"Like, and I was thinking of my uncle, who my first one of my first memories is seeing him in jail and my collision in Oklahoma. One of the first words I used to say was jail. They would say, where's your uncle Marty? And I'd say jail. And he was a photo of me saying jail. And he was in and out of jail, my whole life. But not one person in this world that knew him would say he was a bad person. And he was a jealous whole life in and out. But everyone would say, Marty was the best. Like how cool was that dude? He was so funny. He was hilarious. And so what does that say? Like we're locking up sometimes like our most gifted or special people that just probably needed some sort of guidance or different direction or something. I remember one time he got out of jail, we were having a dinner for him and he was sneaking off and drinking. Like beer off to the side. I was joining him over there and he was like, he had been in jail and this is like as I would like started doing film stuff and my mom would send him articles. He was like, yeah, I really proud of what you're doing. That's really cool. And he said, you know who my favorite filmmaker is? And I didn't even know he watched a movie. Much less had a favorite filmmaker, you know? He's like, you know who my favorite filmmaker is? And I was like, oh, and he was like, Steven Spielberg. I was like, like, really? Yeah, cool. And he just like went into how Steven Spielberg created a world that was from his vision and his brain. And he loved that about Steven Spielberg's movies. And I just thought about how strange that was. I would have never thought, but he had all this time in jail, and he read a lot. And he. Watched movies. So we're shooting this episode, love my uncle Marty. It's great. I was like, by the monitor, I think Britain and my dad were near there. And my dad comes up to me. As we're about to shoot this really emotional scene with Willie Jack, he comes up to me and he's like, your uncle Marty, that's just died. And so like you kind of like the show feels like we're not making a TV show for me. The show feels like it's pulling from our lives and doing something that hasn't been done before. Trying to manifest or trying to, I don't know, it's not lost on any of us, how important the work is or how much impact it's having on kids or people from our communities. And part of that is because we're pulling it from our lives. We're pulling it from pain or pulling it from humorous situations from our lives. There's just a lot of stuff that we pull from. And I think that's what makes it special. There's one and seen an episode that I wrote with devery Jacobs called maple. It's about a lower Dan's grandma and she's passing and they're all at the house sort of gathered. Dan esquire directed it. Here's an example of just some truth that goes into it. But there's a moment where big walks in, he's got a squash in his hand. And he hands it to Willie Jack. And she's like, fuck am I supposed to do with this? And he's like, I don't know, cook it up, shit. It's organic. And he walks off. That came straight from this guy. My grandma was passing away. That episode is based on that what happened with my grandma. Literally the same things. I have cousins call me all the time. They'd had a couple drinks and they're like, crying. And they're like, it's just what happened to grandma, you know? It's like exactly what happened. But Ryan came to pay his respects to my grandma, and he'd only heard stories about my uncle junior, whose big the cop is kind of based on. He'd only heard stories about him, but knew enough stories and seen enough photos that he knew what he looked like and who he was. And my uncle junior was really paranoid about medicine. Anywhere he went, somebody was putting some spell on them or something, or he had something to thwart the medicine that was coming at him, you know? I mean, we would be a Tulsa at like a restaurant, a hipster restaurant and the guide come up with a plate to hand us our place, whistling, and he'd be like waving his plate off and staring the guy down. Super, super paranoid about like medicine. And so I saw Ryan pull up at my grandma, he's paying his respects to my grandma and everyone's inside and Michael junior's sitting kind of holding court in the front room. And I went outside to kind of greet Ryan and I see he's got this giant squash. I've never seen a squash that big. First of all, it's a good shawl squash. Those stage size squash. So Ryan comes out with this giant squash and his car. And I was like, what the hell? So he's walking. I was like, all right, when you walk in, I was like, uncle junior is going to be right across from the door. Sitting there, he's talking to everybody. I was like, so Ryan, when you come in, just like walk it over to him. Without saying a word and walk off. He's like, all right, all right. So we go Ryan goes in. I go in first and then Ryan comes in a little bit later and walks in and hands that squash. Just in my uncle's like mid story, I like terms and Ryan just comes with this big squash and puts his hands out. He grabs it. And then Ryan kind of does this and walks away. Gave him a little hand sign I went. With that. It walks away. Ryan's going to talk to people that just walk right out the door. Yeah, and then I'm sitting there and he just leaned over to someone who's like, why do you think that white man's got that gave me that? Yes, if I was a ghost. Nobody else see that white goose. Oh man. So that's an example. Ryan, you were writing for this season? Yeah. That's exciting. It's awesome. One of the things that Sterling said when we were writing in season two was at the very beginning of the room he says, he said, we ain't making TV when you're making a TV show. And I still believe that he's saying, when we're in that room, everybody's telling their stories, the hilarious stuff that happened to him, the bad stuff that happened to him. And all that's like, it just gets drudged up and pressed into the form of the show. And the show itself, like I said, I don't know how other TV shows work. But I imagine in my brain they just go, well, we'll just make stuff up. And I don't feel like this show, I mean, we are making stuff up, but so much of it's just our lives that are so it is that truth comes in and it's just like verbatim, like some stuff just comes in like copied and pasted from our own lives. Yeah, and it'll be painful stuff. Even Ryan talking about something that you probably see next season. It's like, or you want, you know, but it helps us get to someplace that we got to. You know, and it's like Ryan will talk about his mom who passed away, you know? And they'll give us something that happens to him in that scenario. I think we'll apply it to a character, a Laura dannon or whatever. And then all of a sudden, that shifts into something else. And it's all just about telling stories. It's about telling stories and then grabbing what we can to bring it into this story. And I think that that is what people feel that really like the show. They feel that they feel that the truthfulness in it. It's also, it's also really validating too because you have, you know, like I'm 43 now and like I've had like a loved crazy life. And like there's a bunch of season leg right here at stiff and don't move. Yeah, I walked in like that. Now that my head exploding hits and boom, I just stuck like that. Now he's got stuck foots. Tough time on the airplane back home. You live like crazy stuff happens to you like traumatic stuff, hilarious stuff. And like when it gets pressed into the show and then you just see how people connect with the show. In a backwards type of way, it's like, well, okay, well, that one for nothing. That horrible thing that happened to me, exactly. And I mean, the room has a really sometimes really, really dark humor, some people will say, some of the most horrible worst things humans can do to one another and you sit there for a second, then somebody will crack a joke about it, and then that's your whole trauma life has been converted into a punch line in a matter of 5 seconds. And you just have to acclimate to that, or you don't, or whatever, but it's like, that's the way that the room operates, and it grinds out really beautiful stories because all the stuff that's happening there like other people have gone through it and they went through it in a similar way that you did, whether you know it or not. We don't know that. We're just like, this is what happened to us. Here's how we thought about it. That kind of stuff and then it comes out like in a really beautiful meaningful way. I remember when we were when you guys were shooting season one, I was doing the behind the scenes. And I just remember being on set and watching this. And I pulled you aside, and I pulled magazine aside, and I was like, man, I don't know if this is gonna work, but it's too late now. It's already gonna be made. And once it's made, it can't be unmade. And that's like, we're just sitting there doing what we had been doing for years. Not getting no money and nothing to it. And all of a sudden, now we're like getting paid to do it. It's also like your parents and your responsible uncles are like messing around. And now it's like you

