"The star studded high production surrealistic musical sitcom shangri la plaza was originally produced as a pilot for b. nineteen ninety ninety one season but for one night only the network decided to air it as a summer fill in on july thirtieth nineteen ninety and that half hour made history. Well kind of in a really weird bad way. So we're gonna talk about the sitcom shangri la plaza. All of the weirdness that occurs around it to talk about cop rock. That was abc. Same year that this came out. It has a very cop rock field. But what is what are your reactions to this the intro. I could not tell you what it was about. If you pay me any amount of money it so abstract i guess and never mind the cheesiness. that's i expect that it's one thousand nine hundred ninety experimental. Things are a little bit weird. I was just saying that. Like i guess seinfeld came and say yeah television at that point but i could not tell. It seemed like a place. Where maybe there's food and abc live. I don't know what is highly. It's hard to tell it's it all began really with nineties. L. a. mall culture shangrila was inspired by that and it was filmed on location in north hollywood strip mall at the corner of vineland and burbank boulevard. In north hollywood california just went for it. This set a strip mall was built on top of an original strip mall which is where the problems really begin. This mall on mall design was the topic of a washington post story in nineteen ninety emmy award winning art director. Kind of creating something colorful and also their love of musicals. It's like a hat and a hat on a hat. The pitch to cbs was also pretty weird. The schmaltz kings cleared off sagansky desk and with the keyboard and two speakers. They perform songs from the show in character.

House productions, and it's got the low kids sitting in the corner and the the spinning rocking chair because they are a little bit more. Now, the concept of the movie could be really really simple. Really really basic but the way they shoot the movie The cinematography in the movie is always awesome. The music really really awesome. The cut scenes are really really good to the stories flow very, very well, and because of my film theater. And you're like I, don't know what Bloom House production is but you've seen them and here's a top list of all the ones that they started in two thousand. Twenty years ago. Not Luigi Weedy G Board unfriendly, which I just watched the other day and if you watch on fronted it's on Netflix right now it's a really unique concept on how they made just your computer screen itself a horror movie. That's all you see is someone's computer screen and like skype calls, and then that's it. You don't there's no outside footage there's no cameras walking around the building there's no dubbed-in video leads it. Is. One hundred percent done on a computer screen and that's really cool I just watched it. The other day was on call him Fred. Scary nuts gary. It's unique. You just wanted to see it unfold. "It. I don't know that it's daunting the communities amazing and that's the great thing Everybody I'm meat is incredibly helpful Even Fred Mimic. He's he's the one that helped kroger so I'm by introducing me to to the buyer and you know now that thing about this ride tasted very familiar. Not headed at Fred's office he goes. This is the next big stiller it. 'cause the smoking is our reminds me of when I had it so anyway Sadeq. Yeah so it's been amazing. I mean at the One of the words thing Jeff Arnett one master Distiller Jack. Daniel's master distiller and I went out and talked to him because you WANNA say Hello. You know right. Oh my God and He was the nicest man and we got talking. And he's from Jackson Tennessee where my brother lives. That's a surgeon and We had a family farm in Shelbyville which is which Flat Creek Tennessee. Which was seven miles from Jack Daniels? Seven miles to. Dickel so I told him that and we really hit it off and then my brother was doing a charity. Didn't know I had met Jeff but knew he was from Jackson and reached out to him to do a tasting the charity and because he was from Jackson he did it. And my brother called me and said you know. That's WHO's coming and I was like. Oh I just met him and he's like wow and so I went with my brother's friend our partner that had a twin prop plane and we flew from Jackson to tell Homa and picked up jeff and literally when I walked off the plane. He was walking up on the tarmac. And he's like. Hey Michael How's it going and I I mean I'd met him once in person but he knew who I was and was it was amazing and We've become friends. I text him all the time. I'm GonNa go see him tomorrow The first time I went to Jack he shortly after that charity said come down. I'll show you around. And and he put me in his personal truck and he said what do you WanNa see? He said whatever you WANNA see I'll show you anything. And that's amazing and respect because Jeff's had everything he's also master. But you got a company like Jack Daniels. You have every resource imaginable the whereas you kind of had no resources and made it work. So there's gotta be something that you can learn from each other. I yes and he's alluded to that and and is very respectful that I make a Colorado Whiskey. And you know that's the thing. I Love Kentucky Bourbon. I love Tennessee whiskey. I Love Scotch Irish whiskey. But I'm not looking to make a Kentucky Bourbon in Colorado my Bourbon. My whiskey. My Ri- are to be different big bold beautiful My my brand There's a few names but one's rugged refine rebellious we also hard made the Colorado Way and then another tagline is Write it like you stole it. Drink it like you own. Nice like it and so You know I set out to do this. And and it's been amazing I mean I think it's pretty warm reception writing. Congratulations for coming to Kentucky. It's a it's a big step nationals feet. Oh definitely definitely a and not only that is you know. I'm talking to you about the progression of where it is or where it was to what it is today. Everything comes with with growing pains to right. Yeah definitely so kind of talk about. Did you have a specific time of of growing here? That you're like okay. Like I wish it was just me and the sixty gallons it so the one thing about being a photographer consistently you have to build teams of people. `specially doing fashion say hair makeup stylist model all that kind of stuff location. That was helpful for me in in growing this and finding people that could help me grow it so I have a team about thirteen people right now. It's an amazing team. They do phenomenal work. But yeah there were. There were times and they're still times you know. I'm bootstrapping it. So there there's tight times with money. There's tight times with barrels. Not Being ordered panic. You know bottle panic. You know things like that when I first started That was something I wanted. Mentioned earlier about a pallet to get not this bottle but my original bottle which is similar this but this one came along when I could buy thirty thousand or promise. I'd buy thirty promise but this one. I could buy a pallet of and my mom had given me a coup ran at some point and CA- grand is an ounce of gold. And thank you for explaining that because I was about to say I have no idea what you're talking. Yeah it's a South African coin and so I was making whisky and that three hundred gallon. I needed a bottle. They were they. Give me a better price. If I bought a pallet or or to buy the bottle I had to buy a pallet and gold was up expensive than and I literally took back. Gran cashed it in and bought a palette of bottles And was able to put them in that three hundred square foot space built built shelves and made it where you know they weren't really in the way and