Yeah, I'm excited to chat. You just came out with your book, Number Go Up. Congratulations. Tell us what it's about. Number Go Up. I've started out as it's my the story of like the two years I spent going down the crypto rabbit hole. And when I started out, I was just kind of curious and skeptical. And I was arguing with my friend about the reasonableness of a betting on Dogecoin. It's like the height of the pandemic. And I don't know, I got kind of sucked into investigating crypto. Two years later, I was cut to I'm in the Bahamas, going to Sam Begman Fried's penthouse just before the cops showed up interviewing him about the collapse of FTX. And so you said that this was your period of going down the crypto rabbit hole. What had you been doing before? So I've been an investigative reporter for Bloomberg for a long time. And at Bloomberg, I generally write about kind of the shady side of Wall Street. So I'd written exposes of predatory lenders, penny stock scams. One of my favorites was about a Patriots fan who stole the New York Giants Super Bowl rings after the 2008 helmet catch game. So I'd always been looking for like wild stories to tell in this world of business and finance. But I kind of resisted crypto as a potential topic. I just didn't really see it as like, I mean, you're going to laugh at me now, but I just didn't really see it as like a good target for an investigative reporter. And it wasn't because I thought crypto was like the future. It's just like this may be hard to believe if you're like a big time crypto guy, but actually maybe not because I'm sure you talk about it with your family and everybody. But like outside in the traditional finance world, a lot of people are so skeptical about crypto that they were like investigating a crypto company and finding out something bad about it, you wouldn't find anything surprising. I don't even care about that story. But what I realized was that my first crypto conference was Bitcoin 2021 in Miami. And I showed up there and I just met, I realized there were so many crazy characters in crypto. There were so many people that I'd love to write about. And I'm like, these are the kind of people who I need to get to know. One of the first people I sat down with was I met Sam Bankman -Fried there. I met Alex Mashinsky of Celsius, who was very prominent there. I had Michael Saylor saying all sorts of crazy things about Bitcoin. And I came back and I told my editor, like, I was wrong. There's all sorts of weird stuff going on in crypto. This would be a great topic and it'll be, you know, it'll be a long time before. There's too many stories to choose from. Yeah. Yeah. And it's funny in terms of the years that you, quote unquote, went down the crypto rabbit hole. Those were two of the craziest years and in a way, like some of the more unusual years of crypto, I would say. Just so before we dive into, you know, the different escapades you underwent in your book, you mentioned earlier that you were both curious about crypto, but also skeptical. So, you know, before we dive into what you were looking into, I wanted to hear your overall take on crypto. You know, when you say you're a skeptic, how much of a skeptic because there are some people who are skeptics and they completely dismiss crypto, but I didn't get that feeling from reading your book. I'm sort of like a skeptic in general. I'm skeptical of everything. That's why, like, I'm an investigative reporter. So if somebody tells me, hey, like Alex Mashinsky did, hey, I'm going to pay 18 percent interest. And if you want a loan from me, I charge like as low as zero percent. This is like in the world of traditional finance, a very backwards business model. When you say something like that to me, I'm going to say, yeah, I'm kind of, can you provide some evidence, like what, how are you investing your money? How does this how does this make sense? But I tried to keep like an open mind. And the question I was always asking was, what does your product do when I meet crypto founders? Can I see it in action? Can I talk to your users? Is it being used in the real world somewhere? That's one of my favorite questions, because as a writer, it's hard to write about things if you can't see them being used. And so that took me to El Salvador to see the Bitcoin experiment there. But it also took me to Ape Fest to see what it was like to be a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. And I was pleased I got one of the first reviews for the book the other day from Jeff John Roberts in Fortune. And he's, I think, feels fairly positively about crypto. He thought that my take on crypto was a little shallow, but that the book was so funny, he didn't care. And I'm like, you know what? I'll take that. I think we can all enjoy reliving these last two crazy years. And like whatever your take is on crypto, like there are crazy things that happened that we have all just like so much has happened. There's no way to like remember it all. But I have done the work of writing it down so you can go read it. Yeah. Yeah. No, it was definitely it covered the range of events. But let's actually talk about one of the main through lines. And I believe, you know, correct me if I'm wrong, that this was actually meant to be a book about Tether. And because I remember like a long time reading that it was coming out and I think that's what it said. And you kind of keep saying this to yourself that you keep saying it yourself in the book that, you know, you're getting these tips about Tether and you're trying to investigate them. You keep coming up against these dead ends. So before we go into all that, why don't you at least just tell us, so what do you feel were your main findings about Tether and like what were you trying to resolve? So probably old for like most people listening, but Tether is a big stable coin. Each coin is supposed to be worth a dollar because each coin is supposed to be backed by real dollars that are held in a bank somewhere. And I when started out, I wrote like a story for Businessweek about Tether. That was sort of the start of this project. I always thought as kind of like a good jumping off point, I pitched the book as like, this is the craziest financial mania we've ever seen in the world and it's not going to last. And I want to be there to chronicle it. And I see this like interesting central mystery that is going to like take me through. And that was Tether. At the time when I started, Tether said that they had, I think it was around 50 billion dollars in the bank. It was weird because on the one hand, it was pretty widespread to be, and correct me if I'm wrong, if I'm describing what crypto people think, because you probably know better than me, but like even people who are pretty into crypto in when they were talking to me, they'd be like, yeah, I'm not so sure