"Canning old junior here on ESPN radio Michael junior and Chris canning. Before we get to the newest, most famous member of the illustrious Manning family. I just got added last night here. Not even talking about art, which is crazy. God, that kid's about to make so much NIL money. I can't stand. Yeah, you were talking about him getting that bang going to college. College college, man. You look, you love to see it. You love to see it. Man, I'm just selling your kids thought they were rich when they got the pell grant in college. Could you imagine being a millionaire in college? I wouldn't make it go, Joe. I could promise you. I'd be like Rodney dangerfield back to school if I was a millionaire in college. I never graduated. That's what I'm saying. They're going to walk into these apartment buildings in college and it's going to look like their original apartment from coming to America. He's going to be so out of control. I can not wait. We need to bring back cribs strictly for the apartments of college kids getting the NIL bag. You know what? ESPN+. Chris and I will go around and do that for you. I appreciate you volunteering me for that because I want to be in on that one. That's going to be epic. Seems right up our alley. Absolutely. Mike and Chris's places can go right with Peyton and Eli's places. I'm not saying I'm just saying we will get to what we saw from the mannings here last night just in a minute here. We're brought to you by Goodyear helping you discover the road ahead. Goodyear, more driven. But before we do that, we want to hear from you edit it, say ESPN 888-729-3776 because Baker Mayfield last night went out stuck it up again and as we heard in the SportsCenter update is now going to be done for the season. He won't play against the Cincinnati Bengals. He is going to likely get shoulder surgery on that non throwing shoulder this week. Can he be the long-term future? Let's go to Liam in Long Island. Liam. Euron canyon goal of junior, what do you got? Hey guys, how's it going? Happy new year. Happy new year. Hey, thanks so much for having me. I'm a big fan of the show. Hey, I think you guys and I love ESPN love the whole family here. I think you guys are being way too tough on baker. The guys trying to do what's good for the team and toughen after the injury. I'm 35 years old until baker came along. The browns have stunk my entire life. I love the guy. I think it's, you know, he's going to pull up a 50 year obviously, but you guys have been way too tough on him. I'm not in the locker room, but I got to imagine his teammates love welcome being out there and at least trying, but he did stink in the last thing I just wanted to say is at what point does it come to the coaching staff to shut him down? You ask a player, can you play? They're going to try and play through it. No matter what, I feel like, right? I mean, I'll say Antonio Brown apparently, but at some point. We appreciate the call Liam, Chris. I think that last point is an interesting one, too. What could Kevin Stevens give done here? Because you and I both know a lot of times these decisions were quarterbacks and planning time can go above the coach's pay grade as far as who was saying he's got to be on the field. No doubt, and sometimes the organization has to protect the player from themselves, but I think it's really telling how that whole Odell Beckham junior saga played out and the fact that OBJ's dad puts something out there on social media and you had a lot of guys in the locker room that were co signing on that and players were split on how they felt about what the organization did with OBJ releasing them allowing them to go to the Los Angeles Rams. I think it puts brass from the Cleveland Browns in a tough spot because they're trying to back their franchise quarterback or the guy that they're hoping can develop into their franchise quarterback. Meanwhile, you realize that there are some underlying locker room dynamics and there are some players that aren't necessarily in support for the lack of production that they're seeing from Baker Mayfield. So to me, when you start to see things like that, knowing that there's an injury right there, that's when, as an organization, you have to step in and you have to pull Baker Mayfield because ultimately your season is already lost. It's about preparing for the future and it's about continuing to try to find, find out whether or not bakers your guy and you have to have him healthy in order to do that and that was not going to happen at any point in the second half of this season. And everyone could see that right the rest of that locker room was also about, hey, we were a viable playoff contender in just this last week. And so the other 52 guys on that roster are saying, man, at what point does our need to be a playoff contender and have a quarterback who's healthy enough to go out there, do all that? A lot of that plays into all this. Let's go to Mark in Ohio. Mark, you're on canyon gold junior. What do you got? Yeah, I'd like to know why the coach would allow Mayfield to play when they had backup Keenum. Who could have won a couple of games for him? Well, and I think, yeah, that's just kind of the question that we got into there, Chris. I think the other thing that the first caller brought up here about players in the locker room and how they've all responded to this. We heard from Baker Mayfield himself that there were relationships inside that locker room that needed repairing and that were little things that had leaked out over the course of the season. We've seen him be publicly critical of the game plan of Kevin Stefanski as recently as yesterday and so it doesn't all look perfect back there. No, and that's a part of why I've been so critical of baker this season. Not only from the lack of production, but also in terms of how he's managed things, usually you look at your quarterback as a stabilizing force within the organization, somebody that quiets all the noise, but Baker Mayfield is one of those guys that amplifies all of the noise that's coming out. And so I don't necessarily know that that's what Andrew Barry their general manager is looking for when it comes to entrusting somebody to be the ambassador for your program. Like the quarterback position is not just about what you do on the field, but it's about representing the organization and helping them find their way through adverse circumstances. That's why they take you with the number one overall pick, it's not just because of the talent that you have, but it's also because of some of the intangibles and right now you have to say that baker leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to being able to manage the locker room, being able to be a galvanizing force and being able to be somebody that's capable of stabilizing the franchise when they're going through tough times. He hasn't shown that ability and quite the contrary. He's been one of the guys that has turned up the volume on all of the issues that the Cleveland Browns have had. And I don't know that that puts Kevin Stefanski in a very good spot. So the intangible is not quite there for Baker Mayfield. We'll take more of your calls, can he be the future 8 8 8 say ESPN 8 8 7 two 9 three 7 7 6, but the intangibles were on full display last night in the Manning cast that we saw on ESPN2. Eli Manning and Peyton got a chance to talk to Snoop Dogg, who in addition to wanting to become a member of the Manning family and I believe being able to negotiate that air on air also presented Eli Manning with a special birthday gift. Take a listen to this. Welcome, snoop, it's Eli's birthday. Hey, the floor is yours. Please, please give him some kind of present. He needs it. Eli would like to present to you this death row chain for being so hip hop and being so helpful. That's yours, baby. When I see you, you got to put that all right your neck. Happy 41st birthday, Eli. Thank you. I look good in that. I want you wearing that for the playoff game in two weeks, so that's a must. This candy you're a teammate with Eli Manning for a long time. How's he gonna look rocking that death row James? He's gonna look silly because I can promise you Eli Manning does not know one song from death row records. Not one. I can promise you that he doesn't. Guaranteed it. No question about it, but it is pretty cool that snoop was willing to give him the chain and then I guess the Manning's brothers decided that they were going to make him an honorary Manning. That's a great family to be a part of. So congrats to snoop for being able to negotiate that. You know what I'm saying? That's pretty impressive. Listen, snoop's a good guy to have in the family. We've watched everything. That's been the Midas touch for the last two years is put Snoop Dogg on any sports related broadcast and watch him try. Wouldn't it him and Kevin Hart on the Olympic broadcast on NBC's

"And instead of knowing what the odds are that this guy at bat is going to get on base, they want to see if the guy at that can pull off getting on base. They want every at bat to feel like a chance instead of thing we got to get through to get to the next step back because that's the one with the higher probability of turning into a run and yada, yada, yada. I just want the game of it to feel like it's still part of it. I'm with you on that a 100%, a 100%. So I'm a 100% with how long we can do that. How long was the ESPN tenure? Three years, four years. I want to say four, the original deal was three years and I signed an extension and then it gets a little murky because things started to get pandemic. So you've had some time since you and the company parted ways. How would you summarize your tenure there? Was it a good experience, bad experience? What would be the recap? I would say it was a good experience. I met the people that I met through that job, like becoming friendly with me at times. I don't even want to say friends because I don't want her to have to claim me. But Michael junior, Jacobi, the friendships I've made throughout L Duncan, I have this incredible network now of people who I respect and that was, I would say far and away the best part of working at ESPN. And the other thing is I think I learned a lot right off the bat, I don't know if you remember at ESPN, I did an interview on vice for Jesus and marrow back when they were on vice. And I said something that before in my life would have been a completely innocuous statement and it became this big right away I learned like, oh, you work here, you are ESPN's Katie Nolan in the headline..

"And now you're set for twenty years or you can be the spurs and make the perfect trade for quiet leonard but then he wants to leave so listen. I'm not. I'm not You know traversing some insane. New ground here to say a lot of luck goes into it. And i understand. Why the gm's who you know a massive fixing. I think most of the first round picks me moved or not even good ones are doing it because they want to get as many bites at the apple as possible but there really is no one way in the one way is to get lucky because not even the number one picks league or guaranteed to turn into mvp's in superstars etc like. The really is just no great way. And that's why sometimes bothers me a little bit when teams get criticized. Four building around young corn. Why are you going after. Draft picks or vice versa. Just listen there's no there really is no method because you have to tank the right ear out this guy pans out etcetera like. There's no good way. This is a question that is its own podcast. And we're talking about markets in. Are you a free agent destination blah blah blah blah blah. There's just a million different factors that go into all this stuff but real quick talking about luck which is super important cannot be overlooked. It's like if you're the nuggets. The clippers drafted jerome robinson thirteenth overall into draft. Was that two thousand eighteen. Yeah two thousand. Two thousand eighteen draft jerome robinson just leaving michael porter jr. there for the denver nuggets to take. So it's like michael. Jordan could be on the clippers right now. The clippers could have had shay and michael junior from that draft. If you want to think about that for two seconds just it's absolutely wild and they would have presumably been able to keep one of them in the paul. George trade and the clippers are just completely unfair juggernaut right now if that's the case so it's like they got a little bit unlucky there gets lucked out. They got puerto junior. They just signed to this max extension. Who looks who looks wonderful. Offensively when healthy luck is you can't overlook but row so getting into what i wanted to kind of put my twist on liam's question here i think there are. You could say seven genuine rebuilds taking place right now. Eight if you include the timber wolves which i don't because they have to mid-career vets on max deals and they wanna win right now so i'm not going to call them rebuilding team even though they're super young so the teams that i'm looking at right now are the thunder. The rockets the pistons. The magic. the pelicans the cavs and the spurs those are the teams that i think are in full-on maybe not full on because you could debate certain things here and there but i think these teams are rebuilding so out of all these situations. I want you to tell me which three fan bases should be. The most excited about what has already happened. In terms of you know the assets that they have and the players that are on their roster and just what the future might bring just like which situations are should fans be most excited about out of those rebuilding situations so even though i think this one is the highest risk high reward. I think number one is the pelicans. Just because you have zion. There you have brandon ingram like you have to real..

