And that's I think it's the first time I think we've chocolate. He was mentioned in another show. And I'm like I better go get rob and talk about chocolate properly. Yep and so sure enough you know there. It is and when you know at lots of great comments on the show from seven years ago. includes from Stephen Ball who says great show as usual guys. I've been playing around with chocolate for a couple of days now and I'm quite impressed. He's impressed with these seven-year-old version of chocolate. But that was seven years ago right. Besides the obvious Lennox Inspiration Command line driven package management the lack of blower. It all stood out in my tests. For example I downloaded the free image editor. From the Creator's website still anomaly installed the image editor. I wanted but also silently installed several online shopping toolbar that I didn't want after removing the computer and update. Nima janitor several days the boat where was back and yeah seven. Years ago sucked. Interestingly enough to Sima Jenner was available on chocolate so I thought I'd give it a try. The installer ranches did before. But only this time. It was just the image I wanted with. No blow aware. Yeah although may not be the main functionality. Chocolate has certainly appreciate being able to install an update software Having to worry about the installer adding extra junk right which is awesome and I probably should have shared that comment with rob ages ago. Because it's one of the reasons many reasons. His product is super cool. So Stephen Thank you so much for your comment copy of to. Kobe is on its way to you. "That makes me so sad as a woman and so impressed from a branding perspective and like should I just disappear so ask me something. Asked me something that you guys have not figured out on your because I think it was gonNA come to your poss- some I think. So and now I mean yeah oh I wanted to ask you this. Do you suffer from imposter syndrome? Of course still. Yeah I mean because you seem very self aware but you also seem pretty confident like we just talked about the like. Oh I hate myself. I didn't do that right. Yeah that's like perfectionism. Work Hall is of course. We'll have that but the impostor syndrome. I don't deserve this and I'm not good enough. Yeah do you still struggle with sorry? Okay I don't have so I don't I definitely don't hate myself. I don't say that anymore even as a joke. That's one of the off limits things for me but like when I come upstage and I'm like what it's more like. How did I do that? I could have done that better. Which is true. Yes saying I could have done. Something better is not low self esteem. I don't like this thing. Where now at if self edification in self-improvement is now self flagellating? It's not it's a scientific fact that if I go on stage and I come off. I probably could have done something a little bit better. The audience will never know the difference. It doesn't matter but I know I know yeah. Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah I'm the one that did this so I know that I could have done better. You guys don't get to decide that I have low self esteem because I want this to be as good as it can be like. I refuse on that. I refuse for someone being wanting to be excellent as like being pathologist says a perfectionist. Yes you know what I mean as long as you yourself have times that you go. That was excellent. That's right that's right but if you never do that agreeing agree agree. Great so imposter for me. I don't think I don't deserve certain things actually think I deserve a lot more. I'll teach me how will that way I have had a lot of things in this business? Go sideways and like really unfairly not happen. Because of people's Egos and bad behavior granted. I made bad decisions I mean I didn't I didn't. They weren't bad at the time with Mike clipboard and on paper. I didn't trust my gut about certain people that ended up being you know megalomaniacs narcissists and that destroyed things so. I had a lot of things that I wanted to happen not happen. I had the wrong team in place so I think I deserved for those. They sound so i. I have reverse imposter syndrome with a couple projects where I'm like. It's unfair that that that didn't happen. I mean look I but I'm also I'm going to tell us that program step threes. Everything's happening exactly as it should. And Thank God. That didn't happen in dodged a bullet in rejection. God's protection and all that looking back. It is the best thing that happened. I know that but I I still am allowed to say I deserve that and I didn't get it and life's not fair and that's fine Inter I definitely have I think because we're magicians. In a way you know we sometimes go on stage and you guys are GonNa think we're having the best time of our lives and we're really sad inside or confused or you might think that we You know a really in the moment president when sometimes we're not and we're thinking about our next joke or whatever I went onstage. I did two months of stand up right after my dad died and no one would've known a lot of what we do is acting so when. I have a the impostor syndrome of trick to them. Sometimes it's true You know so I have a little bit of. They're going to find out that I'm a phony. There's a little bit of that because ending. Sometimes we have to be because of the circumstances I mean I was dreading doing shows the week that everyone was canceling. 