"He's working as a bartender. He's working at a fundraiser. He's working at the lavish home of a woman named max Sandra Mendoza, who is played by Salma Hayek. It becomes clear through a friend of a friend that Mike lane is not just some bartender at a fundraiser, but he is magic Mike. He is a male stripper who provides extraordinary pleasure to women. Yeah, let me just say you friend of a friend in there, not just any friend of a friend, but the woman and the same actress who receives the laugh dance at the ill fated sorority party in magic Mike. Beautiful. It's very, it's very smart to keep the thread going, I'll say. That leads to this encounter between lane and Salma Hayek's character. And then all of a sudden, Mike lane is whisked away to London and the plot of the movie begins. Were you yada yada, another? Well, I want to save that. I want to save our discussion about the idea of places. I'm doing some plot summary. The tricky thing about a magic Mike movie, and this was very true of magic Mike double-x-l, and it's somewhat true of this film, is that plot is not really what's most important. There are structures of the plot of this movie that I think are really meaningful to kind of inform the themes. That's true of all three of the movies. Each movie is about a different kind of thing. And they use these very loose plot structures to let soderberg kind of cook on the things that he's most interested in in this world. And this one in particular, and this seems like kind of a dumb thing to say, but it does seem like he's most interested in two things. One dance, obviously, it's a magic Mike movie, and the kind of how one dances and how one seduces with dance, and then secondarily, putting on a show, because when Mike lane goes to London and he goes with this billionaire woman max andra, she owns a theater, and she may or may not be going through a divorce, and one of the things she wants to do to kind of get the attention of her ex or to sort of neg him is to strip down this very fussy British production that has been playing at this old British theater for many years. And recontextualize it in a modern sexy way, and she's going to have Mike lane, who is a stripper from Tampa. Conceive and direct this new show. Yeah. Now, when I explain the movie like this, it sounds very dumb. And when I was watching it, I was thinking this is plot is very dumb. Yes. But it is kind of a portal. It's an entryway to certainly a home in London that I think you'll have a lot to say about. A kind of lavish lifestyle overseas is one of your favorite things in a movie. And all these dance sequences. And this assemblage of new dancers in this kind of new era. And ultimately, a big romance. That's kind of what is living at the heart of the movie.

Apple and the Android version are basically an all new cars now, Toyota was one of the last manufacturers to kind of jump on the bandwagon to get in there. A lot of that due to some concerns about where the data is being seen and stuff, but they're finally in there now. And so yeah, it's very much expanded and it's the capability, even in the new Jeep, I'm just driving is a lot more than it was just a couple of months ago. So this may be marketing spin, but apple also says 8 out of ten buyers would only buy a car if it's a parts car plays that true mic? I think if you're under 50 yes, it's probably going to be something that's very important to you because you're pretty much on the phone 24/7 and what's better way to take it in the last place where you really couldn't use it is in the car because you can use it and never have to look at that with the phone. You're using your voice to do a lot of the transactions that you want to do. So yeah, it's very nice to have them, but if you're over 50, you probably don't really care about it. You might have a smartphone, you just don't necessarily care about integrating it that extensively. We know some carmakers are much better than others when it comes to navigation maps and graphics. Do you think it's a good thing to have your iPhone take over your car's dashboard and display in this way? Yeah, some manufacturers you have to update your maps. You have to go to the dealership update your maps, get a new DVD, it costs money, where this is pretty much always updating. And it's with the cost of your phone and you're not paying anymore after that. Okay, Mike, double question. Number one, what if you don't use an iPhone and two, what are the privacy issues involved here? Well, the privacy issues are could be a lot and manufacturers are not willing to share all this information. They get between you the consumer and between the manufacturer and with the expanded capabilities of the new app, they're going to have to see this. So it's almost like a third party is going to see a lot of the information, say you put a navigation to go home, you go to the store, it's going to see that. It's going to know that. And Android also is maybe not quite as up to date, but it's pretty close. And so if you have an Android phone, you use the Android auto and you're pretty much almost the same capabilities you got with the Apple. Now, we know you don't get on your smartphone very often without being asked to buy something, look at something, everything is monetized. So I can't help but think that little trip to school to pick up your kids, sponsored by AT&T or Dick's Sporting Goods or something. I mean, is that where we're headed? I think that would not be hard to see in the future, especially for expanded revenue. And the manufacturers are going to be kind of put out of the way with their systems with Apple and Android kind of taking over all the stuff that they used to do. Apple is using the iPhone's popularity to push itself into the auto industry and carmakers are feeling a little shaky about this. Apple recently announced the next generation of its car software called CarPlay. "He is wonderful in