"He's been, he's been good. He's not coming off the bench anymore, he's starting. Obviously, every one of their games so far. And averaging twice as many assists per game as he ever has before really making plays. He's 20 and 5 a game. I wouldn't have expected that from Jordan Clarkson, would you? No, I wouldn't have. And I think credit is due to him credit is due to hardy once again for getting those veterans, Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, even a guy like Rudy gay, to buy in after you are a quote unquote contender for a few years, and then you make these trades that are clearly a step in a different direction

"That's no guarantee either and still you do not want to eliminate yourself from the possibility of a generational type talent like Victor wembanyama and there's no guarantee you get them with a 14% chance with a top three bottom three record blah blah blah. I get all that. You have to put yourself in the running when you're in this position. I mostly agree with that. Look, I don't think that the front office's position on trading its vets have changed. I think Mike Connolly is still very much available. I think Jordan Clarkson, who has been fantastic, is very much available. Lowry marketing, I don't know. I mean, you're right. His value probably has never been higher, but he is 25 years old and at some point you're going to want guys to play around Victor Webb, but Yama, if you do get him, or scoot Henderson or whatever. So I'm not sure Lowry marketing that they'd be so quick to trade him at the moment. But I think all the guys that you thought were available before the season are still currently available. I just want to just dive into for a minute why the jazz are playing so well. You mentioned marketing. He's been absolutely outstanding. Averaging 22 points per game on just about 16 shots per game he's shooting 51% from the floor. That includes 7 of his attempts coming from three where he still isn't very good. He's creating mismatches offensively. He's been a solid rim protector, defensively. And he can get even better. I mentioned three point shooting. He's shooting below 30% from three, which is well below. Which is wild. Yeah, which is wild. Because he's a good three. He's a good three point shooter. Exactly. Last two seat and think he was 35% last year, 36%, 40% the year before when that number goes up, Lowry market is going to be even better score for this team. I mentioned the depth. One of the benefits of not having a star heavy roster is that there's not a lot of drop off when you go to the bench. They have, they have 6 guys right now averaging a double figures. Jared Vanderbilt is about a point away from double figures. You go from Jordan Clarkson and Mike Conley to Colin Sexton and Taylor Horton Tucker and there really isn't a massive drop off.

"Most able to draw defensive up in the league is they only generated 8 open threes all night against a team who's best defensive player is Jared Vanderbilt and whose second best defensive player is. Mike Conley at 30 whatever years old. So that's, I mean, I think that Denver will play a lot better, but just in terms of opening night what happened, that's almost a bigger, that's a bigger mystery to me than Brooklyn getting walked, but why I think is going to be a pretty good New Orleans team. Yeah. Yeah, and there's another one while we're overreacting. Man, the pelicans. They looked amazing. Zion took 17 shots at the rim. Wow. There will be teams. There will be teams that might not average 17 shots at the rim a game this season. Yeah. He is, as we've just been reminded, very vividly, very hard to stop once he's on the move. And he will chase his own misses and other people's misses and he doesn't need much room and he will find the room if it's not there. Just an amazing performance by him. And a lot of fun. Speaking of, hey, basketball is just being fun to watch. The pelicans wherever they end up this year, I think I'm just going to be a lot of fun to watch. So good deal. Had a few other things that were potentially on the agenda, but we'll do it again and get to those the next time Seth part now. Thank you for coming on again. "And then who is it they picked up midway through. I've been seeing rumors of Mike Conley that they're interested in trying to go after. They got Karis levert to talk about so that would be an interesting one. I just don't know what you would get from them. Yeah, I'm not too sure, but if you really think about it THT since he's not a pure point guard, he's a guy that you could put with Garland as well on the floor. And I think that's part of the things they want to take a little bit of the ball handling and playmaking pressure off of him. So you can put a THD on the floor with him. And it could work. So I don't know if they'd be interested, but that is a team that I wouldn't mind calling up if I were the Lakers. Give me Darius Garland, please. Thank you. Who would have been the Lakers pick at four? Yes, they kept that big. No. Is that true? Yep. Yep. That was the AD pick, though. 2019. Oh, okay. All right, all right. I'll take that. If that was like the Danny Green. I was like, 'cause I know we weren't for the green, but the Danny Green pick was supposed to be a Desmond bane, I think. Oh, good. Glad we didn't pass on anything great for your dentist Schroeder. That's tough. At the end of the day, that's tough. Oh my gosh, Dennis. Apparently, Kenny Lofton, junior is not Kenny Lofton, the baseball players. No? I'm still working on my draft prep. You gotta keep working on that sermon king you spread and misinformation..

