"Business I before we go I, I wanted to mention I'd forgotten until drew Galloway, brought it up did I'd actually brought up his name the last time I was on your podcast just a guy who would really caught my attention and I think this is a message for WWe is that If you have a guy and he grows that much as soon as he's gone. It should be obvious that the creative atmosphere is a little bit stifling. If. We have a guy like that. WHO's six seven? Who looks like he's carved out a grab it and he's become a comedy act and a good one. I've got my three M B farewell to her shirt. I Love Three M. B. But when I first saw him you, he sent me as saying and it was seventeen minutes long. You know what it's like if somebody sends you something much more likely look out of it's thirty or forty seconds law. And if it's seventeen and it took me like four days. Okay. Okay. Let Me Watch and I was just looking at my screen going. The blank did this guy come from this about the drew Galloway that used to seeing as Steve? I just came from Scotland where I was part of that insane championship wrestling show drew over four thousand people. They sold out the SEC in Glasgow of month ahead of time and. Man They just. It's You Know I. Kind of all over the board here but people walked away elated and that's the word I use to Stephanie when I saw her after my family had attended annexed t show and I said Stephanie we realized we were all elated like there was something special about what we had seen and I compare that to the way. People were walking after the rumble last year I dropped my kids off in Philadelphia there was a bad bad snowstorm. So I took the wheel still be the wheel man. took the family to Philadelphia Kinda Outran the storm to make sure that I was there dropped dropped him off. And then pick them up, and so I was like a few hundred yards from the building. And no one needed to tell me how the show again I could tell by the way people will walk. That they weren't happy. And there was a shuffle. It was I guess sad shuffle rhythm when the kids got into saying it was like I. Just wait until I. Get on the highway you could tell me how it went. But I compare and contrast the way. People looked coming out of that show the way that people looked leaving. Dig over last May where I saw you know I literally drove twelve hours to see Sasha. And backyards Russell took in Tennessee with my twelve year old is like okay. We're twelve hours from home. WE'RE TWELVE HOURS FROM ORLANDO Where do you WanNa go and we decided to go see that match and I was I was so glad we did because I need those moments. Kinda remind me of why love wrestling. And That's what I see. W show. Did it really did so I just you know I. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about it. I don't think sounded like too much of a wider I think I did a good job reinforcing just how hard you hit on your comebacks. which is always a good thing. and. And the end like you and I said, we're two guys who still loved the business. We still want to see it prosper. You know always gonNA. Love you the company and in a weird way. I'm always GONNA love INS- to and I wish they'd wished. They'd give you a call every now and then just to Just to come in and talk things over and Tony Reality always as on his show on ESPN they've got to correct the facts I believe at the takeover and Brooklyn Sasha Versus Bailey the metro. No but you know but the one I went to in May last year was Sasha and. That was that was in Orlando Yeah. Oh Gotcha Wanting to do over as soon as they heard a Bailey and Sasha were in Brooklyn I would've see I had. Before we should cancel that really been part of history Yes. So you you were correct. Okay. in in correcting a mistake I had not made. I'm confused. I've failed I will learn valuable. Macabre she's coming on show and wants to get to mix point this to two guys shooting embrace about the business of mixed not better. But I'm not bitter about anything. We spend enough time in the best eleven enough care enough about to sit here and just as you had a few opinions and just share our thoughts and so we agree disagreed. There's no malice intended towards anybody. Our respect to the talent is entering today everybody that's out there 'cause I know w works out but on the best show possible that'd be in said, it's cooled blade devil's advocate and talkable ideas out there. You know we'll see what happens. But nonetheless, two guys very happy with their post ring careers enjoying life.

"You've gotta get in your mandatory cool moves. You gotta get to US and is. And I yeah I think it's hard to go out there. It's really hard to go out there and assert yourself with other people's ideas. You know when we were driving down the road and this is I hate to the guy going in my day But what I've maintained about the scripted promos is that. They don't hurt you the day you give them. You know if you show up and somebody's gotTa Promo and you'll learn it and you give it doesn't hurt you that day. But what it does is eventually relieved you of the necessity to. Constantly be thinking about your character you know like A and and a lot of you know once we got certain point here you and I were on the road a lot in. w. w. and then you kind of have this tendency I think certain point it Kinda because all almost lone wolf in a romantic way but. Like you spend a lot of time by yourself because that's where I I did. My best thinking. You know like you're now you're off and you're really dedicated to that. To the character and and if you wasn't in a car, then you'd have to find. A hotel or just find your own way of getting into that space where you were thinking about those promos. You know almost twenty, four seven and I joke around about my wife you know like literally like shaking me, you know like what I was in public and going you're cutting promos. 'cause you know my thing is be twits it I would linking but I was always in that place so that like you know if you and I got in the ring in and we had a promo together, then it was I compare it is kind of jumping around. But after I had just failed as miserably can feel anything on stage at a comedy club but six years ago if Judah Friedlander Judas a huge wrestling fan. Thirty ROCK GREAT STAND UP COMIC IF Judah hadn't been there like I don't I wouldn't have ever gotten out that stage again. That's how painful it was and he was like dude, it's not as bad as. Six and I went to the OH. God it was awfully don't get me wrong like. You gotta find a way to make people laugh he said would ordinarily for guy goes four minutes router single laugh their dead he goes but people are actually listening to you and then he took out like these index cards and carries with. It almost reminded even using index cards. It was almost like he had a like a pentium processor, his head because he had memorized like. He had just committed so many things in his mind we are your actions. You know that he didn't have to think about it. You know the cars were just kind of a crutch and he'd been through so many things and reacted so many ways that he literally had an answer for everything and I think in a sense that's the that is the guys like you and I had an advantage you don't like rock rock was such a natural. He was able to get where we got. You know years before we did. but there was give and take and there was you know Bruce Prichard tells a story about the rock coming back after the. Shredded him. You know on on raw and he goes you know they're. Doing what I'm told. And Bruce said rock willing to get chewed out and he said, yeah, he goes you're live TV. You're live. Do what you want ask for forgiveness later. And and I think Vince appreciated that type of thing. But then you and I we were I think that's what's missing the the repetition you know the muscle, it becomes part of the muscle memory that you know you're going to get into situations with people and they're not always gonNA be pleasant. Hopefully, you're in there with a guy who wants to do business with you you know who wants to create a Promos GonNa help you both that was always the ultimate goal, but I think the game has changed so much and people are so concerned about remembering. That you almost sets what I call you know memorization and recitation instead of instead of Ocean. Okay with that being said, you know like we said you're GONNA you're going to conclude you're right up with immortal words of Owen Hart. Enough's enough this time for a change. What do you start this change? I don't I don't know I. You know what I at the very least. I'm just going to put this out there again. Thank you for giving me a you know a place to talk about these things. I. You know I know triple h and Stephanie and Vince of. Busy jobs and the fact that I've offered two or three times over the last you know year to come in and talk to them four free. I don't I don't work for them. You know like you know they make action figures and you know I think they paid me a little bit of money when I came in and did summer slam but I'm not like it. If they get angry at me, they don't like my they ideas at least they've heard them like I literally live ninety minutes away last if it's traff if there's no traffic. even when they did, you know even when new car services were offered to me I I like to drive. I would be happy to take that trip I. Think they need to hear some of these viewpoints I'm not saying that the place to start is talking may but I think they could do worse than to sit down with guys who've been there and who been successful and in and talk to them about the product not confrontational way. But just in a you know in a way that's. Conducive. To talking and I gotTa Devil's advocate at least. Yeah Yeah exactly and and just if I you know impress upon them. The difficulty of wrestling in handcuffs you know not literally because they did do. But. When you're going out there and and going back to what I said in my article about..

