"Day. Not only one. Yeah. So we knew his connection. Yes. By the sound of it when you when you hit the button. Yeah. At repel at he, you know, what's funny. He was very respectful of me. Yeah. Very respectful, and then, but he would he would call you out. And he would call out all the other DJ argue with them Marvin Lynch, but he liked to call and argue with me like just to take the past. It wasn't serious. Yeah. He just liked to do that. And I would give it back. Yeah. Yeah. But in even say, Michelle visage, why are you talking about Madonna like that I love Donna jus use said, and he's just so funny. Well, you know, it was interesting doing morning drive radio with with all the Lynn from her. So never forget Lind from. And this is of course, you guys in the tri-state area in tri-state area. If you don't know reaching what e- guts are guest. She would've tri-state area. Is it is she Connecticut, New Jersey and New York's ri- facts. Yeah. And we could calls from all over the tri-state area. We can call it the quad state nad, Pennsylvania. We wanted to really do you think if we got out to Pennsylvania with radio, no? Was that you know because people in south jersey, which are technically jersey get Philadelphia stations. You don't get New York state by south Jersey's always considered Philly. Right. Right. So there's there's your geography lesson for the. Yeah. Now, you went to a party. Now. I want to know about this party without naming names. This is going to be hard. Well, okay. I can help you in the post. We can we can cut the names out. If you slip. Why I tell you what? Oh listeners this. We're going gonna do. Okay. Why don't you say the names, and then our producer here? Alex will all my maybe he will like do a walk every time you say someone's name, even that would be kinda hot. So. No. But no, he's. But it's still too dangerous because I can tell you who was there and Diane Warren your, Diana. She was there whose house was it Simon Cowles. Yes. And in where was it Malibu? And what were you doing at time in CAL's? Mouse nervous on swingers party is all the. Sweating to Hollywood types. Goodness. Well, you were going gonna come with me. And then you had stuff to do. And it was too far. So I went alone. And I'm not really, I know I'm really kind of gregarious and outspoken, but when it comes to walking in a place where I feel less than I don't have that. That's where my inner to to Michelle not on. No, the exter- not extortionist was a called the X Pierce person. Oh, the X inexpert. Yes. That's where she kinda crawls into her shell in the introvert comes out really only in those situations where I feel less than and I'm the only one that's making myself. Let me ask you this were your breasts exposed now, I use all my trust. You sent me up. Well, because I mean, if your tits route that isn't that kind of like, your superman outfit is it's kind of a it's an conversation starters. Yes. So their mind. Her bay because it was to be televised. Yeah. In the war, preorder, shed hours. I had to cover them, right? And the homeless Lou. Hopefully. Yeah. And it was like everything you've gone the ocean on the ocean. You heard the waves lapping and entertaining, Adam Lambert was there, and I spent most of the night. Okay. All the night hanging out without him. Who was my savior? And I just adore him. And he talks a lot, and I talk a lot. So it was really good. But there is some people there that it was like like Paul Anka was there and I had never met him. And I didn't last night. But it was interesting to see somebody who is, you know, a legend and still wanting to go to these things I saw Abdul who looked fan tastic. Did you guys talk definitely talked to her? She was actually she came over me. Gimme big hub, so sweets. She had the most gorgeous red tuxedo on with vest underneath the talks normally I'll just do the jacket. She had the three piece set you with a black blouse. She looked gorgeous. I was just tell. Her how much you loved her show your show the Hollywood bowl Reuss that it was one of the going onto her..