"You can have in a hockey. You can have a great third line center, you know, or a punt returner whose spectacular at what he does are a special team or Matthew slater's great. If you make Matthew slater, your wide receiver two later. I'm just saying, if you get a guy who does a lot of little things well, like the third line mucker and grinder and you put them on the top line, you're gonna be disappointed as production. Doesn't mean he's bad. He's just miscast. So Marcus smart as this lead role ball handling playmaking point guard that's supposed to help unlock the Celtics offense isn't the guy. That's all I'm saying. I mean, yeah. If Kyrie had stayed, is Marcus smart your point guard? I mean, you know he's in his perfect role for himself. He might be the two or he might be the 6th man. You know what I mean? He wasn't originally thought of to have this role in the team. So we don't have to pretend that he's crushing it on in that role. Yeah. Because he's not. We don't have to pretend we're off the lie. Everyone, everyone here has eyes, everyone's an educated enough sports fanny can see and we don't have to tell anybody what they're seeing. They can see it. They can see that Marcus smart has his warts and he's not Bobby. If Evan Lazar freaking sprains his ankle heading into this weekend's game, I'm sending you to cover the Patriots. You might not do as good a job as Evan lazard doesn't make you a bad reporter, okay? You're not a patriot, you know, you're not. You're not a patriot guy, okay? He is some crazy analogies. I don't even know how to respond to them. And bob, your defense, nobody could back up Lazar. He's absolutely me. He's a legend. He's a legend. So let's wrap it up. We've been going a bit fun show. I wanted to say one thing. Thank you. Go ahead. You're talking about point guards. And I saw this on Twitter yesterday. The idea of Mike Conley and there's no rumors or anything like that, but it was just throw someone's thrown out. Yeah, I like that. That was thrown out recently. I think that is like, honestly, if you really want to save or give this team a real chance, that's like the perfect brown though, Jimmy. No, no, no, I'm saying, no, you're not talking around for Mike Conley. Yeah, who else are you gonna give up for Conley? He's like, it is. They do calmly for smart. I don't.

"If that happens again to this team in the playoffs, Marcus smart plus salary for Mike Conley is going to happen. I can feel it in my bones. I can. So I'm just going to throw that out there into the universe. No, that people know. Get it on record. Please tell me, tell me why that is an egregious idea in your mind. It depends who the plus salaries because it can't just be filler guys. It has to be someone who Utah actually wants in their rotation. Okay, well, fundamentally, what is wrong with do you just not think that Marcus smart is a good defensive player? What is the criticism? No, I think he's a good defensive player, but I think the gap between him and Mike Conley is too big to do what's essentially a one for one plus filler. Well, the argument would be that. Yeah, but he's still no slouch defensively. They play well when he's on the floor. Yeah, well, I mean, yeah, sure. All of his minutes are tied to Rudy Gobert. That's the reason why his defensive numbers are so strong. But if you just watched in the play, I think I'm not blaming my Conley..

"Welcome onto our western conference over unders. Danny larue gonna join me here in a second. We did the east earlier this week. Four dunked on prime subscribers of course reminded that romy going back to five days a week very shortly so great time to sign up if you are not yet a dunked on prime member and you can also get total access which includes our salary sheets chats all the stuff that what has gotten so used to during what's to be a fool. Nbc's with eighty two games in theory. Danny so let's just kind of catch up people on how we're going to do this and get rolling here. So we're using numbers from caesar sportsbook was sometimes. It can be a challenge when things can spread out in their different lines over so we wanted to pick a single outlet and we went with that and some of the numbers that will often use will use. I'd like cleaning the glasses net rating. Because then you can basically project out. What a new team would normally win over at eighty two game season or seventy two season with that with that Differential then because the the reason why sometimes you look for that over a teams record or something is that because clutch performance is often the big differentiator when a team varies from this and that generally doesn't persist year year. It does not something. The teams generally do so. It can be more predictive. It could be better and then we'll look at other factors like if the team had anomalous opponent three point shooting or anything else that could be fluky in there and then at the end of it We will also pick because we are. We've already done. Eastern conference will also pick our five best bets for both conferences single over unders. The are five favorites his. Let's be we're gonna start at the bottom of the alphabet as we did for the eastern conference with the utah jazz the and the jazz fifty one and a half over under notable. Because not only did the jazz win. Fifty two last year in a seventy two game season. Which would equate to a fifty nine win team which of course led the nba. But they are expected winds. Were of a sixty six win team. They had an eleven point three net rating. And surely you don't expect this to be quite the same magical regular season. They also seem like during the period early on in the year when there are a lotta blowouts that they just certain teams just couldn't deal with them they couldn't do rudy gobert the rim on offense. They couldn't deal with the driving kicks and all the three pointers offer. Pick and rolls on defense and that they just put bad teams on their asked blowing them out by forty points so keep in mind though that the clean the glass net rating does exclude garbage time. So i mean this would basically mean that the utah jazz are going to be. Fourteen wins worse in terms of their team. Quality compared to last year was the case. I guess there there are a couple of different parts of it. So one is yes. The jazz had a had a top three offense and defense last year. Which is pretty incredible. But they were incredibly. Reliant defensively on one guy. The justified defensive player of the year rudy gobert and while he has been pretty durable over the years. That is a lot of risk to take on also. The jazz were extremely fortunate in terms of opponent. Three point shooting opponent the second worst from three of any team in the league. The knicks gave up the worst and so generally. That's something teams can control less so the idea is like if you go from thirty four point. Eight percent of threes to thirty seven percent. Oh that that makes a difference. It's absurd defense also. It's hard to the jazz health last year. Yes donovan. Mitchell and mike conley both missed about twenty games each but everybody else of their key rotation was really healthy. Last year. o'neill bogdanovich go bare. Joe ingles all those guys missed five or fewer games. And so if you do that in the jazz have players. But they aren't the deepest team in the league. So i'm guessing those would be the biggest arguments also. The jazz are on the older side. You know done. Mitchell is probably the only key jazzman that you would expect based on the age curve to be better this year than he was last year. So you have buchnevich. Conley ingles are all in their thirties. Maybe that's part of the argument is well. Yeah and they just were an awesome three point shooting team that role. They got a lot better shooting. Threes off the dribble. Mike conley even if he's able to stay a little bit healthier unlikely that he's going to be able to recreate the incredible shooting season that he had a year ago. Now mitchell i mean maybe he could take another step forward a he could could hold better defensively that might be nice But yeah. I mean booked on vich go bare. Even you know this. Is this age. Twenty nine season. He played seventy one games last year. And now choose credit. He seems almost never get hurt lately. Which is nice but expect. He's going to miss a few and then it really becomes difficult for them to defending they've got a little bit more of that kind of same system out that's on whiteside but You know we won't be comparing blunt cook to the sun aura to really go bear at anytime soon. Defensively i mean they do have a little bit more versatility with the signing of rudy gay. May they can do little small center as well but you know george. Yang also shot forty-three percent from three last year So i'm not sure that really gays going to be able to repeat that if they're gonna miss some of the offensive finishing a of derrick favors as wall so. I think there's an argument that they could be a little bit worse when you consider the help and just the performance and maybe the departure of neang and favors. But i mean they're system just works in the regular season and i think the fact that the jazz you know. They were dominating all year but they also won six fewer games than expected. I think that that is just obscuring. How unbelievably and of course that second losses. Well how unbelievably dow that they were in the regular season of backup. Point guard is maybe a little bit of an issue. So you know if mitchell or go bayer conley were to miss significant time. They they might run into some issues but they just they just house bad teams and i think this is looking as probably one of my best bets for the overrode say it is when it will be one of my best bets as well and the other factor that we should mention here because the two teams that are effects are both in west conferences that the jazz are one of only two teams..