'cause CORONA BECAUSE I'm not to go to Detroit and I'll have to go in there. I'M GONNA have to pretend I'm not scared and I'm GonNa have to pretend that every time I hear cough I don't hear it. I'M GONNA have to barrel through these jokes. I'm going to have to like lie about why can't do a meet and greet. I was like I'm GonNa have to be a complete phony and sometimes we have to do that right. You know so. I think that I some I've to delineate the difference between imposter syndrome and like no. I did kind of just pull one over because I had to because we have to perform we plan at six months in advance. And we don't know what's going to happen that morning and if my mom is sick and something bad happens and I just heard bad news I still have to go on stage and not let anyone know. But that's a there's a difference between this audience is going to find out that I'm sad today and every audience is GonNa find out. I actually suck. Yeah Yeah Haley. Yeah I remember when I Was Touring. I was opening for this male comedian. That was pretty big at the time and his whole thing was about being a married guy being married guy and his kids and his wife and the thing and probably his annoying nagging wife because all wives are annoying and a nightmare. You dare they rear and Razors. You propose to them. Like he went and bought the ring. Why and he was broken up. They were they had been divorced for like six months in every night before he went onstage. He'd put on his wedding ring. So Ellie Rudolph is like oh brutal that is sober. Yeah that to me is when when I think when I'm being false or not telling the truth you know that's when I would feel like I was just being fake or being phony but I think that I think that that goes away with time you know. I think I definitely felt it more in the beginning and I don't feel it as much anymore because of how much I've given up for this and how hard I've worked I don't really feel it anymore. Yeah I feel a little bit. It was like a podcast. 'cause I don't know what I'm doing like the place I feel imposter syndrome is like with podcast. You know stuff that I haven't been doing for a really long time like I look at you. Know someone like Rogaine and people in Bobby Layman Friends of mine. That are doing pockets for a long time. And I'm like I don't want you to think that I think I'm you. Yeah you know because I'm really big into meritocracy. We're so worried about what other kind they don't give a shit good for you. Can I come in your podcast? And I'm like but I'm not trying to steal your late. They're like we don't think you are fine. Yeah I mean I don't know I think I think Comedians who are successful. Don't worry about other people being successful. I think unsuccessful Comedians toggle. A lot of Shit. Yeah that's correct and so if someone's talking shit about you. It's like they're talking about everybody. Yeah that's right now. Like they're they're probably saying like and they last special was fine. You know nothing like it's also like yeah. They have more time to gossip because they only do fifteen minutes a night right. Yeah more time on their hands and they're hanging out. I remember this was like I want to say member. And Jerry Seinfeld was at the comedy store like two months ago. This was recently Jerry. Seinfeld like popped into the comedy store and there's held a lease alone. Vote Pompton and did this. I had never heard this before but it was fucking hilarious about reasons. Of course he can make raisins funny and he did like long very good bit about raisins. Just destroys right. He goes off stage. I go on I think after Hammer. I don't know who else it doesn't matter and then I go sit down in pretty known. Comic is like doing old material. I was like Whoa go dude. It's first of all I haven't heard that. Yeah I don't know if like what are you doing? I know what are you doing? Yeah and I remember having this very specific moment whereas like don't do that don't do it. Yeah it is a part of the brain that's responsible for being. A comedian is being critical. Judging being sort of an observer not a participant. Because that's what we are. We're not participants in society where observers in society. It's that simple and we have to find something wrong with everything we've defined injustice everywhere right. I mean Gary Goldman. Did it with sugar cookies like we can. We can make anything offensive what we do so but I think the key is being able to turn it off when it comes to other comedians. And we're not performing or writing. Yeah I think for me. I have really tried to find something. I can liken respect about most common Even if they're not like I thing and if they're not but we're not the target audience exactly where you're buying tickets. You don't have to like it and it's funny I've ever Neal Brennan said once A bout like comedy managers and he was like if I was a comedy manager. I would just walk into a comedy club. Ask all the Comedians who they hate and then signed those comics that's hilarious. That's so fun. Yeah who do you hate great right because every time you talk shit about another comedian? What you're really saying is why didn't I get what they got? Why don't I have what they have? That's right and you're just a just makes you sound angry and yeah and it doesn't even if other people are agreeing with you that just going to you. Don't even have a lot of anger. I don't but I've also gotten a lot of shit really. Oh my God I've got. I mean