At the first he was there though that may have been the first one. He was there when he got called for her case. Maybe maybe his buddies that were doing the. That's what i think happened because the three of his yard his colleagues originally oh. I'm sure he's dead. So basically anything that steps foot into this house dies yes. Missile directed very misdirecting will be so angry goes people i feel like okay. These people who moving into your house had nothing to do with what you're crazy husband to you and your son right that's true. So are you just trying to like stay in your house and not have anybody living still not okay. They're crutches at this point. Yeah they're just not just hang the ressam b.'s. Well it said at the beginning of the movie that once you like are in this evil presence. What did it say. I also feel like this little boy little craft. Nothing bad would happen during filming. Oh i beat up precautions. I'm down with that. Especially if you're a culture that has these serious spiritual superstition. Yeah hell. yeah yeah. I can see absolutely Apparently the snapping and popping mouth noises were made from a hair comb. And i'm not really sure how. "Business rockstars. I'm Alex Worley for by Sarah, Michelle Gellar and brag Fleischmann they are the co founders of food stores. Thanks so much for being here. Thank you for having the children's. So for those who are not familiar if you could explain what food stores. Is a clean comforted company. We started out with baking mixes that you can purchase it anywhere in the country at physical retail or online. And then we also offer a subscription based kit offering that you can get once a month in your house. Huge dessert lover. So love that. It's a little less guilt or a little more guilt free. Very cool. I'm so the next question for you is what would you say is your definition of being an entrepreneur? What does it ultimately take? It takes everything that you have. And then some more I thought that I knew it working hard was until I joined the start up world, and you realize it's harder than having newborn twins that it is full-time nature. Attention your brain doesn't shut off. But it's also the most incredibly rewarding when you actually realize you can hit those milestones. Yeah. Absolutely. I'm curious. How has Hollywood prepared you for this difficult world of startups. It's interesting there are some aspects of it where I think that Hollywood definitely has help in preparing. And I think that mainly has to come with the amount of knows that we got the rejection, I look at most people in their lives, and you graduate college and you look for a job, and maybe you don't get a few. And then you settle in a job. And then maybe five or six years later you switch. But for me, it's constant it's additioning processes such a constant and very personal rejection. That happens so often on a large scale that it makes it a little bit easier in terms of leading the nose in the business world Roloff you a little bit and make you tougher as opposed to really feeling it as a personal rejection. I always said that we know we have a great idea. And we know we're going to kill it. And we'll find the right people, and this one just wasn't it as opposed to really internalizing that. Yeah. There are a lot of mistakes and many failures that happen and entrepreneurship, and I can't imagine being an actress that would prepare you for that. You know, a common fear is of failure. For entrepreneurs you ever deal with that we have a very specific definition and for us fail is just the first attempt and learning it just the first time, we tried something. If that one didn't work, it's only a failure. If we don't learn from it and improve upon what we initially set out to do. And you can't be fearful of failure and run business. If you are. Your perspective about what failure really is. And that's what Sarah Michelle talks about. Yeah. So you guys have been at it for a couple years. Now, if you could go back to those first few months, what advice would you give your early entrepreneurial self goodness. Well, I think the big one would be stamina. So you're going to be putting in long hours, and there's gonna be some sacrifice along the way. So if you go back and talk to yourself you would prepare. They weren't even harder. Well, you'd say, hey, look, there's going to be days like this where you want to quit. And after if you knew that that was coming then you would prepare better for it. And that could be all the things that you would do to decompress. Then that could be exercising hanging out with family, traveling to find those things that will get you through that difficult moments in being an entrepreneur. And if you're prepared for that which most ninety percent of first time entrepreneurs are not and makes it so much easier, and so