Listed weekdays, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. eastern on Odyssey, Spotify, or your favorite podcast app. Hello, welcome to the game theory podcast. I'm your Sam facility we are presented by the athletic today on the show, Dave deforest here and we are going to talk about one thing. Of which there are many topics that we can discuss within that one thing, but it's trades. Today is December 15th. It is NBA trade kick-off day. There's trade deadline day and realistically while trades can be made ahead of December 15th. December 15th, is the day where a wide swath of the NBA is opened up to be traded because it's the day that free agents that signed last off season are eligible to be traded. So I've brought on Dave. We're going to talk about some of the potential trade targets. We're going to kind of reset the board a little bit here and break down just some of the more intriguing names, some of the more intriguing potential moves on the market right now. Dave, before we get into that, you had something very, very important near and dear to my heart that you wanted to talk about on the pod. Yeah, you know, over the last couple of weeks, I realized I had a hole in my cooking game. And that hole is the size of a pizza. I did not have the ability to just have a go to crust if I needed to make a pizza at home. Which, as a guy who, I pride myself on my home cooking. I'm a good home cook. Not being able to make pizza from scratch. That's a glaring weakness. I've got a good sourdough recipe and I actually, we talked about this. I decided to go ahead and just pull out all of my bread making stuff. I've got the sourdough starter going now because I'm committed to being able to make a good pizza dough and I came to the master. When you asked me to do your podcast, it was fortuitous timing, my friend because I was about to text you to ask, hey man, what am I doing wrong here? Why am I not getting enough air in this crust? And I think I've solved it at this point. Number one, my yeast is not activated enough. Number two, my fermenting is going poorly because I'm not giving it enough time. I have to decide I'm gonna make pizza before 3 o'clock in the afternoon if I want to eat it that night. So that's where I'm at. Yeah, you're talking to someone who does not really do pizza. Like I don't do bread. I do airy bread, right? I do bread. Yeah, like focaccia. I've done sourdough a couple of times. I'm not great at it either, to be honest. I'm really not awesome at making cookie bacon. Somebody tells me they're into baking. I just assume you can do it all. If I tell you I'm into cooking and you're like, oh, okay, can you make a steak? Oh, no, no, I'm good at everything but that. Like bread is baking. Look like I can make a loaf of bread, but like for the most part, it's sweets. Like I'm really good with cookies. I'm really good with cakes. I'm really good with pies, tarts, like pastries of that nature pastry. Desserts. So you're a dessert baker. Yeah, any sort of desserts. I'm really good with a clarify here. This is like being a three and D wing. And not playing defense. Oh no. I'm sorry. I'm a specialist for sure, baby. That's where it's at. I'm trying to think. Like, what would be the comparison here? I am. Patrick Beverly, but like less scrappy in the kitchen. You're more Dunkin Robinson. You're coming off screens. Yeah. Come with that. Yeah, I can do that. Duncan can back cut, like cookies or back cutting for me, but like for the most part, it's cakes and pies. Like I can nail that to a tea. And Jimmy Butler is the baker man, right? He definitely is like rolling them up, making dough. Oh, that's working inside, right? I mean, yeah. This is that guy, that guy is unbelievable. He's the do you remember do you remember, do you watch great bitters bake off at all? No, no, no. I don't really watch TV. You gotta do. And I definitely don't like I don't really watch reality TV. There's one show that I watch and I didn't even, I'm bad about keeping up with stuff that's not the NBA. And it's a loan. I don't know if you've ever seen that show. But yeah. They send you, they send like 12 people out into the middle of nowhere during the winter in Canada. And they just survive alone. That show speaks to me. I love that. You gotta dive into Yellowstone, Dave. I see. Nope. I don't think so, man, because I don't know. I don't have, I don't know. I just don't really find myself getting into much and I can watch the virginian if I really needed to you know, like the old show. I could get on, I don't know. I just don't watch a lot of TV. So I've never seen the great British bake off. So you'll have to kind of describe it. I do understand that it's supposed to be fun. It's just like the most lovely show that you will find. It's literally just like 12 bakers competing against one another, but also being like the nicest people in the world to one another. And like helping each other sometimes, despite the fact they're competing against each other because everyone just wants to have a really good attitude and be very positive when they're in this thing. It's actually just like a really lovely enjoyable thing to have on in the background as well as to watch obsessively like Laura and I do. That's okay. I'll check out an episode of it. I doubt I'd like it, but you never know. I don't know. A lot of Jacques pepin on YouTube. See, like, I think that bake off is one of those things where if you just need to remind yourself that humanity is very nice and like positive. This is a really good, it's really good thing to like kind of just be like, hey, this is good. I enjoyed this. I watched Steph Curry for that. That's a good call. Holy shit. Congrats.

