"Micon Ryan for example in that they would think of an answer and before all the whole class responses Use a US an absolutely unbelievable APP. It's called poll everywhere. We're basically allows you to give multiple choice diagnostic questions just throughout the lesson essentially collision Coupla things on this thing so this is fascinating stuff so just to clarify all your kids watching on laptops with that be right or is it. A combination of laptops and tablets. What what are the device. Get mainly laptops. I would say yeah. Got It and and your running powerpoint. And you're doing this. I'm not an expert. Well I'm very much a novice when it comes to google learning sweets and stuff. This is all being done through Google. The Google meat is that right. That watching this got it so once they can log on at the start or open up the session. They don't enough to hop out to go anywhere else. It's all within the single session. Is that right exactly? So when I present my screen to them then I then go I then kind of go off. Google may tap to go into a powerpoint essentially got it and then they can see your screen but I just looked at it and the same thing got it and you mentioned that your doing this powerpoint. And you've got a STYLUS and tablet. Is that right? I've just to actually a stylus that I can just put straight on my screen onto my laptop screen nice off so essentially just replicating kind of a whiteboard in the classroom and and and teaching Ns in a similar way that you normally would that be fair yet very got it got it all right and then the other thing I'm interested in because assessment for learning is one of the big things that the keeps coming up. Just tell me a little bit more about this. This was poll poll everywhere and it does that integrate into into google into google meters. Well so what that does is So I mean so. Essentially it's poke. Po L. Poll everywhere. And and so what you do. Is you download it and it can. It can integrate different powerpoint. Google slides keynote. So when you download it it just turns up as an added into your powerpoint and then when you make your presentation you just as soon as you want to ask alive question that you want responses to ban you just you clicked insert on the poll everywhere but the topic of powerpoint. Make the multiple choice question. It goes straight in there. And then when when you are when you activate your slide show and you go onto that question during the lesson one second. I just I can have a big lawnmower coming all wheel of these kinds of things. We'll keep the reality. I'm GONNA focused in. This is the reality of teaching home on exactly. So yes yes so once you activate your slide. Show you're on slide show soon as you go into the question. That question is then activated for them so they have an account which exit you would encourage them to to download the APP themselves on a laptop sometimes modal mobile devices but I encouraged him to do on the laptop for obvious reasons. They're having account as soon as you go onto that question. It then the whole everywhere activates so they can see that Christ in on this green. Why do so that said it's kind of the less confident learners on things way? More confident responses the quick responses. I then go off that screen on my own powerpoint. Give them a few minutes to answer the question. Go back on and then we can start analyzing the responses and kind of move on accordingly for Matt Basically. Wow that's and again this is. This is all ways to replicate the strength of having a class full of kids in front of you and being able to see that responses and respond accordingly. It's it's all it's this seems to be. One of. The biggest challenge is trying to replicate that in this teaching and learning from home environments and. That sounds like a really smart way to do that. Donna and the kids into like that. Yeah they do I mean with you can do so many things so you can ask for feedback at the end of your presentation and they can give you kind of ratings on how he presented things hopefully good one and you can ask them how the lesson. How can I improve the next time? So the poll everywhere APP is exceptional allows you to do lots of things and even has kind of emotion scales so that the stocks of a lesson you can ask them how the feeling today and stuff It's in fact that goes far as saying that I do. I probably do more formative assessment in these my message than I do in a normal lesson. We took pretty which is pretty crazy. I can't believe I'm saying I never would have expected it and fascinating and so yes. Sorry I interrupted you that keep going with the lesson than so. I'm I've got me around that you can do the what examples in the modeling and the cold calling using the combination of powerpoint and also through this through Google meat and then I liked the formative assessment using the poll everywhere. What's kind of setting the kids off to a bit of work on their own? How how does that work? Yes so so. When when when at the end of life teaching I would then I then kind of expectations around the task. Turn off. Turn off the video go back onto Google meats and then then provide one more opportunity for them to ask questions. They they tend to have more questions missile. What they do is they put elastic. Q. In the if they put a core and Google meets. I'm so when they're accused. We then say Micon Micon. Danny Micon Noah whoever it is and ask questions most students than lead Google I stay online and if anyone has problems than with tasks that I sat and they come back to talk to me about those issues. I also sometimes at vials. Tom Task specific students stay online if they might struggle God what are these tasks like them so just a huge huge range of tasks and obviously the kind of standard ones. I would say and this is often what I would say. Non