about their assets like this. I don't know what's going on with Tether. This is like a good question to be asking. And it was being asked at like the highest levels of the U .S. government. Like Janet Yellen called a meeting of all the top financial regulators and the topic was like, what's going on with Tether and like, could this affect the world And I just thought it was a little when I started looking into Tether and I saw that, you know, among its co -founders was a child actor from the Mighty Ducks. I was just like, what is this in that the company I write in the book, the company was quilted out of red flags, like in the world of traditional finance, you did never you would never find a company with so many weird things to look into. And yet here it was like at the center of the crypto world. And I just thought it was it was funny to me that the heads of state were discussing this coin that was like dreamed up by a child actor from from the Mighty Ducks. And I was like, this is my kind of mystery. I want to dive in. I'm going to try and find Tether's 50 billion dollars. I see. So, you know, as we mentioned at different points in the book, you do talk about how you feel like you keep coming up against dead ends in your investigation. So what's your conclusion about that fact? Like, do you think it means that concerns about Tether are overblown? Does it make you more convinced that like the company is just really hitting everything really well or like what are your thoughts? Right now, Tether has only grown bigger. Midway through my reporting, I found that Tether had invested a lot of its assets into Chinese commercial paper. And there's kind of like this conflict of interest at the heart of Tether's business model, which is that if you give your money to Tether, you want them to keep it really safe. So it's there when you go to cash in your Tether tokens. But Tether doesn't pay any interest in the way that Tether makes money is they can take the money that you trusted them with and they can go invest it. And so there was this theory that especially when interest rates were very low, they might be doing weird things with your money in order to earn higher profits. And that so I found that they were doing some unusual things that included the Chinese commercial paper and also making loans to crypto companies like Celsius and others. So to me, that seemed like that's kind of risky. What's going to happen there? And as I followed along in the summer of 2022, like crypto companies fell one after the other and Tether did not. And there was even like a little run on Tether where users cashed in, I don't know, five, 10 billion dollars of Tether. And I'm sure if those people did not get their money back, like we would have heard about it. Right.

With me today is Brock Pierce, who's an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, co -founder of Tether and BlockOne, a former presidential candidate, and a former child actor. Brock, it's an honor to have you on the podcast. Well, I'm grateful to connect with you and, you know, thank you for spreading the good word and, you know, going through the process of asking interesting people questions for the benefit of others. You know, it's such an important thing today. I mean, look at what we've gone through in terms of major media companies, censorship, certainly for those of us working on censorship, resistant technologies, you know, kind of the importance of, you know, where are you getting your information from? You know, as much as we're building trustless systems, trust is still a critical component of everything we're building here. You know, there are still people involved. For sure. And Brock, you were the pioneer for many great crypto solutions. You're obviously involved with many different companies, but I want to get to know you a bit better, you know, outside of the Wikipedia stuff, you know, where you're from and where'd you grow up? Well, I was made and born in Minnesota, right outside of Minneapolis in a small town called St. Louis Park. I started acting at the age of three. And I started making my first movies at the age of 10 and then ended up moving out to California as a result of having done Mighty Ducks and a bunch of the local films in Minnesota, then moving out to Los Angeles temporarily to film Mighty Ducks 2. I ended up moving to Southern California or to Hollywood when I was 13, just turned 13 years old. And what made you transition from acting, leaving Hollywood to go into tech and Well, investing? I come from the first generation of kids that, you know, generally grew up with video games in the home, the beginning of sort of computers, home computers, the beginning of sort of the consumer internet, you know, your prodigies or even the school systems in the US were distributing some of this stuff, you know, to the AOLs. And so I'm a byproduct of the first generation that had access to tech, you know, as kids. And so it was obvious to me that technology was going to play an important role in our future. And so I grew up starring in movies. I decided I didn't like being famous and, you know, going out places and everyone wanting to take the picture with you, sign an autograph. It's like, you know, anonymity, you know, is, you know, an incredible form of privacy. Being a movie star is, you know, complicated. And so, and I also was like, I'm busy reading other people's lines. You know, I want to be the creator. I want to be the producer. I want to be the person that makes and invents the things. And so I just decided I didn't want to act anymore. I still did it for a little while as I was figuring out what I wanted to do next. And when I was 16, I made the final decision to quit acting and pursue an entrepreneurial sort of internet career. You know, at the time, everybody thought I was crazy. They're like, what university did you graduate from? What are your qualifications? What makes you think that you can go start a business? And, you know, because at the time there were no teenagers. I was, I'm pretty sure the youngest internet entrepreneur there is, you know, I mean, at the time, you know, back then, if you didn't graduate from the right fraternity, you couldn't access capital. I mean, it was far more a club then, and it was that internet, you know, the wave of the internet is really what kind of opened up the market for entrepreneurs that didn't, you know, come through sort of your conventional path, you know, which in many ways has paved the way for those of us that work in, you know, call it blockchain or cryptocurrency technologies, but a bunch of industries, you know? And so that's, that's how I made that transition. And my first business having come from entertainment was a focus on streaming video. And so started a company that was really the precursor to YouTube, Netflix, Hulu.