like I've been given a lot of opportunities by the industry if I was like. I have more good news and badness I haven't heard about it really yeah. I have a Netflix Special Whitney. I know but I'm twenty six. What's it's a stupid thing? No I mean I mean I got my first special at twenty six and I gotta listen God. Y'All don't ever don't ever gives me don't ever Google Yourself. Oh no I would never you getting me. I think I got my first special twenty six. That's what I'm saying. Oh God saying do you still feel that way because I'm sure you do fog? Yeah I'd I feel like I've just always been all like I what I was twenty six. I didn't even think I know I am. I am you. Yeah Oh beginning. Oh you are you are Italy and I am the United States and you should be telling me what to expect that I never leave your home ever again. Maroon yourself in your apartment for life never speak to another person and don't Google yourself under any circumstance. I do think though I think for me. It's so interesting that I didn't put that together because I just keep going like well. She's young in a different time like it's still so early. That's rolling farted. That's really really aggressively. So I gave him duck. Eggs don't ask did you. Actually I I wanted to get him just eggs and I got home and they were duck. Eggs Hashtag Los Angeles and so those are duct far. You have no idea how good you have it Bro. I think in my head I just go like Oh like people think women are funny now. Like this is a different totally. This is not a gender thing. This is an age. That's right interesting when you got a special. Yeah at Twenty Six. And you know yeah. How old was Berlin Birgit? Blew up what I mean. I think it's like what would be worse being successful and having people not like you or being not successful and having the respective comics not you wouldn't have either no. I think there are people who are considered like underrated or whatever. Who would you want? You want to be underrated. No probably would I'll be overrated any day of the fucking really S. When have everyone hate you? Sure really yeah. I don't know that I feel that way. If you don't pay my bills I just don't I can't listen to you. I just it's bad business. I love you so much. What you're my hero. I'm just saying like you don't I don't work for you. Yeah I work for the people that plus press play on the Netflix special in the people to buy tickets..

I still have a good relationship with with time and with growth and change. Some people. Don't handle it well. Some people don't handle change. Well some people don't handle growth. Well some people can only grow and and when I say grow I don't you know there's a way whether it's it's work ethics or whether it's you said earlier about becoming a man like what did take I mean I. There was a lot of pain. Want to get to a certain place in in some people will stay. Stay that way and not learn from it and there's some people that can grow past it. I feel like I've I've gone through so much over the years and I appreciate the fact that you've always been you've you've always been you and if there was anything if I had ever done anything that that required calling out you you were the first to do it and there was always a respect that you know a uncle uncle enjoy said and you know like would call me a man. Ga uh-huh gave. I'm trying to joke right now. Comparing Awake to Hollywood I. I saw my mother they get buried and that went to this. Wake and Cuban wakes of five days for days fucking wrong you know. And that thing that he did the me with Latino Fussell. I never forgot that. Because he made me showcase like a donkey five times clean then he said you didn't make it to the festival but then he did a midnight blue show. He didn't actually do the dirty show. I saw him at the he came to the storm purpose. That Monday lay to rub it in my face and I was like that's a declaration of war but I'll save that for later down the road. That's how crazy so listen. Ninety eight and I say that as a declaration of war that showed back up in two thousand seven like I always knew I was gonNA stab him one way or another. I'm looking at you in the face and I'm telling you that that whole thing well how to describe to Comedians what it felt like it was a time in my life where I couldn't find agent. I will book in shed the book the CBS pilot. I booked baseball and had book something else everybody was had agents. Everybody was going to Montreal. Hello everybody was getting some your. I am stuck at the store following for Muni every night and I didn't really see for what it was. Do you know what I'm saying on so here I am living my life. I never bothered the Latin community in two thousand in nineteen ninety six. They called me in Seattle. Flew me down and put me to hotel on Wilshire and took me a factory made me God number six behind Greg Giraldo and fuck him. This is Pablo was fucking Buick asked. This is Pablo is doing Seinfeld in Spanish and once I saw that my insides broke out deserve to be down here so I went up. They put me up by number flock into among Cuban Mexican rule. I get buried. I get off stage. One person who came up to me and gave me out Marlin Martinez came up to me. She goes that's the funniest resolved by these steps. Just don't fucking get it ain't now. They have a broom up that fucking pussies the she would just go off into like this thing. That's how I met Marlin Martinez was after the bombing my first time