"Horses that that are a little interesting Black Act Nova for Ron Brown. Yeah who's had a very. Is that a very nice meat. And a consistent me and Black Nova coming off of a a kind of a money allowance against St breads but that win to back against open company. Yep that performance certainly fits in here and you looking at at a twelve to one line. I thought Black Nova needed to be included. And I'm a little interested in. Hey little bit. The Barbara McBride Mayor the seven year old and she keeps good company that that effort the last time which included a number of these as as well as a black Nova it feels like she's kind of circling back to a good race to me and fifteen to one on her. So I don't know too with the six seven nine twelve The marinas legacy. I don't know what the she you know. Going back to the the dirt maybe she is competitive but I guess it depends on how much how much pressure I had Brad Cox yesterday. And and he brought up wonder she's got thunder and then he I think he's expecting a big effort. She did not draw well. That is not an easy trip considering how quick the turn comes up. Yes yeah you mentioned Black Nova he a little bit a couple of thinks about both of those to Philly wants bear Black you know kind of ran a career best rates September twenty. I had a pretty strong taste. Run at didn't have a stronger faith in the in the October sixteenth race which She finished behind hate little bit so I don't know what do you want to call too. Just ray shape or whether whether or not you know balance a little bit a little bit. Though I did bounced back nicely in that race. October sixteenth really. Wasn't that fast early pace the fact that she warn that race On October sixteenth. As is telling me that she is turning around and on her best day she can she can certainly hang with the the top division and But just like Black Nova. She likes to come from quite a bit off the pace so it's just a matter. You know how you think I guess the race is going to uh setup and is a big field Got Marinas Legacy got expect. Any won't be aerospace. I'm sure there's a couple of others in this show since early speed. Well that it gets us to the too much coffee and operation. Stevie the obvious favorite off Gus grissom but he doesn't have to win now no he doesn't You know he did win last time out and When the GUS GRISSOM stakes from off the pace but it was a pretty strong faith and that's toys the cues operation Stevie? Here's a strong days. He he moves away out. Because you know it's GonNa make this is trademark run from the back of the fact And so then it becomes. Well who do you like in this race besides that you know little. Kansas is Kinda really it has really improved in him. Beat this season you know came back has a nose for for the finish line. Came back in a bank on September. Looked like he was never gonNA get up with the wind and somehow did and I was like all all right. That's a nice way. But you know I don't know about the brickyard stakes in which you know A big field of strong Indiana red sprinters. ran in but t got up again again by a nose in in that race and then went around to turns once again and ran pretty good because that was due west Ran One of his best races lifetime lifetime and he's in this race by the way Devil's due west. Probably in the next one I talk about but the little. Kansas doesn't usually have as much early speed as Devil's due west and devotee west. You know he's renting big races that have just manned there whether or not he can repeat another big race just two races in a row. And that's a huge question dimarco with with that gelding with Fernando de la Cruz. Back aboard once again for trainer Michael Weaver you hit you hit the highlights delights and Little Kansas. Little Kansas got my attention and I I don't I don't I don't see who somebody's somebody's GonNa have to. Somebody's going to have to leave here. I guess I duNno mystery unbridled. Maybe once yeah flower Pecker wrecker hacker could see mystery unbridled Who ran almost too good to lose In the GUS GRISSOM stakes When he lost by a head Operation Stevie in in the race before that that was just a racist alliance you that race he had all he was ranked behind horses? Horse came out on him. I'm a turn just complete disaster trip in and last time Mattia bad draw you know showed speed but he was on the outside. The extreme outside and You know got into position but flattened out in the stretch at the raise the devil's due west. One and little candidates finished second now. He's Moore for the In more of an inside draw post number six and you know there's not a whole lot a speech at the inside of him so he's GonNa trip around it. I earn so misery. Umbrella might be a long shot that to us in the too much coffee. A Ah I'M GONNA mention one other Horse Randy Matt Abuse Randy Matthews from limited. Starters had an excellent meet won fifteen races and fifty eighty four starts and Randy Matthews does a great job overall here comes doc stretched out in the in the GRISSOM and it turned in a a good effort he was he took some money. And that was off of a series of sprints. He hadn't gone to turns in a while he he's interesting in here at six to one to I. In fact I may end up. I may end up on here comes dock a Kasichs the ones the right. That's the right number. Yeah I think so yeah He certainly surprised me. How much money took In the GUS grissom sick went went off in the second choice behind Operation Phoebe but was like Seventy five eight to five and in the pricing at the end of the banning So they were high on here comes docking all right you know he was proving every call and you know finishing third in the race So yeah if Operation Stevie doesn't fire hire there's going to be probably a decent price wins it and it certainly could be here comes dot. Well bill things close out with a maiden maiden race and then a quarter race for the season. And it's been so much fun to have you on and I can't thank Indiana grant the NAFA and we hope that that people have taken an interest and have looked at Indiana if grand if you hadn't previously it's been a really good year. The racing has been inconsistent nice size fields. And you know it's fun when you when you've got a circuit where you can count on. You know regular horses running on a on a steady