"Two dollars and then she turns to enter. Have the money. I live in this house. Delivery is poor. It's not funny. I'm not disputing that for me. The movie was disappointment. Screen disappointment it was a terrible movie. But did tell you right now. That doesn't mean that it's not going to do well because if it does well. Hbo max and if it does will enough in the theaters we are going to see an extension of this universe. It's a simple set. But i mean even if they do bring in johnny cage. They're rumors that us at the end. I'm saying there were rumors right now. That are supposed to bring them. Wwe superstar the myths. No that's where he wants he's asking for. Yeah i mean right now. It seems because of others. In there w superstar contract with john cena and the rock. And and i don't see the ms coming in maybe but still what are the characters could bring on taro. I mean they've already made up one with coal lead character who is descended of scorpion but will not be taking up the scorpion mantle As i thought he would be. But if you watch the movie. Yeah he's not taking up the scorpio mantle. He's is own character. they created. They might as well create some more new ones specifically for the movies. They have enough characters. It is getting disagree with you. But i'm just saying if they did it once they could do it already. I mean i know that cole was supposed to be descended of scorpion. And i got that because i got what he said at the end. But that doesn't seem to matter. I know there was another sub zero. When i know the scorpion. The mantles i get all that but everybody. Who's who's died. As far as on the bad side. They're coming back for a sequel because they were all at the end. Anybody who died is going to get magic leave brought back in the sequel liberty. No i get that excrete have keno. If he comes back and that would be great but again..

"Cool. But as far as being a mortal kombat and helen don't got a chance to see the movie you'll see that their inferences at the end for characters johnny cage which. I was complaining that i wasn't in the movie. But i see that. There is a future for johnny cage and you saw everything that went on the movie Obviously the fights were very the very good to see for the most part. The special effects were their hit miss but before we get on out my friend. I wanna go ahead and ask you this with mortal combat. What do you see as far as the future because they talk so much about the tournament but actually didn't have the tournament. It's all leading up to a mortal kombat tournament. Where do you see as far as the future for mortal kombat. As far as this movie series is concerned. I see the shape up to be like three or four movies coming out but my question to deal is before i finish chance interesting. Your question is did you pay very close attention at the beginning of the movie how they started. Yeah that's why did not go right into johnny cage versus this or sonya blade versus kane all blah blah blah which staff fight scene was kind of funny and the reaction between him and cobol was kind of leery s so breathing. Why didn't have the tournaments like normal old school mortal conduct but we get nineties is because they're trying to do something different. We got the the avengers series. We got all those other series spawning off in different directions. Moral comment is seen as as a big money. Grabber to start our own universe and to start more video games what why tournaments with guests from the movies. I've heard after going to start doing with mortal kombat wells because you know every movie that's out there needs to start doing a universe because that's what they want to cash in. Obviously we're going to see expand upon with godzilla vs kong because the great success there and if mortal kombat has the same kind of success or anywhere near it we're going to be seeing a mortal combat universe whether you like it or not..

"Outside of san wilson was not resolved in the greatest way and kind of underwhelming and confusing on some parts. But everything that they did with. Sam wolfson and becoming captain america. I'm a really big fan of that again. Everything around sam. Wilson was still kind of left in disarray. Of course the way that they really didn't give sebastian sandik kind of closing enough. I think he deserved. It was good. But i thought it could have been better. I think also the same thing goes for what we saw with. Us agent and the fact that he is now us agent. I think that was good but not great. But the way they ended up the story lines for sharon. Carter powerbrokers something. That i had told you. That was going to happen since episode. Three and of course with the end of the flag smashers and they were quickly dusted off whether they were blown up or carleen morgenthaler shot which still trying too hard to believe because she does have the super serum that how she died so easily. I want to hear your thoughts on what they could have done. Better to tie up. Some of those sets. First of all. I think bucky was underutilized in the show. He showed up in the beginning. You'd think he's going to have a lot of character development and he did have a little bit of that but not a ton and for him being one of the two main characters. It was kind of underwhelming to see how they treated his character in this show in terms of sharing carter. I think many people in including you saw her being the powerbroker coming but it was really kind of confusing. How she got there and why she would do that. And almost a total one eighty on her character from when we first met her in captain america the winter soldier because she was included in the if you saw and people are watching it now if you watch game where they were showing hers one of the individuals that got blipped. Now i guess you could probably say as a scapegoat. I think marvel's covering its tracks and probably had her as a blip but then he realized they could utilize her character marv. I've just would assume say what she was actually a mantra all the time and developing the underground s the powerbroker. Yeah that's something they might say but it's just really confusing. What they're doing with their character. Absolutely i agree with you on that and again carly mortgage on ask you this. And the end of the flag smashers. We saw them neatly wrapped up an explosion. As far as everyone outside of carly morgenthaler baron zemo got his revenge even though he was in the raft and his butler did it. So you could say the butler did it. I wanted to ask you this with carling morgan. Thal she was shot to death by. Sharon carter aka the powerbroker in a very easily one of fashion. In fact where it came to the powerbroker getting shot. Who doesn't have super sam and carly morgen thal getting shot at. She does have super serum. She's the one that ends up dying. Does that really make sense. No i think carly got several more bullets shot at her. But it really doesn't make sense. The whole super soldier thing. I try and compare the super soldiers and where everybody's power levels are at and nobody consistent in the mount of strength they have it just seemed like overall. It was good could have been better..

