"To make the college football playoff. That's pretty high along with ohio. State wisconsin and notre dame round out the top four. The big ten by the way the best chance to have multiple teams make the college playoff at twenty five percent five. Look we saw listen. There were some mitigating factors there but nevertheless where they sit right now. What have you seen or learned about that. Notre dame squad over the last several weeks twice now in the in the past month and live and just talking to the coaching staff being around them watching what they're doing studying the tape against clemson. I didn't think a few weeks ago that this was one of the four best teams in the country. I do now and the biggest difference to me is the way in book is playing mean. We've always known. He's a good runner. Here's a tremendous competitor. I love walks in this guy on the sideline the way he talks to his offensive linemen the way he keeps every everything going with this wide receivers and the communication. But i've seen now he's able to understand what has from a personnel standpoint. Michael mayor the tight end his ability to utilize his size. Tommy trumbull the same thing at the tight end position but also seeing a guy like avery davis the last two weeks senior who's kind of exploded on the scene when they needed speed on the perimeter and a guy who can stretch the field he's provided that catches for one hundred forty eight yards and i think that's kind of opened up things offensively for this entire unit and he's been a guy todd that we've always text and talked about and amongst everybody. You're always like he's good. He's he's solid but now he in book looks like he could go. Maybe you went heiser. That's that's the transformation we've seen. This is the same team. By the way that beat louisville like what twelve to seven so with a great offensive line with with a great running back. And you're just waiting for ian book in the passing game to come along but the playmaking abilities awesome. Listen i believe in the irish. Because i think the irish complete football team. They don't have any weaknesses. Todd just talked about Clemson and talked about some things that they were concerned with their defense for the notre dame by the way on every level is really good. They're really solid. There's not a whole to to nitpick so. In this year you gotta be able to score points Team can get some stops. Maybe some turnovers in get the ball back to these high powered offenses in. Today's football has a chance to win. A notre dame or one of the four teams right now that i think you feel most confident and doing it. Well you got the sense that they believe. They're a complete football team. David there's just sort of a sense of calm a steady hand that you sense coming out of south bend to be continued still to come on college. Football live again one week next week. We'll see our college football rankings. Also we essentially have a big ten tournament this weekend. We'll look at the matchups that will likely play out college. "Now, I wish that I think back, I mean, the irony is too, when I found out when I got the phone call that I got it. I haven't really told the story in the Mary marquee, which is where play now. Yes, there is a lounge concierge lounge where they give out free food and a buddy of mine who we'd both moved here in two thousand four two thousand five. He was like there's this place. When you get free food at the main rookie you just have to sneak in. So we would go and sneak in for, you know off so many weeks months at a time. I can't tell you how much time I spent there enough that we have backstories I was prepared confronted me that I was Bill Marriott nephew. And if they asked for my key, I would be like, you know, I'm Bill. And like can I get your name all the ways to like, scare them so that they would avoid it because you can't be wrong. They don't wanna be wrong. So I got the phone call. Why we were there. My cellphone and steal the basically stealing food from the Mark. And now, now we're doing the show there and then suddenly like four or five years ago, I was the voice over for Marriott. No. Yes, it was. TV. You've seen it. You've seen. I've definitely seen and heard it, that's you can't make that anyway. So then I got back in. In two thousand six and then moved to New York. Forget. Yeah, then it was like, okay, let me try it again. Because now with that credit does that help your standing here. I mean, does it. No. It didn't hurt say that it didn't hurt but, you know, New York is a different animal, and it's a beast will. So that was also in two thousand six came back here. Right. And somehow by two thousand seven you're making your Broadway debut in a revival son in park with George so connect the dots. Why did the luck? Okay. Here we go. So two thousand six ham onto the Guthrie and Mel, Marvin, who's a composer. He did the music Vander scoring for hamlet. And he's also friends with Tom Jones, who wrote fantastic. Right. Not the Welsh pop star. So he said, you know, they're doing revival of the fantastic closed and other reopening it at a new theater in midtown. I think you should addition for this, and it was couldn't be anything more different than hamlet than the fantastic. So I was like, yeah, why not? So I lucked out and getting an addition right away from that. And then I left that after four months. An idiot because I was like took a regional done everyone else. Like, why are you leaving? What do you mean? We did it. And then I went out to the old globe, and I did hay fever. And then it came back and did sending the park, just a regular audition. Yeah. Totally regular. Yeah, absolutely. Didn't know anybody Jim Carnahan didn't know me, I think it was the first know that was there was, you know, again full circle there was a workshop of the filming go kit, which is now up at Hartford stage in the musical, Henry, Krieger, had written the music and Michael mayor was directing, and James mcgruder had written the book, and I had a cold audition for it, and met Jim Carney through that, which I ended up getting didn't go anywhere. Obviously, and now whole different team is writing, but that's how I mentioned Carnahan who, then brought me in for Sunday in the park, which was just an addition, I think what, you know, having mentioned these first few credit, somebody who isn't familiar with you before this might say, wait a minute. So he's doing hamlet. And then he singing, and he's doing what I read that kind of blew my mind was that in college where by that time, apparently, it was already clearly to you that, you know, you were a better than normal singer right by probably by quite a lot. Even at that point, you didn't want people to know that you sang. Yeah. Tried to hide it. Why? Because. For the same reason that we're talking about right now. Everybody wants to put everybody in a box human nature..

