Nuggets on brink of NBA Finals with 119-108 win over Lakers in Game 3
"The nuggets now need just one more win to reach the NBA final for the first time after beating the Lakers in game three one 19 to one O 8, but coach Michael Malone says it's no time to relax. I'm proud of our group, but we're not celebrating. We have to get another win and to close this thing out. Jamal Murray scored 31st half points and ended with 37. Nikola Jokić battled foul trouble and finished with 24 Anthony Davis had 28 points in 18 rebounds to lead the Lakers. Mark Myers Los Angeles

Nuggets beat Suns 118-102 in Game 5 to regain series lead
"The nuggets are one went away from advancing to the Western Conference Finals. This, after they grabbed a three games to lead by defeating Phoenix one 18 one O two, that said, Denver coach Michael Malone says his team will need to play tough defense in game 6. When we're not running and we're not defending, we're going nowhere. And that's what we have to do game 6 and a couple of nights. If we're going to try to close the series out. Nicola jokic dominated with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. Game 6 is Thursday in Phoenix. Bruce Morton, Denver

Nuggets eliminate Wolves 112-109 behind Murray, Jokic
"The nuggets closed out their first round series with Minnesota in 5 games with a one 12 one O 9 victory. That left Denver coach Michael Malone with a sigh of relief. To win a series. I don't care 8 seed one seed, all that other BS to win a series in the playoffs is hard. So I'm really proud of our guys. With the exception of the series opener, every game was hard fought. In the clincher, it wasn't until 52 seconds left when a putback by Nikola Jokić lifted Denver up for good. Next up for the nuggets is Phoenix, a series that begins at home on Saturday. "Morning. Matt Smith in for Mike Evans today, alongside Mark schiller. Thank good morning, happy Monday. How are you buddy, man? Good to hear you. Good to see you. Yeah. Are they good? Yeah, everything is everything is very good. I'm here. You know, it's obviously adjusting to this time of day. I haven't seen it in a while. Yeah, it sneaks up, especially after you have to set your clocks forward, I guess. It's Ford. That one, that one screws you up a little bit. Oh, totally. The spring forward, I actually had to do the show because we knew the show on Sunday mornings. So I had to do it yesterday during spring forward. So it felt even earlier than this yesterday. So a little bit, I just had to grind it out because that's what I am. Not too worried about it. They made the call to the bullpen because Evan said he was just Tapping out. You know, you had enough of you. He needed the four day week this week. I don't blame him. He's like, it's like a dog. We used to have dogs all the time. All the kids growing up, we always had a dog. Yeah. But we no longer have a dog. But they get really screwed up with the time change. They have a certain, they know when it's time to eat. And they have certainly had their body clocks are just unbelievable. They know exactly what it is. So I'm kind of like a dog. My body clock is all screwed up. It's all screwed up. Yeah. And you know when you need to eat. And if it's not that time, well, the start barking and that's just what's going to happen. Yeah, exactly. So tell me how you play this one. Yesterday I went to the nuggets game. Okay. Good buddy of mine plays for the nets. I went to go see him after the game, so went to the game, but he gave me a couple of seats. And I'm sitting down in the seats. And I've got three seats, but there are 5 empty in the row. Tell me how you'd play this. There are three people that come and sit down in two of my three seats. So instantly, I know. Hey, you're not sitting there. Right. But I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm not trying to be like, yo, get out of the seats. Yeah. It's like, all right, well, how long do you play that before you say something? You're like, hey man, you know, I got people on the way, or do you wait for your friends to join you before making them move? Yeah, I would just wait. You'd wait, huh? Yeah. Did you wait? Does it make me a bad guy if I didn't wait? No, no. No, there were a couple seats in front of me. The guy who sat down next to me happened to be hammered. He's just leaning all over me, you know, just race like booth. I'm like, hey, buddy, you know. First of all, they're not your seats anyway. Yeah. And so I said, there's 5 down there, right in front of me. You know, right down there. I haven't seen anybody sit down there. You haven't seen anybody sit down. Yeah, go down there. Yeah. I didn't have anybody coming. Oh yeah, well, that's all right. Yeah. No, no, no, no. It just depends on who's who's sitting next to you. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's just I wasn't in early afternoon game yesterday. It was a one 30 tip off. You're hammered already. I respect no judgment, but just get off me. Just get off me. Just slide back. Yeah, yeah. That's pretty much what Michael Malone told bike reporter junior in the fourth quarter yesterday. I understand, I understand, and I don't know what exactly led to that decision by Michael Malone. Yeah. But obviously something went down that he didn't like. Right. Whether it was body language, attitude, or if he gave him attitude, if he said something, whatever the case may be, one thing about Michael Malone and I know we've got our detractors, the Michael Malone detraction. And there's a lot of there's a lot of people that just don't think that Michael Malone is a coach that's going to get you over the top and do a championship run. So I know that there is that criticism out there. But one thing you can not deny, whether you like Michael Malone or whether you dislike Michael Malone, is Michael Malone has been given authority to coach his team from the guys who matter. From that. And MPJ ain't one of the guys that matter. That's really true, actually. I mean, he's a max contract player, but he's not one of the leaders. He's barely been around. He's not a max contract voice. He has a max contract. He hasn't been able to show up and play. Listen, I understand the back surgeries. I understand all that stuff. But he has not been, he has been one of those guys that has been Michael Malone, and he's praised him a bunch this year, but he's also used him. As he's used him as an example to the rest of the theme, you don't do what you're asked to do. So the guys who have supported Michael Malone, yogic, obviously, obviously you look at Gordon, you look at the big three, if you will. Those guys have allowed him to coach their team. And MPJ may be upset. And he can have the sound he had the sound bites afterwards. I don't know, it's hard to get in the rhythm when you don't get any time in the fourth quarter. All that kind of stuff. I mean, he's raised right though. Yeah, that's the thing. I mean, if you look at his day yesterday, 9 of 12 from the field mark. 9 to 12. In the third quarter, when you can't score, it was the entire team. I actually had to go back and watch it because when I even live seeing the game, I didn't understand why he felt like it was so bad. Yeah, they gave up at 8 point lead at half, but it wasn't like they were getting blown out in the third. That's what happens. Basketball's a game of runs. And this is a guy who in the first half I'm pretty sure I had 17 points. He was lighting it up. You can't give him a pass for a few bad minutes. Like this is one of your young players you're trying to empower. You can't just be like, hey man, let's pick it up. It was like benzene last week with mikko ranton and where he said, look, what am I going to do? Sit him the entire third period. Or am I going to talk to him and turn him loose? And I think you're seeing a situation where I don't know if Michael Malone is pressing the right buttons right now. It's a three game losing streak, ties the longest of the season for the Denver Nuggets as they fell yesterday one 22 to one 20 to the Brooklyn Nets at home coming off the heels of a loss to San Antonio. A little bit of shaky ground right now. A little bit of ground. There is the concern meter has definitely ticked up a notch or two with this team. And listen, I mean, down the stretch and I understand last year down the stretch, the abs had been playing great. They lost 6 to 7. They were just kind of waiting for the playoffs to roll around. I don't feel, I don't feel like this team is in that same thing. Yeah, yeah. It's just not. I mean, the abs took their foot off the gas. That's not what the nuggets are doing. The nuggets are slumping right now. They're not coming out and playing hard enough every night. So we'll get back into it today, free agency tampering period opens in the NFL at 10 a.m. here local time mountain time. "Turn it on. Plus, the we've talked about this playoffs, you get rest, you get like it's like the NBA plows. You get a little grass, you get a travel day, you get all that kind of stuff. And I just hope they've got, I just hope I hope that they can kind of flip the switch a little bit. The only show they can insert certain games. Oh yeah, sure. I have two legit, there's two issues with this team that I do, I have concerns about one, of course the injuries. Who's going to be back, how will they look? By all accounts, the plan is the plan, my buddy Adrian dater, our avalanche, one of our avalanche insiders said the plan in quotes, the plan is to have a gay blander Scott back game one round one. Okay, that's the plan. But we'll see how that goes, but so there's that, of course, but the other one I am, I am anxious to watch Alexander Georgia have coming down the stress. Stretch because he does not have the excuse of, oh, just get me through this long season. He's new to this. This is the first time he's been given the chance to be the guy in goal. So his hunger level should be just fine. And what I do wonder about and I think it does bear watching coming down the stretch. This guy is going to shatter his career personal records for games played in the season. Is he showing with 7 goals allowed against Dallas the other night? 