Live lesson as well. Good old my muscle weighs my gosh. The International Sector and Dr Nassar Costs you so much so but then this is the so many of the tasks that a try and sex Obviously it's quite important to try and set some off-line tax as well. So yesterday students were video recording their own mini distance time grasping toys around. The House had smarties as coordinates but to make to make straight LINE GRAPHS. What else making cylinders. Spur for surface area of nets Yeah just just lots of kind of looking at a task that Back online trying to think of things like desma activities just unreal so good also now that they've got the feedback in the moment feature that Samos incredibly helpful. So yeah lots of different tasks I would say but I'd say the standard ones were mass. My and Dr Frost maps and would that be the same Dan if you were doing and the other fifty percents of your teaching Guay you're signing work and with what they won't be any different. Would it not be a similar kind of thing? Would you have something different for those entire license? That don't involve teaching. Yeah it's pretty similar. I mean obviously the kind of the there is more workload in a more punning involved in this scenario in this online Sara. So wait where you can get a few quick wins. Insists it's essential so with my with my master Dr Frost Mass. Of course it marks boy and then you can then you can just concentrate on hall. Kospi back above the Brogden. Just reams and beams of individual feedback. So you know you've got to take the winds where he can have and without be. Then that'd be your lane and former. Fiba. You're not kind of marking individual work. And because she's trying to set as much as you can use these platforms that mark mark automatically. You'll van what. What would he be kind of at Star? The next live teaching session. Would that be when you'd be doing a bit of Khokhlov feedback or would you be doing it and some of the way? Yeah it'd be dental of so I mean if there's if is kind of a let's say five students out of five hundred twenty five for example. The struggle with the my mind must ask but what I do is during non live lesson time I would us all those students to come back usually just popular email to all of them to sing and this online lesson. Brad lights come back so we can go through this together more slowly and you can make another go at the task for everyone else. They are they are. They will be moving on with a different task. Got It got it and two of the questions just on this. Be For each share. Few General Principles Man. And here's the phrase differentiation of concern and is it even possible in this this environment yet question apps so for one of the questions you asked me a bit late you want when you know when I was given for the ones that sense across I've got I've got something there by differentiation. I like it. Okay well let's see what about and safeguard the reason I bring. This is what I what. I'm increasingly beginning to realize I mean spoke to teaches. Poverty series is the just the whole thought of having been essentially videoing indicates homes. So what you know kids assign that bedrooms or whatever in the videos around for these live. Teaching sessions is just a bit of a nonstarter for some schools in for some teachers. Is that an issue for your students in your school or other ways around this them. Yeah it's a good question And I had thought about it. Of course it does system accent paranormal or online policy. But to be fair we have a very clear online policy that that tells us how we should talk lesson with. Ola Ola old the oldest students videos on when they're in that room so so I'm very much following school policy here and so and so I kind of kind of let that go a little bit because I want to follow school policy. I WANNA follow their consistent structures the role following inside. I'm on my job. The teachers to try to deliver content and try and get them at these asked about mass and things to the best of my ability in this platform. So that's what I'm trying to concentrate on. Basically I can see it being a big issue especially for for leadership. I understand why it is but for me. I'm just I'm simply trying to do the best that I count rebuilt the policy. Been getting fantastic. M You mentioned your general principles now is is now the time to share those with us. Yeah absolutely I mean I could tees up I could. If you've got time then yeah I will. I will go into the turf you principles. That told me a bit longer to describe than than I thought he would say. Well it's good. It's good but anyway so I'll I'll give you these these principles a bit quicker if I can and I've actually got them written down here so that hopefully goes. Everything's as quick as possible. So I've got five of them and hopefully in some of them will be very obvious and some of them might might not be so obvious and like I said before. I'm very aware that some of them just might not be feasible for some people. So yeah but I think the best important Sharon think about principle one is the chemical good learning is good learning no matter what the medium. I think if it seasonable then we've got to try not to set anything online that you would normally sat in a normal classroom environment and I know that time doesn't feasible feasible for a lot of people but but I think ultimately if people can't can't do attack would be able to do a task in the classroom environment then you know it's difficult to think about stopping it in a in a non classroom. Environment Renault Direct teacher oversight and note. No kind of pay support principle to so RICCAR. Five occasions and provide provide full currency on tasks. So I'd primary treating it like it's a new academic year essentially so Kara fights petitions clarify tasked with essentially ten times. A hundred times.

