"He and the whole committee. You can imagine a scenario and this is what every client wants to talk about in some shape or form. Inflation is down, but still high. Unemployment is up. Maybe it's four and a half, maybe it's 5%. Equities, not so good. What do you do if you're the fed? One thing you do for sure is get a lot of pushback from Congress. It is. And it's going to do intensify quite a bit. It's going to put the fed in a really tough spot. So if unemployment does head up to four and a half or 5%, those J Powell really hang in and fight inflation. It's an open question. I think he will want to. The rest of the committee, we're not sure. All right, Michael, good to see you. Thank you for coming. Thanks Melissa. Pleasure. All right, so Bon went, how do you think about all that? I think Michael ray is a couple of good points. So in terms of reaching a terminal rate and then persisting there, I think that's really what's not priced in. Like we said, 75 is kind of off the table in terms of we already know that's all but a given 50 at least the following month is all but a given. And then the economic conditions are also kind of the variable there. And I think it's presupposed that we're going to get to some terminal rate, have some massive erosion and underlying economic dynamics. And then be forced to pivot. But that may not happen. And a lot of the economic indicators that we're getting, in fact, whether it be jolts, whether it's construction, whether it's the last GDP reading, are still saying that things are holding up holding up very well. So we might have a longer tail or top to that plateau than perhaps is suspected. We talk about the pressure that's coming from Congress on the fed. I mean, this is a group of legislators also that are like traders. They have not seen an environment where they haven't had the tailwind of monetary policy. And do your job too. Fiscal policy at many times is really not matched up. I'm not encouraging because we've been watching this tug of war between fiscal monetary over the last three weeks, especially in the UK. I just point that out. I think you get back to the sectors that perform in lower growth environments, and yet can have pricing power inflation. It sounds boring, but healthcare and consumer Staples are going to continue to work. I think energy will continue to work because there's nothing in this backdrop that I think deteriorates demand so badly when we're demand constrained around the world right now. All right, coming up. "There's a new story now, Matt Harvey, who was a great pitcher for the mets. They called him The Dark Knight. And he's now involved in this death of a California angels pitcher who was taken percocet and did Coke and Harvey happen to be there. Harvey happened to give him the pills and this guy ODed and Harvey's career is basically over. Because you look back on his days as it met when he didn't show up for spring training when he had a fight with a teammate when he left, but he needed to get out of a game early. You go, wait, those are cocaine moments. You recognize that now, some of us saw that stuff happening and said, he's on, he's on blow, man. I can tell. I knew when Doc gooden was getting high as it met. But Coke game was all around us in the 80s in New York, especially in New York. We had our athletes alone, Lawrence Taylor, Michael ray Richardson, Doc gooden, Dallas strawberry, Keith Hernandez, his career was almost room because he couldn't shake cocaine. Mike Tyson, of course, everywhere. But this fall of Matt Harvey's has been quick and steep.

I think you'd rather just bury him and do a steering contest because the thing is, I've been waiting for this to happen with somebody where the player who thinks he has all the leverage who's already getting paid who just thinks he can decide what to do. Actually picks the wrong fight. And in this case, it's the wrong fact. Is Doc Rivers certainly doesn't care. He's been in the NBA for four decades. He's not gonna back down to this guy. Sixers owners don't care. Darrell had all of China coming after him. He's fine. And then the Philly fans, there are the same way. So it's like this is the one situation where I think the player picked the wrong battle. Even the Kyrie thing, there's people will cave in the Kyrie thing. It'll happen. I don't think there's going to be caving in this Philly thing. Well, and the one thing, too, that we can't stress enough is. You know how tough Philly fans are, even when you're trying and you're struggling a little bit, this kid can not I mean they'll destroy him. And he was already and I learned this from the piece I did on Ben a couple years ago, already a little sensitive to what Philly fan said about him and thought about him in this whole idea of they like Joelle better and all this other stuff. I mean, they'll destroy him now, because anyone that was maybe on the fence, which I can't imagine there are many Philly fans left that that's the case. After this today, how can you possibly even do anything that suggests any inkling of