"Go okay question. Tom brady. No one can sow touchdown. Tom series like how the age of forty four is this happening. The most impressive thing is ability to stay up that late for forty four year. Old man is incredible. You unlike a serious football. I wanna i wanna serious answer. I a silly okay. You serious answer still answer. Serious answer is He was pressured on half of the drawbacks. That dak prescott was continues to excel. Because tom brady's personnel has arm is still incredible which is amazing and mentally us. Obviously but blamed behind that offensive line and being not pressured is like really the key to his longevity. In my opinion not serious answer. Did you guys look at his hair. And do you think him and drew brees used the same guy breezes better i think that guy that hairline man. It was perfectly talk about it. Was i the only person who had the same reaction appearance of him on my television screen. His skin looks beli. He just he knew he was. He knew he was going be on television a year ago and has been preparing ever since you've seen this side by side with his new hair and his old we remember former colleague jason witten and his debut scared you've seen brian or lacquer of course to me like what we're really seeing on display is the difference between tight end money and quarterback money at the quality like whitten had the oldest painted on raises. New hair had texture. It had like definition had body. you tattooed onto your head. Like where's your budget. It's a good question if you get a tattoo of hair right. You'd have to get a bunch of individual little dots right. You can't just do like a general like if it's painted on you have to make it seem like you have the little spuds of hair growing. They're right we're not. You're not wasting your time. Billy play and also having adl on your scalp for five hours in your head. The hair transplant thing seems horrible where they take out like the little whatever it is the little piece of hair in the back of your head so half of your head is shaved from the this part down. I know that's not a great description. We're on audio but like the back of your head down like shape because they take out the hair follicles and then the implant on the top of your head and then there's like blood it's horrible. I saw one time for a local miami. I don't even know what it is like cher replacement centre meena where they were taking it out of the back of someone's head and implanting it on their face so the guy could blow up beard and they were trying to sell you like this is a great treatment. They should get if you really want to grow a beard. And i'm not one. I don't know about you mean i'm not one who can grow a beard. My fear would be very patchy. And there's lots of holes. But i would never think you know what. Let me take out hair follicles from the back of my head and upper neck and have them jammed into my face so that i can one day. Maybe grow a beard and then have to shave more. Don't do take your own hair and yeah and then like i don't. I honestly don't even know the prizes. But here's the thing a lot of these. It was one of those like infomercials that there was all. I got a strange time on like a strange channel. And then when that one's not on there's one for this giant vibrating lake It's like a giant. it almost looks like a like a weak border something right and it just vibrates and it's just a bunch of old people sitting down and they put their feet on it and then it just shakes and this is supposed to be like this great exercise thing that they have and then they show like these instagram models. Standing like i use this every day and like sitting down and it's just like shaking them and it's like i got a six pack like this is like you absolutely did not and i don't trust it if you just repair out of the back of my neck and jammed into my face and i'm going to grow a beard right nor would i want to that way right. No i feel like these a list stars especially by yourself. Some of it's not their hair. It's like a twelve year olds in like a different countries hair. They're buying on the black market for hair and here. I'm accusing anyone of anything or illegality. But i'm just saying that. Why would you not get the most the best softest youngest hair well. That's the thing right if you're doing some sort of hair transplant treatment which you want your own. Because you know it's not the best quality because you're replacing it so if i'm to take out of a part of my head i know that it's left a different part of my head so i would think this is probably not the strongest of hair okay. Everyone here has hair right. So there's no yes. I've heard i'd actually the cut. Well i asked because you're all wearing hats day so chris let's start with you first. Michael junior fell. He said equal drew. Brees a traitor man. Yeah and michael. Juniors right i mean. He betrayed betrayed. Ball people everywhere. Did he notice. Yeah so chris. To bill's point if you could have anyone's hair who would you have transplanted onto your head. No no no. The actual hair likely said is getting Is getting put in homes off their head. I will take. I'll take a pass on my hair. I will andy here. I should have gone for like conan. O'brien dalton scott. Good good good to hair. Yeah it would be great if you do transplant with just a totally different color cats. That's like all right. Let's keep on around the room here. Dude did i worked with a guy journalists. Who was a lot older. Maybe in his he at the time he was in his late fifties and he had gray hair right and one day he just showed up with jet black hair and he didn't like there was no transition period. No one was allowed to talk about it. Who have to be in meetings with them looking at his. Obviously not. I mean i guess it was his hair but died but he didn't even try to hide it. You don't talk about stevie like that. A shots fired found. The collin cowherd slander. It's enough. i was the best though. That was hilarious. There's still by the way leather right. Like promo pictures of the collin cowherd show. He turned to look at like low. Like local radio stations. Across the country there are still pictures of colin cowherd. I down fox think even the local radio station down here in miami that carries coward. There's still that picture of him with like nuclear brown hair. I don't even get why he did that. Like callin looks good with the salt and pepper. I agree. I totally agree with you. Can't enter the public sphere beyond television semi often and then just one day to the next show with a different color of hair. Like it's it's ridiculous at least drew brees yes. We saw him on television lap. But he's transitioning into a new career but it like because we've seen him with a balding or thinning hair. it was. It was obvious. But like i think this is like tv. Drew brees now. We'll get used to it eventually but if you just show up after doing ten years of television one day to the next of a new color of hair. It's too bad. look. I want to continue playing this game of Head of hair so roy. Who's head of hair. You going with the guest phil washington for really taking advantage of this twenty minutes. We have with meena here. Choose an old man's hair. Roy harris during tax better probably has somebody else's ooh so if you say i want denzel's haired you get the hair of the person. Denzel has yeah. I'll take sixty. You'll just take care all right tony. Who's air you go. Tony has notable hair buddies. Yeah.

"Lindor bonnet center town. You mentioned offensive and defensive lines similar when you know we have been in linda bomb and And van valkenburgh. You know we have. And then there's just a lot of moving pieces a lot of moving parts random and when you move ahead to a game against deanna. That's that's something that's going to be interesting listening to curse tonight The it's a big offense of wine for indiana so the and vice versa With with the indiana wanting to put pressure on quarterback and and beyond attack mode Bech balata trenches against indiana. Obviously it is by every single game but it seems like this game even more so is is just super intriguing when it comes to. What do we know about indiana other hoosiers and other coming off a sixty one conference braun. Hoppy lost game six to their quarterbacks facts that got talent act and they've done a really good job reinvigorating report having a rebirth of a program. That's indiana's basketball school. So it's been an impressive thing to watch from afar. What they've done in india you. Tom allen's done a nice job in his ten years. Really kind of you know if they had a breakthrough last year for sure. So the intriguing thing with when when you look at iowa and what's going on with offensive line is their defense. Loves to put pressure on you. They're gonna blitzer lot. Mike mcfadden at linebacker is dynamite players. All big ten level player. They move him all over the field and bring him at different angles. So that's the concern you have from. Iowa's perspective is that let's wine. How do you get that cohesiveness that that comfort level with each other when he was seven guys in and out so they're going to have that challenge of divine nancy's at safeties another all big ten player They just loved it. Kinda create pressure turnover events. Seventeen interceptions last year. It is different though this year because came womack their defensive coordinator last year Is now the head coach at south alabama so You know womack out in. They brought in charleston warren There's really kinda from what i understand. Kind of minor changes. Maybe some terminology changes but other still gonna do consent saying you know were iowa's got like a cash they calling husky which is of a different word for everyone. Those guys a hero position. Or whatever it is on third linebackers. Some kinda hyped up safety thing And then on offense. Michael junior back towards a seattle in november last year. Nobody remembers the penn state game last year where he scores And wednesday game even though maybe he didn't score but they didn't know relet in the the video booth so but he's a dynamic. Everybody's tore his acl twice. He's not a. He kinda has a reputation as a runner but he's more of a mover than a runner. Just kinda buys time in the pocket more than just kinda taken often. Running with the football knows to extend plays with his legs The big arm likes to throw downfield In that makes dangerous because he can extend those plays and then you just lose a guy and he'll just launch down the field It kind of a. It's going to be an interesting game. Because what kind of pass rush. Can i get on him. Is he gonna be back there. Just picking away I think that's part of the cat and mouse game. That's going to go onto a wide. Receiver tied frightful is an all big ten player. Probably would be certainly would benefit an nba nfl draft pick glance. He decided to stay another year. He was the top wide receiver in the big ten conference over two hundred yards receiving against ohio state last year. So he's he's the legit deal. I mean that you know. The ohio state is pretty good last year. They also brought in a canadian car from you. I see who's running back and he's he wondered a starting ryan back jobs. That's gonna come jolt. Thorough run game a bit high sink At least that's what they're hoping that he kinda provides them with a bit of a spark I should also mentioned tight end Hendershot is really good to a shot really good player experienced guy Fifth year guided the came back so they have some channel Got some big offense lineman You know one of the guys is like greece. Seventy five or something. Kale jones. A six six three sixty two. And he's he's lost some weight to get the three sixty good for him The aso they've had their offense wasn't great last year. It will want pressure. So we'll see how they've improved it some interesting interesting Game on an island. Step their streak of twenty two games in a row where they've given up twenty four points. That's a big deal everyday arisen. Twenty two point two games in a row that iowa has given up twenty four points or fewer It also that's that's an impressive streak gets the longest in the country and It's going to be put to the test. The next two weeks for sure We always we don't always but you did send out a call for questions. Our good friend. John singer who thought he was late. I did realize that we're weirdos. That new these played at night you late said he wanted to know which matchup remorse orton saturday. I was defensive. Line versus dini. An of wine kinda talked about that a little bit or the indian defensive backs patriots. And the i will wide receiver so we talked about the offense even line a little bit for iowa's than the wind for for indiana We mentioned the wide receivers. How good is the indiana secondary. And i think really what you kind of talked about that. I think is the biggest factor in that whole mess is how much pressure spencer teachers hats. I think if he can stay comfortable may not rush decisions. That makes any sense. Ben than i think he can have a nice day and so i don't know if the if it's iowa's wide receivers peach versus the secondary as much as it is making sure he stays upright and and not rushed and and and not rattle your thoughts on those two battles between between in this game coming up johnson. Yeah i think. I'd still go with the the the line play. I just think that's so borton for iowa To be able to get pressure because in be able to stop the run. Everything iowa does when they're successful you just look it up there you know like last year. They limited opponents to. I think it was two point six yards per carry in that sets everything else up because you get people in second law and then you can kinda dictate the terms of Of play if you will so..