5 last night while four, one's an empty netter. But is he showing some signs of fatigue and is that something the planet you're going to have to really watch coming down the stretch? Welcome to the only two questions I have wouldn't that be the issue that show and science is a fatigue and not being able to get him the proper res because your backup goaltender is out and the guys you put in there true. Poop down their leg nope, that's a fair point. Fair point we'll watch how that unfolds. Second down. Michael Malone and the nuggets. They learned some lessons from their loss to the bulls the other night. Yeah, I mean I were offensive disjointed on my long. I mean, I can't probably count on both hands how many times they actually came down and played our style of basketball, executed, moved the ball, drove, kick. I just felt like there were a lot of zero pass, shots, one pass shots tonight, and that's not who we are. It was just a very out of character game for us on both ends all night long. And I think, you know, when you get down and you're down by double figures, sometimes you're trying to get it all back. Poorly coach game, and I have to help our players play at a much better level than we did. Poorly, coached game. Is that music James Mary last airs? James rarely thinks every gate. They get both team out and still poorly coach game. Oh, yeah. Whenever they win, they win in spite of Michael blond. Chicken little does not like himself, some like him alone. Nope. Third down. Nuggets at San Antonio tonight 12 point favorite over the spurs. Kevin Durant. This is, uh, this is an interesting development. Sons are supposed to be the new boogeyman. But yet he sprained an ankle. By the way, not playing NBA basketball, warming up. He just rolled his ankle. He just rolled over. He showed all the grace and dexterity of me. Yeah. Dude, he was doing like seriously. Not even half speed layups. Right. You know, if I roll my ankle just taking a couple dribbles to my left and going up to lay it up and I roll my ankle, everyone's like, Evans rolled his ankle. Look at him. As Kevin Durant. That's right. Now he's going to be out for likely the rest of the regular season. So he'll have once the playoffs come around. He will have only played a couple of games with Chris Paul Devin Booker and Deandre. And I got to just ask the question, is that jumping into the heat of the playoffs is that enough time to form that cohesion that you got to be able to form when you have four players put together like that? Yeah, how's the ball gets shared? Who's taking the shot? It's just like Michael Malone said about their disjointed offensive possessions and of all just stops one person one pass takes a shot. It's not their normal, it's not their normal rhythm. If you can do that, you can be in the kind of groove they are in, especially at home, 24 and two in their last 26 up until that night against Chicago. If that can happen to you when you're in that kind of rhythm, I mean, of course it's going to affect the rhythm of the Phoenix zones. One, two, three, four down. 64 61.7 seconds to go to invented Stevens, heaves one up. And it misses from 70 feet away. Well, CSU radio right there, they put up a good fight in losing to San Diego state, see you put up a fight against UCLA, but all the front range teams have been eliminated from conference term in play. All their seasons are over. I don't know, maybe see hundreds of see you get an NIT bid. RPI or CPA or whatever. One of those alphabet tournaments, why would you put a chance place more hoops, I guess, but no, thus ends. Thus ends. Arguably, maybe the worst college basketball season collectively among all the division one teams. What do you get when you win an IT term? Shiny trophy? Who cares? Right, who cares? Right. It's like all it is. It's like playing in a bowl game. It's national champion of losers. Well, no, it's like playing in in one of these inconsequential college football bowl games. You get a chance to get another month of practice in. What does it all mean? I don't. It's about it. Yeah, I don't know exactly. Like, one of the swag bags you get when you go to the NIT, you go to the NCAA tournament, right? You get a nice bag, maybe a watch in there. Like some good swag some new tennis shoes, you know, you get a hole, you open up your bag and you're all excited because you got all this new stuff. You go to the NIT, they give you like a paper bag from a grocery store. Inside that paper bag, like two eggs, maybe like a travel sized toothpaste tube. Yeah, yeah, one of them, one of them too, crushes. They cut your gums up that you get from the when you forget your tooth because you can borrow it too. Can I have one of those two? Yes, sir, sir. Little toothpaste, too. You can hardly see it. One of those roll on travel deodorant things that literally has maybe two days to his wife. And then it's gone. Right. And just falls off, it's a little roll of toilet paper. And not the good stuff. No, no, no, single ply. It's like wiping your Bose sandpaper. When it's time to go, it's time to go. The ones that the fancy pants stores that have the handles that are glued on because it makes you feel like, handles, I can grab it by the handles. And you can't put anything in that grocery bag. I just rather have the paper bag that has no handles because it's just basically saying, don't even think about grabbing it. You got to grab this from the bottom. Otherwise you're going to rip. But the handles give you a false sense. Have you found yourself, by the way, is it just me? Is it just me or have you found yourself now that you've got to pay ten cents for a bag? You know, I thought when I brought up the idea that the idea that you have to pay ten cents for bag now is actually kind of fun because it creates a challenge now to see how much you can get in that one bag without a breaking. Right. I thought I'd get a lot of text from people going, yeah, yeah, I feel the same way. Instead, I'm getting, you know, Evan, you could just use a reusable bag and get that all the time. I'm not carrying reusable bags around in my car. Sorry. I refuse to do it. My wife has like 7 of little bags. They're like little boxes. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's like 7 of them in the back of her car. If we ever want to use her car for something, like to actually bring stuff. I got to take them all out. I'm not going to drive around with 6 or 7 of these things in my car. No. I'm just not wired that. Call me lazy. Plus, when I go I'm not the big shopping guy either, right? Or I'm going there to get myself. Yeah, it's the difference between men and women. Honestly, the difference between you tell America what the difference between men and women are. We're all curious to hear your theories on this. Men are selfish and women aren't. So what it comes down to. Yeah, I guess you nailed it. Well, when it comes down, I'll never forget, I was talking to Reggie rivers. Reggie was former Denver Bronco, and sold a lot of books, you know, wrote a bunch of books and Reggie's an incredibly talented guy, super smart guy. I love Reggie. And he was saying, hey, when I go to when I go to these conferences to speak and you're trying to sell your book, so you go to these whatever the men's club is versus the women's club. They have the morning meetings. You go. A 150 guys. And you just throw this unbelievable speech, you know, and you talk about your book and you gotta yada yada, and of the 150, 15 guys will buy books and they buy one book. They buy from themselves. You go to the same kind of women's type of group with all kinds of women there. And the same number of women, everything, you give the exact same speech, you nail it, you kill it, you talk about your book. And 60 women will come and they'll each buy three copies because they're buying it for their daughter and they're buying it for their best friend or they're buying it for their mother, right? Guys, just buy it for themselves. That was interesting. And it's only a handful of guys. Women are just far more like they're far more inclusive. Women are just women think about others more than guys. My guys think about themselves. That's true. That's true. Can't argue with that. That's genius. You are so good. You're so deep. So the bottom line is if you're trying to sell something, you speak to orange. Exactly. Is it just playing a cancel for that? No, that one's okay, because we're okay with that. Very complimentary. Is it just me, Evans, or it's pretty obvious you didn't play any competitive basketball. Durant's twisted ankle is not going to save you. He'll be a practice in walkthroughs. He'll know where his shots are coming from. It's basketball. They've played all their lives and you're making way too much out of this. If you guys hook up with them, it'll still be sons and

