"He's not what people think of them. I've got a lot of respect for my charles. Martin told me before he full anthony. Josh way he was having threesomes in hotel room or even before himself who had the time yet so he was obviously ill advised and obviously made some money. Because i know he comes from from a not so great. Bring in background. So when a guy's got money and he's just been given to him. You kind of need the right people around you. In the right advice. He obviously had the wrong team. And the wrong advice around. But listen to me. charles martin. Confide he's big balls he's got tremendous black south over and and he confide charles. My cannot not people out with that left. do i think you can beat the onto. This is a huge possibility. You could outbox him but the roads are not either fuck out in a split second and i totally agree totally agree man definitely. Don't think he's done. But do you. The martin fight as his comeback fight off at tyson fury loss. Yeah yet is is probably the out definitely. Won't watch it. Because i think the pair of and can knock each other out as i say martin is judged on getting cleaned out by antony joshua knows toronto. I've seen him up close and personal. I've seen him spar. And he ruis and literally toy. Rebound you release. Trust me toy with him in sparring. They're not. Nobody's looking to do with me. So i can say whatever. I call a time to charles martin. He's he's a lot better than what people give him. Credit for charles. Martin do you mind or do you like the fact that the rumor is. This should be for an eliminator for the ibs which would put him or the winner in position to phase joshua sometime i guess in the next Twenty four months. And i think the winner of the fury joshua fights. Because i suspect there's going to be two fights. I think the wind will go on to have another year or so and have a face. Hopefully fight joe use it went on. I think the loser will retire. So i think you lose twice and then again one of them could be each other. Once you could end up having a third. The belts could be confronted. So you don't know the situation is going to be. But i've no problem with charles martin against the until i think it's good. I think he's an interesting. Fight is an intriguing to see because some dante wildest strange interviews teams to me like if you if you didn't know him anywhere he's kind of he's gone to lally and i don't want that to happen to him because i think he's excellent for heavyweight. Boxing's is the way you speak to me. He makes you believe in what he says for. I wanna see to stop talking. Stop moaning and do what you're good at and and start knocking people out again. Yeah i i definitely want to see them back in the ring so as far as a tyson. How long do you think before we get an announcement and are you a bit sad that that won't be in wimbley with one hundred thousand. Should they wait to get massive crowds or just do it The fight as i say. I'm close to people that revolt in the fight. But i'm i'm i know tyson very well i mean i know ties him very well but i'm not asking him because it's not my business i'm just gonna aren't waiting to find for that fight to be and to be honest mike concentration on joe versus colleagues on the sick. That's my that's my my business. But i'm waiting to find like you guys. I'm told the announced as close. There's a few things out but it's a great fight for boxing and going back to what you said about. Dm the should it be in wembley. Yes he morally. Yes it should be every stadium. Yes but i would rather the fight happens then. It doesn't happen all because people up on the stand box in is not like any of the sport. These guys will be asked if fall in wembley even if it was a full stadium that would still take less money it a lot less money than it would be to somewhere like the middle east so i don't give a shit happens as long as they're on get in the ring and on the world can see it side yes that it's not wembley because it should be the boys boys designed to end as much maximize that earning earning potential walks into the different sports. Not like football. Or american football english premier league football racing formula one or two guys punching each over in the face looking to do serious harm to each other. They need to win as much money as as as as they possibly can. And i've got no problem with it personally. Now what would you want to see. Would you want The tyson fury. Anthony joshua undisputed. Or do you want the wbo to strip them and allow sick and joyce to fight for that bell. Basically if joe joyce ucla fight. Which i believe they will we. We're we're in talks. Our team s jon boats are in talks with queensberry frank warren. And we're all talking. If that happens it'll be for the interim world title so what i would imagine what happen is if joshua fury have the undisputed fought on rightfully so cause them to guys both deserve to have that tie to. The winner deserves to become champion. Yeah i agree with that. I mean as as a boxing fund. So the winner of that fight. I believe will then be forced to vacate the bill and then the winner joy us fight the. I'm just speculating. Here would be elevated to full champion and rightfully so that joyce against houston is a worthy heavyweight world title in my honest opinion. I'm not just being biased. The first fight between a fury definitely deserves to be for the undisputed title. Definitely is good for boxing. So i wanted to get your predictions on jared anderson versus your guy. Kingsley i beth man what do you think is going to happen in that fight and was gonna happen. I knew the i is going to happen. And i'm not form going to say. I'm not going to make excuses. Because guido was poor in that fight he was really bad after the find. No excuse knows how has been suffering bad. He's is build. I don't know if you saw my instagram near the day. Our our company instagram. He's had blobs of calcium likely is growing on his elbow. Really struggling struggling guido. There's no excuse for that for ebay to do. It was a draw. I would