"As always we are presented by progressive insurance it'll focus as you know they join us on the show pencil performance line Michael it Michael junior Trey we go here with you coming up in just a little bit more to Cheryl will join us to talk about the dumpster fire that is Major League Baseball right now in his strong feelings at it without discussion ready this morning about what's going on in the NFL will get to the NBA and what may or may not be happening when the bubble environment we think begins next month or end of this month actually and all through July and hopefully through October the potential game seven of the NBA finals we also got some stuff to talk about college football Michael a junior is we have a little situation when a picture appeared with one coach in a power five conference wearing something that did not sit well with some of his players yeah my gun BR a picture surfaced of him on a fishing trip wearing a shirt bearing the logo for the one America news network you guys can use Google and find out the information that you'd like to about that is it billed as a very conservative news outlet and that did not sit well wit you Hubbard who took to Twitter and said I won't stand I won't stand for this as you heard in the open air I'm not doing any activities for Oklahoma state until there is change made here you saw a flurry of tweets from not only him but others like justice hill some former players some of the current players sort of echoing the sentiment in a lot of this and so like everything else we chewed through all of that for a while there was a lot of talk and then we'll get to about what the players in the light pole that is going on right now for guys realizing their voice but it did all roads lead to what we've all figure was eventually coming some sort of video apology for this happen quick yeah and if you want it is it is a learning because what we're seeing here is a pattern which we'll get to here in a second but all of that when it went on and then later in the afternoon yesterday the video was put out from chuba Hubbard Twitter account with him and his head coach Mike Gundy releasing a joint statement in here was that statement in response to everything that happened recently sure I was where I met some players I realize it's a very sensitive issue what's going on in today's.

"Michael would Michael junior trailing over here with you so much going on in this country positive momentum for change in how we are perceived what is and isn't true and what we the reality is we all need to face that all of us growing up did not have to face we have to recognize that other people did so much positive so so much positive momentum for the NBA the NHL college football the NFL trying to get something and get ready to go in a time or we should be watching all of these things unfolding on the diamonds across the country because Major League Baseball season is here we got nothing we got nothing got nothing from a two week we got a battle between the players and the league basically over games and over money and here to try and break it all down for us buster Olney are ESPN baseball insider buster Olney I mean listen I don't we don't even know what to say anymore what the hell is going on well here's the thing is that this now has dragged on for so long that even if they get a resolution this week and there are flickers of hope that that that might happen they've already done enormous damage to the sport the fact that they have ceded the opportunity to be the first one the only state by themselves because all these other sports have moved along and begun preparation and a lot of people are focused on the NBA and the NHL you know in the NFL that that opportunity is lost in my goodness every time there's a story or a tweet from a player or some reaction from the management side I always like to go on social media and see what the responses are you know I posted a story yesterday about the situation and the responses from fans are I'm done they lost me I've had it their dad you know that they're they're dead to me that sort of thing and while that can be overstated as one long time person the players side said to me recently it's like everybody forgot what happened in ninety four ninety five the the labor stoppage attendance dropping twenty percent after they came back TV ratings going down and that was at a time of replicative national prosperity not everything we've seen going on here both sides of incredibly tone deaf both sides have done damage the support at the state even if they were to come back busters so I will hold on to it a little bit yeah what are the please flicker us well I you know there are there is some expectation the players cited the owners will try to come to them with the proposal early in the week I I wrote yesterday that really the way that needs to be resolved if in fact they're going to get a collaborative cooperative agreement is that the owners who have the most taxes the wealthy who are the long term storage of the game they need to step out into the middle ground where neither side is really gone and make a significant concession in regards to money and if that happens then the Players Association leadership needs to recognize that it not only grab on to that and build on that is going forward but I think it's important that they are work for more than just a one time victory another words try to trade Sims that is short term financial concessions to prop up their free agency they're they're free agents this fall and next year in order to further this conversation because they one time resolution now where the players can walk away and hold up their arms again we got our money for two thousand twenty look it would only deferred the larger labor conversations need to think that what happened next spring and next year with the expiration of the CBA I've been shocked it held the big picture thinking that's been going on I thought back in April but the two sides really should be focused on a larger conversation told what's happening this year next year into the next CBA that is not taken place I I have no expectation that'll happen and it's really a missed opportunity plus for only with us this morning and buster the missed opportunity is like the nicest way we could possibly say what's happening with major label it we are seeing yet they book you're exactly right we have seen so many people reacting to what's going on in this country and realizing Hey things need to change the way we do business and the way we've handled things before are not acceptable going forward and you're telling me in the midst of all this the baseball still stuck in the way they were some twenty twenty five years ago I think so and looked at the tone deaf statements on on both sides tell you that you know Blake Snell with what he said at a time when it's that time they were over twenty million people have lost their jobs that's now over forty million people last week at a time record the chairman of the cops are like voice mail it when he K. Tom Ricketts came out and spoke last week there certainly were elements of truth in what he was talking about but in reading that the store is a great story that was done by my colleague Jesse Rogers W. shaking my head thinking wait a second are all these people lost their jobs so many people lost their lives family or dealing with loss yep protests all around the country and you have a billionaire talking about cash flow problem nope people are not going to want to hear it and that's why I you know been using this line I'll use it for you guys that the the owners the players right now are like two second cousins yelling loudly at each other in the back queue at a memorial service and everyone is looking at the mid Ferris told well it what are you doing and I I wish there'd been recognition of that and that they've been able to at least at the very least can't down their disagreement the point that they do it behind closed doors Turner ESPN MLB insider buster Olney with us here on GoLocal lingo is the cousins fight in the back of the service and buster let's take the MLBPA side of that close and equation you said going forward they've got to have a little bit more of a big picture goal in mind while you tend to be able to see better going for when you analyze what's already happened what can the baseball Players Association due to put themselves in a better position to not get in this spot again yeah I really feel like that both sides went whenever they get the resolution of what's going to happen in two thousand twenty both sides need to do an internal audit and assessment of how they got to this place that they have such a toxic destructive relationship with the other side on the players side they really have not done a full assessment of the damage that was done by their leadership in their two thousand sixteen TVA treatment they lost hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and the financial landscape and in that strategy in two thousand sixteen just it is now it's brinkmanship well maybe that doesn't work maybe there's a better way to do it in a previous labor leaders have done more of the border and talk over long term type approach I think they have to take a look at the metrics of where players salaries have gone down in recent years it on the older side look you know they they might be saying why the player so suspicious of its white why is there no trust well maybe it's because he's taking at and service time manipulation and the best example that's me I'm gonna tell you that George Springer the Astros okay his career began in bad faith he should have been called up in the summer of two thousand thirteen he had an OPS the mind leave the first round pick OPS over thousand he was killing it and he wasn't called up at the end of that that year he wasn't called up into that magic mid April date in April sixteenth would suddenly with the major league and because of that his free agency was delayed by a year he should have been a free agent last fall along with it he ran down to Strasbourg air quality should have gotten a hundred fifty to twenty million dollars well now look what's happened when he's a free agent this fall you'll never get close to getting any of that money back and if baseball were to restart think about this guys are if it were to restart in a shortened fifty game season if he plays one or two days then you would reaches free agency would anyone you don't disagree with the logic that George Springer you could you show up for a couple days and then take it to the house to protect himself against the possible injury those are the dynamics I think that the owners have contributed to with somebody to call me and that that use of metrics and things like service time manipulation like tanking so you say I mean that would be great about ordering books into matter what sort of books you give them Shyam so real quick no you gotta get get gone buster if there was a palatable number of games that the owners could give to the players for the pro rated salaries what number do you think that would end at I think it's going to be a short term season in the last the two sides truly stepped out in the middle ground it truly negotiate I would not be surprised if you wind up with something like a fifty sixty game season there is some thought that there could be grievances that it could it could stem from dance because the way this been negotiated and I wouldn't be surprised if the owners go beyond the fifty games just do it it takes a patient at that show some measure of good faith all right I do think there's going to be baseball this year and I think there's a good chance it's going to be a mess and it's going to be very passive aggressive and with the Ferris Bueller and going on on the players side well listen it's June eight days early June is running out pretty quickly we're getting into mid June here so they need to step on the gas it's going to happen buster as always we appreciate buddy thank you thank god Ferris Bueller analogy in to see the second cousins fighting in the back of a memorial service the awesome analogy you learn a lot about life in foster only has nailed.

"Michael junior trailing the we're with you a lot to unpack on yeah and where there was just so much happening across the country and we just hope everybody for a variety of reasons now is safe and home and healthy and doing whatever they need to do to keep themselves out of harm's way in a million different but you know we're gonna talk about it because it is something you can't turn an eye to it has to be talked about and there is an intersection with sports that will get to but regardless of that man that this is this is like that we can all have a say in whether it's you know with with feet on the ground at the at in Minneapolis or wherever or to voting booths later on you know this year so it all has to be talked about but certainly it does intersect with sports and there are also sports that went on and that have gone on that we have been showing as in documentaries correct yeah absolutely it is it is very interesting going back in this weekend looking at the last with the last part of the lands on lance Armstrong documentary this weekend and this one's interesting because we talked about it so much of the Jordan documentary that I was around four but I was so young seeing all of this flood back in lance Armstrong documentary specially last night about live strong about what lance's battle for cancer did not only for his status his celebrity status in making him an American hero in ways that he would have been otherwise we was just winning tour to Frances but also then how he used as a shield to cover everything but ultimately the legacy that the live strong foundation left behind which is one of an unbelievable amount of good yep yeah that that's that yeah there's a lot to get into we'll get to that in a second again of just a few moments about ten minutes or so we'll hear from our colleague Myron Mendes it's a very poignant things to say yesterday about the reaction to the death the killing of George Floyd by that Minneapolis a police officer will get to that in a minute and don't forget also Stephen A. Smith is going to host a first take your take a town hall radio special from one to three eastern on ESPN radio and ESPN news so you wanna you wanna tune into that a very very special day for things that need to be said and need to be discussed and we will have those discussions throughout the morning and how they pertain to sports no sports as you said to it my kept have athletes have decided to stand up and be heard to be counted and counting on other people to stand up and be counted on in the situation but we did have the second part of the Lance Armstrong documentary last night and for those that may be I didn't see the first part the second part was the reckoning for lack of a better term everything in the in the first part of a document built up to lance being that guy that won seven straight toward differences with the underlying mechanism of the doping that was going on and all of that and the second episode last night was where the reckoning came yeah where he was basically you know he got caught and how he got caught which was I find really interesting because we have Tyler Hamilton on the show last week who who rode with him and basically Tyler help plants won his first three quarter Frances then went out on his own thinking he could win the tour de France and as soon as he went out and won different team lance contact the authorities and said you need to check that guy because that guy is doping well that's sort of what happened to Wentz one Floyd Landis who won his tour France after glances seven straight he won his and then he got caught for doping and then he sent an email basically saying Hey man we were all doing it right and lance was doing it as well so basically Floyd did to lance what lance did the Tyler Hamilton and this is lance Armstrong talking about Floyd Landis specifically could be worse I could be Floyd Landis waking up a piece every day everything yeah that's what I know I don't think it I know it that's what I never that was realistic that this all went on right when I basically says you know green I started Mike and Mike I mean this nine nine two thousand right when we start yeah and I mean so we covered it all talked about it all the way till two thousand twelve when I got stripped away to the OPR interview and I mean this to and in the beginning everyone all of us like look at this guy over came here he fooled everybody he as Floyd Landis said about lance Armstrong he lives better then he told the truth and even talk about that lance Armstrong talked about basically how easy was how easy it was a lot what was it like looking at yourself in the mirror with no problem because I'm not I'm not justifying it or defended I'm but I'm telling you it was not a problem because it was it was just part.