this. You've seen him be funny, but I think this kind of goofy funny sort of riffing on his own Hollywood Ness. I very much appreciated. I like what Daniel Radcliffe is doing Daniel Radcliffe, you know, emerging as somebody who just does these bizarre roles in lots of different things. I love, but I do think that outside of those four performers, I agree that the other folks in the film are not as well served and that does include basically everybody who's not a white person who's in the movie. And I'll tell you Steven in terms of it being a throwback to romancing the stone. The reason why this isn't romancing the stone is that it's an inversion of romancing the stone, right? The romance writer in romancing the stone goes off and finds the sort of the romantic hero of the type she writes about, right? This woman goes off with a guy who is a doofus who is not the romantic hero that she writes about. That's sort of what the inversion is. I also will say you would not have seen a woman who is more than 15 years older than the guy in the romantic comedy opposite her unless they talked about it a lot. Again, bless Sandra Bullock, she also did the proposal with Ryan Reynolds. She's done a couple of these romantic comedies with guys who are significantly younger than she is where that's not a big thing in the movie, which is not something, you know, when I was first writing about movies, I wrote about this all the time that you would get these movies where the guy was like 15, 25 years older than the woman and it was always just like, oh my God, Michael Douglas. Series of Michael Douglas movies where he is acting with women 30 years younger. And Richard Gere movies. But he has to be honest about part of why that's the case. The times have changed, but also Sandra Bullock does not look like, I don't know. Bette Davis did when she was the same age. Her and Jennifer Lopez were like probably the only women right now in Hollywood who are still consistently playing against men who are ten 15 years younger if they didn't look like that. Probably wouldn't be happening because in the public's mind and Hollywood's mind largely, it's still believable that this would be a romantic couple. But I'm happy that we're seeing this. I just think we have to qualify. Well, it's interesting in passing you mentioned Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds was originally considered for the part that has played by Channing Tatum in this movie. That wouldn't have worked at all. Yeah, I don't think so. My immediate thought was how on earth would that have worked because so much of what I found enjoyable about this movie is the fact that as you said Linda, he's a doofus. He's super earnest. He's super try hard and you get so much comedic tension and release and joy from watching this super buff dude screw up when thrown into an actual action scenario. Do you see Ryan Reynolds functioning in that capacity at all? I'd see Chris Pine there before I would see Ryan Reynolds. Like I could totally see that. Chris Pine could for sure work, I think. But Ryan Reynolds is too smart me. Yes. He doesn't have that sort of innocent quality to him that Channing Tatum is able to give even while looking as like a military dude. He looks very, you know, he still feels, it seems like a teddy bear, you know? I think it took a long time for Channing Tatum because of what he looks like and because of what he started off doing, right? Not just because he started off and step up, but because he started off in like what abercrombie and Fitch ads or something like that. I remember those times. Because people knew him as a model. And then they got to know him as an actor and step up. I think it took a while for people to fully respect how really talented that guy is. It's like now whenever I see he's going to be in something, I'm always like, oh, I hope it's not grim, 'cause I know he really has enjoyed doing drama and has been good and some really good dramatic roles, but like I just love it when he's silly, I find it so incredibly pleasurable to watch. I've said it before and I will say it again. Magic Mike double-x-l is the superior magic Mike. As much as I liked the first one, I loved what that movie was doing and the way it let Channing data very much like lean into all that physicality you were talking about, as well as being really funny and silly and just like very over the top. Well, and there have been a couple people who have pointed out and I think it's true that this is a movie that is an example of a movie powered by movie stars. This is sort of what movie stars are. They are so fun to watch and they are so good together and they look so great in a movie and which is a hard thing to capture. Some people are great, great actors and also movie stars like Denzel Washington is like that, I think. Great great act on Tom Cruise is like that. This is a movie that really showcases movie star movie star Ness. Well, we want to know what you think about the lost city. I think I was just distracted by the style by the experimentation of it. He does his own editing, he does his own cinematography. He's just in control now. And he's choosing to end his magic Mike trilogy next. And I'm so excited about that. I am so curious about that because if I'm being completely honest, I thought magic Mike double-x-l was better than the first magic Mike. And he didn't direct magic Mike double XL. He produced it, but he didn't direct it. So I'm like, we'll see. But yeah. I mean, he's just good. And he's one of those guys that's earned with me anyway. Benefit of it out whenever. He could make anything and I'd watch it. You know, he could make something part 20 and I'd be like, oh, good. I can not wait to see Steven Soderbergh's spider boy's part 30. Soderbergh, he does how to land it, I guess is what I'm saying. And it's great. He does. And I have to say one of the things I've always appreciated about him as