"Mutiny i know i didn't a and we talked about jimmy. Johnson jimmy johnson. One time coach the cowboys. One time coach of the national champion miami hurricanes one time coach oklahoma state coach dolphins and then spent a year after retiring without wearing shoes. Jimmy johnson is one of the greatest man to ever live because he spent a year in the keys without ever putting on a pair of shoes after he hit his big quitting time. That is a career goal. That is a life goal. If you don't understand it turn this podcast off right now. It's not for you if you're vibe and with it okay you found the right tribe. You're here with us right now. Okay jimmy johnson in this snippet from when he was at miami is depicted as a master manipulator by that. You mean kind of a sociopath. He's a cat a guy who associated pack the of guy who when michael stabbed somebody with scissors. All right that yeah. It's like well that's too bad. He's first string sorry. That's our starter encounter. lets it go. Did eventually releases the other guy. That's that's the kind of sociopath that he had to be to succeed. Johnson is described as a master manipulator. This but this sounds like this. Sounds like a man who is well-versed and is an experienced practitioner in the art of petty. How petty about share it with you. So johnson was from our frank. Breuls great coach at arkansas longtime athletic director with a slightly different results as the guy in charge. Frank broil said that By far jimmy johnson was the smartest player he ever coached. Jimmy johnson had a one hundred and sixty two. I q jimmy. Johnson is just flat. Brilliant do jimmy. Johnson also has a mean streak a mile wide and did not forget. When he was slighted in nineteen eighty. Three frank boils pass on johnson as a head. Coaching candidate and hired another former arkansas razorback. Ken hatfield can had feel. He ended up coaching program. Hen cat sealed. Hen cat meet way. More inten- hat meet when ken hatfield. Got that gig and pack. I like that too johnson. Got the canes job and then what did jimmy johnson immediately do after taking the miami jobs murdered. Ken hatfield so to speak yes so to speak because he's scheduled arkansas for a home at home against an eventual. Nine and three arkansas team. In one thousand nine hundred seven in little rock the case went up there and they beat the hell out of them eventually. Winning the game fifty one seven and the players gave johnson the ball. Goodness i would do that. Yeah take to give the ball. That's how petty he was. He got the canes job. He's like you know we need to put on the schedule. Well we we put arkansas. Hey what's the historical rivalry or the national importance. The significance of playing the arkansas razorbacks. Don't ask just do it. Put him on the schedule. Must burn those. All he wanted he wanted to go in and burn the house down into a smooth pit than to a smooth. Even ask pit was. This is what he did arkansas. They ended up being nine and three. Betty took offense to that. Betty was like why. Why are you talking arkansas. Now is betty sang a record. A load is no indicator without strength of schedule advanced. Metrics this game got man. She was just saying they keep this game got. Ken hatfield in trouble twice once when he lost it. And the second time went on the coach's show as he traditional eight show with the bible verse can hatfield chose jesus wept. Get him in trouble. Frank pearls did not like that. Didn't unlike you told him with the lord and mocking arkansas football and vice versa. So he got in trouble twice for that. Jimmy johnson go on to win the super bowl. What the dallas cowboys can have feel. That can hatfield did not yet. Could buddy i if anybody was going to win. At the age of seventy eight might be somebody who just goes coaches arkansas year. So how about the next year. Eighty eight the other leg of that home when arkansas rolls into miami at. Let's see they are ten in oh and then loses by two points scares the crap out of them like fair. Play to arkansas. For but i think like justice frustrating getting again. You're asking you're asking by eighties miami. That okay that happens almost beating eighties miami to hit eleven and entering bowl season That sucks arkansas. That was probably. That was probably all part of the plan to write. See jimmy johnson being like oh it would hurt them. Most i've done. I've done the research. Data says that losing by two points would be most damaging to the arkansan psychology. Here jimmy said oh. I'll make jesus weep too by the way can have field zwicky photo definitely. Looks like somebody. Who's slightly confused that. He coached arkansas. Think it's him as head coach. Go how did this happen. How he was one of two coaches to leave for rice. That has happened twice all time to leave for the up and leave clemson for rice. Yeah which by the way ken hatfield was created. Arkansas is good its worst season. Seven four one right. He had to three ten win seasons to nine seasons and then like a wise man. What did he do. He got the hell up outta arkansas before something bad happened to because that's what happened to all arkansas head. Coach is officially nothing. Good some weird weird's going to happen to you. So he went to the low pressure. Job of clemson okay. Maybe that wasn't super advisable but anyway. Not not a slouch. That was getting all of this taken out on him. But it made me think of other petty. It did not make you. Just think of other petty though. Jason it made you think about arkansas. Petty specifically got more arkansas. Football stuff right. Yeah yeah. I mean bret bielema i sure like bret bielema being like the king of minor. Petty which you don't really think about it until you go back to the fossil record and realized that bret bielema one went for two while beating indiana by like fifty because and i quote. That's what the cards said and then What do you do so at arkansas texas bowl. Against the longhorns and he was like throwing the hook them the whole time right. Yeah that was that was when the data that was where borderline erotic came from right Arkansas shutting down texas does manages decided.

