"Last minute in the debates is on building the wall. I know it's going to be hard Trump supporters say, You know what? I'm going to stay home or I'm just not gonna vote for him. That's when Trump says Mick Sally's a fighter. It's stomach. Sally is suffering because we see room make Sally and I still think we should vote for her because Mark Kelly's a Chai Kon business partner, but we still sweet see through that. So I think that you know, a very strategic thing was right, Trump saying. All right, What am I going to do here, Right? We're not really We're not gonna whose minds can we change? In this debate. The Biden lovers who have the Trump haters. You not changing their mind the Trump supporters that can stand by not changing their mind but who was available. The Bernie Brose And Biden fell for the trap. Hook, line and sinker. And he literally said, Hey, Bernie Brose. I only told you what you wanted to hear. It ain't happened in green new deal. I'm out. It's not my Don't. He said that I don't support the green new deal. And then when he I don't know There's no manifesto. I beat Bernie Sanders. I'm not for socialized medicine is not what I'm full. I'm not for Medicare for a no. It's a big deal. And the media did their best to hide it yesterday and to try to tell people that Trump lost because he interrupted Joe Biden several times he was toying with Biden. And for people to sit back. I'm Lavon. Don't think this is everything's on social media, people sitting back and all this is just so terrible. Are there other candidates? Oh, my God. Listen, This isn't a debate for freaking student council President. These are two guys fighting for the country. And you know what the nasty attacks the things they said. I mean, there was a point last night. We have a sound bite. Joe Biden called president racist. They said the most disgusting things about Trump the most disgusting show via He's going to get nasty. They keep pushing that fake story. There were several hoaxes last night that Joe Biden pushed that Chris Wallace, let go. The Charlottesville hoax. And and the hoax that Trump called Ah people that died in military members in World War two. You want to go there? I don't go to their visit there with the cemetery there A bunch of suckers and losers like Trump would ever say such a thing. And Biden did his damn best to do it. People don't know People aren't fun. They're not falling for this. It's not. It's not. You know what? It's good that Trump fought back because it shows again. He's a fighter. Any other politician of those Romney or George W. Bush? They'd sit in their little spot like a good little boy and just take the beating and the double team from the Democrat and the Democrat that was the moderator. That's what they would have done. And you know what? Trump said. Screw this crap. I'm fighting back. And that's why we love him. The only thing that was missing were some of the awesome lines like when Trump said to Hillary. Yeah, because you'd be in jail. I mean, we get we want that didn't have we get disappointed, can always be that way. We'll continue. What do you think? I think it was a huge win because of several things the biggest because Trump got Biden to turn his back on the Bernie Brose and now they're not going to vote for him. I think Twitter biggest thing You did break a Twitter. So here's the thing. I tweeted out that antifa dot com thing the link and I guess that's another one to the Joan Kamala party. "We're going to start out talking about the story that really exploded. After a hearing on Capitol Hill yesterday. So the Senate Armed Services committee was hearing from current and former members of the military about the military's response to sexual assaults and what they're doing to prevent those assaults military assault. Victims were also there to testify, and it seemed like a normal hearing until it was Aruna Senator Martha mcsally turned to talk. She's a Republican. She took over Senator John McCain seat after he died, and she's former military. She was the first woman in the air force to flying combat. So Mick Sally took the mic she thanked the victims. And then she made a shocking statement. I am also a military sexual assault survivor. But unlike so many Braves arrivers, I didn't report being sexually assaulted. Like, so many women and men I didn't trust the system at the time. I blame myself. I was shamed. And confused. I thought I was strong but felt powerless. The perpetrators abused their position of power in profound ways. And in one case, I was preyed upon and then raped by a superior officer bomb. Shell moment. Before. Now mic. Sally had only talked about this to a few people. Now, she was talking about it in public, and it totally changed the room mic. Sally said she was horrified at how her attempts to share her experiences were handled and that she almost left the air force over it like many victims. I felt the system was raping me all over again. Of course that all made a lot of