much more joyful. To be challenging Sascha, which is at all are ultimately doing to really utilize the community to look for people that are facing the same struggles or have experienced the same struggles. And learn and grow from that. And and propel each other up. It's a team sport. Yeah. If you could create a startup toolkit, what would be inside of it. It could be more tangible technology could be intangible like a characteristic of personality trait that you need. So what would be inside my God? But that would be our next startup. We can't tell you that unless you send the not answer that question. Capsule. Okay. The big one is if the for not doing tangible be you gotta be visionary. You got to be strategic got to be creative. You've gotta be relentless. You have to have situational awareness and self awareness. But that in the box, and then you have to have that stamina to be able to work eighty hours a week. I think also stellar interpersonal skills seem to always be a prerequisite for successful entrepreneurs that we ought to communicate sell your idea. Get people to come over to your side do Steph when they don't want to to help you out. And and I think also nice comfortable shoes. How

"The death is. So the does is so it's like lazy writing as a DO sex market like let's just kill him. And every we're like okay here. We are. We're backed into a corner here. So we're going to have him, you know, give her the journal. She's going to read it change your mind. She's on the street. She's looking for him. What do we do guys who by taxi to me in print? I mean, it's very lazy. I also don't understand how her receiving his journal makes her realize, oh, he does love me after all. Because in the journal he explains his plan to manipulate her and steal her virginity that she's like cool, dude, dude. You know, listen, you know, she's obviously very easily manipulated. I think he definitely added an addendum at the end. That was like, but throughout this process. I actually fell for her. And I've changed and I feel terrible. And she accepted the apology. Yeah. So that's why that happened. But can I just say they showed a page of the book of his journal at the end, the photocopies pause TV. I couldn't read this shit right worst handwriting. I'm asking you. And then also there's like the teacher who comes up behind her and takes away her coke necklace, which narrative -ly how could he have seen that already? Right hasn't come outside. But sure fine. Good point and things. I mean when that happened in theater, I remember just being like square like I was like. I thought. It was like the coolest telling you. I hate that shit up when the scooping it flies in the air in the look on her face. I was just like, yeah. Drugs. We'll get you know, where like I love that though. One good message of the movie drugs. Although I did Google well, I didn't Google, but I was like I want one of those coke. But I was like I want like a drug necklace that to me was really exciting idea. Maybe I'll put my like, my emergency powder in it other. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't see Sarah Michelle Gellar rape, anybody because he assaulted Cecile. He is too diet yet house like, and that's just the movie what we saw like imagined a back pages that book write a bunch of women at that school. And so it's like he's been doing this longer than that. But even so maybe a week or two. Yeah. 'cause 'cause he reads haven't known each other for more than a little more than a week. Maybe it's hard. Well, that's I think this is other school gets back. But the at the beginning of the movie Cecil's like oh Ronald's teaching me cello over the summer as if the movie takes place over the course of a whole summer. It's really it's unclear it makes it seem like it's working days. It could be as much as a month and the couple months or right like Opie. "And in order to like compensate for the fact that she's playing a character over ten years younger, she actually, but she's acting so obscenely childlike that it's she like overdid it, and it's just very distracting and not to put some on blast. But who've bad jobs on. I really liked her performance as a when I saw it as a kid. I thought she was saying. Perico food. Directed her to act like that really not on her baby through so Cecile is starting school with Catherine in the fall, and Catherine does not like Cecile because she stole Catherine's boyfriend court so Katherine wants to ruin Cecil's reputation. So that court won't like our anymore. Right. Why friend named after a place to play a sport? It's a super oh like old money name court. Yeah. I'm so lower middle-class. I had no idea Rory. Fair share court. They were all Fiji's. Okay. All my Greeks out there. Boy. So now, Catherine asks her stepbrother Sebastian to seduce Cecile. So that it ruins her