"Think about a promo MEC is not just say for hour we're GONNA program, and like you said, I'm saying something and you know that's you might know have a general idea of what I'm going to say but you're forced to lessen. Ed So dude listening is. Just standing there, waiting to say your response because you already know you're response man you're hanging on every word you know you know you've got to answer the question or answer when I've said, and so you know like it, it may be you them to go out there and do some stuff. We'll Roman Aman I hosted the touquet. Panel should last year sometime and Roman ranges sitting right beside me and I was going back and forth with him just off the cuff and the kid is quick wedded. He's smart. He's funny. And he's just he's. He's got a lot of charisma what you just let him be himself. So if you could set the table for him, give him something to respond south of I mean you know just throw south boss to him but let let the kid do and say you know what he feels and what he wants I mean. Browse you gloss over a couple of tips to give him but let him be himself and I think I think he's trying so hard to be what they want him to be that he's having a hard time being himself, and as you know man in in all the very unique characters, you were able to create you know each one of those. People that you were was a big part of Mick Foley, just turned up and in a different direction then the other characters you created, but you basically being used so I think this kid if he's allowed to just be himself, let him go let him follow his fall on his face trying to remember promos some fell on his face, pay his dues and you know once you get into water and you think a few times if someone's GonNa, pull you out, you know thinks well, eventually he's going. To start swimming and he's going to be just fine. He has all the makings of a superstar and they call them all superstars from the get go anyway. But there's a big difference between being called a superstar because that's what the name of the town lives and actually being one in drawing money the kids got I'll potential in the world they just need to let him go and if he falters fails organically, he just picks up he himself often keeps going. Do you understand what I'm saying that though? Forced to listen. It's like our conversation you've gotTA listen to what I'm saying because then you're going to respond let the kid do that. Yeah Yeah there were Cima. There were some pivotal moments for me and you and I, and this is something I talked about a little bit in the first book in but it's not something that's common. Wrestling lure was the was a camaraderie and also of a competition in ninety seven when it was clear that we were going to be able to Kinda. Take you know we we're going to be given a chance. To Take off, that's why pointed out that to me in my mind the attitude era began and I don't even remember I. Don't know if you remember the meeting Vince called us together and he admitted that things that worked in the past were not working. We were losing the Monday night war they had a WCW really strong hand. And you're. Just starting to take off and convinced said, we're GONNA need input. As the character is gonNA work. We're GONNA need.

"By way of the broken skull ranch. This is the Steve Austin show Gimme a hail. Yeah Now here's Steve. Austin. Rationale area South Texas talking to a man coming from where you at Long Island. Yeah. Back home back home in Long Island. What's your correct sick? As he says, he's on long. Island are you an long islander on long? Island. I make it a point just say I'm on Long Island either one works but like I'm pretty specific about your on the island not. Fair enough. Anyway I'm talking to my good buddy meg. Zoli. My former travel partner. What my arch Ravel's bag today my former tag team partner former travel partner my partner in crime way back in the early nineties when we're trying to crack our good friend Diamond Dallas page on road. Ridicule UNMERCIFULLY. So anyway, I reached out to Mick because I was on his twitter account the real mick slowly, and that led me to his facebook account and. Make it a mid very impassioned plea about all things were going on and wwe and all things that are not going on in Debbie and I decided reach out to him and have a discussion about the car state of affairs and one of the things bit me and make talked about before star role in San was neither one of us want to come across has to better veterans who gripe about every single thing or could play. But I really enjoyed your post and Mick is still a big part of the company went into the Wwe Hall of fame in two thousand thirteen. Absolutely I. Think you're GONNA find a bigger fan of professional wrestling on planet Earth then Mick Foley but nonetheless tell me about this this article that you then I think you've been in about four thirty in the morning according to Your facebook page. Yeah. kind of like a second part to something. I did last week after raw I have to sometimes fight the tendency to you know to to put some social media immediately because it's a you know it's a it's a great. It's a great tool for getting the word out but sometimes, you know there's some knee jerk reactions and some complaining that really should have been thought through. So I kinda fought that last Monday I was bothered all day Tuesday and I realize this is going back last Tuesday? And realize like I'm on the verge of not watching the show. I made a decision back when I was with TNA and and two thousand That I could choose to be better and not watch the show on principle. Or I could join my kids for three hours. You know for that three hours a week they love the show and I went in and I started watching it, and that could really after having been gone I could really appreciate everything they did right all the camera shots they got in and even if I thought, your storylines could be redundant. I really came You know appreciate. the time I was spending with the kids and it's kind of a no brainer. It's Monday night and I'm home that that's where I'll be for three hours. every Monday night but. My twelve year old fossils leave about nine My fourteen year old has lost interest. And I. You know I've got a really close relationship with my daughter You know we do all kinds of things and and I'm home more than I was like I don't necessarily like need to watch the show for the watching the show and I and I realized. And the show is it's not depressing me. It's frustrating me. And and I and I when I realized that I was on the verge of not watching I, just thought that I could be like. Indicative of. What could be hundreds of thousands of other people who were on the fence like who hadn't been happy about the show for a while but we're watching it because that was their pattern and that's what they did. and so I actually texted Christner Wenski and I think this is not a concussion question or. Wrestling. Question I'm merely calling on you because you're the wisest man I know. Okay. No pressure there They said I was saying I. Think it's a political saying and it says when you lose blank, you lose blank. And then I said and it's meant to indicate that if you lose something smaller, it's representative of a larger loss to follow and like a minute later wins he comes back with. I believe you're looking for, as Ohio goes. The Nation? Like just had. And even gave me a link to the wikipedia page for the quote. Is a pretty famous quote and last week I said think of me as Iowa. Ohio Rather. And that if you lose me, you're nuts losing this one dot diehard long-term disgruntled Fan. But you are the verge of risking. I didn't WanNa say hundreds of thousands of other people but. As it turned thing I did say I was hesitant to say they don't WanNa. Make Myself Look. Try. that. Important. But when the ratings came in and turned out, they had lost hundreds of thousands of people and I'm just I felt like I had to follow up last night. Because this is the show where they're going to try to get some of those people back. And and I and someone needs to say this like. and. And you and I are kind of in the same boat that we love the company but we don't work for you know I think you do a couple of things with them. I do a couple of things with them like you're doing just turned in his His report on the History Radio City Music Hall is home schooling. The man very good job But I think what they're going to do I. Mean I'm just worried that they're going to kind kinda double down on what they have. And that we're going to see a very authority heavy show and. That's where I think he's Just, like you and me better round. Can can say guys rethink this like? Re, this might not be the answer to your problems like the problems I there there's. Injuries Seth rollins injury came at a terrible time. You Know Bronx Gone Away they they've only got I. Don't know if they have any aces of their sleeve and I just want them to rethink things I. Just WanNa. Know of my voice can be out there and and be one of those things that's batted around. before they go forward with something that I think could be a losing proposition. But when you think is going to double down on the thorny, you think they're going to employ the the authority, even more airtime within the show and a bigger part of the show. That's let's one of my concerns and the reason I called a concern is somebody asked me if you weeks ago like, wow did they ever have like a baby face you know Fig I'm say using authority here is already figure besides you and I guess Steve Austin was great baby face commissioner and and so is Rick Flair. But it's been you know that was I didn't see thousand. You did it and like two thousand and two somewhere there. So it's been fourteen years since we've had a balance. You know I always thought that there was a swing, the pendulum and that the show could be he'll heavy and then you kind of try to smooth it out. And I I just. It's I I've seen hunter and I seen the guy who breathes life into an X. T. you know, I, see Steffi and I see this a in my. I've always liked I've always liked Stephanie always thought the world of her and I see this person who does great things for be.

