"Taylor WTO P traffic. Now back to storm team four Mike center Micah, seeing some snow outside the windows of the radio station this morning. Yeah, that happens when we get this Arctic front through here. The remaining showers they freeze and we get a little bit of snow. Temperatures are still above freezing, so I'm not looking for any real travel issues over the next couple of hours. The big story is going to be as temperatures fall below freezing. All this standing water from The Rain we've had yesterday last night this morning. That's going to freeze in place and we're going to have some slick spots on area roadways. Winds are really starting to hell behind the Arctic front too, wind gusts right now, 40 miles an hour and Winchester and Leesburg and we're going to see those gusty winds move right through the area with adviser until 2 o'clock this afternoon as winds make us up to 50 miles an hour. There's a windshield advisory for tonight and Saturday morning as wind chills maybe ten to 20 below zero overnight. So we're seeing some a little bit of snow for you activity behind the Arctic front, do wash out for that. The wind is really going to start to howl too after the Arctic front comes to temperatures, will fall to around freezing over the next hour, so we'll start to see the roads become slick. Then this afternoon, partly to mostly sunny skies, but windy is sharply colder. Temperatures will continue to fall into the teens into the lower 20s. So obviously it's going to be kind of an icy drive home from work this afternoon. Clear, windy colder tonight lows from zero to ten above a windshield as cold as 20 below zero, partly cloudy windy a cold on Saturday with highs only the low to mid 20s, so wind chills will hold in the single digits for much of the day. Christmas Day, lots of sunshine, winds will be lighter, but still cold, high speed to upper 20s. Winchester down a 27° right now, Leesburg dropped down to 36, and right now Kyle and we've got a temperature of 46 at Reagan national. Thanks, Mike, 9 41, a warning this morning from the CDC about an increase in pediatric cases of invasive group a strep infections. Now that's the same bacteria that causes strep throat

It's just pushed through Winchester Windsor gusting temperatures are dropping and we're gonna see that cold front sweep through the metro area over the next 90 minutes. And after the cold front comes through, temperatures will drop below freezing. Any standing water on area roadways that's gonna freeze. We're gonna have some icy spots and we may see The Rain end as a brief period of snow behind the Arctic front. That'll end by around noon and then later this afternoon, skies will turn sunny. It'll turn windy and sharply colder. Temperatures are gonna double into the teens to lower 20s this afternoon, and then we'll add to any freezing problems of standing water on area roadways. Later tonight, clear windy sharply colder. Delays in Virginia run a 95, headed south, moving through lorton, travelers across the aka Kwan, and a bit of a delay passing the Prince William Parkway the pace improves. Then you'll find some activity in the service roadway for Dale City, one broken down along the left side, also heavy through dumfries. There had been an issue north 95, the ram to go north on two 34 had been blocked, removing a vehicle that crashed on the ramp. Same on the fairfax county Parkway northbound, the ramp to go west on 66 stay right. The left side of the roadway tied up with that crash. There was an earlier wreck on Braddock road near backlit road you may still find authorities on scene in annandale. Little heavy traffic now on the beltway, inner loop as you approach 66, we've also got a little bit of a delay. Beltway in Maryland, both sides basically between about George avenue and college park as we do have some sort of front moving through here. Again, with limited visibility and a little heavier rain, you'll want to keep those speeds down two 70s good, coming out of Frederick Roland southbound toward the beltway. You'll find one O 8 closed between hall shop road and Tucker lane up in highland and Montgomery county. Last night's crash cleared the utility crews have not, university of boulevard eastbound blocked after Riggs road. There was a serious deadly and crash, the investigation near 23rd avenue has the eastbound travel lanes blocked. All right, we're still a little heavy downtown as you try to leave D.C. going toward Virginia on the outbound side of three 95 as you approach the 14th street bridge, the crash from overnight remains in the far right side of the roadway. And I think that pedestrian walkway may also be blocked because the Jersey wall was pretty seriously damaged. ". 