well is just like he's been one of those white male directors who is frequently back to the beginning of his days working with people of color, working with women, as leads as costars, I appreciate that. And I think he does it in a way that it doesn't feel like he's trying to get points. It's just natural and organic. And I love that we can say that about his legacy. And I also now really want to go and watch those movies that you just mentioned that I haven't seen yet. Especially let them all talk. It feels like to me without knowing. It feels like he listens. Yes. Like he's listening to his cast. He's listening to his collaborators. And I feel like with him, he's reduced barriers to him. It's just kind of him with a camera and he's walking around following people. Sometimes on his iPhone, it seems like he's reducing all these layers for his cast and the screenwriters collaborators to talk to him. You know, especially in a movie like Kimi, which is just so intimately about trauma and about experiencing one person's experience of the world, how do you do that if it's just your opinion? I don't think it's possible. The amount of empathy and the amount of expression that province is able to put into this film is it can only be in my mind a product of collaboration and sort of testament to that too is people keep wanting to work with him. The score is by cliff Martinez and this is the tenth film I think that Martinez is done with them. They both started with 6 large videotape, but the score really reminds me of the story that they did together for solaris..

"The George Floyd killing what happened People started attacking the police saying defund the police BLM and antifa were allowed to run wild Law enforcement were attacked every day The people dialed back the law enforcement just to get control of the crowds And murders went wild It's not complicated Folks attacked the cops coddled the criminals You get more criminals and less cops It's only hard for liberals to understand Now liberals don't like that argument because liberals don't want to have to run on what liberals actually do They run on a lie So their argument is in their argument is well it wasn't us attacking the police after George Floyd That did it It was definitely COVID We had nothing to do with that so don't play us So long story short I said to Jessica on the panel I said well you know don't you find it odd that 9 out of ten of cities where the murder rate per capita is the highest are run by liberals So we got into a little back and forth on that But I woke up this morning and I read this article and Ross story Now keep in mind it's rough story It's like a conspiracy blog site for the left Still this is why embrace conservatism and the real world we live in and be proud you live in it and that you're not a liberal because everything you believe is stupid Like it's just made up It's just a lie So I see this article this morning in rust story by David baldar whatever He says quote those were the Trump years Liberal brilliantly destroys Fox News crime surge framing and our co host claims So I'm reading this article by David B S and in raw story and it says tarloff began her takedown after banjo falsely claimed that the spike in the murder rate was only in areas dominated by liberal politicians So you know I said to myself I was there I saw the show because I was on it I'm like this is really fascinating How is it when you win a debate on the facts you lose a debate in the liberal media And I thought this is it This is like I gotta tell you this is how liberal This is why liberals don't know anything They never know anything and why they will continue to lose debates every single day because they are liberal media people lie to them and they just suck it up like thirsty dogs They just lick the bowl So the claim I made was at 9 out of ten of the top murder areas in the country were run by liberals Now according to David barsh at raw story hard barred Darcy whatever his name is This was a false claim that I said areas dominated by liberals at high murder rates So I just went to a search engine and put in murder rates per capita American cities I mean that was literally what I put in the search engine So here we go folks because David smart did dashi was too stupid to actually research this himself before he wrote his article at the conspiracy blog raw story Here are the top 20 cities I'll just read the top ten because that was my claim at the top 20 But top ten cities with the highest murder rates per 100,000 people St. Louis Missouri Run by Jim is that a Democrat or Republican Say Louis Missouri Just check it Pop quiz That would be a Democrat You'd be correct Number two Baltimore Maryland run by a Democrat New Orleans Louisiana Democrat Detroit Michigan Democrat Cleveland Ohio run by a Democrat Las Vegas Nevada independent who was a Democrat up to 2009 Kansas City Missouri Democrat Memphis Tennessee Democrat Newark New Jersey comes in at number 9 25 homicides per 100,000 people 25.6 Run by a Democrat and ten Chicago Illinois 24 per 100,000 people murders So it didn't take a lot of homework 'cause I do a lot of research on this topic anyway to figure out that my statement that 9 out of ten of the top areas for murders per capita murders in the United States were in fact run by Democrats Now I needed an assist from a producer Joe this morning with the math Folks listen I went to college I'm a decently smart guy I'm not Stephen Hawking level intellectual genius but math is a little troublesome for me So Jim I need the assist here So I just read to you the top ten cities for murders 9 of them are run by liberals So to do this math for me Mike double check his work please get him to write it down Ten minus one because there's only one city run by the independent who used to be a Democrat right Ten minus one Jim take your time if you need the jeopardy sounder Ten minus one is what number.

