Chicago White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech Files for Divorce from Pregnant Riverdale Star Vanessa Morgan
"White Sox pitcher Michael Cho Pak filed for divorce from his wife, Vanessa Morgan, after just five months of marriage. Kopeck filed for divorce in Texas, I guess earlier in Ju and the news of the divorce comes after the Riverdale actress revealed that she is pregnant with the couple's first baby. Morgan and Kovac got married in January in Florida. After getting engaged in July of last year, So yeah, I mean, just on Friday, she announced that she was pregnant. I gotta wonder away they they announced the break up three days after she announced that she was pregnant. And he's filing for divorce. Yes. Filed off Now she announcing she was pregnant. Then That means he probably would have known for a while. He knew. Yeah, I was wondering, you know, what I was wondering is, if this is one of those situations where she goes, I'm pregnant, and he's like And it's not yours by the way, and then they break up. But if she's announcing publicly, she's pregnant, and she's probably 12 plus weeks write which made yeah, if she's following, you know the standard, so you know, and then he's divorcing her anyway, unless, of course, she was like, by the way, it's still isn't yours. I wanted like I wonder, E mean, they were only married five months. That's pretty fast and especially her being pregnant. It seems like something must have gone down there right now. Maybe he chose to do because, like she's pregnant and he's playing baseball, maybe he chose Baseball over your family, But I don't need to put this on. I don't mean to imply that she did something wrong. I don't know. It just seems fishy. I would hate to believe that a guy he did something wrong. Maybe he did. Maybe he did something wrong. I mean, you know, without question, the chain

"There's no way you can tell me that our team isn't the best sports analytic team around you. Just you just can't tell me that because we can pay more we. That's who we get our guys from. We steal all these guys. We still want to great young up and coming dodgers analysts. We took him because we liked him. We can take all the best guys. All these teams and they're, they work for us. Now that's why we're able to do it. We can do. And that's why teams have noticed this. I mean to soccer federation's try to hire us multimillion dollar contracts, advanced Allegra soccer team to NBA teams to NBA teams contact anything. I want to get rid of my entire events intellect department. I want you guys the back office on a multimillion dollar deal year situation. I mean, the sports world knows because they know the people that we've hired and they know where they come from. And so that's that's the difference. And that's why we were in my estimation, that's that's not my estimates what I know. That's why we were able to figure it out. Our team was at least in and I think that we have access to more video than than teams do. Frankly, it's not about being around pitchers. Now that doesn't matter. It's about you have to test it based on pitchers in the past. Obviously, with with the injury model, I have a lot of proprietary because this is something that you're you're trying to license. You're trying to sell. You don't wanna give away the game, but one of the things that you you have this again, we'll just keep citing the Jack Dickey article. But you've said that you have based on your own researchers found that there does not seem to be much of any link at all between pitching philosophy and injury risk. Now, it's one thing to say that and find that results in it's it's quite another to explain it scientifically because intuitively, it doesn't seem like it should make sense. So if you could offer at least a, this is where you were wrong. I can imagine. You bring up Alex Rae s Michael kopech. It's easy to just say, well, actually, kopech as we had kopech as being pretty clean. You're wrong on him by the way. So if you could, I imagine when you you find a result like that and you will, how do we explain this? So how? How would we at least if you have theory? No, I, first of all, let me start by saying I can just tell you what it is. I don't have. I don't have. I can't tell you mathematically with certainty of Wyatt is I can just tell you what it is. I have theories as to why it is mine went there. Make sense to me is is first of all, it's the type of player that's getting hurt. If you look at Tommy John injuries, over course of years, it's actually going down yet the law she's going up. So it's really hard statistics people understand 'cause correlation. So I could say, I could say to you, listen in the last ten years pitching innings has gone down. So if you pitch less, you're more likely to get hurt. That's Bs. We all know that. Right, so, but that's the same thing over time. Veloce gone up in injuries gone up, so that's has to be what it is because it makes intuitive sense. But those are people. That aren't really thinking about the actual problem. And here's why. So if what you're saying is true, that velocity matters. Okay. Then what you also have to be saying is that pitchers ten years ago, twenty years ago k. they're not trying to throw as hard as they could. So every what I'm saying, what I know for shore in being a player in being around pitchers is at every pitcher since I've been playing has tried to throw every pitch is pretty much hard as they can. No one sitting there for entire game to throw ninety percent the whole game k. you're trying to get out someone's trying to take your money on the other side of it, right? You were gonna throw his heart as you possibly can. So you're causing the same amount of stress if someone's match. Lasi is eighty miles an hour. You're causing the same amount of stresses somebody's match Las. He's a hundred miles an hour. We had aroldis Chapman throws one hundred six miles an hour before anybody else did as a very, very clean delivery. So velocity mattered..