"Plo. Welcome back to the third segment of today's gear. Some seats sports podcasts again. I'm aho's nebi atm. Am own thank you for sticking around for the third segment of today's podcast on just got done talking about How who your jones got traded to the Tennessee titans If he didn't hear The tennessee titans decided trade the seven time pro bowler Wide receiver in a safe round. Pick and twenty twenty. Three drought to tennessee. Titans for a second round. Pick in the two thousand twenty two Draft and a fourth rounder in twenty twenty three. Nfl draft would. There's a lot of players on the tessie ties to the social media including ryan tannehill t seem pretty pumped up for having julio jones as a m- another target he can have and he was very very happy but Would the tetons are gonna be having a very very Tough schedule coming down the road. So it's going to be interesting to see how the can handle themselves in the regular season. They're going to be facing the cardinals. Seahawks the bills. You know the teves steelers companies so law tough opponents to face a coudn't steelers down the line but with that let's get into the next segment. The third segment of today's podcast. That's going to be talking about. The western conference semifinals Between the phoenix suns in denver nuggets and the utah jazz in de los angeles clippers. So were those. Let's start off with the denver nuggets in the Phoenix suns One was on monday. June seventh of the phoenix suns one predominantly against the denver nuggets. One twenty two to one zero five In this matchup it was shown that devon booker pretty dominant Twenty one points. I say pretty very dominant had twenty one points eight assists for rebounds a twelve shooting from the field one four from three point range than four six hundred free. Throw line With as also. Chris paul also had a great showing twenty one points. Eleven assists six rebounds. Didn't miss a free throw from the free throw line two or three from three point range at eight to fourteen from the field Overall top to bottom. I mean this sons group did a great great job of Staying with her cole. Rut values on defense and on offense Now trying to make any type of a judgment whatsoever and ended up winning this game in very clean dominant fashion with his look at the denver. Nuggets cited things on we look at denver nuggets things on you see michael porter jr. With a fifteen point soon six to thirteen from the field than where you look at nikolai. Yokich the ferment prime vp. He had twenty two points. Nine rebounds three assists Ten twenty three from the field to five for three point. Range didn't shoot a free. Throw this game too. So that's an interesting side to look at but Overall a must get into the details about this game so details about this game and from what i saw from fan. Sandpoint is that From quarter one This team this Both of these teams. I should say Came out guns blazing you know twenty twenty tie game after one. Quarter of play When you look at the stat sheet. I mean deondraye. Eighteen got things going for. The phoenix suns Ni- points And jae crowder. Well i'm as well When you look at never nuggets. I think yoga's came out playing ten points. Michael junior six points so a pretty clean first quarter but then when you go to the second quarter here Still a pretty close game on all the denver nuggets were able to outscore the phoenix suns by one point in this quarter and as a result of that deserve went to halftime with a one point lead on the chorus. Three is when things started to kinda Get away from the nuggets. I should say This is the sun scored thirty points in the third quarter in the nuggets. Only score twenty one. I'm in this effort mikhail. Bridget scored thirteen points in the third quarter For the phoenix suns. He was a great great college for them overall. This denver nuggets team was pretty much a no show in the third quarter on your goods. Attempt to ten charts are only three of those and Only made one three pointer in that third quarter. Then look into fourth quarter now. I mean this fourth quarter was pretty much dominance at it at its best The phoenix suns scored thirty. Four points to the denver. Nuggets twenty six and the rest is history after that overall the second half was huge. Huge huge for the spring sons team The scored sixty five points to denver nuggets. Forty seven in this in this effort The phoenix suns saw sixty four percent from the field. Forty six percent. Forty point rains at a nuggets. Only shot forty percent from the field and thirty six percent from three point range With this i mean a lot of members to take in there but the one thing that stands out to me was how many free throws is denver nuggets teams able to shoot and his denver nuggets team only got to the line six times and adler exams only make five of those. I mean that one doesn't really do that much on justice overall but i mean veered. Envy fears denver nuggets squad. You gotta be able to get to that free throw line because nothing else is really going well for offense. You know the half court set wasn't really working. And i thought this never nuggets team really played to the level of this phoenix suns team as well This number nuggets team seemed to be trying to shoot their way out of this game. You know Monte morris of wanna ten from the field austin rivers to seven from the field You know John michael green..

sixty Chris paul forty percent ryan tannehill thirty Forty point six thirty points julio jones Nine Forty six percent six times Eleven assists ten points six points second half thirteen thirteen points Twenty one points three

"There's nobody doing what you're doing. I as a podcast. I don't know right so look at those things and maybe even look at your audience so generally from a content standpoint companies. Don't look at niching down their audience enough. So i say all my audience is plant managers. And i'm like now you probably can't be what can you do. Maybe you say oh. We're talking plant manager. Who are in companies of more than one thousand employees who ship out goods and services to india and china their headquarters in the pacific northwest. I don't know i'm just making that up. But that's the thing right that you might look at that audience group and say hey we can talk. Tell a different story to that group of people. So i would say you know if you go through the whole contract process. But you're not differentiated in some way. You're wasting your time. I think the whole differentiation is. I think it's really hard for a lot of companies right because they're jump in and they want to be like somebody else right. They want to do whatever somebody else is doing. Other successful shall we should try that. But i don't know how you can tell stories if you don't even know what it's about. I was talking to somebody a joe. It was a ceo who shall remain nameless. And i don't have any relationship with them right now. And i said they were looking for like a very specific audience and i was like oh awesome. Yeah i can totally help you with that. And then they said oh no no. I don't want to do any of that. I just want the leads. And i'm like well i get it but you still have to kind of figure out how you're going to differentiate you can't just go. Hey work with this dude. No such a great point One of the case studies in the book is comedian. Michael junior and i love his take on audience because i asked him about an especially as a comedian you know how do you look at an audience because you have so many different people. And he says i get up. My whole mission is who i serve in. How can i serve them better to help them. Live better lives in some way and by the way this is for businesses as well so figure out who do you serve. And i liked the whole service aspect of it and almost gets. Dj bears helping. It was like okay. That's all you're in for. You're going to serve you. Were going to help that audience every day every minute of every day. And you're going to send them something indispensable and if you do that over and over and over again you will build a loyal audience and once you build a loyal audience then you can think about all the ways to monetize that audience so generally. That's what we've been getting wrong with content marketing if about it as a content campaign which is content. Marketing campaign is not a thing. You can't do that this marathon not a sprint. So focused on building that relationship first and then once you do. You could sell whatever you want to that. I mean and that's what you're seeing companies like amazon and google. Were they five six seven eight different revenue sources because they built these audiences. That's the benefit of it. That's the benefit of what disney's done and they have so many different revenue sources today because they built these valuable audiences. And that's where i think. We're going with innovative companies instead of just having one or two revenue sources products and services as well. You can products. You could still services you're going to sell advertising and sponsorship..

"Why don't you just do a little challenge for like you know ten fifteen women and it ended up being like thirty women and like twenty of them was like well you only work with men and then our website people women were going there and wanting to spend like you know five and ten thousand dollars and they're like well this sites for men my anymore not anymore and you know i think mostly for me joy. It's it's it's the You you obviously. We hear this. You wanna have a target market that you're focused on right. You wanna know that. Yeah whatever you're doing you're talking to it's I have a friend of mine His name is george bryant. He i think he's probably one of the greatest arbiters that there ever is. And of course you've probably never see him on clubhouse unless like somebody said. Hey george come on. We're gonna let you talk about x. y. and z. Okay cool 'cause he's always one of those givers right his His tagline is relationships. Beat algorithms which is true. And when you think about it it is. It's it's so true and he has this depiction of a lighthouse. And i said this the other day. Michael michael junior talks about your wine. You're what right and knowing you know you know like when he shows this video of this guy in the crowd singing the song and he's and he sings it first and he's singing come a couple of bars of amazing grace right and the guy sounds great and michael junior like the do right and he said now. I want you to sing as if your uncle just got out of jail back when you were a kid like living through it. oh yeah. He's like the hood version right. Yeah and so yes this this. The guy's begins to sing. And everybody around him begins to perk up and he sings a little a little bit different and in halfway through they picked michael junior and he's like like really like and then he said you know the first time he's saying he knew why he was saying but the second time he knew what he was saying right and he said when you know you're y in your what you're what has more purpose because you're walking in in towards your calling right and so i think when we go through this thing. Sometimes we get distracted light. Let's be realistic. You and i talked about it before we got on here. Clubhouse can be distracting like there. There's like we we'll maybe we'll share thirty seconds about this or so like like there. We i came background while i came on. I came on clubhouse the other night. And i think it was friday night right. Was that when you had the little minion thing it was. It was not a little. It was a big where they battle..

