Rep. Chip Roy: Dems Ignore Border Crisis As China & Cartels Profit

"What is amazing to me that The White House likes to say this debt crisis is man-made This entire thing on the borders man-made It's all Biden made It's Democrat party made And yet it's not even a priority with your democratic colleagues in the house Not at all We were literally just debating our bill that we passed successfully out of the house of judiciary committee with our mutual friend Jim Jordan as the chairman We had Mark green and Michael McCall there from homeland and from foreign affairs We've got a really good bill that would reverse a lot of these policies Solidify our existing law but try to force the hand of the administration to stop releasing people because releasing people is the magnet and its purposeful Instead we would just simply say you got to detain people you got to put them through expedited removal or they got to wait in Mexico while their silent claims being processed That's it And if you do that the floor will stop You'll stop bowing cartels You'll stop empowering China who are getting rich off of what they're doing and pushing people through Mexico And Mike democratic college to your point literally don't care To them this is all a political issue and they could not give a rip about what's happening to Texas or migrants or Americans and they go around saying how compassionate they are But they're not offering any solutions We are We have a good Bill It's a really good Bill The best border security bill that I've seen come through if we can get it across the finish line We have a few little moving parts we're trying to finish the next 48 hours

Rep. Michael McCaul: Chinese Spy Balloon Was an Act of Espionage

"Here's the chairman of the House foreign affairs committee, congressman Michael McCall, with Maria bartiromo yesterday on Fox News. He says, 5 balloons have great capability to gather and collect intelligence. I would argue more so than even satellites in the sense that they're flying it say 40 to 60,000 feet above the earth, the imagery that they can capture and other intelligence data that I can't be specific about can be captured and then transmitted back to the mothership in Beijing. They have control over these balloons. This was an act of espionage and plain sight plain view of the American people. I know there have been reports of prior ones, but none quite like this. And the reason why this one is so damaging is I do a damage assessment about what really happened that day, this balloon went over three of our most sensitive nuclear sites. One being in Montana that runs the triad that's air land and sea nuclear strikes and counter strikes that went over our strategic command in Omaha, Nebraska, where our biggest stockpile of nuclear weapons exist I mean, don't you think that Biden should be addressing the American people about a blatant act of espionage? From the communist Chinese party?

"Speaking of Washington says we could soon see a war between the U.S. and China. Let's go to the newsroom now and Bloomberg said Denise. Thank you Kathleen a U.S. general yes says China and the U.S. could be at war within two years. This is the word from four star general Michael minahan, telling his officers to prepare for this and representative Michael McCall Republican from Texas chairman of the House foreign affairs committee as well tells Fox News Sunday. He agrees with the general. It could happen. I think as long as Biden is in office, projecting weakness as he did with Afghanistan that led to Putin invading Ukraine that the odds are very high, we could see a conflict with China and Taiwan and the indo Pacific. This goes back to my father's war, World War II. And McCullough also says he doesn't want it to be true, but Bloomberg's senior Asia editor Bill fairy says Taiwan would not actually be that easily beaten. It would be a horrible conflict for all sides and the global economy, but there have been some more gaming done, some more game done in the U.S. that suggests that Taiwan would actually get through this conflict. Badly damaged, but without China taking over. And ferries with us earlier here on Bloomberg daybreak Asia. Some possible movement on the debt ceiling House speaker Kevin McCarthy says he's looking forward to talking with President Biden about it that'll happen Wednesday says he does see some signs of a compromise and he says social security and Medicare are off the table. Social security Medicare, you can keep that to the side. What I want to look at is they've increased spending by 30%, $400 billion in four years. And McCarthy there on CBS face nation heard here on Bloomberg radio. Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholes warning of an arms race says he's ready to talk to Vladimir Putin about ending the war with Ukraine but former defense secretary Robert Gates says support for Ukraine is holding up as we approach the one year mark and he says Putin will not back down. Putin, Putin believes it's his destiny to recreate the Russian Empire. And as my old mentor's big brzezinski used to say, without Ukraine, there can be no Russian Empire. So he is obsessed with retaking Ukraine. He will hang in there. And gates there on CBS face the nation. Global news powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in more than a 120 countries. "Thank you, Nathan, 6 O 7 on Wall Street. Let's bring in Michael Barr with more on what else is going on in New York and around the world. Good morning, Michael. Good morning, Amy. A white gunman who targeted a buffalo supermarket in a predominantly black neighborhood, plans to plead guilty today on state charges and killing ten people and wounding three others. Peyton gendron, who is 19, is scheduled to appear in Erie county court for a hearing that was postponed for a week by a snowstorm. The 25 count grand jury indictment includes charges of a hate crime and domestic terrorism motivated by hate, which carries an automatic life sentence upon conviction. Also faces charges for separate federal hate crimes. Ukraine is suffering a power crisis after Russian strikes on its power grid. The capital key is covered in snow as temperatures fall below freezing across the country. Electricity has been restored to most areas in at least a limited capacity for just hours in the day. Meanwhile, the congressman who would chair the House intelligence committee when the GOP assumes majority in January, says rumors that Republicans will pull back congressional support of Ukraine are not true. Mike Turner of Ohio says, though, the GOP led house will pass aid to Ukraine as stand-alone measures. We don't need to pass $40 billion large Democrat bills that have been being passed to send $8 billion to Ukraine. And the GOP congressman who will become chair of the House foreign affairs committee, Michael McCall, says he will support giving longer range missiles to Ukraine. If we lose in Ukraine, chairman Xi is going to look at Taiwan. And the I toll is already all in with Russia and China in this fight and Kim Jong-un now is providing artillery shells to Russia to fight the Ukrainians. McCall of Texas and congressman Turner spoke on ABC's this week, which can be heard Sundays on Bloomberg. Many of Donald Trump's potential 2024 rivals and some top Republicans have fallen silent on the former president's dinner with a notorious white supremacist. Trump's impromptu dinner with Nick Fuentes at Mar-a-Lago last week has drawn condemnation from only a handful of Republicans while most sidestepped the matter or said nothing. However, Republican representative James comer of Kentucky was critical of the dinner. Well, certainly needs better judgment in who he dies with. Along with representative comer, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, was also critical of Trump for putting out a plate for Fuentes. Giuliani's lawyers say prosecutors in Atlanta informed them of that today, the Georgia investigation was spurred by a phone call between former president Trump and George Secretary of State Brad raffensperger back in January of 2021. During that conversation, the ex-president suggested raffensperger could find the votes needed to overturn his narrow loss in the state, the Fulton county district attorney is also interested in Georgia legislative committee hearings back in December of 2020, where Giuliani spread false claims of election fraud in Fulton county. Also today, South Carolina Republican senator Lindsey Graham said he plans to appeal a ruling requiring him to testify before the special grand jury. He did for that Georgia election investigation. "Latest news evicting world markets powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in over a 120 countries This is Bloomberg radio Now a global news update Dozens of Ukrainian civilians have reportedly evacuated a factory where they had taken refuge from Russian bombing in the port city of Mario pole Russian media sources report two groups of civilians evacuated the neighborhood near a major steel plant President Biden's latest aid package for Ukraine should pass through Congress quickly That's according to representative Michael McCall appearing on ABC's this week Biden requested $33 billion in the latest round of aid McCall believes Ukraine can win against Russia if they are supplied with the tools to do it Every day we don't send them more weapons is a day or more people will be killed in a day where they could lose this war Moderna's chief medical officer is confident about the FDA's review of its COVID-19 vaccine for young children appearing on CBS's face the nation doctor Paul Burton confirmed that Moderna would