"Crap. I look in all seriousness. I love the honest to goodness. I love the guy of so. I'll say i actually asked this question. I had matt welsh on my podcast now. That name might not mean much to some of your listeners. But matt welsh has been associated with reason magazine for a long time and there was a little bit of a spat between reason magazine and me and i i don't i don't wanna fight with people i honestly don't and so michael said you know you two should should hash this out. So we both went on michael's podcast and then we each went on each other's program. So i had matt well. John and the very first question. I asked i said now. Look you and i have been tiptoeing around this and we have to. He's thinking i'm going to ask him about rothbart. Some controversial figure and i said but we just need to get this question on the table. What do you like best about michael. So he's off. Okay that i am but what he said was was quite similar. My own answer. Which is his loyalty malice again. If you don't know michael mouses follow me on twitter you'll never be the same again. Your brain will be more but in a good way. It's a good kind of warping that occurs when you follow malice. But he is a. He's a very loyal friend if he's your friend he's your friend through thick and thin and i saw that the very first time. I met him very first time. I met him when you would think you know you're trying to be friendly very first time. You you know you wouldn't really try to open up pandora's box or or cause controversy. Just want to become friends. And i made a comment about somebody. It turns out he likes respects very much and instead of just letting it pass. It's just in the interest of of keeping our first meeting pleasant whatever he gently but firmly pushed back against an explain the merits of this person and i remember thinking. Wow if he'll do that for this person you know. I guess he just does that for his friends. And that's that's how he's the kind of guy some terrible is happening in my life and he'll get on the phone for an hour and a half with me and we'll work it up and there just aren't that many people in this world like that and he doesn't always give away his softy side online and he seems like he's tough as nails sometimes but he is deep down a softy tree at twitter michael malice in real life. Michael mauser. not exactly the same person and say you've talked about michael malice longer than ron paul. I don't know. I had a self because over the course of my career. I've trust me. I've talked about ron paul. Another question from superfan. What's with all the books.

"Flash Charlie thanks a lot you are listening to Bloomberg businessweek just following on a story that Charlie just mentioned the beyond meat impossible make Donald story Bloomberg is getting in touch with impossible foods and that company saying it CEOs comments were misinterpreted I'm quoting here a spokeswoman name Rachel Conrad she said quote our intention is to be everywhere we would never close the door never abandon a relationship so that initial report as Charlie said send beyond meat surging twelve percent at the close so we'll see what the back and forth who's like here but you know clearly this is a this is the holy grail for for a lot of people getting into McDonnell headline crossed we kind of scratch their heads a little bit like whoa you know because obviously this is what you want to kind of mass distribution and and out like a McDonald's anyway we to follow that it's really continue to follow those a stock specifically beyond meat which surged in the after hours are you listening to Bloomberg businessweek account mass along with Jason Kelly let's not forget the Consumer Electronics Show is under way in Las Vegas it is happening a lot of headlines coming out of there let's check in with the chief operating officer of Harmon that's Michael Mauser he joins us on the phone from Vegas baby tell us what you're seeing out there Michael you know we're seeing fantastic technologies especially makes a focus on a I I T. intelligence personalization across the border we see several companies offering new technologies which are really impacting the connectives lifestyle of consumers going forward yet let's talk about because anybody has been the consumer electronics I've been but it was a while ago and I the focus is you know a lot of automotive as you said a I artificial intelligence I owe to the internet of things when you go to an event like this there's so many different companies what are the kinds of technologies and and things that you guys specifically are looking for yeah so for our purposes but we're doing what we're showing is a combining basically technologies to real consuming spirits you will see that across the border in automotive consume all you'll and also in professional solutions I think that is the chains compares to pry years right we don't stop talking about technologies we leveraging what makes comments so strong and competitive our broad portfolio of knowledge base which includes digital carpet which includes the clouds and an old car technologies old you'll don't forget because Tom is very famous about old you'll ever capacity and combining those two bundles and being able to transform technologies into real Bailey waited experiences across the border especially when it comes to mobility is very important and so Michael you know when you talk about the automotive landscape we caught up with one of the senior executives at qual com talk about some of their announcements out there in Las Vegas at CVS yesterday and we talked a lot about five G. and what that may portend for the auto market for the consumer market how does five G. fit into your vision of the future here I think you know at the file and and it's pretty clear that five key is the back but when the baby's this for everything what we