"We knew that they were going to be setbacks. Whether it's dude injury or underperformance, and then we going to have to be prepared have enough depth and insulate ourselves enough either internally or via trade and free agency to be able to withstand some of this stuff. All right. It's not about one guy. And it's obviously Michael kopech is a key guy in the system, but draw so talking about Lucas Julia talk about Dylan's seized. You're talking about Rinaldo Lopez. They'll a long list of guys who knows what Dane is going to be. And you know, it's a huge blow at the same time all of it. Well, you know, what's what's horrible about? It is he literally just got up here. I mean, he just got up here. And he was as good as promised, and you know, he dealt with rain all three of his guaranteed rate field starts. You know, he had to deal with rain delayed. And it looked like he was too good to be true. And it's just a shame. This would happen so quickly in his career. But. You know, I'm I'm always a guy who shot glasses half-full Karm. And if you're going to have something like that happen to you get out of the way now and be ready in twenty twenty when the band is being put together. Well, it is a lot better. If if you are saying that he's this is going to happen. If it had happened in spring training next year, let's say the White Sox hadn't brought them up. And eventually, you know, this was something that was going to be in the future of Michael coping. Well, if it happens in spring training that six months of rehab, six months recovery that you wouldn't be getting. So that's you know, we're looking for positives. That's one another positive that. You can look at is. Just start naming basically the who's who of who's been successful in the big leagues. Ziva strasbourg. Jacob decribe Darvish. Yes. Jacob degrom. Jacob degrom is going to win the Cy Young in the National League. Playing on one of the worst teams in baseball. And he is just breathtaking on the mound in he went through it. As you can go go back to your list. Okay. You want me to add on? I I know here g Alito has had the surgery, I know Dylan ceases had the surgery. Jake TV's had it. Tons of guys. Right. And so look. I was going through. Michael Pineda, Adam Wade, right? Carlos carrasco. Johnny Cueto Yu Darvish. It's a it's a long long list. Yes. The bad name to throw out the house thing you Darvish probably her. He had well he had he had his he had. That's the that's the thing. He he may come back and have a really long career. He may come back at you know, five years where he's back at it. You'll always be worried that like with any pitcher that it's going to crop back up. Again. We're you the elbow will bother him again oral turn into a shoulder. That's but that's the reality of any pitcher really in the big leagues. It's it's it's terrible it happened. But even though you missed a whole year, you do come back from it. Yeah. So here let's see here a little bit more from Rick from. Yesterday, when he was addressing again, nobody knew this was coming media's here. Standard Friday playing the angels. And you're expecting to talk to Ricky Renteria here, walks recon. So what is the actual diagnosis? What is the plan the preliminary recommendation is for Michael to undergo Tommy John surgery? There will be a second opinion coming in the coming days. So there we are still going to hold out a little bit of hope that perhaps there's a different prognosis, but we are certainly preparing for him to not only missed the remainder of the two thousand eighteen season. But also missed the twenty nine thousand nine season. And when exactly did the White Sox know that there was a problem nothing that he reported nothing. An injury reports. Nothing was his delivery nothing with any of the. Analytics of his mechanics nothing until yesterday. When he rightfully shared with us that you know, he just didn't feel quite right getting loose during that start against Detroit. And obviously you guys saw the start the villa was a little bit down. Yup. The view of velocity for those that hip to the term. So look he had been feeling stuff as we can hear from kopech here. He no he was noticed accepting. But he really just didn't think that there was a problem. I just kind.

I'm I thought we find I I really do think the somewhere John Jonathan's bummed out on his birthday because of the news. I'm Michael Kolpak has the White Sox pitching prospect likely to have Tommy John surgery Attaran, the UC L, and what better gotta to talk to about it, Dan, Ryan McAfee from NBC sports Chicago Ryan, thanks for joining us on a rough day. What were your original your initial thoughts? When you heard the news. You know, it's one of the things that it's a joke. And obviously, I just I really have anything. I felt nothing. I just was dumb, and it sucks. That's really the only way, you know, as the last hour and a half two hours of gone by it, just suck. It really. Does it too bad? The momentum. The White Sox have had the team, but the pitching staff the fan base. This has been a nice cookies so to speak the last couple of weeks and have the punch right before you know, as we come down the stretch here to finish the season. It's pretty devastating loss. Right. I know you've covered kopech through the minors. And you've gotten a chance to be around him quite a bit over the last couple of months. What do you think his mindset to attack the rehab and go through this whole process will be as as we head toward the hordes at now with the latest news. Well, I'll say this in the past. I don't I honestly have never met a more mentally strong. Player especially baseball player because it's such a mental game. And might be you know, you might need to be mentally than physically and he's both. And you know, he just has this perspective of a guy that's been in the league for a long time. And so I I'm sure right now that you know, it's a mental hurdle today is a bad day, even the most nicely. Strong person is going to have a rough spot or rough day, but you know. Think in terms of a guy that's going to be able to attack this rehab, and and and kind of conquer everything you need to get back and recount and set it media availibility. It's Michael kopech. I think he's the right guy that you'd want to go through something like this, even though you know, devastating just on the surface. But I don't think there's any doubt that he is capable of anyone ever got through this to to rebound. You the physical part with him, and and the mental part. And you know, you guys I was listening to you guys. I mean, it's not an uncommon deal. So the best pitcher in the game have gone through this. And yes, it's on the surface. And for twenty nineteen not having him on the team is. You know, it's going to be tough. But at the same time he's gonna come back and twenty twenty when the team is certainly ready to win and and be a part of it again. And there are so many success stories of guys who have had time each. I mean look at Bill. You just one minor league pitcher of the year for MLB pipeline. He had Tommy John surgery. And it was phenomenal shared Luca Cielito. He's had Tommy John surgery. There's guys on the staff that have already had it. So he's gonna have plenty of people to, you know, run some stuff by you through this stuff. I know that when he was coming up when Culpepper was coming up and after the White Sox acquired him in coming up. The last thing a pitcher usually thinks about is Tommy John surgery