"Us on the show Michael junior doing some sort of bizarre generation are on the television side check it out only if you've already had your breakfast Michael tree we go so the first two hours we started out with the stones money dance for me this was a little different what is this what do we make this to be versatile right I'll say listen to what full of fully a third of the show's subscribes to that song so that's excluding the people behind the glass really rise up as bad as they should I don't mind us being versatile yeah all right fine for thirty weeks near the top of the charts on the porch okay don't get do it bloodbath my stone my role a little more pause presented by progressive insurance telephone just joined us on the show pencil performance line coming up in just a few moments we're gonna class of the show's Doris Burke will be here to set things straight as she normally does but we've been delving deep into the rabbit hole in the Tom Brady of waters more than anything else and I proposed to you guys is there a move that bill ballot check that can can make and will preempt enforced Tom Brady's hand is there something that he could do that says Hey D. B. twelve whoa whoa whoa you do whatever you want you're out of here but I'm going to make a move first therefore forcing your hand well I mean we know it's a pretty rich free agent market quarterbacks of this young guys if you could go for hearing if you want to go the veteran route there certainly Philip rivers and we know it's now a free agent there if that might be something appealing to bill not having to go in developing young guy yet teddy Bridgewater is going to be interesting growth potential one on this one he's already guy first round cachet in this show really well in five games this year maybe he can develop back in the guide Minnesota expected when they drafted maybe god because bills always one that you grab a guy and you're like huh that was interesting Marcus Mariota thank you can make something out of my reclamation project has gotten here it's still in there too but I guess I agree with the trade for Jimmy Garoppolo's the long what we're gonna get to the agency owns the more because listen the one thing bill his bill is prepared you don't think bill is already going over scenarios well see where he was before he went to the combine he went out of Murfreesboro stood Tennessee Tennessee state to work out a a defensive end the was invited to the combine in the rain I mean you're right he is going to be going through of all of us and I you know I know where you're going to go now do they trade for Jimmy Garoppolo's to just kind of started the ball right you're saying trade without because the old conversation around San Francisco San Francisco New England had been the swap mmhm just say trade rapport you're saying what do you what do you throw it out what okay listen the here's here's the thing right because again bill if for those that don't know I don't think they'll ever wanted to trade Jimmy Garoppolo he wanted to keep him there he had a succession plan in place so we would be coaching and tries not yeah we all think that was him taking the L. the Kraft and Brady and their love there so he basically called the Niners and said you can adverse economic mystified taken so took a second round pick to get him away from doing on what would it take for it to get him out of San Francisco let let let's let's first before we go down that road why would San Francisco due to well it's a very rich free agent market who and what are you going to get for getting Tom Brady could you don't know who you're going to get correct who you're picking that that you were taken he has questions yeah what were you gonna get so you're saying although all by the way you're doing this without insurance you get Tom right right but you could you know we can get you could get Tom Brady okay but so you're never just going to roll the dice I'm not saying no that's exactly what they were going down the rabbit hole here okay if we're gonna go down the rabbit hole the damage explanation as why San Francisco would do that we traded Jimmy we have no assurances regarding time and now we were in the Super Bowl with a Super Bowl with a quarterback who is in the Super Bowl and now we have no quarterback well did I mean the thought process would have to be you think any number of these quarterbacks in the free agent market would be an upgrade over what you have is that true well let's well listen let's be honest about couple things the way the San Francisco forty Niners are constructed I mean I feel like a lot of quarterbacks could've done with Jimmy G. did last year I mean they essentially went through other three quarters of their playoff run and told him don't pass the ball right I mean that's essentially what they did they rented seven thousand straight times against Green Bay and they also after that interception to Eric Kendricks in the divisional round they basically threw it four times I just find it hard to believe in fact I don't believe it that they were trade without having another quarterback in just say well hope we get this guy I don't see it but we can continue to play your game I mean it's fun right I mean you know Kyle Shanahan's comments after the war where I feel the same way about Jimmy G. than I did before the game and you're right a follow up question was not asked tell us specifically how you felt about it before the game is that those governments could be interpreted a bunch of different ways and I just trade the way that your framing this if the Niners did trade Jimmy before the idea of Brady in a sign and trade you could get more out of it because you could end up with Tom Brady and maybe ask New England for a first in exchange is an egg in a quarterback rich draft in a very rich free agent well of course a quarter of a quarterback a quarterback reaching guys that are talented but maybe it could be something given the right to liberty if you're Kyle Shanahan I've overwhelming confidence in myself to say I could take an arm like Herbert eastern or love and make that into something because I am such a qualified we're also talking about those quarterbacks going in the top ten they get the twenty third pick correct so it's not like they're getting high the the issue here is it let's look at the team in San Francisco is how they are presently constructed I think we all agree they have an exceptional running game and they do it in a variety of different ways right right we know that to be closed for most creative run game in the NFL outside of Baltimore correct we also have a bridge ticket was really good tight end we have a really good offensive line now there may be some movement there what's going to happen there but I think that line's going to be at at best better than average that line was great despite playing large portions of its year without its two starting tackles with Aronian guys influx Weston Richburg was injured for a lot Ben garland played a lot of the end of the season including their Super Bowl right so now we throw in all that with a front seven that they may lose one of those guys in free agency but they're gonna have a rotation of five or six guys on that front so they'll play an eight a secondary that is backed up by real is denying the talent on that team so the question is really saying here let's get a question mark at our quarterback position by trading Jimmy G. away and hope to figure it out hope to sign somebody you know let me tell you what if you're gonna do that you better so we can legally be talking behind the scenes about who your going to scientific that's happening all over but that's my point you better be doing that and you better be ready and know exactly what quarterback you want to get and you better know you can get that would be only kick in once more and again not knowing we're doing this on the premise that bill is trying to force Tom's hand that right that's the whole premise of this conversation if if you're the Niners right now they're doing for you Ryan Tannehill region the gravel notoriety in hell was for the entire in the regular season he played very well he was not the same guy to play certain certainly not but neither was Jimmy J. he was a guy who did very well in certain spots in the regular season thing going back to the same quarter five forty two AM the game was a forty so whatever is it was it was going fast in the exotic in the game winning drive with a big plate of George Kael so Russ just as I guess a ranking him amongst this year's free agent class is an interesting proposition because I think that was always part of this was you kind of look at the Niners and say if you're going to make an improvement in one spot quarterback might be the pick right you tell me any free agent out there so I don't know what you want I'm not I'm not taken him over Jimmy G. Tabor drug five L. as a backup I think teddy Bridgewater Bridgewater is still a project I mean you always should be okay but you know what Jimmy did through a little bit last year to twenty seven touchdowns and a teddy Bridgewater when he was starting everything more than fourteen okay I mean so I think is interesting is I think DM it leads to me in the way I've got in my brain teddy Bridgewater Jimmy Garoppolo's look closer I'd I'd been almost anyone else in the so now you've got a you've got a a team friendly deal that has Jimmy Garoppolo's and you're basically juggling between him and teddy Bridgewater and you're going to have to pay teddy Bridgewater more than you play Jimmy Garoppolo's not not yeah you don't you don't think other teams are going to want to Bridgewater does your price it goes up so this is a great company they're the closest as far as what you get player wise what you do and what you could potentially do deal wise to me that's just the devil you know versus the one you don't correct how much is how much the value of newness to you an exaggeration we're crouching ahead and maybe you're a bit frustrated plus you get capital was Woodridge Megyn gases to exactly it's just and and here's the last of all we move on because we have one of the greatest because of all time waiting for a ridiculous conversation and are fine researcher Henry put together some really good notes about Tom Brady and you can interpret this anyway you want because yes the wide receiver problems worse problems that were there yes they had office of line issues but Tom Brady last season total QBR fifty four worst ever since we've had the metric in two thousand six twenty four touchdown passes his lowest total since two thousand six yards per attempt very interesting six point six were since two thousand two completion percentage sixty one percent were since twenty thirteen this is there's no doubt the old line and lack of when he lost Gordon and a Los Angeles brown or brown that hurt him but he also still isn't the quarterback also after you say is the goal he isn't that anymore that's why you need a good running game and a great tight end George Kittle okay so we'll have that discussion a little bit later meanwhile let's go back to reality and bring in our fine friend our hall of Famer our NBA analyst Doris Burke who joins us now on the shell pencil performance live okay you were there you saw Luka versus Iran last night what were your impressions of those two as the potential future the leak and maybe more importantly what we saw out of Dodger to again is doing these triple double things faster than anyone has ever done it in a Mavericks uniform yeah I mean there is a.