"I shaved his head to we get some great photos of us going on a log. Flynn with no hair and that was my signal to myself. I would never do anything in the public guy ever like ever again. That was dead set never and it was two days later. I got a phone call. I get home and I get a phone call pal. How'd you like to be a commissioner? And they are. I showed up. You know in somebody that. Hey Powell was famous man. Phone call voice which is either the best phone call you could ever take or a bunch of hassle and it was a same same. Hey Pal it was like seven. Am So charismatic. Good on the phone Abe seven. Am Average sleeps. Yeah for you. How would you like to be dude? Love I went like once. He said that he said that to me on the phone they came up with. You don't know what it was was in this. I remember this. This is Use said this to me and this is one of the things that talk about during the current show. I love the idea that I can take people back and go into mankind and give them that feeling of being the ninety seven mankind be taken back to the interview segment right. Dustin Rhodes had just done. What was that? The time. Really groundbreaking interview where he said. I'm Dustin Ronald's my bomb the son of a famous wrestler. Livin in his Dad Shadow. He referred to it as his character. I don't think he's gimmick but his character and WB wanted to do the same thing with me as mankind. Because Vince had come to realize that I had a more interesting real life story than the fictional one we created as mankind and it was one of those things again where you have to have a feel for your character you gotta fight. What you think is right. I want to go out and talk to the fans. Just as I'm talking to you and say my name is Mick. Foley used to be CACTUS. Jack I've been wearing this mask that I said I have a lot of. I've got a lot of time and effort tied up in this character and I propose that we go out unscripted. Jim Ross pulled it off. Probably nobody else could have and for years. I considered it'd be one of the top two or three three things I've ever done in the business would have. Jr asked me questions. I will answer them with one hundred percent honesty. But I'll do it in character and you probably heard this as well. I remember Al Snow telling me that the first day I was in the in. Wwe E That you couldn't really become a top guy. Vince personally became a fan and up until that night and ninety seven. That wasn't the case like I was used good. You know I'd been top of a couple of paper use. I think if you ask them into deep down is are you a fan of this guy. He would have been on the border and Jr and I just went in and again you know you you you to me that the intangibles like the magic in the air is can't be scripted. It's got it's got to be an element there and I think we lose some of that. I think with scripting you you lose a lot of the lows. You eliminate a lot of the horrible injuries but you also lose that element. You know the possibility of magic athlete scripted. That may have worked. It wouldn't have worked on a level that it did. It was like I remember you. I riding and by the time you were. You were kind of a loner by ninety seven you know so. It was unusual. That'd be we'd be riding again like the old days and I remember you saying what are they doing? Kennedy turn your baby face and I said now Steve. I think they just want people to get a better feel for the character you look. You said you'll be baby face in three weeks and the best of my knowledge. It's the only time that I can recall a turn taking place without any in ring change without any you know without any You know saving of a hero. It was just every week. They were enrolled this thing and when I told a story at even know. Vince was in the room. It was all dark and they said we're going to change tapes. I heard a voice in the darcus. Go this is outstanding and I was like that's it I'm a made man in. Wwe Like that was the most pivotal moment. I think my career when I became a star. Wwe right yeah. God naggus going. Pretty well right. I was a little nervous. Who aren't going to live up to the billing. We're doing pretty go now. Now we're we're we are living up to it but what I WANNA do. I'M GONNA run to the refrigerator. I'm going to grab an ice cold beer and I want to continue the conversation but this will be for next. Thursday. I want to talk about east. Cw I want to talk about your thoughts on Promos into stuff you were cutting NCW was just pure gold and man. I was just watching it. I mean all through your career. I mean multi-layered complex shit. I mean it was just it was crazy and so I enjoy watching all that. And let's do it so but before we leave. We know you're on the road being Thursday night. I'm in Brea Friday and Saruman Ventura and then I take a little time off to go to professional Santa Claus School in Denver. And then I pay for that trip by doing a show in Denver on Joe Because I'm still old school that way August thirty first then as you mentioned I got like a three week run in British Columbia and Alberta Canada. And we're GONNA make some os up on on the next show. We're fixing to do own twitter. He is Real Mick Foley because there are some fake. Mccoll is out there. He's a real one on twitter. Real Mick Foley. His website you can catch out his Dates for one man. Show Real Mick Foley Dot com all kinds of cool shit coming from.

"That go on smooth and last. Don't sweat it get right guard all right coming back with Mick Foley my question. Us mcelwain when you did that. what do you call it all back? Plunge okay yeah. Question is when you took the nest. He plunged to help preserve that angle so that he didn't have to blow it off at night and so that was so. I don't know well satisfactory. A feeling of accomplishment yeah Did you become addicted to that and say hey I gotta do this more. 'cause I know you just talked about moving into the future you need to use it on offense affront but did you become almost a thrill seeker pain seeker and wanted to actually diagnose you did. I was a pretty realistic. I didn't know the long term ramifications. I didn't know for example. Let me ask you this first. How far down the road were you looking in your career? Because I didn't look down the road I was living for the head of the now and waking up the next morning Steve. Even in Dallas. I gave myself close twenty six. I'd like to think I would have had the strength of character to admit that that that GIG was up. If I was twenty six I was making a decent living Lee livable apartments. You know car now you're married wasn't married I was. I would go down to the TV. Studio in Las Colinas twice a week. And I would Watch VIDEO BOB. Boban. Gerski put the put the show together and it's funny if people go back she'll world-class show. I would do several the voice overs. I produced a couple of the videos. Pretty hands on there was even a time when Bob wanted to take a vacation. They were GONNA put me in charge of directing the show. I had the background in college like I was always fascinated. I was considered a pain in the neck by some people because I was walking around saying. Can you get this camera? Shot coming along the camera. Here's the elbow and I realize my bread and butter and at that time it was the thirteen to fourteen foot length. You know back when I had a little spring in my last and even then there was very little but I realized what you ought to look into the people with the camera to help you look more like so some people go home and they watch that. Nestea plunge with mill Moscow's. It's it's a hell of a bomb but Jackie. Crockett had the perfect camera. Shot and as I hit. Show Egypt that camera and like I said when I got the WB. There was just a little bit of feeling. When I would walk through? This is what I'm trying to do it but I'm trying to accomplish. And now the now the producers are up there. What are you trying to do? What are you trying to accomplish? How can we is You know I I hadn't seen my my match with The big show in the boiler room and years my son. You is such a fan you know. I don't as a habit go back and watch my old thing Semitic But I remember Kevin remarking like he liked the way the knock on me you know from know from people. Were Not Mick. Foley is reliable. Just a big bump guy but I always wanted there to be a story you know and I remember Kevin Don really heaping praise on me after that match when I was clearly way past my physical prime and I was just about to go out for some fairly fairly extensive knee surgery. We told of complete with you know as I made it to. That made it to that wall. I made sure you know with the pommel bloody that I had that palm print and smear like he was going to leave an impression so I I yeah I was real big believer in the you know thinking visually way back. You know I think most people before and to most people's minds you brought up a meal mass. There's a story there. Were you a mill massacres fan. You know I I you know. I don't I didn't enjoy did not enjoy working with Mel and I know you know birdhouses his nephew I recognize. He's a legend drawn. Drew money everywhere that he went But he wasn't he wasn't interested in doing business that night and You know I tried to remember the store. This was a wasn't a paper of us. It was a clash of the champions. And so you're GONNA work. No mass worldwide watches beef with you nobis but WCW Woodson. We're not big picture thinkers correct. We're in Corpus Christi and the small picture is. Let's get a pop from Ludd. Latino audience bigger picture is. Here's a fulltime guy. Why are we having? He's got some promise he's the guy who wanNA use why we haven't blues on national. Tv in the clash to a guy who won't be here ever again. And I was set to mill was late missed his flight set the Russell Fargo actually picked up a victory on clash of the champions and then You know milk came in twenty twenty five minutes before the match And it was just a series of armed drags you know. Managed to get that last That one one move And I just I just wanted to kick out you know and guy caught flack from the powers of being. You were not kicking out on her. You know and I I wanted that image and I didn't get it but what I did have Jim Ross and Jim. Cornet making me look like the superstar that mill didn't like right you know I mean as as great as as Jr's you know got my windows broken half you know not far behind it and much less heralded was cactus. Jack is dead. Jimmy had that high voice wasn't a perfect TV voice. But you go back. He was quick. Yeah he knew his wrestling. He got people