"Last year only one thirteenth man and one of the things that i absolutely loved about utah last year was how many minutes and meaningful minutes quin snyder. Got some a. I still think there is a lot there for him to work on his decision. Making is not quite there yet. Like he's a solid fuel guy but like he he's still stops the ball a little bit and that was killer for the jazz like it wasn't all the time but there were moments where life may only gets the ball in the corner and he's a capable shooter like if somebody's closing out to him and he doesn't take the ball right away that can really negate the initial advantage created by donovan mitchell. Mike conley or whoever drives and especially for the way that utah's built. You can't do that so i think you're looking for that for me only this year but i also thought he showed some real flashes defensively that i liked last year. He just brings more athleticism. I think if the shot is there and he's capable of attacking like he can drive to the rim score room. He can do stuff as a quarter that i really like. He's somebody who. I'm high on coming into this year as a real bet on candidate and what they can do like looking at royce. O.'neil a couple years back as he started to come. In as a as an undrafted guy i wanna say was undrafted. I can't remember my apologies from wrong on that. I don't have the time to look it up right now. But i really liked how he started to integrate. And we've seen how he's become a real star in the league now. I think that that's there for miami and with more ball hanley chops and i think there's a little bit more upside for him to just as an offensive player. I'm very to see how that works. Allies hughes who was their second round draft pick out of syracuse i. He didn't play a talk for utah. Last year. he played more in the g. league. I didn't watch his dealing minutes just to be completely honest watches much because i wanted to last year. We'll probably watch more this year analysis out of school but with the logic us like he showed some real. I know he got very hyped up in the twenty twenty draft because of i. I don't mean a positive or negative. Just mean like he was hyped up because i think he led the ncaa isolation scoring efficiency. If i remember correctly he's a good size wing with some shock creation shops and ability to do that. I wanna see more from him defensively. I don't know what his playmaking is like. Because again like i haven't seen him since syracuse..