have to run the fight jared anderson. I expect to be him or it won't be easy. Because i saw jerry anderson calling china call do glory enjoys. He's going quiet since that ally jared understand. I'm a big. I looked at everything. This kid's like he's aggressive for boy you you need to beat someone with a with a post before you start calling out. Joe joyce kerry. Joyce will do some horrible things to that so he he needs to to to serve apprenticeship before he starts talking people like joe joyce i'm giving them a as as as advice fascinates dirt under cities young guy. He's taken on. He and i wish him. All the best i wanted to win is good for boxing. I want i would like to see them win. Now would your the statement you just made. Would that change in in terms of like him. Wanting joe joyce if he went in there and walk through earth no you don't you. Don't get to fight. Joe joyce chris you what kingsley cans the bay appear in the bottom left and you know why i'm asking because it's like if you think he's gonna struggle if he white wipes through him then. You should be impress. No i'm impressed. You can be i. It doesn't you can't beat that the ibay expect to jump the queue ease. He's got to serve apprenticeship. I got beats some people of note. It's like tonio. The only thing he's done in boxing so far this made headlines this is is miss for drug tests and he's trying to call out. Joe joyce writes no way yoga's and beaten in some do sam what's going on what's that he's beat some guys..

Women's sports because fellas can can compete in them now more than one hundred. Protesters gathered sunday night to demand justice. Well that's a hell. Avoid to describe it after stunning video footage went viral showing a police vehicle vehicle surrounded by pedestrians speeding through the crowd and appearing to drive over. Several people in tacoma in washington state. Long story short. They're having a sideshow their dozens and dozens and dozens of people in vehicles. They're impeding traffic in a cop came across this and was pulling his vehicle up to see what was going on and the crowd saw surrounded him began yelling pounding on the vehicle. This cop is afraid for his life. Quite appropriately tries to pack up than drives forward and runs over several people in to my mind clearly saving his life. But of course the That enraged some people legitimately and also brought the attention of antiga who they understand. If there's any anger let's go there. The cover of the legitimate maybe misguided but the real protesters they will give us cover to smash and burn and they did smash and burn and do a tremendous amount of damage in beautiful tacoma washington. Where my daughter has live And if you find coverage of this at all it makes it clear that the police with utter disregard to the lives and liberty people just now. They're running people over in the streets but it was another in. There have been several situations like this. I remember at one point to california highway patrol officer. Who had to save his life by driving through crowd but of course they They used it as an excuse to to smash and burn out of come up with a national idea of how to handle this right because if you can if you can immobilize a cop by standing in front of his car that's a drag him out of the car and beat them to death. That's a problem. Yeah absolutely yeah. The truth is in the other hand. Obviously don't want cops running over protesters well right but you know. This writer describes it. The truth is in today's climate a mob of individuals running up and blocking your car and attempting to bust out. Your windows should make you extremely concerned for your safety. So whether you're that's true whether you're tacoma police officer a senior citizen at portland or citizen driving to the grocery store. Reginald denny suffered a fractured skull and permanent speech. Terrible injuries during the la riots for the crime of his truck being in the wrong place in these white man but widely common sense. "I was actually just on vacation and stopped in to talk to a cousin and i guess in one conversation everything just kind of clicked together from the previous twenty years like i The idea of working for myself was always very daunting. Because i didn't know where to start. I didn't know what to sell. I did not to sell to Or having engaged the market and in one conversation. This relative just kind of collapsed. Everything you just said you know you go. There's tons of farmers markets just go to farmers markets. is easily. Yeah just applying the light right and As long as you have something that may which do. And then. I really really quickly saw cost of goods and what the market will bear. And then once you figure out that disparity that that gap it becomes really really ease white. I if i just do the work to put these things together and then it becomes a kind of an automatic when you do x y z. And then you have is In presented to people and have a good conversation makes people laugh and money changes hands so district twenty years up to that twenty years up to that it had been getting preached to by sales managers them like dissecting sales process and making it very technical. And that's what. I always had a problem with up until that moment when i was just let go to do. I'll say i think that's like a lightbulb moment for you. How much though did your experiences some of the things you learned in university. What have you was able to transfer over into your. Hey honey now into your business. Now the guy. I wish you could have like seen my face during this conversation because literally twenty years plus my school it all came together in like half an hour. Everything just totally compressed. It's kinda meshed all into now. I can use it. It'd be everything and at least my university. My school of finance was mike concentration in my papers were on bond valuation of an asset valuation. Outta look at something and say all right. It's it costs this Or but the value of the cumulative is acts and you drive that from the elements but that all very.

