Filmmaker Ami Horowitz on the Inspiration for His Series

"Can we are back with army Horowitz, see the whole video of him in Berkeley with American students giving a man they think is funding the Taliban money for the next 9 11 army. We don't rehearse any of this. I don't tell you what I'm going to ask you. This is the question. I don't think I've ever asked you. And I think it's the most important one. Nobody is doing what you're doing. I mean, you know, Jesse ward is what his world is fun. It's amusing, but your videos are shocking. Why are you doing what you're doing? What's the genesis of it or we share that story? Yeah, sure. You know, so my background was as an investment banker. That's what I did for most of my career. And one day the Saturday night and I was watching the Michael Moore film going for Columbine. And I started drifting off thinking about the United Nations and how horrific they are and damaging they are. And why isn't anybody up in arms about it? And I looked over at the screen at the Michael Moore documentary. I thought, what did engaging interesting. Way to convey an idea, this idea of a smart, dark documentary. Now, he may be totally wrong, he's a big fat pig. But hey, you know what? Still, it's a really interesting way of conveying a perspective. So I thought, you know what? I'm going to do that. I literally quit my job. I was sorry, I quit my job on Monday. Start raising money, made a movie called you and me, which was thank God successful enough where a kind of open live doors for me. I decided I didn't want to do any more. I didn't want to spend another 7 years on one topic and spend millions of dollars on it. So I said, you know, this social media was really taken off that point. And you can kind of create your own platform. And that's what I did. I just started doing these one off videos. And they just kind of became super successful and they kind of blew up to the point where now we're across all platforms are probably four and a half million views per video. As soon as the show, right? Then you're going to have your own show called triggered. Yeah, yeah. We are in the process of that as well. Really excited about them. I'm sure. I'm sure this will be one of the first places I'll come to you talk about it once we're

"In private believed a the weapons of mass destruction lies told by the bush administration and so my thought was for a time in perpetuity with one hundred million viewers watching to just to ask the audience. I sam grateful. Thank you for the for the acknowledgement of your wonderful film on columbine and then say just just time because it could we have everyone in the audience would doesn't stand behind this war. Stand up and then we would have had photographs of just how liberal hollywood is when they get scared. And i remember this. I remember thinking when you said that i want. Oh no. this'll be the end of me but it was a great idea so as people have seen a remember if they do if they're old enough to remember they announced the bowling for columbine. Was the winner went up on the stage. I had asked the other documentary filmmakers. Who were nominated. Please join me if they'd like to on the stage. Because i was going to say something and they all came up with me all the other nominees. I don't think that had ever happened before. at the oscars. And then i just i just said you know we make nonfiction films. But we live in these fictitious times with fictitious president. And as soon as i went there boy the booze started and thought. I should have stuck with shawn's idea. Just just let them let them stand. They'd have to boo each other for just sitting in their seats that way but now so they started. The booze just got louder. There was a lot of applause in that. I've i've watched the tape since. Then you know scorsese applauded and meryl streep and other was nice support but up in the balconies. Were all the tickets. Go to the sponsors of the oscar ceremony. The that that whole thing up there with was was pandemonium and then they lowered the microphone. They start up the band and that was the end of me. And and sean. I went back afterwards. We went to the governor's ball afterwards. I was shunned by everybody and an hour later back at the hotel room. I call i got was from you is you had you were. I think on your bike on your motorcycle heading back to the bay area yet. My son and i run a motorcycle trip. Okay there we go and you said to me. Is there anything i can do for you. I mean we'll turn these bikes around right now and come back if you need help or support and it was the kindest hall that could come in. I was obviously his. You know his pretty rattled and that night on all the la tv stations. People out east. Don't know this but because the astros are are over a west by you know eight o'clock their time so they have all these like post super bowl shows like post. Oscar shows every channel. And i just kept flipping. The dial in every commentator critic was saying well. that's the end of michael moore. I don't know why. Why did he do that. Why did he do that. It's the fifth night of a war against a badge of honor to win when you do work. It's as deserving of it is columbine and it's an equal badge of honor. It'd be booed there. I you know when you're making many people happier you're doing something wrong. Well thank you said that to me that night and you just said it again. I i so appreciate it. Took me quite a while though after that because few days later the Studio that was going to do. My next film ripped up the contract even at all signed and they even sent the first check and they said we don't have anything to do with him or this next film that was called was going to be called fahrenheit nine eleven so we instantly were all out of work..