"The Eagles. San Francisco 3.5 point favorites. Now that the injuries that I mean they just had two major injuries. So correct is done for the for the year. Mostly they just signed Drakkar, Patrick and most of its on IR. So it's those are too big, too big a sermon Now I think we'll get bigger run there. Because they are the Eagles. Good. Or was it the fact they're playing the Falcons? Guess we'll find out something. But it's only 3.5. By then, half point. Take the by the half point. Take the Niners. Yeah, I would do that look at the same way. Saints that the Panthers Saints are 3.5 point favorites. In Carolina, You gotta give things crabbing egg. They did a number on the Packers. So I'm going to roll with saints. I am, too, because it's they did, And it's not just because it was the first game this season. They had all offseason to prepare. Sean Payton. Is that good? A coach he had. He had stuff ready for Rogers self. I just I'm still I just don't remember the things defense being this good. They were good a couple years ago. Uh, Malcolm Jenkins is Malcolm Malcolm Jenkins is back there almost called Michael Jenkins. But there was one, um They're solid on each level. Not great, but they're solid so and playmakers. Um Lattimore is out. I mean, it's I'm gonna go with sinks. Rams are at the Colts Rams are four point favorites. I love the Rams, the Rams right touchdown, at least in that game. Like the ramps, the Colts played solid. Like I said, they gave a big plays, and that was the difference between them and the Seahawks and Cooper Cup. I did not know he leads the NFL and yards after catch. Says he's been leak, Does he? Really? Yeah, That's amazing Catch yards after catch Cooper Cup is since I was a 2018. I saw it. I was like that when I came up when they said it sounds like no way and they put the graphic on. It was like Okay, I tell you, it makes sense, though, because Cooper cups the guy that catches that little five yard slant and he's gone. He's gone. Yeah. I like it. Yeah. So I like the Rams a lot and I was disappointed with Carson Wentz, his play. I just I mean, I don't know if he's reached his ceiling, or if we thought it was that that run that he had before he got hurt. Was just An anomaly like Mark ripping mean I don't know, but had a one great year. Yeah, he's on Sports Illustrated. And all that stuff my buffalo. You never heard from him again. Yeah. Brett Ribbons, brother, right? No, his dad was very Evans. Dad. Yeah, I want to play for the Broncos. That Yeah, as Lord I'm old. Like we said Raiders are at the Steelers Steelers six point favorites. Steelers. After all that nonsense. I just saw, uh, yeah. Patriots at the Jets. Pats are five point favorites. Yeah. Now have another motivated team. Impressed by any of the rookie quarterbacks. Mike Jones. I was impressed with, um what exact Wilson now. It was weird. He had a very good preseason and then brother season he kind of looked Darren headlights a little bit. And what do you think of coaches bringing in their rookie quarterbacks in the packages? That stupid? It's just dumb because you're tilting your hand. You're not bringing in the last two. Throw the ball. You know, it's a run bad It's r P l And he's keeping it there, telling them either you hand it or you run. It's not. There's no players the same thing with the Bears and Justin Fields, right? Well, you'll let Justin Fields throw it. But at the same time Why are you if he's if he's good enough to do that, then he should be playing. Yeah. I mean, they as almost like They said, Let's get him the first NFL touchdown. Let's get him out of the way. Yeah, so I mean, Ended on is just holding that scene top by weekend, Bye week comes and it's just feels shop and here's a line that to me makes no sense. Vikings at the Cardinals Cardinals only four point favorites after the way they dominated defensively that tightens and how badly the Vikings played against Cincinnati. How can you not take the Cardinals here? And you realize it's the game that's going to bite you in the the ones with the Vikings will end up winning. That's the one where I'm still telling. I'm still advocating taking the card exactly Take the Cardinals because that's the smart play, but the Vikings will win. Yeah, absolutely exactly what's going to happen, and that's how betting works. 