"Seems to destroy every ounce of the great potential that that football team has and should have, I would love it and I love that Mika Antonio, he could have just said off to the lack of professionalism, just the abhorrent corruption that is that is there. And by the way, everywhere in bloody Concacaf everywhere, you look at who's running again to be president of U.S. soccer with some not just pointing the finger. So much of Concacaf lives below the radar and we're all the worse off for that. But I think it's fantastic. I love the Jamaican national team. I wish they played football in Clark's wallabies. That would make me incredibly happy for me. Perspective, but the bear Sheamus tuna in the chat says he's all for gray joining them. Because the U.S. has already played Jamaica twice. But the mogul is a very rare Everton footballer. Talked about this before when Leon Ottoman used to be on the ball surging forward and the commentator says, Leonard picks it up. I don't always emotionally check out. I knew he'd either trip over it for later, or be knocked off the ball. When the Murray gray gets the football, I actually lean in. I'm genuinely one of the few of us in football as I'm actually still very excited about fantastic player. Everton at a craft. Michael Keane is a terrible, terrible, a cosmically terrible. That's always gonna say. You lean gray gets the ball and every attacker in the leans in when Michael king gets the ball. But he's not a terrible center back. Rod, he's elite level that is managed through, you know, he's made it to his national team, he's made it to the Premier League. He is a legally delete. It's just the game is so hard for center backs, particularly in that position. Yeah, that's not going to be the thing about us, though, David. We destroy good play. He was a good right. He's a good player when he came to everything, a very good player. We destroy good players. That's what I feel right now, David. That's where I am mentally. I do look at him play. He was a he had the future ahead of it. And then he came to us and we, that's who we are, David. What we touch, we destroy what we love, we turn into send up. And it's quite a dark place to be to be candid. Those of you who are not Everton fans, it's a human. So maybe you need a guy like Michael Caine to come in. Boys. You can be much better again. You can be a better football team. Jerry, come on. You line up there. Let's lose a little bit of the enthusiasm. I've never seen you'll be okay. Come on, shameless. It's all right. You've got to run up, but then you've got to get back, you've got to cover. Jordan, you're out of the keeper every now and then dive all the way across the gulf and go and get the pork. I think Michael came would be brilliant for your boys. And then remember the scene of victory, but I'm loving it. I felt like I was literally there. I felt like I was having a big tree sequel. I'm not going to do Pelé's lines because they're quite awful and offensive, but you've made me together. I don't think you've got total control of this team. I just don't think you're really demand for the job. Ritualists and you are completely. Love it. Yeah. I don't know what we should do. Maybe we should go and make a trade for Ralph ranit. He is German, but he's one of the good ones. One of my favorite impressions Michael Kane. It's not a great impression, but I enjoy doing it. You enjoy it, there can this tell you, I'd say it was a solid impression, but what's so that it was the jury you ever thought I love it? How many impressions can I do in life, David? Not a lot. None. Not a lot of mimic. Not a single bloody one. I don't quite understand what a linguist amongst you on this green room there. So when I hear you do one, but love it so much. I just get off on the jaw you get from doing your Michael Cain impression. Can you do the rest of this green room as we shut it down the Devo in your Michael Caine accent? Okay, good. That is it for this Spotify great room. A quick reminder. There are many blazers, TV show, returns Sunday. January 16th, a two 30 p.m. on peacock, where all of our shows from this season live in other particular. With all of our shows on this season, live in perpetuity. Roger. Could we get one final toast to bring a ton? Yeah, I'm so ill. It's remarkable. Yeah, I'm gonna raise my yek in my stuff. This show of human in the classes the joy, the energy I'm about to completely. Human being for lasting through this. And most of all, GFP, we were given ten minutes that probably will obey the podcast. It just abject woeful utter. I mean, nor its city of agreed room up top. It was majestic. You stayed with us, your questions are in this. Let's be candid. It's quite crap we have football narrative. You flew with us through this. David, sorry, Michael K.