I think we've given them pretty good grades this is one that I feel and really feel like I'm having the search for negatives. They're not just popping up, but this may be one, and that's this up and coming talent. You see guys like it's such a fine line to walk because see a guy like Michael venom page, and how long were we saying you need to give him a quality opponent you to give them a guy and then you finally do he's actually not done too bad ever since that level of opponents of gone up. I thought he he's hung with them guys. Like Aaron PICO. The situation with Benson Henderson. When they brought him over it hasn't always gone their way in the direction that they are the fighters, they're putting in front of these fighters that I think they want to promote there. The next generation of fighter in. Erin, Pecos case, I think a lot of people felt after the last knockout that he just it wasn't his skills. He just needed time away. And on air inside he went to a new camp. So he did what a lot of people always come out and say, when things aren't going your way. Try something new. He went back to his wrestling. That's how he started. The fight it how he started the second round. He just got caught. But perhaps not being able to rest your head your brain, that might have the might have been just a little too much for him to come back. So soon, their certain decisions like that, Heather hearty is another person on the ballot or roster that this just despite did not go her way. And her opponent won the fight, exposing Heather's ground game. Right. It just I feel like now I know a lot of people are going to say, well, this is a me and. You can't just pick and choose matchups that way. But they do it to say that they don't do it a lie. They look at certain maps and their certain fighters. They wanna push. I don't know how they didn't see that happen. Okay. She got taken down there hardy, and it was pretty much a ten round she really didn't know how to get a certain situations. Heather Hardee's name that you really wanna wanna promote, which is a boxing champion that interesting with Anna hula Tonto fighters that have come over from the boxing world, adapted to mixed martial arts. So if I have a conduct give it would be the manner in which sometimes they promote their fighters decisions. Yeah. Well with regard to that, I think, and all objectively say, I think at this point, they're still more of an upside.

It's more than we realize might Akon real function is now a term people use all the time. But they're not just talk. I don't think they're just talking about oxidative phosphorylation. I think they're talking about broader things. And when we talk about aging, we talk about something's changing in the mitochondria as we age when you think of hallmarks of aging. We can debate the merits of some of them, but something's different in the might occur. Andrea of an eighty year old versus an eight-year-old, what are some of those changes? "Talking tech is brought to you by wicks dot com with wicks you can use artificial design intelligence to create a stunning website right from your phone in five minutes or less. Just go to wicks dot com. That's W I X dot com and create your professional website today. Everyone's Jefferson Graham here with USA day. I've been spinning a lot of time testing out the five cable TV chartered services. These streaming apps will give you a handful of channels forty fifty sixty instead of five hundred averaging around forty dollars a month instead of hundred dollars a month that you're paying to cable or satellite. They have a lot to offer in that. You don't need any equipment. You could plug them directly into your TV you can access them through Roku. Amazon streaming stick Google Chrome cast, apple TV. You don't have to pay a monthly rental for a cable box and the picture. Quality is great the ours are wonderful. And what's not to like? Well, let's see I found some my favorite is YouTube TV, which I believe has the best terms ups up to six accounts. I can access the programming for the forty dollars a month. You get fifty channels pretty much everything you want except for Nickelodeon MTV comedy, central discovery in animal planet as well as PBS, but the work around. Of course, is that all those networks have clips on regular YouTube in the interact. Well, together, the negative on YouTube TV is that it won't work in Amazon world because Amazon and Google each other. But the TV experiences better on YouTube than anywhere else. I've ever seen the menu. Has visuals the menu has visuals that makes it a lot more pleasant when you're sitting there searching for something to watch the DVR has unlimited storage and a terrific app as well. So if you're reading a review of some show, and you say, hey, that's that's pretty good you open the app, you click a button, and the next thing you've recorded the entire series a lot better than what I've gotten in cable. Migrate would be an a my. Second choice would be Hulu with live TV the Viacom channels are also missing with Hulu TV, but they do have the discovery channel's. The Hulu will work with everything apple Google, Amazon, Roku, you name it Hulas. They're the bad news is the cloud DVR will only record up to fifty hours. You could pay fifteen dollars extra for up to two hundred hours. The menu screens really nice. I think they did a really good job here. But to many of the DVR recorded shows or video on demand and don't offer the ability to go fast forward. So for that. They get a B plus next up Sony. Playstation VUE is the most expensive at forty five dollars a month the