empathy or humanity regarding him? Because he's basically thumbing his nose at you, your team, your coach, your TM, your franchise player, everybody. And showed up to collect some paychecks, which was pretty transparent. And that's not going to play well either. Well, now, so now you suspend us. So here's my question. I go back to this again. What if? And I don't have no inside knowledge. This is just me projecting, which is what we like to do. What if Ben Simmons is cam comes out and says, Ben Simmons has some mental health issues. He needs to take some time away. This is no different as we've said over and over and over in this league than a torn ACL. A broken mind is just as important as a broken leg. He needs to take a leave of absence. And the sixers would have to pay him, wouldn't they? Yeah, if that happens, which I think is a real possibility, I would hope it's genuine because I think that would demean the people who actually battle. I couldn't agree more. But I would say, based on everything we've seen that's gone on with mint Ben Simmons, I think there's some stuff going on with him. Legitimately, there's stuff going on with him. And there was some stuff in that even in that Ramona piece about this situation with his family, which we knew and we've talked about a load on the pod. But yeah, it seems like there's a lot of burdens with this dude. I think he has some real family issues. And I think it's like the stuff we talked about in the past, the difference between fearful and fearless and janus how fearless that guy is. That guy is unafraid of everybody and everything and every situation. And if something bad happens, he's on to the next play and Ben Simmons is just the opposite. And it seems like something changed in him between senior and high school and LSU where he became fearful instead of fearless. Right. But yet, we have again examples throughout history. You know, Magic Johnson came out as a rookie in 1980 and he was fearless. He played all 5 positions you want him a championship. And then, you know, in Boston garden, four years later, three years later, he dribbles out the clock and misses free throws and everyone's calling him tragic magic. And then within a year he's wins a championship again. So it's at least he had the baseline of he had had some real success. I guess the issue that fans I talked to are like, what are Ben Simmons wins? What are the things we can point to where it's like, well, he came through that time. It doesn't exist. So when you combine that with all the stuff that's happening now, and we've seen, I mean, you really, you don't have to go back to the cocaine era where you see guys who just tail off. Right? But it was always drugs, or it was always some sort of terrible knee injury. Like, you know, what happened to grand hill or what happened to it? Right. Yeah, which is a shame. But you go back to the 80s and you go look at some of the basketball. Go look at like John drew, go look at John Lucas. Go look at microwave Richardson. These guys, Michael ray Richardson so on, you know, everybody always says he was going to be the missing piece for X, Y and Z, you know, all those guys. Hey, go all the way back to Spencer, Hayward. Who tells who tells his story very plainly that he should have won three championships with the Lakers? But he's too busy being coked up. And God bless him. He's clean now and he's a great he's a great cautionary tale and is so eloquent it telling it. But but I don't think that's what's going on here. I'm not saying that that's what's going on. I know you're not over the course MBA history where Elgin bail is another one, right? Everybody says LJ heard his knee at some point in the mid 60s. Right. It was just never the same. And that's it. So we've seen it with injuries. We've seen it with drugs. We've seen guys get a little funky like latrell sprewell. I think people forget he was first team all in BA and gold state midnight. I would say he was probably the third best two garden the league when he strangled PJ. Looked at his career was over, but he came back. I don't I'm really starting to wonder as Ben Simmons come back in a way that this doesn't that it doesn't drag this around. Now you could say sprewell did. It's pretty well choked his coach was a pariah and was a hero for the Knicks within a year and a half. How about Ron artest, destroyed the league with malice in the palace? Get some counseling. Thanks his psychiatrist on the podium as he beats the Celtics in Boston for an NBA championship. Happens. So I guess the difference with this is we've pointed to all these different things. It's like injury. Some sort of terrible incident drugs. I don't remember just this guy doesn't really like it here situation. Snowballing like this has. But I guess I would push back that I think there's more to it. That's why I'm arguing this mental health, just look between the lines. Some of the things you're talking about, I just think it's a bigger issue. And if it is, it's one that no one will be sympathetic towards, but I will, if.

