"We only contacted 70% of those people. It's gotten so bad that Barbara for rare, has announced this new policy to encourage people to answer all the questions were also piloting, offering a $20 gift card as an incentive for full participation. In the interview process, which, as I've noted, takes over an hour, it can be stressful. And it requires that folks look through their calendars, work schedules and other documents. Dr. Kelly, what are we doing here? It defies logic. Randy and I really would ask these people. What are you hoping to accomplish by this? It is one thing to talk about doing contact. Tracing when you have a deadly Infectious disease, for example, meningitis. Commonly we will do this with meningitis. I happened on a college campus say somebody in a college dorm becomes ill with meningitis. The mortality rate for bacterial meningitis is extraordinarily high. If people don't get ivy antibiotics within a number of hours, the outcomes are disastrous and devastating. So and that's a highly contagious disease. So we will commonly say, Oh my gosh, get the roommate and get them to, you know, get people tested very, very quickly. That is not the case with covert 19 just like it's not the case with influenza or most frankly, other infectious diseases and most viruses. So the idea of contact tracing for something with a legality, morbidity and mortality as low as it is, for fork over 19 defies logic, and I think it's still terror. Instead, it makes people believe that they are obligated to turn their private information over to the government that they that they are risk of. Sort of, you know, having Some sort of untoward impact, or, you know, deadly harm on another. If they don't give this information over, and I really have to ask, what is the endgame with this? Ah, And I would also ask the people who are sort of wanting to be more scared are terrified of this particular disease and really are pro testing. What is your endgame? They're saying, you know, I just go in and I get tested on Monday and I'm negative. Great. Should I get tested again Monday afternoon or Monday night or Tuesday morning or Tuesday night or what? When does it end? Because if you are testing people who have no symptoms Then how frequently are you going to test them? Because they could have been exposed to minutes after they walk out of that testing lab. The virus is out there. So unless you intend to test people daily or hourly, or or I don't even know it's so preposterous. I don't even know what to suggest. So why are we testing people who are asymptomatic? Why are we testing? You know, contact tracing people when None of the people that came in contact with our ills. Itjust it is. It is absolutely illogical. It doesn't follow the science. We've never done it before in all of public health. Andi, I just don't know what playbook these people are reading from. It definitely seems like we're flying blind, and we're not just doing that We're spending 1,000,000 in just in the city of Los Angeles were spending millions of dollars a day on these programs, and we're not helping out the businesses. We forced to shut down and the people that we forced out of work. You better believe if we added up the total cost of this and don't you let me be very clear. This is not the cost of covert 19. This is the cost of the botched response. DeKoven 19. We have small businesses that have put on hold dollars into plexiglass shields and stickies on the floor to tell people which way to move and removing 50% of their tables and swabbing down table top of hiring people to do disinfecting every five minutes. The sorts of things were put in place. Have been unbelievably onerous and have cost business owners tremendous amounts that if their business owners that are even allowed to be open for for business, then we're spending all this money on testing. We're spending all this money on contact tracing. We're spending. We're hiring hand over 50 public health. You know of people to try to work out these different programs to what end? None of it is a benefit to the people of California or anywhere else in the country that is doing this. Meanwhile, the small businesses are hurting big time schools are closed. Kids are suffering it honestly. Is really an embarrassment. At this point. I have never denied that this virus exists. But the great news is we know who the people are who are at risk, Randy. We know those risk categories. We know they're people, generally not just over the age of 65. But really over 70. You know, the median age of the people in this country who have died of covert 19 is 76 years old. Which is not to say that that's not tragic. But we know who the people are. We know the people who are younger than that, who have significant co morbidity like obesity and diabetes and heart disease and emphysema. We can control that We can rally around and protect and isolate those people with are harming the vast, vast majority. Who are it is, you know, really very low risk, if any risk at all. If you have a question for Dr Kelly Victory, give us a call right now. The call. The phones are already blowing up. Because well, you're here. Dr. Kelly, Victor, and people want to ask you a whole bunch of questions. 800 to 2 to K A. B. C 1 800 to 2 to 5 to 2 to let's start with Steve and Huntington Beach. You're on with Dr Kelly. Yes. Hello, Dark Kelly. Thanks for taking my call. I just have a brief specific question. If I may, and that is this, I just recently had heart surgery. Now, if they open up allowed me to have a heart surgery after a long delay And my cardiologists who I just can't believe how wonderful he is. He told me and no in specific terms to not wear a mask. If I can help it he doesn't want I have problems breathing and I apologize. If my speech is a little Scattered a little bit, but he doesn't want me breathing back carbon dioxide. But anyway, it's a breathing problem without getting into all the medical specifics of it. So my question is this I haven't heard opposed before. Perhaps it has. But what can I do? Ah, older guy. I don't really have a lot of time to spirit does. But what can people like myself? I have problems breathing due to get legislation passed to get some kind of an exception. For Ah, not having to wear a mask at every institution. We walk into a restaurant are otherwise. Could you speak to that, please? Sure, and