"Of the sites. He was listed. No it's exciting. We're we're obviously very happy for them and and it's well deserved and and by that. I mean that my friend getting money as always well deserved. I don't actually a it will probably chime in and be like his his advance stats actually say that he deserves seventy seventy three million. Five years ninety. I see us as well deserved. He deserves the money. The part that sucks the part. That's boring is this deal was done as we said like three minutes after the deadline or the the window opens any state with the miami. Which like. I didn't want him to not stay with miami. I just wanted. I wanted some tiffany graphics. I wanted to mystique. I wanted his name. Florida to the lakers to the knicks yes I wanted. I wanted him to like toy with the idea of going to china or australia or something like the idea of an offer has been made from the chinese basketball league from dunkin to make like fifty million dollars a year and they wanted to like bill. You know whether it's true franchise. But duncan yes. I wanted all this stuff to float around rica. come on the show talk about it. We could try to call dunkin unsolicited. Get his get. None of that's going to happen. He all that happened. Was the windows open. Dunkin got rich and everything else. The same shout dunkin because You know we were joking on this program when he snubbed us. I i assume that miami was moving on because i thought to myself. There's no way that pat riley walks into his office. A man who is know put together some of the greatest teams in nba history. That he was going to say. I gotta pay dunkin ninety million dollars because i assumed teams like the knicks would throw a huge offer at him to basically try to steal him away from the miami heat to the fact that riley gotten a room and said we're not letting dunkin leave that he has to feel great about that. I mean this is one of the pillars of nba basketball saying dunkin. You belong here. You're great. We love you here in miami and i couldn't be happier for i love the idea of the piston signing him for for for the michigan connection and then dunkin looks up and realizes yana team which is as liberty metrics. Telling everybody's like. I've just start over him. Six another another big deal that happened in our world. that's also equally good news in that guy's got the bag but also bad news in that this is extremely boring and was hoping for more injury in content. And frankly it's disgusting that our friends don't ever think about mike conley once again. Secures the bag three years. Seventy four billion dollar deal to stay in utah i. I'm happy for mike but also devastated for myself. Because i wanted to will mike to los angeles. Somehow the clippers the lakers. I didn't care. I just love the idea of mike plane in l. a. And like i could use that to my personal game. And you're like i need tickets to games like please angeles let me go. Hang out with know who i promise. Tell stories on the promise. you promise. Tampering you know what i mean. This is the problem with tapering because if tampering did not exist russell westbrook is not have dinner lebron's house on taco tuesday with anthony davis and agrees basically to be the third option. So then we would have started free agency at midnight. And then i think there is a world in which mike conley could have gotten ahead of russell westbrook and convinced you know. Anthony davis and lebron james that he was going to be their point guard of the future but because of the tampering. That happened three weeks ago. Russell westbrook basically took his spot. So that's why i'm upset. You know how do you. How do you file a claim. I like that idea how you know. Like when you're watching golf You can call a hotline apparently these. That's my understanding of it off. Just call the hotline. I think that's how it works non-native you're not one. Bryce of shambo grounded his club on the bunker. Yes yes everyone in america would be doing that if he was in the olympics. Thank god he was in the picks against your country that would have been really tough bake. Where's the tip line for tampering. I need to call and complain complained. Adam silver that the taco tuesday has ruined my trips to nobody with mike conley. David stern would never let this happen. Because like david stern understands that content is king also likes the idea of competition so he would have had to let you know rob pelinka flounder a little bit in this new free agency pool but instead lebron james gets ahead of it. Lebron james gives the deal done and here. We are the jess if any two teammates met with another nba player. David stern would make them record the entire conversation amid a report of all the things you talked about in y you talked about and then he would release the tapes. This is this good for concert though. Because i'm trying to think of other. Big names Chris paul stain with the sons. I don't think that was much of a surprise. At least it wasn't to me. I mean we had shoulder issue this year and then you know the hand is shoe in throughout the play offs and then when he was with the rockets we had the hamstring issues. So you know he's going to be older you know so they're going to have to get someone else on this roster as far as scoring Who are going to be not sure. But i feel like a guy like a gordon erik gordon type of guy from the rockets. Maybe off your bencher. In that starting position would probably be voting. Well for a team like phoenix. I gives you another guy that can know. Give you twenty points per night for shirt if he gets the minutes. But i'd i'm not sure what the contract is going to be for a chris. Paul bite turning down forty four million dollars for one year. I mean what would you do in that point..

"Because he i'm billy donovan. Had their thing going at okay see some sense so that makes them good. He better he better hope for it because the shooter market once. He's point guard roulette. What's the wheel stops. There's going to be these guys who are like wait. A second major told me. I was gonna make twenty million a year. Why do i have to sign for seven. What have i guess what. There's two teams left washington in chicago. And there's five point guards available. Who i'll think there were twenty million dollars so three of you're losing. That's how this is playing out spencer. Dinwiddie is another one I know he's had the acl. I know that. But i think he would if i were gm. I'd be intrigued with him. I just i spencer. Dinwiddie is one of those guys that bet on himself. And then and i. I just liked the way carries and i would argue. He lost because he. He hurt his knee in his contract here. Yeah but i. I mean i mean in terms of getting himself by the g. league get a valuable person in the league. That's what i'm talking about. Yeah so i'd i'd be. i'd be interested in spencer. dinwiddie the ringers Big was that's his favorite free agent and he was like wait. Got yeah go back and look at the work in brooklyn. That guy is a really good point guard when yes great leader and you know what else. He's a leader. I remember being there. The euro's doing that piece on kyrie and two years ago now and just watching him in practice and watching him interact with teammates. Guys believed in him vert following around like a puppy. And you know it's not expensive. He's this you know ten year vet. He's just i think players respond to them Well speaking of Expensive point guards so it seems like connolly's going back to utah and they did this favor straight so that have money to pay online. Rumor is like twenty five million twenty and twenty five somewhere there to me that stupid and i like my calmly but he was in the two thousand seven draft. It's been a long time. He's had injury stuff the last couple years as he has And it's a market that right now. I'm looking at it. Lowry lonzo Mike conley reggie jackson Spencer dinwiddie dennis shooter. Patty mills gorn dragoj outs caruso like derek payne. Derrick rose cameron payne. There's eleven point guards available and it's like why do i have to spend twenty five million dollars on mike conley. I don't think that's smart. Well but just remember what. You're talking about what you said before about charlotte. It's utah if someone wants to come back at someone's been successful in your system. And he wants to come back and he has like glitz. And i don't know this fact but i think that he donovan. Mitchell have respect for one another and believe in one another. And if donovan mitchell says you hey hope you're bringing mike conley back i i'd bring him back. You're not going to get a a major free agent destination if you're the utah jazz..

