"I am now onto we're gonna get to our interview in a minute or two, but I wanted to talk about iron heart a little bit. We're gonna be talking to so FIA why who voices river Williams in marvel rising heart of iron. But I thought this was a good opportunity seeing how it's also black history month to talk about one of our coolest African American heroes right now iron heart who's really Williams. Yeah. And who doesn't love another smart genius woman in the marvel unit packs? Yeah. Some quick details about her really Williams. She makes her first appearance in invincible iron man, number seven which came out March second twenty sixteen good anniversary for today marvel history which coming up real soon and this week in marvel history. It's a short little one page cameo. The end of the issue where we see her working on a suit of armor, annoying other students at MIT you just get her name. First name is just really that issues by Brian Michael bender and Mike. Deodato? She shows back a couple months later this year number nine we see her actually suit up. She even gets the cover in her. I like her personal quote unquote Marquand though, there's a joke on the cover about. She doesn't have superhero name yet. Which is really neat. She shows up here, and there a little bit until she meets Tony stark towards the end of the series who takes her under her takes her under his wing a little bit. It's cool. But it's the next volume of invincible iron man issue number one, which came out November ninth twenty sixteen. We're really start to know who reread what she's all about by Brian Michael bender since the final Caselli, they give us through the first couple of issues rivers origins, growing up in Chicago being a genius. Like, there's kind of heartbreaking scene in that first issue. She's five years old. She's distant she's she doesn't connect with most people because she's so far advanced and they're trying to figure out what to do how to help heart. It's really interesting stuff. She feels out of. Sorts with the world, you know, even way back, and then you learn how the tragic losses of her stepfather and really particularly her best friend Natalie shaped her and drive her to become the hero. She will later become his iron heart a Herenton gold costume, which you know, is on the cover of in Iran, number one. We don't actually see that right away that shows up take an issue number three. But first we see her in her again, her kind of Mark one, silver armor, sort of Mirroring those things about Tony stark. But in her own way, it's really neat. And then she also gets a quickie little Tony stark AI because these are so advanced they need their own. You know, we see that Tony having Friday or having Jarvis or having, you know, a bunch of others. She gets a Tony Stark's. It's like choosing the voice for your Garmon. She's chose Tony stark. That's so perfect. Yeah. The first two years of her comics are allowed about her learning what it is to be. A hero getting involved in all kinds of Tony stark, Michigan and ninja stuff. And so she's really building up invincible iron number six. She's invited to join the champions, which is really important thing as a young hero with this team of other young heroes and their particular mission of trying to be different from the avengers. Being a force for good or go force for change..

Yeah, there is some sewer Throwdown action here, so much fun to read great to see sina back and love this creative team and really, really looking forward to seeing where this series goes. That's warps with a p. folks with the p. Gamarra's kinda sort of the most together person with total control of the Infinity stones we've really ever seen, but maybe not as we see the starts on full and it's really fun to see Jerry and DO play with an INFINITI story. Jerry is one of if not the funniest writer we have making comics now, but he also brings tremendous heart and this knack for sadistic story beats to the table. And you know, I almost picture him as LOKI in this story. The one who sees what's going on laughing at the wildness of the events desperately trying to pull back the curtain and see who or what shapes reality. And it's through Jerry's derange, didn't this jury depravity. One of those we get to see the warps we see source or supreme weapon heck's the wolverine Emma frost mash up and so many more do cool. Do pool come cool. Yeah, what a little creep. Yeah. So good. We need to translate. What he say seriously. I love it. The next few weeks of tie ins and continuations are going to be so RAD. Next up, we go from the cosmic madness of Infinity wars to something a little scary in Greek with journey into mystery the birth of Coa number one. This is Jamie's pick of the week. It's written by Dennis hopeless with art by Gibril Morissette fawn colors by Rachelle Rosenberg and letters by VC's. Travis Lanham. We are journey into the past here to get a great World War Two story with sergeant fury, and his howling commandos they're on a mission. It goes wrong. They meet an island that talks boom. Yeah, but there's so much cre- be creepy stuff that goes down in between. I love the dumb dumb stuff. Hey, we were just talking about smart smart, Duggan, Jerry. Well, what about dum? Dum Dugan boy, stretch Tucker. I love anything that involves all dude and his moustache bowler hat. There is some stuff I think we've spoken about this before, and I think we've actually talked about it when we were breaking down Infinity gauntlet, the virgin the beasts, no, but let it be known that Ryan is one who told me about that will get. Due to hear. But when like a character, it's like overtaken by like some sort of like. Yes, yeah. Yeah. And so we see that here. The island is most certainly not what it seems and it is very, very mister is worthy of the title and there's some creepy gross disgusting like woo. Like she's spine. Shivering moments in here that we see with the commandos we see, you know, classic sergeant fury to in his heroic best. It is a really, really fun issue, and yeah, cool to see. It's just such a great take on the nineteen fifties atlas era style, horror, monster books. I think Dennis and the team nail it one hundred percent really, really cool. I'm glad we don't often put out just one shot just to be like, here's a cool story. Check it out. All right. Next book is marvel rising omega number one, written by Devin Grayson. Art by.