"Voges joint is on the show opens on performance on Michael junior trailing away with you what is this Major League Baseball Vegas has slowed down a bit it is is a fired the landfill and you try you go on vacation for a couple weeks you come back in well it'll still smells like burning trash yeah I don't want to be one of burning rubber tires all over the place and continues to get bigger as it just seems like everyone when they're trying to talk about this finds ways to make it worse for what did and maybe more specifically junior what didn't happen yup times of the Houston Astros rob Manfred not punishing the players had to go after immunity there there are things along the way that are understandable right and I think had this been handled better by everybody involved and it started with the Astros in Jim crane and the players coming out and living an apology that was not believable in was inconsistent and seemed hollow with his own words with with his own words used in the commissioner's report as a shield and now we've been getting to the point where the commissioner had to speak up a boy oh boy did he come out with the I I mean it felt tepid at best the response it did not come out and condemn the people that were easy to condemn and so when you lose that you lose the crowd you use your free and then of course he misspoke horribly about the trophy the World Series trophy calling it a piece of metal so bad that he had to actually apologize for that which was absolutely the right thing to do but still just I mean people understand I mean people are passionate about their sports I meet lebron James lebron James of all people is tweeting about it and you pointed out this is stupidly junior this morning it might be the single greatest line in the history of any tweet ever all right it's it's such a dad tweet by lebron James first and foremost he said listen I know I don't play baseball but I am in sports stop right there let's just over there I am in sports brick wall and we we just confirm breaking.

S. bigger things to worry about that is a real story I'm just waiting for the moment when Joe judge my feel frustrated with management and he just looks at Jason Garrett and chasing care just because you don't even know the half of it and all my got everything in perspective like you know what you're right thank you for that he's got to find somebody he can trust it has a good enough relationship with them to walk and we like him and not this fight this fight doesn't matter because you also remember that he's been around Belichick well what happens when you've been around somebody that's been stable in an organization for a long time the person is rhythm the person is wraps that has followed as understanding it's hard to get that it's hard to get a real that any of us when you take a new job when you get a promotion when you get a new level and your employer the hardest thing to find is a rhythm on how you're gonna do it you can plan that all day long how I can plan first take your take all day long I got to get in the chair I got to fill it out right Joe judges got to get the chair fill it up he need somebody in his circle that he can trust it's been there before they can look at him and say Hey not this fight this one doesn't matter he's somebody he can trust they can help keep the staff together if he's having an issue I need somebody in the building that he can trust they can help him guide him in the moment while he's in the in the thick of it and you know yes all of these guys have a circle they have an inner circle people they can text Heavener circle people they can call they can get advice from but it's not just about that it's about in the moment having somebody they can pull you aside and tell you it's hard to hear having somebody they can they can look at you and say Hey man behind closed doors say Hey opportunity here or keep an eye on this and at the same time it's a huge win for chasing here going away won't help chasing Kerr chasing you're gonna go somewhere where he can have success it is only gonna have to have success for a year or two before his record well then again be loud and he will certainly be a head coach in Canada it's inevitable some thought it was gonna be head coaching candidate this year so if you're chasing Gary you have the opportunity to go work in the biggest media market you have the opportunity to go exacted revenge on the cowboys you have the opportunity to work with a quarterback that's gonna get paid like he's one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL in very well may likely be one you're also going to work with a generational talent a running back you've got other weapons on offense wide receiver tridentata played well at times and you have the fourth overall pick in the draft which means that this is a message I'm gonna say to all of you a million times I'm not talking about the first round for once you have the fourth overall pick in every round of the draft so for example if you want to go and get yourself a wide receiver you are basically your few pics removed from the first round the top of the second round is like having an additional first drop the giants are in an amazing opportunity to pick up weapons working with quarterback that if he believes in his young is gonna get all the ammunition he needs this is a perfect situation for chasing here Hey Jason Garrett can craft an offense and help Joe judge in the process it's a win for Joe judge it's a win for the giants it's a win for chasing get that's why this of any higher that we've seen from any coordinator could be the best tire that we see from any new head coach first and last on ESPN radio we're just getting started the guys are gonna keep breaking down the ever evolving sign stealing scandal baseball and of course to return as I and that's coming up don't miss it the local lingo coming up next thanks for hanging out with us on first and last on ESPN radio on Jay some facts there is no way on god's green earth I ever would've gone public with that of our my fire situation but there is zero chance zero chance I would gone public with this can we go.

The Suitcase Murder

"Welcome to hurry. I'm Jill and I'm Dick the bill and Melanie McGuire were an attractive couple in their thirties. They had two young sons to successful careers and they just disclosed and a five hundred thousand dollar home when bill disappeared. Melanie told their friends that they had fought on the night when they closed on their new home bill bill had physically attacked her and walked out telling her he was done with her buildings seem like the type of guy who would hit his wife and lead his children behind but Melanie insisted that he had hit her and walked out on his family. She even went to court and took out a restraining order against bill as the days passed did no one heard from bill. Melanie appeared to be moving on with her life without him but bills family and friends were worried bill had been a gambler may get pissed off the wrong people then a bizarre story got everyone's attention. I A Kenneth Cole suitcase was found in Virginia Beach and it contained aimed a pair of bloodless male human legs that had been severed at the knees one week later Virginia Beach Police recovered a second suitcase that was part of the same in Kenneth Cole set it held a five pound weight black trash bags and more human remains this time it was a man's head in torso but here this man was and when he had been killed were still unknown then the third last suitcase was recovered within two weeks it contains the man's hips and thighs. Virginia Beach Police launched an extensive investigation to identify the victim and identified him as Bill McGuire join us at the quiet in today for a very haunting case that became known as the suitcase murder well respected fertility nurse Melanie he McGuire was accused of her husband's murder and dismemberment and she faced life in prison. Although her attorney would argue her innocence a complex unraveling reveling of the facts would reveal a twisted murder plot which grew from infidelity greed and hate New Jersey case means new New Jersey near yeah figured I'm assuming she killed him in New Jersey. That's the belief yes. She didn't dump his body parts in New Jersey. I don't think now aw but the killing was done so I picked a beer called head high which is brewed by Kane Brewing Company in Ocean New Jersey Far Southern Jersey assist the shore head high is an American. It A in at six point six percent alcohol by volume pretty nice beer hazy orange colour. You're a whitehead some pretty lace aroma of citrus and pine. We have a citrus taste upfront grapefruit and tangerine primarily then some pine nine overlaps and Caramel Mo- nicely hop beer good bitterness the nice beer more vo west coast. IPA TRY IT. That sounds Cilicia. I love that kind of beer. This is your Beer Jill. Yes okay. Let's open that up right away. All right lead the way why down to the quiet end in you can begin our story. Bill McGuire was born in nineteen sixty four in river edge. New Jersey the two older sisters his father worked as a pressman for the New York. Times and his mother stayed home with kids. A billy was the baby of the family family. He got a lot of attention. Here's a cute but very rambunctious kid now when he was four years old his parents divorced bill's mother had to take a job to support the children so she worked the night shift wild bill's oldest sister. Cindy babysat her siblings the Mon- Work Six nights a week so Sunday began to feel like she was a second mother to Bill Leeann. I think bill really looked at her that way even as an adult or you're she had a very maternal influence on his life and when bill was twelve his sister. Cindy moved out and married a guy named bill. Gosh he was an older man who was a pharmacist first and then bills other sister. Nancy moved out as well. Their parents had divorced and remarried a few times so it was very unstable. Environment Sir remarried controller yes back and forth while and Nancy would later accused their father of sexually abusing her too so there's a lot going on in the home sounds work so bill went to Catholic school and he was a decent B. Student. He was quite outgoing and a lot of friends when he was just fifteen ran ran away from home and went to live with Cindy and her husband and he did live with them for a while but eventually left after not following all of her household rules because Cindy was strict then after that he went to his sister Nancy but she didn't have room for him so for awhile bill lived with his high school coach and then he lived with the family of one of his best friends so this is kind of a hard scrabble life he had in his teens assurances. Just been a Roman around yeah. Yeah doesn't have any stability really not much now and we're not really sure what was going on in the home that he felt like he had to run away but it was probably tumultuous between the parents. I mean just the fact that they were together the not together then together the not together. I mean that's that's in stable ripple enough her unstable enough by itself. Yes absolutely so bill was living with his friend. Lenny and his parents and Lenny's twelve year old sister Marcie Darcy got a really big crush on bill so after graduating in nineteen eighty two bill joined the navy thought it would give him some direction in life leaving both his high school girlfriend behind and young Marcy. He broke two hearts when he left the navy bill made friends with a guy named Joe Rice Ace. He was another recruit who was three years older at first. Joe Thought that bill was kind of obnoxious because he was always showing off and telling jokes but then the two men eventually became close friends and bill was very well dressed and bought himself a Camaro which he shouldn't have been able to afford he would admit to Joe that he was opening up checking accounts in fake names and writing bad checks in order to finance the lifestyle that he wanted to live Marino. I got certain needs in my life. I'm just gonNA write checks. I think that's the way he looked at it and remember this is a guy who didn't have much guidance right and he he was really taken with having things that he had had growing up so not to make excuses because it really wasn't a good thing to do of course of course yeah but now that's what he did so in nineteen eighty five. I guess he's been in the service for about three years at this point bill's girlfriend from back home. Lisa flew down in Norfolk to Sam on a weekend. Leave a few months later bill visit Lisa in Vernon New Jersey but their relationship came to an end over well he was in New Jersey Bill. Marcy asked her out on a date and then he and Marcie gradually became a couple and kept in touch with pitcher yes so after Joe Rice married his girlfriend he told bill about how much more money would be making his naval marriage benefits his income nearly doubled after near his girlfriend and then it wasn't too long after that when bill decided to ask Marcie Mary him so a lot of people thought bill just did that to make more money. Let's the impression absolutely his buddies. Tahoe are almost doubled my income so bill's Franken. That's brewing right. We'll marcy was younger though she just graduated from high school but she was very very taken with bill and she accepted did his proposal and she moved down to Virginia to live with bill and to go to College Marsin Bill secretly married in a civil ceremony and then they moved into into a one bedroom apartment together nineteen ninety bill left the navy after earning his associate's degree from tidewater Community College Bill Dylan Marcy Move to Edison New Jersey and he started attending rutgers university where he was going to study pharmacology bill and Marcy moved into an apartment and both took jobs in local restaurants to pay the bills but bill is unhappy then he wanted to split up nineteen ninety two he left. Marcy surprised her. I guess pretty much broker heart 'cause the next two years. She tried to win him back but bill never looked back at Marcy. Who's WHO's dating new women again almost right away after the break-up yeah he had already really checked out of the marriage and then in the summer of nineteen ninety four for a friend of bills introduced him to Melanie slate. The two were attracted to each other and they seem to have a lot in common. They seem to really make a good match. Watch so a little bit about Melanie. Melanie Lynn slate was born in nineteen seventy two in Ridgewood New Jersey. Her father left her mother. When Melanie Melanie was still a baby and then he died a few years later from cancer. Melanie's mother Linda moved back into her appearance on with her daughter and Melanie's Janis Aunts and grandmother helped to raise her her mother. Linda can you to her secretarial job in Manhattan and that's where she began having an affair with her boss Michael Caporetto and that would last for years and Years Melanie grew up beside Michael Cap narrows son Michael Junior and and when Captain Aero finally left his wife he and his son moved in with Linda Melanie but it certainly wasn't the ideal childhood. Her doesn't sound black. Does it now so the kids would go along with Lyndon Michael when they went to Atlantic City Michael Junior and Melanie. You were usually left alone in hotel. Rooms are pretty lengthy times while appearance gambled Michael Senior was such a high stakes gambler learn they were often given comte hotel suites in room service for the children. SA- gambling really can be a serious addiction. WHOA course I've never never really known anyone that has it by Sir with sound of surprise well after I read about this I looked into some other issues with that and children and there is a problem in Atlantic City and Las Vegas of people just Kinda dumping their kids and running off to gamble for days at a time were very often read stories about the type of thing apparent has come the gamble and just dump the kids somewhere. You're gives them a few dollars. Say go under around how fine the gamble one. I think forget about their kids. They get so involved in it because there have been instances was reading about where children have been molested or even kidnapped napped. You know little girls using the restroom in a casino by themselves ECORSE. That's not why s- some horrible things have happened because of this so the only thing I can think is it must be a very strong addiction like drugs for people to leave their kids like that sure immune. A lot of these people are normally holly good parents but this is how Michael and Melanie grew up with a lot of that now even though their parents had some money and they were comps suites they were still abandoned on their own so they became very self sufficient these kids. I guess that's the good part about it. Melanie was really an excellent student and issue reached her teens. She was a beautiful girl. She had long wavy brown hair and a petite figure. She became very self confident and was very flirtatious with the boys at school. Some of the other girls disliked her but melanie had an outward kind. Mr Mr Personality too and she often took weaker girls under her weighing in offered advice on advice and support now. She is an attractive woman you you compare it to an actress. who was that well at Harry? I just mentioned that she looked like what's her name. Marielle and Muster Antonio Veterinary Curry something master Antonio Okay so an actress from like the eighties here yeah yes so she's a good looking woman and she had a lot of freedom when she she was a teenager so that could be a bad combination all this free of within attractive teenage girl she last virginity on a trip to Mexico when she was just thirteen eighteen years old because she and Michael Junior were going out to nightclubs and bars they were just on their own on these vacations so she hooked up with with a Lerman lost her virginity at a young age and then Melanie also began to gamble and she became promiscuous. She slept with older teens when young men who buttered gifts and took her out to fancy restaurants. She was almost like an escort in her teens with some of these older guys and she was his proud of it. She bragged about having affairs with two of her married high schoolteachers as well something to brag about. Isn't it on your teenage girl. You don't the better chance right.