"Oh yes the winter is back in avengers infinity war and remember besides that cool seen with him in rocky raccoon. What did he do nothing. Like he shot some guns and stuff and that was really it like. He is every bit as strong as captain america. Is he just has a greyer moral code. So i was kinda bummed out in that aspect john walker showing up was kind of interesting to me. I know they're trying to give him his redemption ark but it felt very forced. Did you get that same vibe. It was like he didn't need to be done. I should just take him at that mid credits scene that he turns into. Us agent it that they didn't need him in the episode. they really did. Yeah i guess my last complaint. And then i want to say the one thing that i really did enjoy but my last can play was the long. Psa they had in this like it felt you know when he gets on. And he's like talking to the senator on on the air. Like i don't know like i don't disagree with the message but i feel like there's such a better way to do that because it went from being this action show to being like something. A government teacher would play you off youtube in the middle class. I don't know it just didn't feel like it flowed well. And then the fact that like you know senator would sit there and like have a conversation like this after that type of experience again like i love the message. I just feel like there's a better way to do it again. Like i applaud ryan kugler from the black panther for taking his his messages and like incorporating it into the action of the film for this one it all just stopped like the episode just stood still. There wasn't even any music playing while he was talking like that was one thing that kind of like a really pulled me out of the episode. Maybe like a day later at the grc while they're making the decision captain america bursting in there and then making the statement with some nice music background behind. Maybe that would have been more effective but then again in the way that we live showing it live having it live broadcast there in that platform. I enjoyed it for what it was. And i thought the message would be clear. I understand that you what you're saying. Is maybe something more formal like that. Maybe it would have been more outperform or even have him have like this last impactful conversation with like carly. I don't know it felt like the episode stopped. I don't know. I didn't really dig that. I felt like they could have made it part of the vehicle instead of like just a stopping point. If that makes sense that makes sense. But again i kind of liked affordable. I just thought everything around it like we were talking about was very messy and very hit or miss like you. I would have loved a little bit more depth into the redemption for the winter soldier..

"Hagen. We heard an actual train. Did anyone else here that are we probably what is that dude Hans Zimmer and kicking in their wage. I don't know that was weird. We have nothing open what the heck just happened. Yeah, and the music's not even pottered up. So I have no idea. That was weird. All right. Well, there you go home relations. Maybe it was outside. I thought it came over my head that was really loud then if it was outside. I had my headphones on how these Cruisers are where they have like some crazy horn on like their life Civic. Oh, yeah. There's a mini that has a train horn that cruises down the street and a little slow. Like it's it's funny because you're on Central it's like you you start staring at like the big trucks and stuff cuz you think they're making all the noise and you're like, oh, it's actually this little beater over here a little 92 Hatchback. Yeah, we should put a transmission in the Seventy-Six sure man sure and then we won't have to trip out as much when we hear it again. Yeah, okay, if we hear it again, why do we hear train horns? That's that's scary to me. I know. All right. What do we learn this week this month? I learned that Mighty Ducks series is pretty good. Check it out. It was cute. That's all I've learned. Yeah. All right, ma'am. I learned that Tom Hanks is apparently a screenwriter as well and he actually wrote the movie Greyhound right now. I don't know why I have not, I've been wanting to watch Greyhound cuz that's the one where it's that was like the last movie that was kind of made before he was like confirmed the first celebrity to get off it covered. All right. I got confused between Lighthouse and Greyhound for a little bit. I was like, oh isn't that the lighthouse won't know it's not. Oh, yeah. Okay the lighthouse movie with all these see that's what I mean. There's all these really high drama movies. It's so hard to like, you know, there wasn't some crazy happy explosive movie like crazy Rich Asians and then cats bomb. So like what's the language of big happy explosive like streak of movies? It's like I haven't really seen cats personally. I haven't seen we needed the butthole edition of cats the yeah. We need it now. I think guys that's the issue. All right bring back there needs to be the butthole cut like Snyder cut. Have we started that campaign or is that campaign already started we try to do it again banking says you should get your car to yell. I'm Mike Tyson. Well, yeah, Mike Tyson. Yeah, or just the sound. It's like the whole song. Yeah so long I should put like speakers pointing down and out. So everybody could hear this car and we could just be really dumb stuff with it. All right, that's it. That's the show. That's our goals for the week. Goodbye, everyone. Want to thank everybody for being part of the show. My name is Jean Ann part in next week. From Public Defender To Stanley Cup Champion