100% Falcons are at Tampa. Let's play. Guess the line I'm going to say. It's at least 10. I'm gonna go 10 13. Oh, here's your 13 Point favorites. Well, even though Tampa Bay won that game, they're going to be motivated going in. That's one of those where their attention has been. Okay, Now you've got our attention. We're ready to go. And Employment. Ryan Poor Matt Ryan. They're coming for you. Yeah, When you when you're running game consists of Mike Davis, who is Just decent. I guess it's better than obviously better not ever be so, but he's not. You know Jamal Anderson back there. He's not, uh, he's not giving me all warm and fuzzy know exactly So, Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna lay the 13. Really. It's a lot of points in the NFL Falcons are bad. They are but 13 still lot of points to lay in the NFL. And they just they just lost about almost 20 to 31 to six sales by 25. Jeez and the Eagles 32 to 6 something like that, and they don't have Mike Evans and Tonio Brown and Gronkowski and Chris Godwin made your point. Keep going, and I think that game was in Atlanta this games in Tampa. Yeah. Now another very interesting games. I like some of these games in week. Two. Dallas going to the Chargers, Chargers are three point favorites. I'm going to take Dallas and I'm taking notes on my line. They look good. I like. How do you not like the Chargers in this game? Because Justin Herbert still makes Bone had to say that Dallas defense does not scare me. The Redskins did called in Richmond again. The Washington football team defense to me is much better than that. Dallas. Yeah, they are. I just Dallas impressed me by the way they played in spite of Mike McCarthy and all I mean, I was impressed with they should have won that game against Tampa. So I'm gonna go money in line with the Cowboys. Funny, saying that because I almost bet the Cowboys and the entire week I was thinking I'm picking the Cowboys in the points because of what you said about when you raise the banners usually lose that Something wasn't points. Take the capital and points in the morning of the game. I'm listening to the radio on second. You know, you really should take the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are going to dominate. I said, I change my picture The Buccaneers. I got hosed by it. I cashed. I walked up to take care of my money..

Guess yeah don't from all and he put together All the players who are still left in-draughts since tom brady got drafted so brady draft in two thousand right. So he's obviously the last person left in the two thousand draft Nobody left in two thousand one drafts. Now that drew brees retired. Not let in two thousand and two drafts. Josh mccown retired two years ago. Nobody left in two thousand. Three's and chasing wit retired this year again. I think teddy from two thousand four there are three players left. One of them is andy. Lee the punter. Can you name the other two. Fizi your burger. That's right although larry fitzgerald not technically currently on a team right now trae isn't that the team might be down to two. And then two thousand five aaron rodgers mike nugent frank gore richie incognito. Dan colquitt and ryan. Patrick though brady might outlast one two three four five as definitely drafts of guys. Ready to hang it up. That's insane so shout out to brian from paths chaplain that together. Because that's fucking crazy shit but yes all right. So that was the draft basha crazy and this team is one of like. I think like you always see a lot of people talking about the premier offense of the day. All patrick mahomes is the second best quarterback ever behind. Tom brady and i think people forget about how terrifying peyton manning was as a quarterback. Do you think the home planet. I dunno not yet. That's what i'm saying but people are like. Oh i mean it's it's it's tom brady Aaron rodgers and patrick mahomes people you hear about..