"At once covert climate and the coup we are in a disastrous ecological pandemic. That may also be the cause of the corona virus pandemic. Mother nature has decided the only way to protect her. Earth is to attack those trying to kill it us by fire flood virus. Dead oceans drought bats biomass starvation. She she just throwing everything at us to see what sticks. And i'm guessing she's thinking two or three more pandemics should do the trick. With these mutant apes the final pandemic thrust upon us has been the impending death of our democracy a plague of millions of people who know that their race is being depopulated and are hell bent on destroying what's left of our system of elections governance and our hopes of equity and fairness and freedom. They are the super spreaders of hate and ignorance and are only comfort. Right now is that there are about ten million more of us than there are them and thanks to their believing that kovic is a hoax and bleach is a medicine. We are now going to ironically outlive them. Because we lined up and got the shots that trump himself ordered for us. So maybe there's hope here's how my new letter to you will work. I've teamed up with an amazing free service for writers and artists called sub stack. Some stack is a publishing platform. That i and many other writers believed to be a better and easier way to send you our latest writings. Rants podcasts videos ideas recipes. All of it by way of a simple elegant email that's informative subversive and entertaining a place where we can write you. A poem sinuous song. Help open the only abortion clinic. In your state this -combobulate the domestic insurgents eliminate the filibuster and the senate barbershop and show you our plan on how to get ninety three percent of the world vaccinated each week. I'll share my new writings. Random fought or to my weekly podcast which will be embedded right here in this email just clicked play boom. There's podcast my weekly letter will also contain some bit zimbabwe's or or maybe something. I've run across from far corner of the world that i know you're going to like all of this will come to you in one breezy email. A simple easy to use and share letter from mike from me to you just like that and you can share your thoughts back with me. Here's how to think of this. Think of it as a million of us coming together and acting as one finding ways to embrace each other to embrace in protect our democracy and to embrace this fragile world which we inhabit. I have been a witness to forty. Plus years of those in power seeking the dumbest down demoralizes crush our spirits and keep us in a place with little or no political or economic power. If we want to speak up to write broadcast ourselves to have our voices heard. Where do we go. Ask anderson cooper to have on his show tonight instead of a hedge fund closing local paper. How about just giving it to us. And then there's social media and let's be honest. They're all massive corporations complete with their own often. Insidious motivations to drive eyeballs. That's what they call it to drive eyeballs to get clicks no matter what. The cost is to our social fabric. That's what passes now as freedom of speech my dear friends. I am longing for place to have intelligent. Civil exchange of new im- brave in beautifully radical ideas a platform where. I can right what. I want to say to have a thoughtful conversation with you to truly connect without the trolls and the bigots stinking up the place. I want to act with you all of us now in ways that will actually affect change. Because you and i both know that our time is running out. I've been shaken by wass the sheer subsumed by the injustice of it all and consumed in a quiet rage and buy some strange accident of will. I began recording a podcast in my tiny guest bedroom. Exactly two weeks before the first cova death after that i didn't stop i've done two hundred five episodes of my rumble podcast. And thanks to many of you. Thirty million of those episodes have been downloaded. I honestly don't know where i'd be. If i hadn't had the chance to talk with all of you through my road mt. Usb microphone here two to four times a week during this last year and a half and well hey we got rid of the former guy. Right right i know i know. Nearly half of this country sick mad unvaccinated and they ate it all up and they might again remember. we are the majority. Now in eighty million of those millennials have saved us saved us for now. So this is my plea my promise to you. We have a choice. We are all in earth's icu. Together right now and yes. We can't beat back the monster but it won't be easy and it won't work unless we all lock arms and fight the greatest non-violent fight of our lives if you're listening to me right now because you've received this email letter For me that means that somewhere through the years you've already subscribed to and are currently on my email list. People listening to this podcast. We've gone on to create their own. Podcast i'm so happy here this now more than ever our voices need to be heard in now my letter to all of you so our empire has once again lost another war. The last war we one was seventy six years ago this past sunday at some point. Don't we get relegated. Out of the premier league. Don't we eventually get sold off to yahoo. In two thousand one in the days after nine eleven mine was a lonely voice insisting that we not invade afghanistan on september fifteenth. Two thousand one. I sent a personal letter to my email list. Saying this i feel. I have a responsibility as an american to speak out and say what needs to be said that we the united states of america are culpable in committing many acts of terror and bloodshed and we had better get a clue about the culture of violence in which we have been active participants. I know it's a hard thing to hear right now. But if i and others don't say it. I fear we will soon be in a war. That will do nothing to protect us almost twenty years ago in a subsequent letter. I asked the nearly one million people on my list to join the trying to stop this war. Many of you are on that list. You inundate congress with calls and letters and although we couldn't stop that war nor the one in iraq. We did continue to organize to march to vote into raise a generation who grew up to be overwhelmingly for peace and who detested war. In fact since nine eleven nearly eighty million young people have become a voting age. I continued sending you those letters sometimes upwards of twenty thousand of you would write me back. These were the days though before social media but soon we would all switch to likes in tweets in letters in emails began to fade. I miss that immensely. The more personal and intimate discourse that we could have and it wasn't long before many others missed it to facebook had made a stupid twitter made us angry. Instagram just made us hungry for well. The food emails. You know the thoughtful letter to long lost friend or the angry missive to a member of congress did eventually make a glorious comeback so i want to reconnect with all of you in this manner by sending you my weekly letter with a bunch of new thinking and fresh ideas in how we can turn things around. We are in the midst of trying to survive three massive pandemics all.