"The question is who are the second period. They're also guys ahead in the first round. Obviously and they didn't go in the first round. One is jared butler. Now i understand it. There's medical concerns there. The nba cleared him. But it doesn't mean that your doctor cleared him. This happens all the time in the nba. Draft like the nba says. Yeah you can take this guy you want to and then your doctor say no you can't. We're not doing this. I'm not certain. How many franchises. If any franchises did that with jared but it is well documented there is a medical concern there to some degree and that might have been the type of thing that sent him down to forty as opposed to twenty fifth or thirty seconds or thirty eight or whatever either way forty to the jazz and it just seems like a perfect fit. I mean think about utah donovan mitchell. Mike conley guards who can play on or off the ball and shoot. What is jerry butler. He's guarded by on or off the ball and really really shoot it. I think that's perfect. And sometimes you know this as well as i who's going to be the second round pick who has a really nice career it sometimes the guy who gets in the right situation and it just feels like utah surrounded by real pros like an. I know my colleagues a free agent but like we own the don of mitchell's there no matter what. There's a lot of thought that michael be back there. I mean the real professionals who go about stuff the right like get get involved with those guys like imagine being a rookie. Just want a national championship. Most standing player in the final four. And now you get to go learn and work with learned from work with donovan. Mitchell and mike conley in theory. It's a really great spot. So i know on some level jared must have been disappointing to still be available at forty but sometimes slipping in a draft but ending up at a great place is actually a good thing. Even if it doesn't feel like it on draft night. And i got a good chance to be an example of that another guy and i think most people were re in. This is probably if you went and did a consensus mock draft. Where was this guy projected and then allow. This is where he went. The distance between these numbers by sherry cooper right Goes all the way down to forty eight at atlanta. And i'm assuming most of the concerns are that he's a little he's little bitty and it's hard to be a little bit in special in that league. I'm sure there's other stuff but that's that might be where it starts. But i guess. I'm not schalke slipped to the second round but all the way to forty eight was a bit surprising and i guess it could be boomer bust you know he could either be incredible playmaker and distributor in shock creator in the nba as a relatively small person or it could just be a small person. That doesn't make it in the nba. Because he's a small tourist. Yeah yeah but you have to bet on the talent to and especially at that. Point in the draft makes tonnison. This is a guy who has a freshman average twenty point two points per game and eight point eight point one assists per game. Now he shot just twenty two point eight percent from three. I think that's a that's a huge concern too. And i think that's probably at least a huge part if not a one of the bigger parts for why he slipped in addition to him being a little bitty Just just the shot. I think it needs some refinement. He's he kind of sits back in his stance in. It doesn't totally look right. Needs a little bit of an overhaul a refinement. At the very least. But i actually. I loved that. Pick for for the hawks. They also got jalen johnson in the first round. I thought that was pretty good. Value at number twenty overall. This is a guy who was was a top ten borderline top ten prospect coming into the draft Two guys who i think can be really good playmakers for their position. And i i like the cooper out. Because i thought that was really good values while in the second round. It can't be common. I haven't had time to look this up. But i'll probably never look it up but it can't be common to get to one and done former five star prospects with the twentieth forty eight pick. That can't be a normal thing. now. I i'm ever according to christopher's mother so if not the first time ever it's gotta be pretty rare and i'm with you on the jalen johnson pick. I would've touched him in the top ten. There was times where people had gone. Eight the ninth and stuff like that was too high for me but at some point in draft. The way eric bossy explained it on. Cbs sports q. Tonight and i thought this was accurate. You know as a cost benefit analysis like okay. We're picking twentieth. What else are we going to get here to take a swing. A guy who a year ago would have been a top pick. Like i don't. I'm not thrilled that he quit. Duke that does make me wonder if there's some stuff going on there that he quit. After his role got reduced. The shot is problematic. But you got a guy who would have gone top ten a year ago tonight and he's available at twenty one at take a big swing for different reasons. It's very similar to what denver did with michael porter jr. a few years ago denver just got a point in the draft where they said all right. What do we like this guy who some people thought a year ago would have been the number one pick in the draft is sitting here and his back may never allow him to be anything close to what he was supposed to be..