ever in La am. I'm getting off the stage and her going off and taken me out slide and telling me to move here but I should be on the next plane down. They're looking for guys like me. And I remember taking her number and I went back to Seattle kept in touch with Marilyn and then I got the deal from CBS. And when I came back I called mound. And she told me contacts thaw. How do she's a fucking thing? It was just my body. How Nice lady she was? She had the black husband. David David David always had those mentioned his pocket. The David Kenyon matches. It was just a weird God. I don't know what she was to you and me. She was like she will find you know for me. It was like Oh. She was like a huge wall on me for bad relationship choices because I would always tell her what was going on a steel bit. She would tell me some nasty things I should be doing instead of Kerma be romantic. gave the give them like. Oh my God it's funny. I don't have a picture of Maya. I'm Mike clipboard. Have a clipboard on the wall. And just look at it when I I see and I just say she would call the House dog and if either pick up the old answering machine pick up pick up the cup. Hello I know you're there. She we say Cock sucker and my girlfriend would go kind of people you hang out with. That's when I first started Darik amount recall all the house. We leave the store at two. You went to Santa Monica you gotTa Chicken Burrito you talked about coronary and then you went the home and a half hour later your phone. It's mound and all of a sudden she aiko. There's a guy call him being phone sex and then she would go get swollen sakes guy. I I'd be sitting there and blow it also. My phone would ring. Those nine seven six days in my mail was five. Four three hundred three hundred seventy eight one of those shoes. I hit with a safe like somebody dropped to save the eleventh slot. God wrestled. I'm not saying nothing bad about. I miss her dearly. I couldn't even imagine Agean her around today..

"Mexico's so the project is the product is Max Oris shortcuts icons. is these are three hundred icons for customer guns for shortcuts on the home screen so you know you can add sure cuts to the home screen for quick activation but by default economically choose from the BILTINE G- lifts that are made by apple and built into the short tap a few months ago. I had these idea of so people come to Mexico and they read about shortcuts and they sign up for the club to get more and more advanced shortcuts and we have the Mexicans Shortcuts Archive. What is something else that we could do to sort of you know promote Max stories as a single sort of a one-stop destination for everything related to shortcuts and I was happy. WDC and I saw the new feature to load accustomed. Mike unaccustomed image for adding a shortcut to the home screen with files bigger at that point. Something clicked in my brain on slack. Ah I WANNA make custom icon set for shortcuts on the home screen and then you exactly what was going to do. I wanted to design a set. Well not me personally but to Sylvia to designer set that would basically compliment the default options in the shirk atop so to have icons some some very specific others more mainstream if you will design a designed by shorts users for shortcuts users is the way that are being referring to these so the idea of bingoing through all the shortcuts that I ever created and that a published in the in the maximum shortcuts archive I've been going through popular shortcuts on Reddit on the websites of David Sparks and Matthew Matthew Casino Leeann Rosemary Orchard been taking a look at the shortcut seen the Apple Gallery and of maiden like notes for myself of this shortcut when when you add it to the home screen is there good grief the represented and if not I would take a note and so we came up with these three hundred gloves. They're called the maximum shortcuts icons. You can buy them today. They are discounted. If you are a club member there over thirty percent off if you already pay for cloud Max so that's the the next perk for you and you all you need to do so you basically download the ZIP file it. It contains these three hundred icons and the very nice thing about it is that we designed it with. IOS Thirteen point one and I to- Oh S. thirteen point one in mind because yesterday's update added one specific feature that makes our shortcut tycoons really special and that is they will keep the original color of your shirt. God when you add it to the home screen so before it used to be that any image that you picked from files to use as a custom home screen icon would override the original color of your shortcut either with with a black background color that looks horrible or with any other background color if you provided a P J peg image but with with our icons if you're using thirteen point one they will look just like the apple made home screen icons so you will have your your default color of the shirt the you're signed in the shortcuts APP but you will have accustomed grief on top of it and I should also note that there are no no crazy hacks or work arounds involved. I know that in the past I shared my own like reverse engineered the for example the Wade that oppal used to generate these icons but now you're thirteen the way that you add home screen shots all new. It's all native and our icons icons are native as well so you can pick them directly inside the shortcuts up from files. There's no crazy. Hacker