"After an hour into the podcast. Guess a this week. We're really feeling in the music pit. So you have had a lot of good fights over the past week. Glad to say the majority of people seem to be in there and be safe and that's always a great thing. They went they entertained. Some people got paid and got their money. Thank you to them for putting their lives. Their families live their health. Everything on the line to entertain us. So that's first and foremost We'll go to the Wednesday fights which was UFC. Jacks on twitter. Ufc Jacksonville and main card. One thing I want to touch on I guess this went to start off with is. I don't know how good Michael Johnson is the hardest fighter to figure out because even in this fight this past week he looked really good in the first round and then came out. I'm like a spider monkey and tapped him in twenty. Five seconds yeah. I don't know what Michael Johnson is. He's going to go down as one of the most just frustrating fighters in emmy history. I agree like Michael Johnson put hands on could be people and then got washed. Michael Johnson put hands on just engaging hurdle then he got washed Michael Jackson careers utterly ridiculous because he was on the ultimate fighter He looked like he was one of those men he gets. On a nice little run it could be titled attended. Then you look at his record. This is Larry's because he's before. Just engage the last. I could beat. I mean Tony Ferguson. Yes let's go over real quick. This this is this is great so he beat Tony Ferguson. He Beats Dan Cassio. Lose the miles jury. He loses the raise them a daddy he those. Ib about these glory he. It's Barbosa loose. What a good run loose dare. Us lose the he knocks out dust emporium which got him. The fight could be loose. Usually just gauging loosens there. These are J. Feeley Autumn Lobe of loses to Josh Emmett. Stevie Ray stagich noises. What the fuck is this record? But the wins against some quality keeping employees. He beat dust emporia. He beat it's Darcy. He beat Tony Ferguson. And he loses the Stevie Ray Josh. Emmy got knocked down the damage he lost Darren Elkins man. He put hands on just to gauge. You look at this band's record and I'm like I don't know who this guy is you know it's the ultimate Dr Jekyll. Mr Hyde and is not like you can point to Joe. He gets out of shape for this fired or he doesn't this this fighter Mike concentration for a while. There's no rhyme or reason to why he wins away loses just it's pure a flip of the coin. Let's it's never bet on Michael Johnson. Fight you anything just got mopped up. I mean they didn't get up. You got rolled up real quick to he'll super-quick and then this began. What was like the triumph of the old man so Andrea Lobski cheers? Now the club the wife to bring me another one. Andrea loss goes the distance in wins in. I thought was probably the most boring performance. Maybe I don't like heavy on the distance. Nobody does heavyweights on distance. No next right after. That was ricky cycling. Ray boringly on the Fleet Lens. Rj fight all Lobski wins His payday was like three hundred and ten thousand. He was one or two eighty one of the higher paid players on this car. Philippi land won the PF L. and win a million dollars. Got Eight grand for this. Fight pays eighty grants not back. But I'm just saying Emmy pay scales fucked up fucked up like I just made a million dollars in funding for eighty grand during fucking pandemic. It's crazy craziest thing. Is everyone ranked above our Lobski? That saw him beat Lens. Like you'll warren I fighting over there. 'cause we all should be getting a billion dollars and this is the best they had for. Millie it's GonNa take me three years to get a million it's crazy anyway. Continue so now is wild. We had drew winning versus Alexander Hernandez which I think is the bloody fight right well. Elkins fight was really bloody last night. But this number was Judo trained with just engaging donors a guy that a lot of people and maybe can make some noise. Not ranking lightweight. Deficient I was under Hernandez was a guy who looked like he was run and then he got stopped by Donald Running. So this was one of those fights to fighters that could be going the other way and then dober- just went in there and just put hands on Hernandez in the second round. Finish them dovers now player lightly and good looking GonNA fight. It was entertaining. I mean dopers a guy again. He's one of those guys who look at we watch and fighting. He's one of those guys. I WANNA call him Robbie lawler type but he has hands like that preview takedown defense. He go on a nice little run and make some noise. Don't know feeling when he's one of those guys. Yes when don't let the record ya he might just be hitting his stride a little later in a ton of experience whenever you get thirty one fights. Something's GonNa Click against the guy who came into this head thirteen fights so it's a world of difference and then in the Co main Ben Rothwell overtake Pru. Same moved up the heavyweight for some reason and looked so sluggish. No explosion. No nothing I. I don't know why he moved up. I don't know why. Look so heavy and just whack on his feet and then to me. I didn't think he did anything to deserve decision. I saw some people say those clothes didn't think it was close. It was I