"That's part what you're explaining is exactly why it's so hard. Because you are the target. You no longer you no longer the cheat sheet of chasing the gazelle, if you will, you're the gazelle. You're the target and everybody's chasing after you and every night you got to ratchet up your intensity, right? It's easy for the LA kings to ratchet up their intensity against the Colorado avalanche because they're the defending champions. As it is easy for everybody else you play. So even when you play the sharks, they may not be any good, but you're still getting their best intensity, like every night you're gay. So when a team matches or is more intense than you, it's gonna be hard to win those. But yeah, when you guys went back to back here, it wasn't a case where you slept walk through the season barely snuck into the playoffs and then flipped the switch. You guys were dominant throughout. Yes, so how did you summon that kind of intensity every single week? Because we're pissed that we weren't trying to three peat. So you're still carrying around that Jacksonville. Not a day, there was not one day. That went by where that wasn't mentioned. Even as defending champs, even as defending Trump, okay? That that loss was more impactful than that Super Bowl win against Green Bay. Wow. You've never said that before, and all the years we've worked together. That's interesting. Not even close. I mean, I knew it was the impetus for the first one, but you're saying it was even more, felt part of the second one. 100%. Okay, great. Great story. Next on the morning brew. The nuggets. Looking to bounce back. Against the spurs tonight in San Antonio nuggets a healthy 12 point favorite. Jokic's triple-double lifts Nuggets over Grizzlies 113-97

Goodwin did a lot of things that we talked about, keeping them out of transition, keeping out of the paint, and we did a really good job all the way around. So proud of our guys for winning the season series and more importantly, just getting another home went in front of a terrific home crowd. "Nikola Jokić had another triple double and Michael Porter junior scored a team high 25 points in the nuggets, one 15 one O 9 victory at Cleveland. Jokic delivered 24 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists for another MVP type performance. He has 22 triple doubles this season, including 13 in his last 16 games. He impressed head coach Michael Malone. When the MVP goes out and puts up a triple double, that means he's impacting the game at a high level across the board. Evan mobley had a game high 31 points for Cleveland, but with scoreless in the fourth quarter. I'm Dave fairy.

"And LeBron has a pick before Giannis has the last remaining player. And jokic just takes it upon himself to walk over and put himself on team LeBron. Which being coached by Michael Malone probably the best situation for your nuggets fan limit the minutes limit the exposure. But it became a joke right away because the way it was interpreted by those watching NBA all star was jokic just made sure he got up so he wasn't the last pick. And the reality of it was he wasn't paying close enough attention and Lori marketing was so far the opposite side of the stage, he didn't even know he was still up there. Thought he was the last pick. So he thought he was deep by default on LeBron's team and tried to make fun of it and saying, well, I guess it's you and me, buddy and put his arm around him because he thought he was the only guy left. So he picked himself. He thought, yeah, by default, no one picked me. I'm the last one, so I guess I'm on your team. Right? Two time MVP, odds on favorite, heavy favorite to be three times. To be the three time MVP number one seed in the Western Conference, last pick in the All-Star Game. And let's just say it right now. That is a reflection of the All-Star Game. Not jokic. He plays below the rim. The All-Star Game is a shoot around and a dunk contest. He doesn't do those things, particularly well. He passes. He's unselfish. He plays an old school brand of basketball that does not suit the All-Star Game in any way. But out of respect, he should have gone earlier. He's going to be the first three time MVP three straight MVP where it says Larry Bird. I mean, we're watching a first ballot Hall of Famer. Give the man some respect, but it's a reflection chat of the game. As bad as the NFL game got, where they finally resorted to flag football this year for the Pro Bowl, the NBA game is close to that. It's close. It's awful. And here's all you need to know about the All-Star Game itself. They reflection of all star weekend. Who's a bigger star this weekend in Salt Lake? "If anyone's looked it up, but has anyone ever won coach of the year as essentially not the interim because they gave Jacques a contract. So he's not interim. But as the in season replacement and become coach of the year, it's been an impressive turnaround. It's due to a lot of things. We've talked about this, not to diminish anything as Jacques van has done. I think he's been the right voice in the right leader at the right time. But they got healthy. Ben Simmons started to get his game together, not so much recently. Let's see how they do with Durant out for two, three, four weeks, whatever it's going to be. That's going to impact how we view this. And right now, by the way, they're going to without Durant and kairi's been shrinking from the moment. So that's going to impact things. My next ban up on that ballot though, even possibly before Mike Brown might just be Willie green, they have seamlessly incorporated Zion back and as ions out, but bringing Zion in as a guy who had not even played with this group, right? It was almost like he was a new player to that team because they found their footing last season after the McCollum trade and the incorporated McCollum with Ingram. Then they bring in Zion. Now you got a big three, then Ingram's out. Zion's in. Like, a lot of youth on this roster. There's just a lot that Willie green has had to manage with this group. And I think he's done a fantastic job and then just to note this, the coach of the year race is always like 6, 7, 8 deep. Like there's always a bunch of good candidates depending on whether you're pulling from the top tier of teams or that middle tier where somebody's made a leap, all the guys we mentioned are going to be in this race. Missoula, as you mentioned, is in this race. I think Taylor Jenkins is in this race with the grizzlies. I think Michael Malone never gets enough credit for what the nuggets do year in year out, despite always having guys hurt, despite always having to reshuffle the deck despite a franchise star in jokic who you know is not going to be your defensive anchor. And you always have to try to patch things up around him. Like there's a lot of things that Michael Malone has to manage there that he just never gets enough credit for and probably should be on some balance as well. All right, so you would go Jacques Vaughn number one and just ahead of Willie green and Mike Brown, I think if we're doing the typical three man ballot. Okay. Yeah, yeah, look at that, that's a perfectly reasonable one thing. Jack bond's been instrumental to that team's success, settling that locker room, being kind of the respected guy in that locker room.