"Little shot there. Michelle visage as regular on rupaul drag race, but, but I wanted to play that because of the fact that you said that drag gave you power in other areas of your life too. Yeah. My therapist said, you know, the power that you feel in drag or my superman or wonder woman. You know, you can access that at any time I tell you, I, it had never occurred to me because you know you put the outfit on and immediately people see you differently. They treat you differently, but I have that same power out of drag which is monumental. It's huge that concept. And so that's why that's such an important piece of tape right there. And I want the kids in the show the contestants want them to understand that that is huge. And for anyone listening, you can access that power be at anytime. You are an extension of the power that created the whole universe. Oh, but you know. Most people have forgotten that. Conveniently, they've conveniently forgotten that stop playing small, play your greatness, do your greatness. I think most people don't play their greatness because it takes a lot of responsibility. You have to be mindful and you have to gift to take care of yourself. Yeah, but you know, like believing in your greatness that can be scary. I think that's one of the things that the contestants confront. So often like every Queen I think in every season is talked about being in her own head too much. Yes. And that's that's true for all of us. It takes time and it takes practice, you know. But you know, I grew up in San Diego and I had to play small so that I didn't attract too much attention or too much ridicule. It takes a lot of power to fend off a lot of that ridicule because other people feel threatened. Even the story with my father, leaving us on the front porch. I think that had more to do with he him. He not being able to accept the amount of love these kids had for him. You know, it was too much love so he'd rather go and drink or go play the horses. And I have to ask myself that same question, where am I playing? Small small, you know, I'm about to do this new series on Netflix called AJ in the Queen, and I'm acting in drag and out of dragon it, but it's terrifying me because I have to act on on camera in a way of never have before where I'm playing a human being with human feelings, and a lot of my defenses are going to be down to to portray this character. And it's, that's what's so scary about it. But you know what I've conjured this thing up and I say, bring it on. I haven't come this far to wimp out and and not play my greatness and my greatness being in this case, being my. Vulnerability. Yeah. One more question about your drag in particular because in the book guru you write that you're drag has been less about looking like a woman than about pushing back against certain conceptions of masculinity. Is that right? Absolutely. Punk, it drag his punk rock drag says to the density who now I must sailor. Oh, now I'm a a glamorous synthetic creature of feminine proportions. You know. But you know, might drive never just like a woman. I only dress in drag and there are people men who dress in dry, like Elvis and prince and Michael Jackson, where they've, you know, David Bowie and James Brown where they take in a persona and just in heightened it. And of course there are female track queens, like Dolly Parton, latoya, Jackson, and share, and Diana Ross. You know where they take a concept and they turn the dial up to a hundred on it. That's what drag is. But drag is also executive realness. I mean, people who work in an office or or at a fast food place. They put on an outfit and go and present themselves. But you know, my thing has been, why not do it all the time? Why not? I don't even dress up on Halloween. I think that's amateur night. I dress up every day except Holloway. Well, we're talking with rupaul Charles repulsed new book is called guru and got a lot more when we come back from the brakes hanging ever. Just a minute. I'm Meghna Chakrabarti. This is on point. Beam..

"But uh why is that important why as meditation import even if it is just a minute five minutes why is that important so i'm of the view that a minute absolutely counts wise important too big reasons one your training your brain to focus so basic meditation works like this you sit eyes closed and keep moment if he want you sit in a comfortable position doesn't have to be a crosslegged you can do it if you want i'm not limber enough to do that second step is an early three steps the second step is to bring your full attention to the feeling of your breath coming in and going out there let me just interrupt this to say there are millions of kind sir at attention but what i am describing his basic mindfulness medley out the second step is to bring your full attention to the feeling of your breath coming in and going out you pick a spot where its most prominent like your knows your chester belly and then the third step is as soon as you try to do this your minds going to go nuts we you know why did i miss steven season seventeen of repulse drag race where to gerbils run while not ah blah blah the whole game is just to notice oh i got distracted at the start again and again and again and every time you do that is a bicep curl for your brain and shows up on the brain scans also it is a radical act you were breaking a lifetime's habit of walking around in a fog of rumination and projection and selfabsorption and you're actually just focusing on what's happening right now so every time you noticed you become distracted and start again two big benefits accrue one is you are training your brain to focus we live in an era of just like it's been called the info blitz grayton text tweets status updates constantly hitting us and so the brain has gotten very distracted will the mind has become very distract will meditation hacks that and the second benefit is even bigger one which is it's sometimes called mindfulness the ability to see what's happening in your head without getting carried away by when you see that you become distracted usually it's by.