"I mean, the reason I don't really think about Mike Conley is cuz I think it's kind of a given he's staying with the Jazz I just think they like his fit next to Donovan Mitchell. I think he enjoyed it there right? I don't really see a reason that he would leave especially if they want you know that unfinished business mantra for next season. I don't know. But yeah, I don't really see him leaving and I don't really see him coming to the Lakers if he did leave. So that's why I'm like it's not really a huge topic. It's Yeah. Yeah. I mean and there's few people chiming in saying, we don't have the money for that, you know, realistically don't I'm talking about the scenario where you get Mike Conley decides, you know what I really want to ring the Lakers are my best chance to get one right now guys. Give me your mid-level exception and I'm going to come on. I kind of an end of the career veteran type I'm thinking thinking, back to Karl Malone and Gary Payton, obviously, that didn't work out the way we wanted it to, but that type of, that's the way that you get a guy like a Mike Conley, which very very rare. I'm almost certainly not going to happen. If I think a player that you're way more likely to get on that type of deal where a guy just says, I want to come home, I want to be on, I want to be on the Lakers and I'm near the end of my career and I want to make it work on a championship team. The guy you're more likely to do that with is DeMar DeRozan. Yeah, he's and I pay more likely to do that. If you had to pick like off the money's equal, let's let's pretend the money's equal Mike Conley or DeMar DeRozan which app Mike Conley but the, the Gap isn't too big. I really like DeMar DeRozan. I I think again, he's more likely to do that whole. Like I'll take your mid-level exception just because I wash in LA and I want to contend for the championship, but I don't. But if yeah both were equally both were saying, I'll take your mid-level exception. Absolutely, Mike Conley. I think so. I think he's well, the three-point shooting makes him a better fit because he's got the ability to just be simply that in and of itself, I do like DeMar DeRozan a lot though. What I'm really curious to see what his free-agency, like I wonder if I think he's either going to be the kind of guy where some team gives him a one-year offer. That's really bit like a twenty million dollars for a year. Somebody's going to offer him that once the free agent Market, starts to walk uphill, get something like that or he's going to sign on with the team that can help him win. Right now. I think that's that's what we're going to see and we're going to see him sign on for like a mid-level exception..

"And then I think for owners, that's a little scary, if you're if you are a Milwaukee team that is valued at less than a billion dollars, like you can't afford to do this, you can barely afford the 3 stars, you're overpaying right now. Well, maybe Giannis is an overpaid but you know, the other two we just got off saying they're overpaid. So, I'm really scared at what's going to come and I'm like, I know I'm more naysayer at times. I'm really like I think we'll see a partial lock out actually. Yeah, well we were talking to Allen, you know, beforehand and we have conversations all the time on Twitter. Follow wheel of this stuff. We're all no doubt about the cap stuff, but we talk, you know, soft cat verse hard cap, and all that fun stuff for even no cap. And you know, you can get into that for record. You know, write a hundred page paper on that page. One of the one of the downsides to the soft cap and I'm a huge fan of the soft cap. And I know a lot of people hate it, but one of the downsides of softcap, just once you get over it, you're kind of forced to do things. So you look at the Jewish holiday contract. Look at Mike Conley with Utah. So you know all the street from a jazz fan perspective because I'm a jazz fan my column. So the Jazz are already over the luxury-tax there about three or four million over and this is before they say might, so I think they pay my college, that's their tax bill basically and there's nothing. And so if my calling leaves, the Jazz will have, you know, a five million Emily to replace them. There's nothing stopping Mike Conley from walking into Ryan's office and going hey you give me a full 35% that cap..

"That that's a very, very unique situation and they have this cap space to Summer, they were the team talking about Ian as a Rudy gobert to come play next to Luke up, you know, stud Defender. Obviously honest is a two-time MVP in Rudy's not that offensive but they were looking to get that top, 15 top twenty player off worse and then they all extended. And so, now they're sitting there with, you know, good chunk of cap space, 25 million Jewish this summer, but do they want to let Tim Hardaway, Jr? Go just to sign a guy like Mike Conley, Georgia, Really know. So they're just in such a bind where their cap space is kind of fake because once you take into account, the players, they lose to use it. It's neutral at best and they've got to figure it out because we've seen time and time again with those second contracts. You look around the league, Anthony Davis, current any towns just kind of the current one where it's so hard to build around players on their second contracts..