Plus, today, Obama came Michael with junior now before I entered Is my guy Michael Jr. Obviously an academic all American out of Notre Dame college football analyst that we see on the call from multiple games over the college football season. He's gonna be holding down ESPN Digital for the NFL draft. Before you tap into all of that with your draft knows junior. We've been following the story San Francisco for generous CEO. I feel like we just have to bring this full loop is unbelievable. Jed York, the 40 Niners CEO was out here toying with people's hearts and emotions tweeted about going for a run and said, I don't know how many miles to go for a run for he proceeded to list all these different mile amounts that happen to correspond with the Jersey number of every quarterback, including Aaron Rodgers. That they could possibly be linked to what you say. Apparently he had to put out an apology for this Backdraft. This is dead yard suite 2020 minutes ago. Hashtag drafting. I want to apologize for the last tweet. Clearly, I don't run much. Sorry to all the runners out there. I'm just waiting for the draft to start. Aren't we all dead? Aren't we all you were the first one to call, Matt said. There's no way in hell you're running those 16. Miles on draft day, Jed. I doing the math right now, unless you Get ready to be use. Same. "Been a busy one here kovacs very very busy. One nuggets trade news. I'll be real honest. We did the lonzo ball thing yesterday. And this morning's poll question was going to be. Who would you rather have. Lonzo ball. Aaron gordon but before i could even get going today. They've announced they're going to mcgee. And i thought well and heir gordon. I didn't think the nuggets were going to be buyers. I didn't think they were going to do much. You know but especially last night while playing the raptors and again i space this but toronto's planned in tampa. I just completely forgot about that. And as i'm watching us. Oh that's right that's right because the cova that's right but so that that was awful back to back. We'll martin looked terrible so then part of me said man. Maybe they are at that point. Do you recall. And we're going to get chris on here. Hopefully and i'm not going to press him or anything about this. Because we know his position. But i asked him last week you know. What's the status on gary harris. When's he coming back. That was more of a know. I know nobody really knows it went from. He's hurt to. Nobody really knows where they just kind of like. Hold them out saying. Hey this is this is what's going to happen. You know. you don't really fit in rotation at this stage in the way we're gonna do this so we're gonna move on gary's one of the good ones trust me. I love the guy but it makes sense. It makes perfect sense. I think the sentiment throughout the state to is that you know. Gary got this thing going you know. Brandon ewing of denver stiffs. We've had on this program. Wrote a nice piece this morning saying hey through thick and thin it was always gary harris. You no matter what the roster looked like it was scary well colfax. I'm here to tell you that was the problem. That was a problem. Denver made a tough move today. Tim conley calva move. Made tough moves today. Not with hartenstein. Now with the draft picks with gary harris. But this is what you have to do. Now the nuggets. They're not extremely active on trade deadline. Really really since carmelo. They haven't been there very loyal to their their players for the most part. They're pretty loyal to their to their key players. Gary would still be considered a key player even though he's on the bench but still started when he was healthy when a bench injured at me he was still started when he was healthy. Denver made a better move for nicole yokich today the whole video which we got another one coming out later this week. We did a whole minute video about you. Better treat joker right. You don't want to turn out like nolan aeronautic. And i know that was extreme and hogan's freaked out on me which is nothing new. But you do want to be careful here. A lot of diehard reporters in denver. We'll tell nicola yokich loves it here. He's never going anywhere. Wind is the win you know. He's he's gonna win. mvp When he goes all these all star games. when does it become. The only thing i left to do is win a championship and his denver going to equip me with the team to do that. So it's all well and good right now but come contract year do could you see yourself getting into an ordinary nado situation where it's like all right i'll sign. And then he signs in it's whoa. You're not doing anything. This was the nuggets saying. Hey we have the best player in the nba. They do. We argue all day long. But nicola yokich is the best player in the nba. The guy doesn't even have to try and he falls over a triple double and i mean he's you're constantly going to get the numbers from him. There's no more question about whether or not he wants to win this way. Whatever at a double double last night in an an atrocious basketball game. But what's the rest going to do. Okay porter starting to get consistently to that point where he's going. Nineteen twenty points. A game jamal. Murray is finally kind of stabilizing right. Now i don't know if he's going to be a fifty point i don't know if he's going to be fifteen point. Be stabilizing getting you twenty. But is that going to be enough. This was the move man hartenstein averaging about five minutes per game you know. I don't know four or five points per game. I mean looking at his numbers right now. Colfax it's not so that wasn't the loss you're going to talk about the draft picks you know the the mcgee the javale mcgee thing was easy because those are two second round picks that are wants project not wants two thousand twenty three one thousand twenty seven. I don't think about that. This is a window is what you call a championship window folks. You're not thinking of five years down the road. And i know that's the plan i play. This team has never won a championship. This is the window. It's time to do what it takes get aggressive denver's been pretty non-aggressive the last five six years and they they didn't need to be. This was the year because why colfax at the beginning of the season well before the beginning the offseason. We thought jeremy grants coming back. Well michael green has had his moments but he has not proved to be the replacement for jeremy grant so that was a big thing than we thought. All right michael. Junior murray gonna take the next step have they has michael porter. Jr. taking the next step he probably has. But it's more like a like a half step like not the you know when you're walking. You're trying to avoid stepping on the cracks. And you gotta like shuffled real quick so you can keep that rhythm. This is a shuffle. Step that we have with porter shuffle. Step still going forward. He still moving up. But it's not a big step jamal. Murray did he take a step forward. They take a step backward. Urs somewhere somewhere in between like you stand still kind of and i don't want to say that he's that he's had the last twenty games have been different more consistent but you know when you see. Fifty point games in a playoff bubble. Don't you start to expect twenty five twenty seven more often than not. You're you're looking at thirty. So and i know you gotta hogan's freaking out brady hates jamal. Murray he's on putting pressure on a guy that i think could great. Sorry sorry that. I wanna see a championship in denver. So those those were the things that happened. You didn't get jeremy. Grant fail right. Loss but puerto juniors shuffle stepping. It's taken a little bit though jamal. Murray sitting still not really bad but not really superstar yet so the things you needed to happen haven't necessarily happen by the trade deadline. So denver had to sit back and assess the situation. What are we missing. Well it's not. We're not going to blame jamal. Murray we're not gonna blame michael porter. Jr. they're just not doing enough to make up for these weaknesses that we have right and the weakness that you have. You don't have strong interior defense. You don't have shop lockers. Well folks now you have shot blockers. Now you have guys that are going. I mean vail. Mcgee was averaging two and a half blocks per game and he was getting about fifteen minutes. This guy listen. Javale mcgee's at a point his career. He's not a game changer. He's putting together valuable minutes. And then what you traded for. Aaron gordon probably a little steeper right you lose gary harris you lose hampton which is the biggest biggest story of this is you're losing. Rj hampton who you thought was probably going to be a big time player Gordon is averaging fourteen points per game about seven boards per game four per game. Not a good free throw. Shooter doesn't matter he is. he's putting together. He was putting together pretty season averages about a block per game but still stronger defense there so now you just got better there. What's that. What's that starting lineup. Gonna look like these are big moves folks. These.

Aaron gordon nicole yokich michael Gary Murray last week Gordon gary two thousand today fifty point chris fifteen point Mcgee Brandon four gary harris michael green martin Nineteen twenty points

"March twenty four two thousand twenty one addition to the program and ryan fagin joins us to talk some college basketball as we get for the weekend of the nc double a. tournament. And just a couple of days. Of course the area teams with the best weekend last weekend. Follow ryan ryan fagin on twitter and read them at sporting news dot com orion. We've talked last week. Getting set for the tournament and not the best weekend with the ncaa tournament or the nit for the area teams mizzou illinois and slough kind of a A just brutal disappointing. Wherever you want to say ending to what had been a a pretty exciting and pretty fun. Year for all three of those teams. Yeah and i think the thing. That's the most disappointing. Is the potential of what you could see happening in. It wasn't crazy to think that illinois could get two for the national championship game with. I mean that was wasn't unrealistic. You know it wasn't unrealistic than the zoo could have had a seven seed play. You know win that game. Two seed allston wind up in the in the sweet sixteen. We've we saw mizzou beat alabama this year mizzou beat illinois this year. The potential was there we saw the potential with slough could be you know and to have all three of those teams not just not reach the potential but fall. Far short of what expectations could have been disappointing. Give some credit to layla and puerto. Moser's let's start there. What did they do well. And how are they able to give the annoys such trouble really from wire-to-wire i mean they really just controlled the game. They really did they. They played smart basketball. It didn't turn the ball over. They didn't allow illinois to get out and run focused. Defensively stink keys. That's much like they did a couple of years ago in the run the final four the they executed game plan very well. There's a difference between having a game plan and executing game plan and know the the loyola team i'd against illinois to the same thing it did the on the run to the final four. It really executed the game plan very very well so what you make of loyal is chances next and again at team that i think. Sometimes we don't know a lot about a team or especially amid a major. We get caught in a lot of cliches but they can do a lot of different things. They can play in a lot of different ways. Yeah they absolutely can. I am stunned. I i wrote this on. We talked about the matchup was most looking forward to in the ncaa. Tournament was illinois verse. Oklahoma state i thought that was gonna be a great notch up. I thought it was a final four worthy matchup and you could have taken every single cent of my bank accounts if you bet that neither of those teams even make the the the potential matchup in the sweet sixteen. It's just really is stunning. But now all the soviet loyola looks to have. I'm not saying easy paths to the final four because there's never easy passes four but i they have a very manageable team. That just did did that. Illinois suddenly looks like it's a very realistic possibility that they play the way they did and they don't even have perfect and they could still be to the before ryan fagin with us from sporting news you can read them of course at sporting news dot com. Follow him on. Twitter at ryan fagin. Yeah i'm wondering about Mizzou and we saw gonzaga look great. Wouldn't mattered. i don't think or mizzou but for mizzou team just kind of frustrating. Last couple of minutes. xavier pinson not in the game. He announces that he will enter the transfer portal. Just kind of like a head scratching frustrating end to what had been an entertaining season. The tigers and console martin. Yeah you know i mean. I think that we've seen all all year from missoula. They're playing a good basketball. The tigers can beat anybody and the third. Not if they're playing head-scratching basketball times then they can lose to anybody you know. I mean it with the way that that game ended. You wondered if you know. The the sooners didn't have a couple of kids from mississippi. Mizzou couldn't do anything in the mississippi teams in se. Play this year so yeah it was. It was frustrating. The game was there you know they. They didn't play well and they still. They didn't play their best game and they still had a very realistic chance to win that game in the last three or four minutes to see his way like that. Yeah it's it's one thing to lose when you lose to a team that's playing perfectly and you just lose to a better team but when you lose a game that was that was winnable and that not all stick with you a little bit you been a lot of criticisms about console martin for instance and offensively the tigers maybe lack of identity there. Inconsistently are their inconsistency offensively. He's been around for a while. But i know. I asked you this question a couple of weeks ago and i wonder your opinion. Now what there is from zoo fans to be excited about if you feel like you know the kind of cornerstones Of the groundwork of a program has been laid by con zona staff. It's been a couple years with the puerto brothers. That injury disappointment now getting some new players in. Where do you feel. Like ms program is as a program at this point right now i think the the thing with mizzou is you have to look at where it was still. I still think you have to judge the program. Not would it could be not what. It wasn't the norm stored peak era. Or even the you know. The quin snyder teams. Were pretty good before that all fell apart. Yeah it's it's still a program that's trying to get there. You know they're trying to do that. Some with transfers or trying to do that with recruiting. You know the porter brothers. When i think every zoo families still wonder what what might have been if michael junior was healthy and clean and they were dante who i think was in a lot of ways. Better than a lot of people thought he might be. He was kind of the other brother. I wanna be a really good college basketball player so now they're always those questions i still think he's a good person to have their martin is and i think that i always say. Give him time because people don't have a lot of patients with that kind of thing right now but i. I still think he's the guy that's going to help stabilize the long term nature of the program which is something that you know. Quite frankly zoo hasn't had in quite a while. Have your opinions of any of the top seeds in the tournament. Change to this point ryan No i've been. I was impressed. With what michigan did against lsu without as livers you know. He's one of the better player. He added one of the better players in college basketball last few years. And you know with him. I thought that michigan was the most vulnerable of the one seeds. You know and for them to be. The wolverines to the only big ten team left in the tournament is quite shocking. Especially when you just suppose that with the pac twelve which has four teams left when most people said one at most in the sweet sixteen. But you know desire. Looks like like we thought they would you know they. They're a phenomenal team. In the oklahoma played about as well as could be against seven gonzaga was still on cruise control from the second half and put the game away when it needed to on baylor's played better defensively and then had a large stretches in the later half of the season. They're playing more like a team that is capable of getting to that title game than they did. Maybe in the in the previous three or four weeks so houston I feel like the resume deserved to but are they to seat good. You know. i'm not sure. And they got lucky quite honestly to get past rutgers in that second round. And that's why you know talking about his chances of getting go. Final floor of it comes down to a loyal verse houston game in the elite eight. I.