"Slash rumble. I'm going. I have a couple of theaters. Michigan movie theaters nonprofit movie theaters. And i'm gonna oatmeal themselves. And i've told people in town that you have to be vaccinated in order to come in to this movie house. A movie house has no windows. There's no such thing as i mean. I i'm installing right now. It's costing money A new filtering. Not just a narrowly. I should call filtering system. It's a fresh air system. I'm i'm bringing in fresh air constantly now In taking it right back out and it has to go through the super super heater or in the summer super cooler so my utility bills are gonna go way up But nonetheless i'm doing everything i can do to have fresh air in that but i don't want people in there. I want people coming to the theater. Knowing the other people are sitting there with in the theater are vaccinated I haven't gotten any any pushback yet. I kind of expected it but it hasn't happened but Do you think i'm wrong requiring at least for now People have to show their vaccination card. I you know. I think this is going to be really important And i it's interesting. I've been having a lot of conversations with businesses especially the general counsel of businesses. Who want to have my vaccine mandates. What's holding them. Back is the fact that they've not been formally Approve they're still released under emergency use and they see that as a problem. I i don't really see the problem but they. They seem to see it as a problem. So that seems to be. What's holding the back. And i i don't you know the. Fda is now talking by january. before it's fully approved. I i would have thought that could move faster on this. Since they knew it was coming. So i don't know exactly what the issue my wrong here require. That people vaccinated come into my theater. Because you know what the hamburger joint down the street. He has a sign that says no shirt. No shoes no service and nobody complains about their constitutional rights to eat dinner in front of other people with your shirt off and the bookstore. You mentioned a bookstore. The bookstore down. The street doesn't allow cigarette. Smoking isn't that strange. Don't we have a constitutional right to smoke a cigarette in a bookstore. No yeah you have no arguments no argument from me it is just. It's interesting well. I think a lot of the big corporations are the ones who are skittish. Because why they don't want to upset the ignorant. Well i think it's i will also i. I think you know what i'm hearing from. A few of the big organizations is they have a lot of unfilled positions right now as is and so if they have to lay off a substantial segment of the workforce. You know whether it's five percent or ten percent there are a little worried about how they actually run the business. That which is kind of interesting. So i didn't realize that there are so many open jobs right now so that i don't know what's going on there. Well you while there are a lot. There are a lot of people who work in hospitals that are not vaccinated. It's just there's there apparently practicalities that are making businesses skittish about doing it. Maybe it's because we're nonprofit. We're not in the business of making money. But look if i'm going into you know my special needs daughters likes to go to movie theaters. And we're telling her no because there's too much cove it so but we're saying still a lot of cova transmissions but if we knew that theatre where everybody was vaccinated yet we feel a lot better about the michael moore could guarantee you because i have made sure that We've checked their cards..