And like my my first release was under my actual name dylan deeds and i debated on releasing it under dc or dylan deeds. But i was going through a severe anxiety. Severe like black hole. Depression and i was journaling in that time. Through all of what. I was feeling and going through and stuff and i turn those journal entries into four songs and i felt like well. This is very very very personal. Some releases under my actual name dylan deeds. Which you'll hear a couple. I think a few of those songs cool so yeah and then with this new album like therapy medication. Great circle of people around me. I'm in a way better place than i was a couple years ago. Why Did the Media Withhold Information on Hunter Biden Until After Election?
"Politico just released the piece a little while ago talking about the hunter Biden investigation and the Department of Justice and how they they did their best to sideline any information from getting out to the public before the election about this hunter Biden case. They may say, Well, they should do that They could. They should keep the existence of these investigations. Private Really? Would involve something this grave like a president, United States Joe Biden, the big guy. Who may have been in cahoots with his son to take money from foreign enemies of the United States. You don't think that's an interest of national importance but of interest in national ports before the election. Who told you that? Hear from the politico piece. It says last summer, federal officials in Delaware. We're investigating Hunter Biden and they face the dilemma. The probe reached the point where prosecutors could have sought search warrants. An issued a flurry of grand jury subpoenas. Some officials involved in the case wanted to do just that. Others urged caution. They advised the U. S attorney in the case, David Wise to avoid taking any actions that could alert the public to the existence of the case in the middle of a presidential election. Then they celebrate. To his credit. He listens to the person involved in discussions now. I know, you know. Listen, I know leftist. I've been around them for over 10 years. Now I know all their tricks, their stunts, their scams. That's all they are. Scammers. Uh, liars, fraudsters. That's all I know other stands and they're going to say Listen, there was an investigation into trump in collusion. You know the difference. Being the collusion thing was fake. Um, and nobody leaked out before the election either. Really? That's interesting, cause I pulled up this article I use all the time Dated October 31st 2016 Last time I checked producer Jim that was before the election, right? The election was November. 2016. It's wednesday so must be cramp on crampton in alice. Thompson on thompson is off chasing in devon antonio. That's also rubber crops in doing so instead we've got an epstein add silvestre so the thing i want to talk about than necessarily having a cultural on the merits of mosques this concept of personal responsibility and where it sort of starts and ends and how even the idea of of personal responsibility seems to have become a source of battle and it's completely mad. They should have personal responsibility. You know somebody We can't possibly trust people to do the right thing on virus because one man put a flare up his backside outside wembley and that proves that everyone the entire general public apart from me obviously the charge under public more ones and they can't be trusted. We need rules constantly on house of all live our lives. What do you think where. Where do we need to be more globe. This concept of personal responsibility you some. Thank for as long as i can remember the cliche nanny states has been abandoned around for any moment at which the government is seen to be intruding into our lives beyond what's deemed acceptable and yet all bets are off now. It comes to mask sudden. We want the government to tell us what to do Corona virus loves people. We know that if you have pick. We have a risk of infection but equally the vaccine programs being amazingly successful. That's god every death is a is a terrible thing but the other day that was six. That's that's six people being more deeply but compared to the certain numbers that were earlier on and and as we know the people that getting infections largely are not pooling not see a massive rapid increase in hospitalizations. We have to learn to live with this thing. We don't have masks with the flu if you want to go into a crowded place without a mask then that's up to you. It would probably be sensible in the early stages of liberty to wear a mask. And i think there are certain places where it's obviously going to be absolutely necessary going to hospitals or any kind of clinical situation of. I think people have to think about it. I mike double laxed you know and my okay to move around if you want to wear a mask contesting but i think we now have to take Responsibilities this not let the government tell us what to do anymore. And where were you on this concept of personal responsibility carlos government on this because basically the about eight months of people saying stop saying silly rules my commonsense. Another month able to use their common sense. Ah now being barracked by many saying people for not setting out on a sort of itemized. Face this will. I can accommodate date. The might there. Stupid rules like unite the substantial meal and things like that. but it's still simply with the. I think shops this government has basically taken the decision. Now they can lead this in the hands of the From his law some people. Michael abdicating responsibility. Some people might say to normal life. But i think this been some sort of weighed fundamental