"Next guest to talk about a team, a big market team with just an all time great NBA history, iconic players, iconic jerseys, iconic three pizza iconic championship runs iconic buzzer beaters that I'm beginning to think their current ownership maybe kind of likes that nobody really talks about them that they're just kind of off to the side, not receiving a lot of national scrutiny, not a receiving a lot of national attention when they are a brand, an international icon and they should be receiving a lot of attention for whatever reason is merited at the time. It's time to talk about the Chicago Bulls. Remember the Chicago Bulls? 6 time NBA champions Michael Jordan Scottie Pippen had Jimmy Butler for a hot second to three alphas appeared. There was the Fred weiberg era, there was Joe Kim Noah and Derek rose and then they reconfigured the whole team and they have three all stars on their team right now that got off to a hot start then the wheels came off due to injuries and COVID and they got destroyed in the first round of the playoffs and now it's kind of like, is anyone talking about them anymore? Are they still in the NBA? Are they still a hot team or are they a mediocre team? What are they do we know where Lonzo Ball is? Let's bring in a guy who was super high on the bulls last year and for 50 games looked smarter than the rest of us who were I would describe myself as lukewarm on the bulls. I think I had them as a play in team last year like a 7th or 8th seed in my seatings. I was obviously a little bit off on that. Chris herring from Sports Illustrated, how are you doing, sir? Doing really well. I appreciate you having me on. How are you? I'm good. I'm just a little flummoxed, Chris, I'm flummoxed. And I want to correct my flummoxed Ness. So we spend all July talking about the same 6 teams, and then like the sort of attached to those teams, teams like Miami and Phoenix and oh, hey, Milwaukee's still really good and Philly's doing this. We just the Chicago Bulls are just out of the discourse. They're just out. This is an all time great NBA franchise. They're just out of the discourse and in fact, Chris, the only time I've seen them in the discourse at all this summer, when what did they, what did they even do this summer? They signed Andre Drummond and Goran dragach drafted Dale and Terry who looked pretty good in summer league. Maybe there's a minor move or two that I'm forgetting, actually there is and I'm looking at the roster now. The only time I see them in the discourse is when their fans are angry and there was the anger, the billboard level anger, like the buy a billboard to get gar pack's fire level anger, that's subsided to a love fest for the new regime because they threw caution to the wind. At least they went for it. Did they trade way too much for Nicole voodoo? Maybe, but at least it was fun and they had a direction. And then this summer, the only, there's a new anger, which is, why have we not spent the mid level exception? Why have we not spent the bi annual exception? Are we just hell bent on ducking the text? How are we supposed to feel about the bulls who 40 or 50 games into the season last year, Chris, we were having conversations like, could they make the Conference Finals? Are they are they like an injury away from being too too in the Conference Finals? Are they a real threat to these other teams and then Boston ascends Miami ascends Philly's whoosh got something going on, I guess. The Brooklyn drama. Like, what is this team? What should we be talking about? We gotta talk about the bulls. Well, you're absolutely right. I think you're spot on about the idea that this, if you had to ask the average fan, you know, I live here looking out at the city right now. I should have mentioned you are a resident of Chicago Illinois. I should have probably mentioned that in the intro. No, I mean, I think people who listen to you and if know enough about me know that, although a lot of people still think I live in New York. The fans, I think, are frustrated. Similar, I guess the opposite from last year, they were really excited last year. I think a lot of them were at least curious about the Derozan pick up, which people were mixed about how they felt about that. I think fans were at least excited to see the team going for it. That was kind of the angle and the approach I took in writing about them last year is that regardless of whether or not you love Derozan as a player, they've improved. It was very clear that they'd at least improved to where they could be talked about as a playoff team for a team that had missed the playoffs for four years in a row and had the worst record in the league over those last four years. And that's what they were. I think you might have even understated a little bit. Obviously, there was talk about the Conference Finals. At one point last year, in the possibility of them getting there, they were in first place until, was it mid February? It was like after the all star break, they were still in first place. And they must be clear. That was with pat Williams having not played to that point. He played. He played 17 games. And then, of course, after that Lonzo and Caruso or during slash after that, their back court, their thieving back court, their pickpocketing back court that was the only thing somehow propping up this defensive team that finished 23rd in defense overall, despite looking like a top ten defense for much of the season, was because of those two guys and they missed essentially half the season. Right. So that's to me if I'm looking at it if I'm trying to look through the prism of bulls fans, it's kind of this question of how can you have been in first place through and I don't know. It might have been even later than this, but at least mid February. I'm looking at basketball references historical standings. They were at least tied with the Miami Heat. February 15th per first place in the east. How are you in first place in a really, really knocked down drag out sort of conference like the east two thirds of the way through this season and you're not doing anything

"Of our time Man with the intellect of a 7 day old piece of rotting liverwort has decided to chime in on the rittenhouse case as well Those are your fake tears LeBron James That's LeBron He decides to do this all the time He was the one who wanted to give police officers law enforcement advice member with that knife incident But strangely quiet when it comes to communist China imprisoning Uyghurs and torturing them It doesn't say much about that Then one will affect that bottom line That's the difference between guys like me and LeBron James like I don't really care about the bottom line I spent my whole life living a rather frugal lifestyle so I would never be pressured by the temptations of money to do things that violated my principles LeBron can't do that you know makes a lot of money for the NBA in China so don't speak out against China but whenever you want to chime in about anything else you just go right ahead So LeBron said that it made me think of something Scottie Pippen was up to you too Scottie Pippen for those of you who don't know played with Michael Jordan back in the day And Scottie Pippen who would have been nothing without Michael Jordan as decided to post career just keep attacking Michael Jordan I met Michael Jordan once he was a very nice guy It was a great moment Someone joke with them and said hey Michael those guys are Republicans You're taking a picture with and he said man I don't care I like everybody And I thought that was very nice I don't think a lot of pictures with people but that was one I cherish He was a very nice guy But to suggest to that Michael Jordan Scottie Pippen suggested LeBron was better than Jordan You got to be crazy That's a bonkers lunatic opinion I'll get to why in a second and this China story quick before we wrap it Let me get to this first day.