goody goody reputation. Yeah. Meanwhile, Sebastian is like I'm tired of having sex with all these debutantes. They're so boring. So he wants more of a conquest and he learns about a net, which is Reese Witherspoon character. Who is also going to be starting at their school in the fall REEs is still greatness movie. I love free Reese, I mean, treasure one is even though the dialogue is so cheesy in horrific at times, they all sell it. They did it. They sell it sell. They're committing these one hundred percent. Sure. That's why looking back at this move. You're like, oh my God. Yep. And so a nets whole thing is that she's a virgin, and then she's waiting to have sex presumably till marriage, or like at least till she finds someone who she is in love with. So Sebastian decides that he's going to make a net his conquest and take her virginity and caffeine's all like, you can't do that. That's out of your league, even for you. So she's like, let's make a wager. If Kathryn wins, she gets Sebastian's cool convertible car if he wins. He can fuck her in any hole. We need to like every nineties teen movie is made of our hundred very sinister, a salty bet. Yes. Where she and then things Sarah Michelle Gellar in that sinister shot where she's like, what is what's the lead? You like any? She's like any. And then you're just like, I hate this. I liked that she sex positive and confident ourselves. Yes. And we'll talk about she gives a monologue. That's it's worth unpacking everywhere. Yes. I yes for sure. Yeah. And then side note Sebastian has a journal that he's keeping where he details all of his, you know, like bets and lies and conquests and stuff with all these women. So you're saying it's an early incarnation of the mean girls, burn buck. Yeah. I also feel it sorta like his anger or his tumbler analog Zanga or perhaps. You know, what would be are equivalent, right, right? Yeah. So now Sebastian he's going. He's trying to seduce a net. And she's not having it at first. And then meanwhile, but he'll wear her down. Don't worry. Don't you? Don't you worry of the ninety one grope at a time? Right. Meanwhile, want nagging at a time one one just being in a pool exposing himself. Yeah. He's like show you what we're implying is a horse's, dick. But we don't actually see it. So there's no receipts on the size of Ryan Filipinas. But the but is good. Yeah. However, he is fully exposing himself without her consent. And she's like, oh, this is. And then he he yells at her for her to turn around because owners us on hers movie fucking upset me. "I mean among my circle of friends, and my culturally growing up in the late nineties early two thousands in Dallas suburb, Dallas this movie was huge. We all quoted it we watched it. I mean, I remember like, let's all watch David days. Unlike we'd pop growing Sanches and have a laugh, so the fact the I'd seen this sharing. I think we're the weird ones though, have seen for sure. I don't know. How I missed it either. Because in ninety nine I was thirteen I was the age, right? I prime demo because I think I was like fourteen. Yeah. Ninety nine is the year of teens lying to each other and making bets to have sex with other teens because this is the year. The cruel intentions comes out that ten things I hate about. You comes out that she's all that comes out. So it's just like oh time to be alive. No it honestly a beautiful time. What a beautiful I mean, looking back there were some damn issues. But I love that era being a kid of that era was such a perfect time to me, it was fun using a ninety nine day on the fashion. There is so so much of a blink one. Eighty two was thriving. It was a simpler to the movies though, where insanely problematic and influenced our young brain one hundred percent the worst hundred percent. But yeah, somehow, I missed cruel intentions didn't see it until last week. And this is I think the most insane movie we've covered on the podcast. It's get so problematic that I just grew numb and was just enjoying the ride because I was just like this movie is a string of like really pithy sexual assaults. Like one hundred percent. The whole movie is like quip quip, and now coercing someone into sex who doesn't I- Sebastian is a fuck boy. Oh, a Tae. If you Google fuck, boy, he'll come up, you know, with that Rahman noodle JT hair. I mean. On this movie triggered me in so many ways, and what's talk about it. Because fired up. Yeah. Let's say morning. I'm fired up for the one moment in this movie. That really absolutely destroyed me is because a lot of the scenes that are supposed to be sexy in this movie are not sexy at all. They're completely like or for me. Anyways. There's that one scene where Sarah Michelle Gellar is supposed to be like teasing. Ryan phillipi. Which is I love that. I'm just going to say his name like that. Yeah. My mom