Patriots C Andrews' season in jeopardy

"Serious health news for the patriots one of the team's captain starting center David answers as blood clots in his lungs is twenty nineteen season now in jeopardy league sources have confirmed to ESPN's Mike Reiss he was hospitalized well growing undergoing tests to pinpoint the cause of the clouds on a positive note he reportedly was released from the hospital Monday night he did put twenty eight snaps in the patriots preseason win over the Panthers on Thursday night wasn't a practice the past couple of days top back up Sir for your veterans that take cares and James variance between the two of them you're talking about sixty eight career games but only five starts Michael junior I was guilty with offense of line what's the impact of this in your mind for the patriots I I think it's certainly concerning because of what the position of center usually occupies for most line it's a communicator it's someone who works hand in hand with the quarterback and listen it's a relationship was not documented all the time I feel like Peyton manning and Jeff Saturday night modern era really were that one where the show tomorrow we did pieces on them watching film together it's a very valuable relationship and as Tom Brady gets up there I'm sure the last change the better an offense that seems to thrive in it they have one of the better off ends of lines in the NFL and took a hit there's no question here you want the best for his health at the first and foremost of without worry about it but for the patriots on the field this is going to be an adjustment teddy keris is been a backup swing guy there for the last couple of years now but that's for a reason yeah you get comfortable right yeah eggs especially if you're craving know you're one of the greatest ever in Tom Brady you so there's a comfort level the same guy in front of all by the way his career Andrews has been won AAC championship game and the rest Super Bowl correct in five years yeah it's been amazing to leave a bowl and blood clots when you just don't mess with it all you do not throwing a whole ism and that could enjoy like me and that's that's house that is again out of the realm of that you know in the end goal type injury this is like whoa hold on I mean that's what killed their Thomas yeah I mean after the car crash he it was a blood clot and they didn't catch it and that's what that that's literally killed him so you you can not mess with that stuff when it comes to that so first and foremost we hope his health is okay and then we'll figure out from there with the

"For trade window the next Michael junior I will pack is gone by one ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky given us the straight talk right to my straight talk wireless everything for less only Walmart blood brothers lets go of my hand and I'll be ready but you won't legal your card to do that not me though no I mean well cut yourself I have your phone number it's not as exciting of their car text me at some point says what's up buddy no just a hint there text me anytime car car ordered neither one I'm overly shelling I make no no one's about it god a little awkward the the every single day and gave chase and one JZ goes yeah maybe terror Carlson be assigned during the game looked like one where he is looking for a restraining order now for Jason fits the key do you like on that side of the little I grabbed the year just like I'm watching for tonight you watch it's going to happen I'm gonna freeze frame it all it's going to be a doctor to a light can treat I I'm I'm not the smartest person the world but I am one hundred percent confident that is not going to happen a lot less that's fast so that's not going to happen but heading into week two NFL preseason we got a lot of teams getting ready to start but I feel like the level of love the jays and has for Derek Carr is the way you feel about Sam Donald right now so what's got you so stoked about him going into this season going into week to this well I mean it's a combination of like you look at the way he ended last year and in many ways is one of the better quarterbacks that last five or six games of the season and it's not it didn't happen by accident it was the fact of okay he played and then he said he's been out spoken of learning from Josh McCown right and then like you get the up to just watch guys and learn a little bit and not have the pressure of okay I gotta go win a game and then so he has a really good performance at the end of the year and you go to the sauces in every single thing you heard about this off season and his performances like raver review after ray review after ray review and then you go into the game the other night and it's just like you get to watch him do things that we don't see a ton of quarterbacks do like it's almost like watching like this really good soccer or basketball player play quarter but explosive and then the ability to throw you know it's like the movement skills are so cool and then everyone is focused this year on may have your bell and rightfully so I get that but really two things like stood out to me for the team were one the office of line played really strong which strong they were markedly better than they were I know it's a drive preseason all stuff like that is it still a a positive and progressive sign and a Jamison Crowder I weave under valued the importance of Jamison Crowder to him and and what he'll give Donald okay first down I want to completion it zone crowd is going to find his own somewhere on this concept is man it's third down who can I trust the women man so if Crowder stays healthy I expect Sam to have a great year and and the the I'm so excited because he's exciting to watch like it's it's an exciting exciting style of football teams like watching Steve Nash play basketball we're talking ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky on goal can we go Jason fits Michael junior I so want to switch to another quarterback that there's there's like there's a battle okay honestly between the local coverage and the national coverage on Marcus Mario the local side is convinced that there is absolutely zero chance people around the team there to cover it zero chance the Marcus Mariota is not the started going in nationally indictment Diana recently reported yesterday that there's a battle that there is a quarterback competition going on you watch so much of these quarterbacks where are you a markets Morial I've been outspoken about the last eighteen months that a my support of Marcus Mariota because he's out Smith who was fifteen years ago I mean different culture beer different scheme every year different offense every like all these changes it is impossible to be successful that being said if you look at his performance over the last forty games or something like that thirty games he's as pedestrian as he gets like just as many pixies touchdowns just as many losses as winds and again I understand it the variables outside of them have been on fair but there is the reality of it is well in that in in there's nothing that says it's going to change I'm not gonna sit here and tell you it's a quarterback competition all that stuff when I am going to say is this the other night one guy looked relatively capable of playing starting quarterback football in the NFL and one guy didn't the guy who did was Tenney hill and the guy who did it was markets and that's just the reality in my point is this Mike Rabal does not care what your draft status is what you mean to the organization and in the past that he doesn't care he's going to play the guy that will allow him to win with defense and special teams that's true very bulls gonna be and if ten held has another good solid performance and market struggles against are we really going to sit here and be shocked going into week three the preseason if we're able goes on to give ten held the start are we gonna be shocked by that are we gonna sit here and cry that it's unfair no because at the end of the day the result is what the result is and we I would argue that tenet hell when healthy has been just as good of a quarterback is mark Mario to what he's been healthy yeah and I think that's one of the things they're very similar in the sample size it's in skewed by coaching turnover constant influx of offense of coordinator is an injury and so getting an extended look at a guy like Ryan Tannehill's probably long overdue in a new setting like this general laughter with us in studio our ESPN college and NFL analyst here wanted to get your opinion on another guy with Jeff Darlington here yesterday in a lot of talk band about dak Prescott in the contract ask them to go she agent and he said the number that we kind of start to your whittled down now is thirty four million he wants to be paid just more than Carson Wentz in that last contract when you hear that number I see you smirking now would that be something paying him that kind of money the cowboys regret absolutely because you don't get in trouble in the NFL paying great players great player money you get in trouble by paying good players great player money Jack is being good twenty two touchdowns twenty three touchdowns twenty two touchdowns then nothing about that screams great I'm a believer that Jack should get paid something I've got to kind of things that I've been thinking about when it comes this situation I want to first use an analogy for like the Jack in the world right think about starting a fire right we all or most of us start fires the duraflame log and then a bunch of the logs Zeke is your duraflame log he's going to be your fire starter he's got a lot of your started to get bigger your fire to get bigger and it's gonna burn longer because of Zeke Jack is important he's a P. is another log the concern is a piece of wood that gets thrown on the fire can burn without him but it's gonna take longer to start a fire and eventually it'll burn off with that that's the difference between those two players and paying them one of the other I have the big question with the the whole Jack in Carson Wentz conversation okay so every sign has pointed for Jack to be the guy that should have been paid first where he was drafted performance leverage he has on the team Jack should have been paid by now Carson once where he was drafted performance basic results say he should not have been drafted by now then why has one been paid in Carson when he in many res in many ways you could have justified not paying him and one not having been paid yet and that stack in for so many variables you should have paid him by now that is a real question that no one's asking and the reality is because numbers don't always we always hear numbers don't tell the whole story and at some point you have to be able to look at a guy and go that guy is the reason we are where we are and that guy is part of the equation you're insane and that's the difference I would not pay deck one in Carson before let me let you go real quick if you had to make the choice between overpaying Jack by let's say five million dollars a year or letting him walk and just taking a risk with the new quarterback are you really willing to let doc walk with my head coach Jason Garrett I would Hey yeah I would not overpay I would not overpay for dak Prescott because then my expectations of him are unfair and I and that's that's that's the problem that some NFL teams make you guys can follow on Twitter at Dan Orlovsky seven we say it all the time nobody does better breakdowns on quarterbacks check out the the work all over the networks and we appreciate your time hanging out this morning coming up next can Ohio state actually trademark the word the Michael junior has not been involved in the show at all of this when you sit in scaring the internet we have actual answers for you will get to it next to look and went "Jason Fitz in portrays it with Mike Golic, Michael junior your level of excitement is that you to realize that it's a superhero movies. So things are going to blow up and the good guys are going to win. Right. Like, I just don't I just hope. I could do without some of the ant man theories of gone around the internet. Let's just stay away from that one. But. Very excited. I am looking forward to it L honesty. But I am looking forward to the draft. I so for you guys. When is the first surprise whether by person pick not pick or trade that you guys think will happen. I mean, I genuinely I don't think is going to be the first overall pick. And I know everybody else that would be the biggest. I industry I wouldn't do it. I would not do a drive column. I keep Josh Rosen. But I don't think that's going to happen. But that would to me would be. And then if if that's not going to be is going to be the jets trading down is it going to be Oakland trading down. Or is it going to be Washington? Trading up into the top five if they really wanna quarterback. I think it's Oakland because whatever the jets do want surprise me. We had with us before said the worst kept secret in the world right now is that the jets wanna trade down in this draft? But if they took quitting Williams, none of us. It'd be all that surprised either. Obvious picks in the top three. What's going to surprise me? Whatever the raiders do just because starting at four they controlled to keep using this reference, but they had the most 0 stones on the table right now, you've got three first round picks and front office. That right now seems like it's kind of a volatile place. I I really I mean, I know maybe I'm just dying on a hill for no reason. But I disagree with everybody. I don't think they Kyla Mary goes I overall. And I think that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers absolutely should be in the market for a quarterback. So to me, I think the biggest prize in the top five is Kylie doesn't go first overall. But the Tampa Bay gets into the quarterback play. That's why I am while. On landing. Devon, Devon white. Yeah. They're definitely getting defense..