it was kind of crazy but So there are growing pains. I mean you know the most nervous have been that I can remember is working on this move for this. Twenty eight thousand square feet It's it's big we. We won't renovate IT AND BUILD IT out beautiful with four production line facility. We're going to move in with what we have now and grow at like. I did from the three hundred seventy five hundred square foot. That worked really well but we have. Our model is a ramp. I mean it's a it's steep curve and so we have a lot to get done in the next four years with making whisky and you know there. There are growing pains. I it it is not easy. There hasn't been a day where I was like. Oh my God I'm not going to the distillery I give up. I'm done from day one to now There's that's crossed my mind. Yeah that's awesome as the means. You're Lovin it. I guess you don't have to think of the Olsen twins that they still need me. Yeah that's a funny thing. I broke out a box of Polaroid's so back in the day before digital you were doing light tests and stuff used a polaroid back on the camera so you would take the picture strobes go off. And you pull the polaroid wait a minute and then and like pushing that button every forty and you'd peel it and you'd look at light so I have. I kept most of those polaroid's got boxes of them and I open one up the other day and there's some really beautiful pictures in it. Showed it to friend and they were like. Oh my God you gotTa Start. Shooting again like. I don't know that that's happening. But I did reach out to hairdresser friend. And a couple of them at that time with the Polaroid's and posted on instagram with it and and hadn't talked to them in years ten years and they're like talk and it was really great makes me WanNa maybe try one day and who knows but not union at the distillery with all your grade all your photography client. Cr got it photography clients and bring them to your distiller. Look what I'm doing now. Party can get bottle shots done on a cheap right. You can do those. That's a funny thing. I don't shoot my bottle really. You don't don't do ours while you're here. I shoot 'em with iphone for in situation but to set them up and shoot them. I mean I can do it no problem but I'm I'm a little too close to the product and also it's different frame of mind and to get in that frame of mind. It would take me a few days or are weak Working with the bottles and stuff to to get the light and and it's just easier to for me to pick somebody and I like his pictures and I can direct what I want from there and so that you know you coming from the photographer background and you know we're all kind of doing a lot of stuff with whiskey in and I remember. I talked to somebody about doing bottle photography. And I'm like you charge. What Lincoln Mixture of bottle? I mean. It's something that I had. No idea existed before then. So it's it's it's a really cool that you kind of have you can blend a lot of these worlds together and you know how to direct and stuff like back as I'd be like I don't know a river in the background like you tell me what looks cool. Yeah and I I have a business partner in New York Or we were in a retouching company. Rusk lack and he He still re touches. He's an amazing toucher and so I sent him stuff all the time. I mean funny things but I send him bottle shots and and I can directing and I can. I can take a bottle you know if it was shot in the same light and have him put it like five bottles in one picture very easily and stuff like that so. I understand how to do that. So that's where I you know. I can direct it and get it done on the cheap. I mean everybody else that would cost them a ton of money But but I did. We were a tasting and there was a airplane behind me and I had a call sign number on the side of it and it's old World War Two type plane with that blocked number and I took of iphone picture of it and Senator. Russ text it to him and said can you change that to to ninety-one literally thirty minutes later. It came back to me on my phone and it was perfect. Yup Awesome and posted it and people like to ninety one and I also did it this summer on a bowl. The brand on a bull somebody. It was like three o one and I asked him to ninety-one on it and they're like I didn't see that bull with that brand. That's really funny. That's good to know people. I guess so. I guess kind of last question before we start wrapping. This up is Neil. You've you said ninety five percent in Colorado you're going to Kentucky. I'm sure that you've got plans to even go beyond their kind of talk about one last thing that you kind of leave listeners. With as they are looking for another walk in the store they see your bottle maybe they hear this like what's one thing you want to leave them with. I want them to enjoy my whiskey. There's a funny thing I I drink my whiskey neat. It's rare. I drink it on the rocks but I I also in the summer or when I feel like I drink my bourbon with Mountain dew. I drink my Ri- with lemonade. Person I know does my dad mazing drink and it's a nice drink summer drink and I want to drink bourbon. I also drink. I don't drink vodka bloody MARYS. I DRINK RI- bloody. Marys and those are phenomenal. But I want somebody try whiskey. I wanted to take him back to Western days and and enjoy it. And it's unapologetic whiskey. It's it's a big bold whiskey and I'm really proud of it. The other thing that we didn't talk about is the cage. That's on there so when I was young there was a the cork in cage cage holds the Cork End When I was young watch. Tbs in the morning and Saturday morning cartoons and then if it rained the later it got old movies. Come on and there was an old movie where they were transporting Nitroglycerin in a wagon and they had wired all the bottles in so it wouldn't balance and when I started making high proof whiskey. I'm like we gotta wire the Cork on. And so that's where that cage comes from. Gotcha Gotcha now. We know there's a story to everything. There is my watch. Yeah my watches. My Dad's watch and Every time I shake it down it reminds me of how. Yeah go cool very go. Well Michael Thank you again for coming over here on coming on the show and of course sharing your whiskey with us. I think it's an incredible story of what you've built and the team. That's building this and you know the direction it's going as well. I think everybody's pretty excited for the future of what this is going to entail for. Y'All thank you same here. Kenny and Ryan. I'm very appreciated to be on the show and Yeah I that's you know we have an experimental batch called the We love to experiment. I glove making my whiskey. I Love Selling. I love giving it away to people to try it tastings and even people I meet. Give him a bottle. Khazal share it and I love that so I really appreciate today. Thank you guys. Absolutely thank you for coming. It was a tour inspiration. I mean most companies. We have on even. If they're new they go out and get big time investments or you know. Get a lot of cash flow to back them up to hear somebody. Just go source parts from Craig's list. Not Getting but You know just wanted to do some and find a way to like make it happen is like it's so inspiring to me. I think it's a very cool story and I'm excited for the brain. That's gosh the rise awesome. I love the really good. Thanks so much but yeah it's it was a pleasure talking to you and hearing all your stories on for sure. Glad to be a part of it absolutely end. "One. He Might Not Flinch he might not even give you an inch to you might not undertaker down and just when you feel good about it. He just sits back up again. Michael Myers is exactly that like he just doesn't take damage. He'll take all of the brutality the time he's been hit with a fire acts. I mean like what