"Was one of the 80s right Maybe 80s it was one of those classics Michael Keaton was in it Still looks the same by the way Michael Keane I want to know what's in the drinking water over there at the Keaton residents But he had this movie called Johnny dangerously It was a satirical movie about the mob It was kind of funny And halfway through the movie he talked about this dreadful condition If you get this seek medical help immediately Elephant Titus of the nuts Yes that is a rough one You get that one Okay Jim looks like he's gonna choke on something over there too You all right Mike get a medical attention immediately Call 9-1-1 I'm kidding He's not sure But he is laughing Yes elephant Titus of the nuts right That's a big problem It's a great Johnny dangerously It's a very serious problem There's actually a PSA in the movie I'm not kidding watch the movie It's pretty funny But man do you gotta have that condition to pull what The New York Times is Stewart a Thompson tried to pull yesterday I mean you gotta have cojones The size of like the Hawaiian Islands I mean it is just it is just straight up balls to do this one The New York Times Stewart a Thompson who is a tool of the highest order He writes this piece this is almost like too much to put out there Again the temerity of these people So Stewart writes for The New York Times the PP paper right The BB hoax paper the embarrassing blast I even a serious newspaper It really is One of the great pains of my existence by the way is because I am in this content production space I have to have a subscription to The New York Times because I got to get their stuff because I got to put it out there I got to see what they're talking about for the show Listen to me Giving them a dime of my money even though I have to just drives me insane And say I am a capitalist I can't steal their stuff I'm not a fraud like the left But it drives me wild That when I see stuff like this I have to pay these idiots to look at it to report you on the report to you on their stupidity But can you imagine being the paper responsible largely responsible for propagating the Russian collusion hoax the pee pee tape hoax right Some of the biggest hoaxes of our time you got way behind The New York Times Hey now fully discredited Non functional pseudo journalism outlet Whose readership has dropped off the face of the earth since Donald Trump left office Imagine writing in that paper about misinformation knowing you are the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation PP hoax paper Imagine having the Imagined having the testicular fortitude to put a piece in there by Stuart Thompson without even a hint of irony about falsehoods and election falsehoods Is incredible Incredible Again this is like being a lecture by the guy who is sweating booze He's had 24 pops blue ribbons He's as drunk as a skunk He's sweating out 120 grain alcohol His breath is so bad you're getting drunk smelling this guy and he's there God hey man I think you should drink this possibly You're like wait why That's The New York Times writing about election falsehood So they write this piece I had a laugh I saw this this morning And you read it and you're like we must be living in some kind of parallel universe Is this like a marvel movie or something Am I going to see Thanos What's going to happen next Magneto Is he going to buy This is insane Here's the title of the article Election falsehood surged on podcast before the capitol riots Researchers find way to hear the researchers are A new study analyzed 1500 episodes showing the extent to which podcast pushed misinformation about voter fraud This is all coordinated on the left all of it They all know January 6th is coming up You know they all know it So what do they do They because the left is fully populated with communists socialists fascists people who practice totalitarianism and all of their tactics They figure never let a crisis go to waste You have the anniversary of January 6th coming up This is the perfect opportunity now to push for what we wanted the whole time which is speed suppression We want free speech crushed That's what The New York Times is all in on now The Washington Post and elsewhere These are not serious people They're not journalists What they want is they want totalitarianism and to do that They've got to get rid of all alternative viewpoints So they're all sensing an opportunity The cat lady The New York Times and everything to get podcasts free speech websites taken down because this is what they do They're totalitarian disgusting grotesquely So this is what they do So he writes this piece to where Thompson about election falsehoods on podcasts and he goes after Steve Bannon Glenn Beck Mark Levin Sean Hannity me of course Ben Shapiro It's basically anyone who's not a leftist right Stewart Thompson because this guy is a tool I mean a colossal tool bag I mean really just look at the guy's picture You see for yourself The guy is a complete tool If there was like a picture in Miriam Webster's dictionary of a tool bag he'd say works for The New York Times and looks like this schmuck here Stuart Thompson So he writes this piece and what they basically did is they went to the brookings institution and had them transcribe podcasts How bored do you have to be Does this not prove the point I made in the beginning of the show that these people are obsessed with us I promise you I have never listened start to finish To one no less transcribe One crazy leftist podcast ever I don't even know what they are what Jim do you know Pod save America Those are lefties those guys right Tommy Tommy V neck or whatever savings they have a podcast via tour Yeah time to do it He's the dude guy Remember him on Brett bear dude That was like a they have a popular party I get a lot of they were on the left I have never listened to it not 5 seconds of it I don't know anything about it Why don't care That's why I just don't care I don't wanna hear about how high taxes are great School choice sucks and abortions wonderful and guns are terrible I don't care not the left Stewart Thompson The New York Times the pee pee paper And the brookings institution the Brooklyn institution how hilarious is that Where the primary delusion that people who deluded American to believing that dossier was real Remember that danchenko Fiona hill strobe Talbot crown They all worked at the brookings institution Had the temerity you have to have to write in the PP hoax paper The New York Times about research from the dossier brookings institution about misinformation while listening to 1500 conservative podcasts.