Michael moore welcome everyone. A new report by the world. Health organization has confirmed what we should already know. Maybe some of you've seen this coming. But cova cases once again are on the rise. And i mean a sharp rise in the last couple of weeks we are still in the middle of this pandemic and we have a long ways to go to get out of it. Those of you who been following me and found listening to this podcast for the last year or so when we began just before kobe hit and in the days and weeks after cohen. I started talking about this. And even before the lockdown in we had different scientists doctors etc. I talked to them. A couple of them came on this. Podcast i remembered. Dr zeke manual. Who was top doctor at one point at the and h saying that this is actually going to be a three to four pandemic and i was like what and he said no. This is going to be a three to four pandemic. this is a virus. We haven't seen and we've seen things similar. Maybe but not this. And i remember thinking at the time while. I'm glad he said it. Because i hadn't heard anybody say that but i thought man he's gonna be in trouble nonetheless talking here last night To some family about you realize that as crazy as that might have sounded the year and four months ago five months ago that we are only five months away. The first cova case was that was known that we knew about in december of nineteen. We're only five months away from that. Let me put it this way. We're five months away from entering year. Three of the pandemic and mike waited can be that as long as well. Just do the math right. The summer of nineteen december twenty. There's your one december twenty two december of twenty one which is coming up. That's the end of year two and that means year three starts. I have been saying on this podcast for some time that more. We stick our heads in the sand on this because we just want to hear good news we want to get the kids back to school. All these things which too sick and tired of wearing masks all this stuff Is going to be our undoing because we're uncomfortable we're unhappy and therefore i want to be happy and i want to be at the ballpark and i want to be at the beach and i wanna i wanna be out with human beings. That's all very understandable. And i feel the same way that all of you feel. And yet if we're still in the middle of this we hear about these new variants we say to our selves. Oh pets in india. we're safe. we're ok here. 'cause we got vaccines and we've been doing the right thing and all this or that's in brazil but this started because that's in well that's in wuhan fairly well read. Rapper Lil Wayne meets Trump and praises his "Platinum Plan"

"Critical endorsements from Brett Farve. And are you ready for this one? Lil Wayne. Whiskey. This is more important than you think, because we've been having some fun with the fact that Donald Trump is apparently getting the endorsement of every single rapper alive. Kanye West 50 Cent too, is then shamed into rescinding Hiss. Endorsement by his ex girlfriend. Dude, he had dumped Chelsea handler. She no longer has the power to nag You. 50, of course, came out and said, I don't want to be 20 Cent under Joe Biden's tax plan, But then he got a lot of backlash. No screw Donald Trump. I don't really like Donald Trump. Little way now is coming out this after little pump. So we got little pump and Lil Wayne Lil Wayne is for those who don't follow hip hop music. He is one of the biggest Rap star is alive. He is a Packer fan. That's right. He did the remix to Wiz Khalifa's black and yellow called green and yellow. The year the Packers won the Super Bowl so What this is doing. Is telling particularly younger black voters that its okay I always after Kanye first came out as a Republican, the rapper Chance the rapper who I believe is AH, liberal Democrat but a very religious guy actually tweeted out black people don't have to be Democrats. He's best buddies with Kanye West and was sickened by all the people were just blasting Kanye's a race traitor and all of this nonsense. What this is doing is telling younger black voters. It's okay in my personal life. I've actually had two different people Come to me privately and say you don't Dan. I can't say this publicly, but I'm voting Republican. I'm voting for Donald Trump. He believes all the things I believe I can't say this because it would bring Ah, Whole lot of condemnation. And people would just call me names and all this sort of stuff, but But I am doing this anecdotal in the extremes just to people I know from two different walks of life. But It's indicative ofthe what I think is the germination of maybe a broader cultural shift that you've got generations of black voters who have grown up in Democrat controlled neighborhoods. And who have seen that Democrats don't do anything for black voters. Except ask for their votes every four years. You know who else is sounding the alarm about Michigan? None other Then Flint native Michael Moore. Anti trump filmmaker, Hard core leftist, but someone who is in touch with the white working class traditional union vote. A Visit with the Main Street Vegan, Victoria Moran

"I. WanNa start off by asking you. So your brand is main street Vegan. Why mainstream? Vegan? Well it's a story actually rip I went to a pita fundraiser late in two thousand ten and they showed videos and I've been seeing videos like this for forty years. It took me quite a while to get from. Vegetarian Vegan back in the day. So I've been around this movement for ever. And I've seen those videos about things that humans do to animals but that night, my heart was extra. And all I wanted to do was write a check for one hundred, thousand dollars in hand it to the pita founder Ingrid newkirk and say here, go fix something but the check would have bounced. So I got on the train thinking okay. What's the plan B. and I literally had inspiration I don't know how to explain this. You know you could say God you could say angels on what all I know is that it came to me very clearly okay you don't have one hundred, thousand K. spare but what you can do is make your. Next Book Main Street Vegan, we want it to be geared to the young woman that you were in Wheaton Illinois in nineteen eighty three when you finally stopped messing around and became a one hundred percent fulltime Vegan it needs to have forty short chapters with a recipe at the end of each one and I'm just kind of taking notes in my head of I could do this, I can do this. So my wonderful literary agent sold the proposal to torture Penguin and the editor called to say so happy to have you happy to have the book. But. We hate main street. You need to change the title and they'd bought it. So I had to do something and I'm coming up with these other titles and they were so boring. But I kept trying to write and then I had a begin miracle and I really do believe that this is the age of those believed that this is the time when all these other ridiculous diets are going to go. The way of the dinosaur plant based is going to be the only thing that sensible people are interested in and the idea that we are killing our fellow beings and destroying the planet is going to start to look like are you