are you doing it with a chainsaw just not this is a level of violence not capable he could though because he's got opposable thumbs in yeah I would love to see the episode where he uses opposable thumbs to chainsaw someone to death. You're a sick person. Why did you want to see that episode ray little do because they take on the government list right now that's horrible and and that's really history? That's the entirety of my point number two. Is that anything that Scooby Doo is going to be able to dish out at Michael Myers. Michael Myers is going to stab them. Repeatedly and Mike Myers cannot be hurt by these conventional means. I don't even know what to say. This is such a slam. I'm done five on four basketball. He missed the five zero basketball fest over and over again. Good luck. Jane Count Chickens. Thank you stopping. Me Is the moderator who want it's a like integrity but I don't know what's going to happen. No no conventional ways to take out scooby doo or Scooby Doo to take out Michael Myers right. There's no conventional away from do it good things. Scooby Doo is highly unconventional right and all all of his episodes now just put that out there <hes> I will say that Michael Myers with a psychopathic mindset. It's a it's a fact that you know if you have that weird former psychosis away Michael Myers does you can actually almost turn off pain or decide to ignore it which is part of that whole character. I think Michael Myers was the the inspiration was when John Carpenter actually went to like an asylum of swords and solid at twelve to thirteen year old boy sitting by himself and the way he looked at it was just like there was nothing like I couldn't register. What was an really freaked out? That's what I want for. Michael Myers fires okay. I'm not going to other than being able to take us. I'M NOT GONNA disagree with anything that he just didn't point number to accept that all of it because it doesn't work okay so let me let me point number to your rebuttal is just know all right. Well your point number two was he's just as good as I made him out to be important number one. You know what I mean like you did so that's my number. One was offense defense. That's all I'm going for here. We'll go okay okay point point number two scooby Doo. Maybe we're a lot of people call incredibly lucky right because he doesn't get hurt a lot. He doesn't get killed ever. He's been put at risk thousands of times and he's okay and what I say is I. I don't actually think he's incredibly. Luckily I just think he's that good like he's actually skilled rate. How many times is Michael Myers been killed or at least dispatched a handful of times? I mean generally as the villain slasher film at the end of the movie. They need to get over on you at the end. That is just how these movies work. I'd love to see the movies with the slasher killer kills. Everybody is like done and then he's over. It just doesn't happen very often so you're saying he's been killed. A number of times is that what has he been killed because he keeps coming back five admits after the first movie ended dispatcher defeated he has to be fair. That is the nature horror film okay so the answers. I was just looking for yes. I won't give it to you. Okay good you know he's been blown up. Shot stabbed run over I mean he's even been you know allude to being decapitated and then they kind of right con that in the next film cafeteria next to them they were like no he didn't somehow that was an ambulance attendant who by the way had willingly had a knife in his hand and the William Shatner mask even with Michael Myers loses. It's not lose who says okay so. Let me ask you question..

"So that that was the end of the the round of sixteen went onto the quarterfinals. We had Michael Myers and Jason the matchup. Everybody's wanted to see forever. And actually went to Michael Myers with sixty five percent of the vote. You agree with that? No, not at all. Do you think that had to do with the fact that the movie was out? Yes. Absolutely. The hype same with penny wise man, it's topical at the time. More people are into the character. They'll survive longer popularly. I'd say if this was last year when did it come out that last year the year before he would've killed it? He would just you know. He lost coming up all over that next. But the next next quarter. Final was Freddie versus it. I thought this won't be much closer because of what you just said. But it wasn't, Freddie. Took seventy five percent of the vote while. Yeah, that was a landslide. And I thought after pennywise snuck in there he would have had a little bit more support. But now, Freddie is the the master it ended after round one and surprisingly pennywise only has nine kills. That's it. That's it. Just just on screen or does that count the book to now does not count the book? I'm only doing movies nemo, man. I'm not researching books. I only listen to read don't give me that. I like to be read to do. Those kills all Countess full kills because there were children. Anything though, she count as double. All right. So then we go to the semi-finals we had Freddie versus Michael. And I didn't mention this before Michael Myers thirteen movies hundred twenty plus kills. I had a kind of estimate that one. She saw the last one, you know, that, you know, the kill count is high, but I didn't count how many they were. But it somewhere hundred twenty plus Freddie, only like forty two. But Freddie, took this one fifty four percent of the votes went to, Freddie. Well, he is one of the greats of all time in Hawera. So I just didn't see shake Alec that. I thought with that movie coming out and actually it was out at this time when we did this. So thought maybe he would ride in but did not all right. So onto the hero side ago quicker with these because there are really no stats the hero's. Sorry, how many lives were saved? Yeah. Encounter shit, usually only one themselves round one. We had ash as Williams. Of course, we had NADA from the live. We had Tommy Jarvis. Then we had Helen Lyle from Candyman where do you think this went easily Helen Mirren? She's an Oscar wetter grape, oops. Does your matter. The the decades stacked old lady it went to ask him. He's one of those characters that she's just the personification of cool and bad ass. I think he personifies that better than anybody. Yeah. He killed in here. Yeah. Probably better than Freddie. Krueger. I don't know if you've seen blank man with Damon wyans, you gotta fucking point. There is a super here though. Yeah. That's true. I'm surprised nobody trying to throw one of those hugger mar. Because a lot of people listen people if we didn't pick somebody like just write it in the comments don't say where so personal the lose. Yeah. Just just write it in. If we had enough write in votes than what everything needs to be contested. Yeah. We'll put them in other rounds come on. Oh, he won at sixty five percent of that vote but round two again nother landslide one. We had Nancy, of course, from Iran, elm street mic ready from the thing is it MC ready, or is it MAC ready? I always thought it was his name needy. But I'll greedy. Yeah. Yeah. You're right. That's the way it's spelt. Does not look the way it's pronounced then we had caroll-ann the was at poltergeist, and then bub bub from day of the dead. One of my all time favorite horror movies who I was shocked did not get more love in this one. He got one vote. Yeah. I think that was fucking me. He's the only one in all these rounds one vote, but that was a landslide. Of course. Nancy Thompson took that sixty one percent. This is where it got tricky. And this is what I was talking about with you put mega-powers together and crazy shit happens. Not even like just cream rises to top. Because here we go round three..