"And I kind of feel like if they did, we'd all be like, what the hell? Yeah. Like if this was the Knicks, if this was the Lakers, they've got so many guys on that team that are just really, really good players, but not to the level of like, wow, Deandre ayton got in a shouting match with a former coach of the year. It just doesn't get much attention. And I'm not sure why maybe it's because they continue to win. I'll just say on the flip side of that, I think Devin Booker probably deserves more attention for what he's done this season. He does healthy. And I think he's been fantastic and I think that there's like an Internet conversation that lingers around Booker that he's this empty stat sky. He can't be the best guy in a good team. This is his team now. I think the best player on this team for a minute now. Yeah. And Chris Paul has been better over the last, you know, I think shout out to Gerald who covers the sons. Oh God, I'm forgetting his last name. I don't know. I think he did Chris Paul splits and it's small sample size on both ends with his first 11 games he was bad since then he's been good. But I think Booker has been really, really good. And, you know, he's obviously not like adjacent Tatum, but I think he's better than Trae Young. And oh, no question. I don't think he gets talked about as much or recognized as much and he's really taking ownership of that team. We'll definitely be talking more about the sun's in weeks to come. I just wanted to go back to the nuggets defense real quick because I also wrote about that this week. You mentioned they're putting two on the ball with jokic 'cause they want to hedge with him. It's a way to keep him active and engage. And they're just in scramble mode. They should be better with brown, KCP and Gordon. Absolutely. They've been Christian Brown was in the starting lineup against the grizzlies. He had a great game, but you're not starting him over Jamal Murray. You know, you're not starting him over Michael Porter junior. So they're gonna have to figure it out, MPJ, I think, I think he's gonna be back by Christmas. So I'm interested to see how they defend with him. They've been good with him defensively in the lineup, so yeah, I'm with the men, the nuggets, I need to see the defensive improvement. Michael Malone said he wanted to be a top 5 defense. I think he knew that wasn't you, that was wishful thinking, but they should probably do that. Yeah. They should not be this bad. Right. You know, I joked in our group chat the other day. Not joked. I said, if you had to win a title this season, if you'd rather have Joker or LeBron, pina joked that I was drinking too much of the Dwayne Wade wine, but my point was that my point was that we still haven't seen the proof of concept that you could build a championship level defense around Joker.

"Out of here today, there is one more team I'd like to talk about. This is a team, both of us have written about a lot the last couple of years, a team that I also wrote about this week. So I'm just I realize I'm just plugging my stories today. I appreciate it. Go with it. But I reported this story last month. About the Denver Nuggets and I just, I thought the moves they made in the off season, bringing in Bruce Brown, bringing in KCP. We're home run moves. And I was excited to write this piece because they've worked. Like, Casey P is, do you know what is three point percentages? I don't think you'd get no the exact number off the top of your hyper. You want to take a guess. I actually don't know. And I 49.5. I was going to guess like 42, but he is basically doing what herder was doing that we talked about last time. Yeah, wow. He is shooting almost 50% from three, Bruce Brown. Dude, contender should have been lining up to sign Bruce Brown in the summer, and I think teams reached out, but he should have been a priority for teams like the Lakers, the warriors. I mean, you name it. The shooting. Oh my God. No, it's true. You know, everyone thought his three point shooting, he's getting wide open shots. It's a fluke this year. Higher volume over three times a game, still a shooting 40% from three is shooting exactly the same as last year, four versus four O three. Yeah. And I could tell he was excited when I talked to him. He's like, I get to play guard again, you know, he said, he said that to me in October, this week he said, I'm sending a message to a lot of NBA jams that I could play guard. I've already seen chatter, you know, local Denver rider shout out to Mike singer. They're worried they're not gonna keep Bruce Brown past this year. They think he's already outplayed his contract. He is a player option. He has an option. I forgot about that. Oh wow. Good for him. Yeah. I mean, Michael Malone called him a foxhole guy, like they love him. They're starting lineup. This is really where it gets interesting hearing. They're starting lineup out of all lineups that have played a 170 minutes together so far this season. The nuggets starting 5 is the best defensive rating in the NBA. Yep. Of 170 minute of 174 shocking, right? Yeah, the second best net rating overall behind only the warriors starting 5. You know, the defense overall still frankly hasn't been very good. It's good enough with the on the floor. I think part of that has to do with figuring out the right lineups. I think Jamal Murray has been a step slow. I think as he improves their defense is going to improve across multiple lineups, but I was big on these moves. Their second in the west, one game out of first place, I believe their number 7 in net rating, the west is weird when we've talked about them quite a bit, but the top of the west especially still does not make a lot of sense. Where do you where do you feel the nuggets fit into that hierarchy? Do you think this is the joker's best chance to make the finals?

"Like I was worried about the Schroeder about the ball sticking with Schroeder and about like, man, you can't have Ennis in the rotation. It just isn't going to work. These are not things that people didn't see coming. So that's a little tricky for me. I do want to say though, the coaching thing is like it does feel like Charlotte's got this great thing going on with borrego. But this brings me back to like ball movement and passing and players feeling like they're a part of what's going on. I mean, compared to you look up like time of possession stats and like how many dribbles guys take and how long they hold the ball. Like lamelo is a point guard who gets guys great shots and he does not hold the ball. He gets off the ball. And I think like, I think that's a big, we might want to attribute a lot of good vibes to coaching, but I think a lot of times it's about this other stuff. It's like, is Mike Malone as Michael Malone a great vibes coach or is Nikola Jokić like the most fun teammate who's ever existed? Both, because it's Sacramento and Sacramento for some dumb reason. Yeah, there were good vibes there. It just make any sense, but you're right. The players have something to do with the two in lamelo just seems like a top 5 player to play with. He's both lamelo and are fun to sell the play with. They seem like that's the crazy thing about the ball brothers is that despite their dad, you know, obviously being a pain in the ass for a long time, he hasn't been recently. So they're fun to watch. They've always been fun to watch. Lonzo's UCLA teams were super fun to watch. But I'm not gonna lie after the Knicks game..

"Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the NBA front office show crazy night in the NBA last night. We've got a number of news topics to dive into, plus some really fun games that we're gonna talk about today. Keith made late night for me last night when went to OT Lakers. That was a tough one with the Charlotte hornets, but I think the place we really need to start, the biggest story of the night, Denver. Denver and Miami and something that happened with Nikola Jokić. Yeah, absolutely. The nuggets pulled away late in that game handled relatively easily down the stretch, so it's just called what it was. Then late in the game, questionable that maybe jokic and some other guys even should have still been in, but I think just trying to finish off strong. Jokic midcourt, the bane of the MBA's existence, the take follow. But Marquis Moore, stamped it up. He put a little southern extra shoulder elbow into jokic. He was really. It was completely unnecessary. He did not need to do what he did. Eric spoelstra tried to defend it after said maybe it was a little hard. It was nonsense. There's no reason for Morris to do what he did. But there was even less reason for jokic to react the way he did, shoved Morris in the back. It was like a shoulder to handle or something. Yeah, it was one of the hardest hits you're gonna see more to the ground. He probably would attack with somebody in the NFL with that hit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, probably. Ultimately in the end, Morris got ejected because they ruled his follow if later. Two jokic got ejected because they ruled his unsportsmanlike conduct foul, both of them got ejected, guess we'll see today. If there's any discipline handed down, they'll be fines for sure for both of them. My guess is maybe we'll see a suspension here. We don't know that for certain, maybe some are saying maybe one game from horse and a couple games for jokic. You'll catch has no real history of anything like this whereas Morse does. So that will factor into punishments as well. But yeah, not a good look. And for Denver, even a game or two without yogic is tough because they're down to Walmart as we know. They're also down Michael Porter junior now and we talked about that on the last show because he got hurt over the weekend, but Michael Malone before the game said, foreseeable future. Now he kind of back walked that back a little bit by saying, you know, it could be a week. I don't really know what I mean when I say foreseeable future with the reality is don't expect to see Michael Porter junior at any time because he's still undergoing testing and all that on that injured back. So not a good time nuggets on it. So one of their writers describe it as, well, it was a win, but it feels like the most empty win the team has had in a long time..

Nets Bucks Game three Clippers jazz game to following the loss last night. The Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said his team quit. They've had their way with us on both ends of the court. I felt we quit tonight. Which is something you never want to see. Um so I guess for Game three. I'm just gonna try to find guys that well, at least go out there and leave it all on the line. Coach Can you name the names of everybody who quit the entire team Quit? Tell me who didn't quit last night. The worst thing you can ever say about an athlete is you quit. Michael Malone is not Bill Belichick. He's not Phil Jackson. He's not Pat Riley. They got rings. Michael Malone. Don't calling Mike calling out his team. Maybe they respond. Maybe he should understand to the Phoenix Suns are a better team. There are a whole lot healthier than the Nuggets are. Did. The M V P quit last night. Did the Joker quit last night? Or was he the guy who didn't quit? Can't you say this two year team in the locker room? And I know Michael Malone was saying, Hey, you know, include me in this. I don't did Did he quit? How did he quit? Look at what point did you quit coaching? I just don't understand this now. Do I like that? We get all this information. Do I like that? It's full disclosure. Do I like that? They're going to say something in front of the media makes my job easier. But I don't play for the Nuggets. If I played for the Nuggets, I would have been livid with my coach. You want to say something to us? You say something to us as a team. Don't do this through the media. Cause Then I would say coach who quit. Did I quit? How about we aren't as good as the Phoenix Suns. The Suns played extremely well, We don't have our starting backcourt. Chris Paul was wonderful last night. But are you telling me that Michael Porter Jr. Who has a bad back? He quit last night. Did the Joker quit last night? I'm sure they're going to respond. I'm sure they'll play a whole lot better in Game three back home. But don't call that your team and say they quit. Because it starts with you. How did you let him quit? Can't you spin this and make it positive? Where you say, Look, I I love that we had guys out there who were hurt, but we were still playing hard. When we go back home. We're going to regroup here. Do I need to call you out in front of the media to then make me look better by calling you out in front of the media. And it and it felt like you know, it was more of a PR move here. Oh, you know what? I can't. I can't send a message to my team. By talking to my team. I'm going to send a message through the media. Uh, I guess it can work. I guess the players will be like Oh will show him We don't quit. Really? You're just not a better team. The Phoenix Suns are a better team. You might not. You may say Look, we're trying to match them and we can't right now. This is a Phoenix lunch team that a better record than the Nuggets during the regular season. I think we look at the sons and we go all those cuddly sons. So look at them Member the bubble sons. Yeah, and then we saw what happened during the regular season and you're watching what's happening during the postseason. Now do I think if the Lakers were healthy, they would beat the Phoenix Suns. I do, but they weren't Did the Lakers quit that Frank Vogel come out and say, Hey, we quit. Just don't like when coaches do that. And do you see that in the movie? Just talk to your team. Many guys 12 13 guys, come here. We have to understand what's at stake here. Do I have to tell you what's at stake here? Let's let's be in this together. How do I got to make adjustments? Bear with me? We're going to try to counter some of the things that they did. And and we're going to be better in Game three when we go home. And I got to do my job better. Does that resonate a little bit more with your team when you talk to them as grownups instead of going and we quit play the beginning part of that again here with Michael Malone. They've had their way with us on both ends of the court. I felt we quit tonight. Which is something you never want to see. Um so I guess for Game three. I'm just gonna try to find guys that will at least go out there and leave it all on the line. May have a hard time coming up. Okay, so that's Don't know where you're going to find these guys like you. You don't look down the roster and down on the bench and go. Oh, my God. Did you see who showed up? Who's going to play for us? No, You know the roster here. But I didn't like it. I didn't like when I heard it, But Michael Malone knows his team obviously far better than I know the Nuggets. I would just know that in a situation like that, if the coach says publicly we quit. Now the media goes to you and says, Did you quit? Now you've opened the door. I'm allowed to ask you that. Coach said. You quit. Hey, Joker. Did you.