serious people really did that? So my Vegan Miracle That day. Was Walking up Broadway. We saw somebody so famous, you can recognize him from the back and that was Michael Moore Now, he had liked another book that I had written a weight loss book fit from within, and so I just handed my card to the woman who was with him and a few seconds. Later I hear Victoria there is Michael Moore, following me up Broadway and we started talking and then we started talking on the phone and on one of these phone conversations I said the book that I'm supposed to write should be called mainstreet Vegan publisher hates main street he said they're wrong. Let me talk to him talk to them so. In a three way call with an Academy Award winner my editor in me he convinced her she convinced the higher ups and when she called to say Main Street Vegan is your title everything else started to pop and I've been given my mission for the rest of my life. So why main street because this thing that we do whether we're coming from the health or the environment or the animals or whatever this is for everybody this is not some elitist thing. We don't have to be rich. We don't have to be leftover hippies or punk rockers. We can just be who we are eat reasonably and love more and to me that's Main Street That is mainstream nuts. you landed on something that just resonated and you knew of his right thing. And I grew up two blocks off main street in Kansas City Missouri. So that may have had something to do with it and mainstream Vegan was at your eighth or Ninth Book Because you've written. Now Than Books Right I've written thirteen. So Main Street Vegan would've been eleven. And

No not with a gun but with your brain and your guts and your ability to organize others. What is your idea of what we should be doing right now. What is your idea? I want you to tell me I'm serious. I really want to hear from you. I mean I've been I've been spouting out this and that over the last month I've been trying to warn everybody I've been. I've been sharing the things that I've learned from my sources. Now I need to hear from you please. I'm serious. Please tell me tell us tell. The people are listening to this. Podcast I want you to post here. Posted on the on the on the comments section of the podcast page you. Can you can post it on. My facebook address is M. M. Flint. Especially if you go to the if you go to anchor you can. You can leave a voicemail message to me and I'll I'll play some of them especially if you've got a great idea as to what we should be doing. I'll share it with the people listening to this right now it. There's no time left. We're out of time we. We don't have weeks to figure this out. We barely have days for those of you. Don't live in New York your curve. The peak isn't going to happen for a few weeks so there's some time there's really no time left right now except the governor. Today yesterday did order the National Guard to go and and take any medical equipment that they can find anybody who might be hoarding it. Any of the protective gear that the doctors and nurses need to wear the National Guard. Now has the authority to to apprehend those who have it and take it from them. I'll tell you what we really need the governor to do. We need the governor to send the National Guard down to wherever the federal stockpile storage facility or facilities are and they need to charge those facilities surround them and demand that the equipment be given to the New York National Guard to the New Jersey National Guard. So that can be brought up here in the next forty eight hours. What a sad state of affairs that I would even have to suggest that such a thing but if it was your loved one there was Unin ventilator. Now what would you do? What would you be willing to do to save the life of your loved one? What would you be willing to do to save the life of your neighbor? They don't have to be a loved one. Aaron neighbor though just the fact that they are citizen of this country and they deserve they deserve to live and they should never have to die because the president decided to not send in the equipment that was needed to save them that their lives. Were expendable for some reason. Semir ideas and then let's organize immediately. Let's lead and let's act act like our lives depended on it because they do you know it. I know it and the time has come for us to take a stand and that's a very difficult thing to do when we have to have this distance from each other so that means we've got to get smart. How do we fight this? How do we fight this man in the White House when just the very act of doing together doing it close together could result in the sickness or death of the very people that were in solidarity with to beat back the salt on us to figure that out is going to take some genius thinking? I'm counting on the fact that there are a few of you. Listening to this emergency podcast. Who are going to send us either. Your Voice Mail or your message if you don't want your name abuse say so it's fine but if you've got if you've got the one big idea that's GonNa turn this thing around then we need to hear from you and we need to hear from you right now a few hours ago if you lived in New York City and you had a cell phone iphone or an android. It started blaring. You know that whoring that goes off when they have like an amber alert a missing child or there's a tornado warning. A Tornado is on the way it went off. It startled me talk other people. It startled everybody on a Friday afternoon. Emergency alert it said it was a call out if there are any doctors or nurses or health care professionals out there who are free. Please call this number right now. We are out of staff in the New York hospitals. It took my breath away to read. This what can I do to help us my first aid skills from boy scouts? Guess I'm doing what I can do right now by talking to you and by encouraging you not to give up none of us can give up now. All of us have to rise above this all of us have to push through our fears and our the way that we've been T- totally discombobulated by this. We're smarter than him. And we have more strength and resolve and we love this country and we love this planet. We live on. We love the people that we share this planet where that's who we are and we come from people who have faced enormous odds just getting to this country and then one's here trying to just live trying to just survive. It's never been an easy path not for grandparents not our great grandparents not for those who crawl through the desert to get here. This is our time. This is our moment we can do. This please participate in this call in this. Call from me to you as to how we're going to be back. The virus not just the virus that goes into our lungs but the other virus the one that sits in the White House and the virus of how we have structured this society to put profit above everything else and to think that that would cost us the lives of doctors and nurses and those who want to help us live is the cruelest thing. The cruel story I could share with you and it brings great pain to me to have to do that. But I'm telling. Ya Not as great as the pain. I intend to cause to those who've made this happen..