Ob topping twenty four points in his summer league. debut don't forget. Ob didn't have summer league last year. So a lot of people talking about that today. Obviously a lot of people meeting you and your group chain being the top and family and i do want to get into the energy around team. Usa because that's something that stuck out to me as well you know. I'm an energy guy. I read the room and the energy. I could tell del tufo was not in a good mood this morning. So you noticed. We went around the room. We included brockman tj. del tufo. On the weekend. I could read. Energy wasn't quite there. Do you remember bill paxton and apollo thirteen when he's got a restart command module. Well i had to do a lot of that this morning. i'm back oh. I grew up in the south pacific. See so so the energy around team. Usa basketball is something. I want to get into because as soon as draymond green won a gold medal. I believe it's his second gold medal and draymond green joining a very interesting list of basketball players with at least three nba titles and two gold medals. Michael jordan scottie. Pippen kobe bryant lebron and draymond green the only nba players with three titles and two olympic gold medals and soon as he got off the court in tokyo he was calling out kendrick. Perkins i how did we get there in terms of basketball and the energy surrounding the game. We're gonna have kendrick perkins on in about an hour. Who is tweeting tweeting about dre. Mon- shouting him out. How getting back and forth of you guys can't win. No yes we can see told john ha. It's very childish the energy around usa men's basketball. So i'm going to unpack that a little bit later on in the show. Plus we've got jay skis from the athletic. The dunks crews going to check in talk about the loss of the greatest raptor of all time. Kyle lowry and oj skeets big rafters fan. Plus terry jackson executive director of the w. n. b. p. a mother of jaren jackson junior. We're gonna talk a little bit about team women and what's up next for the wnba which gets back underway after the olympics plus the latest with michael thomas is twitter. This had brockman fired up. This had brockman more fired up than my cameo on entourage when she was watching before nine. Am one rule of advice in life to watch entourage before nine. Am love the show. "It's not about michael jordan. Was michael jordan scottie. Pippen still pretty good. You know bill wedding to not so good but he was on the team he did some good stuff too and got a couple of rings figure out your place in the wider world. And i like the idea of thinking about things sort of through a team. A team aspect. James ron says colonial to really save california. I think we've addressed already. I think it's possible. I think it's possible. Like if i didn't think it was possible. That what the hell would i be doing with my life. Why would be interviewing him. Why would i be talking about the ideas. I believe in like even in a crazy state. Anything can happen and remember this. Just think back to election night. Two thousand sixteen on air with the daily wire guys and andrew. Klavan said something to me. That really has stuck with me since then and credited him with this many times since when it was happening when we started realizing trump was gonna win and suddenly some of the states started rolling in it was like holy shit. The thing that nobody thought could happen is about to happen. Orangemen is going to be president. Hillary who is being handed. Everything is not going to be president. And at that time. I had voted for gary johnson. I wasn't happy with either one of those candidates. Obviously my feelings on trump change but like we were watching..

"Rodgers wide you. Brian goose wave. The guy eras furious. So here's the plan. Here's the plan braider. Don't even tell him. Joe leaving aaron rodgers their sign jay. Kuncoro make it like one of those viral videos where it's like all good news. Hey grandma against one. We haven't seen from naples in together every. Start crying fantastic thing. Look for jake coomer out to show up soon and the private jet from buffalo in all seriousness. It is good. It's a good sign that the packers brass brain are finally listening to aaron rodgers. Because it doesn't seem like this green joining new england bathroom real and then bring you know. George geordies geordies jordi georgia's happily retired jason. If he really loves. I think he was mad because he said he liked jake. And then they cut jake but if he really liked jake jake already be there right. Jake was not staying. He'll soon kentucky derby with aaron rodgers. Who was standing next to air launch. That was randall. cobb randall. God was standing there. That's why you're seeing randall. Cobb probably be on his way to appleton wisconsin here soon. Hey so so so really quickly. I know we got a jump here. So you're going to continue this slander of aaron rodgers. That's going to be your position today. That's a mortar impotent. And possibly all year. That's what you wanna do. It is one hundred vassals yesterday. I believe i believe in air rogers see. Why are you underestimating. All i'm saying is you've got a nice receiving core. You've got great running backs you've gotta solid division gotta solid offensive line. And you're one of the best to ever throw the football you posted. Michael jordan scottie. Pippen who wanted in their last go win this thing. I believe in rogers okay. You're selling them short low expectations. You know that could expectations. No no no no. You just said oh. He gets into the play offs and different aaron rodgers. That's what you see you. Try to pull up his playoff statistics. That's what you wanna do that. I'll prepare today. Listen gentlemen quick here two thousand fourteen this just out. Nineteen got you look. We have allowed to thirty thirty five yard you know. Let me keep go here. I want them to read on all three hours to discuss all of this this morning and we will packers on the field for the first track this a little later this morning so we'll probably see what's happened now. Actually we have. We have two hours for only a two hour show. I think now that. I think about the show i've been doing for five years. Let's shift the basketball. Nba chant jaanus channeling a couple of legends this off season kumar said legends. We'll tell you next ice to our version of the first things first. You see honestly latest stories besides saw his tweet. But how about i g busy on social last night. Greek greek posting photos of nba stars one tidal with their original teams. You know like himself. D. wade dirk a came koby and now again jaanus so brandon. You went around on janas embracing stars. Who wanted to china with her original team. I'm in. i'm all the way in on this. Look we saw The shirts earned the way. We heard the messages all throughout the finals at the parade. This is gone is wants to go down for. This is what he wants his legacy to be as. I did it the hard way. So this is this john train training us in everybody media how to talk about john and how his legacy will unfold. I stayed in milwaukee. And i did it there hardaway. I earned this song respected. I'm going on this as well. I love the only criticism. I have is. I wish he had also put isaiah. Thomas and michael jordan. Because only the real pioneers of staying put you could even say jerry west staying after all the heartache. All the struggles and still getting it done but i get it. He's only what twenty six years old. He started play when he was well. We might not even remember those guys. But i like the drama and i wonder is this a call out of the kevin durant the james harden maybe even the lebron james who didn't win it with the team. They were drafted by lisa. Initially