"Like January and has elements from Spider-Man in it, and he mentions them in one of the trailers. It's like what universe is that in? I don't even know. And Michael Keane is in that movie as well, and he's from the MCU. And that's all kinds of confusing. A little bit more clear cut, though, is the post credits scene, which wasn't actually a Postgres scene. It was just a full on trailer for Doctor Strange and the multiverse of madness. How did you interpret that? It was cool. I guess because the multiverse and Doctor Strange stuff from no way home could presumably lead directly into the next Doctor Strange movie, it makes sense. I wasn't mad about the fact that it was a trader instead of a theme. I would it's probably annoying for people to say, what they would have done as fans, but I think I would have preferred that those mid and post credit scenes checked in on top of McGuire and Andrew Garfield's bottom universe. Right. Right. That would have been nice to have a little bit of closure there for sure. Yeah. There's also something to be said for the mystery. Look, it was a good writer. I just kind of wish they just put it on the Internet instead. Yeah, great. Great. It felt like that was something that they probably will put on the Internet and it's not something that is necessarily the better worse awards special to the movie. Well, we've definitely run over and we've got to wrap things up. I did want to note that that last mid credits scene with Eddie Brock also featured Danny Rojas from Ted Lasso or the Adam and the actor who played which kind of threw me off. I was like, oh, that's that football for life guy. That's which I don't know. I'm gonna end this with that random observation. Sean, thank you for your time and for breaking this down. "But two inches and she goes on really. You're going to be able to walk in these clinches. High and i went I don't think it's going to be a problem. Came had issues with quayle shoes. I hit eighteen inches. Okay this to. These are not a problem for me. It'll be no problem so i don't think they they didn't open. I know they didn't open in two thousand twenty and he didn't open. I don't believe this year. Either and these guys i mean they. A lot of the kids are college kids and they audition in january. He goes around to different colleges and they audition and they wanna come to the barn and they wanna be equity member and and you know they pick. I don't know twenty kids and then they do eight plays and you have to learn a new play in two weeks. You have to learn it. Whatever it is rent or sunset boulevard or rocky or whatever it is whatever played pick you gotta learn it in two weeks and have your lines and it's really a good is really good training. It's amazing it's a it's a great place of it. Look forward to every summer you did audition early in your in the seventies. You had auditioned for nightshift right. Michael keane got how did you. How did you so what. What's the story behind that kind of make sense only a small part in movie cold group to i can't remember it was proctor and bergman movie and and i and somebody new somebody and said will you. I didn't have an agent and they said we audition for this. And i thought for sure i was going to get it. You know because it was perfect. Timing really but you know michael keaton got. I actually knew michael keaton. We played we played on a on a celebrity softball team. Hollywood rollers or something. I can't remember. The name was but in. Encino and mike mike. Keaton was a shortstop and i played for his space and he was good. He can play so it pretty much killed our french him when he and i didn't ask you about another film which i know. It wasn't necessarily an acting role but just watch this again last night. You watch them do holly now. I only watch the scene. You're you're seeing. How is that an experience like that Well kenny ortega was the choreographer movie so this this is the michael jackson. So this is right. This is serious car. High school musical one two three michael jackson. He did bette midler. He did she. Everybody and he started with the tubes. Any ortega in about nineteen seventy three or four and he had just come off a regional tour of jesus christ superstar where he was like a background dancer and he saw his play one night and he said oh. Well you got and we were just we had you know. We were laying on top of each other and had no no choreography at all. And he saw us. And he said i wanna be choreographer. Can i help you put shows to wow and well yeah sure. Come on now you know. So yeah he started with us and he's he's an amazing amazing. I mean he put our whole world together from from the beginning from seventy five all the way to eighty six eighty seven and he would go out on tour with us and he would you know get rehearse with us and put dancers together with us and he responsible for you. Are you ending up in xanadu. Yes he was he was the choreographer and he said you know i got these guys. I want europe. They wanted a band to play. That song got some dancing to do. And then the other you know. They had like the forties. Andrew sisters kind of song and that kind of the marriage staged burge together right. And that was definitely kennedy's whole deal that a tube song dan.