over and I liked people who put the product before themselves even if they had a larger than life personality. There were a lot of guys spring to mind. Cornet was one of them. Michael Hayes thought was very unheralded as an announcer as was Kevin Sullivan. Who even though? These were gimmick guys. Go out of their way to put the guys in the ring over which I try to keep in mind when I had my short stint behind the microphone. So cactus Jack Gimmick come from CACTUS. Jack was Buddhist. Who was he was CACTUS? Jack was my generic gimmick that I was only going to do long enough to become dude. Love do US born in Indiana. You grew up on Long Island. Had in the hell did you come up with Cactus Jack a loan my dad and I wrote about this in my book but I I love love love and Miss. My Dad and I'll take this opportunity to talk about. My Dad had an had a reputation in our school system as a you know as a as a disciplinarian into the fact that he had a kid who you know sometimes did things a little differently. You know was a cause of some concern. You know like because my dad was like such. You know the the crew cut you know. There's no there's no pictures in the Foley Family Vault at my dad with bell-bottoms and pork chop sideburns. You know he was the crew had guy. He was the The Athletic Director and in the book I talked about how Ward Melville High. School was the only school that didn't allow any like taunting or stomping when opponents for taking foul shots. Because they would try to do that. My Dad just look up at that crowd with you know. We had this one glance and eight hundred people stand down and CACTUS. Jack was just a game name that I came up with for my dad. When we're playing like wasn't the Internet wrestling game was the magazine wrestling game. You could send away. He cut some navarine. The Bill Apter magazine like three months. Later you've got this little board game and they would be characters that you knew were supposed to emulate WWe WWF guys characters were supposed to the dusty. Rhodes character you seri- somewhere name and then there were some space if you could fill in your own names and I was big train Foley. That's who I thought I was going to be. And My dad was Cactus Jack and so later on you know as months passed and I created this dude. Love Persona for myself. Which really was a wig in orange? Headband Pajama Top. That somehow made me feel cool. I would put it on. I would go out at night and I would have confidence that I did not have without. It sounds absolutely ridiculous but I was smoother. I Talk With Women Away. I never could as as Mickey Foley Maki phone. What were you doing the do love I was doing it as a as a I did it you know in a home movie that involved the I love some ten twenty year dude love and in eighty five and eighty six and then the the deal was you know. I became Cactus Jack. I'm sorry do love and eighty three and eighty four started wrestling in eighty five with the intention of becoming dude love when? I got good enough to earn that name then along the way I realized you know. Mother Nature's not cooperating. I'm not I'M NOT DUDE LOVE. I am this guy you know. Cactus Jack on the surface seem to be like a Western motif downtown. It turned into something completely original. Very you know a very generic sounding name created a very original concept bang. Bang come from Bang Bang Man. I love this story is just like some of the craziest things You know just come out of thin air. It was if I say you're GONNA pop and we'RE NOT GONNA people won't see you smile but if I say the name. Nasty Ned Brady. You'll know exactly what I'm talking about. He was in enhance. I never call them job guys. He was in the handsome guy who had the greatest facial features great facial expressions. Kinda like monkey whip arms. You know he was like me without. The love. Handles thinner version from Muscular Stan. Boy He's like me. Without the body weight and he sold things magnificently and let the third or fourth week. I guess you know it was November of eighty nine. I'd been turning on my partners for For three four or five weeks it was starting to catch catch on like people were actually looking forward to the tag team contests that I would lose my partner. We lose and I would then turn on that partner with the Elbow and put them out twelve thirteen feet bom here. We go and I dropped that L. Bone good one on nasty net brady and as I lay there as I sat up I the Song Love Shack B. Fifty twos came into my head and you can see it on the for all mankind. Dvd actually say Bang Bang Bang on the door. Babe ACTUALLY SING SING. Sing the lyrics and that was the last time I sang the lyrics. I but I kept Bang Bang. It was also I believe either that night or the next night the last match. I wrestled with frontier. I was in a you know went. Home was at a friend's Bachelor Party and we got hit head on by drunk driver. Those teeth history. You know And you know against my better judgment well-wishers come to the hospitals as good for wrestling with that image of the guy with the teeth. That's long gone and this is not good and then when I showed up I remember Jim. Ross gone red. Look and yeah and they gotta take what you can you got it. You gotta take your cannon so as a this is a pretty pretty good luck so much so you know. I've never really gonNA replace them. So what was your favorite Art of you to be only do love mankind. Cactus Jack them all I love you. Know what Steve. What's the difference between all of them? We we collectively you know and I'm talking about ww I'm talking about Vance. Specifically in one case hunter a great job of creating differentiation in people's minds. You know to some people they you know they say. Forget about the cell match. My favorite moment is when you did the Promo where you're transformed from mankind as CACTUS. Jack Keeping Mind that all I was doing was removing one. Shirt to reveal another and the character would wouldn't have been dead but greatly reduced head-hunter just laughed and given that you're the same guy with a different shirt eating. Go that route. He put it over like he was seeing a ghost. A larger than life superhero. I'm getting goosebumps talking about it. You know and it was one of those great moments like do or die moment. This guy either means something where he doesn't unfortunately all that yeah yeah. I saw an immense meant something quite honestly you know you go back and if you're looking for that mythical cactus Jack He's there in spots you know like a certain matches where I was as good as hunter was making me out to be but I think w w a very good job of creating this mythical character from a guy who was a very good performer but not mythical by any means until then which. One of those guys was your favorite to me. Which one of those guys was your favorite to work or which one of those guys was easiest to work? The closest to my heart was the commissioner in two thousand completely changed courses. I went home. I did believe I was retired and I went to Hershey Park and I traded out a twenty minute queue in a in the park for like the run of the place for four days meals included so I made out pretty well in the deal and I had a little you know shaving kits head. Shaver. I went home and I. I went back to the room. Shaved off all my hair. Which Bene- TR trade market long since eighty since eighty five and my son I do he was very subtle cool so I you know.

"All right. Come back with Mick Foley and now we're talking about your show and as Beijing about a good time same thing with my podcast man and my my job here. I've just entertain people I mean and it's about nothing. It's almost like a Seinfeld show Seinfeld and with great respect Jerry. Seinfeld took my neighbor. His statement paragraph conversation. Nothing but so people want to hear US talk about wrestling. Let's talk about it. Your physicality throughout your career was off the charts extremely high threshold for pain all the bumps that you probably paying the price for him. Now how you feeling? It's been a tough couple years honestly really has You know I didn't know we didn't know nearly as much about concussions first of all and I thought a concussion when something knocked you out throwing up and so I guess that had six and we come to find out that it's not just the major blows it's those cumulative blows including body Bose. Who would've known like who who would have ever guessed a backdrop on the floor? Say Can you imagine a neurologist orthopedic Guy Looking at a backdrop and a concrete floor and slow-motion? What does your body and you think about. I remember wrestling you at House shows backdrop. And you number one guy in the business and you're taking backdrops and the concrete at house shows because you were doing what you thought. You had to do tonight to pop that crowd. In retrospect man. Maybe you know. Maybe some of those decisions weren't that sound especially post two thousand four. That would have started catching up to ninety nine. I remember hunter. Actually saying to me like a volume must be like falling apart one hundred zero. He's he's actually moving around pretty good. That was like ninety eight. Yeah within about a year and it was. I was like a different human being everything hurt. I get caught up Mother Nature and Father Time. Kick my ass in a hurry. Have mother brother But you have any major surgeries yet. Did you have anything replaced? You know what? Here's the pro. Here's the problem. I went to a top. Well the neurologist. GimMe the two of them kind of this proud of this. I wanted on my epitaph. Dr Cantu from the Boston Center for Traumatic. Encephalopathy told me in no uncertain terms that I could never go in the ring again. I looked at one of the top just of the I said I can work an entire match around my left knee. That's a great wrestler line right like I can work at tire match on my left knee and he just looked he looked to Mesa Mr Folly. When you were in my office two weeks earlier struck me as a bright young man. He said I've been doing a little readings. You got a lot going on because if you think you could find another neurologist to clear you that's up to you but I'm telling you as a as a neurologist you should never be in the ring again and it was like. It was like an enormous weight off my shoulders. It really was myself because someone gives you a reason to walk. The ball was taken out of my court. It's almost like a boxing match where the guy throws in the white the White House for you. Yeah and I had the talk with edge six weeks later you know. I was driving through the mountains. North