for lebron. And so i'm here for all this drama. John is hang with the in crowd in the nba. He's like. I'm here to win chips and i'm doing the hard way like the whole food or slot love this and then he threw up a nice message in. Let's have a great off-season work so he's not resting on his laurels. And he's letting his teammates no we. We got more work to do okay superstar. I think it's a fair question. If other players are going to feel some type of way about this the also it after his press is After the championship in the post game press conference He started to say anybody you know specifically but if you were lebron and we know that janas is a historically nice guy like top-five nicest guys on the planet. He wanted to remember like he vowed devon booker and that play and he like purposely went over and apologize. He doesn't really seem to have a mean streak in the book talking about like he had to like Copy russell westbrook. Because he wanted to be meaner but he doesn't seem to be a mean guy or sarcastic guy. Doesn't bud so knowing that if you were another star player who popped around. Would you feel some kind of way about yon saying. That's not once after the post game. This second mentioned like it'd be shot at you. I would honestly and especially this media people like me or drumming it up but yeah i would feel like it's how else can you take it like. You say he said it at the end of the finals. They had the t shirts to hard way Now you got this. I wonder too while. We'll it could engender anger on the part of some of these guys in again. I'm here for that drama. Go out on the court and between the lines but also wonder we'll place remember damian lillard russell. Well the guy who's always pushed back on the super team and miller even as he's looking to win the championship. I still don't think he's all in on. Let me just go. Joy somebody else's teams and get one as a role player as a star playing a role. So i i think in control two ways it could upset some guys which is great glory could lead to some guys not wanting to do the super team things which could be good as well fringe shot at your nets but all that being said yeah with all that being said the nets are still the favourite to win the title next year. That's true at.

"Us on the good. You're my name is shay. Cornet he is jordan. Cornet were hanging out with the guys hanging in fear for the guys over the next couple of days and we start the day with. Aaron rodgers reportedly arriving in green bay. Start the day is brought to you by indeed higher right right now visit indeed dot com slash credit so yesterday mark murphy packers president spoke to. I believe it was. It was donors or investors or something along shareholders publicly-owned thank you Shareholders for the packers and this was prior to the news that aaron rodgers was indeed for sure coming back. So let's take a listen to mark murphy. Because i do feel like this sounds interesting and a lot of different ways. I think fans are frustrated with the situation. I think they kind of pox on both houses of us and errand but we've been in constant communication. It's obviously months and You know i'm hopeful that we'll have it all resolved. I do think our fans are split. And i think there's a lot of them that are just they want it resolved and i don't know if they're against the packers against aaron they want to see it resolved and i know people know how good player but i do think sometimes in these situations it's easy to forget what he's done. Okay that was mark murphy. The president of the green bay packers and he was speaking to shareholders prior to the news that aaron rodgers decided he is going to arrive the first day of training camp which is today and he will be staying with the packers for this year. At least and so jordan. When i hear that sound would noise me about that. Sound is the exact moment when mark murphy says i feel like our fan. Base is split. I don't know if they're against the packers or they're against aaron rodgers because you know what that was part of the packers doing they created that split. They created that tension and that that issue where pants had to choose. Sides did aaron rodgers ad that yes but whose voices have we been hearing this entire offseason. The packers nine aaron rodgers. And so when he says things like that it perturbs me. Because i'm like how are you supposed to have a fan base come together if this was the resolution you're hoping for which clearly it was if he says they were in constant communication the entire offseason. Why are you still throwing out this. Like packers versus errand scenario. Why isn't hey. We should really rally around this guy. Our hope is that he's going to come back in a packers uniform. He's going to under center. I understand the frustration. But guys just hang with us. We're hopefully going to have an answer soon. Why wasn't that the message. I hate this back and forth of us versus him and ultimately now they're gonna have to come together but it shouldn't have been like that in the first place you would hope that mark murphy and the rest of the brass there with green bay learned their lesson from the missteps in the past and i don't know if mark murphy already knew that this deal was pretty much a done deal at that point and aaron rogers come back. You don't know if it's posturing you don't know if he's trying to present himself as hey. This is very split. Does it was some of us. That are in in green bay. Some of our team aaron rodgers. But we made this thing happen. I i don't. I can't really get on the mindset there for mark murphy in that regard but what i can say is yeah you heard more from the management side. Because they had to be in front of the media they had to media or they had to address the shale shareholders. In the call that you're talking about. They had no choice. But to specially with the shareholders their investors you to talk to them about your brand and what the future and what projections look like. Aaron rodgers didn't have to do any of that in the match with the golf outing asked about it but he wasn't pushed on it and so he did. What professional should do. I mean yeah there was some of the the gimmicky stuff. And we're talking about the instagram story with michael jordan scottie. Pippen and how he was. You know taking subtle sub tweet shots or whatever. What have you. But he didn't have to address any of this. That wasn't on aaron rodgers to do that and he let his agent and he let it play out behind closed doors and i respect that part. I could've done without some of the pettiness that came from him but the guy was clearly hurt and good reason to feel that way so this opens the question now. to what is the fan base in wisconsin. Feel like and i. I don't resigned in wisconsin. But i do a family that resides in wisconsin. And yesterday. i called my dad. Who like born raised in wisconsin. Die hard packers fan his entire life. You know like daddy staying like how do you feel about this. And he kind of exemplifies. Exactly what mark murphy was kind of saying he's like you know i think and i've always thought he's like aaron. Rodgers is the best quarterback in the national football league. Yes patrick mahomes is great. Yes tom brady is great. But i think a rod is the best spoken like a true fat packer phase. But there's kind of this shine that has has rubbed off a little bit from you know our trophy. That is aaron rodgers because this drama is so much like a dysfunctional family. And he's like. I think the packers created a lot of it. But i'm a little annoyed like if he wanted to leave so bad he showed a left and my response to my father was dad. Told me is the best quarterback in the national football. You would have been okay