same. Viacom channels are missing while as PBS Sony will work with everything particularly well on the Amazon fire TV edition, which is the Amazon branded TV's works really nicely with their DVR. No limits, but you can only keep the pro. Grams up the twenty eight days, and you can't fast forward on FOX shows the con is that the program menu was kind of weird and the when you search you can only search by alphabet, you can actually type the whole name of a show in there. Which is pretty weird migrate would be be direct TV now, which is pretty good. I it is tied with PlayStation for a be forty dollars sixty five plus channels on only two accounts and all the missing channels are on direct TV. Now, she had more choices here. Direct TV. Now works with pretty much. Everything cloud DVR is only twenty hours stored from month, and you can pay ten dollars monthly for one hundred hours. Last place would be sling TV which is actually your best bargain. It's only twenty five dollars for up to three screens, but incredibly confusing. There's the blue offering and the orange offering you can maybe you'll find your favorite channels in. One of those offerings to giant once? They're missing would be CBS NABC. Now, if you're a fan of MSNBC, you'll have to pay five dollars extra CNBC five dollars extra T C M five dollars extra MTV and TV land five dollars extra and if you wanna DVR another five dollars. So once you add it all up, you could be paying more than you would pay with the other services devices at works on pretty much everything. So my pro is the pricing the best pricing Micon is the pricing. The most confusing of all the offerings and a a lot of add ons migrated would be a C which of these services. I don't even remember what he paid me. I was probably like don't pay me. And he's like I have to pay you. So I kinda came on. And there was like legitimate sessions where it was like, we'd meet for three hours, or whatever and that script of long since shelves, and we'll probably show it's face in twenty years when we decided to rediscover it. But since that that was sort of the kind of beginning like we work pretty well together, but I was working on my own thing, and he was working on his own thing. And we're just doing our thing and constantly bouncing off each other. And he actually approached me he's like this would be way easier. If we work together, we work well together, which is the first and most important thing because finding someone you work with tough, and it makes the process easier. But beyond that if we want this to go anywhere. Besides just our living rooms, it's so much easier to go out into the business world the investing world, the pitching world, whatever it may be with a partner. It's much less scary. You have somebody else to work with also just kind of look a little more impressive. When there's two of you. This is my writing partner like the industry is sort of set up that way, there's very few projects. Out there that are done by one person unless you're Bill Plumpton or something. But it's expected that you want to be a good team player and work with others wall. So if you come in, and there's already that establishment it just works much better. But I was a little bit hesitant. And I I'll be totally like flatly honest. There was kind of a period. Whereas like, I feel like he needs me more than I need him. And it was just purely a matter of perspective at the time. I was like I feel like Micon is better than is. I feel like he's always coming for me for consulting. But really what it was was. I haven't really opened myself to criticism and to collaboration. It was really just me helping him. And I was like, yeah. I am good at this. We should. Yeah. But wait a minute. You want it on my properties. I don't know. But was definitely selfish protective thing. And I think he asked me three times chew joint and like make a company and do a thing. And I was just like. And I think some of it was fear. It was like that's a commitment. Now, you got somebody push which is also a great part of it. But you know, when you're first starting you're you're not quite sure yet. That's also there's somebody who's going to be breathing down your neck is Don yet. So I kind of turned him down for a couple of times it was like a good year from when he first asked me until it was you know, what he's right. We work Willie. Well, together, I need someone with his drive. And he also has great ideas. We work really well together. I think I was most nervous that he just wouldn't get animation because my style's more quirky little weird kind of animated, and he's very much in the live action scifi world. And I just didn't see how we're gonna mash long-term. But if I hope in my eyes and saw the past of all the work we had already accomplished writing was there. The writing was on the wall. So we formally started the company just over two years ago, and we basically pooled all of our properties until one protective LLC, and we've kind of cherry picked which ones were most viable and just began developing. I mean, everything from rough storyboards too shorts to script writing all the way. Until like the fall on business plan pitch process. That's really good. And I pressed that you saw on yourself. Oh, this isn't just a I'm better. This is I need to open up to imagine. Especially for artists. It's weird. We can do that with art. But with other people, and I can only say that in hindsight. I think even at the time I wasn't aware of that. It was still kind of a decision that was somewhat. I mean, most of the decisions we all make our self interested..