8 28. Traffic and weather on the 8s in Jack Taylor watching these roads closely with the weather. He's in the traffic center. If you are out this morning and have to be, just take it easy, these wet roadways, we've got some weather rolling through, the winds are kicking up so just take it easy. We'd had a couple three things going on overnight that had caused some delays that are easing back. We'll start downtown. We still have some activity on the southbound side of three 95 at one point the delay began before the third street tunnel, so it's much better as you leave the case bridge toward the 14th. You'll see some activity along the far right side of the roadway still blocking, the far right lane, but now with a couple three lanes to the left, getting by the delay has eased, they're waiting on a tow truck. We had some activity around dark traffic signals along north capitol street, basically between Rhode Island avenue and Michigan avenue a number of those are dark signals. Police are there in a couple of intersections So just take it easy. No troubles, D.C. two 95 or I two 95, and we're looking good in the third street tunnel. Slowing, Virginia, 95, going south at a lorton, crossing the occupied, then again, heavy and dumfries, north 95, the ram to go north on two 34, the ramp had been blocked, cleaning up a crash. Also one spun out, I believe, northbound on the fairfax county Parkway, the ram to go west on 66 day right on that ramp to go by. Now you will find in Maryland we'd had some activity topside outer loop, the ram to go south on New Hampshire avenue, going to retrieve a vehicle from that ramp, unclear if they're going to have to block the ramp again or you'll be under police direction. The beltway itself looks good through Montgomery and prince George's counties. We are a little heavy, two 70 south as you leave Frederick, you may find a brake lighter to in Rockville as you approach and pass montrose road. The investigation ongoing, blocking the eastbound lanes of university boulevard and hydesville out after Riggs road, there's an investigation of pedestrian crash near 23rd avenue. Good morning, Gigi, some of the coldest air in years will come in tomorrow morning with an Arctic front. It could be some light accumulations of snow, but the big story turning windy and sharply colder. All right, now to storm team four, we've got some winter weather that's in the area Mike center, or what are we looking out this morning? Right now, most of us are above freezing, so even though we're seeing some sleet in the culpeper area, they're up to 36, so roads are just wet. We are seeing a large amount of moderate to heavy precipitation moving into the area, approaching culpeper and stretching all the way down to the Charlottesville area. Mainly in the form of sleet and rain. Now the winter weather advisory has been trimmed back. It's only for the Virginia counties or the blue ridge and for northern portions of Maryland now that adviser would go for another couple of hours and a flood watch will start. At 11 o'clock this morning. So we're going to see a messy mix of freezing rain and sleet this morning that's changing over to rain fairly quickly and for most of us just wet roadways but they get up toward the Pennsylvania border and also toward the blue ridge still some slick spots for a few more hours and I'll also get above that will take care of that issue but watch out for rain heavy at times this afternoon highs 45 to 50. It will stay fairly mild tonight, the reynold taper off to a few showers to temperatures will hold in the 40s. The big change comes tomorrow Arctic cold front comes through in the morning, right now change over to a brief period of snow and then come to an end. It's going to turn windy and sharply colder. We'll see a morning high tomorrow in the 40s the temperatures will tumble into the teens in the afternoon, and that can lead to some standing water freezing. So I have to watch out for the possibility of a flash freeze. And it's going to be windy and cold for Saturday and Sunday with highs only in the 20s. Right now, gainsborough reporting a little bit of sleep, 33° culpeper sleeve 36, and shown on Kyle we have some light rain 37 or Reagan national. All right, thank you, Mike. All right, we'll start in Maryland. Running two 70 south, we've been heavy passing 85. There was an earlier wreck after a banner that caused a little bit of a slowdown, and then you've got some slowing in Germantown. Off and on riding into Rockville down this fur onto the outer loop, topside out a little slow just after 95 over to Georgia avenue. Inner loop, as you leave old Georgetown road headed toward three 55, we'd have reports of a motorcycle crash. Now we'd had two 70 southbound after old Georgetown road. There was a crash in the center of the roadway. Look for two ten north between swan creek road and fort Washington road, that crash along the right side. The wreck on three O one north near the split 5 have been brandywine. That is clear travel lanes are once again open. They will find we'd had some slower traffic on the beltway south of town, inner loop, the delay is after branch avenue down toward the Wilson bridge, but it does remain heavy into Virginia. We are slow on the inner loop of the beltway coming out of the Springfield interchange riding up toward two 36, 66 had been delayed eastbound passing the fairfax county Parkway, headed out toward 50, then again, netley toward the beltway. 