basis and it makes it makes it fun you get a lot of bet bax and trips and traps as Andy. famously called them and created that concept so I just look forward to next year and finished with a bank today. All Right Steve. We'll do it's been a lot of fun I I. I concur on my end as well. Bill down everybody bill downs one and for those of you that have played. The price of farmland has risen from about eight thousand dollars an Acre acre a few decades ago to twenty thousand dollars today and fewer and fewer amish farming the majority were outside the home in businesses and construction and so they're moving into towns Strasburg Township Supervisor Michael Weaver is driving a black jeep wrangler on whiny back roads past farms and small clusters of homes spaced well apart. This is a prime example right here. He stops outside one fairly modest beige ranch house with what appears to be a large garage or a small barn. It's a carriage house with room for two horses and a buggy plot of ground butts no more than a half. Acre it used to be needed one acre of land per horse to keep the animal on your property but township zoning board was getting inundated with requests for exceptions from Amish moving onto smaller lots so the supervisors voted to allow up to two horses for the purpose of transportation to be kept on a half Acre Weaver says the rule change was made as a compromise between the Amish and who they call the English or non Amish. I have seen a cultural clash between between the Amish community and the English the religious group nearly doubles in size every two decades and it's starting to feel a little crowded in Lancaster county where Amish are about seven percent of the population to chat lap who has amish changes in township rules aren't enough to help his people continue. He wants to see more of his people moving to protect their faith and culture from the mainstream name. That influence comes back into the period. You can't change that but many are tied to the land. A local amish man says though he's had family members move. He's never considered leaving. We're not naming him because most amish don't allow recordings of themselves or religious reasons. This man fears backlash clash from his community if they knew he had allowed it as he sits at the end of his driveway his big white farmhouse just out of view. "Go on back play, and it was like, it was so fun, but it's it's lucky golf is not exactly like a kid sport. You kinda have to get a little bit fortunate in the sense that it's slower and it's not nearly as fun as a basketball game or playing football or whatever. So. I got lucky where we grew up on a very cool junior program where they made it very interesting, and you know, way more fun than it usually usually intensity and then got to a play golf at UC Berkeley and. Kind of started. I obviously taking it seriously, but then when you get to call, it really is like a fulltime job fulltime fulltime and we had a great team. One of the best teams, I think in college golf history. Plaguing some great golfers and we'll let me stop you there because you're being a little bit modest. You were telling us last night, some more detail, but for folks from when you played that first part five to what you're at, one of the best. No, it just clicked after the par-five. Awesome. God wait. Tow people why that team might not be remembered for being the greatest team ever? Yeah. And kind of what you guys were able to accomplish? Yeah, we my senior year, it was kind of one of those. Cool. Obviously, UC Berkeley is not like a powerhouse name in any sport, really. But we had a cool situation where we had myself Brandon Hagan Michael Weaver, Michael, Cam, and Joel Salter. And we had all kind of been maybe like UC. Berkeley was our second or third choice, and we had a couple of people redshirt. Michael Kim came in, Joel Salter came in and my senior year, everybody was on, like all five of us were ready to go ready to play, and we went out there and I don't know we, we all blocked out for like a solid eight months. And we we won eleven of thirteen play events. The two we lost by one stroke each, and we got to nationals in the whole reason that the season just like did not and appropriately was because it's matchplay now and we won the strokeplay portion in three days by thirteen and then got to match play. We actually be John roms Arizona state team in the first round, and then play Thomas Peters team, Illinois who they have. They had a great team that him and Brian Campbell. And I think Thomas de tree and their team was was sick, but we played them in, came down to me and Thomas on the twentieth hole for the, you know, to get into the finals play just in Thomas's Alabama team and we lost it stunt, man. There's no excuses that's the format, but it was kind of lame. We had lost to. That was our like thirteen. We had lost two all season and they had lost four that week, so wasn't wasn't the greatest thing ever. That was kind of disappointing, especially for me 'cause they all got another year to play that year was the most fun you could imagine, especially for golf, which is obviously not a team sport it was it was. I mean, we felt like Tiger Woods must feel every day of his life, but like everywhere we went like, you know, if we play all right, we'll probably win. And it was like so delusional, but so much fun at the same time and. No, I guess we, I guess actually now I don't feel so bad about losing because I know Justin Thomas needed another trophy in his trophy case. We kinda gave him one. So big deal. Yeah. I mean, honestly, he was probably really nervous about playing me the next day. So I'm so glad of that. Didn't have to happen for them. Let me pause that to tell that's exactly the same as my high school. Gulf me break that tournament by turning you get your being modest as you did win the NCAA the individual title that week as well. Yeah, I did. And the Pac twelve. Yeah, just. I think tiger is one that texted me, but he says, just me him and Phil of done it. We won't. We won the Pac twelve and then nationals thous while I hadn't actually never won outright college golf tournament tied one and then got tip Pac twelve is in my hometown and played well, and then went to nationals in. I mean, that was obviously the time..
