"That kind of money as a guarantee, you've got to use these guys a lot. And they're none of them are kids. They all got, they wanted limited schedules and things of that nature. They could spend more time at home or a more specifically more time off the road. And if you're going to pay that kind of cash, you need to get every date, squeeze every amount of blood out of the turnip that you can. Well, we know we've talked about Kevin Nash's return to WWE in 2002. We did it last year here on our 20 year look back. Let's talk about the unfortunate end of that run though. He blew his knee out on live Monday Night Raw. And that really is the end of this NWO rerun, if you will. What do you remember of that moment? I mean, you're on the call for this. You've been on the call for some pretty big major moments. And I know you've been pretty clear in saying Kevin Nash is one of your best friends. And you see one of your best friends go down with a pretty debilitating injury right in the middle of a match when you're trying to breathe new life into this angle, the seemingly on life support, you just gotta feel bad for the guy here in this moment, no? Heartbreaking. Yeah, heartbreaking. Because you knew coming back was going to be challenging. Again, we've established Kevin getting in the business later than norm. His knees running that hardwood, all those years because you got to think he had high school basketball, he had college basketball, he ran a lot on hard surfaces and so it didn't surprise me that he was going to he had knee problems. Certainly didn't know there were going to be that severe. And I believe that it was just so depressing and so, you know, it's just tough. It had knee surgeries before. So he knew what he was up against, but it was just such bad timing. And to me it was a little heartbreaking because I always been a proponent of Kevin's fan of his which comes down to strange people because at times he could give you problems. But that's just working with people, Connie. Right. Worked with highly motivated alpha male type people and Kevin certainly checked all those boxes. But it was just a sad thing because it showed you he's got to start all over. He's got to do all the rehab. And it was a very distressing and very and just sad. God damn it. Just was horrible. You don't want to see anybody get hurt. Especially a former athlete that, you know, is doing what he's got to do to keep running a living. And now he's going to start back over and rehab and get all this body back ready. And that's not easy, because you're rebuilding these. You rebuilding those joints and boy, that's a daunting task. Well said, he's going to return in early 2003 and the story is that Vince actually wanted him to come back here as diesel. We know he comes back as Kevin Nash, but do you think these are coming back in O three could have worked? If it booked correctly, sure. But I had no issues with Kevin ash thing. He had established amazing name identity and street Cred, shall we say, as Kevin? So I had no problem with him coming back as Kevin Nash because that's what, you know, those big ratings that WCW was getting was a great exposure for Kevin. And it enhanced his name identity over that period of time. So I didn't have a problem with that situation whatsoever. With a diesel thing of work, probably. But Kevin Nash would work too. Because he had already had that resume updated from his NWO days. Kevin is immediately put back in the top spots, building towards a match with Triple H for the world title. I'm sure he had a lot of fun here. Working with his opal and he gets a shot at hunter and Judgment Day. It ends in a DQ that builds to a match at bad blood and Hell in a Cell match. And the build for this doesn't go all that great. It's the side of the Mick Foley as needed to put the match over the top. He's made the special guest referee and of course he's had some pretty memorable hill in the sales. Hunter gets the win and everyone's bleeding, including the referee after a sledgehammer shot and a pedigree for the rear and for the win. Kevin Nash, just two weeks later, is going to be losing the test in under two minutes. Crazy. It's hard to look at that logically. And I understand a Tess is younger. He was healthier in some ways he was healthier. In some ways he wasn't. There you go. And I thought that was just I understand that logic, you're trying to get a young guy over big guy. Fairly athletic. You know, part of that Canadian connection that I hired, but it was just, I don't know. It was just, it doesn't make any sense. I'm just trying to figure out, was the logic? Right. And I can't see it even to this very day where the logic was in Kevin losing the test. And two minutes. Short matches. Just illogical. A month

"First time, he said to me, I changed my plans. And you're not in them. And you'll be you'll be out of here in 30 days. Of course I had a 90 day out in my contract, so I brought that up and you didn't make him happy. But I got paid for it 90 days to 30. But hell, I had no job. You're not in my plans. I'm making plans to change and you're not in my plans or something on the slides. That's a hell of a thing to hear on the morning. You drive back home and tell little jam as well. Here we go again, honey. Buckle up. I don't know what's going to happen next, but we got each other. And luckily for she and I both say to save money and she had a child, she was a flight attendant, make a couple bucks. So, but there again couldn't Dodge that bullet. Right. And I think probably Vince just could tell Ricky. I changed my mind. Right. I want to go a different way. Some talents are one of Ricky's Spock and started making an argument that he's too oatmeal. You see plain. I would never say that because I think he was an asset. Sometimes you got to look beyond certain things to determine one's value to your company. You know, and I thought that when I hired Mick Foley, you want a guy that's going to be good in the locker room that could help some of the younger guys make adjustments in adapt. And certainly a guy like Ricky steamboat is a value. To have in any locker room, then now dinner now. I must say then now and forever, but you know what I'm saying? I know that you said it perfectly. Vince would tell us if he was here. I changed my mind. Right. But thinking behind those words, I'm going to make a little bit of an analogy here, so humor me. Okay. I thought years ago, when Dolph Ziggler cashed in, the money in the bank, the