"Michael covert and michael savage or have been held by chinese authorities in that time the relationships between canada the us and china have frayed more on that in a moment but first after long months with little news the canadian embassy in beijing was told just on wednesday that both men will go to trial on espionage charges. Michael savage was in court for two hours today but no verdict was released and with journalists and canadian officials capped out of the courtroom not even able to get a glimpse of michael spam or has he was driven up in a van with mirrored windows. Nothing is known about what happened at those proceedings. Michael covert will appear in court on monday while the geopolitics of this story often dominates these are two men to human beings kept from their home and their families. Now for years fina najibullah is michael. Cove rakes wife. Good morning to you. Good morning rosemary. I know you've had a hard an incredibly hard week. Tell me What went through your mind when you heard that a trial date was now set Yes it has been a very difficult week. Rosemary long days sleepless nights When i first heard i thought of of michael and how would take the news How difficult this will be for him after more than eight hundred days of isolation and confinement To have to face this as hard as it is for us to make sense of the news and and what comes next It is so much harder for him. And that's what i've been thinking about when you saw how things played out for. Michael spindler this morning Being driven up in that darkened van. No one allowed into the courtroom that the diplomats from canada and other countries just standing across the street from the courthouse. What did that make you think about. What will happen for your husband on monday I suspect something very similar. Obviously these cases are linked and Both michael spyware and our michael have endured a lot of the same things for the last more than two years So i suspect something very similar will play out on mondays. Well but again. What what i tried to focus on is not so much. The legal elements that are now unfolding in china. But rather what can we do here to try to bring ten and The situation is dark as this hour. Feels i continue to focus on on might be Opportunities for bringing to end will use you say that in of course you've been working relentlessly since this started. What what can you do right now. That that could change the outcome here Well i believe we. We must find a solution I mean obviously there would need to be some kind of a trilateral compromise or an outcome of that is agreeable to china. Us and canada Never been illegal proceeding Michael and michael were are innocent. They have done nothing wrong there in the situation because they are canadians and are caught up in the bigger drama of an extradition and and geopolitics as reference. So since day one. We have said that there has to be a solution that is A negotiated at the level of these three governments. To bring an end to this injustice. I would point out that. The chinese embassy in canada issued a statement this morning again even though they deny that the The extradition of one joe is is connected to The holding of michael stab myself covert. They did again mentioned that case in their statement. So it's clear that they are in some way connected. Tell me when was the last time that you were in contact with michael..