"I mean, it it clearly see, seems like we're heading that direction at a rapid pace that this adoption at all demographic levels and all age groups is growing at equal pay. So this is clearly a a movement that's going to have a big impact on all of our lives as you look into the future. I guess it depends on what the technology evolves to. If it is a little bit more natural language in less structured language, which is is what it currently is today. If those smart speakers can become able to converse like we do. I'm Alex. Like on this podcast, then then I think we have something that will significantly impact. Everybody's life in a profound way. And and I think AI technology blended in with these smart speaker could create a conversational relationship with with these devices and that would be revolutionary, I think, because right when too hard, right. And then when VR is in every home will leave, their house will have all this technology outside again, who needs legs right at that point. What's that movie, where they, I forget the movie. It's kids moved animated movie, were they're all. On these machines around. Remember the movie, but it's like this feature movie and they're all basically Disney that people sitting on these. What do you call it? Like hovering couches almost zipping around came at. Okay, I forgot. We'll have a smart speak virtual reality overheads of a smartphone in our pocket, and we'll never communicate in real life again. All be eight, avatars and things like that. But it is. It's, it's coming all all of our lives in a big way. It's gonna take probably another five years before these things really start showing up in cars and showing up all these other types of appliances in our home. But you know, these weeks is starting to control, you know, whole Mata mation or more. You can kind of see how this is gonna develop. I'm a little optical of the automation stuff, but. It doesn't always work. But. Smart yet. Right. That's more so anyway, I wanted to mention to last couple minutes of the show up here that. The topic of how important are podcasting values versus. Cheated dean success. This is a complicated topic, and I could probably talk for an hour just on this topic alone, but we're starting to see as more money comes into this medium. I think people and we've talked about this at various times when it comes to like people buying downloads and going out there trying to cheat their way to success. But you're starting to see as big venture capital money comes into the me too. There's various platforms and players that are trying to build their future on on kind of practices that have been reserved for people that are viewed as kind of cheating. So it's it's a little bit of a complex topic to to talk about. But I think as podcasters look at platforms and what they're doing today, I think you have to really. Evaluate what they're being well and to see if they're they're practicing standard practices that are accepted in the industry and and his fair everyone, or if they're kind of cheating and cutting corners, and some platforms or trying to make things so easy to do things now that they're actually damaging their prospects, Alex, anything the say about that, or what do you mean by Mickey, either damaging their prospects? Well, I think as you look at how certain platforms are functioning today that are that are making things so easy autos emission I tunes and which ADM can do, it's free, right? But is the what is the risk that the podcast or is making about their their their future of their podcasting effort? Are they losing control? I guess. Of what they're putting out there and what they're doing and and how can they get accent if they're getting auto submitted into apple podcasts, which isn't okay. Bye apple then. Then they're getting cut out of being able to get their their apple metrics, right? So these are these are little companies are starting to do as venture capital comes into this medium or more that are trying to get a get a leg up on on the medium instead of doing what's right, and here's one unethical practice, which I see. I don't know if it's gonna continue, but people just taking other people's Micon. And putting on their form with no say what just crawling the internet and getting my show and then more ads on that very show..