and having have Tommy John surgery. But what are the things I was talking about earlier last hour or earlier this hour was you don't see many pitcher's throwing one hundred one hundred and two hundred and three miles an hour that don't end up having to have Tommy John surgery. Do you think somewhere it was in the back of his head that this was definitely a possibility? Wait did talk. He talked about preparing himself trying to prepare himself. Oh, it's like, you know, what I mean? He actually hasn't even haven't even. Happened to him yet. And so, yeah, I mean, I'd say, absolutely. It was in the back of my probably because it just seems. A weird way. It almost feels like an ACL injury and football. You know, I'm sure this week after Sunday, we're going to get alerts about twenty players that just blew out there or out for the year, and they'll come back next year big better than ever. I know it's a completely different injury. But that's the cop. I feel with pitchers lawyer out Alba's and going through Tommy John and football players ATF. It just it just almost seems like, you know, twenty years ago your career is over. And now these guys are coming back better than ever. But yeah, I mean, the fact that he referenced it, but the training he does. And they try to kind of get out ahead of it. Clearly, you know, it's one of those things that. In the back of his mind somewhere. I don't think he spent you know, lost any sleep over it. But I think it's helped any thought about that's a good comparison to the ACL Ryan since you were listening earlier, I mentioned that maybe there is some kind of silver lining in this that you're not wasting pitches in innings on a year. That doesn't really matter. What do you think of that type of concept that the fact that twenty nine thousand nine the socks aren't going to compete the stress of pitching that whole season won't really affect kopech in the future. He comes back in twenty twenty. And hopefully, he's the picture that we saw when I came up here. Yeah. I mean, I heard you say that I kind of buying it a little bit. But then there's part of me that thinks, you know, he's probably going to be on any when he comes back in twenty twenty. And I think the goal is to probably get around one fifty this year and then get him into the one seventy five next year. And so he's around two hundred and twenty twenty and now you're probably looking at like one fifty to one seventy five and twenty twenty. Oh. About like, you know. Pictures only have so many boards so to speak, and then why not save them for when you're ready? But you know, you can make the argument to that. He's got he would have been built up kind of the way you would want him to be time to win too. So I think. By a little bit of like. A little bit of the other half to because there's a valid points in both. It's been a rough rough year. Ryan four White Sox minor-league guys. I mean it started. You know, Zach birdie had problems he's he's hopefully out his way back with the Tommy John you mentioned season g Alito is kind of like, it's almost like a badge of honor. At this point for some of these pitchers is you're gonna it's gonna come. You may as well. Get it out of the way Chris had asked me the question. What are your thoughts is a better to have it come when you know, right before you get to the big leagues, or as you get there as opposed you pitch a couple years, and then going it really doesn't matter. It's Tommy John. You'd never really wanted to happen. Good question. I would say I if we were gonna sit there and go, okay. It's up point Michael kopecks gonna have you know, you blow out any Tommy John. I would pick our take twenty eighteen because of what Christmas eight earlier. What we want to happen is in twenty twenty one. Kolpak blows out the whole team that's built to win. It all the prospects are here and there's veterans and their free agents. Yeah. I guess there's some validity to the point that if you're if there was ever a time what's do doing? Now. Go through when the team is still, you know, trending upwards, but not quite there. And so when they are ready to be there, he'll be healthy again and ready to go. So yeah, I think you certainly I feel he's younger so respond a lot better than it would be us twenty seven twenty eight so. I think if there were kind of weird to say like, yeah, we had to pick a time to be injured. This would be the time. But I I mean, I think that that would be true in this case, go pack. I don't know if we're talking about. I mean, certainly watching the last couple of star. And I mean, it was really jumping off the page, especially the other night when he was throwing if you looked at that fourth any, and you know, there's a lot of ninety two ninety three in there and they're fast balls. And if you look at the location, everything everything that got hit with it just like, it was clearly uncharacteristic, Michael kopech. I mean guys up that night. But it just there's a lot that he really hasn't been there from the start even even if you go back to debut, he's hitting ninety seven ninety eight a few times, but you know, everyone staring at that radar gun for but one zero one one or two it just it never happened. And it just continues to go down over the last four star and part of it. Thinking like, you know, he didn't have a certain date or start that he thought minded clearly this feeling stories throughout and not this is something had happened months ago and just eventually was going to rupture if he continued to pitch and the fact that he was able to go out still throw ninety to ninety three with a torn UCLA tells you about his paint, collar and talent. Yeah. There's no doubt has has Chuck already told you when the next White Sox talk podcast is going to be recorded up. I think they actually might be one best like literally going out at. On this the emergency tired. Yeah. I know Chuck and Vinnie Dubar we're out at the park tonight for her all the kopech madness. And there will be a podcast out. If it's not already that has all of the Michael kopech reaction, although Mike reconnaissance and then reaction to it from the ballpark. So there will be a podcast. Make sure you check it out if you haven't heard, but Michael kopech attempt today. Yeah. I know it's great stuff. Right. We appreciate it as always. Well, next time we talked to hopefully, you'll be under better circumstances. Man. I I was excited about the bears game. But I'm just trying to play cleaned out. Just like, let's go football. I'd say this has been this has been a rough start to the weekend. Yeah. There's no doubt about it. Thanks a lot. Ryan. All right, guys. Ryan Mugabe from NBC sports, Chicago. And yeah, there's no doubt White Sox fans. We're getting excited. I mean, you're getting excited when you see guy like Michael Kolpak, come up a lot of people were saying, you know, you gotta bring about gotta bring up. Now, I mean RG kind of happy now that he wasn't up that did something would have happened to him too. But I mean, it's it's kind of like good. He he let him rest. Let him just stay where he's at. I know the odds are it's funny that we say, I was just gonna say. The odds are that the young guys not going to get Tommy John. But that's what Torres was out when he slid in a second base and ended up having to have Tommy John surgery. So it does happen to other players besides pitchers, but it's those are rare occasions, but yeah, for White Sox fans, I've got tickets now wanted to go to a.