95 south after the rappahannock, you'll find a crash along the left side, 15 in Leesburg near limestone school road, reports of a crash traffic there may be alternating, watch on 28 north before 50, just after Willard road that crash cleanup was last heard along the right side of the roadway. Looking a little better now at around hill, maybe we've got lanes back again, 7 east found after snickersville turnpike, we'd had just a single lane getting through. Not too bad downtown right now, had an earlier erect northbound on foxhole road up near reservoir that's gone. I two 95 northbound, delays leaving the beltway, headed up toward laboratory road Malcolm X avenue, a little crowded across the 11th, still slow as usual going inbound on suitland Parkway riding up toward Sterling, but again, nothing to report in your way. I'm about three ball most letting down this popular D C hill today I'm John Doman. Good to have you with us. W T o p News time is to 31. And 2 31 at w. T. O P. And it is another snow day for us. We are the most snow we're expecting to get and we've seen in two years. Let's get the latest now from Mike Standiford, who's joining us Live with the latest and a mix of stuff now, right, Mike? That's right. We have a cold rain now falling across much of our southern Virginia suburbs, including the warrant in area Culpepper, Fredericksburg. Precipitation is changing over to sleep now in the Stafford area, and look, it's trying to fall radar sings too bright returns across southern Maryland that's usually indicative of sleet. And so the precipitation is also changing over across the southern suburbs. So the accumulating snow coming to an end south of the ice 66 corridor south of the route, 50 quarter, all right now. This talk of another inch or two of snow from the district northward for the next several hours on noticing here in the distribution of the stone, we started pick up a little bit after limit of a dry slot came through. So accumulations have been fairly life so far, but could be another inch or two a Zoe go to the evening hours. It could be another answer to a stove not more across the northern suburbs tomorrow as an area of low pressure starts to move up the Eastern seaboard. And Mike. Obviously, the concern overnight, I guess would be getting into the workweek, people driving and what could happen overnight with the what's already fallen. Yeah, I think we're going to see a re freeze, especially from the district northward. Overnight temperatures gonna flirt with freezing right now because they're treated roadways and temperatures right around freezing. Things were just kind of slushy here. But after the sun sets at 5 29 this evening, I think I'll start to see some ice and some areas, especially in northern suburbs will have quite a tricky community in tomorrow morning special forget some freezing, braving freezing drizzle across the area special across the immediate metro area. And moving into the rest of the week. I mean, how much are we thinking? And once this is all said, and done, you know, it's somewhere between about 4 to 8 inches of snow across the metro area. I'd say we're probably trend toward more that four. I think And then some lighter amounts South. I think the area we're gonna watch tomorrow especially will be over the northern suburbs if we get some moderate to heavy snow as the area of low pressure starts to move across the coastal regions and then moved northward. Especially from our the northern Montgomery County, then to the areas to the north, Always of the Pennsylvania border. Could see several inches of snow tomorrow afternoon tomorrow evening as an area of low pressure starts to take shape closer into the metro area. I don't think I see too much for the way of snow tomorrow, but especially northern suburbs. That will be the big issues tomorrow afternoon tomorrow evening. All right, Thank you so much. Mike W T. O P s And storm Team four is Mike's Denna for joining us here and you'll be here all afternoon to get you into the evening with what's happening out there when it's snow wintry mix in some parts of a lot of people seeing different things, but we are watching the first snow of the season here on w T o p and w t o.