"A little bit inappropriate. And what are you gonna do? Fire him think. Do we ever discussed wasn't didn't CJ kiss will on the cheek recently? Yes. That the previous episode. Yeah. Maybe it was last up. So will was very happy about it was. Yes, big beaming smiles there, maybe we'll might have a little thing for CJ. I think will is really just desperate for any kind of attention. I think so too when CJ walks in there's this great moment where she smells the flowers and things there for her. And if they're fairly L, but then she walks into Leo's office, which is now her office, and it's full of flowers, and I had this visual memory of the third season for six feet under. I don't know if you remember this back in two thousand and three they were big billboards in LA there is a photo of the cast shot by Gregory Cruzan. Who's a great photographer? It's very rare that he does any kind of commercial anything, but he did this shot of. The cast of six feet under surrounded by flowers in the home in this was like the main image for the third season and the lighting in Leo's office and the flowers and CJ reminded me a lot of that image. That's a great shot. Have we discussed at all the the change in cinematography on the show? Thomas. Del Ruth has left the show right director photography, and Michael mayor has taken over, and I know on our message boards a lot of people have been commenting on us late change. And look the show maybe a little bit moodier darker, and you didn't even know that it could get darker. It was so dimly lit it was dark to begin with. Yes. But but there is a shift, and maybe I'm not articulating a well, a slight shift in look and lighting and camera work is well, we got a lot in this episode of hand held camera work, which I think helps to sort of give this feeling of seeing the administration through new eyes. I liked this episode a lot and once we've gotten past the reservations, we may be had about the credibility of a press secretary moving to chief of staff. Now that she's in CJ is great. And it's I'm enjoying watching her first day. And I think the hand held photography sort of accentuates, the look and feel and movement of that first day on the job. Yeah. This is so far my favorite episode of the season. We're only four episodes in. But I I love this episode to. Yeah. As do I one of the things that's going on is Toby makes is starting can make a mess of things in the briefing room. He has a gaffe after gaffe, he says of their CJ craze, not the only one working without a net. You know, in the film Bulworth Warren Beatty was working with that Annette. Wow. So you were saying very rudely. He's getting harangued by the press. And then steps a little too far with this sarcasm and he says event. They all lose their way. The president can always send CJ crack to Ramallah to swatted suicide bombers with her purse. In the whole place goes crazy in the and the staff starts to run..

"Um so i suppose the thing that i was the most interested in is telling one woman's story and so even of their million people on stage you have this one woman moving through various disguises various it of crimes all designed as a copy mechanism for an unseen childhood trauma an an an unseen until the end of abusive relationship with her mother and what that does sort of hattrick louis is it allows us to to see how she is now or how she hasn't in the in the present and then unravel what seeds were planted in her childhood um that made her that way and it it seems to me like nop it was a great way to express that and there's different points of view really between the book and the film because hitchcock's bones to bihendra need it that we see our it as as kind of imprisoned whereas money in the book com or agency hasn't she martin she stated her various techniques had deceptions in crimes yeah i mean i would i would say agencies a is a complicated word because of quit their sort of local agency on in the in the practical ways once i think what you're talking about which has seen how does how does she had received die her hair had a she had her she actually physically get into the safe but then as i imagine will hear later there is this lack of agency brought on by what happened see was a kid and brought on by the environment in which you raised or not raised as as the case may be and that sense of being trapped by a background on by things that she doesn't understand about had shouted i mean how do you actually demonstrate the sort of predatory nature all of society to lose women in the production so what what nicolas rights libretto makes very clear is that she identifies with pray she identifies as as as someone who's hunted what michael mayor has done physically is that we have a we have a core of.

"And astounding company of death and hearing impaired actors def west which is based in los angeles has been part of two shows that went to broadway and were nominated for tony awards big river in two thousand and three and spring awakening in 2015 as with all deaf west productions every line is delivered in american sign language and deaf actors are paired with speaking actors the director of our town is cheryl keller she recently visited our studio does and i began by asking her if she has previously worked with death actors i'd never dennis chela jeff west but when i first started working again i had directed at play for national theatre if the gaffe that toured the country and the whole process of incorporating a s l n chief a play was always very evocative for me because as how is such a lyric call descriptive locational language which speaks everything to wipe people stand onstage so when danny feldman got the artistic director get the plan house in he said what he wanted to do i said i wanted to our town with jeff west and he said cool and after god gave out i wanna ask you before we talk about working with jeff factors about watching deaf actors because as you say a cell is a very expressive language so even if there are people in the audience who don't understand the language what does an audience who is a theory member of the audience cnn performance by assigning actor that a speaking actor might not necessarily give them they say in theater you have to get it passed the foot lights and still feel intimate and i think a s l is a language that is just naturally drawn to that in that if you think about a deaf person they're missing at complete sense so what happens is everything that one would think about hearing is put into their hands interestrate hands has therefore there is a synergy and a beautiful intimate largess to the language i saw the original production of spring awakening directed by michael mayor on broadway and then i saw out of the wall as the production that was a collaboration with jeff west.