"There are many. But for me, it's either Michael Myers from the first Halloween. He you know after a you use the same Michael Myers. He's the one thing that doesn't change. But to me for my money. Jack Nicholson in the shining number one interesting. Here's johnny. Oh, it's a classic classic. We because he's normal in the beginning. Yep. And then he just learns evil divall, and he becomes a so for me. That's it. What's it for years? Johnny there. It is. I'm always the most scared by the nameless. Non speaking or villains? So that includes Michael Myers Jason voorhees from Friday the thirteenth and leather face from Texas chainsaw massacre. Did you ever see Texas chainsaw massacre? Yeah. Just because it's the random wordless. Yeah. Murdering that bothers me like FREDDY Krueger was kind of funny like he cracks jokes. Nobody leather face was not was not cracking jokes, nor was Michael Myers or Jason voorhees. So those are my three favorites. I would say Michael Myers is the quintessential. How many times when you watch the original Halloween d say, oh, jeez. Get out of the house you right? She would say, Jamie curse would save the kids. And then she just sit there relieved. I get the hell outta then kill the boogeyman just drop the knife ground. What is wrong with you? Greg bergman. What about I got? I like penny. Wise scares the hell out of any wise. Yeah. I just anything with kids. Go to see the it. No. I won't watch. It. I got five minutes into an and me and micro said, Nope. Nope. We're done. We're not watching this and the other one that I think someone actually sent this to me is Catherine keener and get out. Grace. She will. Get out is great the Syria the coffee thing. Yeah. If you haven't seen get out. It's not what you think I've seen it like three times now. Yeah. It is. So well done, and that's Jordan Peele, a comedian. Who do? Yeah. No. He's great. He's great. So there you have that has really good in that movie. Is Allison Williams. She is good. Yeah. I kind of out of nowhere. Yeah. No. It's a it's a great movie. It's really really smart and really really funny. Yeah. It's supposed for oh. What Michael Thompson guys overlook Blacula Blacula? What are we gonna find us on YouTube? Oh scary. Those blaxploitation films. Great like the blaxploitation films. Not everybody Cleopatra Jones, foxy Brown shaft to tell you what one of the coolest classiest women. I ever got a chance to interview glorious is a class. He is he's an icon. He's ready to deal with the Joan Crawford and everybody. And then I thought that Joan Crawford is nuts, by the way. Then I thought Jackie did you ever see Jackie Brown. Yeah. Of course, you know. I thought that was Quentin Tarantino's tribute to Pam Grier. Which was fantastic. Hey, mama. White mama move. We were talking baby. She's a gun right out of her friends. Xactly? Why not you got the fro hide it in their early where you're talking about that situation at the university of Maryland. Yes. All right. The governor of Maryland Larry HOGAN relation to Colonel. No, not to Colonel HOGAN. Hoke Hogen no one has ever to stay from stomach. He is statement saying they screwed it up, and they should fix it. He says while the university system is required by law to operate independent of political influence, I can and will demand that the university is held accountable for making the reforms. They have pledged to put in place with full transparency that the students parents and faculty expecting deserve. Maryland is let down the university has let down the Maryland community and the citizens of Maryland. And now is the time to fix it. So now, they're they're losing the PR battle now two, oh they politicians like they've lost. It falls the it's a state school. So it falls at the feet of the the governor of Maryland. So I would imagine. Now, they will be in full retreat and make the right decision. Yeah. I don't I let's just say if I was DJ, and I would rent and not by. Yeah. In college park. Yeah. That that is for sure. Hey, Michael who starts tonight. Same lineup. We saw in Minneapolis or stick with his landfall few games. See if see if it could turn things around. I liked Atlanta big long athletic still with us and Ingram the two, right? And then a frontline of Ingraham at the frontline of Kouzmin LeBron jail. Mccain to got gang rebound tonight..