with him walking. He's like i just didn't like all this back and forth all the time. It made us feel like we aren't worthy of this. Mvp caliber quarterback and so jordan. I guess my question to you is again. My dad is a diehard packers fan. All his friends are. This is something that he's obviously communicated with them about a lot. And so i feel like that is the pulse of wisconsin. Are you surprised by that at all. We'll before we get to addressing your father-in-law's stocks my father. My father in law my father-in-law thoughts before we get to that. Because let me be very clear. Whatever my father-in-law says 'i stand in line with his beliefs. That's my father in law. But you mentioned that conversation with him. Can you elaborate on. What else happened during that phone. Call with my father in law your father. Yesterday i called my dad. While i was driving is driving to the store and my dog and mike son in the back which i shouldn't have been on phone. Okay get it. But i had him on speakerphone. I was the child was in the chorus. I was telling them this year coming back. I knew it would be so excited. I got pulled over and so like shoot. Yeah i'm like. Dad i gotta call you back. I'm getting pulled over exactly. That's what i heard. I hang up the phone and the cop comes to the car and my dog in the car. So she's like barking. Really sorry you know. He's like you're not supposed to be on the phone man against lie. No i'm really. I was calling actually to tell. My dad. lives in wisconsin. I straight i swear. This is what i said to him. That aaron rodgers is coming back to the packers. I knew he'd be so excited. I should have got a phone so that she worked for. Espn did you. Try to drop that in there. I worked for years yet. He leaves with licence registration. I'll i'm getting a ticket a picture i'm getting. He comes back. Hands me license registration and a warning and says well. I've already had a bad day. I'm a broncos fan. I was hoping that aaron rodgers was going to denver. So i hope your dad is happy. Saudi drove away. I thought one win for the cornet household very very nice Got out of seventy to pay for tickets. So thank you now. We got that out of the way. You narrowly avoiding arrest with our four month. Old child in the car. Glad that didn't happen mother the year. Let's go back to a vilification here of aaron rodgers and i get where my father-in-law's coming from. I understand totally that he's annoyed with the situation. He he's just wants resolution he feels like you slide it as a fan and there's you're better than us kind of get it.

"Sports books have said. You can't make this bet any more. On how many games the packers will win. They've taken it off the board because of these rumors because that would be a bomb going off in sports. Yes and i don't know how likely it is to happen. But i don't believe that it's impossible that it will happen. I believe that we are slowly and as quietly as these things can happen. Because against you've got you've seen wear aaron rodgers say that he's unhappy with management You've seen it. Nowhere said nothing. He's a state farm insurance salesman. I he does care about his relationship with that city. He is not james hardened this if he retires. How loud of a statement is that. and are you expecting. It isn't an asinine thing to think that aaron rodgers as a leverage play the reigning. Mvp of the league tells you without saying anything publicly about his unhappiness. i'm retired. I'm not doing this. You will be what level of shocked by that. Am i speaking asinine things to think that that might happen tomorrow. I mean no. i think. I think that's what's going to happen tomorrow. I don't think that he's going to show wa dan. I know he hasn't said anything different things to god's not showing up retiring two different things but not showing up getting the fines or two. Different thing let's deal with green bay for a second because if indeed he simply does not want to return. There doesn't wanna play football. They should look to trade him. You can get so much really wanted to take care of your future. That's what he would be doing. That is the reason he'd be doing it. He'd be doing it to exert. He wouldn't be doing it because he doesn't actually wanna play. I'm not. I don't think he's going to retire. And then just quit the sport and not play anywhere. I think he's going to retire to if he does retire. It will be to force their hand. It will be to make them do something that they don't wanna do. I don't think billy i understand spike. You don't make business transaction one acting out of spite though like he's the one doing what you say that you don't think that the team would do. He's doing not saying anything just to be clear if he retires. It's out of spite. This is an andrew who retired because of health issues are because he fell out of love with the sport. This is him retiring out of spite for an organization that he's tired of but i don't think he'd be retiring to quit. I think he'd be retiring solely and exclusively to exert the leverage of retirement. Because i don't believe a business reacts with the emotion of fine then retire. We won't get anything for you. We'll just be terrible next year but it's a little bit of a gamble on his part because if he retires he can't come back during the contract period without having the packers own the rights to him playing for them and if he comes back say in a year he's going to be a year older a without playing. Does he want to do that. He's a little bit older now. Is that really a smart decision. I don't know what are the financial responsibilities for the packers if he retires. I believe i because they're talking about demonte. Atoms and aaron rodgers being out. I believe they get in a situation where they might lose the two of them and only have like five or six million dollars in salary cap space. If they do. they're going to be bad. They're going to immediately become a bad football team. If what looks like is happening there is what happens. But you get tara. Rogers into a young quarterback and multiple first round picks and it is your job to run that organization and make that organization. Better not make emotional decisions as you pointed out dan and if that indeed is on the table and it will be if they decide they want to trade him. Why would you not do that. What i am watching here escalate because of what is happening stu got you have seen that. Aaron rodgers has been on kenny. Maine's goodbye. He's been golfing in celebrity tournaments. He is slithering around the commentary about what's happening around him. He has not committed to anything but he is also not gotten his way with anything that he has done. He has proven to be done with them. I think he is finished with them. So now how do you escalated. You have a couple of choices. They're not good choices there. There are no good choices here on what you can do if the organization saying hey you're under contract and these contracts are one way we can rip them up whenever we want. You can't do anything you're under contract. The options are you. Don't show up to camp and you make the mess that way you start publicly losing whatever fan base. you think. He's still has the moment you start speaking ill and putting words on your unhappiness. You're gonna lose more and more fans the more you do that. No matter how much you think you explain it or you just say i am so broken and i am so done that i quit. I don't see any other options to escalate this other than the three ugly one but we're also acting like aaron rodgers is a hostage here. They can't get out. He could have gotten out he could have been a free agent. He's chosen to be there. He signed contract extension there. He signed in two