"We kind of had a conversation about it. I mean off camera at that point. Michelle was kind of like paired up with graham. Holly was with michael And vienna was with. Casey and i was with kurt and so it was kind of like our our little group we had formed and we were just trying to lot. There was other ones in the house that we were trying to kind of like weed out and get rid of just like as you think and so. She decided that she wanted to set that one out because she was a mom and to me of course having a son and i've had to deal with this because he in the eighth grade and in high school totally showed his friends his mom making out on youtube and that it was super funny so you know he just was like. Hey mom. guess. What i'm doing and i'm like what he's like. I'm like you're in class. Why are you calling me. He's like all tutoring here and he's like we're watching youtube or watching you on the bachelor had like win the kissing contest. And i'm like oh my gosh ten back to haunt me years later so we just kind of laugh about it now but and i just i said i have to look at this as a job and that i'm trying to win money like this is like acting to me. I'm going to kiss these guys. It's like acting and it's the game and it's for money. And i thought what is the difference between kissing for a contest or running around and i really really skimpy bathing suit and showing your body like on national tv. A cow is different. Whenever you're a mom like it's kind of rated about the same so And i just didn't think that it was fair if it got down to the finals and everyone was voting for who the winner was going to be like. How can i win. If i set out something that i wasn't comfortable with like there was a lot of things that i wasn't comfortable with doing. The water. talent was doing the whole synchronized swimming thing. I'm not a very good swimmer. I had to hold those. I hated that. But i still did it. I didn't set that out though. I hated it so i just i pushed through and i was like i'm gonna win this thing and they're like you really thinks on. I was like yes. I in the bag. It look it's not like the it's not like this was a boom room situation or something like that where you were seen going into a room with a black light or anything this. Okay we're kissing is in you know kissing booth type of activity where it's like okay. I i see what you're saying like the strategy behind it was fine right. It's out in front of everyone. It's not like it's you know some kind of passionate romantic gonna lead to something else. Type thing it's so so you ended up getting to for people that don't remember season two there were basically four couples that made it to you know quote unquote. The finals was holly and michael. Michelle and graham bien. Casey and you and kirk and you guys get sent to las vegas to compete in a competition. I believe the judges. Were roberto an alley at the time and maybe somebody else but you got to perform or get to rehearse with the vegas cirta soleil show cau- and then you had to do your own performance and it was judged by roberto and allen. I think i think sarasin might have been one of the judges and the maybe somebody else. But the bottom line was They were going to vote on. I think the the team that what do they vote on the winner or do they vote on the team that they felt to eliminate they eliminated one of us for okay based on your performance and see. This is the thing when it comes to paradise especially when you know. Production is behind a lot of things on this show and they wanna control certain narratives about this show. I dunno years after the fact. Do you think that you never stood a chance no matter how good you did because they wanted a final three couples of holly michael michelle graham in vienna casey. Now i really don't i really felt like A lot of the producers were pulling for. I mean for me to win. I don't know what they were saying to convert. But i really feel like that. They were And honestly that losing. That challenge was completely on me because Up until that point. I had pushed through everything But i am terrified of heights and so i knew that that was such a a mental challenge for me because i kept grabbing. Your held up there by harness so and you control yourself up and down with with this little joystick in your hands so i kept grabbing where my harness attached to the line the line that like fold you up and down and it was like one hundred feet up in the air and so i kept grabbing that like to hold on. I just kept thinking. I'm going to grab this. I'm going to undo my little clip. Because it's just one little clip. And i'm gonna fall and i'm gonna plummet and i'm gonna die on national tv. And i'm gonna leave my son like without a mother. And i just could not get that out of my head and the heights thing was like freaking me out and i just i kept grabbing that there was nothing that i could do in saw. Couldn't stay focused on staying up with him. And and thinking i'm safe so i i that one was on me and You know. I felt really really bad. But i don't feel like that. It was predestined or anything like that. I really don't okay so you just like you said you'd basically admitted like i had a fear of heights and this was basically a height based competition and i just didn't perform.