night after WrestleMania, and beat Alberto Del Rio. It's one of the loudest pops I've ever heard. And I think that was like ten years ago. And fairly quickly afterwards, he had a concussion, and he was on the shelf for a bit. And it felt like they never put him in that same spot again. He never got that same opportunity again. And I remember people at the time saying, maybe Vince thinks he's injury prone. Maybe Vince doesn't think he can rely on him. He can count on him. And if you go back here to 1987, on the heels of what everyone is saying is the greatest match in WWF history. And he's the Victor, and he's the champion, and he's trying to grow Vince being he more than ever on the heels of WrestleMania three. They're taking out full two page spreads in industry trades, trying to sell arena business because they want to not, hey, if we can do one show, why not too, if we can do two, why not three? If we can do three, why not four? So he's trying to zigzag the entire country. And when one of his quote unquote pillars that he's built all this equity in this match and now the championship says I need to take some time off, it makes me think maybe Vince thought he's not reliable. Do you think that whole injury prone not reliable thing is something Vince really feels? Well, it's a good convenient excuse. Okay. Quite frankly. I don't know. I don't know how I can't thank for how it felt, but it would be scary, but to be able to do that. Yeah. I don't know, man. Bookers have used the same small assortment of excuses since the day I got in the business in 1974. And it's just their creative flexibilities that they create for themselves. Right. And sometimes you got to have a reason. Because remember, you're not just communicating with steamboat here. You're communicating with the entire roster. If this can happen to steamboat, then why can't it happen to me? Touch scenario. So. It's just one of those short lists of or change the plans. I'm going to have a heel champion. I want to discuss hot. We're going to get him all these hot. I want to go there. Whatever. There's a million stories. I've heard them all. But steamboat just fell out of grace for this, and I'm not sure exactly why. And let's just perceived that the champion asking for time off of all things to be with this newborn son is unacceptable. And I know most people are not going to agree with that because I don't agree with it either. Right. You always wanted a talent to come from home from home back to work in a better frame of mind than they left. Return to the locker room, positive, rested, excited to be there, et cetera, et cetera. And so you give if you give them that opportunity to do that and to keep their home life positive, you're much better off. Much better off in the long haul. It may mean booking and mad men TV, it may necessitate change, but in any event, that's the way to go. You got to give guys time to regenerate. And that's why I think AEW in the long haul is going to do really what it really well. Cause our schedule is conducive to wrestlers that have made some money or are making money, making good money as a matter of fact here at AEW. And, you know, they're just a day a week. Now you got to travel. So there's these factor that in, which I conveniently do for my own body. But finally, the house on Tuesday mornings are Tuesdays, and I get back home on Thursdays. That's my week. Right. And I embrace that schedule. I'm thankful for it. It's a good deal. So if it works for me at 71 years of age, it sure as hell ought to work for some of these young dudes that are tanning and wetting their hair and getting more tattoos and things of that nature. We can take time out of their tattoo schedule to be able to be home, train, and Paul run and I worked Sunday as we do every Sunday, on the book. The next book is working title JR 50, but I don't know if that's going to be it or not. Everybody's got an opinion. He found everybody gets in the Booker's room. Why don't we call it this? Like no, you have Becky and live immediately attack each other. Right. I don't know. Then Becky goes to the manhandle slim, but live counters with an arm drag and then hits Becky with oblivion. So she gets a little moment there. Right. So she's gonna lose next week, which Becky kinda knows sold. She just rolled out of the ring and backstage, Vince asked theory what he thought of this match, and again, theory says it was great. And Vince says, you have to expect the unexpected. And then he and then he gets upset at theory for looking that way. Why are you looking that way? He's got dumb face. Stop looking that way, damn it. What the hell is going on? Yeah. Vince goes for a handshake, but then he slaps theory hard in the face. Slaps the shit out of him. Yeah. And then Vince sits back down and says, you've got a lot to learn. You're right. I can slap you in any fucking second. Right. Be prepared for that. Yeah. There is like, you've got a lot to learn. It's 2021. I'm going to call my attorney. Right. My boss just bits on brand national team. What are you nuts? This is the 90s. I'm gonna sue you. Like, what is this? What? Is this? I don't know. No one could explain it. No one. Right. He's like, Vince McMahon, this is your life. Live. On Monday Night Raw. This is my life. Good God. I'll take this young man under my cock wing and teach him everything you need to know. Finally, the main event we have Kevin Owens versus Big E with Seth Rollins on commentary, rooting for Big E for obvious reasons. Owens gets kicked out of the ring and Seth taunts him, so Owen slaps him in the face, and he dares Seth to do something back. Later in the match, Owens acts like he's gonna go on the top turnbuckle, but then he leaves the ring and pummel Seth, and his strategy work, because then Seth got in the ring and attacked Owens for the DQ, smart, smart heel. Owens leaves the ring, Seth super kicks biggie and hits him with a curb stomp. And then Mike Rome, I guess I think it was Mike Rome. He announces that, you know, Kevin Owens has been added to the championship match for the day one pay per view. And then Rollins throws a fit. He was like he didn't realize what he had done, because he snapped. He went so crazy that he didn't realize and then he throws a fit lined with rage for the end of the show. So much for being the architect. Idiot. All right, that's the end of raw. Oh, God. All right, let's get trying to eat bad food. I know, you know. Let's give awards. Who is your worst dressed?