you, and the good news is that you don't need to get legislation passed because it already exist. If you haven't identified medical condition for which your physician has recommended that it would be military, you know, potentially harmful for you to wear a mask that you don't need to wear one you could. There are actually forms that you can have feel like there's a certificate that you can get from your physician because that already exists and it falls under the Americans with Disabilities Act so you cannot be forced to wear My mask in public or in any place if you have that exemption, and furthermore, it's nobody's business for you even to have to explain what that condition is because that's protected under the Medical Information Act. S so now you'd would fall into Steve one of those high risk categories on the basis. It sounds like of your age in your underlying heart on lung conditions. So you would want to be one of those people to take some extra care not to be exposed to people who you think might be ill. The same kinds of precautions you would take during influenza season or to not get exposed to other viruses. That could make you particularly sicker than others. But rest assured you don't need to pass legislation had already exists under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and you could get, for example, very simply a quick note from your doctor to keep in your wallet that says, I'm recommending that Steve not wear a mask due to his underlying health conditions. Steve. Thanks so much for the call, and we wish you the absolute best 800 to 2 to K A. B. To talk more about this, story, of Geoffrey Owens Cosby show actress showed up at a trader. Joes well working at? A trader Joe's somebody recognize them takes a picture some reason this goes viral and prompts this discussion about, actors, having real jobs in fact on Twitter today, in response, to this there is a hash tag that is trending it's actors with day jobs, there was a court filing on Friday that. Has shed light on details. Coming out of that New Mexico. Compound that is now being described as a terrorist compound Yeah and when you compare. What we saw in this. Court filing on Friday to the way this story has been covered in some circles it's bizarre that there's an ignorant of the facts that were detailed in court So we knew that the arrested people Sarraj WADA's his sisters one of the sisters. Husbands and then another Islamic wife Jany Lavelle who was married. To this guy and eleven, children all taken into custody and a few days later we knew that they were looking specifically for a missing three year old that's why they went to. That compound in the first place the missing three year old which was the ringleaders, son, who had some sort of, problems at birth deformity or. Some. Special needs that the father believed was part of a demonic possession one of the people, in the compound reached out. To grandpa on, social media saying hey we're here and we're starving and we're in New Mexico And that's how the ball got rolling that's what prompted the original rate on this compound so they took, these eleven kids they eventually found the corpse. Of the three year old son and the issues now are what sort of charges are. Going to be filed because the state case was dropped because, the judge the investigators had ten days to make some, procedural thing happened and it didn't happen so the FBI comes in they swoop in. And immediately charge them federally and the ringleader in all of this Suraj wa she's not eligible for. Release because of his outstanding warrant from Georgia that was related. To the kidnapping of his, three year old today eventually found the body of and he's also I guess his Islamic wife was taken into custody because she happened to be a native. Of Haiti and she'd been taken into custody by ice so court transcripts are telling, us, more an FBI agent testified, that two of the malnourished Children said that. They had been trained in advanced. Firearms handling had been instructed to shoot law enforcement personnel when the time came and that they would be instructed in the future to attack specific targets like teachers schools banks and other corrupt institutions yeah now the prosecutor says that they were harboring in this compound an arsenal. Of weapons neighbors said that, the group was using a shooting range on the compound excessively they've they seized a DVD that. Describes how to build an untraceable salt rifle at home there was a book on the psychology of combat there were a picture of a group that was bent on terrorist attacks because it was clearly I mean everything about this home home this compound was lending itself to being, a training facility for this sort of thing. There was also a letter uncovered to Suraj his brother the letter encourage the brother to Follow Allah quoting here until he makes you die as a martyr as you wanted in the only way is by joining the righteous the letter, added, that, the brother should take. All. Your, money out of the Bank and we'll bring you guns. Showing that they wanted. To grow their fighting they wanted to get more people into their terrorist sect. A terrorist attack or planning on it yes and we were exchanging documents back and. Completely not our terror plan yes vis phases of a terrorist attack handwritten document included instructions. For. The one time terrorist providing detailed instructions on. Determining ideal attack locations using chokepoints defending safe havens escaping, perimeter rings, detecting sniper positions Now the problem is that there are some who have painted this as sort of a. Just, a off the grid family who. Was having a hard time without electricity now. This was like a terrorist camp oh I know some interviews with the children shed some more light statements that That he told the children that he wished to die, and g hod as a martyr they all. Jokingly would talk about dying and jihad children said that they. Were told to confront corrupt institutions like military CIA American schools and they wanted to, reveal, the truth to, these places they talk about if the police ever. Came to the property they were to defend the property using. Firearms they found several guns located at the end of the tunnel, the kids told officials the tunnel service in escape route should authorities raid the compound hey.