have all necessary data submitted in time for the FDA's June meeting He called data on the vaccine for children under the age of 6 very reassuring in terms of safety That's the latest I'm Dina kodiak You're listening to Bloomberg businessweek with Carol massar and Bloomberg quick takes Tim still of it from Bloomberg radio Planning a wedding whether for yourself or your kid or anyone else Kind of say it's among the most stressful social activities on the planet but what if your reward or job for doing so was let's say a 6 or perhaps a 7 figure page Would that kind of help take the edge off Probably Maybe probably it's still a very stressful job Well Bloomberg proceeds team has the right person to help us find out A brand impressed her has already been undercover as a go between for Vegas high rollers a decade on super yachts even you'll recall not so long ago as a cast member at Disney World now he's taken us behind the scenes at some ultra opulent weddings I mean we're talking ultra opulent like tens of millions of dollars Like crazy amount Brandon spent a week working with some of the top event planners in the world and discovered all the unromantic work that goes into achieving nuptial bliss He and Bloomberg pursuit editor Chris riles are joining us now with a look at the lead story in this week's pursuit section Chris let me just set you and Brandon of known each other for a while You've done a lot of these ventures I gotta say the Disney one was a fave of mine So tell me about how did you suggest this to Brandon Brandon did Brandon come to you with this idea Brandon came to us with this idea So we sometimes when we're daydreaming about where to send the amazing brand and undercover we'll think okay what's a crazy sort of ultra luxury experience that we want to know more about Being a ski instructor at Aspen or being a waiter at nobu And then Brandon through this process actually gets to know a lot of the people who work in service in these industries and he can sometimes say you know I have an in at this place where I think we can do this So we did our luxury vacations like honeymoon planning and that kind of led him to this We started think Brandon with Colin cowie That's a good place to start because he is the party planner to the stars Who is he and why do you need at least a million bucks for him to even pay attention to you Well I think Colin has cultivated a celebrity status in his own right And he sort of created a brand around himself Long before the idea of branding oneself was a thing back about 2025 years ago he started working with Oprah And Oprah sort of dubbed him the event printers to the star So then everyone came running And then so he's planned events and weddings for everyone from John Travolta to Bruce Willis around Seacrest to Mariah Carey And so the brand has fallen around and people who want that sort of star studded experience seek them out And he can command a $1 million to produce a sort of entry level wedding in his world What is he like a supermodel from the 90s I don't get out of bed for a $1 million But today you do that because when I was writing this story I actually was toying with trying to do like a Linda evangelist lead for the story and it just totally it ended up being a bit of a big metaphor but I was thinking about that the whole time So Chris what was it that you wanted to know top of mind from Brandon Well you know a lot of times what's interesting about these undercover stories is a that the people who work that Brandon works with are incredibly talented and they are able to accomplish superhuman feats of making amazing things happen dealing with insane requests And then B the second was interesting thing is usually the bad behavior or the wild requests of the people who are indulging in the service So I wanted to know how crazy the brides and grooms were And Brandon actually learned that the whole sort of bridezilla groomsville thing isn't really as much of a thing at this tier when people are spending one to $11 million on a wedding They're getting everything they want Exactly Well what about mom Zilla or dad Zoe Right So the people the zillas are the people around the bride and groom and Brandon saw some bad behavior on the parts of families of celebrities so I don't know Brandon you wanna tell them about some of the family bad behavior you saw Yeah no absolutely Yeah going into this I was really excited to mine some of the more classic bread build stories And it was told to be right from the start you know when you're getting everything you want for your wedding the villa attitude doesn't come out But then the moms are like creeps out especially amongst new moneyed individuals because likely when they were in their 20s or early 30s having their wedding they didn't get to have the $9 million wedding So some of.