"A cool design for that character and they bring in love to see what they would do with that. But you know. I just don't want them to force this man. I'm really scared that the sony breathing down their neck. They're like you know we're gonna use your money now to do what we wanna do. And by the way for for your cooperation you get to keep the kid. I hope that that that's that's the only thing that scares me because there are already trying to connect they're already trying to connect this universe with moebius the living. There was some posters in the trailer for that mobis yet. Because you got you. Got michael keaton as the vulture. He's in that. Michael he read the scares me. I'm gonna see if i can find this article michael keaton. If you guys didn't know he was of course. He's the belcher in homecoming. Let me see here. Show y'all this. Because i read this in this scared me so much so let me see here. How do you know what it might not have been. It might have been for. The flash might not have been for that. But i thought i heard that from for moebius that he was. He was confused because confuse. Yeah he was he was confused about. Oh here it is he michael keaton. You don't know what the fuck is going on. Between between between one brothers in dc immoral because everybody has got all these multi go. He's reading scripts right now. He read the script for the flash. And he's like. I don't know what the fuck is happening ending. Did the same thing with them. They said michael was confused by marvel universe while filming more bs rated very physical. Comic book dot com. It is like yeah. He's like michael. Keaton is given up. He's like he's like. I'm going to take the money i'm here to work. Do whatever give me. But i don't know don't ask me what's going on. I don't know what the fuck is happening. And an actor's actor days like. I don't know what the hell is going on. What's the motivation. Okay press to you. Tell me when to go the lines fucking lost. Say as long as he's convinced saying it. I don't care yucky fucking around. Michael keane goes show up on the separate spiderman. Dress like batman. No wait a minute. what wrong what. What happened to go to the flash dressed up like the bolts. Were ready guys. Hey man where's your batman. Suit claiming shit. This is a dc movie. Okay fuck i don't know. Dc what does that mean. Dc means desperately confused. This scares me man. Because now he's up you're saying because he said in a meeting they him the script to like the flash. He's out there doing this and they finally said they say you don't know what's going on. He's like nope. I'm and he's his words. I don't know what the fuck is happening anymore. So now he's showing up in these. This this is moving. He's like i don't understand what's happening. I i was thinking that was spiderman. I'm hanging out with his vampire character. So now i'm thinking like all right if if sony's what pushing this shit man and they're really and they open their making disney kind of do this talk about you're talking about a time line out of wack. They could come in here and actually make this kind of crazy little too crazy confusing which i hope is not the case. Because i'm ask you something. Do you think it's a great idea to play with great idea to play with the multi verse man. That's that's that's a brilliant but do you think that they're the ones that you think disney was on board with the idea. they like. they thought this was cool. Do you think that sony said all right. Now that you've got a multi-diverse our shit put in there. I don't know from how. I've been seeing it. And what i've been reading. Always seems like disney has a hand on the wheel with them not to hand but just a hand on the wheel. When they're driving this thing forward. So i can't see sony. You know dictating a lot of things. Maybe a lot of suggestions in mama's like okay. We kinda spend our way Again i think adding the multi multi verse actually. It will help marvel in the long run. And i think they could see that as well know so having them do this. Think is a bad idea and also just having the you know the mc you stamping or more. Sony is a stupid. They know that you know they have to have some kind of leniency. When it comes to whatever mobile telling them suggesting to do right so i can't see them. You know arbitrarily. Are we better. stick them in. We'll take him with us. I can't see them doing that. You know i think sony's he's leading marble have a hand on the wheel and help direct oddities right when it comes to i guess the non shed characters like venom. You know those guys and that's when you know sony's own think and if they want to start including you know other mci characters. I think you will have again amara hand on the wheel at least a pinkie on the wheel making sure that stuff doesn't go to to crazy but at the same time it does too crazy. Hey multi bitch not getting aga. Well that's what that's that's a good possibility right here man everybody wants. Everybody wants a A their version the right version of certain characters and they think that marbles only ones that can really do that right right. I'm looking at just looking at some stuff right here. So i'm thinking like all right you know what maybe this'll be. This could be on the bright side. This could be a good way for sony to be able to play with disney and eat this spider to you know. Maybe they can. You know they'll be able to. They'll be able to do their versions of things. They'll be able to come in and say all right. You know what all you call marvel fans that there you don't like you don't like version of.