"So joe for those who might not follow the nhl super closely. Can you just give us a sense of what jon cooper has accomplished during his as a coach in the nhl. Definitely jon cooper is the longest tenured coach shell. He's on an eight th anniversary of his hiring on this week. The winningest coach in franchise history for the lightning. And i think he's highly regarded as one of the better coaches in the league and probably a candidate coach team. Canada at the next olympics are positions and olympics for the trump player so deadly highly regarded coach but up until this past season. He hasn't won the big one and that was kind of the big question surrounding it. And how would you describe his personality. Well he's a players go. She's a really fun personality. Like you quotes wedding crashers. Upper seventy six. No excuses public champion. You uses a champion. The only person you have to answer to when you go home at night is really yourself. The national media loves him because he is a great world this charismatic. You're going to get knocked down. There's no question people are going to push down. Because ultimately they want to see it fail if you think maybe teams on trips to like field of dreams when he was in earlier years coaching. He's all about the different sides and binding guys together on the ice and that if you get is connected as a group and the for each other and very process over outcome kind of guy and so you definitely has that charisma that makes them unique. I think the players like that. We'll show you recently. Wrote about how jon cooper has followed perhaps the most unconventional path of any stanley cup winning coach. So take us back to the late. Nineteen ninety s. What was john. Cooper's lifelike at that time he was living in a condo east lansing area couple remains but he was just trying to figure out where you wanted to be in his life. What he wanted to do for work. He was good ball. Charismatic lawyer but his heart wasn't in it always always wondering when is the fulfillment. When are you going to sit there and wake up every day and say. I can't wait to go do what i'm gonna do. He was defender district court in lansing michigan about a thousand dollars a month. You know we're going for indigent clients. He was working on. du is having divorces. You've got a two person law. Office him in a paralegal. He's still didn't know i guess. Were taken at that point. And you got in touch with the judge. Who worked with jon cooper back. Then what did he say about cooper skills in the courtroom and you just notice and how clients clients listen to prosecutors respected him i think is the kind of ability that transcends coaching the ability to persuade players to adopt your system or just believe the approach. So you know. He's he's a good salesman. He always says convincing players. Convincing a jury and i don't think he knew then that it would be kind of the key to him. Maybe starting coaching career. So how did jon cooper go from being this lowly paid lawyer and a former lacrosse player. Who had only played a year of club hockey in college to being high school hockey coach. Well the run in his son playful lansing catholic high school and they needed a coach and so he knew of john skills on the ice and new of his charisma and then he is asked to one day in the building. I saw the coach. would you be interested. He looks at me and goes. Dc the stack of resumes. I have he says. I'll tell you one thing you coach kids high school hockey team and i will take your resume from here. We put it here. Just this exactly. That was his first kind of foray into coaching hockey. Was nine thousand nine hundred nine hundred thousand lansing catholic cougars hockey team and that was seventeen. You actually talked to some of the players on that lansing catholic team. What did they tell you about jon. Cooper the high school coach. I think what's interesting knees. They remember the first meeting in the cafeteria where he's using himself to like twenty kids and parents and those us have just nervous as they were and are waiting to hear whereas the hockey background. Who did he coach before. Because one of the red wings was he part of this huge talk about law school in wall street and this guy another guys were in the nhl players. Even highly college players inducted himself would be anywhere high in coaching world. A reflection of guys play together. I think they'll be the first ones to tell you. None of them really on the track to make the national hockey league but they were such a joy to be around the competed their butts off just line. Who an awkward gesture. The of funny kid and team talked about like there was a hill just a mile from the school that the workouts outside the big hill. The he must've just saw he was driving around and he made us run up this hill with do bear calls and stuff. That is the source. I've ever been my life like. I could not long like off chris. Monrovia now works the red wings. Illitch family talked about how they had this practice where they had no on the ice and they're doing push ups and sit ups and kristin ross. Who served in the military students in afghanistan he goes. I went through the army for seven years. And i went through a lot of work out a lot of hellish days. Afghans dead. That's one of those days that i think back much. It's not as bad as back. And what else did you learn about his coaching philosophy back. Then you know like what were the things that were important to him that he really emphasized to the team. Making guys feel connected or part of it no matter if you were the best player on this team or like the thirteenth forward and i think jeff swan is appropriate examples. Like i wasn't the most natural coordinated like county out now who put me not aligned with the two players. Mike sack out with the most gifted athlete. That are high school in you. The team is better holding. Some of its part. They wanted them to play. Have have meaning and swan. Storing the biggest fools that season the most for player that year. So you know. He's told everyone the most improved player really halls like a special place for him. Something he takes lightly. It was a really