"For the first time stance. There you go all that happened today on country music history. Amy's got a new podcast today on the four things with amy brown. Do you have somebody. Is alan jackson's daughter. Yeah her name. Is matt jackson selectmen. And we did all four things together and she just has her. She's a grief story having been that. She lost her husband at such a young age. They weren't even married a year and he died tragically so she shares kind of house. She's found peace in that circumstance. And i think it could be comforting to a lot of people. She's a writer. She's coming out with a book. She has a lot of philanthropy work. I'm like well for someone that grow up with like a superstar. Dad you know like you never know that at all will check it out. Four things with amy brown. Did you get to that in person or on zoom. She came over to my house School yeah she's very cold some saying like you would never know. She grew up her when she was growing up. Her dad is like one of the best things in country music. So she's very grounded and kind and sweet and smart awesome. When you people will come to your house. They come to the front door in the living room. That's what used to have in my house to all right. Come on and they have. I mean i've seen on the couch where we have some brownies. I dunno now. We don't do it in the house. How we do it like in a guest could guess part of the on the property that to me is more comfortable. Yeah why. I feel like i have to clean up. Always had to clean up the house for sure. That's that's and that's my point here. I hate cleaning up. Because thomas rhett was coming over but then i thought he'd go back to larne be like don't ugly my sears or close to the door so we can kind of just like asher like and go right out of snacks ready for them and stuff like oh. I'm glad you asked to thank you for asking nothing your wallet water refrigerator. And so sometimes remember. Sometimes we don't get water anything in the greatest experience. You didn't get out. Yeah sometimes because michael go get them. And i'll be ready with all my notes and stuff. I also hate the small talk before the interview. It's the worst thing to me. Because i want that on the air because like what's up. What would up to. What's happening today house. I i like that because sometimes they they are me. I ask or they say something. We'll get checking your mike o. Hated hated men as hate it amy. You're the same way there's no. I don't hate it. I try to keep the. I've learned that from bobby over the years. I wanted to come out on the air for the first timer when we're recording so i try to keep the small talk to a minimum but obviously i don't bobby difference Socially loves to talk at no interest in it right so not not with mike with anybody. Yeah just a quiet guy. At when i'm not doing this. I want wanna put on caroline hobby for a second. We're eight carolina. how are you hall. How's it going. What are you doing right now. I mean i really don't know how to tell you what's going on. Well i mean kind of i that then walking clinic because they have salmonella sick well would you eat. I don't know why. But why do you think it's a weird diagnosis immediately. Well okay. Because my god i mean this is not necessarily the conversation i was trying to have the oughta go ahead Michael when he goes on the road is really sensitive stomach and he has had about seven ella. And like i mean. Is this what we're gonna talk about issues. We didn't i've i ibn it sucks. I deal with every day but the runs for like five days. It's not healthy. You gotta go get out you know. I deal with that in the medicine. I take for my stomach issues. I've had for years. I finally got a check out. Yeah it's carolina nor calling her day sign. This is a surprise call. I'm excited to talk to you. Guys i just wanted to talk to him for second about a couple of things one about once a week in and i look at all the data from the podcast there on the podcast network. That i have carolyn. Podcast kills it. It's doing so good. What what are you surprised you. I was interviewed about that. Like how is it doing so well. And i don't mean this guy in any way other than i'm just going to say i don't know maybe your consistency. You're obviously fun to listen to. I mean i don't know in any of the other reasons that would be so obvious because it might. You can go ahead great at promoting it like. I'm not even like really like i'm so bad there's media all my special media is so like random just thrown together. I'm like it's not curated and it's not like super like put together and i'm like how is it like all of a sudden doing so i don't wanna jeeps it 'cause like now then it might go back down mike over the mike for microphone for second mike and i have also had conversations and you know i think you're fantastic as a talent but i went to mike and i was like. Hey why's caroline's killing it. Is this some sort of a. Is it like a promo somewhere. They're getting weird promotion but it's been killing it for like four months now. She does a great podcast. She's consistent and she has great guests. And i think she's awesome like a lot of how much how much work put into it and it's been around for awhile now so it's just been growing well carolina hobby you guys. Check out get real. Hey yeah and i mean we might even talk about and someone else. Sorry i don't mean to say that usually get real with caroline. Hobby is a fantastic podcast. What is on the last episode. You did. I eat in. And i'm assessing breath. Eat and because she's so beautiful and so talented. She has so much heart and soul and she was living a lie for like four years trying to pose as a straight woman in country music when really. She was madly crazy in love with a woman. hillary who i also love and so she just came out into her full truth as a gay woman and country music and put out new music. And it's so good. She's like sexier than ever and she's more confident than ever. She's madly in love and she's like proud about it being like this open about it and i feel like she's like hitting her stride and blowing up and being so over because she's being honest and authentic and it's just different firing 'cause she was like literally on the brink of death. She had so many stomach ulcers she was withering away. She was just killing herself by living. This lie and so coming out was a huge deal and it's been awesome and her story is amazing. Her michael ray used to date back in the day. I think good michael right. He's had some great gal. I mean he's gotten a lot of potty fatalities in the music industry. Yeah yeah yeah..