"Michael junior. Trey wingo with you one championship in the books. Another one we'll be in the books tonight. Baylor is the women's champion in college basketball and tonight, either Texas Tech or watt who Virginia will be nicely because both last night, both coaches, we're going for their third national championship. So both experience here tonight as we've mentioned I in either school history. So pretty cool to be a I hear a lot to play for and really really looking forward to it outside of the start time of the game. Yeah. No. That's the one thing. I really wish I get. It's on a Sunday different. The women's title starting at six PM eastern last night when a godsend eight twenty one win that game was over and realizing I still had plenty of time to sit around and get laundry before very Cavaliers started. I was thrilled. Wait, wait. What a joy. Wait. Wait. Wait. What what? Was it very. Title game ended at eight one eight very capillary starts Tennyson Cavalieri. We understand, you know, it's the name is her name is on the show. But it's the Jay Cutler show. Came back into town. Jay got really bowling who among us was not gotten way too drunk Boeing cast the first when he saves it all being the sweetest husband ever, the guy just gets they live in Nashville now, and we're going to be a national for the draft. And I know we're going to get a bunch of football like draft people on there. That's what we do. But the biggest got for us. If we Jay Cutler Jay Kristen together, we need to get him out. Does that we've got to do we will plug undesired nightmare. This is my night. We're going on common James percent. Can't wait this this, man. What a what a treat. We've got. You thought you were just going to go to get the VIP draft with us when you win the goal can win go contest. But man, you could have a chance to get some jewellery out of it too. There you go. Meanwhile, sports. So we got that championship game tonight. Virginia defense, you know, losses one to go. Yeah. Actually, play drop. And then you have Texas Tech also eight. A lockdown squad on defense. We had Jay Bilas earlier with us. And he said look understand what's going on. This will be a battle of attrition and points. We'll be at a premium all this stuff about slow pace and low scoring. It's not like we're back in the late seventies where there's no shot clock. And and you know, there's no three point shot. I mean that was a different era. These guys can't play fast. They can't put points up. I think it's going to be low scoring just because these two teams are so good defensively. But I don't think we're gonna see either team holding all they're gonna try to score. Well, that's the key. They're going to try to score. The question is how much do we all believe they're actually going to? I mean, I think it goes into it with low expectations and take the players out. They don't care. They're out there trying to trying to win. I mean, which is exactly what they should be doing look at two years ago, North Carolina and Gonzaga and the title game. And then last year Villanova in Michigan two years ago. There were twenty three and a half million last year. Sixteen million right in that area dropped twenty seven percent. And there are those this rating will be lowered tonight. I we we've been getting good games in this tournament. We really everybody thought that Auburn Auburn in Virginia game was going to be a dog game. What a what a game that was. So I I'm really looking forward to it. But I do think it from perception has a low bar jump over which could be good. We're everyone's kind of expecting. Oh, what are we going to get? We get one hell of a game. I keep pointing back to is since the elite eight the games have been great like they've been really entertaining games. And that's what this is all about like you look what we had in the Super Bowl Tom Brady and the patriots against a hot young team from Los Angeles. And the game was an absolute dud. Like it was just a game. It was a slow char- a defensive battle. But really just lacked any sort of compelling offense in that game despite the characters involve and so the ratings were bad because it was game. That was largely entertaining. This game has teams involved that are looking for. Their first title that don't have a lot of the sexy names we've seen from college basketball. But if the game play is good like it's been for a while people are gonna watch. Well, listen, there's one guy out there. I know who doesn't care whether the game is good as long as it goes the way he wants it to remember that story about the guy who had the bet right? Three hundred thousand Texas Tech winning at all somebody offered him out. I think prop swap was. Yeah. Well, he was asking for he was asking for he he had fifteen hundred dollars in November two thousand eighteen on Texas equity in the title. The payout would have been three hundred thousand dollars and this this betting site. He was asking sixty five thousand apparently got up to one hundred twenty five thousand now on this. And he turned it down. So he let it right. So he let it. All right. Let. Like, I said it was like dealer not exactly he had guaranteed money in hand. And he said I've gone this far my light at one more game. So he's got a chance now for that prop at the payoff fifteen hundred to three hundred thousand bucks tonight. That's impressive not to she has very very if you Mr. interview with Jay Bilas. Why would you.

"ESPN two Jason Fitz and Michael junior infra trae might by the way trade by the way, Mike junior. You will someday learn what it here's what it feels like to hear the word four at the end of the statement, ULA. Great for that's when you know, you're getting older like when you're like, oh, you look great for seventy eight. That's when you know like you haven't gotten there yet. But when that happens. Oof. Takes the takes the wind. Daddy. I don't know, man. I'm someone who gets told very often than I look older than my own father. Who was a fifty six year old man compared to my twenty nine year old body face and most importantly hairline, I feel like I've got some expertise in the area. That's probably true. So obviously on all the rage, and we talked so much about I on. And do we're not the only one talking about Davos weaning, Clemson, head football coach. I think he's had a pretty good year. So far. I mean, it seems like things have gone well, and he was on coach K's Sirius XM's show and was asked about a star-studded freshman and asked about you know, sort of his team, and he came back, and let us all know that he's pretty impressed with coach case freshman as well. The only guy that I think with could be better than him as a freshman his desire on kids. You got. Heidi and or white out or dead or where he wanted to play with him. Back you'd run the wildcat you'd run the wildcat. But in the wildcat out Zaim Williamson versus Trevor Lawrence for your quarterback who you want. Yeah. I think I know who I'm still going with this one. But if you have Zion bearing down on Trevor Lawrence now, we got a party now that looks a little bit more like the national championship game that we saw not too long ago. The interesting part about this is these kind of comments are exactly how we get situations. Like what we've got going on in the NFL right now. We're cliff Kingsbury says ingest talking about a guy he's getting ready to play. I would absolutely take Kyla Murray. Number one overall. And here you've got the same thing going on there where he's on coach K's show, and he's buttering them up. And he goes, you only person I'd like to have more than that. And now all of a sudden, we're talking about college free agency in Tableau Swinney, tampering with basketball players now, and our coach is going to have to recruit and other sports in order to get a leg up in this world of competitive recruiting this how it all starts, well, but that's inevitable. Anyway. Right. Like this college free agency conversation for anyone that doesn't know this. They've changed some of the ways to college football transfer rule works and there's a transfer portal. So essentially kids that are under scholarships and put their name. The transfer portal, and they're not getting out of the scholarship there in insist their way of sort of putting their name in the hat and saying, hey, I'd like to I'd like to at least see what else is out there in case, I would choose to transfer and that has created a tremendous uproar because we're finding out who these kids are that are in the Porto, and now coaches are sitting here trying to figure out how to put together their their teams year in year out knowing that hey, a couple of guys put their name in the Puerto. They might stay. They might leave how you manage scholarships. It's become a very complicated issue. It's just a loss of control for the site of these guys that have always been used to having the control. So if you are twenty or Nick Sabin you've been used to all right? I get these kids here, and it's very hard for them to leave. And so once I've got them on campus. Whatever promises I made during recruiting whatever things that I told them might be true don't necessarily have to be. And that's not to say, it's all done underhandedly things change on campus. You get different things out of recruits than you thought. But now the players have recourse say this experience has not been what I signed up for. I can go elsewhere. And that's a difficult thing for the establishment to deal with is that is that. I mean, you played college football. Obviously, I know you're player. You're pro player in power of understand that we all have our pillars. I know. That's one of yours. When you when you think about if we really reach this power age of college free agency, essentially how will college teams still put together? I mean, you just basically saying, okay, we lost these three guys. Now, we're going to take three guys from over here. And then where does the cycle end or do you not worry about it? I think it actually makes college football a net better overall. Because you think about it you look at Clemson just as one right now, we've got to quarterbacks transferring from there that are now going to potentially start for different teams, you could have two four or five star thinking about Georgia harboring all these five star quarterbacks that now get to spread out over college football and play at other places a quarterback, especially alone that can affect the field is much or more as anything else you guys that could have been waiting three or four years to get their shot. But now we're going to see affect other teams. I think it makes college football overall a better product because you get better players forced to go to other places for opportunity instead of just finding their way all the same powerhouses that don't need much help. And again, I just I said not flippantly I say this. This is the power of Zion Zion. Just transcends. No matter what sport would dog. Obey got dabbled talking about Zion. You got LeBron showing up his eye on games? I mean, you got everybody wanting to see where this thing goes which comes back to our point yesterday. And something I think we need to keep reiterating. Even if some people believe he might not be the best pick at the top of the draft. He's gonna go first because he's a sensation. Coming up a whole new.