"So junior, we have AH, winner finally coming out of the NFL season congrats the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but we know it's way more than that, because a big narrative going into the season was Who was more responsible for the Patriots success. Tom Brady or Bill ballot check. Now I feel like we might have been inching towards an answer, especially after what went down on Sunday and Max Kellerman are our own ESPN on ESPN. First take, I believe is on Monday, he joined and he basically said on first take Talking about Tom Brady seven Super Bowl win How this overall effects Bill Belichick's legacy. It raises questions about Belichick. It just does. I know that Grady left the cupboard bare and made that argument. I always thought it was more Belichick. I was sure it was more Belgian. But now I have to admit I have to wonder. Clearly, I wasn't giving Brady enough credit, but he just won the Super Bowl in year one. Now. Where? The bucks loaded? Yep, sure work everywhere. You look they were loaded. Okay? Did he leave the cover bare for? Belichick was coaching under very difficult circumstances and still did a nice job. Seven and nine. Yes, he did. We don't have 1000 seasons to play out to sea run perfect experiments to see who was who. This is pretty much as good as you could ask for Brady's on a new team Bellatrix coaching without him. And by the way, if anything, the coach had the advantage. When the coach is older, he should still be good. Brady's 43. So the answer does this affect politics? Legacy legacy? The answer is, yes. He has to now win without Brady. He can't just all that's a good coaching job. He went eight Nate this season. Nope. He's got to make deep playoff runs. He should win a ring without Brady before all is said and done or his legacy. The great debate. Is it more balletic or Brady shockingly, to me will be won by those who said no, no, no, it was more Brady. Yes, this is a big deal. Tangled junior here on ESPN Radio. Michael Junior engineer. Okay, we have We have arrived here now. And today. We're Max Kellerman all the time here on ESPN Radio as well. And this is one of those instances where I understand, We're always going to have the Brady Bella check conversation. It's just unavoidable. We got Danny Amendola adding fuel to that fire this week, but to say And argue that it was more one. The other is one thing, but to say were affecting legacies right now. I don't know why. We always seem to have to go a bridge too far on some of these when Bill Belichick is going to leave football as the greatest coach that we have ever seen as someone who has been not only a coach, but the architect of these team, and so many ways, has made diligent moves around. Tom Brady has helped them and benefited from Tom's greatness. But also been able to put different parts and different generations with different coordinators. In a way that really on Lee Nick saved in Alabama can really stare Ida I with his peers, regardless of the level of competition, So I understand where this is coming from today, but I feel like it's some point we gotta put up stop signs. Yeah, I think it was a big deal. Obviously the first year that they part and so obviously you would think that Bill Belichick like, Yeah, it's on you. But what Tom Brady was able to do was to, you know, sort of curate his own version of success in a way that most people don't get the opportunity. As coaches like you have to rebuild from the ground up. You have a lot of more responsibilities, including the G. M rolled that he has to do as well. And so, yeah, I feel like I can't good or great. Be great enough. Both of these guys are great, and I feel like that's good enough for all of us. Well, I know Cliff would dispute that around here again. Demands takes from us in any given past. So Cliff was what Max brought to the table on this a little more off What you've been looking for from us later. That was a very good thing he took in a painting. He took a stance. He was firm with it, he said Bella check needs to redeem himself. Um, I may not believe in to take, but there's a tape right? That is true and Bella check needing redeem himself again. We heard it earlier from callers on W. EI. The Greg Hill show has been inundated with angry Bostonians who look at the situation now longingly from afar. Let's get back into the well on this one. This is Caller Bill enjoying Tom Brady's win on W E. I This is Bill. Oh, Bill. Morning. What's up, Phil? I feel fantastic Curtis, but I'm in. Then you must feel like you tried puke it out the window. But the window was up for a game. I hated both teams visible light. You What influence from Quincy? A lot of those other folks. I am just so a static. I feel like I'm on cloud nine because of all the people that drove that guy out of this town. The guy would have stayed here if they gave him the extension. He wasn't looking for moment. You're telling me he stopped worth 50% of Patrick the homes? Of course he is. Touch Mom's 50 year they were insulting him. They were slipping in the bird. Anyway, Let's go celebrate Curtis. Flipping in the burgeoning is everyone in Boston looking and clearly when we talk about who the kids are going within the divorce, they have walked out of the building, and they're going to Papa Tom's house. That is so funny, but at least they can live vicariously through Tom because he still is. There's at least you know, for the moment in their spirit. I It's It's amazing to think about Jenny what we saw over the weekend with newly Hall of Fame announced Peyton Manning, showing up to a game in gym Mercedes plane but causing drama wearing the Broncos colors on his suit I can on Lee Imagine today in a world somewhere 2050 when Tom Brady retires and is eligible for the hall when he shows up with Tampa Bay, pewter and red When he is inducted into the Hall of Fame. I wanna watch the world burn on this one. You love chaos. My goodness I do. I can't help myself sometimes now coming up next. I want to get into what? The Suitcase Murder

"Welcome to hurry. I'm Jill and I'm Dick the bill and Melanie McGuire were an attractive couple in their thirties. They had two young sons to successful careers and they just disclosed and a five hundred thousand dollar home when bill disappeared. Melanie told their friends that they had fought on the night when they closed on their new home bill bill had physically attacked her and walked out telling her he was done with her buildings seem like the type of guy who would hit his wife and lead his children behind but Melanie insisted that he had hit her and walked out on his family. She even went to court and took out a restraining order against bill as the days passed did no one heard from bill. Melanie appeared to be moving on with her life without him but bills family and friends were worried bill had been a gambler may get pissed off the wrong people then a bizarre story got everyone's attention. I A Kenneth Cole suitcase was found in Virginia Beach and it contained aimed a pair of bloodless male human legs that had been severed at the knees one week later Virginia Beach Police recovered a second suitcase that was part of the same in Kenneth Cole set it held a five pound weight black trash bags and more human remains this time it was a man's head in torso but here this man was and when he had been killed were still unknown then the third last suitcase was recovered within two weeks it contains the man's hips and thighs. Virginia Beach Police launched an extensive investigation to identify the victim and identified him as Bill McGuire join us at the quiet in today for a very haunting case that became known as the suitcase murder well respected fertility nurse Melanie he McGuire was accused of her husband's murder and dismemberment and she faced life in prison. Although her attorney would argue her innocence a complex unraveling reveling of the facts would reveal a twisted murder plot which grew from infidelity greed and hate New Jersey case means new New Jersey near yeah figured I'm assuming she killed him in New Jersey. That's the belief yes. She didn't dump his body parts in New Jersey. I don't think now aw but the killing was done so I picked a beer called head high which is brewed by Kane Brewing Company in Ocean New Jersey Far Southern Jersey assist the shore head high is an American. It A in at six point six percent alcohol by volume pretty nice beer hazy orange colour. You're a whitehead some pretty lace aroma of citrus and pine. We have a citrus taste upfront grapefruit and tangerine primarily then some pine nine overlaps and Caramel Mo- nicely hop beer good bitterness the nice beer more vo west coast. IPA TRY IT. That sounds Cilicia. I love that kind of beer. This is your Beer Jill. Yes okay. Let's open that up right away. All right lead the way why down to the quiet end in you can begin our story. Bill McGuire was born in nineteen sixty four in river edge. New Jersey the two older sisters his father worked as a pressman for the New York. Times and his mother stayed home with kids. A billy was the baby of the family family. He got a lot of attention. Here's a cute but very rambunctious kid now when he was four years old his parents divorced bill's mother had to take a job to support the children so she worked the night shift wild bill's oldest sister. Cindy babysat her siblings the Mon- Work Six nights a week so Sunday began to feel like she was a second mother to Bill Leeann. I think bill really looked at her that way even as an adult or you're she had a very maternal influence on his life and when bill was twelve his sister. Cindy moved out and married a guy named bill. Gosh he was an older man who was a pharmacist first and then bills other sister. Nancy moved out as well. Their parents had divorced and remarried a few times so it was very unstable. Environment Sir remarried controller yes back and forth while and Nancy would later accused their father of sexually abusing her too so there's a lot going on in the home sounds work so bill went to Catholic school and he was a decent B. Student. He was quite outgoing and a lot of friends when he was just fifteen ran ran away from home and went to live with Cindy and her husband and he did live with them for a while but eventually left after not following all of her household rules because Cindy was strict then after that he went to his sister Nancy but she didn't have room for him so for awhile bill lived with his high school coach and then he lived with the family of one of his best friends so this is kind of a hard scrabble life he had in his teens assurances. Just been a Roman around yeah. Yeah doesn't have any stability really not much now and we're not really sure what was going on in the home that he felt like he had to run away but it was probably tumultuous between the parents. I mean just the fact that they were together the not together then together the not together. I mean that's that's in stable ripple enough her unstable enough by itself. Yes absolutely so bill was living with his friend. Lenny and his parents and Lenny's twelve year old sister Marcie Darcy got a really big crush on bill so after graduating in nineteen eighty two bill joined the navy thought it would give him some direction in life leaving both his high school girlfriend behind and young Marcy. He broke two hearts when he left the navy bill made friends with a guy named Joe Rice Ace. He was another recruit who was three years older at first. Joe Thought that bill was kind of obnoxious because he was always showing off and telling jokes but then the two men eventually became close friends and bill was very well dressed and bought himself a Camaro which he shouldn't have been able to afford he would admit to Joe that he was opening up checking accounts in fake names and writing bad checks in order to finance the lifestyle that he wanted to live Marino. I got certain needs in my life. I'm just gonNA write checks. I think that's the way he looked at it and remember this is a guy who didn't have much guidance right and he he was really taken with having things that he had had growing up so not to make excuses because it really wasn't a good thing to do of course of course yeah but now that's what he did so in nineteen eighty five. I guess he's been in the service for about three years at this point bill's girlfriend from back home. Lisa flew down in Norfolk to Sam on a weekend. Leave a few months later bill visit Lisa in Vernon New Jersey but their relationship came to an end over well he was in New Jersey Bill. Marcy asked her out on a date and then he and Marcie gradually became a couple and kept in touch with pitcher yes so after Joe Rice married his girlfriend he told bill about how much more money would be making his naval marriage benefits his income nearly doubled after near his girlfriend and then it wasn't too long after that when bill decided to ask Marcie Mary him so a lot of people thought bill just did that to make more money. Let's the impression absolutely his buddies. Tahoe are almost doubled my income so bill's Franken. That's brewing right. We'll marcy was younger though she just graduated from high school but she was very very taken with bill and she accepted did his proposal and she moved down to Virginia to live with bill and to go to College Marsin Bill secretly married in a civil ceremony and then they moved into into a one bedroom apartment together nineteen ninety bill left the navy after earning his associate's degree from tidewater Community College Bill Dylan Marcy Move to Edison New Jersey and he started attending rutgers university where he was going to study pharmacology bill and Marcy moved into an apartment and both took jobs in local restaurants to pay the bills but bill is unhappy then he wanted to split up nineteen ninety two he left. Marcy surprised her. I guess pretty much broker heart 'cause the next two years. She tried to win him back but bill never looked back at Marcy. Who's WHO's dating new women again almost right away after the break-up yeah he had already really checked out of the marriage and then in the summer of nineteen ninety four for a friend of bills introduced him to Melanie slate. The two were attracted to each other and they seem to have a lot in common. They seem to really make a good match. Watch so a little bit about Melanie. Melanie Lynn slate was born in nineteen seventy two in Ridgewood New Jersey. Her father left her mother. When Melanie Melanie was still a baby and then he died a few years later from cancer. Melanie's mother Linda moved back into her appearance on with her daughter and Melanie's Janis Aunts and grandmother helped to raise her her mother. Linda can you to her secretarial job in Manhattan and that's where she began having an affair with her boss Michael Caporetto and that would last for years and Years Melanie grew up beside Michael Cap narrows son Michael Junior and and when Captain Aero finally left his wife he and his son moved in with Linda Melanie but it certainly wasn't the ideal childhood. Her doesn't sound black. Does it now so the kids would go along with Lyndon Michael when they went to Atlantic City Michael Junior and Melanie. You were usually left alone in hotel. Rooms are pretty lengthy times while appearance gambled Michael Senior was such a high stakes gambler learn they were often given comte hotel suites in room service for the children. SA- gambling really can be a serious addiction. WHOA course I've never never really known anyone that has it by Sir with sound of surprise well after I read about this I looked into some other issues with that and children and there is a problem in Atlantic City and Las Vegas of people just Kinda dumping their kids and running off to gamble for days at a time were very often read stories about the type of thing apparent has come the gamble and just dump the kids somewhere. You're gives them a few dollars. Say go under around how fine the gamble one. I think forget about their kids. They get so involved in it because there have been instances was reading about where children have been molested or even kidnapped napped. You know little girls using the restroom in a casino by themselves ECORSE. That's not why s- some horrible things have happened because of this so the only thing I can think is it must be a very strong addiction like drugs for people to leave their kids like that sure immune. A lot of these people are normally holly good parents but this is how Michael and Melanie grew up with a lot of that now even though their parents had some money and they were comps suites they were still abandoned on their own so they became very self sufficient these kids. I guess that's the good part about it. Melanie was really an excellent student and issue reached her teens. She was a beautiful girl. She had long wavy brown hair and a petite figure. She became very self confident and was very flirtatious with the boys at school. Some of the other girls disliked her but melanie had an outward kind. Tyus Battle's 32 Lead Syracuse to Shocking Upset Win over Zion Williamson, Duke