"This is very reminiscent of his childhood idol, Kobe Bryant, The Phoenix shot gun shot a terrific nuggets twice, one thing that I wanted to be here and one team that did not want to be here, and that's why we got elected here. Wow. Yeah. So Nicolay Hokage gets m v p. I'm going to Phoenix y'all, but the sun's going to Phoenix get game to another another performance. Where the sun's look like they are outclassing Denver and their M V. P. And another game where Michael Malone, the head coach of the Nuggets, has some strong words about his team's performance. Remember, yesterday we're talking about how Mike Budenholzer of the Bucks. Seems kind of, uh, Would you say vanilla on his response after his team got smoked by the Nets in Game two, but Michael Malone once again just with with the flamethrower on his team after the game. Take a listen to how he talks about his team showing basically looked like they quit. I saw one team that wanted to be here and play with the purpose and urgency and one scene that did not want to be here and play with no urgency. That's why we got to ask it. Think about that. Will Barton now he came back from injury hadn't played in seven weeks had 10 points 16 minutes. Malone was basically saying he's the only one that showed up. So calling out his team. But like that, huh? Do I like it? I think it's important. Yeah. What's that going to do for you to? Oh, you think you're going back to dinner used to rally the troops? We got defend home court. We'll see what the bucks do tonight. Defend home court exactly to rally the troops. I think you have to say something publicly. I do. I never believe in this whole idea that you'd like to me. If it's in your character, Of course, if that's not who you are, you said this and you're absolutely right. If that's not who you are and elves and you start yelling screen publicly, your players will look like what are you doing? But if that's who he is, he's a fiery coach. But it's always want to know Is that going to all of a sudden slowdown Chris Paul and David Booker in DeAndre Ayton is that all of a sudden going to stop them from the way they feel well, Obviously, they have things they've got to do X's and Oh's bill. Doesn't it matter, though, that all Americans that all American I'm sorry that M V p He's got to do more. Yes, He's got to do more, Of course. And so if that is how you get him motivated to do more the Yeah, it may work, but you still got the other team on the other side was paid to beat you. So when you now got to figure out how to stop them. So it doesn't matter to you or to either of you guys if the coach says anything publicly at all. We know what we did wrong. Uh, but I do. I don't get caught up in. I've never got caught up in a coach saying something, but you've played with guys that that do Bill Parcells is it will say something publicly, but, you know, I already know before you coach walks up to the podium went went wrong from the time. That the clock ticks down to the time I get in the locker room. I already know what he's getting ready to say, so it doesn't really register to me. J may look at it differently. Well, I don't know if this is about players or if it's just about Of course, your team. It's something, you know. It's like hearing raw emotion. Yeah, you know, it's not anything against a measured response or somebody who's way more laid back or has more of a judicious approach to it. Like if that strategy works like Phil Jackson didn't always give you a raw emotional response, But he was blunt. But he was born sometimes, and I like More bluntness. I like that. I will say, though, that I'm looking at composite. So the point guard. He was a rookie like Denver, which Jamal Murray Will be in the NBA finals next year. Really, I will say. Denver with Jamal Murray Healthy Michael Porter Jr. Yokich World Bar, and If you're able to keep this core group together will be in the NBA Finals will be in the India Keep in mind. Klay Thompson Western. It's a Western conference that's gonna just let Warriors team rebuilding. I'm like the Lakers, Bron and number six might have something to say about. I don't know what six don't don't don't know what other movement will happen. Granted, there's a lot of movement, but You guys act like Jamal Murray didn't set the NBA on fire last year in the bottle, right? And so I'm just saying, if I add that to the equation of what this team has with the pieces with Aaron Gordon with the way they play, they have a lot of pieces there defensively to with their depth to be there. They're just there are shell themselves right now, With guys like composed compose. Oh, and Michael Porter Jr. Who was bad last night because his back was injured couldn't play. It was like you were watching your kitchen Will barn Will Barton against the entire Phoenix Suns team and Michael Moore? Calling out the rest of his group about that, So we'll see how they respond to this. But you know, you mentioned it key and it is obviously the, uh such a Key piece of the success of the Phoenix Suns, and that's Chris Paul and what he's been doing. 17 points. 15 assists in 31 minutes. 26 assists and one turnover in the first two games. You miss the most important that last zero turnover. Yeah, that's that's the big part of last night. So it's think about this. So at his age, yes, the impact that he still can have on a team. We saw it wherever he's gone. He was with the Clippers when he got to the Clippers. That the Clippers no longer with the Clippers right that he helped turn that even though they win the championship, that franchise that was the best they've ever been all right, then he goes to Houston. And he helps James Harden get to Western Conference final. They get very, very close. He's got the hamstring injury that he goes to Oklahoma City, which looked like okay, it's over for Chris Paul. He just going to shut it down this young team. He change that culture. He changed the mentality, a certain players, those players, they're talked about his impact of him there. And now he's in Phoenix, and he takes a Phoenix team that had a young core and there are much different team as well. I mean, you know when you think about guys who are culture changes in sports, but he's got to be top of that list. He goes there, and he's already shown you wherever he goes. The culture change the culture changes. Can we think about other players that do that? Okay. See, finished second to last Western Conference this year or the fourth worst team. In the NBA, right? You remove Chris Paul? Yep. You know, And now I look at Phoenix year they went a bit on the bubble, but they don't make the playoffs last year..

"Here's Michael Malone, giving some perspective on Austin Rivers. Couldn't be happy for the kid. You know, I just heard about team. I see. You don't think about this guy was sitting at home for 2.5 months waiting for his phone to rank on. It wasn't ringing. That's to me is just there. Crazy to even think about Austin Rivers is a good player. He's played in 35 10 50 years prior to this 2021 playoffs, and it just worked out for him and us that he's here on. The funny thing is Mike. He scored 16 points in the fourth quarter. Shooting into really big basket. Prior to that, I felt he was turning down open shots. He wasn't shooting the ball, and I said to him through a third time's Austin, let it go. Let it fly. Shoot the ball when you open And eventually, in that fourth quarter, he did, and he made big basket after big basket. I might have some disagreements with Michael balloon when it comes to some of his in game coaching strategies. One thing that you cannot say about Michael Malone is that he doesn't have the backs of his players. And he has the back of a guy that was unemployed for 2.5 months. And saying, I need you to shoot the ball. I trust you. What a remarkable story. Austin Rivers is, but this entire team Last night. FARC who goes 11 8, Nate. It's a guy who's spent the better part of a decade playing in Europe without any cracks at the MBA. He's a 30 year old rookie. Marcus Howard, Jack Harrison. But but let's also understand too. How most of this has been possible. Right because you give a ton of credit to Michael Malone for trusting these guys. You give Lion share of the credit to the players themselves. We're coming through for the Denver Nuggets, but let's understand. That the One of the big reasons why this team Has been successful since Jamal Murray got hurt. This ragtag bunch of guys why they've been successful is because they're led by the king of the misfits. Nicole Yokich. The guy. Who the announcement of him. Getting drafted into the MBA was on The bottom crawl. What, while a case Arida was being pulled apart? On a commercial. Nicole Yokich is the embodiment of what this team is right now. And what he has turned himself into. And we talk about players. That are able to get the most out of the guys around them. Chris Paul is somebody this year that we've looked at and said, You know this guy what he's done in Phoenix what he did, and Away what he did in Oklahoma City. This is a guy that comes in and is able to help get the most out of the guys around him. Cole. Yokich is absolutely in that conversation as well. Because as much as we love Fuck, who come Pazos and Austin Rivers and Marcus Howard and Shack, Harrison.