Can I call it? Twenty second time out to share a moment of pain. Might regret this. But okay. My man Michael kopech throwing one hundred and five miles an hour called up as part of the bright future of the rebuilding white socks. And I guess twenty two years of age first couple starts. Nobody's stiffed him electric throwing one hundred the long flowing blond hair. Twenty two year old Texas farm boy looking phenomenal. I can't the White Sox have nice things rod because the White Sox. Can I take a guess as to what what troubles you and ails him? Have something to do with the question. I asked you when you mentioned like a Kobe before he made his first start you told me right throws a baseball one hundred ninety miles could be off. And I wondered if if a man's ligaments could put up with that. Does he need that TJ surgery, Michael kopech tear and his UCLA needs. Tommy, John surgery. Listen, I love watching guys based business. The human body's not designed to do that. Ain't right. Going to go. You can't do it. Okay. Do cancel baseball consistently one hundred one hundred two miles an hour and have a long career out any oboe prop. So here's what I'm going to tell you was that. So he threw one zero five just elbow ligament. They'd take a ligament and tie that sucker in there. I don't I don't think the thirty five they're going to harvest that right from his thigh and it around his elbow. Here we go baby. Kinesiology is that is that the study of of the Hitchhiker's knees and toes? Yeah. I don't think I'm thinking to do that. So. For the. And we do have as they brought Michael kopech in and he was evaluated by the medical people. We have audio. Yeah. We do. Let's just happened in the White Sox front office. Timothy, would you you. Your call. That same aggressive and unnecessarily. And sometimes you get bad medical news. This the doctor's fault. Why can't we have nice things because you're the why? I thought we already discussed that can I 'cause it's Friday, and we're being sillier IM. Anyway, my man Jose Abreu who's been like the rock of consistent thirty Jack's hundred RBI is how good where he looking at giants uniform. Well, you know, what surgery he went out with? Testicular surgery or they send in a joke about. No, no. But. I mean, I feel like I need to stick your surgery after finding out the kopech news. Jose Abreu had to have it. I can't win. And guess what that's going to continue. If you're not going to win our football picks out will reclaim the lead. And now we'll go on to be dominant in our contest as I have over these many many years. We've we've done these picks. But you know, you got lucky you went to one last. I did I went one and two, but I already have a loss. You had the hammer you already have loss. Let's let's do college for the student college. And you still I'd want me to go. I still get to go first. So it'd be the last time, but you still get the three college three pro rata, and I must select the game involving our alma maters LSU. And Notre Dame fit is a game. You can take. Yeah. People think oh, we have to pick Notre Dame or no we don't we can pick. It's for the spread. We can pick against our team. Rod could take south eastern Louisiana institute for the criminally insane. And I can't it's like the board. Okay. But that's so I will start with. Eastern michigan. Yes. The EMAS getting seventeen against Purdue Tyler Wijers their quarterback was a transient Iowa. But think about this for betting betting news for eastern Michigan. As an away dog. They're eleven in one against the number in their last twelve away dog situations did not know that and her getting seventeen so give eastern Michigan plus seventeen against Purdue change quarterbacks last week in the middle of the game against northwestern. Some people say Purdue other say don't there you go so eastern Michigan be my first couch. You would just went through your next hurt. When a play game at seven thirty Pacific. That means they're starting at ten thirty at night eastern. So team is coming from the eastern time zone. Given the length of college games. They're gonna be finished thinking about two in the morning. I'm not kidding. It's funny, and I don't think many athletes gear themselves up for two AM performances. So it depends on the performance. If you got it. Arizona state getting five against Michigan state five and two is a home dog in the last three years. They've beaten at home UCLA, Arizona, Oregon and Washington you play to win the game. But just cover the the strategy fine. Give me Arizona state plus five she got it mine and then the ball state ballers fan here. They come in the south bend ball state is within Indiana can't even say with a straight face. That's our body bag game. Thank god. Coming after the Michigan game. Notre Dame is given thirty four and a half thirty five. I go the other way thirty four and a half. Gimme the I've taken home in blow out. So I cannot take the LSU southeast Louisiana. Why not because it is not on the board. We use the odds at the odds numbers that covers dot com on my board where find it just the fence makes it. So I will not take that game. And I am lucky because that means basically cherry-picked three games out of a college. I think can work for me. My oh man told me pick fights you can win. I always look for a team that is just garbage and I found them relentlessly throughout the season. Kansas has been Betty Betty over the years, and Kansas Kansas football continues to be a garbage and tire fire all at the same time. Give me central Michigan giving four to the Kansas. Hey, we're basketball school jayhawks, Missouri giving nineteen and a half to. Why owning a drew lock that Missouri squad? They can put up points. I believe that will continue against men. In in Columbia, Missouri taking the Missouri Wyoming game. I mean, I don't understand why you got all business right now. I'm telling you, you just drop knowledge about eastern Michigan. True. Okay. So does now all of a sudden you try to figure out what flavor Kool-Aid I'm I'm mixing up here. Okay. Dumping a lot of sugar into it is going to be good is your accuracy, these games in this. And I got a game that I'm going to take that you will be attending. So you will be thinking about me for the entire nine hours of this Stanford USC game. I think is going to be a lot of fun. I'm taking Stanford given the five and a half to six now. Okay. Okay. That's fine. You a scare nobody with that information. I think Stanford's going to be playing a little bit or a lot of bit of bully ball against against U. S C Stanford. "Hundred and the Mavericks and grizzlies plus five thousand. Oh, man. Some basketball is generally one of the gives it, you know, sports predict like the