"A lot going on in the world of sports. We'll get into more dominance from James harden, a decision that gets pretty easy for the defending Super Bowl champions in my mind at this point a decision yesterday did seem to be a no brainer. That for some reason. I felt like we treated like a lot more than it was. That still has plenty of drama left to unfold for one major NFL prospect. But I. Holy hell Zion. Williamson I understand that Duke lost. I understand that. And if you missed it last night. Syracuse went on the road upset Duke ninety five ninety one in overtime. We got a little free basketball, which for those of us watching the bachelor last night. There is nothing like watching Colton going camping with the girls and the bachelor house and seeing simultaneously. Oh, I'm getting free basketball to this was all of my worlds coming together in the absolute best ways possible. Now for the Duke side of things I understand Duke lost. But when you look at the circumstances around why it becomes not only understandable. But I think it's never excusable. I want to say that right now Duke is too talented across the board the guys that they had left on the court. We're still good enough to where you have to get this done at home. And I say left on the court because part of the story for Duke last night going into the game. Cam reddish, one of the stars in their team missing with illness. Not in an available for them in the game. And then about five and a half minutes in trae Jones their star guard a guy who's a defensive juggernaut for them and a huge catalyst for them. Offensively leaves the game with what Mike chef ski described after as a shoulder sprain. It's a shoulder sprain. And we'll put out because I'm not gonna do medical stuff. But it's a sprain. There's no break, although he was in a lot of pain. He's a kid that the toughest kid right away. I don't know if my car broke bonus broken, you know, and it was that it was hurting that badly, but it's a sprain. And that was my worry. The I I saw that you thought it might have been a broken collarbone, which would have been devastating for this do blue devils team that listen the proof is in the pudding like the when he is on and off the court for them just within the body of this game be five minutes and change that he was on the court during this game Duke point differential, plus eight with him on the court field goal percentage. Fifty five point six percent with him off the court the point differential, minus twelve thirty six point six percent field goal percentage. They suffer offensively they suffer defensively where he's one of the best, man. Demand defenders in the ACC. And so that is going to affect you always said when it comes to injury. Usually we talk about it with the timing going into the season. At different points of the year, injuries are going to affect you differently. And so if you're a star player that gets injured at the beginning of the season ally. Last Joseph the Boston Celtics, for example, Gordon Hayward being injured at the beginning of the season. You spend the entire rest of the year. Figuring out how you adjust without Gordon Hayward. Kyrie Irving being injured right before the playoffs. All of a sudden, that's a major adjustment for a guy who has been a huge part of your offense. You might grow that down to a single game. And Cam rightish, who you know is not going to be available to you. That night is one way you adjust the game plan. Trey Jones going down in the body of that game is another completely when you have to now adjust without that guy on the court for you without the certainly the encore leadership that he brings you and all that production, and so the energy shifted as one might say. To Zion Williamson at RJ Barrett. Who took who scored fifty eight combined points last night the second most by Duke freshman duo under Mike shefty, but it wasn't quite enough. And I say all this again is a backdrop to discredit Syracuse for going in there and getting a win. And Lord knows we have become accustomed to Syracuse teams throughout the course of time underachieving during the regular season finding a way to make a run that alternately lands them in a Sweet Sixteen type season. That's the capability always exists with a Syracuse team. But man, you even heard Jim pay Heim after this who as usual was lighting up the sidelines in a way that the internet sopped up and enjoy tremendously even Jim boeheim after this kind of understood like man, there was a lot working against Duke. And we are still the team as Twitter would remind you last night big night for Old Dominion Twitter. Because ODU Twitter was reminding you the transit of property can be ineffective you so choose and college basketball, and this is a Syracuse team that. Lost to Old Dominion earlier this year, and you can kind of hear their head coach wearing that dukes. Great team. They don't have to other key guys. That's the breaks of the game. Sometimes. Those two guys the whole game. But you know, it's just one of those things. I watched one tape white may eight threes one game. I think seventy a lot. He couldn't tonight. That's just the way the game is sometimes I am. I asked Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Duke talk about not being able to buy one from three that was the other thing there were a lot of specific jokes made about the sexual prowess of the bachelor over the course of last night. Those were only outnumbered by Duke missed three point shots in a game where they went nine for forty three. Again, a game in which one of their best offense players out. They went nine for forty three. The most three point field goal attempts in school history. Duke now becoming the fifth AP number one team to lose at home to an unranked team in the last ten seasons. So. An outlier in a lot of ways. Again, you look at all the things surrounding this performance. I'm inclined to look at these and not excuse a loss. But understand the circumstances around and say, all right. I'm not going to sound the alarms yet for do. Because this is still a Duke team that again man you saw what Zion is capable in. The midst of all this for a team that has struggled this season against own. We know no one really runs it better than Syracuse. In a lot of ways Zion still thirty five points in a loss. He goes thirty five and ten in this game. He becomes the first major conference player. With thirty five ten four and a game since Kevin Durant. Did it back in two thousand and seven and you saw for all the talk. We had about on a while back. I want to be known as more than just a dunker. You saw that on display last night because him going down and being that differentiating force in the paint. And that's where in the past by the passed earlier this season when you look at the other loss to zag and the things that undermine them in that game with teams clogged up, the paint, this outfit tend to have a bit of trouble. And you saw them do a better job of that last night. They just couldn't hit shots. Like, it's we always hear about the NBA to make making mislead couldn't hit shots your one of your best players and a guy who initiate your offense. And your defense goes out within the first five minutes of the game last night. And all of a sudden the plan changes. Now, what it means going forward becomes entirely different and Jay Bilas ESPN college basketball analyst pointed that out that long term for Duke. The worry. I think any team that loses a point guard like that is going to have some issues and.