But last night Nuggets go down to the Trail Blazers, and it wasn't even close to this gust and the talk about the serious and Maura on the MBA. Chris Dempsey is the Nuggets reporter and analyst for Altitude sports. You can follow him on Twitter. It's at Chris A. Dempsey and he joins us right now, Chris, what's going on, man? Not much. How much beautiful day in Colorado Nuggets definitely have some work to do. So, what happened last night? How would you? How would you? How would you wrap it up in a in a short minute on what happened with the with the Blazers, More less looking like they got an easy win. Yeah, There's no doubt about it. I would say this for Portland. Um, you know, defensively, they had a plan that they executed just just, uh to an elite level against the coal Yokich, Um and the Denver Nuggets, and that would really was just to make him a one dimensional make him a scorer. Not the score that now play makes for his teammates as well on and then I think offensively yours, there's no way you could tell me that they've had five games this season, sharing the basketball than what they did last night. 29 assists. The Nuggets were in constant rotation could not catch up after that, the third to fourth task swing pass, and then there are wide open threes all night long and Portland made 19 of them so You know on both ends of the balls. The Portland had a specific game plan that they carried out to A T on the Nuggets now are really forced to make some adjustments. To be able to turn the tide back. Turn that swing that pendulum back in their direction. No, and you mentioned it, and I don't wanna call Mike Malone so I know we didn't like to be called Mike Michael Malone, the head coach of the Nuggets. Now in in a seven game series and playoff basketball. You got to make an adjustment. So what adjustment can Michael Malone make tea? Oh, help you catch up. Yeah, I think there's a lot of them. And you know, one of them, I think is getting him in the middle of the floor a little bit more, and he he worked generally at the angle. Um, in long post out the his post catches were kind of more toward the three point line, more sore more than they were closer to the block. And so we just they were just a lot of instances of Long drawn out back down on on post ups and on but really gave you such a Turkish and in his cantor room, tol make a mistake, maybe even early in a post up and still recover and be able to get a good contest on a shot. Or just just body him up if he really physical with him throughout the entire process, which then I thought took its toll over time. And so I mean, you know, you'll get 27 shots. Hidden 17 of them were jump shot 17. And so you know that Z telling me that Portland has done a really nice job of Keeping him far enough away from the basket, where he's compelled to shoot a jumper. Um, you know, outside of the outside of the instances where he would shoot a three pointer anyway, so it Z. I think there's a number of things that they could do to help. On the call it okay, just playing a little bit more space, play with a little bit more downhill and then catch the ball closer to the basket from now, a move or two, a quick mover to get some right where he wants to be. How much that last night? You okay? It's only having one assist. How much of that is guys? Just not making shots. I know that. I think I saw us that we're on his on his passes the field goal percentage of one and 10. One out of 10 shots and is the other part of that because he wasn't he wasn't down on the post. He likes to facilitate when he's down low, kicking it out. Right? I mean, you know, so both are true. Yeah, the Nuggets missed shots around him. There's no doubt about that. But the fact that it's on Lee it was only 10 attempts on Lee 10 should also tell you At Portland was doing a nice job of just state, the state home on on all the other cutters, because what you don't want where the Nuggets offense really picks other teams apart is in their movement around the cola, Yokich. And so if you are going to commit yourself to, you know, riding through writing all the club all the cutters do the lane, not allowing any of that stuff to happen around Yokich. Now you're basically putting him on in the island and saying All right, well, now you now you beat us tonight, which he still put 30 on the board. He's just that great a player, but But what It does mean is that He's not being able to affect that was the game both ways and so they're gonna have to move. I think better around him. Also this I think the Nuggets are gonna have to find ways to create double team situation to make Portland Have to devote more defensive resource is to the ball handler. Portland was almost never in rotation last night and that if you're going to play five on five against a defense the majority of the night You're giving that team its best chance to be successful. So the Nuggets are gonna have to create mismatches. They're gonna have to collapse the defense. They're gonna have to get Portland and rotation on doing much better job. That in Game two than they were able to win Game one in Jamal Murray is it is a huge loss for the Nuggets. How How is Aaron Gordon Been since being acquired from Orlando? Has he been better than expected? And is he good enough to be your third scoring option on this team? The wind Yeah, You know, I think you're gonna have to be and he can have a decent game last night 16 points and eight rebounds for Aaron Gordon. And that's pretty much the space that I think he needs to live in, or he's gonna have to live in for the Nuggets, too, if they're going to be successful in this series Me. Those are the numbers. He's gonna have to put up pretty much every night and defensively. He's just really been the real deal for them. I mean, he is. I've been very, very good. He's allowed them to be more of a switching team on the perimeter because he can guard so many different positions. Even he can guard even post players. He's a strong individuals. Well, so defensively, he really has helped the Nuggets raised their defensive profile over over time over the course of the season. I'm offensively It's been a little bit different. I think he didn't want to come in and And impound the basketball and take all the shots and and play. You know, selfish basketball, so he actually asked a lot and got his scoring through cuts and threw off into rebounding and through transition opportunities. But I think as time has gone on the negative on and he's been able to practice with them, especially in that way. Got that they had you know they could Run some stuff specifically to get him the ball and get him attempts at the rim on so I think that just the marriage of the two is that was where he's gonna have to live here in the playoffs, but 16 points. Rebounds is a pretty good place to start. And I think the nugget will take that every night. Yeah, it's not bad. Chris Dempsey and Nuggets reporter analyst for Altitude Sports. All right, So are you. You're feeling good about the Nuggets rebounding here. It's only seven games. Syria's You know that that first game Ah, lot of times for the underdog is the game that they can come in. And they can grab. Maybe that you know the Nuggets were playing flat or anything like that is this. It is just a serious more of a problem than you originally thought..