"The maggots the evil version of Adam Warlock. But by the end of Infinity wore number one, we have doom and carrying and they're teaming up to get power. That's wonderful. Thanos rolling up to the Infinity watch for help all the heroes. They're just gathering together and it's the makings of a really good time. You know what I like about the villains teaming up is that you know they're all in it for themselves. It's kind of like a bed, comedy, improv team, where everyone's trying to get on some show, everyone's trying to make their own career and they don't really care about helping their teammates. So they have to work together until they don't have to work together anymore. Issue also has amazing gate fold covers. I know Jimmy, you're reading it in marvel limited and you're looking through my collected edition and so we reprint them. So you see the covers across two pages, but it was actually three full pages where the covers it was the front, the back and then an interior flu. So you have these beautiful gate fold cover. Number one is this lovely art of all the heroes gathered number two. It's a big hero versus hero brawl. Each one is just so big and bombastic. Then we got this. We're getting into things. Now, number two is like lots of track being laid down so important for this big event. There's so many things. That they have to do just providing like vomiting out details and information. And next step you could tell it. The first issue was a lot of scene setting and a lot of something's up. Something's differ that like that first five minutes, and they tell you to write in every screenplay like this is the point where things have to change. Something is weird right off the bat and sit than issue to really says things in motion. And yeah, I definitely felt the ball starting to get rolling characters, going places, Infos being laid out. We also get origin info on who and what the magazine and how he came to be once again, because he was gone. There's a lot here issue three, though we getting into that and that mirrors Infinity gauntlet with issue, three of fitting garland, the heroes gathering here. Same thing heroes gathering. They're taking their force. They're going to go after Thanos where they think in war is the big villain, but the magazines, the one playing them all and he blows up. Gladys's ship those more d'appel ganger another group of heroes. It's tremendous. You need those big spreads because it's so many characters fighting each other. And then there are doubles of those characters and, oh, what a mess, what a big old cosmic mess. What are the Warlock issues that we see that connects to this? One of the tie-ins has Gamarra's fighting and then joking afterwards, how good Amora is. It's such an interesting dynamic based on like the way we think about 'camorra and Thanos. Now in the comics now with like multimedia here, it's there's a, it's almost sweet. Yeah, it's and there's one panel words just Comoro and Thanos in like going through their fight, and it's just great damore looking bad ass shot. This one Gamarra's just putting like a super like Volkan pinch on a part of fans is neck. She goes right for a nerve, right? Yeah. And so he's, she's like. I got a nerve hold and he stuck their dead. Like are you sure? And that is like a glint Donald says, is like, Gotcha joking, my little girl. They're all like, super sweet. Like, Aww, shucks it's great. Nothing like we know now I love it. What I was reading the fourth issue anymore. We get to back to back double page splashes of these big moments, big battles. And it reminds me a little bit of the big splashes infamy Boers number one where we have the big park seen Mike Deodato doing such tremendous work there. It's so good, but throughout the story we have doom and can teaming up, and that is one of my favorite parts of this is the two of them secretly conspiring against each other. They're like saying one thing and then thinking like, and then I'm gonna stab, stupid face. It Superfund like this partnership is just so not gonna. Last one's going to order coffee one's gonna order t and they're just going to get into an argument and blow up the universe. Yes. Unfortunately, we don't get to see them go that far yet we see issue.

"Years and it's always like big crazy wild stuff and then to see those things come to fruition is over warning and luckily jerry is joined by pencils aaron cooter and mike hawthorne inkers aaron cooter and terry palette colors by the mighty jordi belair lettering by corey petite and there's also as we saw in the first issue of infinity countdown a forging the armor page by artists mike deodato junior and frank martin and so this is this is just the big summer blockbuster comic for us and you've got all these different pieces where everybody's looking for the stones it's a countdown count onto what we'll find out but we're looking for the infinity stones there's a battle going on telephone a with the they're not really the guardians of the galaxy anymore they sorta broke up but they're still there they're together they're facing this giant floral colossus named scar which think of groot but really mean and godzilla sized that's what scars he super cold those pages are just beautiful by aaron cooter and jordi belair then there's the other battle going on on z twang which has drax and commander eve back in verses the rap doors versus the chautari it's a three way battle and it just gets crazy crazy crazy you also have an atom warlock story those are the pages drawn by mike hawthorne he meets up with ultra on a planet safe so there's so much going on in this story but it feels so fast here that that some snaps there's so many things happening jerry has a great way of writing these big massive action scenes but then populating them with emotional beats with huge bouts of humor that aren't necessarily funny all the time to either like this one here i'm showing this tj me this is scar vomiting up rainbow flowers essentially because he's basically been sort of poison on the inside by one grew to.