Where there are six airplanes that are not owned by Glenn Beck. But Glenn Beck is using these airplanes to try to help folks escape Afghanistan. You've got From what I understand There's a number of different, um, estimates out there as far as how many people are actually trying to be Ferried out of Afghanistan evacuated out of Afghanistan. Some people say it's 100. Some people say it's 500, some people say Will never know how many Americans remain in Afghanistan, but over the weekend Really fascinating thing is going on where there are the six airplanes, the debate chartered by none other than Glen Beck, and they're sitting on this tarmac in Afghanistan. And so apparently, what they're saying is that this is an apparent shakedown by the Taliban because they simply will not allow these planes to take off. So there's a couple of different stories that are floating out floating around the Internet. One Is that these airplanes? They were chartered indeed, by Glenn Beck and some of these private companies and the state Department, through their own incompetence, forgot or did not tell the Taliban that it was okay for these planes to take off. So that's number one. And so then the Taliban decided. Well, heck, we're not going to allow these planes to take off because we can get more out of the government of the United States of America in the Biden administration, if we simply play hardball. And so the big question is as the Taliban. These planes have been sitting therefore, I mean, it's been days now this whole thing has been going on over the Labor Day weekend. You've got these Americans and you've got these Afghanistan allies. They're not in the airplanes. As far as I can tell. They've been Ferried over or ushered into safe homes. You know, safe houses while they Taliban and America works this whole thing out, But the question is Are these planes actually being held hostage where there's a lot of Republicans that say? Yes, they are being held hostage. This is Michael McCall. He is a congressman out of Texas, and in fact, we have six airplanes. At Mazar I Sharif Airport six airplanes with American citizens on them as I speak also with these interpreters, and the Taliban is holding them hostage for demands. Right now. They we have state has cleared these flights and the Taliban will not let them leave the airport, and that's my concern is they're going to demand more and more, whether it be cash or legitimacy. As the government of Afghanistan. What demands are the Taliban making? Well, they are not. They are not clearing the airplanes to depart. The they've set sat at the airport for the last couple days. These planes and they're not allowed to leave. We know the reason why is because the Taliban wants something in exchange. This is really Chris turning into a hostage situation. Where they're not going to allow American citizens to leave until I get full recognition from the United States of America the that's what it is. It's all about full recognition from the United States of America from Joe Biden. To the Taliban being the quote unquote official government of Afghanistan. Now I don't know about you and I'm never been in the military always wish I had, but I've never been in the military. And for days, Biden State Department could not even get out of its own way. And then finally Ted Cruz tweeting this out. Now they're deeply disturbing reports of a hostage crisis. So there's a few things one Is it possible? I don't think so. But perhaps some media outlets are reporting that the Afghans on board didn't have the proper paperwork, the proper passwords, et cetera, the passports, etcetera. I'm also reading that the Taliban are negotiating for more money from the airport. But see to me it seems to make all the sense in the world that what they desperately want with the Taliban desperately one and desperately need. Is recognition that they are the legitimate government government of Afghanistan because that opens up the door for, you know, trade deals, trade negotiations, You know this kind of thing. And so there's a lot of people within the Biden ministrations that probably don't want to Admit that the Taliban are the official government of Afghanistan, but we can't have that. But what's happened now is that Biden ministrations because of their ineptitude and its ineptitude. They've sort of painted themselves into a corner. But while all of this is going on, you've got a president who is essentially missing in action. He's on vacation in Delaware. Again. We have people still in Afghanistan. They won't let our planes leave. This is it's a travesty of the worst kind. You know he's prioritizing his vacation over the lives of American citizens. You know, he kept his promises to the Taliban, and he's breaking his promises to Americans to get them out. And God only knows what will happen if they can't get out. You know who is in charge? That's the question that I have, as well as many of my colleagues who is in charge is pulling the strings because all people want to know is for someone to be accountable, and we would need to be reassured. That's the bottom line. The American people need To be reassured that they're taking care of business and they can't do it. Yeah, I got to be honest with you. You know, every time I hear that I've played that audio by a couple of different times tonight. And every time I hear, hear that audio bite, I'm thinking How could you know Biden in the Biden administration? How could they convince you? That they really are not only in charge but in control. Because I think it is abundantly clear that no Joe Biden and the Biden administration they are certainly not in control. Kamala Harris. She's been missing in action during this whole thing. She clearly Has not been paying attention to the southern border. The other catastrophe that Joe Biden is engaged in and so right now, as I've often said many times as a matter of fact. There really is. Nowhere to rest your eyes as we come out of Labor Day weekend. We've got a disaster on the border. We've got a disaster in Afghanistan. We've got inflation numbers that are going up. We've got jobless claims that continue. I should say the unemployment numbers also continue to go up. We have a lot of issues in this country, and unfortunately it's not getting any better. Crime also is continuing to rise coming up next. I'm going to tell you all about what happened over the weekend. In Chicago. But first I want to say hello to Georgia. Nashville on Red Eye Radio. Hello, George. Good morning. How are you? Damn, I'm good. Thanks for calling in. Yes, sir. One of the points I was trying to make. It was a previous caller named Tom is about HR 57 articles of impeachment For Joe Biden. It goes back and basically explains all his economic dealings with the Soviet Union and with China. Okay. Also like the Southern border that's aiding and abetting, you know enemies. Well, I wouldn't say enemies, but still, it's an open borders. So that's another article of impeachment for him. He's a trader. It's treason. And he's still in office is beyond me. Well, there, it's in black and white..