workaround involved it's all natively supported and because of thirteen point one it looks great in terms of it keeps your original shortcuts color so I rethought my entire home screen set up because these a product that I use myself and so now all all my bro- My iphone I've basically rethought my home screens screens around these icons that finally gave me options for like Mike clipboard shortcuts or by my timers for toggle for time tracking so all of that and we launched them today and they're part of the New Mexico is Pixel design brand that is run by Sylvia and me. We're GONNA we're. GonNa do more design stuff in the future NBA. Have some ideas not enough physical products. I'm not I'm not crazy like Mike take like that. Species all yours Um but more design stuff we have some ideas and that is the second big thing that I've been working on since July so we launch it today and you can go to Mexico. He's dot net slash pixel and you will find links to the icons they look really awesome and they're really good is if if I didn't if I just saw a screen shot and I didn't know this was third party like it looks like something apple would do. I mean that in the in the highest as possible praise amazing work thank you well. It's all you know I I gave the ideas and actually I see you. I hated me for DECI. Gave my requests like I need an icon for a clipboard that also contains a link and it was like so she she did all the design necessarily for these and there's there's actually a full preview that you can see on the website if you're like we have banners and we have screen shots but there's also a full preview. You can open and see all I consider included and yet I you can take a look at my home. "Let's talk about the <hes> the preseason game <hes> now they play the rams and preseason. I'm going to be very honest with would you fans. I don't give a shit about it. I don't care because it's bad football for the most part but this is what i look for is our rookie flying around and who does not get hurt. I hate injuries in the preseason yup and what i noticed about the raiders game was list abram max about feral last a little bit hers r._t. Daas those are guys even washington. Those are guys out really looks good to me. I really was impressed with them. The person i was impressed with most out of every and you could say i'm a homer you could say because i know him but my guys canine keyshawn nixon look like a guy. That's on a mission to only play in the n._f._l. But takes off and have a major role for the raiders. He did look good. He really didn't it's funny. I thought about you when i saw him. Break up a couple couple past plays. I thought oh man somewhere joe. Smilin' somewhere joe's happy because his guy made a play and he did. He's a guy that i actually left off fifty three man roster. I didn't think he was gonna make it but so far training camp he's been having a really good camp from everything i've heard and he looked good in preseason game number. One all he's got to do is continue to build on that. He'll do exactly what you just said. He's gonna take some job and have a major impact with this raiders team and he knows it. He absolutely knows it. Jon gruden put it out there. Hey you need to take someone's job. Everyone needs to be on a mission to take someone's job and he you know unlike some people actually took that advice and his running within so yeah hey man <hes> hats off to him because he does look like he could be a player. It looks like it'd be a hell of a player matter of fact. He chose the wrong college now when he did when he went to south carolina's de vito's teaches multiple <hes> defenses and coverages and he learned a lot there air but he shouldn't have gone south carolina should've on tendency or <hes> you know really gone to u._s._c. really wanted him but he wanted me the west coast <hes> you'd have gone there and he he would have been drafted. He should have been drafted. The raiders got raiders got a couple of guys ingles. I mean that's the guy that that that. I think has legit shot. <hes> shot. I know i know smith is back now. <hes> daas who it's been very impressive in camp and he's a guy that we talked about you know right after the draft. He's a guy that that really should have been drafted. He's got make a lot of places and obviously keeps on so. There's some some guys that i really think have a legitimate chance to make this team and make an impact but i but i was impressed the raiders at a really good job you know even glennon lennon aside from those those those interceptions. I was trying to find the right word. They say we're just stupid. Like what the hell oh you doing. If i was a coach mike clipboard or my headsets giving you new ones thrown into the ground and broke it <hes> but aside from those pigs they moved the ball very well and they think peter mann day peterman have that nice weather really putting it into this. I'm the doctor put the game away. I bought the raiders looked pretty. Damn good and pretty athletic can all things considered no card into play often and play no certain forgotten to play the day look pretty athletic heard of what they were last year. Yeah they look better. They didn't go away from that game upset. I felt like some guys did what they were supposed to do. Some is is a major thing about their roster spots. Guys you know solidified the spot the fact that there could be n._f._l. Players if they continue to build off of.