"Extend of sports. And next we meet As sabers might have made of playing for the future. We'll see and executed, said plan. Sure, sure, we might, uh You see the you know, some sort of Chart charted none charted territory. I will say this about you know, we've talked a little bit about saber today. I, uh It's like when you're at the South Pole. Every single direction you can step is North. That's kind of where they are. Why was Are you sure we should go that way, like I don't know, But it's north. You know, no matter where they go there in 31st the draft and 30, you know, first again. Own power. And somebody tell me about own power yesterday, but good, good player who was it that was talking about? Oh, my brother in law. He's athletic trainer of Ohio State hockey team. Nice talked about having seen power, like really impressed by him and just Yeah. So any, I will take any a positive vibe about any potential player that the that the Sabres maybe getting. That's where I will allow positivity into my life. Yeah. Otherwise, I don't want to hear any more positivity. I'm just I'm in the basement. I'm in the cellar. It's dark down here. Well, here's here's something I'll tell you, Nate. It's positive that own power is going to go back to school after this year. I think I agree. He's leaning towards reportedly, he said. He's leaning towards more going back to school for another year. Which is a good thing for him. And the Sabres should allow him to go back to school. To allow him to the saber should want him to go back, right? Yes, I think they should. I think they shouldn't press him. I think they shouldn't push him to the NHL. I think it's a matter of let him go back to Michigan Play another year on a powerhouse program that Michigan is going to have this upcoming year. Let him continue to kind of get acclimated to his size grow into his body. And hopefully after this year and maybe after a long playoff run in the N C double a tournament He'll come out and he'll be as close to as ready as he can be for the NHL level. But like people that are freaking out about him going to college, or, you know just anything about this draft class and like, Oh, this is the No. This is not the worst draft class that it's seen. It's a good, very good draft class, especially in the top 10. The only difference is there's just no player that really stands out as like that. Top Ranked caliber type of player now know Alexa LaFraniere? No, Jack Hughes. Really, Uh, even those guys are not on the level of like the top top ones. Those those were years where we? Yeah, There's a number one. It's still not a Crosby. McDavid's Alright skin kind of year. Yeah, right. I mean, like Owen powers, not hyped as Aaron Act. Blood was coming out of the drafted Aaron Ekblad was NHL ready as a 17 year old. It seemed like Whereas Owen power Yeah, he'll he can go back and get one more year of college and it will do him that much better instead of him jumping into the NHL right right away and trying to get acclimated that way, I think that the college route for him, it's just that much better. Maybe maybe who plays for them next year, though? Yeah, right. Where do they finish? Hmm? Good question. Probably. So I would because it would draft rules. What happened? Bottom five. They can They qualify for the moment. Pick next year. Yeah, they can. Okay? Yes, they actually No more than two times number one in a five year span. This, would I. This one doesn't even count. It doesn't count. It starts next year. So again, the NHL the Sabres could get it three years in a row, Exactly, man. And then everybody will be in up in arms. Like Oh, come on the Sabres one again. I like how the NHL made this rule. They're like It's too drastic to put it right away, you know? Hey, you know what they could do to solve it? You get rid of the draft lottery lottery. That's right. You could Need more drawings. I agree. Just generally in life. I think we need more drawings. How about how about a super draft? The NHL just says you know what? Everybody is a free agent. Now we're gonna have a super draft. Well, that would be fun. They should try at one time. It's fun in video games. Yeah, it's super Fund it Islam video do it. Um Euro 2020 scoreless between who's playing right now Slovakia and Scott, No. Sweden, Sweden and Slovakia scoreless England and Scotland later today. Yeah. Kemba Walker got traded to Oklahoma City. What the heck, huh? That was a weird one. Or you got to take on that. The 16th pick. I saw four. Uh, they traded Kemba Walker and the 16th. Okay, and the 16th back to Oklahoma City. And they got Al Horford who they thought was too expensive and then signed with Oklahoma City, and now they're taking him in that big contract that he signed. They also got really weird brown in that trip to right, right? Yeah. Sure, sure, Right. That's how I feel. Yeah, I don't know. MBA is fun right now, though, in the playoffs, uh, there's some fun basketball happening. Yeah. And what have you been watching any? Yeah. Oh, yeah. I watched last night. I watched Game six, um, of them Boxing? Yeah, Bucks. And that's yep. Yep. And tonight you've got Talks and PS Game six. And what a collapse that could potentially beyond for both the Jazz and for the Sixers. So if the Sixers lose tonight, the game seven Um I expect the six years to lose. I think I'm I think I'm actually pulling for the Hawks a little bit. Uh, the Hawks win it. They win the series. No, I thought I thought the six years were up. Atlanta Atlanta Some 32. Is that right? Wow, I'm behind the times. No kidding. Yeah, That's what made that collapse for. Yeah, Yeah. Holy cow. Um And the Jazz up to nothing, and now they're down 32. Without come, But, uh, not Kemba Walker. Uh, Leonard, they lost to a CO I Leonard are no co I Leonard and they let Paul George score all over them, who just has done nothing in the playoffs, so Yeah, you guys are on and they don't like. Isn't Mike Conley hurt, too? They've got Mike Conley has hurt. Yeah, I was really rooting for like a sons and Hawks final, So there's still hope for that. I think the sons might be maybe the most fun team in basketball. Sure they're fun is help Chris, Chris Paul waiting to see if he gets clear. I think that I think he'll be cleared by Game one. They're not going to keep them out too much money to be made. Alright. Well, enjoy the weekend. I shall give him the golf course. Yeah, I'll go later. "On the first night without the Nuggets or Avalanche remaining in the playoffs. Two games in the NBA one in the NHL. Tonight. Give you some important betting information. Sixers favored by 3.5 tonight against the Atlanta Hawks as they look to go up 31 in that series. The over under tonight is to 25 a half Far as the over undergoes. Two of the three games in this series have hit the Over. Both teams identical five and three against the spread in the playoffs. Philly has won the last two against the spread. Atlanta has lost the last two. I think, um I think this is going longer than people give it credit for I I think that the Hawks win tonight and even it up. It might be a situation where they even it up tonight and then go to Philadelphia gets smacked around and then Philadelphia finds a way to, uh when in Atlanta again. But at least take the Hawks plus the point at home. That's where I'll go with. The late game tonight. Jazz at the Clippers Clippers, favored by 4.5, as they look to even up the series over under for this game is slightly lower than the Sixers Hawks. At 2 23.5, Utah. Has only failed to cover once in the last seven playoff games that they played. So there As far as betting goes, have been rolling here. Uh, the but of course. What was the last game? What was the one that they lost against the spread the last game? Where the Clippers kind of whipped him. In Game three. Clippers. As you know, I've been pretty up and down in these playoffs 54 and one against the spread. Two of the last three games. Two of the three games I should say in this series I've had the over Um I don't believe in the Clippers. Now we have to. I gotta see Mike Conley. Where's Mike Conley. Right? Check on his status. I bet we don't know yet, but Just check just in case. Um, he's missing the game tonight. Not ideal, but I will still go with The Jazz tonight. Plus the point You may not win. I'll take him plus the point even without Mike Conley, But I'm sure my calmly being out may move that line a little bit before tip off late tonight. I just think that the Jazz are the better team with or without my Conley. Donovan Mitchell. Is, um Like It's so weird that we're having a conversation around. I say we It's not we, it's them. National media is having this conversation about Donovan Mitchell now turning into a superstar. It's like, Well, wait a minute. What was last year in the bubble. I thought that was what was said about him after him and Jamal went shot for shot. Just think Nuggets fans. He could have been been on this. Now it gets team And then, of course, we got the NHL. The Canadians are in Vegas for Game one of their series. You could hear it. Here on extra sports 1300 starting at seven. Vegas is a goal and a half favorites. Montreal plus 1 94 on the money line over under his 5.5. In this game, and here we go again with the rest versus rust thing, but it's not. It's not quite as pronounced. In this series. Vegas has had a few days off What 123 days off, But Montreal is just been sitting there for Week. So we'll see. I think Vegas is rested enough. We saw this in Game one against the avalanche, like they were having a game seven. Hangover, I think attributed to it. Especially when you look at the way the rest of the series went. You have to Give Vegas at least that level of respect that maybe they weren't um Totally up for Game one after such a quick turnaround. Mhm. I think Vegas is much better. The Montreal is, I thought that the avalanche were much better than Montreal is, but Every time I say something negative about Montreal carry price stands on his head. And the Canadians win games. Don't want to bring up rock. I don't want to say they have a rock Tober field to him because we need to stop using that. Incorrectly. Produced So we're all aware here. October is a negative thing. Right? It has a negative connotation. October means it's a team that is playing well above its head. And going on a tremendous run. It's not real, though. Like rock Tober. Wasn't real. The Rockies. Weren't that good like we all We're on the same page with that right? I think we use rock Tober sometimes to just just describe any team that's on a crazy run. It's like, well, no It's any team on a crazy run that we think is not nearly this good. So I don't want to say that Montreal's on a rock Tober like run because I think Montreal is a good hockey team. I just don't think there's good as Vegas. And the sports books agree with me because you can't even get decent odds on Montreal, plus a game and a half. Alright. Excuse me, Vegas. Um Minus a game and a half. You get great payoff If you take Montreal, plus a game and a half as sports books are looking for this thing to wrap up Fairly quickly..