headlines, but today, we're diving a little deeper and talking about what MC Sally said next because that was also a big deal, and it's a little complex. Here's mic. Sally. I share the disgust of the failures of the military system and many commanders who failed in their responsibilities. But as for this very reason that we must allow we must demand that commanders stay at the center of the solution and live up to the moral and legal responsibilities that come with being a commander mic. Sally who had just told her colleagues and the world that she was raped by a superior officer is saying that commanding officers should still be crucial part of the process of handling sexual assault cases in the military. This has been a major sticking point among victims and some in the Senate. So here's what we're going to cover. I we're going to give a short overview of the problem, and how the system works now second we're gonna talk about the role commanders play in that process and third. We're going to talk about proposals to fix that process. So I how big of a problem is sexual assault in the military, and how do they deal with reports? Now, the last time the Pentagon did a survey in two thousand sixteen almost fifteen thousand servicemembers said they were sexually assaulted that year, but less people are comfortable making an official report to the military that same year only about six thousand cases were officially reported in two thousand seventeen only four percent of reports ended up with someone actually getting convicted and that conviction rate is dropping in the military victims of sexual assault, basically have two options they can either file a restricted report. Or an unrestricted report a restore. Report means a victim reports the event on the DL to victim advocate. They get help coping with the assault..

"In addition to governor Ducey and sheriff Penzone and with Senator cinema. If you're just joining us. You know? Listen, we're not sixty minutes. We're MAC and Gaydos. Okay. We're not a bunch of ninety year old sitting around asking boring stuff for or the usual stuff. And so you know, what I have a little fun. We asked Senator cinema. How about how about the boots that you wore on the Senate floor? What is giving you our time. And she did not want to talk about it. And I think I was a little bit surprised MAC. I thought you were to unless I was very surprised to be very honest with you, this is a minute and a half of a nine minute interview. There's eight minutes on the border, basically. Okay. But it's interesting that we're talking about it. Now in the sense that we didn't expect the reaction and the rest of the stuff, it's like her total mood changed her her total tone change. She did not want to talk about those boots. This is not news. We're not going there. And then the rest of the stuff it's like, hey, border security. We need it. We absolutely need it. She said a lot of interesting stuff about the border. You want to hear it? You can check out our podcast. Here was just the beginning of the interview. Let's get one thing out of the way. So we can move onto. More important stuff thi- boots. Yeah. So. And she reiterated that like three or four times, correct? I know this is not news. So I'm really interested in talking about things that matter. Okay. All right fair enough, and then we moved on. But I will I will say this, and we're going to take some calls. Do we have only women? Yeah. Uh-huh. So far. I mean women are reacting to this. They're reacting to what she wore. If it was. Okay. If it was not, okay. They're reacting to but also way she handled the question. And she can handle it that way. I don't think she handled poorly. I don't think she handled you can handle it. Whatever way. I just I think the question had to be asked because there's so many people that are talking about it. And if so many people are talking about it, listen, it's worth sixty seconds of a nine minute interview. And it makes you seem so much more approachable or fun. If and again, this is just me in my secret, pull the curtain back a little bit. I wanted her to say, I'm setting a tone. There's a new there's a new wave in town for Arizona. I wanna stand out. I wanna lead Arezzo. I'd be totally on board for that. But she didn't even go down that direction. I wonder if she if she wore the boots on purpose to say don't ask me about my entire. But why would you? I mean, really why would you do that? Like, I'm wearing this. But don't ask me. I mean, I don't get the what's the end game too that she might have also been I'm just thinking ahead. And I'm thinking what she might have been thinking that if you if she answered the question all where he was your next question going to be. But you know, that's a lot of people don't consider that appropriate. And and she didn't want to get in. Maybe once you start down that ruins you start down the road. When when was it gonna stop? Well, I mean, you know, everybody wants to talk about