"Jerry. Thanks so much for sitting with me. I appreciate it. Happy to be here. Yeah. So we're we're sitting here. This is the night before react twenty eighteen is when this is being recorded who knows when you're hearing it, but we're going to talk about we're going to talk about the new stuff in sixteen dot six and some stuff that we know is getting announced tomorrow, and you'll know about by the time this airs, so yeah, how are you feeling the night before I'm very excited just reading the the schedule like very excited for a lot for a lot of the talks some cool stuff tomorrow. What are you most excited about? Delve in the room. I think is like what like everybody's pumped about it or hooks. Like, I think it's going to be really really cool components of always been a problem. Like if you've ever even a workshop like we give workshops and just like, yes, sixes quirky still. And this is takes full essay to explain in Java script. So that's like part one. I'd say like hooks like two things for me that like really are citing about hooks. I is like getting rid of this. Yup. The second is they fundamentally replace render props. So with that end render props for great, I have like one of the more popular render props library. I guess now. I don't know it's up there. Which is wreck functions wreck wreck functions. I didn't think about that. I was gonna format, but I have like maybe maybe I'd like top ten idea. But like I was about four may perform it like fundamentally about the renter prop like the whole. It was about like a hierarchy component at first. And then once I saw the light and saw the render props late. I was like oh, man. This is great. I should just make both form ACC does both. And like it's worth the wait. And I know people that come up to me what after conferences up, and they're like, I love the IRO component matches are functional style. And I'm like, that's cool. I don't use it. But that's awesome. I'm so happy to support you, right? But I use random profit. And I think are great. We use them for all kinds of things on that stuff that we do with graph. You'll will use the query component from Apollo, but we also have like real writer own career components for rest and just like do that. And like I've thought about writing. Hashing thing for rests like twenty times with. Query components. Anyway, doesn't matter like we use them all the time. The problem is though is that like you end up having especially with prettier indicating the situation at least like two times a day. We were just like refractory some random prop you're in some big component. And nothing works. Just the it. You like us for me. I love Alfred Mike clipboard history. I'm just like clipboard history clipboard district. I gotta figure out where this was Apple's e seventeen times things break everyone's been there. And you're just yeah. You're and you can never figure out where exactly that map is supposed to end. It's always in line map. And it's just blows up your whole like couple minutes in like if someone interrupts you during this time like just sadness seas. So renter. Props are great. But this call these she'll sovereign callback. Hell like the classic node issue. Right push..

"That. But we should also think about every pasta. Bill the angle on what we can do together, something I thought was really profound when I was reading about you and you go to show that scoring going across the country right now in one really interesting piece. And it's etchings on plexiglass etchings of the images of your grandmother's your great-grandmothers baskets. And it's sort of Ghost like. But you talk about when you go into a history museum and you see the First Nations display especially a few years ago. It's like you would think these people don't exist anymore. Yeah. Well, are always kind of interested in this idea And and it's definitely not a new idea or a new conversation. A lot of my peers and senior artists that have come before us have led the way in this conversation with regard to the institutions having these disembodied objects and often The context is not correct in them. So it was really interested with that with regards to Meagher basket tree because we make more people. We were the first point of contact with in this country that we now call Canada being on. On the East Coast And so a lot of our objects are in museums in Europe, but also in Canada as well. So it was looking at this idea of storytelling with regards to the information in these cases. And this is the information that's on the little courage panel on this case like, does that actually say what this is, where it came from, what it was used for? There's a lot of people don't realize that within the context of meanwhile persons, a lot of those objects across the ocean were Tourism trinkets, right? It was like a tourism thing because when we were like, Oh, look at all these guys in red coats, They have money and they wanna buy things Blake. So what do you want? You got a daughter, okay. I'll make something for your daughter. So it was very much like a hustle right from the get go, right? So people are like, Oh, this is a ceremony objects. Like really because in our you know, oral traditions that says that somebody made that, you know, for your daughter. And so it was kind of interest in this idea of speculative history because it's often times when we have all of these different all ages muse Y'all just anthropologists archaeologists to any type of all, just you can think of really When you bring them together, they have their knowledge of information that has been given to them by an institution based upon their history of learning. So somebody at some point in time said, This is a plastic water bottle that carries water made by Nestle. Right. And then so in the future, when somebody comes upon the image of this, So be like, Oh yeah, that used to be a plastic water bottle that carried water made by Nestle. We won't talk, but we're the water came from. 