thinks Ryan Philippines. Name was pronounced flippy like f L I P P Y low run. So so Sarah, Michelle Gellar is teasing quote, unquote, Ryan Philipe, and she's like laying on him sunny side up and just sort of like moving her body around on him like a limp noodle. And then he's like looking almost two camera with this like very disturbing erection phase. And it was the least sexy thing I've ever seen this sunny side up gyration and his hands on the body were like so like, you could see the pressure. He was putting palming her like he wasn't groping her. Even like softly caressing her. It was like a wet fish slapping against her arm. It felt bad for both of them in that scene. They're manipulating people. And generally, they have cruel intentions. Stop it. Believe it or not it's not an ironic title. So Catherine meets Cecile Selma Blair's character who someone blade by the way twenty-seven in this movie twenty seven buying a fifteen year old. Okay. Have to get that out there. "It. I don't know. In my mind, they receive release spoilers like making room for spike in our libraries on, I don't know these weird choices. When you go like, were they planning those visits? This happened why? I don't know. Like I said, I think that, you know, this was like the second time she shown up so there I think they were like, okay, she's not gonna show for what you know. Now we're as you know. They had a real tough time with this episode specifically because Sarah, Michelle, Gellar scheduling, which is why a lot of this leg sheer university w it all tastes places like like, you know what I'm saying? Like with vampire diaries, way shot in Atlanta in also shot the regionals, Atlanta, NFL. I guess they did the experience of New Orleans obviously in the course that you're over all in. They include ver. I think they have learned the lesson. Yeah, validate these two places shot hosted by remember. Oh, really? Yeah. But I just I just think that at that point, especially where Buffy Scholla's and she just wasn't feeling being the slayer anymore. Honestly are the like what? Another year? So when the whole that worked shift of Buffy came about and that. They just left it at that. I would have probably a little more happier. I'm just saying to just her dying. Yeah. 'cause that's what slaves knew she shouldn't have been special, but all been the end of the day. I don't care. Think Bucky agreed with you. That I don't want, I think was okay. So the thing about joss in the crew, they're all very matter. But like I just don't get the medal point of this up like it's great. Don't get me wrong. It's great. The buildup towards totally is kinda like EROs wanted to all the lake finalized four or five of all roll into this one. Great. Big finale you know. But they added now, this is something about this leaves a bad taste in my mouth is much as others episodes. Yeah, I mean, yeah. I mean there were some good, some bad. Like I said, I love the helicopter thing. Just him jumping up. They're throwing the guy. Zima judicial though. She just killed overnight veered, nonchalantly. You don't kill a demon to kill a slayer. You kill. You hire another slayer kill us player or at least by despite the first assassin we hired killed the second assassin we send after the first assassin this getting ridiculous. Yes. How they're like they're talking about another favorite one Mayes Lila's talking about how angel can't killed, either by Slater river has a, he's actually date one. How's that back. Everybody in sunny, they'll loves the gossiper. You kidding. By now you think that'd be the gossip all through anywhere like vampire isn't payments congregated. Yeah, but. You. You had served where you've got cooties confidence launches like any vampire like an jealous a legend. Well, that's why it goes by angel now. Yes. Take a little bit signed off that reputation. We'll get to next episode. I believe next episode, he dropped the name man, jealous. Oh, yeah. So yeah, I just can't put my finger on it, but I feel like this this had a little too much Jackson's intervention in it. I mean. I mean, again, we get, you know, cordy scored. He steps out at the beginning of the beginning of episodes of basically, it almost could've been a Buffy episode just dangerous on Wesley or there you know. A, you know this except l. lanes that has Sunnyvale. Popular for her? She is. She ran off the LA that farmer. The thing though, I think that I noticed is when Tim manure jazz, we can get together to collaborate at the lead Tim drowned out in joss obviously is his creation or whatever. He gets final say, 'cause he's the boss, but I know I just feel it Tim definitely have more of a better late aesthetic for angel than Justice. Like I feel like especially in its episode jostle silcon cleaning too much to the Sunnyvale way of doing things if you know what I mean..