I even like those, you know, Michael Keane's the man, Tim Burton, and I look at first It was so good that I mean Batman returns at 2nd 1 It's so dark and scary. I love it. I think they're great. So either way, I think you're I think it's shooting fish in a barrel with the first ones or these last ones, with Nolan one in the middle. I'm not sure about a way number one. I think it's rocky Care what anybody says Rocky Five. I get mad about rocky five because I think it was just ask tonight. First, Rocky And Rocky, too. Joel Schumacher's decision to put bat nipples and enlarge coat cod pieces on the bat costumes as well as an earring on Robin caused tons of controversy. It even bothered Batman Co Creator Bob Kane. Schumacher said he wanted the costumes to have an atomic anatomic look while the earring was supposed to make robin more hip, he also claimed that the basis for the Batman and Robin suits came from statues of of Ancient Greece. They should have been more. The rebels going break his hip more than look yes. Man It it. Yeah that that wasn't one of Joe's best ideas. "I mean of course you know this is a movie about a a AH demonic head and it does give head at one point and of course in reanimator you know there's a head giving head and also but aside from that there's just a real just kind of all out like craziness to the violence. The Gore the performances everybody's what is just kind of goes back to John Waterson. Everybody is just so off you know everybody's just so just strange throughout the whole movie and so I think on on multiple levels I thought of reanimator yes and what a great thing to I think of. I love reanimator yeah. Absolutely I mean you know. There's not going to be too many times to see heads giving head yeah. We talked about reanimator another episode. Did I can't remember what it was now and you said that your dad had suggested it. Yeah that's right. What movie was that. Oh that was overlord. That's right yeah me and my dad went and saw an animator the musical and he was very very excited about it. I saw reanimated the music. Was that in Vegas. I think it was at the Smith Center. If I am not making this up right now anybody WanNa confirm that yeah. I really think it was all right Josh. Why don't we go on your next puzzle. Well actually I think this. This is connected to the reanimator theme and the movie I've seen reanimator but it's been a while but the movie that I thought of was Franken Hooker which is another other from. I think maybe nineteen ninety or maybe the early nineties somewhere around there maybe slightly later than the era that this movie is trying trying to emulate movie about a Nerdy Weirdo who kind of kills a bunch of people in order to satisfy a strange sexual connection with woman issue thing and I think it has it has a similarly early like reanimator again. It's been a while I remember it being smaby slightly more serious at times and bringing hookers just crazy constantly and I think it had more of the like ridiculous over the top humor that this movie has or that it has in its best moments I sure so yeah and I just like saying Franken Hooker. Yeah never enough time to say that yeah yeah. What do you think about that. One drew I love Franken Hooker and she is all woman and well. I think that right now anyone that's listening should really want to see the head. That's that's what I'm saying. I'm just sitting here thinking wow this is like John Waters version of reanimator and Franken Hooker who wouldn't want that to my new favorite movie movie that is pretty damn exciting yeah well. What do you have your Your next one drew my next puzzle. Piece is an an actual shot on video film from eighties what that is set in Las Vegas so it's something that that I didn't think of necessarily early when the film was being made but watching it it reminded me of it and it's called Las Vegas bloodbath. I Dunno if either of you. I thought I'd seen every movie set in Las Vegas but I have not heard of that. I don't know how many people have ever actually seen it. I wish I knew the real history of it and I. I was trying to do some research for a little while but it's it's a shot on. It's a shot on. VHS horror movie and the story that I know I'm from its its genesis is it was I heard that it was someone that had a an oil wrestling team here of women women that would like mud wrestle and oil wrestle and it was he created this movie to promote them and so there there is an actual team. There's these women that are oil wrestlers and it goes into a weird subplot for wild. It's almost a commercial for them so I believe this this story but I don't know that it's hundred percent true but it's just basically a a really strange vegas-based shot on video horror movie about a character whose wife cheats on him and he loses his mind and it goes on a killing spree and which that part of it isn't like it but just seeing the vegas landscape and Sean on VHS just something it just reminded me of it yeah for sure I I certainly haven't heard anyone in his audience heard of that movie now not even Michael Keane director of the head yeah. That's that's a good deal. I like it. I like it a lot. I'm going to go with another puzzle here and I was almost is going to go with evil dead. I bring up literally every single episode ever it happens a lot with with the other evil dead Ed. I'M GONNA go with dead alive instead because you know in this one you got this. This weird Kinda just Weirdo guy his mom you know as a part of you know part part of it yes to bring home you know people to for to feed on forever creatures in his basement to feed on zombies so yeah a lot of a lot of data alive in the the plot of this and also I mean I think it has that same kind of mix of of comedy and horror it really. Kinda just goes for total. Go for Baroque ridiculous over the top nece yeah yes yes. I can see you're not you're still just like picking out of a hat full of my favorite movies but I can totally see that the humor is very much the same and and the way something that I really appreciate and I try to do as well as using the Hor- four for the humor is something that I like to sometimes people separate it and they try to write funny dialogue but then they then they have Gore and horror and I and I think there's a way to blend them and I think there's something about poor that can be really funny sure and I think Michael in in the head really really did that did that. Well and it's hard at a and I think it would have been hard not to in a sense I mean seeing that it is that there is a mannequin head slurping swerving serving but it's hard to make make it super serious but but he managed Mak- genuinely funny I like the the method that that he chose to to make the blood like slowly. Go Away as it slurping. It's just the most ridiculous possible