final teams when it comes to gambling or so this opportunity, but you have to pay a premium for the favorites. So or their architecture, again, rockets or minus four fifty. Yeah, that's crazy. Crazy. I, but yeah, I, I mean, I don't really see avenue to maybe the Spurs pay call it all together and you know the rockets have pretty bad injury walk. But you know, I mean, sure. James getting hurt. I don't see how the rockets don't limits division. So I probably way for fifteen, but stay away for me. All right. These southeast division, we've got the Washington Wizards, and this could this is sort of an anybody to anybody's guests vision for me. The wizards minus one fifty, the heat plus two hundred, the Hornets plus twelve hundred. The magic plus fourteen the hawks plus five thousand. Oh, man. Yeah, not the hawks. Wait, who's the wizard who second. The Miami Heat were second plus two hundred per sky book. Yeah. Well, I don't know if they thought the wizards. My gut this team with world the on somebody issues that they all have together last year, but I hate to do is to the chalk thing. But I, I think I gotta go with with the wizards. Again, I want sippy, not too bad of the, especially when you compare to the rockets and I think they're clearly best team of us teams the division you've got John wall. You've got the best, maybe the best two players in this division. So I I like the Cam there by the way, if all or nothing has been expanding over the last couple of years, they did the Michigan football and they did the Cowboys and they did in this rugby thing. And I think there's another one forgetting if we could get an their thing for the NBA. I would love to spend a season with the Washington Wizards. That would be fun there. There'd be a couple of really fun. Teams could add. But yeah, the wizards would be one for sure. All right. Well, let's talk about the Pacific Division on kinda. Go the Golden State Warriors are these light favorites at minus thirteen hundred Scotto cast the Lakers plus thousand the clippers plus three thousand and the Soanes and kings at plus eight thousand. Yeah. I mean, that's so much to lay like you'd never do that the futures. But I mean, there's, I guess I would probably if I had to bet what wake with those on on the off chance that they make a move or ally midseason and somehow the warriors just don't give a damn about the regular season. This here, their injuries and whatever else. So I might I might go with drawn in the Lakers just because it's value play, but I wouldn't feel good about it. I obviously wouldn't make them to win the division, but that just seems value is like the right call. Yeah. I mean, there is always the chance that the warriors are just not gonna care. They're just not not gonna care about what happens in the regular season. Let's not forget. You know, they didn't even win the west in terms of record less. You're the rockets did. So it's right phrase e to think that somebody else could win the division. And then the warriors just run through the playoffs and sixteen games. Yeah, I mean a little crazy, but it's not super. Crazy. I agree. All right. The north west vision sky book has the thunder and jazz at plus two twenty five. The nuggets at plus four fifty, the timber wolves plus five hundred and the Trail Blazers at plus six hundred the odds-on worst team in the division. Wow, you know, I, I kinda like the blazers. They're the blazers that were right out of the nuggets. The blazers are. Yeah, they're in the the highest odds in this plus six hundred. Yeah. I like that a lot..

"And agent Peterson does fit that specific kind of mold. But I, I don't know, man, I, I don't see a lot of potentially out of Peterson and you might be able to fill avoid here and there. But you know, I foresee them to in a lot of short pass. A lot of Chris Thompson, a lot of using that receiving core which is either has upside or might be kind of bad depending on. But you know. Yeah, look, I, I don't know. I, it's hard to know what to expect from that Washington because that division is kind of. I mean, it's really your boys, and then it's kind of a s show. So. Really, no better. I think Cowboys are gonna be way better this year, and I actually think the giants are going on a much better as well. But yeah, Alex Smith. Okay, too though. I don't. I mean, I like Alex Smith quarterback, but I don't know. I that defense is not not scaring me if I'm an opposing office, but so with with Adrian Peterson. Yeah, so three yards of carry New Orleans. And that did jump all the way up to three point five in his time with Arizona coming one point, one point, nine yards per carry season Minnesota. The year pro. You know you had your, you had your time, Adrian, miraculous things you came back from from that ACL in in no time at all showed no full, no signs of being injured but manages walkaway. Let's let's get to that hall of fame announcement in five years. We don't is amazing realis- well, what people aren't really in the charity business when it comes to giving players. Third, fourth, fifth, chances by guesses that he looks good. Like in these workouts he's always been a great workout. Warrior is just when it comes to show on the field like he just doesn't have what he had. What made him so special, which was the the absolute ferocity that Iran with was. I mean, there's been very few ever like especially at this era when you know players are little bit more finesse, generally, I just like he just doesn't have that anymore. The explosion combined with the strike so. But having said like. You know, look at this competition, it's Kelly and like Capri bibs, I think. And you know, Chris, honestly, gonna be there third down back. So there's there's opportunity, fragrant Peterson, I just don't know. You know, there's, there's gonna be a lot of production. Agreed. "Like, you know, basically try to use our dots as like a a PR situation to light, and you know the blame, no. I think it was just them basically treating him like he was five years old. Yeah, maybe I don't know that it was hard knocks relieved as just we don't trust this guy yet. We're going to treat him like a child and not be too aggressive with him to try and get him to not lie to us. I made. I thought of it. Honestly, my thought going through my head because this prejudge court is was we need this guy badly at that Todd alien eve at you know, the scope of the show. He's clearly it would be too, and I, you know, obviously, all that was just ridiculous. There's no way they didn't know about it at that point. But anyway, I feel like they were looking at Antonio Callaway. They seen as -bility like the way that he scores that touchdown, the belong on it was just like fantasize. So so freaking talented, we can't afford to lose it. We need to play, give him a long week, and this is the first step and we need to give him like almost nobody. Then we'll work our way up. This for all the many like we use your incidents that we're going to have to deal with this guy. Yeah, for sure. And just to stick with that wide receiver core for second, I do believe that if Josh Gordon doesn't make announcement this past weekend, that Dez Bryant Brown right now. Wow, very interesting. 