"Well, you know, you get a couple of days off school, and you're get over get over it. And I don't and so I feel. Like, it's like, well, you're also seeing a woman that like was kind of maybe failed by the people around her and then had to kind of deal with it herself. Which is interesting about her too. Because she she really was trying to deal with the best. She could. And and I always like, I guess I don't love it. But you're rooting for Jamie Lee, you rooting for everyone around her to understand. Yeah. How menacing a force this this like amorphous entity that is Michael Myers is and sometimes it's frustrating and horror movies when you're like, I wish people would just listen to the main character. But in this case, I didn't I didn't feel that way. Because you understand why they wouldn't. Yeah. Absolutely. You're like this happened forty years ago. Jamie Lee like. Like. Yeah. I was a little upset with her family for giving her such a hard time. I don't know like she she had her best friends murdered in front of her and was chased after by this maniac and people like just get over it. Yeah. But it's like she also treated daughter like shit while she was raising a because she was so over the top about being worried about it. You know, so well, I'm sure she did. I mean, that's like abused through the generations, just like alcoholism or something. You're even your granddaughter going to have the effect. So I think that is the parallel they try to make they try to make it like she's an alcoholic which was. Yeah. Like is. She's now Galkin H two O, right? I should think. So. I think she just drinks to escape. I think she liked does escape every Halloween. She just could try not to think about it. We just watched it. And I already like. You don't need this took it out. Yeah. I mean, I guess it is a similar story. It's been twenty years since I've seen H two O, but I guess similar premise, right? Not really Laurie strode back. Yeah. Yeah. I mean. Yeah. H two, oh, she's changed identity to try and leave her past behind it started a new life for ourselves and seems to have mostly gotten over it with the exception of every Halloween. She gets really freaked out that Mike Myers is gonna come back. Jesse makes more sense because you don't know where he is. He's like kind of m I a for a really long time in h show. But in this one she knows where he is. He's locked away in a psychiatric facility that for the last forty years. He's been there which kind of gets me into someone like complaints about this movie. There's so many things that there's so many threads left unexplored, the it's just it's just hanging wires, this whole movie seemed like to me, I think making a movie because you can make money off of it is a perfectly reasonable justification for making movie. It's a business. It just seems strange that you would reboot this franchise now. Get Jamie Lee Curtis back through. Throw out all the old lore and also higher director who isn't known for these types of this type of genera, I guess he wrote it. So maybe he just was like, I really wanna financial win or whatever. But like get a director who's known for having some sort of interesting take on at least pot humor and heists and stuff like that. And then make one of the most generic slashers in the entire franchise. Like, it is just by the numbers. I think it's also there are threads that they throw in that they didn't fucking into like there are parts of the movie that are in that. I'm like, why are you even giving me this character? This had no pale whatsoever. If they have just kind of tidied it up a bunch. Been like rain it in focus on the things that you do have that good and stop with the stupid boyfriend subplot that I don't care about this. We had linguists subplot that I don't care about like just focus on the one God damn thing that you have which is Michael Mayes being Siri mostly and that so I feel like the boyfriend the granddaughter's boyfriend like there must have been something where they had a little bit of resolution to that. Like, he couldn't have just been the catalyst. I feel like they didn't early is interesting early on in the production..

"So, yeah, I thought, and again, I think it's the Michael Myers Halloween movies, I think is the best equal. I think that's fair. I'm trying to think. I know I hated five, but I'm trying to think what if I even enjoyed for at all. Warring. Yeah, dumb. And I, I kind of hope that they, this is it. There is some kind of honest, the fact that there were there were like good frights and they made him intimidating. Again with is a enormous feet. We are to me with his character. Yeah, seeing it too many times. There's nothing else to do. Yeah, you can't. You're done go. There's like think of something else. Yeah. We don't need another one now and I agree leave it alone. Now we have. We ended on. I know there's better than. Oh. The whole lot worse. Yeah. So. So Halloween, twenty teen, David, Gordon green good. It's I definitely recommend seeing in theaters, especially for that leisure out reaction. Oh, yeah. On some of those things. Definitely. So then Casey didn't get to go to the theater, have fun with Crowder acts and stuff. You know, it's in the trailer when it comes to the stall. Yeah, hand comes over and drops all the teeth. Yeah. In front of that in front of her, somebody's sitting near me. I hadn't seen that when that happened. I heard this girl go, fuck. That's, that's. That's. A good time. The trailers showed so much. I feel like a lot of that stuff I wished I hadn't watched the sure the closet, and I was just like, no, this is coming that trailer for the movie. But then when I saw the movie, I was like, oh yeah, although I really enjoyed that whole sequence. Yeah, it was fun. Yeah. Anyway, the kid was good in that sequence. Great. Yeah. And, yeah, anyway, I cast good particularly that babysitter in her boy. Yeah, they were really good. Totally. Yeah. Okay. Casey almost didn't see it, but got to see it. Yeah, crushed seventy seven million in the box office opening weekend highest opening in this in October history for right one. Two highest opening for blunt house, which blunt house motherfucker. They do it, forget it. Yeah, they do. Everything saw city is sold. Its like, does everything the fact that this is their highest opening the the other one that's amazing and puzzling. At the same time. It was written by Danny McBride and his his little crew. It's crazy, right? Kind of we've talked about this privately. I don't know if I've talked about on the show. My my dream was to do the Friday, the thirteenth for years, right castle actors in their thirties that are playing high schoolers and really take it back shitty three d. like that whole thing like, but he did it man guys, living his best life. He's living my. Dream life what he's doing. He can do drama, right? Because it's like he does drama for comedy for the effect. Right? So he makes things super dramatic for the comedic affect. Right. 'cause you're thinking like, how how can they do dropping many? So he's such a comedic actor. Right. So you're like, yeah, his boys, David, David, Gordon green. Those guys aren't. I mean like serious film students. So. It's possible. And if you're a gigantic fan of that, which she obviously was, I mean, look, you don't get seventy seven million. I saw Jamie Lee, Curtis posted a thing of like, you know, we're women and we're strong this other shit, and it was just like, come on. U. s. is asking because she put a lead woman, a lead woman over fifty and you're like, are you really the lead lead? She, the lead lean. She's the lead lead, but but it looks. She was in the original right forty years ago. Yeah. I don't think her necessarily that people like my running out yet. I'm going to see people get chopped up same j. center Freddie or anybody else. I don't give a fuck who's in those movies, right. See people get fucking kill him. That's what I'm there for. Yeah. So you can't take credit acting wise for any horror. Nobody's going to know you case in point Lynch shea who's obviously good friend we've done, I don't know four or five movies together at this point, shouldn't take credit for any of those cities at all. All all. She says nothing. But dude, this is Jason Blum. I'm lucky that