'Cause that's another chapter in a different all the GIs job. So I was interested in these ideas of these objects and be like, Well, what happens when people look at the meeting while baskets? And this information is there. So I started talking to my great-grandmother about will what are these for you? And she said, Well, it's there's a whole knowledge in history of information here. And I looked at this western context of dissection with to information. And so these cases have my great-grandmothers baskets that are all dissect it. But each of the terms is basically text the tells you how to manipulate the materials with your body. So it's information that tells you This is what you need to do in order to make it look like this. And if a Meanwhile basket-maker didn't see the drawing of this basket and the only saw the words than they would see this drawing in their mind because they're like, Oh, this is a recipe. It's like a chef reading a recipe and they can taste the food, right? So it was looking at that language preservation with that information. And then kind of having a little bit fun with it. So I asked. People to draw with these incoming my basket should be they would make a drawing of my sketch book, and I would take my great-grandmothers words language, apply it to that drawing and then make it into a three D form. But now these three D forms, they weren't Annesley water-bottle yet. So we had to kind of like Christon them and say now, what is this object? So we had a, a number of cataloguing parties where we would invite people to be the all adjusts, and we have the forms down, everybody's wearing the gloves and they have the measuring sticks and they're looking at them, figure out how many centimeters They are getting the information. And I'd walk around with Mike clipboard in them eavesdropping on their frontier like, Oh, what is this? I think this could be used for, uh, I don't know. Maybe some new put puppy sin and someone's like, Oh, that's great idea. In someone's like, What's this? I think that's a post-colonial lens. What's the post-colonial lends They said something that every PHD students should have, you know, in their school and has like, that's great toast taking all this information in writing it all down to go back to my studio night, edited All of these conversations. And I basically created this database where we had a photographer and a cold writer helped me to design this archive that had all the tombstone information with regard to these objects to a now. What we've basically been able to do with hundreds of people in the past four years is to throw a glitch within that museology context. So and people research make ma history with regard to the basket three hundred and fifty years from now. They'll see There is a very specific evolution from the time of tourism trinkets in the fourteen hundreds and then make moms basket tree and fancy baskets. And all of a sudden they hit 2010 And then there's a post-colonial lends or there's a we. Which which is commemorate somebody's other-worldly experience southern, you're like, what happened to me? Kemal people in their culture, You know at this period of time. So I just kinda wanted to play with that idea of is the boss of this information Are who authors information in this travelling shows. He said, have of these archives, the Basques are you have the the plexiglass images ghosts like? And then there's a part where you're shaving Ash, but you not shaving it the way you would for making a basket. You great-grandfathers watching you at performance. And what does he do? Will on opening night at St. Mary's University art gallery because I was processing this ash log in. Was intending to play with the idea of the Indian on display demonstrating knowledge, which has been a very long-standing relationship between institutions and the indigenous makers as like, Oh, let's kind of play with that a little bit. And my grandfather comes over and he's like slow dome, except he's yelling, Get me and make Mom. But he's hard of hearing and he says, Tomasi stomachs You've got wind. Gusts did mo kiss. This he's only Noha I should we score Luqun. Lisa slow down you to Don't let these people make you nervous. You could you just slow down. You're going to be okay. And and he was he was really, um, because he didn't understand that I was trying to not do the things in order to properly to show people ours kind of playing with that idea of the showcase than it was really kind of aggravating to him. And he remember talking to him later And I said, We know that know you're really upset when I was doing this in think I never upset with chew. It's fine. I said, I know, but I just wanted to explain that. I'm not trying to like showcase Are we do this? And so it was really, um, it was interesting to see my family kind of have me in that performance space. I think that was the first time they had to come to a performance. I just gonna ask one more question because for time severe larger question, I suppose. But. You know, the world feels a little crazy right now. We have climate change, we have missing indigenous women. We of Trump We have refugee crisis is in part because the climate change. So thank God for our nervous for you personally, who would you say is responsibility? The role of the artists in society in this crazy society right now? If so, the relationship. That's a great question. I think it's the same responsibility that we've always had, which is to be able to use the freedom of our voice Center materials to maybe speak up on behalf of people who don't have the privilege to be able to speak up. Thank you so much for today. She was just an honor. Thank you. Thank you. On