Carolina's edge lives somewhere. Here gave him a call and he was like a total peace with that decision because he realized coming back means risking paralysis. It's not a matter guts. You can't do it and I think guys like us. You need that guy telling you you can't do it because otherwise you will be sitting there. I probably could have had a good match with Dean. Ambrose right ten minutes you know with all the bells and whistles. I'M GONNA call undertaker say can I please for one match? I come up through the ranks. I had it all had all everything aligned up and I thought we had a heck of a match so it was easier for me to have the ball taken out of my hands and kind of walk over the bench and sit down what I was in Seattle resume. Nineteen drinking a little bit living to too many times. I won't tell it again. Went to hospital at nine. Am which harbors going crazy timothy speed. Stacks Moshe it and they put four liters of fluid amounts dehydrated didn't give the clearest to wrestle the next day but I was going to because of the rush may nineteen and I knew I had to hang them up and so I had to go to work. Because that's what we do your work. I remember showing up. Man Jason. The Guy who works. Wwf had to place lit up. It was beautiful building. You know they're in that arena there Katie and all the gang was there road with me. I was in a real Might have been someone who looked at me wrong or talking about damn they wanNA start crying because this is my last match limited. Got chance to tell everybody Because I needed to write off sunset because my guy said they. Do you need to get out of dodge and you need to do it now? So when did it but I remember rocky meal with three rock bottoms? Last one lay there at one two three and man. It was just like what you said. A weight was lifted off my back because it didn't go out there and put anything on line anymore and don't get me wrong. I would have kept doing it but someone the ball out of my hands so I felt that relief. Yeah and IT WAS. It was then. It was Steve. It's okay to go now because dot to say you need to get your ass out of here. Yeah so I felt like I felt relieved and now when I look back. I'm up twelve thirteen years removed and allow think if I never would've had to neck issues. I probably could have made Lisa five six. Now's pretty fiscal Bob. Yeah Yeah Oh yeah crazy much like you but a snap back bumper but now I think had I stayed in the business. 'cause I feel pretty decent right now but there are days. I feel like Shit. I'm think I would feel more like shit. Had I got that extra five or six so I'm probably cool. I am cool because I got all the business out of my system. Yeah was riding after the sunset when I did I had the sunset exit in two thousand and I had the sunset exit in two thousand four and I had it in two thousand and six. It was just I. Couldn't you know like who knew the economy was GONNA fall apart? You know like wait a second so not only is the money. I saved like not going. It's losing money in a like. And they were his sense that I'd just written a second novel which the world did not exactly you know. Line up to buy and I was like I can make as much money for a comeback match. Carlito like there was still a market right for a for a Mick Foley match. You know even if it wasn't a main event match is still something there and I kept going to that well and you know man if I could have taken a racer rewritten history. You know anything. Post two thousand six would have been off the record for sure. So what about all this stuff with Christopher Nowinski the brain institute? Whatever it's called I said I just don't know what it's called Boston Center for traumatic encephalopathy. Have you just say that continuously the can continue to say it correctly? I know he's still got a couple of times and I do? I want to do next year. Show I want to deal with some of the the the the head head trauma and I've dabbled in a little bit where I've said as long as I continue. Say The words Boston Center for traumatic flop. The I know I'm okay and a couple minutes later. Come back to the Boston Center for traumatic sympathy. And the I'll start coming up with different ways to screw up the name and it's an uncomfortable after because not everybody understands asking it up on purpose and it's kind of like a clever thing where you're getting the last for a few people like. I don't know if I'm supposed to be this guy's expense right and that's one of the things I'm looking for is like how how if I do want to make a serious statement in my show. How do I do it? And I've talked to Brennan Burns. Who's a brilliant comic from Australia and knows the wrestling business really has real good field wrestling? But if it wasn't for the fact Vince would personally hate him. And having thrown out by the end of the first day he'd been outstanding asset to the writing team and I asked him about that and he's like mate. You're GonNa get that series you gotTa Kill Killer Final fifteen and don't have a way to go from there but it's like you drive down the road. It reminds me so much of like coming up with a match for pay per view. You know like you got your your you get your sections. You got your moves especially for me. I had a limited set of moves and I had to keep thinking of different ways to combine them. Throw them in. You know different ways of making the matches exciting. And when it clicks the same way that you know the match would come together and click and you'd have that vision in your head. It's it's the same feeling of fulfillment I'm not there yet. I don't know how to I don't know how to do next year. Show yet. So how's the gray matter inside your cranium you you fucked up well you know it's it's GonNa be a waiting game. I'm donating memory. Lapses here now. Sometimes I can't I joked my damn wife as hell man sometimes Christian faster. I Kraus Room as soon forget. Why Cross it off leading modem? I get but I can't say that that's because I got hit with a bunch of steel chairs because I was a handsome guy. Probably had you know two to three concussions. Due to activity and ring just above gone wrong. Yeah so I can't chalk it up myself up and I got lit up playing football now here there a few times when they asked me how many times you've seen stars that's what would you mean like hundreds of this. You're telling me and I say stars. You See Constellation. I really used to wrestle. Undertaker in the night of charge them in that corner a bring up the the boot the chair in my hands and the percentage of people who would have known the difference between real contact and some space would be so minimal but to me if it did. If I didn't feel stars wasn't doing it right right going back in time I would have had that you know. What would it have hurt? Put not only the hand up between the my chair and when that boot but to put that chair up when those when those chairs were travelling at high speed make you went to wrestling school. And and at the core you're beginning was with Dominic Ghanouchi correct right now in the school of professional wrestling. Two questions how long was the wrestling school? And did you learn how to take a chair shut? It says no to questions all. It's the second one I know there was never. I cherish okay. We'll get the rest of the wrestling talk about a chair shot because all of a sudden there I was in Dallas Texas to go down and Tennessee and I'm forced to use a steel chair. Because as an angle ensues progresses you get in your first angle inevitably share will come into your hands on your head you gotta take or receive it. You've been trained to do either one. No neither one now so What was your experience with the Steel Chair in Dallas? That one clunky steel chair like no one even thought. Hey why don't we go to department store and buy steel chairs?.

"Figurative. What Bass here have you seen? drew McIntyre since he left. Wb what need just on TV while ago in Scotland. Oh she's got Ta Ni- Nice Kid right nice young man and seemed to be about where he should have been on the on the card he Reached out to me via social media. You know what do you think I should do? I said watch Watch WB countdown And Watch what Paul Heyman says about. Stone Cold Steve Austin when he left. Wcw How Paul Secret Wise? He took that anger that you had the frustration and let you channel it into something productive. I said watch that and learn from it and a couple of weeks later I get this thing he said would you be. Would you be willing to watch something? I said. Sure I'LL GIVE IT A. I'll give it a view tomorrow and then when I say that I who knows maybe weeks before you know what I owe a kid to watch sing now and it was like watching a different human being said. Do you think drew. Dalloway real name has that inside of my said no no. He's a mid card guy. Love Month embiid. Not a main event. Guide never will be an ten minutes check. Change my mind and and I'm not knocking. Wwe because they were working with what they thought they had. But I think he's somebody in the same way that when I left. Ww both ninety and ninety four and wanted to come back as a as a different guy to be taken more seriously. He's somebody I think the company's Ion because I was like wait a second I forgot this guy. Succession is two hundred seventy pounds. He's ripped he's a legit forget. He's a good looking kid right and I've never seen a dose in a thimble full of aggression in them and it was like all their in Scotland. I mean feeding off the crowd and announcers calling it like a like a match. It was really exciting and it. Just it that idea that if you you know if you're not happy with your your your lot in life you you you you do something about it and I think I just wanted to make a point on your show your show carry some weight you know this is like I wanted to write a wanted to write a post about it but if you go over a couple of hundred words on a post people lose interest and so If you're out there you know people check that out. You'd be shocked at how how how good that kid can be twenty nine years old. He comes back in a year or two as a man instead of a kid and doesn't let people remember him the way he was. You've probably seen you've seen good wrestlers. Come in and they just seemed almost physically shrivel. The rings a little bigger. Everybody's six six to seventy unless you got your head that you absolutely positively belong there you just talent. You shrivel up. Psychologically I'm talking to the Legend Mick Foley. We're talking about all kinds of bullshit here down. Show take a boss to college. But we're SPA..