he gave me a role in this and that's, that's it like, because that's what it is with a horror movie. Essentially, it's scary if it's cool. And again, Mike, Myers is Mike Myers. You're not. It's not like you're reinventing. We owe at that plant like, oh, Jamie, Lee, Curtis isn't it? Hey, there was. It was a little icing on the cake like, oh, sprinkle. She's from the original. They're doing it right. So that's, that's. That's what happened this weekend in the boxoffice japes, but I'm excited for Halloween. I love Halloween. Yeah, it's my fav-. What are we going asked? What are you going as you were supposed to get his costumes at WalMart, someone's Eason, then it all fell apart what happened? They weren't cool. What do you mean the work they were? They were. That was for something like funny, kind of like the Ted one thing. Cool. And weird and funny, and it was all unicorns and. You know, strange? Yeah, you can find a lot of cool shit on Amazon though. Have you checked out every perused it? It comes in these days. I mean, I got the kids some costumes on it and these days because it's the third party thing pill comb like shape, super weird and super Chinese. They're obviously coming from China. "Masked killer. Michael myers. Here's Stockton babysitters in a small Illinois town, the film was of course, Halloween, and I'm going to let my co host. Audie Cornish ticket from here. Hollowing was the film debut of Jamie Lee Curtis. She played the bookish babysitter. Laurie. Strode one of those final girl type characters who narrowly escapes a slaughter Curtis appeared in three more sequels and even died in one. So she thought she left that character behind. I had no intention of being in another Halloween movie yet that's exactly what she's done reprising her role as strode in the new Halloween. She told me that what convinced her to return was the approach taken by director, David Gordon, green and screenwriter Danny McBride. They chose to ignore the other seven sequels and focus on what's happened to Laurie strode since nineteen seventy eight in this movie, forty years later, we find really what happens when someone suffers a trauma when they're seventeen years old and doesn't. Get any help Laurie strode. She left school on the thirty first vox, Tober, a dreamer, and intellectual someone who would have gone onto Brown changed the world. And instead on November first she went back to school a freak. And that's what happens with trauma. It brands you people point and call my gosh, there's strode she's the one who survived and it took away her innocence. I think one of the characters in the movie, Dr character says something along the lines of their many ways tragedy and violence can change a victim. And it can make people maybe sad and insular. But in in this case, it makes her kind of a doomsday prepar? Right. I mean, she is now not living in fear, but lying in wait. Yeah. But that's all in response to only one idea that she has percents rated about for her entire life. Which is that he will come back for her. And she has lost everything. She ended up in a couple of relationships that were failed. She ended up having a child the state came and took the child from her because she was an unfit mother unfit because her only goal every day was to prepare her daughter for the fact that Michael Myers was coming back. I think I have in my notes, why won't her dumb family believe her? Like, that's it does excellent thing that happens in horror movies where you can be in the audience thinking, why aren't you listening, but her family is trying to tell her and not a subtle way to get over? It. All this hiding all.

"A little bit more on this trek from Honduras to Mexico. And then I'm going to grab some water callers here. The president is saying that well, well, let me just catch up a little bit here. The numbers up to about four thousand plus now heading this way. And the president is saying, and there's evidence to believe and even the ambassador from the United States to Mexico is hinting that somebody is paying or financing these migrants traveling to the US from under one of umbrella. Quote, we're starting to find out and I won't say one hundred percent, but I put a little tiny question Mark at the end. But a lot of money has been passing through people to come up and try to get past the border by election day. So a lot of us could be politically motivated politically paid for by who would have the the the gumption the gall the money to organize this and pull it off. George Soros easily. So the group is four thousand plus traveling now through one on its way to Mexico. And as you've heard yesterday, the president's of watermelon Andreas are trying to stop this a little bit because they've been told if they don't get a ran on this. There's no more foreign aid money. The president said even my my daughter who leans a little bit to the left this morning. She's been staying in my house a couple of days because she moved out of town the wench. Sorry, grace. I know you're listening. That's the way it should be. You know, if you've got individuals running our border from your country, you can't control that you don't get any more money from us. But the president saying that the caravan will be stopped before they reach the border will be stopped. And then we'll make the determination if indeed this is a political movement as opposed to roots. And if indeed somebody he's fronting this financially somehow some way and just right before the election, the timing of it, the Craig you're on Cam, Jay. Hi. Congratulations on your anniversary. Thank you, sir. Earlier you had a caller that you know, this this whole water system. We're talking about you know, and said what's in it for me? The answer is is really critical one and not. Whereas, you know, early on we knowledge that you know, we didn't want the overdraft down water supplies. And and so we have this Donald supply of water and see us truly why the system was developed whereas to offset and news this bountiful water supplies. You say that groundwater for times of shortages, and you know, with all of the environmental policy that's been developed. You know, that's been a wrote it over time. And so, you know, you think about creating sustainability cruelly so so what's in it for me for every gallon of water that close through that too. Now, it's one less down water. That's gonna ask down water with the you know, the requirements now for the sigma St. groundwater management act. You look at the costs associated with water from the water picks. And you know, we're we're still in a in a big out here. And and, you know, the the cost of water fixes, basically, you know, for the water six the twin tunnels probably gonna leave you agriculture's ability for that water. So a gallon down. I I like much of what you said the twin tunnels just to let me digress. A little bit. I think with what's happening today. And with the governor on his way out. I don't think they're going to happen. Even Gavin newness once on this Gavin Gavin Newsom once on this this very program was talking about how if he were elected governor, there'd be no twin tunnels, and there'd be no high speed rail that of course, has changed. But thanks, Craig. I mean, yeah, I get what you're saying that that one individual. There were saying, you know, what's in it for me that was a little bit bothersome because this gift of water is going to benefit all of us every single one of us. And that's the way we have to look at it. You know, we all benefit by food. We all benefit by, you know, more money flowing into the economy is a direct result that you know, theoretically would mean less taxes in every other state except this one. Of course, the the meeting in Arizona should be taking place right now. I've not heard anything to the contrary that it's not and the last we were told is it by one o'clock, it should be over quick meaning to fine. Tune the executive order on California water. And when I get the word, I can read the statement. From the collective congregation of western GOP representatives from the house, and then I will read this new stuff that was sent to me that gives all kinds of detail about exactly what this is all about. Specific things in there that will impact certain aspects of