"In the NBA. In look we've had a lot of basketball. If you've missed any of it won't you just joined us. You can check it out on the podcast afterwards always stuff from him. But it's time to get into a little football. Golic and wingo on ESPN radio. ESPN news Jason Fitz in for trace it next to my senior Michael junior building wingo presented by progressive insurance. And you know, I'm stoked. I'm stoked for this weekend. I I'm the first to admit that I I'm overly excited. I think I'm gonna do a little watch party. You guys are welcome to come over to my my time busy, that's not gonna happen. But somewhere else. That was that was staggeringly honest. I'm a I'm a lifelong die hard day one. Memphis express fan. It is a weekend. And I am ready for all of it. So we're going to break it down. Instead of just breaking down the alliance American football. We're going to get somebody on here. They can help us do it with all the knowledge on how it's gonna work CEO and co founder of the af Charlie ever saw joins us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Get triple action protection for optimal engine performance was Shelby power nitro plus premium gasoline, Charlie thanks so much for the time. We appreciate you. Joining us as we were talking about football leagues. It's not lost on everybody. The upstart leagues have been tried to have been tried in the past. Where do you guys? Get your confidence that you can make this one stick. Good morning, boys. Good quality football. High quality top flight football. That is honestly the one thing. And I said this eleven months ago when we had this conversation on the same show, we focused as hard as we couldn't we brought Bill Polian and to do it. Because ultimately, my belief was the one thing no one had done before the twenty five plus years of of football league since USFL is actually put quality football field. So again, people want a quick quick background on this again, Charlie ever saw Bill Polian. Founded this you have a NFL former NFL players all over at player relations. Troy, Paula Malai. Hines ward football Development Board of advisors. Jared Allen Justin tuck officiating consultants. Mike Pereira, dean blandino all names. Everybody knows the season starts this weekend and goes through basically the draft at the end of April. And then Charlie as part of this. Have you spoken with people with Roger Goodell or anybody from the NFL on and how? Players then can go from your league to their league. Or or if there's any relationship at all. Well, yeah. A couple of things first of all we've got games on NFL network as well. The NFL is one of our partners. We have games on Saturday and Sunday night toward the whole regular season. So Sunday night football did not and three weeks ago. When it went off NBC second of all we created the first ever what we call NFL out contract so player complain our league. And then the minute our season ends from April twenty nine to December twenty nine they can leave our league and go play in only the NFL show. A really good example of that is the number one draft picking our quarterback draft in November was Josh Johnson. We released him two days later, and he went and played for the Redskins for three Chris three games and played very very well. Talking to Charlie Ebersol on the shell Pennzoil performance line. CEO and co founder of the alliance of American football, Charlie I've played for a startup lead called the FX fell in the fall of two thousand fourteen and for the last two games would Brian for the last two games. I didn't get paid. So where are you guys getting the money for this because I saw three year non guaranteed two hundred and fifty thousand dollar contracts for the guys in this league? You've got a fair amount of team. So how have you guys secured funding for this? Other than Bank robberies, we most of our money to venture capital. So we we took a different approach a lot. And it makes sense that the focus has been on the football. But the core focus of our business is actually the technology. So I raise the majority of my money in Silicon Valley and the focus of that raising was around the technology that will launch this weekend where you can play for the first time ever in game and game fantasy. So what's happened over the last fifteen years is that people have focused on what we're going to put chips on the players. We're going to do these third party, you know, daily fantasy regular fantasy. And they haven't solved the delay. How long it takes from the data to get from the field to an end user? Which is why you haven't seen in game betting even in states where it's legal because somebody watching television is anywhere from twenty to thirty seconds behind what's happening in the stadium, which means somebody with a cell phone could get ahead of you in a sports book and be. You know, it's the sting except with cell phones. So we spent a lot of time in my developing this technology, and that technology company among each assets also football league. So we raised it a much larger evaluation at a technology valuation. And then what I did is. We went and got Bill Polian is my co-founder of the football league. And gave Bill economy to build a league the way he wanted. And so the league became a function of that. And then the goal was to create a situation, which the players were not only taking care of financial the other thing that we do, and this is really quite Pall Mall..

"It's amazing as we are down here in Atlanta getting ready for Super Bowl fifty three. The world seems to have honed in not just on the NBA, but really the little bit extra on the New York Knicks. So yesterday, the Knicks announce a trade of Kristaps Porzingis to the Mavericks as part of a seven player swap that also includes a couple of draft picks, come in the New York Knicks way, what was your first reaction when you heard this news going down scrolling through your time line, or however, you managed to come across this. Well, if we if we figure out. How to quit each other knick fans would like to know because they have a certain thing in their life that they I think at this point with like to quit. Yeah. I was sitting on the treadmill yesterday doing my little run. And you know, you see the story I come out from from Adrian, which Naski Kristaps Porzingis is unhappy and might be looking forward to a trade, and you think to yourself. Well, you know, this time before the trade deadline that'll give us, you know, as a sports talk show hosts, you're thinking to yourself. Give us some good topics next week after the Super Bowl, you know, it's going to be a little bit of a dead time. And basically by the time, I got off the treadmill? He had been doubts. So I didn't really give you much time to kind of process all the different angles beforehand because it how it came together. So quickly. It's it's amazing that for the Knicks organization in a year when they've given their fans really nothing, but kind of this hope that after this year, it will be better. But in a year where they've lost think it's eleven or twelve games in a row. They've won ten games. Basically in fifty that even now even after year after year of disappointment, they still. Find a way to take it even lower in terms of rock bottom targeted Gordon Damer on the shell Pennzoil performance line here. And that's certainly what it feels like to a lot of people. Because Gordon the thing we were asking you yesterday was why was there this irrational attachment by Knicks fans at times, it seemed to Kristaps Porzingis when it came to what he could be as a tradable asset and a lot of this how he could maybe factor in an influence the Anthony Davis strait. So is this move as much the Knicks certainly getting ready getting rid of a young player that the fans seem to enjoy that had value when he was healthy on the court or just as much about the return that they got or lack thereof. I think mostly what it is. Look, there's ways I'm not telling you that there's not ways that you could look at this deal and convince yourself that there are positives to this deal getting rid of some bad contracts opening up enough cap space assigned to max free agents after the year getting back some other future assets in terms of draft picks. The problem is that it involves the Knicks and you have to. Their their track record into account in their track record is that in terms of dependable punch lines. The Knicks even supersede the aristocrats. I mean, they come and they screw it up every single time. So you might believe, hey, you know, what this is the time. It's different show me the any evidence that that's going to be the case first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Gordon Damer with us on the shell Pennzoil performance line from ninety eight seven ESPN in New York. And I guess that's my issue is. Yeah. What competence? Do we have not only the Knicks are capable of bringing someone in? But Gordon, we know so much of now in the NBA with the player movement the way it set up and how these guys are. So in control of this decision in a way, that seems e atypical on almost every other sport. They turns you into a major seller. It's not just selling a guy's a free agent. But usually flash some cash in front of him, and it was that easy. Now, it seems like it's more is New York as a whole that's still a viable enough. Destination to maybe overcome some of the Nixon aptitude is the and the garden and all the things surrounding it enough to lure a Kevin Durant. Kyrie Irving away at this point still while you would think that the fact that they've opened up this cap space that I mean, look back channels in different ways that they have a good read would certainly hope my goodness if they don't they have a good read on the situation that they know pretty well that they are going to be able to land at least one of these premium guys if they don't have that. Then all my goodness is this plan that has been put together is a complete even more of a disaster than I think even most people think, but let's say that they have this read on the situation that will take a look at the landscape, and they know that one of these guys wants to come here. I mean, why would be any? Why would anybody be rushing to come here after this organization couldn't utilize the draft pick that they had a seven three athletic shooting shot-blocking guy on his rookie deal? And they've taken that. Asset and traded away for cap space. I mean, it's not exactly like this has this. This organization has a great track record. And if any free agent is actually thinking to themselves. No, the Knicks are where I wanna be not New York. The Knicks were I want to be then I have to kind of question their judgment as well. And Gordon are interested because that is the other portion of this. I thought was fascinating was the interpersonal because we heard all this came after Kristaps Porzingis met with Knicks management on Thursday and left according to sources telling our Adrian awards and ask left franchise officials with the impression that he wanted to be traded. They were asking him if he was committed to what was going on in New York all these different things that now that we're hearing them. And obviously, I'm sure we're hearing them in large part because the Knicks want us to hear about that conversation. How do you think that plays not only with other MBA free agents? But when Knicks fans as well who all you've Kristaps Porzingis in a pretty positive light like painting this guy in this way, going out the door seems like an interesting strategy for a place struggles with some likability in their own. Right. Well, you have to keep in mind, though, the Knicks fan as we said yesterday, I think it was the Knicks fan base is the most delusional into York. And that's really saying something considering you know, we have some organizations here that don't really win all that consistently every time that it's. It's dependable that the Knicks will always screw it up. But just behind that in terms of rankings is that there's a good portion of the fan base will always tell you. You know, what though I think this time it's different. It's never different. But there's always a I would say it's probably about fifty fifty. And we're interested to see in. The course of our show today. Just wear. It comes down that there will be a part of the fan base who will convince themselves. No now this time it's going to be different this time. They have a plan and don't just have a plan. It's one thing to have a plan. It's actually being able to carry out the plan. So whether or not they're able to do that certainly is questionable at best questionable at best is right. And with your executing that plan and proving your desirable destination. All these things the Knicks have failed to do across now multiple front office. Look, this isn't just Kristaps Porzingis in a disagreement with Phil Jackson or a personality difference there and things we've seen. This is just the Knicks being from top to bottom starting with James Dolan on down being the Knicks, Gordon, I enjoy this morning. I'm sure the guests will be many. We doubtful. We appreciate the time as always thanks, Mike. Gordon, denver. You can hear him taking over five AM eastern ninety eight point seven FM ESPN, New York. He joins us in kind enough to on the shell Pennzoil performance line. What have a lot more on that coming up, including the NBA's model right now in general as I've joked this is the off season of the NBA transplanted into the regular season. What kind of benefits does that actually yield for where the NBA is in the current landscape right now? Plus, we got Super Bowl week were down live in Atlanta. It's not not football five. Maybe we can call it Super Bowl at five to help get you ready next. It's first and last on ESPN radio and the ESPN app..