"His family for him himself for Canadians is rolling to the Canadian government. It's been more than two years that he has been held arbitrarily in detention here in China. It's Not been a transparent process were unable to have access to the courtroom. We were also able to have access to Michael's fabric himself before the trial, but nevertheless, it's a trial is now concluded. At a news conference in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Generally John insisted that the case and consular access were being handled according to the law. Okay, again. Should considering the fact that this case touches upon China's national secrets. No person is allowed to sit in on there will not be an open trial in regards to what you mentioned about consul visits based on mutual respect and keeping the concerns of both sides in mind. The relevant Chinese authorities will continue and later the pandemic situation to handle consul visits for comedian citizens in accordance with the law. Nathan van The Clipper is a reporter for Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper. He was in Dandong for the trial. Well, today was the day that was booked for a 10 A.m. trial for Michael Spatafore, who's one of the two Canadians who were Taken into custody in China days after the arrest in Canada of my Juanjo, the hallway executive and the trial was set for 10 A.m. this morning and it was unclear what would happen. The Canadian government has been seeking access to the trial and they have been told by the Chinese government that they couldn't go in, but they were sort of wanted to see if they might be able to get in yet this morning. But of course, none of that happened. Nobody was allowed in, and the trial itself lasted for two hours. What was the justification for not allowing any diplomatic representation? China says under its own law that trials that deal with state security's matters, which in this case, the charges against my power of the state security nature. That those trials need to be closed in the Chinese love, which is what the Chinese government is saying. But kind of dog is what that under international law they should have been allowed in. Yeah, under international counselor agreements, including the Canada China consular Agreement, which allows for constant representation inside of courtrooms with no exceptions. Pretty free y Dang dong, Why is it happening there? This is where Michael Spatafore is being held. It's also where he was living prior to his arrest, and Dong is right on the border with North Korea. In fact, the court house looks out over North Korea is standing outside. We could sort of spend the day looking at North Korea's. The proceedings were happening inside and Michael's father had built a business bringing people into North Korea. Do you know how he is? No, No, we don't. The Canadian government has been unable to see him for quite some time. They were not able to see him ahead of this trial. We gained no glimpse of him. Today. He was brought to the court in cars with sort of mirrored glass that were impossible to look inside. So No. I mean what we've heard in previous months from family members and others is that he is keeping his well as can be expected in the conditions, but we don't know anything recently. So what happens next with the case? And I mean is it is it done and dusted in terms of what happens in court, and then we just wait for a verdict as best we can understand. That's the case now, in terms of the verdict itself, that is All but a foregone conclusion, just shy of 100% of cases tried and Chinese courts are are found guilty in terms of the sentencing. That's the big question, And that's something that could have been unveiled today or judging by previous Chinese practice is something that could wait years, six years before it's unveiled. Michael Kubrick. His trial is what you to take place on Monday. Is that right Monday in Beijing? Yeah. What about the timing of all this? Given that we've had these high level talks between the U. S and China in Alaska. Is there something in that little Well, there's a number of background issues. There's the ongoing extradition proceedings in Canada for among Juanjo those air due to draw to a close in May. There is the fact that Canada's sort of lead global coalition condemning through a declaration, arbitrary detention, and Canada has very loudly called out China for arbitrary detention of the case. These two Canadians, but But much of that is background that has existed for some time. So why did this happen today? On Friday why Did Michael stab or go into court, literally at exactly the same time that the two sides and between the US and China were talking in Anchorage? We don't haven't gotten a clear explanation on this. But there are plenty of people who will tell you that there are no such things as coincidences in China, I was going to say, I mean, does anyone seriously doubt that these two men have been used as bargaining chips? I mean, the Canadian government has been clear about calling this arbitrary detention. I mean, many people who have called this hostage diplomacy. I mean, I think it's been quite clear from the timing and everything else that they were taking him. You know, quite soon after among Juanjo was arrested this while we executive was arrested in Canada, the degree to which they're used as bargaining chips and other geopolitical issues, maybe ground that we're now starting Tol cover on given that they do face espionage charges if they do end up Going to jail. I mean, potentially, that could be for a long time, right? These charges if the court deems them serious can carry a life sentence. They thin vendor clip journalists with the Globe and mail..