thousand eighteen. That wasn't that long ago. If you were so unhappy there you could have left. I think he was happy there. Bill i think he became unhappy when they decided to find his replacement extension at espn. It sounds like the two thousand twenty draft was the was the tipping point so the extension and twenty. He's gone and coaches fired. He got mccarthy fired because he didn't like that coach then. They brought in another coach. That coach now. He doesn't like the fact that they're drafting a quarterback at a certain point like you have to wonder. Is he a problem then. I know that that's not a popular thing. But he seems to be at the center of a lot of these issues he sees. Tom brady and i'm guessing. He thinks he's probably better than tom. Brady going the tampa bay getting grat. Getting tonio brown asking for players getting those players having input and he himself has zero. Al scramble. How about you. You could have gotten into the end zone. A major the super bowl aaron rodgers. How about scramble your way into the end zone. It's a fair point. I also got to wonder about this. Davante adams michael jordan scottie. Pippen thing that they posted like do. Can you really make that comparison. I don't think so. Why aaron rodgers won one super bowl dams was not on the team and now there. There's this delusion to like this last dance..

"Now they got back to good pieces and dre kirkpatrick and ultimately geo bernard to peace on the offense defense it worked well but carson ended up leaving and if you read between the lines same. Representations david don. You almost assume it's gonna be the same kind of thing a green bay if if it's any indicator what history was brought so carson palmer didn't show up to training camp and he didn't show up the first couple of games of the season. He ended up being traded in october. So that is definitely something to look to in terms of timeline again. They have the same representation so it's a good thing. He pointed that out. But what. Aaron rodgers been up to this whole time right. We've seen him play golf but has he been training jeremy. Espn senior nfl reporter. Says he has taken listen. Davante adams talks did break down on his contract until they've been talking behind the scenes for a while and just there was a situation where he had to be the highest paid player because he's become the highest paid receiver in the league executives coaches. They all know it. He's produced at a high level and You know so he. He needs that in order to move on and the packers couldn't quite get there. We're talking twenty two twenty three or more million dollars per year so with their contract structure. That was going to be hard to do right now. So talks have paused. There's still a chance a lot of time until week one. But here's the thing a little wrinkle. If aaron rodgers does return devante onto adams could be incentivized to just play one more year and go into free agency in two thousand twenty two because we know aaron rodgers is not long for green bay. If he comes back it could be sorta begrudgingly. Maybe it's eight last dance situation. They both play together for one more year. Move on okay. so obviously. That's not jeremy talking about the training situation but nonetheless. That is something that of importance. What's going to happen with davante. Adams says he come back for more year and then become a free agent. Does he arguing von. does he hold out. who knows. There's the instagram post. I was talking about earlier. That both aaron rodgers and devante adams posted over the weekend. It's of michael jordan and mj On the court given the michael jordan. Mj michael jordan scottie. Pippen both on the co slayton. Scotty again this issue of people all you see is jammed frigging what time those tickets. Everybody because he keeps me the forgotten hall of famer. Relax okay. i haven't even finished..

What kind of coach you have. You have to actually follow through. So i know this kind of obvious but a lot of people i've met along the way have hired coaches and ask them. I wanna say that kerry did say that she did do the work so that doesn't apply to her but i just want to say that i was listening the next thing i want to say which is a hard truth that we all have to understand..

Len gonna houston. There was something the time memory serves because dolan is such a wizard with how he works. The happen manages. The book said cable vision. I think there was some clause that if they signed jeremy lin for eight million he'd have to get some extension where they have to pay him fifty million dollars or something like that so they let him walk to houston. Got his bagging. They went nine and to miami. What was his line against. It was not great so he played thirty four minutes. He was one of eleven a tough night down so on. I'm eleven from the four of two from three hundred sticks of six from the line for eight points and they're like exactly what it was. It was toni. Kukoc getting shutdown in ninety two olympics. By mike. And scottie saying no. We're not gonna let this. Conversation was should jeremy lin being off. They're like he's only played for eight games. The all star games next week and it's a fan event. The fans want to see him was minus nineteen and the time to be alive guys by fourteen. Yeah and after that years after that what they. They traded a first round draft. Pick steve novak for our drill. Barn yanni for the knicks fan. Hey phil dallas. We should throw in jae crowder in this trade for tyson chip good. We don't need jae crowder with the knicks. were good. we're okay on that trade. Love jae crowder. He's just he's saying that guy he can do so many different things. He's so good. He hit a big game. Four and it wasn't enough for phoenix but jae crowder tough guys do on your team. Yeah great for boston. The goodwill we'll say the draft rights that ended up to be clean. Anthony early you guys. What do you do. If you're the knicks go get it more nerlens noel. I had a great year mitchell robinson. He's been a space cadet kind. Go get through two years. "You can pick them off the wall to a Chicago home for 33 just three lucky fans to watch the Olympics in style. Remember, he was part of the dream team. Which is the last nail in the coffin for me regarding watching the Olympics I used to like to watch. I don't know what he's doing now. But there was this guy named Bruce Jenner. When I was a kid. He's very big. It's very cool to see him. Did you quite well? Mark Spitz. I remember him an older Corbett. I really loved her, even though she was a godless communist. I did love her one as a kid. But when we started sending pros over, like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen to play in the Olympics. That's when I gave it a ghost on it. So let me guess. Scottie Pippen. Inviting people over to your home in Highland Park. Would this be part of a marketing campaign? I have a partnership with Airbnb and I'm Line three guests coming to miles soft for one you're aligning or allowing in only three. I mean, it's not a small property. Uh, from my home. I got a beautiful movie theater. Got a basketball court, but it's just a very fun and entertaining house. You can watch the game from outside. Um, you know, from my pool. I got a beautiful 80 H t V outside, So it's a great experience to be able to watch the athletes perform. I'd like to know. For sure. If Scotty actually still lives in this house, I mean, it is it is in Highland Park. It's a nice house. Um, but I don't know if he still lives there and You know, it's nice to do promotions, and it's nice to give fans lifetime experiences. But I've worked a lot of entertainers who are very good at that. But generally it's them showing up at your house. Not you inviting.