editing method for that. It's pretty great. You know we we have time. Do you guys have one more each. If we were to do like a quick lightning round before we bring him out yeah I have. I mean I can do a quick one on cool but the third thing that I had prepared was something that was talked about a lot and QNA right afterwards which is psycho okay and the mother relationship in this movie. The main character isn't impersonating his mother and the mother is alive at the beginning and then is not but uh the keeping of the mother's corpse in the way he's arguing with the mother even though she's no longer alive and he's kind of becoming more unhinged injured maybe even because she's not alive and despite her clear craziness and forcing him to have sardines and milk. Maybe she was keeping him together in in some way so yes. Psycho was the last thing that I had you guys watch this. Yes all right uh-huh Great Nagina Andrew Great Answer Yeah. I don't know the one and this is also just like my last answer. I don't it's not something that I necessarily think would have influenced influenced Michael but it's something that I thought of when I was that the movie reminded me of an it's the movie street trash which is if you haven't seen it go watch street trash. It's one of my favorite movies but has over the over the top characters for sure exist in St Trash but it's also just the use of its just really dirty and grimy and gross at times like the St trashes for sure and I think think Michael in the head like the Sardines and milk. There's certain things that are just really off putting and gross and but like in a way that makes you smile makes me smile and speak might've gagged earnings and milk seen away yeah yeah yeah. I smiled so yeah. Definitely I've gotTA street. It made me WanNa. Watch street trash again. When I get home right on well. I'm going to do what we call. The finished puzzle which is just reading down the list of all the movies we just talked about and then we'll bring McCain out so are finished puzzle includes computer chess and we also talked about trash hampers squeeze that in there desperate living reanimator Franken Hooker Las Vegas Bloodbath Dead Alive Alive Psycho and street trash so good little list of movies there that's one hell of a student in a film festival. Maybe maybe yeah normally we would go into our closing thoughts on the regular episodes of the podcast but let's pretty Makina that we could talk to him for a little bit Michael Keane man going to disappoint a lot of people that come through for you there there you go home in Nice. I like it. I all right well. I say this I just met Michael for the first time I just before the screening and so we're not like friends going back longtime or anything so just no oh. I'm not saying this just to say this but as I was watching this movie the moment where I was like like okay. I am digging this. When you showed up characters just like definitely I was. I was I was in at that point. You know adverse great there's actually side known vern is the dumbest joke in the entire movie and it's not not because of any of the reasons you saw I DO DRAGON CON TV back in Atlanta every year and one year I did a sketch for the show because we just needed to fill time and it was about the lion sculpture actually the alliance look like lion sculptures outside of the Marriott not in the peach tree area Atlanta and the gag was that there was this guy whose name was last name was Diphu Leon uh-huh and it was really long nonsensical thing and going to put that in the movie yeah so Verna. Pouliot was born yet name got a pretty big laugh during the screening. I was glad well so let's jump in to some of these pieces we were talking talking about and then we might have a few other questions for you on the way but I mean just starting right from the top computer chess. I hadn't seen that. Have you heard about it. I remember when it was making the rounds and it sounded really good and like many of those films. I just never got around to it. Good pull Josh. Bill good good I I'm going to it's top of my cue now so it's something well what about desperate living John Desperate so I would. It's John Waters waters. It's kind of a blanket where John Waters in general has always inspired me a lot..

We also are always looking for new co host so again new to the show welcome. Let's get to the conversation all right so let's get this thing started. we are doing our first ever live episode of piecing it together podcast. I'm David Rosen for those of you who don't know me This is a movie podcast about movies in the movies that inspired them. We usually take a look at a new movie and I I have one guest on usually sometimes to and we we look at a movie and break it down and try to figure out those inspirations and it's a different kind of take on a movie podcast and with me today to talk about the head which I don't know did all all of you work on or most who are on that sure but definitely a lot of people here worked on it but we're going to be talking about it with me. We've got a regular dealer from my piecing it together podcast. We've got film critic Josh Bell. How's it going. Oh it's going well. I'm so intimidated by this large audience of people well Lou these people at this limb taping. We're going to tell everyone who worked on this movie about their own movie. Yeah think of it. We keep it nice. I think but uh-huh well also joining us is drew Marvick who is an organizer of this festival here that we're at and a filmmaker and and first time on the show also part of the cast of the head. Just you're in this mistake. It full circle yeah. It's not although I was. Jewish thanked in the credits so I guess ran out here all right all the I hope the head team will welcome welcome me into their bosom so yeah this was. I got to watch about a week ago. Josh I think you did as well and then and I just watched it again with the with the crowd. which was you know a little bit of a different experience for this kind of a movie? I mean this is definitely that kind of a movie. If you know okay me it's the kind of movie you WanNa see with crowd you WanNa you WanNa hear that audience laughing at just like the sheer ridiculousness of everything happening at this kind of you know there's a a Mazda B movies and not crazy era of of VHS based horror film and What did you guys you know. I'M GONNA go to drew for since he was in. What did you think first time you finish watching this thing. How many times have you watched it twice. Now it okay I've I've seen the film twice and I still I'm still not sure what I think so many different thoughts and emotions that go in my head everytime everytime I see it but I but I love it yeah. It is the kind of movie that I that I really enjoy. I think Michael and I have were kindred