shift in what we expected government over the last eighteen months bear on the economy will on a healthcare or on a whole number of topics where we sort of seeming. They're in charge in a fundamental shifts. In the way that for instance the economy works in the sense that if a company is struggling the phalanx game tons up and save some as bad things but just this offically fundamentally that has been a shift towards government stepping in to prevent things happening so now culture situation where government signed last breath. Things might happen. But you know it's Protect yourself people around you and and we will must call deal with being given that responsibility against lot we've become so kids scurvy now when you say adults on a cold for away. Jay partly functional normal adults who just waiting to be told by the event monitor. What's the guy at five pm. And if they're not told at five pm they become full year old soon completely. Without stifling to that. I feel i feel like you've got a very specific away day that you've been to their fifth in mind when you're talking about that. I mean i'm somebody was. There was sort of two different schools on the one hand. We don't go around you know. The government is telling us all the time you know how to do everything you know had correct plate ways to cost vote and all that sort of thing and then somebody else makes the point. Well we've got a smoking ban because it was agreed that smoking was was was dangerous and harmful health. They didn't say we'll just use commonsense on smoking decide whether or not smoking a is it a busy train or quiet train and so a little. There's a little bit of that going on his one and that's the reason. The smoking analogy is better than some of the terminology. Beautifully shot on twitter. Is the isn't paul about what you're doing on. The heart is not just about personal is the is the harm to others. And it's a question of personal responsibility but also sort of collective social responsibility to yeah. I mean sorry. Extensive of smoking. The problem with the difficulty with that the making analogy is a much the now what been butted on twitter about them. I'll tell you. I'll tell you so this morning and isolated this thing. I'll tweet about this corona virus. It seems literally than immediately regretted. As i said the thing. I find out about the mosque to mask. Debate carefully. is people talking if right now. They're working a treat and if we throw them off. We'll suddenly see a spike. In cases the in cases already happening. Maybe should talk about why and if it matters instead of having another cultural about that was making and i think this is a very fair point. You're sensible fano. I mean the is difficult. Twitter doesn't seem to think so but that's a that's full of armchair warriors sitting in that room if you met them in the street that'd be like a recipe drainpipe obscenity conference of it but So in fact because it has happened to me once or twice. And i said oh yes. It's kinda gotta go my mother-in-law sanctity by what you've met. You've somebody's being rude on twitter. You've met them a have a half and it was quite a highly placed Should i out to. Qc today sets of the nine route about my journalism. But she's he's entitled to do but he he inferred. Something was factually inaccurate. When it was which was more straight straying into personal kind of attack. And when i actually bumped into him i said you the person how dare you. And he was with the after go and he shot off. Today he go. He just makes some very very personal remarks and coolies people to account anyway that to side will will big big boys and girls now the smoking analogies difficult because obviously somebody's blowing plumes of smoke in your face. There's probably a very direct cause-effect issue in terms of what going to do to your cardiovascular and respiratory health And i do take the point about my slip but we all broadly vaccinated now and the whole point of the vaccination program was to help us get out of this situation. I'm not saying don't wear a mask their property times when maybe there should be some kind of mandatory mask perhaps on public transport on the cheap for example london hearing magister on the metro wherever you live a hospitals definitely but does that have. It's not a zero sum game any more so if you're sitting in a nice airy kind of office space with lots of open windows it's my took to it's compulsory to must..

"I actually think it's 30 it, says 27. I believe it's actually 30 and 27 is wrong, Mike. Double check that if you can think it's 30 Now, while the growth deGrom's been dominant this year, he's only pitched out of the six then he wants in his last eight starts, Alright, averaging just five and a third per starts in that span. So we do view deGrom's dominance a little differently, knowing he's only pitching five innings per start in or out. This is out of bounds from e B. T. This is the This is the norm and Baseball these days, and we see this every every every night. Really? Managers or sabermetric ng there. There. There. There, there. Decisions on whether or not to keep their starting pitchers in games. And so just because it just because of the fact that it is the the new norm, I can't hold that against Jacob deGrom, because I honestly believe if you've said All right, Jacob, go go seven or eight and you're gonna get that pitch. Count up to 120 or whatever it may be. He'd still do it and he'd still be dominant. Out of bounds totally out of bounds, Not even close. First of all, you've got to incorporate the context of of his season. So far, he's had three different medical issues pop up, so a lot of this is trying to preemptively avoid things and circumvent potholes.