this. So they're calling in two seven seven KTAR and in Scottsdale. What do you think and? Well, you guys are talking about how you didn't think it was any big deal. And I think that there is a tremendous gender divide in terms of how people view the boots. I think you know. Age you think ok gender. All right. I think most men are going to look at that. See a nice looking woman wearing by boots and think oh, yeah. That's great. Whereas I look at this. And I think a lot of other women do in terms of this is another example of a woman just trying to use her sexuality to get attention. And to get ahead rather than using her brains and here we are talking about her boots rather than where she stands on the issues. I think I think that she showed a tremendous suggests respect for the institution of the United States Senate. And that's just not the way to go about getting things done. If you want to be taken seriously, then dress the part. Okay. Thank you in Sandra. You're in good year. What do you think? Sandra? Well, what I said. Well, saying was that I think when she was running shoes campaigning. Sally, she did not she did not participate in. The verbal carnage. Sally was trying. To use to get elected. What's he wears? I think not only did that movie. Yes, nosy. I don't care as long as she's not nude. I don't care what she wears as long as she does the job and only women only women used that tongue the task straight and and big on other women and put them down without any sex. You'll know why she wore the boots other than that. She just liked the boats. We don't know why suggestive way she was dressed only because that's the way she dresses. If that's not your business. Your business is what does she get done as a Sinica for air? Well, said well said Sandra can do a show her anytime on this radio station that was awesome. Verbal carnage issues. I love that. Ray marnie. Let's see sandy urine. Phoenix. Hi, sandy. What do you think? Hey, so I didn't hear the interview. But it was that the first question after. Yeah. Like an icebreaker that was kind of like, hey, look at this out of the way people are talking about the boots and boy he's not received. Well, just think about this. What a major accomplishment as a first female elected, Senator of Arizona. And the first question she gets asked about her wardrobe, but I get it. But I think maybe an athlete in the interview you might have done a little different response. Maybe having said that you know, Kristen is Christian. And I think she looks fine. I don't care what she we all want the Senate to be shaken up a little bit. Maybe that's not the way to do it. But whatever, but she's also taken a lot of sheets on social media. I mean, they're comparing her to a Hooker Opole dancer, so she might a little bit prickly about this right now. The first question may not have just gone out with her saying about sandy. I mean, this this respectfully, I just don't understand why the majority of Mick Sally's campaign was about what she wore pink Tutu. And now she is wearing something that gets her attention. Wouldn't you expect some question and I'm not saying being disrespectful? We weren't going to be disrespectful. I would just assume you would expect questions about what she wore if the campaign to get her not elected was based on a pink Tutu. Now. You're you're you're wearing stuff that's getting people's attention. Why wouldn't you want to answer? My question. The previous caller sad. I don't care what she wears. She looked perfectly. Yes. Yes. I get that. But again, there's another half of the audience this. Well, and also you are now a public figure you are a Senator you are going to be noticed for what you wear what you don't wear whatever that's part of the role. And I don't think there was anything wrong with what she was wearing. I thought it was very different. Let's keep going. Yeah. To seven hundred people who want to say, some two seven seven five two seven for an issue that a lot of people say, oh, it's no big deal of heraldry. It's a big deal for a lot of people. Fifth congressional district and just saw her lead vanish, and is now behind as vote counts continue to come in and Orange County as well as young Kim who's the Republican running for the thirty ninth congressional district seat. She's only up one hundred twenty two votes currently over democrat Gil Cisneros and both of them are saying that there must be some form of voter fraud happening, and there's no evidence of voter fraud in any of this. But really the difference between how MC Sally chose to handle it. And how some of the other Republicans chose to handle it is really I opening can we just pause and here a little bit of Mick Sally's concession video that she put out everybody just called cinema and congratulated her unbecoming Arizona's first female Senator after a hard fought battle. I wish your success as she represents Amazon in the Senate side note, there is a totally cute golden retrievers