"And it goes on and on and on all you gotTa do is go to Real Mick Foley Dot Com to see where Jack that where if you WANNA go check out his show. My question to you is do. What are you doing you stark raving crazy? You're supposed be kicking it now. He works your `self off. You beat up your body now chairs to the head. You should be kicking back picking your spots. You hit on have odds hard. You know the dates are coming in. I've been working on this for five years. I went from where I couldn't get anybody to go to the show. I mean it was frustrating. I'd do a book signing and I'd have a good line. I do a minor league baseball game dateline when I asked me. Hey you're going to go to my my show. I could tell people were lying to me about creating chooses not to go to the show because it. It doesn't seem to make sense. It seems like a giant leap would actually is like a little sidestepping all these guys and they really do. I never should've called the comedy. Should've gone spoken word right. Shoulda coined a phrase like W W with so what was in store regressing centric storytelling show. That's hard to put on a marquee that there are large humorous. But don't have to be right. I can make a porn. I can get a little and I make sure if I'm going to get sensitive or sentimental that I got something really shallow lined up to dip my toe into and I'll make points you know all I try to cover some serious territory but I also got a sears territory. I mean is there any life lessons in Iraq because I mean God Dang? With many times we've been around together out lot of our friends that have died drugs bullshit stuff like Atta meeting getting life lessons in your show man. I mean in one or paying to see that they wanted to just hear McCain. I used to say I WANNA make people think as much as I wanna make laugh and then when I get a real look at the economy and how tough some people had. It became a big believer in the power of the smile. Like you know what they can get the heaviness somewhere else. It's like with my books. People picked up little lessons about life. I'M NOT GONNA force a lesson on people the one lesson I try to pass on as you don't let the situation define for you. What being successes like I always wrestlemainia moments? Become part of like it's part of the lexicon refer to things as wrestlemainia moment. I had I think where I was doing a Santa Claus appearance because I have a weakness is You know for Santa and I was doing it for a friend of mine. Who has a side project with Norah? Jones I come in I show up late. I almost laughed personnel loud the GPS. Tell me. I'm on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and I can see the over. May APPs on the verge of leaving and I looked in the mirror and I said if you don't go back in there and I got my beer bleach rainman. Yeah Skins all underneath you. Don't go back in there. Do the best job you can. You don't deserve to wear this and so similar lessons what you doing in wrestling. And then when I walked in it was like it was like entering the land of is you know and I walk up there. I say Milo piece Nor Jones goes to sing silent night and I'm looking at a microphone and or Jones about eight feet away from me and I thought myself. If you don't walk up there starts singing silent. Santa Claus Rican Rican Jack and that was like I'm looking at is about four hundred people there and it's like this is a wrestlemainia moment. This is spills as good as anything ever did inside the ring. That's really the only lesson I have is that you can take a guy who used to perform in front of tens of thousands and put them in some case in front of tons of times. Usually in the hundreds I need double digits. They have a good time. You can't have a single crowd. But I'm I'm I'm enjoying it and I go back. I have to go back to two thousand and I was the commissioner to think of a time when this much thown and from from just a financial perspective and one of the problems. You were probably like me. I said wonder the JR and I've stayed friends all these years. Because I was not shy about making that two zero three phone call when I thought the paycheck to this alive last any of the boys out there listening to this podcast got rattled cage sometimes in regards to payoffs and another quick segue always tell gas. He's these youngsters coming up. Always ask the house. No you're spot on the card who you work with damage. When it comes to bug for promotion you will have concrete evidence and you will have learned the system continue east. I know I know we're GONNA go off and a lot of segues here and but I know people want to hear us talk wrestling and you had zach on a few weeks ago and I just. I felt like I had to write something about the Zack Ryder case and I was going to call it. The tragedy Zack Ryder. And then I watch the evening news and saw real tragedies I and I'm calling it the sad case of sad story. Zack Ryder the saddest. Part about that whole situation is when I asked him what happened. He said I don't know I said you never asked. And he shook his head and he said No. And it's like it's almost expected like you need the big tasks like above and beyond what you can do in the ring. You need to make that knock on the door in state your case. In his in his situation he had a rock solid case. He going to merchandise. He got himself over on Youtube. Yeah I mean you know show. Yeah I'll is e C and people responded say maybe didn't have legs that the tweet. Yeah he would have to. But you need to give some giants. Yeah Kid got himself over and and so that is a lesson for everybody there. Is that You know when you first come in. Of course you're humble and you expect you know you're you're you're happy to be there but the business doesn't do well with guys who are just happy to be. You got to paint a target on another guy ups back and go after that guy you gotta take up a spot. I mean you don't really this is me looking back and reflecting But I mean as you were God. We went down the road. Together with Hungary's ill literally. We are starving. Always always trying to make it one notch on card. I mean when you grew up as a fan of the business and Jack Lives on Long Island before we roll out in Long Island. Anyway you just want you want to be a pro wrestler right. Yeah you're always the main event you know what Steve. I'm going to the different categories. I've been told for so many years. I just didn't accept that that was my day program. You they beat you down so many naysayers but but I I never I never saw myself as being a champion like I honestly when you say was my program a success like a you are. We wrestled you. Were going onto the you know you were going on to the next next big thing. When I had the rock it was because he was about to wrestle you I I knew my role and I accepted it to this day when people say like don't do you think you don't get you don't do does it bother you. Don't get enough credit. You know you're not up there with the. I think you do get cry. Naysayers while you're in trench. Oh yeah a lot of them. Yeah same but the the the the endgame was making it making a contribution and then having the best possible matches could whether and then decided whether or not the guy that I worked. The program was with more worth more to the company. I I saw I honestly I saw myself as a as a role player up until you know ninety you know until I got the WB and and saw ninety ninety six. I can compete with the big boys. I remember taking that plane. Ride from my. I try out and I was a little bit intimidated and I had to sit back and think we're second. I wrestled with about two thirds of these guys. You know like yeah. I'm going into business with the undertaker but deep down. He's the same guy road with like six years six years ago against it changes that much had level. Pep Talk to myself. That's an it's an intimidating situation. So then tell me these phone calls you would have Jim Ross. Change must be personally. I use the word lexicon I come back with different asleep. This is a wrestling broadcast. There's some some bitch. What the fuck are they talking about? That they could tell about steel tears to this day. I can't say that word trepidation. Without thinking of you I was like why. Are you being served trepidation? Even used it in my hall of fame. Speech Trepidation number one bestselling. All they were hesitant. I got trepidation from Randy Macho man savage Promo trepidation is the word of the day and went on to discussing his match with whoever it was a time. Tell me about these phone calls with Jim. Ross how heated would they get? Because I talked to Jim all the time and he says you talk she loves to death. Obviously yeah So wonderful did you stand. You're fairly hot fairly fairly heavy. But not too frequently right so they always made something. They always made a difference. They're always meant something. When I called pissing a motor in every paycheck biggish bots somewhere around ninety eight. I think when I when I realized that I was a I think I realized I was a player for the world. Got The message you know right at on that Monday night. Show where we're all the people. Turn the channel and You know I did stay case in. Vince respected that. Jr would go to the vents and then they were usually built simple extra in a couple of cases. You know a lot of extra extra money and I think that was. His big battle is anything. You'd be part of the ring which is fighting for what you thought you you were worth you know and speaking of what you were when. I came into the WWF. Ringmaster I I'd been down in WCW. And I'll talk about ww money. When I love fair made about two seventy five my first year in the WWF amid about one hundred grand lesson that then. I started getting hot that next year. Yeah and real hot coming on pretty fast and this was back in the day when they would bring Your W. Two or ten ninety whatever your tax return forms at the bill and hand it to you and it was TV taping a Monday night raw. I remember like it was yesterday a miniature things. I forgot from all of steel chairs. I remember this. I got my ten ninety nine or whatever you call. It looked at it. It said X. amount of dollars man. I thought I'd really smoked everybody's ass that porn come up the curve and my paid-in reflect that and I was walking around and pretty bad mood and jr comes up to me. Goes what's going on as managers. Got My gimmick. I said I don't believe this what I made. I should have made this. Well let me talk to you. Oh man he went Tokyo man. You'll man made up the difference and that was my big boost on the way to starting to make the coin that would come back in the day but a voice you know unstated my case and was pretty firm on it. Because I thought I'd had a killer here. Yeah and so but that was my first case. Really haven't start bucking for a promotion. But if you don't Bu- nick to youngsters out there you gotta buck because you gotta learn..