Kareem Hunt apologizes, says NFL never interviewed him about assault

"You know, it's been a tough time for man. I'm extremely embarrassed. Because of that video I last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, the videos disgusting, like we I hope we it's being spoon fed to us. This is disgusting. And this is the unfortunate part is it always seems like we need a video to believe these kind of acts are possible in these situations that the burden of proof always seems to be that high. So there's that which we can help with all of this begins and ends with Kareem hunt did an awful thing. And then we are led to believe in the chiefs came out and said Kareem was not truthful to us about the nature of these events back when they interviewed him after this incident. And so the chiefs said this video constitutes new information to us were making this decision. He wasn't truthful with us we can't condone this. He's gone. And a lot of people said that feels reactionary now I wanna play to bits of sound for you from Sunday NFL countdown yesterday. This is Louis Riddick are ESPN NFL front office insider talking about why he believes just including the lies that Kareem hunt was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in that interview, rather it just doesn't come off. Right. It doesn't come off as cream really grasping. Exactly. What is going on here? And how explosive this situation isn't how important the situation is. And he really let the kids see cheese. No choice. I don't believe that. She's just cut because there was no video. I believe it was because they really just didn't know exactly what had happened. And he they asked him what happened. And they and he's still did not know rather didn't come forth. This becomes the confusing part here is because the chiefs interviewed him within the NFL takes over this investigation. And it's league protocol where if the league starts an investigation the team will stop investigating and let the league take over. And I assume that just in a general sense seems to be trying to avoid a conflict of interest that makes sense in my mind, but the question. And then can be asked if the league didn't interview him and the chiefs couldn't get a hold of this video a lot of people are going to ask the question. I don't think it's unfair to ask if the NFL or the chiefs didn't know how much did they really want to because it seems like now this came up, and it's it's very reactionary doesn't seem like a lot of this process was proactive, and I was talking to our ESPN senior writer me at times yesterday. And the point got brought up that this in part could be due to the way things went for the NFL when they dealt with the Ezekiel Elliott case in the suspension surrounding that. And how so many people thought they were overstepping their bounds with Ezekiel Elliott based on the amount of evidence. They had their disposal. And so if you're the NFL you've got that swing of the pendulum after it was the complete other way with Ray rice and with Greg hardy and with Josh Brown. And with all these players were people in think you didn't nearly enough. And so that's the other part of the Sam ponders the host of Sunday. NFL countdown spoke about the message this sense from the NFL going forward message. Hopefully that we're going to start sending two women and two men who care in this country is that it doesn't matter. If you love the NFL in rushing last year, it doesn't matter if you're on all our billboards, or whenever you put your hands on a woman, we're done, and I hope the NFL can make that a little more clear the investigation process than they did this time I last year on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, and I thought Sam did a good job of resetting that conversation coming off of Koreans interview. Because there is a lot of we sit around, and we judge the interview, and we judge the suspension links, and we judge all these things I always wonder how productive they are. Because again, it's easy for us all to get up here. And obviously talk about how disgusting this is to see it on tape and how wrong it is. We all know that. We're not dumb. But then we get Jasper Lucas tweets is in cream hunted that interview because he's trying to line up another opportunity with another team. He's still lying. He hasn't shown remorse, and if I'm an NFL GM, I wanna see him out of football for at least a year during which he's doing domestic violence related community service, etc. That's the other thing is I don't think any of us know how to handle this. And we don't listen to enough of the right people in this because I sat and I thought man what's the length of the suspension going to be like for Reuben foster cream haunted. How far will that go for the league? And again, you can address PR in that way. But when you're trying to address the heart of the issue the way so many people in the NFL claim to want to do what do you do outside of just signaling to fans because this is a guy Kareem hunt is going to be back on an NFL football field. So in the meantime, what do you do to make sure that he comes back better? What do you actually do? That's becomes the part. That's infinitely more important. Here's how do we protect the victims in this? And how do we make sure that if these guys are going to because of their football town, we know end up back on the field. How do we? Ensuring if you're the NFL, how do you go and actually live up to some of the things that you're talking about as far as player development and ensure that these guys if they're going to be back come back better and not just come back punished in a way that's going to satiate the mob outside of your door. It's a it's an extremely complicated issue one that won't have any resolution now, but one that will certainly get into more later coming up on golden window as well. We'll switch gears completely getting back to the world of sports and get to the one staff that caught me completely off guard this morning, that's next. It's first and last here on ESPN radio the

"For the eagles. This is a definite step back that much. I can be sure of in Doug Peterson understands there's going to have to be some soul-searching starting with myself all of us. You know, this look at ourselves in the mirror, and are we are we doing enough? Are we given enough each week? It's a strength. I mean, you have to have to strain yourself to make plays. That's just the way this game is and. We didn't do enough of that today. And that's that's the disappointing thing. You know and just just gave up too many too many plays defensively. And then offense didn't execute. Enough. And so that's that's disappointing disappointing thing, but each person each coach each player in that locker room we have to. You have to really look at yourself and decide every day you come to work that you're going to give your best and you're going to do everything you can to get better and help this team win. College football Week 1 wrap-up

"Twitter feed now last night in college football had the cap to the first weekend in college football. And we have great matches the last two nights. So obviously, no NFL this weekend. No NFL games coming up until this weekend. And so we had to nightcap college football games. LSU? Miami was a blowout. LSU announcing very loudly to the nation that they are here in Miami. We're gonna have to wait on them being back for a little while longer. Well, Virginia Tech announcing something in very similar fashion. A twenty four to three victory over Florida state with first year coach Willie Taggart in tow for the Seminoles. Now, how bad was last night's loss for Florida state? How bad this all work? Well, glad you asked last night for Florida's state especially offensively because so much of what Willie Taggart did and was coming in to do was centered around this uptempo offense. We had seen him jump. Start a program like south Florida seen him in his stop at Oregon will last night. Florida state ran sixty three offensive plays thirty five went four zero or negative yards. That is fifty five and a half percent of their place. If it weren't for one long camakers one Cam was well on his way to averaging under a yard a carry. It was that bad across the board for Florida state. And really it looked for a long time to be that bad for the ACC. This is a conference that had been gaining momentum steadily over the last couple of years while on a weekend where we saw the SEC go what thirteen and one on the weekend to started off, including dominant performances against their other power five brethren? Well, all of a sudden now. You had company last night where the ACC on the other side looks like Clemson and word he'd been Clemson and Miami starting to gain ground. Virginia Tech will certainly have some claiming this but outside of a stellar first quarter. The defense look great the offense still in very fitting fashion with a lot of the rest of the the weekend. We saw a lot of okay timely offense and a lot of really stellar defense. Justin, Fuente Virginia Tech head coach last night talking about what he learned from their week one victory. Well, obviously there in the third quarter. We kept them pinned down. And I was worried that we we let a couple of too many opportunities get away, but we found a way to get it done. I'm proud of our kids first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. So with week one of the books that seems to be the story is right now, we can talk about the Pac twelve record and standing in the last few seasons. But the ACC right now seems to be a conference where you're going to have one team.

Odell Beckham will report to Giants camp on time

"Talk about other wide receiver. Odell Beckham junior was back in March. Kinda felt like man is a really good chance that Odell Beckham junior is going to hold out as he seeks a new contract. He's gonna play this season under his rookie deal. It's gonna pay him about eight and a half million bucks, but he showed up for many Cam. He participated in most of the giants off season program and word is he is going to be there tomorrow when the New York Giants begin training camp. Here's a Jordan Renna on ESPN NFL giants reporter on sportscenter last night, talking about what Dell showing up the giants training camp means he's doing all the things giants. Ask them shown up minicamp showing up to OTA's. Now he's going to show up the training camp. Look. He had an option here Khalil Mack. Aaron, Donald day matrix differently. They may not show up for their teams. Adele, this guy wants to play football, right? He's a football player dying to get back out there. So he wants to get out there during training camp and he's putting the ball in the giants court and saying, hey, look, I'm doing everything possible to get this deal done. I want to be here, right? I'm doing whatever you guys asked me. I want to be in New York Giants. Let's get this done and there's really hasn't been any serious negotiations so far to this point Odal Beckham junior getting a report to a giant strain cabbies obvious coming off a year where he had the broken ankle only played in four games that remains to be seen, how much is it going to practice? Will he be on the field on Thursday when workouts begin? Is gonna play in the preseason and do the giants get a deal done with him during training camp historically. And obviously there's a regime change in New York, but historically, when the giants do these things like they did with ally manning these things take place behind closed doors, they don't typically, you know, show their cards. Regards to contract extensions, what they might do a certain players. So does this get done? It's a very good show of good faith by Odell Beckham, junior. If you're giants fan, it's like, dude, get it done for for as as much as del Beckham, junior Camby, quote, unquote distraction, and it's been immature before the whole, you know, going boat before the playoff game a couple of years ago with a bunch of his teammates and getting into fights with with Josh Norman, dude, Odell Beckham junior's one of the best three wide receivers in the game. You're not going to get anybody as good as him. You're certainly not gonna get any better than him. I'm not a big fan of saying, look, pay him and move on, but of got to do that, right. I mean, if you're the giants and you kinda going to go through this transition phase at some point where you move on from ally manning, maybe not this year, but at some point in the future and you've you've gotten saquon Barkley and you're looking to make a rebound from last year when he went three and thirteen Beckham junior's marvelously talented, he is still just. What twenty twenty six years old. His first three seasons in the NFL were historically great. Get it done, get it done, and the fact that he has shown up or gonna show up and be there for the beginning of training camp. That's a show of good faith. You have to reward that get the deal done and move on. And last podcast. Carmelo Anthony is the new rocket man. Why I, think mellow in Houston can work coming, up in just two minutes but first David Robinson was on the, jump yesterday sharing his thoughts on the Kawhi Leonard situation with his former team the oddest situations I think I've seen since I've been in pro basketball He's he's a hard guy to understand he's. A hard guy to read and you know. San Antonio which we we obviously have a reputation for taking care of. Our players, almost too much I mean people criticize, us for sitting guys down now of a sudden you know we, got a guy who says he felt pressure to play which is tough What can you do. A week, we typically don't risk our players health but I mean if, a guy's, not happy he's gotta go go somewhere where he can where, you can play That's, David Robinson the great David Robinson? The hall of Famer talking about Kawhi. Leonard on the, jump yesterday afternoon there was, something else that he said that I thought was interesting he said That he tried to reach out. To them And that he quote never heard anything back from him Now Leonard is famously quiet it's what's made this this whole situation with, the Spurs. Frustrating from San Antonio perspective and also really really, interesting now he's he's met with with Toronto. Raptors brass and but he hasn't had a press conference I guess there's there's. No sign indicating that he's actually going to have one he is, famously quiet. And if you want to be that way that's, fine if. You don't want to talk with the media that's cool if, you don't want wanna be exceptionally active on social media no problem. If you. Don't want to be a huge self promoter that's okay, if you. Don't want to chase a lot of endorsements that's, fine if you don't want to be an. NBA personality preferring. To just be an NBA basketball player that's totally cool But how do you not call. David Robinson Dak David Robinson it's, one of the most highly respected former? NBA? Players Ever ever David Robinson.