really nice compliment. They talked about the hard hat that they gave out. After every win which was an all white instruction half that was something that the player of the game whether at block shot or a big hit or in ceremony the post game. We'll get this production. How they put their name and a sharpie but it was more of a. What did you do to help the team. Really recognizing layers who maybe didn't shop scores sheep but who are just dedicated themselves to helping the team. These success those are moments that came together that they remember forever and become an integral part of their story on a way to winning out like the championship. Well this sort of ragtag bunch of guys did win an unlikely state regional championship in almost mighty ducks kind of way and joe as you talks to all these guys who played for jon. "You know the penalty is gonna be worse, right? I mean, I I don't know if you guys think that it. Yes, I understand that. That's why you should have taken the plea deal. It should have gone through and I think everybody Maybe not Everybody would be happy, but I think it would have lowered a little bit attentions, and it would have been showing. Hey, we can hold police officers accountable. Instead, Attorney General bar comes in. I think part of the reason why he did what he did because he has a problem with black people. That's what I think he's not even willing to admit that this systemic racism in society he's a joke. Moon, but I think I think I think this is gonna work out in in the people's benefit. I really didn't think it may run. You might be right. It may And and I mean, I could see where you're coming from with bar. I don't care too much for him anymore, either because of his flip flops, But you know, I I'm thinking I really am. I'm thinking, you know this goes down and he loses. He's going away, probably for the rest of his life. I don't we'll run I I hear what you're saying. I don't think he's going away for the rest of his life because we're not gonna be able to prove that it was premeditated Murder or first degree, however. You may be right in this sense that he could get more than 10 years he could get 20. We'll have to wait and see what happens. But, Ron, you might be right. We're gonna have to see how this plays out. We're gonna cover the trial, which starts in March. Let's go to art. Art is next on the Vegas take high art, but so far, so this is my opinion and my throw a lot of people off. I think Bar didn't want him to have them. Except that because I think he wanted to have this played out. If you look at cases were there's police and verdicts. The longer it plays out the more of a non guilty plea. I think that bar and maybe some of the Republicans were worried that there will be a backlash with the Republican support. Or the idea that police officer got 10 years saying all know that you know that should have never happened. He should have never been prosecuted. But if you look at the last 10 years of police prosecutions It's there if you like you mentioned, so I believe that barge and not want to alienate of the Republican base. That. I mean, listen, that could be possible. That's another theory. Art and I'm not saying you're wrong. I don't know my theory. Art is this. It's that that I don't think Attorney General bar. Made maybe thinks that officer shall Vin did anything wrong? I think Attorney General Bar is the guy who said he doesn't believe they're systemic racism. And I don't think he wants Officer shopping to go away. I'm not taking in any deeper than that art. But hey, you might be right, my friend and I do appreciate your call. Let's go to Miguel. Miguel is next on the Vegas take. Hi. Miguel will suddenly go. You know, I think it's just terrible that we've got this impeachment going on for a president who should still be president. Talking about the impeachment. Miguel, have a nice day. Stay on topic. You dope. We're not talking. Yeah, that was a wonderful call. We're not talking about the impeachment Stand topic. Idiot! 2575396. Let's talk to Salo. Salo is next on the Vegas Take What's up solo? Did we lose Salo to usually causing around is one of my favorite callers. That's our closing down. 25753 nines wait for so let's go to Carl. Carl is next on the Vegas Take What's up, Carl Girl? Yeah, e guess you know from the past. I'm in the middle. I was in the medical field and but nobody's port up, which is very important is not that what he did Tomo the the gentleman on the ground. It's what the autopsy report showed It didn't show he drive. He died from drugs, overdose of anything, he was suffocated to death. Correct. That's murder. Correct. You're absolutely right. You are right. You are absolutely right, Carl. But even if he died safe from something else, officer shall Vin still charged. The reason is is because again, I I sound like a broken record, Carl, but it doesn't matter what happened prior to Officer Shall van's actions. All that matters right now, when it comes to officer shall Vin Is the fact that George Floyd was handcuffed. He was on his stomach. He was subdued, and there was no reason for officers shall been to put his knee over George Boy's neck for five seconds. Yes, I agree. Located him the dead. There's no question about that. But But why would why would Attorney General Bar step in and say no plea deal? No plea deal. He's playing me because all of a sudden he cares about black people in the way they think I'm calling that horse crap. Well, there certainly is a political reason behind that, obviously right. And one thing, Brian, I want to say to you I had my shot today. Oh, good. Bourbon. Bourbon. Good, Just like the drink. Oh, yeah. Get some bourbon and injected into your veins, Carl. Well, I'm glad to hear that. Yeah, I feel great. Too good. A little. Nothing like a little. What do they call it? And I think it was in the movie. Dumb and Dumber. Uh, You took a little bit of Grandpa's old