spirits in in that regard he goes way deeper than I do like his love for shot on for like. SOB shot on video films in general and horror goes super deep like we every conversation we have we start off on the same page age and then he loses me completely and and then I just feel dumb this kind of this like so I always think to myself I love this you know and then I start watching these movies like do I love this and then I I love when one grabs me and I do. I'm like okay. I'm in this one. It really actually did grab me like that like it. Just it just kept getting weirder and kept getting more ridiculous and it it it. It really leans into it so much in such a fun way. I think it is very much. Its own unique thing and and that's always appreciated. I think I mean as someone who sees a lot of movies as I'm sure we all do like it's way more interesting for me and exciting for me to watch a movie. That's unique even if not everything about it works then movie. That's barely trying and is is not anybody's vision or anything like that so absolutely yeah. I have a lot of respect for this kind of thing. Well what we do on this show as we call the movies that are the Inspirations Colin Ellen puzzle pieces. That's for those of you who have never listened before. I want to explain how it all works. We're GONNA get into some puzzle pieces now and a little bit later. film's director is GonNa. Come up and talk to us as well about those inspirations the ones that we got right in any that we may be missed along the way so with that said. Let's jump into it. let's start with Josh Josh. What do you got for your first puzzle piece. I think the post screening. QNA may have spoiled the things that we're going to talk about at least one thing that I I will mention and and also were talking a little earlier about there's there's some definite influences on this movie that I'm aware of but they're not movies that I've seen gene so. I don't know about bringing those sure yeah. I think I'm going mostly with one because I actually have. We're going to do to each year and I have more more than that but then also there are ones that I thought of that. I'm like well. I don't really know that movie that will but it certainly came to mind so I think that speaks of like what you're talking about there what I'll start start with movie that I have seen that hopefully wasn't mentioned and that is a computer chess the Andrew Vaginal ski film home and I was trying to think as I was watching this movie because this is a movie that was shot on. VHS deliberately to kind of echo a a time period and aesthetic and was were Michael went and got the actual equipment that someone might have used to make the movie like this back in the day and computer chess which is a very different kind of movie like story wise but was also set in a very very specific time in a very specific kind of world and was shot and I don't know all the technical specs on it but it's far more difficult to find than a vhs but ba Chelsea alcee found camera that was used. I forget what the brand is but it was a very narrow period of time in the eighty s and it's really hard to find and really hard to us but it was like he had to have it in order to make this movie about these characters in this it's and it's about a computer chess tournament in the eighties of these bulky old computers playing chess so that is a movie that I had seen and that had the same kind of nostalgic ish feel to it but also in a really like nerdy weird niche way very few people will understand yeah yeah yeah. I I think I'm going to ask him later about the score as well because I mean it feels at least like it's using like real classic sense on that I mean like as talking about using classic cameras seems like they're really went all in on that and so yeah and then quickly connected to that I did think of I was thinking of a recent and shot on. VHS movie which is Harmony Koreans trash hunter's knife but I think maybe has a similar similar aesthetic and tone one and everything but I have not seen it and I was even going to try to see it before this but it's not readily accessible. No wanted to bring it up anyway. What do you think about do. Have you seen computer chess. I haven't yeah I haven't seen it either. Don't trash nothing to add. Trust is charged semper similar then I I think so. It's been a while but yeah just like that like weird news. I mean I wouldn't say similar exactly but yeah definitely that aesthetic a little bit so oh yeah drew. Why don't we go into your first puzzle Jeez well. I think I mean I have. I have answers that I could give knowing Michael and being involved with the film I could give you answers that oh I think would be correct. it's games but because there aren't prizes yeah. I'm not GonNa Cheat and I and I'll say the the first film that that I was reminded of even from reading the script and hearing Michael's pitch from the beginning and then being on set and then finally seeing the film is is John Waters desperate living which is one of my favorite movies and has been for a really long time and something about the world that Michael was creating just really reminded me. I mean John Waters in general but specifically desperate living and just the the characters and the way that it's it's set in in our world or a world that that we're familiar with but but like just outside of like an area of our world where everything's just a little a little off. Inheritors are a little off and nothing is quite normal but it's it's grounded in this reality so much like in desperate living you know the cross you cross border and suddenly you are in Queen Car Ladas Land and everything's just a little. They're just a little different and that's what I felt that way with with the head yeah for sure. I I haven't seen it since like high school. It's been a long time but absolutely that that John Waters thing and and and yeah I mean it commits to it so much you know like with all that all that uniqueness so to speak. What about you who Josh. What do you think about that yeah. I was GONNA I'm John. Waters is one of the topics that I was. GonNa Mention and I actually we think someone brought up multiple maniacs in the Acuna and I was watching part of it the other day and I didn't have time to finish it and I've seen a lot of later crappier. Maybe crappier than the wrong word but sort of more sanitized any ties in mainstream. John Waters Movies Chore But I haven't seen those like early crazy out there ones but I'm familiar enough with what they're doing. Eh definitely something that I thought of watching this sure well aren't to go with my first puzzle piece. Actually have I got. I got a bunch to pick from but I'M GONNA go with a really really really obvious one because I think it's worth bringing up but that is reanimator..