I would I would do anything I would say about him is that it's it's possible that I just think Giambi you show that little bit more Class I. Think you know? A little bit harder to get there the way that Giambi traveled through his race. Ask US just a little bit more close on the. On the think he'd probably be much election. Now, one thing I will say about Charlie applebee's horses. The season's three roles in facts is that I've been slight disappointed with the way they've been running when the stepped up in class they've been winning debut as they always do plenty of them have. But when they stepped up to a decent grade, they have struggled and that's one concern. I would have a hobby who I think he's got to prove that he belongs at this level mops more. So than the other two guru in Giambi and I think Giambi and guru the fight this race out among just coming down on the side of Giambi by those and Lawrence will be too far away either because he's a nice stand William Bligh, I'm not sure about him. And actually in a very nice. Ah, nice. Save Hood Tell you compared to where we were. Which is nice, because ah ah, last night. Oh, excuse me Over the weekend. You had to ride last night as well. You had the FDR block down with people marching North bound FDR. With these black lives matter. Idiots out there. These marks is creeps off course. Now you mentioned Little Italy. They're down there. They're harassing Ah, ah outdoor diners and burning burning stuff and destroying property. Right here in New York City, and only 18 arrests. They're stopping on police cars breaking windows. And the police have got to get tougher. They have got to get tougher. They need orders to get tougher but to the point of, Ah, the anarchy that is reining in our city. I read this over the weekend, and it said it's kind of funny, but it's very, very sad. Very sad for the owners, their minority owned businesses, these people, and this is Long Island City. They Ah, this one restaurant this guy. His name is Farley on Achmed. He's got a restaurant called the Long Island City Grill. A long Island city is kind of mixed and, of course, would have been a beautiful place right now had not AOC. Ah! Ah, Chased and scared. The hell out of Amazon from coming here would have been a great great place would have been thriving jumping. But right now, not so much So anyway, Fi on Achmad hey, sets out a couple of tables outside his restaurant, Long Island City Grill. And he said, You've got to customers that sat down. They came in and said, We've got to take the food and go. Menaces why? They said. Well, there was crack smoke blowing in there, he says. There was, he says, Quiet says there was crack smoke blowing in their face. Marijuana smoke a to smoke. There were people coming up asking them for money. There were drug dealers yelling at their runners. There were gang signs being thrown left and right. This is what the Akhmad is saying. And he says to homeless guys sat down at one of one of the tables and he told them that the tables were just for customers. But they didn't want to leave you. This is what a business owner is going on. This is part of the anarchy and also Ah, fascist. Cuomo's oppressive rules regarding the lockdowns despite our victory over the Corona virus here now Rocky Garcia on the same block in Long Island City that this is just Ah, Symptomatic. I think of a lot of neighborhoods in New York. A lot of neighborhoods are not, you know, the Upper West Side or whatever. You have five burrows in the city. So this is just this is just a couple of a couple of restaurants that the New York Post reported decided to go to Rocky Garcia owns a subway shop. Down down the block from where Ahmed has his Long Island City Grill, And he says this we planned to do outdoor seating, but it is impossible if you put out chairs and tables. It's not for the customers. It's for these people. He's talking about the bumps. It just makes more problems. The people that live in this area they don't want to come get food here. They're scared. If they come, then a homeless person follows them in asking for money asking for a sandwich. Who wants to deal with that? Says Rocky Garcia, a lateral. He's right. This is the racist policy that Governor Cuomo is implementing here. And then the reporter reports that two dozen men were gathering on the sidewalk, shuffling around their eyes glazed over heads down and peering intently into store windows. Aah! Smoking K to drinking beer from a cannon in a paper bag. This is all from the reporter. And Achmed said business only got worse when local hotels turned into shelters for the homeless. That's right. That has caught that. That little compassionate act will you put the homeless in the local hotels or the Rikers Island inmates? It impacts the damn neighborhood, you stupid idiot! Rotten bastard! Leaders of ours! Dumb and dumber. Cuomo and de Blasio, you idiots. And again the New York Post reporter from the moment they came