"Harder to the actress. There's a lot of preparation I assume, or running your own business in all of the trials. They're very different. I think sometimes it depends in the moment. You know, acting can be emotionally draining. You know if you're doing something that's heart wrenching or. You know, physical Buffy was extremely physical. The hours were extremely long, but that being said, you know, I had a nice trailer to Goto to craft services. There's luxuries that come with that. I think that this is a little bit more gut wrenching and the fact that I'm putting it all out there fail or succeed. You know, there's no in film and television. Every big actor has a movie that fails a TV show that doesn't go, you know, bad reviews and it's just onto the next visit. There isn't like they're not knowing areas. No next things. I think there's a different kind of pressure. Yeah, and because I am under a microscope right as well, it's, you know that you feel that extra pressure and it's always, I think it's always scary to step aside your comfort zone, but I could have stayed in my comfort zone and come back and I will continue to say, yeah, you'll go back to it. I do. Actually. I think that I'll get to a place with the company where I feel like there's a world where I can do both. It's just not. We were starting because to get into these stores and to do all that we launched online first and then the stores came to us very quickly wanting to put us this right. We knew that we weren't ready yet. Packaging was still straight to. Consumer there were still work to be done. And so our leap from being online launching to going into initially three hundred and then seven thousand stores was over the course of six months, and it's very quick and it's a lot of pressure because I say it's very much like a movie, right. You spend on your movie that you gotta get people to theater right then same things. Now we'd get on the shelf now. We have to get off the schnauzer the bake people go and buy it. Exactly. Now, I know alley struggled with this early on, frankly, still does, and. This how she balances, you know, I wonder if it's different in your previous career or with your with food stores with balancing the work life. Ally used to always feel guilty whenever she was working. She felt bad that she wasn't with her kids. Whenever she said that kid, she felt bad. She wasn't with Dr are and I feel felt so I feel so bad for an. I'm actually about to have my first baby right now. So I haven't been any minute now, but you look great considering. But I'm, it's so hard. It is. It's it's really hard. I, it's a question I get asked the most like work life balance the answers. There's no such fun than thank you. They're not. But the main thing that I do think you have to do is instead of doing that instead of feeling guilty when your home that you're not a drive are feeling guilty, you're not home is the reverse. You have to commit that when you are at Dr. Ardo fat is your debt gets your attention and that when you are home you president? I know I say the same thing I try to like make sure like I'm there for like the important big things for my kids, and I'm like, really a hundred percent there and vice versa. When I'm Dr are try to like really focus there. I will say this as a forwarded me while my children are really young also the ability to be a little more present because when you're on a film set, if my daughter has a midday show in first grade, I can't leave four hundred crew members to stay. "Okay so jeff did you have any any last thoughts about about this episode i still wouldn't recommend it to be your first episode i i wouldn't either i wouldn't either when i was watching it i was like oh jeff's going to hate this hobby the dissenting voice go ahead and do it jeez well okay so if you really wanted to understand everything that happened in this episode go for well if they're listening to us at this point yeah they're committed at this point it didn't deter me from buffy we'll see i mean it's at this point i'm only not watching it out of there are just more stuff that i know i'm going to like as opposed to i as opposed to needing to go back to something i've been told them going to like and generally in my experience me being told them like something is the quickest way for me to find out that things sucked so we'll see i actually have no idea if you would like buffy i would be really interested to know like legitimately if you did tell you what if someone it was who was wendy's the justice right yeah wendy when your turn comes back around suggest the pilot and then suggest up so to and eventually you go watching it if when i when i first saw this i was in junior high is one of hers came out and my friend how your old my friend tyson he he loved it but he had a thing for sir michelle gellar so part of it and i remember watching it when i was fifteen fourteen i remember how old i was and there was a lot of witchcraft in it and there was a lot of like stuff like that and that made me feel uncomfortable like because i was just i was just really like sheltered i don't know if that's a word by was just innocent at that point like i had never seen that point i'd never seen a rated r movie you know i shied away from like bloody and gore stuff because it always made me clearly i still kind of have an issue with it a lot you know and so like this this show even when it came out that sort of stuff just wasn't on tv very often at all and and it kind of broke barriers along that line to that it wasn't.