"It seems like oh, they when when you've got a guy like Matt Ryan that beat up on the the week or defenses you see that sometimes as a bad sign, but the reality is if they're in that streaming bubble if you're grabbing maybe too late quarterbacks it's really nice to have the guys that actually perform against the bad defenses. 'cause those are win you're making the starts. You know? That's when when when it's the guys always surprise you. And they're like man, it looked like a bad match up, and he came out guns blazing. He's on your bench. So it's really nice. When those things lineup I want someone that can terrorize the bad defenses. Yeah. I think it's a good point. Because that that means that you can count on them in you know, in the right situation. It's almost the most reliable Mike's looking up, and he just made eye contact with Batman is still there. Batman is still there. And he's got actual glass is we gotta get these is moving. That'd be creepy. What's how about how about you want them to move on a let's rig it up to where he blinks really pronounced. When I make the wrong kind of comment like back behind me who came up to the like the gif though, the white guy blinking gift. That's what I'm saying. Well, just Batman just ashamed of you. What do you think Michael Keane thinks to this? I loves it. He loves it, doesn't he? Yeah. We're best friends. All right. Andrew luck comes in a number five, a consistency. Rank of number four. And I think the thing that stands out to me is like this was a year in which the began and people were criticizing arm strength. Oh, they brought them out. So he didn't throw the hail Mary. What's wrong with Andrew luck? And it was a slower start. It was hard to support Andrew luck. He he to his credit. He made it very difficult to support Andrew luck. But then he turned it on. Now. He only had one game all year where he was the top three guy. I believe that was week four when he had thirty five point seven fancy points. He was always right on the cusp though. He was he had eleven game. Seventy five percent of his games in that good category or better. And then only twenty five percent of his games as a bust the Andrew lucked looks like the same guy. I think that's what fantasy owners wanted to see the way he started the season made you worry, right? He missed all last year. You weren't sure. He was back in his first three. Two weeks. He pretty much sucked. I mean like outright. He had an okay week one sucked week to sucked week three and you're going. No, he's yeah. He's a waiver wire guy at that point from that point on when and you've got to keep in mind, they had a new ovens of head coach a whole new team home system for Andrew luck to get in. And they got they got it Cohen they clicked from weeks four through the rest of the season, which is still the majority. He is the only quarterback behind Pat Mahomes. He was number two in that stretch. I really think going into next year. He's a guy that we you have seen in the past with Andrew luck massive, huge monster games. You didn't really see that this year? If you add a couple of those in I take away the beginning of the season when they were trying to figure this system out. They didn't have Marla MAC. He's a top three pick for me, potentially. Yeah. No. I I agree. Here's the thing. First of all if I ever take five hundred and eighty five days off of this show. I hope you give me three shows too. To get off the rust. Okay. And second of all you get to T Y Hilton was playing injured for a good portion of this year. He's the major weapon and then offense they didn't trade for and used on in to be the number two guy until later in the season. So he made a lot out of get out of here or there Dontrelle Inman hate, no, it's not I wasn't going to Dontrelle Inman hate. I was just going to say to Hilton. He's a really good number two You know. know?.

Don't be afraid to be angry Jimmy Williams like make it angry. And I think that's a mazing just for a woman at all. Because I've never been told to get angry. In fact, if anything opposite my whole life on top of that in a song as a tender young teenager to have grown executives being like just go for it. Just get it. That's the story are the men that allowed her to I've been saying that for so many years, It's Meals catchphrase. Thank the men for every great woman there some. I real quickly.
