"To get off the subject and trying to avoid the fact that they lost their sore losers. They don't want to be known as the people that lost because they thought they had encountered protester Allegra Taylor echoed the same sentiment. We're not intimidated by them, so I want to let everybody know we're black, and we're proud. We saying it aloud today, Kitty, The official number of arrest is not a media available. I did ask Capitol Police Protection section if they could release that, and I have not received that information yet, But I personally I personally witnessed two people being taken into custody. They were sighted and then released. I believe both were cited for carrying an illegal canister of pepper spray. Okay, like I'm trying to get a sense of what the tension level was like It sounds like There were obviously some words exchanged, but things were primarily under control. How about you? How was it for you? As a member of the media Media distrust is a re occurring scene that I saw in a lot of signs today. There were quite a few people that I approached. You ask them some questions, interview them. And I was told that as a part of the media, I couldn't be trusted that I was the enemy. The proud boy specifically would not answer any questions, and they told me that it was none of my business and to move along. So to say that, you know, tensions were high, I think is probably an understatement. But, thankfully, the police presence today discourage anyone from acting out. I'm like what we saw at the U. S Capitol. And that's kpk is Mike Blunt. Also earlier today we spoke with Congressman Tom McClintock about what his experience was like at the Capitol today. Asked us all to stay seated and be prepared to duck onto access gas masks that are nearby because the capital have been breached. And there was tear gas now being deployed in the rotunda, which is just a few steps from the House chamber. Um, they Main doors of the Chamber of Frosted and what really caught my attention was, we started to see flashes on the other side of the doors. They then, uh, secure route to evacuate the chamber. Um, Azzam's down and one of the tunnels. I thought I heard a radio, a broadcasting that we had police officers come running bias, and it sounded like it went off over on the radio shots fired on the house floor. And I heard that I thought I could not have heard that right? That's that's impossible. I have no idea what I just heard, but it couldn't have been that. On It really struck home a ZAY approach the, uh, office complex on so in officer Who'd been wounded in the I A big bloody patch over his eye being helped to an elevator and to be evacuated, So those were my experiences. I've ever seen anything like it. Yes, obviously unprecedented and what was going through your mind during this time? What? What did you understand? Who? Who would this was and what was happening? Yeah, it is the kind of thing it was really hard to accept it first. I mean, first thing I thought as well as routine security and, you know, then you start seeing the flashy You wonder what it This is just going on the other side of that door. And but I'll tell you seeing a wounded officer being being escorted out that that really at home. Well, we know that you have supported the president along the way on on many issues. But of course, today, Democrats and Republicans both condemning the action of these protesters, Uh, saying these actions they're just antithetical to the American democracy and patient transfers. Yeah. What? You're worse than that. They strike this attack today. Struck at at at the most sacred act of our democracy. That's the peaceful transfer of power ever since I was in the first grade of teachers would drum home one of the proudest traditions of our nation's unlike other countries. There's a peaceful transfer of power. And that is what was attacked today is it's an outrage is a threat to our most Fundamental principles is a free people. And it is the very definition of terrorism, violence in pursuit of political goals. That is terrorism. Those who stormed the capital today We're terrorists. You do sound somewhat enraged about this and others the emotions every American should be outraged everyone. There is a range of emotions. I think some are are hurting, saying, you know, our country was an example for the world. We had set the standard. We were the gold standard for how election should be carried out and the peaceful transfer of power. What kind of repair do we need to see to to have us go forward? You've spent enough time in Congress. I think you must have a sense of what it's going to take what this country's become more polarized than any time I've seen it. And I remember the antiwar protest in the 19 sixties. And this is this has gotten completely out of hand. And and maybe it's a wake up call. The country that you know this has gone too far, and we've got to return to fundamental American principles. Fundamental American traditions. Uh, before we lose our way completely. Talking with Congressman Tom McClintock. Now we understand that Congress is going to resume certifying tonight. We just got we just got notices. Soon As the house chambers are cleaned up and secured. We're gonna go right back in. And continue the peaceful transfer of power, which is the responsibility that Congress has not not to. Not to. Ah, count votes it likes and not count votes. It doesn't like the Constitution is explicit on this point of the House counts. All of the certified votes sent us by the states. That's being challenged right now is, you know on the House floor? I think that challenge Uh, is, uh, a direct assault on the The fundamental architecture of our of our country by my colleague Thomas Massey. I think put it best when he said that Congress, Congress's job is to count the votes sent to us by the states. Not the votes we wish had been sent to us by the states. If Congress for any reason, and we can always come up with a reason. Can decline to accept certain votes that said by the states. Well, that means that it can it it concedes the decision for itself, which would render the electoral college which I think is a vital mechanism in our system utterly meaningless, Remember, unlike the course. Congress has got this obvious conflict of interest if we invalidate enough votes. We get to elect the president, vice president directly now, the founders never intended that there's an obvious of direct conflict of interest that the founders had intended to give Congress that power. Why did they create an electoral college? It all? Why don't we just have the Congress elect the president every four years? Have to ask you, Congressman McClintock about the future of the Republican Party. After a day like today, some say there is such a rift. What do you foresee for the future of the GOP? The Republican Party has always been animated by a central theme, and that is freedom. It was founded on that basis, the closer It's Hyun, too, that the better it's done. Um, uh, it is not associated with any individual personality. It is. It is a fundamental principle from which all of our other positions are radiate. On day again in a word. It's freedom. Um, I think the Republican Party is now going to be re focusing on that theme..

I witnessed a tense exchange between the two groups earlier. I've also seen a few people get arrested and detained, including a man who was carrying the legal canister of pepper spray. All in all, though, the rally has been most well, mostly peaceful, but there's a lot of frustration being expressed on both sides of this issue. Mike. We're hearing conflicting information about numbers down there. And I know you haven't done an exact head count. But what's your best estimate of the protester numbers down there on both sides? Can you tell I've heard from the organizer's that they're expecting a couple of 1000. It does not look that large to me. It looks like most There's maybe a little over 1000 people, but it still looks like several 100. I've also seen several people leaving as well going on about their days, so I'm not really sure. But I think it's several 100. All right now. We were also told to that.