think it was close because he hurt Rothwell in the second and he clearly won the third it was just ugly brand of it was always with been campaigning at light heavyweight. But he's been cutting weight hard for a long time and what his during a pandemic he was like. Fuck this. I'm not come. Why Not Heavyweight Division that you look at and you're like two or three fights. I'm going to get a title shot that like light heavyweight where everybody's been beat by John Jones so I get. Why did it just yes? Fight wasn't wasn't great to watch. Yeah wasn't and then we get into the main event and that was the opposite. It wasn't great. It was a battle and then you look and between Rothwell Orlovsky and then here Gloria Shera. Oh man strength Israel yes First foremost before you start bringing on his fight. Dominick Cruz washes fight cursing out TV. This oh Oh oh we can just throw jazz on twitter. Great job rough man this revenue in a great job leading back die ridiculous all right entity. Smith had all the chances in this fight inches. He didn't look the same going into this one. Or maybe glovas. You're still that 'cause go ver. I mean what loss John Jones loss Pull up his record now. It should empty Andy Smith. He beat him. Beat Krylov Be Roberson. He hasn't lost since win. Twenty Eighteen Corey Anderson. That's the my decision. That's fine Mr. the Global Sarah Think Survey by Remembers Four John Jones to share. Had One light twenty two in a row. Something crazy like that. The longest active winning streak in Alabama say might have been intimate at the time then. He lost the John. Like if you look at his lost aside from Corey Anderson. He Davis Rumble Johnson and into ghost. Pretty fucking good. Yeah but I think a lot of that's a lot of people looked at the Kreil fight which was a split decision and some with a loss in the gas and look old and he wrote them off. I thought this was going to beat him but then over. I don't I mean strategy wires. Brilliant just anthony just know everything he had just all right cool so you got in beetle breaks off. Oh you do. There's some fights where I watch him when I go. I used to fighting chance at the end around three. I was like Nah. This shit is over this thing. Five rounds like almost almost went the distance. There's it shouldn't have gone past for. Let's whose fault is. This is the referee's fault no the the ref gave the fighter shades and the fighter to his credit anthony in each round found a way to cover up just enough right like he did enough to grab a Florida covers at or try to stand up and he was badly so I understood that logic his corner as soon as he comes to them and says I am losing teeth not veneers. They don't like he nears they pop out. Sometimes it training know he was losing actual teeth. Once he says that fights Don I know and they acted like they didn't even hear it and chill sodden so one of the best things I heard about. This is like a corners. Job Isn't to stop the fight when their fighter can no longer physically compete. Their job is to stop the fight when their fighter no longer has a chance to win and in the third round midway to turn around you could see. He no longer had a chance to win. So by the fourth at least entering the fifth he was not going to land some crazy. Last-second Derek Lewis DOE that ship from hip earn a knockout or like we saw roses shrug versus Versus the ovary where he lands six seconds left splits over his lip and gets victory after being skunked earlier and fight. You weren't GonNa get that. He didn't have that in the tank. Save him and I don't think he's corner. Did that but then again the week before I I champion just engaged for saying I told my corner before this fight. Don't stop it. I'm willing to die in there. So do I know. But if I'm the corner my job is not let you die in that. You're just GONNA have to be mad. I rather you be mad at me than White. Be Mad at me. That's always my mindset. So I'm going to stop this. Yeah so that might say is similar because it was absolutely the coroner's fault because this was a complete disregard reading the room and knowing your fighter because you're thinking you anything Smith like you've worked with for a long time but you do also know when you're like when you're asking them questions and responses like I'm losing teeth. He's not even fired up. He's getting mopped in there. It's not like it's not like roses struck fight over. It was winning a kickboxing match. And you're like well shit. One Punch continues to fight. He was exhausted more than anything else was nothing on those punches. Nothing so I can understand. I even understand to a degree coming out with the fourth round and them not stopping in the fourth round. But as soon as to the corner at the end of the fourth round. You Wave Lifeline. Because that you're not GonNa win the fight but you man is now. He's not taking. This is almost Tony Ferguson. Like to a degree. Thank off for her because they want to stop the FERGUS. Fight either servicing. You could argue is getting beat up almost worse than Anthony Smith was almost mandate loses cold grill. But Yeah I've saying Dan you save. I'm saying so mercifully. Dean stopped that fight. This why was not getting stopped at a certain point as the corner. If the referee's not going to do your job for you saving your fighter.