cough medicine to make you feel better. Just do it responsibly. Don't get behind the wheel of a car. That's all I ask. Well, listen, we're going to continue to monitor this. We're gonna continue to monitor the impeachment. I know a couple people called up and we're off topic. We've been covering the impeachment every day. We will continue to do that, by the way, quickly Programming note. We're off the air on Monday. Don't worry. We're coming back Tuesday. There's gonna be no replacement. But Monday happens to be president Monday's president's Day and I actually sadly a few weeks and I forgot about that. Donald Trump Tom, but well, luckily right now it's not Donald Trump Day on Monday, Joe Biden's Our president, but anyway, we'll be back on Tuesday. And already have a guest lined up for Tuesday. Speaking of basketball the great he's a Hall of Fame coach. He's going to be Lon Kruger, former coach of UNLV. Of course, he's doing a phenomenal job in Oklahoma. The man just knows how to win basketball games. Former NBA coaches Well, I believe the Hawks if I'm not mistaken, so long Kruger will be joining us on Tuesday, but I want to discuss a little bit. Of UNLV basketball when we come back and Not going to say a lot of positive things. Let's just put it that way. But coming up. You know, when we come back from break, we'll be joined by Sports Sex Radio's very own Ken Thompson, You can hear him 8 to 10 P.m.. Right here on K D. W N. Quickly before we go to break you and I'll be lost boys. He stayed on the road yesterday. PG Outside Berger, head coach. You want to be made some very interesting comments of his best off offensive players, so we're going to kind of break that down and talk about that a little bit. Also, the Vegas Golden Knights were in action last night actually cover the game Last night. I was out there always weird watching in NHL game, but no fans in the arena, but the night's just put up a stinker last night, they literally laid an egg. And they lost the Anaheim Mighty Ducks team. That's just not very good. Um They lost 10 yesterday, so we'll probably get into that as well. It's just such a weird sports here. It's just so weird. What's going on in the sports world? I mean, going to these NHL games in the beautiful T mobile arena, but no fans is just so bizarre did the same thing when I went to Henderson Silver Night's game at the Orleans Arena. No fans. They're either It's just It's just so weird. This is this is never gonna be normal. But as I mentioned coming up next sports radio's very own, Ken Thompson will be joining us going to start talking a little..

"Me. That didn't when I watched that as a child grant, you're born and raised in Minnesota. So you may know this. I think that the Hawks In the movie. They go against the mighty Ducks. They're they're big arch nemesis, Donna. Okay. They're a very elite team, The mighty Ducks or a rag tag group of ne'er do Wells happy? Yeah, Kind of like the sandlot. Don. I think about the sandwich that that group of kids playing hockey instead? Okay and They go against the Hawks, Now Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez. He was a part of the Hawks when he was a kid. He missed the shootout goal in his punk coach. Never let him live it down, and that coach is still there coaching for the Hawks. And then I heard the kids from the mighty Ducks started to call the Hawks. Take eaters. And for the first time in my life, I thought, uh oh, no. Are the hawks supposed to be e? Dina? You're going to say yes. Listen, I'm not trying to pick a fight with anybody from the diner. I love Dina. I brought up hockey stuff once on twin cities live another producer. Jump in my ear like yeah. Maybe we should just move on because you're charging, you know people, their rivalries that people have here and it's stuff that you're gonna make somebody happy and somebody angry at you. But it had to do with where they drew lines in the city and what players should be on what teams and they found out Donna player that was on the Hawks. Was supposed to be on the mighty ducks with how the city lines were drawn. Yeah, they're calling cake eaters, and I was like, Whoa, This just got a lot more hot topic. You didn't say you Dina hawks in the movie, But when they made that line, and they reference him being from me, Dinah being cake eater, you knew that that was The order the cake here. You knew that? That was being reference to a Dina hockey? Absolutely. She What does that term actually mean? Thank you. Yeah, Like I mean, there are better words. Yeah, I think it just means rich, you know, like, Oh, you just always having cake. Everything so fancy for you. Was always like for the rest of us. We have cake on our birthdays, Right? And you're just eating cake all the time. Right? Grand is that actor done and iron from Minister says the cake eater. Actually, first we dine in Minnesota, saying the people are so rich that they can have their cake and eat. It, too, could also refer to rich white suburban kids in general, but it's been made famous from the movie. Mightiest Mighty Ducks. Didn't know could be looked into that right. Great 5% Come from there. Yeah, minutes talking parts of it. We have mount where I'm actually from its zesty just was blooming daughters from we blow West Bloomington. She always delineates that you live in Bloomington, West Bloomington, where there are no paved streets because our horse and carriages don't separate So that do they specifically mentioned he, Dina in the movie. I don't think they say the name. He doesn't know. You're right now. Just say cake eaters multiple times. Yes, And then I looked it up. And you know it. Dina is right next to the city of Minneapolis. Right on a map. Yeah. So technically how you would draw those city lines as they were as a plot point in Mighty ducks. It would be separating Minneapolis from Dina. Where's if you lived? You know, maybe I don't know. Let's say west of Cirque sees