"Hello again and congrats on another great episode. It was in the in this episode that you brought up the nomination of judge Brent cavenaugh into the supreme court by President Trump and mentioned a few things that was hoping you could clarify your thoughts on you mentioned, quote, activist, judges rather frequently. And I would like to know which courts Roberts burger Warren mortal, etc. When you consider to be activists versus strict constitutionalists I hear different people from different ends of the political spectrum label different courts with different behavioral bents as one of the other one or the other with next to no consistency in our academe. A funny observation Micon sitution law professor pointed out about the court is that its primary tool checking the other branches, judicial review, lesson explicit tool of the court and more a self-proclaimed power of the court given to. Itself in Marbury versus Madison eighteen three. In other words, one of the key checks, our judicial system is a less constitutional mandate as legal work figured copping. Pick of my Conlon notes would be a little Guardia. So here's just a quick link to the dot gov site for federal courts detailing the quirk of judicial review, wishy links to US courts dot gov. I would also like to know about your thoughts regarding judge cabinets role in politics since the nineteen nineties star report Bush's White House staff secretary excetera rather than discuss hopes or fears considering abortion. I wanted to know if you'd any thoughts about his m n law review article in which he made a number of propositions legally requiring prompt, Senate votes on presidential nominees, amending presidential terms, giving the president greater higher fire ability of cabinet, secretaries excetera the most controversial position held in this law review. See the PDF attachment was the judges. Belief that president should potentially be exempt from civil and criminal prosecution during their terms president, if possible. I would love to hear thoughts and this should you have time to respond looking forward to hear more from y'all at the next off Brady podcast, please take care respectfully Willie locker. I'm going to do something that I feel a lot of media don't do often enough and say that I'll speak Manitoba Jackson this as well. I feel like neither of us are experts on this particular subject and I am, you know, I know very little about Brent cabin, ause background on law. You seem to know a lot more than I do. So I'm not even going to respond to all that. When I do talk about activist judges, I guess in that I'm being a little big. They're just talking about people who on don't believe in sticking to a strict constitutional principle being, you know, like I've heard Ruth Bader Ginsburg talk about looking at foreign law rather than just the con- the US constitution or those who just outright don't believe in the second amendment that is being an activist judge. But more particular than that, you seem to have a much greater background than myself or Jack on this, but I do appreciate the Email, and that's why when we talk about this stuff like supreme court, Justice, think we go relatively short skim over it because Jack is definitely an expert on a lot of military affairs. I don't know what I'm necessarily expert in, but I do have a degree in radio and a political science of mine. Or do you know some things here and there. There. I know some economics here and there, but yeah, my primary focus is radio matters speak on that. I guess week that before we get over to same faddis as always, I wanted encourage you guys to become a member of our clubs, crate club, crate club dot US every month. A stir, out there about it but that's stir has brought these characters into the space that charge, people to do something that's basically free so I I? Don't know the tactical steps of, exactly what to do. To tell you to do what would I do if I were in your shoes. I know the thing exists like you know it exists I know I'm not paying the guy five hundred dollars in California to do it and so, I know I'm going. To jump on Google and I'm going to start. Finding out exactly what the process is and what the law says and. I'm? Just gonna you got twelve thousand dollars. Worth of education here it's worth twelve. Thousand dollars to you. To educate yourself. On this process right and so I appreciate you calling me I wish I could. Be more help the truthful answer is I don't know I know it exists and, I don't know the next steps Micon Attacked the. Lender and also and just go pretty. Sure I don't know you guys anything. Not, they're, not that motivated Okay I got because I mean th-the actually they may just go hey there's a system I'll send you there's a. Process or four forms you fill out I'll send them to you I mean it could be like that, because I'll give, you another grapple that where, they will.

"To protect gains inside a stocks or any position that you own and i think it's time to revisit that let's say you own a stock like facebook or micron or amazon or hp or something that's gone up great amounts and you want to protect your gains consider setting a trailing stop simple as that if you want to do extra i guess learning then he can start reading about how to use options to protect a position but be careful with that because you don't want to get on the wrong side of an option contract i like the idea of setting trailing stops i also liked the idea of setting trailing stops on anything that you own simply because you have to have a target on the upside and the downside of any position is facebook overbought i dunno it's trading thirty one times its earnings right now but their earnings keep increasing every year so this trailing twelve months we don't know about the next twelve months look at micron doubt stock looks like it's a great value right now it's trading under ten times its earnings so the pe ratio tomorrow they come out with their earnings and it's expected that that it's gonna be pretty rosy summer saying that the stock may go up to eighty bucks by the end of this year but i don't care about that either the reason why i'm worried about people who are worried about it is because usually have too much in it and if you've got a bunch of micron stock and you work at that company imagine getting laid off what's happened every single time micon has said that they're announcing layoffs cycle which is what they do on earnings day by the way so tomorrow would be the day if things aren't rosy it's when they say you know what didn't come out so good d ram prices or whatever it is we're off so we're going to lay off some some group of people because that's gonna make all of our investors feel warm and fuzzy there were cutting costs magin being one of the people that gets laid off and you own a bunch of micron stock so you just lost your income from the company and the.