"Hi guys as we chat. which about sex twitter spinner beer out? I was at three seventy four Sarah. Hello Suzie how are you. I'm doing so well. You have a glow about not a pregnancy agency saying no more like an love glow. Yeah Love Glow yes. It's the real deal man. It's Nice it's the best I got. Yeah and I have met this clown. You've of not met him but him but you are going to really like him okay. Well telling him that he he already listened to the podcast show. Hi ran listener listener guy. Here's the deal. You have to like act excited and interested when I tell you the exact same story out because I only have so much material Well I want to hear. It's almost like getting a sneak peek. Before and then we can talk about it. Yes he he likes to listen you laughing avalon. Oh Gosh probably like tall enough to wear. When I could stand we stand next to each other and I rest my head on his shoulder like like fit right in that little nook shoulder and the news? Five eleven yeah five and six feet. Yeah Okay yes well if you ask me yeah yeah. It's a good idea. Perfect pretty much. Perfect everything my I had to push record because she was about to launch into like all the things she loves by. Yeah I know I don't have all day right. We got we got. We're but my first story that I have to bring you relates to that okay so researchers did a study. It's is one of those things where like I love these studies on stuff. We absolutely not true. But here's the study. So this article says dating deception exception when sex is on our mind lying comes naturally really yes I I wouldn't have said I knew really when when sex is on our mind we you are more likely to lie so imagine your on a first date with somebody. Yeah and you recognize like you're like yeah. I would definitely like to do it with them. Or maybe you know however many. It's the first day we've just met you've met this person you're like real turned on your more likely to lie about things that you're interested in things that you like the things about yourself in order to basically get laid. I'm shocked okay. I mean I guess the first date part is what you you say about how we yeah. We have a representative that we've bright a table. That's not exactly us. It's like a polished version. So that would make you more likely to lie. Yes but I like the horny component. I did not imagine. So here's how they did it so they the researchers were looking at what did they do. It was three hundred twenty eight women and three hundred. Six men took part in the study and they were divided into groups and one group was exposed exposed to sexual stimuli before interacting. Yeah and one was not And so before they like meat for the date or whatever they see something that makes them sexually aroused. Yeah the people who were primed with Steph. That made them sexually aroused lie lied. It's almost like that sexually. System was already activated and their mind needed to do that do you. Do we know what they lied about. Yes unnamed part that I think is real interesting so one of the things that they looked at was sexual partners. How many sexual partners you had okay? And we're more likely to downplay the number and lie. Why make it lower to look not promiscuous Chiswick? No Man men and women get out Yes to downplay the number of sexual partners partners we've had okay and then This one I thought was real interesting and probably like the most Detrimental to future successes in a relationship. Okay so it's almost like if you're really turned on your first date and you lie about some of these things. Chances are good that the relationship will will start on on not the right foot really Dan. 'cause you're lying about kind of important things so they asked they. They gave him these surveys before with questions like to. What extent does it bother you to date someone who's messy and and they were ranked? No you can't live that yep participants who had been exposed to to set a sexual image. Were more likely likely to confirm to their tastes to that of the individual they were about to chat with and in many scenarios. Those taste directly contradicted. What they had originally recorded in the initial questionnaire guys? Yeah that's that's fine with me. I don't Mind Matt. I like. That's fine weight because you're looking at. Let's do devil's advocate. Okay okay how do we know. They didn't lie on the sheet I mean good question but like where are you more likely because groups the ones who were primed with the sexual stimuli and the ones who weren't yeah so they both responded then probably looked at the average score comparing similar answers. I don't think that works though because I don't it may be. They lied on both in the other group. I should be like well. Everybody's the data's is wrong and everybody is probably lying at either side. I don't think that that is wrong. I think that it could. There could be more of this story or to it but probably probably not. Don't you feel like so. This is funny like when you were younger. Maybe like I feel like when I was younger. I definitely pretended to be more. Do Right I will tell you like. I've lie about stuff in I think in my brain what I just lie about that. You're so funny it's embarrassing well. And I'm in this place in this new relationship where I have to like reiterate that I am not lying about it just so you know I totally said it. I was like this is the music I like like. I am not just saying that because like this is what I like to do on the weekend. I'm not just saying that