sitting next to her pawing at her trying to get a handshake or a little belly, rob or something. His name is boomer very. Very sweet. And you know, like if you're going to concede, you might as well have, you know, the golden emotional support animal. Like a giant hug? Let me something about about MC Sally's gracious concession because I've heard a couple of different theories one is she did it because number one. She knew the results were free and fair. She's both won and lost tight elections in Arizona in the past. But I've also heard this idea that maybe she would end up being the Senator from Arizona anyway, because John Kyle who was put in John McCain spot kind of almost as a place holder might step down. And she would be appointed. It's clear that there are Democrats in Arizona, and there are moderates in Arizona. And there is a swing a portion of the state that may not feel really good about her trying to undermine the statewide election process. And she's she's very cognizant of that. Because I don't think we're going to see mixed Halley go away just because she lost this one specific race guys. I wanna turn to Florida where they are still counting votes. Are there is? A deadline today. Unclear whether that is going to hold is my sense and. Yeah. Depending on can you just give the latest which will no doubt be outdated by the time people here this podcast. Yeah. What a mess. You know? There's a lot that's going on there. There are a lawsuits there are rulings from various judges. And there are timelines set out by the state a walk you through a little bit of it machine. Recounts were due today at three pm. There were statewide machine recounts in three races in the governor Senate and for agriculture Commissioner of very Borton post in Florida..

"Aside and not serve out the term if he wants to go back into the lobbying business, for example, that you could have the Republican governor there Doug Ducey appoint Mick Sally to Florida. The statewide recounts for the governor and Senate races. Go on their President Trump tweeted yesterday without any evidence that votes had been forged Florida governor. And of course, the Senate candidate Rick Scott has alleged rampant fraud state. Investigators say they haven't found any. I mean, what's the impact when you know, the party leaders in a democratic society are dissing the process. Well, yeah. And you had a judge say that the rhetoric should be tamped down. And that there hasn't been any evidence of voter fraud to this point at least on a grand scale of Democrats upset over the fact that some hundred and fifty ballots were actually emailed from heavily Republican area, which is against state law in an area where that was hit by the hurricanes. They're pretty hard and the election official. There is defending that decision. So we don't know how that will shake out, but it's only one hundred and fifty votes or so, but that's something that Democrats are pointing to to say, hey, look at what's going on over there, and frankly is all mess, and when you have leaders and statewide officials and presidents saying that trying to undermine the system then no one believes the number in the results, and that is foundational to our democracy. Whereas skew as well. The state of Maryland is asking for an injunction today, they're arguing that Matt. Whitaker is not the legitimate acting attorney general now we remember President Trump fire Jeff Sessions last week or as sessions said in his letter he stepped down at the president's request. And then the president named Whitaker sessions chief of staff the acting AG over the deputy attorney general rod Rosenstein, which means that Whitaker takes over the Russia investigation, which Rosenstein had been overseeing. So I think we've laid it out there. But what what does this mean that Maryland is now saying, no, he's not legit? Well, you know, I do think it points to the fact that during the Obama administration you had a lot of lawsuits that Republican attorneys general had ramped up, and this isn't from the attorney general in the state of Maryland. But from the states, you're going to see a lot more opposition to President Trump and not only his policies. But now apparently his personnel as well. Yeah. And we just want to ask you about this remarkable series of tweets from President Trump this morning, attacking French president, Emmanuel Macron. Who over the weekend? We remember criticized trumps nationalism use of the word, which means something very important with white supremacy on the rise in and nationalism on the rise in Europe, Trump taunted him, e a tweeting things like make France Great again and tweeting about how doing World War Two. They were starting to learn German in Paris before the newest came along. What your read on this? Well, the fact is President Trump has been somebody who has taken apart something of the seventy year post World War Two security alliance in this world demanding about narrowly politics..