Wcw because they worked themselves into a situation where you couldn't be top guy unless you're making top guy money but you couldn't make top guy money unless you were top guy so the kind of married themselves to the same eight top guys so for people like me. A young stunning Steve. Austin that can be kinda frustrating and so also loneliness of being away from home and so you do little things to pass the time like taking bets on how long it would take to psychologically torment and crack another human being in this case. Diamond Dallas page one of the greatest guys the world. And that's like Steve. How long it's GonNa take. It's like oh I think we crack this open. Three Days Steve. I think we could do one like I say like you learned like everyone's got secrecy as they travel you know Dallas would some tack the blinds to the wall. So it's not to let and even the faintest people like you know man-made or sunlight that's and that's the problem it's an interesting. The problem was he was one of those random guys who like to be naked in the motel rope. And even more so really. Wasn't this naked. She would wear Saran wrap around his knees which she claimed. Help lubricate the joints and Steven. I sat down to Dallas next to him and try to have a heart. I Go Dallas Stephen. I would feel more comfortable if you wear clothes in the room. And he looked at me. Like is the most absurd request ever asked and they simply said Bro. They get in the way to this day. I ever do idea what that means. Because we've got more stories than that we'll get to the polls in a second at Lebatardshow but Mike Ryan is making an allegation here. That apple purposely makes its old phones crap out so that you have to buy new phones it would be a fairly stugatz business model while. It's not an allegation. Dan was in the end. Finally they had to pay out for a lawsuit to which I say totally worth it for Apple. Filing makes the story credible. Yes what was appealing a half a half a billion dollars. Considering how many phones they sell and how much they have to pay out individually comes out to like twenty dollars per person. They got you effective business. Plan making sure because I've been there. I've been suspicious a couple of times older models of phones where I'm like man. It's funny that my phone started to act up. The second new iphone comes out. All our fears are realized they were doing it on purpose and Bravo. You've got me worth it. A half a billion dollars apple that's right. That is a hell of a plan to buy them. This is the punishment. That's this is the punishment for that is that even for that. I'm wondering what they want. Apple makes makes a day because that that's probably high apple a day probably makes more than ability. No Yeah Apple makes one hundred sixty three million dollars a day. Is THAT IN PROFIT. Just profit alone. One million every eight point eight minutes and Geez. That is crazy. I was yeah. That's they're doing well. What's revenue this going? Well for apple this apple. Yeah they might be onto something they got a future at Lebatardshow if you want to vote on the polls what you have here. Are you judging the coffers at other coffers judging you? I feel like that's going on everywhere. Man Yeah Right. I also feel the urge to not rubbed my face on television. I still touch my face. Impossible not to but right now. I have a huge itch on my nose in the cameras on me and I can't do it. Duck to the shadows. I've done it a million times today. I got mad at someone for coughing while I was coughing. I read my Johnson's columnist that Johnson doesn't lie man. I go back with Mike you over. Twenty twenty five years so Comes from my Johnson. Take you to the bank. Well nobody tells me anything here so thank you. Hey before I leave. Can I just give props to drew McIntyre please man? I love what he did Last night I thought that was really dramatic as it. It's very believable. Isa Great opponent for Brock but even more importantly being a great opponent I think the transformation he underwent when he left the company as part of three Mb and I love three Mb. I thought to myself I. I've seen drew McIntyre as a main event guy. I didn't buy it. This is going back five. Six seven years. I do by him as a low card. Comedy figure even gave away or sold at the fully garage sale for Christmas magic mice. Three M. B. T shirt. Was that big of a fan but thought this is drew. Mac. And that's good against drew McIntyre and within a week or two after leaving. I got a message drew. And he said MIC like. I know we don't know each other that well but I respect your opinion. I'm trying something different. I apologize in advance for the language. But it's an eighteen and older audience. And he I I so I check it out. I press play. And there's a guy who looks like drew McIntyre but is in a sense a different human being cutting this impassioned promo that's full of emotion and full of life and I'm looking at my screen like going. Where did this come from and where you know where where was this? And what is this guy capable of doing and the first thing I did and this is not something I do. I can count the number times done this on one hand of a couple of fingers leftover. I texted triple H and said Hunter. I know he just left here. But you need to keep an eye on drew McIntyre and I think I use that phrase. He's almost like an entirely different human being and so for any guy who leaves. Wb and we all reserve the right to you. Know to cash in on what we've done to work the indies to sell our gimmicks. No one will think less of us for that but while doing that simultaneously. Keep your eye on long-term game what he did is inspirational. It should be like a roadmap for everyone who leaves him believes they're capable of doing something better. I think yeah I really. I really admire what he did. He put in the work. He transformed himself now. He's a veritable wrestlemainia main event performer. And I just want to give props to a guy who did things could've done the easy route and chose not to and and it's paid off for him you know make drew is definitely a guy worthy of that praise and I and I loved him in with two other guys who have done what is close to the impossible which is be at the bottom and work their way back to the topic. Ginger in many ways did the same thing you know he left. He came back. He caught Vince his eye and he was able to work his way. Back to the top of ending Wrestlemainia like drew will but be able to get a championship around his waist. And then I believe what the MS did was. Probably one of the most impossible things he was at the top then got knocked all the way back to them and rose back again to become one of the most entertaining people in that entire company. So three people come to mind as you know Mick once you're at the bottom of that ladder and the wwe or once you leave. It is nearly impossible to get back on Vinci's radar and those three guys did especially drew. Because when you look at drew he fits the Vince. You know pro wrestler sports entertainer to a t and when he when people realize this guy could win the rumble. It all made perfect sense. You know like Oh. This is beautiful like the same people yelling at their screen. Thinking Brock was going to go through. All thirty guys. Were jumping up for joy and I'm going to add another name to that list and I know he didn't do it in. Wwe But cody Rhodes is a sign that everyone should go out there and try to get what they think they're worth and it's clear that you're not going to get that opportunity in one place then go out there and and make it happen. You know. It's a another textbook example of Believing in yourself. I we only have about a minute before we say goodbye. "Love's regularly Abu when we first started doing these shows together in two thousand nine like I was rare. I rarely drank. You know in a business wrestling you know when I broke in the eighties. That was really very rare to have somebody who didn't drink very much Sometimes not at all months of time but those first shows Bruce and I would look out of the crowd and Worcester Massachusetts USA sixteen people which makes it worse right and then I'm actually down into three drinks just to get the courage to get up there. Were like what are we gonNA do like scared. And then you get to the US to bomb on purpose you know in wrestling. I'd go out there. I'd say Chris Jericho I let loose promo. I'd say there's a road agent. I'm Jack Lots used to get upset. If you Kinda went into business yourself and all I wanted to do is get a rise out of Jack. Lonza Chris Jericho could tell me how how he reacted. It didn't matter that was tanking interview but a seventeen eighteen thousand people But I was glad to do that. But when it's out of your hand and you're you not succeeding when you mean to succeed. Yeah man it's very intimidating you can watch Mick Foley be unfazed unphased up on stage and you can see him tonight at the at the Ontario Improv. And then Oxnard levity live. Tomorrow night's H.. "And in Pop Warner it's not like pros and popcorn when you beat a team during the season you're going to beat him again and four weeks later and they beat the shit out of us and over to a played seven years. Pop Warner had two chances lost each one and I understood it like I got it I was I was unhappy about it but I understood what losing was and this notion of like. What's it's worse like when they enact the slaughter rule like when you're playing baseball Pony League baseball and you're down thirteen to zero and it's like the fifth inning and they pull the plug and another although team to go home? Isn't that worse like making then. So what you lose twenty one to two. It's a funny story that notion of like pulling the plug on it is more like we gotta gotTa leave. Now I've never had what I what I do. They have in baseball. What deals where? It's just interminably long like kick could theoretically just go on forever. I can understand I can understand that I don't know how I feel. I even have a mercy rule of some sorts of amateur wrestling guys down. I don't know sixteen or eighteen points. They pull the plug on that. Well I'm fine with a guys in the corner and there's as a Tko because he's just got the ropes holding them up and the guys loading bombs on him in that kind of stuff. But I just mean in general just getting comfortable with the notion of losing sometimes is we try to shield our kids from it. They need it. It's good get some Cadillac. Little losing like you said it goes a long way does and conversely now you can get through this as a cheap plug from my show By virtue but you of having just died on stage on many occasions when Judah freelander was taking me around and Tuta I've got a friend with mega do five minutes and so I wasn't performing wrestling material for wrestling vans and I'm up there trying to compete with some of the best guys you know in the comedy world and and just dying like if I had that those experiences I couldn't appreciate the shows that go well and I think that Ontario and Ochsner will you. You know some nights are better than others but It's been a long time since I felt that I like I wanted to stage opened up and swallow me whole but had how did not experience those those times. I wouldn't appreciate the good time so I think there is some beset for losing in I'm states in life in in sports. Yeah I mean let's not build your world around it but you remember very clearly losing as a as a senior in high school and the championship wrestling. I remember very well. Losing to the chats. Where chiefs the Northridge Nights? When I was nine nine and thirteen I remember it? Well seared in your one hundred I was. I was just thinking about that member of the Grand Slam video. I played little league knows a loss in the championship game. We lost that a game and I remember vividly details. I'm racking my brain to remember games. We Want Ryan remember number imprint. Like oh right I did. Did you know the rocks. Dad passed that re- I know he's a little older than we are. But I don't know sometimes wrestlers hang out for a while the any experience with him but yeah yeah I did it. I knew his dad. Pretty well Because I started in eighty five and rocky Johnson was still wrestling at at the time so I would see him on many independent shows and I just saw him last last summer. Was the last time probably five six months ago a guy did a show in Florida Florida and he had ABC raising money for You know cancer research any put together for the signing as the Rock and sock connection two point. Oh He's a rock and I had had a famous tag team me and rocky and we really enjoyed hanging out and talking and he was a really good guy and I read with a man. Duane Wayne had a beautiful tribute to him. It was just really touching. Yeah and You know my heart goes out to dwayne and his mom and his family and friends so yeah really really a sad loss. He was a great guy is rock one of those guys where we all kind of know who he is like I. I don't think we had a a clear focused snapshot of Bill Cosby for instance for many years and I don't know that I really know who Bill Clinton is feeling all for that but put Dirac. I was saying the other day someone says to me like what's Dr Dr drew like. I'm like he's exactly how you think he is. He's he's Dr Drew. Because you've heard Dr to. That's who he is. That's when you meet. Some of these guys is sometimes. There's a little chasm if you hang around with Tucker Carlson a little bit. You'll he's exactly how he is. That's exactly how Tucker Carlson Tucker Carlson. It had dinner with Tucker Carlson. And he's just like Tucker Carlson. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference and I don't think Ellen is quite that way. Let's I'll put it to you that way and there's a few that are that way. Jimmy Kimmel's Jimmy Kimmel. That's just who he is Is The rock the rock or is there something we need to now. I don't think you'd be seen any big secrets dropping from the rockies. You know he's pretty much an open book Shares a lot of his real life thoughts sudden instagram. Ramat facebook I think all of us can try to put our best foot forward to annoy the public. You know Look everyone takes a shit. Every every once in a while or gets drunker has foibles. Runabout I'm saying is is like his vibe. His work ethic Yeah everyone liked being around him You know when he comes back a You know he just everyone around him to succeed. Succeeded to have a little bit of that post rock glow of them. You know well I also find that guys I find guys that like that inspiring and I know Oh like a lot of people have that with someone was injured in the war and they're now learning to walk again and that's that's all good but let's focus on the able bodied eight heroes for a second. The guys who just do it all and never never never slow down. Just they just do everything and it kind of makes you realize you could be dealing half of what the Ron and I don't know man I mean. I said half mercy rule on the rocks schedule. Yeah but it makes you want to up your game versus the guy who's on his fifteenth lawsuit. Those those people I love to see you know it's like I watch Kevin Hart special. I don't think Kevin Hart so funny. Stand up I love that guy's motives. I love it yes. Nobody creates eight more. What's that does Kevin know that you don't think he's a good standard? I would say this I I have no idea I will never tell him. I respect in a in a way I have more respect for the guy is that I don't think are particularly gifted. Because they're willing like they're making it got happened you know. He tells a lot of stories in like family stories and stuff like that. I prefer for a little little more of a punchline it somewhere sprinkle then through the story but I appreciate the guys motor. I love that guys I. It's no coincidence at him in the rock have been a nine fill. The guys look like a couple of radio stations. They're like where are your people as like. I don't people that's part of what I love about doing these shows. It's like the purest form of entertainment. It's just you they get a rental car you drive to the GIG and it's just you and a microphone and And I think people can tell whether you put your work in you know like you get that You get a free pass for five or ten minutes but after that. I think you'd better be good. You know it's funny you say free. Are you pass for five or ten minutes but you you mean you mean eighty seconds. You're you're not if you don't hear any laughter after and five or ten minutes. That's that's a long that's out there. You realize when you go to comedy or whatever and it's like oh the EMC's going to do seven minutes. It's and they're going to bring you up when you're watching them. They're up there for a while. Those that that says yes seven minute. Yeah like just in the past days like this can't be ten minutes away over can can get up there with a little clock like he did exactly ten so yeah go and do ten unprepared minutes Let alone you know trying to do an hour written you know it's If you're not prepared I see I. I don't try to begrudge anybody their success but I worked it's really hard to do. Work hard to make stories as good as they can be and try to figure out ways to make them better from night tonight so when the guys come out and just do a Q.. And A. That seems seems like the Lazy Man's one man show like there's no sense of commitment whatsoever because you don't really stand any chance of failing ailing up there when its just a Q.. And A. so I like people to know where they come out that I'm working on it and then it's important for me that it's as good as it can be well. You know it's weird. I from being a stand up from doing stand up and from doing morning radio. I realize that I've had the job with everyone's two biggest biggest fears and phobias getting up super early and when we used to do morning radio show. They don't go. Like what time do you start six. Am All five fifty nine and they'd go. What time do you have to get up and go? I don't know four thirty four forty five. Oh my God do you go to six. PM Right and then. Dan when you tell people you do stand up they go. Oh my God I would die I would I would never I could never I could never and I always go you could. You could take a little while but you could they go. I would never say literally stand up and more getting up super early in the morning daunting as spheres. That's the classic Seinfeld Joke. The biggest fears are public speaking and dying and they're more afraid of public speaking than dying. Basically they'd rather be in the cast in the casket been standing next to the casket giving the eulogy right. Oh Yeah that's I I've been in position I remember going to a book signing by Madeleine Albright and she called me raise my hand and I went Cindy Brady on remember the episode of the Brady Bunch where the red lights out and Cindy freezing. He's just bachelor of the chairs. Really scare like there were no words that came out and then she's about to pick someone else and this is me with all these years you know on the microphone in wrestling and I was terrified. I finally finally did blurt out my question but I can understand why people Yeah Yeah it's It's definitely a fear. Failing not being interesting not being funny. It's better just to keep your hand down for most of the public. There you forget you see the thing that's kind of interesting about stand up or public speaking or whatever is it's invisible invisible so when you're trying to lose weight you have a scale you can measure yourself if you're working out you can see yourself in the mirror if you know when when I did did construction when I started. I didn't know what of Kings Doug was or a top player trimmer header. I didn't know any you that and now I know it so I know I didn't and now I know I know it. The the comfort part where they put the mic on you or whatever I could remember I remember once being in the mall and like Sherman Oaks at like nineteen and they had like the local news to find out. Who's doing the Christmas shopping? And we're GONNA talk and like you. I WanNa talk to tell us what they put the mic in front of me. It's like I was like Argyle and I'm a pretty good talker and I just I just couldn't do it in front of the thing when I used to do Kevin and and being and they'd go go out onto the streets talk with. I couldn't do a man on the street just I couldn't even have a conversation. I mean I could but it was a lot of weird anxiety Heidi and show you just have to just go through it. And it's invisible on your head and you never get a certification. No one ever passed. There's no pass your name get bonded and licentious cents is nothing you just do it and then you are and and you probably feel that process Mick Foley I do. I know you're talking about being terrified. Rubio's got it. Bruce Pritchard as one of the biggest wrestling podcasts out there and he'd addressed audiences a fifteen twenty thousand brother..

"Of requests for Katie Lindahl to return she is back this week. Katie linen, all joins me on the state of wrestling is a huge podcast and before we get to any of it. We gotta talk to our guest this week. And that's Mick Foley. Now, this interview was obviously taped before ever Lucien, and we talked about. The Twitter deletion. I think Mick Foley is now back on Twitter. But and we also talked about Becky Lynch calling yourself the man this interview was actually taped before my interview with Becky Lynch that aired last week. So now, we all know, she's called the man, I wouldn't you know mic was early on the trend, and I went and she calling yourself demand. Obviously, I know now, but at the time of this recording it was a different story, but Mick deleted his Twitter, which I didn't even realize it's back now, I believe but for a while it was deleted. So we talk about that we go deep into female singer songwriters, which probably some of you guys are gonna love and some of you guys are going to be like, what are we talking about this for? But we do get a lot of insight Mick talks about his physical change and why he appeared to be completely refreshed and a different Mick Foley. When he showed up on raw recently. We talk about. We talk about when he's gotten frustrated with WWE in the facts is that he sent over. We talk about the work. He's done his handwriting. We've got a lot to break down with Mick Foley. And we do it all here on the podcast here. He is why wait any longer this week on not Sam wrestling. It's my pal the hardcore legend cactus, Jack dude love mankind. Mrs Foley's, baby. Boy, the general manager the Commissioner here. He is Mick Foley. Then not Sam wrestling interview. It's WWE night at the New Jersey Devils here in Newark. And the man himself the legend the hardcore legend, I feel like you've moved beyond just being the hardcore legend into just the legend of really's you. I think you've gotta specify still. Yeah. Especially if you're like in places, like Australia or legend, mate, right? And then you then someone holds the door for some of the legends. So they throw the word around a little too liberally. I liked the specification. Yeah. I do. I do. It doesn't separate you from other legends as much as it puts you in a different. Exactly. Yes. We'll make folly your year. And I'm glad you're here because I was gonna I was hoping that I would talk to you in a public place. I because I was gonna just shoot you something privately all the hell in a cell comeback the Ron on. Yeah. Like, I've known you for a long time. It was a different McFaul was that. I just thought you were. I was moving a little better. Right moving awesome. Your your promo is on fire. Like, it was like may Foley from Egypt had this firing. Right. Thank you. I hadn't. I don't know if I'd seen in a while. It's just like it was exciting. Fully was back two things about that. Elias was awesome. Because you're talking about a kind of a conduit who wasn't even involved in the match, but his character so strong that I was able to kinda segue from him and his singing to building up a match and making that referee position as important as possible. Let's just disregard the fact that I did count to three at one point in the match. It's almost that's a skill man Roman second who was like there was so much speed going down that I couldn't stop it. I'm like, I just ruined them out. Just ruined the match, but I did come back with a you know, like I had an intent and purpose..