because I'm trying to agree in fact nobody else personal high on this one might think you were lying though because yours. So I'm your different kind of person and you're so expressive and enthusiastic. I could see how someone would be like. There is no way surreal. I know I really like that all the same same like and now I've gotten to the point and the age where I'm like. I don't WanNa lie anymore. "Next will hear about Robert Laxa, the son of a Basque sheepherder who went on to become a prominent Nevada author? He was also the younger brother of former Nevada governor and US Senator Paul lack salt. He was born and immigrant could in tiny hospital tourists California. Whereas mother two years before the wealthy young wife, the young buck up and coming Basque rancher with one hundred thousand acres spread was cooking in the camps. After the sheep crash of Nate nineteen twenty one he grew up often scrappy incursion city, where she had moved her family, for some semblance of stability, buying a house, and forcing his kids to learn English. That's when family grew Tate turned inward, grew clannish basketball weren't festival. Then they were extended immigrants with old country ways in a Protestant world, Roussel excellence word is important to know that in that process, the first language of Pawlak salt, and Bob lax was bask, these were little immigrant kids and these folk Basque and they were made fun of by the other kids in town, who couldn't figure out what vast was. And Mother Teresa. Decided that they should become Americans and learn English and be good Americans mob, graduated from the university of Nevada and one thousand nine hundred forty five he. He developed a little news services on capitol news service in Carson city. But then he signed on what the United Press and for five years, he developed themselves as German reporter. He then always wanted to write. He founded the university of Vata press. And then he wrote a best selling book called sweet promised land, and that really got him launched sweet promised land was his first book and thinking fifty four. Bob, lax halt took his Father, Dominique lag salt to the best country. The. Sheepherder father and always talked about going home to the best country. But he never really did it turns out, he probably didn't really want to. Bob'll attic salt and his brothers conspired to have the old shaper go home and see the country he'd come from. And so Bob accompanied him. And when they got there, they all shaper came to realize they real sweet plummets land of their life was not the old Basque country was the Carson valley and share Nevada, where he immigrated above told that story in sweet promised land. Think you go to go to the reviewers the New York Times, all that they're just simply said that, that, that book, captured the heart of immigrant families as none other had done yet. In the United States if became an iconic book for the emmigration and it, and it became very famous, and it's time because a bit of a ripple effect for Bob Laxa, because he didn't know how to write a book when he started to do it. Black had been a United Press reporter in Reno bureau for five years, he covered executions and mob hits. By double shotgun. Barrel in LA's arena, when a mob, did the sort of thing, and he become a veteran reporter, but he decided he wanted to write this book about his father and didn't know how to do it. So Bob Laxa sat down, and he wrote any wrote any road, any couldn't figure it out. He didn't know if it was a biography of memoir. A novel. He never written a book. He knew he wanted to be a writer since it was very young. But he didn't know so we write a page the opening page. Crumpled up throw it in the wastebasket take another shot at it day after day, crumpled up wasn't good enough and. Then he wrote the words, he wrote my father was a sheepherder kala. And his home was the hill. Period and it took off the book. He unlocked, the creative process and the book just started to tell itself. And then it came out when Harper and row published it and it became this, this beautiful little book, so along. That is very heartfelt book about people all told through this old sheepherder, who gun home to the parents, as only to really learn that he was now an American. Paul was the older brother and because the Father Dominique was away in the mountains. Almost hermit like for many years. The mother Therese looked at Paul older, brother and said help, you know, you are the oldest so help with the family and so Paul became like a surrogate father, brother, two to three brothers and two sisters. Paul was recruited into politics, Pawlak, salt ran for Lieutenant governor and one, and then, subsequently ran for governor and won Pawlak salt after being governor step out of politics. He thought he'd had enough. So he went they built a hotel in Carson city family pulled together, then polacks changed his mind decided public life was what he should be doing. And he decided to run for the United States Senate Warren rude on. Robert Laxa, the writer younger brother at the former governor and Senator polacks anyone Iran against Harry Reid. The polls were down to the wire that Harry was gonna win and politics was not going to be able to pull it off. Harry was a very prominent politician at that time. And Paul stepped out of the public live. They polacks. Group of advisors came to the conclusion that there is one way to beat Harry Reid. Sweet promised land, and they looked at it and said, we need to bring