here you saw the drug deal is setting up shop on the street. Actually, that's Achmed. Within two days, you saw people passed out drinking more malt liquor all day on the ground. Spilling it fight starting. It's been horrible Ever since now, receipts are down 80%. This is all due to our leadership or lack of Lack thereof. We could tell them to move. But that's not the best we can do it. Yes, Is that the best We can do that just to minor examples, and I'm sure that's occurring all over the city notice. There's no question I mean again. I live in a relatively fancy hood. Although courteously, but for some reason, every time somebody get shot up by me, and now it's becoming a weekly deal. He loves to send out emails like, says Sid's Hood said. Good, but I've got a couple of very nice restaurants dining outdoors on Broadway and almost every time I go eat, including yesterday I had a lunch in the blistering sun. It's Sarah Penis. Some person walks by and neither reaches I hand out to you because you're sitting right there on the street burn. Which is a hand out to you or says something to you or walks by stuttering and muttering currencies. And it's just it's disgusting. And the 30 their filthy. They've got feces in their pants. And you're sitting there trying trying to enjoy a lunch because you can't go inside. Even if I could go inside, I wouldn't go inside. And these low lives are all over the city there every way well everywhere the numbers down as low as they've ever been regarding the Corona virus, it's time to re open. These businesses are dying. Now. Ah, let me just point this out a programming note. Rudy Giuliani Today 3 to 4 bench a pyro. He's back as I heard him called over the weekend. Ben Shapiro back from 4 to 5. Bench appears 466 again, Then you gotta Mark Levin got a new book out Now you mentioned Regis Philbin is dead Talked about. We talked about that earlier and how Kelly and Michael stabbed him in the back. But He also was a Cardinal Hayes alumna. Yes, you fellow alumnus of my Cardinal Hayes, and he was a great guy. But also Olivia have. Elin died at 100 for I believe she was the oldest living actress. That's right. Yeah, 100 for sister of Joan Fontaine, who she had a falling out with, And she was also, in addition to gone with the wind, one of the greatest movies ever made the same year. "This yeah? I Y. Don't do this immediately. After she died and I mean immediately this had had to happen within minutes of her dying. If we are to take the time line literally she died yesterday he immediately to buy gormless he was already flying Susan's on her way out. I can't stand to watch ooh itchy. I don't WANNA see dead body. I saw the dead bird and that scared me Susan's Susan's death was imminent. And he just like got a head start. That's that's the other Armageddon or he knew she was going to die at that moment in in some way shape or form Brian. Terrible father terrible husband. Terrible terrible person. Bad Guy Yeah. Let's just bring it out at that. 'cause that's the other thing as well as like we're going to see you know Michael Meet Walt but I mean he sends Michael there but he also gives Michael the instruction of like Okay and then. You're immediately going to come back appear like Brian. You have this palatial Australian estate. At least give him like a week to get to know him. Don't have him break the ice by saying like. Hey you're coming with me. Let's get on this plane. And that's another reason why Brian is obviously a terrible fathers. Technologists is he has no sense whatsoever and how to handle a ten year old child's feelings feelings in any sense of the word. Here's two round trip tickets from Sydney to New York. There's money for travel expenses in the envelopes. Go to Sydney kidney and bring your son home. Because he's a freak. Things are weird when he's around things happen around him he's different somehow. You might even say he's special. Do you think that I mean. Does this prove like I wouldn't say Sudan Susan's wrong but does does is validate Michael At all there's actually some really obviously some great acting from Harold Perrineau specifically in the scene you could feel the anger seething his voice when he says. I haven't been a multi father in nine years but we do. We think the fact that Brian has his tail tucked so far between his legs in this scene. Does that really show Michael. Like Susan made the wrong choice at the end of the A day. God made the wrong choice in choosing Brian and like taking walked away and that she said Brian are going to adopt this child. When it's very clear lear that she was forced to Kim away into the arms of a man who did not want? I think it's the kind of thing we're like. Look you you get you get hurt. You get injured emotionally finally physically whatever and like you feel like there's a specific person circumstance that you can blame and it's very raw and painful the closer closer you are to it but time as as it does its thing