"And I think deep down we all know this over while I was explaining this history of ours on Msnbc the other night to Ala val she. You know we were talking about the the Senate trout coming up this week and I was repeating my call for witnesses that we need witnesses. We need John Bolton testifying. He needs to be asked. What else is on that server where they were hiding the call now from the Ukrainian president? That isn't the only thing in three years of trump's presidency. You think that's the only thing. They felt that they've had better hide that some action of his something he said or did that server is loaded loaded with a man's told fifteen thousand lives and three years. That server is loaded with misdeeds wrongdoings. I would bet any amount of money on this my friends. That's why Bolton has to testify this this week. That's why he has to be asked that question. That's why it has to be that service to be subpoenaed and we're not gonNA take our time in the courts. There's already a judge there at the trial. He's he's the chief justice of the US Supreme Court. He's the judge of trump's trial in the Senate Chief Justice John Roberts and he's going to have to say yes. You have to turn this server over. Its evidence there is a trial. This isn't a kangaroo court this is going to be a sham. Trial that with me sitting here. I'm Chief Justice John Roberts. Oh you know. They don't want this to happen. They don't want Roberts have any power. He has not been loyal. Dear Leader John Roberts. A Conservative was the deciding. Vote that saved obamacare. He not only not only voted with the liberals on the court he wrote the majority opinion. He was the deciding. Vote that that struck down. Louisiana's restrictive anti woman abortion law. He sided with the liberals on that he sided with liberals on the death penalty case He. He doesn't always he's play ball and they know it and they've got to be scared about this. That's why this trial this week is so important in. Ll she said to me they're MSNBC. What he wha what he thinks on that survey so I don't know I mean I I don't know I mean you can kind of guests in just knowing trump? He came into office thinking that he actually won the popular vote to that. Hillary those three million votes were rigged so he probably used whatever powers he had to try to prove that he he won. Not just the electoral college but the popular vote wrote so that that was probably hidden on their He came into office. Still believing that that Obama was a Muslim Obama was born in Kenya. What what powers of the presidency he use to try and dig up more dirt on Obama? I'd love to know I'll Betcha that's on the server. What about the The Washington Washington Post journalist? The Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi executed inside the Saudi embassy in Turkey did trump no about that in advance. It was a disgust. Did he help with cover up his good friends. The Saudis is that on the server. Who knows we won't know unless we have a real trial with witnesses and evidence when you have a trial in a democracy you have evidence in you have witnesses no evidence no witnesses not a trial? It's a it's it's a complete. Sham should be called up for what it is. Nancy Pelosi has been. She's done the right thing in refusing to send these articles of impeachment over until she sure there's it's going to be a real American trial not a trial in the in the dictatorships that had been supported by trump and the Republicans all these years so l. e.. Val she says to me when I bring that up about Obama in the Muslim from Kenya goes we actually Michael. You know another Muslim. I'm from Kenya boss for secondly and then went. Oh 'cause he told me this privately before but I don't think he'd ever set an on here he he said I am that person. I am a Muslim born in Kenya and he told me later that his his parents are they were in. Indians wins from India. Who lived in South Africa's there's a large Indian community there it's where Gandhi began his political activities and They had to flee South Africa because they were anti-apartheid. Activists ended up in Kenya. And that's where he was born then. They came to Canada and that's where he was raised in now. He holds dual citizenship Canadian in American citizenship. And I I said to him well I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you may refer everybody that made it here. Thank you thank. Thank you for being here I said to him and And thank you for sneaking Obama into the country with you when you came from Kenya. But you know I thought that was was kind of a brave thing for him to say. He's an anchor on a major network. I'm on a Muslim from Kenya. Says we went to commercial with my time was up there and I just want to the sharing incoming golden give them a hug. And I'll probably violating some kind of cable news' roles but I was like kind of appeals. Okay having said that certainly looked like he felt okay. It's an important thing to say because that's where we are all where the mixed stew of everything we're not a melting pot votes. I'm sorry that was a bad idea. We don't want to melt. We want to retain we are. But we're all Americans were just a big stew. Do of all kinds of people from all parts of the of the world who made it here by Hooker Creek with the exception of our descendants of African slaves who were brought here on ships listen chains in our native people who were here first and I was our first mortal sin genocide of them and we built this country in the back slaves and it was the second mortal sin. But