out that book will flood the northern Nevada with copies of it, and that will reintroduce Pawlak salt, too. The voters of Nevada as the son of the Basque shape editor, Paul beat Harry Reid, very closely, and they all gave credit to this book that caused a bit of a problem. Bill Douglas, who is a very close friend of Bob black solves as about scholar himself, and told Bob, you really don't have a right to turn that book that belongs to the best people. But it does not belong as part of political thought her Delpierre brother, get elected, and Bob was very concerned about that. But the poll of his brothers the love for his brother, and that bass blood that they shared over rolled his own creative notions to keep that strictly as a piece of literature, which it was. And so he did afterward. They did publish the book and Paul won the race. Bob was well known through his literary writing. Well established. He wrote many books, and it was just he became an author, and that's what it is known for. But as early journalism was not widely known. There was no reason for it became much more famous author and I knew him from where he started as a reporter and. Mike concentration on that. Book was just tell how he became what he you became. Which is in Hemingway, Steinbeck, Jack London, Mark Twain tradition of reporters becoming authors. So I can't centrating that book of telling about Robert lack salt, and his journalistic career Hemingway said that the best literary advice he ever got was the Kansas City star style book. Right. Short punchy sentences used active verbs. Journalists who turn to. Authorship have that built into them as part of their DNA. They don't just suddenly flour and become something different. They become an extension of what they are. And they're storytellers who we like to say, journalism is literature in a hurry or like to say that it's history is happens because we tell it on breaking deadlines, and writers, who break in under those tensions of journalism. Pick that discipline with them into authorship when he died in two thousand and one. Six months before he died. He received word from the university of Nevada press that his manuscript about his writing life would be published. It was called travels with my Royal. The life of a writer writers life, once having decided back then to become a writer, I hadn't remotest idea what was all. Involved in a writing life, as a boy, just growing up into adulthood. I knew no writers, nor I ever read anything about the lives, they lead, I knew nothing about a writer, right? How a writer lives how much writer money, he makes where where a writer goes to find time to write about what makes this story and most important of all where and to whom a writer goes for enlightenment on as my questions, I was learning to answers to the years of growing up and the years that followed they came in a low slow and often painful process that never ended, I suspect, they will continue to come all of a writer's life until the day. He puts his pen down for the last time. Walgreens, discussing author Robert Vauxhalls. I look at the Reno literary community continues as we speak with author, Elliot Parker and Lieutenant governor Kate Marshall amount coming out of Nevada's, recent economic recession. So our book is called Nevada's great recession looking back moving forward. It's started because I used to write newspaper columns in the state of Nevada about what was going on with the state in that during the recession and those newspaper columns had a great thing. I had written, probably sixty or seventy of them. After she sat down as treasurer she and I started writing columns dozen together on sort of the theme that Nevada matters. And we would try to pick a subject. We thought really mattered for the future something. We had to deal with he obvious ones, education, infrastructure have budgets. How do you manage? How do you deal with poverty? It's such a difficult issue. Right. And so we would take these workforce. You know having a skilled workforce housing, we would take these issues and we go to coffee house. Right. So we go to a coffee house. And usually the way it would start is, I would write sort of detailed. Version of it with all the facts, right? But not find. And then Kate would take you know what I was doing, and then we talk about it, and we try to say, okay, what, what really we want to say here. What's the policy issues? I. Team. So it actually worked really, well as a lot of fun to write together when we were at that point. We had we'd gotten married in twenty fourteen so we are relatively new married. Couple, and yet this didn't create tension and actually was a lot of fun. Old mary. So we put and so, after we had done those, then we decided to put them into this book, and so they by themselves make up one of the chapters of the book, and we went back and took the some of the columns I've written before we wrote sort of an introduction that tied altogether. And then Kate would add these stories about what was going on in Vada. So while I'm writing this column are having this, this section about, okay, what's happening with the state budget. Kate was actually there watching the sausage be made. And she would tell a little story what we call the treasury vignette. And so that was to some extent, the best part of the book, write the stories that made it real Elliott Parker and Lieutenant governor Kate Marshall talking about the state efforts to. To come out of its most recent economic downturn. All.