The Utah Jazz extend their Home Game win streak

"Took advantage of a depleted Brooklyn Nets team to run the home win streak to 17 games with the 1 18 88 victory. Nets without all stars Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving and the Jazz wasted no time jumping to a 21 point first quarter lead. Donovan Mitchell led Utah with 27 points. We've had instances um in my time here where we've played, you know differently because guys have been out, you know, and I think tonight really showed the mental fortitude we had throughout the entire game to contain it, Toe. Keep your foot on the pedal. Boy, Um Bogdanovich and Mike Conley and at 18 points apiece for the Jazz, while Alyssa Johnson, making the most of a 10 Day contract led the Nets with 23 points and 15 rebounds. I'm Jim Bernard.

"And then maybe that's not really the case and as a result. It's going to be a reason why they're not going to get past the first round out for instance. Now the other the other players are fine. I don't think the offense is doing them a lot of favors like generating easier to make them more shots. You know, we have the Mike Conley issue. He's okay at this point his career, but he's not I don't think he's the guy who's going to get them, you know, the next level either but again, there is a culture with the Jazz and it kind of player they like in the way they respect the game and those kind of things and certainly Conley and and gobert and not have a Mitchell they all you know Ingles they all you know are part of that Jordan Clarkson. So, you know, there's so many be said for them. Sort of building that having that together, but the bottom line for me is it's like, you know Rudy gobert you could pay somebody half as much and get 85% of that production easy. And that's what Jesus the basketball games and so, you know, I know they want to reward him but they probably ultimately made a mistake with that deal because they're going to be saddled with that for a number of years and and they're not going to get past wage are now which is again could very well be their goal that could be fine for them. But that's going to cause issues of insurance friction with Donovan Mitchell who wants to probably win they all want to win but he might realize that you know with the way this roster is constructed. There's not a lot of leeway to do move moves and he might want to get out of there now the Mitchell might not be the man either, you know, he's a a bit of an unbaptized and sort of shooting guard who has struggled with shot selection and and being able to sort of, you know, shoot at a higher percentage, but at his best, you know, he is grey dog..

"Night a dramatic game seven there's nothing quite like a game seven John Man they almost blew it to Denver would be. Getting, absolutely hammered today had Mike Conley hit that shot Yup and he didn't miss a by much it rimmed out. Yeah. The the nuggets one I, think it was eighty to seventy eight was really those eight, hundred, seventy, eight, but. At the end of the game, they stole the ball from Utah Up to. And then Denver inexplicably shoots the ball. Yeah. Like all they had to do was dribbled out in the game was over eight seconds left they shoot the ball and. Utah immediately grabs the rebound, sends it down and Mike Conley takes a three two, win the game and it comes out so. All had to do was run out the clock. Yeah. Congratulations to the Denver Nuggets they have won a trip to get pounded by the clippers in the next hounded by the clippers clippers and five clippers five. Wow. I'll go clippers and six Denver got a couple again I. Think your mom worries got a couple of games them couple of a couple of big ones.