"All of a sudden, they're finding votes out of nowhere. Bricks gut who won by you know, it was close, but he won by a comfortable margin. Every couple of hours it goes down a little bit prior to departing for Paris today, the president incorrectly. Weighing in on the Florida Senate race, he continued his attacks throughout his transatlantic flight. He was busy must not like the movie unleashing a flurry of unsubstantiated allegations about so-called electoral corruption. Meantime, the midterm vote count continues. And while he has had time off for good behavior and to take on or Schmidt. Our national political correspondent, Steve Kornacki is still at the big board with the mid term that will not end and the very latest numbers as Dave. Hey, brian. Yeah. That's right. I mean, we still got votes coming in. You know in the reason air Zona we can start a couple of different states to talk about. Let's start in Arizona though on that Senate race right there. Look the reason the votes are still coming in his air Zona is. A very heavy mail in ballots state. So they've just collected. And they've had all these votes that were sent in in the run-up to the election. They are just slowly processing then there's this whole procedure with they get the ballot. They have to try to verify the identity of the person who sent it. So it takes time. This does happen normally in Arizona elections. But what has happened is that Kirstin cinema in the last twenty four hours or so the way the count is going. She's caught Martha Sally tonight. She extended the lead further. She now leads by twenty thousand votes statewide. There are still an awful lot of votes to be counted. In in Arizona. We can show you where they are Intel you something about them though. The bulk of the outstanding vote is in Mira county accounts for more than half of the population in the state about seventy thousand votes for mayor COPA county yet to come are from a particular collection of ballots. These ballots that were sent in before election day. They're heavily the ones that have been counted. In the last day, they seem to be favoring cinema. About seventy thousand ballots from here likely to favour cinema more than MC sallied. Then after that there's going to be about one hundred ninety five thousand that are counted from a second collection of ballots. These ballots that people brought into the polling place on election day, they had them at home. They filled them out. They brought him in on election day. These are likely Republican say to favor mic Sally more than cinema though. The extent of how much they'll favor her. That's unclear. There are also about sixty thousand from down here in Pima county. Tucson this blue area of the state were cinema has been running up the score against Mick Sally. And then there are about fifty thousand sort of from the rest of the state. So if you add all of this together, you've got oh we well over three hundred thousand ballots still to be counted. But the bottom line is cinemas taken the lead. She should do very well with these seventy thousand should do very well with these sixty thousand could hold her own with those one ninety five it is tough for Mick Sally already. Twenty thousand potentially to make this up but still it's going to take days through the weekend and into next week..

"So this is not outperforming the polls the polls it had karston cinema up. But it's remarkable given Arizona's heritage as a Republican state that this we have a basically tight Senate race there. And then in Nevada where in the Senate and the governor's race, you have Democrats significantly beating their polls Steve Doocy lessons from this region of the country. What what did Democrats figure out there in the Senate that they didn't elsewhere? Yeah. Although I got to say if Mick Sally hangs on an air Zona in it looks from this vantage point, it looks slightly more likely that mic Sally is going to win in Arizona than cinema. I Sam I'm I'm surprised by that. Because I went into election day thinking that the Democrats were going to pick off Arizona, the strength of the democrat Mira cope is almost two thirds of the state the strength there that we're seeing the same day vote. The folks who showed up on election day to vote. There seemed to be a break their toured mic Sally that I wasn't necessarily expecting their Nevada. Data in terms of dean Heller just looking at the returns in this state. The problem for him was look he pulled off something close to a political miracle to get elected in the first place in two thousand twelve remember Barack Obama one Nevada by six points in two thousand twelve huge turnout or activated. The unions all of that what saved dean Heller in twenty twelve and got him elected. Was this double digit win in wash? Oh county, you know, Reno which is near his home part of the state. The question was could he replicate that in two thousand eighteen he got blown out in wash oh county. And that was basically it he took this sort of more working class part of the state did really well the first time around and just spell the pieces. And that's why he lost that one. And I want to talk about one other democrat who I think really outperformed fundamentals, and I believe there's a slide. We can pull up about this from Minnesota. If you here in the theater what we're looking at is a map of the results in Minnesota's regularly scheduled Senate election. There were two Senate elections in Minnesota this Tuesday Democrats won both of them Amy klobuchar looks like she has won by twenty four points. She's a three term incumbent on. This is your Senator Minnesota's swing state. Now, look at all that blue on that map, all those rural counties that Amy club char one. What does she get that like Claire mccaskill who won like six counties in the state of Missouri? Doesn't get why. And and why shouldn't Democrats just run her for president and try to win forty-three states? I'm serious if you can put up a map like this in Minnesota. You ought to be able to kick Trump's ass. I if I knew I would be a political consultant make a lot more money than I do..