"We're going to get to a topic here in just a minute. But there was a story that came out. And I read that the started the the construction on the north side close to the NBA project in there is some things about the way that they're selling the homes there that I'd never heard before it didn't make sense to me. So maybe you can put some context into it. If you know that area of expertise three eight hundred nine to five eleven twenty. Let's get to Stu who's calling in. Hey stew. What's going on? Hey, I can't hear you guys. I'm on I seventy near Columbus, Ohio. And you guys are coming in loud and clear I'm driving across country right now. Isn't that? Awesome. Yeah. What are you doing over there? I was I was in the military. And now, I'm driving after my my wound-care driving across country here on the east coast, and I'm turning rice back around and driving back out to California. Start my new job. So you're calling coast to coast. Yes, sir. How many hours is that in the car? Oh, man. I am in my truck and normally edge a lot quicker by driving just driving from Sacramento to Reno took almost nine hours because of the blizzards that were going on in this year. Nevada's worst time for that. Yeah. And then driving across Nevada on I eighty I was doing about forty miles an hour. And four wheel low for about three hundred miles. Oh, okay. Yeah. This is my window. And I've got to get out there. Get my gear and get back. Otherwise, I would have had a shifting what it was. It was just not cost effective is just so expensive. Well, it's kind of neat to go cross country. I like the idea of doing a long road trip. But you are you doing it by yourself? Oh, yes, sir. Wow. That's a long trip to be by yourself. Oh, yeah. During the whatever talk show radio. And I know I used to live in Brixton, and you haven't been there in like about twenty five years, and I stopped in there today and the man what a dumb. Yeah. Mandate batter. They tore everything out. There used to be a beautiful neighborhood. You're talking about by the airport when they sold that in. Yeah. That was there still people that have communities on Facebook talking about that. I've I've had people say that they lived in that area, and you can go online and talk to the people that would have been your neighbors. If you were in that spot. Okay. That don't really pan out all that. Well, the airports underutilized here. So it didn't really work out. Like the way they thought it would. Exactly. And I mean a. The sweets into my next point. I'm not a big fan of government control of anything. And I as one of my bosses used to say we in the military support democracies, but we aren't one and I understand that. But. Gelling into your conversation about vehicle inspections. I think or two. The reasons I left, Missouri. Was the fact that. I was getting taxed I I mean on everything. And if they wanna have vehicle inspections, they should they need to make it affordable and needs to be all inclusive. But I also then ties into the insurance industry that they have people have the opportunity then to have reduced rates. If they've got a good driving record and their vehicle inspected every year. I can see that. If you know if you want to go through the hassle of it for discount or not getting charged me. That's the way to do it. You know, what I'd be fine. If they had certain ways to negate that cost. But man, it's so expensive right now, I didn't realize that if you have a new car, depending on the value that car you can upwards of that personal property tax being thousands of dollars is insane to me. Yes, sir. Me being a guy that has lived financially on on the edge. And I you know, I got excited about combat pay, and it has ris- duty pave parachute pay every month. Yeah. I can understand people. You know that people are in there having to make a choice. Safety versus you know, I got to put food on the table. And you know, and we have you know, other things that need to be addressed. And especially if you have chrome snatchers. You know, you gotta keep that issues under feet fad. No electricity. Yeah. Yeah. That's a big deal. So it is it is a dilemma, but I do know that you know, when you inspect vehicles, it is and. You you ensure that there's a certain level of safety. Yeah. We've had two inspections so far in our vehicles since we moved here two years ago. And I would say that it was I don't think there was I was even close everything was fine. I mean, I didn't have any problems with it. I didn't know what would trigger the inspection to fail. I I wondered how much of a defect would have to be in a vehicle for it to fail. Yes, sir. Yeah. I don't I don't know what the threshold is because I feel like I got older vehicles. Like, my car is a two thousand four and no problems. You know, everything was fine. Yeah. Yeah. I'm driving a two thousand one dodge Dakota right now with a manual transmission through weather. Oh, yeah. Believe me out. Mike concentration factor was driving at night across Kansas. And you couldn't even see a highway. But you know, again, there's another reason why you wanna have vehicles that are inspected at least a modem of safety that everybody agrees to. Yeah. I don't know. I like it when I lived in Michigan. We never had to do that. When I lived in Ohio or Indiana that really wasn't a thing. So I I didn't feel like he was anymore less safe there because of that maybe it's just a psychological factor because. You know, driving along somebody stretches of road. I I'd rather face the Taliban on some days. With some of these guys especially driving around people aren't really paying attention to what they're doing. That's the thing everywhere. That's something. That's not going to be fixed by these. Yeah. It's pretty crazy. I don't know. Hey, good. Thanks for calling in. Thanks for listening. Have a safe trip by? That's kind of cool. He's driving through Columbus. Ohio going from California all the way to the east coast really neat to hear that. All right. You know, they're putting out the plans so net zero LLC has broken ground on three model homes in the north side. The developer Paul mckee's long-stalled redevelopment zone north of downtown. Yeah. So this is fascinating to me because I was reading the plans, and I was curious what they're going to do near Saint Louis place park, and they want to build this community out. They know that the development of nj is going to be close. It's just a couple of blocks away from it. They have as many as two hundred and fifty homes that could go onto the size lots that they have each house. They say will be energy self sufficient, if you're a real term, I need someone to explain something to me, and we haven't had any call in yet. But if.