Ag. So this is a a very big day. I've known about this for a long time. You know, because I've, you know, I've hinted at it on the air, and I I've been bursting at the seams seems to say something, and you know, that I can't keep a secret for were the darn I'm terrible at it. I did real good on this one real good. But I so many times I wanted to tell you there's a particular billboard. I what you to Google this because you need a laugh. Philippine the name was who is a conservative street artists. Swapped a photo of the killer. Michael Myers and replaced it with congresswoman Maxine Waters. This is a giant billboard in West Hollywood on PICO boulevard. Now the the billboard is advertising. The new Allah Wayne movie, which is opening today. I think it's today if you've got a bit scarier for many people after the street artists swapped out the image of the serial killer. Mike Myers put this giant head of Maxine Waters on it. So it's this cut out on the billboard three-dimensional and above the top of the billboard. You see Maxine Waters head were Myers should be and right next to him coming off the billboard is the arm wielding a big giant knife. So the billboard on PICO apparently still remains intact. At least that was this morning. And so we see the congresswoman holding the sharp butcher knife in her right hand looking ready to plunge it into any unsuspecting victim. Also, the artist added near the top of the billboard. Hashtag uncivil Democrats. Great. Now, this artists tells the Hollywood reporter that the text he added to the advertisement is in reference to waters telling the crowd, you know, in June to make things very uncomfortable for President Trump and his cabinet members. We all remember that quote, if anybody sees anybody from cabinet in a restaurant in a department store and a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. That was her great advice. You push back on them. You tell them you're not welcome anymore, anywhere. Welby street artists abo- has responded in kind. You know? But since then to get very serious for a moment we talked about this yesterday. You've got several notable Republicans who've been confronted in public places. Ted cruz. Sarah Sanders, you know, about that. Political adviser to the president the senior adviser Stephen Miller homeland security secretary, Kristen Nielsen. All of these people have had their day ruined by individuals. Taking Maxine advice. Now to digress. And talk about the movie a little bit. I'm just loving it. I've been sort of a closeted fan of this whole series. Although some of these movies were sought -rageous bringing you Michael Myers back from fire and acid bath being dropped out of a plane being frozen in the Arctic and he's still lives. But this one looks like it may maybe the last one from the original one with the seventieth. Classic Jamie Lee Curtis was the first one she's in this one. And that tells me he's finally got he's finally going to die. Correal Jamie Lee Curtis who looks so much that movie like my first wife, Deborah gracious, Bob, like, for instance, when I saw the trailers, I would bow Deb would you start acting looks very very similar. So this movie, which is popping out this weekend is expected to do a huge amount of business probably setting a record for a movie during the the October the thirty first corridor because of the. You know, the correlation to Halloween and Halloween. The film. Has the original survivor? I think her name was Laurie. Laurie strode play by Jamie Lee, Curtis portraying to the role again, preparing to defend herself should Myers return after forty years of incarceration. But in the interim, we're entertained by this billboard on PICO in West Hollywood with Maxine head replacing Michael Myers. Ed. Google this because you've got to see it. It's it's really really funny. All right. Let me check the phone here. Make sure I haven't gotten. Hi, sign from anybody. No, not yet. Hoop. Wait a.

I'd noticed that for me that they did right is they did right by the man himself, Mikey, no, Mike Myers rate there because you know, they reveal more about Michael Myers, the who really is the main character, the killer, the one without him you wouldn't have series, so it's important to get him right. And I think that they did a great job with him because they reveal more about Michael Myers, but they still manage to keep him a mystery. They still manage to leave. You know, he's not in the business. Yeah. He's a business. I think it's good. Yeah. Kids like mandated for a couple of years. Now, a well and Kyle Richards and teddy Mellencamp stars of the real housewives of Everley hills were spotted boarding a Hawaiian airlines flight today no yesterday because today's Thursday with their husbands. So they're probably going to be joining the festivities, and this will be the maybe they'll be a little a little of the actual wedding. But maybe we'll get a little filming. Yeah. That'd be. In hawaii. Absolutely. You know, Kyle Richards was in Halloween original Halloween was here's one of the one of the kids that Laurie strode was babysitting. She may have been was one of the little kid and that movie, by the way, our four stars is supposed to be fantastic. It's co written by Danny McBride, the comedian who did eastbound and down. He also did vice principal so that's gonna be really fun to open this weekend or next week. I think it's this weekend. Hey, you give opens this weekend? But I was looking at the red. And I thought that's weird. They Kyle Richards is on the red carpet and then standing next to Michael Myers.

"That's the thing that makes them that still shows that he's vulnerable. Yeah, and I think that that's a one of the flaws of the film, really? Yeah, because really when you get down to it, I'm I'm talking Michael up. Man, I'm talking. I don't mind. I like Michael Myers, but it's not that Michael Myers is that hard to kill. Other people are just that dome. Well, to catch people by surprise. Nobody expects a seven foot tall man who who genuinely does wanna kill you? Yeah. Okay. I get it. So cut off guard. Now I get what you're saying, but as for the police people. What's it. Martin, here's the thing. Why say that him showing that he's human? Here's what is flow to me because. The thing about Michael is Michael is slow. That's that's man. That's one thing I thought, you know what? You need to pit him against Tom Cruise, because. Because I'm gonna do the main thing he can do is run, and that's the one thing Michael can't. Michael. Don't run. Michael, don't give Michael would take his time. I guarantee you if you just run run. That'll be the one time you hear Mike, Myers, fuck. It's. Is run and he's like, oh, well, no, Michael Martin look, I love it again. Yeah, you're right. I love he's methodical and right Martin in the right circumstances. You know, he'll he'll go shit out and be like. A dumb, but they're not attentive. They left the door open. They, they. They left weapons on the open for me. I was like, is this where nobody's locking? And he just stroll is drawn? Yeah. The man is taking his time in the movie. The movie conveniently makes people stupid clumsy. It's like Michael, Myers is a mascot for alarm systems really. Even even even a Lord stroz played by a Jamie Lee. Even she went up to a dollar. You won't even have like a bail on the doors. The thing with this is that Michael Mars is slow, but they make sure they found people that are that are dumb clumsy. People were slipping fall. People do that thing. I must investigate. You know when you know some dangerous it is that then he'd let people know that the killer is loose, hide, go inside. No, I must see what's happening. Yeah, people. Yeah, they're, they're, they're not attentive. They don't run because they don't have any natural sense of self protection. They're drunk drunk or their nosy. They're looking to investigate shit. They are. They got a whole fill behind them. They choose to run into the tightest corner. Mike Myers to half the time to slow because he's just kind of like I got. You believe it? I'm looking at really. I mean, I guess I gotta do the work of Darwin. You really not spun up whole big bag your to ruin. You're going to try to climb the gate that Joe sits snagged on like Dan. All right. You were favorite..