"Of the ball. I was doing college football live and Brock. You're senate. That might have been one of the best units talking about a defensive front four that we've ever seen in college football a bunch of guys all deciding to come back to hold off on their NFL future for a little while longer. And then you combine that with the other side the emergence emergence of Trevor Lawrence in this young wide receiver core there. I think that's going to be huge for them to know. It's the way too early look at next year, but Trevor Lawrence and that offense maybe having to buoy the defense for a while. You know, they've got Xavier Thomas and some young studs. You never worry too much about them reloading talent. But that much turnover it takes a little bit to get your footing again as a team to learn what the identity is going to be for the year and to be able to rely on that kind of juggernaut performance from your offense early on. I think is going to help them and Brent Venables the best D coordinator and football kind of get through that next unit that next look at the Clemson defense in your takeaway after watching Nick Sabin lose by twenty eight. We know he's got the top recruiting class. We. I know he's shuffling coaches in and out. What does it what does it say to you about? What's ahead for him? I think it's the usual set of problems for Nick Sabin. But I think it's an interesting time just because so much, obviously, it's the visual Alabama losing and not just losing on the big stage but losing his badly as they did against Clemson. And then, you know, already they've gone through such an offense of overhaul in the last year the way this offense looked with two under Loxley with Danny no says the quarterbacks coach with Gaddis your wide receiver coach all of these people that are now gone from an offense that definitely was a departure from the norm for Nick Sabin. I'm very interested. Now that they have to do the full hockey line change with the coaching staff, but in a time where and you hear this from coaches all the time when you're used to turn over you tend to keep things in your system. And then just let the coaches acquiesce to Nick Sabin gave over this offense to that group of coordinators and coaches, and now he's going to have to find a way to sort of reshuffle and reinvent the wheel with that group. Knowing. You've got plenty of firepower back. You've got the Heisman runner up. But you've got a lot of question marks around him talking to Michael junior. Mike issue you look ahead to next year. I mean, it seemed like the usual suspects. See anyone crashing the party? You know, what I'm interested just because we've had such a fluctuation in the transfer quarterback world, obviously, the eyes are going to go immediately to Oklahoma Norman dec-, Jalen hurts and what he can do with that Oklahoma offense and Ohio State. These are the usual suspects. I'm very interested to see what Kelly Bryant can do it, Missouri. They're bringing back a lot of talent on that offense. We know a great backfield. Maybe one of the best in the SEC next year a guy and Kelly Bryant who's a proven winner at Clemson. And Derek Dooley. Who I think it did some things to really help drew lock in this most latest season for him with Missouri. I think it's a big year for Barry Onuma company around there, and I'll be very interested to see between them and maybe Washington with Jacobs and going out there as well. A team that I think underachieve by their standards in the last couple of years with Browning at the helm in a pack twelve wide open and quite frankly needs to make a statement this season. We we've seen such a such confusion and turmoil. You mentioned some of them with the transfer. Puerto you. You are not that far removed from having played the game. What are your thoughts on where we currently stand with the players ability to transfer easier? Maybe not as easy as it should be but easier than it used to be. Yeah. I think it's a big step forward..

These teams not that the patriots needed in the Super Bowl from the nighttime in Debray ballot. Check Aaron the third straight year. But maybe for the Rams I will also be joining excuse me by Michael Collins, as he gets set to tells by Tiger Woods pediatric burp. Yeah. I respect it. Tyus Battle's 32 Lead Syracuse to Shocking Upset Win over Zion Williamson, Duke

"A lot going on in the world of sports. We'll get into more dominance from James harden, a decision that gets pretty easy for the defending Super Bowl champions in my mind at this point a decision yesterday did seem to be a no brainer. That for some reason. I felt like we treated like a lot more than it was. That still has plenty of drama left to unfold for one major NFL prospect. But I. Holy hell Zion. Williamson I understand that Duke lost. I understand that. And if you missed it last night. Syracuse went on the road upset Duke ninety five ninety one in overtime. We got a little free basketball, which for those of us watching the bachelor last night. There is nothing like watching Colton going camping with the girls and the bachelor house and seeing simultaneously. Oh, I'm getting free basketball to this was all of my worlds coming together in the absolute best ways possible. Now for the Duke side of things I understand Duke lost. But when you look at the circumstances around why it becomes not only understandable. But I think it's never excusable. I want to say that right now Duke is too talented across the board the guys that they had left on the court. We're still good enough to where you have to get this done at home. And I say left on the court because part of the story for Duke last night going into the game. Cam reddish, one of the stars in their team missing with illness. Not in an available for them in the game. And then about five and a half minutes in trae Jones their star guard a guy who's a defensive juggernaut for them and a huge catalyst for them. Offensively leaves the game with what Mike chef ski described after as a shoulder sprain. It's a shoulder sprain. And we'll put out because I'm not gonna do medical stuff. But it's a sprain. There's no break, although he was in a lot of pain. He's a kid that the toughest kid right away. I don't know if my car broke bonus broken, you know, and it was that it was hurting that badly, but it's a sprain. And that was my worry. The I I saw that you thought it might have been a broken collarbone, which would have been devastating for this do blue devils team that listen the proof is in the pudding like the when he is on and off the court for them just within the body of this game be five minutes and change that he was on the court during this game Duke point differential, plus eight with him on the court field goal percentage. Fifty five point six percent with him off the court the point differential, minus twelve thirty six point six percent field goal percentage. They suffer offensively they suffer defensively where he's one of the best, man. Demand defenders in the ACC. And so that is going to affect you always said when it comes to injury. Usually we talk about it with the timing going into the season. At different points of the year, injuries are going to affect you differently. And so if you're a star player that gets injured at the beginning of the season ally. Last Joseph the Boston Celtics, for example, Gordon Hayward being injured at the beginning of the season. You spend the entire rest of the year. Figuring out how you adjust without Gordon Hayward. Kyrie Irving being injured right before the playoffs. All of a sudden, that's a major adjustment for a guy who has been a huge part of your offense. You might grow that down to a single game. And Cam rightish, who you know is not going to be available to you. That night is one way you adjust the game plan. Trey Jones going down in the body of that game is another completely when you have to now adjust without that guy on the court for you without the certainly the encore leadership that he brings you and all that production, and so the energy shifted as one might say. To Zion Williamson at RJ Barrett. Who took who scored fifty eight combined points last night the second most by Duke freshman duo under Mike shefty, but it wasn't quite enough. And I say all this again is a backdrop to discredit Syracuse for going in there and getting a win. And Lord knows we have become accustomed to Syracuse teams throughout the course of time underachieving during the regular season finding a way to make a run that alternately lands them in a Sweet Sixteen type season. That's the capability always exists with a Syracuse team. But man, you even heard Jim pay Heim after this who as usual was lighting up the sidelines in a way that the internet sopped up and enjoy tremendously even Jim boeheim after this kind of understood like man, there was a lot working against Duke. And we are still the team as Twitter would remind you last night big night for Old Dominion Twitter. Because ODU Twitter was reminding you the transit of property can be ineffective you so choose and college basketball, and this is a Syracuse team that. Lost to Old Dominion earlier this year, and you can kind of hear their head coach wearing that dukes. Great team. They don't have to other key guys. That's the breaks of the game. Sometimes. Those two guys the whole game. But you know, it's just one of those things. I watched one tape white may eight threes one game. I think seventy a lot. He couldn't tonight. That's just the way the game is sometimes I am. I asked Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Duke talk about not being able to buy one from three that was the other thing there were a lot of specific jokes made about the sexual prowess of the bachelor over the course of last night. Those were only outnumbered by Duke missed three point shots in a game where they went nine for forty three. Again, a game in which one of their best offense players out. They went nine for forty three. The most three point field goal attempts in school history. Duke now becoming the fifth AP number one team to lose at home to an unranked team in the last ten seasons. So. An outlier in a lot of ways. Again, you look at all the things surrounding this performance. I'm inclined to look at these and not excuse a loss. But understand the circumstances around and say, all right. I'm not going to sound the alarms yet for do. Because this is still a Duke team that again man you saw what Zion is capable in. The midst of all this for a team that has struggled this season against own. We know no one really runs it better than Syracuse. In a lot of ways Zion still thirty five points in a loss. He goes thirty five and ten in this game. He becomes the first major conference player. With thirty five ten four and a game since Kevin Durant. Did it back in two thousand and seven and you saw for all the talk. We had about on a while back. I want to be known as more than just a dunker. You saw that on display last night because him going down and being that differentiating force in the paint. And that's where in the past by the passed earlier this season when you look at the other loss to zag and the things that undermine them in that game with teams clogged up, the paint, this outfit tend to have a bit of trouble. And you saw them do a better job of that last night. They just couldn't hit shots. Like, it's we always hear about the NBA to make making mislead couldn't hit shots your one of your best players and a guy who initiate your offense. And your defense goes out within the first five minutes of the game last night. And all of a sudden the plan changes. Now, what it means going forward becomes entirely different and Jay Bilas ESPN college basketball analyst pointed that out that long term for Duke. The worry. I think any team that loses a point guard like that is going to have some issues and.