"We are joined by Cathy, Schmitz, Dahmer, Dr Amar Dr decker and Dr Michelle Graham, medical Saudi Wisconsin. We're talking about this incredible donation to walk economies housing first program. Tell me how this came to be out of this come to fruition. So as physicians as you can imagine, Steve we really liked to base things on facts and research so last year, actually, the majority of the year was spent investing in time and energy to look at all the programs across the county who's doing what how can we as physicians? Make a different impact says you've mentioned earlier getting on board with all the healthcare systems and understanding their needs are members and serving them and then working with the county executive and understanding their program with a really high rate of success more than ninety percent and keeping people in homes and that played a big role for us in selecting. In which program, we would support it seemed like such a logical idea. Right. Keeping the homeless in their homes or putting them in places where they can call home. Why is it taking so long for us to kind of get to this point? I think it's taken a long time. Because it's it's been a hard time in the hard to recognize what the issue is. And what the solutions are to fix it. So the walkie housing I initiative, I think was one of the first programs to really successfully managed this issue of homelessness and get people into homes and actually keep them in a home and from a healthcare standpoint. And this is part of the education that we're going to be doing over the next couple of years for our own members and the physicians in the community is the impact of homelessness on health. The instability that occurs when someone doesn't have a home they're likely to be able to probably don't have a job. They don't have a car to get to an appointment. And a lot of ways that that shows up in at least in the clinic setting like I'm in is what we call non adherence or non-compliance where someone doesn't show up or it doesn't doesn't come for an appointment. And sometimes it's because of these kind of social determinants of health homelessness being part of that opioids is a big part of this crisis. Right. I know medical society, Milwaukee has taken the leadership role in that. But doctors don't necessarily talk about homelessness. So so the timing of it why now. I think piece of it Steve really has been visual here in Milwaukee. There's been a lot of tense going up around in the city. Right. And I think that, you know, unfortunately, this has been a problem in Milwaukee and across the country for years and decades, right? But I think that once those ten started going up people started realizing the volume of homelessness in this community, and when it became visual. I think that's when they wanted to really step in and do something about it. And that that really was part of the impetus to get the community involved. Get some of these task forces involved to do something about it. And it really isn't just as Chris Abeille would say not just putting someone from tent into into a building. But it's providing those wraparound services for them. It's getting people dignity housing should be a right for people, and we really feel that way at the medical society as well. It's providing those wraparound services to make sure that that they are being checked on and have have a life that provides some dignity, and honestly we have done. So many interviews with some of the homeless that we have met through some of the organizations that were volunteering with through Mr. Bob's under the bridge. For example, the that will be the beneficiary of our donation from our gala on Saturday night, and many of these people have just experienced trauma in their lives. They have lost a job they have lost people in their life. They've had a health app episode where has forced them to become evicted or homeless, and they've they've had that trauma, and they just need they need that that support from the community to get them back on track. These are all tremendous wonderful people who just want that that service someone to come help them boost them and get them back on their feet. Now, we're not saying that there isn't that addiction out there. The mental health issue. That's clearly present. But, but we would also say that the majority of those people are also people who just need that leg up to get back on track. Again, we're talking about homelessness, but what else is the medical society doing to promote health and in the community. So we began with the prescription drug safety program. It started years ago, I was invited to serve on the national governor's association council, and then it kinda spurred off from there throughout the state. We started getting our members involved we started working and the new guidelines for writing prescriptions are members for working very closely with Representative John Nygren, we made that happen. So clearly now. When you are going to visit your doctor, you may or may not get that prescription that you need are you might be shared a prescription of something that's is non narcotic, and that's the education that we're that. We're trying to provide as well. So that's really been a big piece of of what we're doing an hour transitioning into the into the housing realm. We're joined by Cathy Schmitz, Dr Amar Arbor decker. And Dr Michelle Graham, this is the professional part of what you do when it comes to homelessness. But personally, this has to feel pretty good as well. It feels really great to be able to step up and be able to help in some way when we're all in our clinics and seeing patients that's a great way to help too. But it's not a very individual level. You're helping the person you're with what's great about county societies like this is really helps us to be able to help people on a much larger scale throughout the community. And that's one of the main reasons I wanted to join positions can actually join the medical society of Milwaukee. Other physicians any organization, absolutely and actually physicians are welcome to go to our website right now and sign up to be a member. If they'd like, it's it's an opportunity Steve for you know, what we say is for physicians to live there oath twenty four seven three sixty five and it might sound simple. But what what data anger decker just said is that people want to get out of that clinic, they want they want to celebrate. And remember why they became a doctor in the first place, and we welcome physicians from all over the health systems, whether you're in a health system, whether you're employed, whether you're not whether you're in a private clinic, whether independent we have close to four thousand physicians and medical students that are part of us, and that's the exams for the work that we do and the fact that physicians watch you get together with other physicians. I just want to go back. Steve you're asking about what this means to us as a physician here in the US to connect with a person where they're living on the street and learn about what we can do to impact again as Dr hampered decker side, not only just that one life, but really globally as a community where we think about trauma informed care, and what we can do to make our community better in the future. It's exactly why became a physician. I love the story. And again, the news here is at one hundred thousand dollars to Milwaukee county housing first program, medical society, Milwaukee. Thanks. Thank you, Kathy Amar. And Michelle just it's a great story. We've been trying to stay on the homelessness issue in our community as I said, I've had the county executive on we need more, folks. Doing the good work that today, we're we're finding about from the medical side of Milwaukee. So thanks to all of you for coming in. Thank you for having more show next radio. WTMJ more of this show.