"The goal few golden good opportunities for Democrats, offense person cinema, a prize recruit. There was a leap primary in Arizona that had the hash out a couple of more fringe candidates before Mick Sally was able to to get into this, but what's your sense of the momentum right now in terms of driving the messaging of this debate, whatever you say about, turn out, you get a sense that MC Sally has been able to dictate the terms a little more than cinema right now on. The only thing that sort of working against on is the fact that they do have early voting. I just started in Monday and a lot of campaigns complained that it doesn't allow them to have the kind of mentioned that they want. But you did see a lot of hits on cinema this weekend, leading up to the early voting and turn out seems pretty high already. I mean, I've been watching the television in Arizona. Anna aid is just brutal. It is like one nasty attack after another for all different types of candidates. I'm sure if I was living in Arizona, I just turn my TV off. It is a lot. But you know, this is the climate and right now that voters are going out and they're and they're actually placing their their votes. And historically Republicans say it's not a good thing to have early voting, but they seem domestic. And they think that that the MC Sally's hits on cinema, accusing her of being an antiwar activist of of basically suggesting that she won't help veterans a lot of veteran and military active military servicemen living in Arizona. You know, this is a really strong line of attack against in mixed alley, capitalizing on as we know she's the first female fighter pilot. I mean, that's a pretty big thing, but it's also interesting to see how how they attack each other. I mean, it's two women, but it's been a very sexist. You know, very sexist race in a way for language that they've been using against each other subtly implied that cinema is is more girly girl versus Nick. Sally who. Has more fails strength tendencies probably going farther than most men would go against a female calendar and the pink Tutu add. We all Vernon. Yeah, you know, it's it's really interesting to see how. Really quite vicious. I mean, seeing these these two women on the stage, they really don't like each other and badging say, hypothetically cinema wins, and she's the first female Senator in Arizona and then MC Sally, the pointed to the other, bake it if I John McCain, a good chance together is a good chance of scenario that they're both United States senators this time next year, which is which is pretty wild tariff. Oh, Mary, checking in from the road in Arizona will let you get back on the campaign trail. Thanks for being here and appreciate you dial-in. Thanks, interesting twist in Arizona, John, because this this is being referred to as the year of the woman, and this is going to set new records another year of women that's going to set new records in all likelihood on on the female makeup of both the house in the Senate. This is a race in Arizona were both women are running and and gender kind of taken off the table in in a sense. But I'm interested to hear Tara say that it's being used as a weapon that there's there's some things that are probably going to be would be considered sexist. If said, via man. Well, you know, I try not to make predict. In less, I really have a firm basis making, but I, I will predict right here on this episode of powers politics. The next Senator from Arizona will be a woman, and that'll be a first Verizon by the way. That's one seven agree with you John as well. But I do in our little tour of the battlegrounds today. You see, you see Democrats who are running in different ways. One unifying theme to me that I'm continue to be intrigued by is that for as polarizing as Trump is, granted, these red states is polarizing is Trump is you don't really have any of these major candidates were running against Trump. They're running against aspects of him and running against cruise crews would had this whole riff in the debate about how much disagrees with the president on trade policies against the tariffs.