'cause it sounded like a one that was kind of like for the council tonight, but probably not everything. Campus. I've seen some quotes from tonight's and it's a little. It doesn't make sense from Hugh Jackson's perspective. Some of the things that I've seen that could be quoted out of context we have to. We got to move on from the Browns and hard knocks, but fascinating. I'm sure to talk more next week. I just wanna wrap the with with a couple of really quick. We talked about that that sixteen hundred thirty six yard season that Josh Gordon hadn't twenty thirteen. That was within the confines of an offense where the leading quarterback went one and seven and threw for two thousand fifteen yards and leading running back. Carried the ball one hundred thirty eight times for three hundred seventy seven yards as their leading rosel. And the gone through and the Browns just gone through. That was four years ago and they've basically never shown any promise maybe one half season. They were interesting from a competitive fan point. Just just crazy. All right. Another guy who has not necessarily been interesting for quite some time as resurfaced in the NFL today. The great once Adrian Peterson, five hundred twenty nine yards last year seventy two yards the year before Washington Redskin. Now replacing guys who's injured and we'll be out for the season. What do you think is this Peterson have anything that to contribute to this Washington team. He's probably got something I don't really see it. But I mean they also Jay Gruden came out and basically said like, we're not signing someone unless they're here for the long haul. So I I my guess is that he's gonna play a decent amount. And last year he gets what? Five hundred five hundred five hundred yards that we didn't have. That's definitely didn't have the explosion he had before at least saying to a little bit better with the cardinals. It seemed like you know, Harry little very little. I mean, Washington's desperate, you can tell the team that piled all of its chips into the thirty one year old quarterback and Alex thirty. One, I think he's actually thirty three maybe in now it's been so they're, they're looking at a p right away..

"Understand. I mean, physically, you're talking about Chris Carter said the other day that he over the last twenty years. He's one of the ten most physically talented wide receivers that come into the NFL to play in the NFL. And that's probably true. And that's high praise. He's so gifted and he is just so naturally talented, it's just a matter of how much how much can you trust him? How can you rely on them? Where is his mindset? Has he decided that he needs to? It seems like he is figured out that he needs to stay clean. He needs to take himself out of these situations that he is done poor poor things in the past, but where's the work ethic? And that doesn't necessarily mean those two things are both there, whereas is, has he figured out that he needs to be more than just a guy who relies on athletic ability to to get his sixteen hundred yards this season? I don't think there's a way to answer that yet. I, my tastes are high. I because I think this is going to be the. Talented offense he's ever played within. This is the first time when he put up those sixteen hundred yards and twenty thirteen, and he was maybe the best player in offensive player in football. He was playing with nobody that was Derek Anderson. Jason Campbell season Brian Hoyer season. Yeah. No, it's right. I guess related -ly what you think about like in retrospect, you know when we talked about this two or three weeks ago and we had Josh cords. I'm gonna be, you know, you said Josh Gordon won't be here. What you know. We said that over unders our play, you know, knowing regiments back benefit of hindsight that you know, he all right to get. This is two games. He shows up, you know, he he kind of apologizes, but you know, we wanted to get himself rights. So relating to what you're talking about about wanting to be completely, they're quote unquote. Like, do you think that this is this is actually accomplish that? Like is it. He is. He on the right track. Was that the right thing to do with like, do you believe that is a couple of gaps was because he really wanted to get mentally completely stable and he didn't think that being around hard not to be the best thing for him. Or do you think or like what? What do you think of the whole absence at retrospect, I guess and what going for a season to come? It's hard because at the end of the day we really don't know, do we, you know, we're not around him. We we don't know what's going on in his head. We don't know what struggles he's dealing with with demons stealing with. Judging it from an outsider's perspective with a little bit of the slant on the situation. I think it's a good thing. I think that shows the developing maturity for him, developing self awareness. And if that's the case, then that's great. I hope it's not him just running hiding. I don't think that's what it was. I, I have to you this as this is a positive step for his person, and that's going to mean a positive step foot ball player. You'd have to hope. I mean, unfortunately, that's all there is to this. We we don't know. We don't. We don't know what's going on in his head, and the answers aren't gonna come until September ninth rolls around and we see what the guy dozen the football field. Sure. Yeah. I just I kinda wanna void like the confirmation bias. You know, like if it's good and it's like, oh, like if he performs while it's like, oh, wow, great, good, good things get away. But I also like I but I also don't know, like I don't really get what's going on. It's like such a huge mystery to. And I just think that Josh Gordon is maybe most compelling sore as football season as far as specific player because I just like, I think that someone being gone for four years game going through all the stuff that he put himself through, admittedly, like on his own accord, and then coming back is just fascinating. And I think especially for this team that has turned it all the way around or at least try to completely clean house and try to turn it all the way around is he's such a great emblematic piece to that.