heals the wounds if not completely at least soothe them to some degree and you get away from it and I think when when Brian shows up at Michael's doorstep Michael probably wasn't thinking about Susan in Walt more than like a little background that it's been nine years or eight year. I'm sure it happened. I'm sure he thinks about wall every single day to some capacity right. But you know it's more like a memory it's more you you know. It's more abstract to him. He's had to move on. It's been a decade. He's had to move on with his life and accept the fact that he's not going to have a real relationship with his son and now now this guy walks in and is being such a blatantly awful father that I think that it immediately reopened that scar and all of that all damage starts pouring out. I love Michael in this moment. I love my coping. Lick your his dad. What are you doing like I would love to be his father? I would love to have you. Don't know how good would you ha- I would have loved to have been away from him for the last nine years but that's the fact I have been your his dad. It's awful. It's it's really really tough. And you know we go back to the island very quickly and Michael and lock their on the case but even as quickly as that. We're back to the flashbacks. The flashbacks are really. We have for the for the final part of this episode. We're off is good because the on Ireland and we're basically like we're bobbing and weaving between the flashbacks backs and Michael and lock trying to save Walt from being trapped inside a tree by a very very bad. CGI polar bear. Yeah you would think that like okay. Okay we strayed away like the puppet didn't work from the pilot. Siege is the way to go but like you said like oh to go back to the puppet. No the siege is just that quote the closer close ups are fine like the closest to the polar bear totally fine. It's just like puppetry and it's whatever but like the shots were like the wide shots you're seeing behind the polar bear thankfully mercifully are pretty quick but like if you stop at all to examine it. It's just a cartoon. It's so clearly a cartoon and there's there's a good bit of this really bad add. CGI throughout lost. This never really stops season five. The incident has a scene where the submarine is leaving the island and that is really really awful basically anytime you ever see the submarine in motion. It's awful there's this is not. This is not their strong suit. They're are lost is great at so much the CGI stuff can often be a little wonky when it's like an object focus as it is here with the CGI agi polar bear so like the long short of it is locking Michael. Our team together to Save Walt from the CGI polar bear. They do this really strange. Range tree branch bridge walked to get to walk. Michael's going to hop down. He's GonNa throw a knife to wall walt's going to slash the bear. Michaels get a climbdown Dan he gets walled out of there. Michael Stabs at the bear. The bear runs away. Unlock watches it go. Honestly I wonder if that's the same or bear that lock is GonNa Torch in season. Three's like watching it. Run away but we will meet again. I'd like to think so in my head can and that is the case. Either Way Vincent is missing. Lock is convinced that Vincent will find his way back to walt. He did once before he will again. Michael Unlock they're kind of like bonded. Now it it seems like they're mostly healed at this point. That's the on island stuff and interspersed throughout all of that is stuff off island. It's Michael going to Sydney. Because because he has these two round trip tickets to go and pick up his son and he goes back to Sydney. He goes to Susan in Brian's as you say Paul Salatiel home just like a beautiful home in Sydney Nanny Waltz. Nanny gives Michael a box of something inside. We we know what it is. It's all of the art. The cards that Michael had created for wall is a very powerful moment. The music is really powerful. And it's also powerful due to the fact that Due to the angle the care that Josh familiar symbol happens to be on the scene. Like I don't know if that's like straight up Dharma wheel but it's certainly an octagon of some kind signed. It looks like a Dharma wheel that is that is framed behind Harold. Perrineau is headed. It's a really cool shot if you haven't gone back and watch the episode. I really really enjoyed watching that scene. And so yeah I mean again like we already talked about Lake Dharma logo in the plane of Oceanic Behind Walt and that seems to have been myth busted and I don't think that this is intended to link directly to the Dharma Initiative at this point. But it's just the kind of stuff when you go back and we lost. You can't can't help but notice this stuff but the flash is going to continue and Michael who is now processing. What's inside? The box looks in the box. He is going to to go to walt and have a very heavy conversation with his son that he has not seen in ten years they will..