"And Phil Jackson, by the way, will be 76 in September. Um Even two weeks from now, will anyone Care believe Think it has anyone's opinion of Phil Jackson changed. Because Scottie Pippen said that I guess it's possible. But more likely the opinions formed on Phil Jackson. Were formed a long time ago. And aren't likely to have changed. Because of this revelation from Scottie Pippen. More likely he's trying to sell books, get some excitement going at his name in the paper. Get a buzz circulated. And to be fair. That's why Conseco wasn't believed at the beginning is because they thought it was marketing. Right now We look at everything with the John dust I and believe it is related to marketing. He's just trying to make money. Oh, he's just playing an angle. Oh, he's just trying to get Whatever. You know he's trying to get publicity. As long as you spell my name, right? I don't care what you say that kind of thing. So I get That that sentiment is out there and that people Uh, Are Skeptical when a player Former player, especially Comes out after the fact when he has a book coming out. And says things that are controversial. There's no way to know whether that is a legitimate sentiment. And he is being honest with you. Or whether he is just trying to sell a book. And he needs juicy stories. To create the buzz. And there never will be a way. You know, it's not. It's not like a problem that can be solved. It's it's never going to be Uh, There's never going to be a solution to keeping somebody from trying to be sensationalistic in order to sell something. And so we all form our own opinions and take it with a grain of salt, or we take it to heart. Or somewhere down the scale. Between the two Because there is no way to know Was it interesting, I guess. I guess. I'm a little personally. Cooked. The whole Chicago Bulls 19 nineties. Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen. Like, Leave it alone for me. I've had enough. I got to push myself away from the table. No matter how good the food is, if you're full, your fault. That's where I am on. The 90 Bulls. Don't need to hear another thing about Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson. Tony Ku coach Steve Kerr, et cetera. The list goes on. I don't need air. I'm full. I'm pushed away from the table there. But I get it that it still sells, you know. And I get it that I'm not mainstream. And if you look if you look at the Jordan brand America does not agree with me. America is very much in the Jordan camp. Still credit to him credit to his greatness credit, too. Timing. Uh, Exciting time for the NBA. And Personality and I think the singular nous to when you think about it now, LeBron is LeBron But there are a lot of good players that we celebrate in this league. And more so than there were. There were a lot of good players then too, but we celebrate them more now. So maybe that singular image of Jordan representing that entire decade and the age of those people now who are maybe Between nine and 19, then. And are now you know. 29 to 50.

"A funny, feisty show. Yeah. 332377 16 to wrestle, Get this thing over with. I never heard him either. Talk about The whole thing about the air. We're gonna add to each other about the Aaron Rodgers thing. And you know the last stance and I said, I brought up something about You know how the last dance was ridiculous and they in? He, of course on the show was defending Jerry. Breaking up six championship team, a three peat Not letting them go back together in 1990. Nine's like they had nothing left. They were done. I find Jerry Krause doesn't get enough credit for some things, but I also Michael Jordan is the exception to a lot of these rules. You know, Bill Belichick lives by this policy of you move on a year to early versus a year too late. In my world. There are exceptions to those rules. Easy for me to tell. The guy was one how many like seven Super Bowl rings, But Michael Jordan transcends that narrative in mind. That team did. They couldn't wait to get rid of Phil. So like this is again the small minded nature. It is more than just about Could they have one in 99? They could have. It was a strike shortened year They went to bed to play as many games. Were they on their fumes? Probably They played a lot of basketball games. They're able to get out of the Eastern Conference finals. Then they would get a seven. They were down in the first half to Game seven against the Pacers. Okay, but they still didn't get beat. And this is here, where the small mindedness comes in. Not on Lee. Did you turn the team over to Tim Floyd, then Corey Benjamin and then Tyson and Eddie and all that stuff and all that losing and getting beaten. Just tow a pope The Carmen to Falco pregame days. But then by breaking that team up by sending Phil packing by forcing Michael into retirement, and by sending Scotty to Houston, you created this perception around the league that you don't take care of your players. And we're still fighting the battle that Whoa! If they didn't take care of Michael and Scottie and Phil, who won six Why're they were going to take care of me? So to say, and to defend the end and not giving them a chance. Maybe they don't win in 99, but you tried hard, and if they didn't win, maybe Michael Jordan is still with the Bulls. Maybe Michael Jordan is one going to Tracy McGrady to recruit him here instead of Jerry Krause and the lovable Zin Benny at the airport. Maybe Michael Jordan. Scottie Pippen are recruiting Tim Duncan here. Maybe Grant Hill signs here. Maybe you're able to pass the baton better than Jerry Krause winning this power struggle with with harmony Hall Famers Scottie Michael Rodman. Fill all Hall of Famers. So to say, not trying in 99. Well, they would have lost that. It's so small minded. It is so kiss asked to simply because you work for the owner of the team and its television network. It makes no sense in the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, make the finals that year. Did the New York Knicks? Yeah. I would there they see, like to defend one to see that made the finals to not allow that team and create the perception that we don't take care of our own. Maybe Michael's got an interest of the Bulls now. Maybe Scotty recruits Grant hell I think one of cabs wasn't part of caps argument for this that Phil was stepping aside anyway. I think that's what you said on the show. You know why Phil was stepping aside because when they were in Seattle in 1996 They were. They flew Tim Floyd out to Seattle when the Bulls were in the midst of warning their fourth