rings. But it has been offensive to this league. The idea that somebody the people who don't play the sport could actually have something to offer. So this should be obvious and taken in by all the teams hundred percent of the time. They should all know it, and I think by extension the the broadcasters to they don't when the day comes. If it football is still a sport in ten years. If the NFL is still league in ten years, maybe by then everybody will do that. And that advantage. You would have would be neutralized if Philadelphia just to say the point if it Philadelphia really were the only team availing itself to this. And none of the other teams was Philadelphia has an edge on the league. When everybody else does the same thing. Then no more. So when we get there, then, you know, the conversation changes, but we're just totally not there. No. And that's when I think of the Houston Texans. I think two things I think Watson, and there are a little bit fun because of him. Yeah. I don't like that. They're fun. I want them to be a relevant team when I was a little kid. And I want all teams that were not real teams when I was a little kid to sort of go off to the side and talk amongst themselves and not be important. But whatever this is a dumb thing. So there are a little bit fun. And the other thing is this O'Brien who gets really sort of, you know, tall McCarthy a little bit with Green Bay like he just sorta gets kind of full himself at the press conferences. And I know this, you know, you guys wouldn't notice he's sort of has that attitude that? I do think he deserves credit for what he's done with Watson and that offense. So you don't have the full thing there. But I think you've at least got somebody who's willing to dip into college..

"So how do I fed friends do this. The leading hypothesis at the moment is that are magnetically sensitive. Chemical reactions in the retinas of the birds is that these chemical reactions allows them to sense the direction of the field. A recent study has identified specific protein with a great name cryptic room for that, they think is the most likely candidate for a magneto receptor. Envy's migrate responses. This is because crypto chrome, four or cry for as they like to call. It only seems to be expressed during the migratory season when they needed to guide the long journeys and get this bird who don't migrate like chickens, don't express cry for at all. The protein is located in specific cells in the retina which are involved with vision. So does this mean that the birds can actually see the magnetic field? Peter has a classic scientists onto this maybe so no flights of fancy for us today than return. No, nearly enough about how's the signaling works? It is clear of the detection of Mike field involves the birds visual system, so the receptors unlikely to be in the receptor cells. We know that when the information from the retina reaches the brain. It's processed in visual part of the brain. I think it's too soon to say whether that's literally see the magnetic field or whether it's some visual impression which of course is difficult for us to imagine because humans don't seem to have a magnetic sense. Although we have tried to find it. One study sent out blindfolded students into the woods and asked them to find a way out game. Amazingly they did without any serious injuries. And the researchers suggested that this was due to us having a secret sense of magnetic north much like the migratory birds. But like many of these findings, it has never been replicated. So we can't genuinely claim to have the superpower. Some other animals though might high-profile study a few years ago in which the scientists analyzed Google images of of wild deer and domestic cattle and found that the animal's body axes. Axes tended to align with the psychic field. Gosh, that proved difficult to replicate, but it's a hint at least that maybe these land animals that do migrate large distances might have some use for the us magnetic field. Sounds like a very attractive filled to be to me. Believe me. I didn't write that. I know everyone writes in tells me my jokes, terrible. Honestly, I'm not responsible for that one. That was, and he was beginning with Frencesco Faizy still with us is Richard Harrison. It's important to emphasize Richards isn't it that it's not just birds that sensitive to the magnetic field. There are lots of animals and other organisms that emerge now is being sensitive to main schism. Yes, that's right. And one of the best known examples of of an organism that uses the magnetic field to navigate is in a type of bacteria that we call magneto tactic bacteria. And these are amazing little creatures that have lent to built to be. Build chains of magnetic nanoparticles inside their cell, which essentially turns that bacterium into the compass, and they swim along the earth's magnetic field lines so that they can find very efficiently, the correct level in the water column for them to to to live always going to say what would be the advantage to bacteria to be able to sense the magnetic field? Well, they live under very specific conditions. They need too much. Oxygen would be poisonous to them too little is is again, not not ideal. So they live at the reeboks boundary between the two. And if you swim around randomly trying to find that level, it can be a very inefficient way. But if you own yourself in the field and swimming and exactly straight line, then you get there very efficiently. I read a story in the journal Il life about three years ago, researchers published a very interesting paper on tiny microscopic worms, and they found that these worms would swim in a certain direction through. Jelly, they grow them in when they're in England. But if you send them to Australia to Adelaide, where do these experiments, the worms will swim in the opposite direction and studying the worms. It turns out that there is a set of nerve cells at the back of the worm which are very long in one direction, but very narrow in the other axis, and they think they behave a bit like an antenna which means they might be sensitive to.

"Is quote there has been no oppression in the last one hundred years there has been no oh pression in the last one hundred years according to mike the rare lark's they ask just arrival sin face no oppression yeah his jackie came up in the 1940s jim crow was not a big deal separate drinking fountains separate bathrooms is we're not a that's not a fresh again i know there are people that feel the way mike field not mike feels but i would suggest that most of them are on their of their most of them are old white guys who don't have any black friends the thing that strikes me as weird is dick coaching in a vote for a long time and he has plenty of luck since i mean he he played wasn't did go on the on the brian song team gayle sears and brian piccolo was in he all round on his unamir's by then yeah you know so i well i thought is says me that he went well here's here's the thing and let's just be frank ditka is a fervent supporter of donald trump okay he endorsed him early he campaigned for him so he's going to walk that particular line that means if donald trump is attacking people who neil done a mike ditka is doing the same thing is what might dick it is saying reflective of what of the way president trump is leading maybe i'm just surprised i i'm surprised don't put microphones in front of people who thank you i'm i'm i that's where i'm going just don't ju it i just think that it's like this was a predictable response it was you know it's like at the end of his ten is mike ditka eighty not sure but we we can look an old but i mean space he's us this you quivalent towards the end of his tenure at espn.

"I felt like i was wasting time when do you think you identified a unique voice that you had that you as a musician were taken as we were as opposed to being your father son it's evolved it's a slow process you know what i do as i keep my head down and i practice and practice in practice and not play as much as i can because i know that that's what it takes to succeed no matter who you are no matter what you see where you come from i just put in the time as if i was an old mm pick athlete and i'm i'm training when you look at an athlete whose parent was an athlete in oh it and the thing is you learn from your parrot how much work it takes in order to get to that certain level of success in your field and so i know that i i know from watching my dad work his ass off how much work it takes to get that good and i think that talent is small part of it but also persistence and practice and passion is is is a large portion of what dr success and so i am taking a 100 percent responsibility in my own future by practising day in and day out studying mike field in and and becoming what what i hope to be one of the best musicians that i can possibly be and i think that that i mean i've got a great a dandruff feels the same way and and we are on a we just played desert trip was neil young and and blue everybody away out there as in and a lot of people felt like that was their favorite out of mccartney in the stones and all these guys that were out there and so you know i know that i can go out and play alive show that blows somebody he's mind and so i think that that i'm not trying to run away from home my dad is i'm proud of who he is and i wouldn't be anywhere without him if just for the inspiration that i've got from him i wanna ask you about neil young because you have had an incredibly fruitful and great partnership with the where did you all first meet and what.