I know it's no longer Sunday. Now we're into Monday. So I'll I'll dispensing with the sermon. Erin I just WanNa say that I'm so sorry Danny suffering that we've caused around the world. I'm really proud of the good things that we've done that we've done the progress that we've made here at all. We're not there yet. I know the good that we've done around the world I've seen it but that seems like such a time gone by at this point because the list of things that we've done is is. I know I know find a movie. Find a happier movie to go to next week and Mike. Let's get the temperature back down into the twenties and let's let's have a trial this week. Let's have a trial that tells the truth that reveals the other things. He's done that all. We need our twenty Republicans twenty of the fifty three a minority of them. Just just twenty of the fifty three to say. Okay that's enough as disgusting. I will not. I will not enable or abide led by this man any longer. This is my plea to twenty of you twenty of you in the Senate. This is the moment to stop. Stop the madness. What he did in Iran? We don't know what else he's planning to do to try to get on his himself reelected Bafokeng. This is not going to be a good year. If we don't stop him. Now what will it take. Is it possible. Is there anything we can do. If we fail in the Senate to somehow force his resignation. I know that just sounds like are you kidding me this guy. Now we're the side that resigns where the side that quits for the side that hangs are had where the side that says. Well maybe we should vote for the people that voted for the Iraq war. He meant well now as our time to take a real stand hand to really turn this country in the right direction. The people are ready. The majority of Americans are with a son. This don't be afraid. The other side side isn't afraid they should be afraid. There's a hell of a lot more of us than there are them but were afraid for some reason. Don't be afraid great. Come on. I'm here I'm with you. It's not just me either. There's a whole bunch of us we can do this. This is going. That'd be an interesting week and God. I pray that it gets cold outside because the last thing I want to see as the Sun rising at two in the morning thanks everybody for for listening to episode eighteen of Rumble with Michael Moore. "This is rumble humble with Michael Moore and Michael Moore. Well it's been a great summer weekend here on the East Coast to the United States even though it is the middle of January man. It's been great almost seventy degrees both days in New York seventy in Boston in the seventies in Washington. DC people walking around on the street in their T. shirts no sweaters. No jackets no coats and scarves airfield. So you know that spring smells. That's what it was like this weekend. I got there was a guy actually walking down the street with his shirt off. You know the weather's good when you see that and endon parents sitting here in my little podcast studio in my apartment with the window open because it's just so nice outside. I got a lot of Spring cleaning done this weekend picked up throughout straightened up. Sorted filed took the Christmas tree down. Finally you I know. It's up a little long but it seemed like such a shorter season this year for some reason so I just I you know. They didn't take the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree down until yesterday. Sunday in In Manhattan so I figured okay. Okay well I beat them by day a good tree this year it had the greatest smell just fresh pine whatever it I just. I don't know it just Lifted my spirits and Christmas tree topper wasn't the baby. Jesus or the The star the Bethlehem Star Star. It's For the third year in a row it was ruth. "Big cheer on You know don't don't gloat it. Don't don't do victory lab. They'll do an end zone dance by the way the end zone dances. Just keep getting better and better the choreography these NFL Games. It's incredible and It would interact. She really cool to see the Minnesota delegation. Do One of those new modern. NFL endzone choreographed dances. Once once impeachment was voted on Article One and article too I in fact policy plsy Algebra handle warned everybody to be dignified but we were up there right. We're in the first row in the balcony. There we just We started cheering. You're so happy and and and we're not members of Congress. Oh we don't have to follow any rules there we there we were. We got to watch this live right there in MM person and it was as easy as just getting on the train going down to our nation's capital there was such. There was a wave of emotion in that gallery. I looked around. Some people were tearing up tearing because nothing ever good really happens doesn't certainly coming out with our political establishment. You know it seems like the bad guys always win the people everyday people just trying to get by. I never get a good thing happen to them. Every once never get a break and then boom something like this happens tonight and it's like wow yeah yeah we can actually bring down somebody. Donald J trump. This guy has been bullying people since boarding school. He's been shit to so many people through his life he's never been called on. It never has had to suffer as a result of it never had been forced to change his ways to see what life is like for people that don't walk in his shoes. He's gotten away with it so many times. He's gotten away with it business. He's gotten away with it in violating all kinds of laws is in New York State New York City. Nobody ever. Nobody