"Another turnover. Murray off the pick and roll, tried to drive and dump on the rim and escorts outta bounds. Yeah. LeBron to the foul line bounces behind the biggest Saul straightaway wide open three. No good. Yoko chairs the rebound. Nikola will bring it up himself. 60 to 53. Denver on top, still, amazingly, by seven. That would have been a time out that kind down. I think Sean Michael Malone would have been upset. Come on, guys. Let him play too many whistles. Handshake called here on shrewder. On the switch out the screen. Sideline in my left side for your kitchen, the Nuggets in the Middle seven of the top of the art, not a pardon. Quick, darting past into a slashing Yokich catching a score going left to right. Yokich is he scoots by Gasol? Maybe they'll get the big guy going. Later. Pick and play here. Liz Davis Davis rises, and it's a free throw line jumper. Maybe that'll get number three going. He has six and it's 62 to 55. Gets back. We're going. Well, the Lakers are much more engaged on the offensive end in the last two possessions. Nuggets' Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray lead improved energetic effort to beat Clippers in Game 2
"Yesterday the nuggets lead. wire-to-wire top the clippers tie the series at one game apiece a little surprising sure I mean they got off to a huge lead and held onto the victory lead biggest takeaway from the nuggets game two victory over lic. So many positives take of this from Denver they jump. The clippers gave him the off punch in the mouth from the start, which is to say it was led by their styles, Jamal and nickel Yokich. They got lots of contributions from other guys as well. MILLSAP I thought was good in this game. Gary. Harris Marco Porter Jr. coming off the bench gays in the middle of a lift as well and even rant. Jeremy Grant was their defense I thought was exceptional. There was a several times where the clippers were in the pint and there was two or three Denver Nuggets, contesting shot blocking shots, and really making the clippers feel them in the paint, which is important. But the biggest takeaway for me is we knew the clippers we're GONNA come back. This is a twenty point late in the first half and it. was like in the NBA that never lost especially in the playoffs. The biggest question for me would the nuggets be able to hold onto this game and win it, and there was a crucial moment that minutes ago in the fourth quarter I think it was Po Georgia to three brought to a five point game and that was the sliding doors moment of the game. What would the nuggets through from? And began to our and just show that that first quarter net hop surge was nothing more than like. All right. We don't get swept all would they actually be able to maintain what they've played up to for that point and they did they came out and hit three threes after that and basically stretch the game out and Kinda sealed it from there. You know like it was sort of sent the message that the clippers like we're. Not going away and and again, it wasn't just Murray and Yokich was other guy is contributing and so to me it did sort of say, Oh, I, picked I, think the clippers to win this five. But after watching that performance in the way that they won that wire to wire, I'm a little more now convinced that the the the nuggets can make this series and an an a longer series I still think clip is ultimately win it. But if it goes six or seven, now, I wouldn't be surprised because I just thought that the Denver Nuggets after Guy Wander the first quarter they thought it off well, and then they just Kinda sunk from there and Michael Malone said we need to have better energy for the entire game and they absolutely did last night. So very impressive performance from everyone yokich again was great and so is Mary but really important that those other. Guys contribute and make this more than just a sort of a like a like a run in that first quarter just to get just to get system, they actually sustain that the entire game. So that's what I thought was most important for the nuggets at the something there that they can build on going forward in this

Michael Malone -- Shame on NBA for not allowing coaches' families in bubble
"Nuggets coach Mike Malone went after the NBA, on Friday, calling their policy of not allowing coaches to bring family into the bubble quo criminal in nature. So you're speaking to reporters ahead of game two and Malone answered a different question about the bubble by saying, he needed to get something off of his chest. So let's play the clip is day number sixty and and the reason I bring that up is because The players have their families here, which which they deserve, which is the right thing to do. Referees are allowed to being one guest, which is great for the referees. The coaches, the coaches are not allowed to bring anybody. I say shame on you NBA. This is crazy. I. Miss My family and I think I speak for me speak for my coaches and probably all the coaches down here sixty days and not having access and not being granted the privileged to have my family come here to me is criminal in nature and that shouldn't be Jin at all so I want to get that off my chest. So. Nuggets coach Mike Malone very upset there I know some other coaches sort of a you know had his back with these comments. Tasks way. What do you think is Malone overreacting is fair. What's your opinion? Well, let's just clear this scenario here just to make sure everybody's got it. Straight the players didn't have their families until this round either so they went. Fifty fifty five sixty days without seeing their families either and thinking back. I. It's Kinda surprising that they didn't demand that from the beginning or or at least a lot earlier right. So other twenty, two teams that came down there. Now, there's only eight fourteen of the teams didn't see their families whatsoever but now to to Michael Malone's part of it because it is surprising that. The players are allowed. So about fifteen of the thirty five people that come with each organization, the fifteen players get their families to come with them but the other twenty don't, and that's surprising a really surprising that I I didn't know the referee ruled that the refusal. To know that at all, I'm not sure win that took place if if that was from the beginning or what, but it would make sense for the coaches to have somebody a significant other possibly there are there are probably they're older as well most of these coaches. So a lot of them probably don't have little kids that would wanna be down the bubble, but significant other would make sense and and I'm just surprised looking back. We didn't go. We talked about the hundred and thirty five page manual over and over and over again in the months of April and May and June while this was happening. And all the rules and know we weren't really up in arms about it because we know it's a players league and they get first crack at everything about looking back. Yeah. It would be make sense not just for the coaches and the party to have somebody there but the players as well from the beginning and. I don't I'm not I'm not gonna get nickel and dime in think this hotel room is gonNa cost much I. Know It's costing the the NBA A lot, but they can afford to put up. Or even. An older these coaches are older may not even cost them another hotel room they could just be in the same hotel. Now I'm nickel and diming make sense that have their families there at least. One or two people they don't have to have a cousin Joe and cousin bill come on but at least their their their nuclear core family. That would that would make sense. So I'm with I Echo I echo coach Michael Malone. Salon couple months, but they probably should have had it for the whole time and not even now? Well, no, you can't say I don't think we can say they everybody should have had it from the whole from the jump from the start because we let's try and remember like months ago how insane like this ideal even was and whether it was even going to work and we were pretty convinced the more people you try to add into the bubble, the less likely it is going to be successful. So that meets sense like I'm sorry guys you are going to be away from your. Family's players included I. Think we're the frustration is coming from with the coaches and I think rightfully is it sounded like the NBA at the time when they're making the manual going through all the logistics and say, okay, well, the players like you know if they're here the playoffs, they can bring people down coaches. We don't WanNa lock that in right now because we're not convinced this whole experiments going to work this whole campus things going to work, but we will revisit it. That's what it sounded like they sort of said to them they didn't say no, you never see your family again. You want coach come down here and your coaching. It sounded like, yeah, that might be a possibility. We'll put that on the side burner and then we'll revisit that and now we're at the point to revisiting it and they have decided that they're not going to do it and it sort of probably you're a coach down there going look this is working. This is a safe you know why can't we now the coaches that remain here with now opening up of rooms and stuff like that I think. That's a fair like frustration if I was a coach.

NBA: Nuggets' Jamal Murray drops 48 on Celtics
"Talked about it last night. Speaking of which Mr. Murray had nineteen points in the fourth quarter as they beat the Celtics. I tell you nineteen points in the fourth because he ended up with a career high forty eight to end the game nuggets. Head coach Michael Malone on Dubov Murray's ever into a big basket the whole night throughout the game. And even when they tried to turn out the pressure. He found ways to get to the rim. He hit some incredibly difficult shots, but he was in his own side nuggets.