Please, please. Laurie's in the living room with Michael Myers, and she is scared to death. It's dark and shadowy. She's petrified. And then he pops up from behind the couch with a knife. Michael stabs, the couch, and she jabs him in the neck with a knitting needle. And then he falls to the ground. And from there, Laurie does a couple frustrating things. She picks up Michael's knife and she throws it away. She should check his corpse. She should stab him again to make sure he's dead. But instead she lives upstairs to check on the children, take a little walk. Buggy man. Scare nothing scared of. Laurie nods. She doesn't see the shadows changing behind her Michael, a very alive. Michael is coming upstairs, killed him. Can't kill the boogeyman. Got to get out of the house. Instead, she hides in a closet where Michael finds her right away. We tried to get ourselves into the safest position possible, which for her was just going all the way to the back of the closet and trying to surround herself with walls that's not rational thought hiding in the closet is pure instinct, which makes sense because fear is our most primal emotion fight or flight the survival instinct that humans share with every animal from cats to dear to cockroaches, but only humans do something unique. We choose to be scared to pay money till it technicians like John carpenter, use lighting and music to hammer on our nervous system to have a blast yelling at Laurie strode to not hide in that closet market. Kerr is a sociologist who studies fear, and she's let a lot about the closet scene in Halloween about why Laurie strode does what we are begging her not to do and why lorries tear makes us scream. And I thought that that that whole scene was so well scripted and directed because it captures so many different elements of fear. And so I think about that scene a lot and just how helpless, you know, she must have. Felt in that location, you know she wanted to protect herself, but in the end ended up trapping herself essentially. And I just, I think that that all really captures the feeling of true fear. You know, when you're helpless, you can't just, you can't have any sense of control over your environment. Margaret uses what she's learned about fear, two different ways. She's written a book called scream, chilling adventures in the science of fear, and and I love this. She also designs haunted houses. Maybe I, Amy, Nicholson. The host of Halloween unmasked should not admit this, but I cannot handle haunted houses still. I am fascinated by people who love screaming for their lives as a cautionary heads up. We're going to hear a real life nine one one call later in the show from a horror fan who took his obsession with Halloween too far. They'll be later in the show, and I will give another warning then if you'd like to skip ahead or make sure that no one impressionable is listening because fear humans, most basic emotion. It's also tied to our most beautiful one empathy. Fear and empathy are intertwined. The human brain is really incredible. We are able to feel the emotions of an experience even though we may not be directly involved in it well, so then what happens in our brains in our bodies when we watch a horror film, when we watch a horror film, there's a bunch of different changes that start happening in our body. I, we're already preparing ourselves for something scary. So the patient starts to build immediately and we know something is going to happen, but we don't know when and so any startle is going to activate our threat response. And we've got a gentleman noradrenaline, cortisol, endorphins dopamine serotonin. All of these different chemicals start coursing through our body, helping us become strong fast and focused when we're scared our bodies literally prepared to run for our lives in electorally. Sure. Yeah, you know that Michael Myers. Isn't real, but your lizard brain, it isn't so sure in that makes your whole body feel alive. Plus who loves to watch horror films with a fistful of twizzlers or peanut Eminem's or giant coke junk food ads to that physical rush. Our body starts turning any available sugar into energy, getting that out to our muscles, and that's why we start to feel kind of fully energized and primal more strong and just ready to to jump or fight or flee. And so our body becomes super activated, our skin temperature goes up as our body is trying to to be the most fuel efficient that it can and we sweat our pupils dilate. All of these changes are happening to prepare us for for uncertainty to to face what danger may come. So even though you know that Michael's not gonna stab you, you're ready for him and your body feels great. You are deliberately wonderfully miserably alive like halloween's little girl. Lindsey Wallace who will not done off the scary movie on TV.

We're back and we are now on the set of Louis where even the word set feels a little bit overblown for what is basically one winnebago. So let's make a movie. The first thing the crew had to do was to get over the idea that John's girlfriend was their producer, and as Tommy explains, if you didn't know Debra or you didn't know anything about the show, you would have said, oh, man, nepotism out. The was this is gonna be a disaster. The only thing was Deborah knew exactly how to produce a movie as she was forceful. She was visionary. She was unafraid. She was courageous and tremendously energetic, Gebre was a powerhouse. She was tremendous. Every movie needs a Deborah, something horrible went wrong, and I was standing there just losing my temper. And I think I said to somebody who the hell did that did this, whatever it was I needed somebody to blame and Deborah stepped up before I finished my sentence and said, it doesn't matter. Let's fix it. And that's Debra hill in nut show. They couldn't afford to film Halloween on location in the midwest, but Tommy realized that Pasadena could double for Illinois if you shot around the palm trees, which well bless their hearts. They tried tummy even found a hundred year old abandoned house for the old Myers place where Lori slips that key under the doormat all had to do to decorate it was at a broken rain gutter. There was no money to build that. So when Laurie strode his hiding in a closet, she is hiding in a real closet and the furniture and lorries bedroom actually belong to Tommy and his girlfriend, Nancy KYW's who plays lawyers, happy, go lucky, best friend, Anne. Michael stabs in the car. Now tell had to make California in April, looked like the mid west on Halloween.