The New Halloween Movie Is Great. And You Don't Have To Watch the 10 Other Movies To Enjoy It.
"Michael Myers is back. David Gordon green is behind the wheel while the Halloween franchise has gone through many sequels and remakes. This one seems to be special due to its talented team behind the camera and an endorsement from John carpenter himself who owns an executive producer credit on the film to seal including seventy. Think of it, they say, skip it. Yeah. Yeah, but they haven't seen the other ones. So you know, I, I feel by his word. Jimmy Lee. Curtis also an executive producer credit in his back playing Laurie strode as she comes to her final confrontation yet. Right final come on. It's never the final with the aforementioned Myers, a masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night for decades ago. The film premiered at tiff last month to extremely positive reactions, and it's one of the most intimidated films of the year for a lot of people. I'm going to be going on Friday night. Actually. It's going to be spooky and hopefully a lot of fun. I just watched the original and now forget all the other sequels. This one is a direct sequel

"Independent in thoughts and punk rock in life. It's the Chad Benson show. Testimony that. The motivation. Of the courageous woman who sat where you did just short time ago was revenge on behalf of a left wing conspiracy or the Clinton, sir. I said in my opening statement that she preferred confidentiality your confidentiality was was destroyed by the accidents of this committee. He's right. He's right in this historic thing. That went on today. Partisanship was everywhere. And while I ride the Republicans for being a pain in the ass and play the game politically as much as anybody else. He was on full display. By the Democrats today. And I don't have a problem with some of them. I don't. I don't but the way they acted today. Yeah. These this group here. This. This was that. And when you listen to Blumenthal there understand what's taking place because they realized that they have to paint a picture. To america. Right. So how do you paint the picture to America? Well, I. She's the underdog genuinely we we all like the underdog, right, right? Like a team that comes out of nowhere that nobody thought was going to do anything. And everybody's it's the little team that could. And and and and everybody's on the egregious go, go go, and it's great. We hear the stories and the whole nine yards, and it's great and they're going up against the dynasty. And we're like, oh, this could be great. And that's what makes sports amazing this any other. So what do you do you have an underdog? She's an underdog, right? She's a professor at a small college. Who had something horrific happened to her and you paint her to be the underdog. And then you need the dynasty you need the you're Gandhi's, right? Oh, the New England Patriots. Ooh. You need that. Or? And that's that's what happened. Right. Any horror movie, I'm going to go see a horror movie later, I can already tell you. What's going to happen in the horror movie, right? Because first of all, I just. I need this has been the horror show all day. I need something a little levity, but I can tell you what's going to happen. The girls going to win. In the end, the monster. The Jason the Michael Myers. The Freddie Krueger the whoever who's the bad guy, who's the monster. Who's the killer? Who is the boogeyman who is spread Cavanaugh? He is all of those things. You you. Paint her to be the this innocent human being that is a patriot all of these things, and that he is a deviant sick twisted monster that is that is Michael Myers cities. The thing of nightmares that comes to you in the middle of the night. Freddie, Krueger style that has the hockey mask on. This is what they paint him to be because in politics. You need the other side to fail watch any political ad. That's out right now, we're few what we're less a little bit over a month plus away from from this big election time, and what did we have? How many of them say let me tell you what I'm gonna do for you. Let me tell you. How many go fight for you? Let me it's all hey, that person's bad that person's evil that person's the worst that person's gonna destroy your life. That person's all of never anything about how great they are amazing. What they're gonna do why they're different. And if it is it's two seconds at the end. And then it says this was paid for by a bunch of other people want me to go in there. So that I can do their bidding for. It's about making a villain a good bad. I don't think either of these people are I think Christine blazey Ford was was was brave today. I think she went out there. And I think if she helped people want to come forward, I think that's an amazing thing. Do I think that he is guilty. I think something happened to her. Now was it him. If you watch him. It's tough to say 'cause he seemed pretty convincing as well. I'm not saying something didn't happen to her. Because I do think something happened to her. Even he echoed those statements today, even he echoed those statements. I'm not questioning the doctor Ford may have been sexually assaulted by some person in some place at some time. But I have never done this. To her were to anyone. He's the boogeyman. And that's what they do. They make him the boogeyman because it is the thing you do. And she's the underdog she is the frightened teenager in a horror movie that is running from the hockey mask killer or trying to escape out of a dream from FREDDY Krueger with the knives in his hand. Or Laurie strode Michael Myers. Little sister trying to get away from him. He's the boogeyman and they've made him out to be that way. Or any of these allegations true? I don't know. You've decided that on your own. Maybe you think they are. Maybe you think they're not judging by him today based on the things I've seen I tend to think he's telling the truth. I also think she's telling the truth. Well, how can they both be telling truth just because it wasn't him that maybe did this to her doesn't mean something didn't happen to her? That's the reality of it. But this is not about truth or lies or guilt or innocent. It's about one thing stopping the boogeyman. From winning. Stop the boogeyman for winning. That's what they have to do. How do we stop the boogeyman from winning? Would you everything we can and in the end as most horror movies? What is it? It's the teenage girl who's trying to escape. Who somehow? Is able to be that underdog. Character that finds the strength. The does what it has to do. But you can't have one without the other. The Democrats have said from jump fifteen minutes after the he was nominated. They already said they weren't going to vote for. Fifteen minutes afterwards. Fifteen minutes. Yeah. Fifteen think about that. For a second. Fifteen minutes afterwards Bernie Sanders. The.