championship. Not there. Six, their fourth. And what we really when in descent 98. Yeah. When we had the last dance last year. Well, this all came up because of Aaron Rodgers. This came up because Aaron Rodgers was saying that Duty is like Kraus, and he's like Michael. Well, good. He's not like cross because cross had played on our large role in terms of winning six titles. That's true. That is true. I I mean, is goody also known as being somebody that It's good I like Is that his personality like does he have a cross like personality? Or was Aaron calling himself Michael? And Judy was Jerry Krause that what he was saying? Yes, he was saying that you're breaking something up when their championship level team you couldn't wait to get to Jordan Love Jerry Krause couldn't wait to build a team without Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan and Scottie will say that Aaron went through all of this, like he was on the other side of this conversation with the whole Brett Farve thing. So like it's in part of it's really weird to me to hear Aaron Rodgers on this front when he was Jordan Love at one point his career, right, so he lived it right. He lived it. So I mean, this whole thing to me has been exceptionally weird. But you're here for it because of the bears. Of course I am. But my my my point is, is like this isn't about Look, I think you get you can point to a lot of things that they did to try and build a good team to give Aaron Rodgers a chance like that defense significantly better last year that it had been before they added. Preston Smith. They added, I think, as the Darius Smith is what they did some nice things they ignored, bringing in another weapon inside that offensive huddle. I don't totally fault the Packers for completely ignoring building the roster to help Tell me where they failed was the lack of communication and some guys need more communication than others. And they just decided that we're going to treat Aaron Rodgers like You know, a knave Ridge quarterback with regard to the communications Turk in New Lenox here on ESPN 1000. What's up, Turk? No, and he's, she said. They're stopping her feet and hold their breath. That was Caplin after every valid argument and point and reaction from leader this morning. That cap just didn't want to understand. It didn't want to hear it. And he kept telling Dan to take the L take the el. Well, your cookie all hard. Kept kept took the LRT. Come tell him you're out of touch. You're out of touch. Sampling. He was way out of touch dead. Dude took the l hard today, and it was perfect listening to Weir's response. Every single time Cool collected. I don't get what Kaplan's problem is, man. He's got too much caffeine in the morning too much. Too much. Whatever he's got going on there, that dude's got to calm down Hood. He's got to give him a hug or something..

"Nonetheless. Right, Um Every week. We've seen guys try to change their situation before way in the past, just like he did. Yes, I was gonna get to that. Not the way you live. Manning and then Brett Farb. So who How many times that that guy pump fake retirement, And then he wound up on the Jets and then the Vikings. Um, I think we make too much money to voice an opinion. But I'm not saying he's wrong. It sounds like shut up and play which is way too close to shut up and drivel, which is obviously you know a sensitive thing. For Ah, lot of people. Um and I'm not even saying farm in it that way or anything, but It's just not a good look, that's all. He could say if you want. I'd be hypocritical if I said he couldn't say it right. But it's just not a good look for the guy. And we're now at the point with Brett Farve where you kind of just have, like an eye roll Emoji. When you see he said anything It's all right. What are we gonna get? What's coming up after this? Uh, this quote starts. What With Brett Farve got for us this time, and you know what else I find funny? Has AH! Sure it wasn't even said anything. E think he tweeted I was on to. Now I'm on 10, which was a reference to I think maybe like what Adam Schefter had written in a peace that his anger was, too And now it's 10, so he was sort of letting people know that he's legitimately angry. But other than that, I don't recall the showing Watson saying anything publicly, that's all taking place behind the scenes, and clearly there's some issues behind the scenes in Houston and and the guy wants a better situation for his career. But it is very rich coming from Brett Farve, considering we know that Brett Farve voiced opinions behind the scenes. There's no question it's not even possible. For him not to have done so When you know he winds up in a having multiple fake retirements and then winding up, you know, leaving the Packers and the process and then going eventually to the Vikings. A division rival where he wanted the wind up so I'm like I spent too much time on bread far, but it's not a big deal doesn't really matter. In the grand scheme of things. It was just kind of like a Come on, bro. 55 to 1 to 4 to 27855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Let's go to Billy in Toronto. Billy, you're up next. Here on the Robin Lundberg Show what's going on, Billy? How you doing? Robin? Listen, Yeah, I am I like Tampa Bay. I think half of a wins the Super Bowl and only because I think they're playing a lot better than when they when they were playing earlier in the year. I think they're clicking and I really like the defense. I'm not a guy that believes that Kansas City was just taking it easy during the regular season. You play once every Sunday, and you're coming out all board for every single game. I think Kansas City is ah is well, they did win all those games. Even whether they were taking it easy or not. They won all of them. But one Right. I agree, but Having having said that? I just think that on Dia greed, I agree with you that changes City beat some 42 to 10. I wouldn't be surprised, but I'm going to go in another direction and say I could see it coming the other way. I could see Tampa Bay language. I really like this Tampa Bay defense and how they're playing. This Super Bowl is not gonna be one by Tom Brady. I mean, they beat some. They beat the Rams. What last Brady Super Bowl 13 3. That wasn't Tom Brady that one that Super Bowl was a great defense. It's a full. It's a full team here. And yet my homes is magic. No question about it, but I think they could stop him. Just like I said your last week. Watch out for this Kansas City team. They cried. They try to trick you. They mean and I