that now you are technically Minneapolis. That's a made up geography. OK, alright. You know what I'm saying? Yes. He could have been on the Richfield side of the Dyna, which is more towards the Minneapolis side by look the house and reach field when I moved here, right? He's just said the word, right? I did was fun. He meant to say nice. And I just said right, So I thought I had to eat the cake eaters. No, so confused. But if you isolate that audio, please try right, Tony. I love lamp. All right. Can I say one more thing? Our Facebook question today is when has a movie or a TV show inspired you to actually, you know, change something in your own life. We went out and got ice skates this weekend knowing you know, and then we'll I don't know if the horse the chicken came before the egg, the horse ahead of the character. I don't know, but we got ice skates and went out on the pond after watching Mighty ducks. Last night for the first time, and I shoveled off a little circle for the kids to just skate around. And it was really, really fun. Oh, that's really funny, Eh? So you have your own pawned? Well, yeah, Jascha way do they're a couple points in our neighborhood and there and people put up lights and everything. We don't have lights in our pond. But I want to go get some because being out there with the kids last night on this frozen pond, which was already a great leap when you move to Minnesota, you think that's where people go to die, right? It doesn't make sense. Nobody does this anywhere else in the country going out on frozen lakes, right, Donna? Sure. We overcame that we went out there and ended up just being really, really lovely. And the kids are so pumped to do it again. You gotta get lights. My on my neighbor. My neighbors Kevin and Diana, their kids play hockey. So they make a rink in their yard every year, and they've got lights all around it. They got a little warming house that he built. Whoa s so it's It's just, you know, especially now embrace it. Yeah, you know, it's an outdoor activity you can do good to get fresh air. You got it. We got to go. Nice. I've got to study. Mm. That any good? Well, it poses a question. Would you rather get a 10% raise? For an extra day off per month. I think I know how you're gonna answer this, Steve and we'll see if you are with the majority or the minority charity when we come right back already. "Us up if you saw the bachelorette, last night the finale I wanna know what you think about about her pick and and I guess I wasn't watching intently, this season so I don't really know who that should it. Be, Blake yeah he's seems like a much more genuine guy should should give be. The bachelor. Oh. Shit yeah He. Whispers, too. Much He's has, enough, of a. Personality diction the bachelor there's not that many good choices this season when and by the way we're gonna. Talk about who won so if you don't, want to hear, them turn it down but I. Don't know how you I mean it's. On good Morning. America it's on everything so I don't know how you don't know, who won back though says initially on the episode last night the she thinks she could be happy with either guy. Can be happy guy both of them would be. Right choice for me I'm going to one who can't see myself without The most important decision for Like Not only found my partner in this also found. Myself so she gets, emotional knowing? This, yes in one guy, home, Blake Says that he feels lucky as. He heads off to, propose tobacco? This, is before he does, so What does the. Problem with diction here to like These people can talk Can you imagine is having house His lawyer Listen today I ask Truly incredible future together See us together Happy family Thrown in, our lives Beca Lining his, proposal, though which I think is so messed up like I in in more than one season that I've. Watched they'll stop the guy either way before the medium at the, car or they'll go to is go tell room or they'll do it tonight before you, know and they'll, say, like, look it's not going to be. You so don't even put on your suit and come out here to this thing because like it's not going to. Happen, Nope not he and I'm sure the TV. Show I'm sure that producers want her to let him walk out there and do his. Deal but I think the right thing to do if you genuinely care about any of these people used to stop them from going through the process because I think most men want to do that one time you don't even if you do it more than once unless saying that it'd be do it twice, times, whatever whatever your, life. Whatever a however transpires I think most guys that they imagine doing it one time and now this guy has got one on him that, well that didn't go, well The, rest of my life Smile See too many words already stopped him There's just one piece I am not. Ready to say goodbye Should've stopped him Quite honestly I pictured this moment standing here of the entire time for so long I think that we could be right and we could be partners So Garrett proposes she accepts and then after the rose they they make Blake watch Garrett proposed tobacco and then ask him about it as if it's not bad enough that he got rejected, and then had to live with that for, the last however long. Then, he gets to watch the actual proposal go down on TV Blake. Who just watched that with all of us for the first time Yeah that's that's difficult to watch first time I've seen it Seasons to watch so comfortable. To listen to myself yeah Has has heard as I was it's not. Easy Just never. Really ever consider I wonder you'd have. A ring in your hand Moments away from getting out me Training yourself to them you love No no you don't but I think you have to accept that it might happen if you're gonna go, on the bachelorette or the bachelor whatever it, is you have to accept that especially the bachelorette that you may wind up in the end and you. May. Wind up not getting picked right, I remember as a little kid, I used to ask.