Texas Congressman Michael McCaul Says Taliban Holding Americans Hostage

"A ranking member of the house foreign affairs committee says the taliban is holding americans hostage during an interview on fox news. Sunday congressman. Michael mccall said. The taliban prevented six airplanes filled with american citizens and their afghan interpreters from leaving the country on saturday clearing their points to depart. The they've sat at the airport for the last couple days. these planes and they're not allowed to leave We know the reason why is because the taliban wants something in exchange. This is really turning into a hostage situation where they're not get allow american citizens to leave until they get full recognition from the united states of america. The chartered planes are at an airport. In the northern city of mazari sharif an afghan official confirmed four. Planes have been grounded but he claimed the passengers afghans not americans and that they did not have passports or visas to leave the country. The flights were headed for cutter but it was not immediately clear. Who chartered them. Meanwhile a small number of commercial flights have resumed at kabul's international airport. All are flying. Domestic routes telephone leaders continued to insist. They will be more tolerant than they were. During their last time in power on sunday the education department issued a statement saying women could continue to attend university but classes must be segregated by sex or at least divided by a curtain so men and women cannot see each other. "Cd you might love. It might not be for you either. Calipers great but you need to try to give a try and try your first order. Cbc could be something. That's a mainstay lazing in your life. That really just makes you better does mind for sure. So give it a go guys. Let's talk about what's going on in afghanistan so Representative michael mccall of texas. Who is the top republican on the house. Foreign affairs committee is claiming that the taliban is preventing select flights from leaving the small airport at missouri. Schrief airport Saying that the planes include americans of the taliban was not letting them take off. This is on sunday. He went on fox news saying that they were effectively holding them hostage to quote adding that they were going to start making demands If the i guess to get these americans out is what he was saying. You did not say where the info came from so think blackmailing and bribing. Yeah suffolk heavily sounded the alarm on fox news and again. This guy is the top republican on the foreign affairs committee. But he wouldn't say where the info came from so everyone kind of dug into it and there's some conflicting reports but here's what we do know. He said six planes. It seems that there are actually maybe more like four planes or at least four. There were charged to evacuate several hundred people seeking to escape taliban takeover of the of afghanistan But these people have been unable to leave the country for days. Now officials told the sunday of the taliban air power people didn't let them through taliban is not letting everyone leaves already sharieff. Great airport officials is totally clear to stay here. Officials told the apn sunday with conflicting accounts. Why the flights weren't able to take off as pressure. Ramps up the united states to help those who were left behind and trying to flee afghan official the airport in mazar a sharieff said the passengers wrath ganz not american citizens. Many of whom did not have passports or visas but said these these afghans. It said they'd worked for companies allied with the german military and the official report said that they left the airports. They're not at the airport. According to the officials they're hanging out in hotels waiting for this to get sorted out. So i dunno i. It's weird Something not good as going on You're going to see a lotta reports about that story today. But i'm sure more details. Emerging represented mccall. I guess that's his name from texas really banged the gone the gong but it doesn't seem that they're they're us citizens so keep an eye on that story. What we do know is that there probably associated with us and people that should be able to get out On another note. I want to read the washington post reported on sundays. Roughly twenty five thousand years embassy employees were among the one hundred and twenty thousand people. The united states evect by air from afghanistan. This is according to biden but the operation left quote many of our longtime partners behind. So this is the follow up guys. 'cause we can't forget about these people we can't forget about these people you know no-one thought about the afghan war for years and years when When before what happened recently and now it's back on a raider we're gonna keep it on radar because these people are still there. Were conscious other. We've talked about it. Allow if kate on conscious of the afghanistan civilians that helped us. We're conscious of their stole. What at least one. Hundred to two hundred hundred americans right. So that's sad and we want them out but like the taliban is in a one hundred percent control. They're in control of the airports right. The taliban leaders have come out and said stuff like we don't want any more afghanistan civilians leaving. We want to keep our intelligent people. We want to keep our doctors and at a high level the they don't even want them to leave because they're if they're not gonna kill which probably are they want him to work for them and conflict stole my wife. Well that's what i was bringing up at. The top of the mccall thing right because because obviously has intel that maybe he announced too early but obviously the people that are on those planes probably not citizens as he said but are related to us in some way shape or form. But then the reason i follow up with conflicting stories is they. They haven't been executed right so they're not american citizens they are people that might have helped us a but now they're hanging at hotels what they're going to be. We don't know it's just an important thing to keep an eye on. If the taliban is is going to be executing people. It seems to me. That if i want. I don't even want wish that ill energy out there. But even if they don't execute them seems like they want to keep them because they want to rebuild whatever's going on over there. I don't see them just giving up a bunch of afghanistan citizens right following up on so this is a continuation of the post quote from the washington. Post one person familiar with the matter said that they included about two thousand. Us embassy contractors immediate family members. These are people that left behind. Some of whom had worked at the embassy for more than a decade. The state department declined to comment on that number biden described the operation as quote ex- an extraordinary success nice biden with thousands of afghans considered vulnerable and eligible for evacuation fell through the cracks. They include american.