going to see in the future of mobility right think about the connected car so when we talk about mobility services mobility experiences at that will not happen with five G. high speed and low latency documentation and data transfer old enormous Weidman the five G. is a mass must be technology in order to support journal striving same portrait mobility and personalization we're talking a lot about you know keeping for example a market place with apps and services in the clouds and and you know to download to keep the the car up to date with a lifetime that group that require and of course five G. and you might have seen the latest announcements between BMW Hamann and some some we are in debt markets completely up to date we are delivering and launching the first industry first five P. solution together with BMW in the market in twenty twenty one what you guys are a subsidiary corrective says Sam some electronic yeah you know it's funny because when I think about the connected car I mean I feel like we're getting you know we're already seeing a lot of connectivity when it comes to you know getting into our vehicles how much further can we push this yeah I think and you you you know with a mega trend as software basically replacing soft and hardware right and I think that will be the next level I will be showcasing the less we depending on hardware so we are refusing of course the bottlenecks all the upgrades and flexibility in the future so I see definitely the move off processing software processing content being delivered out of the clouds rather than a processing locally and embedded in the car and so what's been the most surprising thing to you you know you're you're out there you sort of seeing things is there any sort of Gee whiz wow technology that you seen I mean we've seen flying thing we've seen you know all sorts of new and different stuff is is there something that's really catching the buzz this year yeah you know what to and you know independent of common of course I'm a very very impressed what we are presenting but yesterday I boss at the keynote speech from some some electronics and it's a chicken and he was talking also an about consumer focus which is exactly the scheme we are telling as well and we're talking about but he was talking about and I think he quoted Bali a small robot which is following him they cross for the most amazing and that so was and how strong that technology is going to be all right we're gonna leave their thank you so much for spending sometime with us on what I'm sure is a very busy day Michael Mauser chief operating officer Harmon he turned on the phone from Las Vegas was interesting and I think about you know Jason we think about the future you go back a few decades and what movies would print you know predict the future would look like in these robots coming out but I do think you know and it kind of felt a little cold but I do think we're getting increasingly comfortable with the role of technology despite the push back against Tate tech companies and privacy issues you know whether it's talking to something at our home to turn on things turn off things you know go back to kind of a room to you no room to hide vacuuming look I think we're getting used to having more devices total in our world taking care of things I mean between yet I feel like room but and Alexa like my near two year old can address always a I think I'm not Gaza which elected doesn't quite pick up on only common but Bloomberg is definitely then addressed a number of times and actually she calls the robot you know they have robots in the grocery store and so you know who are looking for spells that robot it's also called rupa I'm sad yeah exact that fiction it seems that the grocery store yeah it did they stop and shop at least on the birds they you know essentially roam the aisles and there is if you looking for stuff that's fallen on the floor or spilled and then than the report about how that's really fascinating are anyway I'm looking forward to hearing more from C. S. in terms of the highlights and I think when all is said and done I will get a good picture of what were some of the big developments out of it but it is a I I or T. its cars it's all that stuff coming up we're gonna check in with no up higher this is in some ways I would follow yeah to a story that he and as me to pray had a while ago or actually not that long ago about the homeless problem affordable housing out west it's a big deal in the meantime let's get to Bob moon he's got your world and national headlines and thank you very much nobody wants to get US troops out of the Middle East as president trump more than he does but today trump declared now is not the right time to leave Iraq as he defended his decision to kill an Iranian general who insists he was planning more attacks on Americans in the meantime the president returned to his off repeated claim that his impeachment is nothing more than a partition hoax it's in many ways the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on our country is one of the great hoaxes ever this as Senate leader Mitch McConnell announced he now has the votes he needs to run the trump trial the way he wants to holding off a decision on whether to call witnesses that Democrats have demanded democratic leader Chuck Schumer says there will be a reckoning we are telling our Republican colleagues you can run but you can't hide there will be votes on the four witnesses that we have asked for there will be votes on the three sets of documents that we have requested house speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to hold up the articles of impeachment she is set to meet tonight with her leadership team on her next move and the first batch of space bake cookies is back on earth they were sent back home by SpaceX today global use twenty four hours a day on air and.