"I can't even imagine what it's like to be so good that you're hitting three forty, six with twenty four home runs and thirty steals in major league baseball that that twenty seventeen season he had was just incredible. Yeah. Well, twenty sixteen and seventeen. Both identical twenty four home runs eight percent. Walk rate. You. Three v three forty batting average like that guy. So your neck Madrigal if you're anybody that's like undersize you basically just go look at those AL too. But yeah, absolutely. Watch the watch the approach of that guy that that, so you wanna be that you want to emulate. Let's let's let's talk about a couple of the other moves that were made today. So unfortunately official, you Darvish done for the season. Stress reaction is elbow triceps strain, but they do make a move. They get Daniel Murphy from the cubs, and I'll tell you what I think is Daniel Murphy. Trade could end up being a really sneaky. Good trade for the cubs throughout the rest of the season. Yeah. I mean, he was basically three. I can't believe no one blocks murder going to the cubs know that they were kind of one of the teams as far as waiver order goes. But you know, they were behind several National League contenders. I mean, how do the brewers picking up? I know that this guy's definitely had some problematic statements, but on the field he's nails. I mean, he is really, really good and you know worth four and a half wins last year, five point seventy year before this series already been awesome. I mean less good field, but still just killing the ball, the chain of three thirty, five weighted on base average. I mean, the guy is really, really good, and you know, he's gonna play a ton for the cubs, Chris, Brian insurance, Bryant, those and come back around. You know, I think that, you know, I just don't see any way any team couldn't use him. Every team could use him every contender. And you know the cubs kind of like an embarrassment of riches. I mean, they really don't need him. When you think of their field and really, they're outfielder, I assume that he'll be mixing it up a little bit here and there as a, you know, as as a. Multiple position lefty bat. So for she and I, you know, I think he's his power is going to be useful and guy who's obviously been there in the playoffs for sure. And how about the other trade? The nationals made Matt Adams goes back to the cardinals. Yeah, for straight up cash. Straight cash on me. Yeah. Like I thought weeks ago that the national would be silly to way go play. I mean at this point, obviously they're just trying to get bacon, get mad Adams, not really a big loss for them like not that they're probably making the ploughs or anything, but it's like they can just plug in Ryan Zimmerman and whoever else that they do not making some kind of crazy run. The most interesting thing I think I'm not sure if you were getting there, but Bryce Harper waiver is claimed by the dodgers and then ultimately sent back basically, it seems like they weren't even remotely close to a deal. The dodgers essentially blocking anybody from science from getting Harper, which makes a lot of sense. And you know, national, they do still get that that sandwich pick in between the person second round in x years. It'll be drafts Arbor, but that would obviously be a pittance compared to what they could have gotten had, you know, maybe throwing them out there. Dangled him at the at the. Actual trained on a month ago. What do you think the dodgers offer was that? I know I know we didn't come close to getting Bryce Harper trait today, but what do you think they offered you gotta think they're the only team that the national it's gonna go..

"Welcome to the underdog episode. Number eighty. Six. I'm Chris hotel joined as mostly by aunt Yukon a- onto my friend, exciting day for the Chicago White Sox. Michael kopech makes his debut. How'd that go. Exciting. Yeah. You know, this is a huge moment for the White Sox. Obviously they brought up gotta last year, the number one prospect at the time, but it's ios a little bigger with kopecks and you know, I mean, Moncada had come up with Boston before that this is their first of their, you know, really elite prospects that's going to be coming up on his own accord through their system. And you know, he has just been completely on fire down. The stretch think is like he had. He had a little bit of trouble in the early to mid season with walks and the last I think I wanna say six starts or six weeks or starts. He's got no fifty, nine ks and four walks and his last fifty innings and the guys just absolute just you know, the the definition of kind of like the old Taksin fireball wears a number thirty four like he's it's really an exciting time to watch and. Very, very cool. What was what was the line today? I'm looking looking for right now. How did he fare? Oh, see pitching second tonight. Okay. Okay. So double header. No. Okay. I'm looking at the Chicago White Sox having beaten the Minnesota Twins, but. Them guessing that was yesterday. So fair enough, exciting for the that. In addition to this hard knocks, we'll talk about that and just a second. But let's let's stick with the old baseball game there for a minute. And what do you think copay fair to say? This is one of the two best prospects in baseball. I know I saw a couple listed had them number one, no offense to cope it. But I think it's ridiculous than anyone, but Vlad Guerrero junior would be number one. So. Top two top three guy in baseball? No, I, I think that he's probably would. I've seen mostly around seven to ten. He's a top ranked pitcher almost invariably, but it's usually Vlad junior and also the sock system. And you know, obviously, to the extent that still retained us prospects Addis, he's up around there the Bischette overshadows around there. But yeah, like I mean, this guy's the number one pitching guy for sure, and he carries a lot of just, you know, he's just so electric and his basketball. You know, we talked about it years ago already on this show where they were showing him up two one, five, and you know, just easy. He's got like the celebrity girlfriends and he's sort