mean, a smart way. I mean, they really, really looks like they go over film and say, Okay, you seen this last week on film? We're not doing it this weekend. You're gonna be expecting it. I really I really think Have a bacon win it Um And I hope they do. I hope they win the Super Bowl. But you know, I have nothing against the homes or Kansas City. One quick thing, Robin on the one quick thing just on the what you were saying before in the basketball that I mean, I'm really getting tired of this. Really getting tired of these teams Switching teams. You know, everybody. The big argument is Jordan against LeBron James 66 Championships against four. Well, I disagree. I think it's six championships against one because if if LeBron see, and I'm a big LeBron guy, But if LeBron stays in Cleveland, he got four championships. The guys back in the day. Can you imagine? Can you imagine Michael Saints who are magically Larry? Say, Hey, listen in to in two years time, you know what? Let's all head down to Miami Chicago is called this time, Larry. Boxed in court. Let's get everybody that Scrabble eyes one. Let's grab Isiah Thomas and this Well, super team. Yeah, I could. I could imagine that. I mean, look, a larger one wound up teaming up with Charles Barkley and Uh, Scottie Pippen, Right? Um, they were older in their career, but that that's something that happened. Uh, Michael Jordan, Frankly, didn't need to do that. I mean, that's the difference. Michael Jordan didn't need to do that. Because he was on a super team. You know, it was. It just happened to be built around him, but he the Chicago Bulls for a super team. Dennis Rodman was somebody that he vouched for toe to bring in from the rival Pistons. The bad boy Pistons were their rival. He was one of the big players on that bad boy Pistons team and he said, Yeah, bring him aboard. He already had Scottie Pippen, who was a top five player in the game. You know, at that point when Jordan went to play baseball, you know, the Bulls won 55 games behind Scottie Pippen and VP candidate I think you could make an argument. He was even the second best player in the N B A. At that time. I think that that time I would say the top three players in the NBA where Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen to Charles Barkley. You know you could foot pop the order of two and three. So, uh, look, it's free agency and things have changed if you want to say you're you know you're not a fan of player movement. Could you want guys to be identified with the team? That's all Well and good, But I I just don't you know, I don't think you could ignore the fact that There was no need for that change in circumstance because the organization not only they may be the greatest coach of all time, arguably the greatest coach of all time, but another hall of Fame all time great player. And then you know, in the first incarnation, a bunch of really good role players and then in the second incarnation, Dennis Rodman and a bunch of really good role players, so I mean, he played on a super team. I think you know, that's a big three Jordan for that day and age. That was a big three. Jordan, Pippen and Robin Yeah, I agree with that, Robin, but, uh, still like, I'll even go with the Trevor Bauer contract and he just signed. What is this? You signed for three years and you have to opt outs after the first two years. I mean, I don't like this. I don't like this jumping from team to team the team. Finally, I'll leave you with this Robin. I forgot to say about the football but If Tom Brady gets.

"And it was one of those things that i will. Never forget and to see and to relive all these moments watching the last dance on. Espn was the highlight of my year. This was hands down for me. The best and most personal thing that i'd watched all year. I fucking i cried. I laughed. i cried. And i loved the last dance on. Espn it is just. It is fucking perfect. And rebecca. I don't like i don't know if you you give a fuck about basketball but i'm telling you if you watch this. I think that you would think you would get something out of this. I mean i can certainly remember back in the day. I mean you'd have to be under a rock. Not be aware of the michael jordan scottie. Pippin denis rodman years. I mean even. I'm aware of it of the chicago bulls. So i i i know you've you've raved about it. It's definitely something that sounds interesting. I know a lot of people have loved this. This docu series. So yeah. I'm i'm i love that. It's something so personal to you that you got so much. Emotional like enjoyment out of it. That's that's great. I cannot wait to watch it again. If i looked to my right. I've got chicago bulls soda machine to my right. If i looked to my left. I gotta chicago bulls locker to my left. Like i've got so much chicago bulls memorabilia this like. It's one of the things that me and my family connected with growing up. Some of my best memories are watching bulls games with my family. You know standing up on the couch and fucking throwing her fists up in the bulls won and then just fucking like feeling like absolute shit. When they lost that that seventy two in ten season. I remember fucking when the bulls loss to the charlotte hornets and they lost their tactic. It was the tenth game that they lost. And i was hoping that they'd get under single digits for the year. But i mean god i just this brought back so many memories of that team i it just. It was an incredible fucking experience for me to be able to watch this from week to week. So the last dance is the best. Tv show that. I watched all year. And i'm telling you if you're not a fan of basketball. It doesn't matter watch this. I think that that there's so much drama in the series that. I think that it can bring in paul. I know you watch this paul right. Oh yeah yeah. This is one of my honorable. Mentions and i just finally became a fan of basketball. Just because brandon jennings is used to come to our school and to the kids. But i as what you're saying as someone who really has no history with basketball this was just compelling a compelling tv to the point where most made the pizza delivery guy in utah. My villain of the year was just a fantastic. Tv show. Well done and i grew up. Just being told to hate rodman because he was so different. But you really ended up loving rodman in the series like you get to see his perspective and it was just well done all the way around back in back in the old days when they first launched. nba tv. They used to have a call in show. There's at least two episodes of the nba tv..