ever stopped him. Nobody could do it and then boom tonight tonight night. Two hundred and twenty nine hundred thirty members of Congress of all sorts of Americans that they represent. I said that's it Bali. Bali time is over and it really. You felt it in the room. And then you looked at the Republicans in Hayward the arena snarl of bitterness and anger in they wanted to start there revolution right then and all of a sudden this kind of Howell. I mean. They've been grumbling and doing that. Thing all day and into the night but when it was announced that he had been impeached. And that that was that and there wasn't anything else they were going to be able to do about it. They just started this kind of. I don't know how would you you guys describe it. I was just. It was a sound. How hard but it was a sound? I'd never heard before I have lived a long time. It seems I've heard all kinds of noises. I've been in all kinds of rooms and I'd never heard this. That's I'm totally incapable of reenacting for you. They would not allow my podcast recorder Into the into the House Gallery They would not. They took our iphones from us. So we couldn't have those in there so so I have. It's in my head and I don't know I don't know how to describe what it sounded like but it was it was it was unreal and I got up. I stood up and whether I should stay enlist more of this we should. Let's just get the hell out of here. Maybe this is the best way to put it the dinosaurs. What was that like was at like when they met their end when they were in their final days they realized it was over? They knew they weren't going to survive. These large large creatures brought down by essentially what we believe. Now the meteor hit the planet Earth earthern caused a series of events that cooked large parts of the earth and cooked the dinosaurs and made them. They couldn't move the Earth Earth was soul. Ground will so hot than I'm able to to survive in. They knew it was over and there was nothing they could do see. We didn't have video tape them. We didn't yeah film. We didn't have sound recorder so we know ideal look like or what it sounded like but I think what I heard tonight. I think that's what it sounded like. I think that they I think that there was a sense in the room. The Republicans that that they the others them the women the people that have color on their skin young people young women young women of color or taking over her taking over. We're not going to be empowered for much much longer. They know this. They know the end for their rain is near and this tonight was just one more example of that last call Philadelphia. You know it. It's also last call for the Republican Party. It's last call for these angry white guys who've been running things for way too long. The demographic art shows it the statistics the Mary. What's going to happen somewhere? In the twenty forty white people are going to be the minority in the United States of America. That's just a fact. And they know it. They don't like a lot of facts they no. This one's true they. They know that this is. This is the beginning of the end and that was the hallway. Heard knowing that they can't really do anything about it as long as we have a democracy as long as we have a system for one person one vote. They're doomed unless they can come up with another system unless dear leader. The commander doesn't doesn't leave the White House unless unless unless us US whatever it is. They're concocting in their bought brains Raines like anybody who has held power for any period of time in this case it would be thousands of years. They're not going to go quietly and they don't want to give it up and that's that's what we heard him person tonight in that House Chamber and it was both frightening and and also a reminder of the work that all of us have in promise what we need to do in an in the coming months before next year's election my friends please. This is not the time to sit out. I know you're busy and I know you're tired. I'm tired we don't have a choice. This invasion of the of the body snatchers is what we're witnessing. And it's time to stop arguing with them trying to convince them trying to do whatever it is you want to do with them. I know some of the families are. They're your friends or whatever but you just gotTa let him be and you've got to start talking to the women in the young people and and the people of color that you know about what we're going to do in this coming year to throw throw the bastards out. They've all gotta go. There was a banner and one of the rallies last night all across the country hundreds and hundreds of marches and rallies for impeachment and one of the banners said impeach them all that is the mood of the country now people have had it. I remain hopeful. I remain somewhat optimistic. That if we all get together there's more purpose than there are of them and tonight was great. Great first step mom my God those of you who are either going to sleep tonight or maybe you're listening to this in the morning. An incredible step was taken in the House Chamber last night. This was a credible Let's bill that okay. All all of us. That steps are the ones that you and I have to take. Were pulling out of Philly here on the Amtrak Amtrak number sixty six. The last train the other night to New York City and Newark and New York will be our next steps. will off the train and we'll go home and we'll think about this. We'll get up in the morning and we're all GonNa do what we gotta do and everybody should be celebrating this moment.