of got the the flowing air and just everything about him. He's he's a big personality for sure. So it's I, like I say, I compare them to Moncada, but I think it's a little bit bigger for the White Sox. I think when you think of a lot of these. Prospects getting called up the Kobe call up to me. Maybe I'm biased just seems a little bit kinda like on another level. I absolutely. And I'm looking at this. I'm looking at this top prospects list on MLB dot com pipeline and I'm just furious on you. Is like it's mistake up there. Well, not even that. It's just mistake after mistake in the Phillies system, you know, you have a couple years ago. They take Mony instead of Nick central. I know he sends one more money in that would have that would have limited what they could have done in the second round, but that second round pick up. Yeah, but so what Mony sucks. I mean, he said he's better over the last couple over the last couple of months, but I'll take the number four prospect in the minors over a guy who's struggling and high. Yeah, actually. And the issue is that it could have been central end Boba shit and then sitting there put, hey, we got Kevin Gallen in the second round and he hasn't pitched a pitch yet in his professional career. So that's fun to look forward to kind of the the Embiid deal there with Philadelphia Zaire Smith deal with Philadelphia. There it is coming in at number eight on the list, aunt Yukon Kyle Tucker, who was once a part of the Ken Giles trade, but we took him out so that we could get get the Velasco's or no, it's not even philosophy. It's a it was a Pell, get appel, added joy, thank God for that needed another..
Yu Darvish of Chicago Cubs will miss rest of the season with elbow, triceps injuries
"We must have must address Darvish done for the season It's not a stress fracture but it's the the. Preliminary feelings of stress fracture he's out six weeks will put him to. The end of the year no more Yu Darvish for. The Chicago, Cubs this season and the I guess the good part is the ligament that was repaired from his. Tommy John surgery is fine so he will not. Need any Tommy John surgery he'll just have to deal with this and should be back for next year because the philosophy is if he has, to have Tommy John surgery he's out, for a whole 'nother year then you lose him for two years essentially of his contract and then. Futures up in the, air but now you know it's not. That he was being soft there was there's something wrong something was found and gave reason to. Why he was in pain and this is why you Darvish may very well in a short matter of time become one of the most polarizing players for us to watch Chicago sports fans since Jay Cutler Because we until now haven't known whether or not he was actually hurt or if he couldn't handle the moment right and that allows people, to speculate on the character of the, player now he's hurt so he's going to be done for the season but it's something that's always. Tech day Michael kopech get, ahead of myself but Michael kopech who starts his first major league baseball. Game tonight. The white Satch Could very well become one of the greatest strikeout pitchers in the history of the, game? And make it to the hall of fame and take away Chester Wilshire that could happen or or monkeys. Could fly out, my that's fine that's fine yeah all right so he, is extremely highly touted because he throws a fastball somewhere in the hundred mile per hour, range right it's more than a, fastball as as Bruce Springsteen with Jay in glory days fulfill that. Speed ball diet He he said he was in the Chris sale trade as you have to tell you about trade The White Sox get four players they got you'll online Cada All hang. On let me growl okay Louis shabby who's going to be the great center fielder, that they got, Michael kopech Kingston clock throwing the ball a hundred and, ten miles per hour with running start. Which way through. It They don't allow that. A game but he doesn't by what do. You. Mean, they don't allow that you can't like when he threw one hundred ten mile an hour. Fastball he he wasn't standing on. The mound he ran toward the mound in through it okay well then why even, mentioned that because, no one's done that one hundred ten miles per hour, no one's been running But Church I. Got I got thirty three The fastest, in baseball league, history, fastest three Harry this year Dan the, cardinal two hundred five and Michael Michael, copay was clots in the minors especially at a hundred and five. Miles per hour two years ago. But here's what makes him great not only, that you told the fastball hundreds, but he chose a wicked, slider. So. Like show up on okay okay. Get ready to swim wheel fast. And then, he'll throw the. Slider they're like that's not fair and he's. Been walking guys in the minors that's why, they. Haven't called me twenty two yeah but in his last seven games. These for. We call these statistics Lasts seven games fifty nine strikeouts and only Taiwa that's tremendous I saw him Wendy in AAA. Don't know how, they, produce unusual at some point Right and and he's bathing guy has the ball Our he's, three he's got long beautiful, flowing curly blond hair and he dates Vanessa Morgan who is one of the. Stars in the TV show little tale about. That everything in the world going? For this guy so do, you hate him I'm excited for Bill I. Don't, hate anybody. Yes you do I got. A list later All right so OPEC action figures I'm holding. It right now so is there any downside at all to him coming up in pitching in the major? Leagues this year, everybody always says if you use up some games that could come back to haunt, you later, on you know when they're going to, renegotiate his deal is that is? That a? Concern isn't. It Isn't that that's that's. A little concerned because like the, cubs jet Royal? Was, smart which push. Flying they held him out. To the post sixteen games is rookie season yeah because because they didn't get the whole season he has? One extra year, still under the control of the White Sox and waited 'til like the third week, of April, next year and they're not they're not, going anywhere this year maybe third?