"michael jenkins" Discussed on KNBR The Sports Leader
"Yeah, a week. The story again, the cities and the magical homes in the concussion Protocol way Kansas City Chiefs fan and player is going to be watching that closely, hoping he's healthy enough to play Ronald Jones in the ball game for the first time. A tailback first intent for Tampa Bay from its own 25. Brady under center takes the snap back into place fit. Brady looks throws left side incomplete. Still, that one over the head of Jones Alex Angeloni, the linebacker was in coverage will bring up second down 10 Bucks offense has not been able to get anything going so far. So far Catch. It's halfway decent then that sack the end the last in the last series. Brady had time here, but the coverage is just really good down the field. Trying to get Ronald Jones. But Brady is basically thrown that away. He sees it. Jones has covered up completely. There's nothing down the field since going to ice eighties. No chance for a shot where he gets the shotgun snap on 2nd 10 handoff. Jones between the hash marks across the 30 after the 32 driving forward of the 33, maybe even a 34 yard line. So a hole opened up that time for Ronald Jones. Now it'll be third down and short as he gains about 8.5 on that second down, run. Remember this game? There's no Alex Kappa. He's out on IR after the injury last week, so Aaron Stinney He's getting his first start as a professional out of James Madison was a converted D lineman and college and for that he's playing left guard next Donald Smith. He's someone watching this entire game. Third down in one the balls at the 34 Grady goes under center to receiver stacked right single man left. On Kowski emotion from right to left. Hand up Jones. Straight ahead. He got hit around his knees. I don't know he only needed to yours. Based on the initial spot. He's short. Needed to get to the 35 yard line, and they are signaling fourth down. That was Malcolm Jenkins, the veteran safety who came up and went low made the tackle on Ronald Jones. It's fourth and the nose of the football the Bucks for staying out there. Yeah, exactly right. Mike Evans, Who's the receiver? That side of the one is responsible for the run fourth, But Michael Jenkins is assuming now come taken just beats into the spot. And boy whiskey, Carl in this game going forward. Radio under center. He drives straight ahead, and I think with the second effort, he got it. What grade he got stood up. Initially. Course he's one of the best in NFL history of that quarterback. Sneak. He got hit right away, but then was able to search forward just a little bit more and get the first down across. The 35 didn't look like he was gonna get it for a second there. Good penetration. Changed defensive front. You know, we talked about it. Brady pretty much wanted to almost every quarterback's statistic. He would be number one by far on. Quarterbacks needs one of the best ever for his first out of the game for Tampa Bay, first in 10 handoff forehead cuts left finds a hole in that an ankle tackle trips him up just across the 40 at the 41 yard line, man. It looked for a second, like letter for that might be off to the races. But shy total was able to get a shoe lace and he brings him down after a gain of about five. You know those old school video Those of training camp where they have the running backs run through the tires under for that, getting tired. Gotta pick those feet up because you're right. Good job blocking and he was a shoestring away from the big play. Second out of 5 41. Grady under center takes the snap. There's a handoff. Ornette running right side this time across the 45. He's out near midfield. Get him down at the 49 yard line, so back to back strong runs from four net. Malcolm Jenkins on attack a little first down for the box. This is exactly What the Buccaneers needed that needed to get the run game going and it's just play. It's really designed to bounce. He's gonna sell it up into the inside these in a bouncing to the right. Outside, right and North Jenkins is sitting out there does not make the play from his former position. Eight yard pick up first in 10 Brady back fakes The handoff fakes to Antonio Brown on the end around now loads up going deep down the middle of the field, looking for Mike Evans, and it's incomplete and that was the match up. We're gonna be watching all day Mike Evans against Marshawn Lattimore. Lattimore has had a lot of success against Evans in his career that would have completed the second out of 10 sayings that a lot of success is an understatement. He is absolutely shut down my Kevin and often face reversed. Antonio Brown. Tom Brady was gonna take a shot, no matter what man to man coverage, But Lattimore is right in the hip pocket. My heavens. Goes up. High points in knots it away with his right hand and gets up and not have a few words like Evans is. He was heading back to the huddle. Second out of 10 for the 49. Brady back to throw Look, screens it out to the right side and Antonio Brown jungles and drops. The ball picks it up tries to run, but it is an incomplete pass. Brought Brown in motion in the backfield, then tried to swing it out to him on the right and he was unable to hang on to third and sent back to that Lattimore Evans matchup for a moment, including that pass right there. Marshawn Lattimore. His career against Mike Evans has seen evidence targeted 21 times with Lattimore in coverage. He has nine catches none of those this season. A lot of more won best corners. All football, but he takes it through a whole nother level is like Deon Sanders out there when he pushed Mike Evans, Tampa Bay with a third down and 10 minutes. 49 Brady is back in the shotgun. Three receivers left single man, right. Forget the backfield. The Brady's right. Grady barks out the signals gets the snap. Flags are down. Brady throws right side They're gonna blow this one dead. I was going for Mike Evans and one of the first down around 35 of the Saints jumped into the neutral zone before the snap..