White House says Trump was not briefed on Russian bounty intelligence

"Okay, so, what did President Trump? No, and what should he have known about allegations that? Russia offered bounties to kill US troops in Afghanistan House. Democrats are going to the White House to ask today the New York. Times first reported on the bounties. The Times said intelligence about the Russian offers. A payment made it into president trump's daily brief months ago now the presidential daily brief is. Is almost like a classified newspaper for one very important reader NPR another reported over the years that this president does not usually read it. Despite various news reports about when the president was told, the White House said the information did not reach him NPR congressional reporter cloudy Gra has been following this one. Hey, Claudia, hi, there! What's going to happen at today's meeting at the White House? This will be led by House majority leader. Steny hoyer the white. House says they requested this meeting with Democrats and Democrats. Interns say they have a lot of questions related to these intelligence reports the group joining Hoyer at this meeting includes the chairs and members of several congressional committees with jurisdiction over this matter that includes House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff. He's raised a series of concerns including if the president. President wasn't briefed to. Was it a result of his relationship with Russian president. Vladimir Putin. I spoke to him yesterday about this. Let's take a listen watch. Concern that there's a unwillingness to confront the president with the evidence of Russia's Melania activity because he doesn't here. And this was a running theme. When it came to most Democrats, I spoke to yesterday. who were headed to the White House today. The White House briefed some congressional Republicans yesterday. Why was there meeting the Republican meeting a day earlier and what happened in that meeting? You know it's unclear why it was organized. This way in terms of just Republicans going in yesterday. However, they quickly followed that meeting. Saying Democrats are invited to. They're just coming tomorrow. Of the Republicans, who did go? They echoed the White House's narrative that the intelligence community is conflicted on what actually happened and they didn't think necessarily the trump should have been briefed, but they also expressed concerns. If the reports turn out to be true, I spoke to representative Adam. King's Inger of Illinois. He's a combat veteran. Let's take a listen. I think as we get more answers Then we'll know what the response needs to be, but I don't think built up to any kind of internal scandal, but it is definitely concerned by way of you know what role. Role is Russia Planning Afghantistan NPR also spoke with Michael McCall another house. Republican, who attended yesterday's meeting? He's the ranking member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and he said these allegations are very serious, and if true, he thinks the US needs to take swift and severe action against Putin and his mercenaries, another Senate member Senator Ben Sasse, said he's been hearing from military families this weekend. They're livid and right to be livid. They're looking for people in the city to be looking out for their kids safety because quote, they're on the frontlines of freedom fighting for us. Are there people who have been left out of today's briefing that surprise you that you would expect to have been invited most definitely. This includes members of the Senate Armed Services Committee. This includes congressional leaders among them House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She's called for the full House to be briefed and she and Hoyer say these briefings at the White House fall short of what's demanded here. They want the director of National Intelligence, the CIA to personally brief all house. Members at the Capitol and the story continues to evolve for example last night. The DNA and C.