Kareem Hunt apologizes, says NFL never interviewed him about assault

"You know, it's been a tough time for man. I'm extremely embarrassed. Because of that video I last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, the videos disgusting, like we I hope we it's being spoon fed to us. This is disgusting. And this is the unfortunate part is it always seems like we need a video to believe these kind of acts are possible in these situations that the burden of proof always seems to be that high. So there's that which we can help with all of this begins and ends with Kareem hunt did an awful thing. And then we are led to believe in the chiefs came out and said Kareem was not truthful to us about the nature of these events back when they interviewed him after this incident. And so the chiefs said this video constitutes new information to us were making this decision. He wasn't truthful with us we can't condone this. He's gone. And a lot of people said that feels reactionary now I wanna play to bits of sound for you from Sunday NFL countdown yesterday. This is Louis Riddick are ESPN NFL front office insider talking about why he believes just including the lies that Kareem hunt was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in that interview, rather it just doesn't come off. Right. It doesn't come off as cream really grasping. Exactly. What is going on here? And how explosive this situation isn't how important the situation is. And he really let the kids see cheese. No choice. I don't believe that. She's just cut because there was no video. I believe it was because they really just didn't know exactly what had happened. And he they asked him what happened. And they and he's still did not know rather didn't come forth. This becomes the confusing part here is because the chiefs interviewed him within the NFL takes over this investigation. And it's league protocol where if the league starts an investigation the team will stop investigating and let the league take over. And I assume that just in a general sense seems to be trying to avoid a conflict of interest that makes sense in my mind, but the question. And then can be asked if the league didn't interview him and the chiefs couldn't get a hold of this video a lot of people are going to ask the question. I don't think it's unfair to ask if the NFL or the chiefs didn't know how much did they really want to because it seems like now this came up, and it's it's very reactionary doesn't seem like a lot of this process was proactive, and I was talking to our ESPN senior writer me at times yesterday. And the point got brought up that this in part could be due to the way things went for the NFL when they dealt with the Ezekiel Elliott case in the suspension surrounding that. And how so many people thought they were overstepping their bounds with Ezekiel Elliott based on the amount of evidence. They had their disposal. And so if you're the NFL you've got that swing of the pendulum after it was the complete other way with Ray rice and with Greg hardy and with Josh Brown. And with all these players were people in think you didn't nearly enough. And so that's the other part of the Sam ponders the host of Sunday. NFL countdown spoke about the message this sense from the NFL going forward message. Hopefully that we're going to start sending two women and two men who care in this country is that it doesn't matter. If you love the NFL in rushing last year, it doesn't matter if you're on all our billboards, or whenever you put your hands on a woman, we're done, and I hope the NFL can make that a little more clear the investigation process than they did this time I last year on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, and I thought Sam did a good job of resetting that conversation coming off of Koreans interview. Because there is a lot of we sit around, and we judge the interview, and we judge the suspension links, and we judge all these things I always wonder how productive they are. Because again, it's easy for us all to get up here. And obviously talk about how disgusting this is to see it on tape and how wrong it is. We all know that. We're not dumb. But then we get Jasper Lucas tweets is in cream hunted that interview because he's trying to line up another opportunity with another team. He's still lying. He hasn't shown remorse, and if I'm an NFL GM, I wanna see him out of football for at least a year during which he's doing domestic violence related community service, etc. That's the other thing is I don't think any of us know how to handle this. And we don't listen to enough of the right people in this because I sat and I thought man what's the length of the suspension going to be like for Reuben foster cream haunted. How far will that go for the league? And again, you can address PR in that way. But when you're trying to address the heart of the issue the way so many people in the NFL claim to want to do what do you do outside of just signaling to fans because this is a guy Kareem hunt is going to be back on an NFL football field. So in the meantime, what do you do to make sure that he comes back better? What do you actually do? That's becomes the part. That's infinitely more important. Here's how do we protect the victims in this? And how do we make sure that if these guys are going to because of their football town, we know end up back on the field. How do we? Ensuring if you're the NFL, how do you go and actually live up to some of the things that you're talking about as far as player development and ensure that these guys if they're going to be back come back better and not just come back punished in a way that's going to satiate the mob outside of your door. It's a it's an extremely complicated issue one that won't have any resolution now, but one that will certainly get into more later coming up on golden window as well. We'll switch gears completely getting back to the world of sports and get to the one staff that caught me completely off guard this morning, that's next. It's first and last here on ESPN radio the

"For the eagles. This is a definite step back that much. I can be sure of in Doug Peterson understands there's going to have to be some soul-searching starting with myself all of us. You know, this look at ourselves in the mirror, and are we are we doing enough? Are we given enough each week? It's a strength. I mean, you have to have to strain yourself to make plays. That's just the way this game is and. We didn't do enough of that today. And that's that's the disappointing thing. You know and just just gave up too many too many plays defensively. And then offense didn't execute. Enough. And so that's that's disappointing disappointing thing, but each person each coach each player in that locker room we have to. College football Week 1 wrap-up

"Twitter feed now last night in college football had the cap to the first weekend in college football. And we have great matches the last two nights. So obviously, no NFL this weekend. No NFL games coming up until this weekend. And so we had to nightcap college football games. LSU? Miami was a blowout. LSU announcing very loudly to the nation that they are here in Miami. We're gonna have to wait on them being back for a little while longer. Well, Virginia Tech announcing something in very similar fashion. A twenty four to three victory over Florida state with first year coach Willie Taggart in tow for the Seminoles. Now, how bad was last night's loss for Florida state? How bad this all work? Well, glad you asked last night for Florida's state especially offensively because so much of what Willie Taggart did and was coming in to do was centered around this uptempo offense. We had seen him jump. Start a program like south Florida seen him in his stop at Oregon will last night. Florida state ran sixty three offensive plays thirty five went four zero or negative yards. That is fifty five and a half percent of their place. If it weren't for one long camakers one Cam was well on his way to averaging under a yard a carry. It was that bad across the board for Florida state. And really it looked for a long time to be that bad for the ACC. This is a conference that had been gaining momentum steadily over the last couple of years while on a weekend where we saw the SEC go what thirteen and one on the weekend to started off, including dominant performances against their other power five brethren? Well, all of a sudden now. You had company last night where the ACC on the other side looks like Clemson and word he'd been Clemson and Miami starting to gain ground. Virginia Tech will certainly have some claiming this but outside of a stellar first quarter. The defense look great the offense still in very fitting fashion with a lot of the rest of the the weekend. We saw a lot of okay timely offense and a lot of really stellar defense. Justin, Fuente Virginia Tech head coach last night talking about what he learned from their week one victory. Well, obviously there in the third quarter. We kept them pinned down. And I was worried that we we let a couple of too many opportunities get away, but we found a way to get it done. I'm proud of our kids first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. So with week one of the books that seems to be the story is right now, we can talk about the Pac twelve record and standing in the last few seasons. Odell Beckham will report to Giants camp on time

"Talk about other wide receiver. Odell Beckham junior was back in March. Kinda felt like man is a really good chance that Odell Beckham junior is going to hold out as he seeks a new contract. He's gonna play this season under his rookie deal. It's gonna pay him about eight and a half million bucks, but he showed up for many Cam. He participated in most of the giants off season program and word is he is going to be there tomorrow when the New York Giants begin training camp. Here's a Jordan Renna on ESPN NFL giants reporter on sportscenter last night, talking about what Dell showing up the giants training camp means he's doing all the things giants. Ask them shown up minicamp showing up to OTA's. Now he's going to show up the training camp. Look. He had an option here Khalil Mack. Aaron, Donald day matrix differently. They may not show up for their teams. Adele, this guy wants to play football, right? He's a football player dying to get back out there. So he wants to get out there during training camp and he's putting the ball in the giants court and saying, hey, look, I'm doing everything possible to get this deal done. I want to be here, right? I'm doing whatever you guys asked me. I want to be in New York Giants. Let's get this done and there's really hasn't been any serious negotiations so far to this point Odal Beckham junior getting a report to a giant strain cabbies obvious coming off a year where he had the broken ankle only played in four games that remains to be seen, how much is it going to practice? Will he be on the field on Thursday when workouts begin? Is gonna play in the preseason and do the giants get a deal done with him during training camp historically. And obviously there's a regime change in New York, but historically, when the giants do these things like they did with ally manning these things take place behind closed doors, they don't typically, you know, show their cards. Regards to contract extensions, what they might do a certain players. So does this get done? It's a very good show of good faith by Odell Beckham, junior. If you're giants fan, it's like, dude, get it done for for as as much as del Beckham, junior Camby, quote, unquote distraction, and it's been immature before the whole, you know, going boat before the playoff game a couple of years ago with a bunch of his teammates and getting into fights with with Josh Norman, dude, Odell Beckham junior's one of the best three wide receivers in the game. You're not going to get anybody as good as him. You're certainly not gonna get any better than him. I'm not a big fan of saying, look, pay him and move on, but of got to do that, right. I mean, if you're the giants and you kinda going to go through this transition phase at some point where you move on from ally manning, maybe not this year, but at some point in the future and you've you've gotten saquon Barkley and you're looking to make a rebound from last year when he went three and thirteen Beckham junior's marvelously talented, he is still just. What twenty twenty six years old. His first three seasons in the NFL were historically great. Get it done, get it done, and the fact that he has shown up or gonna show up and be there for the beginning of training camp. That's a show of good faith. You have to reward that get the deal done and move on. And last podcast. Carmelo Anthony is the new rocket man. Michael junior this is first and last on? ESPN radio and the ESPN app we will get into Carmelo Anthony and. Why I, think mellow in Houston can work coming, up in just two minutes but first David Robinson was on the, jump yesterday sharing his thoughts on the Kawhi Leonard situation with his former team the oddest situations I think I've seen since I've been in pro basketball He's he's a hard guy to understand he's. A hard guy to read and you know. San Antonio which we we obviously have a reputation for taking care of. Our players, almost too much I mean people criticize, us for sitting guys down now of a sudden you know we, got a guy who says he felt pressure to play which is tough What can you do. A week, we typically don't risk our players health but I mean if, a guy's, not happy he's gotta go go somewhere where he can where, you can play That's, David Robinson the great David Robinson? The hall of Famer talking about Kawhi. Leonard on the, jump yesterday afternoon there was, something else that he said that I thought was interesting he said That he tried to reach out. To them And that he quote never heard anything back from him Now Leonard is famously quiet it's what's made this this whole situation with, the Spurs. Frustrating from San Antonio perspective and also really really, interesting now he's he's met with with Toronto. Raptors brass and but he hasn't had a press conference I guess there's there's. No sign indicating that he's actually going to have one he is, famously quiet. And if you want to be that way that's, fine if. You don't want to talk with the media that's cool if, you don't want wanna be exceptionally active on social media no problem. If you. Don't want to be a huge self promoter that's okay, if you. Don't want to chase a lot of endorsements that's, fine if you don't want to be an. NBA personality preferring. To just be an NBA basketball player that's totally cool But how do you not call.
